Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, and welcome to Waken Jake. It's back. It's Tier
List season, so you know, King Jolly Olive is back
joining us as we preview this offseason a little differently
by making a tier list of kind of the most
important off seasons for these teams off clysons. I'm not

(00:23):
sure the plural, but kind of rank them out as
who's this the biggest offseason for? There's some teams that
can kind of roll the ball out there next year
and they got the same thing going on. There's a
couple teams that this offseason dictates their next three, four, five,
So I'm interested to see how it sorts out. With
our guy, Jolly, how are you?

Speaker 2 (00:42):
I'm good man, this is a great idea about you.
I credit you fully. I mean it's gonna be a
good way for us. I think brush up on all
thirty teams, like where are we at? Who we losing?
What are we doing? I like where we landed with
our tears. I'm excited for this app I am, I'll
admit it.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
So, so if you're new to our Tier List episodes, welcome,
and we play by our own rules here. We start
out with certain categories. We are willing to add and
change at any moment. We'll keep some updates on the
screen for you as we go. The current tiers we
have for most important offseason is most important offseason. That's

(01:22):
the number one. I think it's either got to be
one or two teams, and I don't think they can
be the same league. Yes, we did some light brainstorming.
We haven't over committed, but interested to see what that
looks like.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
We don't want to crowded up there. That's a big thing.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
No. Normally we allow a little bit of BS, but
I think for the sacred word of most we have
to keep that pretty dialed. The second tier we have
impact move needed. When we talk about your off season,
when we do the team profile and projections, we say,
well they did sign leep. We'll fill that in in post.

(01:59):
The next category we put plug in holes. Jolly's old nickname.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
At Rutgers illegal.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
You know you've got you have needs, you can do it.
I think you said like fourth or fifth starter, maybe
we need one, you know, Mark Cannon that eighth hole.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
I need Ann and guy, give me Paul c Walkon.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
Yeah, give me a setup man, give me a fourth
starter and let's roll the ball out there uh, the
fourth categories labor, hold, question mark. These teams I don't know.
We kind of haven't thought about it, but there's teams
that I guess there's teams every off season that have
a certain amount of youth and a certain amount of
budget that it's like, well if they if they do

(02:44):
or don't, it kind of is what it is.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
I have a crazy one for hold, but no spoilers.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Okay to it.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
We'll get to it.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
The next tier, which I'm interested to see because maybe
we do need to slide this up, is pick a direction.
I think it's kind of important. I don't okay, I'm
interested to see.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
If you're a team and you don't know where you're
going right no one's respecting you right now.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
I guess that's the thing. Some of these teams in
pick a direction, their offseason is more important than holding,
you know what I'm saying, because the teams that are holding,
they know their direction. Well, maybe we might bring up
a direction. Let's early swap. Let's do that for now,
and then a classic Waken Jake tearless bottom. Nothing matters.

(03:28):
We'll talk about you in a little bit Rockies. So
we'll start there. If we feel like we need to
add a tier because someone just don't fit. We'll do that.
Oh looks like a Rockies. Everyone watching on YouTube subscribe.
I appreciate it, and make sure you guys comment whatever
you think we screwed up. Uh where do you think

(03:49):
is easiest to start? Jolly? I mean besides the Rockies
who made the graphic early, But the YouTube algorithm says,
don't start with.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
We could start with the guard pick up down there,
but we don't have to.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
You know what, y'all, I think there is a team
that is no doubt towards the top of this board
that people would consider you an expert in the field.
On the New York Metropolitans starting there, Uncle Steve, this
is they traded away guys. They said, we'll eat the money,
we'll get better prospects back. They made a deep NLCS run.

(04:25):
I don't know if you remember that that this was
supposed to be the offseason anyways for them, and that
was with no playoff expectations. That happened that the Mets,
I mean, they're going to be in the top two columns.
Rose rose horizontal is rose, So give me a little.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Yeah, they're funky, they're funky right now, they're gonna land
on that top two. I don't know if they're quite
at the top, but they're definitely a contender. They have
one hundred and eighty million coming on their books, which
is absurd. Like you said, last year was the transition,
one hundred and eighty million dollars coming off their books.
They got out of the Justin Verland investing option because

(05:11):
he didn't hit his innings limits, so that contributes to that.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
Sures are deal done.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
I mean, all their bullpen is going to be out.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
You can go down as up quick.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
There's gonna be a lot of turnover, a lot of
guys will be back, and we'll see as soon as
tomorrow if Severino was one of those guys. Really important
offseason for them though, and this that was always kind
of the case, regardless of what happened in twenty twenty four,
which everything went as good as it could have gone.
So there, I have them top tier right now. And
I know I'm a little biased and I'm very honed

(05:43):
in on this, but I have them making more than
one impact move and many other moves on top of
that one because they have capital to spend. Two, because
they have a fire under their butt now because they
just went to the NLCS, so they're like, let's invest
in this team. Why not? And three, they've become a
desirable location. They're in New York, they have money to spend.

(06:04):
They've shown that they're willing to be competitive year in
and year out. So this is a really important offseason
for them because if things go as well as they
did in the regular season, you're looking at a team
that is probably going to be contending for a World
Series next year. Just really opening their window, not even
necessarily in the middle of it, because the window really

(06:24):
cracked open in June of this year. So a lot
to be done in the Mets front office. They got
a guy in charge that they like a lot, and
it looks like Steve Cohen is sort of stepping out
of the management decisions and sort of just saying, here's
the checkbook, do what you think you need to do,
and we'll get it done. So I have them at
the top, but I'm down to see that change if

(06:44):
we see another situation.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Let's put them up there for now. Because here's this
is where I get kind of crazy id with your Mets. Jolly,
what's the minimum starting pitchers they have to sign, sign
or trade for or this offseason. Three three is I
was gonna say two if you really want to be
minimum minimum minimum, if they're they're gonna sign three.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
If they're focused on, you know, getting a really good
center fielder or upgrading at third basin Movie Vianto's so first,
I understand if it's less because they have guys like
Jose Budo that they think can still start. Tyler McGill
has always shown flashes. But if they're opening up this
twenty twenty five World Series contention window, the best case

(07:30):
is one of the big fish aces, one of the
middle tier guys in the back end.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Guy three is right because Sang is coming off injury
right Peterson twenty one starts last year, Blackburn McGill butto Buddha,
butto but.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
You can call them the butt. He doesn't mind.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
That's good. That's a good sign. That's a good sign for.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
I'm not sure he knows what it means.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
You're going you're going to bring in three starting pitchers.
So that's already got a lot of teams beat with
their offseason right lineup wise, there's work to be done
again doing listing it as minimum, they would have to
bring in one major league starting player, like this is

(08:15):
even okay. We believe in Tyrone Taylor, we believe in
a Kunya, Bret Baty. A couple of those could be okay,
but minimum one MLB starting player.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Yeah, and they get all of their options for where
to put that guy or where the market is most robust,
like right field obviously, Wan Soto first base.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Have you been saying robust a little bit?

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Let's just say, just see if it catch your first
base Alonso and Walker obviously, third base Bregman is available
or an Auto apparently is available in trade, like, they
have tons of options there too, And every other hole
that's like plugged right now for them doesn't necessarily have
a great free agent market. So they're in a terrific
spot by all accounts like those year.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Who's your number one position guy?

Speaker 2 (09:02):
It's Wan Sot But I've been no, but for real,
I've been pushed. I've been saying that it's gonna.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Be Yankees because you know so let me let me
start over. Sure, yes, of course, if it's not Soto,
who's the guy that you think fits so fits everything? Trust,
who's the guy that you think fits all of this.
The best.

Speaker 2 (09:22):
The guy that I think who is not one Soto
that makes the team the best that they can be
H is Christian Walker. Okay, he fits the three year
window that they're gearing up for because that'll be the
length of his contract. Vastly improves the defense on our infield.
Hits just as well as Peter Alonzo, maybe with less

(09:43):
home runs, but the numbers are still there. Uh my heart,
says Alonzo. But Alonso is gonna get that bigger contract
and he deserves it, and I just don't think that
that big number fits into the Mets plans of we
need to address a bunch of different things with this
one hundred and eighty million that we have. Obviously, I'd
love it, and if the Mets go crazy, I'm down.
Obviously I'm still fan guys, like I'm being realistic, but

(10:05):
I'm still fan H. But I think realistically, if it's
not Soto, it's three starting pitchers Christian Walker, bonus pieces
go So yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
I guess. And again there's different ways to cut up
this exercise, but I mean, we're talking about four quality
minimum for quality major league kind of bona fide pieces
that the Mets will be looking to add.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
And just by how long this discussion has gone on,
this one team is the reason why I think they're
at the top. Well, I just have a lot to do.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Let's how about this, those four to five pieces that
you can almost lock in, Let's see who pops up
as a potential contender.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
I like that you said you had a.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
You said you had an interesting was it pick a direction?

Speaker 2 (11:00):
I had an interesting hold. I have an obvious pick
a direction if we want to do that first.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
There's a few obvious pick of directions. Let's get let's
get a hold question mark because I'm questioning even looking
at the category, but I do like it.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
You're gonna think it's crazy because they're obviously going to
do something, because they always do something. The Dodgers could
run it back and I think they would still be
World Series favorites, just with a fully healthy roster, because realistically,
besides ta Oskar, who are they losing besides a couple
of bullpen arms. H That was my like hot take

(11:33):
for Hold. But having them low in the list, I
understand feels kind of funky when it's an off season thing.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
So we know something out of ta Oscar Flaherty. Something's
going to go Dodgers. Yeah, and they could also have
a massive offseason, right, they're supposedly in on Soto like,
but they the.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Thing is they don't need it, which is why they
probably don't go Top two.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
Bullpen, Copek Phillips, band A Brazier. Yeah, that's a world
series bullpen. Bruce Starr is gonna come back mid season,
we found out today. Sure, that's just this new thing.
The lineup listed as of today, Sure, or excuse me,
the rotation Yamamoto, Otani, Glass Now Gonsolin, Bobby Miller, Dustin May.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
I'd say that's top five MB.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
That's pretty good. That's it's pretty good.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
It's pretty good.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
The lineup listed as of today, Shoho Tani, Mookie Bets,
Freddie Freeman, Will Smith, Maximuncy, Tommy Edmonds, Gavin Lux, Andy Pahes,
and James Outman.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
So you could say plugging holes, but it's really whole
and it's just left field.

Speaker 1 (12:39):
Just like a outfielder.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
But they also believe in their guys.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
A lot of teams would like to have Andy Pajees, like.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Had a great year and he was like their fourth
or fifth outfielder.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
I'm i like leaving it as hold this Dodgers team,
I don't think I get it. Yes, if the offseason ended,
this Dodgers team would be the favorite.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
I still have them as the best seaman baseball.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
And they're probably going to you could label plugging holes,
but I think cold is fine.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Like if Magic Johnson just wants to kick back and
take a couple of months off, good, We'll just take Yeah,
we'll just have them. Why not.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
How's how's your Rokie research going?

Speaker 2 (13:21):
I know that well, things are trending in the Dodgers
direction after I got a little bit of clarity today,
but there there's some nuances to it. It gets a little interesting.
You might have an answer sooner than you might expect.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
We did an uneducated Rokie talk last week, and so
get ready for this weekend for some education, folks. Dodgers click.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Let's you'na had some layups.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Let's start eliminating. We spend way too much time on
the Mets. Weird. Okay, let's get rid of some nothing matters.
It looks like the Rockies are on there. The athletics
we call them now.

Speaker 2 (14:01):
I mean we just know they're not going to spend
so nothing matters. Unfortunately, like there's nothing matters, but there's
so many ways you can make that team good, which
is right, Like they got really.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
Rook Butler.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
That's like one of the best outfields in the American League,
and it's just gonna go to waste. That sucks.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
I know that. Don't sleep on Sactoe. Let's see who's
off season. The Rays are really weird because how do
you ever label them? Have they Have they ever mattered
in the off season? I don't. I'm gonna leave them
so yeah, I can't.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
I can't put them in nothing matters because they're still
in the They're in Sasaki rumors.

Speaker 4 (14:43):
Too to them from me saying nothing matters as a compliment.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
They got bigger problems I have. They're doing stuff though.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
They are, I don't know what does any of it matter?
Does any of it matter?

Speaker 2 (14:58):
I would put them in nothing matter because these like minor,
these minor things that they're doing, like Hendrix and Darnolt,
they're not gonna be tangible, you know, proven.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
If they're lucky with one of them is tradable, white.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Sox, white socks go. That's what I was gonna put
That's just.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
Does anyone else stand out? As nothing matters. I don't
think so.

Speaker 2 (15:17):
I cap it there. Yeah, because I think the Marlins.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
See if anyone feels right later.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
Right like the I think some of the lower level teams,
they'll still do things.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
Okay, if you were looking for more A's Angels, Rockies
and White Sox talk tune in next time.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
I really like the A's position player cor I just
want that to be known. Okay, they're talented. Oh okay,
Zach Giloff had a down year. He'll be better next year.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Yeah, hey, all right, I'm not I'm not getting stucked
into that right now. Not who jolly olive? How about
our second tier someone that you think you can lock in.
They're probably not going for the top category. We currently
have it labeled as impact move needed. We wondered if

(16:05):
it should be one big fish. I guess what team,
As you look at the board right now, are you
like they need an impact move?

Speaker 2 (16:16):
I got an easy one here. They could even make
two if they wanted to. But I don't think it's
the way they do their business. But I do think
after even despite making the playoffs last year, their performance
last year and the injuries and how lacklustered the season
was comparatively, I think the Braves are due for a
big move. Okay, logically I think it's Willie Domas, but

(16:37):
I don't know if that happens because his price tax
is gonna get pretty big. But even if you want
to go the pitching route with them, they have sale
Ranaldo Lopez, Spencer Schwellenbank, and they just traded for Griffin Canning,
who they're probably gonna fix and make really good. And
that leaves one spot at the end, which is currently
Ian Anderson. But who knows if that happens.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
It's the best postseason pitcher of all time.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
Yeah, you know, let me just set a World Series
record and then I'll dip. I'll be out of your hair.
So I have them either adding an ace or a
short stop, and either way it's gonna make their team
a lot better. Plus they're all gonna probably be healthy
again next year and they'll probably win the analyst.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
So the only I don't want to say, fight back, Sure,
clap back of me, Jake, I'm going to clap back.
I'll make it clap no hands pause, Spencer Streider. Maybe
at some point next season. I don't know, ye, I
don't know what it's time. Ronalacunya will be back next season,

(17:36):
right I don't. I don't know if there's any timeline
stuff there. If I put Ronald Acunye Junior in right
field right now, the Braves lineup goes something along these lines. Acunya,
Harris Deuce, Albie's Austin Riley Maddeles and Marcelo Zuna, Kelnick,
Sean Murphy, Orlando Arcia. They could hold the rotation sail

(18:02):
Rinaldo Lopez and the Spencer Schilbuck canning eye on Anderson
and like I mentioned, Strider, I don't know April to May.
I just looked it up, okay, and that's Smith Shaver
and who's supposed to be very good. You know, a
couple other bodies whatever, Bryce Elder and Triple A remember
the way. So I guess my only interesting thing here.

(18:28):
You know, the Brave's gone Braves, and I think the
big move is coming. But if they plugged a hole,
if they signed a fourth starter, if they signed any
of the Mets starters that were free agents and that
was their off season, we would kind of shrug.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
I would still pick them as the analyst favorites. Right.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
That I I.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Need is the big word in the second tier, right,
because they don't need a big one. They don't need,
but they could be so scary if they did. I
think you want to go hold.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
I want to put plugging holes for now because this
this is where the exercise does get interesting, because I
think an impact move is coming. Like you said, I
don't know if they've been waiting for Adamis. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
They could get a big relief arm too.

Speaker 4 (19:15):
They got.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
This room to.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
Add an exciting starter, for sure. Every team has room
to add an exciting You give me.

Speaker 2 (19:23):
A setup man, a four or five starter and a
maybe just a minor shortstop upgrade on the braves and
one hundred and one wins.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
Right, and I'm yeah, like, hey, Acuon you comes back.
You got a Loreano Kellnick platoon is a weak spot
in your line.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
They made that work last year. Like Loreano's numbers last
year landed in a really good spot.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
No where Loreano hive. I want to leave it for
now because I think they're making an impact move. They
don't need it.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
But because we don't, that's not how they do business, right,
So like I'm doing a little like they got their
course fan theory or whatever.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
But I've got a team that I think needs impact move.
Impact move needed, no matter what. I don't know if
they can compete with the Mets. I think the Baltimore Orioles.
I was just about to say that they have to
write dude, Santan Dare and Corbyn Burns. If you don't
make ah impact move, you done messed up.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
They're really interesting because they're one of the few teams
that don't really have holes, but they need the big fish.
They don't have that big, big piece of like what
their team identity will be. It was Corbyn Burns. Sure,
I don't think they're going to get him back. I'm
willing to be wrong if they want to compete, and
they have new ownerships so you never know. But yeah,

(20:43):
they're losing santander As whilst they're losing their biggest home
run hitter and easily their best starting pitcher, and they
have money to spend, So yes, I fully agree they
need to make an impact move.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
Their rotation is currently Zach Efflin, who was better than
I thought he would be with them. Good for you,
Zak Rays and Rodriguez. Maybe build build it up, Dean Kramer,
Albert Suarez and trefor Rodgers that Marlin's trade. It is
interesting on their il Bradish did get TJ forgot about that.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
Yeah, that's a big blow for them. He was a
big fourth and Sion.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
I think their a lineup in theory doesn't need a pig.
They just need to burn up.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
Yeah, I mean they gotta. They have to see a
step forward from Holiday. They have to see a step
forward from Kurstad.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
Santandre was forty some homers, right, a lot of homers
to take out of that lineup. Just a stabilizing force
that is not there. They were second in home runs
last year.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
Even if the move is just re signing the Santander,
I still think that qualifies put in the big second tier.
That's a big He's gonna get a big deal. It's
gonna be a nine.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
Figure I think. I think you can. I think that's
locked in movie needed.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
Yeah, that's an easy oreles Uh, Let's see. Should we
put another one up there before we do that?

Speaker 1 (22:06):
Jolly, why don't we show him this big blitz Ball
Battle five game coming up Warehouse Games, Blitzball Battle five
wugas hook line Sinkers. Yeah, two really good teams without
a win.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
Exactly.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
Roight.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
That's the storyline. Who is gonna come out victorious because
both these teams have the potential to do a lot
of damage. Obviously we know the history with Sincas. Wugas
are a new team. Dan rolks of you man. That's
what we keep hearing, but we haven't seen it yet
translate to on field performance.

Speaker 1 (22:34):
I'm gonna take Wugas because look at old man Dan
right behind me right now. I don't I don't know
what he's writing for me.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
It's always gonna be hard to pick against Jimmy North.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
I believe in old men.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
I'm gonna have to pick Sincas well.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
There's no country for old men around here.

Speaker 4 (22:49):
Let's go Ougas come in your way later today from
the Warehouse blitz Ball Battle five.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
Make sure you go check that out on a Warehouse
Games YouTube channel. One of the best things we do
here at germ Bug mediums. So we currently we have
plugging holes with the braves, which is open to some interpretation.
We'll see. The only category that we currently don't have

(23:15):
anything in is pick a direction, and there's a lot
of candidates. I think give me your number one pick
a direction.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
Number one is maybe the easiest placement on this entire
thing for me. Toronto Blue Jays. We talked a little
bit about it before the show. This is a like
you said when you describe the tier. This offseason will
determine the next two to three to even four years
of Blue Jays baseball. They're pursuing one, so tho some

(23:49):
people believe it, some people don't. If they don't get
that big fish or another one in Corbyn Burns, Max Freed,
whatever they're veering towards, it might be time to start
blown this thing up to ensure that our future is
not going to be bad, because there have been numerous
times in this franchise's history where they waited too long

(24:10):
to blow it up and it really cost them. Like
in the mid twenty tens, Blue Jays, if they had
blown it up a year earlier, or even like a
half season earlier at a trade deadline, you would have
seen more competitive teams. But they held on too guys
like Bautista and Donaldson and Karnossi in a little too
long didn't get anything for them. This offseason I think
will decide what direction the Blue Jay's going.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
Man, I don't I've sunk my brain power into this
like once and I don't know.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
I just don't know, because are they it It seems
like they want to resign Vlad? Yeah, like and it
if Lad has hit this point, there's no sense in
him signing an extension unless Ronto rolls it out there,
and maybe they do, and maybe it's again we're so
caught up in this free agency, like after Vlad's last year,

(25:07):
do age times production again and Vlad.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
Four if he waits and does it again? Yeah, like
I don't That's also where I'm at with this, Like,
even outside of Soto, I don't think it's wise for
someone like that to sign right now because you're in
a bet on yourself scenario and that just creates another
problem for the Blue Jays. If they want two stars,
they me ended up with none, you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (25:33):
Yeah, And that's the Bashette thing feels like it's in
a weird spot. His value is also down. You're not
trading Boba.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
Sheet that even if you do decide to rebuild, you
shouldn't trade him now.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
So the question is, yeah, I don't know what they're
gonna do. You have to bring in bodies to make
Vlad feel like his last potential last year here isn't dead, right,
But you can't screw up your books enough that if
flat is worth five HUNDI, I think they're banking on that.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
There there is the other side of it, and I'm
Mets guys, so I'm gonna use a Mets example. Pete
had a really great twenty three, turned down the extension
from the Mets, and then went out and didn't have
his best Pete esque year. Laddie is on a different
level than Pete right now. But if Laddie, you know,
gets an extension off or turns it down, there's always
a world where he posts a twenty twenty three type

(26:28):
season where it's like a one fifteen ops plus, still
great numbers, but not star level and you might not
get that big pin day. So he's got a lot
to think about as well. Again, just an incredibly complicated
situation in Toronto. The thing that stinks about it is
that amidst all this, they have a really good starting
rotation and it's kind of maybe gonna get I mean,

(26:49):
I like it a lot still.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
I like their starting rotation going into last year, and
I got hurt a little bit by it.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
Yeah, it's just they have pieces, you know what I mean.
So if they do decide sell, oh my god, they
become the best team to trade with maybe like the
most pieces available. You're probably gonna get out of that
Springer contract, Like.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
Are coming.

Speaker 2 (27:11):
Times are changing.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
So I guess this is where things get a little
kinky here with impact move needed and plugging holes. The
Blue Jays direction can't be sell, right, I think it
can be and you just bank on blad Lad taking
the best money.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
Yeah, are yourself glad? Now take a direction they they
are they fit this tier perfectly because they can't. They
can't just sign a bunch of bonus pieces and expect
that to fix their team. I also don't think even
if it is one so no one star just fixes
everything for them.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
Do you think they are gonna do that? Though? I
do think they're gonna plug holes.

Speaker 2 (27:56):
I think that they really believe in what they built
and they recognize that this team made the playoffs tiers
in a row, and I think they're just gonna throw
more money at it. And I don't think that's a
good idea, Okay, And I think that stinks for Bluejays fence,
But that is what it is?

Speaker 1 (28:10):
I have another pick a direction layup. I think it's
the Cardinals. Yeah, I think they've been showing signs that
they're gonna what direction they're picking? Yeah, I think I
think they're The early word is that they're not rebuilding
but soft rebuilding. There. You haven't heard the Cardinals as

(28:30):
a big lead for a lot of free agents.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
Also, I thing we haven't seen them do a lot
in recent years like this is they used to run
me in es Central. They used to get whatever they
wanted and have a great offseason like every year. So
they're in a weird spot.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
What happened? Yeah? Pick a direction?

Speaker 2 (28:52):
Jolly, I have a good one if you want to.

Speaker 1 (28:55):
Oh, I think I might have just seen one too.
Where's what leagues your team in?

Speaker 2 (28:59):
I know?

Speaker 1 (29:00):
Oh, I have an ale one perfect count of three
three to one. Twins.

Speaker 2 (29:06):
Oh interesting Central? But what can the Twins really do?

Speaker 1 (29:13):
Pick a direction? Are you a competitive.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
I think there's only one way to go for them.
They can't put more money in the team because they
don't have more money. It's tough, right, but.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
I feel like they're going to They won eighty two
games last year. They're not going to hard sell still
have Korea and them right right, like they're still.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
In it that they get big trades they got guys.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
I would love for the Twins to pick a direction.
I think Twins fans would love for them to pick
a direction.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
Because god man, that that division felt like it was
there last year. I mean, so three teams make playoffs
last year, shocking in the division, crazy like that doesn't happened.
Like the Twins, for all their playoff shortcomings whatever, they
do very well in the American League Central often so like, yeah,
I agree, I think they figured out with.

Speaker 4 (30:14):
Some like very positive butter knives in the season they
finished fourth. Yere, how did his year finish a level
real good Korea War last year?

Speaker 2 (30:25):
I'll say three point two.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
He wore three seven Okay, you got yes games? Where
do you land? Like eighty six games? So when he
was out there, he was.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
But that's like kind of the entire Twins team. When
he's out there, he's good.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
Trade him to the Mets.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
Okay, let's talk base let's talk yeah.

Speaker 1 (30:50):
Have already done that, signed third base Puerto Rico trade
for Baia's trade.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
That whole two month period was so exhausted, man Hotly, I.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
Think a lot about. I think it was a cesspus
family barbecue. Two I saw.

Speaker 4 (31:04):
I was like, Wow, kids are gonna look back at
Carlos Kara's baseball references it and say he started with
the Astros then went to the Twins.

Speaker 2 (31:10):
Yep, and that's all that happened.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
Crazy.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
I had Cubs here as well. And I know you're
having a little bit of trouble with this because if
the Cubs go out and they sign some bullpen guys
and a back end starter and maybe you know, an
impact position player whatever, they could win the end essentral.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
See that's I think. I think that's where you and
I think we disagree a little bit because I think
that's I think the Cubs need an impact move. Oh really,
because jolly, if you go and okay, this is gonna
be fun and bad. Miguel Amaya catching, I don't know.

(31:54):
Fine catcher's a catcher. There's not a lot available. Sure
it is what it is. Michael Bush at first base, solid,
nice little breakout year, fine under contract, Eco Horner defensive,
Wi solid, Dansby Swanson solid, solid, solid price tag. He

(32:18):
sacked Parrettis, We'll see solid. I know there's concern it happened.
I know there's concerns, but he's twenty five. Yeah, he's
twenty five in half. Great player, Yeah, good answer, company
man awesome, he Crow Armstrong.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
I still believe in him.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
Probably gonna rack up war even if he just catches the.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
Ball, start hitting a little bit in September.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
Not picking. It's more pop than you think.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
Yeah, I mean he was a top five prospected in
the night system.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
Uh. Cody Bellinger so good? Good say a Suzuki good hitter,
DH listed DH currently not if.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
You want that big fish.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
Not a lot of these are a hole. The pitching
showed a steal tayon asad. Ben Brown, Hey, I do,
I'm not saying you wrong. I'd like to see more
out of big Ben Brown.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
The most I've ever like deferred on a team.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
I think, for me, what what if they plug holes?
I don't think that changes anything for them. Yeah, I
think if you bring in a big fish, it's like, okay, Cubs,
if they come back with this same team, that's a

(33:49):
bigger problem.

Speaker 2 (33:50):
So much has to go right. So even when you
add the start, so much has to go right. One
you already have so much money invested in this lineup right,
so much money, so they can't sell, right, So, God,
they're in a they're in a really they're in a

(34:10):
Blue Jays esque spot.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
If the Cubs, how about this, Srue, If the Cubs
plug holds this offseason, is that a good off season? No?

Speaker 2 (34:19):
No, no, it's not. It's not always about winning the
off season, Jake.

Speaker 1 (34:26):
Right, But if they roll this out there again and
it doesn't tick up ten to fifteen games, yeah, I
mean we got real problems.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
I'm with you that they can't sell because I just
don't think anyone wants part of a lot of these contracts.

Speaker 1 (34:45):
Team. They don't get why it doesn't.

Speaker 4 (34:46):
Want to I don't.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
Oh God, their off season is only a success if
they make a major move.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
I'm I'm willing to put them there, because you know what,
if you put them in pick a direction, we know
what direction they're gonna get. They're putting they're putting more
money into this team, or investing more. They can't stand pat.

Speaker 1 (35:08):
And impact move needed. Maybe we're getting we're getting hung
up on free agency, because again they're not. I've fallen
in love with the idea of them caving and getting
Corbin Burns because then it's Burns and in August Steel,
like you kind of you you up the annie for
the whole team if you do that, Like, hey, lineup,

(35:28):
you guys are good. We got three in the rotation.
Let's figure this out and win more baseball games. You
got I don't know if it's gonna happen.

Speaker 2 (35:37):
You got a lot to fixing that bullpen too.

Speaker 1 (35:38):
But the other thing is like we're kind of ignoring trades,
Like the Cubs could make an impact trade.

Speaker 4 (35:44):
I don't know who it is. I don't who are
the trade names. Robert Aeronatto, that Crochet.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
Like if the Cubs made one of those moves, we'd
be like, all right, Cubs, we're about I think I
think they need an impact move.

Speaker 2 (36:00):
I agree, going to get it done.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
I agree.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
They just didn't have a lot of money come off
the books. The biggest thing that came off the books
was Hendricks.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
They got money. These guys, we'll say, man, belly yankee,
everyone's got to have their best year in Robert to
cross Town.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
I think you need ima.

Speaker 1 (36:21):
I think that raises rising tides and the ships. You're
always talking about that.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
I'll tell you who else needs an impact move. Jake
your Boston Red Sox. They gotta do something. We gotta
do something.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
You're right, man, They're almost there. What are we doing?

Speaker 2 (36:36):
They play in the Al East, which is tough, but
they're almost there. I mean, they had their position player
core I think is awesome. Like they had a really
great lineup last year. I am a little confused why
they're really involved in the Wan Soto thing because I
think they get so much better if they add an ace.
And there's just so many great starting pitchers out there,

(36:58):
a lot of pictures like I mean, you know it's
one and Soda, so you should go for him. But
I really like Willy or Bray You Jared Duran had
a terrific year. I think people still understand how good
he was last year. We're gonna do the whole Trevor
story song and dance again, but if you get something
out of him, great. This is a really good lineup
in my opinion, and you can still add like a

(37:18):
bonus piece to it. They gotta add an ace. That's
that should be mission and top priority for them. Get
me a Burns, a Freed, a snow, a Sasaki, whatever
it is, gemionnaise, Yes.

Speaker 1 (37:33):
They I'm trying I'm just trying to think plugging holes
is interesting because what does that look like for them?
If that's again I hate going back to this example,
but you know, if it was Sevi and Manaiah, they
add Seve and Manaiah they add they do the Jonathan

(37:55):
India trade. Is that is that plugging holes? Is that
impact move needed? I mean, but to go to the
next level to say you're going to be above the Yanks,
You're going to be above the Orioles.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
If we're talking about like, dude, they lost some guys
who were good for them last year.

Speaker 1 (38:15):
Tyler O'Neil was really good. Yes, full pension PIV we
don't know yet.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
Which is why they need a big move.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
Yeah, it's not like we're I agree, and I think
Red Sox fans have been asking for that and we're
not just getting the same fourth place ross. We brought
in a new front office, okay, and Red.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
Sox fans should be expecting a big move, right. That's
the that's the status that this team is built up to.

Speaker 1 (38:36):
And I think the other thing, like you're saying, they
they've got some options with their young lineup that they
can if they need to get creative or do a
trade with one of those guys. Something can happen there
and they'd be fine. Yep that with the pitching depth.

Speaker 2 (38:54):
Any more. Answers there also think they might trade Yoshida.

Speaker 1 (38:57):
Yeah, Yoshida is interesting ninety you can hit defense And
as was I talking to you or someone in the
office that were like, you gotta be careful, like if
you trade the Japanese players, there's like a sign of
disrespect to that signing like future Japanese. I don't know,

(39:18):
that's just a comment below what's your favorite country? That's
that's just engagement. Okay, let's see impact move need I
let's I want to jump around. I think I've got
another easy hold. And this is funny because is this
just going to turn into good teams the Phillies. Yeah,

(39:41):
I know the Phillies are looking to make an impact
move and they're probably going to when Daddy Dombrowski starts
talking to the media like that something's coming happen first Bregman,
I don't know if it's Ernato, I don't they're Lewis
Robert's been rumored for a while, like they're probably going
to make a move. But if they don't, than this
tier pill. How important is that Philly's still here. If

(40:03):
the baseball started a playoffs tomorrow, they'd be one of
the favorites in the National League. So, sir, I expect
them to make a move. But if they did hold
whatever that means, they would be fine.

Speaker 2 (40:17):
I mean, the team that won the National League East
last year is largely coming back. The biggest thing for
them if they do want to make that big move
is they got to find a way to get rid
of Taiwan Walker's money, because that's fifty four million dollars
that they can free up for his next three years

(40:37):
or thirty six for his next two excuse me. And
then they got to fix their bullpen because they lost
a lot of guys in their bullpen. But otherwise they're
still really talented.

Speaker 1 (40:45):
Yeah, man, I was even trying to elevate them to
plug in holes. If they signed one reliever and not
even it's like it's like an almost agreed move Wheeler Sanchez, Nola, Suarez,
Walker a reliever, and even the line of I mean,
marsh and Hayes, you can make it work. You can

(41:08):
start the year with that, And I think it's problem.

Speaker 2 (41:12):
Like Andrew Panter and a Miller might be good to go.
They got prospects they like to that's here.

Speaker 1 (41:21):
Oh my god, that's Dombrowski's music.

Speaker 2 (41:23):
But like, that's what I'm saying. If they're gonna make
that big move, I think it's going to be a trade,
not money. You know, so we'll say that White Sox
that people keep doing the White Sox thing. I think
they're the destination.

Speaker 1 (41:36):
H Okay, okay, I.

Speaker 4 (41:40):
Think I have another easy hold. You're Brewers hold the
line like we still believe in what they do?

Speaker 1 (41:48):
Mm hmm, yeah, I mean do they do? They even
have holes holes to be plugged like a damas you
can do some something, whether it's adding like Thomas is gone,
and they don't care. I think they trust what they're about.
They just signed Davy Garcia, so that's covered.

Speaker 2 (42:06):
It's glad we got to mention that.

Speaker 4 (42:08):
I mean, so, yes, the strict guys away and it
won't matter plug holes.

Speaker 1 (42:14):
There's maybe an argument there.

Speaker 2 (42:16):
So that's a little where I'm at, because they definitely
believe in what they do and you shouldn't ever operate
your team this way. I do think that, like crushing
end to their season might change the way they approach
this offseason because it's been a very cyclical story for them.
Off they find ways to craft together run preventing good

(42:38):
pitching teams, and they get to the playoffs and it
just doesn't work. So that part of me makes me
think that they will try something new, but it's not
going to be an impact move because that's just not
what their ownership group does. So I think plug and
holes might be the best spot for.

Speaker 1 (42:52):
Them because I I think you're going to see a
starting pitcher get signed right now. Their rotation is listed
Peralta Wood, Drifts, Avalis and Aaron Ashby.

Speaker 2 (43:02):
With that infield defense would be would be.

Speaker 4 (43:06):
Just makes too much sense money And then like, yeah,
I think they're gonna do stuff and I and it
was another heartbreaking in so there's some some pressure on.

Speaker 1 (43:16):
The no no offense, and then the Brewers deserve all
the credit, like Oliver Dunn slotted as your starting third
baseman or Tea's making the move to shortstop, you can
I think there's an addition, there's gonna be a Brewers
paid fifteen mil for this position player. Brewerce played fifteen
mil for this starting pitcher. Offseason done, man, They've got a.

Speaker 2 (43:38):
Kind of what they did last year.

Speaker 1 (43:39):
They have a Brewers bullpen. Go check that out.

Speaker 2 (43:43):
As far as I'm concerned, Love that is your central
champion once again, They're not until they're not.

Speaker 4 (43:49):
Let's uh, let's plug holes with some brew cruise for now,
plug a hole, plugging holes.

Speaker 2 (43:57):
I got a good pick a direction for I think
one of the weirdest teams in baseball right now. Okay,
they're in the American League. If you want to guess,
Houston close as close as you can get the Texas Rangers.
What are we doing? We got to kind of figure
it out because I think everyone was like, you, guys
can have a hangover. You won the World Series. That's

(44:19):
perfectly fine. Now you're going about to be two years removed.
And that's where we start to get into this weird like, Okay,
are we like fully tied up in bad contracts and
this is just what it is? Or are we going
to try and start competing again? Because I think everyone
went into last year thinking like Rangers are back baby
Al West champs. Everyone's con consensus agreement, and like, you know,

(44:41):
you can't plan for things like the whole lineup taking
a step back and guys getting hurt and all that stuff.
But they can't just sit on their hands again, which
is kind of what they did last offseason.

Speaker 1 (44:51):
Yeah, I guess I would have to look at how
much money they have coming off of Valdi Heeny Yates Robertson.
Yeah that was your money, right, Yeah, you personally paid it.
I guess my My only fight back there is they're
not gonna sell no, you know, so I think they

(45:13):
might be plugging holes. Like if your Texas's front office
this offseason, ay, I don't know if you have a
lineup spot to plug. I think pitching you probably need one,
if not two starters, and you need you need a bullpen.

Speaker 2 (45:30):
You need like a whole bullpen. They're two best relievers
are out the door, like they need four pitchers. Yeah,
I like plugging holes.

Speaker 1 (45:37):
I think they gotta plug holes because I I think
I'm on the Texas train next year. I think they
had their World Series hangover.

Speaker 2 (45:43):
They're ready to come back and like we didn't see
the best of Evan Carter and White Langford. I still
think those two are gonna be really good baseball players. Yes,
and they're not gonna make that big money move for
a bat because I think they still believe in what
their lineup is capable of. That lineup won them a
world series. So get me a starting pitch. Sure, give
me a couple of relief arms and let's go like
they literally, well, you got cooked up something.

Speaker 1 (46:09):
So Josh Smith currently listed as their DH silver slugger
again year and utility. Josh Young has some injury history
whatever whatever that Texas d H spot that something's gonna
have Jock. I mean, that would be a kind of
nuclear move out of them.

Speaker 2 (46:30):
Man, I had I've been having trouble with Santan.

Speaker 1 (46:32):
There you you roll into camp with Josh Smith as
your util not your d H, and I think there's
a couple of dhs to be had. Who else is there?
It's Jock. It's great with them. A winker, I mean
even just a light like Jock. That Jadie Martinez lost

(46:55):
his sex appeal a little bit.

Speaker 2 (46:56):
But we can make that work, you butterknife. At September
he had a great.

Speaker 4 (47:00):
Okay, Okay, there will be a DHD Texas announced or
a hitter Marlins matter.

Speaker 1 (47:07):
I was, I keep looking at the Marlins. I think
we listed in they're nothing. Xavior Edwards look at that
on base percentage job.

Speaker 2 (47:14):
Auto baby, come on now, easy with that. I got
a big impact moved.

Speaker 1 (47:20):
Him, big impact move needed.

Speaker 2 (47:24):
We've been high on them, Jake. We did our free
agent draft and we were this was the talk of
the town. The Nlyst is about to get beefy because
I think the Washington Nationals are about to get involved
in a bad way. I think they're due for a
big boy move maybe maybe maybe even too because they
have so much money coming off. Their young guys are ready.

(47:47):
Dylan Cruise, James Wood, you know, c j Abrams could
possibly move into second base. Who knows. They have a
lot they can do. And I think it's really exciting
to be a DC fan right now because they kind
of won the World Series and then they just went
dormant and everyone's just been kind of waiting for the
next era. And I think it's finally here. And they
got a really good free agent class to spend some

(48:07):
money on. So like Bregman could be a possibility, Santan
dere could be a possibility. Any of the pictures could
be a possibility. No excuses for them. This needs to
be a big offseason for the Nets. Pete Pete is
a great example he could really fit there. It would
break my.

Speaker 1 (48:22):
Heart, but I was I was gonna try to lightly
counter just because there's an interesting case for hold interesting,
just because there's a lot of young talent. Let's see
what it actually is before we make our big splash.
Oh but you know, I'm not gonna fight you on
this one. I'm it's an attitude season. But that's valid though.
Twenty nineteen has been a minute.

Speaker 2 (48:42):
If they want to sell off that bs of like,
we got to see what we have and we want
to sell another year.

Speaker 1 (48:46):
They could plug holes with some rentals and make some
moves next year. But kind of like you're saying, this
free agent class, there's guys that make sense for them. Yeah,
not just for next year, but for a couple of
years that make the big move.

Speaker 2 (48:59):
I'm not come out and saying that the Nats are
a playoff team next year, but I think they're gonna
be that team where it's like they signed these big deals.
The first year is kind of rough because it always is,
and then next year is when they get.

Speaker 1 (49:10):
Serious and an outfield that might rack up war shit Wood, Cruise, Young,
Jacob Young.

Speaker 2 (49:17):
Kybert Ruiz, we gotta play better, Come on, gotta step
it up.

Speaker 1 (49:21):
Yeah, they they They have arguments for hold or even
plugging holes with this young core, but the impact move,
it's needed.

Speaker 2 (49:30):
The impact move might not be there in another year,
you know what I mean, and like Flattie might.

Speaker 1 (49:35):
Not feel as good. They need it to be like
full excited for next year. And I've got one that's
hurting me because this is a jaky favorite and last
year kind of left us limping.

Speaker 2 (49:48):
Is it Mariner's dunk time?

Speaker 4 (49:50):
No, it's coming out of my issues with them Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (49:56):
I don't know those Reds pick a direction.

Speaker 1 (50:02):
It's just tough because this was supposed to be their direction,
right Like they can't. It's not like they have veterans
to sell.

Speaker 2 (50:11):
The young pitching hasn't really gotten it done yet.

Speaker 4 (50:15):
Tamer Chambers to a tough year. I think one of
my favorite free agent signs last year, did.

Speaker 2 (50:21):
He land league average just below?

Speaker 1 (50:23):
I think to end up with it or twenty nine slug.

Speaker 2 (50:26):
That's not what they paid for though, you know what
I mean.

Speaker 1 (50:28):
No, I think they're plugging holes. If we're being honest,
you sign a starting pitcher, you sign.

Speaker 2 (50:39):
If you play. I think they're just gonna end up
with eighty two wins if they do.

Speaker 1 (50:42):
That, well, you missed Matt McClain last year, you did?

Speaker 4 (50:49):
You know you?

Speaker 1 (50:50):
TJ. Friedel was out a lot of last year. Jamer
Candelario has a down year like you have. The young
pitchers that you're hoping are taking another leap by the way,
look Greens finals, Yeah it happened. You might have missed it.
Never mind. Martinez Ret Louder with a cup of tea,
a cup of coffee. Calls it a cup of tea,

(51:12):
A cup of tea? What was that? British Lidolo Louder Martinez,
Abby Green. That's that's a nerdy baseball rotation for you.

Speaker 2 (51:21):
I think of the thirty teams, this is the team
that I struggled the most with, right.

Speaker 1 (51:25):
I still don't I don't know what the vision is.

Speaker 2 (51:28):
I don't know what it is like. Is this a
team that's gonna score ten on you and that's like
how they beat teams? Is this a team that's going
to rely on their young flame throwing starting pitching because
we have to lean one side or the other.

Speaker 1 (51:41):
I gave you two options, sure, hold or plug holes.

Speaker 2 (51:45):
You can't hold, so plug holes, I guess I can't sell,
can't you.

Speaker 1 (51:53):
And there's permanent India rumors, the one.

Speaker 2 (51:56):
I'm so sick of India rumors. Just a side, give
him an extension.

Speaker 1 (52:02):
That's the direction. I'm telling them to pick up cultrade
him or don't.

Speaker 2 (52:07):
Yeah, sure you got it, and I'm disgusted.

Speaker 1 (52:10):
The starter to defend the kids. One guy in the lineup,
Red's baseball. Roll the ball out there, Ellie, David day
La Cruz.

Speaker 4 (52:16):
Is a freak.

Speaker 1 (52:21):
A fifty minutes in and no New York Yankees. What
is this program?

Speaker 2 (52:26):
Impact move? We all know what the move is.

Speaker 1 (52:30):
They need to sign or replace that one guy. Pick
a direction impact move need. Yeah, obviously it's either one
of the biggest free agent contracts of all time or
it's multiple.

Speaker 2 (52:41):
Kind of like, dude, if you don't get Soto, the
off season gets so fun. There's so many things you
can do.

Speaker 1 (52:46):
With all that money, start getting creative. But it's one
I just don't know how creative or fun it gets.
Is the Is that creativity more fun than just having one?

Speaker 2 (52:56):
So again, it depends on what it where it lands.

Speaker 1 (53:00):
It's a fund mental activity. Who wants to play first?

Speaker 2 (53:03):
Yeah, I listened to your Yanks off season plan an
episode got nauseous with all the outcomes and the numbers,
and it's a lot go check it out, it's a
lot leave it dislike, don't do that, don't do that,
don't do.

Speaker 1 (53:15):
That, Jollie. I'm I'm getting nervous because we're we're getting
deep into this thing and I've got a lot of
teams that I'm kind of wide eyed and bushy who
stares at you. I mean, we can get the Mariners
over with and get that fight out of the way.

Speaker 2 (53:31):
No, I got an easier one. I'm hoping this is
the direction they go. The Giants should plug in holes
this offseason. Year in and year out, we do the
whole thing where they're rumored for the big fish and
then they drive up the price and they don't get them.
And I gotta think, if you're a Giants fan and
your Giants ownership and your Buster Posey knew in this position,

(53:53):
you have to go about things a different way this year.
And you know what, man, if you add like a
Hasung Kim to this team and like a nice mid
tier starter to back up Logan Webb and maybe another
back end guy on top of that, you can spread
this money out and make this team really good, Like
they're not gonna be the Dodgers, And I think that's
kind of implied. But there's no reason why a position

(54:15):
corps of Tyler Fitzgerald, Matt Chapman, Elliot Ramos, Patrick Bailey
that team can be good. So they just got plugging
some moles.

Speaker 1 (54:24):
Yeah, I'm not gonna fight you on it.

Speaker 4 (54:27):
You know, a big move would be cool and we'd
get excited. Yeah, they've been trying to do the big
move and like nobody will agree to be it.

Speaker 1 (54:37):
They kind of did. Last kind of turned into their.

Speaker 2 (54:41):
Big movie, right, kind of in the posey Giants I do.

Speaker 4 (54:45):
There's like I think a lot of their fan base
would be perfectly happy with, like, hey, we grabbed like
four new guys. Hopefully three are like pretty good in
our long term pieces.

Speaker 2 (54:56):
It's true on.

Speaker 1 (54:57):
Paper, man, they if they had an MLB hit her
in the lineup and they had a starting pitcher, you
can roll that team out there and play some Giants baseball.

Speaker 2 (55:05):
It's just that the problem at Sterald sucked like five
hundred last year. It's pretty good.

Speaker 1 (55:13):
He was very good in the games he played in.
Had that with labor Tores Okay, Giants are plugging holes.
Are the Royals plugging holes?

Speaker 2 (55:23):
I think so? Yeah, pretty fundamentally, Like just dude, get
some outfielders, get some outfielders, and let's party, you.

Speaker 1 (55:29):
Know, because even if it was the one big impact move,
that would almost feel like a miss. Like they need
more of a well rounded team and.

Speaker 2 (55:36):
That's not what they've ever done, you know, like that's
not Royal's way. But like, you know the fact that
I think I in my research for my video last week,
they were the up bottom three team in outfield offensive
production and they still made the DS Like that's remarkable.
But like signed to out sign, signed and signed Tyler O'Neal,
and your team is so much better, you know, Like

(55:59):
it doesn't have to be that complicated for them. They
have a great rotation. They're gonna add Kyle Wright to it.
We'll see what we get. And I believe in their
bullpen and the guys that they traded for at the
deadline last year. Some of them are still under control,
like Lucas Ersek, who is very good. So I like
where they're at. They just need a couple more bats.

Speaker 1 (56:15):
Michael Massey, Massy is good, It's good. Player, pretty swing.

Speaker 2 (56:19):
Yeah, it is some disgusting Yeah, man, these are Tigers.
I think is easy on I have them, is pretty easy.
I think it's impact move, right.

Speaker 1 (56:36):
That's where I have. Is it needed?

Speaker 4 (56:39):
I don't think it's needed for it to be a
free agent like we've been talking about with sniff test stuff.

Speaker 2 (56:43):
I don't know that you're gonna have another magic September
like they did. And I think that was really good
for them because that's the evidence that like, okay, the
roster that we built can compete. You got it right?

Speaker 1 (56:56):
Yeah, an impact move is needed.

Speaker 2 (56:57):
It's kind of needed.

Speaker 1 (56:58):
How many years of school do we have? Two?

Speaker 2 (57:01):
We can start to play that two? Is it two way?

Speaker 1 (57:04):
Two or three?

Speaker 2 (57:05):
It's that close? How long has he been around?

Speaker 1 (57:07):
Which either way?

Speaker 2 (57:08):
Oh wow, yeah is twenty seven? So that's three.

Speaker 1 (57:12):
I think we gotta go. Yeah, I'm seeing two. Oh boy,
we gotta go.

Speaker 2 (57:16):
So, yes, you know what, you should reward the team
that just got you to the DS man like I
don't think anyone had that in their cards and carry.
Carpenter played great, Raley Green played great, Like these guys
deserve a nod from ownership that what they did was
significant and the nod. You give is a big free agent.

Speaker 1 (57:35):
Yeah, and I'll I'll give us an escape route if
we need it. It would be pretty impactful if they
said Trek Schoogl extension.

Speaker 2 (57:43):
Sure, I chucked that up as a win.

Speaker 1 (57:45):
It's a cop out answer, but that would feel huge
for Detroit's franchis.

Speaker 2 (57:49):
Everyone feels like he's the best picture.

Speaker 4 (57:51):
If they plugged holes and extended Scoob, Yeah, that counts
as as Okay, a good offseason, I think because then
you can also to consolidate into an impact guy.

Speaker 2 (58:06):
You can go ace for them and suddenly you have
a like imagine if you had a Max Freed and
Trek Schoogle lefty tandem. That's gross, that's insane. Or you
can go bat route. You can get Pete at first base,
you can get Bregmant to play third like they got.
They have a lot of options and they have money,
so let's make it happen.

Speaker 1 (58:24):
Okay, I have another impact move needed. This is this
one's been tough. Pittsburgh Pirates. I'm sorry, man, if.

Speaker 2 (58:36):
You roll that out there, it's gonna be the same thing.

Speaker 1 (58:39):
I know, but.

Speaker 2 (58:43):
I'm with you.

Speaker 1 (58:44):
That's a problem.

Speaker 2 (58:44):
I'm with you.

Speaker 1 (58:46):
You've got it. You've got everyone saying that these young
pitchers never happen, and if you have that, you've got
to go. And the front office came out and said
we need to add, and you added.

Speaker 2 (58:58):
I kf and Brian Da La Cruz.

Speaker 1 (59:02):
That ain't it pop impactful?

Speaker 4 (59:03):
For some? Like I I was.

Speaker 2 (59:07):
I was doing some impassioned speeches on Talking Baseball earlier
this year about how we need to You don't know
when all three of these guys will be healthy at
the same time in the future. It could be next year,
and there could be you know, the Pirates could look
smart for being a little bit more conservative, but it
also could not be like, that's the game you play
when your strength is young starting pitching who throw really hard.

Speaker 1 (59:31):
Get Brett Rooker yesterday, Brett Rooker yesterday.

Speaker 2 (59:36):
That would be such a good fit due their DH
is a switch hitting backup catcher.

Speaker 1 (59:41):
I don't like that currently, let's go.

Speaker 2 (59:43):
I don't like that their first basement is Billy Cook.
Who is that? I'm sorry?

Speaker 1 (59:49):
I like the way he plays.

Speaker 2 (59:51):
Signed Pete Wow, But imagine if they did. You know,
there's no reason why they can't. And just the Pirates
make me so mad. Good Pittsburgh is a proud sports town.

Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
They're ready to be fun.

Speaker 2 (01:00:08):
Why does her baseball team suck?

Speaker 1 (01:00:09):
I can't wait for an angry forty four year old
Jolly Olive.

Speaker 2 (01:00:14):
Would just frustrate me endlessly.

Speaker 1 (01:00:19):
Okay, another one that I kind of need to defer,
the kickoff Diamondbacks. Yeah, p and H's.

Speaker 2 (01:00:29):
I mean, let's remember that the Diamondbacks had the same
record as a team that made the playoffs last year.
They fell that short of being in the dance, and
who knows what they would have done if they got it,
And I think we would have spoke about them very,
very differently if we saw some October run from them. Again,
with that being said, pitching is a little bit of

(01:00:52):
a mess right now. They're in the Montgomery situation, which
I think ownership handled fairly poorly great because like, who
knows what Monty looks like with a proper spring training
and you kind of just threw that out the window.
So for them, I think they're probably plugging holes. I
think we know their direction. Their direction is to be competitive.
I also would listen to an argument for hold, because

(01:01:15):
I think the team that I'm looking at right now
is good and can compete, but they probably need a couple.

Speaker 1 (01:01:24):
Yeah, it's just tough. Hold has become a tricky part
of this exercise because I have a couple more HOLD
teams where rotation looks better than I expected to look
at it.

Speaker 2 (01:01:37):
Brandon Fought had a nice year, That's okay. Montgomery e
Rod should be better, right.

Speaker 1 (01:01:45):
I think should be around plug in holes?

Speaker 2 (01:01:51):
Do get me a center fielder plugging holes?

Speaker 1 (01:01:53):
Get keeper replaced Jock At an outfielder or a first
basement Harrison Vader is a diamondback. Okay, he is all right?
Maybe they're hold. Let's go, let's plug some holes for now.
What do you ever do with the rays?

Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
Yeah? Raising guardians, I'm struggling a lot. Guardians might be
hold is that crazy?

Speaker 4 (01:02:17):
I was thinking about pick a direction for them, particularly
in regards to like the n Josh Naylor situation.

Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
So they do this thing where when a player enters
their last year, they usually trade them. But they didn't
do that with Shane Bieber, and it did bite them
because they probably should have known what happened. So maybe
I actually kind of like pick a direction for them.

Speaker 1 (01:02:41):
Direction do we they're going to compete for the Ale Central?

Speaker 2 (01:02:46):
It felt like they got into the ALCS by accident.

Speaker 1 (01:02:50):
I'm leaning hold currently. Okay, I'm not sure how much
because like matters. Okay, so this is not in nothing matters.
What are we labeling this?

Speaker 2 (01:02:59):
Hold is like we think you can still compete with
the returning This is going to sound really dumb, but
the whole episode off season uh raking off season importance.

Speaker 1 (01:03:08):
Most important off season for me. They need to hold Naylor.

Speaker 2 (01:03:13):
Yeah, like that's a really big out well because I
think they they like Monzarto, sure, but you can't just
like they just had too much hitting.

Speaker 1 (01:03:23):
Again.

Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
You can't just give him the keys, you know what
I mean. You can't just be like, all right, we
got our guy by Naylor because Naylor's a thirty homer
pat which is so so needed in this lineup. Holds.

Speaker 1 (01:03:33):
I think I'm sick if they plug some holes. But
I don't even think they do that.

Speaker 2 (01:03:38):
And I don't think they're going to go on sign
a starter.

Speaker 1 (01:03:43):
I mean they'll get like a bargain bin guy, but
even that, they're bullpen. No, they're not going to pay
out there, no way. I mean, who in their lineup
do they hate?

Speaker 2 (01:03:54):
I mean I think they they I don't think they will,
but I think they should try and do something with
short stop because I don't of Brian Roki is the answer.

Speaker 1 (01:04:01):
I think they're in on Roki.

Speaker 3 (01:04:03):
We're holding at least.

Speaker 2 (01:04:08):
I also let me take I'm gonna look one second
before I say this out loud.

Speaker 1 (01:04:14):
Well, I don't know if I'm if this is the
team you're talking about. I think I've landed on rays
for hold because if they hold Yandi and Brandon Lao,
I'm going to like them in the American League next year.
They're getting some of their pitching back, They're getting a
whole rotation, getting a whole rotation.

Speaker 2 (01:04:37):
Which is supposed to be the strength of their team.

Speaker 1 (01:04:39):
Even if they flip one of Diaz and Lao, who
are their too first listed hitters Cam and Aro Josh Lowe.
I'll trust the decisions.

Speaker 2 (01:04:50):
We're going to get a full Camon Arrow season. He's
gonna be really good.

Speaker 1 (01:04:55):
Yeah. I mean they need to hold, and that's even
like them selling. I don't. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:05:03):
I would like like a trade for a better dah option,
even though that feels very non raise. It's just not
the way they do things. But like.

Speaker 1 (01:05:13):
I guess part of this extra if they rolled out
the squad you see on their Baseball reference, if that
is a wildcard contender, you obviously always want a little
more out of the Rays.

Speaker 2 (01:05:24):
But it's almost weird that they weren't in the picture
last year because I always just have them as like
they're gonna be there in September and then we'll see
what happens.

Speaker 4 (01:05:32):
If these if these sickos could bring in Jock Peterson,
like that would change their whole outlook.

Speaker 2 (01:05:39):
It I know, because they would deploy him perfectly. But
there's no way they do.

Speaker 1 (01:05:42):
They're gonna hold.

Speaker 2 (01:05:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:05:44):
So the final three teams San Diego Padres, your Seattle
Mariners in Houston, shout out West Coast and Houston.

Speaker 2 (01:05:56):
Three of the most important offseasons in my opinion.

Speaker 1 (01:05:59):
Right here, I didn't want to. I've been wondering who
can compete with the Mets every day. Jolly, call me crazy,
call me maybe, I think. Do the Seattle Mariners have
an argument?

Speaker 2 (01:06:14):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:06:14):
They do because this is a pivot year man, because
their their.

Speaker 2 (01:06:18):
Pick a direction is like five different directions, Like, okay,
are we going to start to chip away at our
rotation to go get a bat? Are we gonna full
sell all of these controllable arms because we don't believe
in the roster that much. Do we just try and
sign hitters again, even though it didn't really work last year,
and we have money to spend. They're in such a

(01:06:42):
weird spot, but they have so much talent.

Speaker 1 (01:06:45):
So I don't think it would be pick a direction
because they're trying to compete. They have this core of pictures. Dude,
it's kind of like the Pirates, right.

Speaker 2 (01:06:54):
They also spent money on an extension mid season last year,
so they're very clearly yeah right now, Like that's a
sign to me that they're still trying to I'm a believer.

Speaker 1 (01:07:04):
They're trying to win. Yeah, they have Julio, they have
Kyle Rawley, they have a whole rotation. They're trying to win,
so they have the best rotation, not a whole, they
have the best rotation. They've tried plugging holes. It does
not work. It's one, it's the top two, and.

Speaker 2 (01:07:21):
People don't want to sign there, so they kind of
need to make trades. Hitters don't want to sign there,
I should.

Speaker 1 (01:07:26):
Say, so, thank god we have all these young pictures.

Speaker 2 (01:07:31):
I'm down to put them at the top.

Speaker 1 (01:07:33):
I'm interested as the second top team.

Speaker 2 (01:07:35):
That's the second top team because, like you can, you
cannot just roll this out again next year. Getting Randy
I think was big for They had a good trade
deadline all things considered. Yeah, you know the season was
a failure. Like getting Robust and Randy at the deadline.
I think it was really good for them.

Speaker 1 (01:07:52):
Let's keep it al. Yeah, the Houston Astros, you know
who their listed third basement is right now, Give anyone
a nickel if you get it.

Speaker 2 (01:08:06):
Uh tall Kid, uh Shae Shaye Shay Shaye station. I
don't know, Jay Witcomb, Yeah, it wasn't gonna get to Witcomb.
Got Shay though.

Speaker 1 (01:08:17):
Proud of you on that. Altuve, Tucker, Alvarez, Jiner Diaz,
like that, Jeremy Paana like that, Myers McCormick, Oh boy,
Victor Cartiny.

Speaker 2 (01:08:30):
It gets ugly, Click.

Speaker 1 (01:08:32):
Framber Hunter Brown, Rono Blancer and again at the Luis
Garcia And at some point I'm going to assume yours
is going to pitch again. I don't know how long
Hobvier's out for pitching. Still there, hater a Bray you
Presley Taylor, Scott, Taylor Scott, I think one move needed.

Speaker 2 (01:08:55):
No, this team needs peed Alonzo.

Speaker 1 (01:08:58):
It's a big move.

Speaker 2 (01:08:59):
This team needs a Peter Alonzo with the Crawford boxes
is fifty home runs for free.

Speaker 1 (01:09:05):
Pretty short down the lines too to write if.

Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
I mean he was the pick I made and then
the video I did last week, and like I just
I just think it makes so much sense. It makes
so much sense.

Speaker 1 (01:09:16):
Too big Tucker hour that if they're gonna.

Speaker 2 (01:09:19):
Top five is so good.

Speaker 1 (01:09:21):
It's not bad.

Speaker 2 (01:09:22):
That's a full season at a Tucker.

Speaker 1 (01:09:23):
To bad sign. But they need an impact move.

Speaker 2 (01:09:30):
Yeah, they do.

Speaker 1 (01:09:31):
If if we come out of the off season and
Houston has added they just like plugged the first base
hole and Kakuchi and like that's it.

Speaker 3 (01:09:50):
If their bad answer Coucie Goldschmid and whatever whatever the
third base Cokuchi and gold Schmid isn't the off season
they need no, So yeah, that starts getting into astros.

Speaker 2 (01:10:05):
We got to have a big, bad move move.

Speaker 1 (01:10:08):
Okay, done done. That leaves one team a popular team
around this office. Sure does the San Diago Padres. They
don't know because they're not sure where their ownership is at.

(01:10:28):
They got a lineup, although some of the names currently
listed at the bottom of the lineup. I cannot give
you Terso or Nialis's scouting report. Wish I could cease King, Darvish, Vasquez, Waldron, Yeah, Musk, Hurts, Suarez,

(01:10:48):
Jason Adam. They they got a bullpen back there.

Speaker 2 (01:10:53):
I'm at hole.

Speaker 1 (01:10:56):
It seems daunting, and I guess the Padres have also
so impactful that I think it's in our heads, but
they just have to plug holes. Yeah, I mean, so
far in a starting pitcher and we're all like, okay,
pro far starting pitcher, some reliever situation.

Speaker 2 (01:11:12):
I think the Padres have had a little big move
itis of like every off season, let's win the off season.
And sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't. This top
six of their lineup is in my opinion, World Series caliber,
so just supplement it. Like that's kind of what they
did last year. They got like David Peralta at the
back end, and he was pretty good for them. Like
those caliber of moves make this team a lot better.

(01:11:34):
Like get the guys that are good defenders, get the
guys that can play multiple positions. Missing Hasan Kim sucks
for them, Like they need to find someone that can
fill that role because that was really important to their team,
and then they need back in starting pitching because I
don't know the confidence level in Vasquez or Waldron. But
that top three it's really good, you know.

Speaker 1 (01:11:55):
Yeah, one hundred eleven games last year? Okay, Ander Bogart's
had a one point two b war not good? How many?
How many more years he gets paid for?

Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
Ten?

Speaker 4 (01:12:09):
Nine? Nine?

Speaker 2 (01:12:11):
I didn't like it wouldn't happen eleven years?

Speaker 1 (01:12:14):
Felt big. I was gonna throw out, like, can you
trade him back to Boston and kind of heal that wound?
But I don't that was it'd be very against.

Speaker 2 (01:12:22):
That was the mega deal where I think they already
had a really good offseason and I was kind of this.

Speaker 1 (01:12:26):
I was the one who felt felt like overkill. That
was the Sidler bomb. Jimmy, who's Jeff? Oh yeah, breaking
mmmm yeah, he'll be excited, all right. So that rounds

(01:12:46):
it out. So where do you put the padres?

Speaker 2 (01:12:49):
I had them?

Speaker 1 (01:12:52):
I like, where at the top most important offseason Mets Mariners,
a l NL, the Mets thing we laid out an
hour ago Seattle.

Speaker 4 (01:13:03):
Yes, dude, going into this, I didn't think they were
gonna end up there, but it makes sense.

Speaker 1 (01:13:10):
They're gonna trade castile, but like good because you can
still be of substantial moves.

Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
Like you can still have the best rotation base off
you trade them impact moves needed Orioles, Cubbies, red Socks, Gnats, Yanks, Tigers, Pirates, Houston, Astros,
plugging Holes, the Braves, the Brewers, the Reds, the Giants, Royals,
Diamondbacks and our Fathers. The Padres pick a direction, Blue Jays,

(01:13:42):
Cardinals and Twins. Oh my, oh yeah, I don't like
that plane.

Speaker 4 (01:13:48):
I do not like.

Speaker 2 (01:13:48):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (01:13:50):
Not where you want to be hold Dodgers, Phillies, cards
and Rays. Those are kind of like good franchises. Just
label good franchises and nothing matters. God, I feel like
these teams end up towards this part of the list.
A lot athletics who don't have a city name anymore,

(01:14:12):
the Rockies, the Halo's, the White Sox, and the Marlins.
I think I think that's pretty good.

Speaker 2 (01:14:19):
Halo's will spend more than half the teams on this list.

Speaker 1 (01:14:21):
I think that's pretty good. Yeah, they already have sound
off in the comments. Everyone thanks Jolly Alla for joining us.
Comment about his hair. That's the office's biggest activity and
go check out his video coming out this weekend on
Roki sock More. Educated should be interested. I didn't. I

(01:14:43):
didn't really, Thanks y'all.

Speaker 4 (01:14:44):
Thanks man liking Jackie's production of Dan Patrick Productions, JOm
Boy Media, and Workhouse Media.
