Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio. It's our one on this Tuesday. Or is
it a Wednesday or is it a Thursday. I'm not
quite sure. Morale is high. I might need too come
on in, stay a while. It is a Wednesday, correct,
it's a non football day. Okay, So it's a Wednesday
(00:21):
all day. It's gonna be Wednesday eighteenth. Okay, come on in,
stay a while if you'd like. I'm going to for
the next three hours.
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Yes, Paul, you know I bring this up every year.
It's fall, even though it's it's not for a few
more days.
Speaker 3 (00:37):
Technically it's not fall, but it feels like fall.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Once college football starts its fall. Oh, that should be
some type of law in America, okay or NFL or
college football starts.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Isn't there a solstice? Todd that we need to worry about?
Speaker 4 (00:52):
There are solstices, it's usually like the twenty seconds or
something like that style.
Speaker 5 (00:57):
All and winter.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
So singular plural with your.
Speaker 5 (00:59):
Soul Stae I liked, but I think it's so.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
I think that's what you have in your eye. You
have a soul steyde yes s.
Speaker 6 (01:06):
College football feels way more fall than the NFL does.
College football is like Autumn Classic. The NFL is like,
uh yeah, yeah, same time.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
But it's not really a fall sport. Well, you get
to walk on a campus in the fall, you know
with the football. With the NFL, you just go to
a stadium, So you get to When we went to
Notre Dame USC, we were on campus and it was fall. Like, yes,
you don't go on to campus for.
Speaker 6 (01:34):
Difference, isn't it The campus is difference, Yes, yes, Paul.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Right, but fall starts September first. But we also don't
like college football that starts in August. It feels very weird.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
That is true. That is a summer. Yeah, I'm not
an August guy. Yeah, alrighty, all right, the show is
already in progress. Here. Stat of the Day brought to
you by India America, the official trading cards of the program,
whole question, Play of the Day, stat of the Day,
all of that fourth comet. See and you look like
you're poised to say something.
Speaker 6 (02:02):
You want to go early hour one poll question?
Speaker 3 (02:04):
What day is it?
Speaker 6 (02:05):
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
If you're watching on Peacock, we apologize.
Speaker 6 (02:11):
What days today? Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Yeah, early poll question.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
I don't know. It just felt like a Tuesday. I
don't know. Maybe I don't want to let go of Tuesday.
I had a great Tuesday. I don't know what is
in store on Wednesday. I got blood drawn yesterday. Oh yeah,
I had to get you know, so I'm getting my
shoulder cut on and I had to get some blood. Yeah. Yeah,
so I'm getting I had to go in and get
(02:36):
one of those pre opt things or they had to
you know, check my blood and EKG and all those things.
So I had the person come to my house. Well,
the problem is is I have a Yeah, the person
drawing my blood came to my house like tire rack
with your tires, Yes, kind of.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Like that, i'd I honestly never heard of this.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
I think they're called a pled bottomist, something like that
flop flop.
Speaker 5 (03:01):
I believe, so flip fla bottom but it begins with
a P. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Oh so it's p h like flip bottoms. Okay, okay,
uh so yeah, she came over and she is getting
ready to draw blood. Well, the problem is I have
a very active puppy, and when he wanted to sit
in my lap while I got my blood taken, and
I thought, this is going to go horribly wrong, like
I'm gonna get you know, she's gonna be looking for
(03:25):
a vein, and my puppy is going to be, you know,
banging my arm around. So eventually got the blood work done.
Now I had to fast yesterday during the show. You
guys might not have been aware of this. I didn't
have anything to eat during yesterday's show. Well, I have
that condition.
Speaker 7 (03:42):
What is it?
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Vase o vase?
Speaker 5 (03:44):
Oh, my wife has that. You could pass out from
getting your blood d're own?
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Yes, And it's not the sight of the needle. It's
the feeling of the blood coming out of me, Like
I lose energy. So I say to the woman with
my puppy on my lap. And the worst thing they
do is when they put the rubber strap around your arm,
like that's when you start to lose me a little bit,
and then they tighten it a little bit. So I said,
(04:08):
she goes any conditions, I go, yeah, I've passed out before,
and she goes, oh, well, thank you for telling me.
I said yeah. I said I'm not proud of it.
I don't think anybody is. And then I told her
some stories where I've passed out before. And then the
person who was drawing my blood goes, you weren't lying,
and I go, why would I lie about passing out?
So I got my blood drawn, winning stayed kind of
(04:33):
stable there with me stationary, and I stood up. Didn't
pass out there you go, got wobbly, got a little
and she goes, I think you better sit down. So
I said, I'm gonna have some orange juice. But once again,
I'm a warrior. Hashtag warrior was my nickname in high school.
Protocol I'm good, I'm good, So a little little uh
(04:57):
like sugar and I was good to go. Yes, Paul,
you didn't.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Eat by choice before the blood test? Was ay?
Speaker 3 (05:03):
They said to fast fast and I said okay. So
I did fast all you know, twelve hours and then
got my blood taken. But I think everything's okay, and
then I'll have surgery. Now I did ask the doctor.
I said, could you perform the surgery after the show
on a Friday. He said, well, we normally don't do
(05:23):
surgeries friday after do it? I said, well, I'm not normal.
I have to entertain a nation and then I have
to get my shoulder the tended to so he's going
to do that in a couple of weeks, just so
I'll get the surgery and then I'll be back in
on Monday once again. Hashtag warrior.
Speaker 5 (05:43):
Yes, Tom, that's impressive that usually the doctors like to
be on their yacht bay around one two o'clock on Friday.
I'm shocking he's sitting around.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
I don't know if my doctor has a yacht. No,
I don't think so. But once again, got to get
you know, just a little go in there and then
I kind of clean it up a little bit as
they like to say.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
Yes, paul can we get you a nice sling for
the Monday?
Speaker 3 (06:01):
I think, I'm well. He said you'll be in a
sling for a couple of days, and I said I
might have to milk it for a third day on Monday.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
We can get you something nice, maybe a sponsorship on it.
Speaker 5 (06:10):
You know.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
I told Paulie about getting surgery, and he goes, would
he do it on Eric? Can we watch it? And
I go, no, no, no, I gotta get surgery on
my arm. I ask, yeah, and uh, Todd thought it
was from pat myself on the back and that's just
a question. It took a questions. My right arm, that's
(06:32):
the one that that would need surgically repairs. So thank you,
Tom okay dang. I don't know how we got I sidetracked.
The show covered a lot there. It is a Wednesday.
I did give blood yesterday, and uh, hashtag warrior, I'm
ready to go.
Speaker 5 (06:50):
Yes, you had to get but I didn't give blood.
Do they had to take your blood to.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
See what up? I was fighting them now. I don't
know what they do with it, but I I gave blood.
They got blood.
Speaker 5 (07:03):
Giving blood suggests that you don't at someone that needed it, but.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
They didn't need it to I guess, analyze, make sure
I'm going to be okay for surgery. I didn't ask
any questions. I just wanted them in and out and uh,
hopefully I didn't faint.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Yes, Paul, would it be great to know if you're
getting blood from like a celebrity. Let's say you go
in for surgery and you need a little blood and
you're like, holy wow, that's Paul Rudd's blood. You know
it's hanging there. That'd be fantastic to know.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
You could go through like a meat locker again. You
just see all of these bags Jessica Bele. Wow, I'll
take that. Be great, Yeah, I'll take two pints. Yes, Tom,
would you somehow.
Speaker 5 (07:38):
Get the personality traits of someone's blood once it's in
your system?
Speaker 3 (07:42):
Hm? But what if you got a kidney from somebody
and you took on their personality that's from a kidney? Well,
I don't know if you get something, if somebody gives
you something, I mean that's somebody who's alive, gives you
a kidney, so then you might take on their treats.
Speaker 5 (08:01):
That would be fascinating.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
Like, there's donors, you know, when you die, like I'm
going to donate my body, you know, I'll be a
donor and rightfully so somebody else should share in all
of this. But are you guys donors? Like on your
license plate you guys? No, no donors?
Speaker 5 (08:20):
I think so?
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Thank you, Marvin, Yeah, I think so. Yeah. Was that
one of those where you go, yeah, I think so,
I'm signing up for something here, I think, yeah, sure,
you know what if you could use them take them? Yeah?
Well that's that was my point is. I don't know
if anybody wants this, but if you do. Two bad shoulders,
too bad knees, bad eyes, uh Man, I've been concussed before. Yes, Todd,
(08:46):
have you ever.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
Been afraid of an afterlife where you're like, now I
can't see or hear and I can't I don't have
my kidneys or anything this after life And you gave
away all your organs and somehow you find out later
on you really should have held on.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
To that stuff.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
Are you afraid? I am, But you're not giving it up.
You're not giving up anything.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
I don't know what I have to check that. I
honestly have to check the box.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
No, no, no, I know what you should not should
I don't think they'd want Mike. No, I'm just gonna
say no, I have no problem with you saying that
you're not giving up pieces of there.
Speaker 5 (09:17):
There's some things that would probably make even worse for them.
They're better without it.
Speaker 6 (09:19):
All.
Speaker 3 (09:19):

the day poll question once again. Good morning. If you're

(10:03):
Fox Sports Radio, and in some places ESPN Radio as well. Seeton.
What's the poll question you are pondering for the first hour, Well,
I could give you early results. What day is today?
Speaker 8 (10:16):
Right now?
Speaker 6 (10:16):
Eighty five percent of the audience are saying Wednesday, followed
closely by Thursday. Tuesday is a distant third. Most people
know that it is Wednesday. The very first response to
that question, by the way, was just someone writing nine
oh six am. I don't really know why, okay, but
(10:37):
it's pretty great. Well good. I needed to know what
time it was as well. Yeah, well at that time
it was nine oh six. Okay, we have let's go
to Tua real quick.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
Okay sort of. Then, well, let me let me give
the headline here. The Dolphins placed two, a tongue of
Ioloa on the injured reserve list because of the concussion.
Now he's out for least four weeks. And I was
wondering about this. It's rare when you have somebody who
has a concussion and then goes on the IR. Now,
(11:06):
usually you just go through concussion protocol. And I said
to Pauline, how many players have had a concussion and
gone on IR And he said Javid Best, who was
the former running back at Cow. I think he was
drafted by the lines. He had a ton of potential
and I think he went on the IR and then
never came back to play because of a concussion. And
(11:29):
I don't know. And once again, I want to be
fair to this situation, but it felt a perception like
a pr ir. Let's put him on ice for a month,
so we're really giving him a thorough lookover? Or is
the injury worse than we thought? Like there's two ways
to look at this. I'm hoping that the injury is
(11:53):
not worse than we thought. But you can ask for
a second opinion. I'm being told by a source here
you have a right for a second opinion, and you
could file a grievance. If you didn't want to go
on the IR, let's say two, it goes No, I
don't want to I want to have a doctor clear me,
(12:13):
and then I'm going to go back to play. But
is this a pr ir move something I'm just making
up that says we are really taking care of our players.
We want to make because if he comes back, two
ways to look at it, Oh my god, they cleared him,
or maybe it wasn't as bad as we thought. I thought,
(12:35):
let's just let's get him away from the field, because
he did say he wants to play football. Well, there's
a lot of reasons why. I'm sure he wants to
play football. If you're the team, if you're the doctor,
if you're the NFL, it might make more sense to
put him on the IR.
Speaker 7 (12:51):
No.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
I don't know if he objected to it, but that
was my first reaction to it. This is a big
deal and to a come back. How many doctors does
he have to see? I don't know what this kind
of the concussion IR protocol. Is that different than just
(13:12):
concussion protocol. Yes, Pauline, That's what I've been wondering about this.
I don't think there's much surprise that he was put
on the IR. But is his past history factoring into
being put on the IR? Is this injury worse than
we thought?
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Why? Is like any other NFL player had a concussion
this weekend, he'd be in the standard protocol back in
seven to ten days. Yeah, why is his treatment different?
Speaker 3 (13:35):
I have to believe it's the history of this, But
once again, I don't know. You know, the NFL is
very powerful, and they do what they want to do
when they want to do it. But in a situation
like this, hopefully they're airing to the side of the
player and if he wants to come back and play,
(13:55):
he gets cleared and comes back to play. If I'm
the NFL, I mean, this is real. You've already gone
through the billion dollar lawsuit. You don't want to have
a quarterback out there, any player who his brains scrambled
and he's back out there again and he gets hurt again.
And the look of that because we always are focusing
(14:18):
on the quarterback and when they get hit and when
they try to get up, and then they can't get up,
and then their arms are stiff, and then it gets
aside from Demorrow Hamlin like that's the image sometimes that
we have that you go, oh my god, get him
out of there. And I don't know. I just looked
at it and just said, this might be the best
(14:40):
move for all involved here, including the perception of we
really take care of our players, we really care about
him and the Dolphins doing the same thing. But there
might be whether there will be a really big decision
coming up here by TUA, NFL the Dolphins. We'll take
a break settle on our poll question. Glad to have
you on board eight seven, seven to three DP. Show

Speaker 9 (15:18):
Hey, we're Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day
five to seven pm Eastern. But here's the thing, we
never have enough time to get to everything we want
to get to.
Speaker 10 (15:27):
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things. We never have
time for Yeah, you blubber list lame and me.
Speaker 9 (15:41):
Well, you know what, it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.
Speaker 10 (15:46):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time, it will
continue on our after show called over Promised.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
If you don't get enough Cavino and.
Speaker 9 (16:01):
Rich, make sure you check out over Promise and also uncensored,
by the way, so maybe we'll go at it even
a little harder. It's gonna be the best after show
podcast of all time.
Speaker 10 (16:10):
There you go, over promising. Remember you could see it
on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen to over Promised
with Cavino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts,
or wherever you get your podcasts.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
We'll settle on a poll question. Phone calls always welcome.
There's some really interesting matchups coming up week three. I
mean you start with Thursday Night. The Patriots are maybe
a little bit better than we thought. They're getting six
and a half against the Jets. You got Chargers. Steelers
is spicy. Chargers are getting one and a half. Eagles Saints.
Speaker 8 (16:45):
Hmm.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
How about the Texans and the Vikings? Who would have
thought both would be undefeated? Packers and the Titans. Packers
are getting three against Tennessee. You know it's weird that
Tennessee has lost their first two games. Didn't play they
could have won both of those games. And now you
got the game against the Titans. Now no Jordan Love
and that's why the Packers are getting three. Let's see
(17:09):
what else do we have. The Panthers are only five
and a half point underdogs at the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
You calling it, you know that you get that recovery bump.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
I just think the Andy Dalton magic. Maybe it's only
for one day. Maybe Dolphins go to Seattle. Niners rams
is spicy. Let's see Lions against the pesky Cardinals. The
Ravens Cowboys, I think is fascinating because now whatever team loses,
(17:46):
it's going to be really big. The Cowboys, whenever they lose,
it's really big. The Ravens if they start out zero
and three, now they're one and a half point underdogs.
The Chiefs against the Falcons new and improved Falcins Kirk Cousins,
who will join us later on the program. Chiefs are
three and a half point favorites in Atlanta, and then
(18:08):
you have Jags in the Bills. Yes, Todd, what if.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
Jayden Daniels goes into Cincinnati and takes down Joe Burrow,
knocking the Bengals to zero and three?
Speaker 5 (18:17):
That is a game worth watching.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
Thank you, Todd.
Speaker 5 (18:20):
I don't see that happening, but how exciting would that
be if the commanders on in Cincinnati?
Speaker 3 (18:23):
So you don't see it happening, but you felt compelled
to interrupt. I think it's an interesting matchup, all right, well,
thank you, thank you.
Speaker 5 (18:31):
The consequences for the Bengals to look all.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
Right, well, thank you, Todd. Yeah, any other scenarios that
nobody thinks will happen, but you still want to bring
it up. They called him captain obvious. Yes, Paul, it is.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
Wild that a month ago Eagle Saints would have been
up not watching that, not really interested. Yeah, Eagle's probably
pretty good team. Yeah, and now it's like Eagles are
in a jam.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
Yeah. Back to Tua, and I know I'm kind of
fit exated on this, but I do like I've enjoyed
being around him and met his family, and so there's
a kind of a personal aspect to this and to
watch him go out there, and I know everybody made
a big deal about he knows how to fall the
defensive lineman. They don't care. They're not there to place
(19:21):
you down, you know, as if you're being baptized in
the river. He caused the last one. He initiated contact here,
so they're trying to do timing patterns. He's not back there,
seven step drop. You don't get to run at him,
and they're trying to you know, Mike McDaniel has an
offense that's catered to Tua. Now, last year went smoothly great.
(19:45):
That's why he got this new contract. And I know
that I still think he's had one more concussion in
the NFL. Then the Dolphins would like to admit, or
the NFL would like to admit. Remember he had the
injured back even though and he got up that was
Week four, and he got up and you could see
where he was clearly concussed. And now they said it's
(20:10):
recorded is back and I go, Nope, it's not. But
Alabama dot Com. Al dot Com also reported, and this
is not something that's not brought up. He had a
concussion at Alabama and maybe it was not a big
deal back then. So let's you know, so what do
we have four concussions? Do we have five concussions?
Speaker 1 (20:34):
I would.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
I would lean towards five concussions. Okay, now he's down
for four games and he's in, he's on the IRM.
I think ultimately it's going to come back to two
if he wants to play, If he's cleared, and you
could probably find a doctor who will clear him, he's
(20:57):
going to play again. I just think, once again, it
feels like a pr move of let's sit him down,
Let's make sure that he's comfortable. We're comfortable to be
able to send him back out there. What if the
Dolphins say, we don't want to put you back out there,
you want to play for somebody else. We're not comfortable
doing this. Now they're on the hook for the money
(21:18):
if he gets cleared to play, and that's a lot
of money and probably wouldn't happen. But you know, there's
more to this. If I factor in a concussion at Alabama, now,
all of a sudden we're up to five. That's a
big deal. But he's down for four games and then
we'll see if he gets medically cleared. All right, Seaton
(21:41):
pole question, Well, we could do a slew of two
pole questions.
Speaker 6 (21:46):
Okay, will he play again this year?
Speaker 3 (21:48):
Should he play again?
Speaker 6 (21:49):
This Year's to going on the IR Is that a
good thing or a bad thing?
Speaker 3 (21:54):
Seems to be able to split up and you and
you brought up the other side of it of if
he comes back and plays in a week or so,
then you know, we would probably go, oh, the concussion
wasn't that bad. And I thought differently. I thought, no,
let's put him away for a little while, let him
sit down, let's let's let the heat kind of diminish
(22:16):
here on this topic. And in that, you know we're
going to protect him. But I understand what you're saying.
If he comes right back, one of the concussion is
not that bad. Now the perception might be, Wow, maybe
it's a lot worse than we thought.
Speaker 6 (22:28):
Yes, yeah, it's really like a lose lose situation because
if you bring him back after a week, why are
they rushing him back? He just had another concussion. If
you sit him for five weeks. It's like, how can
he play? He'd a concussion just knocked him out for
five weeks, How can he possibly come back? There's really
no good scenario, Yeah, PAULI.
Speaker 2 (22:44):
To me, this sets up him to a being an IR,
sets up an awkward situation a month from now when
he is at Let's say he's hypothetically clear to play
in five weeks and they Mike McDaniels does a press
conference and when someone asks, is he had greater risk
for a concussion because of his history? How are you
going to say? No, he was treated differently by going
on in the IR than the average football player. He's
(23:06):
being treated differently, not in the normal concussion protocol, which
means his situation is different and his history is different.
And I think that's gona be a tough one to answer.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
Well, Mike mcdan can just say, look, I'm not a doctor,
to which I would say, well, can we talk to
a doctor about this? Or what did the doctor tell you?
Did you inquire about this? You're right, it'll be an
uncomfortable press conference. All right? What other poll question? You
said we were going to do a few tua.
Speaker 6 (23:36):
Yeah, I mean that's three of them. Right there, any
anything other off a different topic. We still have the
Dower rankings. We haven't gotten too yet. Oh power dour.
That's next hour. See what I did with that?
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Time A rhyme back, I'll have.
Speaker 6 (23:51):
Time to take a shower and be back.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
Yes time.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
You can't play like that, obviously, But if you're a
pass rusher, if and when tour does come back, is
that back of your mind, you got to shout it.
Speaker 5 (24:01):
You gotta just play right.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
No, there's a want to be the one to end
somebody's career with them like you could hit him extra
by accidentally you hit him too hard, and you're the
guy the highlights his choice.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
That's his choice to put himself in a position that
his career could end. They sign up for this. But
if I'm a defensive player, you don't think that way.
You'd react, But I don't think you're going out of
your way to go you know what again, hit him
high or hit him low. I'm gonna hit him high
and end his career. And I don't think defensive players
(24:35):
think that, or hopefully they're not thinking that. There's not
enough time to think that way. Hey, I got it.
There he is and I'm coming, I better go low here.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
Yeah, Paul, I do see what Fritzy's saying. But we're
discussing this as as mere mortals, not football players. They
don't think like we do. I could see though, when
Tua is running out of bounds on a third and five,
and he's clearly going out of bounds. You know, sometimes
they give you a shot, they give you and they
try to take a shot. I wonder if a dB
or a linebacker hesitates just a hair because they are
(25:09):
a little bit of a brotherhood. I do see it
Fritzy's point. I can't see it actually playing out that way,
but I can see someone maybe easing up a hair
at a situation where.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
Well, you know, going to the sidelines, yes, you see
that all the time. But going back to pass that
doesn't happen. You know, they're not there to lay you down. Yes, Martvin,
especially Dlyman.
Speaker 11 (25:28):
There's about fifteen plays where they are a second late
on getting the quarterback, so that moment they can get
a shot, they're taking it.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
Yeah, all right, we'll get phone calls coming up. Let
me see how about Tim in Orlando? Hi Tim, what's
on your mind today?
Speaker 12 (25:45):
Hey Dan, thanks for calling me.
Speaker 5 (25:46):
Back.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
Sure.
Speaker 12 (25:52):
So you guys are far more creative than I am
regarding making a new T shirt. I just learned this morning,
more likely than not, I have testicular cancer. So, knowing
that we have two people that are already in our
family that have the sticular cancer, I thought maybe a
funny T shirt might be the one ball club or
(26:14):
something along that line.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
Well, how about we wait till you go through this, Tim, Well.
Speaker 12 (26:25):
Okay, in case I keep both of them.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
Yeah, well, let me know. Let us know if you're
going through surgery here and if you want to do
a T shirt, a one ball T shirt or I'm
taking my ball and going home. If you want to
do that, then we can laugh together about it. But
I'd hate to do. Oh man, we lost Tim, So
(26:47):
just want to make sure that we're we already had
the dead Dad's club. But when the results are in
or you go through this, hopefully you don't have to.
But let us know.
Speaker 6 (26:59):
I'm taking my bar.
Speaker 12 (27:00):
Thank you, suck it, suck.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
It back round.
Speaker 6 (27:02):
Okay, all right, there's a shot right there. I'm going
to take my ball and go home. Club Uno, he's
going ball to the wall.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
Oh okay, easy, Now let's let's let Tim go in
and hopefully come out. Eric and Michigan.
Speaker 8 (27:25):
Hey Dan, good morning, Good morning Eric, first time, first time,
long time, six four to ten. Awesome. I just wanted
to give a shout out to my wife that is
in Lancing at the moment, Lancing, Michigan. She did an
excellent job on Monday delivering our brand new baby girl,
(27:47):
Elizabeth Parker, seven pounds thirty nine inches. Where are you, Eric,
I am on my way back over to Lancing. I
am in the car. We got a three year old
boy at home also, so I've kind of been going
back and forth taking care of both sides, and I'm
(28:09):
all my way back over to Landing now everybody will
be coming home today and everybody is doing great.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
Awesome. Well, congratulations Eric. How about a round of applause
for Eric. He didn't really do much, but how about
a round of applause for his wife? Alright? I mean,
I guess I don't know if you're ever prouder of
your wife. Oh my gosh, Then when you're there and
(28:35):
you see what she goes through, went through and delivers
a baby, I get it. Brought tears to my eyes
that not only you get a baby, but just your
wife and going through it, and you're like, we couldn't
do it. The population would be half the size that
it is. It's like, I'm not doing it. You know
(28:59):
you doing it. I'm not doing it. Stephen, Kansas City, Hi, Steve,
what's on your mind today? Hey?
Speaker 6 (29:05):
Danny?
Speaker 7 (29:05):
How you doing great? Hey? I just had trim up
soldier surgery last week, and I just kind of wanted
to let you know what it's going to be like,
since I've had twenty surgeries on my body. The first
day they're going to put a pain blocker in your shoulder, yes,
and your arm is going to be like weakened at Bernie's.
(29:29):
It is the weirdest feeling in the world. It just
if it comes out of the sling, it just hangs
there and you don't you can't believe how heavy that
arm is. So I just wanted to kind of be
prepared for that.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
Okay, but how many days before you got out of
the sling or that you felt a little better.
Speaker 7 (29:50):
I was in the sling for about two and a
half days and now it just it just kind of aches, okay,
and I was I was done with the pain medication
within three days. It's a good It's one of my
favorite surgeries because it wasn't that bad.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
Damn, you're a topper though by telling me you've had
twenty surgery.
Speaker 7 (30:09):
So Steve, yeah, I know you're still a little little
behind me.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
I am I and I hope I'm always going to
be behind you in the count. But and thank you
for the phone call. Yeah, they put a pain blocker
there and then uh.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
What does that mean inserted in you?
Speaker 3 (30:25):
Well, they whatever they do, they do it so you
don't feel any pain for a couple of days. So
they yeah, pain blocker, and then they give you a
percoset or whatever, which I normally don't take. I don't
I don't want to take those. And so I mean
I might come in on Monday and it might be
like you guys might get a little emotional when you
(30:47):
see me, the fact that I'm here, I had surgery
and I'm showing up to entertain a nation. And you know,
remember Byron left Witch when he was at Marshall and
he couldn't, you know, even move and his offensive lineman
picked him up and carried him down the field. They're
trying to win a game, and it might you might
want to do that, but I'm going to encourage you.
(31:07):
You don't have to do that. But when you see
me on that Monday after surgery, just just an acknowledgement,
you know, even just a finger point maybe just like, yeah,
we're with you. Yeah, Ston Steve just said your surgeries
were cute. I heard him, which was not necessary. Were
they cute or acute?
Speaker 2 (31:27):
He was like, no, that's cute that you've had.
Speaker 6 (31:29):
I mean I've had over twenty yeah, but yours are cute.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
Yeah, it's nice. Well, this one, this one isn't terrible. Now,
when I had my rotator, because most great pictures have
their rotator done, that one was bad. That's that's terrible.
That's where it's a three month process, not any fun.
But this one is supposed to be a not that
bad kind of surgery. But any surgery is major surgery
(31:54):
when it's on you, and who knows, I may not
come out of the anesthesia.
Speaker 5 (31:59):
Ton, You're gonna be fine.
Speaker 4 (32:00):
I don't know how you describe one of your surgeries
as one of my favorite surgeries.
Speaker 5 (32:04):
That was just an odd way to describe it.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
Well, considering all of the surgeries I had on other
parts of my body, this one is all right, it's
not terrible. And I can I guess if I'm going
through a drive through for surgery, this would be a
drive through surgery. Okay, there you go, hey, Dan, and
(32:26):
it's going to take an hour and then they're going
to go in there and do whatever they do and
send me on my maror away, have my wife pick
me up. I'll play the sympathy card for a couple
of days and then it's back to normal.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
Yes, Tom, If there's nothing attached to you, like a
catheta or a drain or something like that, that's a win.
I think in certain surgeries where you wake up and
then there's all kinds of stitches and they got things attacked.
Speaker 3 (32:49):
Why did it have to come back to you? It is?
Speaker 1 (32:53):
There are surgeries when you wake.
Speaker 5 (32:54):
Up when there's something attached to you.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
You're a mister catheter, ladies and gentlemen, miss de cath
and you can't even show that off. No you can't.
Well you can, but the nurse probably would appreciate that
you don't. Can you put your catheter away, mister Fritz?
How about we take a break, all right? Paulie has
(33:16):
a new poll question after the break, We're back after
this on The Dan Patrick Show.

it's gone.

Speaking of home runs, it was show Heo Tani last night.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
Tani swings.
Speaker 13 (34:35):
It's a dry tape to right field. It is into
the upper deck for home run number forty eight and
the Dodgers on the board, it's four to two. It's
shaw Helo. Tony hits us first home run on the
road trip, number forty eight.
Speaker 3 (34:53):
That's courtesy of AM five seventy LA Sports Dodgers Radio Network.
So where are we eleven games to go? He's a
forty eight forty eight. Don't make this mistake, and a
lot of people in my industry will make this mistake.
Forty eight forty eight is just as magical as fifty
to fifty. It just doesn't have the same ring to it.
(35:14):
We sometimes need a hook. Russell Westbrook Junior the third
one the MVP, I think in large part because he
averaged a triple double. It was it's easy to consume
that like, oh my god, he had a triple double. Well,
you can have a triple double. Doesn't mean you had
a great game.
Speaker 8 (35:33):
Sho.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
Hey, Otani's had an MVP season even if he doesn't
do fifty to fifty. And if you go back to
when this season started, coming off surgery a procedure, you
also had his interpreter, and you know the gambling debts.
Was Otani involved, not involved? He's in Korea. They open
up the season. Is he going to play? How is
(35:55):
he going to play? He's not going to be able
to pitch? Is that can affect his hitting before we
even start the season, And now you go forty eight
forty eight, it won't have the same ring to it.
And that's that will be unfortunate because we haven't seen
this before forty eight forty eight. I hope he gets
(36:15):
to fifty to fifty, just because then history will be
I think kinder to him and this monumental season. But
if he ends up like forty nine forty eight, and
then it's like, oh, yeah, well, how many home runs
did he have? How many stolen bases? We'll get it confused.
Did he have forty eight forty nine? Oh the other way,
(36:39):
fifty to fifty. Everybody's going to consume it and go, man,
that year Otani went fifty to fifty. You don't look
back and go, boy, that year that guy went forty
eight forty nine. He's starting his own club. Okay, this
might just be the forty eight forty eight club. We'll
call it the lower forty eight.
Speaker 6 (36:58):
I'm not hanging out there though.
Speaker 3 (36:59):
You're not going to that club. Forty forty eight club.
I don't want to go there. Okay, what about forty nine?
Forty nine fifty got to be fifty to fifty. Heck, yeah, Well,
if jay Z's going to open up another club, he's
already got the forty forty. Now he'd have the fifty
to fifty. Does he still have his forty forty club
in the city.
Speaker 11 (37:18):
I don't think so. I think they're going to reopen it.
I went to Fanatics Fest and they had a little
forty forty esque type of club when he was there
with Michael Rubin and oh the clubs.
Speaker 3 (37:28):
Okay, might be in the works. Forty forty club. Yeah,
I never went to it. I remember we had jay
Z on this is a long long time ago, and
I remember making a bet with him. I think it
had something to do with the nets, and he lost
that bet. He was supposed to host this show, which
I didn't think was going to happen, but or maybe
(37:51):
if he won, he was going to get to host.
I don't know something there. I just remember him talking
about his forty forty club. Yeah, Pauline, Yeah, Marvin's right.
Forty club will reopen in a new location in twenty
twenty five. Okay, uh So, the new poll question is,
what if show the snarky.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
If sho hey Otani finishes the season with forty nine
homers and forty nine steals, that will be one of
the greatest historical achievements in baseball history. Or a little
disappointing I'm doing Fitzy's a little disappointing.
Speaker 5 (38:23):
Disappointing, well, disappointing for sure.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
No, he's just no, I'm being seried.
Speaker 5 (38:29):
If you get that.
Speaker 4 (38:29):
Close and you don't get the fifty to fifty, it's
like then it's an awkward thing. It's not something anyone's
going to rally behind for it.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
So if you rush for nine hundred and ninety nine yards, hey.
Speaker 5 (38:38):
You weren't there a thousand yard rusher? Have a seat?
Speaker 3 (38:40):
Yeah, wasn't a rusher seven to twelve? Wasn't there a
running back with the Falcons? He rushed, he went over
one thousand yards, and then he ended up losing like
six yards. He lost And this is right at the
end of the season, last game, you know, final minutes
of the game. They got him over one thousand yards
(39:02):
and then he ended up losing like four I think
he ended up like nine ninety six yards. Yeah, Paul,
that's correct.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
Nineteen seventy two, Dave Hampton became the first player in
Falcons team history to rush for one thousand yards. This season,
they stopped the game, gave him the game ball. He
got the ball the next play, loss of six yards.
Finished the season with nine and ninety five yards.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
To day that stead of the day stat of the day?
Speaker 5 (39:33):
Here comes that?
Speaker 2 (39:34):
What stat of the day?
Speaker 3 (39:38):
Stat of the day brought to you by Pennine America,
the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show.
Speaker 2 (39:43):
Yes, Bom, this is even wilder. I've heard that story
that you just told before. The following season, Dave Hampton
with the Falcons ran for nine and ninety seven yards.
I did not know that. He came up three short
two years later he ran for one thousand and two
yards to be the first thousand yard rusher in team history.
Speaker 3 (40:02):
But he was already. Does he get credit for being
the first thousand yard rusher? Yes.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
It's like if you land on the moon and you're
somehow pulled back.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
Yeah, you still landed on the moon. Yeah, Okime, wow, yes, time.
Speaker 5 (40:16):
But if you hit if you're batting four hundred at
one point, but at the end of the season. You
ent that with three ninety three. You can't say you
were a four hundred hitter from that couple of days
or a week that you stayed up there.
Speaker 3 (40:25):
It's whatever it is you were for a few days.
Speaker 4 (40:28):
Yeah, but you're not a four hundred hit or four
hundred hitters on your baseball card at the end of
the season that you were at least four.
Speaker 6 (40:35):
Why are you a nark today just saying he's not
wrong though you didn't finish the season that way, like
a point, I was batting seven fifty because you're like,
all right, yeah, dude, this is the second game.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
No, but this is at the end of the year.
George Brett can say he was batting four hundred.
Speaker 5 (40:51):
Once reached four hundreds a period of time. That's a
lot of word that doesn't.
Speaker 6 (40:56):
That would you rather have that where you were all
spatting for you batted four hundred and then ended up
at three ninety three.
Speaker 5 (41:03):
I was a part of three combined no hitters.
Speaker 6 (41:06):
That you or you ended up forty nine forty nine.
Speaker 5 (41:10):
Joe, it's all week. You got to hit those numbers.
We're all about those exciting round numbers. That's just what
it is.
Speaker 6 (41:15):
And you are one big round a big it's not necessary.
Speaker 5 (41:19):
There's nothing to do with anything that you would do there.
Speaker 2 (41:21):
True unnecessary.
Speaker 6 (41:23):
That's how you know you're He had a good point
there when he was like, oh, that's how you know
you won the hour. He was like, yeah, by the way,
you're a round number. Tod didn't win the No, he didn't.
His little crutches question who won hour? Who won the hour? Fritzy,
thank you, let's go Todd all right, finishing Friday and.
Speaker 5 (41:46):
Strong it's calling it like it is. There you go.
What a Tuesday so far?
Speaker 3 (41:50):
And a Wednesday? It could be Thursday by next hour.
Speaker 5 (41:55):
I had a thousand yard rushing until I didn't.
Speaker 3 (41:58):
You had a good show, and so you didn't.
Speaker 5 (42:01):
It's all right. What a break
