Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
It's a Friday. It's our two on the program. Come
on in, stay a while. It's a meat Friday and
we are fired up. Morale is high, sweet Italian sausages,
smoked firecracker, chicken meat balls with cilantro lime rice. Who
has it better than we do? No body, I ain't.
I like it. I like it. It's more like it.

(00:25):
Stat of the Day brought to you by Panini America,
The official trading cards of this program and the Classic
DP Show T shirt has been updated. It's back for
the twenty twenty four football season, entitled The Man in Green.
It's a good one. It is bagably one of my favorites. Yes,
it's great. I really love it. Was great when it
first came out and we brought it back. We updated

(00:47):
it alrighty, Actually the words were mentioned I believe in
reference to it. This shirt is so good. I'm not
even going to sue you for it. Oh really, I
believe so Okay, this shirt is so good, I'm not
even gonna sue you for it. Who could have said that?
Because we've had other shirts I thought were pretty good
and we were threatened with a lawsuit. Yeah, but hey,

(01:10):
come on, we've moved past that. We're just a little show.
You nothing to see here, just keep moving along. Good morning.
If you're watching on Peacock, thanks for downloading the app,
our streaming partner or radio affiliates. And we got a
few interesting poll questions today. Do you want to recap
hour one? As we trudge into hour two on this Friday?

(01:31):
Brady Quinn from Fox will stop buying a little bit,
I say we move into hour two within enthusiasm, unknown
to man. Cond Wow, we're not trudging anywhere. We kept finishing. Okay,
all right, If you were Travis Hunter, which would you
play in the NFL offense or defense? Right now? Offense
has eighty percent of that vote, and generally I'm rooting
for Colorado to win or lose. Heaters right now, sixty

(01:55):
nine percent of the audience are rooting for them to lose. Now.
Dion said that during his press conference line night, he
goes a lot of new members of the media. You know,
you disappointed we got a W. You were hoping we
get an L. You're gonna have to wait till next week.
Drive home safely. I'm like, Okay, I wasn't watching thinking, gosh,

(02:16):
I hope they lose. I mean, there's part of me
that wanted North Dakota State to win because I like
the program there. You know, they play really good football.
But I mean, I'm in the content business. If he wins,
it's a story. If he loses, it's a story. Yes,
don how far does us.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
Against the world work as a motivational tool, Like when
managers and players do that kind of everyone's against us,
No one thinks we can do anything.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Well, it got him four wins last year, So they
were really good in September and then they weren't really
good after that. They might have sort of a roller
coaster ride again. I don't think that this is about depth,
and that's what I said when I saw them last
year against TCU. I'm like, Okay, they have some skill

(03:04):
position players. You got a really good quarterback and a
really good wide receiver. It's going to take more than that,
and that's what we're seeing. The offensive line was terrible
last year. The defense isn't very good this year, and
because of that, that's the surprising part of it. You've
got to build with your offense and defensive lines. You
just you can have those skilled position players, they can

(03:26):
only take you so far, and that's what was surprising.
Now it's one game, and yes, we love to overreact,
either really good or really bad, so I'm trying not
to overreact at all. Other than I thought that they
might have a little bit better defense, even though they
got a great defensive player in Travis Hunter. And the offense,

(03:49):
they've got some weapons, but you're gonna have shootouts. I
think they're going to be in shootouts constantly. But they
got the win. That's the most important thing with all
of this, Given what has happened in the last couple
of weeks with Dion, you can't open up lay in
an egg against North Dakota State. They got the win.

(04:10):
Now they go to Nebraska next week. I saw this
story wanted to get confirmation on it. Columbus Blue Jackets
winger Johnny Goudreau and his brother Matthew killed yesterday when
they were struck by a vehicle while riding bicycles in
New Jersey. He was thirty one years of age, his
brother twenty nine, and Johnny hockey. He played with the

(04:36):
Columbus Blue Jackets. I think he might have played in
Calgary but the driver suspected of being under the influence
has been charged with two counts of death by auto.
Investigation is ongoing. So I saw that, and I want
to make sure that we had confirmation on the thirty

(04:56):
one years of age brother twenty nine. We'll get phone
calls coming up hour two eight seven seven three DP
show operator Tyler sitting by to take your phone calls,
and this meet Friday, Brady Quinn will join us the
Big Noon Kickoff. I keep calling it high noon kickoff?
Why is in high noon the beverage sponsoring make some cash?

(05:18):
Just call it high noon kickoff?

Speaker 4 (05:19):
I don't kickoff? Makes some cash?

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Yeah, high noon kickoff?

Speaker 4 (05:23):
And you know you're drinking on a set of legal you.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Know McAfee can do it. Oh I'm sorry, yeah, now
that would be high noon kickoff McAfee if they were
sponsoring his show. He had quite a quite a trip
there to Ireland. There he did a lot of things
that most tourists do, and he also got to be
part of College Game Day. It was like the kind

(05:46):
of video that you watched. I'm like, wow, at least
it wasn't on like ESPN. Wow. You know, it's crazy.
You could do whatever you want on a stream. Huh,
no rules anymore? It well, oh oh oh it was. Yeah,
so he was drinking on a show and then I
believe he puked, and not.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
On air that we know of, but maybe on the property.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Yeah, I'm pretty sure on air, I think. Yeah. You know,
things have changed to the ESPN since I was there.
I remember when you know you're getting in trouble for,
you know, wearing shorts during the Sports Center. Now you
probably don't need to have pants on it all. Do
whatever you want there?

Speaker 4 (06:26):
Who, yes, Paul, Yeah, we do road trip shows and
if we're down in Texas, we eat some barbecue on
the set. If if we were over in New England,
we'd eat some clam chowder on the set. You go
to Ireland, you don't necessarily have to have fifteen Guinnesses
on the set.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Gin I yeah, yeah, but like the bar has been
set literally, yeah, thank you. How do you get in
trouble if you show up drunk? Like I don't know,
if Herbie shows up drunk at college game day? Do
you just say hey, crazy NVD, No big deal.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
Of course, I'm pounding, you know, a couple more years
on this show.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
Gosh, Now times have changed what you can do.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
Say.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
I feared for my job a lot of days when
I went in there for no real reason and they
were threatening us too. Back then, yes, Tony, you got.

Speaker 5 (07:21):
Called in and I got yelled at.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Last, I got yelled at because we were we were
ad libbing too much on the show. After the script there,
I should have said I was drunk and they would
have said, oh, then that's okay. You said, I just
did a one hundred milligrams of animals before I got here.
So it's actually no big deal. College football coming up

(07:45):
this weekend. Penn State, West Virginia, Clemson is getting twelve
against Georgia the so called neutral site that's in Atlanta,
South Dakota State, Oklahoma State. I am intrigued with that.
Miami minus two and a half against Florida. Notre Dame's
getting three at A and m and LSU giving four
to USC on Sunday night. So some of the college

(08:07):
football action coming up this weekend, A couple of phone
calls in here and a big game coming up tonight,
you're gonna have a hard time finding it. And that's
the Indiana fever in the Chicago sky. It's Angel Reese
versus Caitlin Clark versus Caitlin Clark versus Caitlin Clark.

Speaker 6 (08:32):
There you go.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
There, we'll keep an eye on that.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
Thank you. That's the network. It's on the Ion network.
Excuse me, thank you, Todd. I'm not sure is Ion
where it's like Murder She Road is on.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
You'll find a lot of Hawaii. I've o's a lot
of law and orders.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Okay, a lot of them? Okay, can you flex this game?
Like this is a big game and you got two
teams that don't even have winning records, but this is
a big, big game, big ticket prices too. I have
the Indiana fever by the way, I asked DraftKings, who's

(09:11):
favorite Indiana fever? By five over the Sky? Yes, Paul.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
The fever at the Sky is seven o'clock Eastern on
Ion Network. The lead in is seven episodes of Hawaii
five ozho okay there all day episode marathon. Not kidding, Okay, yeah,
you're right.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
How often do you have a sort of marquee matchup,
a very look forward doable two game with two losing teams? Yeah,
like two teams below five hundred and you're like, oh yeah,
here we go says a lot about those two because
we're tuning in to see those two. Yeah, they're teams.

Speaker 5 (09:47):
Now.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
The Fever have been really good second half of the season,
really good. They're fifteen and sixteen. Yeah, but get rid
of that first I don't know five, well, say four
weeks of the season, three weeks of the sea and
they start out zeroing five. They're a good team, quality team,
and seem to be hitting their stride the Chicago Sky.

(10:11):
They're still playoff right on the edge of the playoffs.
I think so. I think it's like the seventh and
eighth seeded teams.

Speaker 6 (10:18):
Yes, Marvin, So whenever these two teams play, just throw
out the records.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Yes, okay, yeah, yeah. But here's the thing. They don't
guard each other. That's when like a rivalry, you'd kind
of like to see them guard one another, but they don't,
you know, unless Caitlin Clark goes to the rim, then
she'll meet Angel Reese. But you know, the way the
Fever are playing, I mean, it's good, it's fun stuff.

(10:43):
It's a Friday night. Just in case you're not interested
in Temple versus Oklahoma, Western Michigan versus Wisconsin or Florida
Atlantic versus Michigan State. Those are the games coming up tonight.
Did we change the polqui for our two seaton? Well,
we have one here from Paulie. That's kind of a

(11:04):
topic y poll question. Yes, a big, big one. Now.
Is topicy a word? Nope, I'm trying to make up
as many words as possible as segment Well we we
We did make up one in the first hour. Surpriser,
you're not a big fan of topic e. I don't
think I'm fine with it.

Speaker 5 (11:21):
I like it.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
I'd like I'd like speaking my own language. Twenty twenty
three playoff team that will miss the playoffs AFC and NFC. Okay, okay,
so we can pick all right and remove some right
if you start AFC, I think the Chiefs are making it. Okay,
but let's say the Bills, Yes, Dolphins are in there,
Ravens Brown. Yeah, see the Browns would well, no, Steelers

(11:44):
would probably win this. Texans are in there, and the
Chiefs are in there. Probably the Steelers guessing Bills, I
mean a f C. The Jets are the favorite. And
so you got Bills and Dolphins who made the playoffs.

(12:05):
You have Ravens Brown, Steelers all in the same division,
and the Bengals might be the best team in the division.
Chiefs will be there, and the Texans, although once again
two professional gamblers said they were fading the Texans this year.
Didn't think they were going to be as good because

(12:25):
the schedule that they play that they they're probably too
hot to bet on. Oh, too hot, tot, too hot
to the touch? Yes, Hunt, how to come.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
About to Sean watch him and the Browns this year?
That that's the team that jumped out to me, QB.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
I would like to have Nick Chubb playing. He's on
the pup list physically unable to perform list, which is
you've been on that list many times? Done I have
currently perpetually unable to perform?

Speaker 5 (12:58):
Is a tough place to be.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
Yes, but you you do have rhyme time a little
later on in the show.

Speaker 5 (13:04):
Oh, you don't ye to try and rhyme words. I
just can't swing up.

Speaker 2 (13:08):
I'm gonna have to wait towards the end of the show.
We want to keep the audience, you know. And also
there's the chance you forget about this and then we
just go into the weekend.

Speaker 5 (13:17):
I'd drop the piece of paper on your desk.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Oh my god. When he would do mock headlines and
I would walk by him during the commercial break and
he would drop his mock headlines right in front of
me and then looking at the clo it's eleven nine twelve.

Speaker 5 (13:32):
We're a guest at eleven twenty. This is not going
to happen unless I reminded.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
But he would drop them and he go, oh, those
are my mock headlines, my mock.

Speaker 5 (13:41):
Headline sheet that I actually dropped on your feet.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
And then he would email me during the show, don't
forget I have mock headlines, and then I would go
I wouldn't acknowledge.

Speaker 5 (13:51):
With exclamation points, yes.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
Yes, yes you did. By the way, shout out to
the Diamondbacks. Their manager Tory Leavello sent in his allso
our game pants and shoot USh socks. So he just
got that autographed. It said two Dan Goes snakes, Tory Lavello.
That was, you know, his promise, And we got Paul

(14:14):
Skeens into the All Star Game, got him starting, and
then Tory called up to say, hey, I want you
to be the starting pitcher. And then and schemes had
a little bit of something to do with that. But well,
although his last outing, his girlfriend was not happy that
they blew a big lead to the Cubs and Livy Dunn.

(14:35):
His girlfriend tweeted out, I think it was it may
have been a video, like basically, you got to be
kidding me. They blew a big lead for her boyfriend.
But Tory sent in his pants. Game used pants, and
uh they're valuable to us. I don't know. I guess
I got to get another mannequin. So I have the
Don Mattingly mannequin, John Daly mannequin, Jim Harbaugh mannequin. Maybe

(14:59):
have to get to Tory Lavello Torso mannequin. Just put
his pants and socks on there. All right, Well, take
a break, we'll come back. Brady Quinn will join us.
Phone calls we'll get to those as well. Eight seven
to seven three DP show back after this Dan Patrick show.

Speaker 7 (15:30):
Yeah, as everybody knows, we're the hosts of the award
winning Polly and TONI Foosco show. Yeah, but instead of
us telling you how great we are. Here's how Dan
Patrick described us when he came on our show.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
Quick, knowledgeable and funny, opinionated.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
What are you doing interrupting our promo? Yeah, you wasn't
talking about you.

Speaker 8 (15:48):
You took those clips totally of context.

Speaker 7 (15:51):
Oh yeah, well after this promo, I'm gonna take you
out and beat you.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
Let me put this into context. Shut up.

Speaker 7 (15:57):
Yeah, anyway, just listen to the Paully and Tony fo
Go Show on IoT Radio, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you
get your podcasts.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Yea. He works on the show that precedes ours on
Fox Sports Radio Two Pros and a Cup of Joe.
Former Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn part of Big Noon Kickoff,
mark Ingram Matt Liner, Urban Meyer. Brady Quinn alongside Rob
Stone the Stoner. They are going to be in Morgantown

(16:26):
coming up this weekend and you can watch it on
the Big Neon Kickoff. Great to talk to you again.
How's morale? Brady Morale's fantastic.

Speaker 9 (16:35):
Right now.

Speaker 8 (16:36):
We're in Morgantown, West Virginia for the big matchup between
Penn State and West Virginia and you know, Dan, we've
never been here before, so this is a it's a
fun experience for us, always one of new places. Seeing
the excitement, you know, with West West Virginia how they
played last year, some of the fans feel like this
is probably as good of a team, or at least they're
they're feeling this way to win in the season, but

(16:57):
as good of a team since Gino Smith and taeb
On Austin and that group really came through Morgantown. So
a lot of excitement from the Mountaineers.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
Feels like every year at this time we talk about
Penn State and we go, Okay, are they in the
Ohio State Michigan category? They're in the very good category.
Handicapped Penn State this year because I know there's going
to be a white out night and it's going to
be great and it's going to be festive. And then
at the end of the year they're ten and two.

Speaker 8 (17:28):
Well, what's the difference with ten and two this year
is ten and two will gets rid of the Okay
with a twelve TEP playoffs? Okay, And actually, if you
go back through the past decade of the fourteenthloff, if
it was twelve let's just say, hypothetically it was twelve teams,
Penn State would have been at six times, So I
think that narrative probably changes a lot for James frank

(17:48):
Went in Penn State as far as just how consistently
good they've been with the exception of facing Ohio State Michigan.

Speaker 9 (17:55):
This is the year, though, where I feel like it's
going to be different.

Speaker 8 (17:58):
And for that reason, one, they've got new coordinators on
both sides of the ball.

Speaker 9 (18:02):
Their defense has never been an issue.

Speaker 8 (18:03):
I think Tom Allen the format coach in Indiana, would
do a tremendous job that moves some pieces around on
defense too to kind of fit what they need. But
it's more about Andy Kolniki, the offensive coordinator that comes
in from Kansas, extremely creative.

Speaker 9 (18:17):
Look, they're gonna run the football.

Speaker 8 (18:18):
When you have k Tron Allen Nis singles at a
running back, there's a tour of the best in college football.
That's the Brendon Butter. But it's getting the most out
of Drewaler. And if he can do that, I think
this guy he reminds me a lot of Ben Roethlisberger.
He's big, he's athletic, he's got a big arm. You
just see some inaccuracy here and there, and then then
the short intermediate throws sometimes. You know, he has a

(18:42):
hard time creating to make some things happen, but you
see flashes of what I'm talking about in regards to
Big Ben and some of the similarities.

Speaker 9 (18:49):
So if he can get that out of him more consistently,
I think.

Speaker 8 (18:52):
They're gonna be a team that's gonna be competing for
the Big Ten, probably with Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
Okay, yeah, LSU and USC. That sneaky in Vegas handicap
those two. LSU losing Jayden Daniels, USC losing Caleb Williams.

Speaker 8 (19:09):
It's funny, you know, talking to Lincoln Riley this offseason,
one of the things he mentioned was how they lose
that improvisational skill set that Caleb brings. But you know,
Milon Moss kind of plays more maybe within the system,
you know, maybe more what you want from a play
caller or a coach.

Speaker 9 (19:25):
And it led me to think that, you know, moving
on from a guy like.

Speaker 8 (19:29):
Caleb Williams who is a generational talent, but now having
a guy in the quarterback spot that maybe it's not
quite as talented. Maybe when they do when maybe maybe
when they do have that success, it feels more of
it's a team as opposed to it would just be
one individual carrying that team. And I got the sense
that they feel like they're in a better spot from
a team perspective. Obviously, the changes on the defensive staff

(19:49):
will be part of that hit the portal again to
help that group. But I got the sense that this
team feels like they're in a better spot than where
they were before, where a lot of things were just
kind of about Kayleb Williams and all they heard was
how bad they were everywhere else besides Caleb Williams. So
I think Lincoln Riley feels like he's in a better
spot from that standpoint. But again, the transition to the

(20:09):
Big ten is gonna be tough, and starting off versus
LSU isn't gonna help build a lot of momentum because
elis who's an extremely talented team. You know, I think
Garrett ness Meyer's going to pick up right where Jane
Daniels left offs. Now he's not gonna have Mike den
Rock they're calling place for him. However, Brian Kelly has
been through coaching changes before. He's an extremely successful head coach,
so he will be able to write that shit. I'm

(20:32):
not sure how that this opening game like this will
play out. I would lean more towards LSU with some
of the talent they have, some of the continuity they
have too compared to some of the changes that you've
got it at USC with the defense and off Stadeon quarterback.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
How do we get here with Clemson where they were
in the conversation for national title and now all of
a sudden has debo. I don't know, it feels like
they dropped a little bit here. Not I mean, what
are they sixteenth in the country, but still they're twelve
point underdogs against Georgia and he doesn't take transfers or

(21:06):
nil or you know, he's got his principles there. Now
it feels like the Natives are getting restless here with
the dabbo.

Speaker 8 (21:15):
And there's something to be said for kind of sticking
to what you believe your identity is, what you want
to kind of create your program around.

Speaker 9 (21:21):
There's something to be said for that. However, I think
everyone would agree.

Speaker 8 (21:26):
You have to adapt with the times if you want
to survive and if you want to be considered one
of the top teams in order to do that, you've
got to participate in an IL. You've got to be
able to supplement your roster the transfer portal. I mean,
you look at some teams, for example, like Colorado, they're
making wholesale changes in a transfer portal.

Speaker 9 (21:42):
Now I'm not saying that's the way of doing it.

Speaker 8 (21:44):
Maybe it is, though, you know, maybe coach Prime after
the win last night and be able to prove otherwise
that you could turn over a roster every off season
if you will, and for the most part, as long
as you have a quarterback and a few of the
key pieces.

Speaker 9 (21:55):
You can go win some football games.

Speaker 8 (21:57):
But they've been really resisted to do that, and I
think we've seen it kind of hurt them in some
spots where Look, I mean, high school recruiting is not
exact science. So when you're bringing these kids up, you know,
you don't know how they're going to develop, You don't
know what they're going to turn to do three or
four years down the road. So I think that's hurt
them a little bit. And not being able to replace
some of the spots that they've missed. They've obviously lost

(22:19):
some coordinators too. I think that always plays a role
and trying to replace good coordinators that come in underneath you.
Every head coach that has dealt with that. Nick Saban did,
but probably more successfully than others. But I think it's
a lack of wanting to adapt to the times and
being able to supplement's spots where maybe they've missed and
so what they've been down, but I mean not down
in the grand schema things, just more down to the

(22:40):
degree that Dabble I think created for him.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
So talking to Brady Quinn, Fox College Football Analysts, Big
noon Kickoff in Morgantown coming up this weekend. Coverage starts
at ten am Eastern on Fox. Also one of the
hosts on Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, the
show that preceeds hours on Fox Sports Radio. And let
me start with shud Or Sanders. What do you see
I mean, are we talking first round high first round

(23:04):
talent at quarterback.

Speaker 9 (23:06):
Yes.

Speaker 8 (23:06):
I think he's going to compete with Carson Beck for
the number one overall quarterback and for these reasons. You know,
I think a lot of the conversation about shador Or
Colorado and Coach Prime intends up being all this stuff
outside of football for the most part.

Speaker 9 (23:19):
Right when you watch him.

Speaker 8 (23:21):
First off, he's an incredibly accurate passer, and so that
translates no matter what level football you're playing. The thing
that I love about him the most, it's really truefold
and it kind of goes hand in hand. It's his
poise and his toughness. I mean, how many times did
we see last year and even just last night he
hangs in there. He hangs in there, or even he
buys time to hang in there until someone separates or

(23:42):
gets open and he delivers a strike and gets blasted.
That is something that you cannot coach. You cannot teach.
You either have that or you don't. And you could
tell he's put on some muscle to this offseason, I
think to prepare himself for that, because let's just be honest,
where our offensive line is at, they're probably going to
face more of those issues, especially if they're not balance
running the football. But that poise and toughness always gives

(24:06):
them a shot. And he is one of the best
quarterbacks and he's got some extremely talented skilled players and
Travis Hunter and Jimmy Horn Junior.

Speaker 9 (24:12):
So there they're gonna hang around a lot of games.

Speaker 8 (24:15):
But I think if he continues on this path, they
keep winning football games. I think he's gonna be up
for the Heisman. He'll be up not only for that
number one overall spot in the draft. The interesting thing
is going to be is if he gets still the
attention for the Heisman even if the team doesn't win
quite as many games because of the heavy lift that
he's got.

Speaker 9 (24:33):
You know, with that Colorado team.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
If you're Travis Hunter, would you gear up to be
defensive back or wide receiver in the NFL?

Speaker 9 (24:42):
Oh Man, I mean looking at these wide receiver contracts.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
What I said, Yeah, I agree?

Speaker 8 (24:49):
I mean Brandon I you frustrated with a four years,
one hundred and twenty million dollars contract.

Speaker 9 (24:55):
He's all just stradabout it.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
But people are gonna say, oh, you know, he'll he
can play both both ways, And I said, you can't
because you're going to be in defensive meetings offensive meetings,
like you can't meet two places at one time. Or
could he?

Speaker 8 (25:11):
I think he could? You know, you figure out a
way of the schedule scheduling so you get him caught
up to speed on both.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
But full time on both sides of the ball, or.

Speaker 8 (25:21):
Maybe not full time, and you're gonna have players you
rotate out in anyway as a wide receiver, And so
if I was looking at it realistically of how that
would work, I think he'd be out there full time
as a defensive back and then a wide receiver. He'd
be in probably of sixty to seventy percent of the plays.

Speaker 9 (25:36):
And I think that's that's possible.

Speaker 10 (25:37):
Wow, Now you got to go You're got to be
good about how you hide that, because you can't just
throw them in there on places where you know they're
throwing the football right, because every team's gonna to the
SKYT report and go, hey, Travison, it's gonna be a pass.

Speaker 8 (25:48):
So you've got to be careful about that. I think
he's the type of athlete and we're a talent that could.
I know there's a lot of people who are going
to track from that and say it's ANFL schedule. He
won't be able to take the physicality, the beating. I
would love to see him try that. I'd love to
see him try to see if he could do it.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
Could you have played like inside linebacker as well as
quarterback same time.

Speaker 8 (26:09):
I think in my mind I would like to think that,
but in reality, most likely not especially having a brother
in law who played that position and always I mean,
if you ever notice like AJ's hands, I used to
see this after he played games, like he kind of
holds him like this because they'd be so mangled, like
he couldn't break his wrists or everything else. His hands
would be all beat up. They looked like, you know,

(26:29):
big fishhooks is really what.

Speaker 9 (26:30):
They look like.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
So your brother's AJ Hawk. Did he ever hit you?

Speaker 9 (26:35):
Of course?

Speaker 8 (26:35):
Yeah, yes, the Bowl, he actually, you know a lot
of people don't know this, he actually got me twice.
He beat me twice. When we're in sixth grade, we
played in a Dayton League. We couldn't find enough teams
apparently in central Ohio, so we could travel with Dayton
every every Saturday to go play. And he played for
Centerble and their team beat us in the championship of
that back in sixth grade.

Speaker 9 (26:56):
And obviously they beat us in the Fiesta Bowl as well.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
As he hit you off the field.

Speaker 8 (27:02):
No, no, we every once in a while we'll kind
of test each other, you know, kind of like the
probably hug that like evolves into like testing.

Speaker 9 (27:11):
To see like how he responds and stuff.

Speaker 8 (27:13):
But he actually tore his peck and so every single
time I see him and mess with him, I'll kind
of poke him where I know he tore his peck
where kind of hurts him and messes with.

Speaker 9 (27:21):
Him a little bit like it.

Speaker 8 (27:24):
And then every once in a while I'll act like
I'm gonna shoot, try to do like a takedown or something.
But he's got a little crazy at him, like to
be married to my older sister, Like he's got to
be a little He always says she's crazy, but he's
crazy too.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
Yeah, but you tried to wrestle Will Ferrell a year
ago at this time when we were in Ireland, and
that was a mistake.

Speaker 8 (27:42):
If I looking back on that, I had no idea.
By the way, Will looks great for his age. I
had no idea his age. And then I realized, like
there could have been a broken hip involved, there could
have been a cardiac event, and I regret that. I apologize,
And I mean, I think I just got kind up
a moment and they're in Ireland, which I think we
all did, if we're being.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
Honest with yes, that is true. More concerning Alabama without
Saban or Michigan without Harbaugh.

Speaker 8 (28:09):
I think it's Alabama without Saban and it's twofold.

Speaker 9 (28:13):
The first is, if you're Kaitlyn de Borer, you're a
great coach.

Speaker 8 (28:16):
We've seen his track record so far, but you're replacing
the goat, And so how do you even go about
putting your fingerprints on something that it's not like it
needs to be fixed, Like he just decided to hang
it up. So now you've got to try to find
your own spin on it and equate to even a
portion of the success that Nick Saban had and it's
incredibly difficult to do.

Speaker 9 (28:36):
So that in and of itself is hard.

Speaker 8 (28:38):
And then I think for Caitlyn de Boor looking at
what he has, I think Jaylen Milroe is one of
the best quarterbacks in college football.

Speaker 9 (28:45):
But if you look at what Kaylen Deboor was on
with Michael Pennix for.

Speaker 8 (28:48):
The two years he was in Washington, he transformed him
from a different player from his time in Indiana and
they threw the football all around the field. I don't
know that Jamn Milroe out the gate will be able
to do that this year year. So how do you
go back constructing the offense to play to those strengths.
That'll be another one of those challenges, And I think
for Michigan. Look, we already saw Schroon boor Or play

(29:08):
for football last year. And if I had to ask
you what you think the identity of Michigan is this year,
it's probably we're going to stay together the run game
and really salty defense.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
Right.

Speaker 8 (29:17):
I mean that they had a first round quarterback last
year and they'll stilled their identity.

Speaker 9 (29:21):
So that's not going to change even though Jim Harball's
not there.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
But can you see Harball try to bring Michigan to
the Chargers.

Speaker 9 (29:29):
Yeah, he just signed uh Hassan Haskins.

Speaker 8 (29:32):
I mean he's literally signing players out there that used
to be on his roster. But I think that's also
part of what you do as a head coach.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
Right now, can you run the football like? Can he
play Michigan style in the NFL?

Speaker 8 (29:45):
Yeah, I don't think there's any doubt about it. I mean,
you've got to adapt and change a little bit. But
go back to the San Francisco teams. I mean, you
figure out a way of utilizing Colin Kaeprick to make
him effective in the running game. I mean, if I'm
not mistake in going back those years with Frank Gore's
incredibly active and a salty defense.

Speaker 9 (30:01):
I mean, that's how they built that roster and built
that team.

Speaker 8 (30:04):
And I think he made a statement too, and he
took Joel and not because he's an enter dame guy,
but because that's how they built those teams. If you
look at Michigan, and when he probably got there, he
looked at it and says, if I'm watching Bama, if
I'm watching Georgia, everyone's talking about the trenches. Like when
you talk about steel players all we want when when
we go every week to see these teams, I can
almost surely sit there and go that team's gonna win,

(30:26):
that team's gonna lose.

Speaker 9 (30:27):
And it's because how they look up front, sure on
both sides of the football. And I think that's what
he's trying to get to. That's why he took up
mammoth of a human.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
Being and Joel behave down there in Morgantown. You can
get in trouble.

Speaker 9 (30:39):
I've heard that before. I've heard that before. I'm still
looking for uh, I'm still looking for a little fun.
Maybe were gonna do something of the Mountaineer or something,
you know, get that old musket.

Speaker 8 (30:47):
Out there, firet.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
Uh Seaton went to uh, went to West Virginia for
a little while. Did Mike cameo, pear?

Speaker 9 (30:58):
Why why a little while? Why away a little while?
What happened?

Speaker 2 (31:01):
What if you just refer back to that trouble that
you get into. We were telling you I took full
advantage of that in my tenure there. Not ten years
but ten years. Yeah, ten years there, I mean, so.

Speaker 9 (31:13):
I'm not judging if it was ten years, by the way,
not judging.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
Did you ever get in trouble at Notre Dame like socially?

Speaker 8 (31:21):
Socially No, there is an incident one time where there's
construction near my dorm. I lived lived in zomb Hall, which,
to give you any indication, it's not even a dorm anymore.

Speaker 9 (31:32):
It was a little bit of a wild dorm, I guess.

Speaker 8 (31:34):
But we don't pick. We get kind of thrown in there.
I had driven on campus. I think it was on
the summertime or maybe it was like they just started
the season, and it was an area where there was construction,
and so theer there's a.

Speaker 9 (31:47):
Gate to get on campus, you can't just like drive
on wherever you want. It's really hard to get on.

Speaker 8 (31:52):
And so they had let me go on because I
think I was like dropping people off or something, but
the person of the gate told me to drive on
a sidewalk area because there's constructional wise I couldn't get
back to the dorm, and I did so there happened
to be like a Notre Dame police officer there.

Speaker 9 (32:06):
She was not too happy about that.

Speaker 8 (32:08):
So that became like a big incident where there's like
cop cars everywhere, and then they all it took was
one radio up to the guard game and they're like, yeah,
sorry about that.

Speaker 9 (32:17):
I told him you to do that. So that was
about the most trouble I got in.

Speaker 8 (32:21):
But there was like ATVs there's like three cop cars
surrounding like the dorm was like everyone's looking outside and
I was.

Speaker 9 (32:27):
Like, this looks a lot worse than what actually happened here.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
It sounds like a boring college career.

Speaker 8 (32:34):
It had to be boring, though, man, when you're when
you're the quarterback in Notre Dame and I'm sure you
know Sam Hartman and his hair dealt with this last year.

Speaker 9 (32:42):
You know Riley Lennon's dealing with this?

Speaker 8 (32:43):
Now? Is you get noticed everywhere? I mean I remember
even like afterwards, like we've been on international trips in
Italy or Ireland, and like you've got people randomly just
go hey, I remember watching a Notre Dame. It's it's
it's one of those things that kind of it comes
with the territory.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
All right, Well, have some fun down there. Thanks for
joining us. As always, Brady, we have a lot of
funner here.

Speaker 5 (33:06):
So you know, he les.

Speaker 2 (33:08):
Liner didn't get cheated in college though, no he did not.

Speaker 9 (33:12):
He had a great.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
Rady. He should have stayed an extra year at USC.

Speaker 9 (33:17):
I mean think about nowadays, you'd stay like seventy years ago.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
Liner should still be at USC's. Yeah, thank you, Brady.
Thanks Brady Quinn. There in Morgantown, it's ben State and
in West Virginia Big noon kickoff. Also, he's one of
the co hosts on Two Pros and a Cup of Joe,
the show that preceeds hours on Fox Sports Radio. Will

(33:43):
come back update the poll results. Dak Prescott has some
interesting things to say about his owner and the NFL
team that will drop out of the playoff mix from
last year. Have that for you After this, be sure
to catch the live edition of The Dan Patrick Show
weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific. On Fox

(34:04):
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio wapp Slide into the Weekend
brought to you by King Zawaiian. They want you to
get together with family and friends, enjoy the weekend. Make
every Sunday Slider Sunday. If you could only watch one
of the following Clemson and Georgia, South Dakota State at
Oklahoma State, Notre Dame at Texas A and M, Miami

(34:26):
versus Florida USC LSU, you can only watch one one game, Todd,
I'm gonna ask you which game would you watch?

Speaker 3 (34:38):
I'm gonna go Notre Dame at Texas A and M.
Because there's an interesting duke connection where the duke quarterback
is now the Notre game quarterback and the former duke
coach is the Texas A and M coach, and this
two duke guys going against each other, and I think
that's kind of entertaining.

Speaker 2 (34:51):
Okay, So Mike Elko his first game at Texas A
and M against his former quarterback against Riley Leonard.

Speaker 4 (34:57):
What if he gets an el.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
Coh then Linda Khane Elco what's there? Nickname? Uh Seaton?
You can watch one game this weekend? Which one will
it be?

Speaker 8 (35:12):
You?

Speaker 2 (35:12):
Know what, I actually feel like the abbreviation Bowl is
kind of tasty. USC at versus LSU. Okay, battle of
the letters, that's USC. People are pretty down on USC
this year. LSU is kind of always good. Brian Kelly
puts together a fun team. Yeah, he's gonna get eleven
wins for you. Both teams replacing the top two quarterbacks

(35:36):
huge heck Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels, and LSU is
a slight favorite.

Speaker 6 (35:40):
Marvin one game, I'm gonna go Nordre Dame Texts A
and M. Also, I just like you know what, text
A and M. They are the one seed of man.
We really really want to be great at football, and
this is your opportunity to prove that you can play
with the big boys.

Speaker 5 (35:54):
And so I'm going with that game.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
Yeah, number seven versus number twenty. PAULI one game. This
is tough Clemson Georgia. That's too early and too big
for me. It's like a shock to the system. I
need a nice Maryland Iowa game at noon, not this right.
As much as on brand, I would love to watch
South Dakota State first half cover the hell out.

Speaker 4 (36:13):
Of Oklahoma State. I'm going to go down the board
to usc LSU and here's why LSU in the past
four season openers OHO and four little hope for usc
LSU not good in season openers lately.

Speaker 2 (36:26):
About that, Yeah, it sounded like a stat of the day, Marvin.
I don't want to program my brother outday. This is
the Stan Today, stout On Today, brought to you by
Vananian America, the divisional trading curds of the Dan Patrick Show.

(36:49):
Slide into the Weekend brought to you by King Shawan.
They want you to get together this weekend and have
yourself a slider Sunday. I had a couple of phone
cloths in here, and then, uh, we're going to play
the playoff team that will not be a playoff team.
You know what? Let me let me do that because
I want to make sure we get this segment with
a FC NFC Bill's Dolphins, Ravens, Brown Steelers, Texans Chiefs

(37:13):
Todd which team will not be back in the postseason
out of that grouping the Browns, all right, see no
counter come back to me, Marvin.

Speaker 5 (37:27):
The Los Angeles Rams.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
No, no, no, We're doing the AFC.

Speaker 4 (37:33):
But to be clear, the Rams cannot make the AFC playoffs.

Speaker 5 (37:37):
That's fair.

Speaker 2 (37:39):
This is this on? Okay, Cleveland Browns, Bill's, Dolphins, Ravens, Brown, Steelers,
Texan chief. Yes, this is a weird one because if
you pick, say, like the Texans, it feels like you're
being a like you're reigning on the parade. Yeah right,
Dolphins are good, Ravens are good, Brown's whatever. Paulie's got

(38:02):
me convinced that the Steelers are actually going to be
way better than they were last year. Okay, who's your pick.
I'm gonna say the buff Flow Bills. Wow, the window
is closed, the windows closed. Yes, I'm gonna say the Bills.

Speaker 4 (38:17):
Paulie, the Steelers will be better this year. They threw
for thirteen touchdowns as a team. They gotta be better.

Speaker 2 (38:23):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (38:24):
I'm gonna go with the Bills dropping out. I think
they're losing too much talent year to year. Too much
talents exiting.

Speaker 2 (38:30):
Quarterback is super overrated, like dang and a trash dog
or at that I didn't say.

Speaker 5 (38:36):
You guys are just joshing.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
Thank you to man. Got an hour and ten minutes left,
then it's done. Quarterback, thank you to thank you. I'm
gonna say the I'm gonna say the Texans. Oh parade rainer.
I know that is not an official term. Parade rainer. Okay,

(39:01):
NFC Cowboys, Eagles, Lions, Packers, Box, Niners, Rams, Todd.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will drop out of that mix.

Speaker 2 (39:13):
You know, can we take the Buccaneers off the board. Yeah,
let's take the Buccaneers off the board right now.

Speaker 5 (39:19):
Then I'm going to go with the.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
Ram Okay, let's take the Rams off. And I'm gonna
go with the Seaton. Which team does not make the postseason?
I'm gonna be a hey. I want to say the Cowboys,
just because it's fun to watch Cowboys fans wet their pants. However,
I'm gonna be a rain on the parader. Guess the Packers,

(39:46):
the Detroit Lions, America Marvin. Which team does not make
the postseason? The Green Bay Packer, Screen Bay, Oh parade rainer.

Speaker 4 (40:05):
That's catching on real quick.

Speaker 3 (40:08):
The Packers just humiliated the Cowboys and Dallas and the player.

Speaker 2 (40:11):
That's a long time ago time. Remember when the Broncos
used to be all right? Uh so, PAULI.

Speaker 4 (40:19):
Uh, I'm gonna say due to injury, the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (40:23):
Dallas Cowboys, that's the only way a picture.

Speaker 4 (40:25):
It happened.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
Okay, okay, call the injury and the losers have to
get the same injury. So Cowboys, Eagles, Lines, Packers, Bucks, Niners.

Speaker 4 (40:37):
Will you snap your ankle for this bat?

Speaker 2 (40:39):
Yes? Will you snap your ankle for this bit?

Speaker 10 (40:43):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (40:44):
Uh? Man Like the Packers to me feel like the Texans.
It's just I don't know, but I you know, I've
been a big fan of Jordan Love, so I should
stay on that gravy tray. I'm gonna say the rams,

(41:04):
say the rams.

Speaker 4 (41:05):
For everyone else it is Jordan Like, but for you.

Speaker 2 (41:06):
As always, Jordan Love. What's his name? It's Jordan Like.
Oh no, it's Jordan Love. Coming up, we'll rank the quarterbacks.
Should Patrick Mahomes be moved removed from this Let me
try that again. Should Patrick Mahomes be removed from any
quarterback list? Final hour on this Meet Friday, Straight Ahead,
