Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio. Welcome to the program. It's our one on
this Tuesday, a lot to look back upon and look ahead. Two.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
The gang's all here ready to go, are Fab five,
Fritzy Seat and Marv Pauliers truly the backroom guys. And
we'll dive into a couple of topics here. Your phone
calls are always welcome. Operator Tyler sitting by eight, seven
to seven to three. DP Show stat of the Day
is always brought to you by Panini America. They are
the official trading cards of the DP Show. First Hour

(00:32):
brought to you by Maco. Get a makeover, dense faded paint.
They got you covered. Get a free estimate today. Uh oh,
better get Maco Play the day, Poll question stat of
the Day, All of that forthcoming. We know better than
to overreact to preseason football, but early glimpses of the Bengals,
if there's any indication, it looks like some previous issues

(00:56):
are still present, present and accounted for. That's a problem.
Offensive line doesn't inspire much confidence. The defense we know
about that with Trey Hendrickson. Even with him, they're not
a great defense. So the flaws define the team and
they define their ceiling. I know they made it to
a super Bowl a few years ago, but these flaws

(01:17):
bleed into the regular season, and now you could have
a ripple effect. And I've said before, you sign up
your best receivers. Joe Burrows signed up, and you kind
of have a great team. But kind of have a
great team means you're always going to be on that
border of eight nine or nine and eight, and that's

(01:37):
not any way to exist in the NFL. You got
a super Bowl caliber quarterback, you got playmakers, but Cincinnati
will stay vulnerable because offensive line, and certainly without Trey Hendrickson.
I don't know if he's going to be traded. Felt
like that maybe there's an initiative by some members of
the media to speculate on what they want now and

(02:00):
maybe it's a first round draft pick, and maybe it's
a defensive player. I still go back to if you
knew you weren't going to sign him to this kind
of money, then why didn't you trade him prior to
the draft, because you could have gotten more for Trey Hendrickson.
Now you've got to stand off, and Cincinnati is either
eight to nine or nine and eight. It feels like

(02:21):
and holding on for dear life. But watching last night
with the Commanders, the Commanders without Terry McLaurin, and I
think they have a ceiling as well. You got to
have that go to guy when all else fails, game
on the line, I can go that guy is going
to have my back. Look at all of these quarterbacks,
wide receiver combinations, whatever you know, it goes wrong, I

(02:45):
can go there. You know Brady always had that, whether
it was Gronk or Edelman. You can go down the
list of great quarterbacks. You know, Montana always had Jerry Rice.
That's what you need. And I think Terry McLaurin needing
that go to guy who all he does is show
up and play and perform, but he wants to get
paid thirty million dollars. He wants to get paid with

(03:07):
the other receivers. He's not justin Jefferson and knows that,
but he's every bit Brandon Ayuk and he probably says,
why can't I get that? I'd rather have him than
DK Metcalf. But the Steelers, you know, probably overpaid for.
So you start to look at these now a couple
of weeks away from actually playing football. Now it becomes

(03:28):
a real issue. I still think Micah Parsons is going
to get done. I don't think they're going to trade him.
I think they'd be crazy to trade him. I think
it's once again Jerry is going to let this play out,
get the publicity, swoop in and say look what I did. Now,
let's go play football. But the other situations, it's it's

(03:50):
tricky because it's the Bengals, and the Bengals always make
it tricky, and then you have the Commanders. You do
have new ownership here, and I was surprised that it's
gone this long unless they feel like he's not the guy.
But if he's not the guy, then why didn't you
do something about this before. That's what I don't understand.
And if I'm Trey Hendricks and I'm probably saying I
got a little more leverage. Every time the Bengals play,

(04:12):
I get more leverage. Will they trade him? I guess
there's a real chance that they could. Terry McLaurin, I
have no insights into that situation. Micah Parsons, I think
that he gets signed. But now we're getting to that
point where they should be in camp and they should
be practicing in camp. This is when you get injuries.
When guys don't play, then all of a sudden, regular

(04:35):
season starts and they go out there and they're going crazy.
That's when you get hurt. All right. So we'll have
a poll question, Play of the day, stat of the day,
all of that forthcoming, and Seaton, will you do the
honors by the way, we say good morning, those watching
on Peacock and those listening on our radio affiliates over
four hundred cities that carry the program, Seaton, what's poll

(04:56):
question today?

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Which team feels closer to a Super Bowl win? The
Bengals are the commanders? Commanders that crazy commanders? Yeah, Commanders, Yeah, commanders.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Even though they're in a very tough division, obviously with
the Eagles there, I think the Cowboys will be I
think they'll be dangerous in a way that they're gonna
win a couple of games maybe they shouldn't, and they'll
lose a couple of games that they shouldn't. Then you
have the Giants, and the Giants is I said yesterday
and I'll reiterate this. Ownership needs to say to the

(05:29):
coach and GM, you guys are safe. You are coaching
next year because if they're coaching for this year to
save their job with the number one schedule in the NFL,
then I think this is going to stunt the growth
of the franchise again, because if I know that my
job is safe, Russell Wilson starts the season and that

(05:50):
if I truly believe Jackson, dark can play and I
don't have to worry about my job security if you know,
we end up, you know, with six wins this year.
But it feels like they could you could see where
somebody loses their job after ten games with the Giants,
and that's because they're going to be coaching for this
year to save their jobs and that schedule is really

(06:13):
really demanding. What else do you have, Seaton.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Uh, let's see we have here's a college football on football.
You played college football, you can have one Heisman Trophy,
your number retired by your school, or a statue.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
In front of the stadium.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Well, if I get a statue in front of the stadium,
I probably did something pretty incredible.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
True, But there are people who have statues who didn't
win Heismans, and some people some college programs don't retire
any numbers. They have rings of honor. Like Oklahoma, you
get statues.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
I guess I would want a statue now it's always there.
Go to the stadium and then you say, oh, there's Dad,
Oh there's Grandpa, So I guess his statue. Well, they
kind of creep me out whenever I'm around statues.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
It's really kind of the do you want the statue
that stays at the stadium or the statue you could
take home with you?

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Oh, the Heisman? Yeah yeah, uh yeah, I'll take the
Heisman given throughout throughout high school and college.

Speaker 6 (07:24):
Yes, Marvin, Yeah, you'll always make more money being a
Heisman Trophy winner than being a Florida State legendary.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Whatever.

Speaker 5 (07:32):
Well, I'm sorry, what not Necessarily if you're a legend
of a football program, you can go back and do
a radio shows, TV shows. You can be taken care
of either. That Heisman juice though, is sitting there carrying
in front of people. It's like, that's the decoration. It's
the coolest trophy there is. I think Heisman's gonna win
the pole, but it's a toughie statue is cool?

Speaker 7 (07:52):
Yes, Todd, you're always introduced as Heisman Trophy winner. You're
part of that elite group. The statue sometimes, as you
were alluded to, sometimes come out weird. It doesn't look
anything like you, and just to be able to display
that into forever be when you go talk to Let's
just assume.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
It's a great looking statue exactly like me.

Speaker 7 (08:10):
I would still want the heisman.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
Chos. Well, that doesn't mean it's gonna look good, it'll
look exactly like you. That's a good yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Seat, Even if the statue did look good and looked
exactly like you, it's gonna take exactly somewhere between three
to five minutes for a bird to grab on it.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
Okay, true, true, Yeah, Maybe you know, get the heisman
stored away, loan it out to your alma mater, yes, Paul.

Speaker 5 (08:35):
A lot of colleges if you get a heisman. The
statues automatic like Oklahoma, I think Florida, Tbo Spurrier and
Danny Wirfol have statues. Ernie Davis up at Syracuse, newt
rock It, et cetera, et cetera.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
But some coaches have statues.

Speaker 5 (08:50):
Doug Flutie has a statue and it's actually to size,
by the way.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
At Boston College.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
It's actually five to nine, all right, eight seven, seven
three Show email address dpat Danpatrick dot com, twitter handle
at DP show. A couple other things. I'm watching the
game last night. First of all, Mitchell Tinsley, Hello. I
think he went to a Juco, then Western Kentucky and
then last year at Penn State and a couple of

(09:16):
years ago, and he had two touchdown receptions and he's
probably not even going to make the Bengals roster, probably
not going to make the fifty three man roster. Might
be a practice squad guy. That's why when you buy
into the preseason, you have this referendum on the preseason.
You have to caution yourself because he looked great last night,

(09:36):
and I think you know Joe Buck and Troy even
said during the broadcast, Hey, commanders, if you need a
replacement for Terry McLaurin, there's Mitchell Tinsley. He's probably not
making the roster for the Bengals. Here's another thing. There
was a play with Joe Burrow where I'm thinking, Joe,
you're experienced, okay, and you're going to take an unnecessary

(09:59):
hit in preseason. You're going to take enough unnecessary hits
in the regular season. Just go down. Nobody's a hero.
Needs to be a hero in the postseason. He already
got you know, swung around. He got hit one time
and then guys piled on him. But it you know,
trying to extend a play. Go down the greatest, the

(10:20):
greatest quarterbacks. You know in recent memory, Brady and Peyton
went down in a fetal position. It's okay, we can't
lose you. Jayden Daniels didn't throw passes. He just handed off,
didn't run in for a touchdown. But I thought it
was interesting the defensive backs kind of came towards him

(10:41):
and then treated it like it was, you know, the
NFL Pro Bowl where they were just gonna touch him
a little bit, and like, hey, all right, get in
there and get into the end zone. I get out
of here. We don't want to hit you. Yeah, Paul.

Speaker 5 (10:53):
It was the weirdest looking play. He breaks the pocket,
Jadan Daniels starts running. He gets to about the seven,
and it's also almost like, hey, everyone thinks he's gonna slide, right,
He's gonna slide, And the DB's kind of chopped up
their steps and put their hands out and he just
went through them and they didn't.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
Get in the real hit.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
I don't know if they were going to hit him anyway,
but yeah, I thought he was going to slide. But
what you do when I see starters in the preseason,
especially quarterbacks, don't be a hero the guys who were
trying to make the team, maybe the backup quarterback, whoever
it might be. I understand the extra effort, But Joe
Burrow has nothing to prove. Jayden Daniels, even on a run,

(11:33):
has nothing to prove. But that's when you have one
of those moments where you go, there's our season right there. Also,
I'm burying the lead because Paulie comes in, and Paulie
was on a mission today. He goes, I'm going to
say it. I said, Okay, are you ready for this?
I go, okay. The Commanders have the worst uniforms in

(11:54):
the NFL, and I went wow, I wasn't expecting that
on a Tuesday. So we started to chop it up
a little bit. I said, I'd still say the Tennessee Titans.
Those aren't good uniforms and the numbers are weird, and
never been a fan of those. But Paulie is down
on the Commanders, and I said, I think the kids

(12:16):
are going to like the commander's uniforms. I think you're
showing your age, Paul.

Speaker 4 (12:20):
That could be true. You might be right about that.

Speaker 5 (12:22):
But the commander's uniforms are kind of nondescript. They're all choppy,
different looks. They're nondescript. They're not even.

Speaker 4 (12:30):
Bad cool bad. Some are ugly bad, but good.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
What is a choppy uniform.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
It's got a.

Speaker 5 (12:35):
Bunch of different elements on it. It doesn't really have stripes.
It have these dots on the shoulders that are weird.
And the colors are I don't know exactly what the
colors are. They don't look like traditional Washington burgundy and gold.
It doesn't feel burgundy issue. It feels maroonish. Marvin helped
me out.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Okay, on this one, you're the well but you're the
fashionista here.

Speaker 8 (12:58):
I am.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
No.

Speaker 6 (12:59):
I like those uniform a lot. The worst uniforms are
the Houston Texans.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
Those are bad too. They're terrible. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (13:06):
No, just we talked about nondescript. Yeah, those are not
good if you can't remember them.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
You know when I say, hey, the Texans and then
you go, okay, wait a minute, I know the helmet,
I don't. I don't know what else you know, with
the uniforms. But I think the commanders like that's a makeover.
I think they've evolved and they brought themselves into twenty
twenty four. This is good.

Speaker 5 (13:28):
I'm actually getting more upset as I look at the pictures.
There's no stripe on the pant. The pant is dark
red and it goes right to red sox. Then there's
like four stripes on the shoulder and some choppy buttons
are It's very very wonky, okay, and then the word
Washington is in font eight. It's like very small size across.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
The chap It is small. I'll grant you that. But
we were talking about the colors there. Maybe the color scheme, yes, Hud.

Speaker 7 (13:54):
The helmet also just the letter. I know the packers
can get away with it with GB, but I don't know.
I want my SEM to have some kind of cool
logo if I had a choice, that over just a
capital letter, which adds to the dismay over the mock
USC NFL uniform.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
So you think this is USC.

Speaker 7 (14:12):
It reminds me of USC, and USC can totally get
away with it, but the commanders cannot.

Speaker 8 (14:16):
It's just not.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
Working for the NFL. Okay, all right, well, Iowa State
they have those similar uniforms. Don't they like their copycats?
Oh they are okay, yes, paulm.

Speaker 4 (14:27):
But Todd has a point.

Speaker 5 (14:28):
USC's uniforms are similar colors, but they're awesome because they're
clean and they're traditional. Here's another uniform because the color
that doesn't work the Eagles. The Eagles are a great
franchise and play great football, but that color green is
kind of murky and doesn't pop, and especially when they
wear the old Kelly greens that look so much better.

(14:48):
Bad uniform, great team.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
Randall Cunningham looked even better because of the uniform that
he wore, you know, like he's one of those guys
where you go, Benn, he had a different uniform, didn't
look as form a that he looked awesome there. But
you're right, the Eagles green is too dark and there
is no pop there.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
You really don't like the Titans uniforms. You've been on
that for three.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
I do not. I do not. I do not. Yes,
i'd liked Mike Rabel there, but I did not like
those uniforms.

Speaker 6 (15:19):
Yes, Mark, sorry, skewing positive. What's your favorite NFL uniform?
I got too many of them. Yeah, as long as
you say rain.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
Raiders is great. But there's some Chargers would be probably
number one. I mean, let's take them out of you
know this conversation. They're meritis. That's the Chargers there. We
can retire those. But I'm looking for clicks, so I'd
say the Cowboys still look great, yes, Todd.

Speaker 7 (15:49):
The ones they come to mind from me, Steelers, Packers,
and when the Broncos go old school in nineteen seventy
seven orange royal blue.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
All right, thank you, Tod, Yes, Paul.

Speaker 5 (15:57):
But the Broncos generally in the past twenty years have
been terrible because they're not the eighties nineties Broncos that
were awesome and then they went wonky for decades. And
the issue is all the throwbacks that we like. The
teams will never go back permanently, never because they want
to sell them twice a season, like Tampa Bay. Who
wouldn't want to see Tampa Bay go full creamsicle. They'll
just go creamsicle a couple times a year.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
I think the New Orleans Saints are sneaky Greek too. Yep, good,
that uniform, that helmet color scheme, awesome, But that's the
bad team. Good uniform situation, which would you rather have?
I would rather have a better team. I'm going to
take the better I'd rather you know, sacrifice style over

(16:44):
substance with you know, the Eagles. I'll take the Eagles.
I don't like the uniforms, but I'll take the end result. Yes, Mormon.

Speaker 6 (16:53):
So are the Chargers basically like North Carolina of the NFL.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah, there's just uniforms where you go there,
don't do anything, don't screw it up. And I understand merchandising.
We got to get a second uniform in there, and
you know, or we have to have another alternative jersey.
But there's certain ones where you go that just keep that.
You don't need to do any variation on that. Yes, pull.

Speaker 5 (17:17):
Another example would be the forty nine Ers. It's an
odd combination of this kind of lower red scarlet red
with this tan yellow gold mix of the pant but
they look awesome.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
They pop. The Niners always look good.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
All right, let me take a break, Let me let
me take a break. Here we settle on our poll
question three hours. I knew, but I knew exactly. That's
why I waited a little bit before I brought up
the bombshell our commander's uniforms. I'm fine with them, but
I skew younger. I mean, I appeal to a younger audience.
And uh, that's why the commanders make sense to me.
They look sharp there. How about we take a break

(17:54):
and we'll come back after this on The Dan Patrick Show.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Be sure to catch the live edition of the show

Speaker 2 (18:45):
Get to your phone calls coming up. Here's a random
thought out of nowhere. Don't know why I'm thinking this way,
but I was looking once again, nobody has a more
exciting life than me. I'm so. I'm looking through Baseball
Almanac last night, now as I always do, had a cigar,

(19:06):
had some tequila, and I'm going through Baseball Almanac and
I go, how many career home runs does gian Carlos
Stanton have? He's got four hundred and forty one. And
I started to think, is gian Carlos Stanton going to
be a Hall of Famer? Get to five hundred home runs?
That used to be you got to five hundred, and

(19:28):
I kept, you know, I'm thinking, I don't think so.
I don't know if five hundred means what it used
to mean. And here I am looking at Carlos Stanton's stats.
I think he's like a two point fifty five career
hitter with four hundred and forty one home runs, And
nobody is in better shape. Who gets injured more in

(19:49):
all of sports than gen Carlos Stanton. I mean that guy.
They model statues out of him, and he's always it
feels like he's always nicked up.

Speaker 5 (19:59):
Yeah, I'm looking at stats right now. By the way,
I love how you spent your night. I think that's awesome.
Tequila and Baseball Almanac, like, yeah, retirement dream. His first
seven years in the BIGS, he made four All Star
Games and was on pace. He had an MVP second
place MVP. But then the back half of his career
has been two disappointing one All Star appearance, and you

(20:24):
kind of categorize his whole career as disappointing if you're
gonna comp it like the first eight years of Poolholz
or the first eight years of Griffy are galactic, and
then they cooled off, but not cooled off enough to
undo the first eight ten years.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
Yeah, oh well that's how I spent my night. I
did watch, you know, football, but you know, I had
my Baseball Almanac there, and my wife goes, what are
you doing. I said, I'm doing some reading. And she goes,
what are you reading? I said the Baseball Almanac And
she says, is it a book that you read? I go, no,
it's just stats. And she was like, well, I think

(21:03):
she felt sorry for me. I go, huh no, this
is great. I love doing this. Yes, yes, Marvin. Is
Paul Goldschmidt a Hall of Famer, Oh man.

Speaker 6 (21:12):
Like this generation is Jim Tomey.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
He might he might be, might be had a few
really good years out of the spotlight though. Yeah, Paul.

Speaker 5 (21:24):
He went to six All Star Games in his twenties,
Paul Goldschmidt. He also won an MVP at age thirty four,
so the back half of his career is still really strong.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
Yeah. Yeah, And you know those could be two borderline guys.

Speaker 4 (21:39):
Didn't have that in my rundown today, Carlos.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
Paul gold Smith bown. You didn't have commander's worst uniform
in Footbat's right, do you have a bottom five worst
uniforms in the NFL? Paul?

Speaker 4 (21:50):
The lack of power rankings for uniforms.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
Yes. By the way, I just saw North Carolina's football
cleats for the upcoming season. I would actually wear those
around like socially they are, Yes, Marvin.

Speaker 6 (22:05):
I am about to wear those around about Look on
eBay right now, see if anyone's selling them.

Speaker 2 (22:11):
Even though you know, if they're football cleach and you
know you're walking on the floor and you're clicking, you know, click, click, clink,
I still might wear those. I do yard work in those.
They are very very short. Okay, Paul, your bottom five
worst uniforms.

Speaker 5 (22:25):
Okay, this is in any order, but this is the nondescript,
junkie looking uniforms. This is the home uniform, not the throwback.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
He's also choppy or not.

Speaker 5 (22:34):
Okay, it could call Seaton, the Washington Commanders. Bad font
bad stenciling, bad color combination, Tennessee Titans, way too much
going on, great colors, bad mix the I almost forgot
to bring these guys up. The Arizona Cardinals jumpsuits. They
look like pajamas. There's no striping, there's no contrast. Red sox,

(22:58):
red pants, red jersey, helmet's great, fantastic helmet, the rest
of the neck down, they're awful. I forgot to mention
this one as well. The Arizona I'm sorry. The Atlanta Falcons.
The Atlanta Falcons, their stripe goes down and it's Peter's
out at the end. Yeah, they tried the atl thing

(23:18):
on the jersey with the shadow box numbers that are
way too big, terrible.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
I think they got to bring back Steve bart Kowski.

Speaker 5 (23:26):
And that's what hurts them when they played like a
Thursday Night game and they wear the throwback William Andrews
eighties uniforms that looks so great. Some people hate the Texans,
some people hate the Jaguars. Some people don't like the
Seahawks because of what they were years ago. A lot
of people don't like the Denver Broncos that kind of
remix they did last year with those choppy lightning bolt stripes.

Speaker 4 (23:50):
Yes, well, when you don't complete the process of the stripe,
it's a problem.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
Choppy, antiseptic, yep, homogenous, don't pop?

Speaker 2 (24:00):
Are they are? These fashion comments though? Do they do?
They like in Vogue or you know those magazines they
talk about you know that style is chopping.

Speaker 4 (24:09):
I don't think so.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
I haven't heard that word. I said you could have
the bottom five. You blew through that. You almost gave
me the bottom ten.

Speaker 8 (24:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (24:19):
Well, there's people who have issues. I'm checking the Twitter.

Speaker 5 (24:22):
A lot of people have an issue with the Rams
that kind of sunset yellow to white on the number.
And but it's because what the rams could look like, Well,
the Rams should look like the Dodgers. Yes, that white
should be white, not that kind of I mean I've
watched things before, sheets and they.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
Look like that. That's not a good look. There any
any other teams that make the listen.

Speaker 5 (24:47):
No, those are probably the bottom six or seven that
people generally dislike their uniforms. And someone said on Twitter,
if you turn on the TV and you look at
the uniform and you're not sure what team you're watching
for the first five or six seconds, you're failing as
the organization.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
Yes, Ton, that's part of the problem.

Speaker 7 (25:03):
We've talked about this for years. They're trying so hard
to make new uniforms and the City Edition and retro
this and all these different colors that you can't even
recognize the team calls anymore, just to sell a couple
extra shirts and jerseys. And it's just it's ridiculous that
you actually can't automatically tell sometimes who's playing in the game.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
Because then it takes five seconds to be like, oh,
that's the Chargers.

Speaker 4 (25:25):
Got it, don't have it, can't spare it.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
Chris Chrissie, even watching I can't even.

Speaker 11 (25:35):
Tell what team this is, Yes, Chris, Hey, thanks Dan
Hey on the poll, I'm going to go, like with most,
I'm gonna go Commanders boy. A year ago, who would
have thought any of us would be picking the commanders
over since and yesterday I wanted to say something. You
were up against a hard out and I didn't get
a chance. And I probably don't even need to say it,

(25:57):
but I'm going to anyway.

Speaker 12 (26:00):
I don't know.

Speaker 11 (26:02):
Yesterday's show and a lot of shows I listened to now,
I know when it became so fashionable to turn Todd
into a human Tanada. And I know it's joking. I
know most of it's joking. And I know, like old
school listeners or even new listeners, you know, loyal Dan ciples,
all the people out in Dan Nation, they know it's joking.
But I just wonder. I know I'm sensitive and some

(26:23):
of it's pretty harsh, and I'm just wondering, you know,
if it does hurt Todd's feelings. I just wanted to
throw out a few things. And the guy is relentless
at his job. He takes so much pride. He hooks
us up with great guath. He's funny, smart, great person
and one of the most important attributes to you, Dan,
I know, loyalty. There is no more more loyal person,

(26:47):
not only to his job, but I'm sure in every
aspect of his life, and over the years there's several
quintessential moments in the Dan Patrick's show history that I'll
never forget, and one was, I know he's gone through
a lot of health stuff. And there was one time
using the hospital I think it was Stomacher in Testa's
or something, and you guys weren't saying much about it,

(27:08):
and his name came up and you started to talk
about it, and it was only like four or five seconds,
but you got so emotional. And I don't know, I
love Todd and I know you love him too, And yeah,
I guess to close on a little bit of a
lighter note, I'll throw out one of my favorite things
to throw out, a quote from a pulp fiction, which
is kind of fitting Vincent Vega and his drug buddy lance.

(27:30):
You don't mess with Todd Fritz, You just don't do it.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
Watch you marry him?

Speaker 8 (27:37):
Then?

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Yeah, I love him so much, Chris want you to
marry him. Wonder who money you sit in the back
row with him? Chris. I'm glad I got the check that.

Speaker 7 (27:45):
I sent so that that worked.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
Now, that was very nice, was that, Chris. Was there
something yesterday that was said that kind of, you know,
put the wheels in motion here.

Speaker 11 (27:54):
I mean, you know, from way back when I could
listen every day, it just never was about it. It seems
like every it just seems relentless. And again, I don't
want to speak for Toddy doesn't nobody needs me to
say it. But it's just I don't know if you
were sense I don't know, a little part of it
might bother him a little bit. And I just want
to speak for I think you know the majority, and

(28:15):
I'm not talking about you guys, and I know the listeners.
It's it's it's funny and it's but I don't know,
I guess for the casual, casual listener, I just want
them to know, Yeah, guys, unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
Yes he is. That's why he's the most valuable Dan
end and the least valuable Dan. Yes, yes, but yeah,
I didn't know if there was an incident that kind
of set.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
They've all kind of blended into one incident over the
course of about thirteen years.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
I think Chris is referring to, Yeah, I think Fritzi
you doing okay. I think I'm doing okay.

Speaker 7 (28:53):
Yeah, I just you know, you have your moments where
I sometimes it feels a little overboard. But you know,
you get past that and you consider the source and
you move on.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
Okay, what if I'm the source?

Speaker 7 (29:04):
As I said, you consider the source, do you move
You can't get to you can't get to offender. People
are gonna say what they say. It's joking, but every
bit of joking is a little bit seriousness. It's it's
all good though.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
Okay, I don't think.

Speaker 7 (29:15):
I don't think I complain about it. I go about
my business. I feel very strong with who I am
and what I contribute.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
Good good, Well, then then I feel good too. You
should glad to have you. Jeff in New Orleans? Hi, Jeff?
What's on your mind?

Speaker 8 (29:33):
The morning?

Speaker 13 (29:34):
DP five ten and I was pick one seventy five
mm hmm. I just wanted to weigh in on the
worst uniform. I can't follow up with that previous collar
he I got nothing for that. But my least favorite uniform,
I think the most ugly uniform in the NFL is
the Seattle Highlighter uniforms. Those are are just obnoxious. I

(29:58):
found the controls on my TV to turn it to
black and white just to watch the game last year.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
It was just so bad. Anyways, my opinion, thank you, Jeff,
it is a little too limey for me. You know,
it's got that lime type field to it. Maybe just
a little too much. But you go back to the
old old Seattle Seahawks uniforms and they were people made

(30:23):
fun of those too, with Jim Zorn and Steve Largent.

Speaker 5 (30:27):
Yeah, Paul, I've always grown up around the Bengals having
the Bengal stripe helmets, and you grew up around the
Bengals when they had the old school, very simple look.
We've gotten used to the Bengals look over the years
and they stayed pretty consistent with it. But was it
awful in Cincinnati when they changed them.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
I think it was pretty dramatic that it was like, wow,
you see the Bengals helmets. But considering what they had
before when Paul Brown got to Cincinnati and you know,
trotted out the Bengals, it was just a boring helmet.
It was almost like an offshoot of the Cleveland Browns,
you know, similar colors. I like what the Bengals are

(31:05):
doing now, and once again, these uniforms aren't for us.
There for you know, a younger demo, and why wouldn't
you have you know, all kinds of fun colors in there,
or accentuate certain colors. This is a visual experience there
instead of and look, you can have Penn State and
there's something about Penn State that's still just classy. I'm

(31:28):
fine with that. I think you can do fun things
with the helmets now, with the paint that you use,
and you know, it's kind of layered different things that
are in the helmet. But there's still some uniforms that
should never be tinkered with the other ones. I'm okay,
go ahead, Maybe you'll find something I actually, you know,

(31:51):
looks good. I like the Cleveland Browns uniform. I think
that's a classy It's almost like the NFL version of
Penn State. You wouldn't think that that's a great looking uniform,
but I think it is. I think it looks awesome.

Speaker 12 (32:07):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
David in Cincinnati, Hi, David, what's on your mind? Hey?

Speaker 14 (32:13):
DP is this?

Speaker 8 (32:14):
Dave called from Sense and pretty much watched a lot
of that game last night. A lot of the guys
just looked like they were just standing around with their
hands on her hips while Jeff Burrow was running around
with his chicken with her head cut off. Another thing
is never really see the Bengals wear pro back in
uniforms because Willie the right not to throw back to

(32:34):
And then another thing is what about a straight up
trade between Hendrickson and Parsons. Call up Jerry Jones to
see what he's got for that.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
Well, you got to pay the other guy. If you're
not going to pay Hendrickson, then you're not gonna pay
Michael Parsons. But thank you, David. Yeah, see, Hendrickson you
can probably pay, you know, thirty million, and Michael Parsons
you're gonna pay forty two million. Jerry's not trading Michael Parsons.
The Bengals could trade Trey Hendrickson. I get that, but

(33:06):
you know, until I hear that a team is offering
Jerry something for Michael Parsons, I just think this this
will happen. It'll happen in dramatic fashion. I don't think
it will happen on a Friday. I think it'll be
Jerry will want as much airtime as he can, probably
on a Monday or a Tuesday. Be like, yep, Now

(33:26):
you can talk about it all week long as we
get ready for the Philadelphia Eagles. Let's take a break.

what's on your mind?

Speaker 16 (35:00):
Hey Dan, good morning, good morning. You know calling in
about this uniform discussion. I've got a long road trip today,
and you guys are getting me fired up, helping me
stay away. I appreciate it. First off, I just want
to make a comment. I've always appreciated Pittsburgh, the city
of Pittsburgh, and that they have almost a unified color
screen scheme across several teams. It almost makes you realize,

(35:22):
like black and yellow, like that is Pittsburgh. But I'm
going to come in with a hot take regarding someone
that's always universally regarded as a great uniform. And I
think many aspects of the Cowboys are overrated. But I'm
gonna say particularly one specific uniform. Those home whites with
the pants. I defy you to tell me are they

(35:42):
blue or gray pants? Because it is a differing opinion
when you ask different people. I think that they look
like practice uniforms. I think that they look like that
should be something they're wearing in the middle of the week.
And so I thought, again, of many things about the
Cowboys that are overrated, I do think even that specific
uniform is one of them.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
All Right, thank you, Lucas hot take. Yes, Paul, He's
not the.

Speaker 5 (36:05):
Only one who's said that about the Cowboys home uniforms.
They have a white jersey, dark blue numbers, dark blue socks,
light blue silver pants, and then a pure silver helmet.

Speaker 4 (36:16):
Lot going on.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
Jason in Maine, Hi, Jason, good morning.

Speaker 14 (36:24):
How are you so? You were talking about how the
Fancy Titans are terrible uniforms, which I kind of agree.
But remember back in the day when he used to
be the Houston Oilers, those colors were just magic, right,
But for some reason, like the those same colors actually
transcended into the same loss, which was like weird losses

(36:50):
with like the epic, you know, the against the Buffalo Bills,
right and then against the Silver Bowl.

Speaker 2 (37:00):
I don't want to run down I don't want to
run down Titan memories here. Okay, we're just talking about
the uniforms, Thank you, Jason. The Houston Oilers they had
great uniforms, great uniforms. That's what makes these uniforms I
think look even worse. Aiden in Utah, Hi, Aiden, what's
on your mind today?

Speaker 16 (37:21):
Hey p good morning.

Speaker 8 (37:23):
Listen.

Speaker 16 (37:25):
Just because teams haven't changed their uniform since the Cold
War does not make them good.

Speaker 17 (37:31):
Okay.

Speaker 16 (37:31):
The Steelers are okay, the Packers are okay, but just
because of their classic doesn't make them good. Listen. I
just and the only thing I want from you, guys
told the Big two oh, is a birthday songs from
Todd and Todd only.

Speaker 2 (37:50):
Okay, how about that ton a birthday song from you
for Aiden in Utah. We can do that.

Speaker 7 (37:57):
Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday,
dear Aiden in Utah. Happy birthday to you, and many
healthy happy birthdays.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
Enjoy yourself A alrighty, there you go. That's quite a
gift there, Aiden. Thank you for calling. Zack and Knoxville. Hi,
Zach and Knoxville.

Speaker 17 (38:21):
ADP, thanks for taking my call. I wanted to address
what Chris and Syracuse did. I feel like he was
taking a shot at me for the shot that I
took it Todd yesterday, And just want to let Todd
know I always vote for him for most Valuable ban
at and I'm the one that said the gong should
not be there for when he messes up. And the

(38:43):
only reason I took a shot at him is because
he took a shot at me for wearing my baseball
jersey unbuttoned when I sent.

Speaker 14 (38:50):
In my pie of the face video.

Speaker 17 (38:52):
So it's nothing but love over here, Todd.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
Right, let me back, all right, thank you Zach, Andrew
and Washington. Hi Andrew, Good morning Dan, Dan.

Speaker 12 (39:02):
That's thanks for taking my call. Yeah, a lot of
Todd love going around. Todd is a vital part of
the show. Everybody knows that. But content is the most
vital part of the show. And he provides that and
you provide that with him. Also. I do have a
stat of the day, but my question today kind of
goes into, you know, jerseys and uniforms and how they
look on the field. Last night was Washington versus Cincinnati

(39:24):
and Monday Night football, and I was just wondering who
the most exciting team to watch will be this coming year.
It might not be the best team, might not be
the worst team, but the most exciting team. And real quick,
my stat of the day in honor of Rich Eisen
hosting Sportsmen for the first time in over twenty years.
Last night, I got this stat from him. In the Phillies,
Foil seven went over the Mariners all kind of they starts,

(39:46):
they hit the first two and it was for the
first time since September twenty eighth, nineteen sixty three.

Speaker 2 (39:54):
Stat of the Day. Stat of the day. That bad
yea of the day. Statu of the day, Here comes
that what stat of the day? Thank you, Ron Burgundy.
Stat of the Day? Brought to you by a Pendi America,
the official trading cards of the program. Update the poll
results if you can seating from the first hour, yep,

(40:16):
sure can.

Speaker 3 (40:17):
We got two of them working right now for you.
Which would you rather have if you were a college
football star? Did you rather have the Heisman, your number retired,
or a statue? Right now, seventy four percent of the
audience have a Heisman? And who feels closer to a
Super Bowl win? Bengals that were commanders? The commanders right

(40:38):
now have sixty four percent that vote.

Speaker 2 (40:40):
Yeah, now, I'd probably have those odds a little bit
better if the Bengals had Trey Hendrickson. I'd certainly feel
a whole lot better. But that's you got to have
a defense that stands up at some point in the season,
whether it's a drive or it's a couple of games,
your defense is going to have to win you some games.
I know everything is predicated on passing in the offense

(41:03):
and opening it up and scoring, and it comes down
to defense every time. Every year. I say that it
will come down to defense. One hour in the Books,
two more to go. We'll talk to the director who
is going to give us the documentary on the Cowboys.
He'll join us. Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk will

(41:24):
stop by and Chase Daniel, former quarterback. He'll break down
some of the preseason performances of these rookie quarterbacks. One
hour in the Books, two more to go.
