They are in the top five in football. They've never
(00:37):
been in the top five basketball, but not football. Have
they become a football school?
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Question?
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Mark Lewis Riddick from the Mothership will join us. We
will give you our best and worst of the weekend.
Got our play of the day, poll, question, stat of
the day? All of that forthcoming stat of the day
has always brought to you by Panini America, the official

Show on the calendars, Thank you. The twenty twenty five
calendars available at Danpatrick dot com. Did let my wife
(01:07):
see the calendars? She stopped at the month of May
where Fritzie has his shirt off and he is he's
channeling Rocky three.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
Yeah, with an interesting name above. I don't want to
give it away, but there's a clever name.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
She was like, is that photoshopped? I go, nope, that's
all Todd All Todd.
Speaker 4 (01:28):
Thankfully a strategically placed a belt in the mid six.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
It's okay, doesn't matter, nobody needs to know that. I
wasn't going to tell anybody, but yeah, the calendar has
been great, big hit. Rapid Radio sponsored the first hour
instant Push to Talkualkie Talkies offering national LTE coverage, clear connection,
touch of a button, great communication device for kids after school.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
We use them on the show.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Go to Rapid Radios dot com from the sixty percent
off and free shipping. When you think of the best
teams in the NFL, we like to think of those. Wow,
they're blown people out, they're winning by three touchdowns. Well,
the Lions last night we realized they are a great team.
When you're not playing well and you still win and
(02:11):
you're beating a playoff caliber team, that tells you something.
About them. Now, we've talked about the Chiefs before. I
don't think offensively they played great. Mahomes was sacked four
times against Denver, they had fifty seven yards rushing, they
had six points in the second half, still found a
way to win. Jared Goff throws five interceptions, the Lions
(02:32):
eventually squeak out a three point win. Both teams talented rosters,
but you don't see them in these scenarios very often.
But when you do, it tells me more about you
as a team, because you're going to have close games
in the playoffs. During the regular season, games can get
out of hand, get away from you, and you are
(02:53):
going to see those blowouts. But in the postseason, you're
going to have games when you're not playing your best.
And we saw that with the Lions and the Chiefs
both yesterday in the afternoon and last night. But the
Lions end up getting the win, the Chiefs still undefeated,
the first reigning Super Bowl champ to win their first
nine games since the twenty eleven Green Bay Packers, who
(03:14):
started out thirteen to no.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
WHOA stall of a day, stalling a day, start out
a day, start out a day.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
This is the state.
Speaker 6 (03:27):
Of the day.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
Here's how the Kansas City Chiefs stayed undefeated.
Speaker 7 (03:36):
Clock's waiting for the snap placement is.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Down, let us take us block.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
Let's bucked.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
It blocked the chase block attack. You're not gonna stay undefeated.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
The Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 7 (03:50):
Blocked a thirty five yark field goal attack can Czos
City wins this game on the block field.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Goal, as you might expect.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
That's the Kansas City, the Chiefs broadcasting team, the Chiefs
radio network.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Here is the Broncos call snap placement kick on the
way it is blocked.
Speaker 7 (04:15):
I don't even know what to say. I really they
met a loss for wards. Thirty five yard field goal
blocked with one second to go, and Kansas City is
going to get out of here with a sixteen to fourteen.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
Win over the Broncos.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
So the Kansas City Chiefs are nine to zero. Niners
survived the Buccaneers, Steelers over the Commanders. You know what's
not a good story for people to tell when Russell
Wilson plays well. When he doesn't play well, then it's
a big story. He's playing well, He's playing well enough,
and they picked up a win against the Commanders. The
Lions scrambled to beat the Texans. I watched a lot
(04:52):
of the Cardinals against the Jets. Cardinals were really good,
they were the best team. They were certainly the better
team on the field, and I'm watching Aaron Rodgers. No, well,
I'm not going to make this comparison, but it did
flash in front of me. Aaron just looks slow. He
does look older, and he should because he is older.
(05:12):
But he was scrambling out of the pocket at one
point going left and he didn't realize somebody was right
behind him, got sacked and he's just on the ground
and you could see him kind of laboring to get up.
I don't know if he was banged up as much
as he was just what am I doing out here?
And it reminded me Willie Mays in center field for
the Mets, Joe Namath at the end of his career,
(05:33):
Johnny Unitas at the end of his career. Where you
just go, man, you don't want to say somebody's washed.
It just doesn't feel like there's anything there. And they
are a good team. They're a talented team. Let me
take that back. They're a talented team. Second half they
look spent. That defense was on the field and give
(05:53):
the Cardinals credit. It shouldn't be about the Jets. It
should be about the Cardinals, and they were the better team.
And Kyler Murray played well and they run hard, they
play hard, and they won four games in a row.
So good for the Cardinals because it's been a while
since we've looked at them and said.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
You know, they're pretty good, they're competitive.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
Now you have to say they could win the division,
which is pretty remarkable. Rams in action tonight speaking of
the NFC West against the Rams and the Dolphins against
the Rams, and the Rams are favored by two and
a half. You also had the Patriots over the Bears.
Takes panic time in Chicago. Somebody, somebody has to get
(06:41):
fired in Chicago today, anybody.
Speaker 8 (06:45):
You know.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
The poor team manager walks in, Hey, Skippy, gotta fire you.
Why we got to fire somebody special teams coach. Somebody's
got to get fired. Yeah, Seed.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
How does it seem to happen all the time too,
that when there's two quarterbacks taken at the top of
the draft, the second one taken is always the better one.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
You know?
Speaker 2 (07:06):
How does that keep happening?
Speaker 5 (07:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (07:07):
I know, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Caleb Williams. This ain't usc And you know you see
this with young quarterbacks. They're always half a second late
on things, or they hold onto the ball too much
because in college I made things happen. Hey, in college,
those guys were wide open. Well they're not. You could
see Caleb Williams as a half a second slow, and
(07:31):
that is an eternity in the NFL, Eagles over the Cowboys.
I'm watching the game and I love the reaction of
people when they talk about the sun.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
You know that it's in your eyes. And you know
you had.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
Ceedee Lamb who was complaining about the sun in his eyes,
and Jerry Jones is asked about the sun, Well, this
has been an issue. They know where the sun is
because almost all of their games are played on what
at four point thirty in the afternoon or Sunday night.
You don't have to worry about it, or Monday night.
(08:10):
They don't play one o'clock games. They're the Cowboys. They're
at four point thirty. You know where the sun's going
to be. And then people are as if it just
happened like the sun just changed. But you build a stadium,
you know you know where the sun is going to
be at one time. When you build a baseball stadium, Hey,
(08:30):
where's the sun going to be? Is there a sunfield?
Are there going to be shadows?
Speaker 8 (08:34):
Like?
Speaker 3 (08:34):
This is just normal common sense. But because you have
a dome, you don't think of the sun. I mean
the Cowboys stadium where they used to have the hole
in the roof so God could watch the Cowboy nonsense.
But now you have the sunshine there. Now they're talking
about can we get the sound with Jerry Jones? Do
we is that available?
Speaker 2 (08:53):
Marvin?
Speaker 4 (08:54):
Look, it's not the greatest sound, it's not the greatest quality,
but I look for it.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Okay, Well he sounded like he was just well he
should be. The team is terrible. I mean, this is
Let me see if I have the numbers here. These
are historical runs in a bad way. Let me see
if I can find this. And it looks like Dak's
going to be out for the rest of the season
(09:17):
with surgery.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
Oh. Here you go.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
Over the last five home games, if you include the
playoffs from last year with Green Bay, the Cowboys have
allowed two hundred and one points. Two hundred and one
points That is the most by any team over a
five game home span home span since nineteen sixty two.
Stat of the day, sat of the day, that beast
(09:44):
stat of the day, stat.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Of the day here comes that what stat of the day?
Speaker 3 (09:53):
Bills are now quietly eight and two. Got the Chiefs
coming to town. Chargers in now six and three. Just
some of the headlines and Dolphins at the Rams. The
Rams are favored by two and a half. College football, boy, Miami,
did they screw that up? You had cam Ward Heisman candidate.
You're going to have a first round by probably host
(10:13):
a game in the playoffs. Old Miss dropped Georgia Indiana
over Michigan BYU survive Utah and LSU is firing some people,
not the head coach, Like somebody's got to get fired,
Like you have to give the presentation of we're doing something.
Florida State has won one game this year. I'm watching
(10:35):
Georgia and we've said this before. They have a quarterback
who I think people are trying to shoehorn into the
first round.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
I don't get it.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
I said that, you know earlier this year had a
lot of weapons last year. It just doesn't seem to
rise to the occasion. But Old Miss was the better team.
Both sides of the ball. The better team there, Indiana
holding off Michigan. Keep waiting for Michigan to be Michigan
at least one game this year. I don't know if
that's going to happen at all. There's no offense whatsoever.
(11:05):
But get credit to Georgia Tech dropping Miami there. So
there was a lot of interesting football over the weekend,
certainly with college football. And this is where you can't
afford a loss in the NFL. You can afford a
loss in college football, not now when you get into November.
If the Lions lost last night, there's you know, there's
still one of the best teams in the in the NFC.
(11:25):
You just you can't have one of those losses where
you go and you know, then I look at Tampa Bay.
I mean, it was a win for San Francisco, it
just didn't feel like it was a win with a
capitol w. Tampa Bay is really good for a team
that has a losing record. I don't know if there's
a better team with a losing record than the Buccaneers
(11:47):
we're playing that game.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
I don't know. I'm just I'm just you know, throwing
that out there.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Now, who's good who's really good, and the Buccaneers went
toe to toe with them. Now, it helped that San
Francisco's kicker missed with three field goals there, but they
end up squeaking out a win at the end, but
the Tampa Bay with a losing record, and Baker Mayfield
had one of those highlight reel plays with Nick Bosa
(12:14):
holding on to him and he ends up see Tom
Brady called it one of the best plays he's ever
seen a quarterback mate. It's not It was a really
good play. But if you watch Bosa, Bosa doesn't know
what he's allowed to do to Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
I mean, he's a.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
Larger player and bigger player, and he am I allowed
to bring him down?
Speaker 2 (12:39):
Like what am I allowed to do?
Speaker 3 (12:41):
So he was sort of slow dancing with him and
then Baker Mayfield held him off, held him off, and
then completed the pass. I think this had more to
do with Bosa just didn't know. Am I going to
get flagged? Is there going to be a hip drop here?
Speaker 9 (12:54):
Like?
Speaker 3 (12:54):
Am I going to get called for roughing the pen?
He didn't know what to do, but Baker kept the
play alive. But is it one of the greatest plays
I've seen a quarterback make.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
No, it's not.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
No, not an over fifty years of watching football, No,
it's not. It is a unique play because of where
we are in today's NFL of what can you and
what can you not do to a quarterback? And it
always starts to me with Patrick Mahomes. Defenders have no
idea what they're allowed to do or not allowed to do.
(13:26):
Amazing and you saw that with the Baker Mayfield junior
the third. All right, Seaton, give me one suggestion for
a pole question, then I'll hear the other ones after
the break.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
We might start right there with the Bosa Mayfield players.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
Okay, well, okay, well, let me ask you guys, great
one of the greatest plays you've ever seen a quarterback?
Make Todd Yes, okay, Seaton no, Marvin no, Paully not ever.
Speaker 2 (13:52):
No. Okay, So is that going to be the pole question? Well,
I was going to say, is that more of a
great play by me? Or confusion from Bosa?
Speaker 5 (14:03):
I think it doesn't make a lot of sense to
watch him running holding Baker Mayfield's arm like that kind
of like.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
Uh, pull him down, dude, what are you doing?
Speaker 3 (14:11):
Like I can't let you go, but I don't know
what I'm allowed to do with you.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
And at the same time, if Nick Bosa does pull
him down.
Speaker 5 (14:20):
By that arm and his arm comes out of the
socket or something liter that, well yeah, I mean it
could shoulder could like pop out.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Then is that a dirty play? I have no idea.
I don't know either.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
I don't think Bosa knew what he was supposed to do,
because normally you would just I would just take you
and you know, slam your head into the turf. So
that's the way it used to be in my day.
But you know, Baker's sort of like Baker is holding
off Bosa.
Speaker 10 (14:48):
Come on, yes, yeah, because Baker's, like you said, smaller,
not the most physical. He's not Josh Allen. He's riding
that stiff arm for like four or five seconds and
then he completes the pass.
Speaker 2 (14:59):
He didn't just like hold him. Yeah, well he completed
his seven yard pass.
Speaker 10 (15:03):
It's one of the cooler plays of the season.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Okay, it is a cool play. I don't know that's
one of the greatest plays.
Speaker 8 (15:11):
I know.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
It is pretty cool because it's just so odd.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
It's odd because Bosa doesn't know what he's allowed to do.
I mean, Baker, give him credit, he kept it alive.
But Bosa's just sort of like, uh, let's dance and
then am I allowed to do anything? Here?
Speaker 2 (15:26):
Nick, talk about why you didn't you tackle Baker on
that play?
Speaker 3 (15:29):
All right, let's take a break here, we'll settle on
a poll question. We got phone calls coming out.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
We got a lot of things to discuss on this
Monday morning. Back after this.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
All right, we'll settle on a pole question. Phone calls
always welcome each seven to seven three. DP Show email

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Twitter handle at DP show.
Speaker 11 (16:02):
Seeton.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
What's the other suggestions for a poll question on this
Monday morning?
Speaker 2 (16:06):
Why don't we start with, Well, we have who had
the worst weekend?
Speaker 5 (16:10):
We could also have the sub category of which quarterback
had the worst weekend?
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Lots of options there, two of whom won. Okay, so
Jared Goff is in there.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
Yes, Jared Goff is in there, and.
Speaker 10 (16:23):
Yes, Paul I would remove Jared Goff from this pole question.
He had a good weekend, not a bad weekend.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
I wouldn't agree with that, no, because the perception of
what he had built up just just fell apart.
Speaker 8 (16:39):
See.
Speaker 10 (16:39):
I think it's a blip, not a judgment. Three bad
quarters and one really good quarter that a lot of
people went to bed and didn't see. Most of America
didn't see the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (16:51):
I think it was a that was a perception hit.
Speaker 10 (16:56):
I think it was a two hour perception hit. He
built up a lot of credibility.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
Yeah, but we're trying to put him and I heard
from people saying, oh, you're MVP candidates throwing five interceptions?
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Yes, I know.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
I think two of them were his fault absolutely. I
mean it's still five on his resume there. But I
think we're trying to put him in that category with
Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes, and we
shouldn't put him in there right now. He's going to
have to earn our trust back.
Speaker 10 (17:29):
Mahomes has twelve touchdowns and nine picks.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
Mahomes shouldn't be in there with Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson.
But the thing with you know, with Patrick Mahomes is
we know what he does when he gets to the postseason.
He hasn't been great by any stretch, but they do win,
and he's been clutch in those games. It's almost like
it's t bow time. You're like, well, what are you
(17:54):
doing the other three and a half quarters? Because you
shouldn't have to be scrambling and trying to count these wins.
That's the feeling I get. He does know how to win,
but that doesn't mean value wise, Lamar Jackson is your
MVP right now then, Josh Allen, Yes, Seaton.
Speaker 5 (18:12):
If you're if you're a fella who's trying to not
rebuild the perception, but build a positive perception around yourself,
you can't afford a game with five interceptions. If the
whole idea is that teams won in spite of you,
and then you're like, yeah, look I threw five interceptions
(18:32):
and we won.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
They won in spite of me.
Speaker 5 (18:34):
That's sort of reinforcing the very stereotype or the thing
that you're trying to get rid of.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
That is true, Paulie, I'll let you have the last word.
Speaker 10 (18:42):
A fair point. These are fair points. How about this
a five minute poll question. Let the fans decide did
Jared Goff, have a good night, bad night, Okay, and
I will yield to the floor.
Speaker 6 (18:51):
Yield to the floor, yield to the audience. Yes, Seaton,
I would also throw in there. We will do the
Jared Goff good night, bad night poll question. Would you
rather throw five interceptions and win? Or that's say, five
receiving touchdowns and lose?
Speaker 2 (19:10):
Wait?
Speaker 3 (19:10):
Would I rather throw five interceptions and we lose? Or
throw five touchdown passes?
Speaker 5 (19:15):
Now, you throw five interceptions and we can win wins
and then or five? Or you could be a wide
receiver and get that's only happened to think a couple
of times in history where one a receiver has five
touchdowns in one game.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
Oh I if I'm a receiver. Yeah, yeah, receivers can
be selfish.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
You're allowed to.
Speaker 3 (19:33):
Yes, yes, yes, I did everything I could. Hey, I
only handle the ball so much.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
My fault. I mean C. J. Stroud had a bad
night too.
Speaker 3 (19:43):
Uh yeah, I would say Jared Goff had a bad night,
five interceptions and they won in spite of you.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
All right, that's the five minute pole question there.
Speaker 5 (19:56):
Well, we also have back to the original poll question
this Now we're on pull question at AD and C
and now back to a Aaron Rodgers, which quarterback had
the worst weekend? He had a terrible weekend. Caleb Williams
had a horrible weekend.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
Well, okay, we thought they were shoring up the offensive line.
He got hit, he got sacked, and you combine those
with a guy who is a split second late on decisions,
and it is a Molotov cocktail.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
Yes. See, how many of those hits and sacks are
on Caleb willis a lot?
Speaker 5 (20:34):
He does hold the ball that I mean, like you
look at the it's easy to look at the offensive line,
but it's like, fella, you gotta be you gotta have
some pocket awareness.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
Correct, Yes, yes, you got to move a little bit.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
You just once again, it's not usc You can't just
dance around there, because that's what he did. Everybody thinks
they're mahomes until he realized you're not mahomes. There's only
one of those dudes. And even he knows what he
can and can't do. Get rid of the ball. Yeah,
don't take a sack, don't force and you know what,
(21:09):
that's the second week in a row that Caleb Williams
has been outplayed by quarterbacks who were taken after him
in the draft. Drake May's good on a terribly limited
offensive team. He is, could I see a lot of
progress with him?
Speaker 5 (21:26):
Yeah, I'm sure it is possible that you could say
it's a little bit of a stretch, but Kayleb Williams
is the fourth best quarterback right.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
Now taken this year. I don't think you would get
much of an argument right now. I don't think you
would Bo Nicks. You know, he had a touchdown pass
against the Chiefs. He kept them in the game, So
I would say, yeah, Caleb Williams is probably the worst
(21:54):
quarterback out of the group that got taken in the
first round.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
There, Oh my god, creepers.
Speaker 10 (22:00):
I gotta tell you, I got a stomach ache.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 10 (22:05):
I'm going to give you twenty seconds on the current
mentality of a Bears fan. All the Bears fans want
the coordinators fired and the coach fired and blame the
office lineus we because we will delusionally defend Caleb Williams
because we can't believe they got it wrong. Again, it's
too early to say that clearly, but for a Bears
fan to think he may not work out when he
(22:26):
was the prize of the past five years. Is is
gut wrenching to even consider.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Well, here's the problem.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
That the wave of emotions back and forth of oh
my god, we're going to be a playoff team to
oh my god, we're terrible. Oh you got to fire him,
Oh we got the wrong quarterback. Like the problem is
the expectation level in Chicago was through the roof. He's
looking like a rookie, acts like a rookie, plays like
(22:55):
a rookie. And when you don't have an offensive line,
you're going to get even further exposed. And we've seen
that so far. I just I need to limit him.
It's like Bryce Young and I said, I'm rooting for
the guy and I'm happy they got that win in Germany,
and he looks like he's processing a little bit more.
(23:16):
Quarterbacks will tell you the same thing. When you're a
rookie your second year, like you want things to eventually
slow down, and when they slow down, that's when you
know you're able to really make that big stride, that
big step up. Use your second to third year, that's
when you've accumulated enough snaps, you've seen everything that they're
(23:37):
going to throw at you. You go through your division
so you're seeing if they have a book on you,
what is the book on you? What do they want
you to do and not do? And then you start
to see is their progress there, like will Levice, I'm
waiting to see it, and it's not there. But you
start to see these quarterbacks and you go, okay, let
me give you two years now. We don't want to
(23:57):
do that. That's not any fun. Like patience, Like nobody
wants to have patience. Caleb Williams, I don't care how
good you were in college. I don't care you got weapons,
Do you have a good offensive game plan? Do you
have time? Are you the problem because you don't have time?
C J Stroud changed everything. I go back to Cam
(24:19):
Newton his rookie year. You know, guys don't normally play
that way. And you're starting to see Caleb Williams is
acting like a rookie, so you shouldn't be surprised. But
are they going to have a new coach next year? Yes,
and they should have had one this year, which it
just boggles the mind that you have a guy who's
(24:41):
a lane duck coach with a rookie quarterback the number
one pick in the draft. It's very very rare when
the number one pick in the draft, a quarterback goes
to a team that appeared to be on the verge
of making the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
Doesn't happen. But that's what Caleb walked into.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
But you have a coach who's a duck coach, and
he's like, look at the second half of the season
schedule for Chicago. I mean they might get two wins.
Maybe they got the Lions twice. I think they still
have the Vikings twice or Packers twice. I mean.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
They got to play San Francisco at San Francisco Hello. Draft, Yes, yeah.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
But you know the expectation level, you know, no expectation
level on Drake May Nobody, nobody had any Well, let's
see what he can do. So it does help him.
I think Bo Nicks there were expectations because they got
rid of Russell Wilson and they're like, all right, Sean
Payton got his quarterback. And I think Bo plays pretty well,
(25:45):
like he's.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
Competent back there.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
I mean he's still a rookie making silly mistakes there,
but I mean they almost beat Kansas City in Kansas City,
so I have to give credit there. What was it
like you're lining up game winning field goal and you
were sitting at home.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
I was very excited.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
My wife was upstairs and I screamed for her to
come down because he was watching bits and piece of
the game.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
I'm saying, you got to come see this.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
We haven't beaten the Chiefs in Kansas City since twenty fifteen.
We're about to ruin the Chiefs undefeated season, and we're
going to be six and four and writing them playoff
mix and this is great, and we're going to stick
it to the Chiefs and Taylor Swift and Travis Kelcey
and Mahomes and they're about to kick a.
Speaker 3 (26:27):
Winning field and then it sounded like this snap placement
kick on the way it is blocked.
Speaker 7 (26:39):
I don't even know what to say. I really I
met a loss for words. Thirty five yardfield goal blocked
with one second to go in Kansas City is going
to get out of here with a sixteen to fourteen win.
Speaker 10 (26:52):
Over the Broncos.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
What was going on right at that moment?
Speaker 4 (26:56):
My wife knew to tiptoe up back up the stairs
the stat where if didn't even try to console me.
I stared at the screen for I think several minutes
in denial before I started cursing and yelling and screaming
and getting into my.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
Eight year old temper tantrum.
Speaker 4 (27:10):
Oh and thinking about all the things that they could
have accomplished by winning that game, including that they've lost
to them like seventeen or eighteen times and it's been
almost a decade since they won in Kansas City, and
how it affects the playoff race too.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
Who do you think was more upset you with your
Broncos or Jerry Jones being asked about the sun at
Cowboys Stadium?
Speaker 12 (27:32):
So we did know where the damn sound's going to
be on our own sighting, Why not.
Speaker 10 (27:36):
What the curtains are?
Speaker 2 (27:37):
Why not mitigate that the sun and seam.
Speaker 12 (27:41):
Sharing the damn stadium down built?
Speaker 2 (27:43):
You can't name, but it's not. You don't have to
go back.
Speaker 12 (27:46):
It's got the same thing. Ever, team that comes in
here has the same issues. I know what the soun's
going to be, So our team has the same thing.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
So azamor On might not understanding where the Sunday.
Speaker 12 (27:59):
Is it not he was saying, I'm saying the world
knows where the sun is. I get to know that
almost a year in advance. So someone asked me about
the sun, and what about the sun?
Speaker 13 (28:10):
Where's the moon.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
Clips? What about the moon?
Speaker 6 (28:18):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
If the moon gets in your eye like a big
pizza pie, that's a more Yes.
Speaker 5 (28:23):
It is a fascinating study on man's unwillingness to admit
they were wrong. Yes, to just be like, they have
the curtains up in the stadium, they use them for concerts.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
They are already there.
Speaker 5 (28:37):
He's just choosing to say no, I want the sun
shining through.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
I'm not going to close them.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
He's just choosing to do that. But this has been
around since they built this stadium. It's been an issue,
but it seems like it's now more of an issue.
We're seeing receivers with the sun in their eyes. If
I'm the Cowboys, I try to have a marketing My
marketing group cowboy sunglasses, and I would sell them for
(29:04):
those who have the sun in their eyes when you're
watching the game. We have Cowboy sunglasses here. Let's turn
this into a positive. Yes, Paul, So, at.
Speaker 10 (29:12):
First, when I saw the play and cdee Lamb puts
his hands out there, you know there's nothing there because
he doesn't know where the ball is the cameraman I
don't know what network the game was on, comes around
and steps into the end zone at the exact spot.
It's blinding. I mean it is low. It's like when
you drive at five o'clock in the afternoon and the
sun is in your car. That's what it looked like
from that position.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Had you been there for years?
Speaker 5 (29:36):
Yes, just like Jerry being like, well, like both teams
have to deal with the sun. The Cowboys have nine
home games this year. That's nine games that they're going
to have to deal with it, versus say, the I
don't know Saints coming in once. Like, man, that sun
there really sucks. Oh well, I don't know why you would.
It's like the Yankees have the short porch and right
(29:57):
field and it's an advantage for them. Jerry Jones de
liberately made it harder for the Cowboys by blinding them.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
Half of the candy.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
Yeah, you know, but that's his taj Mahal. He built
this thing, and you know it's it was state of
the art. Everybody loved it. Vegas Jumbo Tron. You know,
everything's bigger in Texas and now all of a sudden,
you know, you got the sun.
Speaker 5 (30:21):
Yes to be fair to Jerry Jones, I too would
be humiliated if I spent all of that money building
this and the minute they open the stadium, the sun
comes shining through and people are like, that's gonna be
a problem. No, no, no, no, no no, it's okay,
now great, it's been like fifteen years now, but it's
(30:42):
it's a recurring issue. And rather than fix it, I mean,
I get why he might be embarrassed by that.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
Okay, do you want to be embarrassed by it or
do you want your team to underperform because of it?
Speaker 2 (30:57):
Just close the curtains that are already there. That's all there,
ready in the stadium.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
He's doubling down on this instead of just saying, you
know what, you're right, you know, and I'm gonna talk
to CD. You know, he couldn't see it, and you
know this, this could be an issue, and we're going
to close it.
Speaker 5 (31:15):
All you gotta do is close it and then you're done.
All he has to do is say, wow, you know what,
you're right. My bad, I was wrong. Just admit that
you're wrong.
Speaker 3 (31:22):
But I can't imagine they got together with the architect
and the architect not saying or you saying, hey, later
in the afternoon, where's the sun going to be?
Speaker 2 (31:34):
Can we test this? Can we stand.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
Here at you know, three point thirty four thirty five
thirty in the afternoon, just local time, and.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
See where where's the sun? Wow? That man, that's bright.
Let's do it. See.
Speaker 5 (31:51):
I think that the they got together with the architect
and deliberately did that as a feature of the stadium.
Speaker 2 (31:59):
Is this to be a home field advantage?
Speaker 5 (32:01):
I think that they did it as like, ay, look
and there's gonna be a big window here, and every
day the sun is gonna come right through, so.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
You're taking a little bit of the outside in.
Speaker 5 (32:09):
It's not gonna be like New Orleans where it's cold
and inside and dark and that weird light. That's We're
gonna have natural light. It's gonna feel like you're inside
end outside, just like the retractable roof.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
But when we close the roof, you still get.
Speaker 5 (32:20):
The sunlight coming in. It's gonna be gorgeous because it
does look beautiful.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
Well you as long as you're not playing, you have
the shadows of old Texas.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
Stadium with the hole in the roof.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
You know, you're like, okay, and the sun it's Hey,
the sun is shining on the cowboys and God can
watch the cowboys.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
What about the moon?
Speaker 11 (32:43):
The moon is right there, like yeah, dude, Oh the
gift that keeps on giving the idea that he's just like,
I don't have time for the sun.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
Nonsense. I don't have time to deal with this. I
have real problems to fix that.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
Seeee.
Speaker 5 (32:58):
Lamb is like wave in front of his face. I
can't see anything. Hey, but my guy, Trey Lance got
to play a little bit. I kept saying, put him in,
let's go, put me in, coach. I'm ready to play. Yeah, Paulie.
Speaker 10 (33:11):
You know the Colts have a similar setup at their stadium,
Lucas Oil, where the end zone when the sun goes down,
cuts through there. But it's more on an angle and
I looked at a couple of different websites. It hits the
sidelines more than the dead at the players in the
end zone. They also have a shading system that they
put in case they have a late afternoon game. They
prepared for it.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
You can put a shading system on those windows, like
you know the kids in the.
Speaker 10 (33:36):
Back seat on the suv and they got a little
pull down thing get one of those big, old pull
down things.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
That is the least of their worries though the sunshine.
They have other issues, far bigger issues. I will say,
Micah Parsons, welcome back. Damn heave is all over the place.
But Cooper rush not good. I would ask Michael Parsons
(34:01):
if he wanted to play running back, and I would.
I would just say, Michael, how about we make you,
you know, two way threat Zeke Elliott fumbles there, you know,
towards the cold line.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
Yes, Tom, in an honest.
Speaker 4 (34:14):
Moment or a thought bubble with Dak Prescott, is he
breathing any kind of sigh of relief that Cooper rushed
and white up the Eagles and make him look terrible.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
I'm gonna say yes.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
I'm going to say yes because we've seen Cooper rush
when he plays well and then people go him out.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
Why don't you have why don't you keep him in
there instead of Dak? Well?
Speaker 3 (34:32):
Yeah, too late for that? Is he going to be
paying him a whole lot of money for a few
more years there.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
It's just not a good team, not not not at all.
Let's take a break. Play the day up.
Speaker 1 (34:44):
Next, be sure to catch the live edition of The
Dan Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio.
Speaker 10 (34:53):
Wap Oh my God.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
Play of the Day.
Speaker 8 (35:00):
Play this is the play of the day.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
Check this out.
Speaker 14 (35:05):
Beck fakes the handoff from the backside. Hey's hit, He's
dropped and the ball does it come out again? It
comes out again?
Speaker 8 (35:12):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Corredos riccons.
Speaker 14 (35:15):
The hit was Dive Princely who bond me Allen and
recovered by Perkins.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
The Rebels have stopped the dogs.
Speaker 3 (35:23):
That's courtesy of Learfield Sports and that is a must
win for Lane Kiffin.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
There.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
Georgie gave up five sacks, multiple giveaways, and uh ole
miss picks up a big win. You may not realize this,
but Georgia was thirty seven and two in the regular
season from two twenty one through twenty twenty three.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
They lost two regular season games. That's your play of
the day.
Speaker 3 (35:49):

Speaker 2 (36:06):
James in Virginia, Hi, James, welcome back.
Speaker 13 (36:10):
Oh they were taking my call brother. Happy Monday, DP
Dan that salute the commanders, man to take you back
on the stadiums. The team that uses the sun the best.
Have you ever been to Miami? Don't sit on the
visitor sideline because that sun counds on you all day
long and the home sidelines is nothing but shade. But
what a great weekend of football. Man, I think it's
(36:32):
time to stop asking how good the Chiefs are and
just understand how dangerous that team is. And what makes
them so dangerous is they're not afraid to be in
a street fight, a street fight and a brawl that
goes down to the last punch man. Because they got
one to five and big man Andy reid Man, so
they's excited to see what they can do. I think
(36:53):
they got a great chance to repeat. But man, what
a game in Washington. A game that Washington, if you
look at the stats, should not have been in. They
were out rushed, out gained more plays ran by Pittsburgh
time of possession. But yet, man, one thing I learned
about Washington this team is legit men only fifty percent
(37:16):
from the quarterback position, but had a ten point lead
in the second half. You got to learn how to
finish games like that. Only one fourth down they haven't
converted all year, and it was taken away by the rest.
But either lay Man, what a great game, big one
in Philly, most must win game of the week in Philly.
Speaker 2 (37:35):
Thank you James.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
So James team lost, just to let you know that's
the healthy attitude that James and Virginia has even in
a loss. He finds the silver lining. Just got a
tweet from a PT guy. Two thousand and one. At
and T Stadium has an east west alignment. For comparison,
Michigan Stadium, built in nineteen twenty seven, runs north south
(37:58):
like most stadiums. They knew where the sun was one
dred years ago. That's why I say they did it
deliberately to let the sun shine through. I think that
they wanted it to do that. Oh, you have to
want it to do that. But you have to be
aware of when you play, usually the late afternoon game
(38:20):
when the sun is setting and so is your season.
Buddha in San Francisco, Hi, Buddha, what up DP?
Speaker 9 (38:31):
Happy Monday boys?
Speaker 8 (38:32):
Keep your head up, Fritzy Dan made the big Man
in the sky always be able to watch the Cowboys play.
Let the Sun and the Moon shine Bright Baby. And
then also was it just me, guys? But when I
saw the Jaguar uniform yesterday?
Speaker 9 (38:50):
Am I the only one who thought the Jaguars equipment
department put out the wrong helmet? I'm not sure, but
the best of the weekend DP me and Marvin's Niners
yesterday made me nervous.
Speaker 8 (39:04):
It seemed like Baker Mayfew was like lathered up in
babil or something. I mean, in the fourth quarter, we
just couldn't bring him down. And then Jake making me moody,
missing three field goals and ultimately redeeming hisself with the
game winner super clutch. We escaped Tampa with the win.
Whoo and worst of the weekend than in true Pauly fashion,
(39:25):
I hesitate to bring this up, but the Bears going
down to the lowly Patriots? What I mean, what are
the Patriots thinking? By the way, their best interest is
not winning games? And I mean the hope in Chicago
is like just seemingly vanished right now with Kayleb Williams.
I feel bad for the Bears fans watching that was
just not good.
Speaker 2 (39:45):
Thank you, Buda. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (39:48):
At some point, like you're watching the Giants, You're like,
don't try to win any more because if you do
win more now, I don't think that coach and GM
are coming back. Don't think the quarterback is coming by.
I you know, this feels like we're going to rebuild.
(40:08):
But I'm watching the game, and you know, in Germany,
I'm like, Okay, just let the Panthers win this game.
Speaker 2 (40:14):
Yeah. See.
Speaker 5 (40:15):
So it's funny like as fans we watch and we're like, no,
what are you doing? Lose get a better draft pick.
The players are like, man, screw you, dude.
Speaker 2 (40:22):
I'm playing. I'm trying to keep a job. Yeah, I'm
trying to keep my paycheck. Man, o, I'm going to
keep playing well. The coach is trying to keep his
job too.
Speaker 5 (40:29):
Everybody involved is trying to keep their job, except for
the people watching on TV.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
More phone calls coming up, best and worst. We'll give
you hours coming up. Lewis Riddick of the mother Ship
will stop by as well. The Indiana head coach Kurt Signetti,
fifth ranked team in the country.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
Two more hours to go on this Monday,
