Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio Hour two.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
On this Friday, It's a Meat Friday, meatball subs brought
worst bacon, cheeseburgers, and all courtesy of our new sponsor,
Heartland Steaks Company. Finest steaks you'll get in America. And
they're our new sponsor for Meat Friday. Who is it
better than we do? No bod All right, we got
(00:26):
football coming up tonight out of the country. Chiefs are
favored by three against the Chargers. I'm looking at some
of the other point spreads. Bengals four and a half
point favorites against the Browns, the Giants getting six against
the Commanders. You got the Steelers are favored by three
against the Jets. Now I'm looking for like the Buccaneers
(00:50):
are one and a half point favored against the Falcons.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
Used to be.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Tampa Bay, New Orleans, Atlanta. It felt like they it
was always back and forth. It didn't matter what your
record was. Sometimes take the team that's not as good
as the other one. They'll pull off the surprise. The
Dolphins they're getting one and a half against the Colts.
The Niners against the Seahawks. The Niners are one and
a half point favorites, the Lions getting two and a
(01:17):
half at the Packers, and then you got the big
Sunday night game. The Ravens are one and a half
point favorites against the Buffalo Bills. There are certain teams,
there are certain players that the regular season is kind
of a curiosity. Like Lamar Jackson. I'm curious how good
he's going to be? Can he win another MVP? Josh Allen,
(01:39):
can he win another MVP? I'm curious, But their answers,
their final answer is in the postseason. There's certain players
the regular season doesn't matter. I want to know what
you're going to do in the postseason because we've seen
you be decorated and win an MVP or a couple MVPs.
(02:00):
It comes back to there's no other sport where a
championship will be attached to one player like football, and
that's your quarterback. We give them too much credit, we
give them too much blame. But Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson,
that's all I care about. It doesn't matter w wins
this game on Sunday Night, as long as both are
(02:22):
staying healthy. You know, I'm curious what Baltimore does with
Derrick Henry, How much they use him? Do they save
him a little bit? Are they going to be one
dimensional when they get to the postseason? Will Josh Allen
have help because he's played well, his numbers look pretty good.
Joe Burrow got to make the postseason. Feels like you've
(02:43):
got a coach whose job may be hanging in the
balance there the Browns with that mess. You may have
a coach whose job is hanging in the balance the Giants.
So there's certain players, certain coaches that I'm keeping an
eye on as we start the season. I will have
my super Bowl pick coming up in the final hour
of the program. South pal Antonio, the great reporter for
(03:04):
the Mothership. He was there in Philadelphia last night. We'll
get his thoughts not only on the game that was
turned in by Jalen Hurts, but also is Jalen Carter,
in his opinion, going to be disciplined further with another
game or maybe he'll be fined eight seven to seven

(03:28):
football schedule, as Paulie would say, a little choppy. You
have Michigan and Oklahoma, Okay, Iowa, Iowa State will be fun.
Oklahoma State against Oregon, Arizona State and Michigan State. So
there's a couple of games, you know, not the Texas
(03:51):
Ohio State right out of the gate, but Oklahoma Michigan.
I'm curious, is Oklahoma back?
Speaker 4 (03:58):
Yeah, Paulie So Week two and college football has a
tradition of heavyweights playing no offense lightweights after usually a
tough game to start out, like Penn State host Florida International,
Florida State's hosting East Texas A and m Indiana's hosting
Kennesas State, and so on and so on. Ohio State
(04:19):
is hosting Grambling often happens Week.

I don't know if this was done on purpose last night,
but it did feel like we have a news dump
and we're going to hide the fact that Caitlin Clark
(05:04):
has done for the season. That came out last night
I think before eight thirty Eastern, so right around kickoff,
the news came out that Caitlin Clark is done for
the season. Now you got the playoffs, and I was
surprised that she's done for the season. But you know,
sometimes leagues will strategize on when they're going to release information,
(05:29):
giving you know, both sides the opportunity to talk about
the Steve Balmer situation. We've you know, heard from Pablo
Torre who was saying that, you know, this is what
went on with his investigation. Steve Balmer, Clippers owner sat
down with Ramona Shelburne and talked about the Kawhi Leonards scandal.
Speaker 5 (05:52):
You never directed anyone from aspiration to do an endorsement
deal with Kawhi Leonard.
Speaker 6 (05:57):
No, I didn't, and more importantly, the Clippers did not.
We didn't give him direction. We made an introduction as
is appropriate under the rules. A lot of sponsors do
like to they call it activate by doing something also
with players. We made the introduction that was that Kauai's
business is Kauai's business, but we've always done the right thing.
Speaker 5 (06:20):
Have you spoken to Kui about any of these allegations
since the podcast came out on Wednesday?
Speaker 2 (06:24):
I have known?
Speaker 7 (06:25):
Would you be interested to see what he has to say?
Speaker 6 (06:28):
It's really his business with Aspiration, so you know, I
wouldn't ask about it.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
No, okay, And Ramona was asking some good follow up
questions there, but Steve was adamant saying he didn't or
anybody associated with the Clippers. It's one of those that
when the optics are bad because you want to get
Kawhi and you're not sure if you're going to get Kauai.
Then you get Kawhi and maybe you didn't have to
(06:55):
pay him full market value there, and then you find
out a company you've invested it in is going to
give him twenty eight million dollars and they are one
of your sponsors, and you were going to have a
patch on the uniform, I believe, and then all of
a sudden that there was you know, uh, you know,
the CEO went to prison I mean, there's a lot
of things that happened there, but hey guys, hey guys.
Speaker 3 (07:21):
To a restaurant.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
Hey, hey you guys, I can hear you, Okay, you're
I can hear you through the glass here or somebody's
microphones on. But you know, once again, Steve Ballmer denied it,
and I just you know, thought giving both sides. We
have invited everybody on and this is just a point
(07:42):
of you know, you get all the owners that are
going to be in New York next week now that
was scheduled. Then I guess this will be a topic
of conversation. Is that Does it go any further than this?
I don't know what Adam Silver is going to ask,
but I'm going to guess he's going to say, uh, well,
privately with Steve, you know, how did this? You know,
(08:03):
tell me your side of the story. Does the commissioner
reach out to Kawhi Leonard Pablo Torre has a source
on record saying that this was done to circumvent the
salary cap, So there's there's evidence here. But we wanted
to hear from Steve Balmer. We invited him on. He
sat down with Ramona Shelburn and you know, that's all.
(08:24):
You know, we wanted to get both sides to this
to be fair or as fair as possible here, okay,
Pole question first hour had to do with Jalen Carter.
If he should be further disciplined, why did you update
that seat? And then what are we going to go
with an hour or two of the program?
Speaker 7 (08:40):
Jalen Carter should be suspended further or last night was enough?
Last night was enough? Right now has about fifty seven
percent of that vote. That's a lot of people, though,
that want him to be suspended further than that.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Yeah, I think understand the context of Dak Prescott played
a role with this, and I think once the commissioner
looks at both sides of this that yes, on the surface,
Jalen Carter is spitting on the shield, literally spitting on
the shield. But if you look at the context of it,
Dak Prescott, in my opinion, helped initiate or get this
(09:13):
started or baited Jalen Carter.
Speaker 7 (09:15):
Yes, yeah, I think you keep saying the word baited.
I think that's exactly right, you know, and that's that's
part of that's the reason why you clap in somebody's face.
You're just trying to beat them. There's nothing wrong clapping,
kind of clapping in your direction whatever you're trying to
get them to push you. Then I bang, there you go.
That's the flag, you know. And he did it very well.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
And he's already been suspended again, so I would I
would factor that in. Maybe he's fined. But we'll talk
to South palm Antonio about it. We're we'll get to
your phone calls as well. Eight seven to seven to
three DP Show email address Dpadanpatrick dot com, Twitter handle
at DP show. But through it all, with everything that happened,
the weather delay, Jalen Hurds played a wonderful football game
(09:56):
last night, and it's he took advan of whatever was there.
And he didn't have great performances from his wide receivers.
He didn't have a great great performance by Saquon. I
mean he outrushed Saquon Barkley. You get two rushing touchdowns
and you could make a case Dallas should have won
(10:17):
that game. Ceedee lamb good in the first half, bad
in the second half, a couple of drops, there was
a fumble, and we could be talking about Dallas Cowboys
maybe are better than what we think and maybe the
Eagles with those different starters on defense, going to take
them a little while to get up to speed Championship speed.
(10:40):
All right, A couple of phone calls Buddha in San Francisco,
Hi Buddha, what's on your mind?
Speaker 8 (10:47):
No, buddy, Happy meet Friday boys. My passion bucket is
full today, Dan, overflowing, as today is my birthday, and
I can't think of anything better than to be able
to call into the show and say, every day's a
super Bowl, Fritzy, let's go, let's go. And as far
(11:11):
as Jalen Carter goes DP, he's a dummy. That's as
much attention as I will give that foolish behavior. And
watching the Eagles escape a disastrous start last night just
left me shaking my head. And I know that when
Dallas loses, America wins shout out to my man Gusts
in La. But I just found myself rooting for Dallas
(11:33):
and Shane Irving last night after that incident, because, like
I mean, they had a chance to win. Like you
just said, Dan, to your point, but you often mentioned
your affinity for cigars and tequila. I was just wondering, Dan,
which tequila do you prefer and if you ever had
fort de Layza tequila.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Yeah, happy birthday, Booty. You can't get Forda Liza, certainly
the Repisodo. It's it's weird. I had that tequila all
the time and then all of a sudden, you can't
get it anymore. And but it's great tequila. Great cigar.
Had Ahoya, great cigar. Last night, Shay brought me a boulevar,
(12:16):
great cigar. Had two cigars last night. Tequila. And I
slept here by the way, slept in the man Cave. Yeah,
I had a little overnighter.
Speaker 7 (12:27):
Glad you do that.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Well. I didn't want to drive. I had been drinking,
so I didn't want to. Oh yes, and you know
you're on camera when I'm doing this watch party and
people are watching. You know, they don't know what's in
my mug. But I was drinking tequila and I thought,
you know what, let's just I said to the wife.
I said, I'm gonna stay at the man Cave. And
then all I was heading out of the parking lot
(12:51):
this morning, and Marvin's coming in and he's like waving
to me. And I went home, took a shower, picked
up the dog, and then then came back. Let's see
Michael in Salt Lake. Hi, Mike, what's on your mind today?
Speaker 8 (13:05):
Hey Dan, how's it going good?
Speaker 3 (13:08):
Hey?
Speaker 8 (13:08):
I'm getting married tomorrow. Oh I should have I should
have told you six seven, two thirty five. I'm getting
married tomorrow. You guys got for.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Me, and it's going to be in Salt Lake.
Speaker 8 (13:21):
Yeah, it's in in Salt Lake.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Okay, yeah, see.
Speaker 7 (13:25):
I'm just curious, Michael, you're six seven. How tall is
your future wife?
Speaker 8 (13:30):
This is funny. She's actually five to three.
Speaker 2 (13:36):
I love that. Can you send us a picture?
Speaker 8 (13:40):
I actually send you, guys an invitation.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
In the mail.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Oh you did well. I gotta be honest. We get
a lot of wedding invitations, and we got a lot
of graduation invitations, which you know, I appreciate that. But uh,
let me see he needs some advice.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
Advice eighty three in Salt Lake tomorrow. Extra deodorant, maybe
a T shirt under the tuck shirt to prevent these.
Speaker 7 (14:05):
Sweat through Okay, okay, yes, I remember to smile all
the time. A lot of people taking pictures. Make sure
you're smiling.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
It's her day. Just remember that, Mike, it's her day.
In her mom's day, not yours.
Speaker 8 (14:21):
Day, her mom's day.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
Two.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Yes, this is Michael. You know what, maybe we should
have gone to this wedding. It sounds like it might
be entertaining. Yes, your mother in law and your fiance,
it's their day, all right, he's already in trouble. Good luck, Michael.
(14:50):
They're all counting on you, No, buddy, Uh, Paul and Iowa,
then we'll take a break South, pal Antonio said to
join us. Hi, Paul, Hey, Dan, Well it's.
Speaker 9 (15:01):
Hate week here in Iowa. Go Cyclones beat the Hawkeyes
again tomorrow. But I wanted to call in because I'm
calling a high school football game tonight and there's an
NFL game, and I just don't agree with the NFL
getting bigger and bigger.
Speaker 8 (15:15):
Like Mark Cuban said, you know, the.
Speaker 9 (15:17):
Fat of the pig right before the slaughter now taking
over Friday nights. Should that be reserved for the sanctity
of the high school players?
Speaker 2 (15:24):
Well, going forward it will be, yes, we wondered that.
But going forward, if you won't have that competition on
Friday night, and that's and that's a law that goes
back to the early sixties, and I want them to
keep Friday for high school football. I you know that
they should? All right, We'll take a break. We'll talk
(15:45):
to South pal Antonio. Does he think that Jalen Carter
will be further disciplined? And what did last night say
about both of these teams? Will take a break. We're
back after this Dan Patrick Show.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific

Speaker 10 (16:06):

off of it Ben Matherer Show, a cult hit overnights

and more every week explore some amazing facts about human
nature and more. Listen to The Fifth Hour with Ben
Maller on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you

Speaker 2 (16:36):
I know the Clippers owner Steve Baumer denied knowing about
any of this with Kawhi Leonard with Ramona Scholbourn last
night on the mother Ship. Pablo Torre, who is doing
the investigation, sent out a tweet saying that that he
can now confirm that Aspiration the company that gave Kawhi
Leonard a secret twenty million dollar side deal, combined with
(17:00):
Kawhi's secret twenty eight million dollar no show endorsement deal,
that adds up to forty eight million dollars. Pablo Torre
then says, we previously reported Steve Ballmer's personal Aspiration investment
was fifty million dollars. A lot of smoke here, a
(17:23):
lot of smoke. Now, maybe Steve found a loophole. Maybe
that's what this is, found a loophole, and maybe the
NBA closes these loopholes. I'd be curious if Steve introduced
Kawhi to Aspiration, one of the sponsors of the team,
what other players has he introduced to other sponsors of
(17:44):
the team. Is this commonplace? Is this commonplace with other
NBA owners and players maybe other sports as well. Hey,
we're gonna get you a side deal. Well, a side
deal might be maybe a five million dollar Horseman Neal spokesperson,
something that's forty eight million dollars and Steve Baumer invested
(18:07):
fifty million dollars. It's not a big leap to go
forty eight fifty circumvent the salary cap. Well, we'll let
you know when we get more on this. South pal Antonio,
ESPN national correspondent covering the NFL Soupal. How are you, buddy, Dan?
Speaker 3 (18:26):
Great to be with you this morning, Thanks for having
me on the show.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Let me start with the bigger picture, the actual performance
of the game. Then we'll get to Jalen Carter. But
what did last night tell you about the Eagles?
Speaker 3 (18:39):
That Jalen Hurst can get you out of anything? I
think you know that's been talked about for the last
twelve hours, but it's true. So here comes Matt Eberfluss,
the new defensive coordinator of the Cowboys, and he decides
to play mass zone, and they take away AJ Brown,
and they limit Devonte's and they stacked the box on
(19:01):
sa kuon Barkley. But you know, it's sort of a
pick your poison thing with the Eagles offense, because if
you don't have some kind of spy operation, effective spy operation,
or spy who can match up to Jalen Hurts as
a runner, You're dead. You'r DW. You got no chance.
(19:23):
Because this guy's too strong, too smart. He understands how
to decipher it pre snap. He gets that snapshot, that
Peyton Manning snapshot pre snap. Then the ball is snapped
and he's got another snapshot and he is recognizing and
deciphering what defenses are doing. He did it against Steve
(19:45):
Spagnolo in Super Bowl fifty nine. It's one of the
more unheralded stories about super Bowl fifty nine. And the
reason why Jalen Hurts won this the MVP in super
Bowl fifty nine is because he's really become I'm an
effective recognition guy, and I mean I disagree with Tom Brady.
(20:08):
I think Jalen you know, he's got great athletic skill,
but he's really great at deciphering what defenses are doing
pre and post.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
Now what was Brady's criticism, Well, Brady.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Said that I think last week he was doing one
of those media tours and he said that right now
quarterbacks are not as cerebral as they once were. And
that may be true in a general sense, but I
think the two guys that were in the Super Bowl
last year, that's not true Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts.
It's certainly not true for Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow and
(20:45):
Josh Allen, and certainly not true for Jaden Daniels.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
Yeah, that feels like it's uh. You guys get by
on your athleticism, whereas you know me and Breeze and
Peyton we got by on Alce Small guarding the opposition,
and you're right with Mahomes. Mahomes in any generation. And
I thought Jalen Hurts last night, aside from the two
Super Bowls, like, that's a game that you I'm going
(21:12):
to pin on him. He won the game last night.
He won the game by making smart decisions. They take
away everybody and when they needed big play, they got
it and I loved it. And I've said before I
didn't consider him a great quarterback. I think he's he's
great as the quarterback of the Eagles. He's the right
guy for that team. And I might have to upgrade
(21:34):
that to being a great quarterback. I don't know if
he cares about where he's ranked in those kind of lists,
but man, a guy wants He's a winner, I think,
and that might be the ultimate compliment that you give
any athlete, he's a winner.
Speaker 3 (21:49):
I was in Brazil last year for their opener. As
you remember, he turned the ball over three times. They
still won the game last night, super efficient didn't turn
the ball over, and you know they had thirty eight
rushing attempts. If you have thirty eight rushing attempts in
the National Football League to go along with twenty three completions,
(22:12):
you take those two numbers. That's the Vermial formula. It
is rushing attempts and completions, and you're gonna win a
lot of football games if you don't turn the ball
over because of the efficiency. I agree with Sirianni's postgame
comments about that, but the dovetail to the Jalen Carter deal.
If I'm Jalen Carter, Dan, I walk across the locker
(22:35):
room and I say that Jalen Hurts, let me write
a big fat check to your charity for bailing me out.
Because if Jalen Hurts doesn't bail out the Eagles last night,
and bail out by me, I mean Jalen Carter, we're
all talking about only the Eagles losing because Jalen Carter
was thrown out for spitting before the ball was snapped.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
There's a lot more to that, like giving it context
of looking at it, and you know, I've had the
benefit to look at it all morning long of seeing
Dak Prescott's role, because Dak does play a role in
this now and now it doesn't exonerate Jalen Carter. But
if you look at Dak where he is and he said, well,
I couldn't spit on my alignment, well, he's like seven
(23:20):
yards back and then walks up in between his linement
and then spits, and then I think there's a link
to Jalen Carter. Jalen Carter then goes way a minute.
What's going on? They're drawing back and forth and he
spits on it. How do you think the NFL will
assess Jalen Carter any punishment after this?
Speaker 3 (23:41):
Good question. Don't know. The forensics are obvious. You just
laid it out. They're going to go through that, and
they're going to go through that with an eye towards
their point of emphasis in the offseason, which is we
want to cut down on the unsportsmanlike behavior of NFL players.
So there's that lens that we have to put on it,
(24:04):
and we also have to put on it. The fact
that Jalen Carter has been penalized what fourteen times in
the last two seasons his first two years with four
personal fouls, which is tied for most in the league.
So this is an NFL problem right now that they
have to figure out what to do. I don't think
(24:24):
they should suspend Jalen Carter. I don't because he already
really served the full game suspension in my view, by
getting ejected before the ball was snapped. I think he's
already it's time served. Yeah, I'm saying so, and looking
at Dak Prescott's role, I agree with you. Both of
(24:45):
them will probably get fined a big fat fight, and
maybe there'll be a suspension. But I don't think that
Jalen Carter should be suspended. But the other thing, too,
Dan is big picture widen out the lens here. Carter
wrecked the divisional game against the Rams, wrecked the NFC
(25:06):
championship game, wrecked the Super Bowl and allowing Josh Sweat
and Milton Williams to climb all over Patrick Mahomes the
second in that football game. He's the And I study
some film, not as much as my colleagues at NFL
films and I get the numbers from our guys. He's
the most double team defensive tackle in the NFL last year,
(25:30):
so that allows so many other things to operate because
he's on the field. I'm gonna throw the name out there.
He's Jerome Brown two point zero because of the way
he occupies the middle of the field. And as Nick
Sirianni said last night, we gotta have this guy on
the field. So it's up to the Eagles front office,
(25:55):
the players council. I talked to Lane Johnson after the
game last night. He's at the players is going to
get involved figure out how to fix Jalen Carter, who,
by the way, Dan, he's on a track to be
one of the highest paid defensive players ever at the tackle.
The Eagles let a lot of guys go because they
(26:15):
know they got to pay Jayalen Carter. But if this continues,
what do they do?
Speaker 2 (26:20):
Talking to South pal Antonio, ESPN national correspondent covering the NFL, Yeah,
I picked him as my defensive player of the year.
He has entered that Aaron Donald category of Yes, he
is going to disrupt, and you're right, you know those
kind of players, they're few and far between. But he's
almost going down that in Dominican Sue path where you know,
(26:44):
it's not the opposition, it's him. It's the personality that
he brings on to the football field.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
Well, you know, I've been around him a little bit.
He's he's a tremendous player. But they've got to figure
out how as Serios he said last night, and I
agree with Nick about this, he said, I want my
players to play with passion, but within the rules, and
so now they've got to make sure this guy gets
(27:12):
it right. However they're going to do that, Uh, he
has to get it right because you know he's You're right,
he's on the doorstep of Defensive Player of the Year.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
I guess everybody would say the same thing watching the
game that if they had a spy on Jalen Hurts,
that spy did a good job of staying undercover because
we never really saw them. Does Michaeh. Parsons make that
much of a difference last night if they have him
and they don't have Clark, Yes, one hundred percent.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
They they're you know, Michael Parsons is just so athletic
and so smart. Line him up anywhere and he disrupts
his speed. His speed, he can track down guys including
Jalen Hurts. Yes, one hundred percent. Michael Parsons, I mean magic,
You're Matt Eberfluss and you're head coach, and they're saying,
we're gonna have this guy on the field week one,
(28:05):
and then all of a sudden, he poof, he's gone.
By the way, I'll have what Howie Roseman's having because
the Giants just sort of give up on Saint Quon
Barkley and then the Cowboys the next year trade. Michael Parsons,
I mean how he didn't have to lift the finger
and two division rivals got rid of the best two players.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
Dan, great to talk to you as always. Congrats contract extension.
Speaker 3 (28:31):
That's correct, contract extension. I'm still here, Dan, still here?
Speaker 2 (28:35):
How many years?
Speaker 3 (28:36):
This is year thirty at the mother Ship as you
like to call it, and listen, as you know, you
have great support and love here and it's fantastic.
Speaker 2 (28:47):
Thanks for joining us. So congrats. South Palantonio, ESPN National correspondent.
I bring the NFL thirty years. I survived eighteen.
Speaker 4 (28:59):
Yeah, Pauli al dropped the phrase dead in the water
diw because he was in the Navy years ago. And
that reminds me of the Houston Super Bowl incident where
you and that guy and the Sal was right to
the right of you.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Wait, did we find out if Sal was a Navy seal?
Is Sal still up there?
Speaker 1 (29:16):
Sal?
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Were you a Navy seal?
Speaker 3 (29:17):
I was not a Navy seal DNA. We actually talked
about this in Scottsdale. I was a surface warfare officer. Okay,
I do remember that incident in Houston, and this is
where I get out of the zoom call right now.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
Okay, it wasn't an incident. It could have been an incident.
Speaker 3 (29:37):
Yes, that's true.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
Okay, thank you.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
So yes, Pully had to be complimentary Sal as a wingman.
This guy was in your face a little bit in
a bar and it was a lively bar, and it
felt like something might happen. And Sal was right next
to you. He had his arms cocked like he was
going to make a tackle, like he was ready if
an incident happened.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
But yeah, he was. This guy was upset about That's
something I don't know, like you guys make fun of
or why don't you cover? I have no idea, and
I realize it's starting to get serious, and Sal is
right next to me, and Sal has got his eyes
right on this guy, right right on him, and if
(30:19):
it if the guy lifts his arm up, Sal's going
after him. And I was like, damn, this is getting
a little a little tense. Sal's right here to my right,
and I'm going, all right, if the guy hits me,
then you know, Sal will take care of him. And
I just for some reason it kind of quieted down
(30:41):
a little bit. Now there's part of me that wanted
to see Sal in action here because I'm like, all right,
I'm here. He's a Navy seal. I go, he's a
Navy seal, all right. So I always if Sal was
going to be out or i'd see Sala, I don't
you know, I'd hang out with Sal. I think probably
more so that he was a Navy seal than I
(31:02):
enjoyed his company. It was like anything happens, I got
sou Palantonio here. Maybe not as much now because he's
not a Navy seal, but whatever he was, it sounded
pretty important there South, So thank you again for having
my back or my front or my side or whatever
it was.
Speaker 4 (31:18):
Yes, Pauline, I also heard that ed Warder was Cia
Black Ops.
Speaker 8 (31:22):
Is that true?
Speaker 2 (31:23):
I heard that that's going around lately. Yeah. Yeah, John
Clayton worked for a masad. He was a massad agent. Yeah.
People don't realize that, but yeah, Johnny, Johnny good times. Yep,
that was the good old days there. Uh. Dave in
South Dakota. Hi, Dave, what's on your mind today?
Speaker 7 (31:43):
Hey?
Speaker 5 (31:43):
Dan?
Speaker 8 (31:44):
Thanks taking to call Noboddy.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
I have I.
Speaker 8 (31:48):
Want to widen the lens even further on Jail and
Carter and ask why was jailing on the Cowboys side
of the ball in the first place? Where were the
Eagles coaches? Where were the official Jalen and the Cowboys
are out there? Nothing good can happen.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
You're right, You're right. He was three yards on the
other side. You're right. And uh, that's where somebody has
to know. There's certain guys where you go keep an
eye on him, like in Dominican su Yeah, got to
keep an eye on him. His teammates keep an eye
on him. And that was the situation where you know, now,
(32:27):
maybe you're saying to yourself, Okay, we haven't even started yet,
what's going to happen? But if he's approaching, then all
of a sudden, it's like I got somebody got to
grab him and just say, get what are we doing?
Let's go? You know? How about how about the proactive
here not reactive?
Speaker 8 (32:46):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (32:47):
Chris and Maryland? Hi Chris, what's on your mind today?
What's going on? Then? Hey Chris?
Speaker 8 (32:54):
Okay, quick question.
Speaker 2 (32:55):
So after an incident like last night, when the refs
get ready for the next.
Speaker 8 (33:00):
Game with Jalen Cardo, will they talk about him specifically
and be.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Like, hey, we got to be on the lookout for
that guy.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
Or does that.
Speaker 8 (33:07):
Create a bias?
Speaker 9 (33:09):
No?
Speaker 2 (33:10):
I think that, you know, maybe subconsciously. Like if I'm
going to look at this honestly, I would say maybe subconsciously.
But do I expect Jalen Carter to be in a
situation like that? Again, I do not. But this is
about his team with him now, it's about him, but
it's about his team as well, not about the officials.
Speaker 11 (33:29):
Yes, Marvin, I have a strong inkling at Nick Sirian.
He's going to really give him a good pep talk
about not going over the other side of the line
of scrimmage.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Just wait until the game to go on the other
side of the line of scrimmage. Yes, yes, all right,
we'll take a break. Best week in sports. We will
have Super Bowl picks coming up. Steve Smith Senior will
join us a little bit later on more of your
phone calls as well.
Speaker 1 (33:54):

Speaker 2 (34:08):
Super Bowl picks. Are we ready? I got the Super
Bowl odds in front of me. According to DraftKings, Bills
and Ravens are tied at the top. Then it's the Eagles, Chiefs, Packers, Lions, Commanders, Niners, Rams, Broncos.
(34:29):
Then you can throw in Bengals, Buccaneers getting a lot
of love. They're plus twenty five hundred, same as the Chargers.
Then it's the Vikings, Steelers, and the Texans. That's a
lot of teams that could go to the Super Bowl.
Usually the league is top heavy and you might have five, six,
seven teams that could win it. I mean, you could
(34:51):
see the Bill's, Ravens, Eagles, Chiefs, Packers, Lions, Commanders. You know,
if you want to, if you believe in the Niners turnaround,
the Rams were there at the doorstep. The Broncos made
the playoffs. Bengals, you know, got a great offense. Buccaneers
they can win that division. They could end up home
field advantage, Chargers playoffs, Vikings JJ McCarthy. But still a
(35:15):
great defense, got you know, justin Jefferson, Steelers maybe, and
the Texans. So that's like it's one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen,
fourteen fifth. That's sixteen teams that you could that could
conceivably make the Super Bowl or let's say the AFC
(35:37):
or n SA title game. NBA feels like it's six.
Major League Baseball feels like it's five or six. That's
a lot for the NFL. That's half the league. Now,
thanks Tome, just double check, thank you time.
Speaker 5 (35:53):
Yeah, sixteen over thirty two is one over two.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
They'll be hh, thank you ton. All right, let's go
around the room. Super Bowl picks.
Speaker 5 (36:00):
Odd The Baltimore Ravens will defeat the Detroit Lions twenty
seven nineteen. We've been gonna give you the score, okay,
Ravens twenty seven Lions.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
Ravens over the Lions. Seaton o'cunnor great.
Speaker 7 (36:13):
The Baltimore Ravens will beat the Philadelphia Eagles twenty seven
to twenty three.
Speaker 2 (36:18):
Okay, Marvin.
Speaker 11 (36:22):
The Detroit Lions will defeat the Cincinnati Bengals in the
Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (36:28):
Okay, Paul, second year in a row. Wishful picking Lions
over Bills in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
Really, I was factoring in a few teams for the
Super Bowl. Okay, now Bills and Ravens. I hope that
the Bills get success, like I root for that because
I root for that fan base. The Ravens have won
a Super Bowl before, but Lamar Jackson, I'd hate for
(36:58):
him to have all those MVPs and not a Super
Bowl appearance. The Eagles, they've been there, The Chiefs have
been there. The Packers be easy to root for that team,
The Lions, the Commanders I think take a step back.
The Niners. The Christian McCaffrey injury really concerns me. And
he's going to open up, you know, I guess maybe
(37:20):
probable or questionable. You know, this is going to be
there all season long. With him. Matthew Stafford. I love
the Rams, but can I have Matthew Stafford stay healthy.
Broncos don't think they make the playoffs this year.
Speaker 5 (37:37):
Wow, but the Raiders that you think the Raiders are
going to do better than Denver?
Speaker 2 (37:45):
Yes, the Bengals, you better make the playoffs. Buccaneers, man,
there's a lot of love for the Buccaneers because it's
a bad division. You got a good team, good coach
and a very very winnable divis and you could rack
up a lot of victories there. Chargers, you know, I
(38:05):
can't do it. I just can't. Vikings, that's asking a
lot of JJ McCarthy. The Steelers, I don't know. I
get the feeling. It's the last year for Aaron Rodgers
and the last year Mike Tomlin in Pittsburgh and the
Texans once again a winnable division. This is similar to
(38:27):
the Buccaneers that they could have, you know, twelve wins,
have home field advantage. My super pole picks, it'll be
the Lions and the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, Lions
Chiefs with the Lions winning the Super Bowl. Okay, now,
(38:51):
bonus MVP this year, Todd.
Speaker 5 (38:57):
I am going to go based on my Super Bowl pick.
I'm gonna have to go. Lamar Jackson. I feel as
the MVP.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Of the league. Okay, once again, this is just for
the regular season Seaton MVP.
Speaker 7 (39:08):
I should be feeling like this is more solidarity with
my back rodmate, but I hate this. But I'm actually
doing the rare combo of regular season MVP. Super Bowl
MVP will be Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
Okay, alright, Marvin.
Speaker 11 (39:25):
Since I got the Bengals going to the Super Bowl.
Joe Burrow League MVP.
Speaker 4 (39:29):
All right, oh, all right, I'm gonna try to go
a little saucy here. Regular season MVP is Jordan Love
of the Packers.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
Okay, I'm gonna go with Jalen Hurts MVP. I like it.

Bring on the game now, yes, Martin missed that guy.
Speaker 11 (40:24):
Now, if you have Jaala Hurts winning league MVP, how
many games will the Eagles win during the regular season.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
I'm gonna say majority of them all goes, well, a
majority of them many GUTSI I'm gonna say. I'm gonna
say twelve.
Speaker 11 (40:39):
They gotta win fifteen for him to be League MVP.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
Well, he's not gonna have the numbers, but I'm telling
you what value is. It's not necessarily the stats as
much as the value of what he does when he
needs to do it, just like last night. Then we
see what he does when he gets to the super Bowl.
But he's great. Steve smith Year will join us coming up.
Final hour, Man, that was quick. Todd's here, Seating's here,
(41:05):
Marv Paulie yours truly final hour after this
