Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's the Dan Patrick Show. Here Fox Sports Radio. LaVar
Arrington Jonas knocks with you. You can listen to this show
as always on the iHeartRadio app. You can find us
on hundreds of affiliates all across the country. No matter
where you are making us a part of your Monday morning,
we appreciate it. We won't be taking you all the
way up till the end of this hour noon Eastern time,
nine am Pacific. It is a two hours plus into

(00:28):
the program. We open up the show talking about the
NBA Playoffs. Obviously, last night the Dallas Mavericks go up
three games to none over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Minnesota got
a better game from Anthony Edwards, but unfortunately they're not
getting enough help for Anthony Edwards by way of Carl
Anthony Towns, who has struggled.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
He has not shot the.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
Balls helping h.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Yeah, he's helping the map, helping them to lose. Yeah,
he's helping the Mavericks.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
He's helping the MAVs.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
In fact, you know what you know if they give
out a Western Common Prince Finals MVP Carl Anthony Towns
has got to be in the discussion, Like there's got
to be some some vote that that goes to him.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
He shot them boys right up out of that lead
last night, So.

Speaker 5 (01:16):
Any another one goes from another one.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
You know what. You know what I'd love to do,
Like I would love to.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Try thirty two shots at a carnival basketball hoop, like
at a carnival and see if I could make more
than four.

Speaker 5 (01:33):
Like I mean, if you're gonna pay for that many shots,
you know what I mean, Like, what does it matter
to win if you got to pay all that money, Like,
it's literally about you being able to like step up,
pay your money, get you three balls, knock one down,
knock two down, you get a bigger gift. Knock three down,

(01:54):
you get the super big gift. That's what is really about.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
I mean, yeah, come on, Carl Anthony.

Speaker 6 (02:00):
Park League, we'd be fighting. That'd be a fight.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
I mean, it's just it's not not good, not ideal
for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
So he just keep going though, Well yeah, I mean
it just.

Speaker 6 (02:12):
Like don't give them the ball, don't give.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
Them the ball, don't give him the ball.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
Let me tell you something, that day ball it's that
never give up attitude that I think really said from
anybody else.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
But nonetheless, it has gone from bad.

Speaker 6 (02:25):
He would take it out and throw it into itself.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
It has gone.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
It has gone from bad to worse for for Karl
Anthony Towns. Afterwards, he was meeting with reporters and they
were talking to him about his struggles.

Speaker 5 (02:41):
And how hewing like that and.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Aside from that moy tainee that he landed on lively
which knocked him out of the rest of the game,
he struggled from behind the arc. And so Carl Anthony Towns,
who has gone four to thirty two from three in
the series thus far, spoke with the members of the
media after the game and uh, we're going to listen
to his answer and response, followed by the postgame show

(03:10):
on TNT's reaction.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
To some of his statements. Le's take a listen.

Speaker 7 (03:13):
I'm playing up to fifteen hundred shots a day and
uh shot so well all playoffs. Confidence extremely high, and
to be having these unfortunate bounces in these local styles,
it's not going in it's it's it's tough.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
It's tough, for sure, you know.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
I'm glad.

Speaker 7 (03:31):
Confidence wise, it just got to keep shooting.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
You know what cap is, Yes, kat Kappa, he live.

Speaker 6 (03:39):
No, nobody should have fifteen hundred shots.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
A day right now. I'm surprised that you would wonder
if I knew what that meant.

Speaker 8 (03:43):
So I never made, I never took shots I made,
I did makes. So to make to make three hundred
and to day takes about thirty forty, about forty five minutes.
So if you're taking fifteen hundred, it's going to take
you about two and a half hours, and you already
practiced shoot the rest of its.

Speaker 9 (04:00):
And the thing that's funny about him saying that first boy,
he's lying like, yo, man, what kind of are you shooting? Fifteen?
Let's just say hypothetically he was tetting.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
The truth.

Speaker 9 (04:10):
Is he shooting fifteen hundred threes? That's the problem. It's
a type of shots he's getting. If he's just out
there shooting threes, he's still four for thirty two he
should be. Is he shooting in the mid range? Is
he doing in the post up? That would be my
question because that's always been my criticism of him.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
So it is now God that point where.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
It doesn't even have to be a debate.

Speaker 5 (04:36):
Bro you're seven foot, take your big ass down low
and post up and draw fouls and get two points.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
You out there, you don't never I was counting.

Speaker 5 (04:49):
He literally goes down low like I don't know, like
twice a quarter. And if he's not driving Jonas, he's
not driving to the hole, you will not see Karl
Anthony Towns in the paint.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
I mean, like I told like, there was an old
adage and we brought this up last week because we
threw this out like, hey man, if you're if you're
over six ' ten, you are not allowed to shoot
more than one three a half. And LeVar wants a
DNA test like he wants a twenty three and meters
spit in a tube.

Speaker 5 (05:27):
If you're not European or from from overseas, you know,
from Africa, you know somewhere, you can't.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
You're not allowed to shoot ye from that out out?

Speaker 3 (05:38):
No fair? And I think it's so if you're.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
An American jack, you post up.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
So he there's this old adage where they tell you
if you're the taller fighter of fight tall, like you know,
use your jab, use your reach, that's your advantage. Like
with Mike Tyson, he struggled against Buster Douglas because Buster
Douglas was so much taller than him and he had
a good jab, and so that that was part of
the It's like, that's a major advantage you have, so

(06:03):
use it. Dude, you're seven foot why are you twenty
four feet away? Like that's like there there there are
people walking around at six foot six ' one that
are like, man, I would kill to have that sort
of hype because I would just go inside all the time.
And he like doesn't want any part of it. It's
not even it's it's not not part of it.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
He's not interesting.

Speaker 5 (06:23):
My man said, well, you just gotta keep your confidence
up high and keep shooting.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
I did. You got to keep your confidence, keep shooting.
I know you don't. You go down on the block
and you post up.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
And the problem is now that it's being discussed the
way that it's being discussed, and it's so glaring and
so obvious.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
It's like it's.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Gonna be in his head more now, Like I can't
imagine he's gonna shoot better based on all the pushback
and feedback he's gotten.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
I just got a guy who is delusional about being
able to shoot threes.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
That's over seven foot You.

Speaker 5 (07:04):
Got another guy that's delusional about and and in fact,
the league is delusional about his ability to play play defense.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
And they both on the same team.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
You know how many horse jockeys out there would kill
to be Karl Anthony Towns They're.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
Like, and they would post up every guy.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
They're like, dude, you're gonna make three hundred million dollars
in your career and you're seven feet tall. Like I'm
five to one and a half and I've got a
ride around on a wild animal and circles just to
make ends meet and hope he doesn't lean back and
bite me once.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
And you out here shoot from way out there.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Come on, dude, when all you got to.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Do is reach up and you can dunk, you leave
your feet.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
Yes, it's it's bizarre, man, And it just keeps happening.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
And then you knock out one of the bigs.

Speaker 5 (07:50):
You need the man out of the game, and you
still didn't want to go down low and post people up.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
I mean, one of one of the great Muay Thai
knees that we've seen in NFL history or NBA history, and.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
Karl Anthony, we took it to his growing that ain't work,
So let me come back and take it to your head.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
It does.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
It does feel like every playoffs there's always somebody who's
got to wear it, like somebody who wears it more
than anybody else when things are not going well. And
Karl Anthony Towns is the guy from Minnesota, and it
just this is one of those things to where you
just start to develop either a reputation or whatever you
want to call it. Look last year in the postseason
or Boston, Jalen Brown got it because he came up

(08:29):
small in Game seven against the Heat and then, as
you've seen, he's needed an entire playoff run after the
fact the next year to come back and kind of
prove So what remember discussion we had when Jalen Brown
got three hundred million dollars last year, like you can't
pay him after what he did in the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
It's like, okay, well here we are later though, Yeah, well.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
I wouldn't.

Speaker 5 (08:52):
I would not be upset if you benched both of them.
It's it, let's running gun and if we're gonna win
or lose this this next game, let's play our style
of ball. If you're gonna play on the perimeter, like
I'm gonna give you your opportunity, all right, go beart.
If you play like this little soft, little b word anymore,

(09:17):
if you let, if you let, if you let Luca
talk to you any old kind of way, and then
put you on skal ice skates that ain't sharpen and
have you all over the place, and they're calling you
the player of the year, benching, if your if your
Carl Anthony Townsend, you have pe before your your your

(09:40):
your your name. If you have pe cat you know
as a part of your acronym, you're coming to sit
with me on the bench.

Speaker 3 (09:51):
They were making the point afterwards that they would put
nas Reed in the starting lineup, and Draymond's point on
TNT was, if you put nas Read in the start lineup,
he's going to be the big guy on the perimeter
because that's where he's most effective. And it will, of course, yes,
and it would almost force Karl Anthony Towns inside.

Speaker 5 (10:09):
But Carl Anthony Towns only goes down low. He gets rebounds.
If you notice he gets like double digit rebounds. You
know where he gets all his rebounds on defense, when
they're on defense, it's on the defensive side. On the
defense side of the court. He does not get like

(10:29):
he doesn't get rebounds for the offense.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
He's too far away. He's too far away. Let me
tell you something.

Speaker 5 (10:36):
Nas, He's the reason why they're even like competitive in
the game. He's the only other one that's really contributed
outside outside of atwards. It's ridiculous to watch Go Bear tries.
Go Bear just looks like he's in slow motion. I
just don't understand how this dude is Defensive Player of
the Year. The way this team is making him look.

(10:58):
He looks like he is slow. Man tried to give
him a bounce pass. It hit him in his shin.
Like you're looking at him like this dude is good
for very little. Like I ain't gonna say nothing, but
he's good for very little. Every once in a while,
he's gonna be around that rim and he's going he's
gonna get on his tippy toes and he's going to
catch that ball and he's going to dunk the ball

(11:19):
on on like a tip rebound.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Want no play at least he knows what he does,
you know.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Like everyone's like people were killing Rudy Gobert because he
got torched by Luca in the closeout in game two
and it's like, well, you know, it's like and Kenny
Smith was making the point, like, man, there's two or
three guys.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
You don't want to be on an island with Lucas
one of them.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
And so Rudy Gobert got a bad matchup and he
was trying and he got beat.

Speaker 4 (11:44):
But at least he was trying.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
But at least he knows. But at least he knows.

Speaker 5 (11:48):
They've been doing him dirty. It's three games nothing, they've
been doing him dirty for three games.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
But he's not back. He's not back there shooting twenty
five footers.

Speaker 5 (11:57):
Hey, bruh. But but you're the defensive play. The qualification here,
the qualifier is you're the defensive player of the year, Rudy.
We need more defense from you, and we need you,
Carl Anthony Towns, to take your big ads down on
the block and.

Speaker 4 (12:14):
Be a big man.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Listen, be a big man.

Speaker 4 (12:16):
First, work your way out. Fifteen hundred shots, work your
way out.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
By the way I looked it up, Nazriet is six ' nine,
so he's within the qualification six tens above six ten
above six ten one three point attempt per half. That's
all you get if unless you're international. All right, if
you're international, you get a free pass. You can shoot
as many times as you want. But if I'm just

(12:41):
saying that's the rules here, Karl Anthony Town's four for
thirty two and has almost single handedly shot them out
of the series.

Speaker 5 (12:48):
So I mean they were winning, they were winning, and
he's about he's sitting out there like trying to hit that,
like nailing the Coffin three pointer and you miss.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
By the way, you see Travis Kelcey and Patrick Mahomes
are sitting on the sideline. Travis Kelsey had his glasses
on the entire time. He must have been annihilated.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
They might have.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
I mean, what do you think for him? You've sat
court side? What sort of what sort of lid liquors
are they bringing down court side?

Speaker 4 (13:19):
For you?

Speaker 5 (13:20):
Whatever you want, I'm LeVar Island out, you get whatever
you want.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
No, do you go to LeVar Islands when you're sitting courtside?

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Or is that I'm not judge you judging you?

Speaker 5 (13:31):
No, I mean I'm gonna get judged for Look, I'm
not belligerent and listen, if I'm gonna get I just
like to have a good time. You and I had
the missus. You know, Trisha's there. Everybody wants to flirt
with her. You know, people basketball players want to come
shake my hand like they want to get to know me,
but meanwhile they get to her.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
You know, it's all that. Yeah, you know what I mean.
But we have a good time.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Yeah, I hear you.

Speaker 5 (13:52):
We do have a good time. But that was when
I was in d C. You know, I've never gone
to a game here in l a h. I don't
pretend to be any type of an LA fan, not
an LA fan of the football teams or of the
basketball teams. I'm a loyalist. So you know, my teams
are in d C. My baseball teams are in d
C and in Pittsburgh. My football teams are in d C,

(14:15):
Pittsburgh and New York and everything else. You know, hockey
is the same thing. Like hockey everything really outside of
basketball and football, it's all Pittsburgh, like I only have.
Well that's not true, because the Caps are my team.
I probably am more of a Caps fan at this

(14:37):
point in my life than I am a Penns fan.
I'm really not, because they paid me a whole lot
more money than what Pittsburgh did.

Speaker 4 (14:45):
Pittsburgh made me, but DC made me. Pittsburgh raised me,
but DC.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Maybe if you were wondering what seats you're going to
have at a playoff game, called me a slut.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
Well, that's kind of I wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
I wouldn't worry about going to see a playoff game
for the Pirates or the Penguins or anything like that.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
It's not lately. Not lately.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
Yeah, not anytime soon most likely. Look, I got you know,
I got totally not. Also, so we've got the game
coming up later on tonight. The Celtics up three to
oh over the Indiana Pacers, and Rick Carlisle is not
happy about something. Now, if you're wondering what Rick Carlisle

(15:31):
has been up to this postseason, Rick Carlisle has been
complaining and crying a lot this postseason about certain things.
He cried about the Knicks and not getting fair treatment
by the officials, and apparently he's not none too pleased
with the fact that, you know, there was a trophy
presentation potentially being planned for after Game four there in
Indiana should the Pacers lose again and get swept by

(15:53):
the Celtics.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
So let's listen to the Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle.

Speaker 10 (15:56):
There's a plenty of reasons to be motivated for this
game tomorrow. You know, when you're when you're the head
coach of an NBA team, you tend to get information
on things. So one thing I just heard in the
last few minutes is that you know, the league is
is making logistical plans for a trophy presentation on our

(16:19):
floor tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
And so.

Speaker 10 (16:22):
That's something that you know, I think should make our
players blood boil and our fans blood boil. And uh,
it's just another layer of motivation to extend the series.

Speaker 4 (16:33):
Yeah, dumb, the dumb, dumb, dumb.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
You know what it was motivating for me, blown about
win the game.

Speaker 4 (16:40):
So it's not closed.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
Out blown an eighteen point leading the third and gagging
the game away.

Speaker 5 (16:47):
So are they not supposed to be logistically ready to
go when they sweep y'all?

Speaker 3 (16:51):
No, it's a it's a pop up shop.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
Like if you want to have a trophy celebration, they'll
just throw it together last minute. They'll get everything shipped
in and it's got to happen right after the class.

Speaker 5 (17:01):
I mean, come on, Carlisle, you know better than that.
That's ridiculous to say something like that out your mouth.
That's gonna get my blood boiling the players and the
fans like it should be boiling y'all in a closeout game.
The league has to be prepared because y'all answers don't
want to win no games.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
Do you know how?

Speaker 2 (17:20):
You know how bad you've really stepped at it when
you've got Knicks fans rooting for the Celtics because Carlisle's
complaining last round, Like, Bro, he I.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
Mean, he needs to stop that. You don't want to
be synonymous with that guy.

Speaker 5 (17:34):
You're gonna go down in history as one of the
dumbest complainers that's ever done it in the history of sports.
You're upset and you're complaining, and I'm a head coach.
We tend to get some logistical information that other guys
don't get. I found out that the league is planning
on doing a trophy ceremony.

Speaker 4 (17:53):
Hey, bro, it's game four, yes, and you're down three
to zero. Like, what exact would you like to hear
from the league going into Game four when you've.

Speaker 5 (18:04):
Shown absolutely no reason or any cause to think that
this is going beyond four games. Maybe even if you
did it's game four and you have yet the win one.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
Yeah, please make it make sense.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
It feels like there's some other things probably be a
little pissy about instead of whether or not they're setting
up a stage to hand out a trophy. And by
the way, he played for the Celtics. I think he's
he's been a part of, you know, championship teams before
in the past. He knows how this works. But you know,
not happy with the Indiana Pacers down.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
That was a bad move.

Speaker 5 (18:37):
I bet you if he could if he had that
in a podcast, I bet you he'd have had them
like like take that out. Yeah, let's edit that one out.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
I mean, if you think about it, Game one they
should have won and they gagged it away. Game three
they should have won, and they gagged that one away too.
So it's been two out of three been gagged by
Rick Carlile company. And so he's a little bit distraught
at this point.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
So there's that Well, maybe you can help him out, man.

Speaker 5 (19:01):
I give him a call during the break, man, get
console him, tell him to get a hold of himself,
because he's embarrassing himself and his family by saying Shenanigan
stuff like that. Well, I'll call it all right, you
will h do it Hammer.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
It is the Dan Patrick Show here on Fox Sports Radio,

Speaker 4 (20:33):
My dear Patrick.

Speaker 5 (20:35):
Cannons, each and every time you got them. Cannons inside joke, y'all.
Y'all got to listen to two pros and a cup
of Joe to get in on it.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
It's not that hard to figure out.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
Though, it really is.

Speaker 6 (21:01):
I stopped it when I figured it out.

Speaker 9 (21:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (21:04):
Yeah, you got happy when you figured it out, because
I like you got that right? Uh you you got
them cannons.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
It's the Dan Patrick Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
He's Lebar Arrington. I'm Jonas Knox coming up here. Less
than twenty minutes from now. We will close up shop
here on a Monday morning, a Memorial Day, with a
the other edition of You and and You out that'll
be yours here again. Yeah, listen three hours, Flies by Man,
Flies by Man.

Speaker 4 (21:36):
I'm gonna do it myself. I'll go shoot fifteen three pointers.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
Hell yeah, you got the time. Everybody's doing it nowadays.

Speaker 4 (21:43):
Everybody thought it.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
So so the Dallas Cowboys by themselves in an interesting
spot because you're looking around your backyard in your city.
You're like, hold on a second. So the Mavericks are
one game away from going to the.

Speaker 3 (22:02):
NBA Finals and get it.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
Yeah, you've got the Texas Rangers who just won a
World Series and he got the Dallas Stars, who were
in Edmonton for Game three coming up later on tonight
with a chance to go to the Stanley Cup Final.

Speaker 5 (22:20):
You got a megastar quarterback going into a sophomore season
in Houston.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
Yeah, and you're just kind of looking around going, you know,
one of these things is not like the other.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
And the Dallas Cowboys find themselves in a spot to
where you know, they're not not performing to the level
of everybody else in town. And so Dak Prescott was
asked about how he felt about the Cowboys and they're,
you know, just sort of performance in comparison to the

(22:51):
Stars and the Mavericks and the Rangers.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
And here was Dak.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
Here was Dak talking about the situation there and with
the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 14 (22:59):
It's I'm not jealousy before it fires you up. Yeah,
one hundred percent. I think any competitor should, damn sure
in my position leader of the team, understanding what went
winning means here, not getting it done, and then watching
your brothers, you say across the city going making things happen,
I'm nobody.

Speaker 4 (23:18):
I want it.

Speaker 14 (23:18):
I want it for him, trust me, I want it
because it only, as I said, it only raises stakes
and and makes makes it tougher on me. And I'm
for that, and so go in it.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
Go in it.

Speaker 14 (23:26):
Rangers did it the other two, Go do it and
put more pressure on us.

Speaker 5 (23:31):
Hey, you know what's even more interesting. You won't have
some insult to injury. What did you say earlier? Kelsey?

Speaker 4 (23:38):
And who was that?

Speaker 8 (23:39):
What?

Speaker 3 (23:40):
Game?

Speaker 4 (23:41):
Dapping up? Who?

Speaker 3 (23:43):
Luca? Everybody else?

Speaker 5 (23:44):
Hey, not even Dak in your house, in your perceived house.
You got Patrick Mahomes out here because he's a Texas
tech guy. I get it. But but let's be clear.
The man himself is in the building in Dallas dapping
up Luca and they dapping you like if I'm Luca

(24:06):
and I'm carry I'm like, I ain't dapping you, my guy.

Speaker 4 (24:09):
DA's my guy, DA's my guy. Where's Dak? I'm dapping Dak.
I'm not dapping you. No, they dappening. They dappening right
on the comfortable But.

Speaker 5 (24:19):
Big dat big dap, big, big, big giant dats Like
we dap into the goat.

Speaker 4 (24:26):
We're trying to be goats. I am going to be
a goat. I'm an MVP, You're an MVP. Let's have it.
Let's all have it.

Speaker 15 (24:33):
But do you think it makes seem a little bit
more because don't even make more than all of those
guys that that that stars on the other teams.

Speaker 3 (24:41):
Well no, I mean DAK that don't make more than
my home now.

Speaker 6 (24:45):
No, no, no, all the stars of the Dallas area.

Speaker 15 (24:48):
Oh, who's the highest paid Dallas star in the whole city.

Speaker 5 (24:54):
Though?

Speaker 4 (24:55):
Yeah, that is up.

Speaker 6 (24:56):
Actually, yeah, you can't be over to dapping people make
less money than me.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
Actually it's it's it's Jerry Jones I believe makes more money,
you know. But the amazing part the Lee's got an
update on most highest paid Dallas athletes.

Speaker 11 (25:11):
Right ahead of Luca is Max Schureser forty three billion.

Speaker 4 (25:17):
Baseball.

Speaker 6 (25:17):
We don't say his name in the true why not?

Speaker 11 (25:20):
It goes Max Sureser, Luca, Jacob de Gram and then Kyrie.

Speaker 6 (25:25):
Dang Kyrie.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
Kyrie getting paid.

Speaker 11 (25:31):
Here's here's DAK sixth.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
Yeah, so here's the part that here's the part that's
the part that's great about the DAK Cowboys where they
find so Yeah, the Mavericks are one game away from
the NBA Finals. The Stars are a couple of games
away potentially going to a Stanley Cup final. The Rangers
just won a World Series. All of that is great,

(25:54):
and the Cowboys haven't sniffed a Super Bowl in thirty years,
and it doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
They're the team of that town. Like it doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
They could roll out a three game bag of crap
next year, three wins for the Cowboys next year, they'll
still be the talk.

Speaker 4 (26:08):
It's true. But here's the problem.

Speaker 5 (26:11):
The problem is that you can't take one and make
it into the other. You can't take the other and
make it into that one. The one thing that we're
talking about right here, right now is what Dak Prescott game. Well,
Dak Prescott is feeling, and what he's feeling is pressure.
Now here's what's crazy about this, right It's more of

(26:34):
an egotistical thing that's that's driving this because he's made
his money and if it doesn't work out, he still
will be commanding top dollar on the open market if
they were to let him go.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
So he's kind of in a win win situation here.

Speaker 5 (26:55):
If I win in Dallas, I get a new contract,
everything works out.

Speaker 4 (26:58):
We keep it, keep it. I could keep it moving.

Speaker 5 (27:01):
But if I come up short and I don't play
the way I'm supposed to play, who's going to be
a higher prospect than me on the on the open market.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
Look, even if they come up short. Look they've come
up short every year he's been there, and he's still
put up pretty good numbers.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
Last year he was good. Last year, Dak Prescott, he's
gonna get paid.

Speaker 4 (27:18):
He's good.

Speaker 5 (27:19):
Listen, it's all relative because some people call it garbage
time points, there's there's I mean, not all of it
was garbage. He's played at times, but he's just never
really delivered in the moment that really really mattered the most,
which is in the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (27:35):
So to me, this is a big year for Dak Prescott.

Speaker 5 (27:41):
But with that being said, back to your original point,
this does nothing to deter the vastly big, loyal, exuberant
fan base of the Dallas Cowboys, because they're always looking
for the next opportunity to say, here.

Speaker 4 (28:01):
We go, boys, this is our year.

Speaker 5 (28:03):
We're gonna be good, right, Whereas Dak Prescott may have
to move on based upon what's going on this whatever
happens this season will have no bearing on the popularity.
As you mentioned, no bearing whatsoever on the popularity of
the Dallas Cowboys, because.

Speaker 4 (28:21):
They are too much of a storyline that just.

Speaker 5 (28:24):
Continues to keep giving, and you don't have an owner
when you have ownership, which you can look at a
lot of people have made it about the ownership being
the reason why this team can't get over the hump,
and they're probably right, but it's not an egregious deal.
With the Jones family, they have a love relationship with

(28:48):
their fan base. The fan base loves Jerry Jones. They
subscribe to how Jerry Jones is. He seemingly keeps it
super real, shoots from the hip. People fool with Jerry Jones.
If you have an organization like let's just say, for example,
the Washington Commanders now and when they were the Redskins,

(29:08):
Dan Snyder had the team. Dan Snyder not only ran
the team in the organization into the ground, he ran
the fan base away. He decentralized the fan base. Jerry
Jones is a master advertiser, does not run his his
fan base away and invites them and DearS them, keeps

(29:30):
them engaged, does other things that are amazing.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
Boxing matches, monster truck deals, you name it. He does
all kinds of stuff.

Speaker 5 (29:40):
Come on, man, Come on, man, Jerry Jones master, Come on,
Come on, man, and they party on that bus too.
They party on that bus. Ain't nothing going on with
the Dallas Cowboys. But but the weather, that's it. Yeah,
all it is is the weather changing from day to day.
But Dak Prescott, his surroundings may change.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
That's fine.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
He may end up somewhere different.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
He could.

Speaker 2 (30:06):
And that's why the way the Cowboys have this structured,
it's almost like it's a snowball effect because you're gonna
watch this year because you're like, Okay, this could be
it for Dak Presscott and Mike McCarthy. If they don't
get a contract redone, they can't franchise him afterwards.

Speaker 3 (30:19):
So this could be it for Dak, for Mike McCarthy.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
It could be the final righte of this era, you know,
the twenty sixteen draft class that's led into this, and
people will.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
Get happy about it. Oh yeah, but let those fans
will be happy, like, no, it's a new start.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
But it's a storyline that everyone's gonna follow and watch,
and then if things go poorly, then they're gonna have
a bunch of new people there and guess what's gonna happen.
They're all gonna watch that storyline. Now, all right, Finally,
Dak's gone. Everybody's gone, problem solved right, like it just
continues on and it's been like this for thirty years
and they've got nothing to show for it, no conference

(30:53):
championship game appearances, nothing, and everybody else in town is
doing legitimate, big things in their sport and it doesn't matter,
it does not matter. They will be the lead, They
are the story. They are the standard in that town.
And for all the criticism we want to give Jerry
Jones and all the dude his the way he is

(31:16):
marketed and the way he's branded, as you pointed out,
has been brilliant.

Speaker 5 (31:20):
Because it could have ruined it. Oh, I mean, Dan Snider,
Dan Snyder ruined every I know. Jack Cook is rolling
in his draft. He rolling in his grave somewhere. This
man undid everything I did to build this, this organization
to be represented and as as valuable as as it

(31:40):
was when he took over it. And you know what,
then then messed it up like seemingly unmess upable type
of scenario, unmess upable like that, and he screwed it
for a living.

Speaker 4 (31:55):
He screwed that as up screwed it right on.

Speaker 12 (31:57):
Up?

Speaker 6 (31:58):
Hey can Dak afford to miss Ota.

Speaker 4 (32:01):
Yes, Dak is in the driver's seat.

Speaker 5 (32:04):
Dak is in the driver's seat, like I said, because
he will be the most coveted free agent. There's gonna
be a coach or two out there and a GM
out there that says it wasn't Dak. There's at least
one or two of them out there that will sit
there and say it wasn't that, and they'll pay them.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
And they're also gonna they're gonna justify to themselves by saying, look,
he's a good quarterback, and you know, maybe he just
needs to get away from.

Speaker 5 (32:27):
The distraction in the up in Pittsburgh. You know, let's
just keep the party going on.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
Let me tell you something, would you not feel would
you not feel more optimistic about the Steelers if Dak
was their quarterback this year?

Speaker 5 (32:37):
I ain't gonna lie. I would, hell I would. I
would definitely would.

Speaker 6 (32:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
So he's got all the leverage, he's got all the
everything is pointing.

Speaker 5 (32:45):
In why I think he's a better quarterback than definitely
Russell Wilson. I think he I think he has more
potential than Russell Wilson, and he's a better quarterback than
justin fields today.

Speaker 15 (33:00):
We don't question is his ability or his ability question
he can't finish.

Speaker 4 (33:09):
Yeah, but you put him.

Speaker 5 (33:10):
Listen, I'm gonna say this to Dak's defense, there was
no defense and my baby boy, happy birthday to you, Micah.
The defense they were some scrubs against green Bay.

Speaker 4 (33:26):
They were some scrubs.

Speaker 5 (33:27):
It was not I would not sit there and say
I'm putting that loss on on Dallas's offense in the
playoffs last season, it was actually down the stretch.

Speaker 3 (33:40):
And by and by the time and by the time.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
I'm talking hospital scrub and by.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
The time, you know, Dallas was starting to you know,
put up any points to get any momentum. I think
Jake Ferguson had a big game as well too. It
was already over because green Bay had been running it
up on him for hours.

Speaker 3 (33:57):
Like it was over.

Speaker 2 (33:58):
So I just I look at I go, DA's got
all the leverage in the world hospital and as far
as leverage in that town. The Cowboys got it all too.
Like Jerry Jones can do whatever the hell he wants.

you might hear the ice cream truck. You guys, enter
out on the ice cream truck in Woden at the
ice cream truck.

Speaker 4 (36:23):
Are you in on strawberry shortcake dip, so.

Speaker 2 (36:30):
They don't have it anymore, which is unfortunate. Remember those
WWF ice cream bars those were just tremendous.

Speaker 4 (36:37):
Don't remember that?

Speaker 3 (36:38):
Oh they were so good, They were so good, They
were so good. Man, you people, man, let.

Speaker 4 (36:42):
Me tellte Oh wow, what do you mean.

Speaker 2 (36:45):
You guys trying to dismiss WWF ice cream bars?

Speaker 4 (36:51):
That is a.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
Like Lee's just shaking his head. No, like never never
heard of it either, like, what's wrong with you guys?

Speaker 8 (36:59):
That?

Speaker 2 (36:59):
Or there's also the like the push pops. You know
those push pops because the cornball well, because they keep
it nice and clean.

Speaker 3 (37:08):
You know, you don't have to worry about stuff melting.

Speaker 4 (37:09):
Little cornball. That that was the biggest out out on you.

Speaker 6 (37:14):
No do you guys? U don't has had money when
he went to the clearly really?

Speaker 4 (37:20):
Yeah, of course he's paying with credit cards.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
Let me tell you something, if you got money, you
don't see an ice cream truck in your neighborhood.

Speaker 4 (37:27):
I can s's up post.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
They don't have the gate code. Yeah, not happening.

Speaker 11 (37:33):
Do you guys call it drumsticks or King's Cone?

Speaker 3 (37:36):
Drumsticks? Drum sticks?

Speaker 4 (37:38):
Yeah, Kings I don't know what I call them.

Speaker 6 (37:41):
I just the one with the nuts on top.

Speaker 4 (37:43):
Yeah, thats what.

Speaker 3 (37:45):
You Yeah, the one with the nuts on top, kings
exact King's cone. What are you talking about?

Speaker 4 (37:52):
That's what they're called.

Speaker 11 (37:55):
Calls the King's Cone.

Speaker 4 (37:55):
I don't call them that.

Speaker 5 (37:57):
You just oh my gosh, I'm out out moving.

Speaker 11 (38:02):
On elimination game in the NBA tonight.

Speaker 13 (38:07):
He guys enter out on Pacers Celtics and we just.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
Get it over with.

Speaker 4 (38:11):
Yes, please move on.

Speaker 3 (38:13):
Let's just let's get this going.

Speaker 4 (38:15):
Let's car allow handles. They'll get their trophy tonight.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
They'll be destroyed and very upset about that.

Speaker 13 (38:22):
Meanwhile, we have a game three in the NHL Stanley
Cup Playoffs between the Dallas Stars and the Edmonton Oilers.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
Like I don't it's not part because you know, the
NBA is going every other night, but I just wish
these were on separate nights, or at least stagger them
a little bit, like figure out some way or put
them on earlier, because if it's hard to really focus
on the NBA game when you got the NHL game
going on, and vice versa, so it kind of makes
it a little bit difficult to choose. So I'm in

(38:50):
on obviously the Stanley Cup playoffs, but I'm out on
this game.

Speaker 3 (38:54):
So I'm gonna be watching the Celtics game.

Speaker 13 (38:56):
So one thing we know, Britty Quinn is in a
is the college Lacrosse National Championship between Maryland and Notre Dame.

Speaker 6 (39:04):
Tonight.

Speaker 11 (39:05):
Let's go ter Well, not tonight, it's actually noon today.

Speaker 4 (39:08):
I mean, I'm a you know, let's go Terps.

Speaker 5 (39:10):
I'm a former Washington god d m B guy, So
let's go Terps.

Speaker 3 (39:14):
Yeah, hell yeah?

Speaker 4 (39:15):
And it's the Big Ten.

Speaker 3 (39:17):
So yeah, screw Brady.

Speaker 4 (39:19):
I don't want to.

Speaker 5 (39:19):
Here against I don't want here against q per Se,
why not or Notre Day because I'm a fan of
Notre Dame. But but yeah i am. I am a
fan of the Golden Domers. I'm a traditionalist, you know,
I went to Penn State. Hello, but yeah, I'm I'm
I'm going with the Terps.

Speaker 4 (39:35):
Though, what what else you got lead today? Guys?

Speaker 11 (39:40):
I don't know if I'm in or out on this
House of Horror.

Speaker 4 (39:43):
Secrets of Horror?

Speaker 3 (39:45):
What he depends on who's working?

Speaker 7 (39:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (39:47):
God, Lee? What what what are you Sayingrow?

Speaker 11 (39:51):
When we going houses of horror?

Speaker 13 (39:54):
Oh, Secrets of College Greek Life looks at the world
campus life through first person.

Speaker 11 (40:02):
That exposed how extreme hazing.

Speaker 4 (40:04):
And a bunch of other a bunch of other things.

Speaker 13 (40:07):
Sexual assault, drug use, systemic racism are able to persist
when these groups are built on exclusivity.

Speaker 4 (40:17):
Houses.

Speaker 5 (40:18):
I have no idea why the hell this was a
topic in this this segment, but so far out on that.

Speaker 3 (40:28):
I'm out as well too as well. Yeah, I'm not interested.

Speaker 13 (40:37):
Something to watch, well, something I know you're in on
Jonas's Natural Sunscreen Day.

Speaker 3 (40:42):
Oh I got to Yeah.

Speaker 4 (40:44):
I don't need that. I got natural suns. Yeah, I
got that.

Speaker 2 (40:49):
Some sun I don't. I don't absorb. The lights are
too bright the studio. I get to burn, like I
I am pasty as pasty.

Speaker 4 (41:00):
Yeah, I don't burn. I just I just walk in it,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (41:04):
I look like a damn paper towel.

Speaker 5 (41:06):
Like it's it's just because you're a vampire. Everybody might
not know that you're you know, you're a vampire.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
Yeah, but even like it's not even like there could
be cloud cover and I could walk outside to play
catch up my son for fifteen minutes and I get color,
like I get burnt and it's not good color.

Speaker 3 (41:20):
It's burnt.

Speaker 2 (41:21):
Like I don't go, I don't There is no like, hey,
you know, you look like you've gotten a little bit
of sun. It's like, dude, like did you fall asleep
on a frying pan? Like it looks terrible and uh,
that's just my plight.

Speaker 3 (41:32):
That's that's what I gotta work with. It's all right.
I'm not gonna be judged.

Speaker 4 (41:35):
For it either. Okay, I could dig it.

Speaker 2 (41:37):
And I think kind of the way you bragged about
not needing sunscreen was a little bit hurtful of stuff.

Speaker 4 (41:41):
That's all good man.

Speaker 5 (41:42):
You know, some of us just don't need all that
type of protection going on.

Speaker 4 (41:45):
I mean, you people people cannons. We all need some cannons.

Speaker 3 (41:54):
It's been fun. Thanks ragging out with us.

Speaker 2 (41:56):
We'll be on two pros tomorrow morning, six am Eastern
time right here of us.
