Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
The new top twenty five came out Ohio State, Penn State, LSU, Oregon, Miami.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
Georgia in there.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Can we check and see where South Florida is, because
when I mentioned this this morning, that is South Florida
in the top ten. The looks that I got back
from everybody was like, what, yes, Marvin.

Speaker 4 (00:26):
South Florida. In two different polls, they are twenty third
in one poll, in ranked number eighteenth in another.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
What is wrong with these voters? You beat Boise State
and beat Florida. Is that the problem?

Speaker 2 (00:40):
My bulls? They got it wrong, my bull Yes, my
South Florida bulls. By the way, I know that you
think I lead this great life, and sometimes I do.
Last night I was watching the BYU Stanford re air rear. Yeah, yeah,
BYU's got a quarterback is numbers forty seven, and I go,

(01:01):
all right, Andrew Luck on the sidelines and this kid's
have I think a true freshman, And it looked okay, look,
you know, it's fun. It's interesting to see a quarterback.
We're number forty seven. Yes, Paul, I'm going to back.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
You on this.

Speaker 5 (01:16):
You are not desperate and alone watching football. You are
watching football because you can't watch all the games on
Saturdays and every years. Are kind of fun to learn
about teams. Yeah, and especially for if you're a voter
or a Heisman voter, you should be well versed.

Speaker 2 (01:28):
I think this guy is his first name is Bear Awesome. Yeah,
but number forty seven?

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Yes, Tom, But.

Speaker 6 (01:34):
Isn't there something to be said about taking one or
two days off, especially these next few months.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
We've got to pace ourselves.

Speaker 6 (01:39):
If you're going to use Tuesday under a Wednesday to
rewatch games or watch games that you happen to miss,
then you're gonna have no break. Ever, it's going to
be seven days a week. And as much as we
love sports, sometimes you need a little family time or
take a nap or something.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
This is This is called homework. It's called preparation.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
We're going to talk a lot of BYU football today.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
I didn't see it.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
I just you know, maybe we talked Andrew Luck and
Stanford and they didn't look good. So maybe Frank Reich
isn't the head coach there next year. Maybe Andrew Lucky is.
I don't know, Tod.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Those are valid topics, thank you, Yes.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Yeah, but I was just you know, going through and
all of a sudden, I go, okay, I'm gonna watch
a little bit of b YU. There nothing wrong with that, Todd.
You can't watch Ohio State every weekend.

Speaker 6 (02:23):
I know. I was just concerned for you to have
a little break, you know, the time with the wife
or whatever. You know, a day or two where you're like,
no football because the other five days we're going to
be swimming in Well.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Thank you, thank you, thank you for worrying about my
social life at home.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
Got for a nice.

Speaker 6 (02:36):
Dinner, you know, Light a candle, a little intimacy or whatever.
Don't worry about the.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
By you re aired. Light a candle, set the.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Mood, dim the lights, whatever you guys do.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
It's not my business. Maybe I was setting the mood
with BYU against.

Speaker 6 (02:51):
By I'm about to try that sometime we are of
a college football game, see what I get.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
But I'm doing some parts of work.

Speaker 5 (03:00):
Yeah, fall, but the South Florida thing is kind of
semi real. If they can beat Miami this weekend, they
become the lovable team, like you know, Arizona State last year,
SMU last year.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Or Boise State.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
That's right, they could be a top ten team if
they beat Miami their top ten team?

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Is that? Okay everybody, Okay, I'm in early.

Speaker 5 (03:16):
On that they won't get top ten. They won't crack
the top ten by it if they beat Miami. They
I'm not saying they shouldn't. I'm saying they won't. They
people like to tiptoe for a lovable new team to
be the top ten. If they beat Miami, they're looking
at a nice fourteen spot, and that's fantastic in September.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Okay, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 7 (03:36):
Agree, because we don't even know if Miami is real.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
Yeah, they beat Notre Dame.

Speaker 7 (03:42):
Well, they don't know that Notre Dame is real.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
They're ranked higher than South Florida and they haven't won
a game yet. These poles are always weird. That's why
you know that first pole that should come out should
come out in October because we and we do this
all the time. The preseason where we ranked some in
North Carolina was the number one team in America. Preseason
for basketball. They didn't make the tournament. Okay, North Carolina,

(04:10):
they didn't play well, but all the voters who put
North Carolina number one didn't do well. Either it's I
don't know, let's just put the blue bloods up there,
and then all of a sudden they don't perform as
well as they shouldn't.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Then we go, oh man, what happened to you guys?
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
Guys, are the ones who ranked us higher than we
probably should have been? Yes, Todd, it proves the same.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
You don't want to end up on the poll. There
you go. I thought that was a great line. I'm
really disappointed.

Speaker 8 (04:35):
I can get a reaction.

Speaker 6 (04:36):
It's it's it's like a band, it's like a jinx
to be on the pole.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
You don't want to be on the poll. Youn't want
your kids on the pole. You don't want to be.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
On the poll. You want to be on the poll
if you're a team.

Speaker 6 (04:47):
Yeah, but if they if they overrank you and then
all of a sudden, like you just said, they're not
performing well, they made us the number six team in
the country and we lost our first two games. You
don't want to end up on the poll in the beginning.
You don't want to be on the poll.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Okay, pol Or said, I it's just not funny. I
need you to slow down, Okay, I need you I'm
being honest.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
I think I may have taken the wrong medication.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Now I'm gonna blame Paulie for having eye surgery yesterday.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
I heard it was wild. Yes, it was his fault
because I got a little loose. You got loose, and
you're still loose.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
And I've got a calm down.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
And then he's, you know, singing Beatles songs right in
my face because he's mocking me.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
He's trolling me.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
Got the Beatles sweatshirt he's talking about when he was
in high school driving around trying to pick up girls.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
It wasn't just the singing.

Speaker 6 (05:31):
I took my finger and I kind of pointed in
your eye and I made like a little concentric circles
in your face.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
You didn't like the finger in the seat.

Speaker 7 (05:36):
There are days that I wonder if Todd's medication is balanced.

Speaker 3 (05:40):
Today is one of those days, and it's not.

Speaker 7 (05:42):
The telltale sign is whenever Todd is talking and he's
going really fast, but he ends up flying. His words
are flying, and then what happens is he.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Runs out of air.

Speaker 7 (05:56):
Eddie's laughing while doing that. That to when you know, like,
oh boy, this dude is really one right now, he's like.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
That, And it wasn't just me who said something to you.
Marvin wanted to know if you were on drugs, and
Setan questioned what was going on.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
It's a little frightening for me.

Speaker 6 (06:13):
Too, because sometimes I think I'm gonna bite my tongue
off or something like that when it's not going like
really fast.

Speaker 4 (06:17):
But I got to settle down a little bit, just
a long show minutes.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Yes, yes, I want you to pace yourself. Okay, I've
been getting a lot.

Speaker 6 (06:25):
Of extra sleep little and wearing that the seatpap thing
you know for the sleep app near or the air
is springing your up your nose and your mouth to
make sure you don't die in your sleep. It's a
I think that's helped.

Speaker 7 (06:34):
They got overly oxygenated.

Speaker 6 (06:36):
I think I think got it because all I took
was like a centrum silver.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
And like a calcium pill. I wouldn't do this to me. Yes, Marvin, well,
maybe he should take a Flintstone's kids vite him in
next time.

Speaker 7 (06:46):
It was silver part of the thing.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Yeah, centrum silver for those of US fifty and above.
Oh okay, center like they.

Speaker 6 (06:52):
Put a couple extra things in there for extra zinc
and copper in your bloodstream or whatever it is.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Seed wants the whole question today.

Speaker 7 (06:58):
So glad you asked, where should Florida be ranked?

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Top ten?

Speaker 7 (07:01):
Eleven, twenty one plus?

Speaker 3 (07:03):
Who saw that coming? Yeah? Are there bowls in South Florida?

Speaker 7 (07:08):
It's a hotbed of livestock.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
The only bowl in South Florida is Michael Jordan. Okay,
all right, giving that to you, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 7 (07:18):
I'm not going to give you that one, right, Todd
at a boy kid?

Speaker 3 (07:23):
All right, Todd, you.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Mess with the bull oh and you get these Okay, yeah,
that's right, that's right.

Speaker 4 (07:31):
Okay, I'm not just going to follow the group. I
have my own independent opinion.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Do we do we have?

Speaker 9 (07:39):
What?

Speaker 3 (07:39):
Marvin?

Speaker 4 (07:40):
Sorry, you were talking about South Florida? Like they'd beat
Urban Myers Florida Gators. They beat Billy Naviers Florida Gators.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
I'd like the underdog. I like the little guy.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
Oh so do I would you say? Top ten?

Speaker 5 (07:52):
Me?

Speaker 4 (07:52):
And Seton looked at you like top ten in Florida? Sure?

Speaker 7 (07:57):
I mean I'm not exactly the gatekeeper of all college
football polls, but that seems like a stretch to this early.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
And okay, all right, all right.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
I think because they're they're called South Florida that hurts them.
Now it's like, where is it South Florida. Yeah, so
it's down, it's down south bottom part Yeah, yes.

Speaker 5 (08:19):
Yes, Directional schools have an upward track. So like last year,
Northern Illinois takes down Notre Dame, everyone's into Northern Illinois.
It was a September game. It was a big, big
deal for Northern Illinois. I think they lost the next weekend,
so like they didn't even last a week.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (08:33):
But meanwhile though, then interesting part of that is that
if Florida was actually two states and there was in
North Florida and South Florida sort of like the Carolinas,
they would be fine. South Carolina. They don't get called
the directional school because that's state school is South Carolina.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
That's a good, good call, you know.

Speaker 7 (08:49):
But if there was South Florida as a state and
North Florida as a state, nobody would judge South Florida
poorly for that.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
Yeah, yes, Marton, you know what, I'm against South Florida
already because they play in Tampa.

Speaker 7 (09:01):
Okay, that's not south south.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
Central is it mid mid mid Florida mid mid middle Florida.

Speaker 7 (09:09):
You just call the mid mid Florida.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Dang, I'm here to praise the bulls. You're trying to
bury him.

Speaker 7 (09:19):
That is kind of mid Florida, isn't it. What's the
cut off line is Orlando?

Speaker 5 (09:23):
The Orlando is Central Florida.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
The Dixon Dixon line is uh, and then Tampa is
so mid mid Florida.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
Tampa Tampa.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
It's kind of a standalone, isn't it.

Speaker 7 (09:39):
A Central Florida situation?

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Really?

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Would they be better off of the University of Tampa.
Isn't there a University of Tampa anyway?

Speaker 3 (09:47):
Yes? But I think South Florida that confuses.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
People a little bit like, uh, where are you?

Speaker 3 (09:53):
Oh? And not Miami, You're Tallahassee near Tallahassee.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Yeah, okay, So South Florida. What's the point spread for
South Florida and Miami?

Speaker 8 (10:04):
Now?

Speaker 2 (10:04):
I am really invested in this game. Now I am
Game of the Week by far. I'm hoping is it
on the CW? Of course, the big games are on
the c W. I hope I get my South Florida
jersey in time to wear it by Friday.

Speaker 5 (10:21):
Celebrity fans, Yeah, South Florida.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
How many celebrity fans. Sorry, who are the celebrities at
South Florida?

Speaker 3 (10:28):
Okay? Any other pole questions? Aside from that one seaton, there's.

Speaker 7 (10:31):
Going to be about thirteen more South Florida ones. I
can tell you, Okay, the South Florida Bulls. They are
a university as well, it's not a college.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
Okay.

Speaker 7 (10:40):
I think that's pretty good. Okay, I'm doing a deep
dive on South Florida right now.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Heck, let me get to Christopher in Colorado Springs. Hey, Chris, Hey.

Speaker 8 (10:54):
Daran, Hey guys, hey, five six fifty God, totally fulfilling
a life moment here. Let me take a little breath.
Thanks guys. So it's got to let you know, you
guys are my only football friend. It's the most amazing

(11:15):
thing we can up listening to my fellas. You make
my day go by. It's great. So, Dan, let me
tell you about you once talked about how you control
the music at your dinner table. Yeah, so you know,
we did that for a long time where the wife
and I would just choose songs. But then you got

(11:35):
to where we were just playing the same songs over
and over and over again, you know, same bands. So
what I started last August was we started with the
A's and we picked an A band and every night
we pick a different A band and we listen to
all the music we can listen to, and it has
spread our music knowledge considerably.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Well, I'm happy for you and thank you for calling in, Christopher.
But I control the music and I'll sprinkle in, you know,
maybe something random and uh, you know things go well,
you know it goes. It sets the mood, you know. Yes, Marvin,

(12:17):
what's your go to at the dinner table? I just
usually on Spotify and I'll do it. Could be usually
it's a band like Beach Boys Radio and then you
get a playlist of a lot of different things.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
Or yes time my song.

Speaker 7 (12:32):
Is past the Chicken, to the left, bun Tidy Tago book.

Speaker 4 (12:36):
Is that not our audience?

Speaker 6 (12:37):
Is that not our generation?

Speaker 4 (12:39):
Past the duchy?

Speaker 3 (12:40):
No, no, I got no, I got youth.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
I believe it's something about.

Speaker 7 (12:43):
It past the chicken. It's like, has it down the
table because they're eating dinner?

Speaker 4 (12:47):
Thank you?

Speaker 7 (12:48):
Yeah, okay, how about we take a break. I might
have gone over some people's heads, but it shouldn't have.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
PAULI, do you wish you had eye surgery? A second.

Speaker 7 (12:58):
Yeah, yeah, I wish ear surgery might be more helpful.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
That's so mean, though, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
There were some lines yesterday off off air that were
directed towards Paul right tod.

Speaker 4 (13:15):
I can't recall it, if anything that was done in
jess after all, So there were there were.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
By the way, South Florida is getting seventeen and a half,
they are ripe.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
For an upset South Florida against the U.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific

Speaker 9 (13:42):
Hey, what's up everybody? It's me three time pro bowler Levarrington,
and I couldn't be more excited to announce a podcast
called Up on Game?

Speaker 3 (13:51):
What is Up on Game?

Speaker 9 (13:52):
You add along with my fellow pro bowler TJ. Huschman
Zada and Super Bowl champion Yep, that's right, Plexico Burr.
You can only name a show with that type of
talent on it.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
Up on Game.

Speaker 9 (14:04):
We're going to be sharing our real life experiences loaded
with teachable moments. Listen to Up on Game with me
Lebar Arrington, t J. Huschman, Zada, and Plexico Birds on
the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcast.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
From Kawhi Leonard's story with the Clippers not going away quietly,
Pablo Torre has some more information a follow up and
he talked about Clippers minority owner Dennis Wong made almost
two million dollar investment in this company, which then paid
Kawhi Leonard one point seven to five million as required

(14:45):
through his endorsement contract with the environmental company. This according
to Pablo Torre in his podcast, Pablo Tory finds out
you just start to look at the numbers and they
kind of match up with the money. A lot of
smoke there. Here's the commissioner, Adam Silver talking about the investigation.

Speaker 10 (15:07):
The burden is on the league if we're going to
discipline a team, an owner, a player, or in any
of the constituent members of the league. I think, as
a matter of fundamental fairness, I would be reluctant to
act if there was sort of a mere appearance of impropriety.
I think the goal of a full investigation is to

(15:28):
find that if there really was impropriety. The public at
times reaches conclusions that later turn out to be completely
false and so I do would want anybody else in
situation mister Bomber is in now, or Kawhi Leonard for
that matter, to be treated the same way I would
want to be treated if people were making allegations against me.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
All right, Commissioner, have you talked to Steve Ballmer, Commissioner?
Have you talked to Kawhi Leonard? Commissioner? Have you talked
to Pablo Tore? Commissioner? Do you have access to the
same information that Pablo Torre does? Still driving that trusty
old ride. Keep it looking sharp with Mako from dense
to faded paint. We got you covered free estimate today.

(16:09):
Uh oh, better get Mako. This may have been going on,
Maybe it goes on a lot more than we know.
Maybe we're just being naive, but this one, we're going
to pay you off the books to circumvent the salary
cap and somebody on record in that company saying that's

(16:29):
what happened with this money, seven different sources. You got
three thousand pages of documents, so there's something here. And
I would ask the commissioner what is your next move?
What are you going to do? Because he's got to
protect all the other owners, and what are the other
owners think are other owners doing this, like, Hey, we

(16:52):
got you a job over here, but it's not really
a job, and we're going to pay you this.

Speaker 5 (16:57):
Yeah, Pauline, I know we're a long way from punishment
the Clippers, if any, but they don't have a twenty
twenty six first round DRAF pick. They don't have a
twenty twenty eight first round TRAPP. So the cupboard is
a bit bear already.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
Steph Curry was on the Today Show in NBC.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
NBC of course, is going to be bringing you the
NBA coming up this season, and Steph talked about today's
NBA players.

Speaker 11 (17:20):
I was also about wise man when I was getting
into the league, like you want to leave the league
in a better place than when you found it. And
I think just the way that you see the skill
level right now, the way that the range just kind
of taken over and got to shooting threes all over
the court, but just from one through five and all
the way down the ross, I think this is the
most skilled, you know, era of basketball history. And so

(17:42):
whether that was you know, young kids in the game
now seeing you know, my generation the way that I
play and getting inspired by that like that for me
is important in something I don't take for granted.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
Yeah, I wouldn't argue with that. One through five. What
we asked big men to do, what big men are
allowed to do. Now that they can take their game
out three point range, they can also be inside. The
ability to run the floor, handle the ball, and then
you have the other players the ability to make shots,

(18:15):
tough shots. It's pretty amazing. So skill level, yeah, I'm
not so. I mean, that's I'd be surprised if he,
you know, said something different they had. Yes, one through five,
it's as skilled as it's ever been. You can watch
you know, the NBA, and you can watch and you
can see that there were players who played, players who

(18:36):
started and they weren't you know, high skill level guys.
You could still get away with a guy who was
going to be banging around, you know, physical guy and enforcer.
You don't really have that now. I mean, you got
guys if something happens, then I got an enforcer. But
you know, back in the eighties and nineties, felt like

(18:58):
every team had an enforcer. You know, something's gonna happen
to the star player. Hey, you're gonna knock down Jordan
Charles Oakley wants to see you. You know, you would
just have that but skilled positions one through five. Yeah, amazing,
But Steph made it look too easy.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
And it's not.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
Yes, Marmin, Yeah, this isn't a very like, this isn't
a hot taket all. No, like, it's the evolution of
the game. Because you would say that about any sport,
not any sport, but you say about the NFL. Also,
these guys might be better than they were before. How
many guys in the eighties of the nineties can do
what Kyrie can do. That's the first guy I think,
or even Kevin Durant you talk about guys If Kevin

(19:39):
Durant played in the nineties, there's no way he's out
there to three point line. They would say, get in
the post. Oh yeah, what are you doing facing up dribbling? Yes,
get down there and working your low post moves. And
big men would not be out eighteen feet away. They'd
be like, get down there, get down on the low post. Yeah, Paul,
if you want to.

Speaker 5 (19:57):
Play a little Devil's advocate to what Steph said, could
you make the ca that the main skill these days
is outside shooting, which everyone can do, but the other
skills like driving to the basket or posting up is
a skill that's gone away quite a bit. And that
was if you say, multi skilled athletes shooting outside is
a great skill and never could do it. But I
don't know if they drive to the basket like they

(20:18):
used to or post up like they used to.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Well, the game is begging you to drive to the
basket or mid range jumpers. But you know, the analytics say, don't.
I still don't understand that when guys are one for
nine from three point range and I see go to
the hoop, get fouled, shoot some free throws, get somebody
in foul trouble, and it'll change, mark my words, it'll change.

(20:42):
Somebody's approach is going to be. You've got to deal
with us inside. You got to deal with us down low,
and you'll still have you know, the requisite three point
shooter or a couple of them. But I mean, if
I had shack yal ming these, you know, Koreem, I'm like,
let's see if you can stop us, because nobody is
geared to stop you down low, and I think somebody

(21:04):
is gonna be not everybody's gonna be built like Victor
Wemben Yama you're gonna get guys who were still big men.

Speaker 4 (21:11):
Yeahs, Marv, but we see that now with the Joker.
The Joker he can do all that stuff where he
has the ball almost like a water polo player, but
there's plenty of times where he gets old school back
you down, and he's got great touch around the basket
where nobody can do anything with him because these guys
aren't built to defending them posts.

Speaker 3 (21:30):
It's like Luca as well.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
I mean, Luca can shoot the three, but Luca does
get to the hoop, Luca gets in the lane, lob passes,
and he's physical.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
These guys are big guys.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live. Let's overreact, or maybe we're just reacting. The
Packers are the team to beat in the NFC right now.
I don't think you can argue that they've beaten two

(22:03):
really good teams, and yes, one was on the road,
one was at home. But I think in the fashion
that they beat the Lions and the Commanders, they roughed
them up. They roughed them up and they looked impressive,
and well two home games, I should say, so, yes.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
You knock those two off. You check the boxes there
with two teams, playoff teams who've gone to NFC title games.
And now all of a sudden, you've got everybody's attention.
This is a team that always scored. Last year, they scored,
they'd get you twenty points, they'd average twenty points a.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
Game, maybe more than that.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
Now you've got defense, and if you're able to put pressure,
you're able to stop dynamic players. Now, all of a sudden,
you've changed the perception of your team because it feels
like they're a defensive first team. And if you're going
to hit the quarterback twelve times, of a sudden, he's

(23:01):
back there, and now he's thinking instead of your thinking
about the wide receiver, you're thinking about the play. Now
you're thinking about where where is that guy? Because Michael Parsons.
You can look at the stats, and the stats, to me,
they really don't incorporate how great he is. Because let's
say somebody gets a sack and it's not Michael Parsons.

(23:22):
Pretty much guarantee that Michael Parsons had something to do
with that person getting a sack or holding calls. That's
like a sack if you're going to be holding and
he's the one that is being held. Once again, that value.
There's only a couple of players like that in the NFL.
That's why I know Jerry's going to go to his
graves saying he made a great deal trading away Michael Parsons.

(23:45):
They I think Green Bay paid too much for him
given the market, but giving up the run stopper and
two first round picks, you saw the difference. There's only
five or six players who are like that defensively, and
he might be at the top of the list of
he's gonna put pressure, he's gonna make sure you know

(24:06):
where he is, and he's gonna make everybody better on
passing downs. The one thing I would caution is I
want to ease him into the season, and I know
that when you have a shiny new toy, you're like, God,
I got to get him out there. I want him
to play. He wants to get out there. He's lobbying
Matt Laflor to get him out there to play a
little bit more.

Speaker 3 (24:26):
A long season.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Long season players are going to get hurt teams are
gonna be up, they're gonna be down, and it happens
every single year. It's really really rare when a team
doesn't go through a rough patch, and green Bay will
have that this year. But what we've seen so far
with the Lions and the Commanders, and I don't think
those scores are indicative of just how much better green
Bay was than those teams. But the Packers aren't suddenly

(24:51):
Super Bowl contenders because they traded for Micah Parsons. In
my opinion, I just think they've always been contenders top
to bottom, and now you put the finish, fishing touch
and getting a player like that, and now I think
they're the team to beat in the NFC. Now, let's
see what happens with the Eagles against Kansas City. If
the Eagles, who are favored slight favorites, go into Kansas
City and they put up impressive numbers, I just think

(25:14):
it's so hard. And you know, players talk about when
you're winning championships, you get full, and it's hard to
eat when you're full, and maybe the Eagles are going to,
you know, go through that where they might not be
as hungry as they've been before.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
It happens.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
That's why we don't have back to back champions been
a long, long, long time. But going to Kansas City
that will have my attention. There's a couple of games
that have my attention in the NFL. The Patriots against
the Dolphins. It's a division game, but I think all
eyes are on Mike McDaniel, the Dolphins head coach, like

(25:53):
that's a must winish game in my opinion. The Broncos
against the Colts. It's just one of those games where
you go, I normally wouldn't really care about it, but
now I kind of do you know, Buffalo after a
big win and then they're on the road against the Jets.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
I'm not saying, but I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (26:18):
Those are the games that always get my attention where
you go, I don't know, it's a weird feeling. The Chargers,
the Chargers against the Raiders, I don't know, big game
on the road, come back and now you're going to
face them, and I don't know. Just a couple of those.

(26:40):
I got a few of those in college football as well.
That'll run down eight, seven to seven to three. DP
show email address Dpatdanpatrick dot com, Twitter handle at dp
show good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, thank you
for downloading the app, and we say good morning to
our radio affiliates as well. All Right, poll question seating
for the first hour the program is going to be what.

Speaker 7 (27:00):
Very exciting day, very exciting day. We've got our first
dude poll question. Ooh yeah, we'll just sent this one
over dude, Green Bay Packers. Dude, dude, that's a start
to the season.

Speaker 3 (27:11):
Yeah, it is. That's announcing your presence.

Speaker 5 (27:15):
Yeah, Pauline, And if you're a Packer fan, you're on
National TV. Wipe the floor with the Commanders. Then you
got the rest of the weekend the watch football. You
can just put your feet up, relax, no tension. You
got the Wisconsin Bama game, and the next three weeks
the Packers have Browns, Cowboys, Bengals, then Cardinals. Those are
three or four very winnable games.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
By the way, the Bills are favored by six and
a half at the Jets. The Patriots are getting two
and a half at the Dolphins. Eagles are one and
a half point favored at the Chiefs. Mahomes I think
has been a home underdog. This is the second time
in his career and the Chargers are getting three and
a half at the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
What else do you have Seaton today?

Speaker 7 (27:55):
Dude, Aaron Judge having a season.

Speaker 3 (27:59):
He is not as good as last season. Do well.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
He ties Joe Demagio in the all time home run list,
and uh, he's got forty six home runs this season.
I never considered Joe Demagio a home run hitter, but okay,
we can celebrate milestones. And it's a big name there
that he's going to pass in, Joe Demagio. I think
if you check, I mean, Joe Demagio is underrated, great centerfielder,

(28:29):
and uh, you know he would bat three fifty three sixty,
But I don't think he ever hit forty home runs
in a season. But here's Judge, who, oh, by the way,
has got forty six home runs. I think Demaggio had
more home runs than strikeouts in his entire career. I

(28:50):
think he struck out like three hundred and fifty times
or something in his career.

Speaker 3 (28:55):
Yeah, Paul, it's really close.

Speaker 5 (28:57):
Joe Demasho three hundred and sixty nine career strikeouts, three
hundred and sixty one career home runs. He hit forty
six homers his second year in the league and thirty
nine later in his life, but his career average JODEMACU
was three twenty five. He also missed three seasons aged
twenty eight, twenty nine, and thirty because of military service.

Speaker 2 (29:15):
Well that's why when I go back and I look
at Ted Williams stats and he missed three prime years
twenty eight, twenty nine, thirty, I think, you know, I mean,
he was a pirate fighter pilot in the war and
then comes home and is still the greatest hitter. I mean,
he didn't do a meet and greet. He wasn't like Elvis,

(29:36):
you know, or we're gonna do a fundraiser. Bob Hope
wasn't you know, overseas. But you know, you look at
Ted Williams.

Speaker 3 (29:44):
What do you have? Five to twenty one? Yeah.

Speaker 5 (29:46):
Ted Williams hit five hundred and twenty one home runs.
He missed three seasons at age twenty five, twenty six,
and twenty seven. If you parade his home runs casually
another one hundred, he'd be at six twenty and a
career batting average of three forty four.

Speaker 2 (30:01):
Yeah, it might be the greatest hitter of all time. Yeah,
I know, Babe, Ruth put up incredible numbers as well.
But but Teddy ballgame missing three years and he's a
fighter pilot. It's not like, hey, Elvis, can you come
out and perform? Can you shake some hands here? Well, yeah,

(30:23):
I will. That wasn't a very good Elvis in personally,
I said, I will. Yes, Marmon, I was agreeing with you.
It wasn't a great thanks.

Speaker 3 (30:33):
You're right, it wasn't. Yes.

Speaker 5 (30:35):
You imagine you're the enemy. You're flying your playing You
look over like.

Speaker 3 (30:37):
Is that Ted Williams about to shoot me down? This
one is splinter. No one else could do it any
wore his batting helmet. That was the weird thing.

Speaker 7 (30:45):
Black.

Speaker 3 (30:45):
Yeah, eye black. That's not true. No, it's it's it's not.
It's not by the way, wearing the eye black.

Speaker 2 (30:55):
Tucker Craft South Dakota is South Dakota State or South
dak Coda. He had a big night last night. Here
is Jordan Love on his big tight end.

Speaker 12 (31:08):
I'm expecting big things from Tuck this year. But it's just,
you know, it's one of those things that that's what
Tucky is. Every day, you know, he comes in and
puts that work in and you know, in practice every
day he's making those big time plays and he's very
consistent right now. So I don't think it's a secret
for him to go out there and you know ball
like he does first time having one hundred yards, which
is pretty cool for him. But yeah, I mean he

(31:30):
just goes out there and takes the work from practice
into the games and is consistent with what he does.
So you know, some we gotta keep building on with him.
But you know, Tuta, a guy's gonna.

Speaker 4 (31:38):
Have a big year.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
South Dakota State jack rabbits there, Doucker Kraft people scrambling
for their fantasy team.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
So I got him. I claimed him. I got him.

Speaker 2 (31:49):
Jaydon Daniels ran seven times for seventeen yards. He threw
forty two times for two hundred yards, and fourth time
he's been held under twenty five years rushing in his career. Yeah,
I mean even kind of non threatening. Although I do
love what I see from him. He just he stands

(32:11):
tall in the pocket. I didn't think he was going
to have a great game here, just on the road
with this defense, and he just felt like green Bay.
Green Bay should have won by you know, four touchdowns.
I thought that they were that much better there John Coon,
who played fullback for the Packers. He's now a broadcaster

(32:32):
in Green Bay. He will join us coming up. Herm Edwards,
who coached Jayden Daniels at Arizona State. You played to
win the game. He'll join us a little bit later
on as well. Eagles, Chiefs, Patriots, Dolphins, Seahawks, Steelers, Broncos, Colts, Falcons, Vikes,
just to.

Speaker 3 (32:49):
Name a few. College football, Wisconsin and Alabama. Yikes.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
Now, Wisconsin is a big underdog here, like this is
a must It's a must.

Speaker 3 (33:03):
Win situation for Calen Devor.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
All right, Mike McDaniel the Dolphins against the Patriots. Phil's
must winish as well. When it's Wisconsin. Are they three
touchdown underdogs? I got yeah, they're twenty wow, twenty one
point underdogs. Georgia Tennessee is great and I'd love to
have gone to that game. Arkansas, Oh, Miss A and

(33:26):
M Notre Dame. It's not must winish because your Notre Dame,
but A and M getting six and a half. Wouldn't
you like it if you actually got six and a half,
Like you walk in and it's A and M six
point five Notre Dame zero. We might get to that

(33:49):
one day with our gambling, Florida against LSU must winish
for Billy Napier, even though there're seven point underdogs at
LSU and Vandy, South Carolina Spiceye Diego Pavilla, Vandy getting
three at South Carolina. So just some of the and

(34:10):
South Florida. So Florida, my balls, they're well, I think
seventeen and a half point underdogs.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
So you're saying, well, you have a chance. Yes, Marvin,
make sure you tell everybody.

Speaker 4 (34:21):
It's on the c W. Yeah, it's right after One
Tree Hill. CW.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
I never saw One Tree Hill.

Speaker 4 (34:27):
It's like a Dawson's Creek ish type teen drama.

Speaker 3 (34:30):
But Katie Holmes was in Dawson Creek. Yeah, correct, Okay.

Speaker 4 (34:34):
Chad Michael Murray wasn't One Tree Hill.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
I met him one time at a celebrity football game,
I think at the Beach Bowl.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
Oh, yes, in New York. He's too good looking. Yeah
I was.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
And I'm rushing out because I have to go to
Newark and get on a plane to go to Russia
for the Olympics, and I've got you know, I'm taking
off my microphone and I'm just rushing out because I
got to get the there's a charter, they're gonna wait
for me, and I'm walking off and I see him.
He goes, hey, I just wanted to say, oh, now

(35:09):
I knew who he was. And then I go, oh, man,
I got a run to the air I mean, I
felt bad like I was big timing him and uh.
Then I tell my daughters and.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
They're like, did you get a picture? I go, well, no,
an autograph, and I go no, I had to rush
to the airport.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
Well will you see him again? And I go, I
don't think so. So they like held this grudge that
I didn't, you know, stop and.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
Talk to him.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
Oh these girls never satisfied. All right, we'll get some
phone calls coming up. Eight seven seven three DP show
operator Tyler's sitting by Morales High on this Friday. I
feel better than I did yesterday. I had I had
the flu. I had a reaction from all the vaccines

(35:57):
three and out with my shingles vaccine, COVID and FLEU
and don't do that, by the way.

Speaker 3 (36:03):
I mean.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
Results may vary, but man, oh man, I was in
bad shape yesterday. But Marvin accurately pointed out a similar
performance to Michael Jordan with the Flu game Thank You.

Speaker 4 (36:15):
I was like, you're Scottie Pippen, holding you up.

Speaker 3 (36:17):
You you were my Scottie pivot.

Speaker 4 (36:21):
It was more like Judd Buschler, but in my head
I was thinking about Scottie.

Speaker 3 (36:24):
You were Steve Kerr
