Casino as well. Uh Monday Night football. Tonight, Seahawks host
the Texans. It's a seven o'clock kickoff. Interesting, Luckily it's
a later kickoff. If it was a standalone Monday night game,
it'd be at five point fifteen. That would be good
as it is. We got a lot going on. Your

(01:07):
warm up back, I guess would be us here with
the Kraken they take on the Flyers to night four
o'clock on ninety three point three KJFM. Three point thirty
pre game, Andrews is hosting is we got betting back

in side of Hawk's Peak, where I'd normally at, So
head on up there.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
I mean that, honestly.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
We got a lot of options, got a lot of
options tonight to go watch a game if you want
to go out and about, and I would say hawks
Peak with all the TVs sixty three plus in there
and great food, would be one good place because you know,
you want to have probably an eye and a half
on Game seven and maybe half an eye on the
Seahawks until the other thing's over. Our friends at the
Queen Anne Beer Hall Man, they had a great parties

(02:26):
going on there for all their watch parties as well.
And yeah, but head on up there. Baseball's Best post
game Show immediately following the game tonight here on KJR
with Chuck and Bucky Jacobson, right after the game is over.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Okay, yeah, it's been it's been a weekend. We got more.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
We got the lolly Wop guys coming up at one twenty,
and we're not really going to get into Seahawks stuff
much outside of the following big game. We talked about
co Sell on Friday. Deep is a massive test for
the Texans. The issue you run into not issue, but
the sense of urgency of you know, one of seventeen

(03:09):
is that this division is damn good and the Rams
appear to be getting better even without Pooka.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Yesterday they just rumbled and rolled and had an easy, easy.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Time overseas against Jacksonville and Matt Stafford through five touchdown
passes and then somehow the forty nine ers and we're
not gonna have time to have a lun done tomorrow
because we have another short show. But somehow the forty
nine ers just keep on winning, which is remarkable. Now
Seattle may have its secondary intact. We could see Love
and Witherspoon belt both back out there, which would be great.
That's not the side of the ball that worries me.

(03:40):
The side of the ball that worries me is the
other side, and we talked about that with co Sell Friday.
Those edge rushers Abe Lucas has not been having a
good season, and that's being kind. And Gokug's a lovey
Abe to death, but it has been a struggle for
him this year for whatever reason. And it's weird. He's healthy,
he should be fine, but that's gonna be tough. It's
just it's a big challenge. I think the Yoks are
up to it, and I think they're one of the

(04:01):
better teams in the NFL. But tonight will be another
little bromer, We'll another little litmus test. And you know,
MJA and The Midday talked about it earlier. For whatever reason,
home field advantage has just disappeared under Mike McDonald four
and eight. I think the record is now since he
took over there. Okay, so I'm jotting some notes down,
and you know, lots a lot Obviously a lot of
transpires since we were last on the air from Jimmy's on

(04:22):
first on Friday. We went off the here at three o'clock,
right about first pitch of game six, Game five, sorry,
game five, So we went off the air right about
first pitch, and obviously we know what happened Friday, but
there's been another game since then, so it's you know,
there's like where do you start? And then I started
thinking about the magnitude of tonight and what it means.

(04:44):
And I was trying to make you know, I'm just
talking to people over the weekend, and and you know,
people my age and have been Mariners fans literally since
day one, since nineteen seventy seven.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
That's a long ass time, man, it's a long time.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
And I think you know what this game, what this
one game means to so many people in our area,
so many people in our community. It's hard to put
into words. I'm gonna try, but it's hard to put

(05:17):
into words. The magnitude of this game is such we
here in Seattle, I think a lot of times kind
of feel slighted and.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Warranted or not. I don't know. The perception is reality,
and we feel a little slighted.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
We've put a lot of love and a lot of money, tickets,
con sessions, whatever, but a lot of love, passion, time,
and energy into trying to love our baseball team that
if we're being honest, for forty nine years, rarely ever
has shown that same love back, and not just with

(05:58):
wins and losses, but investing in.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Tea I think, but yet, what you're saying.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
But investing in the not just not just wins and losses,
but investing in the team, investing, you know, I mean
jumping ship and bailing on their regional sports network, laying
people off. There's a lot of things that have happened
off the field, but on the field, we've invested a
lot too, and often more often than not, almost all
the time, we've come away disappointed. And at the end

(06:24):
of the year in every sport, only one fan base
comes away not disappointed. That's whoever wins a super Bowl,
NBA title, Stanley Cup, or World Series, or in football
or college sports, whether it's March Matt you win the
NCAA tournament, or you win the college football playoff. Every
other fan base is in some ways disappointed. But there
are different levels of disappointment. Losing but going further than

(06:46):
you ever had before, that's fine, and that's good. But
what does this mean tonight? To erase that stigma that's
been in that stink frankly, that's been attached to this
franchise since nineteen seventy seven of quote and being the
only franchise I've ever been in, to the World Series,
to erase that would be huge. It's a burden off

(07:06):
everyone's shoulders, and it's also the joy that this team,
the joy that this team has given this community and
this fan base is is like nothing I've ever seen.
And I you know, listen, I was in Portland when
the Blazers were really good. I was in Salt Lake

(07:27):
when the Jazz went to the finals. And that's the
only thing I can kind of compare it with is
when the Jazz went to the finals. I was there
for the last part of the first one and then
the whole second year they went to the finals. And
it's close to that because everyone is just like living
on pins and needles with every game in a long series,

(07:51):
and it just seems like the ebbs and the flows
and the ups and the downs and all the stress
and involved with the series, they just come. You know,
they've fled you with emotions. You're exhausted at the end
of a game. You're exhausted at the end of a series.
The difference is this, the Jazz were really good for
a long time leading up to those two.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
Years, and.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
They they I mean the stock Them alone era with
Jerry Salone as our coach, they're really good. And they
kind of felt like they were always in the cusp
of it and there was a little less I think
I think there's more of an acceptance of, hey, we
belong here. Merrira fans, I don't think you always believe
your team belongs where they are right now. They do, though,
good lineup went out and the front office did everything

(08:33):
they could. They went out and got what they needed
to get. And so now it's on the players and
Dan Wilson and his staff tonight to finish it off,
to get to the World Series. And then you take
your chances against what looks to be an absolute wagon
and so be it. But what this game means tonight
for so many fans, whether you've been a fan for
one year, ten years, thirty years, or forty nine years,

(08:56):
it just doesn't matter. What it means tonight is indescribable
to this area. And the cool thing about it is,
and we've talked about this numerous times in this show,
the pride, the coming together for our community has really been.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
A fun thing. It watching the team support each other.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
Well, that part's a different thing, but I'll get to
that in a second. The part that I like here
is this people that probably have very different beliefs. Maybe
you were marching in a you know, no King's rally,
on Saturday. Maybe you were completely opposed and disgusted by
the thought of a No King's rally. You know what, though,
you might be sitting next to that same person at

(09:37):
te Mobile Park and you both are wearing a let's
go win this effing thing right now t shirt from
Simple Seattle. You're all on the same page. They bring
us together.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
This franchise is team, not the franchise.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
This team, this likable team with Julio and Cal and
JP and the whole group, Nailer, gino, good vibes. Only
God could happen to a better guy on Friday, know
is the answer. Absolutely no is the answer. He's the
best guy that could have done that. They've all brought
us together. I don't want it to end. I don't
want it to end for that reason. I don't want

(10:10):
to go back to what we were before this. I
want this to continue where we're all Mariners fans. You know,
when the Canucks went to the Finals in twenty eleven,
we were carrying the games here on the station. They
had a saying it's like we are all Canucks and
it's been cool open with youtubo song. Yes weet has
no names, but it's like we are all Canucks, and
I think what we are, we're all Mariners right now.

(10:30):
And it's been fun. It's been really really cool. And yeah,
you Jess, you mentioned it. Yeah, seeing the other teams
come through, the Crack had just flat out troll Toronto.
That's what they did. They trolled them.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
They just they absolutely trolled them.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
They came in off the bus guys wearing If you
missed it, on Saturday, Cracking played in Toronto. The Cracking
players get off the bus on the game for the game,
all wearing jerseys. After the game, Laine Lambert wears a
Mariner jersey and they ask him why and he says, because,
you know what, Josh Naylor supported us.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
He's wearing our jersey. We're boarding them. That's what we're doing. Yeah.
I love that.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
I absolutely love that. And this is for players and coaches.
It doesn't matter because they're not worried about the business
side of sports. But the reality is this, all three
of those top teams, the three pro teams, three main
pro teams, all do respect the Sounders in the Storm.
Those three teams, they compete for corporate dollars, they compete
for advertising dollars, They compete for ticket dollars. But they're

(11:23):
all together. They understand. The boat rises with greatness all
the way around. And the last time the Marriors went
to the playoffs three years ago. That same year, both
the Crack and the Seahawks went to the playoffs the
last time as well. It's kind of fun when this happens.
But I don't want this thing to end. I don't
want this thing to end. I don't want it to end. Tonight,
we're gonna talk about it.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
My god.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Here it is on the nineteenth, no, sorry, the twentieth
of October, and we are still mollywopping. Who better to
preview Game seven of the Alcs?

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Who better? I ask?

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Nobody think Chris Crawford and Nathan Bishop. They are coming
up next.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
It's Monday, and that means one thing. It's time to

Speaker 3 (12:35):
I'm gonna be honest with you. For about twenty seconds.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
I was more offended by that last iHeart podcast promo
that I heard, more offended than I've ever been. And
that includes every Sarah Spain one basketball and the Ukraine
or Yugoslavia.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
Whatever the hell it is. Think it was the Philippines.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Thank you, these that that that I know our listeners
don't care about, but to throw a Dodger specific podcast
on and then and then my anger went away because
I thought it's a sign, it's a sign from above.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Oh, iHeart is trolling.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Us because they know they know what's inevitable San Antonio
headquarters down there. iHeart Central shoving Dodgers podcast down our
throats in Seattle, while seemingly initially offensive. No no, no, no,
they're getting us ready. They're getting us ready for Game

(13:43):
one on Friday, is what they're doing. That's what it is.
I'm giving corporate credit here, that's what it is. We
replaced all the other ones, you know, the Grave Digger
podcast and all the other great ones that you know
know with a Dodger specifics podcast in seatt Why because
it's inevitable.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
A West Coast world series. Ladies and gentlemen, that's what
it is.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
Let's go, huh, let's go, so tune into iHeart. Get
that podcast ready after you get finished with tonight. Here

And for the one for the next series as well,
all at simply Seattle dot com. Nathan is here, Chris
is here, opening statements, and then we'll go from there. Nathan,
go ahead.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
I was trying to think of the best way to
talk about this, and it feels like you're emotionally hedging
when I say something like, Man, I'm just so glad
that we get to be here in this moment, and
I'm so excited for our show. I think about how
far our show is coming in. Like you, you reference
all the time, the circumstances under which this show began,
our little show, and it came in one of the

(14:59):
darkest moments for the organization, one of the darkest times
for my fandom, and a moment when I really contemplated
whether I could continue to be a Mariners fan, and
had nothing to do with winning and losing. It just
had to do with could I in good conscience as
somebody who has standards for myself, and how what the
things I think that I can root for? Can I

(15:19):
continue to root for this team in good conscience? And
We've come so far now in so many ways, and
I think it's really fitting and just very very special
that we're sitting here talking. In some ways, I'm almost
glad they lost last night because it would be a
great celebration today. But to be on the cusp here,
all of us together, and to have this much hope,

(15:40):
this much tension, this much just raw energy, and I
feel it. I'm sure you guys do too. Every single
place you go, every person you talk to, I don't
remember the last Actually I do.

Speaker 5 (15:52):
I shouldn't use a cliche.

Speaker 4 (15:54):
I remember exactly when the last time was when I
saw this many, this much Mariners stuff out in public,
thirty years ago. That's what I remember. That's the feeling
that we've been chasing. If you're Chris's age or older,
Chris and I's age are older. This is the feeling
that we've been chasing, and it hasn't been being right,

(16:14):
it hasn't been being proven smart. It's just been this
sense of possibility and the sense of no matter what
anybody else thinks about all the other stuff, because, like
Ian you said, we are in a very divisive time
in our country, but everyone that you see is united
right now in one thing, and it's just the coolest

(16:35):
feeling in the world. And it's not that like, I'm
not gonna be devastated if they lose today. This is
not a failure. If they lose this game tonight, all
it is is an opportunity to keep telling this awesome story,
a victory. Just keeps telling this amazing thing that's been
going on for the past month and a half, something
that we will remember for the rest of our lives,

(16:56):
and that our children now Ian, you and I specifically,
we have children that are of an age that have
never experienced this before. They are now getting that feeling
that you and I had thirty years ago, and in
thirty years they will be passing this down to their
kids and chasing this same feeling. I'm just overwhelmingly happy
and grateful to be here that said, let's go win

(17:17):
a damn ball game and get to the World Series.

Speaker 5 (17:20):
Chris Crawford, Ah, boy, Vick, you sure all right?

Speaker 6 (17:24):
It is unscripted because I have I have no idea
what to say, Like, I have no freaking clue.

Speaker 5 (17:32):
You know.

Speaker 6 (17:33):
I was talking to Nathan before we started about how
I'm not nervous. I feel kind of good about this.
I think it's more excitement than antic or anticipation than dread.
Oh the dread started kicking in about thirty seconds ago.

(17:53):
I don't want this to end. I just don't want
this to end, and I never wanted to end. Every
time The Mary and Her season ends, I get sad.
I get sad for my grandma. My grandma has nothing
to watch. She's all alone in her house and there
is nothing to watch. She tells me every day, what
the hell am I gonna watch when the Mariners end?
And I give her a list of programs, and she

(18:15):
just gives me this look on her face, like I
just offered my dog a piece of broccoli, Like, what
are you talking about? There's nothing interesting here. She wants
this to keep going so bad, and I wanted to
keep going so bad. For her, But I'll be selfish.
I want this to keep going too. I want to
keep getting checks from Locked On. We get paid by game.

Speaker 5 (18:34):
I want to keep getting that money.

Speaker 6 (18:36):
Why I do want everyone to appreciate this because it's
a rare thing, and I think everyone knows it's where.
It's literally the first Game seven in Seattle may in
her history. So you appreciate it from that, but appreciate
this moment that you're here right Like, remember where you
are from Game seven, even if it ends up being

(18:57):
an absolute disaster, Remember where you were because these are
those cognitive memories that you're going to one, especially if
you're fortunate enough to be watching a game with your
grandma or fortunate enough to watch with your kids, they're
fortunate to watch with your best friends, You'll always remember this.
No matter what happens tonight, you will always remember this.

(19:18):
And no, it's not an excuse if they lose that.
I it's just a good memory. I'm gonna be pissed
off if they blow this. I'm gonna be pissed off.
But I will always remember where I was for Game seven.
I'll always remember where I was for and getting a
chance to talk about game seven on kJ R before
it is the coolest.

Speaker 5 (19:36):
Frickin thing in the entire world. It's awesome. Let's go.

Speaker 3 (19:43):
Did you download the Dodger podcast yet?

Speaker 6 (19:45):
Oh yeah, twice? Okay, but I have to listen to
all the Filipino podcast first. There's just let you know,
I'm gonna.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Finish basketball the Philippines with Cassidy Hubbers. Yes.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
Uh, I'm telling you. I think it's a sign. That's
the first time I've heard that promo play. I think
it's a sign. The Chris, let me get to and Nate,
You're right real quick, like it is wild how far.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
We've all come.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
And the wildest thing is when we first started doing this,
and even the first year we did, when we got
to when we got pasted to Kevin mat apart and
we're just talking baseball, right, we were just those just
talking baseball. Then the World Series seems so far away,
like even the year they went to the playoffs and
three years ago, it just felt so far away. And

(20:28):
and Chris, I'll start with you. Yeah, the fact that
we're you know, I'm not quite I know what Nate's
saying about. It's kind of fun that we have a
game seven to talk about and all that today. It
would have been fun to be talking about Game one instead.
But but I see what I see where I track
with what you're doing there. It is it is, there's
a game something special. Never have a game seven in

(20:49):
Seattle baseball history is something special.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
But Chris, as I.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
Look at this game tonight, I have this calm about
me as telling names of earlier I just think Seattle's
better and seven game series and almost every sport it
seems like the best team always wins if it goes seven.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
I think Seattle's better. Are they better? And why?

Speaker 5 (21:09):
I think that they are better?

Speaker 6 (21:13):
In some ways, like I do believe that you know,
as bad as George Kirby was in Game three and
as good as Shane Bieber was in his start, I
still think they have the pitching advantage there.

Speaker 5 (21:24):
I have a lot of faith in George Kirby. I
loved what I saw from him in Detroit.

Speaker 6 (21:28):
I also think Dan Wilson also kind of let him
wear it a little bit in that last one. I
expect a much better effort from George Kirby this time.
I think they have the better bullpen. I feel a
lot more confident in the arms that are coming in
after Kirby than I do the Blue Jays coming in
after Bieber. And I also just feel and if you're
in Toronto maybe you feel the exact same thing. There's

(21:52):
a bit of a team of destiny thing here that
you just kind of feel like it's supposed to be.
And I felt like that, especially after they won Game
five against Detroit, like this is supposed to happen, but
it's not supposed to be easy. It's not supposed to
be it'd be kind of boring if it was. I
would take winning just all eleven games they would have

(22:12):
played this year. I would have taken it, and they
would have gone down as one of the greatest postseason
of all times.

Speaker 5 (22:17):
Blah blah blah. I just feel like Seattle. Seattle has
something to them, that the players on this team have
something to them. Maybe they're not quite as talented of
an everyday lineup as Toronto is. Toronto's got some guys,
but I do feel like that there's something to Seattle
on top of the pitching advantage. So they should win tonight.

(22:40):
I absolutely believe that they should win tonight.

Speaker 4 (22:43):
Nathan, You know, I was thinking about how nervous I
am and how nervous I know all of us are.
And I keep thinking back to that fifth game in
Detroit and how they let that dumb humpy fish win
his stupid race for the first time one hundred and
sixty five games in the fifteenth inning. And the thing
that stood out for me with that, by the way
they did it a second time, which was really dumb.

(23:03):
But anyway, that's not either here nor there. What I
think back to is watching the guys in the dugout
when that fish won that race, get excited and start celebrating,
and it's like these idiots aren't feeling the pressure even
a little bit. They're watching fish races in the fifteenth
inning of Game five of the Alds. There is a
mindset to them. They have that goldfish memory thing from

(23:26):
Ted Lasso, where they there is no baggage from anything
that came before, and there should and that's good because
yesterday was probably the worst game they played as a
team in the entire postseason. They played a poor game
yesterday and all facets of the game. To answer your question, Ian,
if I had to choose, I think if we're talking matchups,

(23:48):
the specific way that the Toronto Blue Jays do. Offense
feels like it was designed in a laboratory to impact
the way that Seattle Mariners starting pitchers tried to go things,
which is to pound the strike zone and limit walks.
It just doesn't matter when a team is just allergic
to swinging and missing and won't swing anything off the plate,

(24:09):
which is what this Blue Jays lineup feels like they
do one through nine. That said, the Mariners have an
ability that the Blue Jays don't quite have, and that
is to explode with home runs. And in that way,
they are definitely a better team than Toronto. And when
the Mariners have one in this series, it has been
that way. It has been the big bang that has

(24:29):
happened at the right time. And that's a really boom
and bust experience, because like yesterday, you get the bases
loaded and you're like, here it comes, here comes that
explosion that just bears the opponent and they hit into
three double plays and it just doesn't work out. But
I think that in some ways, the way that probabilities
work and the way that averages tend to work out

(24:50):
over time, the Mariners are going to keep giving themselves opportunities.
Today they've done it all seven games, and all it
takes when you have this kind of an offense is
one bad pitch. Thing I'm looking for in this game
and the thing I want to see I want to
see a first inning home run from somebody in the Mariners.
I know that hasn't helped that much in this series
at this point, but I think, given the way the
environment is going to be in that stadium, if they

(25:12):
can seize control and get ahead by a couple of
runs early in the game with George Kirby going on
the hill, I just really like their chances.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
I read, Yeah, I think the magnitude of the game
maybe earlier. Her home run doesn't matter. The home run
is is interesting one. We've talked about that on this show,
mostly because I referenced my Weekly Business with Joe Shian, who, well,
Chris is a baseball perspectus.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
What was his first what.

Speaker 5 (25:37):
Was the he started baseball perspective?

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Yeah, yeah, kind of the the the ground floor of
the analytical world in a lot.

Speaker 3 (25:43):
Of ways, and the new stats for baseball.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
And I remember when we had had the conversation back
in July about the Mariner's reliance on home runs on
this show.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
On a Monday.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
I remember the next day we asked, I asked Joe
about it, and he comes back and he says, listen,
it's not that. It seems like it should be concerning,
but it's not. And then he says, but if you
get to the playoffs, it's actually a positive. And he
brought up the numbers last week again, he said, you know,
the teams historically, now the Yankees were the exception this year,
getting knocked out, you know, early. But he said that

(26:16):
the teams that have gone on and had success in
baseball playoffs have been teams that hit home runs because
it's harder to string together big innings.

Speaker 3 (26:26):
Right that favorite.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
Seattle does it not Chris like Seattle's offense and that
ability to explode, whereas if Toronto's going to string together
a bunch of hits, maybe you Can's that's where this deep, deep,
the deepest bullpend you'll ever have in the history of baseball,
gives you an advantage tonight.

Speaker 5 (26:45):
Right sure.

Speaker 6 (26:46):
And I think that the other thing that the Seattle
Mariners have is to their advantage is one of the
reasons it's harder to string together hits in the postseason
is because you're seeing new pitchers come in all the time.
You're seeing a new look. You are not seeing somebody
get the chance to wear it like George Kirby did
in Game three. It's still why it pisses me off
that George Kirby got the chance to wear it in

(27:07):
game three. But you're seeing a bunch of guys. And
here's the thing for Seattle, outside of Logan Gilbert, everyone
should be available for that bullpen. Everyone should be able
to give them a look. Brian Wu, Logan, Brian Wu,
Luis Castillo, Bryce Miller on top of Kirby, on top
of a fresh Andres Munos, on top of a relatively

(27:31):
fresh Eduard bizarre O. Even throwing through two winnings, I
think he'll be fine for that game that matters. And
on the other side of that spectrum, Toronto has a
bunch of guys who can leave the ball in the
middle of the park and Seattle has some of the
best pop in the entire league.

Speaker 5 (27:47):
So yeah, it does matter.

Speaker 6 (27:49):
Because those solo ding dongs are going to matter an
awful lot in these types of games. Those chances to
hit those round trippers against pitchers who can give them up,
including Shane Bieber, who you saw Julio hit a two
run homer against in Game three. There is absolutely an
advantage to being able to hit the ball over the fence.
It's why the Dodgers are going to be so scary

(28:10):
starting on Friday. But the Seattle Mariners have the advantage there,
and it's a great advantage to have Chris.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
Let's just talk the arms and real fast again. So
it's Kirby and then it's whoever else. How much pressure
is on Dan Wilson tonight to make the right call.

Speaker 6 (28:30):
So much this is his I mean, this is his
biggest game. It's not even close. This is his biggest game.
As you know, any type of member of the organization,
no one's ever faced this. But he's going to have
to be so impatient with pitchers tonight. You cannot wait
and see if George Kirby has it tonight. You cannot

(28:51):
wait and see if Brian wu if you bring him
in the game, has it. Same with Luis Castillo. You
gotta have guys getting ready. As those guys get in
the game, you have to You just simply cannot. You
cannot wait for Game eight. It doesn't exist. Dan Wilson
has to be impatient. If George Kirby looks great, sure,

(29:11):
let him keep going for a little bit. But the
first sign of trouble from George, you've gotta be ready
to go to the bullpen. If I'm being completely honest
with you, this is my biggest concern is Dan Wilson.
It's a first year manager making decisions like this.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
Now.

Speaker 6 (29:26):
John Schnider's never done it either, and John Schneider has
not exactly shown.

Speaker 3 (29:30):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (29:31):
Ask Toronto fans how they feel about Brendan little pitching
to cal Rawley.

Speaker 5 (29:35):
Go ahead and ask if they're big fans of what's
going on there as well. But this is my biggest concern.

Speaker 6 (29:40):
It's a first year manager who has shown a a
little bit of too much patience. I think with his
pitching at times he can't. Tonight, he flat out cannot.
Everybody has to be ready to go.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
I gotta get to a break, Nathan, real quick. Do
you agree? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (29:56):
I do.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
I'm terrified. I wrote before.

Speaker 4 (29:58):
I think in the middle of September the at some
point Dan Wilson in the playoffs was going to make
you crawl on your ceiling. And I just stand by that.
And that's not even a shot at Dan necessarily. It's
just the stakes combined with the inexperience are just it's
gonna make your heart rate it about one hundred and
ninety beats per minute.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
Matter what, imagine what his this? All right, We'll take
a break, come back. All bought to you by simply

error playoff gear license and simply original designs in stock

Speaker 3 (30:25):
We'll put a rap on things coming up next.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
From the R and R Foundation Specialist broadcast Studio. Now
back to Ian Furnesz powered by Seattle's Close to the Sports Book,
Snow Quality Casino and Hotel on Sports Radio ninety three
point three kJ R FM.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
I'm coming up on the Dave Softy Mall or Dig
Fine Extravaganza to twenty.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
Brent Burnt Boon will be with the boys and three.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
O'clock Hugh Mill and well football conversation. All right, we
do have a lineup, gentlemen. We have a little bit
of a change in the lineup, little tweak to the lineup.
We'll be just bang through it real quick. Who will
leads off center? Field, cal catching hitting second. Naylor moves
up in the order, hitting third, playing at first base. Polocker,
your DH is your cleanup hitter. A Rosarin is still

(31:19):
hitting five after getting dropped out of that top spot
left field, Gino third base, hit six, seventh is Crawford
at shortstop. Adding eighth is Reeve Boss at second, and
Victor Roblaz takes Tom can Zone spot he is in
right field. Quick thought and eighth Chris on the on
the lineup, Yes, no, good, bad.

Speaker 5 (31:38):
Yeah, it's the right thing to do.

Speaker 6 (31:39):
Not only has dominic Canzone been horrible with the bat,
there's just so much shaky moments with the glove. I
know Robla has made one mistake, but this is the
lineup that they should have put out.

Speaker 3 (31:50):
Today, Nate.

Speaker 4 (31:53):
Yeah, I can't watch dominic Canzone run around in the
right field anymore. And that's not saying he's a useless
baseball player, just his uses are not in right field,
his uses with the bat, and it's not there in theory. Yes, yeah, right,
like yeah, Well, Chris and I were talking off airy.
I mean, if there's a high leverage spot with guys
in the right and you know, second and third and

(32:13):
a right handed pitcher on the mound. I can absolutely
see Canzone getting a pinch hit appearance and being mostly
okay with that. But he doesn't need to be playing
right field every single day, especially given the way that
he's hitting right now.

Speaker 5 (32:23):
It's just not a good fit.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
I want to I want to keep the good vibes
only seam going to wrap things up here in the
last couple of minutes. Good vibes only, Baby, good vibes
only on the postcast, Chris and Anders do unsung heroes,
unsung villains, all that stuff. Let's just give me, give me.
Mark brought this up earlier to me. But but Chris,
who's the star tonight? Who's the reason? Give me the

(32:45):
guy that's the whether it's unsung or out of nowhere,
is the reason. I mean, yeah, maybe Cal hit a
home run, but but who's the Who's the guy tonight
that gets us to Friday.

Speaker 5 (32:55):
I'm gonna go with Josh Naylor.

Speaker 6 (32:57):
I think Josh Naylor is gonna have a really big
game today, and he had a big game yesterday.

Speaker 5 (33:01):
He was one of the few. I think Josh Naylor
is going to be that guy.

Speaker 6 (33:04):
I think Josh Naylor gets a couple of hits, hits,
a home run, steals a key bag, doesn't make the
silly base running mistake that he made on Thursday.

Speaker 5 (33:13):
I think Josh Naylor will be that.

Speaker 3 (33:15):
Guy, Nathan.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
It would have been perfect on Friday if that would
have been a clincher, because Gino would go down in
all time, right, I mean the Grand Slam would have been, Yeah,
the all time greatest single moment in Mariner history, all
due respect to the double. That would have been it
if that would have been a clinching game. It wasn't,
but it got is to where we are today in
Game seven. So who is your guy? Who's the intangible
player of the undsung that's going to come out and
that next in ten years will say, Man, remember Game

(33:38):
seven and Blank did that?

Speaker 5 (33:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (33:41):
I love that question.

Speaker 4 (33:42):
That's gonna be a I'm going to do the Alex
Dias Memorial Award here and give it to my boy,
Leo Rivas. Speaking about making bad choices on the base paths,
he needs to not do that, which he's done a
couple of times in this series. But I will say
things I love about Leo. He's got a little bit
more pop than you think he does. He almost put
one out yesterday. He probably he has, next to JP Crawford,
the most consistent bats as far as knowing where the

(34:04):
strike zone is in the entire lineup, and he's definitely
their best defensive middle infielder on the roster right now.
I'm loving He's already had his moment in the Alds
where he tied up that game in the fifteen marathon
that we had. But I think he's gonna smack a double.
I think it's gonna tie up the game in the
late innings for the Marins. He's gonna put it right
down the right field line in about the seventh. So

(34:25):
that's my call for an unsung hero.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
And that's what That's what Game sevens are about, though, guys,
And that's why I bring it up like that's Game
sevens are about.

Speaker 3 (34:32):
This.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
Game sevens are about a hero, and we're hoping the
hero is on the Seattle side. Obviously, that's what we're
hoping for. It's on the skip. But that's what a
Game seven is for Seattle. Three to zero all time
in winner take all games, all those have been best
of fives. Game sevens a totally different beast. Chris final
words from you before you get your postcast tonight, which
is I'm expecting to be a very pleasant one with

(34:54):
you and Anderson Hurst. Some final thoughts heading into Game seven.

Speaker 6 (35:01):
I just I wanted to keep going, and I think
it will. I wanted to keep going, and I think
it will.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
Nathan, I want to talk about, whenever this rite ends,
about how many of you're going to rank the top
ten moments in Mariner's history. How many of them have
happened in the last three weeks. Yeah, I think that's
a conversation for another show because the story is not
finished yet. I'm just hoping we get another one of
them tonight.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
That game.

Speaker 4 (35:27):
I have had more fun watching this team the last month.
It has meant more to me as a sports fan
than any experience in my adult life. And it's not
even particularly close. It laps the field. So today, tomorrow,
a week and a half, whenever it ends, I'm just
happy to be here.

Speaker 3 (35:43):
Man.

Speaker 4 (35:44):
I'm having the absolute time of my life. I hope
that everybody listening finds somewhere to be with other people
to watch this game. Go somewhere and be among other
human beings. Do not watch this game by yourself. The
experience is so much better with other people. So that's it, man,
That's well said. Because I brought this up the other day.

Speaker 2 (36:04):
I've watched more baseball with my wife in the last
couple of weeks, and I've missed chunks of games. I
was on the road on Saturday in Portland. I was,
you know, so Friday night, I was on the road,
and you know, the krack and stuff.

Speaker 3 (36:17):
You know, I miss some.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
But I've watched more baseball with my son and even
my wife than I ever thought I would. She's become
a fan, and I think that's the best thing about this.
And Nathan, what you said is true. I'll give you
some hints. Jimmy's on first. Where the boys will be today,
Snowpalm Casino, which is our sponsor, the ALCS and all
of our baseball coverage. Chuck and Bucky, you'll be doing
the postgame show, Baseball's Best post Game right afterwards, get

(36:39):
up to Snow callalm Me Casino, Hawk's Peak.

Speaker 3 (36:40):
Watch it up there the halls.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
Take your pick, Moss Bay, Queen Anne, Beer Hall or
occidental next to Lubinfield. My man, Justin and Gariel treat
you right, softy, talks about him all the time, but
they supported my golf tournament. I love this place, Brad
and Company down at Twin Peaks, Nathan, You're right. Go
find a place watch the game tonight, celebrate with other
Mariner fans and boys.

Speaker 3 (37:03):
Be on call.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
An emergency session could happen at any time when we're
talking about that next series, which has to do with
a global thing.

Speaker 3 (37:11):
I don't know what the word is exactly. I won't
use it right now. Dave Softy Maar, Dick fin coming
up next to you for the mild mannered and marginally
objectionable Inverness. This is paddle Day, saying so long everyone,
