Speaker 2 (00:06):
Brought to you by Frost Brewed cors I choose Chill.
M's front office spoke to the media today in a
post mortem of the season. Our own Jessmon McIntyre was there.
We'll also here from President Baseball Operations Jerry Depoto in
just a couple minutes as well. Speaking of the MS,
cal Rawley, Jorge Polaco Huilo Rodriguez been named as finalists
for the Silver Slugger Award this season. MS are also

(00:26):
named as the finals for the American League Team of
the Year. There probably should just be two finalists. That
would be the two teams in the ALCS, Right, Am
I wrong about that?

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Jess?

Speaker 2 (00:33):
Like, wouldn't that make sense? And yeah, the team the
al Stans should be the play team of the Air. Yeah,
we'll hang it Becker okay, Seal Krack and take on
the winning Big Jets five o'clock night they round out
and finish up their six game Roady four thirty pre
game right here in your home for the Kracket nine

Speaker 4 (00:52):
So like testing me already, I figured you were met
at me for not putting it in yesterday.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Listen, this is we We were very specific. Yes, we
refuse to talk unless something happens. Didn't quite have this
on the Bengal car. But Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey
Billups Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier arrested as part of
an FBI's ongoing gambling probe This morning. Solid, really good,
well done, Well done, Adam Silver. All right, let's get

(01:19):
the show we've been inundated with. You know, got a
talk Mariners pre game, blah blah blah and all that,
and then all of a sudden, my guy, Brandon Fundstin
gets pushed to the sideline. We don't have fundst It
on and so that's not good. Even though you have
people calling you, I don't know if you were here
Thursday last week, or if it was.

Speaker 5 (01:33):
And or somebody at the game, or.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
They're like the phone's ringing, it's people calling. No, No,
the phones are back open today, coming up at two o'clock.
Your questions for Brandon Fundstin. Texts are already coming in
at four nine, four or five to one. We're halfway
through the Fantasy football season, there's panic in the air.
We'll get to all of that coming up later on.
All right, So that's number one. Jerry Depoto went a second.

(01:55):
Jess was down there for their end of the year.
It's kind of weird how.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
They did it. Get to that in a second too.
What are we doing here?

Speaker 5 (02:02):
It's just like it.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
I know what they're doing. They're protecting people.

Speaker 6 (02:09):
But I get it.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
Okay, we move on. We'll get to that in a second.
So let me explain as I had to to Mark
a second ago. And this is how we did refuse.
This is how we do refuse to talk. We don't
talk about the day to day games on the diamond.
That was ten years ago when the Mariners were awful.
I think it was actually eleven years ago, the year
before Jerry got here, before Gerald and company rolled into town.

(02:30):
We just couldn't do it anymore. We couldn't do it
in July. We couldn't keep just because all it was
just killing the baseball team daily. That wasn't fun. We said,
when something happened significant, we'll talk about it, but we're
not talking about the daily games. And and then you know,
my guy's softy. I remember coming in that crosstalk.

Speaker 6 (02:45):
Dad, what are you doing?

Speaker 7 (02:47):
I don't get it.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
What the hell? What happens?

Speaker 2 (02:49):
I said, If something happens that we need to discuss,
that's that's significant. We will and I think I don't know,
probably a week later someone got fired, traded, or what
we did. That's how you refuse the talk works, I
said yesterday on the show, I refuse to talk about
the NBA. I'm sick of how they've treated this market,
the city, especially over the last twelve months. It's just

(03:10):
been embarrassing our fan base, our city, our community deserved
better from Adam Silver's league. I don't care about the
little show that used to be on TNT that is
now on ESPNYA team who cares.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Don't care.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Let me know when someone relocates here or becomes an
expansion team here. Until then, refuse to talk unless something
significant happens. As I told MJ, I was thinking that
would be I don't know, relocation of a team, expansion talk,
something tangible.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
That would matter to us here in Seattle.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Not how many points a guy had last night or not,
who sat out because of a maintenance day or whatever
else we do in the NBA. No, I didn't have
this one out there. I don't think anybody had. Chauncey
Billups arrested, former or well current Portland Trail Basers head coach,
NBA Hall of Fame or NBA champion arrested as part
of the FBI's ongoing gambling probe. Also arrested for the

(04:05):
second time. Terry Rozier, who got off at the first time.
Thought he was Scott free. Apparently not. Fella, You're also
in trouble. This also feels like the tip of the iceberg,
does it not?

Speaker 4 (04:17):
Like?

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Are those the only two guys involved?

Speaker 2 (04:20):
There's no way, Adam, you got a problem on your hands.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Fella. Mark brought it up earlier.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
And I think it's an interesting I didn't think about
it initially in these regards. Okay, does this affect it
all any timelines for expansion and relocation whatever?

Speaker 8 (04:40):
Mark?

Speaker 2 (04:40):
When Mark brought that up, I'm like, come on, MG,
what are you talking about? Why would that have anything? No, Because,
as I've mentioned before, the one thing that the commissioner
of this particular league is really bad at is multitasking.
He just is, well, we can't talk about expansion until
we figure out what's going on in Europe. Well, we
can't talk about expansion until we figure out what's going
on in Mexico City. Okay, talk about expansion until we

(05:01):
get the X, Y and Z contracts done.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
Or figure out Vegas even Well.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
That's but that's part of expansion. So but all these things.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
So it's so, can he multitask with an ongoing FBI
indictment and investigation taking place in his league?

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Probably not?

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Probably not embarrassing, so embarrassing, so flipping embarrassing for this league.
And you know, listen, we all have our opinions on
Pete Rose, and it's taken forever to get past those opinions.
Chauncey's already in the Hall of Fame, He's already guy's

(05:38):
NBA ranks. I don't know what you can do to
them other than fire him. He's got enough money, I'm
sure to last a lifetime. Rosier probably has made enough
unless he lost it all gambling to the same thing.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Who cares.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
But this is a black guy and a bad one
for the for the National Basketball Association.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
So again, refuse to.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Talk an early test in an early early way for
us to define it exactly what it is. So I
guess maybe in some ways, I should think, uh Patel,
the FBI, Chauncey, Terry Rosier and all involved.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
And I can't wait to see who the other names are.

Speaker 5 (06:09):
I'm actually see this is why I thought you'd like it.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Yeah, well, I mean again, we're not talking about on
the floor, just talking about the stupidity off the floor.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
And I listen.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
I'm I've got a PhD in off the floor issues
with the NBA because I worked in Portland during the
jail Blazer aerosol I'm I'm the go to guy for that.
I am the guy you guys want to know what's
going on off I am the this is right up
my alley. I mean, Bonzie Rasheed, the whole quintel Woods,
all the all the fun stuff we had. My guy Damon,

(06:37):
who I love Damon Stott. Honestly I like Damon a lot. Damon,
you know the we'd whack weed wrapped in a foil
thing trying to go through security. Why, man, like, dude,
that doesn't work, doesn't work?

Speaker 6 (06:46):
How did you what are in high school?

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (06:49):
What did you get? Kind of education you get in Arizona? Anyway,
we move on from them. Okay, Uh, let's let's get
to the Maritor's front office, spoke to the media today,
kind of a weird and I remember jess and I
were talking about this yesterday, I think off the air
and I said, you know, we're trying to We're well
shorthanded right now. So I said, Jessica, you're gonna get
be able to get down there for the station and

(07:10):
record it. Mike's got hockey tonight, and much like Adam Silver,
he can't. No, I'm just skin I was gonna say,
you can't multitask.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
We love Mikey.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
I love Mikey to death, but we uh, I said,
just get down there because we're thinking that this is
going to be like their normal end of the year
post mortem right where they sit there on you know,
at a table, and it's kind of a formal press
conference setting, and questions are coming because MJ says yesterday
he goes, no one's gonna ask a hard question, and
I said, well, what questions you want to ask? I'm
sure those questions will probably get asked. I might, you know,

(07:41):
beg to differ with you in that regard, especially if
my guy Levine is there, and he was, but they
they decided that they weren't gonna do that. They weren't
gonna put everybody up on a table and people could
wrap in fire press conference questions because that has that, frankly,
has been where Jerry has got in trouble in the past.
That's where he's had his comments and his things and

(08:01):
his miscues and his missteps. And Dan would be sitting
there as well, so instead they put just paint the picture.
All three guys, Jerry, Justin and Dan spoke at the
same time.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Correct.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
Yeah, Usually you'd expect a podium situation, and this was
Ellis Pavilion, which is a large open event space that
is right inside the Mariners Stadium on the third base side,
and I've been there before for events, but it was
just a large open space and both Jerry Depoto, Justin Hollander,

(08:33):
and Dan Wilson were all talking at the same time,
and all the media members there would definitely have to
you know, be in one place at one time.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
That's and that's that's to protect probably Dan, is my guess,
because it's hard well because all here's you worked in TV.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
You know how it works. This is why this is
how it's protected.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Again, because a TV station is going to be unable
to send more the one camera down there, like they're
lucky to get one camera down there, you know how
it works.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
And Spall our own radio station was lucky to have
one person there. So yeah, there are.

Speaker 5 (09:05):
Multiple people for multiple multiple outlets.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
You're correct, but are one, but you're gonna get one,
like Nico's gonna have one camera, Aaron's gonna have one camera.
Kiro doesn't do sports anymore, so they don't matter. And
whoever's there for a king, they're gonna have one camera.
So you have to spread around you have, Well, Jerry's
the guy you want to talk to, because the bigger
picture is what matters, you know, and we're gonna get
to that in a second.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
It's that's what matters.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Well, So who's there to drill Dan Wilson about picture
usage three days later?

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Nobody?

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (09:30):
Or you gotta run over there and stuff. I just
I get what you're doing, heavily. Good job.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Actually, Like from a PR standpoint, that's like that's a class.
That's a master class and how to diffuse and try
to get away without having anybody torpedo your manager. That's
it it is, and I'd say that with all due respect,
it's a master class by by that group, because because
that's hard to do. Because number one, like I know,
people want to still go after Dan. We're past it.

(09:55):
Whatever the game's over, you can't change it. I think
the most thing and the most important person to hear
from is Jerry to Potal period d a story and
because this is it's the next step is what will
you do in the off season? Can you keep it going?
And we got about four and a half minutes here
of Jerry to Podle. We'll talk about it on the
other side, Jerry to Poodle with my guy Aaron Levigne,

(10:17):
who I think I asked the fifty four percent question,
if I'm not mistaken a few years ago asking the
first question Jerry to Potal about the off season the moose.

Speaker 9 (10:26):
The moves you made at the trade deadline clearly made
a difference. Obviously Josh and and Geno and down the
stretch in the playoffs. How much of a priority is
bringing well, let's start with Josh back next season.

Speaker 10 (10:36):
Yeah, obviously it's priority. And you know, we will take
a step back from where we are before we truly assess,
and we'll communicate with the players before we say anything publicly.
But you know, we're we're still, like I said, in
grief mode and so were they. But loved every minute
with those guys and with others who are pending free
agents or potentially pending free agents. And you know, we've

(11:00):
obviously been in planning mode and competitive mode and trying
to put together plans and rosters to win games. And
you know, we've discussed twenty twenty six and beyond, and
we do that fairly regularly, so it's not going to
sneak up on us, but it is appropriate to communicate.

Speaker 6 (11:16):
With those guys before we get publicly.

Speaker 9 (11:19):
You mentioned discussions about plans for twenty twenty six. What
do you anticipate payroll to be next year similar to
this year?

Speaker 10 (11:24):
Would I would say similar to where we ended the year,
you know, as a starting point. So you know, we
ended the season I think with the second highest our
highest payroll that we've ever had as a franchise. And
this was always the goal was to methodically build toward
what we were doing. And you know, I'm comfortable that
the resources that we're given, we're going to have every
ability to go out and put together a championship quality team,

(11:48):
and like we have in recent years, when we get
into the right position, I'm certain that we will be
aggressive and doing the next time.

Speaker 5 (11:57):
The deadline.

Speaker 8 (11:58):
Will you be able to do.

Speaker 11 (11:58):
That too next year?

Speaker 10 (12:00):
You know, we've always been able to do that. It's
a if I look back over these last five years,
you know, it's a it's we tend to just monitor
where we are, and in seasons like twenty two and
twenty four and twenty five, we lean in and a
lot of our team I said this toward the end.
There was a point in September this year where eleven
of our twenty six active players were acquired the trade

(12:22):
dead rack trades. So you know, in one way or
the other, we've always been a very active team in general,
but particularly active at the trade deadline. And you know,
and that's where that's where Nails and Gino and Randy
and the Rock and then I could go on Mooney
and Brash, they all came from that time on the
clock somewhere in the last five years. So we're in

(12:44):
and you know, and if it means you're acquiring you know,
real earners, guys like Gino or Josh or Louis Castillo
or Randy. You know, I think we've been in that
boat for a while now and the commitment that we
get from ownership is real. And you know, this year
the unique and this was that we added two of
those types of players and I think it shocked people.
But you know, we have the support of our ownership

(13:07):
group and they've always been open to us pushing in
and you know, we did push this this summer in
a way that maybe we didn't quite push before. But
we think that's again part of our roster building model
is to really lean into what we can access in
July and lean on our city, our ballpark, our fan base,
and our atmosphere to really help seal the deal because

(13:30):
it's the best recruiting tool.

Speaker 9 (13:31):
We have when you push like that in the middle
of the season and ownership seas the amazing magic that
happened at this ballpark and the next incredible success in
the brink of a World Series. Do you think the
effect of that to them kind of sends the message
of maybe we can feel a little bit more comfortable
extending our budget more than we're comfortable doing or do

(13:51):
you think that it only confirms their belief of now
we feel comfortable as a mid market team in terms
of payroll I don't know, because you.

Speaker 10 (14:01):
Can still Yeah, you'll have to ask somebody else that's
not you know, I can't answer, but to say that
the resources we've been given us put us right about
in the middle from a from a league perspective and payroll.
We've been very aggressive at trade deadlines to push in
when it's our time. We do have star players. We
have signed some of the big biggest extensions in recent

(14:23):
baseball history with with our center fielder especially and and
our catcher. We have that we have star power. We
pay our stars, we keep our players pay. I'm very
comfortable with the resources that we've been given and are.
We're not in a contest to see if we can
outspend somebody. Just make smart moves that put the best
team on the on the field back.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
All right, Jerry de poul just a little bit of
his twenty six minutes there today down at Tea Mobile
Park at the Ellis Pavilions. So just a couple of
quick thoughts and jeesfs, I'm gonna ask you to save that.
We'll probably play that those four men or so for
Nathan and Chris on Monday when we do our final mulliwops.

Speaker 6 (15:05):
The year.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
What I took out of what he said and listen,
I think Jerry's job is really hard for a couple
of reasons. One inherently, the job of a GM, for
any sports professional sports team is hard.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
It's just it's there's a lot to it.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
You've got to evaluate players, personnel, you got to work
within some sort of budget, whether it's a self imposed
budget like Baseball has, or a salary cap like the
other three leagues have, you've got. There's just a lot
to it that makes it hard. The other part that
makes it hard, especially for a guy like Jerry, is
that you know he's the face, and you know, people,
right or wrong, kind of perceive him as almost a

(15:42):
Siamese twin with with ownership.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
He's not.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
He doesn't make the decisions on how much money they're
gonna happen. He has to execute it. What I took
out of that was, I mean, yeah, we're probably still
a mid market spender, which is last year they were
around sixteen fifteen. It went up a little bit after
the trade deadline. They probably won't be any kind of
big player in free agency in the offseason, unless that
includes resigning Josh Naylor and boy he gave no indication

(16:08):
that it's a strong possibility or that it's not like
there's just in which he shouldn't. He needs to talk
to Josh and his people. I get that, I guess,
you know. I know he said that he's kind of
a priority.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
Of course he is.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
But we don't know, because we don't know if ownership
is going to allow him to sign Josh Naylor to
what most people believe will be somewhere between ninety and
one hundred and ten million dollars over five years. Probably
will he be allowed to do that, I don't know.
I don't think any Mariner fan wants to hear that
you're spending mid market money their medium or media market twelve.

(16:41):
If you don't have more money than fourteen fifteen, sixteen
seventeen market media market size, that's a you problem, because
you guys are the ones that basically ran what I'm
sitting into right now into the ground. Root Sports ran
an RSN into the ground.

Speaker 6 (16:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
Can blame Comcast all you want, and they certainly deserve
a lot of the blame. Does Exfinity Comcast? Certainly they do, Absolutely,
they do better programming, Better opportunities would have been probably
may have more lucrative RSN, but now you're going to
a cheaper model that doesn't generate the same revenue with
MLB TV. And so I kind of got the feeling

(17:19):
from listening to Jerry there that what we're going to see.
Hopefully they resign Naylor. That eliminates a lot of issues.
Polanco's going to opt for free agency. I don't think
it's I mean, if you can get Geno for the
right price, why wouldn't you bring them back, let them
dh them at first base if Nelor's needs a day off, right,
and but it sounds the thing that really was positive

(17:42):
that I liked a lot was yeah, they're going to
keep being aggressive of the trade deadline. The problem is
you have to be in it at the trade deadline.
They've got the core that they'll begin in ato the
trade deadline. That should be fine, but you know what
I'm saying, like they've got to be to really utilize
their strategy, which is being very great of the trade deadline.
You've got to be in contention at the trade deadline.

(18:03):
You can't be in a position of being a seller
and he'll guarantee you know, two or three injuries and
you may not be in that position next year. Yeah,
as opposed as opposed to loading up your roster in
the offseason.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
But it's hard.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
Just there's a part of me, god weird as it sounds.
That kind of fuels for Dipoto because he is truly
he's in a league that doesn't have a salary cap.
He is at the mercy of an ownership group that
does have a set that's it's self imposed. Yes, so
a self imposed salary cap is hard to work with,
all right. Ineno Saras has joined us all year from

(18:32):
the Athletic. We've loved having him on. It's been a
ton of fun, Rage and Barrels podcast and The Athletic.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
Theathletic dot Com will.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
Wrap up our regularly scheduled programming with Ineno Saras from
the Athletic.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
Coming up next, it's time for our weekly visit with

I myself just had a Dalton Fresh Hop ip a

(19:50):
yesterday and it was so good, so go check it out.

Speaker 3 (19:53):
Big thanks to Georgetown Beer.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
Hi.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
You know, how are you.

Speaker 6 (19:57):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (19:59):
Yeah, we're you kind of almost sound like us up
here in Seattle.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
You know, it's uh, you can imagine, buddy, it's uh,
it's it's not not good times up here. We're all
trying to trying to figure out what happened in game seven,
So I want to I want to get your thoughts
on that, and then we'll move ahead to bigger picture
items in just a couple of seconds. But free one lead,

(20:25):
uh you head down. Nine outs to go, and and
it fell apart for Seattle. What what were you thinking
as you're watching that? Now, what are you thinking a
couple days later?

Speaker 11 (20:33):
Well, I know what the conversation is, and you know,
I have my own little tidbit on it, which is,
you know, the Blue Jays the Mariners let relievers the
guys a third time in a playoff series twice as
often as the Blue Jays, So there was a difference
in philosophy, which basically, if you want to distill it is,

(20:57):
you know, Dan Wilson is gonna ride with his guys
Bizarroo brash Munos, where the Blue Jays were like, hey,
we're gonna throw Brendan little at cal rally even though
we have Hoffman available. And so you can see the
downfall of both approaches, which is Bizardo sees Springer three

(21:19):
times in one week, and he tries the same approach
each time, sinkers inside and it doesn't work the third time,
you know, and then Brendan Little cal really went deep
off him. So you know, there's flaws in both if
you look backwards. But the research does suggest that that
the third time a hitter sees a reliever in a series,

(21:41):
their ops goes up one hundred and forty points, and
so I would have avoided that situation. I probably would
have gone to Munos. And I know that that creates
the situation where Springer comes up again in the ninth
with Brash and Bizarredo available. But what I hope is
that in the ninth I don't have people on base.

(22:04):
Maybe that makes it better to go to Brash, who
my walk Springer and so on and so forth. But
Muno's never faced Springer in the series, and that just
seems weird, especially since Springer ended up deciding the series.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
First of all, that is why we have you on
the show. And i'bout being dead serious, and I'm being
dead serious in that because I had not heard Jess right,
I had not heard that explanation before. No, and and
the way you put it, because listen, the knee jerk
immediate reaction from fans is, what the hell, what's he doing?
Why is Bizarreto in there, et cetera. Why did we

(22:39):
start the inning? As you articulate, that was their philosophy.
They use their guys, how they used them, they stuck
with it. But the more you say that, I think
if you're a matter fan driving around you're listening to
EENI right now.

Speaker 3 (22:51):
You're like, oh my god, I knew Dan screwed that up.
But that wasn't just Dan.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
That sounds like that was an organizational probably philosophy, and
how they were used for relievers.

Speaker 11 (22:58):
In the ninth, you have had the go to Bizardo
or or Brash and both of them would have been
facing Springer a third time anyway. So some of it
has to do with how early you take out your pictures,
right but you're kind of screwed if you don't take
out your pictures early because there's a third time through
the order penalty with them. So I have a lot
of sympathy for him, and I'm not trying to bury
Dan Wilson, you know, that's that's not my intention. It's

(23:19):
just just sort of laying out my reasoning is, right
now there are two bass there's two people on base,
and so right now Munos who's never seen Springer, I
got to have him in here right now, and then
I hope that when Springer is up there, he sits
the solo home run in the ninth and we win
by one. You know. So yeah, that's that's just the
thinking process I would have gone through. And I just

(23:40):
think that we're just now figuring out about this reliever
familiarity effect, where you know, the more times you see
a reliever in a series. But to be fair, John Schneider,
when asked about why did he go to Brendon Little
against calorrally, he said, we need to change up the
looks on the middle of their order. So the Blue

(24:01):
Jays were a little bit more aware of it. And
I don't know if that was the difference. I mean,
you could say the strikeouts were a difference. The Mariners
struck out more, a lot more, But that's something that
the Mariners have known about. The Mariners have tried to
improve on their strikeout right, you know, year over year
for a few years now, and the park it works
against that, and so on and so forth. But I

(24:23):
think that will be part of their concern this offseason.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
Again, would would the last thing on just that before
I move ahead?

Speaker 3 (24:30):
Just would would it have been? And I mean, this
is your expertise.

Speaker 2 (24:34):
With the pitching world that we live in, especially with
some of the new numbers available as you just mentioned,
I know that like a guy like Castile or Bryce Miller,
you know, bringing them in in the middle of an inning.
Maybe not ideal, but maybe bringing them in at the
start of that inning or leaving Wu in there longer.
Would either one of those have been a better option,
do you think than bizarre?

Speaker 11 (24:54):
I mean this is where this is where feel comes in.
You know, the Blue jas are an excellent fastball hitting team,
and WU is all about fastballs, and to some extent,
Bryce Miller is as well. You know, could you have
brought Castillo in? You know, I kind of like Brash
against Springer because Springer is is really vulnerable to the

(25:16):
lone away sliders, and I think I might have just
had Brash just throw loan away slider after lonaway slider,
hoping to get some fishing. If he puts Springer on first,
then you're hoping for a double play, you know. I mean,
you're you're screwed a lot of different ways.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
Well, you lost, and you know, at the end of
you lost to a good baseball team, right like, I mean,
you lost baseball.

Speaker 11 (25:39):
And the one fun thing about the Blue Jays and
this this might hurt in the context of the Mariners
strikeout problem, but you know they were all year long
the best strikeout rate team in baseball. So there's a
lot of people being like, oh, it was small ball
that one. Except the difference is the Blue Jays, all
all of them except for one. All of them swung

(26:01):
their bats harder in the second half and in the
post season. So you take a team that makes a
lot of contact, and you add intent, you add the
intent to do damage, you add bat speed, and that's
where you get a team that not only struck out
less than everybody else in this postseason, but also slugged
better than everybody else in postseason. It's really kind of
a model in a way for the Mariners to think

(26:23):
about things, is can we get guys that make contact,
but not just like the early clements of the world, Like,
can we get guys that make contact and can add
power to that?

Speaker 2 (26:34):
You know, last thing in the marriage becase I'm gonna
ask you for a just a quick thought on the
World Series in a second. As painful as that may
be for Seattle fans here, there's still baseball fans out
here before I get to that matchup. So the thought
would be this, like, he get you finally cross that
threshold under Jerry to Poto, you get to the Alcs,
you win a division title. You've got a lot of

(26:55):
your core guys under contract. Now you've got to figure
out the nailor situation. Polanco's gonna opt out. What do
you do with Geno?

Speaker 3 (27:00):
Do you let them walk?

Speaker 2 (27:01):
All those things, so there's a few decisions in the
off season. The glass half full would be, you know, hey,
this team is just at the start of something. A
lot of people comparing it to the twenty twelve Seahawks.
It got to the second round of the playoffs and
you can see something special is there? They win a
super Bowl the next year. I know it's a different sport,
but that was kind of a comparison people have used.
The other thing. I would think this is glass half empty.

(27:23):
Me being Mariner fans in seventy seven, got to the
Baltimore Orioles. Are they going to fall apart after one year?
But that's injuries and other thing. So when you look
from thirty thousand feet, you know where this team is
heading into the off season and heading into twenty twenty six,
how optimistic or pessimistic should Mariner fans be?

Speaker 11 (27:41):
I feel pretty good, actually, I feel pretty good. The
you know, in terms of what you're losing off this roster.
You know, Polonco, Gino, Mitch Garver, you know, that's and
Josh Naylor, those the main ones. But it does look
like you have, you know, fifty million dollars maybe to spend.

(28:05):
And they did just make a bunch of money playing
in the playoffs. So if they go past where they
were last year, could you spend sixty or seventy million?
And if you if you spend sixty million dollars off season,
I think you come back with Naylor. I think you
come back with another bat, you know, on top of that,
and if you add two bats back and those two

(28:28):
bats make a lot of contact and hit the power,
I think Naylor is just a great fit. I think
he just needs to stay. I think that you can
you can keep pace with last year. I think you
can at least keep pace with last year. And then
on top of that, just Julio himself this year during
the season showed a lot of growth in terms of
making more contact, having a better approach. Some of that

(28:49):
fell apart in the postseason, but I think, you know,
I saw Barry Bonds in San Francisco. They said, oh,
he can't do it in the postseason, and then he
did and my theory on the postseason and sometimes as
young players just get to give him more chances. You
got to get him back there. You got to get
him back there. So I think if you get Julio
back to the postseason, he's going to be better. And
every time you do that, he's going to be better.

(29:11):
So I do think that there are yes, maybe cal
Raley won't have the same kind of season again, but
there's they're in good financial straits and most of their
teams come back.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
Quick thought on Dodgers Toronto.

Speaker 11 (29:26):
It's it's hard to pick against the star power the Dodgers,
and not because I think just stars define things, but
if you kind of look at the rotation, you'll take
the Dodgers starter almost every time. If you look at
the lineup and you line up stars, you end up
with one more star on the Dodgers every time, even
if you line up to the bottom of the order, you're like,

(29:47):
these are comparable. And so I don't really see a
place where the Blue Jays are clearly superior, and I
see a couple of places where the Dodgers.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
You know, we've really appreciated you coming on this year.
Our guy Brendon Funston is coming up top of the
hours week we visit with us. He gave us your name,
and uh, it's the best advice and our fantasy guy's
ever given us on this show is getting you on.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
So that says something maybe.

Speaker 11 (30:13):
This fantasy advice.

Speaker 7 (30:15):
No it was not.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
But in all seriousness, we've really we've gotten smart. We
get smarter every week when we have you on, and
I really appreciate that, and hopefully we can do this
again next year. Here's the other good news. Justinman has
your numbers, so there might be a chance we bother
you in the off season as well. Once she has
somebody's number, it doesn't go away, so that could happen.

Speaker 11 (30:36):
I I I offered, I'll be at the Winter meetings
and they will. They will be making some moves. It's
trader Jerry, He's gonna make some moves. I would love
to call in and talk about some of this from
the Winter meetings and love to do this again next
year if it's possible. But it's been a real pleasure.
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
We will plan on doing it next year. I know
our guys at Georgetown love to having you on every week.
And Jess Mark that winter meetings. We got our guy
coming on so we love that actually as well. Yeah, indeed,
so we'll do.

Speaker 11 (31:03):
We got maybe a live podcast, last live radio show.
Maybe get rates and barrels up to Georgetown. We're gonna
plan something.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
Okay, that sounds even better. We'll work on all those things.
Thank you so much, buddy. We'll talk to you soon.
All right, Thanks that, you know, Sarah's love it. That
was good stuff all year. Really appreciating. Big thanks of
Georgetown Brewing as well. Daily power Play with a brand
new open huh coming up next.

Speaker 3 (31:43):
When you're a sad one back for new Man.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
This is the Daily power Play and you're home for
the Sports Radio ninety three point three k j r
f M. The Daily power Play is brought to you
by Sakwahonda, Comoda, the logest inventory of Koboda Equipment.

Speaker 6 (32:06):
And Kane County.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
Now your daily look at the National Hockey League and
the Seattle Kraken with the inf NEETs.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
Daily power Play, great new open, well done, love that,
getting all voices on their fantastic stuff.

Speaker 3 (32:22):
Cracking tonight.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
Wrap up a six game road trip that's about as
difficult as it gets there in Winnipeg and take on
the Jets, last year's President's Trophy winner. Is the best
record in the regular season. Winnipeg is really really good.
They've been really good against Seattle as well. Uh kracking
in five games three and two in their last five
games against this particular team. Now here's a thing. Last

(32:46):
year they got a point in two of those three
meetings with the Jets. That's the good news. The bad
news is they are both loser points. But you know what,
you take them against that team. No chance, zero chance
that they would admit this right now. But if you
get a point tonight, that's a bonus. Like that's a bonus.
You come home three, two and three, that's all right,
you would You would take that all day to toughs
letting tonight. Connor Hillibec's gonna start in goal. Arguably the

(33:08):
best regular season goalie in the league.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
He's not very good.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
In the playoffs sometimes, but he has and the team
as a whole. Winnipeg has allowed just two point zero
goals per game in the last two seasons at home.
They are really good. Defensively, they're really good. They're unbeaten
when they score first as well. Mark Scheifeley has seven
goals to leave the NHL. I mean it's a it's

(33:31):
a tall task. Good news is looks like Sea How's
gonna get Mason Marchman back tonight in the lineup, so
that'll be good. They missed the game on Tuesday in Washington,
was banged up. There's still a team that has hurt
or the Kraken, A lot of guys out. Brandon mont
Tour is still out, Coppo Cockles still out for probably
another week or two along the way. Still no Jared McCann.

(33:52):
You're missing a lot of firepower on that team. But
so what they can do tonight the Lane Lambert's team.
I whatever record they I'm home at three, three and two, four,
two and two, whatever they come home with record wise.
And the next game is at home on Saturday against Edmonton.
I'll scream this from the Mountaintops. This is a far

(34:12):
better hockey team than a year ago. I think it
starts with the coaching staff. I think we have seen
it are already. They've had one stinker, to be honest
with you, and that was Monday in Philadelphia. They just
didn't show up to that game. They weren't nearly where
they needed to be. The game against the Capitols a
little closer than expected. That's also really I mean, they're
the second best team in the NHL last year record wise.

(34:34):
I mean, they're really good. And Seattle played with them.
Matt Murray played well in goal, probably one to one
back and you know, empty neckle at the end of the decider.
So we'll see what happens tonight four thirty pre game
here on your home for the Kraken ninety three point
three k RFM five pm drop of the Puck with

but he wasn't too specific in regards to that situation.
Probably roughly the same payroll as last season. Cal Raley,
Horge Polanca, Julio Rodriguez name finalists for the Silver Slugger

through the NBA. Well done league, Well done Adam, silver, congratulation,
good jump all right, without further ado. We missed it
last week, but he's back. The unofficial start of the week.

Speaker 3 (37:11):
One bullseye today.

Speaker 2 (37:13):
One we have we have a whole bunch that came
I mean a lot that came in at one o'clock
in one second. And we had a few people that
much like back in the days of the hydros might
have jumped the starter gun there, might have come across
and start finish line too early. We had a few
that were like almost a minute early. So check your
watches for it's one o'clock, no earlier, four nine, four

(37:35):
or five to one is where we get the text
four nine, four to five to one. We'll get to
those after the phone calls. My friend, how are you?
We missed you last week?

Speaker 6 (37:42):
Yeah, so and Jessaman it felt like a month. I
think I feel like I've aged five years since we
talked last. But if ever see IM a sports fan
needed some fantasy football as a diversion.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
This is the week.

Speaker 6 (37:56):
So there we go. What a week it is by mcgeddon,
by the way, way six teams on buy. So it's
a problematic week all around.

Speaker 2 (38:04):
Yeah, that's the start of some people's problems. It's also,
you know, just part of many problems that some of
us have. We'll get to that in a second. Rob Eddian, all.

Speaker 3 (38:12):
Right, let's go. We'll start as always. Look at this.
Mike and Edmonds called in on time this week. Hi Mike,
how are you?

Speaker 11 (38:19):
Hi?

Speaker 8 (38:19):
En? Hi Brandon? Oh teezy. Guys. What I want more
than anything is I want somebody besides a rose arena
and is clueless hacks.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
So I don't think we can help you with that,
but we can help you. Brandan can help you with fantasy.

Speaker 8 (38:33):
Football probably so probably, So okay, here we go full PPR.
I just need one of these four guys to fill
in a flex position, Carlos Sutton, Davonte Williams, Jordan Addison,
or is A Flowers and extra. Thanks for doing this today.

Speaker 6 (38:54):
Yeah, Mike, absolutely. You know it's pretty close between Courtland
Sutton and Javonte Williams. But uh, you know Cortland Suttons
at home against the best matchup for a wide receiver
in the Dallas Cowboy. So give me Courtland Sutton in
that one.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
Perfect, all right. Next we go to the two five
three area code Ricky and Tacoma. Hi, Ricky, there we go.
Hey Ricky, there you are. How are you? How's it going, ladies?

Speaker 12 (39:20):
Gentlemen?

Speaker 3 (39:21):
All right?

Speaker 12 (39:21):
Good, no more stress, just fantasy football and Hawks.

Speaker 11 (39:24):
All right?

Speaker 3 (39:26):
What do you got? All right?

Speaker 7 (39:28):
Brandon?

Speaker 13 (39:28):
Okay, I got half point TPR between Jackson Dart and
Caleb Williams.

Speaker 6 (39:33):
Which one should I go with? Yeah, that's a good
question I have. I have Caleb Williams one spot ahead
of Jackson Dart. They're both on the road. The Ravens
secondary has been problematic this year, so I'm gonna give
Klein Caleb Williams a nod. But uh, splitting hairs.

Speaker 3 (39:50):
That thanks, Ricky, we appreciate Brenda. Is that question you
expected three weeks ago? Four weeks ago?

Speaker 6 (39:57):
Yeah, that's it's crazy, but yeah, there you go. I
have I'm both like it's twelve and thirteen, so they're
bubble quarterback ones in my mind.

Speaker 2 (40:04):
But well, let's see how this is gonna go. Let's
go to line one, Jess, Rob is in?

Speaker 3 (40:11):
Where else? Bury? And Hi? Rob m.

Speaker 5 (40:20):
Oh no. I had such a depressing conversation with him.

Speaker 3 (40:23):
Robbie.

Speaker 2 (40:24):
Wait, wait, let's let's try that again. Rob and Buriy
and you're on. Let's try one more time.

Speaker 12 (40:29):
This is dumb, man, I don't understand what I'm doing.

Speaker 6 (40:35):
Great, you know that's what happened. Maybe that threw you off. Yeah,
well I think we're back to normal though. I think
if it was worried about the world turning upside down, I.

Speaker 3 (40:43):
Think we're back. It's it's old. Rob is back. So Rob,
what's going on? Buddy? What do you got? What do
you got for Brandon?

Speaker 11 (40:49):
Well? Not in last place?

Speaker 12 (40:50):
So this is good.

Speaker 11 (40:51):
So do we go Panis or Stroud?

Speaker 6 (40:56):
I'm gonna go Panis. I assume he's going to play.
It's it sounds like he is sounds like it's just
a bruise and h he's gonna go. I like the
match up against Miami's. He plays great at home, so
uh yeah, gimme gimme Panics, all.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
Right, Robin burre In so little melancholy today. Not sure
if I like that? Uh we we we always do this.
We just go back to back, Sultan. Let's start with
Steven in Sultan. First, Hey Steven, Hey, guys, So to say,
my whole almost my whole team decided to take the
week off for some reason.

Speaker 4 (41:29):
I don't know why.

Speaker 11 (41:29):
I guess they're all upset about the Mars and we'll
lose in so hey.

Speaker 6 (41:34):
Yeah, that's we're all blame. Blame the NFL. They don't like.

Speaker 2 (41:39):
Yeah, So I need a miracle poll from you this week.

Speaker 11 (41:43):
I need a running back, Justice Hill, Kath Gainwell, homage Preen,
Isaiah Davis or Jeremy McNichols.

Speaker 3 (41:52):
It's a bad Pole week.

Speaker 6 (41:54):
Yeah, let's see, I'm just looking down my list here.
You said, Isaiah Davis, I'm gonna go Kenneth Gainwell, and
that's you know, I have Gainwell just ahead of Isaiah Davis,
Justice Hills right after, and then Samajh p Ryan's a
little bit further down than that. If if Kyle Manana

(42:16):
is still out there, it's probably a pretty popular pick up.
Brashott Smith Burshart Smith I like a little bit better
than those guys as well. But yeah, I think of
the guys you listed, I would go gain Well.

Speaker 2 (42:26):
All right, next up we stay in Sultan. We get
with Derek in Sultan.

Speaker 13 (42:32):
Next Hey, Derek, Well that's up, guys, rough bye week
this week?

Speaker 2 (42:37):
Geezy, hey Derek, real quick. I think we've asked you
this before. Have you and ste Are you and Stephen
in the same league?

Speaker 3 (42:44):
Have you ever met?

Speaker 2 (42:44):
I mean, it's it's odd every week we get two
guys both from Sultan.

Speaker 3 (42:49):
You two guys back to back. Have you guys ever met?

Speaker 1 (42:53):
You know?

Speaker 13 (42:53):
Sultan's a small town, but it's not that small. More
than there's more than two or three people there.

Speaker 6 (42:59):
No, I have not met.

Speaker 13 (43:01):
Him, but maybe maybe at the local Red Apple and
we just don't know it.

Speaker 3 (43:05):
All right, there you go, all right, what do you got, Derek?

Speaker 13 (43:09):
So I need one of these four in a flex.
It's between Tony Pollard, DJ Moore, Aaron Jones and the
Chargers tight end, which I'm not gonna try to pronounce
his name. It's like, yeah, yeah, Chargers got his center or.

Speaker 14 (43:30):
Something like that.

Speaker 6 (43:32):
Yeah, you know, I'm gonna steer away from Pollard. Ty J.
Spears is almost pulled even with him in the workload
there Aaron Jones. It's his first game back after he's
been out for a long time with the hamstring injury.
I don't know if they're going to shove him into
a big workload. I'm going to lean towards DJ Moore.
It does look like with the hip he has a
little bit of a banged up hip. He is going
to play. I have him like wide receiver thirty. I

(43:54):
mentioned it earlier. Baltimore has been rough in the secondary,
so I think DJ Moore is the best upside there.

Speaker 3 (44:00):
All right, perfect. I think we've got a late add
on the phone lines. Is that right, Jess? We have
a late ad.

Speaker 4 (44:05):
We have two more left on the line, but we
do have one laid ad.

Speaker 3 (44:09):
His name would be Chris and Bury. Is that right?

Speaker 5 (44:11):
We do have Chris?

Speaker 3 (44:12):
All right, let's get Chris on. Chris and Burying. Let's
go Chris.

Speaker 14 (44:17):
Thank you for taking my call. It only took me
twenty six tries, so that didn't start till one fifty bad.
I need two wide receivers full point PPR out of
these four.

Speaker 3 (44:34):
Shoot, buddy, con't prepare. Let's go PSS. You're better than that.

Speaker 14 (44:39):
Okay, okay, sorry, Calvin. Ridley 'sharde Shahed, Jordan Addison or
Romeo Dubbs, all right, give me too.

Speaker 6 (44:48):
Yeah, I don't think Ridley's gonna play. I don't think
he's practice yet this week. It's not looking good, So
give me Dobbs and Jordan Addison. I think I haven't
decidedly ahead of Shaheed, But yeah, I can't Ridley. I
don't expect to play.

Speaker 3 (45:02):
All right, perfect last call before we go.

Speaker 2 (45:04):
All the texts including a bulls eye at one o'clock exactly.

Speaker 3 (45:07):
Let's get Steven Shoreline. Go ahead, Steve.

Speaker 11 (45:11):
Yeah, I got two receivers is non PPR, which is
why I can't make up my mind mcconkeye or Pittman.
And also what about Lamar Jackson?

Speaker 6 (45:22):
Good question, Yeah, Lamar Jackson is returning. It sounds like
I like the matchup. It's a hamstring injury. I think
that's the reason I don't have him ranked number one
with a bull this week. I have him ranked number four,
because I wouldn't expect them to turn him loose in
the running game too much, probably tell him to kind
of hold back on that and not really stress that
hamstring too much. So in a standard league, I'm actually

(45:45):
gonna go Michael Pittman. I have Maconkey ahead of Pittman
and PPR, but Pittman's been a good touchdown score. He
has been a guy that Colts get the ball into
the red zone they look his way. So I think
the touchdown is a bigger, you know deal in a
standard league, and I think Pittman had a better chance
for that.

Speaker 2 (46:01):
All right, let's fire away on the music. Let's hit
the phone or they hit the text line and one
o'clock exactly thirteen, it's on military time, orable text machine
thirteen zero zero zero zero. Daniels out, Deebo hobbled, Mariota,
Mariota not good.

Speaker 3 (46:19):
Do I start Troy Franklin instead over Mariota?

Speaker 6 (46:24):
I would? I would probably still if it sounds like
a super flex spot, I would take Mariota. It's not
a good matchup, but he does run in any kind
of passing numbers to go with that probably raises his
floor over Troy Franklin.

Speaker 2 (46:36):
All right, one second, here's a whole bunch at one
second after I need a replacement for Jade and Daniels
and not a lot as available Pennix, Roger Stroud or Flocko.

Speaker 3 (46:44):
I need a miracle.

Speaker 6 (46:45):
That's to make sure Penix is still is still my
number one. He's just ahead of Joe Floco.

Speaker 3 (46:51):
But I like.

Speaker 6 (46:51):
Pennis at home against Miami. Just make sure that knee
checks out. Okay, if not, go Flocko.

Speaker 2 (46:56):
And we appreciate Ryan you listening on the iHeartRadio app
down in Scottsdale. You are a big time listener for us.
We appreciate you.

Speaker 3 (47:03):
Full.

Speaker 2 (47:03):
PPR need three Buca Swift flowers, Dobbs Goddard McClaren.

Speaker 3 (47:09):
That needs three of.

Speaker 6 (47:10):
Those flowers, Dobbs mcla got it. I don't. I don't
like McLaurin paired with Mariota against the Chiefs. He's out. Yeah.
I like the first three Agbuca Swift and flowers.

Speaker 2 (47:23):
Beautiful. Let's see half point. PPR need one running back,
one flex Pollard Marx downs and Tes Johnson. Needs one
running back and one flex Pollard, Marx downs and Tes Johnson.

Speaker 6 (47:34):
Yeah, give me Pollard and let's go with Tes Johnson.
I like the way he looked last week. Evans is out,
Chris Godwin's out. I think he's gonna have another big
role this week.

Speaker 2 (47:43):
Ben says standard scoring need to Collins, Flowers, Higgins or Hubbard.

Speaker 6 (47:48):
Let's go h Flowers and Higgins only because I don't
think Nico Collins is gonna play. He has a concussion.
It's pretty hard to get back in a week, so
so far he hasn't practiced. I'm dubious if he does play,
go with Colins, and I think would sit Flowers in
that situation.

Speaker 2 (48:04):
Fust and I still have a bunch of one second
after that's insane. Bow Knicks or Drake May twelve teen PPR, Yeah,
the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 6 (48:13):
I have bow Knicks actually ranked ahead of Drake May
this week because May is going against Cleveland. It's a
pretty tough matchup. Bo Knicks lighting it up in the
fourth quarter last week, and I think that carries over
in such a soft matchup this week.

Speaker 2 (48:25):
Ben, do you think when he tells us BONNICKX or
Drake May and I'm in a twelve teen PPR, he's
trying to let us tell that He's not stupid, he's
just it's just that's what it is.

Speaker 6 (48:34):
Like like, b you think that's a humble brag.

Speaker 3 (48:36):
I think it's more like I had no choice besides
bon Nick or Drake May. Don't blame me. It's a
twelve team PPR league.

Speaker 6 (48:43):
Drake May is like one of the best quarterbacks in
the league.

Speaker 2 (48:45):
Yeah, maybe right, need three? AJ Brown, Rice Addison, Pittman
or Sutton?

Speaker 3 (48:52):
Need three?

Speaker 6 (48:54):
Uh Pittman and Okay, so let's go with Rice, Sutton
and A. J. Brown. But you gotta watch. He hasn't practiced.
I think it's more of like maintenance. He says it's
a hamstring deal, but I expect him to play. So Sutton,
Brown and Rice full PPR Dowdell or Hubbard, Yeah, gotta go.

(49:15):
Gotta go Rico Dowdell even if they split. Dabell has
been more efficient than Hubbard, but I would not be
surprised if Dawdalls starts to pull ahead of Hubbard in
that workloads.

Speaker 2 (49:24):
Well, this person wants to know your top seven tight
ends projected to score touchdowns this week. That's probably more
of a gambling question, but who are your top guys
that might score touchdowns.

Speaker 6 (49:32):
I mean, you just go with the top guys because
they were gonna get the most volume and they give
them the best chance to score touchdowns. So Tucker Craft,
Tyler Warren, George Kittle, Jake Ferguson, Dallas Goddard, and Travis Kelsey.

Speaker 2 (49:46):
Jouncey Bilt. Yeah, Chauncey Bilich, we appreciate your question for
that player prop there Keenan Allen or Jalen Warren. That's
from Devaughon and Olympia.

Speaker 6 (49:55):
Yeah, I think I'll go with with Keenan Allen. Just
do not like, uh, do not like the matchup for
Jalen Warren this week against the Green Bay Packers.

Speaker 3 (50:03):
By the way, that's our first two seconds after the hour.
That's just you guys. Are you guys?

Speaker 5 (50:07):
We got a lot today?

Speaker 2 (50:08):
They never ever you guys don't disappoint Honestly, it's it's
kind of cool. I'll see this every week. Keith Miller
half point PPR, DK Diggs.

Speaker 3 (50:17):
And he says he loves you guys.

Speaker 6 (50:22):
Better not get this wrong. Then let's go with Let's
go with DK. Thanks green Bay.

Speaker 3 (50:28):
That wasn't even my question, but I like it.

Speaker 6 (50:31):
Stroud or Mariota, I you know, what it's Stroud against
San Francisco. We saw them.

Speaker 3 (50:38):
There's no tough, no Nico Collins.

Speaker 6 (50:40):
Yeah, so I'm gonna I'm still gonna go. Yeah, I'm
gonna go with Mariota again. That rushing upside floor kind
of raises it. Stroud doesn't run a whole lot, and
that San Francisco defense has been tough even with all
their injuries.

Speaker 2 (50:52):
I get a couple more here before we go to
the top. Here, I need two PPR tight end Andrews
one title. Okay, dude, you guys have to do a
better job, can't.

Speaker 3 (51:00):
I can't read that.

Speaker 2 (51:01):
Uh, Jamie from Allen says, who do I put in
my flex Keenan, Allen, Sutton or Judkins.

Speaker 6 (51:06):
I would go with. I would go with Courtland Sutton
against Dallas.

Speaker 14 (51:09):
I like.

Speaker 6 (51:10):
I like Judkins a lot, but New England's been tough
against the run. Uh let's see.

Speaker 3 (51:14):
Oh this is interesting only because I've got juice on
this one. Thank you. Uh full point PPR. Need one
monong Guy or Crosskey Merrit.

Speaker 6 (51:24):
Yeah, it's it's pretty close. I like Monoan Guy, but
I'm gonna go with Krosskey Merrit against Kansas City. Having
two spots ahead of Manang Guy.

Speaker 2 (51:33):
Uh, sit one Kittle, Jake Ferguson, Krosskey Merit or Ramandre
Stevenson sit.

Speaker 3 (51:40):
One Um.

Speaker 6 (51:43):
Who was the second tight end?

Speaker 3 (51:45):
Uh, he needs to.

Speaker 2 (51:47):
Sit one Kittle, Jake Ferguson, Krosskey Merit or Ramandre Stevenson.

Speaker 6 (51:51):
I think I'm gonna sit Crosskey merrit there. You know
it is National tight end day of this weekend.

Speaker 13 (51:55):
So uh.

Speaker 6 (51:56):
And in the last two years they've had that tight
ends have gone off. It's just been kind of one
of those weird one of those weird phenomenons. But you know,
just something to put in the back of your of
your mind.

Speaker 2 (52:06):
I guess full PPR Chase Brown or Kamani Videll let's go.

Speaker 6 (52:12):
Uh, let's go with I kind of like Kamani Vadali
don't have they don't have Hassan Hoskins there, He's gonna
get a lot of runs. So give me vadalas lightly
ahead of Chase Brown.

Speaker 2 (52:23):
All right, we love trade questions. This is from Ryan.
I have Sam Donald on the bench. Okay, With that
in mind, should I package Hurts and DeVante Smith for
a better wide receiver?

Speaker 3 (52:32):
If so? Any thoughts on who to target.

Speaker 6 (52:35):
Oh, I you know, I mean I'm playing Hurts over
Sam Donald. Say you might, you might want to think
about trading Sam Donald. I don't. I don't know why
you would keep Sam Darnal around other than for the
fact that you want him during Hurts his bye week,
but every other week you just want to play Hurts.

Speaker 2 (52:50):
So I did see a couple of these same questions
early and some late. What's Igbucha's status?

Speaker 6 (52:56):
Uh, he is got a hamstring injury. I think I
think he was limited in practice today, so I think
he's trending towards playing. I have him ranked as my
sixth wide receiver this week. Seeming he plays, he's gonna
get a ton of targets. And I'll leave it with
this one. I texted in a couple of weeks ago
about if I should be done with Pollard. I don't
have a question, Brandon. I'm just done with Pollard.

Speaker 3 (53:19):
Yeah, I like it.

Speaker 6 (53:21):
I'm like running back twenty nine thirty this week, and
that's in a sixteen bye week, so I'm kind of
done with him as well.

Speaker 3 (53:28):
Who who would you be done with? More Pollard? Or
even though he's on a buy this week, Our good
buddy Ken Walker the third.

Speaker 6 (53:37):
I still feel like there's there's hope and like a
few a couple explosions along the way for Walker, I
don't I don't feel like that with with Pollard, So yeah,
I'm more d.

Speaker 2 (53:48):
Ian and mable Valley wants to know, is is Ken
our Ken Walker slash Zach Charbonay the same as Isaiah
Pacheco and Kareem Hunt.

Speaker 3 (53:57):
One guy gets you there, the other guy gets it
in the end zone.

Speaker 6 (53:59):
I think it's an upper I think we have the
upper middle class version of those guys.

Speaker 3 (54:03):
So okay, all right, all right. I liked that. For
people who didn't get their question answered, how can they do?

Speaker 4 (54:08):
So?

Speaker 6 (54:09):
Yeah, you can go to the Athletic go to the
fantasy football pages. Tons of stuff there to help you
get ready for kickoff. Jake Seely's rankings, one of the
best rankers in the industry. And then we have our discord.
You can jump in there at any time. We have
we have people in there monitoring and looking for questions
and helping you out as well, So check all that out.

Speaker 2 (54:27):
We had a ton of questions today on the text line,
as money as we've had in a long time, So
thanks everybody.

Speaker 3 (54:33):
I can I cannot.

Speaker 2 (54:34):
I think it was a dozen that we had that
either came at one at the top of the hour
and one and another eleven that came in one second
after one o'clock today. So thanks for everybody for tuning
back in. We'll get to as many as we can
every week. Thank you, Brandon. We'll talk to you next week.

Speaker 3 (54:46):
Buddy. Good to be back.

Speaker 6 (54:47):
Have a good one. There you go.

Speaker 2 (54:48):
Benefice brought to you by a good friends at Georgetown Brewing.
By the way, again, Georgetown Brewing, they bring us fund
sitend to you know. They kind of own our Thursday
show here on ninety three point three KJFM, which we
absolutely love.

Speaker 3 (54:57):
Big banks to Georgetown Brewing.

Speaker 2 (54:59):
Look for your local grocery stores and again look for
taptwise there's some fresh hops still out there. I had
a Dalton Fresh hoop last night over at the woods
at Druids Glenn Golf Course. Oh my god, sational beer.
Go look for at your local grocery stores or wherever
good beer is sold. All right, we'll take a break,
come back. Jessamin McIntyre has today's Fact or Fiction pick.

Speaker 3 (55:22):
Are you ready?

Speaker 5 (55:24):
I as ready as I'll ever be.

Speaker 2 (55:25):
Okay, good Jess got that pick. I got a couple
of the text I want to read as well before
we get to that. Right here in nine three point
three KTERFM.

Speaker 12 (55:35):
From the R and R Foundation Specialist Broadcast Studio. Now
back to He and FURNESZ powered by Seattle Closest sports
book Snow call me Casino and Hotel on Sports Radio
ninety three point three KJR FM.

Speaker 2 (55:52):
All right, we get some text four nine four five
one on the still unrestricted free agent text line, and
then we'll use that same text line at two three
five at about five minutes for fact or fiction.

Speaker 3 (56:02):
Jessman has a pick. Jess, Oh, I'm ready, and we
are sure it's not Monday, right.

Speaker 5 (56:09):
I'm very aware that it's not Monday.

Speaker 6 (56:11):
Okay, I'm just.

Speaker 3 (56:14):
I just got text manders. He wanted to make sure
that you knew it wasn't a Monday.

Speaker 5 (56:16):
Oh oh, of course I triple check.

Speaker 4 (56:21):
These days, these double headers really really throw me for
a loop.

Speaker 5 (56:24):
Sometimes they throw everybody for a loop.

Speaker 2 (56:26):
Nobody likes Nobody likes this. These the double headers are
done on Monday, and stop those No, I don't think.
I think the only fan is the NFL or a
network on the way that makes money. Okay, I'm hunting
and pecking here through the text on I found a few.
Here we go two, five, three. Of course this affects
US expansion since Vegas is one of the teams. Can
you imagine them announcing Vegas gets an expansion team after this?

Speaker 6 (56:47):
Lol?

Speaker 3 (56:48):
Well, I don't think it matters.

Speaker 2 (56:49):
Vegas is supposedly gonna get a baseball team, and we
just saw a bunch of guys from the Cleveland Guardians
get busted for gambling.

Speaker 6 (56:55):
That didn't matter.

Speaker 2 (56:56):
NFL doesn't seem to care, Hockey doesn't seem to care
about big Vegas actually does a good job pleasing itself.
I don't think you're you're not worried about Vegas. You're
worried about what happened today was with Chauncey and and Rosier.
Those guys were involved.

Speaker 3 (57:09):
With the mafia. Some underground stuff is organized crime. Fans
like four organized crime families that were involved with that.

Speaker 2 (57:15):
So I don't think they're worried about Vegas as much
as well, Uh talking about the refusal talk, he hadn't
talking about this Ian. It's the main story national news.
No worries of all leagues. I'm glad it happened to
this one. Yeah, a lot of people are saying that
actually kind of funny it happened to the NBA.

Speaker 5 (57:29):
I I was, I was chuckling as I read this
story this morning.

Speaker 2 (57:34):
I had I just said, you know what, you deserve
that man? You you you deserve that, Adam Silver, Oh no,
thank you to Gino. He strikes out way too much. Yeah,
I'm gonna guess for a variety of reasons, For a
variety of reasons, there's probably we're probably not gonna see

(57:55):
Gino back.

Speaker 6 (57:56):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (57:57):
I gotta be interesting what his market value is. We'll
talk about that. We're gonna do a whole off season
preview with Nate and Chris coming up on Monday. But
it'll be interesting to see what his market value.

Speaker 6 (58:06):
Is in the off season.

Speaker 2 (58:08):
Let's see, Springer could have hit a homer off of anyone.
There's no way of predicting. That was when our coment
we had our conversation with EO Sarahs today. If you
missed that, it was really good. I thought, you know,
did a great job of discussing exactly how and what
we were talking about with.

Speaker 3 (58:24):
The pitching decisions.

Speaker 2 (58:27):
He didn't like the decision to go to Bizarro either,
but it was for a different reason and everybody else
has been discussing.

Speaker 3 (58:31):
So maybe go take a listen to that.

Speaker 2 (58:33):
If you haven't on the podcast, go the iHeartRadio ad
app and you can check it out on our page.

Speaker 3 (58:38):
Because I think he's right. I think there's a there's
a pretty good one in there about that as well.
I want more.

Speaker 6 (58:45):
We get to it just before we get to factor fiction.

Speaker 2 (58:48):
Let's see, Ian, can you please play the kind of
you saying the Blue Jays will not win this series
from being down to nothing. If we're asking fans to
pull out all their superstitions, you.

Speaker 3 (59:00):
Pulled out the worst. Okay, time out. I said that.

Speaker 2 (59:04):
I'll stand by that one. Say I'd say it again.
They're up to nothing with two wins on the road.
There's not a fiber in my being that could have
fathomed and imagined that Toronto would win four or five
against Seattle, and that's exactly what they did. You want

(59:25):
to say superstitions, Fine, you want to believe in that, Fine.
I didn't throw a pitch, I didn't swing at a pitch.
If I really believe that was true, I'd find out
what the reverse superstition is, and I'd win the power
Ball tomorre and you know what, and you know what,
Texter from the two five three, you'd never have to
listen to me again.

Speaker 3 (59:44):
I'd be gone, So I'd be on a beach somewhere.

Speaker 2 (59:50):
But I don't think that stuff works, because if it did,
I wouldn't be here, None of us would be here.
How do you make the best baseball podcast of all
time when all you talk about is one team? So
you're telling me that you're not not going to be
downloading the Dodgers best baseball podcast we've been promoting?

Speaker 6 (01:00:08):
Is petrols on that?

Speaker 3 (01:00:09):
By the way, is petrols on that?

Speaker 5 (01:00:11):
That's a good question.

Speaker 3 (01:00:13):
I strolling Mariner fans yesterday, mister Dodger himself running a
Dodger promo. I come on, what are we doing?

Speaker 8 (01:00:20):
What are we doing?

Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
Are we doing? Let's get to it. Factor fiction? Where's
that to go?

Speaker 7 (01:00:24):
Glad you're with us?

Speaker 1 (01:00:25):
It's your shot at our weekly thousand bucks and the
ten thousand dollars grand price. It's factor fiction, probably presented
by Lucky Eagle Casino and hotel where every day Feels Lucky.
Fact Door fiction is on Sports Radio ninety three point
three KJR FM.

Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
Factor Fiction is brought to you by the Lucky Eagle
Casino where everyday feels lucky, going twenty four seven gaming
Friday Saturdays starting here later this month.

Speaker 3 (01:00:59):
Let's go big. Thanks for friends, Luk Egal.

Speaker 2 (01:01:01):
You know they're giving away a total of twenty four
thousand American dollars one thousand dollars every week. That's fourteen thousand,
ten thousand dollars grand prize. How do you win the
one thousand dollars? Listen the grand prize. If you haven't
been playing, you're kind of out of luck. But if
you haven't playing, you're well invested and you're going hard
after it. Right now, it's a very close race. If

(01:01:21):
you haven't had great success, that doesn't matter. All you
need is one correct answer a week, agreeing or disagreeing
with the host or producer at four nine, four or
five to one by texting Fact.

Speaker 3 (01:01:32):
If you agree Fiction, if you disagree, and if you
do that, guess what boom?

Speaker 2 (01:01:35):
Just like that, you are entered to win a thousand
dollars weekly prize, and Anderson Hurst may call you on
a Monday afternoon. Jessamin McIntyre has today's pick.

Speaker 3 (01:01:42):
What is it?

Speaker 4 (01:01:43):
Well, it is I'm going against my blood here. I
am choosing the Bengals minus six and a half as.

Speaker 5 (01:01:51):
They host the Jets.

Speaker 4 (01:01:53):
And so that is this Sunday at ten am Pacific time.
This Sunday, Bengals minus six and a half. They are
hosting the New York Jets. Now, the Jets, the wheels
have come off when it comes to this.

Speaker 3 (01:02:09):
Team, Jess, I don't know if they were ever on.

Speaker 5 (01:02:11):
I'm not sure if.

Speaker 4 (01:02:12):
This was like a tinker toot situation where you know,
you use an Allen wrench to put those things on.
Maybe Dad just said it would work and it didn't.
But uh yeah, And and maybe you could put me
in the root to be wrong category, except I know
I'm not. And so I am just going with Cincinnati
in this situation because I know I know better. I

(01:02:36):
know better, and I honestly think that's generous for them
to only be six and a half point under.

Speaker 3 (01:02:42):
Help me a touchdown with the next point you win.
Jets are zero and seven, yep.

Speaker 5 (01:02:47):
And they're not due.

Speaker 4 (01:02:49):
You know when you say, oh, well they're due, they're
not due. And I and now Tyrod Taylor's hurt too.
Uh you know it replaced Justin Fields. I mean, and
now now he's a day to day situation. He's got
a knee injury. I mean, put in fireman ed at
this point, what are what are we doing here?

Speaker 5 (01:03:08):
What are we doing?

Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
The Jets fan in you tell me you saw or
heard that Audio Ida kid.

Speaker 3 (01:03:15):
I was born into this. I was born into this,
and I hate this team.

Speaker 4 (01:03:19):
I almost just quoted that I was gonna try.

Speaker 5 (01:03:23):
To cue up that audio. I was born into this
and I hate this team. But I'll always be a fan.
I've never felt more heard.

Speaker 3 (01:03:31):
Uh oh and seven Jets.

Speaker 2 (01:03:34):
Cincinnati three and four with the rejuvenated three and four
thanks to one Joe Flacco.

Speaker 3 (01:03:41):
M okay, I like to pick. I think it's a
good pick.

Speaker 2 (01:03:44):
But of course I say that, and everyone's probably gonna
text fiction to four nine, four to five one because
of my track.

Speaker 3 (01:03:48):
Record this year.

Speaker 4 (01:03:49):
But I do know what, I just very much, very
much think that they are going to lose by multiple
scores in this game.

Speaker 3 (01:03:57):
All Right.

Speaker 2 (01:03:58):
Once again, if you're trying, you're trying to win a
thousand our weekly price. You can't win a thousand dollars
unless you text if you're listening right now, stop what
you're doing. Text fact fact to four nine four or
five one.

Speaker 3 (01:04:08):
Or if you.

Speaker 2 (01:04:08):
Disagree and you think that the Jets are gonna either
cover and and be within one touchdown and an extra point,
or maybe you win out right you text fiction.

Speaker 6 (01:04:19):
Four nine sorry five may it's not gonna happen.

Speaker 2 (01:04:23):
The Jets are going to go one to eight and
Jessamin is going to get a win. That'll help our show,
least in terms of our face value. We need to
get a rally. Here factor fiction brought to you by
the Lucky Eagle Casino where every day feels lucky. Once again,
it is Cincinnati minus six and a half fact over
the Jets four nine, four or five one. If you
disagree fiction four nine four five one, we will check

(01:04:47):
in next with Dave Softy Power. Well, it's just been

(01:05:13):
too long. It's been too long since I've heard this music.
It's been too long since we've had a little crosstalk session. Y.

Speaker 6 (01:05:19):
Yeah, here he is.

Speaker 7 (01:05:21):
You can play the music whenever you want. By the way,
you don't need to wait for him.

Speaker 3 (01:05:24):
But I you know, I just have you.

Speaker 15 (01:05:26):
You know, I might just carry a speaker around with
like a little bluetooth speaker around with me, and every
time I walk into a restaurant or a bar, I
just got that music going there. But send that to
me so I can like make up my themes walk
up song.

Speaker 3 (01:05:39):
Remember the remember the back of the day and we
all had ring tones?

Speaker 7 (01:05:43):
Yeah we still do?

Speaker 3 (01:05:44):
Do you? I don't have one? Do you have one?
What do you?

Speaker 15 (01:05:46):
How do you know your phone's ringing? It's all you mean,
like unique ring tones as we like something just for you.
I think the Boss still has Isaiah's buzzer Arizona. He
does on his phone from twenty eleven or whatever a
year you got.

Speaker 3 (01:05:59):
Guy Us Johnson made that reference at the start of
the game.

Speaker 7 (01:06:02):
I love that. Yeah, it was very cool, very cool.

Speaker 11 (01:06:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:06:05):
I like Isaiah. I wish he wasn't a husky. I
wish you I like him.

Speaker 7 (01:06:09):
Curtis, you can just consider him a was it Rams?
Curtis Rams?

Speaker 2 (01:06:12):
Is that right, Curtis Rams, Curtis Bikings, Curtis Bikings, the
Vikings Bikings.

Speaker 3 (01:06:16):
Yeah, consider him to be a Curtis.

Speaker 7 (01:06:18):
Hey, who's the next coach of the Blazer is going
to be?

Speaker 15 (01:06:21):
Because that guy's done it's hard to coach Blazers from jail,
by the way, Uh you know what you want to
be a real jail blazer.

Speaker 2 (01:06:28):
Well, well, listen, it fits, doesn't it. It's been too
long since we've been able to use the jail Blazer labs, right,
It's just been way too long, and it's just yeah,
Adam Silver, it's your league, buddy.

Speaker 15 (01:06:43):
Well, Dick and I were talking off the air about this.
I mean, they're still waiting for a new arena down there,
and I just kind of wonder what this does to
everybody's desire to get a new arena built and pay
a billion dollars to make it happen.

Speaker 7 (01:06:53):
And it can't help.

Speaker 15 (01:06:55):
Yeah, right, we know that, Like, first of all, I mean,
let's face it, man, we're already talking about like we're
no Central down there already in Portland, right yeah, And
now we're talking about you know, you're talking about giving
money to a basketball team who was head coaches going
to prison for God's sake, unless he unless he turns
in Tommy two Fingers and Benny Bax, he's going to jail.

Speaker 3 (01:07:14):
Well, they they just might be safer in jail.

Speaker 2 (01:07:17):
By the way, he might be They just sold the
team to a guy that was voted as the worst
owner in the NHL by every uh by every player and.

Speaker 3 (01:07:26):
Or agent in the league. And so yeah, that's perfect.

Speaker 15 (01:07:29):
We last time they played in the conference finals, by
the way, like five years ago.

Speaker 7 (01:07:34):
Sorry with STATSI they were there?

Speaker 3 (01:07:37):
Were they? Who they lose to Dallas or something? I
think it was. That's a good question. It wasn't, ok
because that was the Semis they lost to.

Speaker 7 (01:07:47):
Sorry sorry sorry they lost to UH.

Speaker 3 (01:07:50):
Gold Say that that was that was the year that Damian.

Speaker 15 (01:07:56):
I think that's the year they knocked out Okay. See, yeah,
but there's where's the statue for that? Where's the statue
for that?

Speaker 7 (01:08:02):
I think we should put a statue up here.

Speaker 3 (01:08:06):
That's what I mean. I wanted up here.

Speaker 7 (01:08:08):
Yeah, so when the Blazers move here, they can just
take care of it.

Speaker 3 (01:08:10):
So, oh god, listen to you, just trolling them, just
trolling them.

Speaker 7 (01:08:14):
You know, we don't he don't want them, But if
that's the only option, I'll take them.

Speaker 3 (01:08:18):
At this point, I don't care. All right, we can And.

Speaker 15 (01:08:20):
If I came to you and said you got two choices,
you can never get the NBA back. You can have
the Blazers right now, give me the Blazers.

Speaker 7 (01:08:26):
How are we doing?

Speaker 3 (01:08:27):
Why would I care?

Speaker 7 (01:08:29):
I told you that you don't Hey, wait a minute,
time out. Are you violating your no talking?

Speaker 3 (01:08:33):
I'm not talking.

Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
I'm not talking about points assists or a guy sitting
out for load management?

Speaker 15 (01:08:36):
That's what Okay, boy, you just asked me about Damian
Lillard beating the thunder. So that's one strike man, three
strikes against you, and you got to talk about him.

Speaker 11 (01:08:45):
That was the deal?

Speaker 3 (01:08:46):
Do do it?

Speaker 7 (01:08:47):
No, that was the deal.

Speaker 3 (01:08:48):
Okay, I'm trying to see who that deal was. But
you tell yours.

Speaker 2 (01:08:51):
You know that, because all all I remember is the
last time that we did this, it drove you nuts,
which made it more un to do.

Speaker 3 (01:09:00):
No talking, Yeah, because you came in every day going
I don't get this. I don't understand why you're not talking,
but you did talk.

Speaker 15 (01:09:08):
It makes more sense for this than it did for
the Mariners because we don't have the NBA here.

Speaker 2 (01:09:12):
Yeah, right, Like, but the Maryors that year was a
bad year. I'm trying to remember what year it was.
There's a lot of bad years mixed in there. But uh,
how are you doing?

Speaker 3 (01:09:21):
By the way, but how are you doing. How are
you doing all right?

Speaker 13 (01:09:24):
You know?

Speaker 3 (01:09:26):
I got home last night.

Speaker 2 (01:09:29):
Off, man, I got home last night, and I'll be
honest with you, it was weird because no hockey game,
nothing going on.

Speaker 3 (01:09:35):
And the last few times it's been that way.

Speaker 2 (01:09:37):
It's like I sit down with my kid and my
and my wife who became a fan, and we watched
a baseball game together, right, and honest to god, like
dead serious, I missed that. Of course we've never of
course we've never had that as a family. Well, my
we've never had that.

Speaker 15 (01:09:52):
And as Gina, as Gina said to me, you got
to lock it up, man, lock it up, because this
has been a buzzkill for me. Like and I've been
I'm sure a giant buzz kill right at home with
all this stuff. Like ere for crying out loud. Man,
I'm fifty two years old. I got to stop letting
this affect my mental states so much. That's my biggest problem.
I'm fifty two and I still let, you know, twenty
five year olds dictate my.

Speaker 6 (01:10:12):
Mood, which is stupid.

Speaker 15 (01:10:13):
Hell, I let nineteen year old kids do it in
college dictate my mood, which is even more ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
Man, How boring would your life be if you didn't
have the ebbs and flows the emotions of a sportsman.

Speaker 15 (01:10:25):
I probably have kids if not for this, I just say,
all right, I give me the kids, Give me the kids,
bring them on.

Speaker 7 (01:10:31):
Bring them on, give me the kids.

Speaker 3 (01:10:33):
Right, what are you doing today?

Speaker 15 (01:10:34):
Let's see Homegrun's going to be at four before Jets
cracking today pregame four thirty, face off five New Heizel's
riding a three game winning streak. All of a sudden,
he'll join us at three twenty. We'll hear a little
bit from Jerry Depoto as well. Who I was actually uh,
I was pretty impressed with him today, so I we'll
explain coming up later on the radio show. All from

(01:10:55):
the five twenty Bar.

Speaker 3 (01:10:55):
And Grill, all right, have a good one.

Speaker 6 (01:10:57):
See for the mild mannered and originally objectionable e Inverness.
