Speaker 1 (00:00):
Now from the Star Rentals Sports to us Jordan ninety
three point three KJRFM Sports headlines.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Headlines brought to you by Frostbrewed cors Light. Choose Chill,
here we go. NFL trade deadline is seven seconds away
four three two one. It's over. We'll see if anything
else happens. But the Seahawks have made a move today.
They picked up receiver and return man Rashid Shiheed and
traded the New Orleans Saints, pending a physical two draft
(00:28):
picks a fourth and fifth and twenty twenty six of
the Saints. The exchange for Shiheed. Mariners today exercise there
seven million dollar club option on their closer andres Munjos today.
That's a really good deal for Seattle. Seven million for
a guy that was an All Star last season. Sixty
games over the last two years he saved one nine
to two ERA. Yeah, pretty good player. See how Kraken
(00:49):
win again last night, take down the Blackhawks at home,
final score three to one. Ever, we had a couple points.
Maddy Beniers Jamie lexiek also scored for Seattle. Here Berkowski
scored the long goal for Chicago. Joey Cord great again
twenty nine saves. They are unbeaten in regulation at home.
Next up San Jose Sharks coming up tomorrow tomorrow, So
(01:09):
it'll come out tomorrow, seven o'clock drop of the puck,
six point thirty pre game with Captain Mike Benton here
on nine three point three KJRFM cracking right now, sitting
in first place in the Pacific. Unbelievable. But the West
is crazy. It's all backed up. We'll try to get
to a daily power play maybe a little bit later.
On two thirty. Sounds pulled it off yesterday, first round
of the MLS three game matchup with Minnesota. They survive,
get a win four two. Next up they'll play next
week back in Minnesota, deciding Game three. Jordan Morris one
(01:33):
of the goals as well for the Sounders. Let's go,
way we go? That appears to be it pedals, pencils down,
says the NFL. They just tweeted. I like that. NFL
pencils down, pencils down? God? Do you remember teas now? Yeah?
I don't know. I don't know how kids take the
SATs anymore? Do they do it? Is it a number
two lead pencil and all that?
Speaker 3 (01:53):
That's a really good question, like a scantron.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
I don't even know. I don't think my son didn't
even take an it SAT. He didn't, No, but he
was a COVID kid.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Oh everything changed during that year.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Yeah, so there was all kinds of yeah, And I
think they're starting to bring SATs or acts back, but
I don't know if they're electronic. I don't know how
they do those things. So I don't know if it's
the number two led pencil, you still do that. So
that so, whoever, the NFL probably is a little bit older,
probably more our age, like you're telling you to put pencils,
pencils out.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
I still like I saw that.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
I honestly got a little shiver down my spine when
I saw that little tweet.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
I like that nostalgia.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Hey, it's a cracking ticket Tuesday here on Sports Radio
ninety three point three KJRFM. That's right, we're giving away
tickets all day, every hour on ninety three point three KJRFM.
Tenth caller. When you hear the sounder play, we'll get
a pair of tickets. How about this a Saturday night
game against the San Jose Sharks November fifteenth. Now MJ
pointing this out, it is a good point. It's San
Jose who's here tomorrow. But then we play, we cracking
(02:56):
play on the fifteenth against San Jose again. So the
two home games against San Jose happened within two weeks
of each other, less than two weeks of each other.
But it is a Saturday night game, Saturday, the fifteenth
of November, San Jose Sharks. When you hear that, be
the tenth callar two O six two A six ninety five,
ninety five to get those tickets to sound, not now,
not now in the year he sound, yes, yes, yes,
(03:16):
So there you go. That's coming up on the fifteenth.
MacLean Celebrini, great young star. We saw the number one
overall pick in twenty twenty three last night Connor Badard,
who every bit looks that part. And then we will
see the number one pick from twenty twenty four. Last year.
He wasn't Rookie of the Year probably I don't know
he should have been, but boy he's having a heck
of a second year. Macklean Celebrini. That's coming up on
(03:38):
the fifteenth, so listen for that as well. We're gonna
get to some stuff with Hugh Millen in a moment
because I thought he was really good with Mark today
and no need for us to call Hugh and have
him repeat everything he said with MJ and the Midday.
But I was listening and he has the breakdown of
Rashid Shaheed and we'll get to that in a second,
(04:00):
in just a couple moments, so stand by for that.
John Lenn's going to join us at two o'clock. That'll
kind of give us our time at two today to
really kind of go through the trade deadline. Who helped themselves,
especially in the NFC, if we're being honest, If I'm
being honest, I read that at AFC. I'm not really
that concerned about don't worry about that. I worry about
the NFC. And we'll see. I think Seattle got a
(04:25):
little bit better. Did they get enough better? Did they
get enough better for what they gave up? I guess
time will tell. It feels like it was a lot
like it feels like it was a big give up
for those two draft picks. We'll tell you what I
think they have left. Although it's like trying to find
a needle in the haystack to exactly get where they're
at in terms of draft picks. But I believe they
(04:46):
only have five for next year.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
You know they'll turn that into more, you would assume.
So that's a John Schneier special.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
That's a John Schneider specialty. So I don't I don't
necessarily worry about how many they have right now. I do.
I think we all would say, is it what you
did trade away? Is is the return of value? Time
will tell. On the surface, it feels like they gave
up a little bit too much for this player. But
(05:16):
we'll let Hugh tell you about that in just a
couple of seconds. Our kugs are going to join us,
coming up at one twenty or one thirty today. Sorry,
we'll talk to MK and Alex. I'm pissed off, to
be honest with you, I am not happy in any way,
shape or form about what happened, as are many of
us last week.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
I'm just Rosie.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
Yeah, you had to be there for it. That's oh yeah,
that was Paul wolf like offensive performance. Sorry. I know
people hate that. I know it gets people upset, but
that's still fair. That's what it was. It was. Kevin
Lapena is your quarterback, Paul Wolfe's the coach, and it
just that's what it looked like it was that bad.
And then some on Saturday against which is a bummer
(05:54):
because the defense was fantastic and the defense has given
you a chance to win most games this season, the
exception being the Washington game. The Huskies kind of boat
raced you defensively in the fourth quarter. There was some
things to that. I get it, But your defense gives
you a chance most of the time to win. Your
offense is awful. The quarterback is not good right now.
(06:15):
It's just so we'll get make break, explain why he's
he's gonna you know, he's usually the guy that defends
the quarterback or the offense or the offensive coordinators, so he.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
Can give me one.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
Yeah, what he'll do.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (06:25):
The defense, like by the way they've had they have
a lot of depth when it comes to the defensive
line specifically. Yeah, when it comes to numbers, they have
been out a lot of players, a.
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Lot of players.
Speaker 5 (06:36):
They're still playing well and really really playing well.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Yeah, they're really playing well. So the rest of it.
So anyway, I guess I need to kind of take
a step back sometimes and just say, hey, listen, I've
I've been the one all year that said this is
the year. That doesn't matter. You're just trying to get
ready for next year when you're back into a conference.
But watching what happened Saturday was that was embarrassing on
a lot of levels. Okay, the let's get to the
trade deadline, and I think, you know, one of the
(07:04):
things that we were looking to see if they would
do is would they go out and would they make
a move? Would they do something in terms of the
offensive line. It doesn't appear that they did that. I
think if we're being I think, if we're being I
(07:27):
guess honest, to go out and get a player that
you kind of already are are seemingly good. Hell, you
have a potential MVP at that cat at that part
right now with Rashid sh Heed, well with with JSN.
But to go get Rashid she Heed, I think it
caught a lot of us by surprise. Now does that
say there's something wrong with Cooper cup that's deeper? Did
(07:50):
they really are they? Because it as a two Tory
Horton looked okay the other day, right I was wondering,
I guess this is the good news is they didn't
go out and go after a middle linebacker, So hopefully
that means Ernest Jones is okay. You know, Rashid Shihed
this season has forty four catches for ninety nine two touchdowns,
(08:14):
just under five hundred yards at fourhundred and ninety nine.
As I mentioned on the season, averaging eleven yards per reception.
Is in his career, he's averaged fifteen about fifteen fourteen
point nine fifteen yards per catch. Thought to be a speedster,
But is he all right? Is he a speedster? So
Hugh Millan on earlier on in the eleven o'clock hour
(08:35):
with our guy MJ in the midday, and you know there,
I think this is a perfect breakdown, and MJ was
asking him what he thought of the trade, Like.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
It good move, bad move or just a meh move?
Speaker 2 (08:52):
What do you think?
Speaker 6 (08:55):
Probably closer to the ladder? From my perspective, since the
trade went down, I have looked at all sixty six
of the targeted plays to to Shaheed from this season.
A couple things. First of all, just let's just go bio.
(09:18):
He's five to ten and five eighths at the combine
one hundred and eighty five pounds. Now I think he's
added weight. He looks, he looks thicker. I think he
looks closer to you know, certainly north of one ninety
one ninety five is so he's that there's no forty
time on him. So I'm just going off with the
speed that I see on the tape. He turned twenty
(09:38):
seven on August thirty first of this year. He's in
his fourth year now. As as for you know, his profile,
I would say, given what I just said about is
his size and thirty one inch arms and everything, I
would project him. Normally those type of guys are slot receivers.
(10:01):
But this year he's got one hundred and eighty snaps
in the slot and two hundred and forty six out wide,
which are mostly distributed left and right. The year before,
when Clint Kubiak was the offensive coordinator at the Saints,
again see he'd had seventy snaps in the slot, two
(10:21):
hundred and fourteen out wide, and then the catches from
this year and last year are more or less commensurate
with those proportions. So so he has been more of
an outside receiver, both in terms of snaps and his catches.
In looking at him, I think there's a there's a
(10:43):
the quickness with his feet. He's got a sewing machine
quality to his feet at some of the top of
his brakes. I think his quickness now, he's got pump
returning kickoff return. I haven't really delved into that, but
just looking at the numbers. So he's got he's got
return quality aspects to his to his game. And you know,
(11:05):
they they run bubble screens to him, they run the
rocket sweeps to him, and.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
What have you.
Speaker 6 (11:11):
I think he's good, not elite in that regard as
an outside receiver. I think his long speed now, he
had a he had an eighty seven yard or on
a high corner route against the Raiders, I believe, but
but perfect dome eighty seven yard touchdown and I'm waiting
for I'm just kind of watching his long speed, who's
(11:32):
catching up to him and what have you?
Speaker 2 (11:34):
And I liked it. I thought it was good long speed.
Speaker 6 (11:37):
His quickness I think is is again a good not elite.
His toughness, Uh, they run a lot of slant routes. Uh,
you know, I think I think there's times I don't.
I don't think he's an elite a contested ball guy,
but he did show on a number of snaps some
toughness where you know, I think with the quarterbacking that
(11:58):
the Saints have had. Uh, there there's some late balls
in there. There's some dirted balls, so don't look at
the catch rate. But there's times where where you had
Spencer Rattler throw the ball in late. One of them
was against the Seahawks Tyocotta. He took he's taking some
blows going over the middle, and I would say I
would give him a good report in that regard. So
(12:21):
I I'm I'm a little bit surprised. I did not
like hearing that it was a fourth and fifth round.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
I know, I didn't like that either. Man two of.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
Them, Yeah, I went.
Speaker 6 (12:35):
You know, I'm I was actually studying the and and
the tape that I'm watching is is the inner cut.
It's the same stuff that the Seahawks watches, the coaches
copy from the NFL beat. And so I'm watching on
on one screen, I'm looking at the all twenty two,
the sideline copy. At the other end, I'm watching the
end zone copy. So I'm you know, I'm I'm ascertaining
(12:55):
these these observations based on those tapes. And and as
I'm watching, you know, the news breaks that it's a
fourth and fifth and and.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
That kind of sary you a little bit? You it
did for me?
Speaker 6 (13:08):
I lie, yeah, I mean you know, I I spend
a lot of time studying the draft in my years
at kJ R, and so I think I'm gonna like
it the pick this Sunday. I don't think I'm gonna
like the pick in the third week of April, if
that makes sense. So he better do something between.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Now and the end of the year.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
Well, by the way, I love it.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
I love it. I don't.
Speaker 6 (13:33):
You don't like how I said that?
Speaker 4 (13:34):
No, I like what you said there. He doesn't have
to prove anything to me.
Speaker 6 (13:37):
Well, you don't have to, but but for me as
a fan, I think there's gonna have to be, you know,
some good production, some real good production before I'm gonna
be happy about giving up the fourth and a fifth
round or form.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
Yeah, And just the thing, I believe this to be
the case that if we look and see, you know
what what left on the table for the draft next season,
the sex of a first round, second round, third round.
So day one they'll have one. Day two they'd have
two picks, a second and a third, and Day three
the draft. Right now, I believe just two sixth round picks.
(14:15):
Two picks on day three. That won't stay the same.
That will definitely not stay the same because it's John Schneider.
He cannot There's no way he'll go into day three
with just two picks and waiting until the sixth round,
which would mean you wouldn't pick until god win, three o'clock.
This is two o'clock, one o'clock, and we'll all be there.
I guess I won't be I won't be there at
nine o'clock in the morning. They ain't gonna pick tell then,
(14:35):
But that said the uh, but that's that's what they
are right now. Here's the thing with the production wise,
and this is kind of an interesting thing. And I
don't know if if this was a concern. When you
have the player that leads the NFL in receiving yards
in JSN but your number two, guy Cooper Cup, is
(14:57):
sixty fifth in the NFL and receiving yards, he's eighty
six this Cooper Cup. In targets, he's eighty sixth in receptions.
So those numbers, you have a one and then you
have a massive drop off. Is Rashid Shaheed gonna help
(15:20):
you in that regard? Maybe I'm not saying it's Cooper
Cup's problem or fault, but it's not like they have,
at least statistically, statistically, they don't have a one two
punch it wide receiver. So maybe that's why this guy helps.
And is it worth a fourth and a fifth. Here's
(15:41):
why it's worth a fourth and a fifth. You have
to sometimes and man, for years we've had you know,
you have to look and understand what the Seahawks are thinking. Now,
we don't know one hundred percent, but you can read
the tea leaves pretty well. We've talked to I talked
about it a lot on this radio station over the years.
(16:03):
They don't ever think in terms of rebuild. They don't
think in terms of, hey, maybe next year unless the
record in the season dictates that. But by and large,
the way that front office works and the way that
organization works, and if you're a Seahawks fan, you have
to love it. Now, it hasn't worked out in terms
(16:23):
of playoff wins and getting back to a conference title
game and all that in a while. But I'm going
to tell you the one thing I am really confident
with when I tell you this, from being around that
organization for a long time and covering them for a
long time here and parts all across the country. They
(16:44):
have the pedal to the metal. They push the gas pedal,
and they push it every year. They are an aggressive
thinking organization. So while on paper, a fourth and a
fifth for a guy that's okay, his production has been
okay and as Hugh broke down the tape, maybe not
(17:05):
as explosive as the reputation may say. This is an
organization that made that move for one reason, and that's
the reason is that they think they're a contender. They
think that they are a contender. They're in a go
for it mode. That's how they operate. They're very, very aggressive.
I love it, I mean, and sometimes it backfires.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
Jamal Adams, I was just gonna say, twenty five, twenty five.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
Jamal Adams backfired big time. But when they went out
and got big cat Leonard Williams, I didn't backfire. Now,
they didn't get to where they wanted to be that year,
but they resigned the guy and kept him around, right.
So I think that's one of the things to keep
in mind, that they are an organization that is very aggressive,
(17:54):
and I think if you're a fan, you have to
love that. I think you have to love the mentality of,
you know, especially in a salary cap league, that they
do whatever they can to push the envelope and get
to that point of doing the best that they possibly
can in the season in which they feel like they
are a true contender. And I think that's what they're
(18:16):
thinking right now. Now. Does this guy put them over
the top. I'm not saying that by any means, So
don't put words in my mouth. I'm not saying that
they you know, I'm not saying necessarily that they're going
to win this whole thing and that this guy puts
them over the top. I'm just telling you that how
they operate, how they operate is we're going to go
for it and try to make the best run possible
every year. I was talking to MJ earlier. You know,
(18:37):
they've done this before with guys and mid season trades
with expiring contracts and people go, God, that's a lot
to give up, or why are you giving that up?
And while they may not extend said player initially, Leonard
Williams and Ernest Jones both worked out pretty well. Right
get him in the building. See what it looks like.
Are these guys that we can sign to another contract
and keep them here for a long time. And those
(18:58):
guys both were dudes that did that Ernst Jones last
year and obviously a couple three years ago it was
Leonard Williams. So maybe this is a guy you keep
around and your trio of wide receivers the rest of
this season and moving ahead is JSN, Rashid chi Heat
and Tory Horton. I'm okay with that. Pretty good, pretty
good weapons.
Speaker 5 (19:16):
Especially touchdown toy. Yeah, especially when you can't run the football. Ooh,
that's sort okay, kind.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
Of maybe maybe needed some more weapons on the outside
because at some point someone might actually scheme up. Somebody
may scheme up at some point and actually, I don't know,
trying to figure out a way to bracket and you know,
just absolutely shut down JSN. So you need the other
guys do it now. Last week, obviously Tory Horton had
a couple of touchdowns. Cody White had the one as well,
But you get the point. I mean, that was bad
defense they are playing. Probably won't see a defense that
(19:44):
bad the rest of the year. Okay, we'll come back.
Don't forget cracking ticket too, say when you hear the
sounder be the tenth color two six two a six
ninety five ninety five two six two eight six ninety
five ninety five tickets for the fifth game on the
fifteenth of November against the San Jose Sharks. Smacklin Celebrate Company.
They're also here tomorrow the Sharks. But the game is
that we're giving tickets. Way is for November fifteenth, John London,

Here's the in with the Cougar legends.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
All right, here we go, checking in with our kugs,
our weekly visit, heading into a bye week, thankfully before
the final few games of the season for the Cougs.
It has been a year some highs and some lows
for this team. And the low might have been the
rock bottom that was on Saturday, which we're going to
get into in a second. MK is here, Alex is here,
(21:34):
and in away we go, h and we'll do a
segment here and then a quick short segment to end
in a minute that one. I want to kind of
go bigger picture with some things in a second on
this by week, guys, but we got to react to
what happened on Saturday. And I'll start and Alex, I
want you to jump in, and then MK as well.
(21:54):
I just I think what happens Saturday offensively is unacceptable.
I just I just think it's it's you know, for
you're trying to keep a fan base engaged. You're trying
to keep you know, you're trying to build off some
momentum of you know, listen, m CA, you said it
last week. There's no such thing as a an emotion
What is it? You know, a win that kind of matters,
an emotional win or you know you can't take moral victory, right,
(22:18):
I don't know. Man A one to seven team shout
out to coach Ake Alex. You warned us last week
about him, and we all know what he's capable of.
When your defense has what it was it seven tackles
for loss and a whole a handful of sacks, five
sacks or something and holds the other team to Temple,
you gotta win that football game. You gotta win that
football game. And I just I don't understand it. But Alex,
(22:40):
you were there. You can maybe explain what happened to
me offensively, because the defense played well enough to win
almost any game you play. Explain, Alex, please explain.
Speaker 7 (22:48):
Yeah. I mean, look, any time you score seven points
in a football game, it's I think anybody would tell
you it's unacceptable for sure, and you know there was
there were some place to be made. But I mean,
if I'm being on guys like, it's really hard to
operate an offensive game plan when you have four out
of five offensive linemen in different spots, you know what
(23:09):
I mean. And so I go back to You've got
both both your right tackles starting backup, right tackle out,
you move your left guard to right tackle. You have
a brand new left guard in making a second start,
and then in game your center, your veterans for your
starting center goes down. You got a brand new center
is never taking a snap, and then your right guard
has been banged up all year. So you run out
(23:30):
a true freshman to try and to try and you know,
see if you can find some consistency at that position.
I mean other than your left guard ash and trip
or left tackle ashing trip. Like I said, four out
of five players really hadn't seen meaningful snaps and you know,
in in those positions. So I saw that inconsistency very
much so. But at the same time, like I will say,
(23:50):
like there was there are throws to be made, there
was runs to be had. You know, there were some
opportunities that you probably don't score more than more than
fourteen or twenty one points, but that's all you need
to score because your defense is playing so good, and
so I think for you know, for Washington State, it's
trying to figure out, you know, this is the reality, right,
how do you make it work over the next three games,
(24:11):
because you know the goal is to try and get
bull eligible and they need to get two out of three.
Speaker 8 (24:16):
And there's there's two parts to this. I mean, I'll
start with the defense. I mean, defensively, they played so well.
I mean, to have two turnovers on your side and
still you know, have your back against the wall, go
out and hold a team to ten points. And let's
be real, I mean, Hankerson is is one hell of
a back. If you've seen this guy run, he's one
of the best in the nation. But his feet and
(24:38):
knees were going consistently. He hit every single hole super
hard and it wasn't just one guy taking him down.
I mean he was absolutely terrorizing out there. You know,
I think he had like one hundred and forty on
the ground. But I was talking about this with Coach Ake.
Those of you who have watched Coach Ake, he was
the most energetic person we've ever seen on the sideline before.
And Oregon State needed something like that in their locker
(24:58):
room to have them believe that they can do something.
And uh, he had these guys he he he gets
his defense pin their ears back, has him go. So
you have this Washington State line that's you know, balanced,
they're balancing around now, they're dealing with different positions and
they had blitzes coming. They don't know how to you know,
audible get into different positions and like that organst they
had seven sacks, seven sacks, two interceptions.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
It's tough.
Speaker 8 (25:21):
So to watch that offense out there, it was. It
was painful to watch.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
It was hard. Yeah, I felt like, I mean, honestly,
I'll be honest with you, that offense looked like O
waito nine Paul Wolf offense like and I thought I
thought it might have been been Kevin Lapina playing quarterback
as opposed as I mean, my god, it was just
it was that bad. And I understand the offensive lineux
I get that. I also think that's a program issue.
You gotta you know, that's a that's an off season
(25:45):
which will get too bigger pictcher in a second, Like
you got guys on scholarship. They're one seven football team.
They're not good and you know, if they would have
got beat like by Toledo or something. I think I
would have dealt with it, like you, Okay's a good
Mac team, like you know, they and their physical and
all that. You know, Akey just got him going. I
get that. Let's talk about zeb Alex because the weird
(26:07):
thing is and this is what and I'm I don't
want to say I'm speaking for all fans. I'm speaking
for some fans that I've heard from and Jess probably
has heard from, and you guys are probably heard from
the whole. First of all, not an indictment on Jimmy Rodgers. Man,
I think this guy, I think we got a coach,
Like I think we got a guy at least, I
mean we could see it on the defense. We see
what hell they lost and they lose their best linebacker
(26:27):
this year before he even took a snap, right, like
they they've lost dudes, They lost dudes, you know.
Speaker 7 (26:33):
Deep on the defensive life basically.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
Exactly right, And like this kind of has a Mike
McDonald feel to it, Like this guy knows how to
scheme up a defense. He knows how to get the
best out of guys that are backups in a lot
of cases like and that's what McDonald's doing with the
Hawks right now in the second year. That's what this
guy's doing. I him and Bobb it a plus we're
all over that one. Outside of the ub game. There
(26:56):
the quarterback thing. I have to rap By, Like what's
going on? So Zeby can't play the first few games
and you won't put him in no matter what. Then
you take out, then you take Potter out, you put
zev in, and now you can't take zev out and
you say there's plays to be made, Alex, like it's
got to be one or the other. Like like, is
if and if Potter is going to be the guy
next year, wouldn't that have been the game? Like hey, man, Zey,
(27:17):
take a series off or something because you just don't
have it. You look like a deerren headlights right now.
Speaker 7 (27:21):
Well again, like the right the issue, I mean one
of the biggest one of Jackson Potter's bigger issues is
you know he's kind of his either lack of a
mobility or inability or unwillingness to use his legs right
and like when you're playing behind a completely remade offensive line,
right you know where you're giving up some sacks, like
you need. And that's where I mean Zeb's biggest plays. Right,
(27:42):
we're with his legs even though he's admittedly banged up,
and they've all said he's banged up, like we don't
know what's going on, but he's not moving as good
as he was moving as you dub right, And so
you know, I think the for me, it's more about
you know, Zev is a veteran player, right like taking
you know, making throws when when they're there. Right, he
(28:02):
had a he had a big third down throw to
Josh Meredith that he's out on the run and they
had a miscommunication. He missed him there. You know, the interception,
the second interception was egregious, like kid just can't have
it like late in the late over the middle in
the red zone. You know, the play at the end,
the third downplay at the end before the field goal
was it was not the right play call by any
means in that situation. But you can't you can't like
(28:24):
lose yardage like you get stuck, you take a sack
on the right or it's better. So for Zebby, it's
I think he can do the things. It's and he's
shown he can. It's doing them consistently and in the
moments you need him to as a veteran player, because
that's why he's in there, right. He gives you this
veteran presence, he gives you this spark. But you know
(28:45):
there's some downside you can see when he's not making
the right decisions, which is probably why he wasn't in
the starter out of to start the season.
Speaker 8 (28:51):
Yeah, but even with his legs, like we would go
get those first downs, it's like, man, it's it changes
its sparks. It gives you this this big momentum change.
And I think the hard part is he runs what
some of the runs is like he ran when you
should have passed it, or he passed when he should
have ran it, right, and just understanding that. And we
saw at the end he got gassed a couple of
those big runs. He was absolutely gassed at the end,
(29:12):
and I think that's why he took one of those sacks.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
He was just he was a gassed that play, that
last play. Glad you brought it up. He'll wrap it
up this segment with this. That last play is the
one that I think kind of bothered a lot of people.
And I think what it was was this the they
were playing to tie, they weren't playing to win, and
then you put your kicker in a really a right
footed kicker in a really tough angle like that. Just
(29:34):
I don't know if that's a zeb decision or if
that's a if that's a a play call decision, but
that was weird.
Speaker 7 (29:41):
So I'll give you. I'll give you what I think happened,
because I don't know. I haven't talked to Danny Froyd
about it. I don't know that. I don't know the
exact mechanics of it. But if you think about that drive,
you hand the ball off to Nashville Woods and Kirby
Vore he's what two or three times, which basically gets
you down there, you know, and then they get to
that third down and they bring in Woods and Voorhees
(30:04):
into the same in the personnel group. Right, So this
is anykay can speak to this, Right, You bring in
a personnel group with two tight ends, and so what
I think the idea is that the defense corner is
gonna be like, oh, that's run, and we're gonna play
man and we're gonna believe it's run. Right, And then
the play call was empty formation Vorhees and maxall woods outside,
and I think it was to make them go, oh shoot,
(30:25):
we don't know what's happening. And it was not designs
Zebie run. It was a fake sprint out to throw
a tight end in the back corner of the end zone, right,
so get everybody to think Zebby's running the ball and
then to throw it. Like again, the thought process and
the potential there is probably fine. But the downside, and
this is the biggest thing, is the downside is you
(30:45):
take a sack on the right hash and your kicker
gets a short right hash kick, which is really hard
for kickers, right footed kickers.
Speaker 4 (30:51):
It just is what it is.
Speaker 7 (30:52):
And so you know, I think they all kind of said,
you know, and Zebbie would tell you too, probably need
to just throw that ball out of bounds or out
of the back of the end zone. And now you
got the ball middle, you know, middle, and you don't
lose yardage. So all around, I think you put your
player in a bad position and your player doesn't make
a good play. It doesn't make the right decision. But
the thought process of the actual play was not wrong.
(31:12):
It just was really poorly executed. Frankly, That's why we
had them.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
That's why we have one. That's why we have QB
one on right there, MK, That's why you have mon.
That makes sense. I don't know if I feel. I
don't know if I feel I don't know.
Speaker 9 (31:23):
If no, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (31:24):
If I'm run better.
Speaker 7 (31:25):
But on Tuesday morning, if I'm Tuesday morning quarterback, if
I'm Tuesday morning quarterback, in this thing, you just had
ten runs, ten to ten plus yard runs by Nashvill,
Woods and Kirby Bore, he'd probably hand the.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Ball running hard. Yeah, I agree. All right, Well take
quick break, come back, wrap things up with the coops
on the Spy Week nine three point three k ter FM.
All right, welcome back in, Alex and MK are here.
Let's fuck bigger picture. Would we agree?
Speaker 1 (31:54):
MK?
Speaker 2 (31:54):
I'll start with you. Would we agree the defense were
good with the progression, what they're doing, what they're doing defensively,
I mean, obviously personnel wise, they need to upgrade some things,
and guys are banged up this year, but we'd agree
they're okay. And that's side the ball.
Speaker 8 (32:05):
They're playing great. I mean, I love the packages were
putting in. I love how we're blitzing. Love how we're tackling.
I mean, Plano has been absolutely amazing. Frances has been
freaking coming downhill like hell bent. I love the d
line played a couple of sloppy penalties, but other than that, man,
they're playing hard like I loved it, Like they played
with the chip on their shoulder, and it's like something
we haven't seen in a long time collectively from Washington State.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
So I'm happy with it, which is wild because the
previous head coach is a defensive guy too, But that's fine,
all right, let's uh alex offensive side of the football.
The I want to start just with the quarterback. That's
whatever he looks at. Zevy's gone after this year, is
out of eligibility. Do you do you think that they
have something in Potter? Do you think they have something
in Dugard? Do you think they have to go somewhere else?
(32:46):
I mean, what's your thoughts on moving ahead bigger picture?
Quarterback wise?
Speaker 7 (32:52):
Well, I think, I mean, who knows, I guess. I mean,
I think I think Jackson Potter has shown some some
really good things throwing the ball early in this season.
I think he'll learn a lot from that experience, for sure,
just being around him, like he's a really solid kid
that can be a leader, and I think can handle
the situation he was in. I think Julian Douggar is
an elite physical talent and you know, his same thing.
(33:15):
His experience, while not fantastic, will will benefit him potentially.
I've heard incredible things about the true freshman on the
roster from he's from Kansas. I can't met his names
or from Nebraska. My name and his name's escaping me,
but I've heard that he's got a real shot to
be in the mix also, so I think I think
the quarterback of the future for Washing stays on this roster.
(33:36):
I don't know, I don't know who it is, right,
but what I do think is that and this is
this is where everybody, you know, you already talked about it,
like you believe in Jimmy Rodgers. You believe that he
can scheme of defense, he can find personnel, he can
find coaching staffs, like you know, we're what seven eight games,
nine games into the first season here of a season
(33:56):
that has tagged, like you said, ups and downs, but
some real silver linings along the way, with some real challenges,
like I want across the board offense, defense, special teams.
Like let's see it play out for a couple of
years before we make before we make Paul Wolf Paul
Wolf offense comparisons, or like decide one or the other
where this thing's at. Like I think there is something there,
and mostly because the headman seems to have a good
(34:17):
a good finger on things, and like, let's see where
it goes. But I do think the quarterback of this
the future is on this roster.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
The offensive line is obviously the issue. Well, that and
the I mean Angel Johnson. Trace Gregg had a twenty
one yard run. That's more yards I think in one
run than he's had all year. I mean, I'm not
sure if he's made a guy miss I love Warhe's
like Vorheas runs hard large, I mean super hard.
Speaker 9 (34:38):
Woods looked really good.
Speaker 2 (34:39):
I mean Wood is good. Yeah, I got it.
Speaker 7 (34:41):
You know, Varheas and Woods are underclassman Loopool off season
under class You've got You're going to get Trey Leckner back,
you know, potentially, you know, receivers, you got to find
some spots for sure. And then offensive line, I mean,
part of the benefit of playing these young guys is
like they're getting they're getting some reps.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
You know, right now, I'm a big fan of offensive line.
You can build something with it. And that building starts
in December, and I'll go to mister, mister Olympia here,
uh like, like seriously, MK, and you've worked I mean
he worked with a high school team this year. They
went to you for a reason. You know, I watched.
I watched my kids do it, uh you know as
(35:17):
small school. But I watched them just come together as
a group and and and frankly didn't miss a game.
And you know why. They worked their ass off in
the weight room. They looked the part and that. But
that's that's the thing. Like, MK, I look at that
offensive line, young guys, old guys, doesn't matter, first string,
four string, dude, find your way to the weight room.
Like like, I think you can build that offensive line.
(35:37):
I don't think you need to go to the portal
and go find it. Guy. Hell LSU did that this year.
They spent a ton of money going to the offensive
line into the portal. I think those guys got fat
and happy and the coach get fired, like, like, it
is no fun to play that position. You got to
have a work ethic, MK. You watch those guys go
against defenses. Can you build an offensive line that way?
Can you? I mean, maybe bring them to the Buffalo gym.
I don't know.
Speaker 8 (35:57):
You know, the crazy thing is, I was just talking
to somebody about this. I wish I knew now what
I know now back then, right, so, we was talking
about these different eras of how we're growing and adapting.
I went back to Washington State. You look inside the
locker room, and you know, they have supplements, they have meals,
they have protein, they have all these things that we
didn't have Alex when we were playing, Like we were
eating Chopo's Diner down the street in Regent's Hall and
(36:19):
had no idea about portions. I'm you know, filling my
plate with noodles and bread and just trying to figure
out weight gainer and stuff like that and figured out
what creating was. And these guys now, the programs are
so dow.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
Then.
Speaker 8 (36:30):
You know, they have some programs with everybody's shoulders hurts
because you know, their coach they got off the you know,
out of Gold's gym, and all they're doing is, you know,
weird shoulder movements that are hurting the players. Now collectively
they have these workout routines and proteins and everything to
where everybody's growing at the same level, which I love.
So Washington stand thing is doing a great job, But
it goes back to nil. It goes goes back to recruiting.
(36:53):
What's our thought process of developing players like you were
talking about. But I do think the gold standard is
going to be Juco's. I think a lot of coaches
and universities are gonna go after these young guys, the
Blue Chippers, all these guys, and they're gonna kind of
forget about the last chance you or the guy that
maybe made a mistake that had to go to Juco
and fix something that can play right now. And I
(37:14):
think that's the thing that coach is gonna look for,
is some of these Juco players.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
Well, I think not even Juco. I think it's I
think it's even FCS. I think it's D two, it's
D three. It doesn't matter because those guys are all
getting pushed down with guys staying five years, because guys
getting paid like every guy, like like the high school
recruiting is for some of the bigger schools is like
not an afterthought. But hell, I mean Alex you work
with quarterbacks. You know, these quarter especially quarterbacks, they are like, yeah,
(37:38):
I'm gonna go here, and then I'm not gonna play,
so I'm gonna go there. I mean, look at Sam Huart,
He's been to like six schools. Guy's number one guy
in the country. But there's guys getting pushed down. I
think offensive line, maybe even to a certain extent, the
defensive line, those guys, the big hogs up front. I
think you can develop those guys with fixed ye.
Speaker 7 (37:55):
I mean, like, well just look about look at semi
recent history of Washington State, right, Like the best offensive
lineman in recent memory at Washington State were from the
state of Washington. Yes, they're relatively likely recruited. Whether it
was Andre Dillard, whether it was Abe Lucas, whether it
was you know, Cody O'Connell, whether it was I mean,
like I mean, we could go you know, like there's
(38:17):
these guys you know right now, Ashton Trip. You know,
brock Do really was not that highly thought of early
in his career at Washington State. He really worked to
get to that point. Like you said, weight room, he's
super intelligent player. Like offensive lineman, it's a three year
process of them hinting to where they need to be right,
So they come in usually they're a little under developed physically,
like you said, and you hit the weight room, you
(38:38):
hit the training table, you do all that, you get
physically better. You know, you're I'm looking at I think Martin,
the backup center that came in right, he's I mean,
he's a sophomore, Like he looks like a totally fine player.
Like and the true freshman on the right at right guard, like,
they're gonna be fine. It's but it is probably a
two or three year process. You remember Falley, You remember
his first start right Oregon State in Corvallis. Cam Ward's
(39:02):
first year total debacle. We all walked away from that game, like, well,
who's cam Ward? What's follow Lee Oi going to do
playing right tackle? Oh, this is the worst offense we've
ever seen. Cam Moore's a number one overall draft pick.
Two years later, Paul mooy is going to be a
first round draft pick when he leaves. Wait for us, right, like,
I mean, honestly, like, that's that's the development timeline that
is hard for us all to wrap our head round.
Speaker 8 (39:23):
But it's the reality being a true freshman starting in
one of these you know, bigger leagues. Uh you know,
uh Power five conference all online planning against a senior
d tackle or senior defensive end. Could you imagine that
coming up of a high school fear and having to
block somebody like that?
Speaker 2 (39:40):
That's all well, it's and I think that's what it
goes back to, because I think it does have to
start with with the offensive line and the defensive line
to a certain extent as well. And that's why like,
don't don't have the coup Collective cent and the stuff
altcoho and hey man, you got to donate. Now we
just lost to Oregon. Say we've got to donate. No, man,
you got to get dudes in the weight room and
you got to develop guys. You want to tell me
you got to donate for a quarterback or something. Sure,
that's great, that's cool, But I think, like you said, Alex,
(40:01):
there's guys in this program. That's not how Wazu's gonna
operate moving forward. They just can't be you know, we're
not gonna be able to compete with that. You gotta donate,
you gotta do. You got to do your part. I
get that, but let's develop them dudes in the weight room.
Let's let's see what December Janet. Now, I think the
bowl game is important, guys, really, I got we gotta
wrap it up. I think it's really important, Alex, would
you agree, Like, get to a bowl game, helping these guys.
You're not losing. Ain't nobody nobody on this team's opted
(40:22):
out to go to the NFL like.
Speaker 7 (40:23):
And again, I think I said before, with only one
portal window, the later you play into the winner, the
more important it is. Because the more visible you are
as you head into the portal, the longer you get
to keep.
Speaker 4 (40:34):
Your guys in the building with you.
Speaker 7 (40:37):
Practicing, playing all the things. So I mean that's super important.
Speaker 2 (40:40):
I'm with you, all right. Tell us about the shoe company, Alex.

it now with John Lunn.
Speaker 4 (42:37):
Here's Ian.
Speaker 2 (42:38):
I just thought of that. I hadn't heard that, and
listen to that closely enough for a while. We are old.
We are old.
Speaker 9 (42:44):
Old for yourself, you're old, very young and rant over here.

They're here tomorrow back they have like two games against
that same team in like less than two weeks, which
is weird in the NHL. But get a chance to
watch celebrating Mark. He's good. He is really, really really good.
Speaker 9 (43:25):
He's it.
Speaker 10 (43:26):
He is it.
Speaker 2 (43:27):
He is really it. Seattle's a good team, but they
don't have it. They have any the San Jose. All right,
let's get to it. We got trade deadline has come
and gone. Also, tell me all real quick, we'll do
it again at the end. The new the new kind
of venture you've kind of transitions from John London Leash
into all football right.
Speaker 9 (43:44):
Yeah, it's called pfb wire. It's on YouTube and all
social media. We'll put a ton of social media out
today at pfb wire if you go to Twitter, Acts,
all those kind of places, and I'm putting videos together
right now with opinions on all of the trades that happens.
So thank you very much at pfb wire, cross all
social media and YouTube.
Speaker 2 (44:01):
Go check you my yes, go check that stuff. So
it was a busy day for all those covering the
NFL Niners kind of quiet right in the trade deadline
October November with disappointing up.
Speaker 9 (44:12):
Yeah, disappointing because look, whether you want to admit it
or not. And I know we're gonna get into a
lot of sextus shit. They're extremely impressive and one of
the better teams in the NFL. But the forty nine ers,
I don't know how they've done it. Duck tape, whatever
the case may be, to be six and three, and
they have Kyle Shanahan maybe if they were to keep
this up, the coach of the Year. And I know
what Mike McDonald's doing. I get it. A bunch of
people are screaming and hissing, and you know, upset, Hey,
(44:34):
Mike McDonald's doing a great job. But they're literally being
held together with duck tape. They have by far the
most injuries financially in any other way that you look
at it in the league, and yet there they are,
and especially defensively, and they haven't had thirty for seven weeks,
and et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. I expect anybody
to feel sorry for him, but to not go out today.
And I realized, and I know what John Lynch is
going to say without him saying it because he set
(44:55):
up to my face before, which is, hey, it takes two.
We tried, blah blah blah. Sports. This is not about
we tried. Sports is about accomplishing thing. Damn we lost
with three seconds our kick or missed, whatever the case
may be. You have to execute. And it's not only
on the field. It's on coaches, it's on management, it's
on everybody to execute and put that right player and
get that right player. Fred Warner is not replaceable, but
(45:17):
they've got some linebackers that can still play. Tatum Bethune
is one of the guys. But there's no pass rush.
I don't care if you get calling, you know, if
you get Faral, you know, he's horrible. The former Raider
and they had him before. He's not a pass rusher.
They picked up a guy from New England. He's not
a pass rusher. He's an inside out kind of a guy.
They lose mckel Williams, so they lost Bosa. They lost
(45:38):
mkel Williams or number one overall, picked the kid from
Georgia who's an edge guy. Their defensive line is devastated.
And so I understand what the Niners are doing. And
this is something we can get into with the Seahawks,
You've got to balance your team out as far as
who you're going to sign. The Seahawks are going to
have a lot of players that they're gonna have to
sign coming up, so they got to be careful here,
and they did a smart thing today. The Niners need,
(45:59):
you know, to come through and to balance their sheet
as well as play well because they're very top heavy.
But there's no excuse for the way that they're playing
right now to stay in this thing and to not
get an edge rusher. I don't care if it's Tray
Hendrickson or Bradley Chubb or whomeveryone's out there. They did
their team a disservice. And and you know this because
you've been in the locker room tons in your career.
(46:20):
What happens in that locker room is you either believe
in this or you don't. And they don't care if
you tried, they care if you executed. And then forty
nine ers did not get a much much needed addresser.
They've been one of the worst team statistically getting to
the quarterback and not just sacks, pressures, all those different
things analytically since Bosa went down. I think that's a
huge win for the rest of the division, that the
(46:40):
forty nine ers couldn't get something obvious like this any
Edgresher done today.
Speaker 2 (46:45):
I think, I think what you said about the locker
room's big, it's it's you know, we've seen that even
in baseball here with the Mariners over the years, when
they don't make a move, you know, they you know,
I thought when they traded for Gino, even before they
traded for Josh Naylor, they traded for Geno and that
was just a that was honestly in a lot of ways. Now,
he hit a huge home run in the ALCS. I
get that they end up losing it, but he still
hit that home run in Game five. But that was
(47:07):
such a big statement, Hey, we're gonna go get Gino.
We're gonna get him. Okay, we're gonna grab this guy.
We believe in what you guys are doing. And that
was such a boost of that locker room. Even though
if the guy struck out eighty percent of his at bats,
you know, I mean, it was still you know, good
ViBe's only way we go. And Thenablor obviously put him
over the top to get to the ALCS. I think
football is the same way we've seen this over the years, right,
(47:28):
It's it's very much the same way where guys are
gonna sit there and go, okay, you know, like here
we are at six and three, if you're the forty
nine ers, despite all the injuries, we're still very very
much in it. But then front office does nothing. Meanwhile,
the Rams did a little, Seahawks did a little bit more.
Philadelphia added three impact players. You could argue, right, and
(47:51):
in NFC that's wide open, John wide open. I gotta
think that's just a for guys like Kittle when McCaffrey
specifically like Trent Williams're like, what do we do?
Speaker 9 (48:00):
Yeah? Right, Well, And I was down there a couple
of days ago and George Kittle said, flat out, we've
got to win football games on offense. Now. I mean
he was sending a message as a veteran leader, as
the veteran leader now that Fred Warner's gone, as the
veteran leader, to the front office, to say get us something.
He said, flat out, with no rip to the defense,
(48:20):
with Fred out, with Nick out, with Mickel Williams their
first round pick out of Georgia out, we have got
to score points on offense. He said, we got to
score thirty plus points a game to win football games.
And you know as well as I do, and everybody
does listening, the best way that you can when you
know your team is really good is when they can
win multiple ways. You want to slug it out, fine,
you want to win sixteen thirteen, good, you want to
(48:41):
win a shootout, we can do that. You look at
Seattle right now, and they're a team that can win
multiple ways. The Rams can win multiple ways, the Lions
can win multiple ways. I'm not saying every week teams
get beat. I realize the Lions got beat by the Vikings.
But what I'm saying is the best teams in the
NFL can sit down and say, if you want to
play dirty, we'll get in the mud. If you want
to shoot it out, we can do that. Then Niners
have one way to win now, which is they got
(49:03):
to score thirty. Because you and I talked about this
from the beginning of the season. They were going to
be young on defense anyway, and now they're just so
banged up. And as we pointed out, if you don't
send a message to your locker room. And I get it, John,
I know John Lynch before he even says that he's
gonna have a press conference later today, and he's going
to say we tried. Because they're aggressive. They're like the Seahawks,
they're like John Snyder. They're in on everything, and they're
(49:24):
going to say they tried. But it's just like saying
that a player tried. It's the same exact thing. You
either execute and get it done or you don't. That's
what sports are about.
Speaker 2 (49:32):
Think with the NFL is hard to figure out sometimes
too though, is you know, at the trade deadline here
you're eight, you know, eight games into the season, and
are you in it or are you not? Now some
teams are nine games in, so we're basically at the
halfway mark. Is when they have the trade deadline, which
frankly is you know, if you look at it from
a sports standpoint, probably in some ways you can make
(49:53):
an argument me the best time to have a trade deadline, right,
you're halfway through, make a decision or don't right like
like beable always start very in NBA, NHL, wait till
the very end. These guys are halfway through and you're
gonna make a decision. You look at it like, what
is Dallas. Doing you work there? Like, what do they do?
They're three to five and one. They just lost to
the Cardinals, for God's sakes.
Speaker 9 (50:12):
I think it's obvious in having worked there for a
number of years and seeing Jerry face to face with
the scary in and of itself. The plastic is amazing
on his face, but it is scary. It's like, anyway,
I shouldn't take personal shots, but that's what I do.
So he does it for headlines. He's not in he's
not doing it for any reason other than football reasons.
Last night, he shouldn't have said anything as he did.
(50:33):
He said, we already have a trade in place. He
said it last night before the loss of the Cardinals. Look,
first of all, that's a horrible trade. The Jets were
the real winners today getting all their picks, and if
you don't have a quarterback in the building, you have nothing.
So the Jets in two years is supposed to be
a really good draft. They've got so many draft picks
in twenty six and twenty seven they can move up
and get any quarterback they want. And when you have that,
(50:53):
then you have something going on in your building. Until
you do, you just don't but the reality of it
is for Jerry is he went out and got Quinn Williams,
a former name. Quinn Williams isn't that good anymore. I
take both defensive tackles that the Seahawks have right now,
and maybe the Seahawks have the best defensive tackle combo
in all of the league right now, But I mean,
I'd take both those guys ahead of Quinn Williams. I
think Quinn Williams might be a top fifteen defensive tackle
(51:14):
at this point. Again, analytics, how much you believe in
those When it comes to football. He's going the wrong way,
and you know he's twenty eight, twenty nigga, twenty nine
years old, and I just I just don't understand. But
what when you know Jerry and when you understand that
he's running not a football team but a reality show,
and he's much more worried about being the team that
(51:36):
has worked the most and people are buzzing about talking
about That's why he said that he knew Stephen A.
Smith was in town, he knew ESPN was in town.
He wanted to say something, Hey, we got a trade
in place, and Logan Wilson wasn't going to do much.
I like Logan Wilson. He's not a bad player, but
he had to get a big name if he was
going to talk that way. So Quinn Williams is a
big name, but you gave up a first a second.
Mouse Smith is nothing. He's a terrible bust out of Michigan,
(51:58):
a former first round pick. But the to give up
a first in a second for a declining player like
that is so Jerry Jones just to get the headline.
He wants to win the press conference, not football games.
Speaker 2 (52:09):
It's hard, John Lone joining us. The hard thing in
the NFC is convincing yourself and maybe the fan base
that you're out of it when you're three and five
and there's that log jam, you know, Minnesota even at
four and four, Minnesota Forum four three, five and one, Dallas, Arizona,
if you're starting, by the way they mentioned the headlines
are starting Jacoby Brissett again this week against Seattle. They're
(52:32):
out of it, but they're three and five. Atlanta's three
and five, Washington's three and six. You can make an
argument the Giants and the Saints the only ones that
are truly out of it, because if you have three
wins you're only two wins out of the final wildcard
spot right now. But being realistic, you look at who's
in there. Philadelphia, Tampa, Bay, Seattle, Green Bay, the Rams,
(52:52):
San Franciscoing Detroit. Those are one through seven. Chicago loses
a tiebreaker, they're five and three. They're gonna be hanging
around battle for a playoff spots. Thrist, those teams aren't
in it. You're not in it, Like you're not a
playoff team. You can try to convince yourself you are.
You're not a playoff team for three and five in
the NFC right now.
Speaker 9 (53:10):
Plus you owe it.
Speaker 2 (53:11):
You know.
Speaker 9 (53:11):
Here's the thing, and fans know this, and they're smart.
We're more informed than we've ever been. And so what
happens is is we all understand that there's a natural
evolution with your team. It's just when you have the
hopeless part, that's what you don't want to be right
right now. The Jets, for example, who are completely hopeless too.
I have an idiot of a head coach that's going
to be at one and done all the things that
they normally do. But oh my god, for once they
(53:33):
had a great tread deadline in which they can get
a base of the franchise at some point, which is
something they've been searching for forever. All of a sudden,
if you're a Jets fan, you realize that we may
have a future. And that's the evolution of being a fan.
Is okay, at least you're giving me some hope versus
now you look at let's look at Cincinnati, who just
has horrid ownership and has for so long. You didn't
(53:53):
move Trey Hendrickson. He's not coming back, and you held
out for a first round pick. Now you're gonna you know,
as far as the compensation picks, she'll get something in
the middle of the rounds, but you probably could have
got a second or a third that could have become
a second. And what you do as well is you
tell other players around the league, if you come here
and sign here, which no one will, then we'll treat
you right. They should have treated him right and traded
(54:13):
him to a contender. You know, other guys are Miami
sitting there, Jalen Wattle and Bradley Shubb and type guy like. Look,
you're in a reset mode and what you need is
more bites at the Apple and in the NFL more
than any other league. You can get guys in the
fifth round and the sixth round and the seventh round.
You just need more picks, you need more opportunities. I mean,
I was looking at Seattle's picks, and you know, you
(54:35):
can go back when they were so good and won
the Super Bowl and you look at like two, three
four drafts in a row. Their last three drafts are awesome.
And it's not just because you know, they get a
Charles Cross in the first round or Whetherspoon or something
like that. It's across the board and you just you
hit on a tory hole. You just boom boom, boom boom,
and all of a sudden you're back in it because
you have this young talent that you drafted over three
(54:57):
four drafts, and not just in the first round. You
nailed a bunch of them because you had more opportunities.
And that's the lifeblood of a team. You can go
out every year and have the most money and spend
in free agency and do all those things that just
illustrate that you failed. The draft is where it's at,
and the more picks and the more opportunities you have
to try to get those type of players on your team.
(55:18):
The better, and a team like the Jets did it today,
a team like the Dolphins, a team like the Saints.
You know, you got to do more of that because
if you don't, you're just doing a disservice. You're not
And I understand what you said, and you're right. You
don't want to ever market nobody ever anymore. Use rebuilt.
That sounds like a curseword in sports, But at some point,
I don't care how you market it. We understand that
(55:40):
you're not good and you should be moving players and
getting opportunities to get better. And these teams today who
didn't clearly Tennessee, Miami, the Bengals, they're idiots.
Speaker 2 (55:49):
Well, I think you make the you know you talk
about the draft. I think you make a real strong
argument in this division, just our division, the NFCU West, Oh.
I mean, look at what the Rams they've done, a
perfect raw, Yeah, Ramas, And listen the forty nine ers too,
they've just somehow they kind of duct tape it stuff together.
The injuries are just killing them for two years in
a row. Bad luck. I mean, having your first round
(56:10):
pick this year who you had to lean on hard
get out, you know, get knocked out for the rest
of the season. In addition to Fred Warner right, and
and you know, I you still not back all those things.
But the ramp Pots, yeah, Bosa. What the Rams are
done is remarkable. I mean, they're Their defensive draft, especially
last year was phenomenal, and they mix it in with
some some veterans. They also know I think the key
in the NFL you just mentioned all those guys like
(56:31):
Wattle and Chub in Miami know when to cut bait. No,
when know when it's time to go, Like like Schneider
took a lot of grief when they made the when
they got rid of Gino and they made a decision
to go Gino, and then a day later they flip
it for for Sam Darnell. Basically, right know, they're gonna
get Sam Donald you know, the meta Times of the World.
He'll never recover from this. The worst worst move of
the offseason. Okay, hunt, like not really like it's actually
(56:53):
turned out pretty good, you know, like it's turned out pretty.
Speaker 4 (56:56):
Good because.
Speaker 9 (56:59):
They just.
Speaker 2 (57:01):
But I mean, seriously, it's like because you know, like
Schneider knows when to cut bait. It's like, okay, Russ,
Russ is declining. We're not paying you fifty five million
a year. You're out. People lost their mind. Gino lost
their mind. Okay, look at what the rams on. Jalen Ramsey.
Time to move on. We're good. See Jalen, you know
we're good. Time to move on, you know. And that's
(57:22):
what they've done. It's it's and I think when you
look around the league, that's what you have to do.
You have to know when to cut bait and then
when to kind of and who to build around. We'll
build around Matt Stafford, right, Stafford still has something, and
we'll build around him and go with some young defensive
players and so on and so forth. And that's and
that's what in Philadelphia. Philadelphia has done an incredible job
putting the roster together.
Speaker 9 (57:43):
And he just hit the teams that did it. But
here's what they have in common. And you can do
this with baseball and basketball and football and all these
kind of things. What you're trying to do is get
your core players about the same age, which is the
prime of their career, which is really difficult to do.
But you have two young players are too young. Players
are too old, and so what you do is in
that key area from let's say age twenty five to
(58:06):
twenty nine, right or thirty or whatever in that age
age range. You want to get as many players in
that range in their prime as you possibly can. And
you have that, then you ride that. But when you
start to get out of it, like the teams, like
I said, Trey Hendrickson is not is a thirty year
old guy, He's not going to be around when when
the Bengals get good. I don't care that Burrow is
coming back next year, They're just not going to be
(58:27):
in it in Miami with Waddle and Chubb. There you got.
It's really simple math. You've got to get as many
guys in every single sport that you have, all professional
sports that are you get more in the prime than
the other team, and all of a sudden you're the
best team. So you just mentioned the Rams who have
been drafting well, and Seattle's drafted well, and the Eagles
have drafted well, and the Lions have drafted well. And
(58:47):
you get these three four drafts and they carry you
for about four or five years, and then you got
to resign them all so they get too expensive and
they start chipping away at you. It's just the process
that the way it happens, especially in the NFL, and
all of a sudden, you look at Seattle and Philly
and the Rams, and they've got those guys in their prime.
If you're not one of those teams, especially if you
don't have a quarterback, then you've got to move assets
(59:08):
because you've got to be realistic with yourself. And I
understand the fan base. Look, it's the NFL. They're still
coming out. You've got tons of money, you got all
these revenue streams. You're not gonna go broke like the
other sports. You don't have to keep your stars beyond
the expiration data. As you pointed out, You're still gonna
have revenue. You're still gonna have money. These teams make
money when if one fan doesn't walk through the gates.
(59:30):
We saw it in the pandemic. They were you know,
it wasn't the greatest, but it still was okay because
of the all the other revenue streams they have. You
can hit the reset button. Now you can't do it
again and again and again because you lose the trust
of your fan base. But you've got to know when
you're done, and you got to be honest with yourself,
and then you're trying to again get the lifeblood of
the draft back so that you can get back into
this game. And it's no surprise of you. Look at
(59:53):
this division in the NFC specifically, there's a lot of
teams with those great players, and if you're not one
of those, you got to players. It's a really simple equation.
And I don't understand teams who don't understand it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
By the way, this has been too serious of a conversation.
I do like the text you sent my professer Jets earlier.
What tell people, let's go an award it is? What
was the text tell people?
Speaker 9 (01:00:18):
The text was.
Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
Go for it?
Speaker 2 (01:00:22):
John.
Speaker 9 (01:00:23):
All right, let me see here. Let me look at
my text. Because I've been very popular of many people.
All I did was all I saw. I saw that
there was you know, of course, and I don't care.
I hate when people say it's too let we start
talking about this. It's week We just finished Week nine.
So in the NFC right now, one seed would be Philly,
two seven would be Bucks and Lions, the four or
(01:00:44):
five would be Packers and Rams, and oh look at this,
the three six seed. If the season ended today, which
it doesn't, who cares. We have to talk about things today.
The three six matchup is Seahawks forty nine ers. Of course,
Seahawks is the three forty nine ers as the six
rematch of week one would be the playoffs seating right now?
Three six? How great would that be a playoff game?
Speaker 2 (01:01:07):
Again, I'm telling you right now, we don't want that here.
Nobody wants that here. That would cause so much stress,
would be so much stress. Oh my god, can you
imagine a Seahawks, a Seahawks forty nine ers playoff game
with lund? All, lord, I welcome, come into town. Hair,
(01:01:28):
you got to come to town.
Speaker 4 (01:01:30):
Come down to have to play.
Speaker 9 (01:01:33):
I've walked there for.
Speaker 2 (01:01:33):
That cal purple sheet and do your stuff here for
Pro Football wire and be perfect. All right, Yeah, we
gotta do it. You gotta do that.
Speaker 4 (01:01:41):
It's gonna be that's gonna be a thing.
Speaker 9 (01:01:42):
And here's the thing too, they're so banked up. Like
you said, there's certain teams you just won't want to see,
Like you don't want to see inner division teams in
the playoffs, especially early. You know, you're just like after
the season Seattle is going to have right now because
they're scheduled and you know this, you've been talking about schedule.
The rest of it looks good. You know, all those
kind of things. I mean, injuries happened, so you know,
Ernest Jones, those kind of things. But man, things are
(01:02:04):
setting up really well. You would not want to see
it at forty nine ers just just because of the
history of it.
Speaker 2 (01:02:08):
Right, I'm just looking through here. The last two times
they've been in the playoffs, we get to a break
twenty twenty two, that would be the forty nine ers
twenty twenty ye. The Rams. The last two times they've
been the playoffs has been division rivals. And yes they
lost both those wildcard games. Okay, tell people.
Speaker 9 (01:02:25):
Should have run the Rams game.
Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
But anyway, all right, thanks, thanks Tip. Tell me about
Pro Football Wire. Tell them, tell me they're go.
Speaker 9 (01:02:30):

So at PFB wire And I'm just putting together my
my wrap of the of deadline day, So make sure
you're checking out at PFB wire on all social media

Speaker 6 (01:03:00):
Hey, and I heard you on the broadcast last night
cracking game, and you know, Porcelain might be the best
in the business.
Speaker 9 (01:03:07):
He is so good.
Speaker 2 (01:03:09):
But I'm gonna tell you something, my man. You were awesome.
Speaker 11 (01:03:13):
And you guys together, it's as if you've been together
for a long time.
Speaker 6 (01:03:18):
So we appreciate you. You know, your hockey man, keep.
Speaker 2 (01:03:21):
Up the good work. You're the best. I appreciate that.
Thank you. I think you mean by yeah, Johnny. Johnny's
as good as it gets. There's no doubt about that.
And I think, uh us, you guys together, I think
he's referring to Ed, Zoe and JT. And and yeah,
it was. It was a ton of fun working with
those guys. Yeah's a he's not con He's also fun.
(01:03:44):
He's a character man. Yeah, right now, it's it was fun,
really fun night. We'll get another one next doing the
next game next Tuesday as well, So excited for that. Yeah,
a lot of fun last time. Great great crew, really
good crew. And and uh, just a quick shout out
Piper Shaw. First time she's hosted a studio home. Uh, did.
She took my role last night hosting up in the
the pregame and intermissions and post game and she absolutely
(01:04:07):
crushed it. So great job by Piper Shaw with Brett
and Allison as well. I'm I'm Allison said said something
last night. I agree. Proud of our team. We have
a really really good group. Uh, interchangeable and when people
can do different roles and step in and do a
nice job, that's cool. And part of it has to
do with the fact that Crack and Hockey Network has
some incredible people behind the scenes, Ryan Shaver, Patrick Brown,
(01:04:29):
Scott Malone, Stu Vecu and and others. So a big
shout out to all the whole crew. And it was
fun night last night, different night, but fun night and
the way we go and they got to win.
Speaker 3 (01:04:37):
Your crew of Swiss Army nights.
Speaker 2 (01:04:39):
Yeah, so hopefully hopefully the winning keeps coming to because
that makes it even more fun. All Right, we got
to little factor fiction. Shall we get to it?
Speaker 3 (01:04:45):
Let's do it.
Speaker 2 (01:04:46):
Let's do it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:48):
From the R and R Foundation Specialist Broadcast Studio. Now
back to Ian Fernez powered my Seapple Closest Sports Book,
Snow Quality Casino and Hotel on Sports Radio ninety three
point three kJ R f M.
Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
All right, she's going NFL. Jessamin McIntyre, ladies and gentlemen
is going NFL.
Speaker 5 (01:05:09):
I'm big into the end and not the n c
oh because things can get unpredictable.
Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
Who you telling that to?
Speaker 3 (01:05:21):
Yeah, well, yeah, tell it to our scoreboard.
Speaker 2 (01:05:24):
That would be a good thing. By the way, as
long as you're not taking Eagles Packers, we're good. That's
the Monday night game. Just as an FYI, I looked
it up.
Speaker 3 (01:05:34):
I've been extra careful since then. I made a mistake.
Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
No, no, I'm just I'm just you know, all.
Speaker 3 (01:05:39):
Right, this one, all right?
Speaker 2 (01:05:40):
What we got? What we got?
Speaker 5 (01:05:42):
Macdeb in the middle of everything.
Speaker 3 (01:05:45):
I am going against New York once.
Speaker 5 (01:05:47):
Again, okay, And it's okay because I am very confident
in this pick. I'm taking Chicago minus three and a
half as they face the Giants. They host the Giants too,
so this is in Chicago, okay, and Chicago minus three
and a half. I don't think that the Giants are
going to come close to covering in this one. And
(01:06:09):
it's not like I'm some huge Chicago pan either. I
just think that the Giants are bad they've pulled off
some feats before. But I did pick the Niners last
week against the Giants. Niners were I think only a two.
Speaker 3 (01:06:23):
And a half point favorite last week with my pick
hold on.
Speaker 2 (01:06:27):
Oh yep, so give me the pickroll book again.
Speaker 5 (01:06:30):
Sorry, yes, I am correct. That was my pick. So
my pick is the Bears Bears minus three.
Speaker 2 (01:06:36):
And a half minus three and a half Bears at
home against Giants Fact four nine four to five one.
If you agree, if you disagree, Fiction four nine four
to five one, try to win one thousand dollars weekly prize,
ten thousand dollars grand prize, the ten thousand dollars grand prize.
If you're in it, you know you're in it. If
you're just joining us for the first time, then you're
not in it.
Speaker 4 (01:06:56):
Right for the.
Speaker 3 (01:06:57):
Grand prize, we could still win a thousand.
Speaker 2 (01:07:00):
Everyone is in it for every week someone wins a
thousand dollars, and all you need is one count them
one correct pick of factor fiction. So the Bears minus
three and a half at home the five and three
Bears against the two and seven Giants at Soldier Field.
That is a ten am game in the Pacific time
zone on Sunday, Morning Bears minus five and a half
(01:07:22):
or three and a half sorright Bears minus three and
a half over the Giant. I like to pick. I
think that's a very safe pick, to be honest with,
scatterbo out for the year.
Speaker 5 (01:07:29):
I'm a little scared these days, so's I go with this.
Speaker 2 (01:07:32):
I say that's a safe pick. There's no such thing
as a damn safe pick there. I don't think there
is a year.
Speaker 5 (01:07:38):
I picked the Jets a couple of weeks ago, okay,
and that was a safe pick, and then they came
roaring back, roaring back a ridiculous fashion.
Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
I go with you on that one, considering I lost,
you know, my little Survivor league too, so not fun.
Speaker 3 (01:07:53):
I oh yeah, because you at the Bengals.
Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
Yeah, well that was a that was on me. I
should never have trusted the Bengals. That was just stupid
on my part.
Speaker 5 (01:08:00):
So I think trusting the Jets and the Bengals might
be on the same level.
Speaker 2 (01:08:04):
Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 5 (01:08:05):
Yeah, but I'm pretty confident in this one again. Chicago
minus three and a half against the Giants, and someone
just texted in OMG the Bears.
Speaker 3 (01:08:13):
I'm like, OMG, the Giants.
Speaker 2 (01:08:14):
Well, the Beres are five and three, sound like they're yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:08:16):
And there's Scataboolus Giants.
Speaker 2 (01:08:19):
The Bears are a half game or a tiebreaker out
of a playoff spot right now, like you've got the
mine at five and three. They're eighth in the NFC
and they're only eighth because of the tiebreaker. Again, thousand dollars,
we probably ten thousand. Our grand prize four nine four
to five to one factor of fiction. It's all brought
to you by the Lucky Eagle Casino and hotel where
every day feels lucky. We're going twenty four every Friday
(01:08:40):
and Saturday twenty four. Our gaming starts November seventh at
Lucky Eagle dot com. So get those texts in and
your chance to win one thousand dollars weekly prize four
nine four to five to one fact four nine four
to five one fiction again to pick Justin is taking
the Bears minus three and a half at home against
the Giants. Send your text right now. If you don't text,
you can't win without star weaker prize, very simple, very easy,
(01:09:02):
fire away. Let's get that in right now.
Speaker 3 (01:09:06):
Be good, bounce back it's working.
Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
Oh, that's always a good thing too.
Speaker 3 (01:09:10):
Just letting people know.
Speaker 2 (01:09:11):
That's always a good thing as well. All right, we'll
take a break, come back, Dave, Softy Mauler will join us,
coming up next. Already you're back here we are. Man
(01:09:47):
just slammed a cup of chowder.
Speaker 4 (01:09:48):
And I'm from where ian wha, Dave, I'm glad.
Speaker 2 (01:09:53):
You asked me that I would be from Dukes, my friend,
Oh my god.
Speaker 10 (01:09:58):
You know it's like your stuff. You're and you go
out and like, you know, walk the dog and you're
moving like, you know, a mile an hour.
Speaker 4 (01:10:05):
I don't know.
Speaker 10 (01:10:05):
Man doing a radio show after filling up with showder
and salmon and sour dough bread from Dukes, and I
just feel like anybody who brings us food to the studio, Man, really,
what's let's face it, that's what we all want, yes, right,
And that's why we got to this business in the
first place.
Speaker 6 (01:10:21):
His food.
Speaker 10 (01:10:21):
Do you think Roz gave a damn about anything happening
on the air. He just wanted his lunch run taken
care of by somebody so perfect. That's really why we
invited John Mosscript from Dukes to come down here. Who
is the second most famous Bellevue High School alum by
the way behind me.
Speaker 4 (01:10:37):
Yeah, boot, I don't know who you're talking about. You're
talking about Miles Jack, Buddha, Baker, whatever.
Speaker 10 (01:10:45):
Look at this guy, John Moscript who I've known this
guy since he was probably twelve years old, and now
he's the most famous guy in the right there.
Speaker 2 (01:10:54):
So what was twelve year old Softy like? What was
twelve year old Softy like?
Speaker 11 (01:11:00):
You can lie pretty much the same nobody uh so young, loud, energetic,
the same, the same guy probably just probably going to
seven eleven, you know, getting a slurpy.
Speaker 2 (01:11:11):
Oh yeah, somebody wants to beat him up, probably every day.
Speaker 11 (01:11:13):
Big gold, slurpyados, the whole bit. Yeah, that's out of there, probably.
Speaker 2 (01:11:18):
Dude.
Speaker 4 (01:11:18):
Remember the Super West down there?
Speaker 2 (01:11:20):
Oh yeah, remember that Super twenty four?
Speaker 4 (01:11:23):
Right, I still come.
Speaker 2 (01:11:25):
I'm going back old school. I'm calling it hot tubby.
There you go.
Speaker 11 (01:11:28):
Yeah, I was knowing for back today, probably when Softie
was going there.
Speaker 4 (01:11:30):
Yeah, what was it called hot tubbie because everyone's loaded?
Speaker 12 (01:11:34):
Man rich Well, I lived on the other side or
no Newport, No, I lived on there were no Newport.
Bellevy was kind of I lived on the ghetto side
of the Drestle. I was a factorial guy. Okay, I
didn't get to have it.
Speaker 10 (01:11:46):
I wasn't driving like an M three when I was
sixteen years old the way these guys were.
Speaker 2 (01:11:49):
Yeah, being from the mean streets of Bellevue's gotta.
Speaker 10 (01:11:51):
Be hard, dude, gotta be hard, man. I'll tell you what, brother,
I mean. Just this guy and what he's done at
Duke's and his dad. It's just a north As staple,
you know. I mean, honestly, you're uh, you know, maybe
I should turn my phone out. Wow, you know what
Kyle Inger from San Juan Seltzer.
Speaker 12 (01:12:06):
That's him, by the way, Yeah, Seltzer's restocked refrigerator.
Speaker 4 (01:12:11):
We're just like sponsored day here. I'm kJ or what
the hell is he bringing?
Speaker 11 (01:12:15):
Is he bringing Seltzer for?
Speaker 9 (01:12:16):
He will?
Speaker 12 (01:12:16):
He's got refrigerator with his name on it. But the
problem is all these drunk cubes take everything.
Speaker 9 (01:12:20):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:12:21):
First of all, that's not true. I'm sober right now.
We're sweater on him.
Speaker 4 (01:12:28):
That's his son, that's his kid.
Speaker 10 (01:12:29):
Yeah, but you guys have done in this town. Dude,
how many years now for Duke's restaurants?
Speaker 11 (01:12:34):
Gosh, we're coming up on fifty uh session nineteen seventy
seven so.
Speaker 4 (01:12:37):
Wow, Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:12:38):
Where was the original one at Lower Queen just so
Buccleys is now? Yeah, yep, yeah, I used to when
I worked at Como TV with Bruce King back in
the day, and that was our spot because you have
the best late night half the hours of the city.
We would roll into there and I lived like three
blocks from there, so it was like parked the car
walk down.
Speaker 10 (01:12:56):
You know how many Sonic games he celebrated over there
with that little attic up there whatever, that's Sonic Games.
Speaker 2 (01:13:01):
Yeah, that restaurant gets so busy. Can we get a
Queen Anne location? Back?
Speaker 4 (01:13:04):
I was gonna say, why did you get rid of
that place?
Speaker 7 (01:13:06):
Like?
Speaker 4 (01:13:06):
Where were you thinking? After talking the old man about that?
Can you answer this one, the hard hitting question.
Speaker 2 (01:13:13):
John's out here for the heart nitting questions bringing us
salmon and chowder.
Speaker 4 (01:13:17):
We need a Queen Anne location, dude.
Speaker 11 (01:13:19):
I agree, especially with you know, cracking playing well and
all the activities there and.
Speaker 2 (01:13:23):
Well Queen An's starting to come a live again, which
is nice. Yeah, like that, I mean, in all seriousness,
like seeing Queen Ane come alive again on I mean
they have I think it's two hundred plus dates there
at that building now a year, right, you know the
forty one cracking games and someday we'll have forty one
of the NBA games coming back and everything in the concerts,
I mean, Eric Church is coming. I mean, yeah, there's
a concert you went to, didn't you go Sandler? I
went to Adam Sandler, laugh my balls off the entire time.
(01:13:45):
It was awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:13:46):
Great.
Speaker 4 (01:13:46):
But what's happening at dukes Man? You guys got some
cool stuff going on?
Speaker 11 (01:13:49):
Uh yeah, we're always always working on something, just trying
to stay fresh and relevant. And uh we got some
uh rib feature we do once a year for about
two months, and that's coming up here next.
Speaker 4 (01:13:58):
Can you bring some of those in for sure? The
next the next visit?
Speaker 11 (01:14:02):
For sure?
Speaker 2 (01:14:03):
That was I mean that's my follow up question. Again.
Speaker 10 (01:14:06):
That's really the only reason why we have you here
is just to just to make you commit on live
radio to bringing us more f I do good with it.
Speaker 2 (01:14:13):
I do want to pump this up. So I think
it's cool. I mean it just it's it hits near
and dear to my heart. We've talked about this before.
The clam chowder is gluten free like and it's gluten
free safe gluten free correct or and for my daughter
and others who have CELIAX, which is a real thing.
You know, two kracking players have it. Wow, Rykers and
Coppo Cockle sauces are gluten free too. Yeah, I mean
that's a that's a big that's a really big thing.
(01:14:33):
And define a restaurant that is dedicated for that type
of stuff. It's hard to find. So just kudos, do
you get I think you have a family member, right, sisters.
Speaker 11 (01:14:41):
Gluten intolerance not not quite the the seal that crop,
but we we get compliments on on the offerings for that.
It's it's big. About seventy percent of our menu is
actually gluten free.
Speaker 4 (01:14:52):
Wow, and that's a huge.
Speaker 11 (01:14:53):
Sorry about the chowder is we started researching, okay, what
how do we get ways to get further down the
to make it gluten free. Well, we finally perfected the recipe.
It took us a couple of years and we actually
introduced it into the restaurants for almost a year before
telling anybody really it was glute free, because back then
you say glute free and everybody is like I don yeah,
it tastes even for a signature them like that.
Speaker 10 (01:15:15):
We had to make sure that it writes it's the
best chowder I've ever had, And they're not just paying
me to say that. By the way, I really actually
believe that that it is the best chowder I've ever had.
But I got the best chowder on the planet. Well,
the Seattle Chowder Cookoff Champion, which you've heard me do
those commercial spots. They were told to get the hell
out because nobody could win, so they had to quit.
Speaker 2 (01:15:34):
That is, I don't listen to him much when he
talks about Dukes.
Speaker 4 (01:15:38):
I'll listen to that.
Speaker 2 (01:15:39):
Usually when he speaks, I usually turn the radio off
or wait till.
Speaker 4 (01:15:42):
The favorite thing on the menu.
Speaker 10 (01:15:44):
Because you you grew up with this, right Like, I mean,
I could see a guy like you who was a
little kid running around a kitchen somewhere with dad. How
you know, maybe at some point in time you want
to kind of have a little variety, Dad, take me
to Jack in the box whatever. I'm tired of having
all this great chowder. But what's your what's your favorite
thing on the Duke's menu right now?
Speaker 11 (01:16:02):
I mean, I'm a big fan of our salmon. It's
it's not easy to do the sourcing and just the
way that we handle it all the.
Speaker 2 (01:16:10):
Way through the process. But I probably go to as
Our a grassped cheeseburger and I wow.
Speaker 11 (01:16:16):
Friends, wow, swear, they say, listen, I know you're a
seafood restaurant. Every time I go there, I just cannot
order anything else other than the burger.
Speaker 12 (01:16:23):
Okay, so next time he comes in ribs and grass
fed cheeseburger, salmon. Yeah, that's fine, all of that. I think,
just once a week. Once a week.
Speaker 4 (01:16:31):
How many menu items do you have, honestly, like ballpark?
Speaker 10 (01:16:34):
Maybe one hundred on the s Okay, So for the
next seventy weeks, just pop on by on a Tuesday
or a Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (01:16:42):
We'll try something new every week.
Speaker 2 (01:16:44):
I like that.
Speaker 4 (01:16:44):
I mean, I'm not gonna whine about it.
Speaker 6 (01:16:46):
What the heck?
Speaker 2 (01:16:47):
No, No, we're all right. Well, I guess we got
to tease the show.
Speaker 4 (01:16:50):
Big Dons fan here by the way too.
Speaker 7 (01:16:51):
You know.
Speaker 4 (01:16:52):
Well, I got a boy.
Speaker 9 (01:16:54):
By the way.
Speaker 11 (01:16:55):
By the way, I have one thing. I went to
Pullman a week and a half ago for aaron sweekend.
My son is interested. It's one of the spots.
Speaker 4 (01:17:02):
Yeah, and then he realized he wasn't interested.
Speaker 11 (01:17:04):
It's my very first visit once the University of Washington
grew up in there. Very first time to Pullman. Yeah,
I had a very pleasant, really pretty good time there
you go.
Speaker 2 (01:17:13):
What was the best part besides believing half my friends
are listen, I would tell your like, you'd have a
hard time. He's the only guy that can go there
and not have a good time. Is not true. The
only guy that goes I had a great time.
Speaker 10 (01:17:24):
Starting in the late nineties, when I drove a bike
to Pullman, they threw ding dongs and watermelons and grapefruits
at me, and I bought him beer and they loved
me ever since.
Speaker 2 (01:17:31):
By beer, they started liking you. Huh.
Speaker 4 (01:17:33):
Well, plus, we don't even we're not even rivals anymore.
I mean they're like a high school team.
Speaker 2 (01:17:37):
Now, okay, you're are you talking about the college football
playoff today? They're a big shots.
Speaker 4 (01:17:41):
Yeah, the rankings come out today.
Speaker 2 (01:17:44):
We'll see my friends, the athletics, Stuart Mandel and those guys.
Have you guys at twenty two good should be hired
in that we're good. We're a good team. Yeah, and
get some national attention. The ESPN boys. Don't worry about them,
they don't matter.
Speaker 4 (01:17:57):
Hey, thanks for coming down here.
Speaker 2 (01:17:59):
John, appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (01:18:00):
Atcheafood dot com.
Speaker 10 (01:18:01):
By the way, if you want to book a table
for tonight, so try that grass fed cheeseburger that moscript
likes so much.
Speaker 4 (01:18:08):
What's today is Today Tuesday? A little fun with audio.
Greg Lewis is going to be here on the phone.
Speaker 10 (01:18:13):
Hugh Millon is going to jump on talk about the
newest member of the Seahawk whad Receiving Corps, Brian Schmitzer.
Speaker 4 (01:18:19):
Thank god they won last night.
Speaker 10 (01:18:21):
He'll join us as well, and then Jim Bowden, former
GM is gonna hop on at six and talk some baseball.
So and we're gonna stuff re bellies with chowder and
salmon all day long.
Speaker 2 (01:18:29):
Sounds like this guy. Thanks for the mild mannered and
marginally objectionable Inverness.
Speaker 4 (01:18:35):
This is paddle day saying so long everyone,
