Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio Final Hour.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
In this Tuesday, Big Sean Bomb, Robert or seven time
NBA champ will stop by. He covers the Lakers, get
his thoughts on who's the next head coach? Is it
jj Reddick waiting for the NBA Finals to end before
he takes the job certainly feels that way. And what's
he think the Lakers are going to do with that

(00:25):
first round pick? We had James Worthy on yesterday and
I said, look, they had that seventeenth pick overall. You
want to have Lebron's stay, get an extension. What better
way to say, Lebron, we're going to take care of you,
and we're going to sign your son. We're going to
draft your son seventeenth overall. And James Worthy said, yes,

(00:46):
he could see that happening.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Yes, Marv is going to be a big issue if
the twentieth pick becomes a rookie of the year.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Well, we've seen that in recent drafts where you get
somebody around thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, maybe even a second rounder.
Maybe you get a Donovan Mitchell in there, Greek freak
in there. Maybe wait till the second round and you
get the joker. Oh boy, anybody who's taken after Brawny.
If that were the case, you're going to have people go.

(01:17):
Lakers could have had him. The Lakers could have had
him all right. Eight seven seven to three. DP show

The Padres infielder Tukapita Marcano has been banned from baseball
for gambling. According to MLB, he won, actually he had
two hundred and thirty one baseball related bets. He won

(01:41):
just over four percent of the two hundred and thirty
one baseball related bets. So he was betting on his
own team twenty five times. But baseball has banned him. Now,
they don't say for life. I don't think. I don't
see it. It just says banned, banned for baseball for gambling.

(02:02):
And I don't know if this is semantics here. Johntay
Porter the NBA said, you know that he had been banned.
Is it a permanent, band lifetime ban?

Speaker 4 (02:12):
All of those things?

Speaker 2 (02:13):
And I think when we got ahold of the NBA,
they said he will not be playing in the NBA again.
I'm like, well, just put that in the press release.
He's banned for life, permanently, whatever it might be, all right,
Seaton final hour poll question is is going to be what?

Speaker 5 (02:29):
Yeah, we got two of them up there right now,
We have got would you rather be an NBA sixth
man or a sitcom act? There right now? Fifty eight
percent of the audience have the six man. Okay, I
think so that's basically saying they would rather be Big
Shot Bob than.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
Ed O'Neil modern family.

Speaker 5 (02:46):
Right, And would you rather sit courtside at the NBA
Finals or on the glass at the Stanley Cup right now?
Fifty to fifty right down the middle, perfect poll.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
Yes, okay, I've done both, and I'm to tell the
NBA fans you want to be on the glass for
a Stanley Cup final. You want that it'll be a
different experience than any other sporting event you've been to.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
We say good morning.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
If you're watching on Peacock, thank you for downloading the
app and those listening on our radio affiliates around the country.
So we'll talk to Big Shot Bob or he'll join
us coming up Seatan is bothered by something today and
you'd be more specific. Okay, you came in and you
said you know, the Florida Panthers. Yes, that's not fair.

(03:33):
You can't take a whole state. I don't Yeah, Texas Rangers,
that's not fair. Take a city, New England Patriots. They
took states, multiple sportable. The hell is that they took
a region. Now granted those states don't have a lot
going on, but can't take the whole region. I just
I feel like part.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
Of uh being a sports fan is a certain amount
of civic pride. It's like, no, yeah, this is our
team from art to those are our boys. You know,
those are our players going out and representing where we
are from our home. Okay, I have a I don't
like if it's like, what about the other teams in Florida.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
I don't root for that. Those guys so like Tampa, Yeah,
I mean Florida, Florida. They're from Sunrise, Florida. Yeah, so
be the Sunrise Panthers. That's right, that's awesome.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
It feels like people go to Florida that they're kind
of in the sunset of their lives.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
So yeah, but who they want to see one more sunrise,
don't they?

Speaker 4 (04:34):
They sure do.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
The sun always rises on our Panthers don't want it
to set.

Speaker 6 (04:39):
Yes, Paul, since you open that up, I think I'm
lightly bothered by the Carolina Panthers, thank you. They don't
own both states now. I know they want to be
the football team of both states, which I think probably
smart marketing, but it shouldn't be the North Carolina Panthers
or Charlotte Panthers or Charlotte Panthers. Yeah, if I'm in
South Carolina, am I bothered by that? I think I'm bothered.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
No, because South Carolina they don't have any South Carolina
colors in their colors. They have Carolina blue. So I
don't think South Carolina goes those are our Carolina Panthers.

Speaker 6 (05:10):
Okay, so they don't really associate.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
I don't think so. I wouldn't.

Speaker 6 (05:14):
You're South Carolina.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
I think South Carolina only cares about the game Cocks, right,
I think the college.

Speaker 6 (05:20):
Maybe the Atlanta Falcons a bit because maybe maybe maybe.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
Yeah, any other things that are bothering you.

Speaker 6 (05:28):
The Arizona Cardinals used to be the Phoenix Cardinals. Yeah,
and then they changed to Arizona.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Okay, how would you feel if you're the Dodgers? You
get LA but then the Angels come in and say
we got California.

Speaker 6 (05:38):
They were California Angels for a long time.

Speaker 5 (05:39):
It was a Padres fan. You're like, uh no, you
don't Giants fan or giants you don't. Yeah, but they
took it. They said we're the California Angels.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
Yeah they did wrong. Yeah, yes, Ton.

Speaker 7 (05:51):
And then they became the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim,
which was ridiculous too ever named that long.

Speaker 8 (05:56):
Yeah, the.

Speaker 6 (05:59):
D and low just mean the same thing. Los Angeles
Angels and Angels means the same thing. So it's redundant
twice in the name the Los Angeles Angels, which is
the Angel's Angel by the way, Yes, Mark.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
So everyone should follow the Florida Florida Marlins. Now they're
the Miami Marlins. Yeah, because Tampa Bay was like, wait,
you guys don't represent Florida. You guys barely represent Miami.
People don't even go to see you.

Speaker 8 (06:24):
Guys.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
They shouldn't let you take a state a state. Yeah,
they should just be the Midwest Chiefs. Then just take
it all of it, just take it over. We're actually
so big right now, We're just take it. We're just
kind of call ourselves the Midwest Chief, Yes, Todd.

Speaker 7 (06:35):
Why did the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim become the Anaheim
Ducks because it was too silly and childish? If you
called it not in the first place, then why did
you not stick with it?

Speaker 4 (06:43):
And you mean they dropped the Mighty they're just the.

Speaker 7 (06:45):
Anaheim Ducks, but they were the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim
to start.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Oh, I don't know, but they're named after a movie
they are, Yeah, yes, Paul.

Speaker 6 (06:53):
It was the Philadelphia Warriors basketball team. They moved to
San Francisco in nineteen sixty two. From sixty two to
seventy one, they were the San Francisco Warriors, and then
for some reason they changed to the Golden State Warriors. Okay,
anyone know why?

Speaker 5 (07:06):
I don't know, but it's way cooler. It sounds better.

Speaker 6 (07:08):
Is it cooler because they won lately?

Speaker 4 (07:10):
No, I think it's pretty good. You got the Golden
gate Bridge there.

Speaker 6 (07:14):
But the Golden State Warriors.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
No, I mean, they did take over the state without
saying they're taking over the state.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
Did it in a more appropriate way.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
They did it in a classy way, a stylish kind
of backdoor.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
Well we like that one.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
Yeah, Golden State. Okay, Golden state of mind. Yes, tom So,
if they.

Speaker 7 (07:30):
Were the Sunshine State Panthers, how do we feel about that?
In the Stanley Cup Final? The Sunshine State Panthers.

Speaker 5 (07:37):
It's a fair point.

Speaker 4 (07:38):
I think I like it better than the Florida Panthers.

Speaker 5 (07:40):
Yeah, the Garden State Devils like m.

Speaker 6 (07:44):
Okay, maybe Texas Rangers. Are they the team of Texas?

Speaker 2 (07:47):
How about the Manhattan Rangers? They're the New York Rangers.
Didn't we take over a state?

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Hello, hello, lame men, Although.

Speaker 5 (07:57):
In New York you could at least get away like, oh,
we just tr the city.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
It's New York City. Yeah, we just dropped the city, Yes,
Tod Could.

Speaker 7 (08:04):
You say the Empire State Nets or any New York teament?
Would that be cools calling them the Empire State that team?

Speaker 8 (08:11):
I don't know if that's great.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (08:12):
They play in Brooklyn, but then the Brooklyn Nets went
with a borough, not even a city or state.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Yeah, it's awesome, but I'm okay with that. Yeah, I
like the little territorial feel to it. Yes, Marv.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
So that means the New Jersey Jets in the New
Jersey Giants they should be They don't play in New
York no, they don't, nor did. They don't practice in there.
They don't hang out there.

Speaker 4 (08:35):
Did you see where?

Speaker 8 (08:35):
CJ.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
Stroud, who's been on a heaters of late, he gave
us his top five quarterbacks, including himself in the NFL.
But he was also asked would he rather have Eli
Manning's career or Aaron Rodgers' career? You guys want to
guess whose career would he rather have? Eli Manning or
Aaron Rodgers? Todd, Eli Manning, Seaton all day, Eli Manning,

(08:59):
Marvli Paul Eli is yeah, close, Well but wait, Eli's
got two yep. Rodgers has one, plus he has a
boatload of MVPs as well.

Speaker 5 (09:13):
Eli beat the Patriots twice in mid dynasty.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
They did.

Speaker 5 (09:18):
He actually is the reason the dynasty was broken up.
That there's book at one of the reasons. One of
the reasons. Oh sorry, I thought quarterback was the most
important position. I guess I'm not necessarily on the Giants. No,
I would say their defensive line was more important. I
saw him scrambling, Oh you did. He was in the grass.
He was in the grass. I saw him in the grass,

(09:39):
and then somehow get out, Yes.

Speaker 7 (09:40):
Todd, and you got the immunized thing in the ayahuasca
and some of that weirdness on top of that.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
I don't think we're including no, but I'm just saying
that makes me all the more. But that's not part
of what he's signing up for. It's just the football
part of this. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (09:55):
Yeah, Eli was the number one pick of the draft,
and you could say his regular season career was underwhelming,
his postseason career was awesome and got him in going
to get him the Hall of Fame. Yeah, you could
also make the case at Aaron Rodgers. When you look
at the totality of it, you're like, won super Bowl.
That's the first reaction and it's not fair to him,
but it's the reaction.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
Well, you can't be the most talented player at that
position in a lot of people's eyes in the history
of the game and you have won Super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (10:23):
I mean he has MVPs.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
Has he backed up being the most talented quarterback in
some people's eyes?

Speaker 4 (10:32):
I don't think he has.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
But how many times have we had analysts go, you know, well, Rogers,
you know, he might be the most talented quarterbacks he's
ever played the position. Okay, and the Super Bowl was
what fourteen years ago. So when's his last MVP. That
was probably four years ago.

Speaker 6 (10:52):
Yeah, twenty twenty one season.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
Yeah, yes, Mars Probably.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
I think Patrick Mahomes is what Aaron Rodgers should have
been because he won his Super Bowl pretty early on. Okay,
and I'm sure sports Talk radio the day after how
many super Bowls as Aaron Rodgers is gonna win because
he's probably twenty five or twenty six years old entering
his prime. So I think it's a level of disappointment
even though he's an all timer. It's probably like, ah

(11:19):
he could have had this.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
But it feels like Mahomes is going to be recognized
as the most talented quarterback who's played the position until
the next quarterback comes along. So it feels like Mahomes
has taken that away from Rodgers and he's backed it
up with winning more Super Bowls. Maybe not, he's not
gonna have as many MVPs, but yes, Mark.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
And also Aaron Rodgers has a ton Packers have a
bunch of home playoff losses too. I think he's maybe
yeh one in three, one in four in NFC championship games,
and a bunch of really bad losses at home.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
Is Aaron Rodgers. The Atlanta Braves from the mid nineties
fair a lot of talent. One World Series.

Speaker 6 (12:02):
Yeah, Paul Rogers could even use that Peyton Manning second
super Bowl that he's not responsible for. Yeah, Peyton got
a second and people forget how what of a lack
of a role he played in that win and that season.
But if Rogers even has helped to a super Bowl
the team around him two looks great.

Speaker 4 (12:19):
I don't think.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
I mean, he's going to get far more credit with
the Jets, but he's going to have to play great.
Denver almost won in spite of Peyton Manning at times
because he was didn't have an arm. They had a
really good defense there. But yeah, Aaron Rodgers, if the
Jets win, Aaron Rodgers is going to get a whole
lot of credit, and probably rightfully.

Speaker 6 (12:40):
So yes, time to think you're referring to the no
fly zone in Denver.

Speaker 8 (12:43):
Yeah, when you talk about the.

Speaker 4 (12:44):
Defense, thank you, Ton, thank you. Uh let me see.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
Oh, by the way, so it's mandatory mini camp ten
teams Dolphins, Texans, Colts, Titans, Coumpoys, Eagles, Bears, Lines, Vikings
and forty nine ers. Can we play the mandatory Mini
camp of course. Okay, now this isn't OTA.

Speaker 6 (13:06):
Now it is part of the OTA schedule.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
Yeah, but this is mandatory mini camp.

Speaker 6 (13:10):
There's a difference Session three. Okay, So the teams who
are in mandatory mini camp right now, that list you
just gave, you know, the team you would pick of
this list to make the Super Bowl?

Speaker 4 (13:22):
I would pick the forty nine.

Speaker 7 (13:24):
Ers and when I got.

Speaker 6 (13:27):
Off the board, Eagles. Okay, it's not authoritative.

Speaker 5 (13:32):
Forty nine ers are really the one that jump out there.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
Huh yeah.

Speaker 5 (13:35):
Kind of tough to not go with them.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
What about you, Mark, go.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Forty nine ers?

Speaker 4 (13:40):
Oh yeah, you have to take to the nine ers after. Okay.

Speaker 6 (13:43):
The team of this list that will greatly disappoint this season.

Speaker 5 (13:47):
I mean, see there's someone here. It's like, uh, which mood?
Do you catch me? And do I feel like being mean?
Or well that's how we kind of recognize you. Yeah,
oh that's true.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (14:00):
The Lions, Oh okay, that's not nice.

Speaker 7 (14:05):
Todd had Detroit as well. I think they're gonna slide.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
They're gonna greatly disappoint. Can they get back to the
NFC title Game? No?

Speaker 5 (14:18):
If the Dolphins underperformer you're gonna be disappointed.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
I don't know what's disappointing for the Dolphins. If you
don't make the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (14:27):
That would be disappointing. Yeah, the Patriots think, I mean, hmm.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
I'm gonna say the Texans. Okay, I know that's everyone
loves that.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
I know, I know, all right.

Speaker 6 (14:41):
A couple more right, the team of this list that
has an MVP on the roster offense or defense.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
Oh, I'm gonna say the Cowboys with Dak Prescott. I'm
just doing that for clicks. That's all that was phony.

Speaker 6 (15:06):
How about c J.

Speaker 8 (15:07):
Stroud?

Speaker 4 (15:08):
No, because they're going to disappoint.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
About the Dolphins. Have you guys seen Tua? He looks
like he's Wana, not Tua.

Speaker 4 (15:17):
What are you trying to walk off?

Speaker 8 (15:20):
Right?

Speaker 2 (15:20):
And I was gonna walk on and I got big
shot Bob Or coming up.

Speaker 4 (15:25):
Have you seen Tua? He is slim?

Speaker 2 (15:28):
You see Mac mac Jones, he's big Mac Joe, big Mac,
super Mac Joe.

Speaker 6 (15:33):
Looks healthy but heavy, mellow heavy Mac won a title uncompany.

Speaker 4 (15:36):
Yeah he did. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
I think he looked like that when he was at Alabama. Yeah, yeah,
I like that. Okay, we're gonna take a break. I
got big shot bomb. So more to the mandatory mini
camp quiz with just these ten teams will.

Speaker 4 (15:51):
Take a break. We're back after this Dan Patrick show.

I'm looking at current odds. NBA Finals opens up on
Thursday night in Boston. Current odds suggest almost a sixty
nine percent chance the Celtics win this series. Jason Tatum
is the odds unfavored for MVP. Followed by Luka, Doncic,
Jalen Brown, and then Kyrie Irving. Robert Rory, seven time

Speaker 4 (17:21):
When's the last time you placed a bet?

Speaker 11 (17:24):
Uh?

Speaker 8 (17:26):
Professionally with one of my friends?

Speaker 4 (17:29):
Either one?

Speaker 8 (17:30):
I think.

Speaker 12 (17:33):
For the for the last round Dallas versus Minnesota and
I lost.

Speaker 4 (17:39):
Oh you took Minnesota?

Speaker 12 (17:41):
Yeah, Medfa and Patrick Kelly. He took Dallas first, so
I had no choice but to take Minnesota. So he said,
I got Dallas, I still can take Minnesota. But you know,
so were you?

Speaker 2 (17:51):
Were you buying into the Anthony Edwards Michael Jordan comparisons
or at least uh there's similarities in their games.

Speaker 12 (17:59):
I think the explosiveness is pretty much the only similarity.
I think Anthony Edwards hasn't learned that the mid range
like MJ. You know, everybody wants to talk about shooting threes.
The MJ average thirty points, not you know, not shooting
threes average forty. I think one time in the finals
and then shoot threes. So I think people get so
caught up in shooting threes. And I think Anthony Edwards,

(18:19):
you know, when you watch him play against Denver Nuggets,
he did everything, but against Dallas he's.

Speaker 8 (18:25):
Settled for threes.

Speaker 12 (18:25):
I don't know it's because of the link that the
Dallas Mavericks had, but I still I don't I see
the explosively. But as far as one to comparing the two,
he's after awards, that's MJ.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
Well, the only guy who's close is Kobe.

Speaker 8 (18:38):
He was the only guy who was close right by far,
you know.

Speaker 12 (18:42):
And that's and I always I get amazed that nobody
ever talks about Kobe being the goat. But he copied
HMJ to a t, you know what I mean. And
for me to sit back and say, you know, Anthony Dwis,
he's still young.

Speaker 4 (18:53):
He's wait, would you take Kobe over Mike?

Speaker 12 (18:57):
You know what I played with Kobe, So I know,
I don't know Mike. I just met Mike. You know,
cross I'll take Kobe because I won three championships with Kobe.

Speaker 8 (19:05):
I had to take Kobe.

Speaker 4 (19:07):
Well, you don't want to get Mike upset?

Speaker 8 (19:11):
Well, he didn't put me on the MJ brand. So
he gets upset, so be it.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
But did you ever find yourself guarding him?

Speaker 12 (19:20):
I have a picture in my in my room where
I got my jersey hung up him blowing by me.
But then I got a picture next to it when
I'm blocking his shot. So yeah, I have MJ in
my memorial room over there.

Speaker 4 (19:33):
Now you didn't. You wouldn't ask him to sign that,
would you?

Speaker 8 (19:37):
Which one blow by the block?

Speaker 3 (19:39):
Well?

Speaker 2 (19:39):
Probably the body the blow boy. You could probably get
him to sign the block shot. Probably not.

Speaker 8 (19:46):
Let me just say this, I got seven championships, he
got six. He better signed it to sign.

Speaker 10 (19:54):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
Everybody has an opinion on Caitlin Clark. What happened in
the game against Chicago? Your thoughts on the play or
I guess the commentary afterwards?

Speaker 8 (20:05):
Well, you know it's it's weird.

Speaker 12 (20:06):
I look at the you know, the play before that
way she's talking trash and there's certain players you don't
talk trash. I remember talking trash to Charles Barklay and
Oakley and then both you know, making me pay on
the other end. So you got to you gotta understand
if you a rookie, it's best sometimes to be silent.

Speaker 8 (20:22):
It's it's basketball.

Speaker 12 (20:24):
I think every rookie has been tested, no matter it's
in football, basketball, baseball.

Speaker 8 (20:28):
You're gonna get tested like that.

Speaker 12 (20:29):
And people know that the spotlight is on Caton Clark,
so everything is gonna get, you know, blown up a
little bit more than it should be. So it's just
basketball at the end of the day. And every rookie
is gonna get tested. Nobody's complaining about Andelo reche getting
hip checking and throwing them to the ground.

Speaker 8 (20:42):
So I don't know, it's just basketball.

Speaker 4 (20:44):
Did you guys treat Iverson that way when he came
in as a rookie?

Speaker 8 (20:48):
We treated everybody that way, you know, and no matter
who you are.

Speaker 12 (20:51):
You know, you think about when Big Dog came to
the league, he changed the league as far as that
contract he got when he was you know in Milwaukee,
think about his contract was more worth more to what
the Milwaukee Bucks were.

Speaker 8 (21:01):
We didn't care you. He becomes to the lane, you're
making punish and.

Speaker 12 (21:05):
I think every guy does that to see if you're
battle test to see if you're gonna fold like a
cheap tin or you're going to rise to the occasion.
So I think it's not one person in the league
that never got tested.

Speaker 4 (21:14):
God, Glenn Robinson, haven't mentioned that name in a long time.
He got paid. He was the first. He was the
first guy who really got paid.

Speaker 12 (21:22):
I think, yes, yes, unless you go way back to
I think it was Contact with the first guy that
got the ball in the contract and everybody's like, what
the heck.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
You don't start well, his nickname was John Contract. Yes,
John Contact. Out of SMU. We're talking to Robert Ori,
seven time NBA champ, Big Shot Bomb Podcast, join us
on behalf of bed online. What would uh if you're
advising the Celtics, how do you kind of keep Luca

(21:51):
under wraps?

Speaker 4 (21:52):
How would you defend him?

Speaker 8 (21:54):
Uh?

Speaker 12 (21:55):
Double team? You don't have to make someone else beat me.
You know, I'm a huge PJ. Washington fan, and I
know sometimes him and Derek on the outside, Kyrie's not shooting,
Luke's not shooting. You have to take the chance to
name somebody else score, and you once those guys come
up that double team. You put someone in the middle
of the clog up the lob, and you double team
and get it out their hands and don't leave Luca

(22:17):
or Kyrie who is not in the pick and roll.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
How important is this NBA Finals for the Celtics? Their
legacy huge?

Speaker 12 (22:24):
It is huge because you think about all the money
they about to give out. You know, you got Holidays,
just got a new contract, Brown got a new contract.
You know if for singers, can you know, come back healthy.
And of course you know Tatum is up, his contracts up.
You think about he's gonna get paid more than Brown.
So they have to win it now to justify all
the money the auditioning out up there in Boston.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
Is it sustainable that everybody's making fifty sixty You're gonna
have Shaye Gilges Alexander final year of his deal, he's
gonna make eighty one million dollars.

Speaker 12 (22:57):
Yeah, it's it's getting crazy, and you know, I'm happy
for these guys to get their money. But what what
I'm gonna look back at is the fans are gonna
pay the price because ticket price is gonna go up,
you know, and then the concession stands are gonna go up,
and it's just gonna get it's just gonna get priced
out at a point. But you know, hopefully they know
they can add a couple more teams and kind of
make a little bit more money across the league. But

(23:18):
it's it's it's gonna get bananas in pretty soon. You
think about, you know, all the guys that are up
in age, that are superstars that are up like Paul
George and Lebron James, they still gonna get paid too.
And then you got the young bucks coming up, they
gonna get paid. So it's banana's out there where the
money's going. Wish I was still twenty years younger.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
Well, what what would Jordan be worth?

Speaker 8 (23:41):
A team? A billion dollars?

Speaker 4 (23:45):
You can't give them a billion a year.

Speaker 8 (23:48):
You just give them the team, you know.

Speaker 12 (23:49):
He said, Yo, here's your team, construct the team however
you want it, and everything, every money that comes and
belongs to you.

Speaker 8 (23:55):
All right.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
I James Worthy on yesterday and I said, James, Okay,
so the Lakers are going to keep their first round
pick that could have gone to the Pelicans. So that's
seventeenth overall correct, Yes? And I said to James, could
you see where the Lakers are on the clock. They've
re signed Lebron and they decide to take Bronnie James
with the seventeenth overall pick. And he said he could

(24:18):
see that happening.

Speaker 12 (24:20):
I could say I could too. I could too, because
if you look at this draft, if I tell you
to give me the top five picks, you couldn't do it.
You know, you don't know who's going to be in
the top pit and this draft and I hate to say,
it's kind of weak. So why not take a chance
on Brianni James Because everybody cross the league right now,
each draft pick is going to be a project player.

(24:41):
Because there's not one cut guy that's going to say, oh,
he's a game changer like Woman, he's a game trainer
like Zion.

Speaker 8 (24:47):
There are no game changers.

Speaker 12 (24:48):
So why not take a chance for Rollodyce Because you
know my son Christian who played at Harvard Westlake, who
went back to back winning championship. He played Ronny and
Brianni is talented as heck. He got a lot of
athletic skills, but he still raw. And think about if
he can you can get him in the gym. You
play against these guys each and every day, get a
little strong and get a little more adapted to the
NBA system.

Speaker 8 (25:08):
You never know you might have a diamonont the rough.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
Yeah, Mike, I got a couple of concerns. I think
he could have used another year of college. I do too,
And but he's only six one and a half. He's
not six three. That's a concern. I don't I don't
know if he can play. I haven't seen enough when
I watch USC. I just there were times he was

(25:33):
on the floor and I didn't notice him, And that's
hard to do if you're you know, a quality player.

Speaker 12 (25:40):
Well you know, I hate to say is there's times
on the Florida Alabama I played with Latrell Spreew and
James Robinson I was.

Speaker 8 (25:46):
I didn't get the ball.

Speaker 12 (25:47):
But you know, you think about who he played with, Collier,
you know he's probably gonna be a top ten pick.
And sometimes you don't notice guys because other guys are
dominating the ball. And for me, I look at it
like so many guys across. You know, think about PJ.

Speaker 8 (26:01):
Washington. I know ONWN his PJ kick because I love
the guy. I love his game.

Speaker 12 (26:05):
When he was in you know, Charlotte, you know he
barely talked about him. But now here in Dallas you
can see what he can do defensely. You can see
he can get to the corner when you when you've
got a guy who can get him the rock. So
there's a lot of guys that's around this league, like
you're like, who was that guy?

Speaker 8 (26:20):
You know, you know CJ.

Speaker 12 (26:21):
McCollum, Like, who is that guy? All of a sudden
he comes in anybody, he's just killing it. It's a
lot of guys like that. You just got to give
him a chance. And the system might not be right
for him in college, and.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
That's fair. You played with both. So I'm going to
give you first pick. You can have Elijah Wan or
you can have Shack. Uh?

Speaker 8 (26:42):
Can I pick the year of Shack? I'm taking If
I cant MVP Shack, we have to go rolling with.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
Okay, what was different about Shack that that year?

Speaker 12 (26:56):
I think, you know, a lot of us was kind
of gare the field. You know, this is a guy
who just coached you know, six championships with Scottie and MJ.
We all came in that year in shape. Shock came
in shape. He was dominant from the jump, and I
think that was the unknown was the scary part. Who
is this guy? What's the triangle about?

Speaker 8 (27:16):
You know? How does he run his system? You know?

Speaker 12 (27:18):
Being good friends with Ron Harper. He kind of told
me a little bit about like about PJ. So you know,
we went on and did our thing of this so
that shock was incredible. You know, the boards, the MVP
trop for the rebounds, you know. So now, don't get
me wrong, I'm gonna go like, if you give me
a ten year span, take dream. But if you give
me like one season, I get MVP Shack.

Speaker 8 (27:39):
I had to go to.

Speaker 2 (27:40):
Chack all right, Peak Shock Peak Duncan Peak Shack all Yeah,
Peak Duncan peak a king.

Speaker 8 (27:52):
Peak a king.

Speaker 4 (27:53):
Okay, I think is underrated.

Speaker 8 (27:57):
It's very underrated, very I think, you know.

Speaker 12 (28:00):
And there's no disrespect to Tim because you know, every
San Antonio fan going every time I say something and
I don't put Tim as the number one player ever
that I played with, everybody gets mad.

Speaker 8 (28:08):
In San Antonio. Tim was great.

Speaker 12 (28:10):
But you got to understand, you know, you when you're
a San Antonio fan, you only had odds for Tim.
But if you're a basketball player, you sit back and
look at everything that they've done.

Speaker 8 (28:20):
You know, you think about it.

Speaker 12 (28:21):
If I say, okay, you gotta win a game, Tim
is going to the line, A dream is going to line.
Who would you rather have on the line, tim a dream,
you're gonna pick dream our Shack dream, you're gonna pick.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
I think he froze up. Maybe somebody from San Antonio
had something to do with them.

Speaker 6 (28:40):
Three seconds.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
Yeah, Robert, thanks for joining us. Oh do I have
you back? No, I don't, Robert, thanks for joining us.
As always, Robert joining us courtesy of bet Online. Check
out bet online for updated NBA Final Series MVP odds,
along with the game by game lines and proper. Guys

(29:01):
hate when I do that to them, but you know,
this is what we do. When you're asking who would
you rather have? Why, I'd Rother ask somebody who played
with somebody and asked them. He played with Duncan, he
played with the Game, and he played with Shaq and Kobe.
But he's right about Shack that they were all, you know,
doing their due diligence to get ready. When Phil Jackson

(29:22):
was coming to town, they wanted to make sure that
they were ready to go because they were like, man,
look at what Mike and Scotty did, so we want
to make sure we're going to do the same. And
that year Shack was dominating, Yes Mart, he.

Speaker 3 (29:36):
Won the league MVP all Star Game MVP finally MVP.

Speaker 4 (29:40):
Yeah, yeah, Paul.

Speaker 6 (29:42):
The great thing about Robert Dorry, he has that scoreboard
with seven titles. He could throw it out there every
once in a while. You asked Hm about Jordan. I
got seven, he's got six.

Speaker 5 (29:49):
Yeah, he's kind of sign my photo. He'd better sign it.
I got seven.

Speaker 6 (29:52):
Yeah, that's awesome.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
I'd like to hear that conversation though, when Robert goes, Mike,
you sign this. Wait, you're blocking my shot. Get the
bleep out of here, Mike. I got seven rings? Yeah,
I got six, and I earned every one of them.
He does have scoreboard there with seven, but that's when
Bill Russell would just come in and he'd have all

(30:15):
of his rings. So he had so many rings that
he needed an extra finger.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
I wonder if I ever thought about that, getting an
extra finger, just that'd be awesome.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
A couple of phone calls in here, Oran in Oregon, Hey, Orn.

Speaker 11 (30:32):
Hi, Hey, first time, longtime five eight. I had a
comment on your franchise and state name. Florida has whatever
twenty two franchise. Of course they can't be to Florida
whatever they want to be. But the kids from Oregon
as a lifelong Trailblazer fans. We've got one team in

(30:55):
the entire state, the Blazers. The trail Blazers is an
Oregon trail and I think we should all be represented
by the Well.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
Okay, so you'd like to be called the Oregon Trailblazers.
All right, we'll see if we can work on that.
By the way, I talked to somebody. I can't give
too many specifics, but somebody is part of a group
trying to bring a team back to Seattle, some big
names NBA back to Seattle.

Speaker 4 (31:25):
It feels like that's where we're going.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
We're going Seattle, and we're going Las Vegas, and it
feels like Lebron ends up with the Vegas franchise or
at least part owner of that.

Speaker 4 (31:34):
Just feels like that it does. Yes, it does for me,
it does, yes, it does.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
Don't have any real insight information with that, but did
talk to somebody about you know, it's full on. We're
trying to put a group together, put a team in Seattle.

Speaker 8 (31:50):
Man.

Speaker 2 (31:50):
I had a couple of great months of June in
Seattle's They don't like to tell you, hey, it's beautiful
up here in June, you know, or other you know.
So no, it's always raining here. And I get up
there in June, I go, damn, it is gorgeous, Like yeah,
but don't tell people. We don't want, you know, people
to come up here. I'll be damned all this time.

(32:12):
I thought, Man, it rains all when we went to
Portland beautiful, had a wonderful time there.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
Yes, Mark, Can they keep the Sonics name or does
that belong to the Thunder?

Speaker 4 (32:22):
I think no, because the Thunder is the Thunder.

Speaker 2 (32:25):
If they were Oka see you know Sonics, then they
I mean teams normally bring their nickname. I think maybe
that was part of it. We're leaving Seattle and we'll
leave you with the super Sonics.

Speaker 6 (32:35):
Hans point, it's kind of tough to tell because the
Oklahoma City Thunder team history goes down to the SuperSonics
team history. Like if you look at it official NBA websites,
it's like the franchise is the franchise, just with a
new name. I don't think that's correct.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
We like the Cleveland Brown because they took Durant in
Seattle and then they ended up going to Okay, see,
so they were taking the team there. Yeah, it's not
an expansion French.

Speaker 6 (33:02):
I think it's like the Cleveland Browns that they went
to you know, they went to Baltimore and then they
get a new team and they reset like that, Yes, Todd, would.

Speaker 7 (33:10):
You want them to still be green and yellow and
have a similar logo than they had before and just
run it back the way it was or stuff fresh?

Speaker 12 (33:16):
No?

Speaker 4 (33:17):
I like it.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
I I have a Seattle SuperSonics basketball over there. I
have a SuperSonics warm up that I got when I
was covering the NBA Finals. It was like, this is
awesome between Seattle and Utah. They hooked me up. You know,
they were like, uh, would you like a jazz jersey?
What's your favorite number? I said, give me three. I

(33:41):
go in, got my name on the back of my
jazz jersey. I'm like, all right, all right, it's pretty good.

Speaker 4 (33:47):
Yes, Marv.

Speaker 3 (33:48):
And when's this happening?

Speaker 4 (33:49):
You know, don't I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (33:51):
I was just told this yesterday. And the fact that
putting groups together so the commissioner has to be I mean,
you're not putting a group together unless you know that
there is going to be a team available.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
Yes, what happens first you retire or the Sonics get
a team.

Speaker 6 (34:09):
You should announce you're not retiring till they get a team.

Speaker 2 (34:11):
Wow, that's it. Yeah, But then they get one next year,
and then I got to retire. They're like, let's put
that guy out of business. Seattle gets a teams three
and a half years, how about in four years? In
four years, there's a couple more NBA teams.

Speaker 4 (34:33):
How's that.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
By the way, the WNBA could use a few more
teams too. I'd like to see a little bit more
expansion there as well. There's only what one hundred and
forty four players in the WNBA. All right, we'll take
a break, Last call for phone calls, what we learn,
what's in store tomorrow. We'll try to accomplish all of that.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
Next be sure to catch the live edition of The
Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the Iheartraate be a wap.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
Last call for phone calls, what we learn, what's in
store tomorrow, and we have to finish up the mandatory
mini camp game as well as we recap the ten
teams that are going to be showing up for training
camp and we pick the team most likely to go
to the Super Bowl, the team that will have the MVP,
or at least most likely out of this group, and

(35:22):
the team that will disappoint. Any other questions that need
to be asked with a mandatory mini camp game.

Speaker 6 (35:28):
Pull just two more for the room of these ten
ten teams, who has the best uniform style?

Speaker 2 (35:41):
Eagles are changing to that green that we like. I
think they are okay, but they are more in drips
and drabs, not the full time. I'm going to see
the Cowboys. I mean it's still the Cowboys that it's
still great.

Speaker 5 (35:54):
AKA the Colt's uniform just different.

Speaker 4 (36:01):
Uh, I'm going Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
Anybody else got a favorite out of these Dolphins, Texans, Colts, Titans, Cowboys, Eagles, Bears, Lines, Vikings, Niners, Todd.

Speaker 7 (36:11):
Since I'm not looking for clicks like you're with the Cowboys,
I'm gonna say Vikings like the purple.

Speaker 4 (36:16):
Okay, Marv.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
Niners, that's soft seating.

Speaker 4 (36:21):
What about you.

Speaker 5 (36:22):
I'm gonna take a few Dolphins. Underappreciated uniform, especially white. Okay,
great Texans uniform, kind of great new Texans uniform. You're
going to the all red and going straight up new
the Uh, the three and four options that they ever
bears uniform underappreciated it is.

Speaker 4 (36:43):
Yeah's average.

Speaker 5 (36:45):
Yeah that's what I got.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
Okay, yes, mam, I'm going with the Dolphins. Also at
the think of the first team ever with Teal, I
don't think a team had Teal before them.

Speaker 8 (36:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (36:55):
I don't know what the rush was for Teal, right.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
Like the Charlotte Hornets weren't good, but the uniforms made
him look good.

Speaker 4 (37:03):
Yeah it was Teal. It's like, okay, you got.

Speaker 6 (37:06):
Teal on Yeah, Paul, the Dolphins have cleaned up their
act with the uniforms spots six or seven years ago
that Teal got very wonky. It was a mess. I
would go with the forty nine Ers Classic. They really pop.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
Niners in person looks better than it does on TV.

Speaker 6 (37:21):
They pop. Okay, the follow up for this, which of
these teams has bad uniforms?

Speaker 4 (37:25):
Bad uniforms? Titans game over Titans? That might be universal. Yeah,
the two Blues are great.

Speaker 6 (37:38):
There's just a.

Speaker 4 (37:39):
Mix of the numbers, too many fonts, like oh, I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (37:45):
Every time I saw a Titan uniform, I always thought
nineteen to seventeen like it was that was going to
be the final score. No matter what, they were never
going to score like twenty eight. It'd be like final
score is twenty to eighteen. Yeah, Seed, I think cult
uniforms pretty lame.

Speaker 4 (38:04):
Yep, Paul.

Speaker 6 (38:05):
The Lions last year when they had those white pants
or gray pants with no piping, ye were bad. Now
they're cleaning up their act for this season, which probably
will get them to.

Speaker 5 (38:13):
Super How about this day in sports history?

Speaker 6 (38:15):
Got a couple for you, Dan Okay sixty four, Sandy Kofax,
third through his third career no hitter nineteen sixty. Don Drysdale,
also of the Dodgers, six consecutive shutouts nineteen seventy four,
the NFL granted the Seattle Seahawks a franchise, and nineteen
eighty Wow, Gordi Howe announced his retirement from hockey.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
By the Way, nineteen seventy four in Cleveland, ten cent
beer night, What could go wrong? Chaos bottom of the
ninth A small contingent of fans hopped onto the field.
They stole the cap of a Rangers outfielder Jeff Burrows,
as well as they stole all the bases, and they

(38:56):
were fighting on the field with both teams. It was
ruled to forfeit in favor of the Rangers ten cent
beer night.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
I got to make it at least twenty cents.

Speaker 2 (39:07):
Yeah, twenty five, twenty five, let me see two thousand.
The Blazers blow a fifteen point fourth quarter lead, losing
Game seven to the Lakers Western Conference Finals. So yeah, yeah. Also,
Edwin Moses had his streak of one hundred and twenty

(39:30):
two consecutive wins spanning almost a decade. It was ended
in Madrid, Spain, and the runner not a household name.
Danny Harris. Yep, Danny Harris.

Speaker 5 (39:46):
Oh yeah, Daniel Daniel Harris.

Speaker 4 (39:50):
I call him de Harris. Never heard of yes time.

Speaker 7 (39:54):
So Moses part of the track for Harris to win.

Speaker 3 (39:56):
That's what some people said.

Speaker 6 (39:58):
God, thanks for bailing me out there.

Speaker 2 (40:02):
Yeah, holy cow, maybe give me a little bit. Let's
get quizzical again. Marvin close up their.

Speaker 7 (40:08):
Show, not with questions data know your luck. It mixed
good sports radio conversation.

Speaker 1 (40:15):
You gotta answer Rich just right.

Speaker 4 (40:18):
You know what I mean, don't google.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
Let's just try to think.

Speaker 4 (40:23):
It out, telling yourself. Nothing to lee.

Speaker 7 (40:27):
Make sure you know what you're talking about, or get
embarrassed on radio and TV.

Speaker 2 (40:33):
That's exactly what you did? Yes, you did? How about
we go around the room? What we learned on the program?

Speaker 4 (40:41):
Todd?

Speaker 7 (40:41):
When did you learn ed O'Neil was a paid free
agent for the Steelers during Chuck Nole's first year as
their head coach.

Speaker 4 (40:46):
Interesting, Yes, uh see, O'Connor.

Speaker 5 (40:48):
There are actually more verses to the quizzical song that
we don't give enough attention to.

Speaker 2 (40:52):
I know I can't I can't get there. I can't
let it go that long. Marvin, what did you learn today?

Speaker 3 (40:57):
Fritzie is a shower singer?

Speaker 7 (40:59):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (41:00):
Pollywooded you learn Bob can go scoreboard? Bob big shot bomb,
seven rings?

Speaker 4 (41:05):
Todd? What I learn?

Speaker 7 (41:06):
Calling the hipcheck on Kaitlin Clark and assault as if
it happened on the street is kind of silly and absurd.
