Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome in. Happy Friday everybody. Hello, Happy, happy, happy Crack
and have a head coach. We've got Dannie O'Neil coming
up at one point thirty. He found his kindred soul
out there along the way. We've got the dumbest thing
you'll hear coming up at one forty five. Daily power
play will be Jordan Eberley at two. By the way,
he's going to join us at two pm today, so

(00:20):
look forward to having that on the Captain Your Cracking.
He played for New Cracking head coach Lane Lambert. He
was an assistant coach when Jordan was playing for the
Islanders for a couple of years. So we'll have that
for you coming up today at two o'clock. Should be
a lot of fun, a good show coming up today.
We I believe we got like a special guest coming

(00:41):
in at two thirty. That's what yeah, I was telling
us yesterday.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Jackson kind of left it pretty vague. We got a
special guest, which is unlike Jackson to be honest, Chelsea
exactly what's going on.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Well, especially with something this important to him.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Yeah, but apparently we have two special guests. Oh okay,
one is the person the other is the item that
is with that person.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
God, this golf course is hard. Well, I call him
out morecle in our fantasy league this week. Yeah, he
just nothing like a chip to the green when you
miss the green and it comes right back to where
you were standing before. This is like the most relatable
golf golf tournament ever. Anybody who's played watched them morroa

(01:23):
this weekend. First of all, brutally hardcore. Second of all,
you're gonna see every these guys do stuff that we
do all the time, all the time. Yeah, and then
look up, I can't believe that just happened again, Yes
you can, most of us can. Let's get into little
bit earners real fast and then we'll move on the
postcast last night. Did Yeah, I didn't like getting called

(01:44):
out by Crawford.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
That wasn't me.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
No, I know, it wasn't you. I'm saying I didn't
like getting called out by Crawford.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
There.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
It's like giving me grief because I mentioned something. I
had the question on our group chat about, like why
did they yank Emerson.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
Hey after sixty five pitches?

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Right? And then that promptly resulted in to run lead
for the Washington Nationals now as Crawford pointed out, Hancock
didn't pitch well, was lucky just to even be in it.
Blah blah blah.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
His command was going. He walked the guy. That's why
we like Chris. You know, Skeeter is over there in
Mason County.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
That's all. He liked the guys. So I didn't like
that part of the Pop postcast last night, the one
of the I mean, you guys got into and I
would actually, I think it's a good listen for folks
maybe if you want to skip through, like the actual
game itself, because he went to like twenty eight minutes
last night. Yeah, but you brought up Harry Ford and
some of the things they could do, which I thought

(02:41):
was good. Let's just go down the road for a second.
Of So now you've lost two straight series, and one
somewhat forgivable, even though it's hard because it's the it's
the Astros, right, Yeah, but the other one to Washington.
You start seeing some blemishes along the way. You're three
of your key guys or Rosarina, Polanco and Julio were

(03:03):
combined oh four to thirteen last night.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
No, yeah, and most I don't think either of them
had to hit them. Not previous night either, so.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Well probably not you get shut out. Yeah, so yeah,
I mean there there are there are some issues with
this team, and they're starting to rear their ugly head
and they happen to be offense, right like, that's that's
that's the issue.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
We're going back to twenty twenty four. Ladies and gentlemen.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
It feels that way, doesn't it. Yeah, I mean it
does feel that way. The problem with it that I
see is that the easy fix isn't really easy. I mean,
Harry Ford's a fun thing, but you're talking about a
backup catcher and and what have you.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
The h Polanco doesn't look healthy.

Speaker 5 (03:44):
Man.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Okay, let's go down that first. Yeah, let's go down.
Let's go there for a second.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Okay, to bunt three times? So when the lineup came
out yesterday, you're on the air. Actually yeah, and Polanco
batting seventh.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
Oh weird.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
And he's batting seventh, Oh even weirder. He's going against
a lefty. Usually you know they'd take him out again, right,
so the left handed pitchers because he has had trouble
swinging the bat right handed. Uh yeah, that's still is
the case. The dude dropped tried to drop three bunts
in not bunting situations last night because he obviously can't
swing the bat.

Speaker 6 (04:14):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
Then my question is why the hell is he in there?
That's a great question, Okay, Like like why if he's
not healthy? Okay? One, health is really it's a relative term, right,
like it just is healthy not healthy? What have you?
Is he hurt? Is he injured? What is he? Because
if that's the case, then why is he in there? Like,

(04:36):
I know you're already banged up, but like this guy's
track record is is that you know a healthy Polanco?
If that's truly the problem, really good player? Yeah, not healthy,
not healthy? Ask yourself, why are you in there? The
grind of a hot Listen, we make fun of baseball players, sorry, Bucky.
They compared to other sports. I mean, if we're gonna rank,

(04:57):
let's go toughest to softest. I'm gonna go NFL, NHL,
or a push they're.

Speaker 7 (05:03):
Number one, depending on how you look at it, and.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Then baseball probably three, Basketball, NBA wis is four Okay,
load management, they'll just use those two words. Okay, So
they're not the toughest sometimes, but if you have like
a jammed finger, broken finger, whatever like something like that,
like a nagging something.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
Stay in the game after getting hit, right, But if you.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
Have something like that, it affects your swing. Like in football,
you just go, Okay, it's gonna hurt when I tackle whatever,
I just fight through it. And baseball it can affect
everything you do. And if it's affecting the performance of
your of you and your team, then the question would
be why is he in there? That would be the question. Yeah,
because he bunted in was it the ninth inning?

Speaker 4 (05:47):
He bunted it all but the last time?

Speaker 1 (05:49):
The last time? Yeah, it was ninth inning, right in
a tie game?

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Yeah, right, lead off batter, by the way, no one
on base, no outs.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
And he's not necessarily slow, but he's really not fast.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
You could tell because he did it three times. He's
just like, this is my best way of getting on
babis if I can't swing the back.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
If Revs or if Revos or more or one of
those guys lays a bunch down like okay, yeah, yeah
that makes sense. Yeah, this guy like you're slut. You
were leading the majors and slugging percentage above Aaron Judge
for a chunk this year and you're laying down a
bunch and.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
It's not like a sacrifice either that you're trying to
get the guy over the third it's your favorite thing.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
My absolute favorite thing.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Not so so here's let's just the seven runs they
gave up in the tenth inning. That stuff happens. The
umpire last night was awful, but he was bad both ways.
JP gets tossed. It's about pissed as I've seen a
Mariner in a long long time. JP was sideways, right,
just sideways. You could hear it on the broadcast. Ye,
he was not happy, which okay, and I we totally

(06:52):
get that. Like, I understand JP being mad. The guy
missed a call and it was a third strike. He
also missed two pitches JP did earlier in the bath
that were in the strike zone. Like so, like, okay,
it goes both ways. You might want to protect the
plate and I'm not ripping on JP here. Yeah. The
thing is you scored two runs and eighteen innings against

(07:12):
that team. You scored two runs and eighteen innings. That
is the problem. It's not Gabe Spire, it's not Colin
Snyder necessarily. The fact that you had to go to
extra innings against that team is the problem now, I
know Chris Bench. Last night, saverisas like lost out there
an outfield sometimes like it's it's it's a good night.

(07:33):
It was three for four, yeah, but it's quite. It's
quite the experience defensively, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
Yeah it is because sometimes you can make a pisce
and he threw someone out at home.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
It's not quite dominant can zone, but it's close.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Yeah, it's I think it's a lot better personally because
like there are times more athletic. Yeah, and there are
times where he looks like, oh that's a it's what
it looks like to me, and this is what is it?

Speaker 4 (07:52):
What it is?

Speaker 2 (07:52):
It's a center fielder that's a pretty good center fielder
that's trying to play right field and he's not used
to those angles and it's like a totally different position.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
They've lost three games in the standings of the course
of eight days, which it could be worse, could be worse,
twenty twenty four all over, right, Like it's it, it
could be worse. You're lucky because there's only one other
team in the division that's above five hundred, and that
would be Houston, but they sit a half game behind
you right now.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
Thank god they lost last night too.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
I know otherwise it would be you be in second place.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
The bigger issue for me, like, yeah, I get offense
has been bad like that. They're starting to revert back
to twenty twenty four, which is probably the biggest issue.
But I hate how damn it Dan Wilson's managing the
game right now.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
I really don't like it. The Munos thing.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Just through ten pitches.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
He put through twelve pitches on the top of the ninth,
but he hadn't pitched in six days. So this was
the other thing. In the last game of the Houston series,
they didn't use him on Sunday, right they brought in
I forget who it was. I think it was Casey
Legamina to close or to close it out, even though
they had a day off on Monday and he didn't
pitch on Saturday, so he hadn't pitched in six days.

(08:56):
You put out Munyos for the ninth inning in a
tie game. He gets through it one, two, three, like,
looks as dominant as ever. Then you take him out
in the top half of the tenth and you just
get absolutely shelled.

Speaker 1 (09:06):
And he's had and he's had two inning saves a lot.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Of times, like you put quick inning, not pitching in
six days plus, you need this win.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
This is this is you needed we win.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
Well, here's what's weird. You're treating munos with kid gloves. Okay,
and you're and maybe and there's a chance, I don't know,
we don't know. We're just speculating. There's a chance you're
rolling Planco out there when he's hurt. Yeah, Julio gets
nailed on the hand. We haven't heard anything yet today.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
Right, you're good. Yeah, you gotta run the basis no
one else plays center field.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Well you know what that's because that's who he is. Yeah,
because Julio is an absolute stud.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
He is a stuff.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Like he's just an absolute stud.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
Yeah, he's had a bad offensive game last couple of days.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
But but that guy competes, Yes, Like his level of
compete is really really high. Like he he easily could
have tapped out there, Yeah didn't because he's Julio. Yeah. Well, uh,
Minnesota's here. We talked about that with Eno Sarrus yesterday.
I got to get this one three games here and
then Baltimore rolls in Baltimore's having just a horrific season.
I mean, my god there. But what scares you about

(10:03):
that is that they're not that bad, are they? So
you don't want to.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
Buy their manager already though, So.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Yeah, you don't want to be like because Minnesota started
out what thirteen and twenty or something like that. This
season or seven and twenty or whatever the hell weather,
they're awful and they've cranked it up as Minnesota. Chuck
had a great point this morning in the Morning Shows, like,
don't look at the overall numbers for Minnesota, understand what
they've done a light lately because they were dead and
buried and now look at they're out right now right hot, Yeah,
all right, Danie O'Neill, we got a surprise for Danny.
He found his kindred soul. We'll have that for you next.

Speaker 8 (10:34):
It's time now for Danny O'Neal of The Dang Apostrophe.
The best Seattle sports writing you'll get out of New
York City, brought to you by Northwest Handling Systems from
Forklift to Pella, Jacks Conveyors, Toloading Duck equipment. We sell
random service all of your warehouse.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
He needs request quote.

Speaker 8 (10:52):
Today at NWS dot com or called for two five
two five five zero five hundreds.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Now here's he in with Daniel O'Neil joins us every
Friday afternoon. Hello, sir, how are you?

Speaker 9 (11:07):
I'm doing well, ian How about yourself?

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Very very good? Uh? Danny painted a lovely picture today.
I texted him, Hey, good to go today.

Speaker 10 (11:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
What'd you tell me in the return text? What were
you doing?

Speaker 9 (11:18):
I believe that I said, I have my Indiana Pacers
underwear strapped on, ready to go.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
Have you come to the conclusion that that it's over,
they're gonna win, that the Pacers are gonna win tomorrow
and we're moving on.

Speaker 9 (11:32):
I think so, although I haven't seen the referee assignments yet,
and it's very possible they will send Scott Foster to Indianapolis,
and he's known as the extender when you need a
series to get an extra game. And if we're gonna
see if Adam Silver's got that same sort of streaking
him that David Stern had, which is like, hey, you

(11:52):
know what, a Game seven wouldn't be the worst thing
in the world here for us. But I do think
the Pacers are gonna win if if the Knicks somehow
pull out the next two games, win the series, and
seven I will be down in the vicinity of Madison
Square Garden in all Sonics garb during the night during
the finals. I'm a little concerned if that were to happen, though,

(12:14):
people might think that I'm trying to do some sort
of throwback tribute, Like will they understand that I'm wearing
for the Knicks. Will they think that I'm wearing some
sort of like it's some sort of weird throwback tribute
to the Thunder.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
They may not understand because our friends at the Worldwide
Leader out of Bristols keeps, you know, reminding everybody that
the Thunder you know and do have a world championship
in nineteen seventy nine. They also went to the finals
in nineteen ninety six as well.

Speaker 9 (12:42):
You know, that's that's as Jackson Bevins pointed out, that's
stolen ballads that when it comes to our armed forces,
and there should be with regard to sports teams. To you,
you shouldn't be able to claim a title that your
team didn't win. And my belief that once you changed
the nickname, you lose all continuity. You you should You're

(13:06):
a different team entirely when you changed the.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
New Uh, I've got something for you. I'm gonna I'm
gonna play this audio courtesy of the dang Apostrophe. Uh,
Danny O'Neill found his kindred soul. Go ahead, Andrews, I
am in Eugene.

Speaker 11 (13:25):
And I'll tell you I was a little nervous about
this Eugene show because I have not said this yet.
And please don't hate me, but I what's the University
of Washington And and I'll tell you I love that
hate so much. That's why I respect organ fans, because
you hate me as much.

Speaker 10 (13:43):
As I hate you.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
That's a good kind of.

Speaker 10 (13:46):
You do.

Speaker 7 (13:48):
That's a good Bible ry right there.

Speaker 11 (13:50):
All right. Like I was thinking about this the other day.
I saw a quote from your boy uncle Phil. Phil
Knight said, right, he said, I'm gonna put every resource
I have in to winning a national championship before I die.
And this was an evaluation for me as a fan.

Speaker 4 (14:04):
And I was like, I'm not so petty that I
hope he dies.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
Before they win a national championship.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
I'm not that big of a monster.

Speaker 11 (14:14):
No, I'm so petty I hope they never win a
national championship and he lives forever.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Uh So, Danny, who is that Dustin Nickerson?

Speaker 9 (14:29):
And I will admit to feeling very ashamed that I
was not more familiar with his game and his work.
He's he's from Seattle, the Seattle area. I believe he
went to Decatur High School down in the South Sound.
He went to the University of Washington, as he said,
and he's a he's a Committian, and he lives in
southern California. He's got a book that he's written, He's
got a podcast that he hosts with his wife. He's

(14:51):
going to be performing at the Neptune. They're in Seattle,
the U District October twenty fifth. So yeah, I feel
that I have a very kindred spear that I've located.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
First of all, I think it's a good conversation because
as you would can imagine here in our city in
sports radio, but we've all kind of brought it up
over different times, and I'm sure every show on every
station has brought it up here, like, you know, would
you trade this for that? You know it's softies, you know,
favorite thing you can only have one, and you know
we're all kind of we're all trying to do deals

(15:25):
with the devil right now, kind of with the assumption
that the Thunder are going to win the title, right
that's all. We're kind of assuming that right now. And
with that being said, it's like, well, you know, would
you trade a Thunder title if it meant Oregon never
won a national championship? Or what's worse that or Oregon
winning or people I was asking to day, what's worse

(15:45):
the Thunder winning or the Husky's winning a National Football championship?
Sports hates okay, and I think that guy gives us
a great insight as to why.

Speaker 9 (15:54):
Yes. And I think the thing I like most about
it is that he's got a little twinkle in his
eyeties as he says it. He's in Eugene. They end
up clapping for his joke. It's a well executed joke,
but he's not entirely kidding.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
It's not it's not like what he's saying.

Speaker 7 (16:12):
It's like, oh, I'm just joking.

Speaker 9 (16:13):
It's like, no, I actually feel that way. Yeah, And
it's sports, so we can do that. Yes, Yes, I
do feel that if you told me I get a
choice of the Thunder never win an NBA championship or
the Oregon Ducks never win a national title. That would
be really tough for me, and honestly, I think I'd

(16:38):
probably go with the Thunder.

Speaker 12 (16:41):
And the reason the reason for that is that Oregon
I at least have the respect that they are a
separate institution with its own history, and there are a
lot of people that understandably feel very.

Speaker 9 (16:58):
Strong about it. Oklahoma City Thunder are entirely ill gotten goods.
They are that is a morally bankrupt organization from the outset.
And while I know that we're all kind of gearing
up for the possibility that the Oklahoma City Thunder will win,
I would like to point out that the most devastating

(17:20):
loss would be in the finals would be in Game seven,
in overtime of the finals. And while if you gave
me my choice, I always want the knocked out sooner
than later, because I don't ever want them getting this close.
I kind of feel like we're maybe shooting the moon
here in a game of hearts, and we're going for it,
and if it goes wrong, it's gonna be heartbreaking and

(17:42):
awful for all of us. But if we get it,
if we get it, this is gonna be glorious if
they lose in the finals as a favorite.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Oh, I got well two things won. Hearts, underrated game,
underrated card game. Absolutely. Yeah, that's a that's a back
before there were iPads and all that stuff. When I'm
riding a bus in the Western Hockey League and the
International Hockey League and the AHL, we played a thing
called Hearts all the time on the bus. It was fun.
That was great, but kids go find go google it

(18:14):
in fun fun game to play. Number two. The stress, Danny,
of getting to that point where like they're one win
away because at some point maybe like like Indiana has
to come back and win game six and to force
a Game seven. But we've all like the stress, we've
been through the emotional roller coaster. But there is god.

(18:40):
Oklahoma City losing at home in Game seven of the
NBA Finals would be maybe the most glorious thing ever.
That really would be.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
This is what Dick Fane does with the forty nine
ers every year. He's like, I want them to get
to the super Bowl and then choke.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
Yeah, I understand that feeling now, as Danny articulates, yeah,
I can you see Clayton Bennett sitting there and they're
a heavy favorite at home Game seven, and Haliburton and
company just go bananas, and maybe SGA doesn't shoot thirty
five free throws in a game and and they lose
it all. Danny, that'd be you. That's sports euphoria right there.

Speaker 9 (19:16):
Yes, it would the entire next year. Anytime I saw
the thunderplaying a home game, I would wonder if their
visitors locker room still like Champagne, would be fantastic. So
it is. It is a risk, and like I said,
I would never choose this. If you gave me, I'm
not Phone who's a big gambler, I would take the

(19:39):
I would have preferred that they were knocked out in
Game seven against the against the Nuggets. I would have
preferred that the Minnesota Timberwolves showed something approaching a backbone,
which they absolutely did not in a shameful display in
Game six that they should be absolutely embarrassed off. But
I'm not. I'm not fully I'm not fully willing to

(20:03):
give up the ghost and say, oh, I'm not prepared
for a Thunder victory. I'm absolutely holding out my beliefs
they're gonna lose.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
I I I'll please. The tradeoff, though, is interesting because
I mean, you're a Husky, Am mccoub we you know
we can coexist. But I'm the same way like I
you know, how miserable it would be for every Husky
fan if Oregon finally won a national championship in football,
and as I pointed out to one of our other
guys through the day, a national championship that would be

(20:31):
actually contended for now I've voted on, but there would
be well hell, I mean, if if Greg Sankey and
the SEC had their way and be like eighteen teams
and twelve of those will be from the SEC and
six of them will be from the Big Ten. But nevertheless,
it'd be a playoff. And if Oregon were to do that,
by the way, they won't, but if they were, if
they were to do it, that would be the war.

(20:52):
Like Husky fans would just be miserable. It would just
it's because it's it's the thing you have, right, Like, hey,
the O stands for zero in terms of national championship
all that, Like that would be I don't know what
you would do at that point, buddy, I don't know
what you would do.

Speaker 9 (21:06):
You would have to make some sort of grudging begrudging respect,
which I don't intend to do a fix.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
No, no, absolutely, I got to.

Speaker 9 (21:14):
Complain about their path.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
I will not.

Speaker 9 (21:16):
I will. You would have to provide some begrudging respect
to it, and it would you would lose your greatest
if you're a Husky fan. It's the one trump.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
Card you have, yes over the Ducks.

Speaker 9 (21:28):
It's the one thing you can play no matter what
they reference about their success or everything else. It's like, yeah,
you guys still haven't gotten.

Speaker 6 (21:35):
To the top.

Speaker 9 (21:35):
Like you, you still haven't. And I don't even have
to point to the bogus nineteen sixty national championship that
somehow is a fixed on our stadium, like we have
an actual national championship to point out too.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
I know for me this I bring this up. I
always laugh with people, go, God, you wonder why you
hate the Huskies because I went to Wazoo like listen,
like listen, dipstick. It's not a hard hard to figure out.
And most people understand that. You know, well, you work
for the Husky flagship. Of course I do. I know that,
But you know what, I went to Washington State like

(22:11):
I like I was. It's Brett much like it's Bred
and Husky fans, and I think really starting in ninety four,
Kenny Wheaton's gonna score, et cetera. You guys can thank
Damon for that one. But but like I think it's
like it's Brendan o' husky fan. You hate Oregon, That's okay.
Alabama doesn't like Auburn, Aubert doesn't like Alabama. Michigan hatess
Ohio State. Ohio State hates Michigan. Hell, I'll go to

(22:32):
the West coast. Notre Dame doesn't like usc US. He
is just afraid of Notre Dame. Right, That's how it works.
Like that's how college football works, Bud it is.

Speaker 9 (22:40):
Have you seen that Lincoln Riley's trying to weasel lab.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
Oh, we we had some great fain well. Petros Papa
Daikus comes on every week with safty Fine was in
this week for Saftie and he he had a seven
minute rant about about Lincoln Riley and USC trying to
get out of that, you know, as a former USC player,
just he goes in embarrassing. It's just embarrassing. I mean,
remember when USC was the real deal on the West

(23:04):
Coast and they're not anymore. It sorry, it is Oregon, right,
Like Oregon's taken that mantle.

Speaker 9 (23:10):
Yeah, until us he takes it back, and that is
just such a.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
Weany move.

Speaker 9 (23:16):
Under term, Yeah, there's just no way you can look
at it and say, well, with a big turn schedule,
I don't really want to have that.

Speaker 7 (23:25):
I'm like, look, more.

Speaker 9 (23:26):
Teams get into the playoff now, if if nothing else,
now you should be more willing to play that rivalry.
No one wants to go to a place where the
coach is scared. That's it's just so silly. And it
looks like Jen Cohen, the ad down there, still wants
to keep playing it.

Speaker 6 (23:46):
So maybe this will.

Speaker 9 (23:47):
Be a test of just how much juice Lincoln has left,
because when she got hired, Lincoln clearly had more power,
and I think he's on the hot seat, but watching
I just I hope he keeps that job forever because
it does all of us on the West Coast well.
When USC has a coach who finds a way to

(24:07):
hamper which should be their prohibitive talent advantage, they have
great players, and they tend to hire idiot coaches. Pete
Carroll accepted, I.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
Can relate, because really I was not happy. None of
us were happy when Tyrone got fired at Washington, Like,
we want guys like that to stay. You guys probably
enjoyed the Paul wolfarra. I mean it's like we want
I like, you know, when teams that you don't like
when they have bad coaches as good daddy. Look at
the USC schedule. I went through this the other day.

(24:38):
So this is their non conference. By the way, Missouri, Georgia, Southern,
Notre Dame, that's their non conference. Okay, so you have
one non conference game that's worth a blanket. It's Notre Dame.
We're traditional. But their games in conference the Great Big Ten.
They don't play Ohio State, they don't play Penn State.
They play Michigan at home, like like it's Illinois's okay,

(25:05):
Like they're gonna be probably a top twenty five team.
They played per Due, awful team was like what one
and twelve or one and eleven last season? Northwestern hasn't
been good forever. They had like one good year Iowa
three yards and a cloud of dust that's at home,
and they play UCLA and Oregon. Like if you look
through that, what's the difference between playing Iowa, Nebraska, Michigan, Illinois,

(25:28):
Michigan State as opposed to going and playing a PAC
twelve S schedule back in the day, even the last
year when Arizona won ten games, right when you'd have
to go to rice Ecles and take on Kyle Whittingham
in Utah. Wazoo's been ranked more times than not in
the last few years, at least in part of the season.
I mean like, there's there's not a huge difference, is
there No?

Speaker 4 (25:50):
And I'll go miss if.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
You're missing some of those top those top end schools,
I should.

Speaker 9 (25:54):
Say exactly, and everybody's gonna kind of miss two of them.
It looks like in some of your that's going to
be a huge advantage Indiana not playing I think they
didn't play Oregon and Penn State last year. They played
a down Michigan and then they lost to Ohio State late.
That's how they ended up in the playoffs because they

(26:15):
didn't play two of the top three teams in the conference.
And that's when you've got eighteen teams in a conference,
that that's going to happen. And with the next step
being that, we're probably we're probably looking at an era
where they move away from championship games and the postseason
games within the conference will be to determine the third

(26:36):
and fourth teams from that conference that get into the playoffs.
Are you really even going to have what you could
consider actual conference champions? Somebody will be receiving it, but
you're increasingly gonna have there's not gonna there's not. I
don't think there's gonna be title games anymore because the
thing that really matters is the playoff seeding and the

(26:59):
horses out of the barn. Like, you're not going to
be able to put all of that back. But that's
that's weird. Conference has always been the foundation of college
football to me, and it's just it's clearly not anymore.
It's not in terms of geography, and it's not going
to be in terms of schedule.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
Danie O'Neil joining us quick thought on the Mariners. I
don't know if you know this. The Washington Nationals are
a juggernaut. They've rolled in here and dropped eighteen runs
the last two games against Seattle.

Speaker 9 (27:28):
Yeah, that was rough. I'm firmly in denial mode with
George Kirby. I'm firmly telling myself he didn't have spring training.
He's going to have some time to get up to speed.
There's nothing to worry about your long term. I've I've
started to wonder. I started to wonder maybe one of
these prospects, and I saw that Adam Jude wrote about

(27:50):
a certain one of these prospects that play in the
infield that's that's tearing it up down in Triple A,
that perhaps perhaps it's time to be looking in that
direction to to get a little of a boost. But
I am firmly I've tried to forget the last seven games,
being that they've lost five of them, and I'm still
I'm still basking in the three games sweep down in

(28:12):
San Diego and that they've won five or six to
start that road trip.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
Well, God bless the Pacers if they indeed win tomorrow,
which I kind of feel like, not only they win,
they'll probably do that going away, and then after that
next week, by the time we talk Danny, I think
we'll be one game into the stress that is the
ultimate stress, that is seeing what happens with the not Sonics,

(28:39):
not Seattle franchise, the Oklahoma City Thunder. In the meantime,
we'll all make a deal with the Devil Oregon National
Championship for you Washington National Championship for me, doesn't matter.
We'll all make that deal with the devil and see
what happens. And in the meantime, people want to get
some great sports writing for Seattle from New York, howt
of they do.

Speaker 9 (28:56):
So they can go to Danny O'Neil dot com and
Gordon has been nice enough to sponsor this visit with Ian.
You can enter your email address and I will send
you a weekly email and it may include a joke
from a stand up comedian that I've just discovered because
he went down to Eugene and explained to him how
much he respected the Oregon fans because they hated him
as much.

Speaker 5 (29:15):
As he hated them and gotta laugh.

Speaker 9 (29:17):
So that's the sort of thing you can expect each
and every week.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
Thanks buddy, I appreciate. We'll talk to you next week.

Speaker 9 (29:23):
Sounds good. Take care.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
That is Danny O'Neil, The Great Danny O'Neil, brought to
you by Northwest Handling Systems NWHS dot com serving in
the Pacific Northwest, is nineteen seventy one the leading full
line materially handling distributor in the Pacific Northwest. Over fifty
years as well, look for a career there or whatever
your needs might be NWHS dot com. Well, Anders, we

(29:46):
might have the dumbest thing you're gonna hear at least
this week, perfect, maybe longer. That's coming up next.

Speaker 8 (29:56):
Study in forness show probably presents ignorance bad. It's finest
until Softy hits the air, a special part of your
day where intelligence takes the segment off. If it sounds stupid,
it probably is. Ladies and gentlemen, the dumbest thing you'll
hear today, a real no brainer, is.

Speaker 1 (30:23):
Not even in today. So you know this is This is.

Speaker 4 (30:25):
A definitely the dumbest thing you'll hear today.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
This this is yeah, yeah, all right. So Joy Taylor
is a host on what is she a host on
FS one Speak Speak Keishawn Johnson's on that show somebody else.
I'm not sure, say McCoy right, maybe that might sounds right, sure, yeah, shady, shady.

(30:49):
This This was a couple of days ago, and I
wouldn't have even thought about it because we've all made
this mistake in this business. You do, live radio, live TV.
Whatever you make mistakes, it's fine. But how she handled
it afterwards I'll explain in a second. But this is
Joy Taylor along with Keishawn and Shady on speak on

(31:13):
FS one going on a rant about Aaron Rodgers OTAs
and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Speaker 13 (31:20):
Why why this is the Pittsburgh Steelers. They have six
little parties, they're coach by Warner, Hall of Fame Mike Thomas,
and we're sitting around talking about Aaron Rodgers is not
there on the first day of OTA's mandatory or not?
Where's your pride? Where's your dignity? Give you respect for

(31:41):
the game? Where's your respect for this organization? Where's this
organization's respect for the history that they have in this league?
What are we talking about? He's never played there before.
He doesn't know any of these teammates. He doesn't know
the streets to get to the facility, he doesn't know that.
He doesn't know the doctors, he doesn't know the rehab
CRUI I don't know anybody.

Speaker 3 (32:01):
There's no anybody, has' nobody to get his smoothies, nothing.

Speaker 13 (32:03):
He's like, why would you not be there?

Speaker 11 (32:06):
If?

Speaker 13 (32:06):
Why am I supposed to take this seriously? It's not
about him not being at non mandatory OTAs for a
team that he's been with for twenty two years.

Speaker 4 (32:15):
Do what you want to do?

Speaker 13 (32:16):
You have been You won five games last year. The
year before that you didn't play becauseutory achilles. The year
before that you missed the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (32:24):
What are we talking about, Keishawan? Now, now that I
listened to it for his third time, I also realize
this Keishawn didn't know either.

Speaker 4 (32:35):
No, he didn't.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
So she listen again. We've all made that mistake in this.
So what's the mistake. The mistake is this not admitting
you made the mistake? Yeah, that's the mistake. She goes
on another rant, which we won't play, but like so,
but she's asking why he's not there. He's not there
because he's not signed. He's not even on the team.
He's not signed. He's not on the team. He has

(32:59):
his signed, yet they don't have The funny thing is,
at one point Keyshan goes, well, they don't have a quarterback,
and then he goes on the whole thing with her, like, yeah,
he needs to be So she says, quote key people
think that you and I do not know that Aaron
Rodgers is not officially signed to the Steelers. They're having
a hard time with it on the internet. Do you
join key know that he doesn't have to be there. No,

(33:21):
apparently you didn't.

Speaker 4 (33:22):
I guess not.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
You didn't know that. You thought he had already signed. Now,
maybe in fairness to them, it feels like he's signed
there because all signs point to him signed there, but
he hasn't signed there. You can't just show up as
a random free agent off the street and go to
someone's OTAs and walk into a quarterback meaning if you're
not signed with them, Joy holy Man. The wildest thing

(33:46):
about that, it's a TV show, radio on TV, TV,
on radio, it's mostly TV, right, yeah? Is there not
a producer in her ear going like I know this?
If I went, if I do something and it happens.

Speaker 4 (34:01):
And you like misspeak or I'm like, hey, it's not that,
it's something else.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
You say that and I give you and Jess free Rein,
I say, tell me please. I know my producer for
television on the Kraken Hockey Network, Scott Malone, savant that
he is like there's walking talking nothing slips by Scotty
Malone telling you that right now, he'd beat my ear
going like that's what he and I'd be like, oh,

(34:27):
my mistake, boom and you move on. We all make mistakes.
Admit you're wrong. Joy check the ego at the door.
Check the ego at the door, like that was what?
That's an all timer? Like that's an all timer. Hey
guess what. He has not signed.

Speaker 4 (34:46):
He's not on the team.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
That's why he's not there. He can't be there right now.
He literally can't.

Speaker 1 (34:51):
I'm trying to picture it actually, like they're having OTAs
Mike Tomlin's up there and all of a sudden, Aaron
walks in. Hey, sorry, I'm like, you know, oh you sign? No,
I'm just here just hanging out, dude, you need to sign.
I'm just here. Are you gonna sign? You know, kind
of kicking the tires, just kind.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
Of seeing checking it out.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
See if I like it? Yeah, I don't know, see
if I like the meetings facility? Like you know, like
you you know what do we look a look at
a film?

Speaker 8 (35:13):
In a bit?

Speaker 1 (35:14):
Hey can I to throw the ball around?

Speaker 3 (35:15):
But no, you're not signed.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
One thing, It's like, okay, why is he not signed?
That's that's a conversation.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
That's a conversation. Is he going to sign there? Why
is he not signed?

Speaker 5 (35:27):
Before?

Speaker 1 (35:27):
OTA is a mini kick.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
But saying why he's not at otacause he's not he's
not there.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
And then they they blamed the I love this, you know,
they blame the people tweeting from their mother's basement thing,
like they use that line again. It's like, uh no,
every one of those people understands why he's not there,
whether they live in mom's basement or not, they understand.
They understand. You know, I maybe did Mike Tomlin invite

(35:54):
him there just for giggles and she's aware of that,
and nobody else in the world is and he didn't
show up and didn't take the invag I don't don't know,
but m M goodness me our business? What is wrong
with it?

Speaker 11 (36:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (36:07):
A lot, a lot, yeah, Like, and I'll be honest, like,
during the course of a week, there's there's usually a
couple three times, sometimes a dozen, sometimes none, but let's
just average it out, maybe a couple three times a week.
You know, you're all live radio. You might say something,
I might say something. That might say something and we
just go hey, no, hey, you know, because you don't

(36:27):
want to look make something look like a fool. Like
the fact that that was a topic was weird. Yeah,
because the topic would have had to go through the
producer and again, like if you see the video, Keishawn's
like confused.

Speaker 4 (36:41):
Yeah, he's like doesn't know what's going on.

Speaker 1 (36:43):
He's probably asking himself, how did I end up here
with her on this show?

Speaker 6 (36:48):
Like?

Speaker 1 (36:48):
What did I do? I used to be a really
good foot. I was on ESPN at one point. Yeah,
you know the key he was. I was with him,
him and Boomer? Yeah, what happened to me?

Speaker 9 (36:57):
Like?

Speaker 1 (36:58):
How did I end up here? What did I do
to deserve this?

Speaker 7 (37:04):
All right, we're good.

Speaker 1 (37:06):
Jordan Eberley Seattle Cracking captain. He played on the Island
New York Islanders when Lane Lambert was an assistant coach there,
knows him well before he got came here in the
expansion draft. What does he think of the Kraken's new
head coach. We'll get those words from Jordan Eberley coming
up next.

franchise history. Lane Lambert is his name. We'll get more
on him in a second, with the captain of the
Seattle Kracking Jordan Everley joining us here in just a
couple of moments. He played for Lane Lambert when Lambert
was an assistant coach with the Islanders a few years

(37:54):
ago before he came to Seattle in the expansion Draft.
Mariners lose yesterday, lose the series two games to one
to the Washington Nationals seven run tenth inning. Not good.
That might have done in Seattle.

Speaker 4 (38:08):
No bueno.

Speaker 1 (38:09):
Yeah, hey, they did get three runs though, Mariners, three
more than they got on Wednesday toffer series coming up
this weekend. The Twins of Minnesota started out slow. They're
on a little bit of a heater right now. They're
in town first to three tonights Fireworks Night, should point
out at T Mobile Park. Head on down there and
check things out. Three with the Twins, three with the

(38:29):
Orioles after that to wrap up the nine game homestand
for the Mariners, back to Hockey Edmonton. Back to the
Stanley Cup Final for the second year in a row,
and for the second year in a row. They'll take
on the Florida Panthers, who won it last season. Game
one next Wednesday night, Edmonton with a win last night
in Dallas over the Dallas Stars. A lot of people

(38:50):
not happy about that one. In Dallas. Jay Ottinger pulled
after two goals on two shots. Eh, Peter de boor
really really, I think Casey the Smith was gonna get you.

Speaker 4 (39:04):
There no.

Speaker 1 (39:07):
NBA playoffs. The thunder await the winner of the Knicks
Pacers series that could wrap up tomorrow. That game is
in Indianapolis. Game six. Pacers lead three games too. There,
let's get to it. Jordan Everley standing by.

afternoon of gorgeous Friday, here in the Emerald City, home
of the Seattle Kraken. And joining us right now on
the Beacon Plumbing hot Line, the captain for your Seattle back,
Jordan Everley, is with us. Jordan, how are you?

Speaker 6 (40:03):
I'm doing well. I'm doing well, it'sposed to be back
home and get a little time off and you know,
spend some time with the family.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
Okay, so home in the off season. Is it home
home as in Rejana, Saskatchwan, or somewhere else.

Speaker 6 (40:15):
No, we're in Calgary. My family had moved here. I'm
trying to think I was about fifteen or sixteen. So
all my siblings are here. They all have kids, and
my wife's family's from here and their siblings have kids,
so a lot of cousins for them to hang around
with us.

Speaker 1 (40:30):
Are you is a stamped when's the Stampede July? Is
that coming up soon? When's the Calgary Stampede?

Speaker 6 (40:35):
Stampede is in July? Yeah, first couple of weeks. So
usually try to get down to the ground, especially with
the kids. Now they enjoy that I have.

Speaker 1 (40:42):
A cousin and an uncle that live up in Calgary.
We keep meeting. We were went there a long time
ago and need to get back up there at some point.
And in a way we go, all right, let's get
to it. Big news yesterday for your team, Lane Lambert
announces is the third head coach in the franchise. Is
history you have a history with him as well. Uh,
your initial reaction to Lane Lambert as a.

Speaker 6 (41:02):
New head coach, Yeah, I was excited. I knew he
was obviously a candidate to uh you know, at the
top of the list, and having worked with Wayne, I
know the intensity that he brings. I think my three
years in Long Island, he was then assistant coach under
Barry Barry Trotz and you know, both of them, they'd
worked together for a long time. But just the attention

(41:25):
to detail, you know, that the emphasis on that sort
of thing and in order to win hockey games, that
was something for me coming from Edmonton that I didn't
really understand or or again I credit them, both of
them really to helping me really become a better two
way two hundred foot hockey player. And obviously we had
some success there. So you know Layne the like I

(41:48):
just mentioned, the attention to detail, the intensity that he brings,
you know, the the intensity of holding guys accountable, that
sort of thing. I mean, those are all things that
we need and are I've always respected in him and
that's a big reason why he's such a great coach.
So I was I was very very excited when I
said I heard the news I'm going to get.

Speaker 1 (42:08):
Back to lane in a second. And I was what
three coaches in five years for the franchise, And I
don't want you to. I'm not asking you for certainly
to throw anybody into the bus or or or you know,
run anybody over. But what what do you think happened
the last couple of years? You know, two years ago
with Dave, after the playoff appearance last year. I can
point to a lot of things last year. A lot

(42:28):
of it would be injuries. Your injury done done out
for a while, Joey missed some time, back to back issues,
all those things. But if you just look at what
was missing in terms of the guys behind the bench,
what do you think was missing and and why was
this team maybe underachieving the last couple of years?

Speaker 6 (42:45):
You know, I don't. I don't point fingers at guys
behind the bench. I've never been that way anytime a
coach gets fired. You know, I hope the guys in
the team myself, I know I do is you know
you take responsibility for that. I've been in the league
long enough and had quite a few coaches. It's it's
never a good feeling when your coach gets fired, you
feel responsible, you know, I don't know if I can

(43:05):
put my finger on you know, exactly what happened last year.
I like the way that we did finish the year
and and the the last couple of months. I thought
we played much much better and we found a little
bit of rhythm, you know. But at the end of
the day, it's it's a business. It's well winning, and
you know, once they let him go, I think that
we've moved on to try and find a new coach. So,

(43:29):
you know, I hope guys feel responsible for that, and
we should. And you know, for the biggest thing is
or at least for me. I mean, I'm thirty five.
I want to win, and I know this organization wants
to win, and that's why I love being a part
of it. And I think, you know, Lane is the
right guy for the job and he gonna help us
do that. Uh.

Speaker 1 (43:50):
It is Jordan every joining us here on the Beacon
Plumbing hotline. His his resumes. I find really interesting. Head
coach in the WHL, head coach in the American League,
long long time assistant or even associate head coach in
the NHL, had that brief stint after you came here
on the island as a head coach and kind of
felt like, I don't know, it didn't look like a

(44:10):
guy record wise, it should have been kicked to the
curb and you know, but that did happen. We know
that we just talked about the pressure to win in
the NHL's is unlike probably any other league. There's a
very short leash, but the resume is really impeccable in
that regard. What do you think that he brings that
maybe is unique? And maybe I'll just ask from this
standpoint as an assistant coach for a long time assistant

(44:33):
working under some pretty good coaches like Barry Trotz, what
do you think it is that Lane Lambert has learned
over the years, not just necessarily as a head coach,
but as the assistant coaches in Bruby last year in Toronto.

Speaker 6 (44:44):
Yeah, well, I mean I touched on it before and
I played in Edmonton. I came into the league as
a young guy. You know, there's little things through games
that are massively important that kind of put you over
the edge. You know, I'm watching the playoffs now and
you know, mistakes and things like that that happened, whether
it's stick detail or on wall play or stick detailed

(45:05):
fro the neeta's defenseman covering or getting box outs, or
things that maybe the ordinary fan doesn't really underrecognize it,
and when I came to the league, I didn't recognize
the importance of it. I mean, those are the things
that I learned from those two, especially Barry and Lane,
that that's the difference between winning and losing, and especially
if you go to the playoffs where the line is

(45:26):
so thin, you know, the attention that they put towards
that stuff in video session and communicating it to you
is what really in Long Island, that's the big reason
why we had success. I mean, they were great at
bringing the team together and making everyone feel a part
of it, but those were massively, massively important and something

(45:46):
in my opinion that we lacked a little bit last year.
And I even go back to the last couple of
months of the season where I thought we were playing
some pretty good hockey and we had minor lapses and
games and end up costing us. I think we were
a couple of games or one or two games about
five hundred the last.

Speaker 11 (46:03):
A little bit.

Speaker 6 (46:04):
I felt like we could have been a lot better
than that you know, and I think you know obviously
Lane will be a guy that you know will bring
the emphasis on that stuff. You know, I've known he's
coached very very structured teams. You look at with him
and Mauba did in Toronto last year or this year. Sorry,
I know what we did in Long Island and you

(46:24):
know that's gonna be massively reported for this group. And
only that, but just the intensity and the passion that
he brings, that's something that really stuck out to me
with my time with Lane, and.

Speaker 3 (46:34):
I love it.

Speaker 6 (46:35):
He wants to win. I want to win. And when
you're able to bring that intensity, it's contagious and and uh,
you know, I'm excited for that.

Speaker 1 (46:44):
Jordanably joining us here on nine three point three, k
draft Emmy in for NASA on the Home of the Kraken. Uh.
Can you define a word for me that we've heard
a lot lately, and I just it's it's it's a
word that Ron Francis used on this show with me
when they did Let Dan Go. It's a word that
Jason Botterill used when he hired Lane Lambert with our

(47:04):
morning show this morning, and its structure. Can you define
from a players standpoint, what that structure needs to be
for the Seattle cracking to be successful. Where it starts,
I'm assuming in the defensive zone. But what is that
structure and the details you mentioned the strength of Lane Lambert,
He's a very detailed guy. Walk us through what that
structure truly means.

Speaker 6 (47:23):
Yeah, I mean, if I think of a good structured teams,
and a lot of the times, you know, our team
in the past has been identified as playing fast. We
want to be fast, we want to be quick, we
want to break up the puck quick. But I mean
all of that doesn't happen unless you're a structured team.
And for me, simply put, structure is when everyone was

(47:43):
on the same page. I trust that my defense are
going to make breakout passes and give me pucks and
spots that I'm able to then move it to the
centerman who knows that I'm going to be making the
right play to him, and just everyone on the same page.
And that's how you play fast hockey. That's true. And
when you put a lot of emphasis on what each
guy's doing, you have trust within your group. I mean,

(48:04):
that's where you become a good team. That's where you
continuously roll over if you have all four lines doing it,
which you know in the past that's kind of been
our identity as well as we need all four lines
to be successful because we don't have I mean, that
game breaker that's going to just win. As hockey games,
we have to win by committee. But you know, that's
a fun way of winning if everyone is on the

(48:25):
same page and you have that structure and you have
that and you're playing and you have trust within each other.
I mean, that's when you play fast and you just
start rolling over teams.

Speaker 1 (48:33):
I'm gonna take a side step here. Is that what
Edmonton's doing differently this year than maybe last year, is
playing with a little more structure.

Speaker 6 (48:40):
Well, I mean the thing with Edmonton that really impresses
me right now. You know, it's always been obviously Connor
and Leon that have kind of driven the boat, but
you know, with them right now, I see everybody going,
you know, I see Corey Perry playing unbelievable. I see
Nudeen Hopkins playing amazing before Hymen got hurt, Kane, Connor Brown,
I mean they're getting contribution from everybody. But yeah, I

(49:02):
mean structure. You look at the way they shut down
the game last night. You know, I don't even think
Dallas really had a look at the end of the game.
They're they're all on the same page and committed to winning,
and you know, they're there their winger, their de men
are getting the puck up to the wingers, and the
DSA on the wingers are getting pucks out and then
they have speed onto it. I mean, that's you just
continuously do that. It frustrates team and then teams get

(49:22):
out of their game and start doing other things. So
you know, for me right now, the Oilers, it's the
they look like a team that is four lines deep,
and uh you know that that hasn't necessarily been the
case with them, and that's going to be a tough
team to.

Speaker 1 (49:36):
Be Sports nets missing out as TV. In your future,
we could use you on the Crack and Hockey Network
in a few years, huh. Like, that's the structure analysis
and the Edmonton Oilers analysis some of the best I've
heard in a long time. Sorry, Kevin Bixa, Sorry Paul,
Like that was damn good, buddy, Like we could put
you on the deck. Hey, you want to come join
us on the desk upstairs with Alison and Brett and
I you know, anytime, just come on up. I proud

(49:56):
to see on the ice. But you know you can
join us any time up there if you want.

Speaker 9 (50:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (50:00):
No, my plan is to continue playing. I want to
play as long. I love this game too much. I
want to play for as long as I can't. So
that's that's my goal.

Speaker 1 (50:10):
It was good stuff. Before they go a couple more things.
Tell us we're not gonna get a chance to meet Lane.
They've got the NHL Combines next week, and so it's there.
The hockey ops guys are busy doing far more important
things and meeting with us in the media. Uh, but
they're doing that next week. I think we're gonna we'll
probably hear from Laye in the news conference probably a
week from Monday or something. And and so it's gonna
be a while before Cracking fans and us in the

(50:30):
media and all of us get a chance to really
hear from him.

Speaker 11 (50:32):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (50:33):
You talked about, you know, kind of the communication and
all those things. I've read a bunch of things where
you see a different guy in front of the camera
than you do maybe in the locker room. Listen, Bill
Belichick was the greatest NFL coach of all time. But
people always around Belichick say what you guys see in
the podiums, not what we see in the locker room.
Take us, who is Lane Lambert? What is this guy?
Like he's the face of the franchise, He's gonna be

(50:54):
the guy out in the podium every night and in
morning skates and practices. Who is this guy?

Speaker 6 (51:00):
You know, I don't really care how he is with
you guys.

Speaker 3 (51:02):
I know you know that.

Speaker 1 (51:03):
I know you don't. I know you don't.

Speaker 3 (51:06):
I know you don't.

Speaker 1 (51:07):
I'm just curious, that's all.

Speaker 6 (51:09):
Yeah. No, I mean from from a players standpoint, the thing,
like I said, I've always appreciated the ladies. He's going
to give it to you straight and for hockey player
and somebody's been in the league for a while, you know,
that's that's all you can ask for somebody who's going
to you know, I not only give it to you straight,
but give it you reasons why you're not playing well,

(51:30):
why you're playing well, whatever it may be. I mean,
at the end of the day, you know you're you're
a team, and you're only sole goals to win hockey games.
And if you're not pulling your weight or you're not
doing the right thing. It's great to have coaches or
even just coaches, but players and you know, to tell
you the way it is. And I think that's something
that's kind of been lost a little bit in the

(51:50):
league the last you know, over many years, accountability has
kind of gone down a bit, and we were able
to get away with some stuff. But I am a
believer in criticism. And not only that, but you know,
you know, picking guys up to and they need it.
And Lane is a great example of that. I think
when you guys all have a common goal of just
you want to win hockey games, you'll do whatever it takes.

(52:13):
That's what I want to be a part of it.
I think Lane brings that.

Speaker 1 (52:15):
I think it's going to be fun coming up. Final
thing for you. Who knows what's going to happen with
free agency, draft draft day trades, draft weekend trades, all
those things, but the core of this team. I've said this.
I got an argument with a guy, Jason Gregor up
in Edmonton about this. I said, I don't think I
trade like what Seattle has on the back end. You know,
one through five, one through six, depending on who five
and six are Riker will be back, I'm sure is

(52:37):
restricted free agent. Love the defensive core level, a lot
of what's going on up front. Three centers that are
really good, you know, I mean that's where it starts
in hockey. You go right down the middle with Maddie,
Chandler and Shane. There's so much talent on this team.
Who are the guys like next year? What kind of
step do you think a guy like Yanni Newman can take,
Coppocco can take, especially maybe a Shane right what kind

(52:59):
of steps would you expect to see next year from
those young guys?

Speaker 6 (53:03):
Well, for me, I mean that's that's the biggest thing
for this team. Who want to be a consistent contender
and be where we want to be, you know, Shane
Writer Wriker, h you know you mentioned, uh, like we
have we have to build take steps and only that.
But as older guys and guys who's in the league,
you know, I look at the complimentary pieces that we

(53:23):
have throught our lineup, Schwartz Canner, Uh, you know myself,
we have a lot of good wingers that have played
a long time and been in the league to help
those guys and you know, like you mentioned was one
of the best decords in the league. We have a goalie,
we have a lot of very good pieces, and it's
just it's up to us to try and put together

(53:44):
and put in the right spots, and you know, get
a little belief in the group. You get a little
belief and you get on a bit of a run
and feel confident about.

Speaker 10 (53:52):
What you have.

Speaker 6 (53:54):
You know, you never know what can happen. So I'm
excited for the year. I say that we finally a
coach in place. I'm sure there's some more stuff that's
going to happen, but you know, always just excited to
be a part of the team that wants to win.
And I think that's the biggest thing in all I
can ask for.

Speaker 1 (54:12):
I love I got one more quick one because you've
been around the legue for a long time. Thirty five,
you said, that's a young thirty five. I wish I
was still thirty five. But at you talk to guys
around the league, it's a small world, especially if you're
up in Oultbert in the summer in Calgary, so many
guys are living there. What's the perception around the league
about the Seattle Kraken, the organization, the rank, the facilities
and just coming here because whether it's attracting free agents

(54:34):
or RFAs or whatever it is. What do you hear,
Jordan Eberley from other people around the league.

Speaker 6 (54:40):
Well, I mean from an outsider perspective, you know, I
think I'm biased, but we have the best arena in
the league. You know, I think some of the best
sports fans that I've been a part of, just even
to the playoffs before this, I've always said I was
a Seahawks fan. I know how loud that building you get.

(55:00):
You know, I think something that is always uh is great.
I know, you know, I've been around Canadian markets and
I understand how how hard it can be to you know,
some of the the way that the least, you know,
it's not an easy place to play. It's the highs
or high the lows are low in those markets. But
in Seattle you're able to, you know, go about your

(55:20):
business and and not really have to deal with that.
I mean there's many things I think, you know, the
amount of uh, you know, the money that this team
has put into, you know, trying to get better winning
hockey games. I think it all just speaks for itself.
So you know, I know where they want to get to.
I know where I personally want to get to, and

(55:41):
and that's to be there.

Speaker 1 (55:42):
We probably won't bother you again until a training camp.
So I thank you for the for the time today,
and uh, I do appreciate it. We hope to see
you play for a long time. It's uh, it's it's
a fun organization to be a part of, and I
think I think the best things are yet to come.
Jordan ever really, thank you so much, and we'll talk
down the road.

Speaker 6 (55:58):
Yeah, no, appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (55:59):
Thanks here, Jordan Everley joining us so much, appreciating him
in the off season, coming on with us and going
through everything. A good conversation, and Anderson jumped out at
you there.

Speaker 2 (56:08):
Yeah, I just that his conversation about structure really got
to me. I think also kind of his talking about
the development of the younger guys I think is going
to be a huge important thing for this team moving forward.
And he seems like he has a lot of good
things to say about Lane Lambert, so that's a big
positive sign for me.

Speaker 1 (56:27):
Yeah, effusive in his praise for the new coach, which
you have to love, which is really cool. Okay, we'll
take a break we're gonna come back. Special guests plural.
Some can speak, some it can't, if that makes sense. Yeah,
and Jackson, you're gonna join us for this too. That's
coming up next, pod casting live from the R and

(56:50):
R Foundation Specialist Broadcast Studio.

Speaker 10 (56:53):
Now back to Ian Fornez, powered by Seaedl's Closest sports book,
Snow Call Me Casino on Sports Radio ninety three point
three kJ R FM.

Speaker 1 (57:05):
All right, no text, say, we're gonna do some little
different here we So I've been I've been lucky enough
working in the world of hockey a number of times
to be around the Stanley Cup, and I just found
a similar trophy, is at least in terms of the
rules that you cannot touch it. Yeah, oh yeah, unless

(57:26):
you've won it. I don't know about this one. I'm
assuming if you've won it you get to touch it. Yes, okay,
I'm getting that thumbs up from our FIFA folks here.
Coming up in just a couple of weeks it is
the inaugural thirty two team FIFA Club World Cup, of
which the Seattle Sounders are a participant in. And Jackson's here.

(57:47):
He's gonna explain why enters our our guy from ember
City Spectrum is also here. Our soccer guy, Brad Evans
late as always, that's what happens when you're retired, just
and broadcasting. Brad Brad, Brad. You know his over his
head for a while. Have you not taught him better?

Speaker 14 (58:01):
No, because he doesn't learn anything from the radio. He
just he just says, I'm just gonna, you know, go
into my own drum and I'll see you when I see.

Speaker 1 (58:08):
He's kind of the Jay Buhner of soccer. I'll show.

Speaker 3 (58:12):
It's a big time now.

Speaker 4 (58:13):
That's so true.

Speaker 1 (58:14):
But a serious note. Coming up on Sunday, June fifteenth
at Lumen Field, the Sounders are going to host their
first game in the FIFA Club World Cup, uh the
World Cup in the FIFA Club World Cup trophy is here.
I just tweeted out some pictures. Is I've never seen
anything like this before? Like is we got guys with
gloves on telling us don't get too close to it,

(58:36):
don't touch it, Jackson, don't breathe on it, don't spit
on it, and careful all those things A fair question
for me, but this thing is absolutely gorgeous. Tell people,
because we're doing radio, they can't see that, but unless
you're on social media and you'll see all the pictures
are going to send out. Tell people how cool it
is the Sounders are actually in this tournament and why
it's now a big deal because it used to be

(58:56):
what seven teams, now it's thirty two.

Speaker 14 (58:57):
Exactly like they was a thing where it was a
we're just gonna take the seven champions of various leagues
around the world put them all against each other every year,
and it was kind of a smaller tournament. Honestly, it wasn't.
It wasn't major on the global scale. But what they've
essentially done is said, let's replicate what we have in
the World Cup at once every four years, the massive

(59:19):
fervor that is from every single country for this tournament.
Let's do that on the club scale and take the
champions of each league for four years and then put
it in a big old tournament. So Sounders were obviously
in the twenty twenty three version of this, and we
saw what happened there wasn't great, But this is now
all right, We're back in it with clubs of these

(59:40):
are the champions of this era. So like it sort
of is who is the best team of this era
right for four years. So what we have is I
mean they're giants. I mean, right now you have to
the two teams who are playing essentially the super Bowl
of soccer coming up right now, this final for the
Club World Cup might turn into the super Bowl of soccer.
But right now the Champions League and UEFA is you

(01:00:03):
have you have Milan and you have PSGH. Both of
those teams. Ian are playing here in Seattle's Sounders are
facing PSG. Milan plays two games here at Lumen Field.
I mean, we are being, you know, looked at as
up against the group of death and it's it's just
wild to think that we're in a position to even

(01:00:23):
be considered in a group of deaths of a global
soccer tournament.

Speaker 1 (01:00:27):
Hey, welcome to the big time Sounders from the MLS,
right Welcome to the big time here speaking a big.

Speaker 3 (01:00:33):
Time there, he is making a big time.

Speaker 1 (01:00:35):
We just grabbed that mic right there, speaking a big
time there. He is the uh you know, we'll fill
that mic on there. Brad Evans is here, Jackson's here,
Ian's here, Andrews is there, and we've got this trophy.

Speaker 15 (01:00:47):
This thing's unreal. Well, this thing is unreal. Yeah, twenty
four carrot. Yeah, and the Sounders are on here already.

Speaker 1 (01:00:53):
I did even mention that, Yeah, Brad Evans, which is
Brad Evans is here, by the way, he knows. He
knows a lot more than any Jackson hasn't taught you
about timing apparently, Yeah, apparently thinks for that one.

Speaker 15 (01:01:06):
Dude, where was the text? Uh, he's busy getting selfies
with the trophy, that is true, he is. I can
imagine he's been salivating all days. I've been trying to
hug it, but they tell me not to.

Speaker 1 (01:01:17):
These guys with the gloves out there, they they've been
like pushing him away from it, right, it actually is.
He was actually just going through it, like what's coming
up June fifteenth, and the Sounders are here. I mean
as a former Sounders, a guy still involved with the
game here broadcasting but in the game, And I mean
you're kind of a great ambassador for it, Brad. What
does this mean as a former player, as a Sounder
to see this thing, this tournament here in Seattle.

Speaker 15 (01:01:39):
Yeah, I think when when you think of FIFA, you
think of international soccer, obviously you think of where in
the US eight Jersey and that was my first time
playing in a big, big, like World Cup qualifiers. Right,
that was my biggest level that I got to, and
there's something special about that. And then you play in
these smaller sanctioned tournaments and we have CONCA CAF Champions League,
which is which is amazing. But now you get to
the point where this is a full FIFA sanctioned tournament

(01:02:02):
with the best clubs in the entire world. Right, we're
talking thirty two of the best clubs. And to be
able to test yourself in a game that matters, that's
the biggest piece to this trophy. And I know the
guys got to see it today for the first time
in person, and it is it's all inspiring when you
see it, it's really really special.

Speaker 1 (01:02:20):
Put yourself back in there if you were still playing,
put yourself back in the shoes. The guys out there
at Long Acres today and they see this coming in
and the magnitude of this, what's going through your mind?

Speaker 15 (01:02:29):
Yeah, I think we still have two league games, right,
But I think what Craig said today, and it is
pretty poignant, is they're already starting to think about it
a little bit. It's hard not to think about playing
a game against PSG, Athletico and Bodafogo, like, these are
some of the best teams in the world that we
now have to actually compete with. We've played Man United,
we played Chelsea, but those games never mattered, right, it
was more of a spectacle. Yeah, but these now are

(01:02:51):
going to take hopefully this club and this country to
the next level. You have Miami and then LAFC will
play Club America in a one game playoff to see
which team makes it in. So you could potentially have
three MLS teams in this tournament, and you want to
be the team that shows the best, right, And it
goes beyond just a Sounders fan. It's about being a
fan of US soccer in that respect. And I've played

(01:03:12):
in tournaments where LAFC has been in it. I don't
root for them, but this is a tournament where if
you see the Sounders, you have to be a fan,
even if you're another team of seeing an American team
do well.

Speaker 1 (01:03:23):
The World Cup coming here, the other World Cup coming
here in a year time, right, coming up in twenty
twenty six. I don't want to say that this is
a warm up for that, but I mean it'll give
us a little taste, right, of a level of soccer
that we're probably not used to see. Yeah, yeah, well
I don't know.

Speaker 15 (01:03:39):
I mean we've played Portland here and we've had seventy
thousand fans at a game.

Speaker 1 (01:03:43):
Right, right, I'm not talk about that. I'm talking about
the playing, the level of play. Like it's just it's
because you're the Sounder's gonna be big underdogs of course, Like,
so you get to see and I like what you said,
test yourself against the very, very best. But what will
this be like a year from now when the world
comes upon Seattle as a fan of the game.

Speaker 15 (01:04:01):
Like I said, we've played against Portland in front of
big crowd, so that was a big game. And then
we played Man United sold out crowd. That's a big moment,
but it didn't matter, right, And now you're gonna get
a taste of what it means to be in one
of the biggest tournaments in the world. I mean, if
you have to figure, yes, the World Cup is the biggest,
then the Club World Cup is the next biggest tournament
in the world. Right, So we're gonna, like you said,
get a taste. You're gonna see the fandom, You're gonna see.
You're gonna see crazy is what you're gonna see. And

(01:04:22):
what you're gonna see.

Speaker 14 (01:04:23):
And I think is also these teams bring in their
top level talent because you look at the financial aspect
of this tournament, there's so much money and there's so
much money at stake if you move on in a group,
if you win a group, if you then make the
next round. There's incentive for teams like PSG and Athletico
Madrid to go play your top guys, to get big
gold differentials, to get big wins, because that will win
you groups, it'll get you better matchups, and it will

(01:04:44):
get you more money. So it's not like the Sounders
are facing you know, third string guy.

Speaker 3 (01:04:49):
This This could be high.

Speaker 14 (01:04:51):
Level talent that that that are playing in loomin field
for all of these teams.

Speaker 1 (01:04:55):
Yeah, because you mentioned it, there's been some great friendlies
here over the years, right, And but you don't you
don't know what you're gonna see. Maybe see the top
guys for forty five minutes, right and then and that that,
as Jackson said, everyone is in this for I mean
it's all in right, Like you're not there's nobody not
taking this thing seriously.

Speaker 15 (01:05:09):
Well, it is the second biggest soccer tournament in the world,
and it's not. This isn't just a one off for
these guys. They might never be in this tournament again. Also,
so this is an opportunity for each one of these clubs.
It comes from the top down right and ultimately, if
it's a big deal for your club, then it's gonna
be a big deal for the players, and then it's
a big deal for the fans and fans of Brushah
Dortmund for whoever it is around the world PSG. They

(01:05:30):
don't want to see their team come here and fail.
They want to see them win because that's what they're
used to.

Speaker 1 (01:05:35):
We have how many games here, Jackson three? We have
not just the sound Yeah, so it's like the whole
the whole group is here.

Speaker 11 (01:05:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:05:41):
So this not just so you can see the Sounders play,
but you can also see some other.

Speaker 3 (01:05:44):
I mean you you you right now.

Speaker 14 (01:05:46):
We have it set up for River Plate versus versus
excuse me, a Milan who's also in the Champions League
final for UEFA coming up this weekend. So I mean
that that is a monstrous match where if you're just
a fan of the sport, soccer. It's not only that
you want to go see the Sounders games. You want
to go see that because that is a game that
you're going to see historic you know, players and historic

(01:06:07):
moments being created.

Speaker 15 (01:06:08):
And if you think these are worldwide brands, yeah, right right,
and the Sounders are, they have a little taste of it.
You see you see Sounders jerseys around the world a
little bit, but these are brands. When I go to
go to pick up a kid at school, you're seeing
these teams. You see on the little players, right, you
see some Sounders jerseys of course in rain jerseys. But
this is the world's the world's team.

Speaker 1 (01:06:27):
Well, I think it's I mean, first of all, I'd
love to see it because you know, championships aside. We've
seen this team win and do things that other MLS
teams have not done. This this this franchise here with
the Sounders, there's no doubt about it. They've been existing
is seventy four. I'm very, very biased because I was
around watching that team in seventy four with you know,
with John Best coaching and yeah, I mean it was
unbelievable Barry Wattley and Goual And that was my first

(01:06:48):
taste and that's where I grew a love for the game.
And you know, for fifty years, fifty one years now,
I think this is the premiere franchise of soccer. And
I'm very biased, so maybe you can tell me different,
Brad Evans, but I think this is a premier franchise
in all of the United States.

Speaker 6 (01:07:02):
No.

Speaker 15 (01:07:02):
I mean it's easy. If you talk about consistency, it
has to be the Sounders, and you look at the
consistency before it. You look at the Open Cup runs
from the Sounders from the A League. It's consistently of
knocked off MLS teams and then to come in and
only have one losing season has been incredible. There's no
other MLS team that's that's done it quite like the Sounders.

Speaker 1 (01:07:20):
And they've pissed off Portland over the years too, from
Roger or whatever it is, you know, to your point,
but we want to support American SOCCERHO want to root
for these things. I will quickly as the as the
Sounders honk here and as the person who will just
you know, absolutely, you know, go Rave Green all my
entire life. I will say Miami didn't earn their spot
in this end and Sounders earned their spot in this tournament.

(01:07:43):
LAFC has potential to earn their spot maybe I mean
runner up still, but like the Sounders fully by winning
CONCA CAP Champions League, earned their spot in this tournament, right.
So it's one of those things where like, you know,
across American soccer, the rest of the country can say
go America, but like Sounders are the other most deserving
team to be in this And that's why I think
that we're gonna have a lot of people saying they're

(01:08:04):
in the group of death.

Speaker 3 (01:08:05):
They're clearly the underdog.

Speaker 14 (01:08:06):
You know, everybody's gonna you know, I think American soccer
fans gonna be rooting for us because they want to
see us make a claim that listen, they earned it.

Speaker 3 (01:08:13):
They better you know, hopefully I prove it.

Speaker 1 (01:08:15):
It's something.

Speaker 3 (01:08:15):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 15 (01:08:16):
This isn't the first time the Sounders have been in
this tournament. Let's not forget. Right after winning in twenty
twenty two, you go to Morocco and it's our first
game of the season, barely get four weeks in preseason. Yeah,
and you got to play an Egyptian Champion league.

Speaker 1 (01:08:29):
Yeah, away from home.

Speaker 15 (01:08:31):
You travel across the world and you get beat one nothing,
Well we were the better team that day. Yeah, if
you get a result in that game, you get to
play Real Madrid the next game. And it was a
smaller tournament at the time, but with this new expanded tournament,
there's much more reason to root for this club because
you're guaranteed three games and that one. The Sounders will
only guaranteed the one game.

Speaker 1 (01:08:47):
Brad, let me wrap it up with this, what are
realistic expectations? What would you tell fans as they go
watch these matches and get involved. As you guys are articulated,
it's the best of the best club teams in the world,
the very best of the best. And Jackson's talked about
the group of death that they're in. We hear that
with the World Cup every year. Now we're here with
the Club World Cup. What are your realistic expectations? What

(01:09:08):
do you want to see from the local side.

Speaker 15 (01:09:10):
I want to see four points out of the group.
If they can wow, I think, yeah, it's a lofty
goal and expectation. I think for me it'd have to
be Botafogo. I think that's probably the most. They're incredibly good,
let's not get it wrong. But if you're talking about PSG,
who's going to play for a Champions League final, probably
not going to get a result against them, and then
you kind of have to go down the list. Athletico

(01:09:31):
Madrid has been in that same final before. Maybe you
get a draw and then maybe you pick up a
result against Botafogo somehow, some way. I don't know if
the Sounders will really change formation or if they want
to show that they can play with these teams in
a four two three one, but we've seen Schmitzer go
with five in the back, three in the back transitioning,
so it's going to be a toss up. I would
love to see four points. I'll take two, but you know,

(01:09:53):
I got.

Speaker 1 (01:09:53):
A good showing is is important? Are they going to
get healthier? Is Jordan back? Anybody even to come back
in the next two weeks?

Speaker 15 (01:09:59):
Yeah, so Jordan's on track to get back. I think
they'll hold him out of the next two MLS games,
That's that's my guess. And then yam Mar's got a
slight hamstring, I expect him to be okay. I mean,
the size of this guy's thighs are this four It
gets back quicker than the rest of us. And then
Jackson Reagan will be back in the fold. So those
were your two starting center backs at the start of
the year. I'm looking for them to get back into

(01:10:21):
the mix. And everyone's healthy at that point save for
kim Key heat potentially.

Speaker 1 (01:10:25):
Yeah, and the hard part is you mention you got
two matches what Minnesota Vancouver between now and man so challenging.
Give me a tease for soccer this weekend.

Speaker 14 (01:10:32):
Yeah, we got game coming up on Sunday. It is
a two thirty pre game and three o'clock kickoff against
Minnesota at lumen Field.

Speaker 1 (01:10:40):
Right here in ninety three point three is a team
they've despite all the injuries, is climbing up the standings
pretty quickly. Somehow Smith knows what he's doing.

Speaker 4 (01:10:47):
He's all right.

Speaker 14 (01:10:48):
If a kid like Obed Vargas has a big performance
in these three club World Cup games.

Speaker 3 (01:10:53):
Value has one value players, exactly.

Speaker 14 (01:10:56):
You have the value of a guy like Obed Vargas
if he has a good game on a world stage
like this. Oh boy, But you look at Stuart Hawkins's
eighteen years old. He might have to play and if
he's a standout, that's a It's a great opportunity for
the youngsters to take that next step board that they've
always dreamed about.

Speaker 1 (01:11:11):
Brad, thanks coming in. Appreciate Brad Evans. You'll carry him
on the broadcast Sunday. I'm just kidding. Yeah no, I'm
on this broadcast. I'm on a little vacation weekend.

Speaker 15 (01:11:18):
Yeah what, but I will block as he leaves this room,
I'm gonna block this trophy.

Speaker 10 (01:11:24):
You.

Speaker 3 (01:11:24):
I'm coming for you.

Speaker 1 (01:11:25):
Big thanks to the group from FIFA for bringing this
in too. This is like a really cool thing Jackson
mentioned was gonna happen yesterday. We'll send some pictures out
and you guys can check it out. I'm sure it's
going to make the media too around here. But can't wait.
That's June fifteenth at Luminfield the first match, two matches
in between two thirty pre game for Jackson and the
crew on Sunday. I will take a break checking with
Dick Fane next. Big thanks to FIFA and the Seattle

(01:11:55):
Sounders FC for bringing in the Club World Cup trophy.
Thanks awesome things pretty wildsome it's pretty wild. I tweeted
some stuff out on the KJR account too. Jackson and
Anders in Heaven. Jackson somehow survived the FIFA security not
killing him for getting too close to it, breathing on it,
drooling on it, what have you. That thing was cool though,

(01:12:16):
good a Brad Evans in here is fun and June
fifteenth is the first match here Braddell on the air. Yeah, Brad,
him and Danny do a great job.

Speaker 4 (01:12:24):
Awesome job on.

Speaker 7 (01:12:26):
I've done many Sounders events with Brad. He's great, really good.

Speaker 1 (01:12:29):
D Dick Fane is here. We're watching the memorial presented
by Workday second round.

Speaker 5 (01:12:33):
So your boy, uh, just let's let's look at the
DraftKings odds here, Hels Marikaw Colin just went from plus
three sixty to plus fourteen hundred thanks to that double
bogie in that last hole.

Speaker 1 (01:12:43):
Yeah, I can relate double bogie on seventeen. I just
did that the other day. Actually, I could totally relate
to that. That's fine. I mentioned to you guys earlier
for golfers for watching this tournament this weekend, this might
be the most relatable tournament you can watch during the
year because the course as hard as hell. Uh, there's
guys trying to tempt shots that we you know that
just don't work. Ball doesn't move, doesn't roll. What have you,

(01:13:05):
and it's like it's relatable. Like that's as piss as
he ever gets right there. Yeah, I mean, I mean
it's a it's a US open track.

Speaker 7 (01:13:15):
I mean that's what it is.

Speaker 5 (01:13:16):
It's a it's US open hard where minus eight the
minus ten is gonna.

Speaker 1 (01:13:19):
Win this thing. Oh my god, crazy stuff. Dick is here,
He's got a storm game tonight. Yeah, they're a little
bit of a role right now. Yeah, they're play It's
weird there. They they either play awesome or they played terrible.
They played a terrible couple of times. They played awesome
for three games. There hasn't been a lot of just
like games that they three, three and two.

Speaker 11 (01:13:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:13:39):
Yeah, Boston Minnesota best team in the league.

Speaker 5 (01:13:40):
Maybe, No, I think New York is probably the best
team in the league.

Speaker 1 (01:13:47):
Yeah, And uh, I don't know if you if you
saw this earlier as well. We we had some fun
with Joy Taylor. Did you see her a little? I
know you watch a lot of Colin Coward on f
S one her rant about how Aaron Rodgers wasn't at
OTAs for the Steelers.

Speaker 7 (01:14:03):
Oh no, I don't watch the Joy Show. I watched Coward.

Speaker 1 (01:14:06):
Yeah, it was classic he's not signed. By the way, Joy,
I heard you.

Speaker 5 (01:14:09):
Talking about that today, So like she was just assuming
that he was going to show up.

Speaker 7 (01:14:14):
Without a contract.

Speaker 1 (01:14:16):
Somebody texted it on the text line like what is
it like, Uh, Willie mays Hayes in Major League just
runs drills in the pajamas or just show up there
like in the uniform. Yeah, that's pretty much what she expected.

Speaker 11 (01:14:27):
Hey.

Speaker 5 (01:14:28):
By the way, I did a show with Johnny Positive
over here in the other room and two days.

Speaker 3 (01:14:32):
Ago, like that suck.

Speaker 5 (01:14:35):
He's making fun of me for saying the Mariners shouldn't
be fifteen to one to win the World Series, and
then they're just They've been absolutely dogging craps since then.

Speaker 4 (01:14:44):
Last two days have been the worst games of the year.

Speaker 3 (01:14:47):
I blame you.

Speaker 5 (01:14:48):
You went on what and then not only did I
win on Wednesday, Yesterday was one of the few days.

Speaker 7 (01:14:53):
I mean, I I can't.

Speaker 1 (01:14:55):
Sit and watch three hours of baseball.

Speaker 7 (01:14:56):
It's just it's just not my jam.

Speaker 4 (01:14:58):
You watched every out.

Speaker 5 (01:14:59):
I watched every out and it got so on Wednesday.
I was at the game Wednesday lost, yes, and then
I watched every out of last night's game. I'm just like,
what am I doing to myself.

Speaker 4 (01:15:14):
That's what I thought. I had my postgame show last night.

Speaker 1 (01:15:17):
Last night was the game that they have won all year, right,
lose down to nothing to a bad team, come back,
tied it to and then have like but then they
have the multiple the bases loaded with one well runner
on third, nobody out, bases loaded with nobody with one out,
couldn't push a run across.

Speaker 7 (01:15:34):
Randy Rosarinez and bats were fabulous.

Speaker 4 (01:15:36):
He's broken right now, He's broken.

Speaker 3 (01:15:40):
I don't know which one was worse.

Speaker 5 (01:15:41):
The way he tried to hit it to Bellingham with
the bases loaded and he and he struck out.

Speaker 1 (01:15:45):
The pop out was really good. First and second. This
week is broken my god.

Speaker 4 (01:15:54):
Oh man.

Speaker 5 (01:15:55):
Oh Anyway, though I will I will agree with anders
on like can can we only pitched munos for.

Speaker 1 (01:16:01):
Twelve well because the two things that can jump out? Okay,
and Crawford addressed it yesterday with Hancock because Hancock leaves
sixty four pitches, sixty five pitches one out in the
sixth and it's like, really, and I've been pitching Gray,
hadn't been pitching Grey, but you know he he liked
the matchup. Okay, so we'll dance with you on that Yes, yes, Danny,

(01:16:23):
Danny boy Wilson, we'll dance with you on that one.
But then yeah, Munos comes out, hasn't pitched.

Speaker 2 (01:16:27):
In forever, six days, and it had a twelve pitch
ninth inning.

Speaker 1 (01:16:31):
There was back out. He just dominated an easy twelve
pitch ninth inning, just cruising through. And then no, we're
gonna go to Colin Snyder.

Speaker 5 (01:16:39):
Yeah, in the game, you need to have yees se man.
The Colin Snyder experience was something yesterday. It's like the
Jordan's experience.

Speaker 2 (01:16:49):
Basically the same Lineupey Pelonco is still playing, he's not injured,
don't worry.

Speaker 7 (01:16:52):
About swing a bat or can only bunt? You can
only bunt.

Speaker 1 (01:16:56):
Okay, So they're gonna got a second.

Speaker 4 (01:16:59):
To love this team.

Speaker 1 (01:17:01):
So they're gonna they're gonna basically, Minnesota is gonna play
it like it's like fast pitch, high school fast pitch.
It's like everyone's gonna creep in the on the corners
and wait for the wait for the slap bunt.

Speaker 5 (01:17:10):
That's what you should do, a little slappy and run
the first Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:17:14):
The drag bunt.

Speaker 1 (01:17:15):
Watch they'll sweep the Twins. You guys will be fine.
I said this the other day. Though I said this
the other day, I should take some blame too, because
after the first win, what did I say, We did
Molly wap on Wednesday. So once they complete the sweep
against the it's your fault to you totally on. Once
they complete the sweep against the Nationals. What my question was,
what do we want to see him do against the Twins?

(01:17:35):
Two and one? We're happy with that.

Speaker 7 (01:17:39):
That's double minus.

Speaker 5 (01:17:42):
Hey, alright, puge Sound Athlete bracket today, Best puge of
sound athlete.

Speaker 1 (01:17:45):
Do you have your do you have your winner? Give
me some names, real fo.

Speaker 7 (01:17:48):
Freddy Couples is the number one that's got.

Speaker 6 (01:17:53):
Stop.

Speaker 5 (01:17:55):
We got we got Michelle Akers, we got Jamal Crawford.

Speaker 1 (01:18:00):
We got Michelle Acres, is sneaky good.

Speaker 7 (01:18:01):
We got Ron Santo.

Speaker 1 (01:18:03):
We got Ron I think from Spokane.

Speaker 5 (01:18:07):
Santo's from cheap Blake Snell don't have Blake Snell, don't.

Speaker 4 (01:18:15):
I mean, so does Blake Snow That's right?

Speaker 1 (01:18:16):
Yeah, we got a Liberty High School there in written.

Speaker 6 (01:18:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:18:19):
So Michelle Acres, I would say, is a quiet, sneaky.

Speaker 5 (01:18:23):
Michelle Acres is the FIFA Player of the Century, not decade,
not year century.

Speaker 1 (01:18:30):
I got Jackson here trying to tell us to get going,
and like and unlike some like hope never embarrassed anybody. Okay,
I get that joke. Dick Fane for the mild mannered
and marginally objectionably Inverness. This is paddle day saying so
long everyone,
