Speaker 1 (00:00):
In a few minutes here and get your both of
your thoughts on this and four nine four to five
to one on the text line as well or talk backs.
We're already in that phase here. We are twenty four
plus four, twenty eight hours into the legal tampering period.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
Legal tampering is the funniest paroxymoron.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
That is legal tampering. We're in that period now where
fan base is across the National Football League are reacting
in basically one of two ways, elation or panic. There's
nothing in between, zero between the NFL fan base is.
(00:44):
It's very easy to read. It's either we love what
our GM and our team has done, or we just
flat out hate it and they haven't done enough, and
you know, and on and on and on. The Seahawks,
I think there is some panic in the streets. Oh yeah,
because they haven't added to the offensive line. Yes, and
they only have one proven wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Oh yeah, How good can Sam Darnold be? Depending on
who he's the rand.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
The only thing I would caution is this, and let's
there's still some guys out there. I'm gonna go through
with Palozola, like what makes sense with Seattle offensive lineman.
I've said this a million times, like we've got a
lot of people out there that have just turned into
offensive line experts. Yeah right, and couldn't tell you one
(01:30):
thing about the offensive line outside of the fact they
heard a name that sounds like he would be a
fit in Seattle.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
His last names Fries. He must be big, therefore good
offensive lineman.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Yeah, well, fry Will Fries. In four years has started
thirty one games. He was a seventh round draft pick
as a tackle, played right guard the last couple three years,
started all seventeen games and twenty twenty three. Banged up
last year, played only five games, started nine games in
the second year in twenty twenty two. Maybe is going
(01:58):
to be really really good good someday, Like maybe he
is really good right now. I don't know. I would
challenge anybody out there that's tell me what the tape says.
That's what Hugh says. I mean, when I ask you
Millan about somebody, I know he's gonna give me a
good answer because you know what he's done. He's watched
the coaches tape.
Speaker 5 (02:13):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
He can tell you if Jackson Smith and Jigba is
better in the slot or playing it X or what
he does without dk me. He can tell me those things.
I will be the first to tell you. This is
this is a this is a first in sports radio.
Speaker 6 (02:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
I have not watched the coaches tape on Will Fries,
and even if I did, I wouldn't know what the
hell I'm watching, all right, So I'm just gonna tell
you that right now.
Speaker 7 (02:47):
Panics.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
My god, they didn't get Will Fries. Okay, so they
didn't pay.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Eighty five years eight million.
Speaker 1 (02:57):
They pay pay eighty eight million dollars for a guy
to started thirty one games in four years. Okay, again,
maybe this will be the first year he makes a
Pro Bowl. Maybe this will be the first year he's
All Pro. And maybe he'll look like the second coming
of Steve Hutchinson.
Speaker 7 (03:13):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Maybe he does. And I joke with that, I, like
you anybody else, wants them to get some experience on
the offensive line before the start of the twenty twenty
five season. We all believe that that is necessary going
In fact, I remember asking this to Corbin a few
(03:36):
weeks ago. I said, man like, and this was before
they accumulated draft picks that they have and everything else.
But I said, can you actually imagine them going into
the season starting like two rookies and a second year guy?
However that would work out, is it? Or even a
third year guy like a third year center in Oulu
who people think is eh, and maybe Christian Haynes a
(03:59):
second year and then a starting rookie left guard. Could
you see them doing that and going that inexperience or
where they go get somebody else along the way, what
have you. And he's like, no, there's got to find
some experience.
Speaker 5 (04:08):
I agree.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
I think we all agree upon that. But getting experience
and getting quality are two very different things. This is
the stupid season people. People were just throwing money all
over the place. Laken Tomlinson just got paid today a
little bit, not a lot, but he did. He couldn't
play for Seattle last year. You know, I I think
(04:30):
DJ reached a really good player. He got paid a
ton of money. Why because Detroy was desperate for a
number one corner after the other guy left. You start
overpaying for players. This is the hard thing with free agency,
you know is And again I'm just bringing up Fries.
There's other guys out there, but let me just use
him for example. I look at his resume, and you
(04:51):
know what I see. I see twelve hundred foot. I
see a twelve hundred foot square foot rambler located somewhere
and Ballard, maybe Crown Hill, and very desirable for people
want to live in the city these days, like kind
of cool area. But it needs a new roof, needs
new plumbing. A lot of questions about it. But we're
(05:15):
going to charge one point five million dollars in real estate. Guru,
let's go. But that's what it is so accurate that
to me, Will Fries is the twelve. It could be Greenwood,
it could be West Seattle or West Seattle. It's probably
two million. Yeah, Like is it really worth it? Well, yeah,
because i'mone will pay it exactly. But are you getting
(05:35):
your money's worth or not? The worst contracts in the
NFL are the bad ones that cost too much money
in a salary cap league. And I'm not trying to
be Joe Company guy. I have no no ties. I
don't cover them after games anymore. I don't have to
be you know, I can say what I want. I'm
just telling you I'm going to kind of take a
little step back here and not freak out and stress
(05:57):
out and lose my mind because they haven't signed the
will Fryes of the world at eighty eight million dollars. Again,
he could be really good. I would challenge people, much
like when we talk with Hugh do you really know
football to the point where you're now? Now Palazolo does,
We'll ask him. He studies it. That's to be us
for a living. But like like I hear fans and
(06:19):
media media who I know don't know jack about playing
offensive line. Oh, I can't believe this. Come on, man,
like you over paying for a guy that's going to
turn into Luke Jokol or Lake and Tomlinson or Connor
Williams or whatever it would be is the biggest mistake
you can make. You're better off going young and taking
(06:42):
a shot. Now, listen their track record drafting offensive lineman
is awful. Like, make no bones about that.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
I don't want that.
Speaker 1 (06:50):
It's not good. Christian haynes Is a third round pick
should be a starter. Anthony Bradford a fourth round pick
should have been a starter. You can look at old
and say Day three guy, I'm okay with him not
being starting out right right, But the other like Christian Haynes,
so far as a missed doesn't mean it's gonna be missed.
Look at Will Fries barely made a roster his first
(07:14):
year as a sent round pick. We'll talk to Paolo
Hole about this, because they talked about on their podcast
that was really fascinating. Offensive linemen kind of feel like goaltenders,
goalies and hockey. It takes a little longer sometimes. Now
there's dudes that will come in and play right away
and just step in and like whoa Like that bro
from Alabama playing left tackle just came in and was
(07:34):
dominant from day one. Yeah, you get that center came
in and was a dude right away. You got you
got a right guard that played at Georgia is gonna
come in. He's gonna maul people right away. Other times,
maybe you gotta switch positions a couple of times. James Carpenter,
drafted as a tackle, played pretty quality snaps for Seattle
as a guard.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
I always think about Justin britt Justin britt played three.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Justin brit played three from positions, and you know the
funny thing with brittainy the end, he's like a lot
of offensive linemen. The biggest issue he had was keeping
weight on that's a damn marathon runner.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Now can I have that problem?
Speaker 1 (08:12):
Nobody can. It's not fair. Life's not fair, jesss.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
Do you think, though, that offensive line is the hardest
position to evaluate because I cannot figure it out.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
I think it is, And I'll go back to what
John Schneider said. There's no tree interview in the other room,
the old studio, so it would have been eight nine
years ago. We're having John Snider on and we're sitting there.
I asked him about offensive lineman coming out of college,
and he said, it's the hardest position to evaluate because
so many offenses now in college are not at all
comparable to what a pro style offense is. Most of
(08:46):
these offensive linemen never have their hand on the ground
in college, so much spread air, raid, whatever you want
to do.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
Do you think that's changing a little bit back because
just outsiders nomous perspective, it seems like it is a
little bit on the team look like the Michigan's of
the world. Sure, the Georgia's of the world.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Some yeah, some, yeah, yeah, some, but you know, and
maybe it is a little bit. But there's only ten
guys on those two teams you just talked about.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
Exactly right.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
And how many those guys are draft eligible every year?
How many of them are actually NFL players are just
big guys, right, they come all so I would just
I'm gonna temper my stress level. It's it's not a
nine or a ten like I know for many it is.
It's not a failure and free agency because they've got
only got Sam darl and they lost Gino and.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
DK failure, failure, failure.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Yeah, I know what he said.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
I mean, there's a drop from him saying that about
Jerry to Poto.
Speaker 1 (09:43):
But yeah, I just if it's not if it wasn't
a salary cap league, I like, whatever, man, go spend
money on guys. There's a story circulat that Freeze Fries
could have been there, as if they would have matched
the offer from the Vikings And maybe this, just like.
Speaker 4 (09:56):
The AAV wasn't there. Apparently it was the years that
they didn't want off.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Yeah, well there's probably a reason for that, and I'm
going to trust with the guys they now have coaching
the offense that have been in the National Football League
for an extended period of time, maybe they understand better
than the rest of us what is an offensive lignment's
worth maybe maybe, maybe not. I don't know. There's other
(10:21):
guys out there. I'd like to see him chase down.
I'd love him to get Leonard Floyd feels like he
all he does is get Saxon loominfield, doesn't matter what
team he plays for. Kyle Yustchek seems to be maybe
a fit here if they want to have a fullback
and since they've only got one and a half competent
tight ends maybe in terms of blocking. So yeah, there's
there's some guys out there. We'll find out what Steve
Paalozola thinks. Thirty thirteen. He joins us.
Speaker 8 (10:42):

Speaker 4 (11:09):
What is that NFL prime time?
Speaker 1 (11:11):
How it is? Okay? Well, the NFL is primetime because
it's taking center stage any off season unbelievable year.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
Well, because it's the National Football League and there is
an appetite for all things NFL to the point where
instead of just having free agency starts you've got to
have two days of tampering, legal tampering an oxymoron, if
you will. And here we are Steve pelos Aldo thirty
third Team. We're gonna start Steve on a weekly basis
here in about a week or so talking all things draft.
(11:43):
But before we get to the draft, we gotta talk
free agency. And I know Andrews was listening to it.
I listened to your draft recap winners and losers on
the thirty third Team. Check the mic podcast with you
and Sam Monson. How are you, sir?
Speaker 5 (11:57):
Doing great?
Speaker 9 (11:57):
Can I Can I get it into my rider that
I come into NFL prime time music every week?
Speaker 5 (12:01):
How do I? How do I pull that?
Speaker 1 (12:03):
It's a done deal. I just got Yeah, we're gonna
make a We're gonna make a new uh a new
open anyway, So yeah, let's do it.
Speaker 5 (12:08):
Love it.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
Yeah, let's do it. Let's do it. How are you
my friend? Getting me sleep the last couple of days.
Speaker 5 (12:13):
I'm great.
Speaker 9 (12:14):
It took a nap because things died down a little
bit last night. But yeah, it's exciting. You forget how
fast everything goes right, Like you gotta be ready for this.
But it's been a it's been a fun week so far.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
The every year there's surprises, but there's also things you
can almost predict. One of those things is some guys
will get overpaid along the way. Others will sit there
and wave in the win and not get assigned right away,
and you kind of wait and see. I'll let you
tell the joke because as I laughed my ass off
when I saw this on Twitter, what's the story with
Aaron Rodgers?
Speaker 5 (12:44):
I said, Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 9 (12:46):
Is very close to a decision, which is expected to
come in the next four to five months. Good people
have been trying to drop hints that he's close for
three days now.
Speaker 5 (12:59):
We know, yes, we know that's not true.
Speaker 9 (13:02):
You know it's not happening because Steelers and Giants are
just trying to get on with their offseason and he's
just we're gonna be here in training camp waiting to
hear from Rogers.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Oh my gosh. Yeah, We'll get to the Steelers a second,
because I mean there's some consternation here in Seattle, as
you might imagine, with things going on here. I did
my buddy Tim Benz's show yesterday in Pittsburgh, and like,
I don't know who the quarterback is nobody seems to
know the quarterback is. We'll get to those guys in
a second, but let's start here. We won't bear the
lead Seattle Wild week. In the last six days, we
(13:33):
saw dk Metcalf request a trade and have that trade
request followed through on and then we also saw Geno
Smith get traded late hours on Friday afternoon, and then
Sam Darnold signed yesterday. Let's start first with dk just
in terms of the chronological order, DK Metcalf gets traded Seattle.
(13:53):
I return to get to the second. What'd you think
of the dk Metcalf move by Seattle.
Speaker 9 (13:59):
I mean, they got a pretty good return for him.
I know they you know, reportedly wanted a one and
a three. I thought I thought they could get a
first rounder for him. Obviously they didn't, but I thought
it may have been in play just because there's not
many dk metcalps available, and look, it was just it
was interesting to me because when you're Seattle and you're
that close to winning the division last year, and you know,
it looks like you're really close to competing. If you
(14:23):
can just shore up the offensive line, it's odd to
you know, maybe start a rebuild or you know, half
rebuild or whatever it's been. But if it's DK forcing
their hand and really forcing their hand, that's a challenge, right,
So fascinated by the decision. And now that's yeah, with
the with the two trades now having what five picks
in the top eighty eighty five, whatever the whatever that is,
(14:43):
it's five premium picks really in the first three rounds.
Interested to see what they do with that and how
this rebuild goes. But it doesn't feel comfortable as a fan,
I don't think. But this happens in the NFL all
the time, where big name players go and you start
a youth movement and you can get back on track.
Speaker 5 (15:00):
Pretty quickly in the NFL as long as you hit
on those draft picks.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
Now, Steve, we don't call it a rebuild in Seattle,
at least not on this show.
Speaker 7 (15:05):
We don't.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Not with all the guys. They're not tearing it down
to the studs, but they not yet.
Speaker 5 (15:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
No, the DK thing is weird because you know, like
what happened is a question, right, Like what happened? And
I think it might be as simple as they didn't
want to pay him what maybe somebody else wanted to
pay him right, that that might have been what it
came down to, just strictly finances and money. Maybe there
was more to it. It felt like he would have
been a nice fit with the Kubiak offense. Uh and
(15:33):
maybe even with Sam Darnol would have been a nice fit.
So that that that's the only that's the part for
me that's kind of strange. It's like, what what the
hell happened? Because I'll be honest with you, and you know,
there had been discussions all the Seahawks might be open
to trading DK Metcalf. That was coming out of the combine.
We all heard that, and the Seahawks said, no, no, that's
the kind of quietly no, that's not But somewhere along
the way, DK had a meeting and they decided they
(15:55):
they had to part ways. That that part, to me, Steve,
is the weird strange part about the whole move.
Speaker 9 (16:01):
Yeah, that's tough. I mean, that's why I don't want
to be an NFL GM. That's why I turned down
all those GM off there. Yes, right, you're sitting there
staring at your depth chart, like, oh, receivers send. I
had to move on from Tyler Lockett, but I still
have DK, JSN, Jake Bobo, We're all right, and then
DK walks in and he's like, I need a trade,
and it just throws, you know, throws off all your plans.
Speaker 5 (16:21):
I assumed there was some level of that.
Speaker 9 (16:23):
I don't know if it was a complete surprise or
if they had a feel for it, but I think
when you're coming into the off season thinking, all right,
the receiver box is ticked, and you know, we got
good running backs and we've got to do what we
do at the quarterback position, but we got to figure
out the offensive line, and then all of a sudden,
now it's like playing whack a mole and.
Speaker 5 (16:39):
It's like, okay, now I need a receiver.
Speaker 9 (16:40):
Now I have to And there's not a lot of
those DK skill sets around, and that's why it's tough
when he walks out the door. There's not a lot
of those, Hey, we're gonna average fifteen yards per reception,
We're going to stretch the field, be a really nice
vertical threat to JSN, who works the underneath and the intermediate.
Speaker 5 (16:56):
Stuff really well.
Speaker 9 (16:57):
So that's I think the challenge is when that skill
set that walks out the door is replacing it, even
though you have all this money freed up to you know,
do other things and maybe fill two positions instead of one.
It's still a challenge to get that type of field
stretching ability that the that the Seahawks have happened.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Yeah, there's no doubt about that, all right. So they
effectively trade, not trade, but they trade in Geno Smith
for a third round draft pick and they get Sam
Donald in free agency for less money and he's seven
years younger, and maybe it's a push maybe not who knows,
but min WNU factor and everything else. Maybe Seattle came
(17:34):
out on the better end. Maybe not, who knows, well,
No tel sometime when we're talking with you, Steve in
probably October November next year, But what was your read
on Geno getting traded first? And then what Seattle picked
up in the on the on the backside.
Speaker 9 (17:46):
There, I mean, I was fascinated by the move because
I wanted to know what the second like, what was
the next thing?
Speaker 5 (17:52):
What was the plan for Seattle?
Speaker 9 (17:54):
And there's risk in there because you could say, oh,
we'll just we'll just sign Sam Donald, but you know
other teams wanted to do that as well, so that's
never a guarantee. I think they just said, look, we've
said this so many times on the show, like Gino
Smith is good, but if the goals winning championships, he
probably leaves you wanting just a little bit more. Did
you really do you always feel like you can go
(18:14):
compete with the best teams.
Speaker 5 (18:15):
In the NFC on a playoff run with Gino Smith?
Maybe not. Now you're gonna feel the same with the
same way with Sam Donald.
Speaker 9 (18:20):
I don't know, but that's the challenge, right, There's really
only five or six guys like that in the NFL
to go around, So I think overall it was somewhat
lateral move, but younger, and that comes with the caveat
that we have one good year of Sam Donald, right,
one good year a two game disastrous finish.
Speaker 5 (18:39):
To me, it was disastrous. I know people fight against
that a.
Speaker 9 (18:41):
Little bit, but you know, Gino had a nice little
run here, and you came into twenty twenty two with
the same level of.
Speaker 5 (18:49):
You know, uncertainty. Right, what is Gino Smith?
Speaker 9 (18:51):
He'd had a couple of good games and was never
a full time starter, and you've got good play out
of him, and you had a playoff caliber team for
a few years, right, a free playoff type of team.
Sometimes you're in, sometimes you're out, but you're at least
on the cusp right there. And I think the team
overall could be similar with Donald and you just kind
of hope that he's you know, capable of going on
a run and giving you just a little bit more
(19:13):
for a bit cheaper price.
Speaker 5 (19:14):
I think, you know, for cheaper going forward.
Speaker 9 (19:16):
And I think that's another, you know, key part of
the entire you know transactions.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Yeah, Steve Pell's will joining us thirty third team. Check
the mic podcast and if you haven't checked it out
the pun go ahead and do that. It's absolutely fantastic,
great recaps of all things NFL, including free agency Day one.
So I want to get back to Seattle in a second.
But just because it's Pete coaching and all that, I
I don't get the geno thing for the Raiders, to
(19:40):
be honest with you, that that's the part I don't
get is like Gino is a bridge quarterback. You would
think for them he's thirty five, he's gonna be thirty
five years old. Yet they didn't pay a guy as
a bridge quarterback to go to play for Pete Carroll
And maybe that's just desperation on Pete's part to want
to win right away.
Speaker 5 (19:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (19:56):
The thing, the thing I'm learning is it's it's easy
to sit my seat, your seat, maybe insist, you know,
tear it down to the studs, do the full rebuild,
and it's very tough. Not many teams want to do that.
They really do not want to do that. They they
want to compete. And the Raiders were in the same
exact situation in twenty twenty two, where I think if
(20:18):
you looked around the decision around that division, you would say, well,
the Chiefs are way better than us, The Chargers are
better than us, and they have their quarterback right now.
Speaker 5 (20:25):
You would say the Broncos are better than us. They're
all three playoff teams.
Speaker 9 (20:28):
But even in twenty two, the Raiders had a new regime,
they had Derek Carr, and instead of rebuilding in twenty
two and saying we're far away, like let's compete in
two years, they said, oh no, let's go trade for
Devonte Adams and they tried to compete. And here they
are three years later in what should be a rebuilt situation,
and they're to me, they're making a similar decision, which
(20:50):
is you know, let's just compete right now, Let's just
do it, and maybe you could do that right you know,
John Spytech is coming in from a place where they've
sent they essentially were able to do both in Tampa Bay,
where Baker Mayfield was a bridge quarterback much like a
Gino had a couple of good years.
Speaker 5 (21:04):
They were pretty competitive.
Speaker 9 (21:06):
But that's a different division than in the AFC West,
where you have to go try to knock off the Chiefs,
the Chargers, and the Broncos.
Speaker 5 (21:12):
You're the fourth best team in that division.
Speaker 9 (21:13):
So yes, long story short, Yeah, it's a curious decision
for me because, yeah, they'll be way more competitive I
think with Gino Smith. But I would rather think long,
long term and say, hey, in twenty twenty six and
twenty seven, how can we get to the level of
the Chiefs, Chargers and Broncos and really compete for the
division at that point?
Speaker 1 (21:30):
Yeah, because if you're really going to tear it down
to the studs in Oakland or Vegas, rather you don't
resign Max Crosby the richest contract, non quarterback contract ever. Right,
That's like, that's that's not a team tearing it down.
Speaker 9 (21:41):
It's not but I mean even that, like I'm fine
with that as like, let's keep this guy's part of
the nucleus, right, right, He'll be good in three years, right,
that's fine. Yeah, but they have their entire defense needs
to be reworks, you know. They they're their receiving corps.
Their offensive line is pretty good, but they need some help.
They need a running back. This needs up and down
this roster. Now, price for a starting quarterback a third rounder,
(22:02):
that's good, that's a good price, right, Like you could
justify that, but again, it's going to probably keep you
in this, you know, seven to nine win level of
mediocrity at best, when the goal should be I think
at some point, how do we knock off the Chiefs
and compete With Patrick.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
Mahomes cepelos Olla joining US thirty third team Check the
Mike podcast. The consternation here in Seattle is as follows. Yeah,
they got Sam Darnold lost in the shuffle. Is a
fact they re signed Ernest Jones, which is a huge,
huge thing for this team in the offseason because that's
that's Mike McDonald's guy. And in his defense, which second
half of the season, as you all know, Steve was
(22:35):
one of the best defenses in the NFL once he
kind of figured it out and got some guys in there,
and we saw Leonard Williams blossom all those things. The
defense we feel pretty good about. They could use an
edge rusher who couldn't, probably use another corner who couldn't.
But but they their safeties are set. Linebackers are set.
Young guys on the defensive line, et cetera. But on
the other side, the line of scrimmage is still a concern.
(22:57):
They got two young tackles they still feel good about.
Lucas will be healthy for the first time in a
couple of years, and Cross coming back for his fourth
year as well. But the middle of that line, Steve,
we talked about all year is a struggle. There's guys
coming in off the boards. Fries signs today for eighty
eight million dollars and I'm not sure which one of
you guys was saying it yesterday in the podcast or
(23:18):
this morning when I was listening to it, actually, but
it feels like there are some guys getting overpaid and
you kind of kind of look around and go, Okay,
is that a prudent move? What's your read on the
offensive line, because there seems to be every team needs
the guys in the middle of that offensive line, and
it feels like some dudes are getting paid that frankly,
probably are getting paid more.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
Than they're worth.
Speaker 9 (23:39):
Yeah, it is both sides of the lines, really, I
mean defensive line, it's like high end rotational players, low
end starters making fifteen million dollars a year.
Speaker 5 (23:49):
Offensive line is similar.
Speaker 9 (23:50):
Fries was like a low Like if you said a
year ago, this dude's going to make eighty eight million
over five years, you say the guy has one year
starting in the NFL, and he was okay, he's a
low end starter. This is like the you know, your
number four pitchers making number one or two money type
of deal. And he had a good year. I mean
he's got potentially he's heading into year five. He had
(24:11):
a good five game stretch last year for the Colts
and then got hurt. So you're kind of baking on
that upside. But it's a lot of money. And that's
why I tend to lean on this combination of guys
that are like in their early to mid thirties, that
are a little bit older, the Morgan moseses of the
world that I always highlight who are just really dependable
and good and you get them for half the price,
(24:32):
and maybe it's not a long term play, but you
need to sprinkle one or two of these guys in
every offseason really to just kind of keep the line.
So you kind of develop with the draft. Maybe you
overpay for one free agent and you get the older,
dependable guy, and that mix, portfolio mix, you know, I
think helps, so you don't have massive like you have
(24:52):
right now, maybe three spots that you're trying to fill
on the offensive line.
Speaker 5 (24:55):
So look, there's.
Speaker 9 (24:57):
Every team's trying to shore up their offensive line and
defense blind.
Speaker 5 (25:00):
The Eagles didn't just invent this this year because everybody.
Speaker 9 (25:03):
Thought, you're going to do what the Eagles did, right,
I mean, this has been football for one hundred years,
is building the cretches and then fill in on the perimeter.
Speaker 5 (25:09):
So everybody's trying to do it.
Speaker 9 (25:10):
And there's just scarcity at both off the defensive line position.
Speaker 5 (25:14):
So there's there's a lot of money flowing around.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
Remember when I was back doing NBA stuff in the
early two thousands and you have people call in the station.
You got to get a guy like that, that guy
from Chicago, like you got to get a guy like Jordan.
I guess you need a guy like that. Yeah, yeah,
you probably do. I mean, yeah, you probably need I
need an offensive line like the Eagles. That's kind of
seems like it makes sense, but kind of hard sometimes.
(25:36):
If I'm not mistaken, who's the dude you guys are
talking about that Miles Garrett just ate for lunch and
just got a massive payday.
Speaker 9 (25:44):
That was Dan Moore, the Steelers starting left tackle. So
he was never great, but like in games that he
did not play against Miles Garrett, he was reasonable. And
he would go up against Garrett and lose like eight, ten,
twelve times a game. I mean just fast, really fast
losses and weren't all for sacks. You just go back
and he just watched them one on one and he
just didn't stand a chance. And I know from a
(26:06):
PFF perspective, and always crushed his past blocking grade because
he faced Garrett, you know, twice a year. He couldn't
block him. So he's a he's a pretty good left tackle.
He made over twenty million. He's getting better but every year,
but over twenty million a year for average to slightly
above average left tackle maybe at best, and you know
that's the that's the going rate. And he struggles against
the best as we've seen against against Miles Garrett, that's
(26:28):
Dan Moore now.
Speaker 5 (26:29):
At the Titans.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
I think you just described Charles Cross to me. I
think that's what I think.
Speaker 9 (26:34):
I think Cross is better than that. I mean, look,
every tackle is going to get beaten by you know,
the Boss of the World, or by Garrett, by TJ. Watt,
by Khalil Mack von Miller in their prime, those types
of players. Michael Parsons, that's going to happen Across Across
turning out to be pretty good. I think he was
the one guy I thought that was pretty consistent last year.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
Okay, so now those two guys have called me stupid
with about Charles Cross.
Speaker 5 (26:57):
The other one was stupid.
Speaker 1 (26:58):
No, I I gotta tell you this story.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
My son, who is him self owning right, No, my.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
Son's who just finished his career as a left tackle
playing college football. I'd said something about Cross and he
lit me up, like, what are you watching? You don't
know what you're talking about.
Speaker 5 (27:12):
You're an idiot.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
Here's what Cross does.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
And I guess, okay, yeah, two for two Cross, Cross
will get the They'll roll his his option year over, obviously,
because if guys that are not as good as him
are making twenty million, that makes sense for Seattle. But
what remains is the interior of that line, So Steve
what's left out there for John Schneider to take a
(27:34):
peek at.
Speaker 9 (27:36):
So the guy that I really like is Kevin Jenkins,
who's guard for the Bears. I think he's still available
if he hasn't signed. In the last ten minutes, the
Bears offensive line I think maybe got a bad rap.
They probably looked a little bit worse than than they
were the last couple of years. I thought Jenkins is
pretty good. He's battled some injuries. That the old man
is Kevin Zeitler, who, again I don't know if the
(27:58):
fit is there or if he has certain teams you
want to play for. He'd be a one year stop
gap type of option. But that's what I'm saying, like
you sometimes need a combination of those things, a long
term free agent, a one year stop gap, and then
draft and develop. You kind of have to do all
of that on the defensive line, and I'm as sorry
on the offensive line, and see what sticks. Will Hernandez
from the Cardinals and again, these are all players when
(28:19):
Cardinals fans say, oh, Will Hernandez, yeah he's terrible, and
Bears fans are probably saying, yeah, why would you take
anybody from our offensive line? But that's just the nature
of it, right, I mean, you want to be I
creep back toward average is the phrase we always use
on the podcast.
Speaker 5 (28:33):
You have to get guys that are at least serviceable
so you don't have weaknesses.
Speaker 9 (28:36):
And it was Seattle's offensive line terrible up and down
last year. No, but those points on the right side
where they were unplayable at right guard.
Speaker 5 (28:45):
And right tackle.
Speaker 9 (28:45):
And that's the issue is you can't have massive holes
up front because you just can't run your offense consistently.
So Tevin Jenkins, maybe Brandon Sheriff is a one year deal,
Will Hernandez, those types of players at guard, Brady Christiansen,
just seeing what sticks there. In addition to probably three
draft picks with you know the ten that they have now,
(29:06):
I believe it is, yeah, three draft picks to just
get more bodies in the room. Maybe Christian Haynes develops
in the new system. I always liked him as his
own block type of guy. You know that for the
Kubiak scheme, it could be a good fit. I think
you have to throw a lot at the interior of
the offensive line and see what sticks.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
Okay, and that I was gonna bring that before you
go La Maya Haynes, maybe even Bradford old Timmy at center.
Is there a chance that internally they have guys that
every Seahawks fan thinks are awful but actually maybe in reality,
the new coaching staff, Kubiak's new offensive line coaches, these
guys that around the NFL for a long time haven't
proven track record in that new scheme. Is there a
(29:44):
chance that those guys might be dudes that they feel
okay about?
Speaker 5 (29:48):
There's a chance, but it's risky.
Speaker 8 (29:50):
You know.
Speaker 9 (29:50):
That's you're you're you're working on your own evaluations, which
include a sixth round pick, a third round pick who
looked overwhelmed Oliver Timmy was was okay last year, but
he's fifth round pick, right, I mean, so you're expecting
big jumps in production just based off the scheme, and
that could happen for a player. And this is why
I say, see what six It could happen for one
of them, but for three guys to all take massive
(30:14):
leaps in year two or three in their career. I
think that's the challenge is projecting that. So that's really
risky to me. So I think you want to bring
in this combination of veterans the youth movement on the roster,
hoping that one of those guys develops, and the draft
and then out of you know, five to six or
seven options, you land at three starters that end up
(30:36):
being your best line to go.
Speaker 5 (30:37):
With Cross and Lucas at tackle.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
They will have five offensive lineman when they take the
field that next year. I'm pretty confident of that. Who
those guys will be. We'll find out down the road.
Tell folks about check the mic the podcast again, it's
fantastic if you're an NFL fans, A must listen to you.
I'm assuming you guys have multiple episodes coming up in
the next few days.

think he'll be here for more than a game, maybe two.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
Most more reason to tune in, more reason tune in.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
Okay, let's uh, I want to get to something good.
That's kind of cool. So some of the crosses yesterday
in the world we live in right now, I mean
we just we have Corbin on once a week on
Friday or Thursdays, Animal City, Spectrum, Brand New Endeavor, Local journalism,
(34:12):
some guy named Anderson Hurst, Chris Crawford, Corman Smith and others.
Good but it's a local journalism and journalism is good.
Journalism kind of fading a little bit these days, right
go to go away a little bit, yes so, but
there's still kids studying journalism in college and grinding away
and doing their thing, including at the University of Texas.
(34:35):
The newspaper there, the student newspaper the University of Texas,
there were three students who made the drive sixteen hours
to the women's SEC basketball tournament. Well after that game,
the head coach for Texas, Vick Schaefer, who team his
(34:57):
team got smoked sixty four to forty five by South
Carolina in the SEC championship game. Despite all that, Vick
Schaeffer acknowledged a group of three student reporters who had
driven sixteen hours on their own dime to cover the team.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
I want y'all to know, when it comes time to
get a job, you put me on your resume.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
That's really unique.
Speaker 13 (35:25):
And I'm proud that you guys are here, and I'm
proud that you take enough pride in your job.
Speaker 5 (35:33):
That you would do that because you don't have to
do that, and I think people need to know that.
So thank you for being here.
Speaker 1 (35:39):
Really cool, really cool.
Speaker 4 (35:41):
I loved him shouting them out.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
See well, he pointed them out in the press conference too.
He said, wait, okay, because were you sitting here and
going over there?
Speaker 1 (35:49):
And yeah, And that comes on the heels of Kim
Mulkey scolding reporters that were in a side room that
weren't covering her team or her press conference, and they
were having a bite to eat a snack in between
covering multiple games. It comes on the heels of Jim
Beheim famously infamously torpedoing some student reporters. Mike Krzyzewski did
(36:10):
the same thing over the years. When you're a college coach,
you have student reporters that cover your team part of
the deal, and all too often some of these coaches,
with these massive egos, and especially after a loss, but
sometimes even after a win, treat these young people with
absolutely zero respect and most frankly mostly just disdain. So
(36:32):
for Vick Shaeffer to do that, I thought was really cool.
It's pretty awesome. You're grinding away, you're trying to make
a living in this crazy business of media, and you
drive on your own sixteen bloody hours to go for
a student newspaper to cover the game just because. And
it wasn't the men's tournament, by the way, again, it
was the women's SEC.
Speaker 3 (36:51):
Which I think the major headline there too is that
that is an undercovered tournament. It was a conference tournament.
It wasn't even the I'm sorry I'm saying tournament meant
so much, But.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
You deal with it.
Speaker 4 (37:02):
Your point is, well.
Speaker 5 (37:05):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
This is an undercovered conference tournament that in women's basketball,
and you know you weren't throwing shade at it. It
is undercovered. And so for three student journalists to have
done that, to find the importance of it while they're
going through getting their degree and taking that sixteen hour drive,
(37:28):
they found so much importance in covering this game where
they got shellacked. I just I think that's really really
awesome of a coach of that stature to recognize that.
And also I went through not exactly the same situation,
but I was a student journalist too, and when someone
recognized a good.
Speaker 2 (37:49):
Work that I did, or at least the effort.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
That I put into it, it motivated me to continue
along that and also be better. And that is more
of what we need in this world. That's why something
good is something good.
Speaker 1 (38:02):
I hope those guys all take him up on it too,
put them on the resume, try to get a job.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
I would. I would in an instant be like, hey,
can I get your digits?
Speaker 1 (38:09):

is these days, John London Leashed. You can watch it
on YouTube, you can watch it on Twitter, you can
watch it on Instagram. I don't know if I miss
any platforms. Podcast later, but there's a website John London Leash,
and it's also like a new little web group of
(39:59):
guys to and others that are all putting this together.
And dude, you're always on the air, like last night
at flip on social media and you're reacting to Kyle
yust check or something, what's going on?
Speaker 13 (40:09):
Yeah, that's what you got to do. You're like a
doctor on column, very important, very important doctor and which
sports news breaks. Yeah, that's what we do. And so
it is. So is everyone in Seattle? Are they loving
the fact that the forty nine ers are literally falling
apart moment by moment. Oh, they just really said that.
They truly second, it's really sad. And like you told,
like you said last night, you texted me this last night.
(40:29):
I was giving praise to the Seahawks. I think they
have the Sam Darnold's the best signing of free agency
so far. That's that was a good move.
Speaker 1 (40:35):
How'd that go over it? How'd that go over with
your listeners in the Bay Area when you said that?
Speaker 13 (40:39):
Yeah, well, a lot of dirty words, a lot of
a lot of nasty things. And there's a there's an
unwritten role probably that you have to live by as well,
that you can't say nice things about the about the rival.
But you know, I said this last week. You know
when Gino Smith got traded. I'm sure you said the
same thing. It's like, look, good organizations have to have plans.
It doesn't mean the plan is always going to work.
But right right when Gino Smith got traded, I go,
(41:00):
they're getting Sam Donald's. There's any question. And you know, look,
the only reason I'm big on Sam Donald is because
he was here in San Francisco for the year behind
rock Perty and helped to resurrect his career. And when
we watched him in training camp, he doesn't process it
always fast. But from a standpoint, I guarantee this is
going to happen in Seattle. Everyone when they watch training
(41:22):
camp is going to be like, oh my god, this
guy throws the best ball we've ever seen in Seattle. Now,
remember a guy named Joe Montana, he was here, a
guy named Steve Young was here, and we wrote and
talked about he threw the prettiest ball we've ever seen
in San Francisco. Doesn't mean he's the best quarterback. It's
just from a pure the ball that he throws and
the physical attributes he has, and there's a reason why
(41:44):
he was the third overall pick. His problem was always
processing it, and we even saw it because Brock is
such a good processor that Donald was a little bit slow.
But in terms of just he's an underrated athlete, he
throws an amazing ball. I don't know if it's a
one year wonder or not. You know, he had a
lot of guys around and they were really good Minnesota
and with Kevin O'Connell, so I don't know how he's
going to do in Seattle. I'm just simply saying from
(42:05):
a physical standpoint, a lot of people who covered the Seahawks,
you included in writers and everything else. When training camp
starts in Seattle, I guarantee you this will happen. Everyone
will be writing about early in camp that he throws
the prettiest ball, the best ball that we've ever seen
in the history of the Seahawks. They're going to say
that because that's what he looks like. Now. Whether he
can play, I don't know, but Gino Smith is thirty four,
(42:28):
Sam is twenty seven. The deal is, I'm sure you've
deciphered by now, is only a two year deal. Basically,
all these dumb contracts that are being thrown around are
a bunch of funny monopoly money. And the Donald deal
to me, given all the stupid contracts that have already
been given out, I think Donald has been the best
move of free agency so far.
Speaker 1 (42:45):
Well, I mean the thing is is seven years younger
than Gino, eight or nine million cheaper at least in
the first two years, and Gino want I mean, Gino
left because they couldn't come to an agreement. They weren't
going to pay him what he wanted at the age
of thirty five, thirty six, thirty seven, and that's why
he left. And you know, I mean every team in
this league is held hostage by the quarterback position. That
you're just you're you're yeah, you're beholden to the quarterback position. Like,
(43:09):
if we're being honest, I like, brock Party's not worth
what he's going to get paid.
Speaker 13 (43:14):
No, right, Well, that's see, that's that's why I think
what Seattle did is an ultra ballsy move that I
think is going to pay offul see. But basically, you
just hit it right in the head. And this is
what I've been talking about too, is hey, there isn't
there is very rarely leverage at the position. And normally
what happens is you just got to you just gotta
eat it. You're just like this guy's good. You don't
have to be the greatest, you have to be the latest.
(43:36):
And so what happens is these quarterbacks are the latest,
not the greatest. At one point, Jimmy Garoppolo is the
highest paid quarterback in the league in twenty eighteen because
he was the latest. He certainly is hell wasn't the greatest.
And so that's what happens. And you just you don't
have any options, you don't have any leverage, so you
just grin and Barrett, you know, you've got nice guys,
not the best, So that's what you do. And when
(43:56):
Gino Smith, I don't know you would know better than me,
went forty five million to the Seahawks, like you know,
and said, hey, Donald's out there. You know you wanted
nothing to do with Aaron Rodgers. When Donald was out there,
he thought, you know what, he's twenty seven. We'll take
a chance that he's having a good year. But he
was the throw it overall pit for a reason. It
took him a minute then, obviously, and and so they
made the move, and I'm sure people up there were
(44:16):
freaking out. You try DK and Lockett's gone, and you're like,
what the hell are we gonna do? But too many
people don't look. You know, like when I walk into
a house, my wife has a vision of the house
what it could look like, and I'm like, this is
a piece of garbage. We're not buying it. She's like, no,
I have a vision. And then it happens and we
as guys go oh yeah, okay, yeah, I see there's
you know, John Snyder's not stupid, and so he has
(44:38):
a he you know, he has his moments, but he
looks at their situation and he says, I got a vision.
Here are we going to be ten and seven nine
and eight eight nine for the next eight you know
X amount of year? Who gino Smith? Or are we
going to have some balls and go for it? And
I think what they did was they had some foresight
now whether they could get receivers, whatever. But it's kind
of a similar situation to hear. If the forty nine
ers didn't want to pay Brock fifty five to sixty,
(45:01):
which they're gonna have to do, then what I was
telling people here is then go get Sam Darnold and
have some balls like Seattle did. But they didn't do
that here, and so there's no more leverage. Aaron Rodgers
isn't coming here. His ego and Kyle Shanan's ego could
not co exist in the same state, let alone the
same room. So they don't have leverage. Aaron Rodgers. They're
gonna have to pay, but not great sixty million bucks
(45:25):
because he's twenty five years old, and that's what they're
gonna get stuck doing. So I give Seattle a ton
of credit because they could have stayed down the GINO
Smith Road and i'sn's safe nine eight, eight and nine,
ten and seven turn Stowski. They decided that wasn't good
enough for them.
Speaker 1 (45:38):
John Lynn joining us, John Lund unleashed. We'll tell you
about that at the end as well. So you know
this this is the time of the year where not
just quarterbacks are getting paid, but like everyone's getting paid.
You get you know, average offensive linemen, depth, defensive linemen, cornerbacks,
doesn't matter. Everyone's getting paid. So like as he's all
(45:59):
these numbers of getting thrown out there, you know, gms
have to be judicious in what they do. That said,
what are the forty nine ers doing right now?
Speaker 13 (46:10):
Jed York came out the owner the of the forty
nine ers, and you probably know this information, but I'll
make it quick. They paid three hundred and thirty four
million dollars last year and pay player salaries, which was
the most in the league, and they got a six
and eleven record out of it. Now, they had injuries,
and I understand all those kind of things, but also
they have sixty five million dollars in dead cap, so
we forget about the guys that our team pays. So
(46:32):
Eric Armstead is still being paid by this team, and
Shavarious Ward's still being paid, and Javon Hartrave resigned in Minnesota,
is still being paid. They've got all this dead cap space,
and they went for it, and they went for it
and they went for it, and finally the owner just went, look,
I'm getting no or ROI on this thing, return on investment.
And we got a bunch of guys that overpaid. And
I think the perfect example. They're not going to draw
the line at brock Perry. They're going to pay him.
(46:53):
But what they decided to do was, you look at
a guy like Dray green Law, for example, guy who
you know famous hit Hollister at the one yard line
back in nineteen that gave the four nine Ers the
number one seed that year. That was his claim to pay.
He's a great linebacker, next to next to Fred Warner.
He played thirty four snaps last year. And Ernest Jones
(47:15):
helped this help this happen. Ernest Jones signed and a
few of those linebackers signed the night before free agency
at about thirteen to fifteen million a pop per year. Well,
the Niners had had Greenlock coming off an achilles injury
and playing thirty four snaps. They had him slated about
eight to ten and they weren't going to go over
that number. In past years, they'd make an emotional decision
and they'd sign him and they pay him. But Jed
(47:38):
York decided this year that that stuff was going to stop,
and so he goes to Denver for eleven million bucks.
They're just they're at the point, and then they got
a bunch of dumb contracts. Like you just said, they're
left guard. Aaron Banks sucks. He sucks. He's the seventy
third rated guard by Pro Football Focus. You may think
that that's you know that they're screwing and they're wrong,
(47:58):
but go look at some of their top ten. They're
pretty on the point. He's the seventy third ranked guard.
There aren't even seventy three guards in the league, and
he just got four. He got four years and seventy
seven million. Now that's twenty money from Green Bay. But still,
you know, Jalen Moore has been a terrible swing tackle
for the Niners for years, has had a decent year
in a few games this year, and Casey gave him
(48:19):
two and thirty. So there's a lot of quantity that
left the forty nine ers, but not a lot of quality.
A fun is a guy that we all know from
sc and he was good with the Niners for one year,
but he got a three year, forty five million dollar deal.
He's been injured most of the last few years, and
he was the seventy third rank safety. So there's a
lot of good names and so forth, and a lot
of guys left, and everyone's freaking out. But you and
(48:41):
I both know this, and fans deep down know this
free agency isn't the way to winning in the NFL.
You've got a draft, develop, and resign. And the teams
who have the most money, like New England yesterday, who
you know is like is like me on a drunken
vacation with monopoly money, they went out and signed a
bunch of guys like Milton Williams for one hundred million,
all that they're going to regret in two years and
(49:03):
they're going to be in the exact same spot that
they're in right now. You have to draft, develop, and resign.
And so the Niners got to a point where they said, look,
enough of this and we're going to reset this thing. Now, look,
I'm having set all those things. They're not as good
as they were yesterday. And to me the division and
to and again there's a plan for the forty nine ers.
So we'll see what the plan is. But the plan
(49:24):
basically is pick through the leftovers and free agency, and
then John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan got to start drafting
some players because that's how this team was built in
the first place. And you and I always go back
and reference this. It's like those three drafts Seattle had
in a row and that you know what was eleven ten,
eleven twelve and that kind of thing. The Niners got
to hit that again. The Niners have to do that
(49:44):
same thing which they did which got them in this
spot where they got guys like Warner and Kittle and
you know down that line like that, where they drafted
in the mid rounds really well and it got them
to where they're going. They didn't go out in free
agency and sign a bunch of guys in for agency.
Speaker 5 (49:59):
They can do that.
Speaker 13 (50:00):
They drafted well and it got them to their point.
And then those guys got their contracts and now they're saying,
if you're non essential to this organization. We just can't.
We can't do that anymore. Yeah, so you know they're
going to take a step back though, don't get me wrong.
And they lost a lot of guys and I think
they lost very little quality but lots of quantity. That's
being overrated by national media. But don't get me wrong.
(50:22):
They're not as good as they were yesterday, that's for sure.
Speaker 1 (50:24):
Well it's because the names, like we recognize who Fond
he's an All Pro as a rookie, but then he's
been hurt green Law. We all know the stud but
he's been hurt. Right, So those guys offensive lineman is
the offensive line one is the crazy one, like you
just you just told And I'm glad you said that
because there's you know, fans here and rightfully so there
is there's massive concern, rightfully so in Seattle about the
(50:45):
middle of the offensive line here. Yeah, they got cross
and they've got they got cross and they've got Lucas
to play tackle. They're fine there, but the middle of
the offensive line was a massive issue last year. The
right tackle was too because Lucas wasn't healthy. But he's
finally healthy after two years. So guards and center are
a big concern and they haven't got They signed this
Josh Jones kid to basically you know, four point seventy five. Yeah,
(51:07):
he's just a dude, right, He's just a guy. He's
a deaf guy. But they're worried about that. But you're
talking about what when you talk about a tackle and
a guard for the forty nine ers that weren't very good,
they're getting that kind of money. You just at some
point you got to draw a line in the stand.
It's like, the worst contract is that type of contract
that you're going to regret. And you just said it
with all of a sudden, all that dead money and
(51:27):
your cap is still there. What do you do well?
Speaker 13 (51:30):
I mean, well, you're gonna be in the same spot
in two years. I mean, I'll give you an example
that you guys are looking at the kid, the kid
from the Colts will Freeze. Yeah, like that kid, he
got a ridiculous amount of money. I forgot who he
ended up signing with. Minnesota, Okay, I'll get Minnesota is
a perfect example. Minnesota goes out today overpays massively for
(51:51):
that guy. Pacer Javon Hargrave, who the forty nine ers
kicked to the curb. He stinks and they got Jonathan Allen, who, again,
Jonathan Allen is a great name. He's a two time
Pro Bowler. He's a thirty year old guy coming off
a peck injury. And again sorry going back and pro
football focus, but he was like the fiftieth rank defensive tackle.
What happens here in free agency?
Speaker 3 (52:11):
And I know fans, John, there are we seriously going
to lose that? That was a good tease right there.
Speaker 1 (52:20):
I think him back. We're gonna get him back here
in a second.
Speaker 2 (52:23):
Yeah, I mean, are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (52:24):
Unleashed is the name of his thing, So I don't
want him unleashed Like he knows Bradio right, he knows what.
Speaker 2 (52:31):
He can and cannot say.
Speaker 1 (52:32):
Is he calling back what we got?
Speaker 3 (52:34):
So Unleashed is a different version of John Lunnon that
I would really like to see.
Speaker 1 (52:39):
We got this thing he's bringing, he's bringing up names.
I'm just going to give you one before we get
him back on this. This is what jumped out at me.
The Texans signed Lake and Tomlinson to a four point
twenty five million dollars one year deal. Well, we saw him.
He played every you know, he played with the Seahawks,
played every offensive snap last year.
Speaker 2 (52:58):
He also came in highly regarded kind of locker.
Speaker 1 (53:03):
Locker room guy. But like they paid for Pike and
Siel didn't want Tom back, they could have easily afforded that. Yes,
they paid, they paid Josh Jones the same amount of money. Basically, yeah,
what you don't do, John, You're just talking about some
of the crazy contracts.
Speaker 13 (53:18):
Well, know, what I'm saying is is that people think
that free agency is going to solve everything. It's not.
And the kind of guys who make it to free
agency there's a rare occasion. Now, look, Saquon Barkley last
year was because the Giants were just stupid. But then
the Eagles got lucky on a guy like Zack Bond.
You can get lucky on guys. But what generally is
the role in free agency is it's a guy who's
too old. It's a guy who's too hurt. It's a
(53:39):
guy who's too inconsistent, it's a guy who hasn't lived
up to it yet. There's a reason why nine times
out of ten that a guy makes it to free agency.
And then what people think is the teams who have
money are trying to make up for draft errors because
they can't draft, develop, and resign these guys. And then
fans get excited because they hear the name Jonathan Allen.
Allen sucks. They hear the name Chaefon Hargrave, Hargraves sucks.
(54:02):
They hear you know, all these guys are better in
name than the arn reality. I'll give you a great example.
The Niners here after releasing Leonard Floyd. I think they're
going to go after Joey Bosa at a cheap deal.
Joey Bosa hasn't had double digit sacks since twenty twenty one.
He's had fourteen sacks in the last three years. He's
the seventy second rated edge defender in the league. He
(54:23):
played in forty nine point six percent of the snaps
for the Chargers, so the Chargers are trying to keep
him healthy. He was a situational player last year, and
yet people here think that the Bosa brothers are going
to save the day, and the reality is Joey Bosa
is Joey Bosa in name only. So's that's the problem
with free agency is that these people are panicking and
you'll hit on some of these guys don't get me wrong,
(54:45):
but why is it that the same teams every single
year have money in free agency? The Jaguars do that, now,
the Patriots do. These bad teams, and like, I'll just
go back to the Seahawks. I think the Darnold deal
is a great deal because you've got a guy who's
twenty seven, who I think is really coming into his
own now, and you got him on a decent deal.
The kids from the Colts, the guard that they would
(55:07):
have gotten, it would have been great for today, and
then tomorrow Seahawks fans would have woken up with buyer's remorse, going,
why did we spend all that money on that guy?
That's ridiculous, And so I just it's it's really fool's
gold is what free agency is, and everybody loves it.
But the smart teams then wait a day or two
and then they picked through the rubble and they find
a couple of guys that are that are priced well
(55:28):
that teams missed on, and then those guys generally contribute.
But if you're gonna if you think you're gonna build
your team on free agency, you're gonna be sorely mistaken.
Because I look Zach Bond was a nice signing and
Barkley was a nice signing, but that's generally not how
it works. You can, you know, there's a key trader
once in a while, but you better draft and develop
and that's how the game works.
Speaker 1 (55:48):
Yeah, and I just John Lone joining us. I think
that's the thing is like, is if you have buyer's remorse,
is the worst thing you can have. And you know,
the one reason that Seahawks fans probably can be pessimistic about,
especially the offense line, is that they just haven't drafted
well at that position at all. I mean, they've missed.
They've drafted more offensive lineman I think than anybody since
(56:08):
Schnyder got here in the league in twenty ten. And
they've had one guy that made the Pro Bowl, that
was Russell Kong in twenty twelve. So they've like they
have not drafted quality, just quantity. So can that change, Well,
maybe with the new coaching staff having more of a say,
guys have experience in the league coaching the offensive line,
not a couple of college coaches, maybe all that can
change this year. And maybe that's part of the reason
they haven't signed guys is you know, is Clint Kubiak
(56:31):
and his new staff guys are like, no, man, I
don't need will freeze eighty eight million dollars, John, we can.
We can find somebody else.
Speaker 13 (56:39):
That's a silly signing.
Speaker 1 (56:41):
Yeah, you know, and.
Speaker 7 (56:42):
All that.
Speaker 1 (56:44):
Quickly on the rams because we need to touch on them.
It's it's it's our neighborhood here, the NFC West. So
they they're gonna get rid of Cooper Cup by the way,
just a news bulletin. No one's going to trade for
him in the contract like they're gonna help yeah, exactly,
like go get them. Yeah, a lot of people might
be interested in him after he clears waivers. But Davante Adams,
(57:05):
they signed him to a two year, forty six million
dollar contract. That's the that's the rotting carcass formally known
as Davante Adams. Like really.
Speaker 13 (57:17):
Really well to me, it's amazing, And I know you
get frustrated with a guy like like Cooper Cup because
he had the injuries. But like you said, DeVante Adams
is on the downside of his career. He I just
don't understand what you're doing in that kind of a situation.
You're overpaying for that guy. I know I've heard the
rumors on Cup. I think Cup, if he's healthy, is
still good. I think that he would be a I
(57:39):
think he'd be really good for the Seahawks. And I
know i've heard that name. Another name I heard this morning,
and I don't know if you've heard this. You mentioned
Click Kubiak, who's got a connection with the forty nine ers.
Kyle Yuschak got released by the.
Speaker 1 (57:51):
Why did they release him? And what does he have left?
Speaker 13 (57:55):
Well, he's just too expensive. I mean it's I mean,
that's what it comes down to on this team is
he saves six million dollars by by cutting him. The
two things he brings well, the first of all, the
reason he's gone is he's a fullback. But he mean,
he's not a hammer fullback. So they signed a guy
from the from the Jaguars who's going to be a
move tight end, Luke Ferrell, and he's going to take
over for what us Check did. But they didn't sign
(58:16):
him cheaply. But what you sech can do is he's
a good not great blocker. He's not going to run
the ball. The forty nine Ers didn't utilize him enough.
I mean with all the weapons that the forty nine
ers have. How you second is a really good receiver.
He went to Harvard, so you know he played tight
end at Harvard. I had to go into Harvard. Where
did you go Harvard?
Speaker 5 (58:34):
You went to the Harvard.
Speaker 1 (58:35):
You went to the Harvard and the Beehive State, Utah State.
Speaker 13 (58:40):
I barely got in there. I apply to Harvard. They're like,
this is a joke, right.
Speaker 1 (58:47):
If you go back in time, I should have done
something like that. I'm gonna fly at Harvard. What happens.
Speaker 13 (58:50):
But if if if Seattle could get him on a deal,
I don't know. If that, I don't know if you
need a full back because you can get a move
tight end to do a lot of the things that
he does. And like I said, he's a good, not
great blocker, but you know, he's a really good receiver
if you utilize him more. And the forty nine ers
just didn't. They just he was I mean he'd be
running wide open down like a left sideline with his
(59:11):
hand up and no one would even see the guy.
So look, he can he makes good plays in the
on the offense. He does a lot of the little things.
He's a good, not great blocker, but What he is
really too is for a for a team like the
Seahawks kind of trying to get over that hump is
he is an amazing locker room guy. Now do you
want to pay five million for an amazing locker room guy?
Not so much. But he just he's a great chemistry guy.
(59:33):
He's really good to have in your locker room. You
love him. From a media standpoint, I think, and I
don't think he slipped a whole lot. I talked to
him at the end of the year actually in the
locker room, and he's like, tell me because he knew
he was getting cut because they he had a he
had a he got reduced last year, and so he
was He had a pretty good idea he was leaving.
But I talked to him and he fought out. Said
to me, he's like, where have I regressed?
Speaker 5 (59:54):
Like?
Speaker 13 (59:54):
Where where have I regressed? So, you know, I think
he'd be a good pack pick up if the Seahawks
wanted that type of a player, because he's not like you're, hey,
let's hammer him in the hole and he's going to
figure that thing out like a recard of the Ravens
or runs.
Speaker 1 (01:00:08):
He's not that fullback you know, we'll just real quick.
Does the Kubiak offense need a need that in the backfield?
Speaker 13 (01:00:16):
Yeah, I mean I think it's a luxury and that's
why then forty nine ers cut him. I think it's
a luxury. But I think from a standpoint of teams
still play. Yeah, he can still play and do the
things that he did, which, like I said, I if
you're the Seahawks, I would feature him in some you know,
passing situations. Make him a receiver. Not he's not the
number one option, but he can make plays and he's
always played well against Seattle. So look, I like the guy,
(01:00:38):
but he definitely is a luxury item that if you know,
but he's you know again, they're not making a ton
of money. I mean it's five million bucks. I mean
that is that a boatload of money in today's NFL?
Speaker 1 (01:00:47):
Not really, So I would definitely look at him, definitely,
Not in terms of this year's free agency. Okay, I
gotta go tell people about John Lennon, Leish and the
little network you guys have going on.
Speaker 13 (01:00:57):
Yeah, John London, Leash dot Com, John Lennon and leased
on YouTube and we just started a bunch of guys
with a bunch of Barry guys, which I'm sure everyone
would be very interested, called the Barrier Sports Collective. So
it's a really cool thing. So have everybody check it out.
I appreciate you. And like I said, I know I
shouldn't say this, but everyone freaking out for the Seahawks.
I like the Darnold move and I like what they're doing.
(01:01:17):
I like the direction. I don't know what the reaction
has been, but you know, the DK thing, what what
real quick? I know you got to run, but what
was the reaction.
Speaker 1 (01:01:25):
On DK surprise that he wanted to get out? That
happened on a Sunday and then all hell's breaking loose
and there's there's both excitement about what's ahead, but there's
a lot of people stressed out as and just that's
how NFL fans work, you know how that is. I
mean that's just fine.
Speaker 13 (01:01:38):
Well, the thing is, you know the one, the one
real quick thing, and I know you got to run.
Receivers are a diamond dozen. I don't know why in
twenty twenty four all the gms got drunk and said
that they had to have these guys who have no leverage.
It's up the quarterback position. You're gonna find receivers. You're
not going to find a DK physically to do the
things that he did. But you know, if let's say
they got Cup and let's say they got JSN, and
(01:01:58):
then you know, now you've got to get it, you know,
a big, big play receiver. But those guys are available,
and you don't have to take them in the first round. No,
So I think they're in a good spot.
Speaker 1 (01:02:06):
I do too, all right. John Lennon Lee shall be
on later. He'll be saying nice things about the Seahawks
and talking a lot of NFC West, So if you're
an n F NFC West fan, go check them out.
John London leish, we'll talk to you next week.
Speaker 5 (01:02:14):
Buddy.
Speaker 13 (01:02:15):
Thanks, Thanks brother.
Speaker 1 (01:02:16):
There you go. John Lond does a great job. We'll
come back. Check the text next.
Speaker 8 (01:02:22):
My from the R and R Foundation Specialist Broadcast Studio
back to Ian Furnance, Power Advice, Seattle's Closest sports book.
Snow Call me Casino on Sports Radio Netty three point
three k j R FM.
Speaker 1 (01:02:49):
Hi, we're back cruising along here on a Tuesday afternoon.
Let's get some text. Four nine four five one on
the Telemarny sex Line actually no, just on the time line. Sorry,
I guess it's text lines of free agents. What I've
heard it is, if.
Speaker 2 (01:03:06):
You want to text into this show, we accept all
of them.
Speaker 4 (01:03:11):
Want to sponsor our text line?
Speaker 1 (01:03:13):
Oh well yeah? Four two five? Name one elite wide
receiver that wasn't drafted in the first or second round?
Who can Nicula and Nico Collinsamal Ross Saint Brown try
to walk away at that point?
Speaker 7 (01:03:23):
Do you want to keep going?
Speaker 1 (01:03:24):
Is that good enough?
Speaker 7 (01:03:25):
I just a cup also drafted.
Speaker 1 (01:03:26):
Yeah, but I mean Amal Ross Saint Brown's at all pro?
Speaker 5 (01:03:29):
Left?
Speaker 7 (01:03:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:03:30):
Who can Nakula? Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:03:32):
He just crushed us a man, ra Let.
Speaker 1 (01:03:34):
Me go back to that though, just saying I said, okay,
name one elite wide receiver wasn't a drafted the first
It took me two seconds in the last two years.
Do you want to go to this organization? Steve Largent?
But I keep going, Doug Baldwin, I.
Speaker 7 (01:03:49):
Mean, keep going.
Speaker 2 (01:03:50):
I'm drafted, drafted, keep going? But I mean, why must
Tyler take in?
Speaker 4 (01:03:55):
He was third?
Speaker 6 (01:03:56):
Third?
Speaker 7 (01:03:56):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:03:57):
Yeah? Yeah, okay, good?
Speaker 1 (01:04:03):
You just know he wanted He didn't say he thinks
you have to drop him the.
Speaker 4 (01:04:06):
First or second round. You don't, so not a good point.
Speaker 1 (01:04:10):
Bad point.
Speaker 5 (01:04:13):
Point.
Speaker 1 (01:04:13):
Okay, why is no offense still on the team? His
cap hit isn't worth his production. I'm wondering if that
might be, like there's certain days you cut guys down,
certain dates to cut guys down. And I'm not capologists,
never will be, don't care, but I'm assuming that if
he is going to be cut, they're going to do
it whenever it's most advantageous to the team salary cap situation.
(01:04:37):
And that's what you're right, This two five three air code,
this cap it ain't worth the production.
Speaker 5 (01:04:43):
It is not worth it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:45):
No no offense. Oh yeah, follow along people today, follow along?
Speaker 7 (01:04:49):
Take a list.
Speaker 1 (01:04:49):
It's an audio Let me say, Anders Jess is an
audio medium.
Speaker 3 (01:04:55):
We have to talk, Okay, listening, that's worst part.
Speaker 2 (01:05:00):
Yeah, that does make sense. I really like no offans
on this team, but.
Speaker 1 (01:05:05):
I do get it. I liked off a lot, and
then he's never produced, Like he just has never ever produced.
And we've blamed two different offensive coordinators Shane Waldron first
and and then Ryan Grubb last year.
Speaker 2 (01:05:21):
I think we all had ceiling colored glasses on well.
Speaker 1 (01:05:25):
And he got he got traded for us, so we
wanted him to. We wanted him to, We needed that,
needed him to be good, wanted him to be good.
He got traded for USS. All those things came into play.
But what did he have one touchdown?
Speaker 7 (01:05:36):
Each?
Speaker 1 (01:05:37):
One touchdown total the last two years and it came
in the last game when the Rams were playing their
their junivarsity.
Speaker 2 (01:05:42):
Right, yeah, be wrong, half game zone.
Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
It's just a red zone. Yeah yeah, because actually he
did have the other touchdown thrown by Drew Locke and
for the Giants a couple of years ago. Yeah. Yeah,
red zone. He's a red zone to tight end and
he had one red zone touchdown. That seems not good.
I don't know, call me crazy. Let's see people only
(01:06:07):
talking age and money for the Gino Donald deal since
it's two six. The third round pick is in there too.
Speaker 2 (01:06:11):
Yeah, I mean, yeah, that is.
Speaker 4 (01:06:13):
Those are the.
Speaker 2 (01:06:14):
Two biggest things.
Speaker 4 (01:06:15):
It's also a good point because you just think about
oh Donald versus Geno, and like, okay, cheaper for Donald, check.
You know, Geno probably has more proven like he's done
it from a longer period of time. But then you
forget you also get a third round pick out of it.
Speaker 7 (01:06:27):
So I think.
Speaker 2 (01:06:27):
Exactly now, Yes, that is a really good point.
Speaker 4 (01:06:30):
Well that's what you're saying text.
Speaker 3 (01:06:32):
Yeah, no, but it is a really good point, Texter,
is that you know we actually got something for that too.
Speaker 1 (01:06:37):
Two five three says as follows. So, guys at the
Sex don't make the playoffs, it's John out of a job.
Speaker 4 (01:06:45):
I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (01:06:47):
I think John's on a hot seat. I don't know
how hot that seed is, but I think that there
is some pretty significant pressure for him to win this season,
and I don't I don't think that's going away. This
would be year two without Pete. They made the decision
to keep him and not Pete. I don't know what
kind of pressure there.
Speaker 5 (01:07:04):
Is on him.
Speaker 2 (01:07:05):
But do you have heated seats in your car?
Speaker 1 (01:07:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:07:08):
I would say it was.
Speaker 1 (01:07:09):
Low the one I have one, two and three seven.
Speaker 4 (01:07:12):
You have a nice car. I only have two.
Speaker 1 (01:07:14):
I have two.
Speaker 2 (01:07:15):
Yeah, so I would it's low and high.
Speaker 3 (01:07:18):
And I thought that was nice. Gezam with the one,
two three over here for me, i'd tell you like
for me with only two, Yeah, but it's but it's heated.
Speaker 4 (01:07:31):
This offseason I think defines John Schneider's post p Kale career.
Speaker 2 (01:07:37):
That is, yes, yes, I agree.
Speaker 1 (01:07:41):
Uh, let's see. Uh, I'm not into bashing the baseball
team right now, so I'm just gonna ignore.
Speaker 2 (01:07:51):
Oh yeah, no, we we didn't even talk about them.
Speaker 1 (01:07:53):
Give me Cooper released fan looking the draft for tight
ends not too. Here's an interesting thing. What happens is,
so you get to with the all the needs they
have for this team at on the offensive line, if
Ty Warren is there at eighteen, you take him one
hundred percent.
Speaker 4 (01:08:08):
I don't think he will be No, I don't think
so he's gonna be a top ten thick easily.
Speaker 1 (01:08:12):
I mean I I wanted him anyway, but that was
with DK and and JS and I'm like, yeah, that's fine.
I mean have now it's like having you know, George Kittle,
Brock Bowers, Travis Kelcey rolled into one. How much of
a priority U is it really for SAT? Now?
Speaker 5 (01:08:27):
It is? Now?
Speaker 1 (01:08:28):
It is? Because then how much better do you feel
about your receiving core if you get him a lot better?
Like a ton better?
Speaker 7 (01:08:34):
Right?
Speaker 3 (01:08:35):
Can we go back to the fourtune five? Sure we
want mister name one elite? Uh, Nikoua is not elite.
You got me with Saint Brown, Lockett and Baldwin were
not elite.
Speaker 1 (01:08:47):
They're both Pro bowls. Yeah, what do you want? Like
a Hall of Famer.
Speaker 4 (01:08:51):
Didn't didn't cook a CoA have Like, wasn't he an
all pros rook here?
Speaker 1 (01:08:56):
He probably seventeen or maybe at least and he still
really but let's yeah, you don't think Poka n Kuzma
is an elite wide receiver like I can't help you there, Yeah,
honest to god, I can't. I can't even help you
with that's the.
Speaker 2 (01:09:12):
Case, is just okay, yes, thank you? No, I thought
I was having a good day.
Speaker 1 (01:09:25):
The softiest thing turned up in here?
Speaker 7 (01:09:27):
Thing?
Speaker 4 (01:09:28):
Oh, I can turn it on now.
Speaker 1 (01:09:30):
Second, I gotta do this real quick. Let's see you
hang on. Okay. Two o six. I can't say Sam
Darnold without thinking about Beth Mullens. Gotta hope he plays
better than she sounds same.
Speaker 4 (01:09:46):
I love, I honestly love Beth Mullones.
Speaker 1 (01:09:47):
Call now it's great. I think what did you call her?
Speaker 7 (01:09:50):
Though? Beth?
Speaker 1 (01:09:51):
What Mullens? It's it's moments. Yeah, but but quite taken. Okay,
last one, last couple, Uh, let's see thanks for having
John London love the interview. Uh three to six, I
know you gotta run makes a new point. I know
you gotta run. Makes another point. I know you gotta run.
(01:10:11):
Ask questions. I love one though another one love that
one segment? Yeah, I love one too. Here's the problem.
This guy's been in the business for twenty five years, No,
at least twenty five years, and well he could when
he had to. Now he does John London Leash. He
doesn't have to break on to Wait, Jess wants him leashed. Yeah,
(01:10:34):
just as I need you leash and break on.
Speaker 2 (01:10:36):
Time makes people make me nervous.
Speaker 1 (01:10:38):
Okay, I'm telling you you guys follow him every time,
like I'll open up Instagram at eight o'clock at night.
John London Leash is going live.
Speaker 4 (01:10:45):
If for nothing else, you can look at the comments
when he says something nice about the Seahawks and see
forty nine ers fans for reap out.
Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
That's when he mentioned that I was text him last
and sex and I'm like, like, this is so good.
You're doing this just for just to get a rise
out of people. If you're a drink teer, this person,
please check it out. Yes, yes, all right, Keith Miller
final work. I was all in on Sam Darnold until
I reach Schneider's until I realized Schneider's pulling Jerry moves.
Having two guys the same first name playing the same position.
(01:11:14):
Let's hope the Sam's work out better than the Mitches.
Speaker 7 (01:11:19):
Give it all, right, Yeah, we'll see if.
Speaker 1 (01:11:39):
Softy and their softy and just make their way in
start of the segment here coming up in a second. Uh, tomorrow,
what have we got tomorrow? Tomorrow, tomorrow, Greg coach, Wait,
tomorrow tomorrow, Greg coach selle tomorrow talk but I think
we tease wide receivers with Craig.
Speaker 4 (01:11:57):
Yes, we did it.
Speaker 1 (01:11:58):
Yeah, so we'll talk about well, and that was when
we thought DK may get traded, not when we not
when he was trade. Look who's here, ladies and gentlemen,
what DK got traded?
Speaker 5 (01:12:09):
What?
Speaker 3 (01:12:09):
Huh?
Speaker 7 (01:12:09):
What? Huh huh huh?
Speaker 1 (01:12:10):
I got I got two things for you. One one
is this I want one? Okay, Well that's actually that's
going to come up in a second. Hand that's going
to come up in a second. First of all, I
love this text a moment ago. I can't ever think
about Sam Darnold without thinking about Beth Mullens. That's right,
Gons buf Mullens m U L L anyway. The other
(01:12:33):
one is this. You just love when you get to
play with that.
Speaker 5 (01:12:35):
I do.
Speaker 1 (01:12:36):
I really don't know how until I just learned recently.
Hey there's Jackson in there. What's up, Jackson? How are
we doing?
Speaker 3 (01:12:40):
Is he?
Speaker 1 (01:12:40):
Is he calm down yet? From from Geno on Fire? Yeah, no,
he's fine. Yeah, the sweat off the walls I got.
You know, you're a buddy Keith Miller on the text line,
Oh yeah, our good pal Keith. I've met him many times,
by the way, have you? Oh yeah, you never met Keith?
Never met Yeah, it looks like an out of work
shopping malls Anna Claus. Oh okay, yeah, that's kind of without
(01:13:03):
the beard. It's kind of Nick Allen looks like how
many Nick Callen? And this is all the time the
uh Keith says, I'm all in on Sam Darld until
I realized Schnyder's pulling Jerry moves having two guys with
the same first name playing the same position. Let's hope
that Sam's work out better than Mitches, which brings us
to this question. You can only have one the Sam's
with the Mitches, you can only have one Sam's. The mitches,
(01:13:24):
gimme the Sam's. Gimme the SAMs.
Speaker 6 (01:13:26):
You're taking the sam Mitches did nothing a year ago
and they're making like twenty five million combined. Isn't Hannager
already hurt with a bust at hand or something's got
the bust at hand?
Speaker 1 (01:13:36):
I thought there was something wrong with Hanniger too. If
there is, there will be Anders Anders Andrews Stolt watching soccer.
Speaker 4 (01:13:43):
I got a question from Talking Jack, the one person
I could talk to.
Speaker 1 (01:13:46):
Don't worry about that finished the show. He caught back
there now soccer? Okay, it's football? Actually yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:13:51):
The uh?
Speaker 1 (01:13:52):
Which which Mitch is hurts? Garver's hurt? Right? Garver's hurt?
I thought it was. You know, we sound like idiots.
Speaker 5 (01:13:59):
Right now.
Speaker 4 (01:13:59):
It's Mitch hand a little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:14:01):
He got hit in the hand.
Speaker 5 (01:14:02):
We were to do.
Speaker 6 (01:14:03):
This is a professional sports talk radio station, and we
can't even figure out which Mitch is the injured one.
Speaker 1 (01:14:10):
Let me ask you, Let me ask you the question,
Let me ask you the question based on the last
based on the last text, Let me ask you a questions.
Keep flipping the dial, nothing to see. He doesn't matter,
It doesn't matter which guy's hurt. Not really, but still
we should know. I'm definitely getting a text from Hugh.
(01:14:31):
How could you not know that, professionals, I think he's
listening right now? Are you kidding me?
Speaker 6 (01:14:42):
There's not one person on planet Earth that here's this
station more than he does, not one. He listens everywhere
he goes, in his car, at the dog park, in
the shower, in bed, everywhere he goes. You ever see
something about Mary the movie, Remember Warren with the headphones on.
Speaker 1 (01:14:59):
That's him. He still uses the same headphones.
Speaker 3 (01:15:02):
He's got a walk man with a radio one.
Speaker 1 (01:15:06):
And it's the sport walk man one. See you know
how he can find out if he's listening. That's that
say something that actually.
Speaker 13 (01:15:15):
I'm doing that.
Speaker 7 (01:15:16):
I'm not doing it. I'm not doing it.
Speaker 5 (01:15:19):
No.
Speaker 6 (01:15:22):
I know what buttons to push and what buttons not
to push, and I am definitely not pushing those.
Speaker 1 (01:15:26):
Well, you won't, you won't pay the price because you're
going home. I would be the one that's got to
deal with it, exactly. Do you think my phone won't ring?
Speaker 5 (01:15:33):
Like it?
Speaker 1 (01:15:34):
Three?
Speaker 6 (01:15:34):
You like the custodian for this radio station. I have
to clean up everybody's mess. Oh that's not right, that's
my that's my job.
Speaker 1 (01:15:43):
Really, Okay, So how many people does he call you
to bitch about Hugh?
Speaker 5 (01:15:47):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:15:48):
Well should I mention him on? It's got the entire station. Okay,
bitch about me all the time he calls me. He
doesn't complain about you. Yeah, well, he complains it about
you to me. He can plays about other people.
Speaker 5 (01:15:59):
I can tell you that. I can tell you that.
Speaker 1 (01:16:02):
What tells he for USh tohood his arm? That's nothing.
You know what, Now you're gonna get a call. I
get that all you call this David. You know I
never said that. I'd never say there's only two people
three people that can talk like that, my mother who's
in a nursing home, my wife, and my Jewish cousin Daved.
He said that David. I spent twenty seven minutes on
(01:16:23):
the phone with him today driving in and I like
twenty seven and I like talking. If he was twenty seven,
how much did you get to talk? Thirty seconds? Maybe
a minute I was gonna get three minutes.
Speaker 6 (01:16:33):
I'd say it's probably when he's thirty seventies eating himself
in the same phone conversation, Like from one day to
the next, you're gonna get caught.
Speaker 5 (01:16:41):
We're gonna get.
Speaker 1 (01:16:42):
Understandable, I guess.
Speaker 6 (01:16:44):
But when he starts off with a story and ends
it with a story, or in the middle of the
conversation tells the same story, I don't know, man, It's
like his batteries are running low and he just needs
to recharge.
Speaker 2 (01:16:55):
I might be guilty of doing the same thing.
Speaker 1 (01:16:58):
Yeah, the quartets, Kennedy never fell on you.
Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
Then when a football game, that's true, I don't have
that same Yeah, no, my.
Speaker 1 (01:17:03):
Story sid, Yeah, I'm definitely getting a call.
Speaker 2 (01:17:06):
Now we have three six says he listens he or
she listens more than you.
Speaker 1 (01:17:12):
We should do a contest prove that you listen to
most of KJR. It's called the No Life Contest, and
our first winner and I have No Life contest.
Speaker 2 (01:17:22):
Proved to us that you have real life.
Speaker 7 (01:17:24):
Right.
Speaker 6 (01:17:25):
It is Garb.
Speaker 1 (01:17:25):
It was texting. It's it is Garver. I told you no,
you said, Hannagher, Garver, you said what do you?
Speaker 7 (01:17:31):
Guys said?
Speaker 6 (01:17:32):
You said Hannah, And then I said, Garb, I agree
with you, was Garver. And then you asked the so
called Mariner expert back there, who's got no clue? Stove, Hey,
stove guy, he's not even listening. He's like, it's in
the middle of stove guy. It is Garver, It's Garb,
it is Garver.
Speaker 4 (01:17:46):
I'm sorry about you breaking on time. We're already late.
Speaker 1 (01:17:49):
Don't you doing a great.
Speaker 5 (01:17:50):
Job of that?
Speaker 1 (01:17:50):
Don't you host a podcast called stove.
Speaker 2 (01:17:53):
I did watching this great Champions League games?
Speaker 6 (01:17:55):
He's focused on podcast. She's given stupid butt Star Wars
takes on his movie podcast. Yes, by the way, just
a heads up, see what's on in there. Your your
producer will be distracted too. You'll be very distracted. Yeah,
you'll be You know, I'd rather have him watched that
though one he normally watches in there.
Speaker 1 (01:18:12):
Be honest with you, that's much better. What's more appropriate
for the workplace? Go through the history. I tell you
the Brian Wheeler story. Now, let's do this some other time.
What do you got coming up? Let's see what's today?
Speaker 14 (01:18:23):
Today is Tuesday, Tuesday, Wilders on today, Greg Bell is
going to join us today, Warren Moon's going to join
us today before Saint Mary's.
Speaker 1 (01:18:33):
And Gonzaga in the WS.
Speaker 6 (01:18:35):
He's he's the final tonight co Saint Mary's, although I
think Gonzaga is gonna win big that's my prediction. It's
my official Woodridge Hill prediction, and Zaga wins.
Speaker 1 (01:18:46):
Big bet the bulldogs. Baby, you're doing that, just to
do that.
Speaker 2 (01:18:49):
See for the mild mannered and marginally objectionably Inverness, this
is paddle day, saying so long everyone,
