Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, you're doing the show at three today, I am
myself and Jackson Dick's doing a storm game, and Softy
still in Greece.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
So I can't believe they haven't sent him home yet. Yeah,
me neither, Like I'm dead, like really, like, yeah, I know.
I see this stuff on Instagram. The guys, that's a
posting fool.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
So he posts mom when he's on vacation, then he
does when he is here.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
When I'm on vacation. The last thing I'm doing is posting.
I'm like, hey man, I'm chilling out having fun. I
hope everybody had a good long weekend. The Mariner is
not as good. Weird. They were one of six teams
yesterday they didn't play. For the life of me, baseball,
I don't I don't get you, like they don't understand
should play.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
Like you're you live in a world of Charters. It's
Charter playing home away. You go, what's wrong with taking
Thursday off?
Speaker 2 (00:46):
I that was odd, but maybe they you know, for
Seattle standpoint, they probably needed it, Like they probably probably good.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Yeah, they did't play seven straight games last week. They
didn't have a day off, so yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
And in the four that's a taxing four game series
with the Astros. Things didn't go their way. They come
home with a one and a half game lead. Washington's
not awful. They're five games below five hundred.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Series you should win, Yeah, but they should.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Win that series. Minnesota's gonna be a tough one this weekend.
Minnesota is part of that just juggernaut of a Central
Division right now where everybody but the White Sox is good. Yeah,
that's true, right, I mean, so that'll be a good
series coming up this weekend, and in a way they go.
But yeah, the man's come home sitting there with that
twenty nine to twenty three record. Logan Evans against Mitchell
Parker is your pitching matchup tonight. That's a six forty
(01:33):
first pitch on Root Sports. So I'm watching some NBA yesterday.
I've come to we'll talk John's gonn join us two
oclock today. We'll talk to him about this a little bit.
We'll we'll get into that it's inevitable, buddy, Yeah, I
don't know if it's inevitable they're going to win it all.
It feels like it is. It's certainly inevitable. The thunder
are going to get to the finals. It's it's they
(01:55):
win last night one twenty eight, one twenty six, and
frankly a game that wasn't that close. I appreciate the
Herritt Carolina Hurricanes putting away the Panthers, uh with that
early empty net goal with two and a half to go,
so I could flip immediately over to watch most of
the well all the fourth quarter, a little bit of
the third quarter of the NBA game. I'm watching it
last night and I'm trying to I'm trying to find
(02:17):
like I'm trying to find hope. I'm trying to find
a flaw, right, like a fatal flaw. And I made
a comment last week, and I'm gonna go back on
this comment. I wanna I'm gonna go back. Maybe it
was two weeks ago. If they were playing anywhere else,
they'd be a really likable team. No they wouldn't. No,
they wouldn't. I've come to the conclusion they would come
around on that. Okay, Well, here's why. Like Shay gielgis,
(02:40):
Alexander is a terrific player. There. He is maddening to watch,
Like I don't want to call him soft, but I'm
trying to figure out what I'm calling him it's something
that's not good, which is what they were chanting yesterday
and at the Target cent it's now when you when
(03:02):
you do take the amount of shots he takes and
have the ball in your but how easy he goes down? Uh,
the officials protect him is just an oddity along the way.
Chet Holmgren really good player. I just I don't like him.
I just there's something unlikely. There's just an unlikability about
(03:23):
this team.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Gonzaga and Okay see no no thing.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
Yeah, that's a deadly combination. Alex Caruso go away, Yeah,
you know it. Just but I'm watching them last night
and I got to give them their props. I got
to give them their due because, like I said, I'm
looking for what what would be? What could you do
and how can you beat these guys? Well, if they
decide they're going to take a game off like they
did in Game three, they just took it off. That's
(03:48):
the it's the it's the history of the NBA. Man.
I remember when God I was in Utah once and
they got just annihilated. It wasn't they played the finals
against the Bulls. I think the Bulls kill them one
two but it's like Dallas or something just killed them, right,
just killed them. They were like, oh my god, this
is a red flag. And they came back and went
like the next three games like thanks for coming. H
You just get bored sometimes in the NBA. It's the
(04:09):
difference between Stanley Cup playoffs and the NBA playoffs. Stanley
Cup playoffs there is always, always, always, there is always
every Stanley Cup playoff, there is a level of urgency
that you just don't see in the NBA playoffs. But
the NBA playoffs, take a game off and then we'll
just hit the switch and all of a sudden, they
led by five, start to finish let one one by
two and it probably shoot him in the neck cloth.
(04:30):
But here's what's amazing about Oklahoma Sy. This is what
gives me great concern. They're so good at closing teams out.
And I saw this in Game three. I saw Game two.
I'm sorry Game two. Every time Minnesota got within three
or four down the stretch, boom they hit a shot.
Last night, they were thirteen of twenty sixty five percent
(04:52):
was Oklahoma City in the fourth quarter three of six
outside the arc fifty percent. They hit nine of ten
free throws in the fourth quarter as a t team,
and the only third reason it was close is because
Minnesota hit six three pointers of their fourteen field goals
in the fourth quarter. Oklohova City is the best defensive
team in the league, and they're probably the best finishing
team in the league. They're so well coached. It's inevitable. Man,
(05:15):
It's inevitable. I've come to accept it, and so be it.
It's going to happen, it will be, they will be
in the finals. I just pray that the horrific coverage
that ESPN has for both hockey and the NBA, do
not be flashing up graphics on ABC and ESPN about
the first championship chance since seventy nine. Do not throw
(05:35):
up that SGA is going to join Dennis Johnson as
the only finals MVPs in franchise history. Do not give
us that. Do not make me sick to my stomach.
It's going to be hard enough. Now. You asked me
a question earlier when we were talking off there.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
What was that question so context here before I asked
the question. Most people know that have listened regularly. My
wife is from Argentina. They ended a drought of their
own when they won the World Cup in twenty twenty two,
and there's an over filming belief that you know, my
my wife's into that kind of stuff and she's like
follows it pretty closely. That it was actually right after
(06:08):
Diego Maradona had passed, so the thought around.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Who people and all was one of the great players
in Argentine history.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
He's probably the top five player of all time period
all time. Yes, won two World Cups. Yeah, yeah, anyways,
he was like their best player ever before Messi came
and all that stuff. So when he died, it's almost like, okay,
one good thing had to pass for another one to happen,
right right, And so my question is to you, I
get the same vibe here with OKAC if you were
(06:37):
to know that, okay, see it would go and win
the finals this year, but have the announcement of expansion
be you know, I'll just to wrap it all together
on their banner raising night at the beginning of next season.
What would you take that trade off right now? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Under yeah, And it's hard because it's it's it's it's
a great you can only have one. But it's kind
of different than that. I would we're getting the NBA back.
It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.
But timing wise, that would certainly ease the pain of
having to watch those guys have a parade down the
dusty streets of Oklahoma City and you know, and raise
(07:16):
a banner next fall and all that stuff. Yeah. Yeah,
I you know, we we you know if if like
how she thinks, so is that like some sort of
like voodoo stuff. They haven't.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
Yeah, they're all into like the Jinxes and like, okay,
so that's where this comes from. I want to get
bad energy all that kind of stuff. So this is all,
this is all, that is all. This is like Argentina
voodoo stuff.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Right.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Oh yeah, they're all into that stuff. Man, I'm telling you.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
That's fine because Kevin Claberal were of the great calls
of all time. You do the voodoo stuff. Yeah, so
I come into it.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
I mean, what would you take that like? Because I
almost think, like you mentioned, the kind of conundrum of oh,
where did the where does the history start for the
OKAC thunder Right, technically they are technically they are the
same franchise. Franchise, yes, right, but so I think the
best way to address. That would be okay here, like
we're gonna announce expansion as they win the title, so
(08:05):
that they we know, Okay, the history of the Seattle
Sonics goes back to Seattle, and you guys start in
two thousand and nine or whatever it was the first Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
Wait eight oh a nine yeah wait oh nine yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
So I think that'd be a good way to address it,
if that's how you're gonna do it.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
So yeah, I would take that four nine four or
five one. Yeah, you guys go ahead and win. Boy,
you tell me, you tell me. We're getting a franchise
announced this summer. And I don't care what Oklahoma City does.
I don't care at all. Four nine, four to five one.
I know you guys will talk about this later as well.
All right, Joe Shean's gonna join us in just a second,
Joe Shean Newsletter, all Things Baseball, M's big week coming
up ahead of them after Uh, you know, it's funny,
(08:39):
good road trip six and four roach, Yeah, just take
that like six and four road trip. I heard Gary
Hill say the day, and I agree with that. Gary said,
could be a great road trip, but it's already a
good road trip and he was right. It would have
been nice to have a great road trip, but we'll
take six and four any daily week.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Just that taste at the end of it.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Really Yeah, and especially to those guys. Yeah right, you know, Houston,
they're just kind of a pain in the ass. And
they cheat still. I know they still cheat. I don't know.
I don't have any proof, but I'm telling you they cheat.
We all know they cheat. A bunch of cheaters. Okay,
let's get josh. He also did, by the way, an
all quarter century team, which is why he lifes out. Yeah,
we'll talk about that with Joe and talk all things baseball.
Coming up next.
Speaker 3 (09:20):

Love our conversations with Joe she in every Tuesday one
twenty Pacific time. He joins us right now in the
Beacon Plumbing Hotline Joshian newsletter, Go subscribe, go to joshan
dot com. Baseball fans and if you're a mator fan,
this year lots to talk about loss of discuss good
baseball team despite what happened in Houston. Hello, Joe, how
are you good?
Speaker 4 (10:06):
I was telling Andrews I got plot trying to run
an errand today. So you get me from the mean
streets of Jangers today.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
I like it. I like it. That's fine, I do.
I'll tell you what I like. I like myself a
good list and a good quarter century team which you
put together. We'll get to that in just a couple
of seconds. Before I am you wrote about the Twins,
who the Mariners see later this week, and sounds like
you don't want to see their bullpen late in meetings.
We'll get to that as well in just a little while, Joe,
(10:33):
bigger picture. Mariners go six and four on a road trip.
They lose three of four in Houston game and a
half lead. I think we're all still kind still trying
to figure out who and what this team is, or
who and what the Al West is all about. From
your thirty thousand foot view, what would you say.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
I think it's the least two three teams that are
roughly equal. I think at them separated by six games
in the preseason. Injuries of Bobby's obviously been a fact.
You guys over the weekend, Sauth the Astros, you get
into their bullpen, you're in trouble. But I mean they're
down to like they're eleventh starter at this point. They
had Hunter Brown who's been fantassing, fred Braa Valdez has
been fredbra Valdez and pretty much everybody else has been here,
(11:12):
Spencer Araghetti, Hert and s Thumb. Kayden he's going to
gout for the year. In elbow injury Statser Colors finally
came back. He's been knocked around pretty badly. They've gone
through Ryan Goostu. I believe you guys saw over the
weekend Colton Ward in the left hand and rookie They're
just so wrecked in the rotation, and you wonder where
they're gonna be able to hold on and stay in
this race. You got the Rangers, who are basically last
(11:32):
year's Marriagers, right. They have this incredible pitching staff, one
of the best run prevention teams in baseball, and they
can't score. They're really they actually called up a rookie,
Alejandro Sooner, just trying to get some offense going. Evan
Carter has been hurt, Corey Seeker has been hurt. John
Peterson is now hurt, although he wasn't hitting. So you
just got really flawed teams. And I think right now
and again you remember last year's team. This might sound crazy,
(11:55):
but the best balanced team offensive, deep and run prevention
right now is probably these Marriers.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
I want to Joshi in joining us. I'm going to
get to two Mariners and then I'm going to move
on to some other things. Let me start with and
I think I told you this last week. We're gonna
ask about and get your thoughts on Julio Rodriguez every
single week during the month of May, which is coming
to close, hitting two seventy six fourteen runs, two doubles,
five home runs, fifteen RBIs, four walks in a seven
eighty six ops during May. Also played some pretty good
(12:23):
defense as well. This feels like it's Julio trending up
earlier than he normally does.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
Right He's had this big first half second half split
and last year he really didn't even get a going
in the second half. But he's getting it started. A
little bit earlier. I thought he had a stretch. I
want to say, thirty thirty one great appearances without a strikeout.
To me, that kind of showed some growth. When I
watch him, I still see somebody's chasing a little bit,
somebody's hitting the ball in the ground a little bit
too much. We know the skills are there. He's been
(12:50):
that guy somebody gets the mill up in the air.
He hits for power. But as I think I said
in the previous reek with you, he doesn't have to
be while I'm so, he doesn't have to be shoot
at the plate. If he's an eight hundred ops t
I say three thirty four to seventy OVP and slugging,
that's an MVP caliber player because he brings everything else.
(13:12):
He's one of the best players with everything else, base running,
in defense, in the game. That's going to be just this.
He said seven eighty six to May where he did.
Just keep being a seven eighty six centner and the
rest of the year, you're talking about a guy who's
going to be a six to seven win player over
the course of the season, and I do think there's
upside from there. I think that we're going to see
Ulio Rodriguez, whether it's for three months in the second
(13:34):
half of this year or over a full season. When
he gets in twenty five or twenty six, he's going
to have that year where he gets the ball in
the year more and the line drives fall in and
he hits three ten and that's going to be the
year he wins the MVP of one.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
On the other side of things, Joe, I think there
has to be concerned. And Andrews, you're my baseball guy.
Helped me out here. Jorge Polonco oll for his last
ten a whole bunch of strikeouts in the month of May,
massive step back from when he had that incredible month
of March slash April. Feels like maybe he's banged up again,
(14:07):
which is kind of a tendency with Horoy Polanco gets
banged up. He was really along with cal Rawley, carrying
this offense early. Now that he's taking a step back,
should we be concerned?
Speaker 4 (14:18):
I mentioned not just the numbers, look at the overall
season line. Remember, he was never going to keep hitting
like Stan News. We knew that, and now you know
it's been balanced out by the bad day. But I
think overall he's hitting better than you would have expected
Hora Polanco or d I'm always going to want to
look at the largest possible samplet I look at Polanco
as a guy who's been at his best, a three
(14:39):
to four win player. As a DH is probably just
about a two win player. But you take having to
play the field off of his plate, and that should
make him a better hitter. We talk about the DH penalty,
right if a player who plays in the field and
also DHS tends to hit worse at DH. But a
player who plays DH all the time you get used
to that routine. You see it with rapid devers in
(15:00):
this year. He's not having that being penalized for being
a DAG. So I think Blanco in that role is
going to end up being seventy to seventy five OPS
type pitter. I think he'll come out of this slot.
He'll be fine for this team. He's not the problem.
If I'm looking, Yeah, I think you know they'll get Bill.
Who knows when they'll get Robes back. I think you're
looking at an outfield as you're looking to say, who
(15:22):
do we want to add to this roster? It's going
to be an outfield not necessarily.
Speaker 2 (15:26):
Maybe maybe you mean, are you telling me Leoti Tavaris
is not the answer?
Speaker 5 (15:29):
Are you?
Speaker 2 (15:30):
Is that?
Speaker 4 (15:30):
Is?
Speaker 2 (15:30):
That? Is that an insight I just got from Joshian?
Did I just get that from you?
Speaker 4 (15:33):
We didn't well, we didn't get talked about this. But
wasn't that the same play they made last year? Let's
take a former well regarded prospect, he's had some success
in the majors and his team just basically cut him.
Let's pick him up and see what happens. I'm be
honest with you. When they did it, I was like,
oh my god, this is going to be Robbless you
know part two. It hasn't quite worked out that way.
I think one of the issues is, you know, to VARs,
(15:54):
like Roguless has had more offensive success in the pad,
had more offensive successive so you could project him as
a corner outfielder who could actually help you offensively. So
Varius to me, if he's not playing center field, and
he's not going to play center field with this tip
and he's not playing center, he's much harder to play.
So Varus is not going to hit well enough, even
(16:15):
with the good defense, to be an asset in an
outfield cop.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
It's funny that Josie and Jonas I thought the same thing.
I think a lot of us not the same thing,
as like they picked this guy up.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
I always like wondered, like Rolls last year, Tavaris this year,
Like God, wouldn't there be other teams ahead of them
in the in the waiver order that would want to
get a guy like that. It was just odd to
me they're able to get these guys last Year's great
for Jerry and those guys to get them. It just
seemed odd that those guys were able to get all
the way through that happens.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
I mean some of it is because they played on waivers,
right they didn't. They took them on the money. It's
a couple million bucks three million that's part of a
team's just so he's gonna become so host center at
this point that you just say, you really want to
take on three million dollars for a player who might
be a replaced with level outfielder if you don't have
a clear knee. You look at the Royal. I'm not
(17:00):
sure why he gets past the Wards. The Royals one
of the world's having a very strange season. But one
of the reasons they are having a strange seasons that
have a terrible, terrible offer. Tavars, to me, could have
stepped in and started for that. And there are a
number of teams like that where it is Tavares, even
as Porus he was playing for the Rangers, would have
been an asset for teams. As you say ahead in
the waiver head in the waiver order, I'd have to
(17:20):
check to see if the Royals were ahead of the
Mariners when Tavars was out there. The Royals got off
to a good start, the Worlds might have actually been
behind the Mariners in the waiver playing order.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
Joe she In joining us before I get to your
all century quarter century team, which would kind of fun
to talk about in a second. This week they got
coming up. They've got the Guardians for three starting tonight,
and then they got the Twins. Just a quick thought
on the on the Guardians. They're not awful, they're not good.
They're five games below five hundred. What can we expect
from that? That washing I'm saying, Guardians, I'm sorry, Washington
(17:50):
Nationals Washington Nationals in here for three before the twins.
What can we expect from a twenty four and twenty
nine Washington team.
Speaker 4 (17:58):
They're just not very good. I mean, they've got a core.
You look at James Wood's a lot of fun to watch.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
C j.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
Abrams and shortstop McKenzie Gore. I'm not sure if you're
gonna catch him in the series, but he's been very good.
But the roster after they're like top five guys is
just terrible. He got Josh Bell playing for them, they
called up. I mean, Dylan Cruz is actually good player.
He's stopped playing well. But it just after you get
past that, those first roster spots, it's very thin. You
get into their bullpen and you really should be able
(18:23):
to take advance a little bit. The opposite of playing
the Astros, where you get into the Astros bullpen, you're
in trouble. You get into the Nationals bullpen, you can
definitely steal the game.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
With mackenzie Gore goes on Thursday against Emerson Hancock as
your third start, Trevor Williams tomorrow and Mitchell Parker today
Evans Kirby Hancock for Seattle. The three starters for them,
and then you wrote about the Twins at Joshian dot com.
It sounds like speaking of bullpens the opposite of what
you just talked about with Washington. If you see Minnesota's bullpen,
late high leverage, that's not going to bode well for
(18:51):
a lot of teams.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
You can talk about this with a lot of revievers.
Now I'm just Munia is actually a great example, even
Matt Brash with the Mariners when you just watched them, like,
how does anybody ever hit them? Duanduran, who's the closer
for the Twins, might be at the top of the twistener.
Devin Williams Deans was one hundred, but then he also
has this like ninety eight an hour splinker. He's had
(19:13):
a slip finger sinker hybrid. Paul Skeins throws one. A
few of the guys thrower. Duran was the first to throw,
and it's just completely unhitta. But you're standing at the
plate and you've got to choose between one hundred up
and ninety eight down. It's just there's no may You're
just over mess. And you've also got Griffin Jacks who
got up to a bad start. Paul Sands rock Stewart.
They've been very good at kind of finding guys who
(19:35):
were either injury histories or you know, fella, you didn't
work out in the places. Brock he was with the Dodgers.
I want to see Louis Barland.
Speaker 6 (19:42):
He's also.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
And they build a good bulk that these bare forts.
I love Rockey man Bell. I love what he's done
with that Pani location. You've got older Ryan and lots
up front. Same as last year. This year, though, Chris
Paddens you might remember as a rookie with Padres twenty nineteen.
He he actually try to do a really good start.
We've got some no long he's heavy, Matthews and David Festa.
(20:04):
This is very much a run prevention team and it
needs to be because between the injuries, you have Korea
miss some time with a concussion and they have cast thing.
Buxton was actually healthy, he had had the collision with Korea.
He was outd that. Royce Lewis has played his twelve
games this year, Trevor Larnov, Matt Mohler, their they have
so much of their offense on the al or unavailable
(20:25):
or in and out of the lineup that they've really
become this run prevention team. So I say, there's not
a soft touch. If you look at the pitching staff,
there are probably nine above average pitchers on it, and
you really can't say that much.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
Minute twas all right, I'm wrapping up this all quarter
century team. Uh. Molina is your catcher, pool Holes at first,
Utly at second, Lindora shortstop, Adrian Beltraze your third baseman
outfield left to right, Bonds, Trout, Betts, David Ortiz. The
d H starting pitchers Kershaw, Verlander, Grinky Scherzer, and Santana.
(20:59):
And the relief pitcher is Mariana Mariano Rivera. I'm gonna
guess that Rivera was the easiest pick, which was the hardest?
Where'd you have the biggest debate with yourself? Uh?
Speaker 6 (21:11):
Catcher?
Speaker 4 (21:12):
Probably I was. If you were just blindly asked me
last Tuesday, I probably would have said it was going
to be Joe Mauer. And I went looking and Yadi
and Molina, who I don't advocate for the Hall of
Fame while I do. The other two caught more innings
than Mauer. And then you look at the other number.
You look at Elias two thousand and fourth or twenty
twenty two, the Cargos allowed fourteen hundred Summas four hundred
(21:37):
and fifteen stolen based attempts. Almost every other team in
baseball allowed at least fourteen hundred steels. So it wasn't
just that Molina was throwing out a lot of guys.
If he was, he was preventing teams from even trunk.
Johnny Bench had that kind of miff about our guests
to sell stock. But you've got a pitcher completely shut
down the running game, completely shut down the idea of
(21:57):
the running game. So going through it, you know, so
I actually started a catcher and that was I think
the one that surprised me the most. The one was that,
you know, I'm gonna go with the guy I didn't
expect to be picking here. And then my last starting pitcher,
Johann Santana. I think she's a bath. I want to
mention that this is Jason Stark. I ripped off his idea.
He did this at the athletic Thursday morning. I'm like, hey,
this is really cool. I don't have anything to write today,
(22:19):
let me read this. But yeah, I went with Johanna
Tantana as my number five starter. I think Santana kind
of got a little screwed. In two thousand and five,
he was the best picture of the American League and
he didn't get the say Young Award the game with
the Portola Cologne. Who actually when wins or something back
when that's how you win the Siting Award. If Santana
gets the award he properly deserves. He wins three straight
syng Awards and he probably is already in so I
(22:41):
think Santana is gonna end up being a really underrated picture.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
For this all. Is Bollina the only guy on that
list it's not a Hall of Famer? Well, Bond's obviously,
he's got the other stuff going on. But is he
the only one that's not a Hall of Famer? Yeah,
he is.
Speaker 4 (22:56):
Cools is obviously maybe the first best first chas Ever,
I think how people recognize that Francisco Lindor as a
Hall of Famer. I think you would get some pushback
on that. But to me, dirty one Anderty I fifty
something more. He's got a lot of other markers, He's
had a lot of my top and if he finishes
got a pretty good postseason record, I'm probably gonna.
Speaker 6 (23:16):
Win a title.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
Somewhere every along the line in the I think Lindor
is probably the guy that's a casual fan might not
recognize us. Pretty much already locked up a Hall of
Fame career.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
Love it. Tell people about the Joshia newsletter.
Speaker 4 (23:28):
Joe, Yeah, I ran that last week. I just do

team other than the Yankees, the Mets, the Red Sox,
and the Dodgers. He does actually know that there's other
teams in the baseball which is what we love about Joe.
She including the stuff about the Twins and that bullpen
that Seattle is going to see this weekend and we'll
(24:11):
have a conversation about Duran and Munoz next week. We'll
see which of those guys gets the most opportunities in
that three game series. Should be fun to watch those
two guys if it gets a high leverage late innings
in those games coming up. Have a great week, Joe,
thank you. There you go, Joshi and Joshian dot com

Speaker 1 (24:36):
You know the quarter Century team, well, because it's.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
Always there's always good debates, right Like, there's always really
good debates in there. And you know, I looked at
his list, and I honestly, I don't think you argue.
I don't know where you would argue, to be honest
with you, Bonds maybe because when did he retire?
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Was it, I want to say, two thousand and six?
Speaker 4 (24:56):
Maybe?
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Yeah, So he kind of feels like among those guys
he has a guy. Yeah, because I just I'm just
kind of thinking in terms of all quarter Century, which
you know, two thousand and twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (25:07):
Right seven? He lost them?
Speaker 2 (25:08):
Did he really go to ocean?
Speaker 1 (25:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Wow? I mean Beltra at third base. That's a no brainer.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
I mean O one, O, two, oh three, oh four
or four straight MVP one seasons where he led the
league and uh ops.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
Forget it and everything. I just said, flush it, please
hit the hit the dumb button. Flush that. Yeah. Uh
Mike Trodden center field, I know, widely regarded as the
best player in baseball. When he plays. God, just doesn't
feel like he plays a lot.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
Yeah, I know Aaron Judge feels a little weird too,
but I understand he's he hasn't really been here very long.
I think twenty thirteen was his first year or something
like that. So yeah, a little bit if he but still,
that's that's half of the century. I'm just half the
quarter century.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
No, it is it is. I'm just looking. I'm looking.
I'm looking up Stay with me. I'm looking at going warm.
I'm looking at Mike Trouches for a second, I got
it up here. What do you need? Well, I'm just
looking at Okay. So in the twenty eleven he made
his debut. We only play forty games, so really his
first year, his rookie year is twenty twelve. YEP ten
War ten and a half War my god, that's unreal. Yeah,
(26:13):
and then eight point nine seven points. So there's a
one two, three, four five year stretch where he was
by far the best player in baseball, two MVPs, a
Rookie of the Year. Then he won another MVP in
twenty nineteen. So but ever since twenty nineteen, he hasn't
really been the same. Twenty fourteen, twenty sixteen, twenty nineteen
an MVP. Yeah, hard argue against him. Yeah, I guess
(26:34):
a recency bias, which were always its recentcy bias comes
in all the time. But he went center field, is
how he did it. Yeah, he went by position in
the outfield.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
Judge play. Yeah, Judges played a couple of years in
center as well.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
But the fact that Trout has played this is the
game's played for Trout since twenty nineteen, since twenty nineteen.
I'm gonna take twenty twenty out, so start at twenty one,
thirty six, one hundred and nineteen eighty two, twenty nine,
and he's played twenty nine so far this year.
Speaker 6 (27:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
Just he's falling off.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
Yeah, I mean, it's just injuries. It sucks because you
wonder what he would do if he was able to play.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Well, and he's playing for a team that probably there's
not a lot of incentive.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
Now there's really not, which sucks for him, right.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
You're like, what kind of incentive would you have here?
You were playing in, you know, in a place that
just doesn't seem to care.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
Well, and like how much stock you put in playoffs
because he's played in one playoff series his entire career.
That's crazy to me, I.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
Think in baseball, I don't. I don't in baseball because
it's so hard with like his you know, Felix never
pitched in an end playoff game, right, and let's just
use him for an example. That's not his fault. I mean,
he did everything he needed to do.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Great example is Ernie Banks. He was probably one of
the best shortstops of all time. Never played in a
playoffs play some entire career.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
Yeah, yeah, And that's and that's the thing, Like you
can only as a as one of nine hitting in
a batting order, or one of five as a starting pitcher.
There's only so much you can do, even if you're
the very best, if you're the best pictuer in baseball,
the best hitter in baseball, doesn't matter. You're one of
nine to one of five. That's that's really that's hard.
So I wouldn't put a lot of stock into that.
(28:14):
But yeah, you know, in his body just it's weird.
His body just it's just unfortunately it's falling apart. Because
when he was right, he was he was special. And again,
you know, I the three m vps, thanks for having.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
Well the one question I had, I know a little late,
but no Felix in the starting five. I understand he
didn't have as.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
Long of a who would you replace Felix?
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Like, I mean you could argue you hid Santana as well.
There's some people on the text line saying they take
him over Granky, but Granky's is more longevity than anything
else he's been. He's been like he hasn't been a
peak of Felix, Rornandez, but he's been a like top
end starter for a long period of time and he
finally just finished that off.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
Well yeah, I because it's it's like anything else, just say, okay,
who do you take off? Yeah? Like like who do
you take off?
Speaker 1 (29:04):
The Felix and Johann Santana actually have a pretty similar
career arc where they were like the best pitcher in
the game for like a five year stretch, but then
after that it just falls off completely.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
I'm just looking here because I think the Zach Grienk
one would be the one. Maybe, Yeah, would that be
the one? Uh? Is there?
Speaker 1 (29:24):
He just he just did it for so long, man.
I mean he won a SI Young in two thousand
and nine with the Royals.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (29:29):
He's top ten in sing voting in one two three.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Longevity comes into play exactly. He's got the same number
of Young's as Felix. Yes, and but he's pit He
pitched along.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
But Felix should have two. Let's be completely honest with ourselves.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
I wonder if that'll come up when Felix is up
for the whole.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
I really, I really hope they recognize. I think he's
getting like some nerdy Uh well, I mean there's kind
of two Hall of Fame voters. You got the traditional
accounting stats guy and then the nerdy like, oh, this guy,
you know, deserve way more praise than he got at
the time. And there's a lot of people in Felix's
camp on that one.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
All right, we got a little quick daily power play
coming up. Some kracking news that just came down just
a couple of seconds ago. We'll tell you what that
is coming up next. Malkin Street's wanted.

Player home with the crack in brought you by our
good friends at Isakuahanko. We'll tell you about them in
a second. In the meantime, I need a little help,
Anders Can you tell me when and where we're carrying
Stanley Cup playoff games this weekend? Let me look all
(30:49):
right in the meantime before you get while you look
for that some kracking news. Tyson jug Nath was signed
to a contract today. Was the fourth round draft pick
in twenty twenty two. Played for the Portland Winterhawks and
was named the defenseman of the Year in the Western
Hockey League. Had a really nice season eighty nine points
in the regular season as a defenseman, and in the
(31:09):
playoffs he cranked it up another notch. Was basically just
on fire thirty three points in eighteen playoff games. Signs
a two way deal. He'll be in Coachella Valley next season.
Interesting signing from this standpoint, twenty twenty two means they
had to sign him this year or he would just
become a free agent. You don't have to sign your
draft picks in the NHL. They waited to see what
(31:31):
he would do his final year, and he just had
a terrific season. Was committed to go play college hockey
somewhere in the Big Ten, I believe if he didn't
sign with Seattle, but he does sign with the Kraken,
so good on him. That's the hard thing with the
NHL draft. Guys are drafted at such a young age
and it sometimes takes a couple of years to develop
and maybe get better. And you have a couple of
years to side, and they saw enough of him to
(31:53):
get him signed. I think there was a question about
that at Christmas, remember talking to some guys in Portland
about that, And good for Tyson he gets signed to
an NHL contract, three year entry level deal. Also, before
we get to the other stuff with the games are
carring this week, Okay, give you, let me give you
this real fast, really cool thing. And I was surprised
(32:14):
by this. I probably should have known better, but I didn't.
For the first time since nineteen thirty three, the United
States of America America America, Great Country, Great Hockey team.
They won the gold medal at the International Ice Hockey
Federation World Championships, the IIF World Championships. We've talked about
it before. It's kind of a different thing. World Championships
take place during the Stanley Cup playoffs, so you get
(32:35):
a bunch of guys playing for all countries that either
don't play in the NHL European wise, or maybe they
are NHL players or teams that make the playoffs, including
three members of the Kraken Matty Beneers, Mikey Asimont and
Joey Decord, all part of Team USA's gold medal, the
first one since nineteen thirty three. Tage Thompson, a Buffalo,
(32:56):
scored the winning gold called the Golden Goal, whatever you
want to call it, in Auckholm, Sweden, for a one
nothing win over Switzerland in overtime. Veneer's three and three
three goals three assists in ten games. Acymont had a
couple of goals as well a goal in a couple
of assists in nine games for TMSA. Decord was the
backup did play three games, was two and one, two
zero goals against the percent. She was not a goal
(33:17):
for the gold medal game. That was Jeremy swiming from Boston.
But Cord really played well. We did get an opportunity
over there. Adam Larson gets a bronze medal by the
way for Sweden over there, so cracking well represented, but
good for them along the way getting that gold medal. Okay,
what do you got for? Because we have a game.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
Tonight's game Dallas had Edmonton five o'clock on nine tonight
tonight and a game.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
Four that series, and our friends the Oilers trying to
take a three to one commanding league.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
Let's go Dallas. Okay. Thursday, same thing, Dallas Edmonton game five, Okay,
also on nine fifty. Then Friday Carolina Florida game six,
and uh, that's if say that's if necessary, I don't
know for carrying game five for Carolina Florida. Okay, but
then what is that Friday? Is that on Saturday? That's
(34:10):
also on nine to fifty. But then Saturday Dallas at
Edmonton game six if necessary on ninety three point three,
And I will.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
Point out that on the Florida Carolina series. That's our guy,
Johnny Foresland's doing those games. Yes, so on on the
on the network. So if you are tuning in and
listening and it's John Fororesland, I'm trying to think who
he's doing with. I know nick Olecheck's on them. Oh,
Jim Fox from my LA, that nice color guy. That's it.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
That's a good booth right there.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
Yeah, and Nicky Olchick's doing the stuff on the on
the sideliner between the benches. So our old friend who's
now in Utah. So there you go. You can go
check that out. So we'll have those games for you
here on the Home for the Cracking. All right, our
friend John Lunt, the wacky guy from the Bay Area,
as a little promo said that I heard earlier today.
Did you hear that? P Have you heard that promo?
Speaker 1 (34:53):
I have not actually heard it.
Speaker 2 (34:54):
I need pretty funny. Just you go listen to that
and queue and the break. It's pretty good. Yeah, John

Chill Ems dropped three to four to Houston over the weekend.
They lost the last game they had, which was Sunday,
that matchup against the Astros. They were off yesterday. They're
back in action tonight. Three games set versus the Nationals
of Washington. That's a six to forty first pitch for Seattle. Tonight,
MS one and a half up in the Al West
(35:38):
over the Houston Astros NBA last night thunder taking commanding
three to one series leader. We're in Minnesota, Timberwolves with
their win last night, Nickson Pacers Game four tonight, Pacers
lead that series two games one. Stanley Cup Playoffs. Hurricanes
beat the Panthers three. Now think get their first Eastern
Conference Final win since June first of six I think
fifteen straight losses in the Eastern Conference Finals. That's the
bad news. Good news is you've had fifteen games in
(36:00):
the Eastern Conference Finals. Okay, let's talk being greedy. Swept
by the Penguins, Bruins and Panthers Before that Oiler Stars
game four tonight, Oilers lead the series two games to one.
That game up in Edmonton, Alberta City champions provincial capital
of Alberta. A man has been arrested on suspicion of
attempt to murder after the car they literally drove collide
with pedestrians shortly after Liverpool's Premier League victory period Sunday.
(36:22):
They say it was not an act of terrorism. One
more hockey note, Tyson Jugnaf from the Port Winderhawks signs
a three year contract with the Seattle Craken entry level
deal for him and the Seattle Storm are in action
tonight five o'clock, taking on the Minnesota Links. In Minnesota
Links undefeated at four and oh they have the leading
scorer in the league, a Fista Collier who's averaging almost
thirty points a game. Storm and won three straight games
(36:45):
as well. Sounders Back to action, Tomorol. But Jackson'll tell
you about that starting at three o'clock, right, Andrews? Is
that right?
Speaker 1 (36:50):
I believe, so we'll wait to see if that's the case,
but I would assume so.

All Right Hour number two, Welcome back in Sports Radio
ninety three point three KJRFAM, the Internetz with you and
our weekly visit. Man. I heard a promo on our
station today for this, and like every radio talk show host,
well not everyone's, because some guys get lots of love,
but a lot of us are just kind of a
little bit whiny with the following. We want our shows
to be promoted by the radio station. We want to
(37:37):
hear our promos running, Hey, join us and Nielsen. I
feel and this is probably me being whiny. I feel like, man,
I don't hear a lot of the Infernest show promos.
I don't hear a lot with Ian and Anders and Jess.
I hear a lot of stuff with Softie. I hear
a lot of stuff at the morning show. I don't
hear a lot of stuff with Us. I'm driving today
and I hear the following Join Ian with John Lund.
(37:58):
They make him whacky in the bear at two o'clock today.
So apparently, you, sir, are the one that finally got
us a promo on the show because you're that big
of a deal. How are you?
Speaker 6 (38:08):
Yeah, you know, I used to do mid Days and
you know what it is, you're kind of it's like
getting seated in that restaurant. Nice restaurant, but you're seated
next to the bathroom in the kitchen or something like that.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
That's USA.
Speaker 6 (38:16):
I fear your pain. I used to do mid Days,
but then I broke out of that, and now I
get promos on your station. It's that that sounds appropriate
to me. I've always I've always been much more talented
than the slots they put me in. Yeah, I'm not
so sure, but yeah, that's that sounds right that it
it took me to get a promotion for your show
away from Softie and drive time shows.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
You know what's crazy. I've done mid Days like forever,
like now that I think of it, I've I did
well because when I first got into business, I was
filling in at the fan in Salt Lake and Locke,
David Locke would just put us wherever, and then you
and I did a show for a while, and then
I did a show. Then you you left me, uh
to do mid Days with somebody else and and uh
(38:56):
with the old was the old Guy's name? He was awesome.
Remember the old even show with who is the Old Guy?
Speaker 6 (39:02):
Though I've done it shows with old guys. You talk
about great.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
Pop, but that's all But in Salt Lake and then
I was doing with the late great Steve Kloukey in
mid days. But I think it's caause I've always had
another job, right, Like I've always had something else I
had to do, Like I had to go do hockey
back in Salt Lake, and now we're doing Cracking or
Fox thirteen. But yeah, I like middays. Man, It's just
not a lot of pressure.
Speaker 6 (39:23):
You know, Hey, it's the best. The guys who do mornings,
they might get paid more, but they gotta get about
like three thirty. They're gonna die at fifty. I mean
it's it's mid days is great. You get enough rest.
You know, they don't really bother you unless you can
start making too much money, you know, and then they're like, oh,
okaying midday is at But generally speaking, it's it's a
great day. Part. Stuff happens during mid days, like the morning,
(39:44):
not as west evening. Right in the middle of the day,
constant news breaking guys signing cops like oh even oh,
and guys get so mad the morning. Guys, we're you know,
three thirty morning and we never get breaking news. It's
the best from that standpoint. Yeah, you don't get paid
as much of your wife, Mike come Lane, but it's
a nice stay part.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
That's why I have a second job. That's that's why,
that's why. Yeah, exactly. Hey, I look at as like
we're the eight or nine hitter man low expectations. Just
just get through it. You just kind of get through
the day along the way. Uh, John joining us speaking
of is it you know what you can kind of
hide here and then the problem is we'll end up
(40:23):
happening along the way. Is it like I'll get higher
or like you know, like like you like all of
a sudden you're making too much money and then they
fire you, and then you end up doing your own show,
like and that looks like a ton of work, and
I really want no part of that. I'm in the
part of the part of my life. Yeah, I don't know, man,
I You've got graphics and all kinds of stuff on
John Lundon leashed. You know, you got people in Seattle
bothering you every day.
Speaker 6 (40:46):
Not to go on a tangent here, but it's like
it used to be so nice, just like to do
what you do, which is you do your show and
then you don't get me wrong, you work hard and
you always have, but you go and it's hard for
me to give you compliments. But then you got to
do how you get Like, man, the minute I would
go in, I got to a point where I was
going in. Maybe that's why I got fired now I
think of it. I would go in a minute before
and leave a minute after. Now I've worked between those times,
(41:07):
which people don't think you do. But man, it's it was.
That's a nice gig. That's not something it is.
Speaker 2 (41:13):
There is a little bit there is a little bit
of prep work before you go on the air, and
there is a little bit of stuff going on. But
I'm like you, I'll tell you right now. And you
were the best example of this because like like at
three o'clock hits, I'm out of there, man, because if
they're gonna urf me, I don't want to just you know,
do it before the show.
Speaker 4 (41:29):
You know.
Speaker 6 (41:30):
Happened to me too, a wonder like foss watch to
see like god, it was a little here.
Speaker 2 (41:36):
Well, that ruined it too, because the better thing would
have been to come in the next day in your
key card not work right, Wouldn't that have been better? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (41:42):
Yeah, Now you s always do bits like that. Down
at Levi Stadium. I become a for a Niners game
and I clicked that thing and I go, oh, it
looks like I'm still employed. Then of course the next
day I wasn't employed.
Speaker 2 (41:51):
So they choke on me, John La Lisia, are we
kindred souls in terms of baseball lineups? I saw you
just killing the Giants line up the other day. And
and Andrews, you can relate to this because how many
we have a little text chain, John, the guys we
haven't called the Mulliwop guys, a couple of guys that
do stuff with us on Mondays. By the way, they'll
(42:12):
be on Wednesday. They basically just to give you a
little taste of what they are, John, if the two
old muppets to sit up high in the in the rafters,
you know, like just bitching about everything, Yeah, that's Nathan
Chris and so we have those guys. So we have
a we have a text chain. Andrews is on it
as well. Sometimes Jess is, but we have a separate
one without or just you know, just because it pisses
(42:33):
are off. But but we uh, but we we have
this thing. And I can't tell you how many times
I get a text friend and that's of the golf
course the other day and the lineup came out for
their game in Houston, and I'm like, these guys, like,
what the hell is this lineup? What the Tacola Ray
you know? And I'm just like, and then I see
you yesterday. You're killing the Giants. The giants pretty good?
What's going on?
Speaker 6 (42:53):
Okay? There, they are good. But here's the thing. They
have a first base when who they refuse to take
out of the lineup? I swear he has make pictures
of people that are very high up in the organization.
He's hitting one sixty. Okay, the Mendoza line and everybody
in Seattle noses, but nobody else does. Was named after
Mario Mendoza, the short former shortstop of the Mariners. He
can't even see the Mendoza line. He's hitting one sixty
(43:16):
and it's not early anymore, everybody. We're one third of
the way into the season and he's hitting one sixty.
And he's their regular first baseman, their catcher who his
greatest skill is to frame pitches. Great, he's hitting one
seventy six. He can't see the Mendoza line. And the
guy that they gave all this money to you in
the offseason, Not that everybody cares about the Giants, but
(43:37):
it has to do with the Mariners is hitting two
o six. And they're one of those market teams that,
even though they're not small a lot like Seattle, if
they make a mistake like that, they won't it'll scare
the hell out of them and they won't sign another one.
So they have basically in their lineup. I'm not even
kidding you. It's like me in Lialy. You have those
automatic outs at the bottom of the lineup, and everybody
(43:58):
dirty Lucchen's like, oh my god, LUN's gonna hit. It's
the bottom of the order. We suck, We're done. They
have three players at the major league level who are
automatic outs, one sixty and a one seventy six hitter,
and they keep running them out there every day. And
it's like Buster Pusey is the best first baseman in
their organization, and he's their president of baseball operations.
Speaker 1 (44:20):
He didn't even play first base.
Speaker 6 (44:22):
Seriously, he could change out of his suit in the box,
walk down and hit much better than one sixties. I
mean one sixties.
Speaker 1 (44:31):
And you know what that sounds like.
Speaker 2 (44:32):
I'm just waiting for you to jump in, Andrews.
Speaker 1 (44:33):
Who is It's Donovan Sono and Mitch Garver.
Speaker 2 (44:36):
It is and Mitch Garver. It's literally the same thing.
We're the same.
Speaker 6 (44:40):
We're the same. In fact, one thing I was going
to ask you today, I like Dave Chappelle, Hey, you
got more of those Mitch Garvey Mitch Hanniger trades and
then Ray seven to zero with a two fifty seven.
Speaker 1 (44:53):
Please don't run it in my god Like it's like
I thought.
Speaker 6 (44:57):
Only the Giants made those trades, but apparently the Mirrors too.
Speaker 2 (44:59):
No, that's that's that's that was brought up. That was
brought up on the on the texting. Yet was it yesterday? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (45:06):
Because not only did we lose a star, yeah, not incredible.
Not only did we lose the trade for Mitch hanigher
the first time when we traded him for Katel Marte,
who is now the best second basement in the game.
When we brought him in, we traded it for him
again and got rid of Robbie Ray, and we lost
that trade.
Speaker 2 (45:23):
I don't know how.
Speaker 1 (45:24):
Jerry Depoto doesn't had no idea.
Speaker 6 (45:26):
So let me get this straight. They tell Marte and
Robbie Ray for Mitch Haniger.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
Yes, on two separate trades.
Speaker 6 (45:37):
Yeah, right, two separate trades. But my I mean, seriously,
you somebody's got to look this up. That has to
be it combined in two separate trades, maybe the worst
of all time.
Speaker 2 (45:47):
Yeah, I mean seriously, but their first place, guys, the
first place, what do you bitch it about it?
Speaker 6 (45:53):
There?
Speaker 1 (45:53):
In first place that you know, losing doesn't feel good.
Speaker 6 (45:57):
Might get it, but it's it's still painful.
Speaker 2 (46:01):
It's the Robbie Ray thing. Did he get a win
yesterday or Sunday when lost out? Okay, that's that's what
because that was the red. That was the random text
I got, And it was just like just killing the
Hanniger trade again, and I'm like, what's going on? I
wasn't because shockingly, on a long weekend, when I've got it,
you know, I'm smoking a pork butt and I've got
(46:21):
some friends coming over. I'm not worried about what the
san Francisco Giants and Robbie Ray are doing. But luckily,
that's why I have Nathan, Chris and Anders and they
pointed that out to me, and now it all, Now
it all makes sense. I've connected all the dots. And yes,
that was an awful trade, but Mitch was so popular
with all the fans they love.
Speaker 1 (46:38):
We literally have nothing for that trade, so I know, wow.
Speaker 2 (46:42):
That's But except for the memories of Cotell Marte and
Robbie Ray. When Robbie Ray gets to start in the
All Star Game, that'll really feel good.
Speaker 6 (46:49):
He's their best picture. He love the best pictures on Ashley.
But you already knew that well.
Speaker 2 (46:55):
And but here's the thing. They had so many good
pictures they you know, you could make a movie. Well
wait a second, they're on the d L around the
injur list. I'm sorry, we can't call it d only
Mark I L on the I L. They're on the
I L these days, John John Lonn at least joining
us as weekly visit. Yeah, uh, sponsor it, give us
a call sponsor this thing. Let's let's let's go. We
should get this thing sponsored. Kind of like the text line, uh,
let's uh on a pivot. I brought up this at
(47:17):
the start of the show today, John in the one
o'clock hour. I've I've just come to the conclusion it's
going to happen. These these tools in the dust bowl
land of Oklahoma City. They're gonna win this thing, aren't they.
I've come to that conclusion. I watched, I watched most
of the second half last night, and I've come to
that conclusion. I think it's it's a foregone conclusion. Buddy.
Speaker 6 (47:36):
Yeah, you know what stinks is you're really between a
rock and hard place. Because I'm West Coast my entire life.
You are too. A lot of people in Seattle. I mean,
I know there's people who transplant, but I think by
and large we can say this there's a massive East
Coast bias. And so what you've got to do is
because I don't think India can beat them. And by
the way, I am a conspiracy theorist, and I doubt
that the NBA is going to allow in in in Indiana.
(47:57):
Oklahoma City h NBA Final, We'll see they deserve and
it would be the lowest rate of all time. No
one's going to watch that thing. But if Oklahoma City
makes it I think the Knicks are going to make it.
So therefore, people on the West Coast who hate the
East Coast from a sports standpoint would have to root
for the New York Knicks. I mean that would be painful.
So I think the Knicks are the only thing that
(48:18):
could get in the way of Oklahoma City or else.
This is painful. And you know what, I defended your
fine city. The other day. I was on a rant.
I was on a show, a TV show actually here
in the area, and I said, stop it because it's
a post game show for the playoffs. And I said, stop.
These aren't the Sonics like they were. They were making
reference during the game of the last time they want
to title Oklahoma City or the last or these stats
(48:39):
or this and that, And I'm like, wait a minute.
You didn't have Fret, you didn't have Downtown Freddie Brown,
you'd have slick Watch. You have Dennis Johnson, you have
Lonnie Shelton, I can keep going. You have Jack Sick.
I mean, come on, man, you have Wally Walker like that,
that wasn't you that You're you're Oklahoma City. You're You're
not Seattle, you know, Like that's the one thing they
have got to take one hundred for they've got to
(49:00):
take a team's past and they that cannot travel. Like, Okay,
you stole the team. That's bad enough, but you don't
get our legacy with that. I mean, that was that
was driving me crazy the other night.
Speaker 2 (49:11):
Banners are still here in the they were they were
being shown in the Museum of History and Industry. I
think it was they're they're here, we get it back
when when we get the team back is what is understanding.
So if that's the case, we can just ignore this
because yeah, I'll say one of my favorite people of
all time was Dennis Johnson was DJ he I mean,
he was the finals MVP in seventy nine and like
I do not want to see hey SGA joins Dennis
(49:33):
Johnson as the m vps for the Sonics.
Speaker 6 (49:35):
And that's what they were doing.
Speaker 2 (49:37):
The man No, And and you know, when I watching
them last night, I'll give them credit. I mean, first
of all, I said, it's four one conclusion. Their ability
to finish in the fourth quarter is amazing. They did
it in Game two as well. I think it was
Game two was the kind of got closed for a
little bit in the fourth quarter. Yeah, and it was
(49:57):
they got within like I think that the Wolves got
with Wolves got with him like four or five in
that fourth quarter in that game too, and then they
just they just don't miss. They just they closed the
team out last night they got within two, and I'm
walking through it like they they went they shot sixty
five percent from the field, did that the thunder in
the fourth quarter? You know, they shot fifty percent from
(50:20):
outside the arc in the fourth quarter. And I mean
and their ability to play defense, I mean they are
They're as good a close out team as Riz and
then Aunt decides he's gonna take what ten shots the
entire game like.
Speaker 6 (50:30):
It was then, yea, was terrible.
Speaker 2 (50:32):
What's wrong with this guy? Come on, man, we're depending
on you and Rudy go bear for goodness sake. So
that just ki'd it was terrible.
Speaker 6 (50:38):
As you were talking about that, and you probably had
this conversation before, but it struck me as I'm sitting
in the Bay Area and I'm assuming we're kindred spirits
when it comes to the Giants and the Mariners, that
they're very similar organizations, but obviously we have this rivalry
and it's not what it was with Pete and Jim Harbaugh.
Maybe one day it will be again. Get McVeigh out
of the way and everything and we can have our
(50:59):
San Francisco see a rivalry back. But do people hate
me under more than they hate the forty nine ers
that under are public enemy number one right in Seattle?
Speaker 2 (51:09):
Yeah? Yeah, I think so, I think Okay for me? Yeah,
for me, yes, you know, I that's a great question. Yeah,
I don't think. No, the Astros don't rank asigh as
those two, not even close. No, No, because you know
we haven't. You know, they they had the one playoff
series and that wasn't really competitive. I mean you had
(51:30):
a lost games.
Speaker 6 (51:31):
Enough history.
Speaker 2 (51:32):
Yeah, and yeah they'd cheat and stuff, But most of
those guys are gone. I would say right now, it's
it's probably a push between Oklahoma City and the forty
nine ers with forty if Oklahoma City gets the finals
and a few more people start paying attention around here,
uh to their what we call sports porn. I never
watched the NBA. Yeah you do. It's like porn. You do?
You watch it one hundred percent? Watch it like you're
(51:53):
watching it. I see the TV numbers. You're watching it
here in Seattle and you're running hard against them. But
it's a good call. I think the four nine ers
are still public enemy number one year round, right, Like
the NFL is so.
Speaker 6 (52:04):
Big, that's that's the problem is, like you said, until
until Seattle gets the NBA back, which happened shortly, then
that it might heighten up because like you said, I,
if you don't have it in your market, it does
kind of take a back seat a little bit. And
obviously the NFL is king. And I can say this
from having worked in about a million different markets. The
NFL is king in every city that there's an NFL team.
It just doesn't matter. It's a matter of okay, if
(52:26):
your team's making a big run to the finals or something,
then okay, that's fine. You know, they for a for
a short period of time, like here for example, even
when the Warriors rather height with Steph Curry and everything
like that, Okay, they they jumped ahead a little bit
in the race, but then the Niners just come right back.
It's just it's an NFL city's and we're different in
that we're not a college city at all, like cal Stanford.
(52:48):
Nothing college works here and like unlike Seattle, but the
NFL is king there. I'm assuming like it is here,
even though every once in a while, like a team
can make a run like Washington did to the I'm
sorry to tell you, but a couple of years ago
to the National Championship Game or whatever. But then they'll
they'll take their rightful place behind the NFL. So maybe
people don't hate until, like you said, here's Oklahoma City
(53:10):
going to the NBA Finals and you sure as hell
don't want to see, you know, I'm sorry to say this,
but Clay Bennett and and and Olahoma City win a championship.
Speaker 2 (53:17):
No, but you know, like the forty nine Ers, I
think the forty nine Ers Seahawk rivalry is. I think
it just it stands the test of time because it's
gone from Harbaugh to you know, you had four or
five coaches, including the porn star he at Ron Bergey,
Ron Jeremy for a while. What was that guy's named
Thomas Sulo.
Speaker 6 (53:37):
That yeah, Jimbob Sula. Oh my god, he was a
little unqualified head coach. Ever what.
Speaker 2 (53:44):
But you've gone from like, you know, Harbaugh to those
guys and and then obviously now you've got you've got Shanahan,
and I think hateful.
Speaker 6 (53:51):
He can be a hated figure. I could see that
just from Kyle's a really great guy.
Speaker 1 (53:56):
But but if you work because they're.
Speaker 6 (53:57):
Good, a Niner fan or whatever, you wouldn't like him, no.
Speaker 2 (54:00):
Because they're good and and you know, and over the years,
you know, I think even I just think, I just
go back to going to games and covering games at
Levi Stadium and Candlestick, but Levi's recently, and then obviously
the games here in Seattle the last few years. There's
a lot of our fans will go down to San
Francis or Santa Clara, a lot of your fans roll
into town here. So there's an atmosphere that's different. It's
(54:22):
different level atmosphere. You can see it on the players too,
I think, you know, I think Seattle, even though everyone's
kind of changed over the years, the forty nine ers
have you know, the Kittle and those guys have been
around for a while. But you see that. You see
it on the field too, like you see the talking
go it does. It's funny. The Rams are kind of
still the if probably you know, the Rams are still
(54:42):
the Rams, like you said, McVeigh, still there. I still
think that those two teams Seattle and San Francisco kind
of consider themselves the big dogs of the West period.
And and you see it on the field, and I
think the fans like that as well. Oklahoma City is
a different beast. They'll people are starting to pay more
and more attention. We just we just need get our
damn team back and we can forget about those guys.
You can move on and in a way, you got
(55:04):
the college Thing's interesting. I'm glad you brought that up,
because there's so much news in college football right now,
right like the whole CFPr, you know, and and you know,
if we're in the Southeast, or if we're like in
Michigan or you know, Ohio State, and you know, and
you you we worked in Detroit for a while. You
know what it's like back there. I mean, I assume
anything that that Michigan does an arbor's what an hour
and a half from Detroit, something like that, like that's
(55:25):
probably huge news. It's always been amazing to me with
with UH with Stanford and cal down there, and you've
told me this for years. Nobody cares. That's why I
couldn't understand why the ACC even one of those those teams,
because it's not like you get the Bay Area market.
Nobody's watching. No.
Speaker 6 (55:41):
Look, I did Stanford pre and post game, and it
was it was a ghost town. I mean it was.
Speaker 2 (55:44):
It was an absolutely nothing stream academics like you, buddy,
like that. You fit right in with that group, didn't you. Oh?
Speaker 6 (55:50):
Could oh I just get right in. I mean we
would we would have, you know, we'd have we'd sip
some tea and we would just talk and you know, I'd.
Speaker 2 (55:56):
Ha hang with Andrew Luck and we were just we
were playing.
Speaker 6 (55:59):
Nobody cares. And it's one of the weirdest dynamics ever.
Nobody cares about any of it. And again, look, there's
a lot of transplants everywhere.
Speaker 4 (56:05):
There's a lot of transplants here.
Speaker 6 (56:07):
It's just not something that we talk about down here.
Even though you know I'm huge into college football. I've
told you a million stories. I did pre and post
for the Ducks when they went to the National championship
in twenty ten. I almost got killed by Auburn fans
because I was talking trash on a big stage in
Scottsdale where the National Championship was, and they were trying
to get after my state. Like for a minute, I
was like, oh, yeah, the SEC really cares about college ball.
(56:29):
I mean, I love college football. I lived for on Saturdays,
but they just it's just not something that's done here
and so people don't pay attention to it at all.
But the NFL, like you just said, and you know,
one of the reasons why the Niners and the Seahawks
work is I don't know how this happened, but they
just play the same style. So Mike McDonald could come
in and Shanahan can come in, and you can do
(56:50):
and say whatever you want, but to a certain extent,
it's an incestuous relationship because the Niners player, the Niners
organization wants Seattle type of players and vice versa. So
they're looking the same kind of players. They want to
run the ball it's three yards and a cloud of dust.
They want to play top, they want to play physical.
The Rams are soft, their fans are Saft McVeigh is.
You know, he's a pretty boy. They all those different
(57:11):
things about the Rams. I mean, just like you said,
the Niners take over so far when they go down there,
it's a joke. I've been down to all those games.
Speaker 2 (57:18):
This is awful. There's that's the worst place.
Speaker 6 (57:22):
Don't travel anywhere. They don't travel. The Rams don't even
have fans, they don't they don't even have I don't
think they have fans. I really don't remember the last
where they like put people in there or something.
Speaker 2 (57:32):
They do. Rams rules in Saint Louis the last couple
of years, telling people when to cheer and when not
to cheer, and you know, when to get and they
did you know the coliseum when to get there. It's
just it was, yeah, it's It is funny though, because
you think about the parallels are amazing because because Harball
and Carroll, they wanted to run the ball. You don't
play play it just in your face, intimidating defense and
run it and smash it down your face. Which is
funny because now Harbad does that in Michigan, which is like,
(57:54):
you know, compared to the rest of college football, spread
it out, spread it out. No, we're gonna we're gonna
go back to old school. McDonald wants to do that.
He's a defensive first guy. I mean, you think, who
are the key players over the histories, both teams have
had iconic middle linebackers. You guys are on your second
one right now. You went from Willis to to Warner.
You know, Seattle had Bobby for you know, twelve years
or whatever it was. I mean, it's just there's a
(58:16):
lot of similarities, and it's hard when you look in
the mirror and you see the same thing. It's that's
why always say you love this. I'll wrap it up
with this. It's it's why Oregon Washington fans hate each
other because they look in the mirror and they say,
they say the same person. It just what happens to
be we're in green, what happens we're purple, They're the
same damn fan just absolutely clueless and you know over
in flamed egos. So that's it's it's you know, if
(58:38):
you would turn that into you like that? All right?
On that note, On that note, I better go because
I'll be in big trouble. Let's do this. Let's tell
people about John Londa Leash and I love I do
love the fact all joking aside that we got a
bunch of our listeners on this show that are tuning
in to see what you got going on.
Speaker 6 (58:54):
Yeah, it's really been cool because of that, Because of
what we do together every week, I constantly am getting
from Seattle, and they're giving me grief. It's really cool.
So John Londonunleashed on YouTube, John Londunleashed dot com website,
check it out and much appreciate.
Speaker 2 (59:07):
It as always.
Speaker 6 (59:08):
And I'd love having them up here, man, because it
brings differing opinions and people mix it up. It's a
lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (59:12):
I can't wait till football season. It's gonna be fun.
Like it's like, it's gonna be fun, it's gonna be bad.
How about when how about when the Giants and the
Mariners in the World Series together? Even better, let's gonna
be good. Robbie Race starting your city, Robert, Robbie Race
starting Gate Game one. Yeah, I can't wait for that.
That'll be fun. We'll bring up the trade again. Have
(59:34):
a great week, buddy. I'll talk to you next week.
Speaker 6 (59:36):
Thanks man.
Speaker 2 (59:37):
There you go, John Line will take it. Look at
the text line next four nine, four five one. Send
us a text your thoughts, commons, questions, and concerns. Will
do that next night. Three point three k DFM.
Speaker 7 (59:49):
Podcasting live from the R and R Foundation Specialist broadcast studio.
Now back to Ian Fornz, powered by Seattle's Closest Sportsbook,
Snow call me Casino Sports Radio three point three kJ
r FF.
Speaker 2 (01:00:06):
All right, welcome back to thanks to John Lyne andrewsi
wud turned the music down just for a second. We'll
get to text in a second. I do want to
address one little thing here. Jessman hasn't been with us
for a few days. She went back home last Thursday
or I guess Friday morning. And the reason is, and
she made this public on social media. Chatted her with
(01:00:28):
her this morning and she said we could go ahead
and talk about it on the radio so people know
because she'll be gone for a while. Tragically, her sister
Caitlin died last Thursday at the very young age of
just thirty eight years old. She was at work. She
has two young children, and she died suddenly and unexpectedly.
(01:00:49):
And so Jessaman is back with her entire family back
in New York. They have services coming up both Wednesday
and Thursday this week as well, and so they're gonna
lay Caitlin to rest at that point in time. But
it's obviously a really difficult time for Jessamine and her family.
So her and her husband Mike are back there spending
(01:01:09):
time with her family. She's doing I think a little
better now, just judging from the conversations via text I've had.
We haven't bothered her a lot. It was a real
sudden thing that happened, and she found out about it
on Thursday, and I know our management did their best
to help her get situated and get her back there
(01:01:32):
and get her back with her family and giving her
the time that she needs. So she'll be gone for
a couple of weeks, but really tough, got thirty eight,
two young children. It just reminds you again, life is
very short, Life is very fragile, and take every day
and use the best you can along the way, because
something like that can happen. And I know for Andrews
(01:01:54):
and I especially that work with Jess so closely every day,
it's been real hard. You know, we've kind of given
her space, haven't wanted to reach out. I kind of
waited until she reached back out to me. We kind
of were talking and texting, going back and forth on
Thursday Friday morning when she was heading back, and then
let her have the weekend. But she reached out to
me this morning and said to go ahead and mention
(01:02:15):
it on the airstin She had posted a couple of
things on social media, so I really thought to go
out to her entire family. I know they're very close
back there, and especially for Jess having to you know,
being across the country and having to deal with it.
But I just thinking for two young children or two
just as niece and nephew and what they're going through
when they lose their mom, who was just thirty eight
(01:02:35):
years old. So thoughts go out you, Jess, we love you,
and get back soon, but get back when you're ready
to get back. In the meantime, we will hold down
the fort. I appreciate Andrews today. You know, he's got
double duty. You're hosting a show with Jackson later because
Dick's doing a storm game early and saft he's still
in Greece. So but the one thing about this place
will always kind of pick up the slap make sure
everybody else is able to take care of what they
(01:02:56):
need to do personally. And so that's the most important
thing right now is her taking care of her family,
her parents and obviously her her extended family as well.
Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
The absolute least I could do. We love her, we
miss her, hope hopefully you know, being with her family
during this time is a way to kind of soften
the blow a little bit.
Speaker 2 (01:03:13):
Yeah, so we look forward to seeing her again, but
not for a little while. She'll be gone for a
couple of weeks, so not the normal VAK for VAK.
She's taking care of business at home, and we wish
her the very best. All right, let's get to a
couple of texts four nine four five one on the
still unnamed unrestricted free agent text line? Should we just
call it the Mitch Marner text line?
Speaker 4 (01:03:32):
Oh? I like that?
Speaker 1 (01:03:34):
Bring the let's raise funds from Mitch Martyr to Seattle
text line?
Speaker 2 (01:03:40):
Yes, let's do that, Yes, yes, yes, Oh, let's see.
Speaker 1 (01:03:50):
I got the first one here. This actually just came
in the problem with any rivalry with the Astros we're
talking about the teams we hate the most in Seattle
is that we might hate the Astros, but recent his
the Mariners have not been good enough for Houston to
hate us. Now. I may have a little bit too
personal of a connection to this. One of my best friends,
who follows baseball really closely, is a Giant Astros fan.
(01:04:11):
He's from Houston, and he says the team he haates
the most is Seattle and now maybe it's because he
used to live here and he knows a lot of
Mariners fans and we're in the division together. But I
think that rivalry's butting up a little bit. So I
don't know. Maybe it is a little bit like they
probably still hate the Yankees more and the Dodgers more,
but I think other than that, there were probably the
(01:04:32):
team that they hate the most at this point.
Speaker 2 (01:04:34):
But I don't know. Okay, let's see, respectfully, to Lon,
the Mariners and Giants are not okaps kindred spirit organizations.
Giants have three titles since twenty ten. Marrors have two
division wins since nineteen ninety five.
Speaker 1 (01:04:46):
Yeah, true, if you're talking historically, if.
Speaker 2 (01:04:48):
We're talking if we're just going through what the resume is, Yeah,
of course not. But I did think it was funny
because I was watching one of one of his podcasts
or shows, I guess live, and he's like just killing
their lineup, you know, and and and then at the
same time saying, how are we winning games down here?
And I'm thinking, sounds so similar. Wow, that's about as
familiar as it gets, is it not. Also, do you
(01:05:11):
imagine having lundon every week if if the Marriders and
Giants play in the World Series and probably the same
week as like there's a Seahawk forty nine or games,
let's go four to five. You of Oregon maybe the
most hated team by some in here. I think they're
getting that national following. Now, that's the thing Organ is.
(01:05:32):
I think that's why people hate them up here, is
because like it's cool to be an Oregon fan. Like
I remember when my kid was in high school, Like
it was cool. It was a lot cooler to be
an Organ fan than anything in our state. Like you
saw kids that were in high school had no connection
to orgon wearing Oregon gear. You still see that.
Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 2 (01:05:49):
They're pretty, They got the pretty stuff. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:05:51):
I try and not to think about them as much
as possible. So I'm gonna move on to the next text.
Six and he and I'd almost put Andrew Jones in
centerfield ahead of Mike Trout. Jones has won ten consecutive
goal gloves from nineteen ninety eight to two thousand and seven.
Trout has zero, and Trout's stats offensively are not much higher. Yeah,
(01:06:14):
Andrew Jones one of the most underrated players in MLB.
He's so good and he hits. He hit like fifty
bombs a couple of years. Like he's one of the
best defensive center fielders in the game. He doesn't get
talked about enough.
Speaker 2 (01:06:25):
So I love that.
Speaker 1 (01:06:25):
Shout three six up.
Speaker 2 (01:06:26):
Love it. Felix over Johan Santana hands down. One hundred
and forty more stars, seven hundred more innings. Is that true?
Speaker 5 (01:06:34):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (01:06:34):
Yeah, I think Felix, like in terms of just pure volume, yeah,
I had more, but as we know at post like
twenty sixteen, I want to say he kind of fell
off a cliff a little bit. It sucks because I
I Felix one of my favorite players ever, so I
wish he was kind of regarded in that same way.
But you have to look at the look at the
full volume of work.
Speaker 2 (01:06:54):
I do me a favor next week. Who did he
have in right field?
Speaker 1 (01:07:00):
Felix?
Speaker 6 (01:07:01):
No, no, she In?
Speaker 1 (01:07:04):
I mean what the foulfield was Bond's Trout? Who is
the third one?
Speaker 2 (01:07:09):
God? Who was it? Because he's cause a lot of
people say no e Tro.
Speaker 1 (01:07:13):
I yeah, I'd probably do Judge over e Tro at
that at this point, I did Trout Judge on that list. No,
I know so like, if you're gonna do su let me.
Speaker 2 (01:07:22):
Look, okay, uh five two six? As we see here today,
I can't take Andrew's trade offer for the first segment.
I've been trying to prep my emotions for that team
to win an NBA title for a couple of weeks now,
and every time I do, I get so mad and sad.
The thought of Clay been holding up that trophy makes
my blood boil. That's said to be fair. Ask me
in July if we get some good news on the topic. Yeah,
I think it'll put your mind at ease if if
it comes, but it better it better comes soon. Mookie
(01:07:42):
to get better really comes to who would Pokey beats?
Speaker 4 (01:07:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:07:45):
Yeah, Mookie, MOOKI deserves to be in there two uh
what three time World Series Champion now two time MVP
with two different organizations, Like he's he's he's really good
now is all of a sudden a shortstop and really
good at it, Like he's just one of the best
baseball players ever.
Speaker 2 (01:08:02):
Anders who the f wouldn't take the official expansion with
full history back for an OKC title? But always f Okay. See,
so there's two different two very different ones. One hundred
hundred with to the Sonics back of Okac wins the title.
All right, let's take a quick break, come back at
Crosstock with our afternoon drive show. You'll find out who
that is. But first, four nine, four or five? Oh yes,
(01:08:25):
two magic words? What are they? I got Mariner tickets
for the nice game. You want to go sit in
the sunshine and watch the Manorers kick the crap out
of the Washington Nationals four nine, four to five one?
Text in right now if you can go to the
game tonight. I got two tickets for you, great seats,
third baseline. You watch the marriage return home from a
nice six and four road trip. You want those tickets?
Text those two magic words. I'll just give you a hint.
(01:08:48):
It's in uh. It's in tribute to the new Kraken
player Tyson Jugnaff, who just got signed from the Portland Winterhawks.
Send those two words Internet right now. We'll give you
those tickets coming up.
Speaker 6 (01:08:58):
Next Portland suck.
Speaker 2 (01:09:13):
Alrighty, Then we're back hanging out having fun. It is
a I keep want to say Monday.
Speaker 1 (01:09:19):
After this, a Tuesday does feel like a Monday.
Speaker 2 (01:09:21):
Then, Hey, Andrews, by the way, Thursday not available. Okay, okay, uh,
look who's here, Ladies and gentlemen. Not in the normal
glass cage that is the producer's booth over there, Hi,
Jackson felts Ladies and gentlemen, Jackson.
Speaker 1 (01:09:37):
Felt mean, why am I not seeing your pretty face today?
Speaker 2 (01:09:40):
I just got some stuff going on. By Yeah. The
by the way, I'm excited for this, the Jackson Anders extravagancel. Yeah,
let's this.
Speaker 5 (01:09:51):
We have to we have to make sure to send
the disclaimer to everybody. This is not going to be
soccer talk for four hours.
Speaker 2 (01:09:57):
It's not.
Speaker 5 (01:09:57):
It's not just gonna be the phone. Yes, we have
Brian Schmitzer on five forty five, but it's not that's
a normal guess exactly. It's not the full soccer show
like some people might be expecting.
Speaker 2 (01:10:05):
Do just but like if anybodys are listening to Schmetz
or half the time, it's other stuff. It's mostly just
grab ass or him making fun of Softy and Fame.
Yeah exactly, so that's that's not a bit. Well, I'm
excited for you guys. Do the show. It'll be fun
and can I I do have a quick soccer question?
They played the moral right.
Speaker 5 (01:10:20):
They do yeah, five thirty Lumen kickoff a weirdly or
like a happy hour early game at Lumen.
Speaker 2 (01:10:25):
Is that like National TV, that's not something it's really
weird And they did this.
Speaker 5 (01:10:30):
I had a noon game on Saturday this last Saturday
too and at three o'clock gamelin Like they've they've really
been varying times over the last couple.
Speaker 2 (01:10:39):
The MLS not one to have success. Is that their thing?
Speaker 1 (01:10:41):
Like we oh man, it's it's frustrating.
Speaker 5 (01:10:44):
And I tell you what this is. I mean the
Apple deal. I hear from casuals every day of just
how like how hard it is to watch the team now,
and it's frustrating. I think it's it's really hurt the
casual fan.
Speaker 2 (01:10:54):
Well, I think the TV contracts just crushed them. It's
just really crushed him. It's you know, I've I've mentioned
many time times, you know, the Kraken, and I think
they're up to like thirteen teams in the NHL are
are have gone over the air. And like what I
mean by over the ear is like if like King Kong,
you know, et cetera, and a streaming option combined with that, right,
(01:11:18):
that's not costing you money out of pocket, Like it's
expensive enough to go to a game. To charge someone
to watch a game in any sport, is that's a
big ass.
Speaker 5 (01:11:27):
If the MLYS had done a thing where okay, we're
on you know, Apple TV, but if you already have
an Apple tc TV subscription, then you get the product
of the free charge exactly, but the fact that you
have to pay one hundred dollars for the season. Like, listen,
you're gonna get your you know, core three thousand season
ticket holders a game. You know, you're gonna get them
to put in the dollars for the year. But it's
it's the casuals they're like, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:11:49):
The NFL is a great example. The NFL is the
one lead they could do it. Yeah, Like they're the
one that because they went to Prime and they're the
ones that could go and say, okay, you got to
watch our Thursday night football and on Prime. Not only
do you have to have a Prime membership, but if
you want to watch you know this seventeen NFL games
on Thursday night on Prime, you then also have to
subscribe to this extra service. Right, the NFL didn't do that.
(01:12:11):
They're the ones that could do it, and they didn't
do it. That should be a pretty good little thing
to say Apple TV. If you want to watch Friday
night Baseball, right, it's it's on Apple TV. It doesn't
cost you more. I just I wish they wouldn't have
done that. But anyway, you guys aren't going to talk
all soccer. It's funny because like sometimes I love when
I get text. I like your show, but I just
(01:12:31):
don't like the fact you talk hockey for three hours.
I'm like three three hours.
Speaker 1 (01:12:34):
Yeah, segment we talk hockey list, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:12:37):
We like wait for four minutes. Usually won't relate to
a segment. But that's about it. People or something else
they are. What are you guys doing todayside?
Speaker 5 (01:12:46):
Schmetz, Well, there's obviously a baseball team to react to
a frustrating game like that, a Sunday game which now
feels like yesterday, because it does feel like a Monday.
So we'll talk about that h seahawk starting OTAs, we'll
have our normal phone with audio. Hey, ty Dane Gonzalez,
host of The Mariner Locked on Mariner's podcast, He's gonna
jump on four o'clock talks and ms uh.
Speaker 2 (01:13:06):
Ian feels like we've got a lot of locked on
Pot Mariner's podcast. Certain big element with that. Sorry we
we have you know, I think.
Speaker 5 (01:13:14):
We have to face the sad reality that we're gonna
about to see the thunder in the finals.
Speaker 1 (01:13:19):
So there's that's to address.
Speaker 5 (01:13:21):
John Wilner five o'clock, Brian Schmenzer five forty five. We'll
hear a little bit from Dan Wilson. Busy, busy show
taking us until seven o'clock.
Speaker 2 (01:13:29):
Jackson, it's it's a reality. It's happening right before our
very We need a miracle, boys and girls, we need
a miracle. Come on, pacers, come on, Nick. Yeah, oh yeah,
he's got a good question for you, Jackson. He'll got
a good question. He'll fire off at you as we
all right, I have a great show boy. See.
Speaker 5 (01:13:45):
Thanks for the mild mannered and marginally objectionably in forness.
Speaker 3 (01:13:50):
This is paddle day saying so long everyone,
