Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
The Great Darius Rutger will stop by. I had a
wonderful appearance on College Game Day singing Wagon Wheel. I
think we bring Fritzi and Darius together one more time,
one more song. But it's only Hall and Oates. You
don't know any other music, do you?

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (00:21):
You know what? How about a Billy Joel song with
you and Darius Rutger.

Speaker 4 (00:24):
That could be fun.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Okay, why don't you think about a collab with Darius?
And then I'll present that to him? All right, he'll
join us. Coming up? Football, coming up tonight. The Falcons
are getting five and a half against the Eagles. Some
statistical anomalies yesterday. You know, when you think of the Steelers,
the fifth team in history to start out two and
oh scoring one or zero touchdowns. The last team to

(00:48):
do it was twenty four years ago. Anybody want to
wager guests? Twenty four years ago? This team started out
two and oh. Not a team that you would probably
think of of Marvin.

Speaker 5 (01:05):
I was gonna say the Baltimore Ravens.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Paul Detroit Lions Bloom boom, Yes, Detroit Lions started out
two to zero scoring one or zero touchdowns.

Speaker 6 (01:19):
Day startup day, start of the day, Start at the day,
statut the day.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
The excitement is real. When you guys get something right,
it's rare, so it's real excitement. There, best and worst
of the weekend. What you saw that you liked, you
didn't like, we will give you hours coming up. By
the way, Kyler Murray first player in NFL history with
multiple games of throwing for at least two hundred and
fifty yards, rushing for at least fifty yards, and having

(01:47):
at least two passing touchdowns and eighty percent completion percentage.
He had a perfect quarterback rating. Pretty good, pretty good,
And the Rams are in Cooper Cup got banged up,
phukin Nakua is going to be out for least a month,
probably longer, And all of a sudden, Kyler realized that

(02:09):
they have Marvin Harrison Junior the third Yes, Paul, you
know what.

Speaker 7 (02:12):
Bothers people and me and not in that order. About
the perfect quarterback rating, I think it's one fifty eight
point three.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
That it shouldn't it be rounded off?

Speaker 7 (02:21):
Yes, I don't like the point three, right, that's that's
one of the things.

Speaker 8 (02:25):
Okay, But Kyler Murray could have had a better day.

Speaker 7 (02:28):
If you're seventeen for twenty one with three touchdowns, that's great,
and that's a perfect quarterback rating.

Speaker 8 (02:34):
Wouldn't eighteen for.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Twenty one about twenty one for twenty one?

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Right?

Speaker 8 (02:39):
Wouldn't that? There shouldn't be there some room for actual perfection.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
I don't like QBR. I know that, you know they're
stat heads nerds that they love it, but I there
are times when somebody might have a really good quarterback rating,
but it doesn't always translate. And if you're perfect, shouldn't
it be a perfect It's like a gymnast And that's
a perfect score of nine point eight. I mean, that's

(03:05):
what it feels like with a quarterback rating of one
fifty eight point three. Couldn't we come up with a better,
like a nicer number? How about one hundred? Like you're, hey,
it's a perfect quarterback score. It's a hundred. Okay, that's easy.
If I would have said what is a perfect score
for a quarterback? I don't think any of us would

(03:27):
have said one fifty eight point three?

Speaker 8 (03:29):
Hey, timmy, how'd you do on that test? Nailed it?

Speaker 2 (03:31):
One to fifty eight point three excuse me I had
I had a perfect score. I had a fifty eight
point three Dad, congratulations all right? Eight seven seven three
DP show. I got phone calls backed up here. I'll
try to get to those coming up. Good morning. If
you're watching on Peacock. Thank you for downloading the app.
Darius Rucker will join us coming up here momentarily. Al

(03:52):
in Atlanta joins us on the program. Good morning, Al,
Good morning man.

Speaker 9 (03:58):
Best of the weekend since the Falcons have a primetime
game for the first time, and however long I can't remember,
I got to spend the whole day yesterday watching the
Red Zone, and I forgot just how great it was
to not have commercials for seven hours. We'll see if
I still feel the same way about the NFL tomorrow.
Worst of the weekend. Was it the Braves ninth ending

(04:20):
against the Dodgers.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
No?

Speaker 9 (04:22):
Was it that the Checko news that you gave me
that decimated my running back room. No, it was Georgia
against Kentucky.

Speaker 10 (04:29):
I already hate.

Speaker 9 (04:29):
That state enough for trying to arrest me twice already.
First time when I was nine, when an unmarked police
car pulled up on me going the wrong way on
a runway and tried to say I was stealing a car.
I'm running down the street. I mean, I guess that
was my fault because I shouldn't have been running while black.
But it was like, I can't take that, state, can't

(04:50):
take it.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Damn all right, keep your head up out. Did you
say running Wall Black?

Speaker 5 (04:55):
Yes, I'm new even I had heard that one, So
look at that.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
I've heard of DWB. I haven't heard running Wall Black.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
Daw.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Yeah, Al's good. That was funny, Sean and Indy. Hi, Sean,
what's on your mind today?

Speaker 3 (05:09):
Hey? Dan?

Speaker 1 (05:10):
I got a bets and an awful from this weekend.
Best is my son's football team won thirty eight to
nothing at the opposing team spotted a bunch of negative
stuff on social media. Mind you, these are some of the
eight straight kids, so it was even better see him
just get thumped. But the awful is my Bengals fourth

(05:32):
and sixteen. Not only do you not put pressure on
my Holmes, but you pi and lose the game in
dramatic passion.

Speaker 11 (05:40):
Again, I know.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Yeah, that one was tough, Sean, because jim Nantz tried
to make it seem like this was mahomesy and magic
and it wasn't. It was a poor play by a
rookie with the Bengals and he got bailed out and
then Harrison Butker had the field goal. Mahomes didn't great,
But like sometimes it feels like we present it that way.

(06:05):
I'm a Homes. There are times when the Patriots would
win and we'd be like, ah, Brady, hun I go No,
not really, but that's sort of the story we tell.
It's my Homes again. He did it again. He had
through two interceptions, he didn't play well, and they lose
Isaiah Pacheco with a broken leg. Brandon in Arkansas, Hey, Brandon,

(06:26):
what's on your mind today?

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Hey? Good morning? Six foot two ten Dan top best
of the weekend.

Speaker 12 (06:32):
Catching the Detroit Tiger's game on Thursday, diet the home
run ball, playing golf with buddies on Friday, watching Mahama
Mater Arkansas stay get beat by overrated Misgan on Saturday,
and catching a Detroit Lions game yesterday.

Speaker 11 (06:46):
Who had it better than me this weekend?

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Dan?

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Nobody? Well, that's a full weekend, Brandon. Thank you. Barry
in Indiana, Hi Barry.

Speaker 11 (06:57):
Hi, Dan, thanks for taking my call. Yeah. First of all,
best of the weekend, the Indiana Hoosiers annihilated. Wow, a
bad UCLA team, But it's forcing me to recalibrate my
sports history of sixty years of sports history in Indiana.

(07:19):
What are we doing? How could this possibly happen? So
they look like a really good football team. I don't
know how to deal with that.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Well, you had it a few years ago when Michael
Pennix was there, But yeah, I was surprised at the
outcome Indiana over UCLA. Dave and San Antonio, Hi, Dave.

Speaker 13 (07:38):
Hey, good morning guys. I got at Wor's the weekend.

Speaker 14 (07:42):
That's the weekend s winter a Sun's football game down
in Austin. They're down thirty one points. They come back
to beat the team in Austin, and my son catches
a fifty yard snag to set up the game winning touchdowns.

Speaker 13 (07:58):
Worst of the weekend, obviously is a Dallas child. Again.
I got a quick question for you, guys. If you pay,
if your employer's paying you sixty million dollars and all
you scored is three touchdowns in the last two weeks
and eight field goals, do you think you're really worth
sixty million dollars?

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Well, whether he's worth it or not, he's getting paid
that and that's the market value for Dak Prescott. It's
it's early. We're two weeks in and Dak doesn't play defense.
Last I looked, and neither did Dallas yesterday. Yes, Marvin, Nope,
I was just saying, bingo, I agree. Oh you gave

(08:36):
me a big Oh it was.

Speaker 5 (08:38):
A blot from far away.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
All right, Well, thank you. How about we go around
the room see would you give us the update on
the poll results there so far?

Speaker 15 (08:45):
We have some interesting poll questions. Yeah, we got a
few of them up there right now. Most surprising two
and zero team, the Saints have about fifty five percent
of that vote, followed by the Steelers, Chargers and.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Seahawks not even close on that one. Non'll be surprised.

Speaker 15 (08:59):
Okay, we have the Steelers good this year. Seventy four
percent of the audience are saying no, they are not.
Check that it's up to seventy five. And now a
Florida team that has the biggest issues, the Florida State Seminoles,
running away with it, followed not even closely by the
Florida Gators and the Miami Dolphins.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
Oka Seminoles are a mess. And the Saints have scored
forty seven and forty four. If I go back to
Week eighteen last year they scored forty eight, So that'd
be three consecutive games in the forty point area. If
you watch the when you watch the Justin Jefferson touchdown

(09:39):
reception from Sam Darnold, watch the referee. That is my
best of the weekend. That referee has got some wheels.
He stays up with Justin Jefferson. At one point towards
the end zone, he kind of spins around like a
defensive back. It is out of everything that Sam's throw,

(10:01):
Justin's catch. The official running is the most impressive thing
in that play. So the next time you see it,
you watch because that official. We got to get that
official on. Gotta get him on. He probably was a
running back in high school. He's running a four to three.

Speaker 11 (10:17):
He's easy.

Speaker 2 (10:17):
I'm gonna say he probably is a four to four
guy right now, and he's probably in his uh maybe
mid forties. All right, let's go around the room, uh
todd Best and worst of the weekend.

Speaker 16 (10:28):
Best Texas qb arch Manning comes in for the injured Quinn.
Viewers throw us at two hundred and twenty three yards
four tds No Picks also had that sixty seven yard
touchdown run. Worst Kent State, Ball State, and Purdue for
losing Sally by a command score of one hundred and
ninety nine to seven against Tennessee Miami and Notre Dame respectively.

Speaker 15 (10:46):
Not noured Dame Seaton best and worst of the weekend.
My best of the weekend is Brian Flores. I don't
know if a dude is ever going to get a
head coaching job again, but he knows how to coach
a defense for sure. And there's not a lot of
people who could do or make the four Niners look
the way that the Vikings did this week. So that's
a big credit to him. Okay, my worst of the
weekend is the Broncos offense. Wow, they're just not good

(11:11):
and not looking better at all.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Mm hmmmm. Well, Todd didn't say us or we, he
said them.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
I distanced myself.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
You did another punt fest. Now you can't go back
to we.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
They're still we.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
No, no, no, no, no, they're still we. No, They're
still we. They're still there.

Speaker 8 (11:34):
That's a sure.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (11:36):
I'm still supporting them, and I'm gonna watch every play every.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
Week they're still we it's all going to fifteen games,
and what are your pronouns?

Speaker 3 (11:44):
There?

Speaker 2 (11:44):
We Marvin, best and worst of the weekend?

Speaker 5 (11:49):
Alright, best of the weekend early Septem VP. JK. Dobbins
are the Chargers seventeen carries, one thirty one.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Now tomorrow mid Septem VP. He snorted a mid Septem
VP poll tomorrow. Okay, Martin, so JK. Dobbins is in there,
he should be. And worse of the weekend.

Speaker 5 (12:12):
I know they won, but the Commander's offense zero for
six in the red zone.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
No bueno kicker was good.

Speaker 5 (12:20):
Oh he was great.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
By the way, Malik Neighbors was targeted eighteen times, so
sixty seven percent of his team's targets went to Melik Neighbors.
I'm all for it. He's a wonderful player. That's the
highest percentage by a rookie since two thousand and nine.

Speaker 17 (12:39):
But stoved, Okay, that pass stat of the day, stat
of the day, it comes that what stat of the day?

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Also I mentioned this earlier. Caleb Williams, Jade and Daniels
Bownicks have combined for zero passing touchdowns, three rushing touchdowns
six interceptions, passer rating of sixty four. All right, Paulie,
Best and worst of the weekend.

Speaker 7 (13:05):
Best of the weekend, Another great week for mac football.
Toledo goes down to Mississippi State, Wow, and drops forty
one on Mississippi State. What is going on down there?
That's what they're asking today, Dan. And then the worst
of the weekend, South Carolina game Cocks had LSU. Now
there's a play late in the game where South Carolina
gets a pick six. They're gonna go up two scores

(13:26):
with six minutes to go. One of the defenders for
South Carolina pops the quarterback and he got called for
a necessary roughness. The quarterback was running towards the play
to make the tackle. He didn't do headshot, he didn't
go blindside. It was just a hard shot to block
the quarterback. Why is that a penalty?

Speaker 2 (13:45):
PAULI came up with an idea. If you're not allowed
to hit the quarterback, the quarterback is not allowed to
make a tackle.

Speaker 7 (13:51):
On the interception. The quarterback has to stand motionless and
not engaged.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
He has to take a knee.

Speaker 4 (13:56):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
I didn't think it was an aggressive move. Was it necessary?

Speaker 15 (14:03):
No?

Speaker 2 (14:04):
But the quarterback is engaged in trying to go for
the tackle. I mean, if you're going to be doing
that and not just standing stationary, then you're a football player.
So I thought that was a bad call. There also
mentioned this that Tua has no plans to retire. Ian
Rappaport reported that already eyeing a return and has already

(14:30):
begun seeing specialist. If you miss Steve Young last hour
on this topic, I thought it was great, very insightful.
Steve had multiple concussions when he played and talks about
what it's like to be or what might be like
to be twenty six facing this after having all these concussions.
And if you miss anything, you can go to Danpatrick

(14:51):
dot com and hear replay of interviews and the entire show.
More phone calls coming up. And Darius Rutger that had
a great week. Well he's sort of had a great
weekend his game, Cocks losing, but he got to perform
on college game Day and uh Nick Saban singing along
with wagon Wheel. We'll take a break, We'll come back

(15:12):
to Darius and see if Darius wants to sing one
more time with Fritzy. Did you pick out a Billy Joelson.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
I did.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
Okay, don't tell me yet, ok because I'm going to guess,
and I hope that Darius, if he wants to do this,
maybe you should tell him.

Speaker 16 (15:28):
I actually send something to the PR person because I
think it's fair to give a heads up if he's
into it and is familiar enough with the song I pick, which.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
I don't think you're going to guess and Darius just canceled.
You will join us three weeks now. No, No, I'm kidding,
I'm kidding, kidding. Take a break. We're back after this.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Today's Mercedes Benz Interview the Day brought to you by
Mercedes Benz. Mercedes Benz has an SUV for you. Visit
MBUSA dot com for special offers. Darius Rutger, he was
busy this weekend. First of all, Dolphins not good. South
Carolina blows a seventeen point lead. But you got to

(17:29):
sing on college game day and Nick Saban singing along
with you. So overall, how was the past week or
so awful?

Speaker 3 (17:39):
I lost both my quarterback.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
That is true.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
I love both my quarterback. We should have been the
LSU but you know, not going to complain about the officiating.

Speaker 6 (17:50):
We lost the game. We should We had a seventeen
point leading. It was tough tough to take.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
We complained about the officiating because I don't know how
you call a penalty on knocking the quarterback over and
after he throws an interception.

Speaker 6 (18:03):
That one in the offensive path of appearance were the
two that I just I don't know where those came from.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
It was it was tough to take, man, tough to take.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
We had that game won, and then your Dolphins tool
man too get heard man.

Speaker 6 (18:17):
Not a concussion, you know, and it's and I thought
we were going to super Bowl again this year.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
And I thought we were going to super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
Okay, who do you think is going to have a
better year the Dolphins or South Carolina.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
Oh goodness, Well, if the game it win six games,
we made.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Probably Okay, So all you're saying is give us six wins.
You're good with South Carolina. You've won the super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
Give me something to do in January. That's all about.
Give me something to do in January.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
How is the atmosphere? How does the atmosphere factor in
on playing music with that kind of crowd. It's it's
different than playing I guess a concert with Hooty and
the Blowfish.

Speaker 3 (19:07):
Oh absolutely.

Speaker 6 (19:08):
I mean those kids, first of all, they're drunk, They're
all they're drunk early in the morning.

Speaker 3 (19:12):
And you know they have a good time. But you know,
that's that's my constituency.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
Man.

Speaker 6 (19:16):
You know, I was such a big gamest support and
everybody gives me gives me so much love there.

Speaker 3 (19:20):
So it was actually pretty.

Speaker 9 (19:21):
All love it.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
But are you nervous?

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Of course, Well you're nervous about it. You don't know
what it sounds like on TV?

Speaker 6 (19:28):
Oh okay, you know, and we played some shows on
TV that just sounded like crap, you know, So you're
nervous about that.

Speaker 3 (19:33):
But you know, there's two songs.

Speaker 6 (19:34):
You can go out there and play those anytime, but
Beer's and such, and I'd never played that on guitar before,
so it's kind.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
Of nervous about.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
The sound was great on TV, That's what everybody.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
Said, which made me so happy.

Speaker 6 (19:45):
I mean, I guess ESP has done it so much
now they got it down on the science, but everybody
said it sounded great, So that made me happy.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
And then you guys just celebrated the thirtieth anniversary of
you guys on Letterman and yeah, that was like a
couple of weeks ago. So was like you were Friday
on Letterman and then world famous on Monday or something.

Speaker 6 (20:07):
People people say it so that simple, really that simple,
like that Thursday we couldn't get a station outside of
the Carolinas at our song, and that Monday we were
most added for the next four weeks. And you know,
then next thing, you know, we're, yeah, we're number one.
All of a sudden, the other let them changed our lives.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
Man, I was going to say, without that Letterman appearance,
what happened.

Speaker 3 (20:28):
Nobody knows who we are.

Speaker 6 (20:29):
Nobody knows who we are, no doubt about it, nobody
We're not where we are right now.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
I probably don't even know you.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
Yeah, I wouldn't want to know you until you got famous.
Then I got all right, I'll meet with him, all right,
you talk.

Speaker 6 (20:49):
What I made you video made it didn't That's the
reason you put me in there.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
I was already famous, right, Darius. Darius has a new
single with Jennifer Nettles. It's called Never Been Over. And
then you guys are winding down the Hoody and the
Blowfish Tour Charleston Festival that's October eleventh and twelfth, and right,
but yep, okay, are you playing both days in Charleston.

Speaker 6 (21:17):
Well, they're playing one. We're playing one. The Desky Trucks
band has had.

Speaker 2 (21:21):
Lundon Okay, yeah, yeah, And then you're done Hoodies.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
Yeah, that's it. We're done for I don't know.

Speaker 6 (21:27):
I don't know if we'll ever do this again, but
if we do, it'll be a long a lot of
long time from now.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
And no fights, no fights at all.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
Great tour.

Speaker 6 (21:35):
Really had a lot of fun, you know, play, we
played some golf together. It hung out a little bit,
but no fights. We all got along great. And the music,
I mean, the crowds of the word, the crowds are incredible.

Speaker 3 (21:46):
It was. It was great.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
But I saw James Addiction in Massachusetts and they're they're
going toe to toe on the stage. Did you guys
ever get close to fighting each other on stage? Never
on stage, never on backstage?

Speaker 3 (22:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (22:02):
Actually on Mark Sports one day we Mark and.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
Yeah, but we've never What I saw that was that
was shocking.

Speaker 6 (22:13):
Yeah, I mean that being a band and playing in
a band and then you find out the reason the yelling.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
Because because they were too loud. Wow, you're playing rock
and roll man Jean's addiction that you're back and we're
too loud.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
So we've gotten a lot of mileage out of Fritzy
singing with you. You were kind enough to let him
sing two songs, and uh I I kept telling Todd
one song, one song, do just one song, and he said, no,
I want to do too, And Marvin, let's bring let's
refresh Darius's memory of how Fritzy sounded when he joined

(22:49):
him in Bridgeport, Connecticut on the side. Okay, but you

(23:09):
had to feel great when Todd stopped singing, because you
sounded even better.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
Not at all. I'll tell you. We were at soud
check and he started singing and the band was shocked
at how good he shounded like.

Speaker 6 (23:23):
The band were like, oh, did you expect people to
call there be really bad? Has got a really good voice.
It was shocking how good he was.

Speaker 15 (23:30):
So yeah, see, Darius, is this one of those situations
that you were referring to earlier where it sounds terrible
on TV but in person it was awesome.

Speaker 2 (23:44):
I wasn't sure if that. I'm like, oh, we're witnessing
that right now. Yeah, it sounds bad on TV, but
there it was awesome. Yeah, it was awesome live.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
You were awesome.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
No, he was not. So this might be the last
time that you guys collect can collaborate. So, just like
Cooting the Blowfish, this might be it. But I'm I'm
gonna let you decide if you want to do this.
You don't have to do this, But Todd I said,
we're not doing Holly Oats. I said, maybe pick a

(24:14):
Billy Joel song, and.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
I went with the matter of trust.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Well, this, Darius, no matter of trust.

Speaker 4 (24:21):
I hope.

Speaker 16 (24:22):
So I sent a note to his wonderful pr person.
I don't know if he got it in time, but
a few bars of a matter of trust.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
You go ahead kick it because he's a young guy.

Speaker 6 (24:30):
They picked like a matter of trust, like us old
guys will be picking like she's always a woman or something.

Speaker 3 (24:35):
He's gonna pick matal of trust. Go ahead, you kick it,
You kick it, pritsy.

Speaker 4 (24:38):
One two, one, two three four. Some lover is just
a lie of a heart. The code remains of what
begun with the passion. It's not and they may not
wanted to wan murt it will.

Speaker 5 (24:56):
It's just a question of when I've lived long and dude, learn.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
The closer way. Darius isn't singing, he's just let well
let it.

Speaker 3 (25:09):
When he's I believe it with like kill with a smile.

Speaker 20 (25:13):
With her eyes, you can ruin your face with her
casual line. And she always reels what she wants you
to see. Yeah, she steals like a thief, but she's
always a woman.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
To me, take care, you can wait if she wants.

Speaker 4 (25:30):
She's ahead of her.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
Time that.

Speaker 4 (25:34):
She never gives in. She just changes her life sim
than the garden is.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
There a lot of times you'll hear band like Robert
Plant with led Zeppelin. There were notes that he could
sing when he's twenty five, but you know, you get
to be forty five or fifty, like, is there any
anything that you It's hard to sing now, but when
you were twenty four, you're like, I'm killing this.

Speaker 6 (26:04):
The thing is I did on purpose when we recorded records,
I wouldn't do anything that was I thought later on
I wouldn't be able to do, like.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
Even when I was making a country, I'll never get it.
And uh my producer was like, man, just hit the
high note. And I was like, man, I'm not gonna
hit the high though. He was like, hey, I'll make
you it sound great and I was like no, He's like.
I was like why. It's like because in ten years
I'm not gonna be able to so I'm not even
gonna try it.

Speaker 6 (26:24):
So, no, everything I did back then was right there,
just because I knew when I was older, I keep
singing it.

Speaker 2 (26:30):
I've been singing the High Cost of Living Ain't nothing
like the Cost of Living High?

Speaker 3 (26:36):
One of the great songs I it is.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
So what is that? Jamie Johnson? Is that Jammy Johnson?
Jamie h my god, yeah it is a The lyrics
are awesome in.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
There, unbelievable. I traded it, oh man.

Speaker 2 (26:53):
That whole song' no no, you were gonna do it?
I traded it all for eight ball in four cocaine.
Or yes, I had a job with.

Speaker 3 (27:03):
A piece of land.

Speaker 6 (27:04):
My sweet woman was my best friend, and I trade
it all cocaine.

Speaker 2 (27:11):
But do you have those moments where you go, well,
that sounds like a country song, like something happens to
you or somebody to know, and you go, damn, that
sounds like a country song.

Speaker 3 (27:22):
Absolutely absolutely.

Speaker 6 (27:23):
You know, a guy told me the day that he
made up with a girl and he found out later
on it was a cousin that.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
Country song.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Friends lovers and cousins. There you go, there you go.
It writes itself. I always send Darius music titles song titles,
and then I go there, that's the hard part. Now
go do the song. And then he goes do that.
I do. I do. I'm telling you, I got whiskey
in my smile.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
That's actually that you sent me that one. I think
I'm gonna write that one.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
You should because I think, yeah, because if not, Chris
Stapleton's going to that's gonna be a hit. So I'm
giving you first DIBs on that because then I'll give
it to Chris Stapleton. All right, once again, if you
want to see Hoody and the Blowfish. The tour is
coming to an end Charleston Festival. They'll be performing on

(28:21):
October twelfth. Great to see it and thanks for joining
us as always, always good to see you. That I
love you. That's a Darius rucord. So that's it, final
collaboration kinda.

Speaker 4 (28:34):
I'll take it. That was very cool. He was extremely
good sport to allowing me to do.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
He's always a great sport to let you sing two songs.

Speaker 4 (28:42):
Even one. You both could have easily said no, this
isn't no.

Speaker 2 (28:44):
I did say one.

Speaker 4 (28:45):
No, I mean it could have been zero.

Speaker 16 (28:47):
But the fact that he let me even go out
there at all, and you orchestrated that to let me
sing at Darius Orcus concerts and singing.

Speaker 7 (28:53):
Yes point you know, Billy Joel might be Fritzy's lane
as far as like the eighties style of singing.

Speaker 15 (29:00):
And his like he's able to stay within a certain
range there red Daryl Hall goes up, yeah, yeah, yeah,
that's it.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
Daryl's got that philly sound and he goes up a
little too high and uh, you're you're not there, but
but solid Billy Joel.

Speaker 4 (29:19):
I'll take it.

Speaker 7 (29:20):
A wonky song choice though. That's a somewhat modern billy Joel,
if there is such a thing.

Speaker 2 (29:25):
Yeah, you're usually like glass houses.

Speaker 4 (29:27):
Yeah, I was thinking still rock and roll to me?
Or you may be right?

Speaker 5 (29:31):
Yes, is Darry's coming with us on another field trip?
Like Will Ferrell?

Speaker 2 (29:35):
Dude, Oh, I don't know.

Speaker 15 (29:37):
That'd be sick. Let's go somewhere and have Darius come.
That'd be rad. He's a good time, he's fun to
hang out.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
Well, I think the last thing let's do is go
on a road trip after being on the road here
for last we.

Speaker 5 (29:49):
Go down to South Carolina. Oh so it's a home game.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
Yeah, maybe Nashville. He kind of splits time between South
Carolina Nashville. But I do send him song titles, and
I had one in my head for over a year.
I got Whiskey in my smile.

Speaker 5 (30:06):
It's great.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
It's a great song title. And then whatever you do,
you know, got Whiskey in my smile. You can see
it for a mile. It's gonna be there for a while.
I got Whiskey in my smile. You're giving away the magic.
Well it's a good title.

Speaker 7 (30:22):
Oh oh oh you didn't like the chorus.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
Wow, Well it's a good title. Damn ouch, that one
actually hurt. You know, I could never lay off the joke.
If it's there, you can't say I know, but it wasn't.
I wasn't trying to sing as much as I've just
given you the lyric. Yeah, Yeah, that's not a good
song title. Yeah, how about we take a break, I

(30:48):
smack somebody. We'll take a break Glasgow for phone calls?

This day in Sports History? Final results of the poll
question last call for phone calls. Saquon Barkley set to

plays tonight against the Falcons.

Speaker 16 (31:48):
I am under the oppression that's a win or lose thing,
and that he's coming on after Monday and a football
a rare early appearance the next day.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
How about we who thinks Saquon Barkley will join us tomorrow?
I mean win or lose.

Speaker 4 (32:03):
Oh, he's a stand up guy, so.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
Everybody, I think he's on the show tomorrow. Okay, he's
a fan of the show. I know he asked me
about getting an internship and how to get into TV.
That that was a couple of years ago that he
brought that up to me. All right, say yes, I
think sa Quon Barkley will join us.

Speaker 16 (32:23):
We have been in those situations there where things don't
go well and all of a sudden the guest disappears
in US.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
Okay, well it would be nice, yes, Paul.

Speaker 7 (32:29):
We once booked remember Steve Smith, the great wide receiver
from the Carolina Smith the Panthers. We booked him for
the Monday after the Super Bowl. It was with a Carolina.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
Line of New England, New England.

Speaker 7 (32:42):
He honored his commitment and came on that Monday. That
was after a loss. That was shocking.

Speaker 11 (32:47):
That was a great game.

Speaker 5 (32:50):
That was great, great second half.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
Yeah, yeah, it was exciting, it was fighting.

Speaker 4 (32:56):
And he's coming on our show Wednesday, Steve Smith Senior.
How about that we were talking about Steve Smith.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
He's coming on with thank you to Let's see how
about you write the headline today for tomorrow Eagles, Falcons, todd.

Speaker 4 (33:17):
All, Barkley and all bities.

Speaker 16 (33:19):
I'm gonna give a shout out to our guests tomorrow
and he's gonna run ramping and get a couple.

Speaker 4 (33:22):
Of t D runs.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
I thought you were gonna do like kissing your cousins.

Speaker 4 (33:26):
Yeah, well, he's not very good in prime time.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
This is not No, he's not, and he hasn't gotten
any faster either. It's not a seating. Tomorrow's headline today,
it's gonna be the thief Bird for Thooring.

Speaker 5 (33:46):
Marvin Captain Kirk Falcon's upset the Eagles.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Okay, I don't think you believe that?

Speaker 5 (33:54):
No, No, not won't.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
Okay, Okay, Paul, do you have a headline.

Speaker 7 (33:58):
This fritzy asque hey nice Pennix Falcons backup, takes down
the Eagles.

Speaker 4 (34:04):
Hey, Siriani, what happened last night?

Speaker 7 (34:07):
Okay, Sirianni, I'm gonna give you a bloop on that.

Speaker 2 (34:13):
Next I'll give you a bloop.

Speaker 21 (34:18):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (34:19):
Johnny in South Carolina? Hi, john what's on your mind today?

Speaker 22 (34:25):
One thing, guys, I just had a best of the
worst of the weekend. All right, best was the Coastal
Carolina Sean Clair's going up to Lincoln Financial Field in
Philadelphia and taking out the Temple Owles. And then my
worst was I believe I heard McAfee drop a hoodie
on Narius on game day on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
Yeah, he did, he did.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
He did.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
Darius that hates that, But McAfee probably doesn't know any better.
Uhlito in Kentucky, hilto what's on your mind?

Speaker 10 (34:55):
Hy Dan?

Speaker 11 (34:56):
Five to ten?

Speaker 13 (34:57):
Juicy warned fifty I kind of.

Speaker 10 (35:03):
Have a hot take, but I feel.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
Like it's the truth.

Speaker 23 (35:07):
I feel like Bears fans are in big trouble. I
really don't think Caleb Williams is going to be the answer,
and I feel like they're gonna be regretting letting go
of Justin Field. He's going to have the better career
and as sitting here on hold.

Speaker 10 (35:25):
Liking to talk to you.

Speaker 21 (35:26):
If you wanted to.

Speaker 23 (35:28):
Take that bet that Justin Field's will make a Pro
Bowl before Caleb Williams.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
PAULI will Yeah, I'll take it. Yeah. And once again,
this is two weeks. They have to get like blocking assignments.
You know they brought in, They've changed their line. Caleb
has to understand what he can and can't do with them.
They if they win that game. I don't know if
anybody's saying anything about that, but yes, the offensive line
that is paramount to Caleb Williams having a successful year

(35:59):
because look at what happened to Andrew. Look they finally
got him a line. Then you got to see how
grad he was. But he was so banged up from
all those years of not having an offensive line that
led to his retirement. Donovan in Iowa, Hi Donovan, what's
on your mind?

Speaker 10 (36:14):
Hey Dan?

Speaker 13 (36:15):
Six two one fifty saw.

Speaker 10 (36:19):
Hey Dan, thanks for taking my call.

Speaker 13 (36:22):
Hey uh?

Speaker 21 (36:23):
I got best and Worris the weekend. My worst is
I had to cut down some trees for my dad.
So I back with her and a good thing.

Speaker 10 (36:31):
I gotta sit down on the couch and watch the
Bears and Cowboys lose.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
Thank you, don No No a bad bag, but I
got to sit down on the couch watch the Bears
and countlessness. David in Ohio, Hi David, what's on your
mine today?

Speaker 21 (36:53):
Far ten two twenty Best of the weekend? Tamar Steelers
beat Fritzy's Broncos. All right, and I'm also wondering how
To's feeling after being sick last week.

Speaker 2 (37:09):
Thank you, Okay, that's very nice.

Speaker 16 (37:12):
So just as I was starting to feel better, I
started getting sick to my stomach watching the Broncos have
punt fest and go three and out and not to
score until ten minutes left in the fourth quarter of
their home opener.

Speaker 2 (37:21):
I think ten forty two a.

Speaker 4 (37:25):
Couple of field goals, that's all they have to show
for their home opener.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
Yeah, you know, I'm going to reserve judgment. I'm gonna
wait a couple of weeks. Let's see if bo Nicks
can kind of figure it out.

Speaker 4 (37:39):
They really need to get it together.

Speaker 2 (37:40):
They they they need to get it together.

Speaker 16 (37:42):
We and they get to go to Tampa against a
very good Buccaneer team week three.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
I think after four weeks we'll get a better like
October is Judgment month. It feels like new term, October
Judgment month.

Speaker 5 (37:57):
Judgment.

Speaker 3 (37:58):
Yeah, you can't.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
Make judgments in September, but in October it's judgment month.
Sounds impressive. I'm into it. Yeah, I like Judgment Month.

Speaker 11 (38:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
Keemo in Virginia Beach is back, Hi Keema.

Speaker 3 (38:15):
Big s.

Speaker 10 (38:18):
Oh hey damn look best and Morris I was working on.
I sat down to my big bowl of hauling Oats
Medley this morning. More old c but you know, less
haul they but I'm with Gus. Say made the best
start of the week. Shay's little sheepish appearance as usual,

(38:39):
but it got me thinking who needs more keeper?

Speaker 11 (38:42):
Chin up?

Speaker 10 (38:43):
Say or Darius?

Speaker 2 (38:46):
Yeah, Darius, that's pretty rough when you you lose Touah
in South Carolina and loses in dramatic fashion. But he
would did get to go on college game day. I mean,
Shaye didn't have anything below is Texas Longhorns won this
day and sports history.

Speaker 7 (39:05):
Paul nineteen twenty four, Jim Bottomley knocked in twelve runs
in a single game, still the Major League Baseball record.
Twelve RBI RBI RBI's where do you guys?

Speaker 2 (39:15):
I'm an RBI guy, I still say RBIs because it's
runs bated in.

Speaker 8 (39:22):
But if you said, man, that bottomly had twelve ribi.

Speaker 2 (39:25):
Yeah, you could say, you know, but I would say
would be rsbi's that's the one. But how many RSBI
did he have?

Speaker 7 (39:36):
Nineteen fifty three, the Saint Louis Browns of the al
were given permission and moved to Baltimore. They became the
Baltimore Orioles. And lastly, nineteen eighty eight, Tom Browning twelve
perfect game in Major League Baseball for the Cincinnati Reds.

Speaker 8 (39:50):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
On this date in nineteen eighty three, this famous actor
becomes a US citizen. Nineteen eighty three. Not known for
his acting at the time, Marvin.

Speaker 15 (40:09):
Arnold Swarzenegger, halloop loop wow, so he said, not known
for his acting.

Speaker 2 (40:14):
Well, back then he wasn't an actor. He was a bodybuilder.

Speaker 15 (40:16):
Okay, he hadn't established the.

Speaker 2 (40:20):
Resume of the superior. Yes, yes, that's being maybe he
was doing Cone in the Barbarian back then.

Speaker 17 (40:27):
Height.

Speaker 15 (40:27):
Those are awesome movies, were they? Those were again movies
that I remember watching several times, like when I would
stay home from sick from school, like oh, Conyn's on,
let's what's.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
That on this date in nineteen eighty nine. Rocket Ismail
two kickoffs, return for touchdowns Notre Dame beats Michigan twenty
four nineteen. That's it. Now, it's time to go around
the infield here. What did you learn on the program?

Speaker 3 (40:54):
Todd?

Speaker 4 (40:55):
I got Whiskey in my Smile, A great title by you.
You're hopeful Darius or maybe Chris Stapleton perform.

Speaker 11 (41:00):
It some days?

Speaker 2 (41:00):
Yeah, probably preferably preferably Chris Stapleton, you know, because as
Darius said, then it'll be a hit.

Speaker 10 (41:08):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
Well he's you know, he's a prolific songwriter, so he
might be able to dress it up a little bit.

Speaker 15 (41:14):
See Darius said, Todd can sing. He's just being polite,
you know, he wasn't he said that you can sing.
He didn't say he can sing well or good. He
just said Todd can sing. I think the inference was
that Todd Fritz is a good sing Thank you, Marvin.

Speaker 2 (41:30):
What did you learn?

Speaker 5 (41:31):
You don't like the QBR stack?

Speaker 2 (41:34):
What did I learn today?

Speaker 3 (41:35):
Todd?

Speaker 16 (41:35):
We spent so much time getting excited about sex. We
should be acknowledging hurries a lot more than we can.
