Paulie and Fritzie are not here today. Merely a coincidence.
Moraw is high. It's a meat Friday, and that means
more airtime for Seton and Marvin. Maybe Dylan, the graphics

(01:27):
a Meet Friday. What will be on the triggers? How
about reverse seared Jimmy Tura ribbis, funeral potatoes and cheesy
potato casserole. Who has it better than we do? O
body money? I've never heard of funeral potatoes. Apparently this

(01:51):
is Tyler way of the celebration of the Oakland a's
life is they win, they close it out in style,
but it's a funeral possession there procession of the Oakland
ase yeh see I'm reading here.

Speaker 3 (02:08):
Legend has it that funeral potatoes derive their name from
the practice of eating.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
The dish at a funeral funerals. How about that?

Speaker 3 (02:16):
You know what I'm gonna make my funeral potatoes? Okay, okay,
I had not heard of them. Yeah, why can't Why
can't you just have potatoes.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
I guess it's a cheesy potato casserole. Is that what
this is?

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Looks like there's like a crust on top, maybe some
cornflakes or something.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Okay, all right, it sounds good. Okay, I'm in Okay,
So I thought we were getting cheesy potato casserole on
top of the funeral potatoes. Now I'm finding that it's
the cheesy potato casserole. That's your funeral potatoes. Are the
funeral potato?

Speaker 4 (02:51):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (02:51):
They are interesting?

Speaker 5 (02:52):
All right.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Some of the headlines here. I mentioned that the Oaklanase
are done in Oakland and now going to Las Vegas.
Bot have a two year stop in Sacramento. We'll talk
about that game as well. Socks hold off history again
the final weekend of the regular season. Come where do
you go, Socks.

Speaker 5 (03:11):
Oh, we're not gonna take it.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Do you want to add to that? No, we ain't
gonna take it. Dallas beat the g Men twenty to fifteen.
Malik Neighbors went out with a concussion there. Michael Parsons
banged up his ankle as well. That was a boring
game that had all of the elements of why I
hate Thursday night football. It was sloppy, a lot of flags,

(03:41):
and Dallas wins it twenty to fifteen. The spread, by
the way, it was five and a half, five and
a half, and there's a missed field goal at the
end of the game.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
Damn, oh no.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
And that field goal kicker is really good, but he
had I think two field goals during the game, but
then had an opportunity for I think they had over
eighty percent of the money was on the Cowboys to cover,
so Brandon Aubrey had field goals of forty and sixty yards,

(04:19):
but he had a fifty one yarder that would have
given the over as far as the over under a
five and a half. Vegas knows what it's doing, you know.
I'm watching the game and I go, what's the points?
Is it five or five and a half? And then
I go five and a half, so twenty to fifteen,
and this guy's lining up and he's pretty much automatic,

(04:39):
and then he missed it. By the way, the Giants
failed to score a touchdown for the second consecutive home game. Also,
they are the first team to go without a touchdown
in its first two home games to start a season
since well the twenty twenty three Giants did the same thing. Wow.

Speaker 6 (05:02):
Stand of a day, Start of a day, Start out
a day, scout out a day.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
This is the stule of the day. Thank you, Melissa Ethridge.
Stat of the Day brought to you by Panini America.
This first hour brought to you by King Sawaiian. Sliding
into the weekend brought to you by our partners at
King Sawaiian. And there's no shame in saying, Hey, nice buns,
Dan Slider, Sunday, slide into the weekend, family friends, football,

(05:33):
and enjoy the weekend. Here's another one, Yes, Sedon that.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Kind of owns the Giants.

Speaker 5 (05:37):
Yes he does right now.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
I think he's lost one time to them in his career.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Yeah once, it's like thirteen games in a row or something.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
He's something like that.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
What that felt like a game that used to be
sort of market on your calendar, Like this is always
a great rivalry game. I don't know if you could
still say that, No, you can't. The Giants are just
not good.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Yeah, that's not a rivalry used to be with Washington
and Dallas, big rivalry game, the Cowboys and the Giants,
big rivalry game. How many rivalries do we have in
the NFL Steelers Ravens might be the most intense one
I think right now. I mean, the Raiders and the

(06:22):
Chiefs used to be a big deal. I mean there's
quite a few of them, you know, the Bengals and
the Browns just for battling, you know, bragging rights in Ohio.

Speaker 7 (06:31):
Yes, Marvin, I think the one non divisional rivalry. Maybe
I'm saying this because I'm a forty nine Ers fan
forty nine Ers Cowboys.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Yeah, because there's a history there.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
But most of them are division like Packers Bears.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Yeah, but the Packers have dominated the Bears. So I mean,
is it a rivalry Bears fans?

Speaker 5 (06:52):
Oh no, it's not here.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Something Yeah, Yeah, here's one for you. The Giants have
failed to score a touchdown in four consecu if starts
at home by Daniel Jones. That's hold on, hold on.
That hasn't happened to a quarterback in the last seventy
four years.

Speaker 6 (07:14):
Startup a day startup to day statu the day statu
to day statu to day startup to day start up to.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Day startup d All right, so the Cowboys get the win.
But now, and I don't know if they're look they're
the most covered team. I don't know if they're a
good team. I think they have the potential to show
signs of being a very good team because you have
Ceedee Lamb, Dak is a good quarterback, Micah Parsons yet

(07:45):
to really be impactful this year, and then got banged
up last night. Ceedee Lamb was the Cowboys leading rusher.
See this is a problem, and I know Jerry Jones says, well,
we can't sign them all. Yeah, you're right, but I
would have made room for Derrick Henry, and you know,

(08:06):
obviously Baltimore did, and then Derrick Henry goes in and
you know, gashes the Cowboys for whatever one hundred and
fifty yards. You got to have somebody back there that
resembles a running back that you would actually buy into
play action pass. I get if Dak is doing play
action pass and making it seem like he might give
it to Zeke Elliot, I'm like, give it to them.

(08:28):
I don't care. And now they're just throwing these little
intermediate passes. You know, it's this is you know, going
to be a season long issue with them. But the
Cowboys next games, they got the Steelers, Lions, Bye week, Niners, Falcons, Eagles, Texans.
That's pretty tough. I mean, the Steelers are going to

(08:51):
that defense obviously is great. The Lions, we've yet to
see them regain their form from last year. The Niners
might be healthy by them because there's a bye week
and then they face the Niners. We know the Falcons
are capable of being good. The Eagles and the Texans.
That's a pretty good run there of quality opponents. But

(09:11):
here is Dak Prescott not getting too excited after the win.

Speaker 8 (09:16):
It was huge.

Speaker 9 (09:16):
It was huge after obviously losing two, especially at home,
coming on the road, first division game.

Speaker 8 (09:22):
Division wins are always tough.

Speaker 9 (09:24):
As I said, then you add on the road before
a long weekend puts a better taste in our mouth.
But at the end of the day, as I've said,
even after those two losses a couple of weeks, you know,
the past.

Speaker 8 (09:36):
Two weeks as it's a process.

Speaker 9 (09:38):
So we're not gonna get complacent, We're not gonna get
over excited about what we've done tonight. It's about building
and it's about figuring out what we can do better
in all phases.

Speaker 8 (09:46):
But it's a lot easier to do that.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
With the win it is, and I just thought, get
a clean win, get out of there with a clean win,
get a couple of touchdowns, get some sacks on Daniel Jones,
and then live for another day. You couldn't afford a loss,
a divisional loss to the Giants there, so they got
the win. It wasn't pretty, but you know, you don't

(10:07):
get style points at the end of the year. Just
get back to five hundred. Now you got a pretty
pretty tough road here coming up age seven to seven
to three DP show uh Seaton will yeah, Seaton.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
It's crazy too to think about that game last night
for Dallas, being a must win game against a not
very good team this early in the season. But the
difference between you know, going home one in three verses
two and two is just massive for that team.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
They don't feel like they can win the Super Bowl
right well, you.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Know what it is too like for a team whose
offense should be so good, they sure make it look
really hard.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
They don't. They don't get chunks easily sometimes. You know, well,
I love CD Lamb, I think he's spectacular, but you
don't have a running game. And you know, Jerry has
made a lot of mistakes with keying and get rid
of running backs. I just think that's where if you
can kind of churn out some yards, have some you know,

(11:08):
long extended drives there because that defense is not a
very good defense right now, and the Giants aren't a
very good offense. But they're going to be tested here
in the coming weeks with you know, some of these
teams they're going to be facing. We've already seen them
tested here, but watching them, I don't know how many
teams are in the category of we just can't picture

(11:30):
them winning a Super Bowl, but there's still a quality team.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Yeah, they're in that. That could be a first hour
poll question. By the way, are the Cowboys a Super
Bowl contender? Because they feel like a kind of but
not really team Yeah kinda yeah, but I don't know
if they are all right.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
So Dallas beats the g Men and Malik Neighbors goes
out with a concussion. Some football coming up this weekend.
Georgia Alabama. This is when Calin de boor Alabama's head coach,
you win that game in primetime. Now all of a sudden,
you're not the guy who replaced Nick Saban. Now you're
just Alabama's head coach and Jalen Milroe, the quarterback. This

(12:11):
is where you can all of a sudden make a
statement for the Heisman Trophy and now you know Georgia,
you kind of go, I don't know, is Georgia that
great this year? Usually we go Georgia or the field
the last couple of years. But Alabama. Alabama should win
this game. But it's a perception weekend for Kaylin de Boor,

(12:33):
the head coach, and also Jalen Milroe, their quarterback.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
Satan, what's the poll question today? Yeah, I think we're
gonna well, you know what. Actually, Todd sent in a
couple of the snarky poll questions that were unappreciated. I
think we're gonna put in a Cowboys poll question. Okay,
this season, the Cowboys are a great team or a
good team. M we could also do the Cowboys are

(12:57):
a super Bowl contender? Absolutely or kind of not really,
I mean the kind of our but not really. Todd
sent in, if you have two Danettes, do you really
have no Danetes? Sort of a reference to the Steelers situation. Yeah,
if you have two quarterbacks, you don't have one.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Wait, so you're Russell Wilson and Marvin is justin fields.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
Uh sure, okay, sure, I'll take the veteran status there
of Russell Wilson. Maybe a couple of rings, but not
really doing great recently.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
I think we're doing great so far. Oh yeah, we're
doing yeah for sure. Yeah all right, let's go a team.

Speaker 5 (13:37):
Get up. Yeah, this is how we did.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
Yeah. We don't need Pauli, we don't need Fritzy. So
it's a meet Friday. Morale is high. We got some
guests here. This is good. Funeral potatoes, Monerald Potatoes. Chad
and Utah joining us. Hey, Chad, what's on your mind?

Speaker 10 (13:57):
Good morning Dan, and half of the day. I would
like to give you a little bit of a history
of the funeral potato. They are a cultural thing. They
are a cultural item. They are part of the staple
of the diet out here in Utah, part of the
Church and Jesus Christ of Latter day Things, also known
as the Mormons. But they're not just for funerals. They

(14:19):
are we have them all the time out here. My
wife serves them like it at Christmas and Easter and
special occasions or just for meat Fridays here at our house.
And you can go to a to a church function
or a pot luck, or or any kind of a
say out here, and you will, literally, guys, you'll literally
have thirty different varieties of funeral potatoes at the function.

(14:44):
Some with cornflakes like Seaton mentioned, some without, some with
green onions, some with regular onions, some with diced potatoes,
some with shredded potatoes. They are a part. They are
as Utah as fries.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
All right, Well, thank you, Chad, all right, Utah.

Speaker 11 (15:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
I love your use of potatoes and the freedom to
explore and the creativity they show.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
In the cheesy potato casserole that we have. Dave and Idaho, Hi, Dave,
what's on your mind today?

Speaker 4 (15:15):
Hey? Good glory, Dan, Hey man, I just wanted to
thank you guys for doing what you do. Man, you're
the only thing worth watching as far as sports television.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Goes in the morning.

Speaker 4 (15:27):
Just one thing, though, if we could instead of calling
Tom Brady the greatest quarterback of all time, if we
could call him the most decorated quarterback of all time.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
Sure we can do that for you, Dave.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
Who does Dave like as the greatest quarterback of all time?

Speaker 11 (15:45):
I'm still a Montana guy.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
Okay, all right, Another decorated quarterback as well. Aaron Rodgers
gets the most talented quarterback to ever play, but they
don't call him the greatest quarterback of all time.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
I don't know, is he still is Aaron Rodgers still
the most talented quarterback ever.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
I don't even like the designation. I don't know what
that means. Man, there's nobody more talented than him, Okay,
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
I mean, there's been some pretty good people that came
through the lead.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
I think John Elway might be the best athlete who's
played quarterback now, just my opinion. John Elway would be
the guy. And Aaron Rodgers in the conversation, I guess
Patrick Mahomes in the conversation, Yes, yes, Mark.

Speaker 5 (16:32):
Aaron Rodgers the greatest thrower of the.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
Footballst thrower of the football.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
That's it. Nailed it.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
By the way, Gary jumping in on Twitter filling in
for Fritzy's saying, so these potatoes are to die for.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
Feral Okay, all right.

Speaker 3 (16:53):
I tried to do the fingers, you, Fritzy, creepy fingers.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
Okay, that's fine. So these potatoes are to die for it?

Speaker 3 (17:01):
Okay, we're not as fast as Todd Todd would have
had that right on the spot.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
Let's take a break. We're just getting started. It is
full steam ahead, shown up. Yeah, that's just to give
the audience just a sampling in case you're already jonesing
for Fritzie. There's withdrawals. Give it one more time. Here's Fritzy.

Speaker 5 (17:25):
He wasn't even sure if he should have shown up.

Speaker 2 (17:30):
Is this a gift that keeps on giving?

Speaker 5 (17:32):
That fella?

Speaker 2 (17:32):
And then Todd thought, I doctored that. I go, dude,
you have an issue here. You either have too much saliva,
your tongue is working overtime here something All right, let
me take a break, just getting started. See if Dylan
wants to come out and sit in Fritzy's chair, We'll
have him come out and give us his gambling picks

(17:53):
for the weekend. All right, we'll take a break, just
getting started. Back after this.

Speaker 1 (17:57):

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Play of the day coming up, settle on a poll
question your phone calls as well. Ah, look who's there
in Fritzy's seat. Dylan the Graphics Guy, also part of
the Gambling Podcast. The newest episode is available at Dan
Patrick dot com. Shayan Irving, Bad Larry, and Dylan the
Graphics Guy. Dylan, you look very comfortable there.

Speaker 12 (18:31):
That I feel comfortable.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
Okay.

Speaker 12 (18:32):
Todd's shares got good lumbar. It's actually a chair upgrade
from mine. Mine's a little busted up in the back.
So it's nice.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
Seaton may be willing to take down the partition today.
He has that up because Fritzy's coughing all the time.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
I mean, I'd consider it for sure, all right.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
So we'll get to Dylan's picks for this weekend with
the Gambling Podcast eight seven to seven three DP show.
Let me get to Buddha in San Francisco. Morning, Buddha,
No nobody, what's up?

Speaker 11 (19:06):
Season, Let's go Marvin.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
Dan.

Speaker 13 (19:10):
That game last night must have given Shane Irving heartburn.
That was a picture perfect Thursday night game, hard to watch,
ugly and not good. And DP my Dodgers bringing home
another division win. But that doesn't mean squat Dan, I
mean we need to solidify rotation, get some swagger going

(19:33):
into the playoffs. I mean, it's just so funny because
baseball it's so unlike all of the sports, right, I mean,
like the best team doesn't always win. I mean, like
one hundred wins seasons, division titles are great, but you
know that doesn't do anything for you. So, I mean
it's kind of cool to watch show Hey o Tani too.
I feel like he's really starting to feel the emotion
of being like on irrelevant team. I mean it's crazy

(19:56):
to me that he's not ever been in a meaningful season,
So like that's gonna be really really fun to watch.
And uh, thoughts and prayers out to Fritzie and Paulie.
Hope they're well, and you boys have an awesome weekend.

Speaker 2 (20:10):
All right, thank you bout it. Yeah, Paulie and Fritzi
are healthy. They're just in different cities for different reasons.
Fritzy's visiting his daughter, Paulie's visiting his mom. But everybody's good.
Everybody's good on the Show. By the way, Show Hey Otani.
In his last seven games with runners in scoring position
ten for eleven, four homers, fifteen RBIs Wow. Steat of

(20:34):
the day stat of the day, best stat of the
day stat of the day comes that what steat of
the day, bad Luciano and Brooklyn back with us.

Speaker 11 (20:48):
Luciano, Hey caple to the boy king, and hey see
how you do it? Hi Caple. So listen, first of all,
let me comment. Listen, we'll call Tom Brady the goat,
and we'll call Patrick Mahomes the boat the best of
all time. Right, So, but I have a comment about
something you said yesterday that you know, normally in conformity

(21:10):
with the things you say, but you mentioned that you think.
Correct me if I'm wrong that Donald Larson's performance in
the World Series might be the greatest performance ever. I
wouldn't have a problem with that if you would call
it a team performance, because a perfect game is about
a player not reaching safely on base. In order for
that to happen, it has to be procured by the

(21:32):
whole team, not by one player, unless you struck out
twenty seven people. Well, Shoha, Tany has done. He's done
by himself. So to me, I don't think you could
apples and argues. All right, man, I'd talk to you
guys later.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
All right, thank you. Luciana. Sounds like a different guy
since he came out of prison.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
Well that'll do that to you.

Speaker 5 (21:52):
Yeah, I think so his phone manners have changed. I
don't have much time.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
Yeah, you are cognizant of your minutes when you're somebody
behind you, like when you're in prison. All right, Dyl,
are you ready to go with your gambling picks? Dan
Patrick takes a gamble podcast. All right, already, all right,
here we go.

Speaker 12 (22:16):
We I'd like to start off with last night. I
have a confession. I did live bet the Giants money
line because after the Cowboys scored one touchdown, they played
the Boys Are Back in Town on the TV broadcast,
and I was like, this is I mean, that should
have been the nail in the coffin right there.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Wait, wait, that's what you based your bet on, Dan.

Speaker 12 (22:37):
It's that's the important information. We go through numbers and
statistics all day long. It's the intangibles.

Speaker 5 (22:43):
Okay.

Speaker 12 (22:44):
It's like on the field, the intangibles make the difference.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
Okay.

Speaker 12 (22:48):
I just want to get that out there. Okay, for
this week, I got my best bets again. Last week
we went three and two with the best bets of money.
Fortunately Iowa is not playing this week because we need
to take a break from each other.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Yeah, you loved Iowa the under you you made a
killing the last two years with that lack of offense.

Speaker 12 (23:07):
Now I'm getting killed. Yes, they put up like sixty
points again with Minnesota last week.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
Yeah they're offensive jugger Nain now yes.

Speaker 12 (23:15):
Okay, so this week this is my favorite and it
makes no sense. Fresno State and UNLV sie Fresno State
plus one and a half, it's open minus one and
a half. Then all the news came out about their
quarterback moved to plus one and a half. Now it's
plus two and a half Fresno State and UNLV's running
back is leaving too. He's doing the same thing.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Okay, that's weird to me.

Speaker 12 (23:39):
You would think it would have moved the other way, right,
like their quarterback and running back aren't playing, and then
the line bounces the wrong direction and.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
You're taking Fresno State.

Speaker 12 (23:49):
Okay, of course, who I haven't winning the Mountain West too?

Speaker 2 (23:51):
Okay.

Speaker 12 (23:53):
I got Penn State minus eighteen against Illinois because I
loved Illinois plus eighteen, and then my fellow compatriots Shay
and Larry were both on Illinois. So I made the.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
Smart move and I flip flopped Illinois beating Nebraska once again.
It doesn't take much for you to make a decision
on who you're betting on or against.

Speaker 12 (24:15):
No, I'm a very fickle beast.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
Okay, all right, So you're taking Penn State even though
you loved Illinois getting eighteen yeah, okay.

Speaker 12 (24:22):
Public dog okay. And then I've got South Alabama plus
twenty and a half against LSU UCLA last week plus
twenty four. They covered that, no problem. Yeah, you're not
a big LSU fan believer this year unimpressive, okay, any
big spreads. I'm taking the okay of dog, all right.

(24:43):
And then the NFL dan would you like a couple
of those?

Speaker 4 (24:46):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Why not?

Speaker 12 (24:48):
I got Broncos Jets over thirty eight and a half. Again,
that one screams under. But both those defenses are defense.
Denver has a good defense. They do.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
They're like a top three defense right now.

Speaker 12 (25:01):
But that Jets defense has not been what they're supposed to.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
Be this Yes, they should be really good. Yeah okay.

Speaker 12 (25:08):
And then Jags plus six and a half against the Texans. Okay,
they had The Jaguars have to do something at some point, right,
especially last week.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Yeah. Well, if not, then Doug Peterson will probably be
doing something different. Tot seed Yeah, yeah, Jags getting six
and a half against the Texans.

Speaker 12 (25:27):
That seems big too. I don't know the Texan the
Texans of what. Pretty pedestrian alsoid that was a bad
bet last week. I think they were minus two against
the Vikings, who I now am kind of a believer in.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Well, certainly the defense they've been great.

Speaker 12 (25:41):
Yeah, anything else, No, those are my best bets and
then I'll probably rattle off another twenty of them over
the weekend or something and lose a bunch of money.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
But OK, yeah, all you know, people were worried about
Shan Irving after they heard him on Monday after Dallas lost,
And I did check in with him on Wednesday and
he is doing better. But he did say he might
have had the worst day of his life, and then
followed that up by saying, and Danny, I've been in prison.

Speaker 3 (26:13):
So that is a fellow right there who you think
has had a few bad days in his life. Yes,
So for him to say that this is the worst, yes,
yes it is.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
Yet saying something. Yeah, how about we slide into the
weekend here? Number two Georgia, number four Alabama massive love it.

Speaker 3 (26:31):
Man, that's a big game early too. It feels like
I know early in the season.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
Huh, it feels like a neutral site cap game. But
that'll be in Tuscaloosa. You got Carson Beck and you
have Jalen Milroe. A game for the Heisman Heisman candidates.
I'm looking forward to Ryan Williams, the freshman at Alabama.
It seems like he's the real deal there. Seventeen, Yeah,

(26:55):
I know, what were you doing when you're seventy? I
always love when we do what were you doing when
you're seventeen? H I don't know, not that I.

Speaker 12 (27:05):
Was actually a college freshman at seventeen for a couple
months as one of the young Bucks. You wouldn't have
guessed it, but I.

Speaker 3 (27:13):
Wouldn't have if we were going to do some kind
of IQ test on the show. I think that Dylan
might be right up at the top.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
You think Dylan might be the smartest guy in the room.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
I think it's possible Dylan is the smartest person in
this building.

Speaker 5 (27:29):
Okay, wise, I agree completely.

Speaker 12 (27:32):
I think it's how you apply it, though, because I
don't really apply it.

Speaker 5 (27:37):
Not one bad well.

Speaker 3 (27:38):
I'm not making any judgment on your lifestyle, and really
more it's a statement on how you've thrown away, just
an unbelievable IQ.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
However, congratulations, an amazing brain in your head that you've
just squandered. But that's okay. I'd like to think I've
done more with less than anybody in the room.

Speaker 12 (27:56):
I mean, I'd rather be in that position. I think
more less than nothing, do less.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
Oklahoma State at Kansas State, Okay, this is to stay
in the hunt for the Big twelve title game. Cowboys
lost to Utah and well both teams lost, right, didn't
k State lose at BYU? That does that sound right?

(28:29):
Let me see what else do we have here? Vikings Packers.
I guess Jordan Love, Jordan Love, Sam Darnold and that
Brian Flores defense that is wreaking havoc.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
It's kind of annoying that the Packers look good even
without Jordan Love like it kind of he hasn't had
enough time there yet to already have another guy come
in and be like, oh, yeah, that's okay.

Speaker 2 (28:55):
Well yeah, And then we had a caller yesterday saying, hey,
do you think the Packers might stay with Malik Willis.
I go, no, No, that's not going to happen.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
That's Sam Darnold, by the way, for the Viking.

Speaker 12 (29:06):
Yes, the Vikings are three point underdogs in that too.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
And that's at Minnesota. No, it's at Green Bay. Yeah
that makes sense. Yeah, commanders at the Cardinals. So Kyler Murray, Jaden.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
Daniels, the Cliff Kingsbury ball.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
Who rushes for more yards? Kyler Murray or Jaden Daniels.
And then you have the Bills in the Ravens. This
is good. You got Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen.

Speaker 5 (29:41):
It's like Patrick Ewing versus calm Alone.

Speaker 3 (29:44):
Okay, you're only watching one of those. This weekend is
a Georgia Alabama.

Speaker 2 (29:49):
Uh yeah, it's gotta be. Yeah, I think because of
the implications there. Calen de Boor that's a massive game
for him. Yeah, it's the perception game for him. This
is where you win and all of a sudden people
go Okay, he can go yeah, this is real. He
can coach.

Speaker 7 (30:05):
Yes, Mark, And also for the Alabama program as a whole,
they used to be what Georgia is now and maybe
they're just trying to take that back at least for
you know, perception wise.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
Like you said, so sliding into the weekend courtesy of
King Sawaiian. They want you to get together with family
and friends and enjoy the weekend by making every Sunday
a slider Sunday. We'll take a break, we'll come back.
Our play of the day, Dylan. Thank you, round of
applause for Dylan Yah. All right, the smartest guy in
the room doing less with his talents. Your mom must

(30:39):
be so proud of you. We'll take a break. We're
back after this.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio.

Speaker 13 (30:52):
Wap oh my God.

Speaker 11 (30:57):
Of the day.

Speaker 13 (31:01):
Face is the play of the day.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
Shake this up and the delivery now and that's I
on a fly ball left field that's playable length for
coming on toward the line, fighting the.

Speaker 14 (31:11):
Sun and he drops it and scoring is Wilson and
the As take a three nothing league. It is so
appropriate after all these years and we've talked about it
day baseball, last game ever at the Coliseum and the
Colisseum Sun strikes again.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
That's courtesy of the A's Radio network. That's your play
of the day. Oakland Coliseum is one of ten Major
League Baseball parks where the home team has won at
least two thousand games and lost at least two thousand games.
The A's conclude their Colisseum run with an all time
record of two four and ninety two wins and exactly

(31:56):
two thousand losses. That is your play of the day,
brought to you by the Great Foot tire rack dot com.

(32:17):
Way Tire Buying Should Be. We'll have more on the
Oakland A's exit from Oakland. Now you've had so the Raiders,
you've had the A's, and you've had the Golden State
Warriors all leaving the city of Oakland and now going
to relocate in Las Vegas, but having a pit stop
in Sacramento the next couple of years. And I know

(32:39):
that there's you know, heartfelt condolences and everybody's disappointed and
it's sad, and I just wondered, did the commissioner have
any role in this? And yes, he did because I
think he waived the relocation fee, but I think baseball
wanted a team in Vegas. I don't know if this

(32:59):
owned John Fisher wanted to stay in Oakland. Certainly doesn't
sound like that. But I don't know if the other owners,
you know, are bothered by this because you're not getting
a relocation fee reportedly, so now you're gonna send your
teams to Vegas. But yeah, I mean it's disappointing. They've
had so many great teams, so many great players. But

(33:21):
could this owner have done more? I guess you could
always do more, But it certainly felt like that's one
of those where you go, man, it's a shame. Guess
we're gonna have to go to Vegas get a new stadium. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
Yeah, it does feel like by the time an owner
makes up their mind that are they're like or even
flirting with the idea of like, you know what, I
think we're gonna get out of here, it's already done.
Like there's no kind of like if you hear a
football player talk about the minute you start thinking about retirement,
you're already retired.

Speaker 2 (33:51):
Like it's just not and is it the commissioner's job
to prevent the move from Oakland to Vegas? Should it
be part of his job? Could the other owners stop
this if they wanted to? Is there too much money
to be made? You want to be in Vegas? I mean,
who would have thought that the NBA is going to

(34:13):
be the last major sport to be in there and
have a franchise there, and that all happen in the
next couple of years. You'll have one in Vegas, in
one in Seattle. But they've had Summer League basketball, they
had an All Star Game there. What was that fifteen
years ago?

Speaker 11 (34:27):
Seven?

Speaker 2 (34:28):
Yeah? Who would have thought? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (34:30):
Say, I would think it's the exact opposite. I think
it's Manfred's job to make moves like this. It's his
job to make sure from the league. Now, I'm not
saying that I agree with it, but I would imagine
it was his job to make sure that he has
baseball teams in the appropriate cities and the ones that
are supporting them. So it's not a statement on Oakland

(34:52):
as a city, but I would imagine that he's supposed
to be the guy that's managing all of those things, right,
relocation fees and what's the best market for us to
make the most money as a league, as an organization.
I would imagine that he's the guy pushing those things
rather than I mean, he would stop them if it
wasn't the right fit. Well, we have to approve the

(35:14):
next location, right.

Speaker 2 (35:15):
Yes, And do I think it's the smart business move? Yeah?
I do. I understand it. But you've had, you know,
expansion franchises in some of the other sports that go
in there. Now the Raiders leaving Oakland, but you know,
you have the Las Vegas Aces that went in there.
You have the Golden Knights, they were an expansion franchise

(35:37):
as well in the NHL, and you're going to have
an expansion franchise in the NBA as well. I don't
think you're going to get a relocation project there in Vegas.
But yeah, I was just wondering about how much of
a job is it that the commissioner stops his situation
like this. It feels like he encouraged a situation. If
you're going to waive the relocation fee, I'm guessing that's

(36:01):
a couple one hundred million dollars here, right, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
Well, it feels like besides TV rights, you know, gambling,
whether it's like actual gambling or fantasy sports is what's
keeping so many of these things alive, right or afloat there.
There's such the main business drivers behind all different leagues, right,

(36:25):
so it would make sense that Vegas would be an
attractive destination for every lead.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
Well, Baseball wants to get into the gambling part of this,
whether they admit to it or not. You want fantasy,
you want You got the NFL. That's your model, that's
your financial model. Now everybody's trying to tap into that.
How do we get that money? How do people play
fantasy with baseball? Get back into it? As far as
betting on games, I mean, that's what you want, That's

(36:53):
that's where you're getting even more revenue here.

Speaker 7 (36:55):
Yes, Marvin, going back to Vegas, how do you build
a fan base in Las Vegas? Since it's so tourist heavy,
how do you build a fan base, especially with one
hundred eighty one home games?

Speaker 2 (37:07):
It'll be tough, but I would have I don't know
what the renderings are for that new stadium, but I
would have a quaint thirty five thousand, and I would
have a retractable roof. And I know you want to
get concerts in there. You want to have an outdoor
like an amphitheater type venue. I'm going to guess, but
playing baseball. They're not going to be playing baseball during

(37:27):
the day. It'll be like Arlington with the Rangers. We're
going to start at six o'clock at the earliest. There
a couple of phone calls Andrew and Washington. Hey Andrew,
what's on your mind today?

Speaker 15 (37:39):
Hey, good morning dan And to dan Ette. I'm just
happy to meet Friday. I had maybe a topic and
I also have a stat but we might have buried
the lead. I don't know if we had the wrestling
brand from the high school gym that was commenting on
Terry Funky. You guys got to thank you for what you.

Speaker 11 (37:56):
Do each day.

Speaker 15 (37:58):
From an earlier caller, I didn't know if it was
still real to him. Damn it as well. So anyways,
I was going to ask. We talked about this on Tuesday.
The most turnovers in the NFL since twenty twenty one
are Trevor Lawrence, Josh Allen, and Pat Mahomes. So our
turnovers for quarterbacks not as important, sort of like strikeouts
aren't as important for hitters in baseball anymore. I wanted

(38:22):
to hear what you thought the comparison would be for that,
and my stat of the day is for Pauli his
birthday week. Army's forty two fourteen win over Temple kept
him tied with Missouri, which is at eight consecutive wins,
which is the longest active streaks in the SBS.

Speaker 6 (38:40):
Statu the Day Statu, the Day Status, the Day Status,
the Day stat of the Day scatup Day stat of
the Day.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
I watched a good portion of the first half of
Army and I was not surprised at all. I mean,
they jumped out fourteen thing and they roughed up Temple there.
I did watch a little bit of the documentary on
Vince McMahon called mister McMahon. Now I'm not a wrestling fan,
but I love watching what is a business model that

(39:15):
has been a billion dollar business model? You know, Vince,
I don't know how much control he had over this.
I think he said that he didn't and from what
I've seen so far, I'm probably forty minutes in. You know,
he's going to get roughed up here. But it does
explain a lot of things with his father. He takes

(39:36):
over what he wanted to do and it used to
be where you were. All it was geographical wrestling. And
I remember living in Atlanta and they had wrestling there
and it was in that area. And then you had
the Northeast, and then you had the Midwest, and you
had Pacific Northwest, and nobody was cannibalizing anybody else. It

(39:57):
was that's your region, all of us. Sudden, Vince McMahon said,
I've got haul Kogan, I'm coming after all of you,
and he did, and he created something. Now his dad
already created it, but he took it and then he
made it showtime. He made it entertainment, Yes, Mark, Yeah.

Speaker 7 (40:16):
Vis McMahon is a visionary, like on the Walt Disney level.
And I'm not even trying to be funny, like what
he's done with pro wrestling aka sports entertainment is unbelievable.
Where they're doing stadiums now on a regular basis unbelievable,
especially for something that was just territorial at one point.

Speaker 8 (40:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (40:34):
Yeah, So I'm looking forward to watching the rest of
that at some point this weekend. All right, our two
is on the way. We'll talk to the former NFL
quarterback Mark Sanchez will stop by. I guess they're going
to proceed with the Shoho Tani baseball auction that could
bring in close to four million dollars. Have more on

(40:55):
that as well.
