Speaker 1 (00:00):
No from the Star Rentals Sports to us Jordan ninety
three point three KJRFMS sports headlines.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Headlines brought to you by Frostbreued cors Lte choose Chill.
Mariners continue to roll along. Yeah, they lost yesterday, but
we don't care. They won the series where the Rangers
took two of three. They've won eight straight series. Next
up they take on the Athletics in Sacramento tonight.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
Stupid Northern sacrament I have.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
No idea First round the NHL Playoffs concluding the weekend
two game sevens. They are both really good. Stars, move
on four to win over the Avalanche came back from
a two goal deficit and get that victory, leaving Colorado
shaking its head what the hell happened? Winnipeg, in one
of the most incredible comebacks ever, beat the Blues in
double overtime at home without their best four, without their
(00:46):
best defenseman. That was the same with the Dallas Stars,
by the way, final score four to three. More on
that in the Daily Power Play. Remarkable comeback there Round
two Stars. Tonight Game one Panthers leaves at five o'clock.
NBA Playoffs Round one saw some game sevens as well,
Denver moves on after being the Clippers. How is it, LA,
We'll get to you guys in a second, solid.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Said postseason, they would let that happen.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Solid solid year in pro sports in LA. Warriors took
down the Rockets one oh three eighty nine and a thriller.
I use that sarcastically. They go to the conference semi
finals as well. Pacers took Game one from the Cavs
yesterday one twenty one, one twelve. Nick Celtics to night
Game one of that series. Nuggets Thunders in Game one.
Let's go Denver, come on. Sounders also had a strong match,
(01:29):
beat Saint Louis four to one the final. Next up,
they take on Houston in Houston on Saturday. I did
laugh about LA for a second. So Lakers, Clippers, Kings
all make the playoffs, Sanley Cup playoffs, NBA playoffs. Two
teams in the NBA playoffs, one team in the Sanle
Cup playoffs. Now they're in we A don't have an
(01:49):
NBA team here and be our hockey teams missed the
playoffs three or four years have been in existence. Okay, sure,
but I don't know what's worse. I guess it. I
guess it would be worse not to get in or
not to have a team. But I do have to chuckle.
Lebron Lakers out, Steve Balmer screaming in, yelling and dancing
(02:09):
around like a fool, your clippers and your brand new
into it Dome.
Speaker 3 (02:14):
Out, flying his bands to Denver.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Yep, and the LA Kings out first round again at
the expense of the same team that's happened at half
a decade now, the Edmonton Oilers, and they fired their
GM slash president today and Rob Blake, who's basically a
legend there as a player. So yeah, man, tough doing. Okay,
we move on. I just I should not take delight
(02:39):
in that, but I do because I just don't like LA.
And I think what what the Dodgers did in the
off season. They're sitting there at twenty three and eleven
on the season, which is a really good mark. It's
better actually in terms of winning percentage of even the Mariners.
But the Marriors are good twenty and thirteen now. They
have a one game lead in their division. They are
playing really really good baseball. They are also one game
(03:00):
leading the division. They got a couple of games leading
the division, but they are playing great baseball. We're all
trying to figure out how they're playing great baseball. We'll
talk with the Mollywop guys coming up in a second.
I heard Mark talking about when we driving in. One
of the things that's a challenge with this team in
terms of the fan base is, oh, two things. One
(03:23):
is new guy listening.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
I would hope. So if he's still in the office,
our show would be playing.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Because he was going bananas about this. I told him
my check on it. Okay, are the Mariners selling Blue
Jays gear in their store?
Speaker 4 (03:37):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yeah, the answer is no.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Good.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
So let's get that out there. Okay, because we have
narratives that are out there and I'm just like Reddit
or something. No, I'm not playing Mark. Mark would know,
but somebody texted it in.
Speaker 5 (03:50):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
We can never ever treat the text line like its
gospel unless it's Keith Miller. He then Keith Miller. You
get what he says is the gospel.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
He has interesting gospel.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
But I'm guilty, but we're all guilty. But people text
something in the go all that must be a fact.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
No, yeah, we check on it.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
They have all they you know they have they have
a Blue Jay's hat they sell. Now you're gonna say, oh,
what are you doing. They actually have all thirty hats
for sale for all baseball teams in there, so that's
the only thing they have for sale of another team.
They are so bad information. Years ago they did it
and there was a backlash and they haven't done it since.
(04:27):
So there is no Blue Jays gear in And why
is this even relevant, because ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,
the Blue Jays are here coming up this weekend after
this little series with the A's, and we'll get to
that later in the week. Whenever one gets to an uproar,
it was, oh my god, Blue Jay fans were here.
They're taking over the ballpark. I can't believe people let them.
I can't believe the Mariners sell tickets to they m
(04:48):
blah blahh Okay. First of well, it's a business, like
if you want to be in the Mariners, then you're
a fool that their job is to sell tickets. They
don't care who is who they sell tickets to. You know, hey,
we went through this li 's fall with the Seahawks.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
I'll go to my grave saying that at least a
percentage of the reason that Pete Carroll was let go
was And I've got a pretty good feeling that this
is accurate because I've been told it's kind of accurate.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
Ian has sources people.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
I'm just gonna say. One of the things that drove
Jody allen Embert cold as well nuts the last year
Pete was here was the takeover of lumin Field by opposing.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Fans because the Seahawks were the opposite of.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
That and they had always ticket But now all of
a sudden, Lumanfield didn't have that or anymore because people
were bought selling their tickets. Why do you sell tickets
because the product isn't good enough. The product isn't compelling enough.
Your team that you bought season tickets for it's not
playing to the level you want to play it. Now,
there's a financial thing too, If you can make your
(05:53):
money back by selling tickets to one game whatever. I
get that, and that's short choice. You bought the tickets.
I hate it myself, but that's it. The Blue Jays
game coming up this weekend. You know what I told
Mark this. If you're the ones complaining, are you are
you buying tickets this weekend? There's one way to keep
the Blue Jay fans out, and it's not a tarif
from Donald Trump. It's all it is is simply, you
(06:14):
buy a ticket, you go to the game, you wear
your Mariners gear, and you cheer your ass off for
a team that is playing great baseball right now, and
a team that, frankly, I mean second best record in
the American League. I mean their run differential is, you know,
plus twenty nine, which is what number two in this league?
(06:34):
Detroit's plus sixty three. By the way, my god.
Speaker 6 (06:38):
I know what I mean, what the heck for like
a brief moment in time over the weekend, the Mariners
did have the top seed in the AL, which I
enjoyed for that brief but I like the.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Run differential number, and it's plus sixty three for Detroit,
plus twenty nine for the Mariners Yankees or plus fifty two.
They're here, by the way, next week we get back
to the m So this is the thing. This is
year forty nine of this is the nine season in
Mariner's history. And you know when I heard Mark talking
about it earlier and he was asking about it, are
they this team that was three and seven to start
(07:09):
the year with like he gave a bunch of different options.
It's a good question because people are I don't think
people are willing to let themselves enjoy this. And I
noticed that this weekend with some friends. We did some
stuff this weekend and had a couple of little get togethers,
and I just Mariner fans are so scarred, they're so
(07:32):
scarred they will not let themselves. I put myself in
that category. We will not let ourselves enjoy it. We
will not let ourselves enjoy the fact that this team
is really good. And I say that because it's somewhat
smoking mirrors are doing with this patchwork, crappy offensive linemen
line lineup on paper that's kind of top heavy. But
(07:55):
then you look at and say, well, wait, their pitching
staff has been okay, hasn't been lights out, rotation, starting, rotation,
Kirby's out, Gilbert's out right, You got all these things.
They'll get better, Like in theory, they're gonna get better
as a year goes on. Julio is gonna get better
as a year goes on. But when you've only been
(08:17):
to the postseason five times in forty eight previous seasons,
then the doubts creep in. I know that there's an
anti ownership sentiment in this town. I set it on
an opening day. I'm gonna say it again. I'll yell
it from the mountaintops. I get it. I'm not a
(08:38):
John Stanton fan in any way, shape or form. You
can add all the minority owners like he did on
Friday that you want, you know, to get a little
piece of the pie. I don't care. Fans don't care.
I think it's not even close. And one of the
teams doesn't even really have a true ownership thing right
now because it's kind of in a trust. It's the
(08:58):
worst ownership in Sea. Iut'll buy a lot and has
been forever. Really make an argument. I don't like you've
ever had good ownership ever in forty nine years. Now
you season forty nine. But that doesn't take away from
the baseball team. That should not take away from the
baseball team. But I understand the trepidation. I understand why
people are hesitant to jump on board. I understand why
(09:22):
people are not excited or they're very hesitant to get
too excited. There's also the baseball guy thing. Baseball guy says,
hey can't get two up or two. Do you know
for you games and series? Yeah, you can. You enjoy
the games, watch the games, enjoy the games, get fired
up about the games. The thing is right now, this
(09:43):
is a team that, frankly, I think it's not a stretched.
If they don't make the playoffs, it's a catastrophic collapse.
It's like what happened to Colorado and the playoffs on Saturday.
It's what happened to the Saint Louis Blues up to
with two minutes to go last night. It's a collapse
of catastrophe. They should be a playoff team. You should
(10:05):
enjoy it. You should enjoy it. I hope you enjoy it.
I hope you look forward to watching the games on
MLB TV, your Root Sports or the Root Sports streaming
app or wherever you're watching him. I hope you go
to the games. We'll probably give away tickets for the
Blue Jays game this weekend. We'll try to make it
so it's non Canadian. And I say that as half Canadian,
but we'll try to do that. We know where you're loyal,
(10:26):
but I think, but I hope we just are able
to enjoy what's taking place right now, sports and the
entertainment value of sports. A lot of times does hinge
on wins and losses. It just does. If your team's winning,
you're a lot more engaged. It's a lot more enjoyable.
Losses hurt more. Wins feel great, but every game feels
(10:48):
like it's relevant. This team appears will be playing relevant
games all season long. That's pretty awesome, and it hasn't
happened all too often. I mean, just you look at
their their franchise history. The crazy thing is right now,
at twenty and thirteen, a six h six winning percentage,
just that would be their second best winning percentage of
(11:09):
all time if they kept on that pace the rest
of the season, only the two thousand and one team
had a better winning percentage than that. This team's never
had success, And I understand why fans don't get fired up.
And I understand why fans have that the governor on
so to speak, on the on the on the gas pedal,
not wanting to get fired up. I get it. I
get it. Five never a World Series, five playoff appearances
(11:31):
in forty eight seasons, a long drought without one in between.
I get it. We all understand it. But let's enjoy
it now. One guy that I'm not sure if he
can enjoy is Nathan Bishop, but we'll see. He's join
us next, Chris Crawford. I know we'll enjoy it because
he's a lot more pleasant of a human being. Our
two friends, the Mollywop guys, Nathan Bishop Chris Crawford will

him at some point as well. They're all here today,
cruising along. It is another nice week. Eight straight series wins.
Tonight they start a series against the Athletics, not anything
in terms of a city, the homeless nomads that are
the Athletics. We'll get to them in a second. In
(14:21):
the first stuff, let's we always do this. We'll just
kind of keep it simple. Let's see, we've got Josh
Medding Sorry, Ian, Yeah, screw you, uh yes on the streamyard.
You gotta love these guys. Is Ian defense matters, says
Anders Monday version of Jessemin and Nathan.
Speaker 5 (14:42):
This is what happens when they're good I just have
no juice. I don't know what to tell you.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
I mean, be a hot dog. It's built into your name.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
Oh god, all right, Nathan has no juice because the
m's one eighth straight. Seriously, you can start with no juice.
Go ahead, you know.
Speaker 5 (14:58):
You know what's I was thinking about before you were
to come on today. It's we're I think a little
over thirty games. We're about twenty percent of the way
through the season, and it's enough time, y'all. Where like
I think, it's time where what the team is doing
on the field starts to outweigh the things we expected
them to do before the season started, if that makes
any sense. Like I did not expect this offense to
(15:19):
be good. I don't think anybody really expected them to
be good. But twenty percent of a baseball season is
not a small period of time. It's not a huge
sample size, but it's also not small. And if you
trace it back, I know a lot of people have
cited this if you trace it back, because the team
didn't make any moves at all in the offseason. Thank
you very much for doing that. We've had the same
group of guys together going back to when Edgar Martinez
(15:41):
and the coaching change happened in late August. You can
trace it back to that, and this offense has been
good for almost half of a baseball season going back
to last year. So I'm really delighted in this idea
that you know, sometimes baseball just really throws you on
your butt and makes you feel like the dumbest person alive.
Not an uncommon feeling for myself personally, but this is
(16:03):
just a blast.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
I mean, what are you.
Speaker 5 (16:04):
Supposed to say negative about this team when they've won
eight series in a row. It's been almost a month
since they've lost a series. So do I expect it
to continue like this?
Speaker 8 (16:14):
No?
Speaker 5 (16:14):
I don't at all. And they still only have I
think a two game lead over the team that they're
starting a series with tonight. It could all fall apart
very quickly. But hypothetically, this team has been doing this
without their best foot forward. Their rotation is not together,
the lineup keeps losing a guy every other night, and
they just keep getting huge performance after huge performance from
guys that don't feel like the kinds of guys you
(16:37):
would expect to be putting together huge performances. So I'm
delighting in my ignorance and having a really really great time.
I just don't have any juice.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Do you want to do you want? Well, I'll see
you up for Ben Williamson's offense later and I appreciate that.
I'll make you keep that. That'll get you back on
brand and make everyone a lot more comfortable here. In
the meantime, we'll go to the guy that is usually
glass at fall, Christopher Craft, and yet he's.
Speaker 9 (17:02):
Gonna be a little empty. If you are one of
these people who like to listen to Molly Watt Monday
to hear me and Nathan get our old muppet voices
on some signs of scary these last two games. Number one,
they only scored three runs over the last two games.
That's not very good. One of those games against Patrick
(17:23):
frickin' Corbin, a guy that they should absolutely be molly wopping,
hashtag pending or trademark bending, whichever one you want to
go with. And then Logan Evans looked pretty darn bad
in his last start. There's my negativity. The positivity is
this team has been playing fantastic baseball. The defense has
been so good. The starts from Luis Castillo, the two
(17:46):
that he made this week were so good. The bullpen
for the most part, has been pretty darn solid. This
has been fun, and I know I said it a
bunch last week. It's been really fun. And you take
a look at what else is going on in that division. Okay,
Oakland and I'm gonna keep calling them Oakland. Yes, all right,
we'll see what happens over these next three The Houston
(18:07):
Astros are going to be without jor Don Alvarez with
a hand injury. What a bummer. Hope you end up fine,
but maybe take the year off the Oakland. The Los
Angeles Angels are absolute garbage. And if you watch that
Ranger series, did that really look like a contender to you?
Now there's some guys who are going to start playing better,
but did that really look like a contender to you?
(18:28):
Sure didn't look like one to me. This is pretty fun.
The last two games a little bit of a concern,
but what they have done over the last two weeks
deserves all the commendations that you can give them.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Okay, and I want to try to keep listen. We
need to enjoy this. I'd mentioned our first segment today
in four nine, four to five one. People can text
in I mean, it's just are you a very simple question?
You let yourself enjoy this yet? And we know why
people don't. We know why. Sure, we all know why, Nathan, Chris,
we know why, right, we know why they're that people
are hesitant to just get fired up and sided one.
(19:01):
And I don't use this term lightly for YouTube. I'm
not even referring to YouTube. But you know, one baseball
guy tells people never to get excited about games and
series until it's like August or September, and so we've
been all guilted into not being you know, not being
able to enjoy the games as a fan. But more importantly,
forty eight years. This is year forty nine, but forty
eight previous year's five playoff appearances. There's a reason. And
(19:23):
a thirteen game lead in June last year, ten game
leader of the break last year, we all know what happened.
So I understand why there's some trepidation. I understand why
there is some worry. But Chris go back to you
and then they jump in. The team is eleven and
four against their own division right now, and I think,
if for no other reason, then the division isn't good.
Like all you have to do is win your division.
(19:44):
I say, all you have to do. They've only done
that three times in their history, three times in forty
eight years. Seems rather well, it seems not good. But
this particular division, LA's awful minus sixty four in run
different so let's just wipe that away. You have to
beat three other teams in your division Texas minus eighteen
(20:06):
run differential, and we've seen that team now six times
in sales one, five or six. Do they scare you, No,
athletics minus twenty two run differential. Houston's always the one, right,
They're a plus thirteen run differential with some of their
issues along the way. But Chris, if for no other
reason are you the tallest short person and that you
should win this division, I can't use the other term obviously.
Speaker 9 (20:27):
Thank you for not using that other term, because I
have like four other jobs that I need to keep.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
That is.
Speaker 9 (20:34):
That is kind of the thing though. It's like, you
can be optimistic with how the Mariners are playing, but
you can also glean some Shuden freud from the fact
that this division sucks out loud like there are massive
issues with pretty much every team in this division. Now,
does that include the Mariners. Of course it does, but
the other teams just aren't good. Like you take a
(20:56):
look at that Houston team, and sure they fooled me
last year barely. They just ended up. They get to
the playoffs and got beaten by Detroit pretty quickly. I
think they took advantage of a division that was clearly
on the decline. Boy, Texas just looks awful. They turned
into the Seattle Mariners so fast nobody noticed because they're
pitching has been really good and their offense is just hot,
(21:17):
flaming garbage. Oakland is a team that has some really
good young players, but they have terrible patients out the
play and if you can get to their starters and
not get to that bullpen, which is a really good bullpen,
you're gonna have a good time. And you mentioned the
Angels are also a baseball team. That is the ultimate
reason for optimism is because this division sucks eggs and
(21:40):
the Seattle Mariners are the best of the egg suckers.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Tallest short person.
Speaker 5 (21:46):
Yes, continue, I think science is still out on whether
the Angels are actually a baseball team or not, so
we're back on that one because that is a truly
atrocious baseball team, they've come back to Earth. Fine, I
think the thing is so obviously I I think probably
Ian and I are probably in close competition for the
people that bring most viscerally the baggage of forty eight
(22:07):
years of the Seattle Mariners to this run. Because the
oldest no, Chris, is older than I am.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
He's just a much better person.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
True, But I.
Speaker 5 (22:18):
Think that if you can separate yourself from that, the
difference with this run that the Mariners have been on,
and I have been watching this team really closely my
whole life, and I've been watching them during this run
that I would probably call twenty twenty one to now
where they've honestly been more competitive than they have not
been competitive throughout that series, but a lot of the
times it felt really really rickety when you would watch
(22:39):
them play. They were winning a lot of flukey games,
a lot of one run games, a lot of things
that felt like they were not dependable. If you I
still don't believe the name in the names on the
back of these jerseys, but if you wipe the names
off of those the back of those jerseys and watch
this team play baseball, they are kicking teams ass like
that's the thing full stop. They are dominating on the
(23:00):
baseball field. So it's like you get to a certain
point when they've done this for like you said, I
think eight straight series. Are they gonna do it for
the rest of the year. I don't know, man, But
it doesn't have to be that. You just have to
do this for maybe this long and even if they
revert back to what we thought they were going to
be for the rest of the way, they may have
already done enough in this division in order to be
able to win the division. Now, obviously that could darken
(23:22):
the Skies. I may have just cast a horrible jinx
and hecks upon them. I've been known to do it before.
But it logically speaking, if you're just talking about a
normal baseball team and not the Seattle Mariners, this is
what a good baseball team looks like, even if they
don't hold.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
This up for the rest of the way.
Speaker 9 (23:40):
I just want to very important baseball point. Me being
the best of these people is the definition of being
the tallest little person. That's fine.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
I'm just as the best of us.
Speaker 9 (23:52):
Oh, there's no doubt about it.
Speaker 7 (23:53):
You know.
Speaker 6 (23:53):
I've been tackling behind the scenes and purposely made sure
that my mic was not only off but down because
of how loud my cackle has been. You guys are
the entertainers, and this is just the Monday version of me.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
So wait till we get some hunt.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
Guys.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
Why did I say that?
Speaker 4 (24:09):
Damn it?
Speaker 2 (24:10):
I don't know what would they be. I'm just trying
to figure out. They're on pace right now for one
hundred wins. Wow. Yeah, I think ninety seven or so. Wow.
Speaker 5 (24:22):
And and I would add that the projections if you
go over to Baseball Perspectives, which has a really highly
thought of system called Pakoda, they've bought in. They have
this team at ninety two wins at the end of
the season and the best record in the American League.
And that's the kind of that kind of analytical buy in.
I've not seen that with this current iteration of the
Seattle mar Well. There's something going on there.
Speaker 6 (24:44):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (24:44):
Like if they played five hundred all the rest of
the way, there's still maybe a playoff team for.
Speaker 4 (24:49):
Sure, not sure.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
But if they played five hundred the rest of the way,
they finish seven games, about five hundred, they're damn close, right.
Speaker 9 (24:56):
I think it would have made it was they finished
eight games over five hundred last year and finished one
game out. So if they play, if they played at
that five hundred pace over the next how many of
her games are left, they would be pretty darn close
to the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
It's also it also goes back to why like all
these games are important and early in the season is important,
Like you've built yourself a cushion for the first time
in a long time. Yeah, you know, just go back
to the mindset for a second of fans and again
we'll get some texts and hopefully a talkback or two.
Go the iHeart radio app or talkbacks were brought to
you by iHeart by a frostbrewed Corse light. She's chill.
Go the iHeart Radio app and you can fire up.
(25:30):
You know, Chris, you know you're you're interacting with people
on Mile Why all the time, Nathan, You're doing the
light back and interacting with people and we all kind
of hear from folks. Chris, why is it do you
think that people aren't buying in or won't buy in?
Is it just is it just like it's it's PTSD
or something. Yeah, it's the opposite of Stockholm syndrome. It
is the so many years of this happening in a
(25:53):
row that you just don't want to believe. I think
Nathan's point like taking a look at a lineup that
has Leo Reebis and my master Bony and a player
in Ben Williamson who doesn't have a track record of
offensive success. Seeing that be a third of your lineup
an awful lot scares people. And then Rowdy Teles's adds
to that as well, that about half of your lineup
(26:14):
is incomplete.
Speaker 9 (26:15):
To be nice. And then when you add in the
fact that we have been heartbroken so many times by
this team having talented players and not being able to
finish the job or just not get into the job entirely.
If you consider the job the postseason, I understand fans frustrations.
I think this year feels different. I think part of
(26:37):
it is because I am such a big fan. We
talked a lot about Edgar Kevin Seitzer's gotta get talked
about more. Man the job that he is doing with
these guys, working with them every day. There's a reason
he was in Atlanta for a decade, a decade of
some pretty good offensive teams and working with some good
hitters Like I love Edgart don't get me wrong. He
(26:58):
called me a cool grandson once and it's still highlight
of my life. But Kevin Sitzer doesn't get nearly enough
credit for what he's doing. I know coaching staffs are scapegoats,
but there is just something different about watching this team.
But the answer your question, it's because people won't believe
that it's actually happening until it actually happens, and this
(27:18):
team is in the postseason and competing for a world title.
Speaker 2 (27:21):
Nathan who has the advantage in terms of hitting coaches
in the als? Seattle or Texas?
Speaker 5 (27:27):
Well, I'm my understandings that Texas just made a new hire.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
Here.
Speaker 5 (27:30):
We've got breaking news. Former Seattle Mariner great and I
believe regular guest on kJ R ninety three point three FM,
Brett Boone has been named the hitting coach of the
Texas Rangers.
Speaker 9 (27:43):
Are you so serious?
Speaker 8 (27:44):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (27:45):
This is true, This is true.
Speaker 9 (27:46):
Holy crap on a crack by the way, let me,
let me, let me just can.
Speaker 5 (27:49):
You imagine that I'd be like naming Dan Wilson is
your managers?
Speaker 9 (27:55):
Why I'm back, I'm back.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
Let's start the show.
Speaker 9 (27:59):
You guys ready, uh man, softy, don't call me you're
looking for someone to replace.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Well, here's the thing. Yeah, first ly, correct, you want
a couple one thing, Nathan, he's former weekly guest on
the Dave Softy Maller Show. Because now he's a hitting
coach in Texas OS that's coming it. In fact, I
think both his weekly guests. Isn't Susan get a job
this year over Susas too? You know, hey, if you're
an ex ballplayer, just as a side note, and you
want a job in Major League baseball coaching, get on
(28:25):
a Softy show every week because you'll get hired. You'll
get hired. You get obviously, you get hired. Uh where
worried you lost me with Dan Wilson, Nathan, I don't
even know where we're at.
Speaker 9 (28:35):
Well, you were.
Speaker 5 (28:36):
Talking about the the opposite of Stockholm syndrome, as as
Chris said it. And I think the thing I talked
to because I'm an idiot and I'm on the internet
too much, there are a lot of younger Mariner fans
out there, and it's I really can't overstate and we
can't overstate how much of a crash course in being
a Seattle Mariners fan this organization gave them. Specifically last year,
(28:57):
Like if last year was your first Mariner season, like
you're first, you're being an Amarons fan. You got the
whole deal, man, Like you get it. You understand what
it is. The ten game lead in June that evaporated
in I think seventeen days or something like that. I
don't think that's an exaggeration. They lost it in such
amazingly quick fashion, followed by just barely missing out on
the playoffs for the second year in a row in
(29:18):
the third year and four years. I mean, how could
you blame anybody. We're just we learn based off of
our experiences as people and as fans, and like our
experiences with this organization is that they are going to
let us down. So if that's how you feel, that's
totally fine. I obviously am inclined to be that way.
And I will just say, like, the only thing that's
(29:39):
keeping me centered and keeping me just kind of cognizant
and open to the idea of a good outcome is
my kid, because he watches the games every single day,
and every day they win, and then he comes over
to me said, Dad, we want again.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
Are we good?
Speaker 5 (29:52):
And I can't look him in his face and say no,
Like Who am I to tell him that he's wrong. Man,
He's just got hope. He's got hope where mine years
and years ago. So I get why people are having
a hard time accepting it. The one thing I would
say is, don't do you will miss You will look
back on this season. If the Seattle marrin is make
win the division in twenty twenty five and you've spent
(30:14):
the two thirds of the season expecting the worst possible
outcoming for it to all go away, you're gonna look
back and regret on the joy that you missed out on.
And if they blow it and they screw up again, dude,
you know exactly what's gonna happen. You're just gonna turn
on this show on Monday and we're all gonna be
screaming at them and everything will be normal. So it's fine.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
Sure, wouldn't it be more what'd you say, Brett Boone
getting hired as a hinting coach in Texas? What's that
like again, Nathan?
Speaker 5 (30:39):
That'd be like hiring Dan Wilson as your manager, is
what I said.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
Yeah, Or maybe if they just hired like Pad Rodriguez
or something. Wouldn't that be close? I don't you know
that would be cool? What connections Brett Boone have to Texas?
Speaker 9 (30:52):
Ah? Good? He hit a lot of homers there. It
seems like we were having some success there. I uh,
I know that. I know it's got.
Speaker 4 (31:05):
Well.
Speaker 2 (31:05):
But but but but that's a weird hire, isn't it.
It does seem like a weird higher, like a very
weird there are that.
Speaker 5 (31:11):
Is such a legacy baseball family. I would imagine the
Boone family has contacts in all thirty baseball No probably point.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
Yeah, all right, listen, We're gonna have to go one
more segment. That's just the way it is, because I
got other questions to ask.
Speaker 4 (31:25):
We got it.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
We might have an announcement at the end. That's why.
Andres is here, Anders Wanders. Uh So, we got lots
going on. Come back Julio Rodriguez, Chris, I'll ask you
when we come back, just to I heard Mark and
and talk about Julio today, is do we still have
a Julio problem here? We'll talk about that next.
Speaker 7 (31:43):
Casting live from the R and R Foundation Specialist Broadcast Studio.
Now back to Ian Fornz, powered by Seattle's Closest sports book,
Snow Call Me Casino on Sports Radio ninety three point

Speaker 2 (31:59):
I want to say, Mollywog Monday brought to you by
Simply Seattle, Simply Seattle dot com. Ray and here you're
just landed. Also, Mom's Weekend, Mom's Day is on coming
up on Sunday. You can order stuff there, make it
very simple for your shopping Knees Molliwop fifteen at checkout.
Let's listen, we got an extra segment today because why
are baseball teams in first place? We're gonna enjoy this
while we can. It will indeed, so let's let me
(32:21):
get to Yeah, they were eight games above five hundred
last year, right, and they finished one game out of
a playoff spot, so effectively play relative even, just play
a little over five hundred the rest of the way
and you're you're right there. They've built themselves up a
really nice cushion. We know about the injuries. We you know,
Kirby sounds like he's close, right, you know he's getting there, right,
chrisy like that should be pretty close.
Speaker 9 (32:43):
So he made a rehab start on on Sunday, three innings.
I believe of scoreless baseball, maybe give up one run
doesn't matter. Big thing is that he got back on
the mound. I imagine you'll have to make two more.
So as long as everything goes right, he should be
back by the end of me.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
All right, tell me about who Julio, because he's still
a lightning rod for a lot of folks in this town.
He's hitting in just two twelve is on base percentage
of three eleven. He's he does it with the glove.
We've talked about it before. Thirty three strikeouts already, though
not as many as Earl's Arena. But he's he's still
It just feels like again another kind of slow start
(33:19):
for Julio. Should we be concerned? And I heard Mark
mentioned this earlier. Is part of the problem, swinging it
too many first pitches? Is he not doing himself any
favors when he goes up there in his approach?
Speaker 8 (33:32):
So?
Speaker 9 (33:33):
Yes and no, So it's worth pointing out. By the way,
I think he had a fantastic week. He had a
bunch of two to three reached games, hit the homer,
got a long double as well. I think he's starting
to see the baseball a little better. What the issue is,
I don't think it's Steady's swinging at the first pitch
too much. In fact, Julio Rodriguez's walk rate is pretty solid.
It's ten point six percent. That's in the sixty seventh
(33:55):
percentile of all hitters, So that's not elit, but it's
pretty dark good. I don't thinks that patience is the issue.
Swing decisions in the count, however, have been an issue
for him because if you take a look, he's still
swinging at too many pitches outside of the strike zone.
He is in the ninth percent Isle and chase rate
thirty six point six percent of the time, meaning that
(34:17):
over a third of the time he is swinging at
pitches outside of the strike zone. And he's still swinging
and missing too much thirty three point nine percent of
the time, so over a third there as well. But
what you're seeing is a lot of those swings and
misses are coming early in counts or sometimes on two
zero counts where he's being a little too aggressive. But
his strikeout percentage of twenty one point nine that's a
(34:39):
perfectly reasonable rate for a player like Julio Rodriguez, a
power hitting type player. It's not ideal, but it'll play.
I believe it's in the forty fifth percentile of all hitters.
So no, it's not just that Julio's going up there
and hacking too much. It's that Julios just isn't swinging
at enough quality strikes. Because when he is swinging at
quality strikes, things are going very well for him. Average
(35:01):
ex velocities one above average, expect it's lugging percentage is
well above average. Everything metric wise, except for swing and
miss for Julio Rodriguez has been fine. It would just
be nice to see giving hitters more reason to throw
the ball in the middle of the plate. It's not
that he's going up there and hacking too much. I
vehemently disagree with that notion. It's that he needs to
(35:25):
do a better job in counts where he gets ahead
of not swinging at pitches outside of the zone because
he makes up his mind. I think sometimes that he's
going to swing at those pitches when he's ahead and counts.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
Nathan, what's your what's your concern level offensively for this team?
Is it Julio is a fact that Jorge Polanco still
still doesn't can't, won't doesn't hit against left handed pitching. Uh,
what is I mean? Because or is it your guy,
Ben Williamson.
Speaker 5 (35:56):
Well, thank you again for putting that up on the
tee for me there Ian Uh. Concern for me is
that this team is getting crazy performances from so many
guys in their lineup right now. I think they have
nine players that have a WRC plus, which means that
over one hundred, which means that they're hitting above league average,
which is just very Unmarriner like. As far as the
stuff that that you actually have a struggle with, I
(36:17):
don't care what side Poorgey Polanco can swing one handed
and stand on whatever side of the play he wants.
As long as he hits the ball the way that
he's hitting right now, I do not care. It doesn't
matter to me at all. I do think that the
Ben Williamson thing is worth monitoring. Obviously, he got off
to a really nice start, but since he had a
home run middle of last month against Barrios in Toronto,
(36:40):
in forty five played appearances, he's hitting two thirty eight,
he's slugging two eighty six, and he's at three thirty
nine slugging on the year. If you had to bet
over under whether he finishes with a slugging higher or
lower than that. I am smashing the under because that
boy cannot hit for power. Not to degrade him as
a player. He has absolutely played d and he's gotten
(37:00):
on base Full credit to him there. But right now,
my biggest concern is that, you know, this team is
scoring runs and is a blast to watch play baseball
right now, but offensively, the big concern they are getting
so many, so so many career performances right now. That
the concern is what happens when Leo Rivas doesn't have
a three seventy five batting average, What happens when Jorge
(37:21):
Plonko isn't costplaying as two thousand and three Barry Bonds
the one that feels real big dump for baby. Yeah,
that guy may just be on an MVP. Chris spoken
into existence two weeks ago saying that Cal Rowley might
win an MVP some year. I don't see why he
can't be this year. Man, He is one of the
very best baseball players alive right now.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
For that guy in New York. Right if it wasn't
for the guy in New York, he'd be right there,
like like, honestly.
Speaker 5 (37:45):
I'd like to see that guy in New York get
behind the plate and play some defense because obviously Cal
can't compete with Judge's offense. But man, getting that kind
of that kind of product he leads baseball and home
runs you guys, yep, Like, I don't know, he's he's
right up there. He's one of the best players in baseball.
Speaker 10 (38:02):
Quick.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
Tip of the kid, real real quick. Before we wrap
things up, tip of the cap to Mitch Garver too,
who's not lighting the world on fire necessarily, but with
a four hundred on base percentage, it's great from him. Yeah,
with what happened last year, you know, and I don't
think that's one of those career years. It's not because
he's been a good hitter before, right, Like this is
like at last year might have been the anomaly and
(38:22):
this year maybe he's his regression back to the norm.
But good for him. I mean, he took a lot
of nonsense last year and some other some stuff on
social media and everything else. Yeah, so I'm I'm thrilled
to see what's going on with that guy. Okay, let
me wrap it up with I'll get to Christmas. Second, Nathan,
where can we find your work? And what kind of
week did they do this week? They've got hope you can.
Speaker 4 (38:40):
Argue with me.
Speaker 5 (38:41):
Yeah, you can argue with me about the Mariners on
Twitter or Blue Sky Nathan Underscore h Underscore B. Just remember,
if you yell at me, I get to yell back,
but I won't start it.
Speaker 4 (38:50):

Want to read longer form stuff from me, you can
check out the lightbat dot substack dot com. I'm really

I thought that it would have, so I'm super grateful

It's totally free.
Speaker 5 (39:04):
It's a twice weekly Marrinage newsletter going to cover the team,
hopefully in a way that you'll find entertaining and insightful. Theoretically.
A friend of ours said that it will make you
dumber and smarter at the same time as you read it.
I think that's a good summary. We've also got a
twice monthly podcast that we've put together, so the light
bat dot substack dot com. Your support really really really
means a lot to me.
Speaker 9 (39:24):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
And he uses big words. That's the part that makes
you smarter and then you feel dumber. Okay, Chris Mile,
why tonight I assume but this's moving ahead. Some changes.
Speaker 9 (39:35):
Maybe no mile Y tonight, there's well, there's going to
be a series preview. I have stopped doing daily recaps
for mile Y. Let me just real quick promote NBC Sports.
Please check out our work over there at roade A World.
Please check out Emerald City Spectrum. Ye local journalism. Yes,
please support it. It's an awesome thing. I just posted
something on the minor leaguers who were doing well and

not so well. Go check that out. It's very cheap
six dollars a month. And I'm gonna let that soccer
player tell you what's going on as well for us.
Speaker 11 (40:06):
Yeah, as you heard Chris, he's no longer doing myle
Why and hopefully he thinks it's for a really, really
good reason. Because we have an announcement that Chris Crawford
and myself will be hosting the Locked On Mariners postcast
after every Mariner's game. We'll be going live on YouTube.
I think we're aiming for at the latest next Monday,
(40:29):
so a week from today will be our first one.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
Yank you serious?
Speaker 4 (40:32):
Nice?
Speaker 11 (40:33):
Yes, I think that's a good one to get started on.
But yeah, I'm super excited. Chris has been awesome, and
you know we'll have some fun. So anyone who's been
watching myle Wye and enjoying it, just slide on over
to that locked on Mariners site YouTube page and you
will find us there basically doing the same thing and
doing it together.
Speaker 9 (40:49):
Chris, you're I know you're up against the break, but
really quick, myle why is not going anywhere? Just to
be clear for some folks, We're still gonna be doing
a ton of Mariner stuff and done a ton of
Seahawks stuff, cracking stuff. And I cannot appreciate the support
and how many people who reached out when I made
that announcement. This was a gut wrenching decision for me.
It was really really hard to make the move. But
(41:10):
it's too good an opportunity to work with my buddy Anders,
to work with those good people over there. So I
thank you very very much to everybody who reached out,
because it was really hard, but I'm really really excited
for the opportunity.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
You guys will do fun. I mean, I've always enjoyed it.
I kind of like I told you, I kind of
liked the Husky Hawks. I liked mile While a lot
better when things were going south like there was no
better year of Husky Hanks in two thousand and eight,
for example, But but no like in Marris Get Smoked.
Got to listen to What's going on the Meltdown. My
favorite mile Y episode ever, it was like forty three
(41:42):
seconds of what did you say? For forty three seconds?
Speaker 9 (41:45):
I nothing. I just said I don't have anything to
talk about. But my favorite episode was one which I
called detailed explanation of the Mariner sweep and I just said, warrant, warrant.
It was two seconds long. It was perfect.
Speaker 2 (41:58):
I'm assuming the new one will be better, all right,
Emerald see Spectrum to our buddy Corbyn Smith is also
on a lockdown thing, locked on CIX. Put that together.
Andrews has some sounder stuff Christas Kraken and Mariners and
especially Moner Weakue stuff. You guys want that, go check

(44:44):
we've got some interviews. On Friday last week, we had
a couple of Seahawks. Jamie Martinez was there, Bryce Cable
Doo was there. So we have those guys on, which
was cool. But here's what I want to do now.
I want to talk to some Seahawks and we'll get
back to the Mariners a minute, because they did have
the rookie meeting camp this weekend. Now it's funny I
(45:04):
look in over the years. Part of it is the
baseball team's playing better. So it's nice. We don't like,
we're not uber focused in on guys running around shorts
and a jersey and a helmet and stuff. Right now.
Speaker 3 (45:16):
It's not the only thing we have.
Speaker 4 (45:18):
No like.
Speaker 2 (45:19):
If this if the Mariners were sitting let me see
what these guys are again as a joke, Okay, if
the Mariners were the Angels and they're sitting at thirteen
and twenty seven games out minus sixty four run differential.
We'd probably do a deeper dive into mini camps in
OTA's not that we won't cover that. We will will,
but it was our first opportunity on Friday to go
out there and watch these guys on the field. And
(45:40):
we're gonna hear Mike McDonald in a second, and just
some quick thoughts afterwards. We'll comment on the other side,
just for context of what we were watching. And I know,
listen corbyin I love you, buddy. Certainly our guy, Corbin
Smith is our you know, he's our guy. Greg Bell
he hit the lottery, didn't have to be there because
his son was great du waiting. Shout out by the

Speaker 3 (46:01):
He was there Thursday, Yeah, but.
Speaker 2 (46:03):
He wasn't there for the practices.
Speaker 3 (46:04):
They didn't practice Thursday.
Speaker 2 (46:06):
Yeah but he but but you know, Hawk Blogger and Corbin,
these guys were breaking stuff down to the entrant. This
is what it's. This is how practices were. Okay, this
is what you On Friday. I watched as they split
the teams in half, and it was teams. It's basically
all rookies. Two guys were there, John Rees Plumley, who's
a converted quarterback into a wide receiver here at the
(46:27):
end of the season last season. And Jamie Sheriff, who
was a kind of an outstanding player last year for
them in training camp and made the team and went
to Carolina, got cut, came back. They're going to try
and move him as a stack linebacker. But they spent
the first ten minutes telling guys how to stretch. This
is how we do it. This is where you put
your helmet, this is what we do. So, I mean,
(46:49):
it's the barest of bare, but this is like Math
ninety nine.
Speaker 6 (46:53):
We're seeing the tip of the iceberg when we physically
see them well, and they're learning everything on the inside.
Speaker 2 (47:00):
Math oon ninety nine. You're not getting credit for this.
There's a non credit class. Okay, like some of us
may have had to take that in college. But it's
math oh ninety nine.
Speaker 4 (47:07):
Not me, not me.
Speaker 2 (47:08):
I go oday high school took care of my math flying,
thank you very much. But uh no, that's kind of
what it is. But I thought I've got some impressions
I jotted down. I'll get to those in a second.
But let's hear from the head coach Mike McDonald after
he got a chance to lay eyes on this rookie
class for the first time.
Speaker 12 (47:23):
Well, one thing that you just you don't have a
feel for jailing what you know watching tape or even
watching him in practice, is just like the spirit he
has from play to play. He's got great energy, great
competitive energy about trying to get it right. Uh, great
command of the huddle, really takes pride in the operation
and then all these all these fundamental things that we're
going to be building on from the ground up. He's
(47:44):
just got a great attitude about it. The coaches are
doing a great job coaching them every play and it
goes for all our guys, but him especially. So you know,
if you have that attitude, especially at the quarterback position,
everybody everybody else tends to fall in line. And uh,
and that in that regard, it was really really fun
to be a round.
Speaker 9 (48:01):
What'd you see a front from both seeing coach back
work with these guys from the first couple of times
and you got three draft picks up there, so seeing
them kind of work.
Speaker 2 (48:08):
Yeah, it's a great, great group overall.
Speaker 12 (48:09):
I'm really excited about our draft picks.
Speaker 10 (48:12):
Hard to tell, like give it a fair evaluation right now.
Speaker 12 (48:15):
But you can see see the skill sets, see the movement,
see the things we've seen on tape. Uh, see the attitude.
You know, we'll work the finish and all the stuff.
One that becomes time. But really good first step with
those guys.
Speaker 10 (48:28):
But it's fun. It's fun to see it come to life.
Speaker 13 (48:31):
What do you like philosophically about having the coach true
fullback and kind of having that part of draft bets.
Speaker 10 (48:37):
It's a great question. It's a good softball.
Speaker 12 (48:41):
I just think, you know, we want to be a
physical unit and there's not a lot of true fullbacks
in the league right now, and hopefully they're making a comeback.
But we've got a couple on our rostery right now
that I'm really excited about. And uh, you know, it
allows you to get into two back sets and you know,
you can break the formation, you can some try to
dictate some terms of you know, to the defense and
(49:01):
regulate them certain ways, and some of the schemes that
you're able to do with you know, two backs are
definitely different than a one back operation. So I think
it diversifies you, diversifies you to a certain extent, and
also also loves lets you play like a level of
physicality that we're that we're hunting up.
Speaker 8 (49:18):
Would you talk to the defense a couple of times?
Speaker 9 (49:21):
Well done?
Speaker 8 (49:22):
What did you see from gab?
Speaker 12 (49:25):
Yeah, I think you know right now we're looking for
like the intent, you know, the communication coming out of
the huddle, putting it all together, all three levels. I mean,
these guys are coming from almost all different areas, different
experienced levels here in a different language, so be able
to put it together here in day two and play
with great technique and great eyes and communication. And we're
(49:45):
not we're not exactly splitting atoms with the schematics that
we're we're asking them to do right now, but but
showed progress and and uh, it was just exciting to
see it come together there towards the end.
Speaker 13 (49:55):
How do you evaluate a position like nose tackle of
two days.
Speaker 12 (49:59):
Of non kind of pract Yeah, there's some in the
eleven on eleven stuff, but it's it's tough for the
tempos that we're asking the guys to operate at. But uh,
a lot of it is gonna come from the individual work,
seeing them move, how they do the drills, taking it
to the field, like how they you know, we're hand
placement and how he getting out of their stance, how
they're playing the blocks, physicality.
Speaker 2 (50:20):
It's a little tough.
Speaker 10 (50:21):
Right now, but you know that's the stuff that we're
looking at.
Speaker 8 (50:24):
Clarify.
Speaker 13 (50:24):
There was a competition after the draft about Jalen and
comparing him to Taysom Hill, and you said, you know,
he's just a quarterback. He's a quarter up in chain
of Does that mean you know you that would preclude
you guys from using him in special packages for specific
scenarios red zone, short yardage.
Speaker 4 (50:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (50:39):
I love to clarify it.
Speaker 12 (50:40):
Look, I think what I was trying to say at
the time was we respect the heck out of Taysom Hill.
We've gone against him several times and he's a gigantic
pain in the butt and a great player in his
own regard.
Speaker 10 (50:52):
But I think you have to go into these things.
Speaker 12 (50:54):
These are these are independent players with their own skill
sets and own abilities, and we drafted Jalen to play
exclusively quarterback. Think what makes Tayso him such a great
weapon is that the guy can you have to account
for him as a tight end and a full back
body when he's not playing quarterback, where we're not going
to be using Jalen in that matter. So when he's
(51:15):
in there, he's gonna be playing quarterback for us. But
I think the way that we want to operate with
Jalen is if and when he earns opportunities to be
on the field, we'll do the things that he does
really well, same as when Sam's taking snaps for us.
We're building around his skill set and the things that
he does. And if you're not doing that as an
(51:36):
organization of a football team, I think you're doing it
the wrong way. So tempting with Drew, but it's gonna
start with the quarterback and then kind of everything falls
in place from there.
Speaker 4 (51:46):
It just seems like a pretty happening to see out
on the field once.
Speaker 9 (51:49):
It kind of like seeing him from the personal plays
in front out and we're kind to see other person.
Speaker 12 (51:54):
Yeah, he did a great jobs. Great to have him
in person. He's got a great attitude, great spirit about him.
Practice is hard. U does a great job of taking
what we're it seems like we're doing. Does a great
job of taking what we're trying to teach him, you know, fundamentally,
and then taking that to his position.
Speaker 10 (52:09):
So also a great start.
Speaker 14 (52:11):
Jalen said, that you mentioned that you had interest in
doing VR virtual reality training to.
Speaker 4 (52:17):
Work up progression and stuff.
Speaker 2 (52:19):
How do you how do you see that helping a
young quarterback, especially when the veterans get here, maybe the
reps are going to be more limited for him on
the practice field.
Speaker 12 (52:27):
Yeah, sure, we we we're kind of in the exploratory
mode right now on on on that and how that's
going to come to life. So we're in the beginning
stages of that, you know project, But that's the intent
right now, is to is to kind of go down
that road and see how it can help all of
our quarterbacks and even other positions too, I mean running
back protections, punt protection maybe kind of kind of the
(52:49):
there is no you know, end in sight with the possibility,
so that's exciting. But for Jalen and other quarterbacks specifically,
you're only you're only going to get so many full speed.
Speaker 10 (52:59):
Reps out there. How do you how do you change tempos?
Speaker 12 (53:02):
How do you do things like that where you can
be creative, where you can get these really great cheap
reps and you can stack those on top of each
other so when he does get his opportunities in practice,
you can make the most of them and.
Speaker 10 (53:14):
Yeah, I mean that's it's it seems like it's all
positive all the way around.
Speaker 5 (53:18):
Yeah, nick Eman worried.
Speaker 2 (53:20):
This is kind of an a short impression to hear me,
that's all of it.
Speaker 10 (53:22):
Yeah, I mean you see the movement skills, you see
all the things you.
Speaker 12 (53:25):
Saw on tape. Different language for him, but he's got
great intent. I think he wants to be great, which
is a fun characteristic to work with.
Speaker 10 (53:32):
And great start, great start. But uh like it'll be
the first to.
Speaker 12 (53:36):
Tell you, like all of our guys have you see
it and you're like, oh, this is awesome. But hey,
now we gotta we gotta go. We gotta detail it up,
we gotta get our angles right eyes. I mean, there's
a lot of there's a lot of fundamentals that will
be working on when he comes back, and it's gonna
be it.
Speaker 10 (53:48):
It's gonna be fun to work with him.
Speaker 2 (53:51):
That's Mike McDonald after the final Rookie mini camp. A
couple of things I want to hit on that he
said there, and the Jalen Milroe thing will get well.
I'm gonna get to the the rest of the offense
in the second Jim Jalen Milroe won. I don't know.
I know what Hawk blogger O Brian was asking there
about the confusion. I thought that confusion was kind of
(54:11):
tied up pretty quick on Day two of the draft.
I mean, they came out and said he's not Taysom Hill.
He's gonna you know, he's a he's a quarterback. Period.
We brought that up on the year initially right away
like that was we brought that up on the air.
We're live or trying to react, like trying to make
sense of Okay, you just signed Drew Lock to a
two year contract. You signed Sam Donald two effectively a
two year deal. Jalen Milroe comes in. Seems like a
(54:33):
high pick to play on a guy that's not going
to play. We started talking about, ok could he be this?
I think right away Hughes said, hey, no, like this
is the guy. There's a running ability, there's different elements there,
and they made mention that they will have a package
for him running the football. I mean he McDonald said
that in not so many words on Friday night, Day
two of the draft. So Sam Donald's a quarterback for
nine percent of snaps, Well, the other ten percent's got
(54:55):
to go somewhere. Ain't going to do lock locks your
insurance policy. He's your he's your quarterback. If something happen
as a darnold.
Speaker 3 (55:00):
It makes me so excited. I can't wait to see
what jal And.
Speaker 2 (55:05):
So that's his But his position is quarterback, and I
think that's the important thing. He's not tast him. He'll
tight end full back. He's a quarterback, but he does
bring a run pass option. He gives you a lot
watching him. I mean, you know, you watch practices out
there like like that this weekend. We've seen so many
of more of the years. There is a fluid nature
(55:26):
of how he runs and throws, and I mean he
just looks he looks the part. But this is like
day one. Can he throw to the right person accurately
on time? Humillan, Yes, that's the question, right, that's the question.
Can he do that? I don't know, but he doesn't
have to do it right away on a full time basis.
But using that athletic ability and the gifts that this
(55:47):
guy has, I mean, I think as a Seahawks fan,
you gotta be excited about it. You got to see
what this guy can do. And you know, I mean,
we'll see how much time he gets in the preseason
three games. Now it's a little different. I think in
the past you would't Gino had like one series last
year in the preseason, but he'd been here that that
was a different deal. Now it's and it was a
(56:07):
new it was a new offensive coordinator. We'll see how
much Sam Donald gets. I'm sure we'll see a bunch
of Miller in the preseason, which will be kind of fun.
But yeah, you can see you see that he will
be on the field. I think in certain situations. I'll
get to that in a second, because they do do
have some places to clean up. The other place offensive
line life wull he saw. But you listen offensive line,
defensive line, there's no contact, Like everyone busts through the middle.
(56:30):
Damian Martinez was joking about that with us on Friday. It's,
you know, like no one's tackling. You just go uh.
But the new offense with two backs, I feel like
I need to schedule at some point a hardcore football
with Hugh and find out what that the new the
two backs old school running the football with a full back.
Why teams and McDonald just said that teams are kind
(56:50):
of starting to go back to that, why is that, Well,
that seems like a hardcore football question for you. But
they do have the guys. They do have two fullbacks
on the roster. Okay, the defense doesn't need a lot.
Like you heard Greg coselle tell us last Wednesday when
he came on and if you miss that, you can
go listen to the podcast at the iHeartRadio app god
the nine three three km dot com. Greg had a
great wrap up of the draft and Greg mentioned this
(57:12):
last week. He says he thinks that Seattle's defense under
Mike McDonald this season will be one of the best
defenses in the NFL. His word's not mine, that's Greg
Cosell and Jess. All he can do is what tell
you what the tape says, And the tape says it's
one of the best. And what's that based on well
second half of last season. Eighteen point four points per
game fifth in the NFL, three hundred and four yards
(57:33):
allowed per game fourth in the NFL, eighteen point one
first downs allowed fifth in the NFL, and pass yards
allowed per game sixth in the NFL. At two oh five,
those were all basically about just past the midway point
of the season week eleven on for the Seahawks last season,
so basically the final seven weeks of the year, they
(57:56):
were a top six, top five, top four times five
defense and a lot of different categories. Defense fine, offense. Well,
that's where you need some help. And last season that
I brought these numbers up a lot last year because
I think we made a lot about Gino Smith throwing
the interceptions in the red zone. The red zone offense
(58:17):
wasn't great, it wasn't awful, It was about average, was
fourteenth in the league, just a little bit above average
at fifty seven percent for the red zone conversion. Where
they struggled was in goal to go first in goal,
their goal to goal percentage last season was twenty eighth
in the National Football League. Like that just has to
get better. Their third down percentage last season for Seattle
(58:40):
was twenty first in the NFL. Their fourth down percentage
twenty second in the NFL, bottom third in some of
those key categories. Can Jalen Milroe help you? Those are
the places he can help you, maybe not every down,
but then the option of him helping you in some
of those situations. Listen, if you see what's just out
(59:01):
of curiosity and maybe this will be a really bad example,
but we'll see. Well, yeah, I mean, fourth down Philadelphia
was fourth in the NFL last season at seventy point
three percent third down conversion. Philadelphia was ninth in the
NFL last season. Goal to Go Philadelphia was eighth in
(59:22):
the NFL. Why were they good in those regards? Great
offensive line, Sure, they had the touch push, they had
a secret weapon, they had something that people were trying
to outlaw. Well, jay Len Miller was on a secret weapon.
But he is a weapon. So he can help you
there along those ways. And I think that's what's kind
of fun when you look and see, Okay, what can
these guys do? You know what can he do? Well,
(59:42):
he can help you in areas that you really need
help the offensive line, going to two full backs or
going to two backs and a full back. Last year,
Seattle's rushing offense was twenty eighth in yards per game
in the National Football League twenty eighth. They were fourteenth
in total yards per game. They're a lot better in
passing yards. They were eighth in the NFL in passing
yards per game. I don't think they want to be
(01:00:04):
that pass happy and a lot of those came from
times when they were trailing in games had to throw
the ball to the field. Think of the Detroit game for example,
and others like that. The defense is in a pretty
good situation, the offense needed help, and that's why they
addressed it in the off season. First step rookie mini camp.
But again it's guys in shorts and hat. Won't get
too excited yet, but I will get excited to watch
a little preseason with Jalen Milroll and see what this
(01:00:25):
guy does. I don't think they'll show his packages necessarily,
like when we watch him in the preseason. I think
you're going to see Jalen Milroll play simply quarterback and
not like what you're going to see in the regular season.
The regular season, those would be things that meant we
might see that we can't talk about exactly.
Speaker 6 (01:00:41):
I was just going to say that that's what I
like about that ten percent is there will be zero
film on this guy. Yes, so whatever package it might be,
it's like, Okay, this isn't some wildcat thing that we've
seen before, because you'll have no idea.
Speaker 2 (01:00:53):
They're going to use it. But they will use him,
and they will not tell you how and I like it.
The only thing that's going to tell you is an
not gonna use them as a tight end. That is
that is they're not.
Speaker 3 (01:01:04):
Using their tight end as one either.
Speaker 2 (01:01:07):
Yeah, well he's one of them man and Brady Russell.
All right, we'll take a break. We'll come back, four nine,
four to five one. We got a lot of text
talking Mariners baseball today. Also, if you want to send
a talk back Jessel, text those or check those as well,
go to the iHeartRadio app Our talkback brought to you
by Frost Brewed, Cores Light, Choose Chill check those out.
Uh many of you not wanting to let yourself believe
and enjoy the Mariners yet, Why We'll get to those
(01:01:28):
coming up next.
Speaker 7 (01:01:31):
Casting live from the R and R Foundation Specialist Broadcast Studio.
Now back to Ian Fornez powered by Seattle's Close the
Sports Book Snow Call me Casino on Sports Radio ninety
three point three kJ r FM.
Speaker 8 (01:01:49):
I think the best way to describe how I'm feeling
about this team is cautiously optimistic.
Speaker 7 (01:01:55):
Uh.
Speaker 8 (01:01:55):
You know, last year I was almost certain we were
going to make the playoffs. We had a ten game
leading them, and then that I think was gone in
about a month, So something like that could always happen,
you know. But I think they're playing a more sustainable
brand of baseball. They're getting on base, they're playing solid defense. Yeah,
they're striking out what they're hitting home runs. It feels
more sustainable to me than it did last year.
Speaker 2 (01:02:19):
But there our talkbacks on the iHeart talkback brought to
my Frostbury Corps light. You're chill. You can go check
that out. Go send us your voice the red microphone,
hit it at the iHeartRadio app and away you go.
All right, we got a ton of text today. You
want to get to the text.
Speaker 3 (01:02:34):
You want to.
Speaker 14 (01:02:37):
This Marriner's team reminds me of being in a relationship
where your spouse does not dress up and you complain
about them more sweats all the time. But the one
time they finally start dressing up and get ready to
go out, you wonder if it was for you or
someone else.
Speaker 11 (01:02:55):
Just enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (01:02:56):
Just take the win when you can have a.
Speaker 14 (01:02:58):
Win, because they'll be wearing sweats tomorrow anyways.
Speaker 2 (01:03:05):
Not a lot of belief there four nine, four or
five the text messages on the unnamed Unrestricted free agent
text line four, nine, four or five one. I was
talking to Mark James midday guy MG in the midday,
I can't believe they're selling jerseys in the team store.
Speaker 3 (01:03:22):
You got his Caden's pretty good there so at.
Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
Chevul the Manners, Yes, a couple of years ago they
did gorgeous. The anger is, the anger is. I don't
understand people's anger. Sometimes I really don't. But that's fine.
You're a sports fan. To get up, you get mad
about thinking. Shouldn't you be mad about the fact they
did nothing in the offseason? Maybe you were too, But
this is like that. Let's guess people all repped up
in twenty twenty three. Yes, they sold some stuff in
(01:03:46):
the team store. Remember Paul cul JP Crawford, a bunch
of other guys. Guys. I think Cal said something the
guys could upset. They don't do it anymore, is what
I'm telling you. They do not do it anymore. The
only thing they have opposing team in the team store.
According to a person who would know what's in the
team store because he's at the top of the heap
of the Mariner's food chain, the only thing they have
(01:04:08):
is a hat. But they also have a hat for
every team. There's thirty hats that they sell in the
team store, the official team store.
Speaker 3 (01:04:15):
A camaraderie around the league.
Speaker 2 (01:04:17):
If you want your you're a you want a Philly's hat,
you go to the Mariner's team store. They have that.
There's a hat rack that has thirty hats. But they
don't sell Blue Jay's gear anymore. All Right, Andrews's a
couple years ago. Don't like it's don't act like it's
crazy talk. I'm not acting like it's crazy talk. I'm
telling you they don't have anymore. That was that was
what Mark was wondering. Mark was wondering if are they
(01:04:38):
still selling that stuff? The answer is the answer is no.
Speaker 6 (01:04:41):
It's a good question if you don't know the answer, though,
because the person's right.
Speaker 4 (01:04:44):
And that's why.
Speaker 2 (01:04:45):
And that's why I told Mark, That's why I told Marcus,
and I'm gonna check on this for you. Yeah, and
you know what they said, They don't sell it anymore.
Tend to one. Okay, here we go, let's get to
the other stuff. Three six. Marriage just blew a ten
game lead late late last year, missed the playoffs, and
blew the chance to make the playoffs. Two of the
last four years, losing games at home in the final weekends.
One good month of baseball deserves praise, but it's one
(01:05:08):
good month, Marcus says. I know it's early, but I
love what I'm seeing and it looks sustainable, which is
the best thing about it. However, I watch every pitch
of probably one hundred and fifty five games a year
and never think we're out of it, even if we
mathematically are. I'm just over the top Ams fan, Marcus.
That's why you won the Mill and mallar Mi mal
or Mill in mock draft, because you're an optimist and
a smart human being. And Hugh liked you that day.
Speaker 4 (01:05:30):
Ian.
Speaker 2 (01:05:31):
We had a ten game lead last year. I know,
do you have the Jason Start? Can you find Jason
Start for me? Oh?
Speaker 3 (01:05:36):
Yeah, I can.
Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
I'll get to that to say, tell me when you
find Jason.
Speaker 3 (01:05:39):
S oh, I don't know if I've burned it.
Speaker 2 (01:05:41):
I hope it's a good two o six After last
year's collapse. In years year's disappointment, it's hard to get
too excited two o six. Give it time. They will flop,
man it is then we get this. Believe this year
is different. I guarantee it that says the two five
to three. Another two to five to three says I'm
(01:06:04):
enjoying the season more than any for many, many years,
even decades. But I remember June twenty first last year.
So while I enjoy it, I'm not a fool. Let's see,
because I'm from Seattle, I'm fifty six years old, I
have eighty percent syndrome for the three major sports. For
most of my life Baseball, football, basketball, We've only won
two championships. The CX won the Super Bowl. It was
(01:06:26):
the first and the only time in my adult life
that I've got to feel that joy. So when the
Marriers are killing it like they are right now, it
just seems too good to be true. We're the only
team to ever be up ten games in a season
and not make the playoffs. There's actually ten games plus
in June. Do you have it?
Speaker 3 (01:06:42):
I don't know yet. Sorry, I think I got deleted
from this driver, but I have excuse me? Where excuse me?
Speaker 2 (01:06:52):
We've got more stuff in this system than we can
shake us.
Speaker 6 (01:06:54):
I know that's why things get deleted, because sometimes sometimes
things get overloaded.
Speaker 3 (01:07:02):
I'm looking.
Speaker 2 (01:07:03):
Don't make me upset on the Monday system. I'm not
saying you, I'm thinking of the iHeart KJR system. Yeah,
both enjoyed the marriage and wait to see. Because the
injuries are mounting up and every team has a dry spell,
I feel like it's right around the corner with the
opposition coming up. Acer is an interesting one, right, like
the Acers injury. They're they're a good team, They're two
games back, they're playing well. I think Dave won is
(01:07:24):
a four or five straight series something like that too,
So I mean that's a potental test. And then the
Blue Jays here in Seattle, and then a little team
called the Yankees next week. Let's see. Really enjoying what
I'm seeing from the Mariners right now since A three
six so fun and exciting to watch every day. However, however,
this is where it is. It's like the butt. However,
what happened last June and July and not doing anything
(01:07:46):
in the trade deadline, I found myself skeptical and constantly
wondering if it's sustainable. God, I hope, so go MS
four five. I'm hesitant to get too excited about the MS,
but I will say it does seem different this year.
There seems to be a better approach in general, Yeah,
it's hard to put your finger on. Like the part
that's different. I heard who was talking to today? It
(01:08:06):
might have been was like col col in a postgame interview,
but talking about just how tight the clubhouse is, how
to get along. And you hear that every spring by
every clubhouse in Arizona and Florida. But you hear that
twenty plus games into a season, thirty games in the season,
or twenty percent into the season as they are right now,
that maybe that means something, means something. Let's see, let's
(01:08:32):
see all right, this is three to six, so Philly
to Seattle transplant. Been going to games for seven years now,
most positive I felt since just before Robbie Ray threw
away the series in Houston. Might just be my personality
and sports obsession, but especially after last season with the
same group of guys, my enjoyment quickly turns into standings
watching once the team starts performing this well. Shout out
(01:08:55):
to Jorge al MVP Aaron Judge who never doubted you. Yeah,
I like the sarcasm there. You never were doubted. What
do you have it?
Speaker 3 (01:09:04):
I had to go through the whole interview, but I found.
Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
It all right. This is this is why some people,
This is why some people are a little skeptical. This
is Jason Stark last June.
Speaker 15 (01:09:15):
You want a tidbit that will really make you feel good? Absolutely, okay,
look at this. In the wild card era, there has
never been a team that mist the postseason after taking
the lead of ten games or more in its division
at any point in June.
Speaker 6 (01:09:33):
Yep, I think Jason still apologizes to me every once
in a while about that one.
Speaker 2 (01:09:38):
We need to get Jason on one of these days.
Speaker 3 (01:09:41):
I'll give.
Speaker 2 (01:09:43):
Wasn't his fault.
Speaker 6 (01:09:44):
It wasn't, but almost superstitious a sport that baseball is.
Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
But Jason Stark never struck out, He never threw a
home run, pitched to the other guys hit out of
the ballpar.
Speaker 3 (01:09:55):
Yeah, some guy who didn't watch his socks that day.
You know it's not his fault either.
Speaker 2 (01:10:02):
Let's see else. Yeah, okay, this is a good one.
You're right, you're right, two five three, and you having
you always said I'm not gonna tell you how to fan,
Yet you're telling us we shouldn't be angry at management
for catering to the phony Blue Jays fans that come
down to spend money at our Ballpark one a week
in a year, and yes I do buy tickets. I'm
not telling you how to be a fan. I don't think.
I'm just saying I don't. I don't know. I guess
maybe I am. Don't be angry at Blue Jays fans
(01:10:25):
or the Mariners if they buy tickets and go to
the game. Like, if that's me telling you how to fan,
then I apologize I'm being a hypocrite, but it is
what it is. I mean, I just I think it's cool. Honestly.
Here's why I like it, regular season games that all
of a sudden feel like a playoff game because the
atmosphere in the building that's kind of fun, has more
(01:10:46):
of a kind of a collegiate atmosphere. I try to
get to at least one Blue Jay game every year.
I don't know if that's going to happen this weekend,
but I think it's I think the atmosphere of their
fans here the best atmosphere for a cracking game this season,
far and away was where there's two of them. Actually,
Edmonton's last visit here and Vancouver's last visit to get
(01:11:09):
those two were phenomenal. They were awesome, They were off
the charts in terms of the atmosphere in the building,
and I think it becomes a little harder. I think
the currency rates hard right now, isn't it coming down
from Canada? But yes, those games will be fun, and
then the Yankees come to town after that. Should have
fun weekend. Hopefully they'll take care of business against the
A's of Sacramento via Oakland and maybe someday Vegas. We're
(01:11:31):
pulling all right, SAFTI join this next already's riding in
on his his stallion. Ladies and gentlemen, the winning jockey
(01:11:52):
in the twenty twenty five hundred and fifty first running
of the Kentucky Dirty Day Slog that was on Saturday.
How much fun of that? Put on your big hat
and your best clothes and go stand in the ring.
Speaker 16 (01:12:05):
I actually had a buddy of mine who was thinking
about going out their first birthday.
Speaker 4 (01:12:08):
I'm glad we didn't go, man, that would have been miserable.
Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
I need to you asked me a question earlier, and
I don't know if there's some sort of thing going
on here, but Ashley Medley Ryan just asked me the
same question as well. The mayor of Maple Valley open.
It's pinned on my huge Twitter account that has one
or two followers. But we mentioned this well though. The
Mayor of Maple Valley open is Friday, July eleventh. No,
(01:12:33):
we have not done sign ups yet. Probably at the
end of this month, early June, we'll have sign ups.
There'll be plenty of notice. We'll let people know what's
going to happen. But Friday, July eleventh, Mayor of Maple
Valley Open at Druids Glenn. So there you go. We're
all asking and wondering. It's we hadn't last year. We
had it earlier than normal in junecause we had a
bunch of stuff family wise and some other things going on.
(01:12:53):
But to July eleventh, So there you go.
Speaker 4 (01:12:56):
Good.
Speaker 16 (01:12:56):
Well, because I'm tired of my buddy's asking me question
I can't answer.
Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
Listen, a couple of those guys me, what don't you
call him?
Speaker 4 (01:13:03):
For good?
Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
I've told those guys. I've told well, I told the
I told the Nicholson boys. I thought I told Casey.
Did I not tell him?
Speaker 4 (01:13:10):
I have no idea, man, I'm sure if Casey knows what.
Speaker 2 (01:13:13):
Day it is, my guess is the answer is that
he does not.
Speaker 4 (01:13:17):
He's a little stressed out right now. He's getting married
in August.
Speaker 3 (01:13:20):
By the way, congratulations, that's actually stunner.
Speaker 2 (01:13:23):
Good for him, good for him?
Speaker 16 (01:13:24):
I don't know, man, He's he's got a great gal,
absolutely great gal, phenomenal woman. He out kicked his coverage tremendously. Well,
let me tell you something right now, tremendously right. Yes,
I think I think when there was even a just
(01:13:44):
a breath of a chance that he would she would say, yes,
he just he ran to Ma Nashi Jeweler and just.
Speaker 2 (01:13:50):
How fast exactly what do.
Speaker 4 (01:13:53):
I gotta do to lock this in right away before
she wises up? So yeah, he's good for him.
Speaker 2 (01:13:58):
Friday, July eleventh, maybe looking forward to sometime probably late
the sign celebrity again obviously.
Speaker 16 (01:14:05):
Okay, well, I'm taking that day off just for you, pal.
I'm gonna be there all right.
Speaker 3 (01:14:10):
I think that we should air the best of show.
Speaker 4 (01:14:15):
About four minutes long.
Speaker 16 (01:14:17):
I think if we did a best of show for
the entire radio station, the entire radio station will be
on the air for like thirty minutes combined.
Speaker 3 (01:14:23):
And by the way, did you need to get you back?
Speaker 16 (01:14:25):
By the way, no, I need to get you back
for for making my mouth bleed last year.
Speaker 2 (01:14:30):
When like suck me in the face or something at
the mayor. Yeah, why would you?
Speaker 3 (01:14:35):
It was an accident.
Speaker 6 (01:14:36):
I've stuck my finger out to say hey you and
he walked right into my finger.
Speaker 3 (01:14:40):
And we all know what you're all beautiful nails.
Speaker 4 (01:14:42):
We all know what.
Speaker 3 (01:14:43):
You're an idiot. Oh how about this one.
Speaker 14 (01:14:46):
Be honest.
Speaker 9 (01:14:47):
I'm only here because.
Speaker 6 (01:14:49):
I think that By the way, who's that a former person?
Speaker 4 (01:14:54):
You would just have a much different take on ex cougars.
It's crazy, like.
Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
She's that's fair, not just make you.
Speaker 16 (01:15:06):
This is also the same woman that said that she
roots for the New York next as a Boston fan.
Speaker 4 (01:15:11):
I mean who you're rooting for tonight?
Speaker 6 (01:15:12):
By the way, Boston, I clarified this whole entire thing.
And by the way, person not from the East Coast,
you don't get to tell me people think that.
Speaker 4 (01:15:21):
They're not from the East Coast with anything.
Speaker 3 (01:15:25):
And the Yankees.
Speaker 6 (01:15:28):
Thing, I'm gonna turn off your wall comes to the
Boston Celtics and.
Speaker 4 (01:15:35):
The New York My father is from Flushing, New York.
Are you a ka Queens? Are you no? But I
was exactly there in the bathroom.
Speaker 3 (01:15:43):
Okay, start to come together.
Speaker 16 (01:15:46):
And if you're and it's even worse if you're actually
from there and you're actually considering rooting for Boston over
New York, unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (01:15:53):
You should you should have your New York.
Speaker 2 (01:15:57):
This is actually got you were can see in a
place called Flushing in a bathroom. I guess that's what
you just said.
Speaker 4 (01:16:04):
I think I was conceived in Europe. To be honest
with you, I have no idea.
Speaker 2 (01:16:10):
I know what you were conceived with Flushing in New York.
I think I would go with that.
Speaker 4 (01:16:14):
But the name of the city is Flushing. That's the
name of the town.
Speaker 2 (01:16:16):
That's really the name of the town.
Speaker 4 (01:16:18):
Flushing, New York.
Speaker 6 (01:16:19):
No, the most serious rivalry between the Celtics has always
been with l A Like that's a huge one. And
you know with the Knicks, it was the Pacers. When
I was growing up, there was no with everybody.
Speaker 16 (01:16:32):
You want to Boston New York being from New York
and say you're root for both, and that's your problem.
Speaker 6 (01:16:36):
I root for both. You know what, your wall, your
wall has been revoked.
Speaker 4 (01:16:45):
All right, pretty much made a crystal clear where you're standing.
Speaker 2 (01:16:48):
You know what, deep down tonight, it's whatever. Deep down
on it, She's like, it's a no lose game if
they win. If Boston wins, her husband's happy and she
can pretend to be happy if the nixt win. Internally
she can be happy.
Speaker 4 (01:16:58):
Look, if you want to root for Boston, to root
for Boston, but you can't root for both.
Speaker 3 (01:17:02):
I can if it's not in the.
Speaker 16 (01:17:04):
Same game they're playing tonight, your pots tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:17:08):
I was ready for New York to make it to
this point.
Speaker 2 (01:17:13):
Is it like dealing Is it like dealing with Faine
and and gonzag and you double over again?
Speaker 4 (01:17:17):
This is way worse?
Speaker 2 (01:17:18):
Whoa what worse?
Speaker 4 (01:17:19):
She makes Fain look like a little small puppy there.
Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
All right, what do we got going on today? What's
on the show? What's on the big radio show?
Speaker 16 (01:17:29):

get their thoughts on the Sacramento.
Speaker 4 (01:18:11):
A's this afternoon. All right, are they still root?
Speaker 16 (01:18:13):
I mean, this would be like if the Mariners were
moving to Vegas and they're playing a couple of years
in Centralia, would we still watch them?
Speaker 1 (01:18:20):
Right?
Speaker 4 (01:18:20):

Talking about Bill Krueger is a major league manager, Oh yeah,
he would. Every pitcher would go into the ninth inning, starting.
Speaker 16 (01:18:40):
Players would drive him freaking by the way, exactly. You
want to do what you wanted, what you want to
leave the.
Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
Game, what you want it. You're coming out right now.
You've only thrown one hundred and fifty five pitches, we'll
