Best friends Josh Durham and Ashley Pace worked for a rookie league baseball team in Burlington, North Carolina in the summer of 1990. Josh had just graduated high school, and Ashley was a rising senior. They were some of the greatest jobs the two have ever had, but for the last thirty years they've been haunted by this question: Did Ashley, the team's batboy, cost one player his professional baseball career by getting food for him before a game? Estimates show that only one minor-leaguer out of ten will make it to the majors. For the ballplayers arriving in Burlington that summer, that means three of them might make it.
