the Day has always brought you by a Pinini America,
the official trading cards of our program. Our good buddy
Chase Daniel, former NFL quarterback, will stop by. I'm sure
he's broken down some tape, certainly after last night's game.
I don't know if he's breaking down tape on the
Dallas Cowboys, because it doesn't look like the Dallas Cowboys
are doing that either, as they got handled thirty four
(00:46):
to ten. The Texans are now seven and four. The
Cowboys dropped to seven and three. Joe Mixon was a
big deal last night, and his head coach, Tamiko Ryans
had this to say about his performance.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
The run game stars with our offensive line asked them
to challenge them to play fast, play aggressive. Thought they
did a really nice job and Joe you know when
he's when he's on, he's a he's a force for us.
Over one hundred yards, three touchdowns. Just really like the
way we just kept turning it in a run game
and proud of the guys were stepping up to the challenge.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Yeah, the offensive line hasn't been good. It's been kind
of a shaky month for the Texans, but they're back
in contention. They're in a weak division, but still they
can be formidable. C. J. Stroud didn't play great last night,
but felt like the defense was good. Running game was
good as well, and the Dallas Cowboys continue their dissent
(01:40):
their free fall. Now three and seven on the year
eight seven seven three DP show email address, DP at
Danpatrick dot com Twitter handle. A DP show pull question
for the final hour of the program, Seaton, what are
you mulling over? Why don't we clean up hours one
and two?
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Here?
Speaker 5 (01:56):
Dan? Okay, we put in their career. I'd rather have
Justin Tucker, Tony Romo. Everyone's asking that today. Obviously, right now,
Justin Tucker has fifty two percent of that vote. Okay, man,
I know that I voted for Justin Tucker. To man
Tony Romo had a pretty good career.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Well, you're the quarterback of the Cowboys. You got to
factor that in, right, And he did go on vacation
with Jessica Simpson. Wow, I mean Carrie Underwood's situation in there.
Speaker 6 (02:30):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Oh okay, throwing that in. Yeah. I don't know if
Justin Tucker's married or if he dated somebody famous, but
you got to factor that in with Tony Romo. Could
have you wanted to? Yeah, you don't care?
Speaker 7 (02:45):
Yeah, yes, tod And I think Tony's bride isn't unattractive currently,
so I think he's doing.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Okay, you're not sure.
Speaker 8 (02:51):
I'm quite sure.
Speaker 7 (02:52):
I think there was a commercial for slippers or whatever
it was for Imber sketchers.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Yes, do you know who is? Why do you know
her name? I?
Speaker 7 (03:01):
No, she was like a broadcaster or a newscaster, But
I don't know her first name. I don't know a
lot of athletes wives first names.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Well, no, you just brought it up that she was hot.
Speaker 7 (03:10):
We were talking about all the you know, his resume,
so we should point out that the current individual he's
with is also a good looking woman.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Okay, isn't it. Crawford isn't there brother Chase Crosses Candas Crawford. Okay, yeah.
Is she an actress or was she a broadcaster? Huh?
Speaker 5 (03:32):
Well, I'm really more of like a model actress podcaster
like influencer personality.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
It's like a hybrid roller really.
Speaker 9 (03:42):
So she started to be a sports journalist. She actually
worked for the Cowboys way back.
Speaker 6 (03:46):
In the day.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Okay, I thought they frowned upon that where you're not
allowed to date anybody. Didn't they do that at ESPN
where you had to tell people that if you were
dating somebody at ESPN, like you had to make it public.
Speaker 9 (04:00):
Yes, if you had a relationship with someone else at ESPN,
you had to walk over to HR and disclose it.
And then they also would tell you during orientation they
discourage you dating other ESPN employees because of conflicts of
interests of work. However, when you move to the Bristol,
Connecticut area and you are a young single man, and
Seaton can back me up here, when you go out
to a local pub, there's nothing but girls from ESPN
(04:23):
at those pubs and guys from ESPN at those pubs
to socialize with.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
Well, that's why they discouraged me from dating Chris Berman, and.
Speaker 8 (04:31):
I just understandable.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
But you fought through that and did it anyway, because
when I told him, I said, Chris, he.
Speaker 10 (04:35):
Went, what e.
Speaker 5 (04:39):
It is funny though, when you meet people and like
you're going to see like, oh, hey, so and so
the PA and radio is bartending over at this bar.
So you go over there and you go with like
one of your buddies who's a producer radio, and then
he brought his friend. You're like, oh, hey, what's up Tim.
Oh he's in graphics. Oh cool, what's up dude? Everybody
It's exactly what Paul just laid out. Everybody works at
the Mother's and the people that you meet also work there,
(05:02):
and then the people that they bring that you meet,
they also work there.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Incestuous, I think, is probably the word. John Elway joins
us on the program Tomorrow and the Pirates speak of
relationships a scene.
Speaker 8 (05:19):
At eleven tomorrow Tomorrow, it's seven, not eleven.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
Yes, John Elway, You're always You're gonna get older, but
I'll always be seven. Yeah, I'm about yeah, Johnny Elway
and Paul schemes National League Rookie of the Year. Is
his girlfriend Livy Done gonna join us on the program
is well.
Speaker 7 (05:37):
Not that I'm aware, but a lot of surprises happen
on this show. All of a sudden, someone pops in
on the zoom and you never know what's gonna be
in the background.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
You just never know.
Speaker 8 (05:44):
That's what's exciting about it.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Uh So, big night in the NBA, the Cabs and
the Celtics. The Cabs are getting five trying to stay undefeated,
and uh Niners rock parties banged up. The Giants have
benched Daniel Jones Justin Tucker on the hot seat question
and Schemes wins National League Rookie of the Year, Louis
Gill wins the American League Rookie of the Year. All Right,
(06:09):
poll update, Seaton, did we already do this? We get
the new college football rankings coming out tonight, Texans back
in contention, Chase, Daniel's going to join us? Anything else
that I might have missed there? And did we go
with a final hour poll question?
Speaker 5 (06:24):
Well, we also had up there the best bad team
right now in the NFL right now Bengals running away
with that one sixty three percent of the vote. Second
place is the Buccaneers, followed by the Dolphins, Dolphin's only
getting twelve percent of the vote.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
It's not great. Larry and Michigan. Larry, thank you for holding.
What can I do for you?
Speaker 11 (06:42):
Dan?
Speaker 6 (06:43):
Yeah, this is actually for the front row. Marvin is
a savant with this questions. Oh my gosh, he's a savant.
His eclected knowledge is just freakish. And then this is
for paul Paul I got a new gabray there called
who to thunk It?
Speaker 12 (07:01):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (07:01):
Like Indiana football Indiana number five minnation at this time
of the year.
Speaker 13 (07:06):
Who to thunk It?
Speaker 6 (07:08):
The Steelers eight and two fields?
Speaker 1 (07:11):
You know what?
Speaker 13 (07:11):
What troubles?
Speaker 2 (07:12):
Oh?
Speaker 13 (07:12):
No, what do we eaten?
Speaker 6 (07:13):
Two? Who to thunk it? Colorado on a straight path
for the college football playoffs? Who to thunk It?
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Paulie? What do you think of? Who would have thunk it?
Speaker 6 (07:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (07:24):
Who to have thunk It? Uh, that's a little too
simplistic and easy to pull off. We need something that's
both confusing to both us and the listener. And that's
more My games are more like that. I'm like done,
done in or out. Yeah, those kind of things. Yeah,
it's gonna be more messy. That was way too clean
and palatable. Luke and Charlotte. Hi, Luke, what's on your
(07:45):
mind today?
Speaker 10 (07:47):
Hey?
Speaker 6 (07:47):
Dan?
Speaker 2 (07:48):
To call up in a tone for It's kind of
hard to atone for whatever you're atone for when your
phone now you have to atone for two things, Luke.
If you call this back, Matt in North Carolina Him, Matt,
(08:11):
what's on your mind?
Speaker 7 (08:13):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (08:13):
Yes, sir, Dan takes to taking my phone call. I'm
a Baltimore Ravens fan. Just a quick story.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
I was at work last night and I'll walk up
to the register and he's a gentleman with a pen
shirt and Steelers hat on, and you know, just being
friendly like I am. I said Steelers fan. Huh And
he said yep. And I said I'm a Ravens fan.
And immediately the man turned red in the face and
started shouting, we own you, probably about several times, and
(08:39):
meet me a non confrontational like I am, took the
high road and said, yep, you got us so fast forward.
I get home that night and with my wife and
my daughter, and in my head I just thought instant
remorse that I didn't get at this guy. I mean
I thought about it. Twelve penalty, one interception, two fumbles
to miss field golds. No way, in shape or form
(09:01):
did they own us? And my question is do you guys,
should I have confronted this guy or was taken the
high road? The right thing?
Speaker 2 (09:09):
You got to take the high road. I don't want
to see a video of you, Matt, getting into a
fight with some guy over the Steelers and the Ravens.
You know, you can say, hey, you own us during
the regular season. Can't argue with that. I look forward
to seeing you in the postseason. Yes, Tod, he.
Speaker 8 (09:27):
Definitely don't get in a fight. You could have said
something like a good thing.
Speaker 7 (09:30):
You got that sixth field goal and I don't think
you guys made it into the end zone.
Speaker 8 (09:33):
Then you get into a whole thing. There's a comment
to be made, but I agree with you. You don't
know what cycle you're dealing with. He's got some weapon.
He's going to start wailing on you. Who needs that
just over a sporting events ridiculous?
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Thank you, Todd. Frank in Connecticut, Hey Frank, what's on
your mind today?
Speaker 13 (09:49):
Hey guys? How are you.
Speaker 10 (09:52):
Great?
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Frank Paulie.
Speaker 13 (09:54):
I was so sympathetic to you getting eye surgery a
couple of days ago that I decided to get it
done today. So I was in the Milford Eye Surgery
Center this morning getting my first cataract surgery. And now
what I need is a nice plaid eyepatch that you
(10:17):
can give to Marvin and he can give it to
me at the stop and shop parking lot where we
meet every day.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Very specific quest, Paulie, are you willing to donate that
eyepatch to Frank so Marvin could hand it off at
their rendezvous place.
Speaker 9 (10:38):
I think I need to keep this for future situations,
but you know, I love it. Did he get cataract
surgery elective? Because it's the show empathy for me? Because
that would be right nice?
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Did you really did you need cataract surgery sympathy?
Speaker 6 (10:50):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (10:51):
I did it in sympathy. Well, thank you, Frank, thank
you for sharing there. But I don't know Paulie's willing
to give that up. That's your favorite plaid eye patch.
Speaker 9 (11:01):
Maybe we start a line of these and sell them
because they are People ask about this I patch.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
Yeah, they are prepared to be rich, Dan prepared to
be rich. One person asked about it your I serge.
Speaker 8 (11:13):
Stopping shop parking lot. That was interesting.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
Yeah, I don't know, Marvin, what's going on at the
stopping shop parking on.
Speaker 14 (11:19):
So I remember meeting this guy Frank and so I
see him randomly because we live in the same area.
And so the first time he was like, hey, Marvin,
And when somebody says your name, you're thinking hey, but
I'm gonna recognize him. So I'm like, hey you He's oh, no, no,
you don't know me. You know, I'm just a fan
of the show and stuff like that. So I've seen
him a few times at the local stopping shop.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Okay, that was it, not in the story. Okay, hey,
uh in New Jersey, they used to do that at
the rest stopping whoa, whoa, Yeah, at the John bon
Jovi rest. Yeah, the cheese Quake rest up.
Speaker 8 (12:02):
None of our business, None of our business.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
That's okay.
Speaker 14 (12:04):
Hey, I was at the James Gandolf Phoenix Stop rest area.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
I'll meet you at the Helen Mirren all right, she
wasn't really from New Jersey. Vincelimbardi. Then you have his
own restant.
Speaker 9 (12:20):
Yes, that's gotta be an honor, though. You get your
own in New Jersey. That's the highest of honors. Like
other people get parks named after them or a Boulevard.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Bro I don't think I would want to rest stop.
Speaker 9 (12:33):
So if you go into these rest stops like the
Vince Lombardi James Gandelfini, they have like a display where
you could learn about the person, like it's it's not
just a name slept on there. So if you're going
to you know, soborrow to get a slice, you can
learn about James Gandelfini, been.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
James Gandolf Phoenie would go, yes, I finally got it, Yes, posthumously,
I got me a rest stop. Yes, Barta.
Speaker 14 (12:57):
So if you're a Laker, you want to have a statue,
But if you're somebody from New Jersey you want to
have a restop named after Yeah, right.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
I wouldn't be opposed to it. If all of a
sudden they renamed mine. The one that I grew up
by was the John bon Jovi. Uh yeah, rest ups.
That's the I grew up in the same town as.
If they renamed that the seat and no kind of
rest up, I would be very honest.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
Wow, that would be something just throwing it out there
in New Jersey.
Speaker 5 (13:21):
If you guys will finally want to recognize my existence,
that'd be awesome. Don't wry about a seat in hall.
It's only been twenty years I've been on the air.
You can't throw me a T shirt or something whatever.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Or an honorary degree from Seaton Hall. It's something to
be like.
Speaker 5 (13:33):
Wo, did you know there's a guy named Seaton that's
been on TV for the last twenty years?
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Nothing zero. He couldn't get into seat in the hall. Yeah,
but he still loves Seaton Hall. He was named after
Seaton Hall. Yeah, should get something. I mean it's just
something that like, how about like a tweet? Something? Wait,
the Seat and Halls sports information department hasn't liked one
(13:58):
of your tweets yet. I don't know what I'm going
on there.
Speaker 8 (14:01):
Wait have they said seen anything like a T shirt?
Speaker 2 (14:05):
I don't get the Yukon Marvin treatment at all.
Speaker 14 (14:08):
I've been on the show eight minutes and I would
have had an article in Yukon magazine and then early
and all the coaches know me.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
But but Seton didn't go to Seaton Hall. He went
to West Virginia. I would have gotten a seat in hall.
That didn't let me in. Yeah, I tried.
Speaker 5 (14:25):
I wanted to. They said no, they said no. Actually,
you know what I should have known then I should
have just dumped them. Then I would have saved myself
a whole lifetime of artache.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
But you would think if you put that on your
resume when you're when your application and you're named after
the school, not interested, they're like getting line kid.
Speaker 13 (14:49):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (14:50):
Yes, I think I have a solution to this easy fixed.
You're more of a mountaineer seat and you went there.
They've invited you back. I think they've embraced you a
little bit, definitely more than set Hall. Changed your middle
name to mountaineer Patrick, mountaineer O'Connor. That's has some strength
to it. But I could do that. I could do
that mountaineer O'Connor. I would not find a guy named
If I heard a guy's name is mountin Neire O'Connor,
(15:10):
I'd walk the other way.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Did you see where pat Riley's getting a statue in
Los Angeles?
Speaker 14 (15:17):
It's not a rest stop, but it'll.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
No, they're gonna give Ryls a statue there. If you
said to pat Riley, would you rather have a rest
stomp or statue at all?
Speaker 13 (15:28):
Game?
Speaker 2 (15:28):
Now? Does he say, whatever you do, don't make me
look like Dwayne Wade. Like whoever is doing the bust
or whoever's doing my statue, let's not do it like
Dwayne Wade. Yes, yes, I think he.
Speaker 8 (15:42):
Has to make that very clear. I'm honored.
Speaker 7 (15:45):
But just one request, whoever did that to Dwayne Wade,
please find someone else to make my statue at the minimum,
you can ask that.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
Yeah, but the fact that Dwayne Wade was there when
they're carving, they're they're making the statue, like, did at
any point his wife, Gabrielle Union say hey, Dwayne, hey, honey,
that doesn't look like you, or did Dwayne go oh wow, okay,
well that's how you see me.
Speaker 9 (16:12):
Yes, Paul I did look into this a little bit,
and when they're making the statue they go like big
to small. Is there any chance going forward for statue
makers they could make the face plate first, because his
elbows look like his elbows, you're not gonna screw those up.
But if you made the face plate first and then
filled in the rest of the statue, you could redo
it like a face plate or the facial part of it.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
Well, I don't know if anybody really knows what Dwyane
Wade's elbows look like, but then that's what I'm saying,
you're aware of his face exactly.
Speaker 9 (16:40):
That's what I'm saying, is that, like you could only
screw up the face.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Yes, Seaton, I get this sense.
Speaker 5 (16:45):
Gabrielle Union probably thought it was as funny as the
rest of us. Yeah, Like if I if I had
a statue and it was like it looked horrible, my
wife would think that was hilarious.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
She would think that's so funny. Do you think Rinaldo's
wife thought it was funny that they somehow made one
of the prettiest guys in the world look less than
pretty Todd? Yes, No, I don't think so.
Speaker 7 (17:09):
I think in the moment you have to act happy
and grateful though, and then if your wife is saying
to you that doesn't.
Speaker 8 (17:13):
We'll talk about it later. Smile honoring me with a statue.
We'll worry about fixing the face at a later date.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
Well, we never have to worry about it. That's the
good thing. We never have to worry about any of that.
Maybe unless it's if it's group. If it's a group,
then I'm all for that. A group statue with all
of them.
Speaker 9 (17:36):
We should find some small town and I commission you
like that, doesn't have any tourism and say like, we'll
put a Rando statue of us.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Hey when we go to Iowa. Maybe we just PLoP
it down in Dubuque and just say here you go,
you're welcome bringing our own statue. Yes, Byos, you get
the big german to hook up. You know, we have
Taylor and then we'll just take a cross country big
unveiling there and we just PLoP it there.
Speaker 7 (18:05):
Yes, Tom, we do some kind of Mount dan Moore.
I know this five of us as opposed to the
four with the presidents, but a Mount dan Moore up
in the Connecticut.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Hill somewhere we might have to have an elimination there. Ooh,
there might be a relegation on the Mount dan Moore.
Let's take a break here, Chase Daniel or good buddy.
We're gonna find out what are the Cowboys playing for?
And is he back on the Texans bandwagon? A lot
(18:34):
of things to talk to him about. We'll do so
next here Dan Patrick Show.

John Elway tomorrow. Also, the Nation League Rookie of the
Year Paul's Schemes, will join us on the program. John
and Tampa joins this Good morning, John. What's on your
mind today?
Speaker 6 (19:00):
Danga Marta?
Speaker 10 (19:00):
How are you great?
Speaker 2 (19:02):
John?
Speaker 6 (19:04):
Dan?
Speaker 2 (19:05):
John? John?
Speaker 10 (19:07):
I need your extra advice?
Speaker 2 (19:09):
Okay, So I'll give you.
Speaker 10 (19:11):
I'll give you the background.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Six weeks ago.
Speaker 15 (19:13):
My daughter's boyfriend asked her, asked me my permission.
Speaker 10 (19:18):
And blessing to marry my daughter.
Speaker 15 (19:19):
They're twenty six years they've been together since they was sixteen.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
John, Are you in a convertible or is the window down?
Hold on? Let me falling it. Maybe that'll help?
Speaker 13 (19:33):
Like there.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
There, you got any better? Yeah, it's better?
Speaker 3 (19:38):
All right?
Speaker 2 (19:38):
So how well a little bit better? How can I
help you? John?
Speaker 4 (19:42):
See?
Speaker 2 (19:43):
So this past weekend you went up to Boston. He
surprised her with a proposal.
Speaker 15 (19:50):
In town.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
They came back to a pub right outside of town
and when she walked in, she started crying.
Speaker 10 (19:56):
And then that was the end of it for me.
I don't know how I'm going to get through this,
how I'm people are asking.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Me about the father, the daughter dance, the toes.
Speaker 4 (20:04):
I was so emotional.
Speaker 15 (20:06):
I don't know how I'm going to make it.
Speaker 10 (20:07):
Through the wedding.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
Well, you got a little bit of time, John, and
I would I talk to your daughter, just say hey,
I don't want to embarrass anybody or I don't want
to overshadow anything, but it'll be hard for me to
get through it. When you have your toast. Make sure
it's brief, but it's touching and it has to do
(20:29):
with her and that you love her now husband, but
walking down the aisle, all of that stuff, I haven't
done it yet. I got three daughters and I'm not
looking forward to it. But it's not about me, it's
not about you, it's about her and trying to make
that day. I think you got to convince yourself that
(20:50):
this is an unbelievable day and you should be in
a great mood. It shouldn't be sorrow, shouldn't be sad,
it should be you see her smile, You smile, and
don't we don't cry. Now he's your said the done,
because I'm gonna do both. But what I'm saying is
you got to convince yourself. You almost have to trick
(21:11):
yourself and just say this is awesome. When I look
at her and I see her smile. I'm gonna smile.
Chase Daniel athletics Scoop City podcast. He co hosts that
and also the Chase Daniel Show on YouTube, which is
how we first stumbled upon Chase. He was breaking down
game footage and just loved his football acumen and now
(21:33):
a co host of the Facility on Fox Sports One.
He joines us on the program, Are you back on
the Texans bandwagon? Chase?
Speaker 12 (21:43):
I mean, I don't know if I ever left, you
know what I mean. So they had Nico Collins back
last night, and I was doing some digging and it's
pretty easy to see that when the Texans have Nico
Collins back, they're five and one. Without Nico Collins, they're
two and three. So he's the secret sauce. But I
still don't think that our guy CJ's playing very well.
(22:03):
He's not seeing it as well. And I think the
biggest thing is he's having to let go of the
ball a lot sooner because his offensive line sucks, if
you just want to say that, because it is. They're
like thirtieth in pressure rates. So the defense is legit
though two touchdowns last night, but it's just they're a
weird team to get behind, although I've never really left.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
I'm wondering about this and you being a former quarterback,
how long does it take the league to get a
book on you?
Speaker 6 (22:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 12 (22:31):
Well, look, there's only so many things a defense can do.
They can play cover two, they can blitz, they can
play man, So defenses have way less of a playbook,
if that makes sense to me. I think what they're
doing on defense now to sort of counteract is they're
making him stay in the pocket. Like last year, what
I saw from him is like when stuff broke down,
(22:51):
he was able to escape and he was able to
make these plays down the field because the receivers were rolling. Now,
I think what they're doing a good job upon defense
is they're you can call it a muss rush. Okay,
so a must rush means you're rushing the passer, but
you're really not rushing the passer and you just want
to stay in your pass rush lanes. Not a lot
of people talk about it, but that frustrates a quarterback
(23:11):
because you're taking away your first and second reading.
Speaker 10 (23:14):
You're not able to get out and extend the play.
Speaker 12 (23:15):
That's what CJ was so good at last year, and
he's turning the ball over more so, I think it's
a little bit of both. I think CJ has to
just I mean, it obviously helped last night you have
Nico Collins, but you just got to go back to
sort of the basics on what you're doing and just like, hey,
you got to somehow find a way to get out
of the pocket and make those plays down the field
because I thought last year that's what made them special.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
How did the Cowboys salvage this season?
Speaker 12 (23:41):
They get there's no way, how like, like, where in
the world are you going to salvage this season?
Speaker 10 (23:47):
Like your starter's Oh, do.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
You give Trey Lance a chance? Like you have to
start looking at the future. Mike McCarthy's not going to
be there. Do you trade Mica Parson? Like, I don't know,
are you trying to f you're out exactly? I mean,
what is their identity now?
Speaker 10 (24:03):
They don't have it?
Speaker 12 (24:04):
And that's the problem, like right, because that's what Jerry
Jones said, Hey, we're all in in the offseason.
Speaker 10 (24:08):
You know what they did. They signed a long snapper.
They didn't go out, they didn't get Derek and they
didn't get a run game. They didn't do any of
this stuff.
Speaker 12 (24:14):
So in free agency from the start, and then you
don't give your head coach, your lame duck head coach,
Mike McCarthy a new contract, So why even bring him
back that? Like I go back to that, Like, you're
a lame duck coach. The only way you're keeping your
job is if you win the Super Bowl. And this
roster is way worse than it was last year. For me,
I was on the Trey Lance bandwagon. Like you trade
a fourth round pick for Trey Lance and now is
(24:34):
your backup. He was your third string quarterback. Like we
know what Cooper Rush can do, we don't know what
Tree Lance can do. Like he played pretty bad in
the preseason, just wasn't in timing and rhythm. But you
put him out there with Ceedee Lamb. Now, I mean
stuff might change, but it's still at the end of
the day, a quarterbacks best friends of run game.
Speaker 10 (24:53):
Dak didn't have it. That's why he's turned the football over.
Cooper Rush doesn't have it.
Speaker 12 (24:57):
They're having to throw the ball fifty yards and you know,
season's going crazy and hey wire when stuff's falling from
the ceiling and Brandon Aubrey's missing kicks like That's how
I knew this season is over for them.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
Chase Daniel the Athletics Scoop City podcast, also the Chase
Daniel Show on YouTube and co hosting The Facility on
Fox Sports One. Josh Allen's MVP to loose.
Speaker 10 (25:20):
Oh yeah, I think so.
Speaker 12 (25:22):
And people, you know, I said this on the air
the other day, and I got so much blowback, man,
because like Lamar Jackson, like he's having Like I agree,
like Lamar's Jackson's.
Speaker 10 (25:31):
Having an insane season.
Speaker 12 (25:33):
But you look at the offense around him and the
offensive line they went out and he secured and the
receivers and he's got an offense around Josh Allen. He's
nine to two. The Bills are nine to two for
the first time since nineteen ninety two. And quite honestly,
he's doing it with nobody.
Speaker 10 (25:49):
And that doesn't mean any ill will on their skill players.
Speaker 12 (25:52):
I think James Cook's great Dogkin Cave miss last game,
kem On Coleman miss last game. Amari Cooper's played one
or two games since he got treated.
Speaker 10 (25:59):
He's been hurt. So what Josh has been able to
do right now, he's.
Speaker 12 (26:04):
The most valuable player and people people sometimes forget it's
the most valuable player.
Speaker 10 (26:09):
It's not the best player.
Speaker 12 (26:10):
Like I would say the best player right now even
with a bad game, is Lamar Jackson. But what Josh
is doing and Joe Brady's doing is special. So I
mean when you beat the Chiefs too, like, just just
sign me up for that Josh Allen experience.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
If not the Lions in the NFC, then who No.
Speaker 10 (26:28):
It's the Lions. It's the Lions.
Speaker 12 (26:31):
Like for me, I like what the Eagles are doing. However,
I still feel strongly that Jalen Hurts is not playing
his best football and the Eagles are doing what they're
doing offensively because of Saquon Barkley and that offensive line.
Like if you take Saquon Barkley off the Eagles, I
don't know if.
Speaker 10 (26:51):
They are where they're at right now.
Speaker 12 (26:54):
But when you watch the Lions play, it's they're on
a different level. Like Ben Johnson, Jared Goff. You could
Jared Goff in the top five of the MVP race
even with a five interception game. You throw five interceptions
at a contender in the Houston Texans and you somehow
find a way to win, like it's never been done
since Night It's like the last time it's been done
is like nineteen seventy. You come back from fifteen, you
(27:15):
throw five interceptions.
Speaker 10 (27:16):
So if I had to pick, and I'm just I'm
out all in on the Eagles. I think they're a
good team.
Speaker 12 (27:22):
I think defensively, Vic Fange's not getting enough credit for
what he's doing, especially since.
Speaker 10 (27:26):
The bye week. But I mean reluctantly, I'll say the
Eagles just to appease you.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
I never thought we would read a headline or even
consider the Ravens making a change at kicker with Justin
Tucker like he was the sure thing. If if Marianna
there was a Marianna Rivera of football players or kickers,
Justin Tucker would be one of those names. What happens
to a kicker like this when all of a sudden
(27:55):
he's not who we thought he was.
Speaker 12 (27:57):
Yeah, I mean, look, Justin Tecker is going to go
down as one of the greatest, if not the greatest
kickers of all time. I heard Eddie Panero just pass
them for the most accurate kicker in NFL history, right,
And it's sort of tough to see, like someone like
Mario and Rivera that you just know is gonna get
done and struggle. He's already missed as many kicks as
he did last year. And it's not even long kicks.
It's these short kicks. It's almost like you have the
(28:19):
yips in baseball, and it just seems when he's kicking
the football, he's not kicking it the way we're all
used to.
Speaker 10 (28:28):
So for like fans just in general, it's tough.
Speaker 12 (28:31):
There's really nothing you can do because, like when you're
at practice with the kickers, like you see him working
on the side in the offensive defensive going, there's always
working out side and they'll come and have one special
teams period and kick.
Speaker 10 (28:41):
It's almost like more mental.
Speaker 12 (28:43):
I mean it is more mental because physically he can
still do it, right.
Speaker 10 (28:47):
I think you got to make some long kicks. You
got to make a game winning kick or something like
that to get it back.
Speaker 12 (28:51):
But what used to be an automatic three is just
not anymore and the Ravens have lost some games because
of it.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
Yeah, trying to understand the calaboy situation. Can you put
yourself in his position right now of why is he
struggling where bo Nix is lighting it up. Drake May
shows more promise and certainly Jayden Daniels.
Speaker 12 (29:14):
Yeah, I mean you hit it right like Caleb Williams,
in my opinion, is a fourth quarterback right now in
terms of play, in terms of development.
Speaker 10 (29:21):
And I don't want to put too much on coaching.
Speaker 12 (29:22):
But I do agree that like the first four or
five games of the year, Shane Waldron, he was calling
a very.
Speaker 10 (29:29):
Pro style offense, almost like he did with Justin Fields.
Speaker 12 (29:33):
Or like what Luke Gets he did with Justin Fields
is like almost the same offense where you're under center,
your play action, you're trying to do too much at
the line of scrims.
Speaker 10 (29:40):
I think you put too much on the rookie. And
when you do that and you don't have.
Speaker 12 (29:44):
Success, mentally your mind goes to like can I handle this?
Can I handle this league? And he's confident on the
outside right, but you could tell mentally he wasn't seen
at the last few games. But I do like what
Thomas Brown did. He got back running the football. I
think they ran it thirty times in the first half.
So while Bears friends are frustrated, because really the whole
(30:08):
franchise of all the quarterbacks they've had, has been frustrated.
Speaker 10 (30:12):
They've never had a four thousand yard passer. They've had
thirty five.
Speaker 12 (30:15):
I get that, but when you go to last game,
I am encouraged by what I saw, mainly because he
just took the easy completions. He got the football out
of his hands, he didn't take bad sacks, he didn't.
Speaker 10 (30:26):
Really turn over.
Speaker 12 (30:27):
And then when you look at the two games they've lost,
right the Washington Hell Mary game and then this pass
game where they get a block kick when Caleb.
Speaker 10 (30:35):
Needed plays the most.
Speaker 12 (30:36):
In two minute he made those plays like the last
two drives against the Commanders. He won that game for
them if they just knocked down the Hell Mary. And
then this pass game in two minutes, he made an
amazing third nineteen throw, got out of the pocket, he
made a crazy fourth and three back shoulder throw to
Roma Dunza, and then he checked to the game winning
what should have been the game winning catch to Keenan
Allen in the slot.
Speaker 10 (30:56):
So he's making progress, and I think this is.
Speaker 12 (30:59):
Sort of where they should have started, and you got
to slowly build his confidence back up.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
Good to talk to you, Happy for your success, and
thanks for joining us.
Speaker 12 (31:09):
Hey, I got a question, what's the deal with happy
Gilmore too? Man, are you Are you in it? And
when's it coming out? Like where's this whole thing going.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
I'm shooting December fifth, my scene, and I think it's
probably gonna be fourth or July, like summer blockbuster, but
they're keeping it. I only got portions of the script.
I only got my part of the script. I don't
have the whole script. And Sandler said there's a plot twist,
(31:38):
and he didn't want me. He said, you can't, Danny,
you can't keep a secret. I go, all right, So
they only gave me my lines, and I think I'm
shooting December fifth.
Speaker 10 (31:48):
I'm a huge happy Gilmore fan, man, and it was
cool to.
Speaker 12 (31:51):
See, like watching you watching watch it going on in
that whole movie, and now you.
Speaker 10 (31:55):
Get to be on your show. So I appreciate it, man.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
Thank you, buddy. All Right, Yeah, that's Chase Daniel, the
Athletics Scoop City podcast Diana Rassini. They co host that
The Chase Daniel Show on YouTube and The Facility on
FOXX Sports one. All right, well, take a break, last
call for phone calls. What we learn, what's in store tomorrow,
this day in sports history, all of that forthcoming after this.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
I believe there's a led Zeppelin documentary coming out in
February that a lot of the footage. They have a
lot of things that even the band not aware of.
You still have Jimmy Page, you have John Paul Jones,
and you have Robert Plant. John Bonham no longer with us,
But I do believe there's a documentary coming out in February.
Speaker 9 (32:50):
Yes, Paul, when you said things the band's not even
aware of, I was thinking, like the seventies, you're like
bands who party so hard they forget a chunk of
their career.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
We did that. Yeah, Wait, well I think we might
have been in a position where somebody had to remind
you what you did the night before. Imagine if you
had like a decade where you don't remember what happened.
There have to be bands musicians where like, I don't know,
it's a Blur Motley Crue, I don't know, Yeah, it's nicky.
(33:21):
I'm not here because I'm dead, John Elway, Paul schemes
coming up tomorrow. Were you gonna play Livvy Dunn or
Livy Dun. Done.
Speaker 5 (33:34):
Yeah, Paul Skans were gonna do Livy Dune or Livy Dundune.
We have to do that new game show.
Speaker 2 (33:40):
Now, something might get lost in translation. I don't, I don't,
I don't wait on that. I'm living done. Yeah, Livy
done done. How about we write the headline today what
it could be tomorrow Celtic's Cavaliers. PAULI set the example
for the room of how it's done writing the headline
(34:01):
today for tomorrow.
Speaker 9 (34:04):
Spider Man handles the Celtics down of Mitchell drops forty oh,
spier Man handles spider Mite.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
What about you, Marvin? You got something for me?
Speaker 14 (34:18):
Tatum O'Neil, No, no, no, no, no no no, I
need it like three minutes.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
Okay, Todd, you got one.
Speaker 8 (34:29):
I'm going with Donovan celt show cats. Who's Boston?
Speaker 2 (34:33):
Oh? Okay, all right? Seating uh going with Olympic mold.
Speaker 5 (34:44):
These Celtics need to get the dust offs, shake the
cobwebs off.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
Yeah, it just kind of rolls.
Speaker 5 (34:52):
The Olympic mold just sitting around not being active, and
now now Tatum is getting moldy.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
All right, Marvin, you got your two minutes. You got
something for me that wasn't too minutes twenty It doesn't matter,
It doesn't flailing jailen flailing, feeling all right. So my
Cavaliers undefeated, and Todd says they're fifteen and oh. If
they win tonight will be sixteen.
Speaker 8 (35:21):
There fifteen minutes of fame with their fifteen and oh
record done to know?
Speaker 2 (35:24):
Wow? Uh the Orlando Magic, my magic. They have held
six consecutive opponents under one hundred points. Last time that
happened was twenty eighteen. Spurs. The Knicks, Knicks look good.
They shot fifty six percent from the floor, fifty percent
from three point range, ninety two percent from the free
(35:44):
throw line. How about that? A fifty to fifty to
ninety game out of a team. I think that's about
the Joel Embiid, Like the sixer season feels over, doesn't it.
Joel Embiid, Paul George hadn't played well this Jared McCain
had twenty points, so I don't there's not much to
(36:07):
see with them, Yeah, poem.
Speaker 9 (36:08):
Yeah, I was just looking at stats. If we're doing
that DraftKings thing earlier, LaMelo balls at twenty nine point
seven seven assists and five rebounds. The dude's twenty three.
I can't bring myself to watch a lot of Charlotte basketball.
Speaker 6 (36:21):
Man.
Speaker 9 (36:21):
He's hitting his stride.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
He's good, Yeah, he is. He's entertaining. I think he
just cost himself one hundred thousand dollars by saying some
kind of slur. I don't know if that was postgame
or not, but or during the game. But well, I
think it cost you. Yeah, it was after the game.
It was during the game, like postgame, postgame interview, Oh,
postgame all right? Cost him a hundred, one hundred thousand
(36:45):
dollars This day in sports history, Paul, what do you
have for me today? Segue?
Speaker 9 (36:51):
Nolan Ryan nineteen seventy nine signed a four year contract
for four point five million dollars total. That's the highest
contract in Major League Baseball history at the time.
Speaker 2 (37:00):
One point two a year, okay. Dwight Good in nineteen
eighty four.
Speaker 9 (37:04):
At twenty years old, became the youngest pitcher ever doing
Rookie of the Year in the National League. Albert Bell
signed a contract to White Sox in ninety six. He
was making ten plus million a year, first player ever
to do that. Barry Bond's first player in two thousand
and one to win four Most Valuable Player awards, And
of course, two thousand and four, during a Pistons Pacers game,
a fight broke out involving fans and players. Several players
(37:27):
were suspended, all involved for late that charge with assault
and battery.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
You know, we were in Columbus, Yeah, Andy, in Providence. Hi, Andy,
what's on your mind today?
Speaker 15 (37:39):
Hey, good morning guys.
Speaker 4 (37:40):
Thanks for calling me back.
Speaker 13 (37:41):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 15 (37:41):
I know Chris has had a hard time booking me,
but here I am, guys, I do. I love you
guys as always. I did want to, you know, kind
of just bring up how the reasons they didn't take
the opportunity to try to go for onside kick when
they had.
Speaker 4 (37:57):
Two timeouts left, and you know all they had to
do is.
Speaker 15 (38:00):
Really just try to stop the first down and maybe
you know, things could have you know, worked in a favor,
but maybe justin Tuggan not making field goals, they probably
couldn'tven trust the guy to make outside kicks. So you know,
I decided that to bring.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
Up all right, Well, thank you Andy, Glad that we
were able to call you back. Luke and Charlotte is back.
Speaker 11 (38:22):
Well, now I have to tone for letting my bluetooth disconnect,
but also for my poorly timed Steelers take on Friday
that I got yelled at for appropriately. They scored zero
touchdowns the game after, but we didn't even need any
touchdowns to be the to beat the Crows, and we
have the best kicker in the league. Now, who hears
(38:42):
the start of the day would be the highest scoring
tight end in most FAMOUSY leagues.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
Rock Bowers.
Speaker 11 (38:52):
No, it would be Chris Boswell that I was saying
he would be the highest scoring tight end.
Speaker 2 (39:01):
Luke, you may have to atone for that as well.
One of these is gonna hit. Though, one of these
is gonna hit, Just keep at it. I think Luke's
over three unatonement okay brought us to a screeching home.
Seaton found results of the poll question, Oh brother, who
is the best bad team? Dan? Right now?
Speaker 5 (39:24):
The Bengals running away with that one. Also, the closer
race career you'd rather have classic Justin Tucker Tony Romo
right now Justin Tucker at fifty one percent of the vote.
That's ticking ever so closely.
Speaker 2 (39:38):
I love that that was that became a topic today
only as we can bring up a topic. By the way,
Michael Wilbond Wilbin turned sixty six today, So Mike, happy birthday.
I'm sure Tony will get you a real, real night
nice gift. Let's go around the room. What we learned
on the program? Todd, what'd you learn today?
Speaker 7 (39:56):
The Cowboys are hilarious, unfixable, irrelevant, off and just playing dallass.
Speaker 2 (40:02):
Okay, here's what it is, Seaton O'Connor.
Speaker 5 (40:08):
I feel like we nailed it today with our one
word descriptions. It's kind of like sports madlibs class.
Speaker 2 (40:14):
Yeah, but we in the blank. Yeah, Marvin, would you
learn today?
Speaker 14 (40:19):
Hunter Dickinson Big ten Freshman of the Year and Big
twelve Newcomer of the Year.
Speaker 2 (40:24):
Love it. Paulie, would you learn.
Speaker 9 (40:26):
I just learned that brock Bauers is leading the league
in targets and receptions per game.
Speaker 2 (40:30):
