on Fox. We got Joel here, you got Kevin Wyrett.
Thank you guys for hanging out with us. Wherever you are,
(00:46):
whoever you are. Hopefully you're pumped about the big eclipse
in two.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Hours away, right?
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Are you more excited about the eclipse or National Championship tonight?
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Some people with you on some people are sewing to
the eclipse.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
I'm fascinating if you're driving, if you're driving right now
to get to your point of totality, the path of totality.
I don't know what to tell you. We're cut from
a different cloth. But have fun, I mean joy, people
have their thing. You were here raving about WrestleMania and
feedback by the way, I split on that. Some people
(01:18):
are like, yeah, it's entertainment, it's fun, it's bigger than ever,
and some people are taking the Cavino stance of it's wrestling.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Grow up.
Speaker 2 (01:25):
I'm just saying I can't. I'm not mad at you
for liking it. I'm just saying I can. I also
found interesting Someone's like, are you guys paid to talk
about this? I was finding funny when people think we're
told what to talk about.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
I wish we were paid to talk about something. Yeah
that I'll talk about. You like, what though, you to
talk about?
Speaker 1 (01:43):
What?
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Some great feedback on players you like that are on
teams you're supposed to hate. Tim hit Us up in Arizona,
huge Diamondbacks fan, but he said so hard to hate
Justin Turner when he was playing big for the Dodgers. Yeah,
Justin Turner, michaelbl guy, hard to hate them. Some people
are so likable and they step up in big moments
and it's okay to root for those people. But again,
(02:06):
this is based on a popular viral meme over the
weekend of players that you secretly f with. They're on
your rival team, but you secretly f with them. We
gave our examples wrapping it up with your phone calls
now at eight seven seven ninety nine, ol Fox, because
we do have riches hockey experience to talk about. You
went to a hockey game over the weekend. Montage's one
shining moment and if you're excited about the eclipse later,
(02:30):
you gotta be excited about our giveaways. We're gonna play
some MLB trivia this hour perfect for a CNR Cavino
and rich On FSR stainless steel Swiggy.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Priceless Gemmi.
Speaker 2 (02:45):
Wonderful, beautiful stainless steel water bottle. Zach hit us up
and he goes huge Lions fan here, much like Joel,
big Lions fan said, but also a Utah State football fan.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
So damn I hate that.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
I love Jordan Love and he is now now my
biggest competition as a as a Lions fan.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
So Zach, thank you for checking us out.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Mark says, as a Raiders fan in high school, it
was Jerry Rice and then he became a Raider, which
was awesome.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
That's always a great feeling.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Now guy on another team, you like, we got him,
that's a cool feeling.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
That is.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
That for me was Johnny Damon as a Dodgers fan.
Mike kid us up and said he's a Dodgers fan,
loves Buster Posey back in the day, and it was
hard hard to accept loving a San Francisco giant. Also,
let's see Lakers fan love Karl Malone, Karl Alone, get
weird guy. And all the rest of your feedback will
(03:40):
go to Tierso in Iowa. What's up Tiersoh, Hey, what's up?
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Guys?
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Hey rich I'm also a big Niners fan, and you'll
probably follow me on this one.
Speaker 5 (03:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (03:51):
I hated Richard Sherman.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
Yes, damn, I loved it whenever he came to our team.
Speaker 5 (03:57):
Man like he got under my skin. But I loved him.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
That's a great And now you know he does the
podcast with Colin on his network and stuff. Now I'm like,
you know, Richard Truman's all forty nine ers all day.
But when he was calling Crabtree, sorry I asked this
and everything. I hated Richard Truman and I love him
that's a little opposite, kind of a different conversation. But
there's that thin line between love and hate. If you
(04:20):
really despise somebody that much, that's because you're like a
banana peel and a footstep way of.
Speaker 3 (04:25):
Really loving them if they didn't drive that fired up.
I think about it.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
So if a woman hates you but like like very much,
is like I don't like him, I hate him, she
might sort of be, you know, one move away from
really liking you. Love and hate thin line. Let's go
to Mo in Arizona, Mo. Thanks for hanging man, come
you on Richend for Dan Patrick?
Speaker 6 (04:46):
Thank you guys?
Speaker 3 (04:47):
What's up?
Speaker 6 (04:48):
A lifelong likeers? Fran Uh? It was for me.
Speaker 5 (04:51):
It was Kim Duncan.
Speaker 6 (04:52):
When the guy was so nice you couldn't even hate him.
When he beats you, that's.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
A that's another one. You're right. If the guy is
such a nice dude.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
How could you not respect his fundamentals, the way he
played the game, everything.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
But ye're absolutely right. It's a good one. He's a good,
good one to root for it for sure. Who else
you got? How about Bert in Miami? What up Burt Hey?
Speaker 5 (05:11):
Bert?
Speaker 4 (05:12):
Yeah, it was some guys that's it going.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
We're good man.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
You can't complain for a Monday.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
What's your what's your example of a player you like that?
Speaker 4 (05:20):
Okay, listen to this. I want to die hard Yankee fan.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
I mean no, I'm sixty.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
One, so I've liket the Yankees down was like nine
years old.
Speaker 6 (05:28):
So listen to this.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
I mean, how could you hate David? I mean David Ortiz.
He's a nice guy and he killed us in that
playoff We're Down, when we were up three zero and
they came back and swept us four three.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
I can't I couldn't stand him. He was the biggest
part of that series.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
But then again, he's such a nice dude that.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
I've n him before.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
I mean, I've seen him before. How could you hate
the guy? I don't know if you guys agree on
that one.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Never you know, when you watch baseball coverage now and
Big Poppies on like the panel or something that what ever,
never hated when he's sitting there with Kevin burkhard and
g you got.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Man, how do you like? How do you dislike? Big Poppy?
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Likable wasn't one of my favorites, but man very hard
to not respect as clutch as he was, and it
with a smile to respect the poppy yep, one legged
Bama Man. What's up, dude, Covino and Rich?
Speaker 6 (06:17):
What up?
Speaker 5 (06:17):
Young fellows? Yo?
Speaker 7 (06:19):
What up?
Speaker 6 (06:20):
I'm going old school because I'm old.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
You're an old fool. What's up?
Speaker 4 (06:25):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (06:26):
But I loved Otis Tyler and Willie was there for
the Chiefs and they're the biggest rivals.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
There's always going to be a guy on a team
that you hate, but deep down inside you're like, man,
I admire his game.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Well.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
As Jim Lampley said on our show, and he cried
in the Fight Game too, you're watching rivals fall in love.
At the end of the day, they're there to destroy
one another, but they're falling in love as each round
goes by. And when you're watching these dudes bring out
the great in your team, maybe it's that same effect,
like you're really just falling in love with them because
(07:05):
you're seeing how great they are and how much greatness
they bring out.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
Like you could have hated.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Caitlyn Clark yesterday, but when you see how how much
greatness she brought out of her rivals just trying to
beat her, and how good South Carolina looked. You know,
maybe you learn to respect them. Yeah, that's how you
fall in love with these players. Yeah, I didn't like them,
but man, they just brought out the best in us.
Let's say what's up to Jerry. We'll wrap it up
(07:36):
with Jerry. Jerry, what's up on Florida?
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Hey?
Speaker 5 (07:42):
Jerry?
Speaker 6 (07:43):
Hey, am I on the air?
Speaker 3 (07:45):
You are on the air. What's up? Hell?
Speaker 6 (07:47):
I just want to say something about Caitlyn Clark. Yeah,
and what I think something that's being not talked about is, Yeah,
she's a phenomenal basketball player. She transformed the sport. But
out of respect back to all the other women that
came before her that did the same things that were
not white. She is a classic example of white privilege. That.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Yeah, but what if people just don't forget race out
of this for one second? But if people just don't,
they don't resonate.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
There's a lot of great people and they just don't
resonate for whatever reason. Right, people just couldn't get behind
that player. She's the one that people get behind. There's
other dominant white basketball players, and hey, women didn't make progress.
Jill On Stanley when she was cutting down the net
last night, when she got on the podium when she
was talking about her team.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
What'd she say, Thanks you Kaitlyn Clark.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Thank you to Caitlyn Clark because she raised and elevated
the sport where it's never been elevated before. You know,
you can't put your finger on why there was, as
Rich keeps saying, lightning in the bottle, but there was. Yeah,
go back to Jerry. I want to know how, Jerry.
I mean, some people just connect with the fan base
(08:58):
that you can't. You can't argue race in that sense.
Speaker 6 (09:03):
Well, I'm saying that again. She's a great player, She's
got a lot for a sport. But out of respect
for all the other women that did ultimately the same.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
Thing, but they didn't they didn't have the ratings Jerry like.
Speaker 6 (09:17):
People watched, Yeah, because she was built up. She's coming
from a state, for example, that's eighty percent white anyway,
but she.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
Was built us whatever. She still I mean, you know,
white or not. She broke a ton of records.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
I mean, w NBA, NCAA women's basketball.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
It's it's not new.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
This is the first time ever or maybe in a
long time there were where people watch records were broken,
Ratings shattered old ratings. I mean, you can talk about
these players and have respect, but the truth is no
one cared about them to this level. Seems like pulling
Race into it is is irrelevant if she just connected
with an audience, right, I mean, seems like a lot
of the African American players and coaches respected her. Seemed
(10:01):
that way to me me too. Uh, let's go to
Colin and Tampa. Colin, what's up?
Speaker 4 (10:05):
But I just want to go back to your last
segment about Kalen Clark. Yeah, how she changed the game.
And so an example would be in the UFC, how
you know, they had star power and they had you know,
greatness before that and crazy knockouts and stuff. But a
single guy and I changed it forever will always be
(10:26):
Connor McGregor. His style is swaged his craft talk in
the press conferences. You got guys watching, you know, the
press conferences now with nobody's in it just because of
what Connor did.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
So that's true. That's a that's a good one. And
you know what, if you want to bring it back
to women, that elevated it. But yeah, yeah, but but
he but he made press conferences and stuff like that.
Next level exciting, like, oh, what's he gonna do? Hey,
I'm sure he brought in millions of new fans. But
you know, to quote Ronda Rousey, you know, if you
want to take women's sports into this, she's like she said,
(11:00):
ain't a white didn't pay me and make me the
headliner because he felt bad for me.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
It was like, oh, the right thing to do for women.
She's like, I was who people want to watch. She
sold pay per views.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
It was like, uh for me as a kid, that
was Nitro from American Gladiator. Oh you love Melamu. Oh
your favorite Gladiator. Weren't cutting it? When I saw Nitro
do what he did?
Speaker 7 (11:24):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (11:24):
Yeah on the Gauntlet man you were. That's when I
was like, you know what put it on the map. Well,
you know what, we can move on from that.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
The end stamp at your thoughts you at coven on Rich,
bring the love, bring the hate, bring the comments. Yeah yeah,
you could chime in with your answers again, your secret
lovers seople you secretly.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
With even though they were on arrival.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Everything at Covino Enrich, I know you want to talk
about montages and everything. Big game tonight. Obviously the ball
is dipped there you are. I know you want to
talk once shining moment, but I also want to hear
about your hockey experience.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
And we got to play our game. We got some
mm on trivia.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
I'll tell I'll tell you right now, Danny g let
me ask you when was the last time you went
to a hockey game.
Speaker 7 (12:13):
It was to see the La Kings. I want to
say five seasons ago.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
It's it's interesting because hockey fans have such a passion.
But I'll tell you their their blind spot. Their blind
spot is just not believing sometimes that people just aren't
interested as much as they.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
Want you to be.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
You talk to a diehard hockey fan, they'll argue to
the death hockey is the best hockey had us at
Blades of Steel. They should have marketed hard when we
were kids.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
The Nintendo Hockey two medium guys want skinny guy? What
fat guy? You could have pulled me in back then,
and you blew it. Listen. I think regionally.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
Hockey has always been popular. It just hockey never resonates
as far as talk radio sports. TV ratings just aren't there. Yeah,
it's just it. It it doesn't deliver. So hockey fans
are so adamant about it. Yeah, you gotta talk more hockey,
A you gotta dat, you'd be watching it on prime time.
The proof is in where and when it airs. Again,
(13:24):
this some of ties back to everything we've talked about today.
Where where's the interest level?
Speaker 5 (13:29):
What you know?
Speaker 2 (13:32):
I mean, there's a fan base, and there's a strong there's.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
A strong fan base. I just think that.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
It it, it is, it's where it is, it's it
is where it is, and it's been there forever.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
Like hockey will be a huge sport. But I don't think.
I don't think hockey is.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
Ever gonna be the NFL or even the NBA or
Major League Baseball. But I went to a game this weekend.
Hadn't been to a hockey game like forever. Let me
tell you, the experience was fantastic. Hockey fans are right
when they say, hey, you want to get more into hockey,
start going to games because the game is a really
(14:11):
legit experience.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
However, I'll make one observation.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
Any hot women at the game, some cuties, some cuties.
I will say the one thing that you have to
be really honest with yourself as to why did I
like this experience? And I think a lot of it
has to do with who are you with, and of
the seats.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
Good, because.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
If you're rolling with good seats and people that you're
having a fun time talking to, And were you on edibles?
Because I feel like your judgment is always kewed based
on that. I was not coming in and tell me
about this trash movie he watched and I'm like, wait
a second, were you under the influence?
Speaker 3 (14:51):
Because that was terrible?
Speaker 2 (14:53):
No, I was not, But let me tell you it's
a great time. Hockey fun live. Can't deny that. But
I think so many times if you gave someone almost
like a VIP experience at any sporting events or concert,
you're gonna come away liking it more.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
No matter what.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
There's no question those are two huge fans. Like I mean,
I know a company in the seats. It might it
might sound obvious, but if I said, hey, you're not
a basketball fan, come to a Lakers game with me. Now,
if I said come to a Lakers game with me
and we're sitting in the top corner of the arena
looking down with uh.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
You know, wait is that Lebron down there?
Speaker 2 (15:36):
And you know you're sitting next to a couple drunk
idiots and you're like, ah, here we are versus yo,
we were courtside, We're like third row. I kild you know,
I was ten feet from my Anthony Davis. Different experience,
different experience. Always keep that in mind, no matter. I
(15:56):
hate to sound like a caveman, but you go to
a hockey game, I want to see a little maidlay
I do? Yeah, I do. I mean that's just part
of it for me. If I'm going to be there
and you're selling it that hard. I've been to a
few hockey games. Never saw a fight.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
If I'm telling you right now, if you're trying to
sell someone.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
I'm like, where's the fight, where's the action? I've seen
blades of steels. My lesson here is this. If you're saying,
where's Rich going with this? Where's Rich going with this?
It's a lesson everybody, and I'll make it quick and
we'll move on. The lesson is, if you're trying to
sell someone on something you love and you want to
introduce it to them, you must go all out. If
(16:37):
you're trying to introduce your wifey to country music, she's
not a country girl. Come me know, you're your girlfriend
likes country, but you do not. You gotta now sit
them down to watch CMT Hardy with Nickelback Live No
aired last night. You gotta If you're going to a concert,
you need great seats. If you're trying to introduce someone
(17:00):
and share your love of the NBA with them or
college hoops, you gotta have great seats and a great experience.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
You gotta really step it up. Because I thought about this.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Did I enjoy the LA Kings Canucks game on Saturday
because I love hockey? Or did I like it because
I went with a couple guys that were funny, guys,
fun to hang with, and we were sitting like second
row from the glass, and every you know, every five
minutes there's hockey players smashing against the glass five feet
from me. Of course I'm gonna think, wow, this is awesome.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
You know your experience. I should go more hockey games.
Trying to sell your kid. You gotta give them that experience.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
If you're taking your kid to their first ever Yankees game,
Cubs game, Red Sox game, Dodgers game, if you're like, son,
we're going on our first ball game, you might say no,
keep your kid humble upper deck Alfield, No, you want
to keep your kid interested, save your mind a little bit,
Get field level seats, get him that can be like look,
(18:04):
there he is, there's Freddy Freeman, get him, get him
that helmet with the ice cream minute. It's just a
reminder that your experience is solely based on your your
your takeaways are solely based on the fact how much
they how much you were hooked up. Let's a concert
game event, Danny g. You go to a club, you
(18:26):
wait in line for an hour, and it's you're smushed
with everyone. Compare that experience to someone walking you in
VIP and they're like, here's bottle service.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Is your impression of this club gonna be different?
Speaker 7 (18:37):
Of course, way different night. Nobody's stepping on your pumas.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
If you take a date to If you take a
date to a Dodgers game and you're sitting eight rows
behind the Dodgers dugout and you're like, there he is,
Look Mookie Bets fifty feet from us, versus yeah, we're
in like we're in the Alfield second tier.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
It just reminder. So just if you're.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Trying to sell a new woman in your life, your kids,
or someone on something, I suggest going a little above
and beyond, because if you cheap out, they're not going
to have the.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
Passion you have. All right, So you had a good time.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
I had a great time, But I wonder how much
of that good time was the fact that great seats
and stuff like that play a role.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
A huge role, and I think it's a huge role.
All right, so your feedback.
Speaker 2 (19:22):
We went to go see Lionel Messi when they when
he played against LAFC. We spent the first little bit
sitting in the press area with like an obstructed view,
and then we wandered around the stadium and ended up
in this area we shouldn't have been in, but we
got in.
Speaker 3 (19:38):
Yeah, we're like in a VIP area and like, I
don't think we're supposed to be here, and no one
checked our bracelets. We felt cool and that was all
we did.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
We ate and drank for free and had a vantage point.
For you, drinks always make you. And then all of
a sudden, what was Kevino saying?
Speaker 3 (19:50):
This is great? Best night I ever man?
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Because she got hooked up den in mind all the time?
All right, Covino and rich In for the great Dan Patrick.
Now tonight we got a national championship we have a
montage in the form of what shining mohoments? So I
have a thought about montages. We'll get to. Plus, we're

few minutes.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
All right, so your chance to win.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
The coveted prize of the stainless steel Swiggy longer. Yeah,
be a champion. It's not about the Stanley Cup. I'm
not talking hockey anymore. Rich, I'm talking about you know,
the Stanley Cup thatyone was freaking out about. Yeah, it's
not about Stanley's. It's not about Yetti's. The new one
is the Swiggy, and we got one. It's a beautiful blue.
(22:33):
It's got some shine to it, and it says Cavino
and Rich on Fox Sports Radio. So your chance to
win one some multiple choice MLB trivia And remember tonight
we still got to talk about your montage, is Rich,
because you're gonna see one tonight.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
You're gonna see one.
Speaker 2 (22:48):

Speaker 3 (23:13):
Of do you like my new baseball hat I'm rocking today.
I was gonna say, you're rocking a corduroy Quoteroy's back, dude,
who says me? You know what? I took a chance.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
But then I saw that the Yankees were doing a
coodor right hat giveaway because they are kind of coming back,
and I'm like.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
Oh, ahead of the trend or nah, you're not feeling it.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
Are the Yankees ever gonna do a city connector as
you or they only pinstripes? Ah? You know, It's so
funny how people are so quick to hate everything. It's
like our default setting is to hate. Because the Phillies
displayed their new city connects and I thought they were
really cool. And you see all the feedback and everyone's
like they suck.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
They're the worst. No, suck sucks, suck suck.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
That's a question to ask yourself. Has there ever been
a team that debuted a new uniform, a new hat,
a new stadium, a new anything where the fan base
was from the jump, Yo.
Speaker 3 (24:10):
That's great. I thought it was cool.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
Man.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
I liked it.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
And it was all this meaning and symbolism and thought
put into this city connecting uniform and man, all the feedback,
I was like, these are terrible. Well, every time a
logo or a uniform or anything is designed, we act
as though the team didn't outsource a bunch of research
and people that know what they're doing. I mean, based
(24:33):
on the new Nike Fanatics MLB jerseys and maybe maybe
did that much research. Maybe maybe they don't do that. Yeah,
maybe they didn't do any at all. But I do
like them, and I'm rocking again. Speaking of, like I said,
new trends, I'm rocking the corduroy baseball cap.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
Now.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
If I would have said at the beginning of the
baseball season, what team would be the first to ten wins?
I wonder what that prop bet would have been. If
you would have taking the Pittsburgh Pirates, who are up
there with eight wins, alongside Danny your Dodgers and Cavino
your Yankees.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
But the Pirates, I feel like every some of them.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
The Pirates start hot and then five you know, they
come back to reality. But it's nice when some of
the smaller market teams, oh, hell, you have a fresh start,
but yeah, Pirates are looking good. And uh, it's funny
how Mookie Bets is just playing out of his mind
five home runs, just a beast putting on like an
(25:30):
MVP sort of season.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
So far, seventeen hits already, Yeah, so who's hatting it? All? Right? Well, hey,
it's time to do a little MLB trivia. Let's go.
Speaker 7 (25:41):
All right, Welcome into CNR in for the Great Dan
Patrick on this Monday morning and our show when you
listen in the afternoon five to seven pm Eastern time,
Monday through Friday, we talk baseball on a national level.
You guys both big baseball fans and so let's let's
do this and try to give away a CNR swiggy
fancy water bottle. Let's meet the contestants. He hit forty
(26:04):
seven home runs in his little league career, Steve Covino,
Yankees fan.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
Well, I don't want to take away from it is
twenty seven. Uh oh, I'll take the forties.
Speaker 7 (26:12):
Last time I heard you say forty seven. I think
it grows every time you talk about I'll take it,
all right. And the man who went three for four
in his Woodland Hills w Reck League last night, that's true,
I did. Yeah, you hit a homer, right, I did.
I'm back. It didn't clear the fence, but it was
a home run Rich Davis. And then over there in
the update studio Kevin Wyrett, who keV.
Speaker 5 (26:34):
Used to play Little League baseball? Right? What team? What
uniform did you rock? Oh?
Speaker 3 (26:40):
I several?
Speaker 7 (26:41):
First one that comes to mind Dodgers? Okay, nice Wowers.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
You know Danny Funk facts about me. I pitched the
no hitter in high school.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
But it has an asterisk because it was a game
that got called because of darkness.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
It only went five inches. I don't even count, no
it counts.
Speaker 7 (26:58):
I thought they found the brill opad in your back pocket.
All right, So keV is gonna play as well as
you on the studio lines right now. And you know what, Kevin,
I'll use you for this. Do you want to travel
to Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Connecticut, La or Arizona?
Speaker 5 (27:13):
You be the best?
Speaker 3 (27:14):
Well? I used to live in North Carolina. So let's
go out there.
Speaker 5 (27:16):
All right.
Speaker 7 (27:17):
That's Coley in North North Cacialaca. Coley, what's up?
Speaker 5 (27:24):
All right?
Speaker 7 (27:24):
Hopefully you win two of these categories. That way you
can walk away with a prize. Here are the rules.
I have five multiple choice categories ready to go, and
in case we need it, one tie breaker. Your name
is your buzzer, but you do have to wait until
all three possible answers are read. If we get two
wrong answers and or we just move on to the
next question, win two rounds and you are the champ.
Speaker 5 (27:44):
Are you ready?
Speaker 3 (27:45):
Let's go? Let's go?
Speaker 5 (27:46):
All right?
Speaker 7 (27:47):
MLB Trivia Number one. Which player currently holds the most
Grand Slams hit in Major League Baseball history? A Alex Rodriguez,
B Manny Ramirez or C. Barry Bonds? Colie Coolie merret
no keV for the steal Barry Bonds?
Speaker 3 (28:10):
No?
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Can I tell you I had I had a feeling
it was a Rod and I was I was just like.
Speaker 7 (28:16):
Yeah, yeah, A Rod hit twenty five of them in
twenty two seasons.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
Now I saw yesterday Jean Carlo hit his twelfth I
believe his seventh with the Yankees. I think he's one
of the top guys currently.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (28:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (28:30):
In case you're wondering where Mare's his second on that list?
All right, here we go.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
Who has the biggest run differential in in the MLB?
Speaker 5 (28:38):
Right now?
Speaker 2 (28:38):
The Brave Cleveland Let me let me look the biggest
run different I'll look that up when we get our next.
Speaker 7 (28:44):
Quow, I'm the one, I'm asking the trivia question. All right,
the second round. What was the result of Jackie Robinson's
first MLB at bat for the Dodgers A A two
run homer, B he hit a ground rule double or
C he grounded out?
Speaker 5 (29:02):
keV grounded out? Yes, kids on.
Speaker 7 (29:05):
The board, at first he did. He did hit a
home run in that game. It was not his first
st at bat.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Shane Gillis does a very popular bit currently where white
people got less cool immediately after Jackie Robinson stepped in
the play and he says he hit a home run
his first at bat and his famous bit. So there's
a lot of people I think that I actually looked
that up recently. I'm like Jackie Rompinson at home. No,
he hit a home run his first game. It was
his first hit for the Dodgers, was a three run homer.
(29:34):
All right, here we go, and by the way, biggest
run differential in baseball. Because Koley needed to know Cleveland
plus thirty two.
Speaker 5 (29:42):
Oh, all right, here we go, Kevin. Kevin is on
the board.
Speaker 7 (29:49):
Yeah, Cleveland was the answer there, right, Okay, okay, trivia
MLB trivia here number three, How many cy Young Awards
did the great Nolan Ryan win during his A three,
B two or C zero reach? Ah, Covino got in
their first zero? Yeah, fun fact, fun fact zero.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
He has more no hitters than cy Young but never
won a cy Young Yeah, that's amazing.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Ridiculous, Eddie, he had.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
It's amazing and uh, you know what it was likely?
Speaker 2 (30:22):
How many times did he landed a punch on Rodin
Vanter his head?
Speaker 7 (30:26):
Twelve?
Speaker 3 (30:26):
Twelve punches to the head. Yes, the over over under twelve?
Speaker 2 (30:30):
You know what I'm gonna go over, you know, I
will say, though, no one Ryan. When you look back
at his career, he was dominant, but even some of
his big years he had double digit losses because he
always got the decision and there was always some guy
every year that somehow got the votes over him.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
There was always someone having a career.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Year throwing that gas when he was like forty. Unbelievable,
I say, some stallic He has more strikeouts post forty
years old than some Hall of famers doing their whole career.
Speaker 7 (30:57):
All right, both Kevin and Covino on the board. Colie,
I hope you get Revan here at number four, which
pitcher is the youngest in MLB history to throw a
complete game shutout A Dwight Gooden of the Mets, b
Jim Palmer of the Orioles, or ce Greg Maddox for
the Braves.
Speaker 5 (31:14):
Rich Coley Rich, Oh, no, Rich.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
First, I was gonna say, I would pass a lot
to Coli if I could, But I gotta tell you
it's my New York met Dwight Goodin.
Speaker 7 (31:24):
No, No, all right, Coley for the steal. Coley, you've
got Jim Palmer, Jim Palmer or Greg Maddox.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
Oh, Greg Maddox, it would have been for the cub No,
Jim Palmer.
Speaker 5 (31:43):
Jim Palmer is the correct answer. Twenty years old.
Speaker 7 (31:46):
So Kevin Coveno Coley all on the board, three way
tie as we go to round five.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
You know what I'm out. I'm just letting you guys play.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
But you know what Doc Goodin wow is that he
never he didn have a complete game shot out that
rookie year where he was dominating.
Speaker 5 (31:59):
Huh, it's the Palmer all right, number five.
Speaker 4 (32:02):
Which did Dwight couldn't throw twenty strikeout game?
Speaker 3 (32:05):
Yeah, Dwyke, Dwyke that early Dwyke did he.
Speaker 4 (32:09):
Have like a Kerry Wood game.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
I don't think he had twenty. Look it up, Rich,
I love Colly's got questions.
Speaker 7 (32:16):
Which current MLB team has not yet reached the World Series?
A the Seattle Mariners, B, the Colorado Rockies or C
the Milwaukee Brewers. keV got in there first seats?
Speaker 5 (32:29):
Yes, keV?
Speaker 3 (32:32):
Nice? Good job?
Speaker 5 (32:35):
All right? Good really quick.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
I couldn't get there.
Speaker 5 (32:39):
I know, even after that one hundred and sixteen win season.
Speaker 3 (32:42):
Coley, thanks for playing.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
Yeah, man, they always say that what that ninety five
team was the one that saved baseball in Seattle, Ken
Griffy Junior. But yeah, never made World Series. So thank
you very much, appreciate you. And to answer your question, Coley,
Dwight Good and the most strikeouts he's ever had in
a game sixteen, and he's done it three times, two
(33:08):
times in his rookie year of nineteen eighty four.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
So I told you lights out early on. Does Dwight
goodn't come to mind?
Speaker 2 (33:14):
Danny G when you think of players that if they
didn't have a bad path with drugs and stuff, would
have just been elite on a different.
Speaker 7 (33:22):
Level, definitely towards the top of that list. And when
I think of being a little kid. Whenever Dwight good
And would be pitching. I remember it on all the TVs.
Wherever you went inside the mall, passing restaurants, bars, sports bars,
it was Dwight good And on the screen and everybody
paying attention to every pitch.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
He had his struggles, but he was still so likable.
You know, he was such a good dude, like a
kind hearted guy. You rooted for Dwight good And and
I was nice or I was happy to see how
grateful he was when the Mets said they were going
to retire his number started crying. Dwight Gooden definitely on
(33:59):
that list of players that man if they didn't go
down a path of drugs.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
Or alcohol, un a lot of those players.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
But yeah, he's you know, Denny, was there a player
out here in LA because I know it's different for
every city. Kevino and I both grew up in New York,
New Jersey. If you were a kid playing little league
in the eighties, you would do that high leg kick
like you were Dwight Gooding, Like.
Speaker 7 (34:21):
Oh, we all pretended like we were Fernando Valenzuela. The
way he looked up his delivery was second to none,
and we all tried to do it.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
That's that's like one of those things that we don't realize.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
Every city across the land, when you were in the
Little league, everyone every there was one player in every.
Speaker 3 (34:36):
City who kids imitated playing Little League.
Speaker 2 (34:39):
In New York, Long Island where I was growing up,
at least every guy tried to do that exaggerated high
leg kick like they were Doc Gooding. I couldn't legend.
Thank you for playing again. We do it several times
a week on the Cavino and rich Show.
Speaker 5 (34:54):
Yeah, we'll have NBA trivia tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
Some NBA trivia tomorrow, so definitely join us your chance
to win. Congrats to Kevin, and thank you Coley for
playing along. Not we have more Cavino and rich and
for Dan Patrick live from the Mercedes Benz Studio.
Speaker 1 (35:06):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
Wap it's Covino and rich In for Dan Patrick, The
Dan Patrick Patrick. So we'll be back tomorrow doing some
NBA trivia, Shack Diesel NBA Trivia for more prizes Manana
tomorrow morning and of course, we'll be talking about Perdue
Yukon for sure, so join us tomorrow morning.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
Well, I think there's two types of people.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
You might say politics, Rich, No, no, not talking about politics.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
You might say, uh, what is he talking about.
Speaker 2 (35:48):
There's people that think one shining moment's awesome, and there's
people that think one shining moment is corny as hell.
I like winning, I like montages. I like seeing people celebrate.
I'm just and the song is a little dated. That's
nothing against Luther. There's a few versions of it. By
the way, tonight, when this game wraps up and this
(36:12):
song comes on, there's gonna be a lot of grown
men with a little tear coming out of the corner
of their eye. I'm not judging. I'm just not a
fan of the song. You all have to like it. Yeah,
Rich radio chop hitting the post for sure.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
Now, I'll tell you what.
Speaker 2 (36:36):
You put anything to a song, it'll get you emotional.
Speaker 3 (36:41):
Any slide show.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
You were a wedding to people you don't even care about,
and they show some sort of slideshow montage, it'll it'll
catch you.
Speaker 3 (36:51):
I've credit wedding.
Speaker 2 (36:53):
I've credited a wedding where I don't care about the
I agree. You throw some winning moments, a Rocky montage
into this montage, it'll get you emotional. A karate kid montage,
a Cowboys montage, Joel, when they lose any montage good
or bet who doesn't love a montage? Well, tonight, it
(37:14):
all culminates with Perdue and Yukon. Can I say the
best montage ever isn't one you're gonna see tonight. It's
Rocky three, Rocky three, there's no easy way out montage.
When he's looking in the rear view mirror, he's like, absolutely.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
That's Rocky four. Oh, Rocky four.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
Yeah, you're right, it's no easy way out, you know,
because then I'm picturing Drago and everything else.
Speaker 3 (37:38):
Yeah, veno.
Speaker 7 (37:39):
There's also that montage when you're thrown away all your
ex girlfriend's pictures.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
That's one that's a tear dropper right there. You saw that, Joel.
I don't know anyone saw that. So tonight, Perdue, Yukon,
Danny g Off there goes yeah, maybe you have some
gambling insight. And you know what, It's interesting because both
teams have really sort of coasted to this final game mostly.
(38:09):
I mean, Yukon's a six and a half point favorite tonight,
But can we just quickly take you through their journey.
Opening round they won by thirty nine points over Stetson.
Second round they won by almost twenty over Northwestern. Then
in the sweet sixteen they beat San Diego State by thirty.
Then they in the Elite eight, they beat Illinois by
(38:29):
twenty five, and then they beat Alabama.
Speaker 3 (38:34):
By what seventeen? So I'm sorry, Alabama by fourteen?
Speaker 2 (38:40):
So you gotta ask yourself, Kavino, does anyone beat Yukon.
Zach Ed's got the goods. Purdue, they've sort of coasted
as well, but it seems like Yukon has really not
even been challenged. Well, that's six twenty tonight on the
west side, nine to twenty on the east. That people
(39:01):
on the East coast mad about that late start, They
have to be right, Yeah, I would say so. Yeah,
you gotta stay up a little later to watch this montage.
So I guess your money's on Yukon, is what you're saying?
Speaker 3 (39:10):
Rich?
Speaker 2 (39:11):
Yeah, I mean listen, Zach Eaedy probably the most notable
player in men's college troops. But do you really see
Yukon losing? No, they've coasted like there was a minute.
You know, Kavina, I know you would have won the
Fox Sports Radio Bracket Challenge had Alabama one. I'm still
(39:34):
in first place because of the points. Yeah, because of
the points. Yeah, that's that's not gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
You're done.
Speaker 5 (39:39):
Yeah, you're not going to finish.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
But hey, for that moment, you were dang it.
Speaker 5 (39:43):
I wanted Westinghouse.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
You that was your one shining moment, but I was
doing well, Kavina.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
There was a point that game in the first half
where it was back and forth, it was tied up,
it was going back, and then what happened was like
much like with South Carolina, over I win the women's side,
the better team will eventually pull away.
Speaker 3 (40:03):
Well and there.
Speaker 2 (40:05):
History was made, though, because this is the first year
for a lot of people where they thought the women's
finals were more exciting than what we're getting tonight. I
think we got I think I think the men's rating
ratings tonight will we'll beat the women's. But overall the tournament,
there's a huge sentiment that for the first time in forever,
for the first time.
Speaker 3 (40:26):
Ever, are you quoting Elsa who I was, Yes.
Speaker 2 (40:30):
But for the first time ever, people could say, yeah,
the women brought the excitement more than the guys did.
Speaker 3 (40:35):
And I'll tell you what.
Speaker 2 (40:36):
I want to make it very clear that's not pandering
bs because there are a lot of guys like, all right,
guys like, for real, do you really feel that way?
Speaker 3 (40:44):
I really do. I do. And I'll tell you what.
Speaker 2 (40:46):
I would not lie to you and be like man
women's sports, I'm really no. I've said earlier, I've never
watched a w NBA game in my life.
Speaker 3 (40:55):
But I'll tell you what.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
My eyes were glued to the last few rounds of
the women's NCAA torment.
Speaker 3 (41:00):
And so, as we said in.
Speaker 2 (41:01):
The first hour of the show, can they somehow capture
that lightning in a bottle, that magic and get the
eyes moving over to the WNBA next year with people
like Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark and some of these
star young women. Yeah, well we talked about that in
the first hour. If you catch it on the podcast,
we appreciate it. Against search, Covino and Rich wherever you
(41:22):
stream your podcast, CoV I, n O Cavino.
Speaker 3 (41:24):
And Rich and uh Rich. We still have more radio.
We still got our Patreon it.
Speaker 2 (41:28):
Yeah, we're gonna go do that and Uh, we'll be
back here for DP tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (41:31):
I had one last talk Cavino.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
If it's cool with you, sure, And it has a
lot of people talking about John Kyla Powery.
Speaker 3 (41:38):
Moving on, and you know what it reminds me of.
Speaker 2 (41:41):
It's uh, anytime, whatever you do for a living, if
you feel like the writing's on the wall, like yeah,
I don't know if this is the place for me anymore.
If you get another job opportunity, you're doing everyone a favor.
You're doing your former employee of favor because it's like
they don't have to make a tough decision, and it
also gives you new life somewhere or else, like he's
(42:01):
in Arkansas now he's bought himself at least five years
of Oh he could build it up, Like no, there's
no pressure. I think it's a right move for everyone.
And I think you got to think about that in
your own life and your own business. If the writing's
on the wall, sometimes it's best you just move on
and you save everyone else to hassle or the struggle.
Speaker 5 (42:19):
I like it.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
And tomorrow we're gonna talk about the worst neighbors ever,
So start thinking about it. Perfect We'll see then Riba
theirci baby. See you in the Promised Land and lead
you guys.
