Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Y'ah.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
Always a pleasure Covino and Rich in for Dan and
the dan Nets here on.

Speaker 4 (00:10):
Respect to Dan Patrick and the dan Nettes.

Speaker 5 (00:14):
Gotta respect the Pat Daniels. Always a pleasure to be here,
Covino and Rich Monday through Friday five to seven on
the East. We'll be back normal time tomorrow and then
in for Dan Patrick again on Friday.

Speaker 4 (00:27):
So lots of fun this week. In for DP again.
I'm Steve Covino, that is Rich Davis.

Speaker 5 (00:33):
I want to thank DP for leaving the Glockenspiel because
iowa Sam is really rocking it right now.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
You don't tell him what to do. You don't tell
Sam what to do.

Speaker 5 (00:40):
No, I asked him politely every day, can you play
the Glockenspiel for us? And Danny G's on the phone
super producing at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.
Everything at Covino and Rich and of course our brand
new YouTube channel that sweeping the nation. Each show here
is now streaming live so you could watch what we're
doing live. So you can see me live in Lake
Topah right now and the rest of their crew back

(01:01):
at the Fast Radio studio.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
People can also see when you picked your nose like
twenty seconds ago.

Speaker 5 (01:06):
I'm always picking my nose, man, I just hope they're
not seeing me eat it. Just kidding again. But at
Copino and rich FSSR. At Copino and rich FSR on.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
YouTube, you mentioned Pat Daniels. Yeah, shout out to Dan Patrick.
He did a great job at Happy Gilmore Too. I
just hope one day the Sandman here's our show, and
he's like, oh, I like those guys too. But I
think Happy Gilmore Too was fantastic. If you didn't, I
don't know if we could be pals.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
That was. I don't know what you expected.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
I know it's been a month now, it's probably by
this time. Would you imagine like one hundred million households
have watched Happy Gilmore two, because it's still in the
top ten trending on Netflix, which I imagine means people
are still watching it.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
I mean there's mixed reviews, but it's so fun. That's
really it. It's kind of like this show here. It's goofy.
It's fun.

Speaker 4 (02:00):
Enjoy it.

Speaker 5 (02:01):
And speaking of oh yes it's the sand Man. We're
discussing what the Sandman says Hall of Famer Rod Caru.
He converted the times you converted in life, the times
you maybe converted someone else into things you like. There's

(02:22):
a story about Kelsey and Taylor Swift that we're in
the middle of, and we continue along with Midweek Major
This hour the biggest stories in the world of sports
and pop culture. We do it every Wednesday on our show.
Are the stories mid Week or Major Plus. I'm hoping
we have time to talk more foosball Rich.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Yeah, no, no doubt.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
We'll definitely get some more football, and I know that
Viking story is sort of an interesting one. Yeah, fans
are a little up in arms, so we'll get to football.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
We'll get to all that man at arms.

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Kelsey and Taylor Swift. I know it's been eye rolly
for many the last couple of years. Probably I really
reality is the biggest pop star in the world, a handsome,
winning football player. It's sort of gross how perfect they
have Pere at times they're in love. She's you know,
reminds him of his mom in a good way, Like

(03:13):
she's caring and loving and.

Speaker 5 (03:15):
She might be a stredge that I'm not trying to
get gossipy, but my girlfriend thought that he looked a
little aggravated with her on the podcast appearance, like the
viral clip where she's talking about his blue shirt and
he's sort of like, yeah, you know, honey, kind of
like your eyes.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
Wah wah wah.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
She said, he seemed that he seemed a little like aggravated.
I didn't really get that vibe, but some people have.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
I think she's just jealous that you're not traps. Kelsey.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Yeah, but I bring this up, and you bring this
up not because we care about the inner workings of
their relationship, but no, no, But he did say that
she has went from knowing nothing about football to like
reading injury reports and knowing schemes, understanding plays and listen, man,

(04:02):
when you date someone that is an all in type
of person, like I.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
We all have friends.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
It could be you people that are just not half
ass in it, Like yo, if I get invested in something,
I'm all in. I feel like that's the way a
lot of people are with things, like you know, if
I'm going to invest my time in something, I'm.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
Going all in.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
And Tayler Swift has gone all in on football, and
that's got to make him feel good and I think
we could say that about all of our significant others
and friends and family members. And that's where we open
it up to you guys eight seven, seven, nine to
nine on Fox. What has someone in your life turned
you onto to the point where they might not even

(04:42):
be in your life anymore, but you credit them?

Speaker 4 (04:44):
Like, you know what my favorite band is?

Speaker 3 (04:47):
I don't know a Pearl Jam because my college girlfriend
like insisted that we losten to Pearl Jam all the time,
Like who is.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
That for you? What is it?

Speaker 3 (04:56):
And let's let's discuss because Travis Kelce has turned Taylor
Swift from a girl that probably didn't watch it down
of football in her life to a superfan.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
Yeah, you want that.

Speaker 5 (05:08):
To happen organically too, though, when people are trying too
hard just to show that person that they're a team player,
could be a bit of a turnoff, although it's intended
to be a good thing and nice for the relationship.
But when it happens organically and they really do fall
in love with it, like Taylor Swift appears to love football,

(05:28):
that's what you really want and props to them for that.
So just recently, it's funny bring that up. Just recently,
my buddy, Harold hit me up on social media. Now
we're always friends, even though we don't keep in touch.
But I went to high school my boy, Harold Union
high school dude, and he's a black dude, and he

(05:50):
didn't listen to a lot of rock. It's just not
the life he was living. And every time I would
drive him home from football practice or school or whatever, again,
good pals.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
I'd have my disc changer in my car.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
Back in the mid nineties, you know, the mid to
late nineteen hundreds.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
Rich, So I imagine if this chang for the late
nineteen hundreds.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Did you also have a Drakard Noir air freshener, Oh, yeah, you.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
Know it, bro Digital EQ.

Speaker 5 (06:16):
Again, I was real proud of my whole system, my
booming system. Everybody had the box and their amps in
their car those days. So I would get in my
car and I'd put some rock on and I remember
him telling me, Yo, man, I like this song.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
I like that song.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
And I do remember that. And I was exposing him
to music. He wasn't necessarily exposed to hit me up
just the other day and he said, I'm not even
kidding you. He's like, yo, dude, I want you to
know you.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Changed my life. WHA was like.

Speaker 5 (06:44):
I was like, I know, I'm a great guy, you
know how, And he was like, and I was so
happy to hear he remembered that because I remember this too,
like him singing along to those songs and like we
were bond over that. He goes, Dude, I am still
till this day a rock fan because of you and
the songs you exposed me to and and the fun

(07:05):
we had listening to those songs. For the rest of
my life. Since then, I've been listening to my stuff,
but I still listen to that. So I think that's
real powerful and impactful. How you could change someone's life
in that way and not even know it.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
It's a beautiful story, I dude, I swear to God. Yeah,
it's just impacting. Lives could be done, he said, He
said I changed his life.

Speaker 5 (07:27):
I was like, wow, man, you know, and it was
cool to hear it really was, because, like you and
Forred just a few seconds ago, Rich, there's things that
you're into that you don't even really know.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Where you got it from. It's nice to give that
credit once in a while. Yeah, I mean, I can't
tell you.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
It doesn't mean a lot to me when you know,
like just the other day, I'm met the I'm at
the amusement park of my kids summer vacation, and I
look at my wife. She's look at all cute and
she's wearing a little Mets baseball cap, and I'm like,
she knows all about my stupid New York Mets and
took an interest, knows the players.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
I have the game every day in the background.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
And my wife, who when we first started dating, her
dad's originally from the Midwest.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
She's like, my dad sort of likes the Cardinals.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
And I'm like, yeah, well we don't like the Cardinals
in this family.

Speaker 5 (08:12):
And my wife did it for you in your relationship,
but she really really did begin to enjoy your team.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
Yeah, that's the organic part I was talking about before.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
And now you know she knows the Mets and all
the players, and you know our kids are Mets fans.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
So yeah, you do that.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
And you know, you could credit not just a woman
you end up with, but along the way, it could
be food too. Like I remember I was reluctant, you know,
like every young dufist guy. I was reluctant to try
different foods. And I remember to impress an ex girlfriend.
I was like, yeah, of course I like sushi. Japanese
food you called it, and I faked the funk and

(08:50):
I'm like, of course I like sushi. And because of
this one x I had, I became a huge fan
of Japanese food. Like, I know you're not a sushi guy,
but I am like I could house him all you
can eat sushi, spicy tuna, salmon, you name it, I'm
down with it. But it was only because an ex
was like way into it. So I think food, music,

(09:12):
all different types of things.

Speaker 5 (09:13):
It is so funny how ignorant and stupid you are
as a younger man. Because it was one of the
sales guys in my early radio come up that took
me out for lunch because I did a good job
for one of his clients as a you know, promotions
guy in radio. He's like, yeah, we're gonna have to
take you out for some Thai food. I'm not even

(09:33):
joking you, bro. I thought I had to wear a
tie because he was like a you know, a suit
and tie kind of guy.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
My food.

Speaker 5 (09:39):
Hold on, you know what I'm gonna hit. I'm gonna
hit up that guy right now. And tell him he
changed my life because I'm a fan till this day.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
Man Thai food. I only wore a sweatshirt today, idiot.
Let's go on. Rick, you're like twenty something years old.
You're an idiot. Yeah, Rick, you're on in Rio. What's up, buddy?

Speaker 6 (10:02):
Hey, what's going on?

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Guys? Hey?

Speaker 6 (10:03):
So you kind of stole my thunder. My wife got
me listening to country music, and I told myself I
would never listen to that stuff. And then once I
started listening to it, it kind of grew on me.
And then when you start to listen to it, you
do well. At least I do the same thing they do.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
You know.

Speaker 6 (10:20):
I drink, hang out with my buddies, you know life zzy,
that that kind of thing.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
Dude, that's a that's such a great answer, Rick, and
I really appreciate you calling.

Speaker 4 (10:28):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Because my wife is from South Texas. I'm from nowway
right my wife. So when I first started dating my wife, Sarah,
she's from New Bronfels, Texas, in between San Antono and Austin.
I'm a New York kid. I was pumping my fist
with the guidos in my hometown. I listened to one
oh three five KTU and Z one hundred and Hot

(10:50):
ninety seven. Like we're talking like I'm a New York
kid that the extent of my music knowledge is like
pop stuff and you know, a little rock and some
hip hop. When I started dating my wife, to sort
of a press her, I'm like, all right, let me
learn some country and I'll be honest. I feel like
I enjoy country music more now than the other genres
of music I used to like.

Speaker 4 (11:10):
So music is a big thing.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
I I never listened to a lick of country music
until my wife, and just the other day I was
we were hanging with Zach Brown, so yeah, here we go.

Speaker 5 (11:20):
Well, like Rich said, we grew up working in New
York and surrounded by Jersey guidos, we weren't exposed to
country music, and yeah, I'm more open to it. I
do like that song Let's Talk About Me because I'm
a self centered sort of guy by Toby Keith.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
I like that.

Speaker 5 (11:37):
One, but I feel like that resonates with me because
I don't really care about what you have to say.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
And you only don't you only drink out of a
red solo cup as well.

Speaker 5 (11:49):
Sometimes, yeah, sometimes you know what rich it actually expands
a little further.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
We're given credit.

Speaker 5 (11:55):
I guess where it's due, when and how we converted
to something else, like my love of boxing. Like it's
forcing you to think because you're like, well, where did
I get it from my family?

Speaker 4 (12:05):
My friends?

Speaker 5 (12:07):
It really obviously came from my uncles. I go up
strounded by Mexican uncles who loved Julio Sesar Chavez and
Roberto Duran and all these legends on there come up
right and those Tyson Chavez not Chavz Junior Chaves days
is what pulled me in. But dude, is boxing faded away?

(12:28):
You know who brought me back? Hardcore? And you'll remember
this because it was within the span of our show.
I was always a fan. I credit my uncles, they
converted me into a boxing fan. But what brought me
back was TRIPLEJ. Dude, Triple G really brought me back
and made me rediscover my love of boxing again. And
I'm sure people have that sort of mindset too, where like,

(12:49):
you know, I fell off my team and then this
guy came along and he brought me back, or maybe
an athlete converted your allegiance and alliance to a different.
Maybe you're such a such a Joe Burrow guy, you
now root for the Bengals because he's so undeniably cool
and great in your mind, like it could be an
athlete that just converted you as well.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Well.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
I'm not a fan of giving you credit. But before
you and I became pals, like, I watched boxing, but
back the you know what, I watched a Tyson pay
per view or a big one.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
I know a lot about boxing and really enjoy it.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
Because you enjoyed boxing, and because of you, we started
doing a lot of events for ESPN and now Fox
Sports in the boxing and UFC world. But I was
not into the fight game at at all the way
I am now. Before you and I were friends, so hey, friendships, relationships,
family members.

Speaker 4 (13:41):
They gave him even.

Speaker 5 (13:42):
Though I was losing interest rich and I'm telling you,
Triple G's dominance and the fact that he was so
unassuming and beating everyone's ass at one point got me
so excited about it again.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
And I know what riding that ever, since.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
You know what it is, it's a it's also, yeah,
I want to reverse engineer this. It also makes you realize, well, crap,
would I love that I just don't know it. And
I and like, I'm thinking, like, man, if I oh,
I got one, if I love the fight game and
country music and things that I was reluctant to like
growing up. I thought of this because, like I said,

(14:14):
my brother going through a tough time a divorce. I
was trying to talk to him about, Like, hey man,
there's so many cool positive things ahead. Man, you got
to you know, a bright path ahead, little brother, I said,
think of all the things that some new awesome woman
might introduce you to that you don't even know yet.

Speaker 4 (14:32):
He may love some mamt does not even know it.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
You might meet some hot Latina chick that introduced you
to stuff. You might meet someone that introduces you to
stuff in the bedroom or even something like I asked
my brother Go was not saying one skiing or snowboarding.

Speaker 4 (14:45):
He's like, well, nemb really like what.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
If you meet some girl that's like big into that scene?
Like you could be introduced into a fun world of things.

Speaker 4 (14:54):
And you just don't know it. Again, I'm a quido
from New Jersey.

Speaker 5 (14:59):
We live in La half Fato Loco Steve Cavino and
I did a girl from Idaho and her.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
Dad big Potato fan.

Speaker 5 (15:09):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, sweet Potato and her dad who
listens to us on ninety nine to nine out there
in Idaho. Len took me fly fishing one time, and
I was feeling kind of flying my sweet waiters and
is that what they're called? Yeah, and my sweet little
fisherman hat. I'd never done anything like that before, like

(15:29):
in the water, just standing there. Dude, our boy Henry
Winkler talks about it all the time, like how he
fell in love with it. I actually said to myself,
this is great. I missed out on my whole life
doing this. I can't wait to do that again. I
felt like the Roy Hobbs of flyfish. Now I caught
twelve on my first day.

Speaker 4 (15:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
Actually, you know what this conversation is just a great
reminder of and we can take your phone calls and
move along. But what it does is it reminds you
that there are probably so many things that you would
love or your reluctance is holding you back from a
passion like again, fly fishing, snowboarding, a certain genre of music,
a certain type of food. You might date a girl,

(16:07):
You might date a certain girl from a different culture
and be like wow, I love that food.

Speaker 4 (16:15):
You know that, Danny G.

Speaker 3 (16:17):
You gave us an example off the air when we
were in the kitchen just now. You said, when you
in your early days of mixing and turntables, you said
there was a guy that you turned onto the Raiders.

Speaker 7 (16:27):
Yeah, I mean, I've converted several people to the dark side.

Speaker 5 (16:34):
I think about that a lot, Man, because of the
love that you share and express on the show.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
I don't really claim a team.

Speaker 5 (16:42):
I just sort of watch matchups like I watched fights,
and we talk about them so much. I feel like
I'm always rooting for them for you, so I have to,
and of course the Latino, the Mexican background and fans
that they have.

Speaker 7 (16:58):
I'm like Raiders, and you pay attention to the Lakers
now too, Lakers.

Speaker 5 (17:03):
Like I'm there and Rich's forty nine ers. You know,
I'm always paying attention to them too. But I could
see Danny G converts a lot of people.

Speaker 7 (17:10):
Well, I liked what you said earlier in this segment, Covino,
where you just let it breathe, let it be, don't
push it on people, let them decide if they like
it or not. If they go somewhere with you for
the first time this turntable guy Rich back when I
was building hip hop radio stations, DJ Devine in the mix,
big time turn, big time turntable guy. He slept with

(17:31):
Vinyl records. It's all he cared about. And he would
see me being very passionate about the Raiders and he's like, dude,
I've never even really watched an NFL game, And I said,
I'm taking you. I was a season ticket holder in Oakland.
I brought him to the coliseum, didn't push it on him, nothing,
just let him experience the parking lot, at the tailgating,
the actual atmosphere, which was ridiculous inside the Oakland Coliseum.

(17:53):
By the time he got back to Ventura and he
got home, he was like, dude, I'm hooked. He started
wearing Raiders gear. He watched all the game, and then
I found out a couple of years later he was
a season ticket holder. Look at that and he went
from not knowing anything about football like Taylor Swift to
all of a sudden.

Speaker 4 (18:08):
Nel Davis.

Speaker 3 (18:08):
At least I send you a cookie or something. He
should have one at a time, I.

Speaker 4 (18:13):
Heard DJ what's his name, DJ Elite, what's his name?
DJ Divine, DJ.

Speaker 5 (18:18):
Divine does have an Al Davis haircut. Now, so that
was the giveaway.

Speaker 4 (18:21):
Yeah, let's go to your phone calls. Phones are lift.

Speaker 3 (18:24):
Let's go through him quick. We'll start with arrogant Ohio converted.

Speaker 8 (18:29):
Now we got do it.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
What's up man man?

Speaker 8 (18:31):
So I in two thousand and four, I went to
Eastern Kentucky University. I fell in love with a girl
named Kelly that was on a cross country team, and
I never ran a day in my life. She ran
twelve miles a day and I was like, well, I'm
going to get into running because that's what she's about.
So I started running every day after work. I'd run, like,
you know, a couple of miles and I got up
to six miles and I was like, she's gonna love me.

(18:52):
Sheila loved me, and then she started dating this other
guy and I haven't ran a day in my life since.
And I'm forty.

Speaker 4 (19:00):
I just kept running the guys Forrest Gump.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
But now, Yeah, you do things to impress, and sometimes
at stakes, sometimes it doesn't. Let's go to a guy
we haven't heard from him in a minute. Our pal
Sean and Sacramento.

Speaker 4 (19:11):
What's up, my man, Hey, Shawn?

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Yeah, my tyro high Row brother. Glad to hear y'all
with the four peed on Dan Patrick in the morning. Man,
real quick, I got some quick hitters. Man actually got
to do with y'all. Coveno the way he used to
always talk about triple see triple cringe got me watching
UFC every damn Saturday, just man kept piping it during
during rolling into the weekend. Man. And then the other

(19:37):
thing too, my man, My man got me on these edibles.
You already know. Man, when you had that bad tooth agridge,
you just kept talking about all your little home remedies
trying to solve that issues. You got me into that, man,
much better than smoke and keep your girl from complaining
about the smell. And then the number one thing man, Actually,
you guys kind of kind of touched on it. My
girl got me into just food.

Speaker 8 (19:58):
Man.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
I used to think that like going to McDonald even
in fanc You're taking her such a tole was the thing.
She was like, Bro, I've been to Thailand, I've been
to Rome. Let's go take a trip. And now we're
doing it every year, just just blasting out taking vacations
like my manco vinoon right now to try new food
and new experiences. Man, it's all about people. It's all
about the food.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
You know, Sean, you brought you brought up two great examples.
My dad thought. My dad's most elaborate vacation was probably
like the Poconos with my mom. My dad got remarried
later he's been around the world with his new wife,
and I always think, like, Wow, my dad, when my
dad got remarried, opened up a world of traveling, right,
she influenced if she converted him to traveler. And I'll

(20:38):
be honest, You're not the only one, Sean. When I
when I said, you know, I don't really feel like
drinking much anymore. And I'm like, you know what, Popping
an edible feels like a better option. He's not the
only one. I have friends are like, yo, Man, I'm
with you. What are those edible drinks? The pbr ones
are the best ones, best ones you got?

Speaker 4 (20:54):
You got me on those. I'm not gonna lie about that.
Jeremy and Indiana, what's up Jeremy?

Speaker 9 (20:58):
Hey, how's it going? Guys?

Speaker 4 (20:59):
What's up? Other?

Speaker 9 (21:01):
Hey? So my wife she comes from a whole family
of farmers, and uh, when we got together Saturday morning,
When we first got together Farmers Market, I was like,
what what, I've never been to that before?

Speaker 7 (21:14):
My wife, what are we doing?

Speaker 9 (21:16):
We got college football on Saturday morning, got game day,
and now it's like thirty years later. Here I am
Saturday morning. I'm waking her up out of bed and
go to the farmers.

Speaker 4 (21:28):
Let's go the Farmers Mark, Honey. I mean they are fun.

Speaker 10 (21:32):
Maybe you both you can do the Farmer's market, then
you can watch college football.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
We want to eat the strawberries you bought? Is Is
there a better comba than that? Mitch in Jersey?

Speaker 4 (21:39):
What's up? Mitch?

Speaker 2 (21:41):
Cooling? Guys?

Speaker 5 (21:41):
How you doing?

Speaker 2 (21:43):
I got I got in smoothed it with a thirty
eight special. I'm brothers, you know, and it's Tom pay
was one of my favorites. But as though when I
go down.

Speaker 8 (21:52):
And see my family in Virginia, my brother was Sisterly's mom.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
Progress is so there's no way I can take country
music and one guy who actually there's two guys like
the series Latest Takeoff just you know, for the Future.

Speaker 8 (22:06):
Or Stilling Gable.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
I think they're gonna they're gonna be released those two.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
I bet I'm gonna don't that that could be an
interesting one. Thank you, Mitch, Jess and I Jesse, what's up?

Speaker 9 (22:18):
Hey, what's up guys?

Speaker 6 (22:20):
A few years years ago, I got my wife into
a comic and now she comes to all the Marvel
movies with me, and it's just such.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
A fun time.

Speaker 3 (22:29):
You know, that's one that you know, I'll be honest,
it's one of my weaknesses. I'm not much into the
Marvel universe or all that stuff, and I know I'd
probably love it, And I feel like as my son
gets a little older, I may try to dive in
to all that as well. I think you just need
someone to push you sometimes.

Speaker 5 (22:44):
Well, you know what it is, rich Like we often talk
about lack of chemistry and sports like, losing is contagious,
something happens, everyone starts slumping.

Speaker 4 (22:53):
Passion is contagious.

Speaker 5 (22:55):
So it just takes that right person that you respect
or that you're willing to change for it, be open
to and it matters how much passion they have to
convert you in this way, they're gonna have an influencer
they're not. And you know, if you're open to it,
you reap all the benefits.

Speaker 4 (23:12):
All right, let's wrap with Joey and Florida.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
Then we got spots Midweek Major and a controversial story
about the Minnesota Viking.

Speaker 4 (23:19):
So a lot of fun coming up. But Joey wrapping up.

Speaker 3 (23:21):
Man Kelsey has made Taylor Swift a football fanatic, actual fan. Yeah,
like an actual fan who's been that influence in your life,
big fan.

Speaker 6 (23:31):
Like you guys over there.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
But I want to know, yo, did do you think
got robbed one or two of the fights and the.

Speaker 3 (23:39):
First one he got by the way one? I think
he won both. I think Triple G won both of
those fights. Fun fact, we watched one of those fights
at Spearmt Rhino in Vegas and I was so it
was funny because the minute the fight was over, like
all of a sudden, the lights go off and the
girls come right back out.

Speaker 5 (23:55):
It was the weirdest thing, hilarious. Yeah, but he won
at least one of those fights. So hey, I just
realize I'm a Triple G, Triple C and a Triple
H fan. Rich Maybe there's a theme going on. We'll
get the Entry again and some Triple X Covino and
rich In for Dan Patrick again. Midweek Major. The biggest
stories in the world of sports and pop culture. We

(24:15):
get you involved. We do that next, and we talk
to Minnesota Vikings. We got more CNR in for Dan Patrick.

Speaker 1 (24:21):

Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific

Polly and Tony Foodsco Show.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (24:37):
But instead of us telling you how great we are,
here's how Dan Patrick described us when he came on
our show.

Speaker 4 (24:43):
Quick, knowledgeable and funny, opinionated.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
What are you doing interrupting our promo? Yeah, it wasn't
talking about you.

Speaker 6 (24:51):
You took those clubs totally out of context.

Speaker 11 (24:53):
Oh yeah, well after this promo, I'm gonna take you
out and beat you.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
Let me put this into context. Shut up. Yeah.

Speaker 11 (25:01):
Anyway, just listening to the Pauly and Tony Fusco Show

Speaker 5 (25:06):

Speaker 5 (25:29):
I'm in Lake Tahoe right now, but we're live from
the Fox Sports Radio studios back in Los Angeles.

Speaker 4 (25:36):
Most cars on the road could use a little TLC.

Speaker 5 (25:39):
At MAKO, we bring your car back to life with
affordable paint jobs and light collision repairs.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
Get a free estimate today. Uh oh, better get Mako.
Uh oh.

Speaker 3 (25:48):
Hey, you know, I have the dumbest hypothetical, maybe in
the longest time, that we're gonna end the show with.
But right now it's time to get into it. I
don't want to waste time. We do it every Wednesday, Midweek.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
Major Coveno and Rich gets you over the middle of
the week when mid Week Major. I love that we
throw sports and pop culture headlines and topics at the
fellas and it's like the kids.

Speaker 6 (26:13):
Say, that's summit.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
We definitely leader see it. Our score mid Week Major.

Speaker 7 (26:21):
I gotta go really quick here to give Spotty eight
full minutes.

Speaker 4 (26:24):
What am I gonna do with all that time?

Speaker 7 (26:25):
We usually roll the two Big Red Love dice at
the main studio to see who gets first take. But
Coveno's in Lake Tahoe this morning. Rich, you're in the
Home La studio, so you get home court action.

Speaker 9 (26:36):
Here.

Speaker 7 (26:36):
I'm gonna flip Ben Maller's famous penny.

Speaker 4 (26:39):
Where'd you get that from? You call it in the air?

Speaker 3 (26:41):
Rich, go uh tails because I like a nice days.

Speaker 7 (26:45):
It's actually heads like your big head. That means Coveno
gets to go first. And now, ladies and gentlemen, the
most famous person besides Judy Bloom from Scotch plains New
Jersey Spotty boy.

Speaker 4 (26:58):
I guys, are you ready? Well, we talked about it already.

Speaker 10 (27:02):
The biggest news of the day is the new podcast
drop of New Heights, featuring Taylor Swift alongside her boyfriend
and brother boyfriend's brother. We've been getting teachered all week,
including a new album announcement.

Speaker 6 (27:13):
Well.

Speaker 10 (27:14):
In the latest tease, Taylor Swift has seen poking fun
at the quote male sports fans who blow a gasket.
When Taylor Swift appears on screen during the Cheese Gapes,
she says, quote, I think we all know there's one
thing that male sports fans want to see in their
spaces and on their screens.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
It's more of me.

Speaker 10 (27:33):
Fans of course are going crazy overseeing Travis and Taylor
being together and noting that it's the first time that
they've seen Taylor and Jason interacs. So people of course
are super excited about this. Drops later today at seven
pm Eastern Time.

Speaker 4 (27:47):
Midweek or major. Anything Taylor Swift like it or not
is major.

Speaker 5 (27:53):
It's gonna break me all sorts of podcast numbers and records.
And I don't know if this is our first ever
podcas cast appearance, but Taylor Swift on a podcast huge news.
And her coming at the football fans and addressing something
that we all experience also major news. But look, in
a football fans defense, it was a little overkilled in

(28:14):
the beginning, a lot of overkill. But most of those
fans that were complaining are the beer helmet type of fan.

Speaker 4 (28:20):
So I mean, doesn't really matter what they think anyway.

Speaker 5 (28:23):
But I'm glad she's addressing it because it was a thing,
and I think it's major.

Speaker 4 (28:28):
So many people tuning in for this, how could it
not be good? It's it's so major major.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
The reality is guys are gonna listen to their podcast anyway,
And I see women on social media saying things like
I can't even like women are gonna listen to this.
It's gonna break records. You could roll your eyes all
you want. I just saw that the Travis Kelce Jason
Kelce podcast Instagram page gained three hundred and twelve thousand

(28:57):
new followers since its announcements was made US Major.

Speaker 4 (29:00):
So so it was.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
Crazy just based off of the announcement they got what
one hundreds of thousand new Instagram followers.

Speaker 5 (29:09):
Rich is not about like the juice that they're dropping again,
the new album's coming out of all that stuff. It's
they're letting you in on their chemistry and their live interaction.

Speaker 4 (29:18):
That's the thing.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
I mean, as corny as it sounds, we've never really
seen them interact.

Speaker 4 (29:24):
That's it. Then there you go again.

Speaker 5 (29:25):
You're gonna say so you don't have to like it,
but there's a lot of people that do. And that's major.

Speaker 10 (29:29):
It's gonna be even more I roll you think, yeah,
maybe so probably all right. We always say that we
leave Michael Phelps off the list of goats. Well, the
swimming Goat had some fun yesterday by accepting the Baltimore
Ravens invitation for swimming lessons, so members of the team
sent out a plead of Phelps after taking a dip
in their new under Armour Performance Center recovery pool, and Phelps,

(29:50):
being a diehard Baltimore fan, was happy to volunteer. Several
videos released of Phelps with members of the team teaching
them sort of how to navigate the pool. They also
had some friendly competition where they raced. Of course, he
gave them a huge head start and only swim underwater.
After the whole thing, he was asked if any of
the team would be Olympic Team worthy, and of course
he said, none of them. Even though they're all great athletes,

(30:12):
none of them would he even make it close to
the Olympic team for swimming. So fun video to check
out on Raven's social Midweek or major.

Speaker 4 (30:19):
It's sort of mid. I'm not mad at the story.

Speaker 5 (30:21):
I don't think it's major news, but I do like
the fact that you acknowledge we don't include him in
the Goat conversation, and we should. He's a good dude.
The story just isn't that that booming to me?

Speaker 4 (30:34):
Rich? How about you?

Speaker 3 (30:35):
I think it's a little more than it's it's midplus.
How about that it's not major we're creating someday I
am and Kavino's right. Michael Phelps Olympic you know legend.
What was the only bad press he ever got? He
was called with weed. Like, Michael Phelps seems like a
great fella. And what I think is cool about this story,
Kavi know, is that I love when I see people

(30:58):
cross over to their passions. Like if he's a big
Ravens fan, what a cool moment for him? Like he's
still Michael Phelps. But if he's a Baltimore Ravens fan,
if he's able to go there and be like, yeah,
I'll teach the Ravens how to swim, I think it's
a cool mom for him, you know.

Speaker 10 (31:11):
Yeah, So on the screen, I saw John Burnhall actor
John Burnenthal's hanging out of Commander's training camp.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
To Yeah, the Punisher himself is a Commander's fan. We
talked to Joe Manganello once and I remember him the
Magic Mike saying that he loves the Steelers more than anything.

Speaker 4 (31:25):
So what's cool to see?

Speaker 5 (31:26):
Yeah, two worlds Collade rap for mations. Wait when you
see like crossover episodes and yeah, and and Superstar is
showing their fandom, and it's it's.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
Always cool, dude.

Speaker 3 (31:37):
I remember Chris Pratt, not to name drop, Chris Pratt
was on a show talking about his love of the
Seahawks once.

Speaker 4 (31:42):
So it's like, I love the crossover, so pretty cool.

Speaker 10 (31:45):
Well, speaking of crossovers and the Superstar fandom, actor Denzel
Washington Best Actor and Best Actor Ever, had some strong
words strong words for Cowboy owner Jerry Jones yesterday during
his appearance on First Take, So Denzel's out promote his
new Spike Lee movie Highest to Lowest, and Denzel, a
huge Cowboys fan, took his time to call out owner

(32:07):
Jerry Jones for his lingering contract.

Speaker 4 (32:09):
Disputes about money.

Speaker 10 (32:11):
He said, quote, there's a box office and there's oscars.
Jerry been a while, huh eight been to the show,
you wouldn't know what it is to win. And he said,
I love the Cowboys, really love them, and this is
why I feel this way. Went on to reference the
poster of his new movie, saying all money ain't good money,
directing that towards Jerry Jones. Maybe so, maybe Denzel's trying

(32:32):
to work for that. Michael Parsons contract get that extension going,
So midweek or major.

Speaker 5 (32:37):
I think it's major. We talked about the Cowboys today.
For him to express the feelings of Cowboys fans publicly,
coming from a big actor, the best actor ever, like Denzel,
it says a lot. But I think it's poorly time
because today Jerry Jones announced that he survived stage four
cancer and has no more tumors. You know, they might

(33:01):
not be winning a lot of games this year, but
he did beat cancer, which included four surgeries, and he
battled for what like ten years. So people are sort
of feeling good for the guy, whether they like him
or not. And today the story comes out that Denzel's
talking smack about him.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
You know what, out Pat?

Speaker 4 (33:16):
That's twenty five thousand dollars outpat.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
I you know, I agree with you bed timing, but
I think a mid story because it just just again.
I think it is cool though, that we do see
that no matter who you are, you have a team,
and the fact that he's a Cowboys guy and he's like,
come on, Jerry. I think, like I said before, it's
not as fun when the Cowboys are projected to be mediocre.

(33:39):
It takes away the fun of but when the Cowboys
are good or bad, it there's an angle.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
When they're mediocre, it's gonna stink, all right.

Speaker 10 (33:49):
Tom Brady has opened up more about his first year
as a broadcaster, heading into year two in just a
few short weeks.

Speaker 4 (33:55):
Can you believe it?

Speaker 2 (33:55):
So?

Speaker 10 (33:56):
Looking back, he said, quote, I had a great year.
I had the best team, and I had so many
teammates that helped me through that first year. He said,
there was a lot of growing pains through the year,
just in terms of prep going on air. Things you
mess up and there's mistakes that he made, and it's
a lot like being an NFL cornerback, he said. You
can go out there prepare all you want, but once
you hit a real game, it's like, quote, oh my god,

(34:17):
it's a lot different and a lot faster.

Speaker 4 (34:18):
Where am I looking? What am I doing? He said.

Speaker 10 (34:20):
His weeks go on more and more. He felt a
little bit more comfortable, but he said, you know, obviously,
the trickiest part of being a broadcaster is trying to
figure out what the audience wants or expects. So if
you want to see more of the Tom Brady interview,
you can check it out. It's put Joe Klatt on
YouTube Big Noon Conversations, midwek or.

Speaker 5 (34:36):
Major, Absolutely, major, definitely because it's Tom Brady and he's
a goat in his own right, and it's cool to
hear his vulnerability, even though it's hard to say his humility.
I guess in this new situation where even Tom Brady,
where everything seems to come easy for the guy, struggles
sometimes and he put himself in a situation where he's

(34:58):
really trying to get better at this.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
I think that's cool to hear for anybody.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
Yeah, I think it's major because everything, no matter what
it is, it's going to take work and discipline.

Speaker 4 (35:08):
Right. Did you say? In a related story Real Quick,
Drew Brees said.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
That if he were to be an analyst right now,
he would immediately be top three.

Speaker 4 (35:16):
Did you see this?

Speaker 3 (35:19):
Saying that he has perspective on the game more so
than anyone he could imagine, and he goes, if I
if I did it right now, I would immediately be
top three. Not to sound selfish, but I know what
I bring, so like you know, I love the confidence.
So maybe we'll see Drew Brees before you know it,
and then he'll see those Tom Brady struggles in the
beginning right.

Speaker 4 (35:37):
Not as easy as it looks, but Drew Brees personable guy. Yeah,
not impossible. Thank you. Spot.

Speaker 3 (35:42):
Now there's a story Spot didn't get to that I
do want to rap with for the last part of
the show, and it has to do with the Minnesota
Vikings and cheerleaders.

Speaker 4 (35:51):
So we'll get to that next.

Speaker 3 (35:52):

Speaker 4 (37:47):
We really do.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
Yeah, it means a lot to us. Man I wanted
to bring up one thing before we get out of here, Cove.
I know it might take longer to really get into it,
but there's Minnesota Viking fans that are up and on
about the male cheerleaders that are now.

Speaker 4 (38:03):
Being like focused on did you see the story?

Speaker 5 (38:06):
I think that's sort of the story though, it's like
they're primarily focusing on them, which is rubbing.

Speaker 4 (38:12):
People the wrong way.

Speaker 5 (38:14):
You got to rub people the right way, like Johnny
gil Yeah, but what are your thoughts? Fox Sports Radio Nation,
we have ours. Minnesota Vikings have announced that Blaze Chic
wasn't that an American gladiator? Blaze Blaze Shek will join
the twenty five twenty six cheerleading roster for the Vikings,
but he's not the only man on the squad. The
team also lists Louis Khan amongst this members and male

(38:37):
cheerleaders are becoming more and more common in the NFL,
but some people are voicing their opinion in a negative
way on social media. They want to cancel their season tickets.
Fans are voicing their frustration on x and you know,
it's becoming a bit of a story. But male cheerleaders
again have been around for a minute, are not the

(39:00):
only team. A lot of teams have male cheerleaders. And
look at college football, it's always the dude with the
tight shirt and the big megaphone looking thing, you know,
grabbing girls and pushing them up by their butt.

Speaker 4 (39:12):
You know, I look and I get that.

Speaker 5 (39:14):
And as as a cheer dad, I guess I have
a teenage daughter who's cheerleading for her high school team.

Speaker 4 (39:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (39:22):
I get everyone has their opinions, but I think the
most solid squads are the ones that have the assistance
and strength of a blaze cheek right, because it's no
longer the stuff, it's the time you get noticed out there.
The Can I give you the flip argument of this, absolutely,
because I stunts and everything it does help out with

(39:42):
the squad.

Speaker 4 (39:43):
I don't care.

Speaker 3 (39:45):
I know, I don't care at all if there are
male male cheerleaders, like stay in your own lane, who
really cares? However, I will say this cheerleading competitions, which
my wife did in college. My wife was a college cheerleader. Yeah,
they're doing stunts and flips and dips and all the
and they need the strength of a man for certain moves.
In the NFL and Pro sports. They're not really doing that.

(40:06):
They're doing like more choreograph fun little dances in between
TV timeouts. And we gotta remember watch a Dallas Cowboy
cheerleading documentary, those debt docuseries.

Speaker 4 (40:16):
Oh America, Sweetheart Cheerleaders.

Speaker 3 (40:19):
We can't deny the fact that it really is primarily
eye candy. And there's a lot of grown men that
are like that's also from a place of ignorance.

Speaker 4 (40:27):
And I understand we're talking about but they're super talent.
They are talented. They are super talents.

Speaker 5 (40:34):
They're former dancers and gymnasts like so much to get
to that level. No, they are, But I'm saying again,
I know the world of cheerleading competition.

Speaker 4 (40:43):
Again, my wife was very involved with that back of
the day.

Speaker 3 (40:45):
But the NFL and a lot of the team cheerleaders,
it's very highly competitive, but it's they're not doing these
stunts like a competition. It's more creating a vibe, creating
a scene. And and I think that I I don't
think anyone should cancel any thing. That's extremely ridiculous right
to be like, oh good's all my tickets? What type
of I got a homophobe? Or you to do something

(41:07):
like that. But my point is it is I can'ty
for a primarily dude audience primarily I don't know.

Speaker 4 (41:14):
And we're painting broodstrokes.

Speaker 5 (41:15):
But part of the debate is, no, it's not even
that there's male cheerleaders because they're not the first or
the last.

Speaker 4 (41:22):
Is that they're they're like the centerpiece of the team. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (41:25):
I don't think those are who they're promoting. I don't
think anyone really wants that, alight. Well, maybe we'll just
other things to worry about more tomorrow and some more
fun and NFL and baseball and hypotheticals. Thanks for letting
us feeling for deep people. See tomorrow or even there
you baby, see you in the Promised Land. Goodbye, Damn
