Now from the Starrunnls Sports to usyour ninety three point three KJRFM sports headlines
headlines brought to you by Buddies,Goodies and Glass It's always for twenty at
Buddies. Washington winning their semi finalgame against Testas last night, one of
two thrillers in the College Football Playoff, that final score thirty seven to thirty
one. They will face off againstthe Michigan Wolverines in the National Championship pre

(00:24):
games coverage starting at twelve thirty onMonday right here on your Home for the
Huskies crack and hosting the Golden Knightsyesterday in the twenty twenty four Winter Classic
held at Tea Mobile Parks shut themout three to nothing. The final score
Joey Decord, absolutely fantastic. They'reback at it at Thursday on seven,
hosting the Ottawa Senators six to thirtypre game right here on your Home for

(00:45):
the krack. In ninety three pointthree KJRFM, Washington State quarterback Hamward for
goes to transfer portal and goes directlyinto the NFL Draft, and the Seahawks
fell to the Steelers. Rarely dothey make the bottom of the headlines,
but thirty to twenty three on Sunday. They will need some help getting into
the playoff picture. We'll have allthat coverage for you throughout the week as

(01:07):
we get into the final game ofthe regular season. But right now it's
time to get to more cum Millanand Ean for nows. All right,
we cruised back in two o'clock hour, and my good friend Hugh Millen back
with me and we want I want, I wanted to listen. I needed

(01:29):
to talk some some National Championship Footballcollege football playoffs, and all we're about
forty minutes away, forty five minutesaway from SOFTI coming in here screaming and
yelling and raw rang, and that'sthat's that's Nobody does it better than him.
I'm not even sure if he hasa voice. My guess is you
it's what probably fifty to fifty ifhe's gonna get through his show today,
I'm sure screaming and yellen and hollering, but well deserved as a Huskies knockoff

(01:53):
the Texas long Horns yesterday and theymove on to take on the Michigan Wolverines
in the National Championship a game ofcourse, you could hear, right,
A nice three point three, kid, dr I've ham your home for the
Huskies. I got it. Iwant to go a different route, though,
and I want to go down thisroad with you, because Michael Pennix
Junior goes twenty nine of thirty eightfour hundred and thirty yards two touchdowns just

(02:15):
looked at to me, looked likeMichael Penix has looked since day one of
the twenty twenty two season, byand large, when he needed to make
a throw, he did. Whenhe needed to make a play, he
did, deep balls, short balls, intermediate, doesn't matter. And then
you know, you kind of glanceand you hear around It's like, well,
people were thinking maybe he's the numberfour or five quarterback prospect in the

(02:36):
twenty twenty four draft, the SeniorBowl and what have you. May have
a lot to do with that inthe combine, et cetera. Damn though,
Hugh, I'm looking at a guythat I how can this guy not
be He's to me, he's thebest quarterback in college football. Doesn't mean
the best pro prospect, but he'sthe best quarterback in college football. Makes
every throw. What do your quarterbackeyes tell you about Michael Pennix? What
what separates him from anybody else thatmaybe we have seen this year. Well,

(03:00):
I would just say his grasp ofthe offense, he's usually going to
the right place with the ball. The defense is going to dictate, and
every quarterback from time to time yousay, okay, you missed that one.
Your eyes were maybe he should havebeen in another place. But I
think that's few and far between. So he really understands coverage. He understands

(03:23):
the coverage in relation to the scheme. He's well coached in that regard.
He retains well. But you know, you go back to yesterday. Let's
let's talk about three plays where youjust highlight the supreme accuracy. First of
all, that the seventy seven yardgame early on to Polk, that's called
a shake route, a post corner, and it's pressed man and man cover
one. They rush, they getthey're doing what's called green dog in and

(03:46):
key doggen and so I'm not goingto get details of that, but there's
you know, six slash seven guysrushing, so it's a muddy pocket.
They keep the tight end, therunning backs, there's a lot of bodies
around him. But then he throwsthat ball standing on his twelve to the
opt us at forty four forty fouryards in the air. And and and
that's where your receiver is running fullspeed as fast as he can possibly run,

(04:09):
and the defenders chasing him full speed. And so you got to have
what's dynamic accuracy. Pitchers in baseballhave to have static accuracy. The MIT
just stays in one spot. Hitthe MIT. But these guys, you
know, you're running a guy runninga four four, four, five,
even four to three, and yougot to hit him on the dead run.
And that's so that balls in theair, you may take add the
high pot news that ball's in theair, damn near fifty yards and he's

(04:30):
just dropping it in uh the postroute to a DUNEESA, that should have
been pass interference. Uh in thesecond quarter there that that by the way,
that corner six' three and andtwo hundred and ten pounds draped all
over a duneesay, So credit adoonsay. But they have a nice scheming
with the where they pull the rightguard penis kind of slides over back behind

(04:54):
the left tackle. Uh and andand they get a double team there in
front of him, so they movethe pocket a little bit. But now
now he sets his feet, comesback. He's again not behind the center,
so it's a little bit of unusuallook for him. Uh. And
then he just has to throw aperfect throw to a guy racing at full
speed. He's got to hit thatthat dynamic accuracy, he's got to be

(05:15):
there, and he just drops itright down. He just walks it out
there to a dunez. And thenthe third one end of the game.
Now the Huskies are a fourth quarter, they you know, a drive they
have to have and uh, becausethey're only up a touchdown and they got
to They end up getting a fieldgoal. But Memory throws the fade route
to Dunza up the sideline. Imean there's no space for that, but

(05:39):
he just literally puts it, youknow, in the it's like hitting the
target the size of a coffee mugand on the dead run. So the
accuracy it in terms of hitting aguy at dead's full speed and not much
separation. He showed that. Butthen the two touchdowns in the second third

(06:00):
quarter, the one to Jmack whereJmack knifed in between two safeties. That's
a different level of quarterbacking because yougot to try and knife it in between
the safeties right on a two widestructure. And by the way, just
scheme wise, since we are inhardcore football, credit Debor and and Ryan

(06:21):
Grubb the balls on the left hashthey go what's called FTB formation to boundary
with the running back and three receivers. They get four receivers pushing to the
short side to Penix's left. Whatthat does is the linebacker on Penix's right
he has to flow to the fourreceiver side. And if you look at

(06:43):
the angle, then where Penix throwsthe ball to Jmack that is right where
that hook defender would be if youdidn't do that formation. So what it
does is is in essence you're saying, Grub and Debor are saying, if
we do this with our formation,we can get Pennix to have a clean
look where he only has to beatthe safeties. He doesn't have to worry

(07:05):
about the linebacker in front of it. And by the way, J Mack
credit him the way he comes tothe middle, but the safety because he
was out leveraged. The safety hadinside leverage and you're trying to get inside
of him. So the safety byalignment has an advantage, but you have
j mack. He goes to themiddle. Then he straightens up for two

(07:26):
steps, going straight vertical parallel tothe sideline. And now he presents a
threat that he could have an outbreakingroute the corner route, and so the
safety has to be in a positionto play on the corner route. And
now he crosses his face. Sotheir ability to beat leverage even though they
had given up leverage at the snapof the ball. I don't know if

(07:47):
that makes sense. No, itdoes, No, it does. I
think most people can say. Theyshow that replay a few times too from
from behind Pennis. Yes they did, yes, yeah, no, you're
right, yeah, and the oneright and the one to Polk where he
you know, tipped and then boband uh and caught right there a second
quarter that that was another one wherehe had to beat the safe. That
you know, that's with that's withthe scheme. They they they put McMillan

(08:11):
in front of the safety. Hecomes down and they're able to get uh
from an empty formation. They putPolk in the middle of the three receivers
on the right. They spread itout as much as possible, and now
they get Polk into that area thatcreased into the post between the safety and
the corner. The corner has tocome off of westover, but he's just
a tad late, just not enough. He tipped the ball, but he

(08:35):
didn't tip it enough to prevent thetouchdown. So there's just there's all kinds
of detail and everything they're doing. But getting back to Pennix's role in that
the first three plays I described isjust like you have to be an accurate
dude on dynamic dynamically accurate because yougot to hit a guy who's being chased
in man coverage and you got tohit him on the dead run. If
you if you're out in front,it's going to be incomplete. If you're

(08:58):
you know, a yard, it'sgonna be picked off or or broken up.
You have to hit that guy inthe dead run. The second two
of the five that I described involves, okay, how do we beat you
know, converging to vendors and zoneplayers in in in the back half and
and and knife the ball in intoa mailbox before it closes. And you

(09:20):
have to be anticipatory in that youhave to use your eyes to make sure
that the safeties don't cheat on you. So there's all kinds of skill set
that he's displaying there that the NFLis gonna love well Humil and joining us
hardcore football little Husky talk getting yfor college football Championship. You can hear
it right here on nine three pointthree KJFM. Of course, Home for
the Husky is a soft YU willstart his pregame coverage it four in the

(09:41):
morning next Monday. I kid, well, I'm not who knows, but
the it'll start early here on KJR. You know, he also had six
catch six completions to to your mountside guy, Jack westwover right. I
mean, so it's it's not justthose chunk plays. I was amazed.
I'll just one side note. Iwas watching with my son last night,
and while he's just raving about youknow, Scott Huff and his offensive line,

(10:01):
rightfully so. And I mean Ithink that just can never be overstated
how much how great those guys havebeen up front. But all those plays
you described, except for the onewhere j Max put the safeties and went
down the middle, every the otherone like there's, like you said,
should have been a PI. Guysdraped all over them. Not just are
the receivers making a catch, buthe's throwing it on a dime with coverage.

(10:22):
It's not like Texas was leaving guyswide open running free. There was
dude's covered up. He made thosethrows. So it's remarkable to me watching
him. It's why I think Washington'sgonna win over Michigan. I don't think
that you know that Michigan has seenanything like this guy. I don't think
anybody is like this guy in thiscountry in terms of how how accurate he
is. So if you're an NFLteam or your NFL scout, why is

(10:43):
this guy not being talked about asa top two or three pick? Like,
what's what's the knock on him?Besides oh god, he's been hurt.
He didn't look hurt when he ranthe ball last night. Hugh look
pretty good running the football too.Yeah, they broke that out in the
third quarter, right, Yeah, the red zones and right and and it
was actually wasn't a zone, itwas it was a gap scheme there power,
But that's that's probably not something wewant to delve into. But yeah,

(11:03):
he was making great reads there. You know, I think the two
shoulder injuries in the knees, that'sgot to hurt him. I don't know,
you know, he's six foot three, which is certainly adequate height.
And you know, maybe they thinkis frame small, maybe they think he
doesn't hasn't processed as much over themiddle. He's been more of an outside
the numbers guy. But he's gota beautiful arm. And again that dynamic

(11:24):
accuracy is understanding. But you knowyou mentioned west Over on that that little
stock screen and then release west Over. That's kind of like a wheel route.
Where as a quarterback, you've gotto throw it over the underneath defender.
So you have to have enough touchto throw it over, but you
have to be aware that the cornerand or safety from the top down is

(11:46):
going to react. So you gotto have enough tough a touch, but
not too much. And the guythat Westover was beating, the guy who
was the flat defender that you hadto throw it over. That guy's now
he's five ten, but he's onehundred and ninety two pounds. Uh,
John A. Barn, I meanthat's a that's a quick as hell dB
and and he can cover some groundand he could jump and and so you

(12:11):
gotta you gotta anticipate that hole beforethe d You can't just lob it up
over. You say, well,Westover's got a couple steps on him,
and and try and just you haveto be mindful of of the defense reacting
from again the top down, thecorner and the safety so uh, and
generally the corner on that side ifhe falls off of the post, so
uh. The the trajectory and theanticipation that's required on that play in particularly

(12:37):
that just didn't play that poorly. No, no, but it was just
if I'm if, I'm uh acerqusan, I'm like f me like like
he just he just dropped that thinginto a little spot. Yeah, and
at exactly the right time, atthe exactly the trajectory though. I mean,
those type of traits are all overyour Sunday full I don't get it.

(13:01):
I think they're going to look atthis guy and they say, okay,
let's roll the dice on his health. He stayed healthy for two years.
But but just to get this thislevel of anticipation and how he can
spin this ball, and again hisdynamic accuracy and what I mean by dynamic.
If I didn't make myself clear thedifference between dynamic and static accuracy,
you know, it's been just basicallyare you are you trying to hit a

(13:22):
moving target or a stationary target. If you're a rifle shooter, are you
are you at a stationary target, you know, six hundred feet away?
Or are you a skeet shooter? You know he's hitting clay pigeons. Well,
obviously quarterbacking is almost all hitting claypigeons and not rifle shooting. So
and and that's what he has, that dynamic actressy. I'm gonna wrap it

(13:43):
up with this last time. I'mwant to talk to you. You'll be
on other shows all week getting readyfor things. I just want to just
outside of the hardcore world, bythe way, you know, also saying
f me is Jim Harriwaill looking atthe film today, looking ahead to Monday.
He's also saying that he ain't seena dude like him all those other
those targets running around. There's Humail. We had we had to finish it
off. We taped that earlier. Here's a great thing about what I have

(14:03):
with Humillon, Jess. I'm gonnahave you put all of that up together
on on the podcast page. Buttwo, we saved a good chunk of
it because I kind of he wasgonna be on with Puckett and Jim tomorrow,
probably Softy later today, and thenprobably on Friday with the morning show.
I'm assuming I needed a humill Inbreakdown of Michigan Washington, which we

(14:26):
have on tape, and we willplay that at some point later this week,
probably Thursday or Friday, waiting kindof. In fact, I'm thinking
Thursday. I'm leaning towards Thursday.I think we won't play that because I
listen, it's I understand, Iunderstand where we are, what market we're
I know a lot of you Huskyfans are like, oh for this,
You're never gonna I'm I'm college footballfan. We'll break that game down for
you. We got Stuart Mandell comingon Thursday. I mean, we got

(14:48):
all kinds of stuff. But we'llget to Hugh's thoughts on this show on
Michigan Washington. I kind of talkedabout the coaching matchups, and we'll get
into that probably on Thursday on theshow. We'll play that for you because
I think it's fascinating. I thinkthe coaching matchup is fascinating, and he
has some great thoughts on that. We'll get to that coming up in a
couple of days. Okay, it'sbeen a while. We have. We
have been holidays, we've been off, we've been running around all the stuff

(15:11):
that we've been doing right for thelast little while. So here's what we're
gonna do when we come back.We are going to take some we had
a voice text or two you haveto do if we can still accept them.
Yeah, we can still accept them. Go to night. You go
to the caj Cajar. You goto the iHeartRadio iHeart Radio app. You
can go to the KGr part ofthe app. Very simple, very easy.

(15:33):
You should have it on your phoneright now anyway, nice clean signal.
We love it. And you canclick on the red microphone and send
us a thirty second message on yourthoughts. We've talked a lot of huskies
today. When are classic and muchmore, you can send us out.
We can play some of those. We'll check the text line at four nine
four or five to one. That'sthe Tulemredu text line. When it's game
time. It's tellydime. I haven'tread an email on the air in a

(15:56):
long time, but guess what I'mgonna do today. I'm gonna read an
email on because there's a very angryperson out there with me, very very
angry and angry email coming up aswell. So your feedback, your thoughts.
Here's what I want to hear froma you're a Husky fan. You
can gloat, you can scream, you can holler, you can have some
fun, do all that. Wetake a couple of those. Also love

(16:18):
to hear from folks who went tothe Winter Classic yesterday and what your thoughts
were on that. If you wereat the Winter Class I thought it was
a fabulous event. I thought itwas I thought it exceeded in terms of
the experience, the fun, theentertainment, whether it was Heart or Sir
mix a lot. I thought itwas better than anything All Star Weekend had
and it wasn't even close. ButI want to hear what you guys think

(16:40):
as well as fans. So thefour nine, four or five one or
the talkbacks will do that next night. Three point three KJRFM. Hey,

(17:04):
you know it's crazy. I'm gonnasay it again. I've said it to
you guys. If Wazuo was inthe same position, dude, I'm I'm
all Huskies and I would be rootingfor Wazuo ten four Michigan Dude, Michigan.
Yeah, you heard me. Let'sgo Washington then, yeah, Michigan.

(17:33):
As a Husky fan, I justwant to thank Ian and Jessa for
actually talking about the Huskies and notbeing like Jim and Pup and being clowned
and saying that they're in mourning becausethey're die hard cougar. Just root for
your team, for your state. We don't want Michigan to win, you
know why. They're a bunch ofcheaters, and go Dogs. We're going

(17:56):
to the n baby, We're gonnaplay for national championship. Let's go well.
I tell you, Ian, amI glad that I took today off
of work. I am hungover ashell. Let me tell you though,
I love New Year's Day every yeargot Winter Classic. What a fabulous event

(18:21):
that was yesterday and then the Dogsand then the Dogs. Man, I've
never been a happier and hungover thanthis. That was the cream of the
crop. Thank you for everyone whosent them in. You know, sometimes
people sound hungover and and you're like, are you hungover? No, I

(18:44):
drink, And then sometimes guys soundlike that and you're like, yeah,
man, one hundred percent hungover rightthere. Oh you earned it, fella,
you earned it. Man, ifyou're a Husky fan, you should
be hungover today, Like if you'reif you're a Husky fan, you should
be hating life today. It's sortof loving life, but kind of hating
it. I was gonna say thatreminds me of when game day came for
the Oregon Wazoo game. That night. You know, we're all paint in

(19:08):
the town, Crimson. We're goodand I never woke up. How like
happier to be hungover? Yeah, then that's it. Yeah, this should
be a happy hangover Husky fans thatyou're enjoying today. Hopefully you are.
I gotta I'm gonna read an emailhere and we get to textas well at
four nine, four or five one. I'm assuming this is this guy's real
name, Ed Cribby. Ed.First of all, thanks for listening.

(19:32):
Let me just say that we startwith a thank you to Ed. Ed
Gribby. Ed writes as follows tothe old email. When was the last
time have you have I ever readan email on the ear since you've been
working with me? Oh it's beenactually exactly a year or two. No,
you haven't, Ed says grow back. Ed says, I'm a devout
Husky, having played baseball there forfour years. I still root for the

(19:52):
Cougars when we don't play them. How in God's say, can you root
for Michigan against U doub for anational title? That is so wrong,
selfish and being a Koog homer. You should be proud of your State of
Washington team ridiculous Ian. Now,as I wrote back to Ed Cribby,
I don't tell people how to fan. I don't tell you who to root

(20:15):
for. I don't want you totell me who to root for. First
of all. I mean, I'mnot gonna go too far in this,
but do you understand rivalry all right? Like do you understand rivalry? No,
I'm not root most of the firstof all, Ed Cribby and others,

(20:37):
You guys should be happy because ifyou really care about whether they're fan
bases and other people think, whichI don't care, like I could care
less if people root for my teamsor not. I just don't care.
I root for who I root for, you root for you. But if
you really care about it that much, know this, most of the country
is rooting for you. Most ofthe country not named not named the word
really the only people probably not rootingfor Washington this week would be Cougar fans

(21:03):
who are real Cougar fans. Here'swhere I will tell you who to roof.
If you're really a Cougar fan, you're not rooting for Washington. If
you're an Oregon fan or an OregonState fan, because oreg say now falls
the same category. They don't likeyou either because of the leaving the conference
whatever. Everyone else, every otherfan base of the country is rooting for

(21:25):
you, guys, if that's reallysomething you're worried about, Ed or others,
everyone's rooting for you because the perceptionis Michigan's a bunch of cheaters and
Jim Harbaugh cheated, they stole signs, and they're bad people in Michigan.
Everyone's rooting for you, Ed.You don't need me to root for you.
You just don't need me to rootfor you. And why do you
care. You should be proud ofyour State of Washington team, says Ed.

(21:48):
Really that same team that gave usthe middle finger on the way out
to the Big Ten. You readthe story of the Times, am Marie
Casse. No man, go BlueGo. But that's what makes sports fun.
Why is that hard to understand, all right, let's get to the
tags four, nine, four orfive one. I got a bunch,
You got a bunch probably too.The oh they're one in hot, hot

(22:12):
and fast. I almost said fottenpast. Thanks camaking on Tuesdays, I
feel like a Monday. Yeah,Cam might be hung over today to two
of six, Yesterday was a truetrifectave for me. Cracking winning Husky's,
winning Alabama losing. Doesn't get muchbetter than that, says A two o
six. We asked about the WinterClassic perfect Winter Classics? Is it?
Then? They're two o six perfectWinter Classic? Weather, great light,

(22:33):
and good thing. The managers aresummer sports that would never sit through a
baseball game in forty one degrees. We're walking out yesterday. I was with
Purple Sheet and Shannon, our producerover at Fox. Yeah, And I
said, you know the crazy thingabout that it was forty seven forty eight
degrees at the time, because we'rewalking out, but you know, it
wasn't this roof was open, wasn'training or anything like that. A little
bit of sun breaking through, justa little bit beautiful. And I said,

(22:56):
there will be a lot a lotof games, baseball games played here
in April that have far worse weatherthan this. And I'm not talking about
rain. I'm not even talking aboutthe rain, like, oh yeah,
it was beautiful yesterday. God,they did a great job. All right,
let's see, I have my height. Here we go. That's Remarcus.
I'm a diehard koog and I wouldn'troot for Wazoo just because I live

(23:18):
in Washington. It would depend onwho they're playing, Like I root against
I root for them against the cheatingWolverine. Then, so he would have
rooted for him against Michigan just becausehe feels that they're cheaters. But he
wouldn't root for them just because helives here. Yeah, yep, yep.
To see what was up to Seahawks, the extols who they were in
week one, it was just successof ten years ago. They made us

(23:38):
hope. Otherwise. We talked aboutthat with Humil in the first hour.
The Yeah, I think there's agood that's a great point. Actually,
that is a really good point. That Week one was kind of a sign
of things to come. The inabilityto stop anything by the opposing team's office.
I got a number, I'm gonnaI put it away. I'll bring

(24:00):
it up tomorrow and remember tomorrow.I got a number. It's actually I
know what it is. The lastsix games, the Seahawks are giving up
an average of one hundred and seventyyards a game on the ground in the
last six games. I mean, that's procial. I did see a few
people complain the only thing I'm seeingthat people didn't like yesterday about the Winter

(24:21):
Classic. It sounds like, Idon't won't to take too much of a
shot here, but it does soundlike that the T Mobile Park wasn't ready
for that kind of crowd, eventhough they knew how many people are going
to be there. There's a lotof people standing in line lines, long
lines. I guess a bunch ofconcession stands ran out of food, things
like that, but you know, sometimes that happens. I think in terms
of the presentation by the National HockeyLeague, the vibe, the feel,

(24:45):
the atmosphere, everything else about itI thought was bad. I just think
they didn't three Yeah, and alsothey got to do their you know,
they have that whole pre game productionand everything, and they were able to
adapt it to a certain extent forthe outdoor atmosphere. You know what diferens
like I was talking to Anders aboutthis. I was talking to and about
this. You know, the baseballkind of the market event now with baseball

(25:07):
is also a weekend is at leaston television is the Home Run Derby,
And even I think, if I'mnot mistaken, the Home Run Derby had
more like there was more of apeople wanted to go to that more than
the game. There's more of ademand for tickets, it felt like before
the Home Run Derby then for maybethe actual game. And then you get
there and it was cool. Ihaven't watched it. I mean, there's

(25:29):
fun watch, but it is sucha made for TV event. There's no
audio in the building, like theydon't you don't really keep you don't really
know who's winning. They kind ofhave the weird score that goes up there
because no one narrates it, soyou don't really know like, oh that
ball was worth two whatever it is, all those things. Members we were
all kind of confused watching it.And then there's these long delays while they
go to break and everything like that, so it just kind of sucks the

(25:52):
life out of you a little bit. It's just the way it's set up.
It's made for TV. It's atelevision television, but this was a
game, this game and just everyI go back. I know, listen,
I'm old, and I'm very biasedbecause they're from here, but I
grew up listening to him. Ilove heart. I thought, Anna,
Nancy Wilson, that's how you doa halftime show. I've seen a few
Super Bowl ones and others. Theywere so good. The sound quality was

(26:15):
so good outside of the fact youcould tell Nancy's like, hey man,
that was the one time there wastoo long to break because they went to
the TNT set and she staid ontrying to keep her hands warm, and
she's like one of the best guitarplayers period, and she's like, let's
go. But they were so good. They sounded exactly. The same mix
was great, sooner mix a lotwas great. What a showman too?
Yeah, he was so perfect towelcome everything in. I love the fact
that you used Rick Riz for abunch of stuff. I thought that was

(26:37):
great. I thought it was reallycool that they had a sinking ship that
was fifty four percent sunk in centerfield or halfway sunk, and that was
appropriate. Isaiah Thomas chamaal Cross, the usuer was back they had so many
people who were there. Nobody hasembraced the cracking more than the legend,
than the icon that is Marshawn Lynch. Why should he let them off the

(26:57):
bus? Did you see when Riztried to interview him. Yes, and
Hasselbeck saved him. Thank god MattHasselbeck was there. Oh my goodness.
I mean it was just it wasjust a good day all the way around.
A couple more texts here, fournine, four or five one?
Uh? Go blue? Seriously andat least root for a tie. Can't

(27:18):
have you rooting Wolverines all week seemswrong. I'm not out well, I'm
rooting for them, but I'm notnot like we're not doing the Michigan pregame
show. We've already been told notto do that. At the two five
three right above him, go Blue, Go Blue? There you go three
to six. Oh, idiotic take. I'm a Coogan. I root for
the UW to win. I'm areal Washingtonian. Really. I mean,
that's the thing is that it's okayto have different ways of fanning. That's

(27:40):
what you were just saying. I'mnot going to tell you how to be
a fan. This is how youare a fan. I don't know any
None of my Cougar friends are rootingfor them. That's what I'm fifty six
as a lifelong Husky fan. Ihave no problem for you rooting against the
Huskies. After being online and listeningto people like Pucket more, I cannot

(28:00):
root for the Cougs. I'm happywhen they lose, especially Couge. Yeah.
Hell yeah, man, you shouldbe there, you go, you
should be It's gonna make it.It's a great week coming up. I'll
wrap up with this just a quickthought before we get soft in a few
minutes. There is a big partof me that just the college football fan
in me thinks it's pretty damn coolif it is if it had to be

(28:23):
Washington, and man could when yoursnot have made one more play anyway,
If it had to be Washington, for them to play Michigan in the final
game for the Pac twelve is perfect. Wolverines Heisman, Poe's Mario Bailey ninety
one, Bo sham Beck or DonJames, et cetera. It should be

(28:47):
in the damn Rose Bowl. Stupidthat it's Houston might be the dumbest venue
to have the college football playoff. That I can think it's hard to get
to unless you know what, unlessyou're just saying, let's make sure it's
down there where sec people can gettheir evening. That it was probably the
foresight. Well the sea hum itself. It's in the middle of kind of
nowhere, next to the old Astrodome. It's not in downtown Houston. It's

(29:07):
way out off the beaten path. It's just dumb. Should be in the
road. Switch the venue right nowtoday, now switch it moving to the
Rose Bowl. Sound like Softy? All right, you had a little Softy
in you there? No, Ididn't. No, I don't know.
I didn't. Uh. We'll checkin with Softy. I wonder if he's
got a voice. We'll find out. We'll find out next Well, then,

(29:30):
who got that one? It feelslike it's been forever since I talked

(29:52):
to my friend. I don't know, like certainly it's been at least since
twenty twenty three last year. Ohyeah, I look at you with the
jokes, the jokes. Wait asecond, your voice, it's okay,
it's not terrible. I gotta behonest with you. I was a very
professional broadcaster this weekend. You knowwhat, the best part about this trip.
Besides the obvious, which is whathappened last night at the Superdome.

(30:12):
I gained two pounds the whole weekendin New Orleans. That is a record
for me. Well you're that's that'sreally good? Did you? It's insane?
I mean, dude, Yeah,we walked a ton We walked all
over Canal This is Tony Castric. We walked all over Canal Street, the
French Corner, Bourbon Street. Youknow, the wife Gina got her first

(30:33):
taste of Bourbon Street on New Year'sEve. Man, I was interesting.
Yeah, when you could expose somebodyto that place for the first time,
seeing their reactions always fun. Butyeah, you know what, we walked
around a lot. And how aboutthis for an idea? Got off my
fat ass and I worked out inthe morning a couple of times. How's
that sound good for you? Howabout that turning over a new leaf?

(30:53):
So yeah, I was pretty proudof my We had a couple of great
voice texts that called in guys justhung over to the nines, like a
over today, which you know what, if I'm a Husky fan, you
should be hungover today, you shouldbe like this should be this should be
the happiest hangover you have until maybenext Tuesday. The best postgame show called
Robin's Shoreline first got introduced to himin twenty sixteen after the Huskies beat Colorado

(31:15):
and he called up on the air. Remember that show we did. You
may not remember it, but I'lljust remind you. We had to wait
about an hour and a half, almost two hours to get on the air
after the game because Puckett was callinga high school game that went to like
eight overtimes, and so instead ofjust bumping Pucket off the air, which
let's be honest, this is noslam on Pucket, we probably should have

(31:37):
done that. The only people listeningwere the moms and dads of the players
that were in the game. Andwe're sitting here waiting to go on the
air after the biggest Husky winning godknows how many years, beating Colorado,
winning the Pac twelve championship, andRobin Shoreline calls up. And you remember
the guy, the authentic frontier, gibberish guy in blazing saddles. Yes,
that's what this guy sounds like.Oh my god, and he called the

(32:00):
radio show again last night. Ohhe did, oh perfect, Yeah,
he was the we want Bama guylast night. So getting that call and
hearing him say fourteen and oh,I mean, dude, I was actually
sitting on the plane coming home.I took off this morning, had to
go through Atlanta and then back hometo Seattle. Landed literally about ninety minutes
ago. Got home, had timeto take a shower, all right,

(32:21):
because I was kind of right,I got a Yeah, I had slept
since eight o'clock yesterday morning. I'mgoing about thirty hours in a row here,
pell I'm loopy. This is gonnabe a great show because I have
no idea what's gonna fly out.Yeah, yeah, So I just kept
doodling like that. That that storythat Holmgren tells of Jerry Jones at the
owner's meetings and he looks over andhe's he's doodling dollar signs on a cocktail

(32:44):
napkin. I'm just doodling fourteen andoh, fourteen and oh. I mean,
just dude, if you're a Huskyfan and you're listening to us right
now, if you're driving, pullover, take a pen and paper and
just write down fourteen and oh andstare at that and see what that looks
like. It's unbelievable. It's amazing. Listen. I don't know why you
waste your time with fourteen to know. And you're gonna think I'm doing this
to be this guy, but I'mnot. You're gonna doodle fifteen and know

(33:06):
next week. I don't think it'sI don't we saved some stuff from Hugh
I tapp earlier. We're gonna playit later this week, but I he
kind of I know you got probablyhim coming on later. He's coming on
at three o'clock that he's gonna spendthe first couple of hours with I was
with me and Dick and Ryan Grubb'sgonna join us at four. I don't
even know how. I don't knowhow Michigan can keep up with what Washington's
gonna do. I just don't Ihonestly, goodness, I don't know that

(33:27):
they can keep up with with withif that quarterback ows the ball like he
did yesterday. Again, this footballis a weird sport, though, How
in the hell was it even close? Like well, because they made it
close because Jeremy Bernard fumbled a puttreturn and God bless him me, he
stood up to the media. Italked to him after the game about that.
He was a man about it,went back out there and made some
big plays. Their touchdown percentage inthe red zone this year was at seventy

(33:52):
percent for Washington this season. Andthey got held to a lot of field
goals in that game yesterday. Youknow, they got down to the eight
yard line, ten yard line, came in with three points, had the
third and one, the fourth andone where they couldn't pick up a yard
and running right towards the heart ofthe Texas defense. So I'm with you,
man, I'm sitting there at halftime, and I gotta be honest with
you. I texted Cam on theway home today. I don't even know

(34:14):
what the hell I was talking aboutat halftime yesterday. I just opened my
mouth and just starts flying out ofit because I was so pissed off at
twenty one all that this should havebeen an absolute blowout. I mean,
you saw the game, you sawwhat I saw. They're a much better
team than Texas, is much better. And you know Michael Pennix, man,
he was just special. He wassome kind of sensational. I think

(34:37):
he's catapulted himself to the number onespot in the history of Husky football.
If he wins it on Monday, there is no debate. But the Pennix
is the greatest quarterback in the historyof Husky football. Island is getting more
full and full and full as thedays go by, and he's got a
chance to solidify that for certain onMonday against Michigan. But we're gonna talk

(34:58):
to you about that because the Michigangame kind of reminds me of the twenty
thirteen NFC Championship, where Michigan isthe lob and the Seahawks are are the
Huskies are the forty nine ers withthat phenomenal offense, right yeah, And
normally in a match up like that, I'll take the defense, but I
can't do that, so I'll takethe offense. And I'm with you.
I think we're gonna win. We'regonna win this sucker on Monday and bring

(35:20):
home the freaking Natty Baby for thefirst time in thirty three years. I'm
gonna walk around all week long thinkingthat you Dub is getting closer and closer
and closer to winning a national championship. I cannot wait for Monday at four
forty five Local times six forty fiveCentral time, we're going on the year
at twelve thirty our time. Yougo ahead and take the day off.
By the way, pal, Igot you covered. I'm taking Monday into

(35:42):
and you know what I do.I do think the Huskies because I had
a six am flight back from Arizonain the last game. I don't just
take a six am flight in moreappreciate. I'm if you get a ring
when they win or not. No, no, that was a question was
asked to me yesterday. I thinkTony does Tony does well, he should
get a ring. Well, youare on the broadcast, Yeah, I
guess I listen. I'm not talkingabout that stuff. Why do you gotta

(36:02):
make me feel stupid. I'm notdoing that. I don't want a stupid
ring. Players and coaches, allright, that's it, players and coaches,
and you shut up. You knowwhat. Your voice is not going
to last for another fifteen minutes.A chance, not a chance, man,
I'll tell you. I'll tell youthis. Congrats, buddy, thank
you, thank you for the mildmannered and marginally objectionable in forness this paddled

(36:28):
day saying so long everyone
