live on the Peacock act Our two. On this Wednesday,
The Sandman Adam Sandler will join us. Happy GOI More
two comes out on Friday, and early reviews are it's
a lot of fun, different than the original, but then
they had to make it more modern day. I don't
want to give away too many of the plotlines in here,
(00:47):
but Samman will join us coming up in about twenty
minutes from now. Phone calls always welcome. Operator Tyler sitting
by doing nothing. He'll take your calls each seven to
seven to three. DP Show email address DPA Danpatrick dot
com Twitter handled a. DP show talked a lot about
the NFL camps opening, and also you have players who
(01:07):
are not there, and I know we focused on Trey Hendrickson,
we focused on Michaeh. Parsons, I do think the Terry
McLaurin situation warrants a lot more attention because this guy's
twenty nine years of age and he's made two Pro
Bowls in the last three seasons. He's in the last
year of his deal. So if you follow this stuff,
(01:28):
if it means anything, it's a fifteen million dollar salary.
His signing bonus was spread out over three years, so
his total pay is just over twenty five million dollars,
which is a great salary. But he wants to be
included with some of the other players. He's not Jamar Chase,
he's not Justin Jefferson, but he's certainly better than Brandon Ayuk,
(01:49):
who got more money than that. He had eighty two
catches thirteen touchdowns for a team that surprised a lot
of teams people that you know, they were in the
playoffs and they were a dangerous team, and you got
Jayden Daniels year two. You'd like to continue that progress
(02:09):
and Terry McLaurin was a big part of that this
past year. All right, So the camps are open for business.
The contract issues continue with the Bengals and the Cowboys
and certainly the Commanders. We will come up with a
new pole question. Let's recap the hour one pole question,
then we'll go to our two seat.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Yeah, we had up there, if you could sign just
one all pro money was the same wide receiver or
a defensive end. Right now, defensive end is running away
with that one. Why do you think that is?
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Well, they are listening to me, and they understand that
I'm very insightful, and I said that I'd rather have
the guy who's going to impact the game every single
down that he's in there. Where's a wide receiver. He
might have ten catches and granted scoring touchdowns, but just
feels like those guys are disruptors. Miles Garrett, T J. Watt, Like,
(03:06):
you know, I still go back to Aaron Donald, who
I think was underrated. I thought Aaron Donald was underrated.
Is it be good?
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Doesn't feel easier to take a wide receiver out of
the game for some reason than it doesn't a defense.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Then yeah, I can put two guys on Aaron Donald,
but that's means somebody else is gonna have less attention there.
It just feels like those guys are always getting two
guys on them. Miles Garrett, always getting two guys on them.
Justin Jefferson, If I, you know, have two guys on him,
(03:39):
I can take away him or at least try to
take away him as a threat.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Yees see, and in a much more confined space, right Like,
if you double team a wide receiver, it's over. You know,
it could be over a massive area just inside this
one confined area. The minute you double team somebody else,
somebody else is opening right up.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
Paul also feels like if you have a good, above
average or great quarterback, you could patchwork the wide receiver
position via the draft, via free agency. Look at what
the Chiefs are doing every year. There's a couple new
guys and they figure it out. But if they lost
Chris Jones, that's a problem. You know, Aiden Hudginson being
gone for the Lions last year, that was a big problem.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Yeah. Well, look at what Brady did his entire career
in New England. Aside from Randy Moss. He made players
into good players, all pro players. Football is back Mike
Florio and Chris Simms Pro Football Talk Live. It starts
at seven am Eastern on Peacock, also the Roku channel,
Samsung TV, and more. Peacock is our streaming partner. Thank
(04:40):
you for downloading the app, and if you haven't done so,
please do and we say good morning to our radio
affiliates around the country. What is the pole question for
our two seaton? I think maybe we throw up there.
Players should be paid on potential of performing. Hmm, okay,
(05:00):
what would you be paying Trey hendrickson On? Let me
make you the owner of the Bengals. You're Mike Brown,
Trey Hendrickson looking at all of these salaries that have jumped,
and he plays the same position. He's outperformed TJ Watt
sackwise the last two years. And I'm going to ask you,
Trey Hendrickson is thirty years of age. Are you going
(05:22):
to pay him on what he did or what he
will do right? Right?
Speaker 2 (05:27):
The potential of what he could continue doing. I'm paying
him based on what he already did. He earned that money, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
But he got paid to do that. I gotta pay
you on what I think you're going to do. But
that's got that has you up to a certain level.
So you've already gotten up to a certain level. Now
can you continue to maintain that at age thirty? Would
I give him a three year deal? Three year deal,
(06:00):
let's say for one hundred and ten one hundred and
fifteen million dollars. Now are they going to guarantee that
because they want to give him reportedly a one year
guaranteed contract. Well, that's that's a slap in the face. Now,
that is that's insulting. That's insulting. Yes it is, Yes,
(06:20):
it is. If you give me three years guaranteed and
he's making over thirty million dollars, and that's a jump
I think he's making eighteen Does that sound right that
Trey Hendrickson eighteen million? Paul, Yes, yeah, okay, let's jump
it up to thirty. Now I might say, well, wait
a minute, here, look at my numbers compared to these guys.
(06:42):
And he would have a case there. I don't know
if he would go, yeah, I'll do three years, one
hundred and ten million guaranteed. And I don't think the
Bengals would give him a three year you know, all
guaranteed money. So that's the problem. Like, if you're starting
at a one year guaranteed contract, I mean that's not
really even a contract. If it's one year, you know,
(07:05):
it's got a I beout two years could make a
contract I can agree year.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Yeah, okay, we agree that this year will do this.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Yeah, yeah, Paul.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
I think the biggest factor, or one of the biggest
factors for me as an owner, would be where our
franchise is. And you know, like you said, the Cowboys
are a mediocre team and probably not competing for a
Super Bowl. They think they are, they're not. I would
be more conservative financially. But if I'm on the Washington
team or the Cincinnati team, both of them are contenders.
The way Cincinnati played at the end of last year,
(07:37):
full healthy Joe Burrow, Like you said, you need a
little bit of defense, and Trey hendricks provides. Hendrickson provides
that for you. But if if I were a team
that stunk, I would avoid paying everybody I could.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Yeah, but look at what the Browns did with Miles Garrett.
They paid him. I mean, I don't know how many
people are showing up to watch Miles Garrett. Having Miles
Garrett on a good team makes you a great team
or potentially, But that's a bad team and they paid
him a whole lot of money. Instead of why don't
we trade him, why don't we try to get something
for him? The Steelers went all in and that's why
(08:11):
we knew they were going to pay TJ. Watt. The
question was when and why is it taking so long?
All of these teams that we're talking about, they could
have been proactive and paid their players a while ago,
and you save money at least I assume that you're
saving money if I get you in for thirty one
million instead of thirty eight million, saving money. But these
(08:35):
owners continue to stretch this out. That's why I want
to devote some attention, some time to it. But then
I know Michael Parsons is going to get signed, and
I'm going to assume Trey Hendrickson will get signed. So therefore,
anything else that you do on this feels like you're
just checking a box or it's filler for a show,
(08:58):
and I want to advance this. I know, is there
anything else attached to this? It's just Jerry keeps doing this,
and it feels like with these big contracts. He did
it with Dak and he's gonna do it with Mike Parsons.
I just don't understand. I want to have a partnership
with my best players. I like Patrick Mahomes. It feels
(09:21):
like that's a partnership Brady in the Patriots felt like
a partnership at least for a long time. Peyton Manning
with the Colts, you know, you just want to have
kind of a good vibe there that your leader is
happy and will do what it takes to make sure
that this team stays together. Or you get free agents
(09:41):
to come in because you're going to want to play here.
They take care of you. Yeah, Martin, if you're Trey, does.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
Your age keep you from asking for TJ.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
Watt money or just because he's not a bigger name. Well,
I think because he's not a bigger name and he
plays for the Bengals, but he's the same is TJ. Watt.
But TJ Watt got paid. I just the Bengals aren't
going to give Trey Hendricks and TJ. Watt money. Let
(10:10):
me get a couple of phone calls in here. It's
the story that won't go away. It's the controversy. It's
threatening to blow up two national radio shows. It's celebrity
family feud, and Jake and Utah has some thoughts on that. Hi, Jake,
Hey Dan.
Speaker 5 (10:26):
It's great to chat with you. I think I have
this figured out. I am not a family funeral expert.
But I do consider myself a little bit of a connoisseur,
watching all the way back to the Richard Dawson days,
and that man kiss a lot of people. Here's what
I think is, here's what I think is the answer.
And Chad Gpt backs me up on this. If what
(10:48):
you're saying is right, that Fritzy repeated an answer on
the board that's actually totally okay. If he repeated an
answer that had already previousely Ben striked, then it does count.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
As a second strike.
Speaker 5 (11:01):
So I have to think you guys are okay, and
I think that rich Eisen is the one that's wrong.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
Okay, thank you, Jake. A lot of opinions on this.
All I know is I'm a champion. I'm a winner.
Speaker 6 (11:12):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
You know, if rich wants to continue this feud, this
is the real family feud right here after the celebrity
family feud. Uh, Fritzy, did you reach out to Rich Eisen?
Does he does he want to show his face? Actually
talk to me about this man de man? I did not.
Speaker 7 (11:33):
I did reach out to Family Feud to see if
Steve Harvey want it away, and I went on to
uh set the record straight.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
Any response from Steve Harvey not staying away from the Okay,
he is staying away from this move. I don't blame him.
It's good.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
Yeah, Rich not texting us if you want to come up?
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Yeah, well why don't you see if Rich wants to
join us, maybe next hour we'll make some time. Scare
Maybe we can settle this like men. You know, I
want to play with fire, scarecrow. That's what happens. You
get burned.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
Oh, I need Dan.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
I'm leeve Rich. Go ahead, Fritzy, I need Dan. I
need Rich with quite a few all right, thank you.
Robert in Indiana, Hi, Robert, what's on your mind today?
Speaker 8 (12:29):
Good morning Dan the champ six third time caller. Today's
my birthday. I get a shout out please, And I
have a question. I won a lottery tickets to the
Masters for the practice round on a Tuesday. Any pointers, anything,
(12:55):
any advice you can get me?
Speaker 4 (12:56):
It would be great.
Speaker 7 (12:57):
Thanks.
Speaker 1 (12:59):
It's I tell people the practice rounds are better than
the actual rounds because the players are looser, They'll be
a little more engaging. They're having fun out there.
Speaker 4 (13:08):
Now.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
I know it doesn't mean anything with a practice round,
but if you're looking for accessibility. You'll get that for
a practice round at Augusta, I would say, be ready,
get really comfortable walking shoes because it is a very
hilly course. May not look like that on TV, but
it is. And if you want to position yourself at
(13:30):
one hole, that's what I do when I've gone there.
I have a friend who sets up two chairs lawn
chairs or small chairs on the sixteenth green and we
just sat there. Everybody's coming through eventually, and therefore you
can watch the tournament instead of if you're I'm invited
to the Ryder Cup, and I said, now I'd rather
(13:53):
watch it on TV. I said, the worst place to
watch a golf tournament is at a golf tournament because
you're trying to navigate crowds. If you're following somebody, if
you're just staying in one area, that's really good. But
I would say for the most part, you know, you're
just either walk around with them or just get planted
(14:15):
on one seat and stay there. Let me see, should
we take a break now, Paully, yeah, the Sandman Okay,
all right, we'll take a break. More phone calls coming
up eight seven seven three DP show and Adam Sandler said,
to John us next here, Dan Patrick Show. Thanks for

Speaker 1 (14:57):
But here's the thing.
Speaker 9 (14:58):
We never have enough time to get to everything we
want to get to.
Speaker 6 (15:01):
And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for. Yeah, you blubber lit name in me.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
Well you know what it's called over promise.
Speaker 9 (15:17):
You should be good at it because you've been over
promising women for years.
Speaker 6 (15:19):
Well, it's a Covino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk
life and relationships and if Rich and I are arguing
about something or we didn't have enough time it will
continue on our after show called over Promised.
Speaker 9 (15:33):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promised and also Uncensored by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even a
little harder. It's gonna be the best after show podcast
of all time.
Speaker 6 (15:43):
There you go, over Promising. Remember you could see on YouTube,
but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised with Covino and
Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you
get your podcasts.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
A couple of minutes before we speak with Adam Sandler,
the movie comes out on They had a big premiere
Monday night in New York City. Scotty Scheffler brought the
Claret jug to the premiere. Derrick Henry, our buddy with
the Ravens, he was there as well. I saw him
and Sandler on the red carpet talking, maybe talking about
(16:16):
that next movie that he was going to put Derrick
Henry in if he rushed for two thousand yards, yes, Paul.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
To recap that when on our show, Derrick Henry said
how much he liked Adam Sandler, and you said, you
get two thousand I'm getting in a movie and Sandler responded,
it's affecting people's fantasy football drafts. The drafts haven't really
started yet, but a lot of people on social media,
I don't know if they're being facetious, said Derrick Henry
has some bonus motivation this year. We should take a
(16:42):
lot of credit if Dereck Henry runs for two thousand years.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
A lot. Okay, A ton.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
As a matter of fact, A ton mostly us, Yes,
a little bit him.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
He's the one doing the heavy lifting.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
Yes, but we motivated him, so coach Harbush, I thank us.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
Uh, Fritzy is Samman?
Speaker 4 (17:04):
That sure is all right.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
How are you feeling? How you feeling?
Speaker 4 (17:13):
I'm feeling fantastic? Are we on the air?
Speaker 1 (17:15):
Yeah we are, Yes, we are.
Speaker 7 (17:18):
Danny, I never know with you, I just never know
what it's happening, pushing tight to day.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
That's the magic, you know. I want to bring you
into a conversation, you know, like we're just chatting, if
you know, like I was on the phone with you
or I saw you in person. I just start right in.
Speaker 4 (17:35):
But you don't ever answer. Facetimes.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
I notice, no, I don't why that time going FaceTime?
Speaker 7 (17:45):
I hate that FaceTime man. Whenever someone facetimes. Man, I'm like,
what are we doing right now? It's stupid.
Speaker 1 (17:52):
Do famous people FaceTime you? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (17:55):
Yes, I get famous face times and they all look
very good on it.
Speaker 7 (17:59):
But the reason I okay, here's what I don't like
about FaceTime.
Speaker 4 (18:03):
You're on it. It's blasting out whatever you're saying.
Speaker 7 (18:06):
You hear what they're saying, and then you got to
say loud no blah blah blah.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
And then you're walking down the street.
Speaker 7 (18:12):
Everyone's here and everybody thing you're saying and every everything together.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
First you say, it never works out. I like a
quiet what's up?
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Guys? Shouldn't FaceTime guys?
Speaker 4 (18:23):
That's true exactly. Who needs to see it? You think
I need to see my friends? And man, do I
look horrendous?
Speaker 7 (18:32):
By the way, my mother on a FaceTime horrific close
face right.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
It doesn't matter. I don't know why your face timeing? Mo.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
I FaceTime somebody and they're not used to doing it,
and they put it up to their ear, so I'm
looking in their ear for the FaceTime.
Speaker 4 (18:54):
That's yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
How would you describe the premiere on Monday night?
Speaker 4 (19:00):
Oh my goodness, man, it was exciting.
Speaker 7 (19:03):
It was I did a bunch of talk shows that day,
and then I I kind of, uh just got to
where the thing was around six thirty. Everybody was kind
of going in. I went in with my family, saw
like literally literally like a hundred superstars were running around
(19:24):
the place.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
It was so much fun, and they were all in
the most of them were in the movie. And I
don't know. It was a good night. The movie played great.
You killed Swear to.
Speaker 7 (19:33):
God, you you heard the last thing in the whole movie,
in the whole movie, you was Scotti chocolate. Really yeah,
you you you riffed some stuff. We wrote down something.
You made it more. Dan Patrick, He what's your character's
name in the movie, Not Dan Patrick, it's Patrick, Pat
pat Daniels.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
Pat pat Daniels.
Speaker 7 (19:54):
Yes, Pat pat Daniels rifted it hard man. We got
some break and then and then the chef brings.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
It down at the end.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
That's great. Who surprised you at the premiere?
Speaker 4 (20:07):
You mean like I didn't know what was coming.
Speaker 7 (20:08):
I didn't know Margaret Qually was there until Jackie said
to me last night, oh look, and it showed me
a pictures of who was there.
Speaker 4 (20:16):
I said, Margaret Quality came out and see her and
so that me.
Speaker 7 (20:19):
And Jackie called uh Margaret and her husband jack last
night and we were like, you guys came, what do
you mean did we come? We were there, We had
a great time. I said, I didn't see I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
Yeah, No, we didn't want to bug you that kind
of thing. It was. It was. It was a fact
with nice people.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Bad Bunny was there.
Speaker 4 (20:38):
Bad Bunny?
Speaker 7 (20:39):
What a stud You didn't realize that that the whole
world of bad Bunny?
Speaker 4 (20:42):
Did you? You? Did you meet the bun when we
were shooting?
Speaker 1 (20:46):
No, I didn't meet anybody.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
Oh yeah, we stuck you in the studio. Remember you
tried to meet people.
Speaker 7 (20:52):
And I said, stay here, No, you don't want you
Why do you do that?
Speaker 4 (21:00):
Well, dandy, you gotta admit you a nine D with
guzzling away.
Speaker 7 (21:04):
You're like, I want to charge you, buddy, I said,
you can't do that, right, I'm out here.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
I did that with Aniston and Hawaii and and you
you were correct and saying, because remember they were going
to go and do pilates or hot yoga, hot yoga.
I had a chance to go with Aniston and you
you did not allow me to go do hot yoga
with Joe you're.
Speaker 7 (21:34):
The whole reason Aniston got a security team.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
Okay, so do you have to watch the original Happy
Gilmore to understand the sequel?
Speaker 4 (21:48):
No, but it is fun to do it.
Speaker 7 (21:50):
And actually when we were writing it, we were writing
and writing, and then I said to hr Lahe we
kept saying, well, in the first one, didn't this happen?
And then one night, literally like a month into writing,
I said, dude, I think we should watch the first one.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
He goes, oh, right, So we watched it. We're like, oh, yeah,
that's right. That happened. Like there was a bunch of
things we forgot about.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
Okay, set the record straight again. I think you told
me this, and I've been telling this story and I
think that maybe it's not accurate that Bob Barker said
he would be in the fight scene with you in
the original, but that he had to win the fight.
Is that correct?
Speaker 7 (22:32):
Yes, if I remember correctly, that's what was told to
me by you know, like agents and stuff. When they
were doing the deal. They said, because we wrote it. Honestly,
it was written for Ed McMahon, and then McMahon passed
and then we were like, I mean, when Happy Gilmore happened,
(22:52):
nobody was that excited to be a part of it
thirty years ago. So Ed McMahon was like, why would
I do that? And he moved on and then we
were like, you know, it would be incredible, Bob Barker,
but there's no way here because once Ed McMahon said.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
Nobody were like, yeah, nobody's gonna want to do this.
Speaker 7 (23:09):
I think I did beat up Ed mcmahonnon in the
first trip.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
I don't think he won, and then we were like, no,
what's gonna do this? Man? But man, imagine if Bob
Bargain did him. And then we sent it to Bob
and then he said, yeah, yeah, I'll do it. It's funny.
But I got to win the fight.
Speaker 7 (23:25):
And we were like, yeah, baby, as long as you
do it, we'll do anything you want.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
Bob.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
How often do you call people to nudge them to
be in the movie.
Speaker 7 (23:36):
It's always always you feel like a jerk because, you know,
because I get those calls and you go, what happened?
I was gonna have a normal Saturday, and now I
got to go do this because I picked up the
phone that So I don't love doing it. But if
we write something funny, you know, like Eminem's in this one.
(23:56):
I love Eminem.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
I'm friends with Eminem, but I don't want to bother
the man.
Speaker 7 (24:00):
And everybody kept saying, man, Eminem would be so funny
in this part, and I was like, I don't want
to ruin this guy's time.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
He's hanging out and he's in Detroit. He's he's doing
with his life, making records.
Speaker 7 (24:12):
And then I started going, but it certainly would be
funny if he did it, so that then all right,
let me bug Marshall and yeah, give him a call
and say, dude, I know it's a pain the ass,
but it's pretty funny.
Speaker 4 (24:25):
You mind shooting out to us for a day. And
then he's like, yeah, yeah, send me the stuff. And
then it goes like that. That's how it goes down.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
He was in Funny People, wasn't he.
Speaker 4 (24:35):
Yes, yes, yes, you know I met I met him.
Speaker 7 (24:40):
I remember the first time I met him. I was
at Saturday Night Live. I was I wasn't on the
show anymore, and I was sitting at an after part.
I went by SNL just just to hang out. I think, well,
maybe I had a little bit or some something. And
I was at the table with all my guys, and
he was the musical guest with Dre and we were
at the after party and then, uh, Marshall walked by
(25:04):
our table and he looked at me, and I looked
at him, like, oh yeah, that kids.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
That kid's pretty damn cool. And then he goes Bobby
Boushe something like that. Oh yeah, that's once Marshall.
Speaker 7 (25:17):
And then became friendly after that, and then then of course,
yeah he was in Funny People when we hung out.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
He's Adam Sandler, Happy Go More two, It'll be this
Friday on Netflix. Yeah, how different? But how different is
this that it goes right to a streaming platform as
opposed to being in the movie theaters? How how long
did it take you to get adjusted to that?
Speaker 4 (25:40):
I'm adjusted to that.
Speaker 7 (25:41):
But I like the At the premiere the other night,
it was a thousand seater, so it was pretty packed,
and it was fun here in the laughs out loud
and cheers, and it was really cool every time in
the beginning, like the first thirty minutes, every time happen
he picked up a club, the Cross.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
Iarted go whooping, and like here we go.
Speaker 7 (26:06):
Maybe you know, like there was some sort of excitement
about Happy Smashing it big, and.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
So that was nice to be around people.
Speaker 7 (26:14):
But but I get it now and Netflix is it's
so worldwide.
Speaker 4 (26:19):
But I'm not Kidney Danny. When we do these movies now,
and wherever the hell you are in the.
Speaker 7 (26:23):
World, people people talk to you about the movie now.
It's just it's just the weirdest thing.
Speaker 4 (26:28):
There's no no place to hide anymore.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
When you're trying, you know, in the original with the
the hockey slap shot playing golf, Like, how challenging is that.
I don't know if you're a hockey player, but you're
from New Hampshire, so maybe on you you played a little.
Speaker 7 (26:45):
Bit little uh. Just played the frozen driveway hockey as
a kid, and I think I skated UH with my
buddies growing up. But all my buddies were awesome hockey players.
My one pal in particular, the other Kyle McDonough, who
went on to play pro hockey, and his brother Huby
(27:05):
played pro hockey though they were like.
Speaker 4 (27:08):
The superstars in my town.
Speaker 7 (27:09):
And I was best friends with Kyle and he went
confering with me and my dad and used to smash
the ball. So that's that's kind of how the whole
idea of the movie came and uh, yeah, I didn't
play play hockey, but I did know that it would
be cool to make make it a slapshot kind of thing,
run up and bang the ball.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
Let's update the Derrick Henry situation. I saw where he
was at the premiere. You were having a conversation with him.
Can you add anything?
Speaker 4 (27:40):
First of all, very nice, loves you, loves you. I
mentioned your name.
Speaker 7 (27:44):
He just automatically started laughing. Maybe he was laughing at you.
And what you mean, budd was he brought laughter to
But he was very nice and strong man by the way,
I get it now, he can run over.
Speaker 4 (28:00):
He was nice enough not to run me over. And
then I just said.
Speaker 7 (28:04):
That we're doing a movie together, baby, And yeah, you
set this up that if he gets how many yards
five twenty thousand yards in one game, he made it
very difficult. So anyways, I'm taking that wager away. He's
getting the yards he needs to get. He can get
(28:26):
the two thousand. But I figured when we'll just let's
just do it, let's just do let's just have the
man be in one of the movies and have fun
like like we.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
All like to do.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
Have fun.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
Oh okay, So Derrick Henry is in the next movie.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
Well, it's gotta be. I already told him he is,
So what am I gonna say that?
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Okay?
Speaker 7 (28:46):
I said, you know what I was thinking about it.
You're not now try to run me over. Imagine that moment.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
Okay, Derek, do you want to say what the next
movie is going to be?
Speaker 4 (28:59):
I wish I knew right now, Pal, I was just
with the Netflix brass.
Speaker 7 (29:03):
They were trying to stare me down and intimidate me,
and I didn't let it happen. I said, you wait
for this. Sandman's going to tell you what's up soon enough.
And who's Sandman? I said, maybe, come on this shit?
Speaker 1 (29:19):
Uh but I think you when we went to No
Matter What, Yeah, thank you, when we went to dinner
in New York, you did let it slip of what
the next movie was going to be.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
You know, no, just talk of it. Man, I've got
to write these damn things.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
Danny, Okay, now you could be working on this movie.
Speaker 7 (29:44):
Oh Danny, don't it's happy Gilmore two time.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
Okay, all right, I'm just I'm trying to figure out
I have a life and I have a schedule. I
like I work every day you do work hard, Daddy.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
You look great.
Speaker 7 (30:00):
By the way, Danny, when we went out to dinner
New York City, we're walking down the street. Won't worry
about a mile away from your hotel, and we walked home.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
You walk fast, Danny.
Speaker 7 (30:11):
Danny was walking through New York City blazing short shorts
because in summertime, and he goes hard short, half little
half fun hanging out on Danny, and the crowd's going
nuts like Danny's no, no, no, yes.
Speaker 1 (30:26):
We probably ran into seventy people on the street in
New York City. You even said we leave that we
left the restaurant and you said, you don't want to
walk with the sandman and I go because I'm gonna
guess sixty eight of the seventy people that stopped us
wanted a photo with you.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
That's true.
Speaker 1 (30:47):
One guy who stopped us, he wanted me to take
the photo of you and him. And then there was
one guy that said, oh, by the way, ell, can
I get a picture with you as well.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
I told you why that night.
Speaker 7 (31:03):
I told you that night why people didn't were They
were nervous with it, how short the short were.
Speaker 4 (31:08):
They were like, why is we all oiled up?
Speaker 7 (31:10):
It didn't make sense. And what was with the referee whistle?
They were like, why did you It didn't make sense.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
Man.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
I had my shorts on that I wore when I
climbed the rope.
Speaker 4 (31:23):
The Larry Burners man, isn't that cool? How about how
good Indiana was this year? That was? That was amazing?
Speaker 1 (31:32):
Huh what are you talking about?
Speaker 7 (31:36):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
I just was happy. I'm always happy whenever Indiana and not.
Speaker 7 (31:40):
You know, I didn't want to beat the Knicks, of course,
but when they won, I was like, well that made
Larry Bird happy.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
That's a good thing.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
Do you feel good about your nicks?
Speaker 4 (31:50):
My nips? My nipples are oh you said, Dick? Okay,
ie nipples are not huge, not small?
Speaker 7 (31:57):
Whatever that media But Nick fantastic.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
I saw Jordan Clarkson at a hotel psyched. He's on
the team. I love him.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
What you think that's gonna be the difference that.
Speaker 4 (32:15):
You love him? You love him, and I do think
it's gonna be very effected. But you dare Nick?
Speaker 1 (32:22):
Uh? So Sandman plays pick up basketball before we go
to oh yeah yeah so and so it's a nice
restaurant right that we went to and Sandman goes, you know,
there's a place of park there. I'm gonna play pick
up basketball. So he is sweating. You had your flower
(32:45):
Hawaiian shirt on your shorts and then you can come
walking in. But you said that the guys were kind
of picking on you a little bit. One guy, one
guy in particular.
Speaker 7 (32:56):
Yeah, he was fast and he kept call.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
Didn't he say something about Kyrie?
Speaker 7 (33:02):
Well, listen, the kid had great handles. He admired Kyrie.
He'd burned me. I literally had no idea.
Speaker 4 (33:09):
Where he was going.
Speaker 7 (33:10):
I kept looking at my teammate's going, why am I
covering this guy? Give me a big dude that I can,
you know, foul all the time. This guy I can't
catch at all. And he would burn past me. He
didn't put it through my legs or anything. I didn't
allow that, but he certainly after he buzzed by me,
he would say, give me.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
A little Kyrie reaction, And what can I do? Danny?
Speaker 7 (33:31):
I'm an older man. Even when I was even when
I was nineteen, I wasn't covering this kid. He was
just two. He had good handles. You know who I
love covering Danny, A three hundred pound man who's never
played before.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
That's my kind of dude.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
Are you better than Timothy shallow?
Speaker 4 (33:51):
Timothy? Jimothy's quick? It's quick.
Speaker 7 (33:53):
I can't say it's a different game. No, I won't
say I'm better. If we played one on one, who
would be exciting. But but he's he's fast, got a
good shots, got good handles, and he is quicker than me.
You know my biggest problem right now at the fifty eight, Danny,
which you're you said you're what eighty you're eighty one,
you told me recently. But Danny, covering these dudes when
(34:18):
they come up. When you've got to cover a guy
up top, you go to the top of the key.
You're playing a half court.
Speaker 4 (34:24):
There's too much space for them. The burn pastes.
Speaker 7 (34:26):
So I give him three feet, don't allow him, and
then they always hit him, hit him.
Speaker 4 (34:30):
Everyone can shoot deep now in including shalliban?
Speaker 8 (34:35):
Well?
Speaker 1 (34:35):
I hope the movie is good. Okay, I'm going to
ask you that it's good.
Speaker 4 (34:42):
Okay, I know the parts you're in a good that's
all that. That's all you think about, Danny.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Will there be a happy Gilmour three?
Speaker 4 (34:51):
I didn't think of that, Dan, I don't know. I
just got to see how this feels. The two took
long enough.
Speaker 7 (34:59):
My wife said to me recently, she thinks I'm gonna
live because she's good at predicting the future.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
I'm going to live to one hundred and twelve.
Speaker 7 (35:05):
She gave me that, So there is time to do
a happy Gilmore three, one hundred and twelve.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
I don't grownups. Grown ups three.
Speaker 4 (35:15):
Gotta do a lot of things, Danny. You know what,
you know what? You know what else I gotta do,
which I am struggling.
Speaker 7 (35:22):
I got to lose at least forty right now, and
I'm not doing it, Danny, Danny. Last night, at ten
o'clock at night, I was fine. I was in the
house with my wife. Kids were talking, not not really
talking to me much.
Speaker 4 (35:34):
I said to my.
Speaker 7 (35:34):
Wife, Hey, you want to go to the diner and
get some eggs. She goes, why do you stay here?
I go, Nah, come on with to the diner. She goes,
you're happy here? Aren't you trying to get me out
of this hell I'm creating for myself.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
I said, we'll go get some eggs. He goes, are
you obsessed with the eggs? I said, let's get eggs
and come back. Went out. She didn't eat. I somehow
had a cheeseburger bowl of soup. There were no eggs in, Bob.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
That's why you gotta lose forty pounds, Danny.
Speaker 4 (36:04):
I'm just adding on to what I gotta lose.
Speaker 7 (36:07):
That's how I feel like that a little more just
and then we'll get to the loser.
Speaker 1 (36:12):
All right. Good to talk to you. Congratulate the movie, dude.
Speaker 7 (36:17):
I'm excited for everyone to see it. Thank you again
for being in it. And that was so much fun
when we shot together. You were great, Danny, and honestly,
you think you're in three or four spots. And everybody
who was in it, all the athletes, all the sports announcers,
all the all just basketball, great, great football. Anybody who
(36:41):
was nice enough to drop by, superstar, actors, rappers, singers,
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 1 (36:50):
He's the Sandman. The movie comes out on Friday. Happy
to go more too, Thank you Sandman. Talk to you soon.
Speaker 4 (36:56):
Have a good day, Danny.
Speaker 1 (36:57):

better get may COO. Give me a movie that needs
a sequel? Is there one that comes to mind? Where
You Go? You know what, maybe we didn't answer all
the questions in the original.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
Paul, We've talked about this on air and had people
on to talk about it. He got Game two.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
I think people would tune into good.
Speaker 3 (37:48):
Denzel Washington still acting, Ray Allen is now could be
the father, etc. The scripture rite itself. I think everybody
wants it to happen.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
I think Ray Allen's birthday is today or yesterday? I
think did he turned fifty? Does that sound about right?
It still looks great. We saw him in Tahoe. Any
other movie that you think of Where You Go? I
think a sequel would be great. Now Happy Gilmore. They
waited a long time Top Gun Maverick waited a long
(38:18):
time for that, and it worked out for Top Gun
in Maverick, and I'm going to assume it'll work out
for Happy Gilmore too. But I don't know if there's
any that comes to mind, Todd, you got one that
comes to mind that a sequel would be great.
Speaker 7 (38:32):
This would be a tricky one, and I don't want
to give anything away for those that haven't seen it
after all these years.
Speaker 4 (38:36):
The sixth sense too, on what may or may.
Speaker 7 (38:39):
Not have happened at the end of what we think
happened wasn't actually true.
Speaker 4 (38:43):
I really liked that movie. It was pretty creepy and
interesting in the sixth sense too. I go see that.
Speaker 1 (38:48):
Okay, it's an odd choice. Yeah it is. Bruce wouldn't
be able to do it. It would not, No, Haley,
Joel Osmond's been in the news, not for good reason since,
but yeah, that's one of those movies where he was brilliant, Hailey.
Joe Osmon deserved the Academy Award. He was incredible. I
(39:09):
don't know why the Academy looks at you know children
or you know kids actors and they don't give them
And I'm I'm not saying special treatment, but you know,
acknowledging them of what they're doing. They it feels like
love to honor somebody who's paid their dues. Tatum O'Neill
(39:29):
in Bad News Bearers was awesome, great. She was in
Paper Moon with her dad. She was great. I think
she maybe she was nominated for that. But Hailey Joe
Osmond sixth sense, that's great acting. Yeah. I think it'd be.
Speaker 2 (39:45):
Cool if they made a sequel to that movie Memento,
and it was just them explaining what in the hell
the first one was about. I would love that, You're like,
I've watched that movie twice. The first time I thought
I understood it better than the second time. I was
completely lost the second time through. If they could just
make another movie and be like, oh, this is what
the first one was, that would be awesome.
Speaker 1 (40:05):
Yeah. The actor Guy Piers, he doesn't have short term memory,
and he gets tattoos. He writes down things on his body,
but he gets tattoos to help him remind himself of
certain things.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
Yeah, seton, but the way the movie is done, it's
through his current consciousness, so you're sort of constantly resetting
the movie too. And he's trying to figure out what
does all these tattoos mean? Every five minutes, and then
it resets, and then it jumps to a different point
in his memory and a different point in his memory,
and at the end of the movie, you're like, what
in the hell just happened?
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Who was that? What did they do? Who is the
bad guy? Who was a good guy?
Speaker 3 (40:42):
Yes, PAULI, Yeah, that's one of those movies that I
don't know if it's a great movie, but it's a
great experience in the theater where you went, You're like,
this is something I've never seen before. The movie get Out.
The first time I saw get Out, I had no
idea what was coming. I'd watch no previews, I knew nothing,
and I was blindsided. And that was as still a
great movie, but that first experience of get Out is
(41:03):
blows your hair back.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
Let me see Larry and Michigan. Hi, Larry, what's oh?
Rich Eisen is going to join us in a half

Speaker 1 (41:19):
I'm gonna play few too.
Speaker 4 (41:20):
Coming up at about a half hour.
Speaker 1 (41:22):
Thank you, Todd, Larry, Larry and Michigan Hi, Larry, Hey.
Speaker 4 (41:26):
Dan, thanks for the call real quick sequels for Scump.
I'd like to see a sequel. That'd be kind of
cool to see what Old Force is doing now. But
my question is, I was wondering what you and the
dan Atts thought was would be the best AFI song
for a walk up for a hitter's walk up song.
I mean, personally, I like war Pigs.
Speaker 3 (41:46):
Nice and menaceine and scary.
Speaker 4 (41:48):
A little bit. It's just kind of curious what you
guys thought.
Speaker 1 (41:55):
Well. I mean, crazy train is the anthemic. I mean,
that's that's the of music you love. Here rattling through
a stadium. There two hours in the books, one more
to go. The controversy that won't go away, or maybe
it will go away in a half hour from now.
