I was Sam has a Wayne's World hat on and
a skin tight IWA T shirt.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
I mean, would we expect anything else? I mean, O
dount though maybe Lorena and Moncia the party stars.
Speaker 1 (01:24):

After this big party, we're gonna have to start lying
about how long we've been doing this because we're still
the youngest in the game. Let's make that clear, all right, Yeah,
but it could get crazy. You never know who's gonna
stop by riches drinking. I mean apparently supposedly. But hey, guys,
thank you all for being here live and for everybody
who couldn't be here live.
Speaker 2 (01:57):

We'll bring the party. But thank you for listening wherever

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Thanks again to everybody at Fox Sports Radio and iHeart so.
Speaker 5 (02:06):
I want to start where we left off last night.
I meet you at the airport. You and our buddy
Shay who works at Fox Sports Radio. You sit at
the bar at the airport and I look at the screen,
I'm like, oh, yeah, NBA Finals, the Pacers force in
a game seven? Does that think Caliburton looked like the
g even though he really didn't do that much.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
Now, it was the whole Daniel Laruss is gonna fight,
laced them up, and I think just his presence alone
really sparked the team because they just wiped them out yesterday.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
They dominated that game.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
SGA didn't have a great game, and superstars always step up.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
I know that's the theory.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
That's the thought that when it comes down to a
game seven, whoever has the best player, a lot of
people say usually wins it. But the Pacers looked strong
yesterday and haliburton't even play that much, but he was impactful.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Yesterday.
Speaker 6 (02:50):
We talked about how the Pacers rarely lose back to
back games.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
Yeah, and with that crowd behind.
Speaker 6 (02:55):
Him and Holly coming out the way he did, and
we said he would probably be a facilitator, which he was.
That steal and that no look pass to Siakam was insane.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
It was a poster moment.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
Yeah, dude, awesome and by the way, the smoothest voice
in radio.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Let's give it up for Danny J. There is Dan.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
Producer Danny G on the mic, and again the phones
are open eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. What
I thought was interesting is that this is the first
game seven ten years, twenty sixteen, so it's been a
minute since we've seen in game seven in the NBA Finals.
So we get that Sunday night, and again we have
to wait so long.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
It's Friday, Rick Saturday Sunday.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
But you know what that could mean, a rest at
Halliburton and a real battle.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Dude.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
That's the plus side here too, because that gives him
more chance to heal up. Make sure the CAF is right.
I don't think he overextended. He played with the spark
and adrenaline. I think that rest benefits the Pacers moving forward,
even though it's away. So guys, your thoughts, let's open
it up, and you know, keep this whole game, in
this whole series in mind, because in a few minutes
(03:59):
we're gonna talk about growing rivalries. Yeah, because I think
even though it's not the greatest for ratings and there's
a lack of star power as people say, dude, we're
going to a game seven. So hey, if you're not
vibing it, maybe you're just old, maybe you're just not
feeling it.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
But I'm telling you, this has been a great series
so far.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
I know early to say it's a rivalry, but they
all start somewhere, right Like the Celtics Lakers rivalry started somewhere.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Every rivalry started somewhere.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
But I think the question could be not could very
well be can a new rivalry surpass an old one?
Because when you think back, think of your favorite team,
did they always have the same rival Big Mike?
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Who runs this place?
Speaker 1 (04:40):
Who Mike? He was talking about the Reds and Dodgers.
He was like, yeah, there was a Tollery rivalry at
one point.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
You know, old school.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Organizations, teams with history rivalries, they sort of dwindle and
fizzle after a while, And maybe we're seeing one grow here.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
Can it surpass? Like Rich said eight seven seven ninety
nine on.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Fox, because as a Yankees fan, everybody knows the biggest
rivalry is the Red Sox, but is it really the
biggest rivalry? I feel like it's grown in the past
few serieses, but that would be seer I, but.
Speaker 6 (05:12):
You know, there used to be a bigger rivalry between
your Yankees and my Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
I was just gonna say that though with the World
Series last year, with the interleague play recently, I was
at the game Rich, but that was like a late seventies,
early eighties East Coast, West Coast Dodgers Yankees, and it
took like a forty year hiatus. Yeah yea, but dude,
that one I feel is stronger than Yankees Red Sox.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
Again, that one is back.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
And I even think the Yankees Mets because of the
Mets stealing Soto and all the animosity there, and then
the Mets are trying to prove they're the bigger team
in New York.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
They're not the little brother team.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
That builds a big, bigger rivalry to me than Yankees
Red Sox. So yeah, I think we could be seeing
the start of something new here and something better. Well,
I think it can surpass Rich. Classic ones will always
be classic, but there's room for new.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
I think what happens is your team has a rival.
Speaker 5 (06:06):
When one of those teams suck, you have to find
the new rival, right, Like, I'm a Mets fan.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
When the Mets were sucking. Do you think the Braves
were like, Mitz, A're still our rivals.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
They're like, no, the Mets stinks.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
So how about this theory, If you don't have a rival,
you sort of suck because rivals push each other, and
if no one's pushing you, you're probably not that good.
Like you have to have someone after you, someone that
you hate. It's great for the ratings, great for drama,
great for the fandom, is great for pushing your team
to the next level.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
We say it all the time.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
My favorite example, I do all this stuff on the
History Channel as we jokingly talk about.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
He's History Boy. I'm History Boy.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Look out for me Sunday Nights, Hazardous History New Show.
But every Coca Cola needs their Pepsi, their Pepsi to
push them further. Every Muhammad Ali needs their Joe Fraser
to push them further. If you don't have a rivalry,
you're not bringing the best. That means no one cares
about you. It's kind of like, if you don't have haters,
then you're not that Yeah, if you're if you're in
the entertainment world and no one hates you, So ivories are.
Speaker 2 (07:06):
A good thing.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
And we need to honestly start embracing that. As sports fans,
we just love drama. Like, Okay, the biggest rivalry now
is that Dodgers pod.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
We're gonna get to that.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
But to back up your point before we get to
Dodgers Padres, because I think that's the hot story, right,
what makes the WNBA have a heartbeat for the first time?
And ever, let's be honest, it's Caitlyn Clark Angel Reese,
and it's people going after Kitlyn. Genuine heated rivalry, and
it seems like there's players that genuinely don't like each
other and that is what they need.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
The key word there is genuinely. And think about that.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
Fox Sports Radio Nation eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
Would you rather tune into a fight? A fight where
people are buddy chummy and they have this sort of
respect for each other.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
Yeah, that's great sportsmanship. But isn't it more intriguing when
they genuinely hate each.
Speaker 5 (07:52):
Other and there's a pre fight stare down, yeah, and
a press conference and the fighters are like, yo, I
hate that guy, Like I want so hard to tell
which ones are real though, Hey, because we've even heard some.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Of the boxers afterwards.
Speaker 6 (08:06):
Some of the events we've been to where they're like, yeah,
I was playing it up.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
I don't hate them now. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:11):
Sometimes as showmanship we get all that. But I'd rather
see some showmanship than nothing at all. Right, So again
we're Cavino Enrich live from Circa Stadium Swim celebrating the
show's history, bringing the fun to you. But we do
want to take phone calls. I want to give props
back at the studio. Perfet and Jay stew are on
the phones at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox
if you want to chime in, because the question, the
(08:33):
core of it based on the NBA Finals Game seven,
based on Dodgers Padres. They're hitting each other, this animosity.
We love the drama, we love the growing rivalry. Can
the new rivalry surpass the classics?
Speaker 2 (08:46):
I think it could.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
And I want to ask Jay Stu, because I know
he's a big Dodger, said like you, Jay Stu, thanks
for hanging brother.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Do you hello, everybody?
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Do you look at this Padres Dodgers hitting each other,
bench is clearing, Dave Roberts, pushing people.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
This is first of all.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Great for baseball, but do you look at the Dodgers
Padres as now the hottest rivalry in Major League based.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
Do you know what.
Speaker 7 (09:07):
Just earlier this week, we had NFL Draft analyst Daniel
Jeremiah on the Doug Gottlieb Show, and I think he
put it perfectly. I think it's the best matchup in
baseball right now.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Yea.
Speaker 7 (09:19):
He was very careful not to use the word rivalry
because we have a rival up north in San Francisco
that goes back one hundred and thirty years, and I
consider just one rivalry per team, so I can't.
Speaker 1 (09:34):
So you're saying great match eye because there's a younger
generation that sports that everything is always marketing too, so
that old school rivalry may sit in our hearts, but
young people don't know deadlely squat about it, so what
they see.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Is all they know.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
So if a young person's tuning in to see the
Dodgers Padres and they're seeing the benches clear, that's what
gets the headlines. And we need to embrace it and
honestly just admit that we love this stuff.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
Yeah this weekend. By the way, you know, I'm always
going to bring it back to the Mets.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
When you think Mets, they're tied right now, same exact
record as the Phillies, and they have a three game
set that starts today. Do you look at the Mets
Phillies as a rivalry or do you think Mets braves
or do you think Braves Phillies? Like, how do you
look at it? Because I look at it like again,
almost the opposite of what Jay Stue said. But I
love his point because it makes you think. I think
there's room for plenty. Do you have one person you
(10:23):
hate or do you have multiple? So let's say the Orioles,
so you just hate a little more. So let's say
the Orioles are good for five years, five six years,
and the Yankees and Orioles are battling. Do the Orioles
sort of step in if the socks are stinking at
that time?
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Yes, I think it.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Goes through cycles, It goes through phases. I'm trying to
think you're Mets tho who's the biggest one? Because I
would say Mets. I'd see Mets Phillies.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
Believe it or not.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
I don't know why that's that's the one. I think.
Do you think Mets Phillies or do you think braves?
Speaker 6 (10:49):
It has a tough one, since I didn't grow up
with those rivalries or rivalry, I'm not sure. But as
far as the West Coast goes, as far as what
Jay Stu is saying, I kind of agree that the
Padres would like to be the giants. They'd like to
take their place as the Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
Right.
Speaker 6 (11:07):
This all started with those old white rappers Caveno likes
to joke about. Remember what was their rap that they
were doing on morning show?
Speaker 2 (11:14):
T Woods it.
Speaker 7 (11:18):
Media?
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Yeah, and we're trying to hype up the Padres.
Speaker 8 (11:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (11:21):
And then there were parades through the streets because they
made it to the playoffs, remember, and then it's.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
Been this heated thing, especially.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
Fast Wood's it.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
Yes, social media does help build those rivalries and fan
bases and people love it matter so that.
Speaker 6 (11:37):
And I think that's the core of the argument. To
count as a rivalry doesn't have to go back X
amount of years.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
And ask yourself this, think of all your teams and
all your sports.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Danny, you're big Raiders fan? Is it chiefs.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
In our division? Yes?
Speaker 2 (11:53):
Like all right, I'm a Niners fan? Is it?
Speaker 5 (11:54):
Am I going to always be like yo, Damn Bayer,
your Seahawks, My Niners? Or do you say Niners cowboys
because of they his Like, I just feel like, give
me those.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Making the point that it could change.
Speaker 1 (12:05):
It could change because generations changed, teams change divisions. Sometimes
sometimes that teams no longer in the divisions.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
And again I feel like, like the Bears, Packers, that's always
going to be right. I mean, it's the class.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
Cardinals Cubs will always be a rivalry Red Sox Yankees.
But I think there's something that pop up once in
a while because of some bad blood.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
And I know the Giants are playing great baseball.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
But right now, even as a guy that doesn't care
about the n O West, I am glued to Dodgers, Pods.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
Dodgers Potteris.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
But keep in mind that the Giants just got that
Dev's move. Posey's talking a lot of smack. Dever is
gonna bring a lot more action to that rivalry. So look,
I think there's room for plenty of them. Your calls,
your thoughts, and on a side note, on a side note,
by the way, my dad is here, let's give it
up the big seat. Let's give it up to my parents.
(12:55):
My parents are at this party stadium swim kissing as
I gotta say, it is like a weird dream to
see your parents pull side in Vegas. There's like butt
cheeks out and my parents hanging out.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
It's so weird.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
What's taking out more?
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Your parents are budget well, you know what, it's like
people watching in Vegas, right, and then you see that
and you see your family. It's sort of a weird contrast,
you know. But hey, we're here celebrating and we're happy
to be here with you. But the question at hand
is when Dave Roberts puts in a rookie pitcher, right,
because Danny g and I were sort of debating this.
His whole thing is like you think I'm gonna have
(13:30):
him throw a tattis, Yeah, I'm saying yes. I think
sometimes a manager says, hey, rookie, you want to earn
your place on this team. You want to show us
that you belong. You want to You see his reaction.
Maybe that's good acting. You want to win over, you
want to win over your teammates. Hit the guy, And
(13:52):
it's almost like a Johnny Lawrence creased sort of things
like what do you mean hit the guy?
Speaker 2 (13:55):
Like take him out? I think that's intentional.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
I think you tell the young player to earn his
place on the team by hitting the.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Star with that old school baseball And why not.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Then, because I think if you want to show that
you belong and you got your team's back as the
young guy, it's like being initiated in a gang, like
you got to prove yourself. And I think by hitting
tattists it was intentional. I'm gonna take you back. That's
why I love the drama. I'm gonna take you back
to the nineties when Robin Ventura was told by his team,
if Nolan Ryan hits you, you charge, and remember Nolan
(14:30):
Ryan was ready. Robin Ventura has said since, like I reluctantly,
I did not want to charge and fight Nolan Ryan,
but to earn the respect. At the time, Nolan Ryan
was a you know, forty years old and you know
Robin Ventura was a young dude in baseball.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
But he had to do.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
It all right, So your thoughts can new rivalries surpass
the classics?
Speaker 2 (14:52):
Is their room for both those two says, hey, just one.
You gotta have one hated enemy.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
And do you think that was an intentional being yesterday
to send a message. I really believe the more I
think about it, it was, and David Roberts, of course
is gonna say why would I do that? And when
we see these highlights, we're here in Vegas too, schmoozing
and boozing. When you see these things happening, it's so
great for sports. And that's why the WNBA needs to
also just lean into that every chance that we talked
(15:19):
about the other day. I know it's ugly and his
fast sportsmanship, but it's great. Every Caitlyn Clark, you know,
I poke or push to the floor is just good
for the WNBA.
Speaker 6 (15:29):
I was at Lax at my terminal and the center bar.
What had the Dodgers game on a couple of screens,
and you should have seen all of the LA Dodgers
fans going nuts. Yeah, no doubt during this game. It's
a great rivalry.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
On a side note, seriously, I just got a piggyback
with any g said there's nothing more exciting than when
the bench is clear. I know, it's like ninety percent
of the time is corny and it ends up with
just a little smack talk like.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Oh yeah, yeah, oh yeah yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
Have you seen some of the fan footage from like
the first few rows. Yeah, dude, when you see people
come running off, You're like, oh again. Most of the
time it's anti climactic, but it still gets the adrenaline. Look,
Dave Roberts was saying, I'm gonna f you up in
the tunnels. Yeah, Dave Roberts was that he wanted a
fight last night. So your thoughts on rivalries, start thinking
about it. Fox Sports Radio Nation, you heard all angles here.
(16:20):
What about the growing Dodgers padres, the growing OKC Pacers rivalry.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
What are your thoughts on these things?
Speaker 1 (16:29):
And we're gonna play a game too, so start getting ready.
It's a little twist. You know how we do Chipotle
worker or w NBA player. We're putting a little twist
on that today, just our way of bringing the fun
and party from Vegas to you.
Speaker 2 (16:42):
We want to give you.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
Some giveaways because we're giving away a lot of stuff
here on site, but everybody hanging out in their car
at work getting ready for the weekend. Juneteenth weekend, the
first official weekend of the summer.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
This is our kickoff. We want to give away Swiggy
and some prizes. So stick around.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
We'll tell you when to call if you want to
play our new game today. I don't know what's growing
more the Padres Dodgers' rivalry or the line of people
wanted to take a photo with your dad? Oh my,
have you seen everyone wants to take a selfie with
big steam.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Larious, it's so weird. Well, hey, we're in Vegas. If
you're in the area.
Speaker 5 (17:15):
Hey, I know Vegas is one of our big affiliates. Hey,
we're at circa pool party. Let them know you're here
for us.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
We get there's like hundreds of people hanging out by
the broadcast booth, so come hang. Oh and if you
could just make it tonight, we'll be rooftop tonight. So yeah,
we're here all weekend and if not this time, next time.
But I want to hear from you, guys, your thoughts
on rivalries. We'll get ready for this game. Kd's in
the news, and I got a bone to pick with Rich.
I have a rivalry with Rich that I want to
(17:40):
talk about in address.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
It just gets heads up possessed, all right, So we'll
do that. But we are live, yes, Vegas. Let's hear you.
Let's hear from my dad. Who's here? My mom? Look
at she's hugging man. Look at that my mom. Hey, guys,
Thank you, guys for hanging out. We got more Cavino
and Rich on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (17:58):

place is impressive. If you want to watch a game
and do things big. Can you imagine march madness here?
Speaker 3 (18:27):
Rich.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
I hope this is the first of many events. And
if you're listening at work at the office on your
way home, you know we'll do it again.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
You gotta come. What up? Iowa Sam? You guys?
Speaker 5 (18:39):
So, I wanted to ask Sam because he's been to
a covinon Rich event, But this is a party.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
I would say, I feel like you're working the room.
You have a fun or what.
Speaker 6 (18:46):
I am having a great time and I'm working in
the room and I'm losing my voice like pretty much
all you guys here.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
Yeah, And he's running around so much. I think he's
losing weight. I am losing weight. I'm using weight. You're yeah,
you're just sweating.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
We love having you bro oh, this has been fantastic
and I am on the liquid diet right now. So
wait behind the scenes for people that have been following
Fox Sports Radio for years, Iowa, Sam's a party star,
Monsey La Rena, and of course Danny G's holding it
down in the meantime, he's here producing Cavino and Rich
and back at the studio Jay stew and Profet and
thank you guys again for hanging out with the Now
(19:20):
it's time, Rich, Yes, it is time. It's time for
the ti Iraq Play of the day. It was all
pacers last night. It was all pacers last night.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
Don't worry.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
Dev Hart was live to shoot, can't clear the shot
up top, Siakam beats the shot clock, delivers a.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Three shot, ready to fish it just waiting to receive
that pass. Just beautiful execution. Lets it go well. You
can hardly ask for a.
Speaker 6 (19:51):
Better performance, particularly given the fact that if you didn't
play well, your season would have ended.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
I'm jd this team that in case you didn't though
the NBA Finals Game seven and they still have an
opportunity to win a championship.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
How cool is that?
Speaker 5 (20:09):
Well, as Danny G and Dan Bayer said, yesterday. Hey,
we're gonna get a Game seven on Sunday. That's courtesy
of the Pacers Radio Network, and that's our Tiract play
of the Day. For over forty years, our friends at
Tyrak have been helping customers find the right tires for how,
what and where they drive.
Speaker 2 (20:23):
Ship Fast and free back by.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Free Road has a protection convenient mobile tire installation options.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
Tiraq dot com the way tire buying should be.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
Caliburton lifted the spirits, set the tone, and the Pacers dominated.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
We have a Game seven.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
And we reboll the Bennett, you know, Haliburton, you know,
grabbing the old Huevos and saying I'm playing. Even though
they were able to use him in a limited way,
he looked good.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
It just showed that he was in it to win it.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
And I think that message alone sent set the message
to the team and everyone.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
That, like the Pacers are not they're not.
Speaker 1 (20:56):
Just crawling, you know, like not laying down, not letting
this get away from then you know what, we have
a lot of people on hold still rich.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
Yeah, let's do it. Let's get Jay stew back on
the phone.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Sky's eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox Tony and Virginia,
Jesse and Indiana, Jay and Kentucky. Let's do Let's get
to the phone calls now the most interactive show on radio,
Live from Vegas. Do these new rivalries get you pumped up?
Can they surpass the old ones?
Speaker 2 (21:18):
What do you think? What's up? Tony in Virginia? How
are you, Bud?
Speaker 8 (21:21):
Hey? I'm well again? Thank you, fellas. Sometimes the best
rivalries are between cities. I was born and raised in Baltimore,
and the Orioles loss to the Pirates twice in the
World Series. The Steelers knocked out the colt in the seventies.
That carried on to the Ravens and Steelers, and I
still think raven Steelers the best rivalry in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
That's a damn good rivalry.
Speaker 5 (21:42):
So yeah, sometimes it is just the city, and you
end up hating a city for that reason.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
YEA, for I love that.
Speaker 7 (21:47):
I do.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
I don't like the ugly side of it when you're
just a fan trying to go to a game, But
when the teams don't like.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Each other and you know you don't have I love it.
We live in La now. I grew up in New York.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Everything about Philadelphia is hateable to most right, right. I mean,
if you're a New Yorker, you like all the Eagles,
off the Phillies, off the Flyers, oh the Sixers. Like
everything about Philadelphia to a New Yorker stinks and that's
the best part about it.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
Let's go to Jesse in Indiana.
Speaker 5 (22:14):
Jesse, you got to be fired up, man, you got
a game seven on Sunday night.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
Oh yeah, it's great to be here in Indiana. And
mine kind of goes with the pace because I got
two for you once. The Pacers, it's a new one
though we've seen it two years in a row. Pacers, Nick,
I mean name, I mean just the amount of aggression
you see between each of those teams is they're going
to try and play either in the finals like this year,
(22:39):
or to play the go and play the Celtics. You know,
it's a good point.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
It's a double doozy because he kept Halliburton and the
Pacers kept that. Pacers Nick's rivalry line I think by
Haliburty by Haliburton paint tribute to Reggie Miller and doing
the choke thing. It was so it was a way
of doubling down on like, hey, remember our rivalry.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
It's back. Remember that luckiest shot we've ever seen of
all time? Yeah, I think.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
Yeah, they're doing a great job of just stirring it up.
Great call, man, Thank you guys for hanging out with us.
We'll take more phone calls eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox Now we sort of referenced it before. We're
gonna give away prizes. We're gonna play some games. But
I have a lame question to ask. Do you have
to coordinate with your buds when you're going to parties
(23:24):
or events?
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (23:24):
Because I wore a black tank top, thinking what's the
chances of Kavina wearing a black shirt.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
He's wearing a black sleeper shirt. I'm wearing it look
like like a music But it happened so often and
so many times that it has to be addressed, like
as buds and boys, do you have to It sounds
like it's a girl thing or a woman thing, But
do buddies have to coordinate these things to not look
like fools? We look like two fools right now. We're
in the same outfit. O. You guys are fine. No, Fred, No,
(23:51):
it's not okay. You two look like you're part of
some show. Yeah, it looks like advertised.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
It looks like I coordinated that, and that's not at.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
All like you're about to dance on rocket. We did.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
We did a speaking engagement for iHeart in Chicago. We
both showed up with a black T shirt and like
a green like jacket, same exact I look.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
I looked at him like, what are we doing? Company now?
So well your thoughts let us know.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
Plus we got games to play and we talk NFL
live from Vegas Live from Circa Downtown.
Speaker 2 (24:22):

Speaker 1 (24:55):

some prizes, talk, some NFL, NBA, you name it, we

Speaker 2 (25:46):
We have a big party tonight.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
At the Legacy Lounge Troo Top fireworks. Everyone's dressing up,
having fun. And then I heard there's gonna be a
you know how instead of fireworks, now they use drones.
Speaker 2 (26:00):
They're gonna make one of your face nice. Is that true? Pitching?
Pitching like Fernando Valenz, Yes, exactly. I love that.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
So tomorrow, if you follow us on Patreon two, we're
doing a very special Saturday broadcast from Atomic Golf and
another party here at Circa after that. So again it's
a pleasure bringing the fun to you. I'm Steve Covino.
That is Rich Davis and Prefet and Jay Stewart back
at the studios eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
We're gonna get to weekend hobnobbing. What you need to
(26:28):
watch this weekend, the first official weekend Summer Weekend Extravaganza.
Now you gotta took a little NFL too.
Speaker 5 (26:37):
Now, Yahoo's Sports This, which is great, put out their
top ten quarterbacks headed.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Into the twenty twenty five season. Now listen Cavino night.
Speaker 5 (26:45):
Before we worked mostly in sports now, we used to
work for Maxim, Memember magazines back in the day, Member magazines,
Print Media, Rose, and I remember every year they would
come out with like the Maxim Hot one hundred and
make a list a lot of times just to upset
people and get them talking.
Speaker 2 (27:04):
But right's the thing.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
You don't want it to seem so obvious, right, Like
there's a there's an art form to it.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
But you're right.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
Lists are created to get people to speculate, to get
people to talk so it can go viral.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
I remember you and I it feels a little obvious.
Speaker 1 (27:17):
You and I back in the two thousands, it would
be like and the number one girl Lindsey Low and
you're like more than Megan Fox, Like you know you
would debate any list that's put out, But yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
Who puts out the top ten quarterbacks?
Speaker 1 (27:28):
And all that does is get people to immediately say
who doesn't belong and who did they screw over?
Speaker 2 (27:35):
Charles McDonald of IOH.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
Yeah, he also caused a lot of controversy, has people
apparently raging, raging, raging about this list.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
So I'm gonna count it down again.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Charles McDonald's top ten quarterbacks entering the twenty twenty five
season and twenty to Yahoo Sport. I think you shouldn't
do it Spider Harrison Seacrest style. I think you should
start at number one because I think think one, two, three, four,
five is sort of where it's like okay, I get it, okay,
And I think the bottom is where it's like WHOA.
So in at number one, you really can't debate it.
(28:11):
Patrick Mahomes better believe it.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
No surprise. I'm honored.
Speaker 9 (28:16):
But again it's obvious, of course, number one, the fans,
number one in life, number one, So I.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Mean He's arguably the biggest winner of this generation.
Speaker 9 (28:30):
I'd like to think my parents, not so much my father,
but uh or your brother or my brother, but thank
you for the honor and uh yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Number one so Mahomes obvious number two, Lamar Jackson, and
you know what, can't debate it. It's you could say
Josh Allen, but he's right there at number three, so
you interchange him.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
Some would say Alan, some would say you know Brown.
Number four.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
Again, really can't debate that either. I think now is
where it starts to be, like, huh, it's a good one,
but I don't I wouldn't put him above anyone else
on the top three.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Danny G.
Speaker 5 (29:00):
Would you also agree the top four sort of set
in Mahomes, Jackson, Allen Burrough, Like it would be hard
to argue not those four.
Speaker 6 (29:07):
Yeah, people would maybe interchange those four, but those would
be the four.
Speaker 5 (29:10):
Keep in mind to this is entering the season, right Yeah,
some might totally change that order, but I think I
hate the mount Rushmore term. But right now you would
say Mahomes, Jackson, Allen Burrough in whatever order you choose,
those are year four.
Speaker 6 (29:23):
And because of last season, I would have Jalen Hurts
at five, maybe at four.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Well Herbert is at number five? Justin Herbert at five?
Huh huh, now here comes to Hunts.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
Okay, well, the hunt is because he hasn't won a
meaningful game, and last you're in a meaningful game, I believe.
Speaker 5 (29:41):
But was like no, Tuddy's five picks. I'm just guessing
it was something like.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
Charger has made any money, moves nothing that I can
really think about, I mean, stands out Herbert. I think
Herbert's one of those guys that he's been in the
league long enough now where the whole like, yo, he's
gonna be right.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
It better start happening. Okay. Number six Matt Stafford won
a Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
He's you know, older but getting long in the tooth
as old people say, but really can't argue with that
much ja the tooth. Number seven Dak Prescott, who recently
said that he has to win.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
He needs to win.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
His existence depends on it. Smith, your boy, Gino Gino Smith.
Number eight, Are you out of your mind?
Speaker 6 (30:32):
He's with Dak in my opinion where they're outside the
top ten looking in.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
So the Raiders Gino Smith number eight again, new team
twenty twenty five. But hey, do I downplay how good
he is?
Speaker 2 (30:46):
No, he's good.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
But number eight Love, number nine Green Bay Packers. I'd
be like, loves the top ten.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
And CJ. Stroud, great young quarterback in at number ten.
Speaker 1 (30:59):
That's the top ten NFL quarterbacks entering the twenty twenty
five season. Again according to Charles McDonald, his farm and
everybody at yeahoo, all right, so let's all agree Love
is a top ten. You could say CJ. Stroud's the
top ten.
Speaker 5 (31:16):
I think that the argument is, and you're gonna put
Herbert in the top ten just based on still the
potential even though like eventually the potential's gotta calculate.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
I understand. I'm just saying this for conversation's sake. I
can't say that I don't understand. But who won the
Super Bowl last year? Because that's where everyone's gonna go to.
Speaker 6 (31:32):
Would you have CJ. Stroud over Jaden Daniels?
Speaker 1 (31:35):
I had Jayden? Here's who I think. Here's what you
gotta do. You gotta start going through it. And when
you have Geno Smith over like a Jalen Hurts, all right,
so this is what you do? You could you could
debate his skill level or what he brings to a team.
But the bottom line is he won, and he wins.
You gotta go through to the divisions. I haven't been drinking.
Speaker 5 (31:56):
You have to go through the divisions and legend and
start really analyzing, like, all right, who sort of got
left out here? And blaringly go to the NFC East
and you say, Jalen Hurts and Jayden Daniels.
Speaker 6 (32:08):
Yeah right, so yeah they both should Hurts and Daniels
on the list.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
Take away Dak and Gino and put in Hurts and Daniels, right,
and then that's no disrespect?
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Is how do you leave them off?
Speaker 1 (32:20):
Dak Gino, goodbye, Hello Hurts and Daniels.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
And I'm gonna give you one more.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
I say, see Lada, Matthew Stafford, Hello, Brock Purty.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
Oh that's a controversial one. Did you just did you
put me?
Speaker 8 (32:33):
No?
Speaker 1 (32:34):
Well, I mean keep in mind, if you're new to
Fox Sports Radio, Covino and Rich, I don't blame you
for standing up for your guy. Rich is a diehard
forty nine ers guy and does his records prove.
Speaker 3 (32:44):
He's on the boat with Dak and Gino.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
So yeah, I don't put Rodgers on this list.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
No, okay, hey, you know what, it's interesting that we
live in a time now where he's still playing and
not on this list, right, all right, So look at
the other quarterbacks. You you're not gonna go Anthony Richardson,
too young, unproven. I'm thinking of other Just go through
the divisions. Uh, Trevor Lawrence is you know under delivered
so far?
Speaker 2 (33:09):
Yeah, hasn't been the guy that he was supposed to be.
I'm shocked that they put Gito on this list.
Speaker 5 (33:14):
You know, you start going division Division Night, Minnesota, JJ
McCarthy and then you had before he went, before he
got traded.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
You aren't gonna put.
Speaker 5 (33:25):
Trying to think of who you would who you're leaving
out here.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
No, I think it's I'm not gonna put Darnold on this.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
So people missing r Jayden Daniels and hurts So and
Brock Party And he says, Brock Party, I'm not gonna
hate on your party has been to a super Bowl,
an NFC champions which say game that's the most.
Speaker 6 (33:42):
Debate weapons for him, because this is also a projection that's.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
Exactly forty nineers are gonna win thirteen games this year.
Speaker 5 (33:50):
They have the weakest ass schedule you've ever seen, and
they're gonna go yeah, and they're gonna go twelve and
five minimum because they play bottom feeders.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
They have the easiest percentage schedule in like a decade.
Speaker 6 (34:00):
So it's not because Brock Party is gonna put the
whole team on his back.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
He paid him like he's capable of maybe doing it.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
We set this up explaining how lists work, and we
know from experience, dude, they're designed to make everyone argue, right,
So is this clearly designed? Is this so obviously designed
to get us to speculate and debate and scratch our
noggins like this guy can't be serious?
Speaker 2 (34:25):
Or do you buy into it?
Speaker 1 (34:26):
Do you believe that Jalen Hurts isn't a top ten
or Jaden Daniels?
Speaker 2 (34:29):
Do you believe that Brock Party shouldn't be on the list.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
Let's chop it up by from Vegas bringing the Party
to you eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox Chase Stu.
If you have thoughts on you know, chime in. Let's
get interact, let me let me hit y. Hey, dude,
we have a whole slew of people here partying. Let's
get some drunken opinions. Yeah, let's get the drunkards of
Las Vegas.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
Why do you throw the mic in the pool?
Speaker 1 (34:50):
Let me go through the NFC first, real quick, just
to go through it all right. Jalen Hurts, we said,
you know, should be on this. Jaden Daniels, Yes, I
should be. I mean he won the Super Bowl, Dak shouldn't.
The Giants not factor. Jared Goff, No one brought him up.
That's an interesting one. I like that one better than
Brock Perdy maybe.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
And what he meant to Detroit, Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
We're not going there. Jordan Love should be on it.
Caleb Williams still has work to do.
Speaker 5 (35:17):
Maybe in a year from now he's on the list,
but right now we agree, not top ten yet for
Kayleb Williams.
Speaker 2 (35:24):
Not there yet right now.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
But you know, fun and still I love I love Baker,
not on the list. Michael Pennix Junior love him.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
Not on the list.
Speaker 1 (35:32):
I love Baker, but yeah, he doesn't belong on the list.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
He's probably he's just outside the top ten. Tyler Murray,
you know he's middle of the path.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
You know, he's eighteen.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
Yeah, so I mean I think the blaring omissions are
Hurts Daniels and you could say Goff or party. I'm
shocked that and Danny no disrespect. Gino Smith is not
a top ten quarterback.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
You think he is.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
Speak on his ability to throw on the run and
how he just.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
Well in their times.
Speaker 6 (36:01):
I think McDonald is projecting, obviously here for what he
thinks might happen in now. If what we know about
Geno Smith comes true next this coming season, he's a
great play action quarterback.
Speaker 3 (36:15):
If Ashton Genty lives up to all the hype, yeah
that's gorue. It's going to give Geno Smith a lot
of opportunities. That doesn't make about.
Speaker 6 (36:23):
Top ten, but he could do a lot better than
what some people are thinking.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
Just right off, and keep in mind Danny G's the
resident Raiders fan. Although I do agree with what he's saying,
but I did.
Speaker 6 (36:32):
Say right off the bat, I don't see him as
a top ten quarterback.
Speaker 5 (36:34):
I mean, if it's a Homer conversation, let's go to
profet in the studio. You're a Lions guy in your
mind is like, come on, dude, Goff's top ten.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
Are you thinking? No, he's not.
Speaker 10 (36:44):
This is a really fascinating one because I think the
reputation of golf has been well, it's about the offensive
line giving him helping the weapons. But seeing him close,
I think I can make the argument for him. But
the guy I want to make an argument for isn't.
Nobody's mentioned him yet. The guy I'm going to go
to bad for his Baker Mayfield. He's top ten my mind.
I don't know there's anyone who's better in the fourth
quarter than him.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
We all like him.
Speaker 1 (37:04):
I like how he gets the team behind him, his
his toughness, his grittiness, how he plays to win, just
seems to never give up.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
I love everything about the guy and what he means
to the team. But you know what, I don't know
who I would take off for him. Interesting love, Okay,
And I can't really argue that I like.
Speaker 10 (37:22):
Mayfield has had some real high points. I know the
advanced stats like him, but he has made every time
he's been a big position. He has made some back
baking breaking the awful throws that just stick with you
no matter And.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
The last thing image I have of Baker Mayfield is
him like carrying four.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
Players on his back like Caroland. People remember that. Yes.
Speaker 6 (37:42):
In the comments of this Yahoo Sports article, It's funny
because the two quarterbacks that most of the football fans
are arguing for in there are Baker Mayfield and of
course the Eagles champion, So.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
Good for Baker.
Speaker 6 (37:57):
Jalen Hurts should be up at five. I think could
Baker Mayfield should be at ten.
Speaker 1 (38:01):
You know what's an interesting thought, guys, is that I'm
going to compare it to when I make the lineup
for my kids baseball team.
Speaker 2 (38:08):
There's twelve kids.
Speaker 5 (38:10):
I don't want to bet any kid twelve because that
just sort of stinks, right, Like, you know what, Hey,
you know, little Dylan, you're betting eleventh, and hey, little.
Speaker 1 (38:18):
Easton, you're betting twelfth. But someone's at the bottom. There's
thirty two NFL teams.
Speaker 5 (38:23):
There's a bottom essentially, if you want to break it
into top ten, middle ten, bottom ten. If we're trying
to make, you know, an argument for everyone, then who's
bottom ten?
Speaker 10 (38:32):
Well, I mean we were starting for the Browns is
absolutely bottom ten.
Speaker 1 (38:36):
Tommy DeVito, Yeah, I'm saying he gutlets I.
Speaker 5 (38:39):
Know, starting, but he's saying, like, is Russell Wilson bottom
ten until they go with Jackson dark?
Speaker 2 (38:43):
Like someone's got to be bottom ten?
Speaker 6 (38:45):
Yeah, well, a lot of the youngsters, like JJ McCarthy
until we find out who he is in the end.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
Tyler Murray's bottom ten. And it's not all their fall either.
A lot of these teams are just bunk all around.
Speaker 5 (38:55):
So are you saying to Michael Pennix Junior right now
is bottom ten and away?
Speaker 6 (39:00):
The other day I saw a different someone's outlet put
bo Nicks at number ten?
Speaker 2 (39:04):
Yeah, both nobody's even can tell you.
Speaker 1 (39:06):
Yeah, you gotta really think we were naming all these
people someone's bottom ten.
Speaker 2 (39:11):
We're saying top ten.
Speaker 1 (39:12):
We're making an argument for these guys. It's the reality
of it, right.
Speaker 5 (39:15):
It's like if you go to a pageant and there's
fifty smoking hot girls, someone's the fifty hot, the fiftieth hottest,
even though you're like, how is that possible? They're all hot,
These are all NFL quarterbacks, But someone's the stinkiest of
the guy making forty million dollars and you wonder who
is that? Who's in the bottom tier because not all
these guys are top ten.
Speaker 10 (39:34):
The problem is for a lot of it, it's just
teams that have to be bottom tier because in the
middle of the season, like if it is the Browns.
I'd like to say Joe Flacco, but I don't know
if Joe Flacco will be the starter. After too long,
then suddenly it's like we just have three different names
that can all be in that same bottom tier slot.
It's teams who are in the bottom ten, not a
single quarterback because they don't have a quarterback, but.
Speaker 5 (39:53):
Justin fields for the Jets, is he bottom ten? Just
by default? By default?
Speaker 2 (39:56):
I think I think he is.
Speaker 5 (39:58):
Yes, Yeah, especially again just because these are all guys
that at one point in their life with the number
one dude.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
Yeah. Look, we're not hating it. It's who they play for.
It's where they're at right now.
Speaker 1 (40:08):
Would we have said the same anyone fought for Baker
Mayfield few years ago.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
No, he grew to that position, so props to him.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
Jalen Hurts not on the list, and Charles McDonald gets
exactly what he wanted out of this list.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
We're talking about it. Yeah, who's sport's good for you?
Speaker 3 (40:25):
Hey?
Speaker 1 (40:26):
What do you think about their top ten quarterbacks entering
That's the key dannyg pointed out a few times entering
the twenty twenty five season. You know, I'm intrigued to
see what our buddy jay Stue says, because jay Stu
pulls for the Chargers and his boys there, his boys
on the list. Are you Are you a Justin Herbert believer,
jay Stu? Is he a top ten guy?
Speaker 4 (40:47):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (40:47):
Absolutely, Herbert's the top ten guy. But who wrote this list?
Charles McDonald, It's more like Charles mcdon't know quarterbacks? Oh yeah,
don't don't know. I think I think the Gino Smith
thing is disqualifying. As soon as I saw that, I
had to disregard the list. I'm sorry, Dane, No, I.
Speaker 6 (41:07):
Agree with you. I said from the jump. He is
not a top ten quarterback, not right now. Maybe at
the end of the twenty twenty five season you could
argue he belongs up a little higher. But I mean
I saw a list a few days ago where somebody
put him twenty eight. So at one list says twenty eight.
One list says what eight?
Speaker 2 (41:24):
Ten?
Speaker 3 (41:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (41:25):
No eight, And for a reference, Herbert is number five
according to the list. Again, everybody's gonna have a different
I don't need to give the analogies, but someone's got
to be on the bottom. But you were getting close
to the MLB All Star Game, which I'm hoping we're
at is. Isn't it funny when you see the best
guy in your team batting eighth on the All Star team,
You're like, huh wow, okay, because someone has to bat there.
(41:50):
Someone is your bottom tier quarterback. And it just shows
that even in the summer, we're sitting pool side at
June and we're talking about the NFL, because the NFL
still there could be NBA playoffs, there could.
Speaker 2 (42:00):
Be Otani and tatting.
Speaker 3 (42:03):
No matter.
Speaker 1 (42:03):
You heard the owner of this casino say, nothing gets
the crowd more fired up. It's not March Mad, this
is not a boxing event, it's not UFC. It's still
the NFL and the Super Bowl, and people love talking
about it. So your thoughts at Covino and Rich and
we're gonna give away prizes pool side. But guess what,
if you're at home, if you're in your car, you're
(42:24):
listening to the podcast, we're giving a chance for you
to win. Here, we're gonna play a game. Is chapottle
worker or w NBA player. You just have to tell
us who. It's our way of getting to know more
w NBA players. But we're putting a little twist to it. Okay,
a little Friday twist to the game, and we'll do
that next.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
Plus we still got weekend hob nobbing and Moore
