Speaker 1 (00:00):
So yesterday we were able to somehow. I wouldn't even
say I tried it, just the schedule landed in my lap.
We let me clarify something. First of all, you have
no insight sources. No, no, I'm gonna clarify this. Oh,
because I heard the show after me. I had to
listen the first few minutes because I want to hear
what they said. And there's like a lot of bitterness

(00:20):
because I left the schedule out before the five o'clock
schedule show. I don't know if those two had noticed
it yet, but you know, the schedule had been completely
released for the Seahawks. Corbin had it, Hawk blogger had it,
a guy in his basement. Dot Com had its. British
guy that people think smart had it. All these guys

(00:41):
had it right, and our phones didn't work and I
lost every guest I had yesterday.

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Nice.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
So I'm taking you behind the curtain because I'm kind
of with Fane. I don't I'd rather just kind of
wait and see. I know it's one hundred percent, I
know it's accurate. I know it's and go through it
when it comes out and the team sends it out.
But frankly, I had nothing else. Everything else went to
hell and a ham basket. It is one of those
technical days that you know you're like looking around, going, okay,
so what do First of all, hard to do radio

(01:10):
show when you have guest scheduled on the phone and
your phones don't work. But of course we don't really
have phones. We have a cloud system, yes, dumb, and
it didn't work. Like, okay, well I might as well
just go down. So I'm with Fain, I am with Dick.
I kind of I would have actually not done it,
but as it turns out, we'll just go ahead and
pat ourselves in the back. There's not even a reason
to go through it against I did yesterday. Were one

(01:31):
hundred percent?

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Are we gonna do our run through the whole schedule
like MJ and I did this morning?

Speaker 1 (01:36):
The schedule roulette? Yeah, we did that yesterday. I eleven
and six.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
All right, that's what I had. That's what I had,
all right?

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Cool? I'm eleven and six almost every year I used
to be. I used to be a ten and six guy.
Every year I just have the seventeenth game. I'm an
eleven and six guy. I don't think I've ever strayed
from that even if I knew better, I'm always eleven
and six. Guy, I got them going eleven and six,
And I think there are but the one thing. And
we'll talk to Corbyn Smith at two o'clock today. This

(02:06):
is I mentioned this yesterday on the show. This is
only the third time since twenty twelve that they have
opened up with a divisional opponent to start the season.
A fourth time. I should say they're owen three in
the previous three meetings, Yeah, losing in Arizona twenty twelve,
losing at the Saint Louis Rams and twenty seventeen, and

(02:27):
losing at home to the Rams from Los Angeles a
couple of years ago twenty twenty three. So if they're
owen three and since twenty twelve in those games, and
those are pivotal, pivotal games, especially because I think if
you're the Seahawks, you would have much rather had seen
that game on the road, Yeah, and put the pressure

(02:48):
on than forty nine ers to get a win as
opposed to being at home, and instead you end up
this is the part of the schedule. We'll talk to
Corbin about this. I didn't really get into it too much,
but to go back to back road games to finish
off the seasons. To I, I don't know. I can't
imagine many teams to have to do that or have
had to do that. That just that's a that's a

(03:08):
rough goal of it. They do get back to back
games the previous two weeks at home Colts and Rams.
Rams is a Thursday night football game, so that gives
them an extra day before they go across the country
to go take on the Panthers and Charlotte.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
But that's a must win game for me.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Yeah, I mean, well, if you want to make the playoffs,
I would agree, Andrews.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
But we won't.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
We won't know that till then. Yeah, it's true we
might get to that point. It might not be any
kind of game, right, It might not matter. They might
have already clinched something one way or the other. But yeah,
I mean there's yeah, if you want to look that's
a good way to look at it. Games you can't.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Kick, Yeah, that's one of them.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
I'm gonna say, Saints absolutely, Jags absolutely, Texans at home, yes, Titans, Vikings, ye,
because that's a home games.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Falcons Colts, see, I think they lose at Atlanta. Why
I don't know, like Michael Pennix.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Okay, I mean I do too. I've voted for him
for the Heisman twice.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
That's on the road. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
No, Okay, not losing to an edit. The NFC South
is awful. Like I could make an argument. You can
make the argument Tampa. Sure, but that's here.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
That's here.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
You should you should wipe the table with the NFC South.
You should do that. And frankly you should probably do
the same thing with the AFC South because that's your
other opponent along the way. Like, you have a really
nice schedule. I mean, here's the thing. We wait for
the schedule. We know if the opponents are. But now
you kind of see it stacked it. It's always makes
more sense. Yeah, but yeah, the two souths. If you

(04:44):
don't go, what is there eight games seven at least
seven and one. In those games, you got problems. But
if you do go seven to one, which you should do,
then that opens things up for a pretty good year
because you start adding it up. Ten may or may
not get you in some years it does, some years
it doesn't. Eleven will get you into the playoffs. So

(05:05):
if you could bank seven or eight, just like that.
Pretty good shape. You're in pretty good shape to start
to start the season, at least for.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
A wild card.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
I mean, you want to win the division. It'd be
nice to, I don't know, play a home game here
at Lumen and make it actually a home playoff game.
It's been forever since we've had one.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
A row eighteen, right, and for people who's seventeen, because no,
I wasn't boys, listen, I was there.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
I covered it, and I was there with like one
hundred people, so and they were all looking like me
in the media. In fact, we were up in the
sweet level doing our pre and post game stuff in
an empty two hundred level club level. That was not
a home game, Yeah, that was. They didn't play a
home game that year. They also didn't play a road
game that year. True, So it was just an odd,
odd year all the way around. Okay, Ino Sarahs from

(05:48):
the Athletic All Things Baseball, our team, the Mariners, they
were red hot Anders. Now they're not.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Ah, I made a rhyme, Oh God, thank you.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Did you hear me make the rhyme?

Speaker 2 (06:00):
I did?

Speaker 1 (06:01):
I did. What would happen?

Speaker 3 (06:03):
Now?

Speaker 1 (06:03):
I just thought of this, Oh God, late, what would happen.
If you combine Dick Faine and Mark James.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
They would just be a lebron.

Speaker 1 (06:11):
Do I think they're gonna win?

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Yes? I do? Well?

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Do I want to go to the ram?

Speaker 2 (06:15):
I love those lebron the goat?

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Is he the goat? He's not? I think?

Speaker 4 (06:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (06:20):
If you morph those two together, there'd be a lot
of highs and lows. I love you Dick, Yeah, you too,
m j. All right, we'll take a break. Come back,
Eno Serrus next.

Speaker 5 (06:32):

Back in the R and R Foundation Specialist Broadcast Studios.
The infneced with you today. We got to our friend
Cropersmith's going to join us a two o'clock today. We'll
go through the Seahawks schedule. Now that we know actually
where the games when, where the games will be played.
We knew who the opponents were and if they were
playing Homer away, but now it's a win. Yeah, we'll
go through that with him coming up at two o'clock

(07:16):
this afternoon, but m's are off today. Good time to
sit back and reset. After a beautiful one in five
home stand.

Speaker 6 (07:23):
With our guy, Eno Seras, It's time for our weekly
visit with Eno Serra's the Athletic. The best baseball insight
you'll get from a nerd with big league hair. He
likes pigs of grips, food and beer well, always dreaming
up the next big baseball stat Brought to you by
Georgetown Brewing Tabreu open seven days a week from ten

(07:44):

by Pa and the new domestic style Lagger Tavern Beer
your place to go for local tastey craft beer. Now
with Ian Here's Eno.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
Shouldn't mention our friends at Georgetown Brewing which bring you,
you know, Sarah's every Thursday at this time. Have the
Bob's Brown Ale on tap right now and remember every
cent of that pint or growler that you purchased at
the tap room down there. And Georgetown goes to the
Ronald McDonald House Charities in the memory of Bob Hirsh
who died a few years ago. He was staying at

(08:18):
the Ronald McDonald House barely twenty one, but in did
enjoy his beers. Manny was his counselor, and they've been
doing this for a while. That's where I first met
the guys at Georgetown, hosting an event for the Bob's
Brown Ale tapping. It is a great beer and an
even better cause. So pick a growler up or get
a pint at Georgetown Brewing. You know, Sarah's from the
athletic joints us. Right now, I've been gone, like the

(08:40):
weird scheduling last two thursdays, I've left you, left you
hanging there, you know, so I appreciate you coming on
with me today. I'm sure Greg Bell and others treated
you well.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
I guess football is doing some stuff.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
What was it?

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Oh we have we had well, I was, I got
a knee issue done, and then I had oh, you
know it's you get old. Things happen, and then and
then yeah, I guess we had a draft mixed in
there maybe, and then Greg Bell was on last week
filling in for me. Oh, I had a cracking deal
I had to do last week.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
Yeh.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
So I've been gone, but good to catch up with you.
And you're based in San Diego, right, I mean actually okay, okay,
I thought for some reason, I thought, San Diego, that's fine, okay,
pal good, no no worries. Let me the last two
things you wrote. I was kind of encouraged by ten
early season MLB numbers it could caught because for alarm, really,

(09:32):
I didn't see Seattle listed any of theirs in there,
and then uh, you know five by low MLB hitters
who are having worse years, and expected didn't find any
Mariners in there either. That's that's a good thing.

Speaker 7 (09:42):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
The bad news is they're coming off a one in
five home stand. Uh and it wasn't too pretty along
the way. What do you make of our baseball team
that's fighting through a ton of injuries right now?

Speaker 4 (09:53):
Yeah, I see it. Especially on the pitching end. You're
going to need George Kirby and Logan overt to come
back to to make that starting rotation into the strength
it's always been. And I like Logan Evans. I'd like
a slider in particular. I think that is a major
league pitch, and I think he can eventually put together

(10:14):
basically a constellation of pitches around that pitch.

Speaker 7 (10:17):
Sorry to see.

Speaker 4 (10:19):
Bryce has an elbow injury too, so you know, there
was this thing where it was like everyone's like, oh,
the Mariners they keep their their guys healthy, and it's like,
I mean not through youre. I just think that nobody
keeps their guys.

Speaker 8 (10:32):
You know.

Speaker 4 (10:34):
Yeah, it's just the part of the game.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Now, it was bound to happen. I mean, they were
relatively healthy last season, right Andrews relatively Ye.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
Made almost every start with their five guys.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Yeah, with you know a couple Yeah, I think WU
had a couple of little dings along the way and
that was about it. But yeah, they that just doesn't happen.
And now all of a sudden, you see it trickling in.
You see it in the line a thin line up anyway.
And is this where the frustration America fans can be validated, saying, hey,
you did nothing to improve the offense in the offseason.
Polanco's having this great year, which is a nice bounce back,

(11:06):
but really, you didn't do anything to improve your offense
and you're relying on your pitcher staying healthy. Again, this
is sometimes what you get.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
Yeah, you know, money buys depth, you know, you know.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
I think of it.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
It's funny to think now because we just saw.

Speaker 7 (11:23):
The Mayhew.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
This is the end of the end of his career.
But when they first signed ether Meyu in New York,
they didn't have a position for him. They signed and
I think they had Rizzo, they had like a whole infield,
and they still signed him anyway, and that and it
ended up being smart for the beginning of that deal
because he ended up, you know, being their starter at

(11:44):
some position they didn't expect when they got hurt. You
know that old deal.

Speaker 7 (11:47):
The money buys you dept.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
And in the absence of spending that money to buy
you dept, what you need is player development. And people
think of player development often as producing stars, but that's
not the only thing to play development is important for
play development is important for taking the way I think
of it as taking a player. They have this twenty
to eighty grading skill for scouting terms, you know, getting

(12:11):
a half grade out of a guy. So if you
have a player who's a forty grade player, that means
they're a bench player. If you could make them a
forty five, that means they're basically like a league average player.
You know, you've just made them into kind of something
just a little bit better. And that's where you know
This is when you get pressure on on your player

(12:33):
development is to say, oh, okay, we lost some guys.
What's Logan Evan's going to do? You know what I mean, like,
what what are these call ups going to do in
the lineup? And and you know Master Boni, Uh, these
are competent Major leaguers and they did go get Master Bony,
so they they wanted him for depth. You know, Williamson

(12:54):
has been playing pretty good?

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Is it?

Speaker 4 (12:57):
Is it good enough?

Speaker 7 (12:58):
You know?

Speaker 4 (12:58):
That's that's what we're finding out right.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Well, and that's again, I think that's the frustration. I
think it's a great way to put it because what
you said there is what resonates here for our market
and this long suffering fan base is that you know, hey,
like you don't have to go out and spend a
zillion dollars to get a superstar, but you do have
to spend some money, I think is what you're telling
me to make sure that the rest of your lineup

(13:20):
isn't just you know, Julio cal And Polanco or a
Rose Araina having a you know, an outlier season or
stretch or something like that, is what you're telling us.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
Yeah, yeah, I mean that the bottom lineup on teams
that aren't going to spend with the Yankees is made
up of internal guys.

Speaker 7 (13:39):
And I mean there are.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
Reasons to get excited about players they have in the
minor leagues. We've we've expressed on this show here, you know,
some surprise that you know, maybe they don't move those
timelines along. But you know that's the other the part
of player development that's maybe more art than science is
when to call a guy up. And you know, sometimes
you know they just know he's not ready, and that

(14:04):
you know, know months or two they'll know he's ready.
You know, like there's there's an art to that you
can call a guy up too early and shatter his
confidence and and have and turn it into a much
longer process.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
It was about three you know, organizations ago in terms
of the front office with baseball players. But when you
say that, I think of like Jeff Clement, you know,
who was a high draft pick and was rushed to
the major leagues and just you know, Actlee maybe falls
into that category as well, all Jared Kellnick maybe yeah,
I would fall into that. And yeah, there are there
are some examples along whine other guys can handle like
Julio and stuff. You know, Sarahs joining us from the

(14:35):
Athletic the Athletic dot com. I want to look around
the rest of league for a second. Aaron Judge, we
just saw him yesterday. He wins a game with a
home run in the seventh. He's me. You're a numbers guy,
and not as much a traditional numbers guy, but there
is a traditional thing called the triple Crown. How big
a deal would that be if he could still win
that or somebody had won that.

Speaker 4 (14:58):
I mean, I remember where there was a big vote
where Mike Trout had the most wins above replacement, and
you know, a number sums up all of your you know,
your defense, your base running, everything, and Miguel Cabrera had
the triple Crown, and Miguel Cabrera won the m v
P that year. You know, these are numbers that are

(15:20):
sacred over the history of baseball. Wins above replacement, as
good as it is, has some clause like, for example,
it's not you know, defensive numbers are behind everything else.
So if you add the defensive numbers in, you're automatically
sort of adding something that's not as good. Now, I
don't think RBI is that great of a measurement have
a lot to do with who's on base, what your
team is doing, more.

Speaker 7 (15:41):
Than what you're doing. There's a lot of things in
RB I don't.

Speaker 4 (15:43):
Like, but it is a sacred number that we've tracked
for longer than almost any other number. And you don't
win the Triple Crown and you're bad.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
This is why we have you know on right here,
ladies and gentlemen. You can't get this inside anyplace else
in this market. I'm telling you right now. You don't
win the Triple Crown because you're bad. That's why we
have this guy on. I love it well.

Speaker 4 (16:13):
I mean you can get like you can get to
twenty RBI and be that great player, just be you know,
adding forth for a.

Speaker 7 (16:20):
Team that always has guys on. But sure, yeah, the
Triple Crown, it's you.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
It's excellent in every sort of facet of the game.
And he's he's amazing too, because he's such a big
guy that the fact that he manages to cover all
of that zone has been pretty impressive. And he's been
tweaking his stance a little bit. He's he's become more
closed over time, and I think that's to better cover
the outer half because if you you saw the Mariner's

(16:46):
book on him, it's the same as most of the
people's book on him. Maybe it's not working, but you
you every once in a while throw something high and tight,
and then the rest of the time you throw slop,
you know, lo and away, and you hope that you
hope that you enticed it out of him, because he
can swing and miss, but he's got long levers. So
even though he has a big zone, he got those

(17:06):
long arms and he's closed up a little bit and
that's allowed him to stay closed longer in the front
shoulder and allowed him to do something with those outside pitches.
So right now he feels unstoppable. I did see something
from that game from Julio that really made.

Speaker 7 (17:21):
Me happy though, that RBI double Yep. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
Speaking of books, the book on Julio right now is
throw him sort of thigh away, especially a fastball thigh away,
and he's been missing on that. And the Yankees came
in and tried to pick at that zone over and
over again, and I think part of why he's trying
to miss, he's been missing on that has maybe he
hasn't had guys on he's trying to hit a solo homer.

Speaker 7 (17:49):
Maybe he's trying to do too much.

Speaker 4 (17:51):
Maybe he's putting, you know, a team on his shoulders
in that since instance, he had he had guys on
and I think he was like, hey, I just need
to put this in play, and instead of trying to
pull that ball in the air, he went the other
way with it and got that RBI double. And it
seems silly to say something like this, but that something
as small as that can actually lead to a really

(18:14):
hot streak. And we've seen that from Julio because he
has to put together that oh I'm going to put
this ball in play out there, and I'm going to
pull this ball, you know, for power here. And when
he puts those together, he can look as ensemble as
a Dutch. It's just that for Julio, it's you know,
two or three months where he looks like that, and
then you know a month or two where Frankly doesn't

(18:35):
look as.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Good, you know, and you know, Sarah joinings in the
athletic I think it's a good place, by the way.
All just a fair warning as we do this throughout
the season is probably we'll talk about Julio almost every
every week because you know, and my producer today Andrews,
he does a postgame thing on the Lockdown Network and
a big baseball guy, and we do a weekly thing
with some other guys we call mollywat Mondays. And I

(18:56):
feel like we're kind of the defenders of Julio Rodriguez
at times, you know, I mean, I think the guys
I don't know, we throw around words like superstar a lot.
Maybe he's not there yet, that's fine, but boy, what
a good young player. A guy plays with passion. We
always hear from you know, we have a coach on
all the time and he acta tells us that this
guy has a work ethic that's like second to none.
You know, you're talking about something that's called what basically,

(19:17):
his approach the plate is changing, Maybe it's maturing. Maybe
Kevin cites her influence here or Kevin and Edgar Martinez.
So you're what you're seeing from Julio is encouraging.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
And definitely that it was just one play and one swing,
but that is what I bet you know, many people
have been yelling at the screen for him to do.
And I think that you know, his capacity, his athletic talents,
his bat speed. You know, he thinks he thinks he
can hit most of these pictures, even the pitches he's missing,
he thinks he can hit them out, and frankly he can,

(19:51):
but not always. And so you know, I think there
just needs to be a realization that sometimes taking the single,
you know, is is the way for him to kind
of move the lineup along, and that he doesn't need
to hit the homer every time. So I just thought
that was a really good at bat for him. Yeah,
and and Louise was, Uh, Louise is throwing hard too.

(20:12):
I think the w didn't come, but Louis looks pretty good.
There's a there's a magic number for sliders. It's eighty
five miles an hour. And Luis Castillo's slider used to
be above eighty five, and then this year it was
eighty four, and then over the like the last couple
of starts is down.

Speaker 7 (20:31):
To eighty three. You know, almost every slider.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
That's above eighty five is is good. Villo matters as
much for sliders as it does for aspals. In that game,
he had his best slider velocity of the of the year,
and he was tugging it a little bit. But I
think he's he's about to go on a stretch. You know.
Castill does the same thing where he's cold a little
bit in the first month. Uh, and he and he

(20:56):
gains that velo and he gets better over the course
of the season.

Speaker 1 (20:59):
That's az. So eighty five, like like one or two
miles per hour on a slider makes that much difference.

Speaker 4 (21:06):
Yeah, the slugging percentage on sliders above eighty five is
one hundred and fifty points lower than sliders below eighty five. Wow.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
Wow, I mean that Mike's also explain why Andress Munos
is so damn dominant, right, Yeah, Like his slider, what
does the slider clock in at like two? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, that's.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
Like and one of the first people that sort of
showed it to us was the grom with that ninety
three mile on hour slider.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
So oh brutal. What are we going to see with
the San Diego Padres When the Mariners traveled down for
the Eddie Vedder Cup coming up this weekend, A team
that's twenty seven and fifteen and you know, should be
in probably even first place, a lot of a lot
of divisions. They just happened to play in the NL
West right now.

Speaker 4 (21:46):
Yeah, the Padres have taken something that sites are and
Edgar talk about the opposite field ground ball. Uh, they've
taken that to the extreme. They hit the most opposite
field ground balls in the big league. They also have
the lowest strikeout rate in the big leagues. So there's
something that they're doing there. They're they're really focusing on
contact and so, you know, I don't know if it's

(22:07):
something that the Mariners can use against them. They do
chase a little bit, but they are now combining it
with Tatissas is showing his power again, Machado is showing
his power so and Meryll is back. So it's a
really fearsome lineup because they've got the Ariahs. They've got
you know, Meryll can put the ball in play. They've
got all these guys that can put the ball in play,

(22:27):
and they also have power.

Speaker 7 (22:29):
They've got a great bullpen.

Speaker 4 (22:30):
So one of the things that Mariners really need to
do is attack that starter, get some runs on the board,
and don't fall behind and find a way to limit
you know, one thing you can do with singles teams
is you know, okay, allow a single, get the next out.
You know, don't allow like three or four singles in
a row, and in today's baseball, four singles in a
row is a lot to ask, actually, so don't don't

(22:53):
get too frustrated when you allow singles. Just get the next.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
Step, Chicago White Sox after that. So it's kind of
a tale of the first two teams on this trip, right,
one of the worst teams in baseball, and then one
of the better teams in baseball for the MS as
they hit the road there, and then a big one
that we'll talk next week with you about that with
the Houston Astros afterwards. In the meantime, Rates and Barrels
is a podcast that Ino Sarahs does. You can go
check that out wherever you get your podcast. I believe

(23:16):
it's on the iHeart app as well, so check that out.
And of course you got a Q and A coming
up this this Friday, is that right.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
I'm not gonna do it this week. I got to
teach a classroom third graders for a little bit, So
do some baseball and some fantasy baseball and hopefully I
survive and I'll tell you a little bit about it.
Also on Rays and Barrels, just today we did an
extended segment about Brian Wu with Trevor May who's based

(23:46):
up in Seattle, and we were talking about just how
excellent his fastballs are and what we think will be
the development of his arsenal and and you know, it's
really interesting how dominant he is because he he throws
like seventy percent fastballs and that's just not how most
of the league works. And we're just wondering, you know,

(24:07):
how the breaking ball is going to progress. Is he
going to become a wider arsenal guy or the fastball
is good enough to do that. So we did a
whole segment on that, and I find Brian Wu fast.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
I'm going to listen that. I want to listen next.
I just had a conversation actually with Ryan Roland Smith
on their broadcast about two months ago. We were crossing
paths at the we share a studio, the hockey team
shares a studio with the baseball team, and we're having
a conversation about that, and he was kind of talking
about like a little maybe a little concern too, like
that's all he does, Like you said, seventy percent feels
like his ninety five percent fastball. But I'll definitely take
a listen to that along the way and we will

(24:38):
check in with you next Thursday. My friend, thank you,
all right, thanks for having me, you know serious. I
can't wait to talk about third grade too. Good good luck
in that one. That'll be a hell of about him.
My daughter's a fifth grade teacher. That's okay, wait talking
you know about that?

Speaker 3 (24:50):
All right?

Speaker 1 (24:51):
Good stuff with you know serious. We got a daily
power play we'll get to in just a second out
Can we skip that segment? Oh no, we're going to
get to that segment today and we'll talk about what
the Oilers of Edmonton day. Lots of rumors out there,
coaching wise, all that's a lot of going on in
the National Hockey League. We'll touch in on that. We've
got Corbyn Smith at the top of the hour. Four

that costs you a dollar or two maybe, I don't know.

do a fairly quick daily power Place. I want to
hit one other thing before we get to the break
top of the hour, something I'm really really really concerned about.
We'll get to that in a second. Last what do
you want to start? Do you want to start coach

(26:40):
coaches or do you want to start with what happened
and what we're at and play let's.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
Get let's get the Oilers thing out of the way first.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
Well, the Oilers are going to the conference finals for
the second consecutive year. Three times in the last four
years have been the conference finals. That's really good. That
means they're good at hockey. Now, the problem is they
have yet to get over the hump and win a
state only Cup, bring one back to Canada. But they
knocked out the Vegas Golden Ice. You know what's funny, Andrews,
You're one of the very few people out there that's

(27:08):
thrilled that that, or that's upset that Edmonton's in. Most
people are on the league hate Vegas. I think Vegas too.
They think Vegas skirts the rules. Maybe i'll use the
term cheating. I think what they do is they make
the world the rules work for them. Like they do
a great job of that. Kelly mccriminal g like, if
you can do it, and it's.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
The Dodgers, it feels greasy up what the Dodgers are doing.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
Except for the Dodgers don't operate with a salary cap, right,
these guys skirt the salary cap by stashing guys on
long term into reserve. But good for them. Vegas has
been really successful. Uh and they've kind of set the standard.
But Vegas, but here goes. Edmonton in the conference finals
will take on more than likely Dallas. They lead three
games to one over the Winnipeg Jets in that series.

(27:55):
Last night Toronto just got absolutely annihilated. I mean, just
killed six to one at home in a clinching scenario,
which is the worst possible thing. Tonight, two games Caine's Capital,
seven o'clock, four o'clock, I used to say, our time,
and Game five of Winnipeg and Dallas. Winnipeg trying to
stay it alive with a win at home. Maybe the
so called best goaltender in the league could look like

(28:17):
the best golten in the league. That be Connor Hellibuck
against Dallas. But doubtful. We're probably looking at the Dallas
Edmonton Western Conference Final and we'll see what happens there. Okay,
coaching search talk it officially a Philadelphia Flyer coach Adam Foote,
officially the coach of the Vancouver Canucks that league Seattle
still looking for a coach.

Speaker 2 (28:33):
Surprises me to talk it a little bit. I thought
he was going to end up here.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
I'm gonna guess the poll of going back to where
he was a legend as a player, that's fair came
into play. And I'm not so sure Seattle doesn't have
another guy in mine, Mitch Love. So keep that Caps
lose tonight. It might get interesting quick in Seattle. So
we'll see. It's Frost coaching. All right, that's it. That's
it for the Daily Power.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
All right.

Speaker 1 (28:54):
I won't let you suffer through anything else. God, all right,
we're done with that. We move on. So my concern,
the biggest concern I have, is going to take place
tonight five thirty Pacific times, six thirty Mountain time in Denver, Colorado,
the Mile High City. And I really don't like cheering

(29:15):
for anything having to do with Denver. It just kind of,
you know, like you were just saying, like you don't
like Vegas, Okay, like a lot of people don't, but
you hate Edmonton, Moore. If you're a Sonics fan, the
Nuggets are not your friend. They just aren't. I know,
it was a long long time ago. I mean thirty

(29:37):
one years ago. I get that, but ninety four sucked.
But we are all Nuggets today. We are all Nuggets today.
And then if they can't get it done, then we
just move on. We are fans of anybody besides the
team called the Oklahoma City Thunder, and they can clinch
their series with the Nuggets tonight. Jokers averaging thirty two

(30:01):
points or thirty points a game, I should say, in
the playoffs coming off a forty four point effort. Yeah,
but Sga, he's averaging a mere thirty two points per
game in the playoffs. Thunder probably deeper.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
Team.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
Joker's got that championship lineage him and Murray Gordon. What
have you? Oh, Denver, please Kevin Shockey and company. So
I was gonna say, gotta get If not, we all
blame Shocky.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
We do easy.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
I'm gonna give out his personal email on the air
and have you guys all email him and yell at
him for the lost Nuggets not getting things done. But
that's the that's my concern. Tonight, I'll be watching hockey
and I'll be watching basketball. I will be double screen again.
Let's go double screen again, sir. I knew I'd make
you proud. I'm going double screen again. Well, no, Marin

(30:51):
games Night makes it easy.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
Triple screen.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
I just can't handle it, man, I I.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
This is.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
I remember I did a whole show on it about
two weeks ago or a week ago. Yeah, and I was.
I was a lot more emotionally. Okay with everything, the
deeper it gets, it's becoming reality, it becomes harder and
more stressful. Yes, please Denver, do us a favorite tonight.
Put them out of their misery. Please just put them
out of their misery. And I swear if I watch
one time tonight, I think it's on the ESPN. H

(31:19):
If I watch one time tonight and I see, you know,
last championship in seventy nine, I'm gonna lose my mind and.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
The thunder will have a first time to.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
Win a championship. Yeah, I don't even know. I don't
even know if the city of Oklahoma City existed in
seventy nine. All right, we're good, Corbyn Smith. We'll talk
to you about depth a corner too. Oh. I like
that they're bringing all kinds of guys in some veteran corners.
Will talk to me about that. But yeah, obviously the schedule.

I'm good?

Speaker 8 (34:21):
And then we're just now getting started squeezing in on
you wait till the next couple moves.

Speaker 1 (34:26):
Yeah, oh hey, now, oh now, okay, okay, hey, let
me let me before I get to schedule and how
it shakes out and your takeaways and the breakdown of
the schedule and all that stuff. And you know, we
kind of did a little bit yesterday, but we'll kind
of go deep here with you. Before we do that,
let's talk about the corner cor ner corner back position.

(34:46):
We know Shaquille Griffin came in for a visit. They
bring another guy's in now as well. What's going on there?

Speaker 8 (34:52):
Yeah, it is clearly evident that the Seahawks are looking
to upgrade that cornerback room, but at least from a
death perspective, and it makes sense because Trey Brown left
free agency already Burns left in free agency as well,
and then they didn't use any of their eleven draft
picks at the position, which that was maybe the biggest
surprise for me coming out of that draft, is that

(35:13):
they didn't add a corner given the losses that they
had there and so the fact that they are bringing
in Razul Douglass a couple of days ago, a guy
that has had a lot of interceptions in his career,
has fourteen picks from twenty twenty one till twenty twenty three,
didn't have any last year, but he's been one of
the better ball hooking corners out there. He's also a

(35:35):
bigger corner that has tackled fairly well. He does a
lot of things I think Mike McDonald's looking for at
the position. At minimum, it gives you a really good
competition to push Josh job so that he's not content
just keeping his starting job. I think the Seahawks want
to have somebody that can push him on the outside
and push Riek Wollen a little bit too, to make
sure that they can get their best season out of

(35:56):
him with him heading towards free agency next year.

Speaker 1 (36:00):
And what do you think the best scenario is like
if they were if they were the to write it
down right now and say, this is what our this
is what our defense in terms of the back seven
is going to look like on first down, second down,
and third and long.

Speaker 8 (36:18):
Well, when they're in their nickel sets, think you've got
to you still got to stick with Ernest.

Speaker 3 (36:22):
Jones being in the middle.

Speaker 8 (36:23):
But I think that's where nick Em and Warie changes
things for you because you could put him in the
box on your third down packages and you could have
him up there like a linebacker. So you have those
two at that spot. Tyree's Knight's going to be in
there with Jones on earlier downs, but you can make
the switch to put Em and Wari there, so you
have those two, and then at the corner positions, Job

(36:46):
and Woolen on the outside, Devin Witherspoon in the slot.
They can do some mixing and matching there. If they
want to have Em and Wari play big slot, he
can do that. He's got that kind of positional versatility
and then a lot is he to keep Julian Love
and Kobe Bryant and you're starting safeties and those two
were fantastic in the last eight games or so together

(37:07):
last season, So you don't want to go into this
year just handing a starting job to Nick Ammon Wai,
especially with the way that Kobe Bryant played going into
the last year's rookie deal. But to me, that is
the ideal setup for him with those seven players where
they can do the mixing and matching at the linebacker
and slot spot, but you have a lot of positional
flexibility where you can mix guys in and out of

(37:29):
the lineup and sub packages, and that's gonna give Mike
mcdonnd a lot of creativity.

Speaker 1 (37:33):
Yeah, I agree, corn Smith joining a civil see spectrum
locked on Seahawks. The one of the things I'm I'm
curious to see is exactly how they use him and
Warrey and what he does. Is he big nickel? Do
they try to keep Witherspoon outside? Are they going to
try to? I mean, he was so effective in the slot,
but you don't have that same effectiveness if it's you know,
Joebn Woolean. It feels like Joe, you know, Woolen maybe

(37:55):
and Witherspoon outside and maybe Eman. Worry if playing a
bigger nickel and slot might be better. I don't know.
I mean, I think what you said is key. There
is versatility there, and I think that's what Mike McDonald's
all about.

Speaker 8 (38:07):
Yeah, it really gives the mastermind and opportunity to really
play mad scientists, especially now that he's got that six'
three two d and twenty.

Speaker 3 (38:17):
Pound so it's army knife that Emin wari is going
to provide.

Speaker 8 (38:20):
For this defense with, athleticism his ability to play in the,
box both safety, spots big. Nickel, heck he could probably
play outside corner if they wanted to really try. That
he did it earlier in his football. Career he played
linebacker in high. SCHOOL i, mean it's just it is
the Ultimate frankenstein project For mike. McDonald and it's obvious

(38:41):
why he had a first round grade For, seattle in
the fact they had to trade up to go get
him when he was still there early on day.

Speaker 1 (38:46):
Two all, right let's get to. It let's talk. Schedule
it Is Corbyn smith joining us here in The Beacon plumbing.
Hotline corbin the, uh the schedule comes out BEFORE i
get to the schedule. ITSELF i mentioned this. YESTERDAY i,
MEAN i hope get you, know a little anxious because
it gets leaked, out and you, know THE tv shows
at five o'clock are supposed to be all about the.

(39:07):
Schedule by the time those come on a, lot almost
everything's already been leaked out along the. Way i'm of
the mind that if THE nfl really didn't want it leaked,
out it wouldn't get leaked.

Speaker 3 (39:16):
Out but it.

Speaker 1 (39:17):
Does why do you think that is it that they
want that they're okay with.

Speaker 8 (39:20):
THAT i think in the end it ends up playing
into getting more people watching their. Content they can say
whatever they want to, say but if you drum up
THE i mean they do announcements for the announcement during the. Draft,
yeah that just tells you how much bigger THE nfl
is than every other pro. Sport and they have the

(39:40):
ability where they, can you, know throw a few of
these games out there or tell teams, like, hey you're
allowed to leak a few of, this and then it
lets reporters like myself be able to try to play
that puzzle match, game Which i'm gonna be, HONEST i
love doing it every. YEAR i know there's some fans,
like and there's some, reporters some football people like why

(40:02):
is this? Fun, well cause it's it's really fun AND
i get to see how the schedule is going to shake,
out and of Course i'm going to be doing.

Speaker 3 (40:09):
This super slew. THING i think it's really.

Speaker 8 (40:11):
Fun BUT i think it sets up to THE nfl
when a lot of information is already out, there fans
want to hear what experts had to say on, that
so whether they're listening TO nfl network on that, regard
we got really good reviews on our show that we
did last night on our podcast lot On.

Speaker 3 (40:28):
Seahawks you, know people are excited when they're, like, well
they already know what the schedule.

Speaker 8 (40:32):
Is going to. Be now they can really break it.
Down AND i think it ends up being a win for.

Speaker 1 (40:36):
Everybody, YEAH i, agree AND i think you, know, listen
it's it's an amazing, phenomenon isn't. It that the announcement
of the announcement of the schedule On Draft, day when
we had you, know the two ladies jump up there
in the cringe worthy moment that that, was that's that's
like a big. Deal and here he comes. In but
then we know The International, games we know the first
game of the like all these little leaks that come
out or these like you know on things that come. Out,

(40:58):
beforehand we knew who the scene they were gonna. Play
we knew who they're gonna play home in a, way
The South, divisions all that fun. Stuff but now we've
seen it up close and. Personal i'll give you MY
i don't want. TO i don't gotta call a, takeaway
but the first thing that jumped out at me is
is just captain. Obvious it's the very first. Game it'll
be the third time since two thousand fourth, Times i'm,

(41:19):
sorry since twenty twelve they've opened with a divisional, opponent
second time they've done so at. Home they're one to
three in the previous, ones losses To, Arizona Saint louis
and Then La So arizona and The rams. Twice San
Francisco week one at. Home that's a pivotal game to
get things. Going.

Speaker 8 (41:37):
Corman, yeah and it's a really interesting one to look
at from the dynamic that. One San francisco should be
a lot healthier in week. One they're hoping to have
both brand AND i You christian McCaffrey back in the.
Lineup but From seattle's, PERSPECTIVE i think getting a early
game Against San francisco could actually maybe be a little

(41:59):
bit of a blessing because they have a lot of
players that they lost this offseason and they're going to
be rotating a lot of, youngsters and especially on the
defensive side of the. Ball it might be a team
where trying to fill those gaps is going to take
a little bit of. Time that might be an ideal
situation to get them with all those young players week
one At, lumenfield hoping that their new stance with their

(42:21):
season ticket holders maybe can prevent the forty nine ers
from Ambushing week one and having a bunch of fans
in the.

Speaker 1 (42:27):
Stadium, okay we'll take a side step to that for a.
Second we'll get away from the schedule for a. Second
you brought that. UP i know it's been brought up.
Before it was it came out last. WEEK i REMEMBER
i Heard softy And dick talking about it last. Week
because they're all season ticket holders and the threats of you,
know losing your, tickets it kind of very Augusta National,
masters like if you give away your, passes you're in

(42:48):
trouble type of, thing and they were bringing it up
last week and then it's you, know the story has
kind of gotten out and got a lot more play
over the last few. Days you why do you think
they're doing? That and what do you think the results
going to? Be more less visiting. Fans, YEAH i mean
you look at what happened last, year last two, years
last two. Years The pittsburgh game two years ago is the.

(43:10):
Worst the build game last year.

Speaker 3 (43:15):
The worst THAT i have ever.

Speaker 8 (43:16):
Seen and Even Geno, smith unprompted after the, game was
talking about just how much their crowd impacted the game
and that was just unheard of At. Lumenfield and you,
know you have limited mechanisms as a sports franchise TO i,
mean you can't force a season ticket holder to, not you,
know sell their. Tickets but there is the ability now

(43:38):
they have set the stage where, hey we're gonna be
evaluating this after every, season and we have the ability
to track.

Speaker 3 (43:46):
This so we're gonna look, at you, know if you're
not taking advantage.

Speaker 8 (43:49):
Of the season, tickets maybe we could find a way
to find somebody that is going to take advantage of.
That SO i don't know that there's anything better that
they could have done than, this and if they're able
to execute, IT i do think that you're gonna see
some positive results in terms of having the season ticket
holders being, there or at minimum they're going to be
selling To seahawks fans to make sure you have as

(44:10):
many twelves as possible out.

Speaker 1 (44:11):
There All, right what's your biggest thing that jumped out
at you for the?

Speaker 10 (44:16):
Schedule, LOOK i don't want to sound LIKE i am
making it sound like this is an easy schedule or
there's a bunch of easy, opponents but, look if you look.

Speaker 8 (44:28):
At the last couple of, years LIKE i think it
was twenty twenty, three they had a four game stretch
with The, eagles two games of the forty nine ers
in the game against The, cowboys and three of those
games were in prime and. Time that was an absolute.
Gauntlet last year they had a couple stretches and weren't
quite that, bad but they've played several really good teams

(44:48):
in short. ORDER i don't see a stretch like that
on this. Schedule it feels like even when they have
a few tough, opponents, Heck week seven And week, NINE
i think That texans and The commanders are, too really tough,
teams but they got those primetime games sandwiched around their bye,
week and so they're gonna be able to rest after
The texans, game they get the short rest going into

(45:10):
another game come out Of Monday Night, football and they
have that buy before they play The, commanders a team
THAT i think is gonna be one of The Super
bowl favorites in THE.

Speaker 3 (45:17):
Nfc it just feels like.

Speaker 8 (45:20):
The schedule it was put together in a way Where,
seattle if they do have a slip up against a better.

Speaker 3 (45:27):
Team that they have the schedule in place where they
can bounce.

Speaker 8 (45:31):
Back it does look like a favorable one from the
perspective that you don't have that stretch that you just
look at, like oh, boy they could lose three or
four games out of five. HERE i don't see anything
like that on this schedule For.

Speaker 3 (45:43):
Seattle.

Speaker 1 (45:43):
Yeah i'm gonna get back to the opponents in a.
Second let me just talk about the, stretch BECAUSE i
look at the, week the stretch out of the bye
week At. Commanders cardinals are just always a. Problem they just.
Are they're a problem that maybe a lot of people
think they're improved time tell if they are they still
Have Kyler murrays or. Quarterback that's either a yes or.

(46:04):
No he's either great or. Not But Commander's cardinals at The,
Rams that to me is the stretch that you just
referred to from last. Year that's the stretch this. Year
like that's a, pivotal pivotal stretch weeks, nine, ten and.

Speaker 3 (46:15):
Eleven, YEAH i think that would be second on my.

Speaker 8 (46:20):
List i'm, Listen i'm gonna Put i'm gonna call my
shot right. NOW i think The Carolina panthers are a
sleeper team to watch in THE Nfc. South if if you,
WATCHED i actually remember talking to you about this last.
Year at one point late in the, season that team
was playing as well as anybody in THE. Nfc the
last six or seven, Games Bryce young looked like a different.

(46:41):
Player and that's The Dave canalis. Effect the guy just
knows how to coach. QUARTERBACKS i thought they had a
really good. Draft they made some good additions in free.
Agency The carolina on the road In, charlotte having that
game in Late december sandwiched between.

Speaker 3 (46:59):
A home game On thursday night football against The.

Speaker 8 (47:01):
Rams Matt stafford has been a kryptonite for The seahawks At.
Lumanfield he has played really well there since coming to The.
Rams and then you have the forty nine ers In
week eighteen of the, road AND i talked about that inexperienced.
Aspect by week, eighteen that might no longer be a
significant issue for. Them in, fact that could be potentially

(47:22):
a play in game for one of THE Nfc west
or getting into the. Postseason SO i look at that
three game stretch and that's another one that jumps out to,
me just BECAUSE i View carolina as a team that
could be a lot better than people are anticipating going
into this.

Speaker 3 (47:35):
Year all.

Speaker 1 (47:35):
Right so one of the things That i'm wondering is
with the divisions that they play with The south BASICALLY
NFC Afc south's with The south divisions that they get
an opportunity to play that you, KNOW i think that
you could go what seven to one against those. Teams
you should maybe go seven to one against those. Teams

(47:58):
maybe if you go six and, two but that sets
you up pretty. Well LIKE i would take those two
DIVISIONS i think right now over other divisions that you
could be forced to play this.

Speaker 3 (48:07):
Year, YEAH i, think especially with THE AFC.

Speaker 8 (48:11):
Souths JACKSONVILLE i expect is gonna be much, improved BUT
i don't know that they're gonna be back in playoff
contention just.

Speaker 3 (48:19):
Yet in that, Division, indianapolis.

Speaker 8 (48:22):
The quarterback situation is a train wreck right now Unless
Anthony richardson just figures.

Speaker 3 (48:27):
It, out AND i think there's a lot of skepticism
on that.

Speaker 8 (48:31):
Front Cam ward And. TENNESSEE i think he's already gonna
be instantly much better than What Will levis, Was but,
like what's the supporting casts there away FROM i, mean
Maybe Tyler lockett has one more great season in, him
BUT i just look at their supporting casts AND i
just don't see a team that's gonna win a lot
of football games In. Nashville and even The texans have

(48:51):
some thorns that they're trying to work. Through SO i
think that division more so than the other. ONE i
Think Campa bay is a team that could really do
some damage with the offensive weapons that they. Have atlanta
is kind of the curiosity in THAT Nfc South division
with some of the pieces they've got. Around Michael Pennix
JUNIOR i Mentioned carolina could be a much better team this.

(49:13):
Year The New ORLEANS i think is the number one
pick next. Year that to me is the worst team
in football roster, wise AND i don't see.

Speaker 3 (49:20):
Any way that that changes between now and the start
of the.

Speaker 8 (49:23):
Season Maybe Kellen moore's got some magic as a new head,
coach but that would be the team there that that
seems like a Guinea In week three For seattle playing
at home against The, Saints.

Speaker 1 (49:34):
Cormyn smith joining us here on The Beacon plumbing. Hotline all,
right BEFORE i let you, go just do you do
a roster or schedule? Roulette do you give me a?
Record after looking at it all stacked up, TOGETHER.

Speaker 3 (49:47):
I think that this is.

Speaker 8 (49:49):
At worst a ten win. TEAM i think equaling what
they had last. YEAR i can definitely see, eleven, twelve
even thirteen wins if everything falls in one. Again it's
just BECAUSE i feel like there isn't that stretch that
is just extremely daunting that they've gotten, there and even
some of the tougher, GAMES i Mean minnesota In week,

(50:11):
thirteen that they're coming off of A i know it's
a road, game but they're playing The. Titans and then
the next couple of weeks you got The falcons and The,
colts who at best to me are average. Teams SO
i just think the schedule sets up as long as
they don't get completely destroyed by the injury. BUG i
just think this schedule sets up anything less than ten,

(50:33):
wins and maybe even the argument eleven would feel like
a disappointment to me with the roster they've got coming
back and some of the additions they.

Speaker 1 (50:40):
Made i'll ask you a final little weird follow. Up
what do you think the teams On seattle? Schedule whether
it be THE Nfc west teams or the teams in The,
south or even The, commanders.

Speaker 2 (50:52):
Etc?

Speaker 1 (50:52):
Steelers what do you think the talk is you're on
that locked on, network you're talking to guys around the.
League what do you think the real talk is not
the talking heads OF espn that don't know anything about
a team outside Of New york or a big market Or.
Dallas what do you think the talk is around the
like when they're looking AT I i've Got seattle week.
Whatever what do you think to talk About seattle is.

Speaker 3 (51:14):
Right now the general.

Speaker 8 (51:15):
Consensus i'm just speaking from the lockdown network as. WELL i,
Mean seattle was twenty first on the power. RANKINGS i
think they are a much better team than. That BUT
i think there is a lot of skepticism About Sam
darnold being able to follow up what he did In,
minnesota and to, me that is the biggest question mark
with this. Team is the offensive line going to be
good enough to be able to protect him in a

(51:36):
way where he can play the way that he did last?
Year and is this team going to take a step
back Without Geno?

Speaker 3 (51:43):
Smith that is to me the biggest question.

Speaker 8 (51:45):
Mark because the defense has pretty much everybody back and
they've added.

Speaker 3 (51:48):
Some fun pieces to that. Unit this defense should.

Speaker 8 (51:51):
Be a top five caliber unit from the outset this
year and can carry this. TEAM i think the run
game is going to be significantly better than it was last.
Year it really just boils down to THE qb play
and the concerns About. DARNOLD i think that's the biggest
reason why you're seeing a lot of these, experts whether
it's the big networks or you, know Locked on or whoever,

(52:13):
ELSE i think that's the reason you're seeing them down
On seattle's chances of being a playoff team this.

Speaker 1 (52:18):
Year all, right tell people about Locked on In Emerald City,
spectrum my, Friend, yeah you can.

five days a. Week we've actually had nine episodes this

which was really exciting and we're fired up about.

Speaker 1 (52:56):
That my, friend great. STUFF i appreciate you as, always
we'll talk to. You so that's.

Speaker 8 (53:01):
Good.

Speaker 1 (53:01):
Ians that is our Guy Corbyn smith joining us here
on The Beacon plumbing Hot. Line you did this, earlier
would you? PICK i said eleven and, Six, ANDREWS i
meant THAT i went off the cuff, yesterday BUT i
always go down that. Road what'd you? Say?

Speaker 2 (53:15):
YEAH i said eleven and six as. Well slightly different,
Games i'm, sure winning and, losing like you had them
losing At, atlanta but THEN i had them Beating Tampa
bay at. HOME a couple weird ones here and. There
they're always gonna win a game we expect them to,
lose and then they're gonna lose a, game we expect
them to win.

Speaker 1 (53:28):
It and every team does that for the most right
along the, way unless you run the. Table but, YEAH i,
WOULD i would agree with. You it's. Interesting he's pretty
high in The. PANTHERS i Understand Dave canal has had
that that team kind of going at the. End it's
a little different when you're playing for, Nothing, yes and
you know the quarterback weird stuff going on last. YEAR
i JUST i there are teams if you're that you

(53:49):
just have to, beat, yes and that you are better
than Personnel. WHITE i saw that. Thing that's WHY i
asked about the rest of the. LEAGUE i saw the
locked on stuff with the twenty first and the power,
rankings And i'm, like the good news with that is
it means. Nothing. Yeah it's not like a college football
poll where, hey you better be on the radar for
college football. Playoffs it's not like basketball where, boy if

(54:12):
you're not on the, radar then an at large team
and all the, numbers, metrics all those. Things, no it's
about wins and, losses And seattle has always, thrived at
least Under Pete. Carroll But i'll you, Know schneider's still.
There AND i kind of look At meg McDonald like that,
too be an underdog. Doubtus that's, Fine like that's that
these guys were at their best when they're the. Hungriest,

(54:34):
yeah and there's guys Like Jared reed still on the
roster that still have that same. Mindset so let's see
they can do. That four, nine four to five one text.
Line we've got A Pga championship update right.

Speaker 5 (54:43):
Now broad casting live from THE r AND R Foundation
specialist broadcast. Studio now back To Ian, fornz powered By
seattle's closest sports, Book snow call Me casino On Sports

Storytelling so, basically games still here on one of our.
STATIONS i say one of them because just depends on

yeah they're all over the. Place there will also be
some rain games on the. Radio it sounds like as,
well new partnership with The rain some increased coverage for
The Seattle rain of THE. Nwsl feels like the guy
From Emerald city Saw Emeral City spectrum that writes soccer

(58:32):
they're just everything about The sounders is first. Class like
every thing about them as first. Class And I've i've,
always you, KNOW i growing up watching the Original sounders
in the seventies and eighties in the Old North American Soccer. League,

so many, ways fifty years plus now fifty years, Plus

(58:54):

Just schmetscher's. Awesome, yeah he comes Almost Softyan dick and
it's it's good.

Speaker 3 (01:00:05):

we had a whole show set up and it all
just went just imploded before our very eyes on live
radio with the cloud based phone system Deciding it was
so funny because we're Blaming Andy johnson from TEN a to.
Fan i'm, like get a, phone, dude what's, like what's
wrong with? You like you want to talk about poverty?

(01:02:43):
Ridden that's Like tennady the fan out In. Portland you
guys are poverty. Ridden you can't can't afford phones for your. Talent,
nope that wasn't. It it was. Ours it was our,
fall one hundred, percent our our technical issues that we
found out when we had our next guest on at two.
O'clock and then you know, what at that, Point i'm,
Done i'm. Pivoting i'm going to in front my hand
AND i went through the. Schedule even THOUGH i have

(01:03:03):
largely been against that over the, Years i've largely ignored
it over the. Years i'm kind of like, FAINT i
want to SEE i want to make sure it's all.
Official and, OH i got to tell you a funny one, Though,
andrew do you like?

Speaker 3 (01:03:14):

Speaker 1 (01:06:15):
Jackson when did you find?

Speaker 3 (01:06:17):

Speaker 1 (01:06:18):
Jackson when did you find out as the host of
the pre and postgame match shows that the leading one
of the leading voices of sports radio leading Voices Dave
softie More Dick fan are gonna be part of the
pre match shows for?

Speaker 12 (01:06:29):
You, well Firstp softie probably won't appear on the pre
matt shows because WHEN i ask, Him, softy what do
you think about the midfield play today Between pedro dal
Le vega And Jesus, ferrera what do you want to, Say?

Speaker 9 (01:06:38):
BUDDY i think really they have to figure out what
guy they want to go with because they're they're holding
a Double vega back they play. Together, well THEN i
don't know what you're talking. About, Hey i'll just be
totally honest with. You so AND i don't think we've
ever said this on the air, before And i'll say it.

Speaker 1 (01:06:55):
NOW i have no problem saying it.

Speaker 9 (01:06:56):
Now so Whenever schmetzcher is on the show with, Us,
yeah the questions that we asked From.

Speaker 1 (01:07:01):

Big stanford.

Speaker 9 (01:08:19):

grew up A Stanford.

Speaker 1 (01:08:24):

okay with.

Speaker 9 (01:08:27):
That, yeah if you grow up in The Bay area
and you Know, stanford, whatever that's. Fine just would you pick?
One would you pick Color? Stamford whould you pick if
you grew up? There depending on what was in my family's,
Background AND i just LIKE i could choose whichever ONE
i wanted, to Probably, stanford.
