Watching the basketball last night wild final thirty seconds, but
(01:30):
the nixt go up two to oh in the seventy
six ers and then the Nuggets down twenty beat the
Lakers at the buzzer to go up to oh. Now,
the Lakers led for almost forty five minutes of last
night's loss to the Nuggets, so Denver led for a
total of forty four seconds. All you have to do
(01:52):
is lead for one and that's what they did with
Jamal Murray with the jumper at the buzzer. NBA teams
winning the first two games of the best of seven
series have gone on to win ninety two percent of
the time. Basketball coming up tonight, Sons and the Timberwolves,
Pacers and the Bucks, Mavericks and the Clippers will.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Settle on a poll question.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
By the way, the Joker had twenty seven, twenty and
ten as they pick up the win. So he said
four career playoff games with at least twenty five points,
at least twenty rebounds in at least ten assists. The
rest of the NBA the history of the NBA has
a total of four games.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
He has five.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
The rest of the NBA that includes Kareem did it once,
Dave Cowens did it once, Will Chamberlain did it twice.
The Joker has done it five times in his career.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
Stat of the.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Day, Sat of the day to bust, stat of the day, stat.
Speaker 5 (02:51):
Of the day.
Speaker 6 (02:53):
Here comes that?
Speaker 3 (02:54):
What stat of the day.
Speaker 7 (02:58):
Pop?
Speaker 2 (02:58):
And it's been nearly fifty years since the last player
other than Joker has done this Dave Cowens, so, Wilt
did it twice, Dave Cowens once, and Kareem did it
once as well.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
But how many.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Star players MVPs do you watch and go? He might
not take the last shot because last night he was
setting a pick for Jamal Murray and you had Anthony
Davis switch off on Jamal Murray. But you know you
normally think, okay, clear out the stars, got it. He's
going to try to score. But Joker is so good
(03:34):
at passing, like you always have to be aware of
do we focus on him and let somebody else beat you.
As I've said before, I don't want the best player
on the floor to beat me. Well, Jamal Murray is
You're not going to write the history of this Nuggets
team without Jamal Murray. Now, he hadn't made an All
Star appearance yet, and I say yet, but he's one
(03:57):
of those guys when you watched certainly in the play and.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
You go, yeah, he's pretty good.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Get you get kind of swallowed up into the vortex
of the Joker when Jamal Murray got the ball, knew
what he wanted to do and hit the shot over
Anthony Davis.
Speaker 5 (04:13):
Yes, Mark, did Jamal Murray feel like Jason Terry almost?
Whereas like they don't win that championship without Jason Terry
stepping up in big moments.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Well, Jason Terry was a sixth man, but yeah, he
was big for Dallas when they won that championship. I
think he might be a little bit above that as
far as name recognition. I mean, he's a starter, second
best player. But you know they have Porter who played
well Gordon that you can sometimes get lost in the
smoke that is Joker. You know you have those players
(04:45):
you know, Chris Middleton, he was always but he had
made an All Star game, but he was like Chris
Middleton's pretty good, or at least he used to be.
Now that star Sometimes like Tyrese Maxey is really good
with the seventy six ers, but you still have Joel Embiid.
Players get lost in the shuffle a little bit there,
and that's probably the case with Jamal Murray. But if
(05:05):
you're the Lakers, I don't know, if you're a Laker
fan today, do you say, man, like, we're there. You know,
we were up by twenty, Hey, same as last year.
We're really close. We didn't get blown out. Yeah we
got swept, but we didn't get blown out. Or do
you go, I don't know if we have what it
(05:25):
takes to get over the hump here. Yes, we're up
twenty and then we lost. We've lost a lot of
close games to them. Well, that's the difference between being
good and being great. That's the difference between being eliminated
or advancing. What do you do when you need to
do it? And that's what Denver did last night. You know,
(05:47):
even the Knicks, I mean, it was a wild frenetic
pace there in the final thirty seconds, and it was like,
what is going on here? Well, seventy six ers, you
can't blow that kind of lead with thirty seconds to go.
Did you get an offensive rebound when you were supposed to?
Did you make both of your free throws? Did you
call the time out? Could you get the ball in?
(06:08):
Did you leave somebody open for a wide open three? Like,
that's not what you know good teams, well coached teams do.
And I really wondered about that with Nick Nurse last night.
Call timeout kind of get everybody together here, and you
got a heroic performance out of Joe ellenb I mean,
he's clearly gassed at the very end, he's doing his best.
(06:30):
He put up good numbers. Maxi is a star. As
I've said the last couple of years. Thought he was
an all star. But the little things and the little
things came back to haunt the Lakers. The little things
came back and haunted the seventy six ers last night.
Here is the Knicks, the last two buckets they had.
(06:51):
This is MSG with Mike Breen on the call eight.
Speaker 8 (06:56):
On the twenty four Deven chunzhol contad de Brunson, sidestep
putter shut.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Catch god Tock top bouncing one in two point game,
whoa knock loose and.
Speaker 8 (07:10):
Maxie gets knocked down, Heart takes it away, I'll top
to Devien Chuns on his shot, don't go, hearts teign
the rebound. Hartenstein gets it out to Ananobi defen Chuns
on a three bund. Next take a one pointly but
thirty eight seconds remaining.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
A double bound, let's go Mike Breen take up.
Speaker 7 (07:36):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Wow, that was fun. I watched it and I'm still
getting goosebumps with just that call. But uh, the Knicks,
and you think of the Sixers, and you think of
maybe Kawhi's shot that beat the Sixers in the playoffs
years ago when they went on to win the title,
and it just kind of hung the uh and then
it drops And then I thought that last night when
(07:59):
they got the friendly roll with with Brunson. But Joel
Embiid says, they're still gonna win this series.
Speaker 9 (08:07):
We should be torn to know, so you know we're good.
We're gonna win this series.
Speaker 6 (08:12):
You know we we're gonna win this.
Speaker 9 (08:14):
We know what we gotta fix and we did about
a job to this, so we're gonna fix it. But
with a better team.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
We're gonna keep fighting.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Okay, you might have more talent than the Knicks, that
doesn't make you a better team because the better team
usually wins, not the team with the most talent. The
better team, and the Knicks did what they needed to
do when they needed to do it, and the seventy
six ers didn't. The same with the Lakers. This is
how it sounded last night. On the final play of
(08:46):
Jamal Murray's jumper.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Dunting with the time out, we are time.
Speaker 10 (08:50):
I love it.
Speaker 6 (08:51):
Don't call it tie ball game.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Worst can happen?
Speaker 6 (08:53):
We go all the time Murray makes and moves.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
So Kevin Harlan with the call. There as Murray hits
the shot, goes into the bench, Anthony Davis falls into
the bench, and Denver ends up pulling out that victory.
Here is Lebron talking about what it's like to play Denver.
Speaker 9 (09:23):
I mean, we know they're a great Office of power team.
You know, we know they're going to get into a
rhythm mess on point.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
We're not.
Speaker 9 (09:29):
They're going to make runs, especially on their home floor,
just out to withstand him, and you know, I think
we did. Obviously, we give up a twenty point lead,
and you know that's unfortunate, but twenty point leads in
this league is not It's not safe, especially against the
defending champion. We've got to do better with that. But
we had our chances.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
They have had their chances this year and last year.
And maybe it's just Denver has an answer for every
question that the Lakers pose. Because I'm watching last night
and I go, okay, Lakers in a good rhythm here
just seemed like to start and stop, couldn't get a
flow going. It's same with the Sixers against the Knicks.
Sometimes we watch the first half and you go, okay,
(10:10):
most games aren't won in the first half, where you go, lad,
we're up, We're up by fifteen, up by twelve, we
go into halftime up by ten. It's the adjustments that
are made third and fourth quarter. In all sports, you
have that who makes a late adjustment, who does the
right thing at the right time, And last night it
was just you could feel Denver. You could feel it,
(10:34):
and then you could if you're a Laker fan, you
could almost feel it like slipping away, like hold on,
hold on, hold on, Yes, Mark.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
The Nuggets now feel like the Warriors during their run
we're that third quarter, the Warriors would just turn it on. Yeah,
and your lead was gone, no matter how big of
a lead that you had.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
Here's Anthony Davis being asked about guarding Jamal Murray and
you get.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
That last play and just what happened and what unfolded?
What was I don't know if you were screened or
what happened on that last play.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Jamal Okay, all right, that's a lot of detail there.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Slow down. I got to write all of this down.
But he got switched out on him. You know, I
think Jamal Murray saw if Ad came out on him,
then he's going to take him off the dribble because
D'Angelo Russell was guarding him. But man, I love a
guy who wants to take the shot, like Dante DiVincenzo
was taking some big shots last night. And Philadelphia has
(11:41):
done a really good job on Brunson. But you know,
once again, do you try to shut down the star
and then let everybody else around him try to fill in?
You know, Joker? Do I just play him straight up?
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Manda.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
Man, he's going to get his points. I just don't
want him to get his ship. But he has ten
assists last night. And that's sometimes the difference where your
big man gets his points, but then he's not getting
anything else. But joker man, you got to pick your poison.
And he doesn't seem bothered. If you take the shot
or I take the shot where I set you up
(12:17):
to take the shot, he has no problem. He checks
his ego at the door. But a lot of fun
last night. Oh, by the way, the Witness Protection Program
gave us the cabs against Orlando last night.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
They should put that on it like four in the afternoon.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
They should just to say, hey, you know, watch these
Orlando great story this year and Donovan Mitchell great watched them.
Jared Allen had a wonderful performance last night. Rebounds and points.
Maybe put it on where you can see it or
where you would watch it where you normally wouldn't. I
(12:54):
have a friends in family viewing for Cleveland and Orlando.
But Cleveland goes up getting the win. Jalen Suggs banged
up a little bit.
Speaker 3 (13:04):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
They he left the court and then he came back.
But don't know what the update is going to be
for his availability.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
Yes, Marvin Saturday, everybody one o'clock Saturday.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
Yeah, Cleveland at Orlando on TNT.
Speaker 11 (13:18):
Okay, TNT plus, Yes, extra CNT, that's our guys, True TV,
True TV.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Yeah, yes, uh.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
Donovan Mitchell had twenty three Jared Allen had sixteen points
and twenty rebounds. So, all right, playoff basketball. I mean
it was kind of nondescript Game one in most of
these series except for the Pelicans. But you know, this
was fun. It was fun last night. You had some
exciting finishes there. All right, what's poll question today, Seaton? Well,
(13:50):
you want to go with something after the break? We can,
because I was thinking who's in more who's in more trouble?
The Lakers or the seventy six ers.
Speaker 12 (14:04):
So I had a version of that version would be
okay a little more positive though, because I'm more of
a glasses half fall are the guy?
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Are you that's right? Okay?
Speaker 2 (14:13):
All right, well then we'll see your version. I might
have an aversion to your version.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
Version to your version.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
Yes, So we'll take a break. We're just getting started.
We'll get to phone calls, settle on our poll question.
We're back after this.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern, six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio w app.
Speaker 13 (14:38):
Hey, what's up everybody? It's me three time pro bowler
LeVar Arrington and I couldn't be more excited to announce
a podcast called Up on Game?
Speaker 1 (14:46):
What is Up on Game?
Speaker 13 (14:47):
You asked, along with my fellow pro bowler TJ. Huschman,
Zada and Super Bowl champion. Yep, that's right, Plexico Burris,
you can only name a show with that type of
talent on it. Up on Game We're going to be
sharing our real life experiences loaded with teachable moments. Listen
to Up on Game with me, lebar Arrington, TJ. Houchman's
(15:09):
Ouda and Plexico Burrs on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts
or wherever you get your podcast from.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
All right, let's settle on a poll question. Now, I
threw out who's in more trouble Lakers or seventy six ers.
Seaton is going to take a positive spin on this
because I'm Danny Downer.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
Apparently, what are you thinking? Team down two? Most likely
to make a comeback?
Speaker 12 (15:38):
Ah, Sixers Lakers, Let's throw the magic in there, okay,
all right, Magic, sure, we see you, Orlando, we see you, Okay,
because they might actually be the one most likely to
come back if you're looking at it.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
By the way, the seventy six ers filed a grievance.
Soft what now they They didn't file a protest. They
filed a grievance, which sounds like it's a complaint. Do
we have the official wording of this of what constitutes
filing a grievance?
Speaker 4 (16:12):
Yeah? So.
Speaker 11 (16:13):
Late night last night, Tim bond Temps of ESPN reported
that the seven to six ers are planning to file
a grievance over the first two games of the series.
The officials no details on specific calls yet. They have
to put together like a package and send it to
the NBA. They actually have to edit together calls and
then send in what you're going to do. According to
(16:34):
another reporter with the Athletic Fred Katz, agrievance is not
an official protest of the game where you hope for
a different result or ruling. It's more of just an
official complaint about something in the game, usually official related.
There's no outcome from it. There cannot be an outcome.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
I always thought Phil Jackson could win a series or
help dictate a series early in a series where he'd
start complaining about the officiating. He'd go to the press
conference and he would in that deep voice of his
always talk about how they're missing calls.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
You know, pat Riley did this as well.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
There's certain coaches read Aarbach that they would kind of
it was one of those that subconscious type of thing
that you wanted it to hang with the official where
it's like, that's right, you know, they said that we're
not giving Michael Jordan enough calls here, or you know,
they're fouling Bill Russell here, and then somehow Someway. Now,
(17:28):
granted Phil always had a great team. That helps, But
I don't know if kind of putting that seed of
doubt in an official or the official's minds actually helps
where you go.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
Okay, I got a little make good there.
Speaker 7 (17:43):
Now.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
It always helped having you know, Kobe and Shaq or
Mike and Scotty that you would get maybe the benefit
of the doubt, maybe didn't even need the benefit of
the doubt that you had the better team there. But
when these coaches, nobody's ever happy with the officiat, Nobody
ever at the end of a game goes, you know what,
before I get started, you know that we won the game.
Let me tell you about how great the officiating was,
(18:06):
because if you're saying it's great, the opposing team is
probably saying it wasn't great.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
And there's always moments here.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
But when somebody's complaining about the officiating, I always go
did the officials force you to miss a free throw?
Or you didn't box out, or you missed a three.
You can blame it on the officials, but there's so
many other things in the course of a game where
you go whose faults that it's your fault, yes, Paul.
Speaker 11 (18:37):
According to The Athletic, the Sixers plan to say in
their grievance that they have been disadvantaged more than any
other team in the playoffs over the first two games
this series. They're going to provide information from Game two,
especially with the last two minutes. One of the things
in question was Nick Nurse was signaling for a timeout
and didn't get it.
Speaker 14 (18:54):
Well.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
They didn't have control of the ball though, right is
that when Maxi lost the ball and then he was
trying to call time out.
Speaker 11 (19:01):
It's tough because there's a camera on Maxie and then
there's a separate camera on Nurse. It's hard to tell
when and the timeout is not one of those demonstrative timeouts,
and it was kind of a hip check.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Here is Lebron James questioning do we have replay and
why do we have a replay center?
Speaker 9 (19:19):
I don't understand what's going on in replay center. To
be honest, I said it. I think I said it
this year, last year, whatever. Delo clearly gets hit in
the face on a drive. Do we have a replay center?
This is going to go that doesn't It doesn't make
sense to me, makes enough sense to me. It bothers me.
Sorry to ask you a question, but that is like
(19:41):
and then I just saw what happened with the Sixers
Nick game too. What are we what are we doing?
Speaker 2 (19:49):
Uh? Does Lebron hear from the home office for that
comment there?
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Todd? I think maybe that we catch them and use
his word, say, come on, Lebron, what are we doing?
Speaker 6 (19:58):
What are we doing to make me give you a fu?
Can we just let let it go?
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (20:02):
If somebody else says that, did they get fine? Yes
they do, but he might yeah he probably should. Yeah,
play it again.
Speaker 9 (20:11):
I don't understand what's going on in replace center. To
be honest, I said it. I think I said it.
This year or last year whatever. Delo clearly gets hitting
a face on a drive. Do we have a replay center?
This is going to go that doesn't It doesn't make
sense to me, makes no sense to me. It bothers me. Sorry,
didn't ask you a question, but that is like, And
(20:32):
then I just saw what happened with the Sixers Nick
game too. What are we what are we doing?
Speaker 2 (20:39):
Well, you might say, what are you guys doing? You
blew a twenty point lead. How about we start there?
And then if you want to single out one call
against D'Angelo Russell, are you really being fair? You blew
a twenty point lead?
Speaker 14 (20:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 12 (20:55):
See, I don't know if that's is that what the
replay center does is looking be like I think we
missed a foul right there, or act quit stop the game,
there's a foul right there.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
I don't think that they do that, do they?
Speaker 4 (21:05):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (21:05):
Mark, Well, on that play that Lebron's talking about, they
didn't call it, yeah, right, and they challenged it and
the Nuggets successfully won the challenge or the file was
called against the Nuggets, and the Nuggets challenged the call
and then won it back, and then won it back,
and then they were like, wait, like you I just
saw that.
Speaker 11 (21:25):
Yeah, Paul, I'm looking back in Lebron's career and he
has never been fined for criticizing the officials. I cannot
if he has, I can't find it. A couple of
times he's been in the crosshairs because of the things he said,
but the way he says it, he questions what's going on,
like he does it vaguely, almost like what he did here.
Speaker 3 (21:42):
Well, do they vaguely find him twenty five ish?
Speaker 4 (21:47):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (21:48):
I do think if it's a smaller named player, that's
worthy of a good twenty grand because then he referred
to a second game and he used some language there,
so that's that's fine worthy.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
Zach and long beach, Hi, Zach, what's on your mind?
Speaker 10 (22:02):
Hey?
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Dan?
Speaker 15 (22:03):
And the Danets hope all as well. Six four, two
seventy five. I wanted to talk about the NBA officials
and the replay center real quick. I'll make it very brief.
They need to have a little bit of responsibility, so
you can't get mad at Lebron for putting all of
his effort, you know, blood, sweat and tears so forth
(22:23):
into the game and then lose by a bucket and
then go back and look what happened at the NIXT game.
It's just like here, this is very inconsistent and there's
got to be a bottom line here. I understand the frustration,
and I don't think you should get fined. Dan and
the Danets have a great rest of your day, all.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
Right, Zach, hope you have a good day as well.
The Lakers coming home here, at least they're healthier because
Embiid and the Sixers coming home and Embiid is you know,
he's out there on one leg. Now he played well
last night. It's it's interesting if I say, hey, Embiid's
gonna put up those numbers or Anthony Davis going to
(23:01):
put up those numbers. I would like their chances because
if Embiid is able to match Brunson, actually he overshadowed
Brunson as far as scoring goes. Philly's done a good
job on Brunson. But ad matching Joker, you know, I'll
take that. If I can neutralize the best player in
the game, then you just and look, Dangelo Russell played
(23:23):
really well last night from three and Lebron had some
big numbers there, Like you got what you wanted if
you said here's the numbers. Do we win this game?
I would have said yes. If you would have said, hey,
Embid's going to put up these numbers, do we win
this game? I would say yes as well. But it's
the other players you can neutralize. Now, make sure you
(23:48):
take care of the other players. You cancel each other out.
And the Sixers didn't do that last night with the Knicks,
and Jamal Murray had the you know, had the bucket
to win it. Uh, let's see Jason in Mississippi. Hi, Jase,
what's on your mind today?
Speaker 4 (24:04):
Man?
Speaker 16 (24:05):
Good six six.
Speaker 15 (24:08):
One night?
Speaker 10 (24:08):
Alrighty man DPD all that crime. The Lakers didn't lose
that game.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
I mean, Denver didn't win the game.
Speaker 10 (24:18):
The Lakers gave them their game. All that crime that
they do on the other end of the court, the
ball Denver made, I don't know how many layups do
to them crying on the other end of court. If
they would have just got back and play some defense,
they would have had a different shots. I mean, all
that crime last might just kill even one.
Speaker 4 (24:36):
Even the coach was.
Speaker 10 (24:37):
Saying, hey, come on, get back, get back. They steady
down and crime man.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Jase, call back anytime, Thank you? I like it all
that crime, love his delivery. By the way, Jamal Murray
missed thirteen of his first sixteen shots, then he made
six of his last day. So that's one of those
where if you're a shooter, you keep shooting and even
(25:05):
though it feels uncomfortable, like you know, you just never
want to take his shot and go, I hope I
don't miss. Shooters don't have that mentality. You can't Jamal
Murray missing thirteen of his fists first sixteen. Most players
would go, you know, maybe I stop shooting here, But
then you make six of your last day.
Speaker 11 (25:23):
Yeah, Paul, you're just talking that playing game with the Warriors.
If Klay Thompson hits the last three to win it
and he's won for eleven, you know, with the game winner,
it's a funny story. Yeah, you know, it's a footnote,
not a judgment of you know, he's really going downhill
as a player.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Yeah, they got to move on from him. But if
he hits that shot and they win, they move on.
They're like, you know, all right, Clay can still do it.
You know, he can still hit the big shot when
he needs to. Andrew and Washington, Hey, Andrew welcome.
Speaker 16 (25:50):
Back, Good morning, Dan Dennis, thanks for taking my call.
I agree Lakers crying last night. They weren't getting back,
But who wants to run the full court at fives
some two hundred and eighty feet. I'd be crying too,
acting like I didn't want to run down the court.
But really and truly, I you know, to quote the
great Dennis Green, they were who we thought they were
(26:11):
last night, and we let them off the hook. You know,
you look at it, and yeah, Jokis had an historic game,
but you know, Ad and Lebron d'angela Russell had the
second most points in his career in a playoff loss,
most for the Lakers, and they just didn't do it,
you know, And so what is it going to take?
Four hundred and ninety four days, going on five hundred days,
(26:32):
they haven't won against Denver regular season or postseason. They
just got to be able to be consistent and keep
the momentum going down the stretch, because that's when we're
losing the game. We're up, we're winning the s first half,
we're losing it all in the second half. And it's
just like Jokics does his double spin moves in the
post puts up his jump hook three or four times
and gets him back in the game. And then they
(26:52):
just take it over and it's getting old and Lakers
need to figure it out. It's done.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
Yeah, and also, and thanks for the phone calling, Andrew.
The altitude is a big deal. It almost feels like
the Lakers try to do their damage in the first
half and then hold on for dear life in the
second half because it does affect you. I mean, Joker
played forty one minutes last night, a little over forty one.
I think you know you got Ad and Lebron. You
(27:19):
know they're logging heavy minutes here, but you have to
You can't just say I'm gonna sit down for a
little while. Because Denver doesn't let off the gas pedal.
They get into a different gear. They're still moving forward.
And you saw that it does affect him. And Lebron
is thirty nine, and you know eighties had all of
(27:41):
his injuries here. Yes, yes, Marvin.
Speaker 5 (27:44):
Yeah, because in the first half, Anthony Davis looked like
the best player who's ever played basketball. He was abusing
Joker yes, down low, and then the second half, Jokers like,
now how about we reverse this?
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Yeah, And that's what happened.
Speaker 2 (27:57):
It feels like the Lakers are trying to win a
game in the first Yeah, and they almost.
Speaker 3 (28:01):
Did last night. Yes, it is tough too, like.
Speaker 12 (28:08):
About that shot with Jamal Murray, not only because it
happened over Anthony Davis, but like we were saying before,
you know, he sort of splayed out in the chairs. Oh,
he looked like he just took a right cross to
the jaw boom, just like this.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
His legs are up. He looked like he just got
knocked the hell out.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (28:26):
Oh, he looks stunned. Yeah, you know he needs help
getting up. Like he said, little Birdie's over his head.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
It looked like weekend at Bernie's where he's just like, wait,
is he alive? But you know when you say, hey,
I'll never win Defensive Player of the Year that the
league doesn't like me, Well, you had your moment there,
like if you want to send a message to the
voters and say, hey, by the way, I should have
been Defensive Player of the Year, and then you get
(28:54):
the block on Jamal Murray, the league doesn't love me.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
That's tough.
Speaker 4 (29:00):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
Yeah, Sean in Florida, Hey Sean, welcome back.
Speaker 7 (29:06):
Hey, Sean Hey, Dan, Dan, Hey, Dan, and Danet's uh six.
I wanted to say, I like how the rest let
the nixt play last night. It was one of the
most exciting finishes I've seen in a basketball game in
a long time. Also, Jason and Mississippi? Is that a
shirt idea? All that crying? Maybe some crying coming down
(29:29):
from the letters, a pool of tears with a crown
in it? Maybe I did?
Speaker 3 (29:33):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Right, thank you, Sean, all right? Always looking for suggestions
with the merchandise department. Got some new T shirts there
as well. Got a lot of great things there for you.
Go to Dan Patrick dot com. Make sure you sign
up for the newsletter as well. Nearly one hundred thousand
of you have done that. But Dan's deals will be
announced on the newsletter tomorrow. Well, so Drake May, North
(29:57):
Carolina quarterback will join us on the program tomorrow. This
is one of those drafts where you go, is there
going to be any news leading up to the draft?
Speaker 4 (30:08):
Now?
Speaker 2 (30:08):
I don't know if there's a big surprise on draft
night where you go, oh my god, did you hear
what the Raiders did? Or Denver, did you know? Will
somebody surprise us? But we're still looking for that story.
I think we thought yesterday with Jaden Daniels and does
he not want to go to the commanders? You know,
we were able to run with that for a little while,
(30:30):
but that kind of dissipated feels like maybe get something
today or tomorrow, or maybe it's just all you know,
quiet well at crickets going into Thursday night. But normally
have that kind of a subplot, maybe not a major plot,
but subplot of hey keep an eye on this, or
(30:51):
this could happen. This is what they're thinking. And once
these reporters get into town with these teams and then
they're able to pull somebody aside and say, hey, can
you give me some background here? Can you help me out?
Speaker 3 (31:03):
Now?
Speaker 2 (31:03):
This is what happens, or at least you try to,
you know, go in and say, all right, can you
give me an idea of what you're thinking, because when
they go to sou Palantonio and he's you know, with Carolina,
then he's going to be able to say, hey, this
is what I found out. You don't want to go
to sou Palantonio and saalgo, I don't know what's going on?
(31:25):
Alrighty back to the studio. You want to have a
little bit of information there and once you get there,
and you probably get there today, and then you're with
these teams on draft night and you want to find
out because where do you want to be? You want
to be in Chicago, probably not Washington, all right, Patriots
could be interesting. I'd like to be at the Chargers,
(31:47):
find out what you know Harball is going to do?
Going to trade down? You know, are you going to
get a receiver, You're going to get an offensive lineman?
Who's trading down? How far do you trade down? And
who who's moving up? That's always the key, and there
will be a team that moves up and you'll go, wow,
they're all in. And I heard this yesterday. But once again,
(32:10):
when I if I hear something I believe in, then
I tell you a source said this, and I can
report this. It's just like a source said Monday that
I told you. He says, I got six quarterbacks going
in the first round. Now, a lot of people the
over unders four and a half. But my source said, hey,
(32:30):
I didn't think that people loved Bo Nicks and Michael
Pennix as much as they do. Pennix, you have some
teams that love him, love him. Some teams are like,
if he's there in second round, yeah, that'd be a guy.
But my source said, look, I got two teams that
love Pennix and then you got bow Knicks who it's
(32:53):
still attached, maybe to Denver or maybe the Rams.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
Because I brought it up.
Speaker 2 (32:59):
Nobody had reported this, but I could see the Rams
going after a quarterback. And now you're starting to hear
you know, if Pennix is there or bo Nix is there, Like,
why wouldn't you look if you can get the guy
you really like and Sean McVay can go, Man, that's
that's the guy to take over for Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 7 (33:19):
Go.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
You haven't had draft picks. Now you have a chance.
And if you get somebody that Sean goes, hey, you
give him to. It's like Denver. You know, Sean Payton
traded for Zack Wilson. Now he has a chance to
unbust and now you go to Sean Payton. Well, if
you're going to go to somebody who can help your career,
(33:40):
Sean McVay certainly, Kyle Shanahan, certainly, Sean Payton. Where you're
going to these quarterback friendly coaches. Maybe maybe Zack Wilson,
you know, is able to go in there learn listen.
Speaker 3 (33:55):
But then is Denver going to take a quarterback?
Speaker 2 (33:58):
I don't think that because they got Zaza Wilson that
they're not going to take a quarterback, or at least
try to let me.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
Take a break.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Got our play of the day coming up next and
more phone calls as well.

Speaker 3 (34:32):
He's at the midcourt circle.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
Four seconds, three seconds left.
Speaker 3 (34:35):
Why are they not voweling jumper?
Speaker 9 (34:37):
Murray?
Speaker 11 (34:38):
Did dat bird bous to come back?
Speaker 1 (34:42):
They come back from twenty points down.
Speaker 3 (34:45):
They went gun number two and the Lakers can take
that out on the way out. That's courtesy of Altitude
Radio Network.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
Last time the Lakers blew a twenty point lead in
the playoffs, Game four of the eight NBA Finals, they
were up twenty four on the Celtics and they lost
by six.

Speaker 12 (35:33):
Up there right now, Team down two most likely to
make a comeback right now. It might be recency bias
because they were the latest game last night, but the
Lakers slightly in the lead early results though.
Speaker 2 (35:43):
I think if Embiid was completely healthy, then I would
probably say Philadelphia. But it might feel, you know, maybe
this is the nixt year that I know the fans
have been chanting they want Boston. Well, if you win,
you get Boston. It's not that you want them, you'll
get them. But maybe it's that, you know, special kind
(36:04):
of year for this team. Not the most talented, but
it's it's been a great team and you got the
Villanova connection. They all had, you know, great nights for
the most part. You know, Heart's been great, the Bencenzo's
been great, and of course, Brunson's been an MVP candidate
this year. Stat of the Day is always brought to
you by Panini America, the official trading cards of The
(36:26):
Dan Patrick Show. Robin Orlando, Hey, Rob, what's on your
mind today?
Speaker 17 (36:32):
Hey?
Speaker 14 (36:32):
Good morning, dang morning boys. A one quick thing on
the Lakers, and then I got a part of the
face bet. First off, I love these guys. When these
coaches get up there and we're not gonna make any excuses.
Then we talk about, you know, for two to five
minutes about how bad the calls were. Now that you
can't have a booth ways, I mean, they had plenty
of opportunities to win that game and wait to ruin
(36:54):
a great night of basketball to hear that press conference afterwards,
because that was the best NBA basketball I've seen in
a couple of years. App of the face bet obviously,
I'm in Orlando. Uh oh, I will take the magic
to make it to the Eastern Conference champions I'm.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
Okay, all right, Marvin's uh Marvin wants a piece of you.
Speaker 14 (37:17):
I'm all in. You got it?
Speaker 3 (37:18):
Seating? I think, what's a piece of you?
Speaker 7 (37:20):
Hold?
Speaker 3 (37:21):
Can I actually jump in on Robin Orlando's side? That
I agree with Rob. So it'll be me and Rob
against Marvin? Sure?
Speaker 7 (37:29):
Can we?
Speaker 12 (37:30):
I don't know if we've ever done that before? But
can I jump in with Rob? Can I be on
your side?
Speaker 14 (37:35):
Rob?
Speaker 4 (37:36):
Rob?
Speaker 3 (37:36):
Do you want Seating on your side?
Speaker 14 (37:38):
I do absolutely, Man Seaton on my side.
Speaker 12 (37:41):
Let's go alrighty, all right, that's a first. All right, Rob,
me and you buddy.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
So now we have Danettes who were teaming up with
listeners against Danette.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
Up is down? Down is up? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (37:52):
So Seating and Rob versus Marvin Orlando going to the
Eastern Conference finals.
Speaker 3 (37:57):
Let's go, yeah, Paul.
Speaker 11 (37:59):
Going to now winning A little specific there, The Magic
are down two o of the Calves. They had to
get past them. If the Celtics beat the Heat, they
would have to get past the Celtics. That would get
them in. They don't have to face the Bucks, Pacers,
Nick sixers.
Speaker 12 (38:14):
Right clear path, a straight line, Yeah it is, Yes,
it is a straight line.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
Straight line right to a pie hawk in Phoenix. Good
morning Hawk, what's on your mind?
Speaker 3 (38:27):
Good morning Dan.
Speaker 17 (38:29):
I've called it before, but it's been a while and
I've ended the show three times in a row. I
think waiting on hold anyways, six foot two, two seventy seven. Well,
I was at two seventy seven. Now I'm down to
a flaccid two fifty five, and I'm calling on behalf
of Marvin Marvin and his mom. I hate Yukon and
I hate the Big East. I'm an Arizona fan. But
(38:50):
I thought Marvin might want to put something on the
sert because Connecticut winning two national championships might.
Speaker 10 (38:58):
Be going to jaf Con three.
Speaker 17 (39:01):
I thought it'd be a great shirt anyway.
Speaker 12 (39:04):
Alrighty hawk AnyWho deaf Khan Connecticut, def u Khan Connectic.
Let's see if they get there next year. I still
like the can cut the nets shirt. Yeah, that was
pretty good. I thought that of Connecticut. It's cancut the nets.
(39:25):
That's pretty good.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:27):
Luciano in Brooklyn joining us, Hey Luciano.
Speaker 4 (39:30):
Hey, good morning, copple copy, how.
Speaker 3 (39:32):
Are you good? Good good good?
Speaker 4 (39:34):
Marvin Face Kane what else? And the Course to the
Good Fellas, Todd Seedon, and my personal favorite, the guy
who I honestly believe would have done extremely well in
the coast and as the street collector because of his feistiness,
polypaps Ak Pauly the paddle what's it about.
Speaker 3 (39:51):
I don't know what it's about.
Speaker 4 (39:52):
Today, all right, all right, all right, guys listen, so capo.
First of all, we need Cappo dance shirts. Let me
just throw that out there. I don't know what's going
on with you guys with that. All right, So number two, listen,
I got to tell you a fun fact about me
in order for you to appreciate what's about to happen.
So give me a little latitude in this one. When
I was a little kid on my grandfather on my
(40:13):
mother's side used to always tell me, for Batim Luciano,
I want you to be a good guy, not a
nice guy, and so you don't make confusion. Let me
explain to you the difference. He says. If you see
a guy take an old lady's purse and start running,
I want you to catch this guy, give him a
terrific beating, and then give the old idie backer purse.
That's the good guy, he said. The nice guy is
(40:35):
gonna let the guy get away and say, man, that
guy really needed the money. Then he's gonna walk up
to the old lady and give him money out of
his own pocket. He said. This guy is a potential
rat masterard because he just showed you that he's willing
to make excuses to compromise his integrity. So that being said,
Andrew in Washington, I am not a nice guy, but
(40:56):
I am a good guy. So I'm going to give
you the rest of the week to come up with
whatever story Cakamnia story you want to make up, and
then I want you to call CAP on Monday and
tell them what you've been doing, or I'm going to
call it on Tuesday and give you a terrific beating
on air.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
All right, well, thank you, Luciana. It's a long winded
way of saying Andrew, come up with the goods on Monday,
and knowing Andrew and Washington, he will. All right, Our
two on the way, all our good buddy, Chris Mannox
is going to join us. Spain is stacked. We'll talk
to Chris. Lakers got a legitimate beef? Do the Sixers
(41:36):
have a legitimate beef? Which team has a better chance
of coming back? Our two on the way,
