Meet Friday. Pork belly, bond Me sandwiches, Vietnamese summer rolls,
(00:51):
coconut fried rice.
Speaker 2 (00:55):
Who has it better than we do?
Speaker 4 (00:58):
Nobody.
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Yeah, Dylan is out there whipping up a batch of
some delicious goodies. But I wasn't quite familiar with the
pork belly, bond Me sandwiches and the summer rolls and
the coconut fried rice.
Speaker 5 (01:14):
Yes, those bond Me sandwiches have really caught on in
the past decade, food trucks, specialty stores. They're very refreshing.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Stat of the day brought to you by Panini America,
the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show. First down,
we're brought to you by the great folks at Maco
as in makeover. How about we bring your car back
to life? Affordable paint jobs like collision repairs. Get a
free estimate today, Oh better get Maco. Also, we have
our good friends from Tire Rack there in the building
(01:41):
and came in to change the tires for Mario. He
was voted the most valuable backroom guy. Ti Iraq reached
out and said, we're going to get you four new tires,
just like they did for Fritzie as the most valuable
Dan am All right, poll question, Seaton, what are we
going to go with? Because we are a what have
you done for me lately? Reactionary sports society? So feels
(02:03):
like everybody's going Indiana's they're going to win this thing, right, Well,
not so fast, okay, see going back home now you're
favored by eight and a half, but the pressure is
clearly on them because nobody thought Indiana would get this
far here they are, and all of a sudden that
bench is formidable, and they dominated last night. Now slow start,
(02:27):
and then all of a sudden they got going forty
eight points from the bench. Now, I was wondering, in
the last forty years, how often do you get forty
eight points or more from your bench in multiple games?
Because in Game three the bench scored forty nine points.
They're the only team in the last forty years to
(02:49):
have this happen where your bench got you forty eight
or more in at least two games. In the NBA finals. Also,
thirty eight percent of their scoring came from the bench
in the finals. That's the most of any team in
the last forty years.
Speaker 5 (03:06):
Wow, stall of a day, Stanta day, Statuta day, stand
outa day.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
This is the stule of the day. Bativ I be
in America.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
I know talent wins games, but when you're gonna win
a title, it takes more than just a great starting five,
it's a team. And a lot of times in the NBA,
when you get to the finals, you get to the postseason,
your rotation gets shorter and shorter. There's fewer players that
you put in the rotation, and that means if you're
gonna sub somebody in and you're gonna sub somebody out.
(03:43):
Maybe you're going two or three players deep. But with
Indiana and Okasee, they play a lot of players. Indiana
didn't shoot the lights out. They shot thirty five percent
from deep. OKC was eight of thirty in a potential
closeout game.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
But now coughing up the ball.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Turnovers, it felt like I think they had twenty one
or twenty two turnovers, felt like every one of them
were in the first half. And Shay Gilgess had a
horrible game. He had eight turnovers. Well, when you have that,
you get a spark from your bench. I didn't have
to lean on Tyrese Haliburton that much, although I thought
he played once he got acclimated to the game, and
(04:24):
I think he played twenty three.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Minutes like that's good. And I thought that he would
be a decoyl I thought, you have him there.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
I don't want him handling the ball as much as
he normally does. TJ McConnell was great again off the bench.
Although we come in today and we're talking about Indiana
and how they played and who played well and ob
topping and we said, hey, TJ. McConnell was great again,
and Seaton goes, I hate TJ McConnell. I don't want
him on my team, and.
Speaker 6 (04:52):
I go, wait a minute, I didn't say hate TJ McConnell.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
I have about an ITEAM investigation here.
Speaker 6 (04:58):
I said that I don't really aesthetically care for the
way that he plays, and I don't want a guy
like that on my team.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
I think we have a direct quote. You might have
said that you hate TJ McConnell. Yeah, it's just sports hat. No, no,
just sports hate. That's the guy you want on your team,
don't you.
Speaker 6 (05:17):
I think you know what, probably smart basketball people would say, yes,
I don't want that dude anywhere.
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Stop trying so hard? Stop it.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
God, you need those guys. Because I kept wondering, Okay,
how good? Why does he not like TJ McConnell gives.
He tries so hard, just try so hard. It's like, dude,
stop he tries so hard.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Isn't that that's the goal? Isn't don't you want to guy?
Speaker 6 (05:41):
I understand how the words coming out of my mouth
make very little sense, but God, the dude, he just
try so hard.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Would you just stop try crazy?
Speaker 3 (05:52):
You know guys are making money right before us I
go be top and is playing himself into some money. Now,
you know, former University of eight first round pick. I
don't know what TJ McConnell's contract status is, but I
know one person who knows.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Paul Y.
Speaker 5 (06:08):
TJ McConnell picked the worst time to play the series
of his life. He is fully under contract for the
next four years.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Now.
Speaker 5 (06:15):
The good news is he's gonna making eleven million dollars
per year the next four years, which will double his
career salary in just next four years. But he is
locked up. He cannot benefit from this run. Wow, it's
just good hard work, he doesn't He just Yeoman's work.
Speaker 7 (06:31):
Man.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
That's a bummer.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
Obie Toppin's gonna get paid, man. He led him in
scoring last night with twenty That's exactly what TJ McConnell.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
The kind of dealer with that.
Speaker 6 (06:41):
Yeah, it's already team friendly and it's locked up for
four years. I'm gonna work my ass off for you
every night.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
I'm gonna play hard. Yeah, I play for nothing. I
played for free. Yes.
Speaker 8 (06:53):
Mar Obie Toppins also locked up until the twenty seven
to twenty eight season.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
Oh, topping to McConnell four more years.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Yeah right, Uh, here's here's Tyree. Here's Tyree's Halliburton playing
through his injury.
Speaker 9 (07:10):
I just look at it as you know, I want
to be out there to compete with my brothers. You know,
these are guys that I'm willing to go to war with,
and we've had such a special year and we have
a special.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
Bond as a group.
Speaker 9 (07:21):
And uh, you know, I think I beat myself up
if I didn't give it a chance, you know, And
you know, I just wanted to be out there and fight.
And I had to have honest conversation with coach that
you know, if I didn't look like myself and you know,
was hurting the team, like sit me down, Like that's
obviously I want to be on the floor, but I
(07:43):
want to win, you know, more than anything.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
All Right.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
You know the run continues for him. Uh it wasn't great.
The over under was thirteen and a half for his
point total, he had fourteen, but he you know, it's
just enough to be out there sometimes that lift that
you give you team. I was watching him, you know,
even when the ball wasn't being swung his way. I
just wanted to see how involved he was and was
(08:08):
he going to be a detriment. Now, love that he played,
Love that he cared, and now you get a couple
of days to rest before Sunday night, and okay, see
he was trying to bring it to him. But I
thought that Rick Carlisle did a great job of positioning
Halliburton in a place where they couldn't really pick on
him and you know, do pick and rolls. Plus you
(08:31):
didn't really have to play in the fourth quarter. That's
great as well, because that was another thing when you
play and this is an injury that if this is
the regular season, he's missing games, not singular, he's missing games.
But if you're going to be out there, how long
are you out there? Because I don't want you sitting
down and then going back in, sitting down and going
back in trying to stay loose. I thought that was
(08:53):
really important. But that crowd energized them. They played great defense.
And now it goes back to Oklahoma City. Ok See,
they might look back on this game six and go,
we know, showed like what happened close them out. You've
been favored, big favorites every single game and you're now
(09:15):
a big favorite at home by eight and a half.
Here's Shay Gilgess Alexander on the dud they laid last night.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
The way I see it is, we suck tonight.
Speaker 9 (09:25):
We have to learn the lessons, and we have one
game for everything, for everything we've worked for, and so
do they, and the better team Sunday will win.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
Okay, yeah, but it certainly feels like momentums on the
Pacers side, and you got okce going back, we're supposed
to win. We're at home, and sometimes, I mean, that's
why it's so hard to win that fourth game. Now,
we normally don't go to game seven. I think this
is the first time since twenty sixteen most teams close out.
Speaker 2 (09:58):
They don't want to get to that game seven.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
And man, that fourth win in a seven game series
is so tough to come by, and we saw that
last night. All right, So you got a pull question
based off last night they're seating on who do you
like now going into game seven?
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Well?
Speaker 6 (10:13):
Yeah, yeah, I think we'll look at last night's loss.
Was like, how big was last night's loss? No big
deal or something they will regret forever, I believe is
the wording Paul used.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
Well, if you win on Sunday night, nobody remembers game six.
If you lose on Sunday night, they'll remember Game six.
We'll get to some phone calls coming up a little
bit later on. Jeff Tigue, who is a former NBA player.
I think he a high school coach in Indiana, and
he's got a great podcast Club five twenty. He tells
(10:48):
some stories. He'll join us coming up top of next hour.
Jim Gray is partnering with Tom Brady. They're doing something
that's really cool in Las Vegas at the Fountain Blue Hotel,
and I'll let Jim tell you about it, with all
the different memorabilia that they have, Hall of Excellence and
it's not just sports, yes to and it opens today. Okay,
(11:09):
that's nice. Good, all right, So Jim will join us
a little bit later on. Now, they do have Tom
Brady's Super Bowl rings there, but they got they have
so many different pieces of memorabilia, Ali boxing gloves, they
got gold medals, they got uh, let's see Academy awards.
I mean, there's such a long list of things that
they've accumulated there. But it's set up and when we
(11:33):
were there for the Super Bowl, they were already talking
about this and this announcement that they had and Jim's
been involved with this, Jim and his wife and Tom
Brady to bring all of these pieces of memorabilia there.
It's not just sports, but all of excellence. So Jim
will join us a little bit later on. And Tom
yamis he is the NBC News, He's the nightly news anchor.
(11:57):
He's coming here.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Just took over for Lester Hooled a few weeks.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
All right, and he's coming here to the man kid.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
He is He from thirty Rock all the way to Milford,
Connecticut to hang with you.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
That's pretty awesome, okay, Right, what happens if something happens
in the world and he's on his way here and
then he's got to go.
Speaker 7 (12:13):
Let's hope that doesn't happen, and that would be terrible
for all parties involved.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
But when do you know, like, at what point do
you go, Okay, oh, I gotta go, or somebody else
will cover that? Like I don't know who decides, Like
is there one person to go? All right, We're sending
him over, you know, to wherever, or we're gonna let
somebody else cover that. Because a moment's notice, you gotta
(12:38):
go any kind of disaster that happens. Can you have
a vacate What if you're having beers with your buddies
and then all of a sudden it's like, hey, something happened.
You got to go because you'd see Dan rather he'd
always there'd be a hurricane or tornado. Dan rather be
holding onto a light pole and holding on for dear life.
Speaker 5 (12:58):
Yeah, Pauline, this is a dumb question, and that I
really want to ask him. I'm gonna give it to
you guys. First, does he have approval of his own haircut?
Like can he just go out and get a buzz
cut this weekend? Or would Network have to approve.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
I'll probably lead with that.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
No, I'll probably have some other questions before we get
to that, But I'm going to guess that there's somebody
there to cut your hair far more often than we
get our haircut. When he sits down to get makeup,
then somebody will probably be working on a haircut. So
it never looks drastic. It's not like, oh my god,
(13:35):
you got a haircut. I mean, Bob Costas had the
same hair for he still does. It never looked like
he got a haircut? Yes, Tom, would you rather.
Speaker 7 (13:43):
Be a doctor on call? Has to be ready to
any moment to do an emergency surge of some sort.
We don't know exactly what you're getting into or they're
calling is and you're going to the next plane to
Bay Roots for Tom Yamas.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Well, I probably can't die or get injured if I'm
just doing surgery, So I would probably rather do that.
And if it's my specialty, this is what I do.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
That makes a lot of sense. It's a good answer.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
Thank you, Todd. Thank you such great questions. You know
we'll workshop this before he gets in, so we act
like we know. I mean, I'm supposed to be a
big time sports you know, anchor journalist too.
Speaker 7 (14:17):
What if he comes in with the crew cut, just
like Paulie says, say, wait, I don't know if you
can have that kind of you have to have a
certain kind of hair, dude.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
I don't think.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
I don't even think he's gonna come in with Okay,
does he come in like hey, I'm a I'm the
nightly news guy, or does he come in Remember when
Costas came in with a baseball hat on and jeans on.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
He had a Texas baseball hat.
Speaker 10 (14:36):
I go.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
It was jarring to me a little bit.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
Yeah, And he's drinking a beer down in the h
that it's crazy seven Seas restaurant.
Speaker 6 (14:47):
That was like a that was like a fever dream,
you know, like is this real? This is crazy?
Speaker 3 (14:52):
Bob's got a baseball head on, jeans on, and he's
drinking beer out of a.
Speaker 6 (14:56):
Bottle, crushing a beer at twelve thirty, having some wings seese.
Speaker 8 (15:00):
What yes, Marvin sports coat, T shirt, jeans, substitute teacher swag.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
Okay, I should have probably stepped up my wardrobe a
little bit. I got shorts on today, I got a
flannel shirt on. Underneath underneath this, I've got the Dan
Patrick T shirt that we made for Saint Patti's Day.
I've got my face on it. I don't know, he
might come in and bigfoot me a little bit.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Yes. Ton.
Speaker 7 (15:33):
Also, all the correspondence that he throws to all around
the world to do their report, they say his name,
then they do the report, then they have to say
his name again.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
That's just how it goes.
Speaker 7 (15:40):
So I wonder if you need to do that after
every question, Tom, and then you talk and me, you
gotta say Tom again to let him know that's the
alcy where he could start talking.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
It is true that they throw it out there. I
was like when they thank them, like that's their job,
you know. It's like thank you Jimmy Lipper in the
Middle East.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
Tom. Yeah, wait a minute, thank you so much. What's
your job?
Speaker 3 (16:07):
It's like the nice well I do say thank you, Todd,
so I'm I do the same thing.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Thank you, Todd, even though it's your job.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
All right.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
We're getting a settle on a pull question. Phone calls
are welcome eight seven to seven, three DP show. It's
a meat Friday. We got tire rack here. Mario's getting
his tires changed because he was the most valuable BRG.
Sun is out, morale is high. Who has it better
than we do? Take a break back after this.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
Game seven Sunday night, Okasee favored by eight and a
half the first Game seven in the NBA Finals since
twenty sixteen.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
Man, we need Game sevens.
Speaker 3 (16:59):
It's kind of disappointing how many road teams have won
a Game seven in the NBA Finals in the last
forty years, Pauline, forty years.
Speaker 5 (17:10):
I've got one the sixteen Cavaliers that was game seven
on the road. Before that, you got like seventy eight
Washington Bullets and seventy four Celtics. But of the last
forty five NBA Finals, twenty two have been closed out
on the road at five, six to seven games.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
Okay, okay, see we'll look back on that second quarter
and go what happened? Because Indiana just took off and
ever looked back, and then they got up by thirty,
and then I go, I think it's safe to turn
this game off. You know, there's certain there's a certain
point differential where you go, there's a chance it feels
like fifteen fifteen, sixteen points where you go, you know,
(17:54):
you never know, it got up to thirty, and I go,
Nepit said good night.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Yeah, Pullem.
Speaker 5 (17:59):
Remember we had idea years ago for an app for
your TV. Let's say you turn that game off and
if it became like a nine point game, your TV
just pops back on and the volumes full.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
So wherever you are, it wakes shop.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
All right, we'll get to phone calls coming up. EGE
seven to seven three DP show. Great for Haliburton to
have rest fourth quarter last night. Now you get today
Saturday and then most of Sunday as well, and hopefully
he's able to contribute. You know, he's had such a
great postseason, one of the great postseasons in you know
that we've had in the last twenty years, and I
(18:32):
hope he gets that opportunity to play well. No matter
what happens on Sunday, I hope he gets a chance
to play well. That's really emblematic of who he's been
in this postseason. And I was wondering who gets the
MVP if Indiana wins this series, because I'm going to
guess Pascal Siakam will probably get it. But if Obi
(18:53):
Toppin has another great game, if TJ McConnell, Griddy Gutty
first one in last one to leave, has a good game,
and then there's Haliburton, if he would somehow, I think
is over under is fifteen and a half. It was
thirteen and a half. Normally it's seventeen and a half.
And I'm just guessing, but I'm gonna guess that Shay
Gilis Alexander's over under is thirty three.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
And a half.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
I gotta find out if DraftKings sent that to me.
Let me see if I have that piece of paper.
Big reveal, Shay Gilgess Alexander over unders thirty three and
a half.
Speaker 8 (19:30):
Yes, martn, are we working on the most random finals
MVP of all time? Well, andre Ugudala is certainly up there.
I think he's a one seed, Okay. Everyone else is
normally an all timer.
Speaker 3 (19:43):
Yeah, it's kind of hard to win it in a
seven game series where you do a couple of cameos,
or you have one big game or two big games
coming off the bench.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (19:54):
Paul Pascal Siakam does not get the national credit he
deserves for a number of reasons. When Kawhi Leonard got
all the credit in eighteen nineteen when Toronto won, but
he was really important to that team. And then when
he left, Siakam took over. He had seasons of twenty
three points twenty four points with Toronto, but they didn't
go very far.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
He right now is.
Speaker 5 (20:14):
Plus three to ninety to win the MVP. If the
Pacers win Haliburn's plus twelve hundred, it's Siakam's to lose, okay,
and well, I was gonna save it. If Pascal Siakam
wins the MVP.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
Is he a Hall of Famer? Yep?
Speaker 5 (20:31):
Two titles, the whistle, three All Star appearances, I'd need it.
Speaker 8 (20:39):
Titles, Basketball Hall of Fame, Yes, absolutely.
Speaker 5 (20:47):
Marvin's saying that they have easier rules.
Speaker 8 (20:50):
Correct baseball and basketball. He's not in or baseball and football.
Excuse me, he's not in. Okay, basketball, he's in, all right.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
I'm not the gatekeeper, but I'm like, all right, okay,
you put this guy in, all right.
Speaker 8 (21:06):
He better get in the same year. Sonny Vacarl Well,
Sonny Vacaro. Okay, I got my work cut out for me.
Barry Melrose Hockey Hall of Fame, mel Kiper Pro Football
Hall of Fame, Sonny Vacaro the Basketball Hall of Fame?
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Is anybody else? I got to get into a hall
of fame here. Foreigner's in, right, Yes, they.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
Are, Hey, That one I didn't think was going to happen.
And when I talked to the lead singer of Foreigner,
Lou Graham, and he played locally here around the man Cave,
the Oyster Festival, And I said to my wife. I said, honey,
you know people here. Can I get backstage? I want
(21:47):
to talk to the lead singer of Foreigner and tell
Lou Graham that he should be in the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame. So all of a sudden, you know,
I meet somebody, and then meet somebody, and then all
of a sudden, the police officer goes, come on, we'll
take you back. And he was in, you know, just
like a I don't know, a trailer and I walk in.
He stands up and he goes, Royalty is here, and
(22:10):
I go, huh. I said, I just came back to
say that you guys should be in the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame. And he goes, it's it'll never
happen because they the band's been.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
That's right, And I.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
Went, you guys, I want you. I'm gonna get you
guys in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And
he goes, it's it'll never happen. And then all of
a sudden they got nominated and they went into the
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
But they should be in the rock and Roll Hall
of Fame. They got they had some hits.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
Man so mel Kiper Barry Melrose, and Sonny vccero should
be in the Hall of Fame. Anybody else that I
need to get into the Hall of Fame?
Speaker 5 (22:47):
Yes, Paul were checking, but I was going back to
what you said about the most random MVP. Yes, uh,
Pascal Siakam, I don't think would be it. He's got
three All Star appearances. I would have to go back
to Cedric Maxwell for the eighty one and Celtics. He
never made an All Star Game, never, but he got
an MVP above some really good players. A couple more.
(23:10):
How about Chauncey Billups O four. That's a bit random,
good career.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
Yeah, I don't think he that put him over the
top for his career, but he was really he was
a really good player.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
But you know when he first got into the NBA,
he wasn't a really good NBA player because then the
Celtics draft him, we see out of Colorado.
Speaker 4 (23:32):
They traded him a work a year.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Yes, and then it took him a while to find
his footing. But Chauncey Billups, he was a really good player.
Who else and any other I'm not going to say randoms.
Speaker 5 (23:45):
But you know when Kawhi Leonard got in twenty fourteen,
he was not the best player on the team. He
kind of broke out that series. Yeah, at the time,
he was a surprise.
Speaker 2 (23:55):
Yeah, yeah, that's fair.
Speaker 3 (23:58):
But I would say Andrew Andre Goodala is a number
one seed of he won the MVP.
Speaker 8 (24:05):
Yeah, Marvin by holding a Lebron to thirty eight nine
and seven.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Could have been forty nine and seven.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
He could have been there.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
I don't know, is there a Lebron stopper?
Speaker 3 (24:15):
You know they and maybe they stopped doing that when
poor Gerald Wilkins he's a Michael Jordan stopper, and I go, no, no, don't.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Do that to it.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
All you need to do is let Mike know that
that guy's supposed to stop you. Gerald Wilkins was not
nominee Wilkins.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
Yes, marm Like.
Speaker 8 (24:33):
When the Nick signed him, Knicks fan's oh, we got
the Jordan stopper. Michael was like, really, you know, I
always go back for Ruben Patterson because they were calling
the Kobe stopper and Kobe's head was about to explode
off his shoulders.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
Yeah, Michael's probably going, wait the Jordan stopper, Like, like
Eddie Jordan.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Is you're not stopping me.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
Stat of the Day brought to you by Panini America,
the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show. By
the way, went to dinner with a mutual friend. Everybody
knows this guy and went to dinner. Now, he has
a habit of always touching you whenever he's talking, and
it's one of my pet peeves and he can't help himself.
So he wanted to sit at the bar, and I go,
(25:17):
oh my god, because I said, hey, how about we
sit across from each other table and he goes, no, no, no,
I'm not sit at the bar. So I said, okay
right away. Boom, I said, John, we're not doing this tonight.
Then all of a sudden, oh this is this is
hold on, I got to call time out on you.
Speaker 5 (25:37):
We know this guy, you've known it for a long time. Yeah,
have you two spoken about this before, Yes, another time.
Speaker 2 (25:43):
Yes, we're not doing this tonight. We're not doing this tonight.
Speaker 5 (25:45):
So like Fritzy, he's been told and still does it.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
Yes, we go along and then we're having dinner and
then there's a there's a drive by where he grazes
me and I said, I'm not going to count that one,
and he does it to me again and I said, John,
the next time you do it, you're buying dinner. And
he goes, oh, okay, okay, okay, I'm sorry. I'm sorry,
(26:08):
I'm sorry, sorry, I'm gonna guess. Thirty seconds later, he
taps me. I said, he's going to be paying for dinner.
Get can I see the wine list here? We went
to this charity function boys and Girls Club, and he's
tapping me the whole time, and I go, John, no,
(26:31):
we're not doing this, and he goes, all right, my bad,
my bad, kept doing it, and I said, John, I'm
gonna leave.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
No, no, you can't leave. No, you can't leave. I said,
all right, then don't do it again.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
And then his wife stood between us so he wouldn't
keep tapping me.
Speaker 4 (26:48):
Oh drives me so awkward to have to bring that
up to somebody.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
Well there, yeah, you have yeah, And you didn't take
the hint either.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
I did not.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
He could not stop.
Speaker 4 (26:59):
He wasn't trying to you. He's got some kind of
problem that's touching.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
Yes, yes, like there was, And I said, John, at
one point I did of his rude. I said, John,
if you're interesting, you don't have to tap me on
the arm. And he goes, what does that mean? I go,
it feels like you're trying to get my attention because
you're telling me something that may be not interesting. And
I was like, I can't you know you're picking up
a beer and you're drinking a beer and he's banging
(27:22):
into you and like stop.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
AnyWho, Yes, Paul.
Speaker 5 (27:26):
I'm looking up the phobia. There's a phobia being touched,
which I don't think you necessarily have. I think you
just don't like them as called.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
No.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
No, I mean it just depends how you're touching.
Speaker 5 (27:35):
A fenophobia is fear of being touched. I cannot find
the diagnosed condition where you touch people almost like subconsciously often,
but they said it's a TecTile affliction where you cannot
help it and you're not aware you're doing it. According
to doctors at the Mayo Clinic.
Speaker 7 (27:51):
Of course, and guest Todd, what about close talkers or
close walkers where they're walking right on top of you,
almost tripping your baccent or they're just in your face
and your social distances being to compromise.
Speaker 4 (28:01):
Have you had that?
Speaker 2 (28:02):
Yeah, the dress.
Speaker 3 (28:02):
Yeah, the closed talker is bad. It is because you
and then you find yourself leaning back when somebody's talking
to you like they and they invade your space, that
one's tough.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
Yeah, pulling.
Speaker 5 (28:17):
I found a psychologist I'm not going to give the
name of the school where he says this affliction is
where the person who's doing the touching wants constant attention
and approval from the other person. Possibly that's the theory
behind it, Like they're trying to get your attention as
they're talking to you, but.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
It's only me and him. Yeah, like that right next
to each other.
Speaker 5 (28:36):
But clearly he can't stop it because he's aware of it.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Yeah, but he is going to continue to pay for
dinner every time we go.
Speaker 5 (28:43):
He tie his hands behind his back.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
I used to joke with Dick Vital that if I
made him put his hands in his pocket, he wouldn't
be able to talk because he needs his hands to talk.
And I said, just try it one ton and he
didn't even want to try it where he put his
hands in his pockets. Buddha and San Francisco leads us off.
Good morning, Buddha, what's on your mind today?
Speaker 2 (29:05):
O buddy?
Speaker 11 (29:07):
Happy to meet Friday Boys. Every day's game seven, Fritzy,
Let's go, Let's go. Yeah, two best words in sports
man Excited for Sunday, Dan, I have an Emmy Bass
limerick for you and the boys if I can share
that if I may. But first I have a real
quick story for you, Dan. We had a visitor at
(29:28):
the restaurant and unfortunately, Dan, next time you come to
the restaurant, you will be the second greatest shooter to
ever have step foot into that place. Because Steph and
Aisha came in for date night.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
I love it.
Speaker 11 (29:42):
It was pretty cool and day as well. Let you know,
you and I went to the table the same amount
of times, zero times.
Speaker 12 (29:49):
And on the way out.
Speaker 11 (29:51):
I you know, I shook I met Ayisha and Steph
and I shook their hands and I said to Steph,
I said, Steph, you know, it's wonderful having you pleasure,
pleasure to have you in the building. And I go, uh,
I'm gonna have to let I'm not to let DP know.
You know, I call him to Dan Patrick and I'm
gonna let him know. Yet you beat him to the restaurant.
Well done, son. And he looks at me and he
(30:11):
goes what he's like. I love that. He's like, we'll
definitely be back. So it was really really cool man.
It was a It was definitely a moment. So but
for my Limerick, here we go Fritzy The DP Show.
The DP Show aimed high wire to wire. Best daily
show was their desire. Emmy Judges said, no win or lose,
(30:40):
we celebrate, so with me Fridays fueling Emmy Fire, suck
ad NFL Live nicely.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
Hey, right, thank you, Buddha, No, Noboddy, that's good.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
Yeah, man, NFL, I didn't win it this past year.
It was they do. Oh yeah, it was NFL long. Yeah,
suck it out. You blocked it out? I did? I did?
Speaker 4 (31:05):
You forgot which time we lost?
Speaker 3 (31:07):
You're right I did, because I'm sitting with my wife
and I said, as soon as it's announced, we got
to go. And she goes, well, what if you win?
I said, we're not winning, but I want to be respectful.
And then you know, as soon as you heard, you know,
I'm listening to the word though, because then there's the
Dan Patrick Show when I hear ANNFL, let's go, and
(31:30):
then she goes, no, no, stay sit NFL Live. Then
all of a sudden, everybody went up there and I said, okay.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
Can we go?
Speaker 8 (31:37):
Now?
Speaker 3 (31:38):
She goes Okay, she goes, wouldn't you want people to
sit there? I said no, I would not care. I
don't care. If we win one of these days, everybody
can get up and leave right away. I don't care.
We'll still celebrate win or lose. We celebrate Todd.
Speaker 7 (31:53):
Just to reset, we talk all sports for three hours
as opposed to one sport for one hours. I want
to make sure that's is that accurate?
Speaker 2 (32:00):
But I'm not. You know what, Congratulations to them.
Speaker 3 (32:03):
We get three hours to come up with enough content
to win a sports EMM. They only have one hour
and they have to talk NFL speaking of which should
or sin? You know what I do think it warrants
a couple of minutes to talk about Shador Sanders. Okay,
(32:23):
not a hot take, A measured discussion about Shador Sanders
getting pulled over going one hundred miles an hour in
a sixty mile an HoriZone. So we'll talk about that.
Phone calls coming up, and our play of the day
is up next.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 5 (32:47):
Oh my God.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
The Play of the Day Letter Lives, I got it play.
This is the play of the day.
Speaker 4 (32:57):
Check this out.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
Threep out punched outside.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
Shepherd fires and the.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Who hit it?
Speaker 4 (33:02):
And that's going to count?
Speaker 1 (33:04):
He hit three as time expired.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
To lead is thirty.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
Pacers Radio network. Ben Shepherd got in on some of
the action, hitting a three pointer. The Pacers have received
thirty eight percent of their scoring in the NBA Finals
from their bench, the most of any team in the
last forty years. That's your play of the day. Play
of the Day brought to you by McGuire's new hybrid
(33:30):
ceramic wash and wax boost protection with extreme water beating technology.
The next time you wash your car truck, McGuire's reflect
your passion.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
The story with Shador Sanders.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
Normally a fifth round draft pick gets caught for speeding,
probably not going to make headlines, not going to make
Sports Center, but this is Shadoor Sanders high profile.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
Also factor in that you're a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (34:00):
You already have a target on your back, you slipped
in the draft, and all of a sudden you're driving
up one hundred and one miles an hour just past
midnight in a sixty mile an hour zone. Why because
this is a decision that you made. You could be
in a car accident. You chose to go one hundred
miles an hour. You had already had a previous citation
(34:23):
I think a month earlier for speeding at this position
as a quarterback, and you're with an organization that went
all out and brought into Sean Watson like the last
thing that you should be involved in. You know, somebody's
concerned about is you off the field, and now you
have that. You already are walking in and you're behind
(34:47):
because you were the fifth round draft. Why did you fall?
You don't need extra attention. If anything, you want just
football related attention. Don't bring any of this attention to
you because it doesn't reflec well on somebody that you
say as an organization, he might be our next quarterback,
and I've only talked about him as a football player.
(35:11):
And somebody who works with the Browns is a friend
of mine and said, by all accounts, he handles himself
in as a mature player. He knows his place. He's
a rookie, but he has some maturity there. Well he should.
He grew up in this culture. He knows what it's
like where everything is parsed when we're looking at what
(35:32):
you're saying and how you're acting everything. And we heard
the pre draft reports while rumors and then they became reports.
Just play football, that's all, and you can start in
the NFL. I truly believe he can. My friend with
the brown says he can be a starting quarterback. You
(35:55):
just don't want the media to have an excuse to
have moments like this. Be a professional. Act like a professional.
This is twice in the last month, one hundred miles
an hour. If you're a backup linebacker, a fifth round pick,
they may have already cut you. You got an opportunity.
(36:17):
You got an opportunity to prove all the doubters wrong.
Right now, the doubters are right. You've got to show maturity.
You didn't act that way during the pre draft. You
didn't act that way during interviews. You get to camp,
when you get on the football field, you know what
you're doing. But when you're the quarterback of a franchise
in the NFL, you're the face of the franchise. He
(36:39):
has not shown what he needs to show to be
that and that would be concerning. Now it might be
all it's just speeding, okay, and then it was speeding before. Okay,
At what point do you say, you know what, this
is habit for me, This isn't a coincidence. But and
you go one hundred miles an hour also impacts other
(37:02):
people who might be on the highway. Then, and you
got lucky that they give you a citation for two
hundred and fifty bucks. Uh, chalk it up. You can't
that position. You can't. You're treated differently. We treat our quarterbacks,
our starting quarterbacks differently in the NFL. But he was
(37:25):
going ninety one in a sixty five and then he
was going one oh one in a sixty And this
is in a span of twelve days.
Speaker 2 (37:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (37:35):
Seen, it's weird because part of me is like, it's
a speeding ticket. What are we freaking out about? Dude,
got a speeding ticket. For most people, just speeding ticket,
right right, right, yeah, right right?
Speaker 2 (37:46):
Yeah, for most people, it's speeding ticket. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (37:48):
Like if but you start looking at Jameis Winston got
a pretty bad speeding ticket too, But that becomes part
of a pattern of poor decisions, right that you're looking
at it. If it's Kirk Cousins or somebody or somebody
he doesn't. If Russell Wilson gets a speeding ticket, you're
like a look at Russ being a wild man. Huh,
you get him speeding. It's almost like a good thing
where you're like, look at it. In a span of
(38:09):
twelve days, you get two speeding tickets, ones for ninety
one miles an hour, ones for one oh one. It's
just different. You're treated differently, and you know people react differently.
But if you're Shadoor Sanders, just play football. Have somebody
else drive. You have somebody else or you can drive.
(38:31):
How about you go? How about you go sixty four
miles an hour? Don't even go the speed limit, go
sixty four.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
Miles an hour, because maybe you're going to turn into
be a really good football player. Maybe Aiden in Utah
Hi Aidan, what's on your mind today?
Speaker 10 (38:52):
Exit?
Speaker 2 (38:52):
How it going good? Bune?
Speaker 10 (38:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 12 (38:54):
Real quick? On Shador where I'm from out and you
saw if you're forty over, they take a car and
spend a night in jails. I think he did get lucky. Also,
Tyler Tlliburton has quickly become one of my favorite players.
I love watching him, I love his game.
Speaker 10 (39:09):
But I need you to get him in the man
cave and fix the shot because it's kind of what
I imagine Fritzy would shoot like and it just drives me nuts.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
Well, after the finals, maybe I can work with Tyres Aliburton.
You know, it's just another one of those jump shots
where it works for him.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
Is it perfect?
Speaker 3 (39:31):
No, But trying to change that, you know, with Lonzo Ball,
And I'd said, you know, I could help him because
you can't have it where it's a windshield wiper. You know,
Durant goes on the left side of his head over
but he keeps it up there and it's not a
lot of movement there.
Speaker 2 (39:48):
Lonzo Ball started all the way to the.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
Left and then came over to the right, and I thought,
that is a terrible looking shot for a dad who
was a basketball genius teaching him how to play BA.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
Let's get bone all right.
Speaker 3 (40:01):
One hour in the books, two more to go in
this Meet Friday Dan and The Dan out Stan Patrick Show.
