Dean Blandino, Fox Rules analyst who during Sunday's broad has

(01:00):
said he's done with the tush push. He says, you
can't officiate it. He'll tell us why and does he
think it'll be around next season. Gary Myers, great author,
has another book out, It's Brady Versus Belichick. He'll join
us in the second hour of the program, age seven
to seven to three. DP Show email address Dpatdanpatrick dot com,

(01:21):
Twitter handle at DP show operator Tyler sitting by. You
had a double header last night. Campa Bay beats Houston
late and that's back to back games for Baker Mayfield
Junior the third leading a game winning drive. Chargers handled
the Raiders twenty to nine. But the bigger story was
the man in the booth. Who is the man in

(01:42):
the booth? That's Tom Brady. We'll talk about that coming up.
Injuries to quarterbacks happens every year. Really, it's a game
of attrition. Can you hold on? And if your quarterback
gets banged up, who is your backup quarterback? And here
we go Joe Burrow, JJ mc carthy, maybe Jadeen Daniels
all set to miss some time and their teams are

(02:05):
now trying to figure out we got to keep our
playoff expectations here and now you have to start to
look at your backup quarterbacks. Jake Browning is going to
play for the Bengals. I talked to somebody yesterday who's
in that circle, and they said that the Bengals probably
aren't going to kick the tires on any other quarterback.
I suggested, you know, Kirk Cousins, is that a possibility,

(02:28):
and they said no, or this person said no. And
I don't know if there's somebody else out there. I
think they have confidence in Jake Browning, is what I'm
taking from that. They didn't say that, but I'm taking
that that they feel good about Jake Browning. He's had
some playing time, he knows the system. Now the question
is you'll hold on for dear life for three months.

(02:49):
Carson Wentz, Come on down, Carson Wentz. He used to
be a thing. His first couple of years. He was
an MVP candidate. He was probably winning the MVP. Decided
to take on a couple of Rams tacklers and blew
out his knee and was never the same. He's bounced around.
Now he's going to be in for JJ McCarthy. Jayden
Daniels were not sure justin Field's concussion protocol. We're only

(03:14):
two weeks into the season. That's why having that backup quarterback.
If you're a fan of a team do your homework
and find out who your backup quarterback is, because look
at the Niners, I don't think they're losing much mac
Jones being in there as opposed to brock Perty. I
don't think there's a big difference between the two. Jimmy Garoppolo,

(03:38):
you know, another backup quarterback, high end backup quarterback. You know,
you have the Falcon situation where you do have Kirk Cousins.
You know, Pennix has played pretty well, but Kirk Cousins
is there, and that's probably the best high end backup
quarterback you can have, and you're certainly spending a lot
of money on them. All right, Seaton poll question in

(04:00):
the first hour of the program.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
Is well, we've got a couple options here, oh and
two team that will make the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (04:09):
We have many, many options here.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Unfortunately, this is a tradition, a time honored tradition of
the Tuesday after the Monday night games Week two.

Speaker 6 (04:19):
The two teams accurate.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
Okay, so the starting the AFC if he wants, so
we can categorize this a little bit. We have Jets, Dolphins, Chiefs, Browns, Texans, Titans.

Speaker 5 (04:32):
That's a wide array of teams, right.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
There anybody not picking the Chiefs in here. Although Seton
doesn't think they're making the playoffs. Okay, I'm riding with that. Okay, Texans, boy,
that's a weird I don't know, it's a weird feeling
because it felt like we got our guy, we got
our quarterback, we got our coach, we got some defensive players,

(04:55):
a couple of skilled position players. Now they got a
couple of injuries there with Mixon and Dell, and you're
in a winnable division, as they've proven.

Speaker 6 (05:06):
But c J.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Stroud last night did not look crisp did not. He
looked choppy, little choppy. Yeah, he looked choppy. That's a
game you gotta win. And but give credit to Tampa
Bay because their offensive line was decimated. Baker Mayfield played great.
And what he does that I love seeing is he's
not a guy where there's pressure and he starts to

(05:30):
roll out right, he steps up in the pocket. He's
not a big guy, not a tall guy, but he
steps up, he climbs up into the pocket and he
is very decisive. He's not athletic, but he's decisive. And
I love that element about my quarterback. I don't want
you going on, He's like, okay, no, no boom, and

(05:53):
he was third option with the first touchdown pass that
was you know, highlighted. Troy Aikman mentioned that it was
like boom, boom, boom, and you've got to be decisive
back there. So the Texans watching them, that's a game
you have to win. You're at home, you got to
win that game. So I would say I still have

(06:13):
my money on the Chiefs Texans in the on deck circle.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
With that, it kind of feels like, yeah, after the
Chiefs and maybe the Texans, it kind of really drops
off that list, though. I have a hard time seeing
any of those teams make the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
Baker Mayfield with the touchdown pass fifty nine seconds to go,
the first Bucks quarterback to open a season with game
winning drives in consecutive games since nineteen eighty Doug Williams

(06:53):
Sampa Bay.

Speaker 6 (06:54):
Opened up two.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
And oh and that's the fifth consecutive year they've started
out too, And oh, what other pole questions do you have?

Speaker 7 (07:01):
There?

Speaker 6 (07:02):
See no counter?

Speaker 4 (07:03):
Well, we've got to finish this one because we haven't
even gotten to the NFC yet. Oh okay, less options
there though, Okay, your NFC options for zero and two
team that will make the playoffs Giants, Bears, Panthers, Saints.
So I have to pick one, I guess, Okay, so

(07:24):
you have to. Are we gonna split it with the
AFC team and the NFC team just to incorporate a
couple extra teams in there and make it interesting, because
really nobody on that list. You're not taking anybody on
that list? Is it over in Chicago already? After two weeks?

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Of course, it just feels like everybody kind of came
out of nowhere and it's like this is over. Then
you know this is a bad marriage between quarterback and coach.
All right, hold on to those thoughts for the next
fifteen games. We'll see Catleb Williams. I didn't think is
the problem. Caleb Williams. I thought looked okay in that game.

(08:04):
The defense didn't look good at all. That's where i'd start.
Ben Johnson is an offensive coordinator who's now a head coach.
I'm going to expect Caleb Williams to improve what you need.

Speaker 6 (08:18):
And this is the hard part.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
When you were athletic in college and now you're being asked,
don't be as athletic, step up in the pocket. Play
more like Jared Goff does, and I can coach you,
but if you continue to try to scramble out of trouble,
then it's not going to work. It doesn't work for
any quarterback if that's the case, because unless you're Lamar

(08:43):
or Josh Allen, and there aren't any other ones like that,
you can't escape.

Speaker 6 (08:48):
Now.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Joe Burrow's athletic. Joe Burrow's down for the next three months.
Jaden Daniels athletic. Is anybody he might not be able
to play this next week with his knee injury. Step
up in the pocket, trust your team and be able
to throw. Be able to throw and be decisive. Those
are the would be the advice that I would be

(09:10):
giving my young quarterback. And I'm sure Ben Johnson is
saying that, Caleb, this is in usc You're not going
to escape the pressure. And the more you run around,
the more likely it is you either get sacked or
you throw in an interception. Let's live to you know,
call another play here. But I still expect the Bears

(09:31):
to be dangerous. Well, they might be dangerous. I'm not
ready to move on to next year because Pauli is like,
get a head down a little bit, and I said, hey,
come on, come on on, Buckaroo, keep your head up.

Speaker 8 (09:42):
Well, not jumping off cliffs and saying Ben Johnson will
be a failure like something.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
Yeah, well it's a hot take, piping hunt. What else
do you have, Seaton?

Speaker 4 (09:55):
Let's see all right? Yeah, so we had Giants, Bears, Panthers, Saints.
Now the flip side of that full question and as
we always do, the two and oh team that won't
make the playoffs. They're currently two and oh, but they
won't make the playoffs. This is NFC heavy AFC light,
so you.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
Have to be at least two and oh correct to
qualify for this poll question. Yes, how about we save
this one. See, I'm gonna save this one. I want
to save the Tom Brady in the coaching booth last night.
Oh brother, they didn't even try to hide the fact
they're showcasing Tom last night.

Speaker 6 (10:30):
He's there with Chip Kelly headset on.

Speaker 8 (10:35):
Oh boy, yes, Paul, I'm going to put a Raiders
hat on and a Raiders hoodie. He's wearing a shertain
tie and it looks like a superstar.

Speaker 6 (10:45):
Yeah, he probably had makeup on.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
You know, he's just sitting there looking great, and he's
got his headset on next.

Speaker 8 (10:50):
To four dudes who are wearing the same exact thing headsets, hat, hoodie.
We'll get to that coming up as well. Yes, Paul,
I have a pull off last night's winners. Which team
feels more super bowlish? The Chargers or the Buccaneers.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Buccaneers Buccaneers their division. They've won the division even with
a banged up offensive line. Godwin's not back yet, and
they win that game on the road, I would say
them now. I expected the Chargers to win last night
against the Raiders, and I was surprised that the Raiders

(11:26):
did not put up a good fight and Gino threw
three interceptions. Ashton Genty is getting used to NFL speed,
by the way, Like I'm watching and I'm going, you know,
at Boise State, they might have broken a couple of
those tackles, but all of a sudden, those defensive linemen
are those edge rushers. They can catch you, and so
can the defensive backs and the linebackers as well. And

(11:47):
I'm going, oh boy, you're watching somebody in real time
understand NFL speed versus college speed. Now, do I still
think he'll be a very good running back.

Speaker 6 (11:57):
Yes, I do. I do.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
This is where Hey, there was a hole here, like
a second ago. Where did it go. That's the NFL.
When you throw a pass, man, you were oh wait,
he's not opening. That's the NFL. College it's like, man,
there's a hole here. Dude, you're throwing a pass to
a wide receiver. He's wide, wide, wide open. That's the difference.

Speaker 9 (12:23):
Yes, Marvin, Yeah, in the NFL, NFL receivers they're wide open.
Is I have a step on this guy?

Speaker 6 (12:29):
Yeah? College, I have.

Speaker 9 (12:31):
Eight steps on him. It's a whole different ballgame. Asking
you's learning the hard way.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
You have to throw somebody open in the NFL. In college,
you rarely have to do that. It's there's a window here,
here's a small it just closed. It's that quick. That's
why you got to be decisive. When you see these
quarterbacks and when you go through your progressions, your progressions
are split second. It's like snapshot, no snapshot, no boom

(13:00):
Miller in the corner of the end. Like it's that quick.
But that's the amazing part of those who do it
slow the game down. I don't know how they do it,
but in every sport, the great ones will tell you,
including the great one himself. He said the game slowed.
He saw the game differently. Montana talked about how he

(13:24):
saw the game differently. But it takes a while to
understand what am I looking at. I think we've all
gone to an art exhibit and we go, I don't know,
and then somebody else comes in and go that Rothko,
I mean, that's fifty million dollars, and I go, I
could have painted that. That's what it is to be
a quarterback in the NFL. It's like there's something there.

(13:47):
There is yes being able to find it, how quickly
you find it, that's what your success and failure kind
of hinges on. All right, just getting started. We come
back the Argers handling the Raiders. No surprise there, Tom
Brady in the coaching booth, little surprise there. We'll talk

(14:08):
about that in the conflict of interest question. Mark back
after this Dan Patrick Show.

Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific

Speaker 2 (14:54):
Uh huh, people fired up. All of our phone lines
are busy. Aged seven to seven three DP show operator
Tyler sitting by, got our play of the day coming up.
The old conflict of interest came up again last night.
Now I've made my opinion public. I've let it be known.
I don't think that it helps anybody that.

Speaker 6 (15:16):
Now.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
I understand the NFL is in the entertainment business and
they want Tom Brady involved. He's a minority owner of
the Raiders. They also won him in there as an
analyst for Fox. And I was like, Okay, this is
going to be a conflict of interest at some point.
But if the owners are okay, the commissioner's okay, teams
are okay, then all right, I'll be okay with it.

(15:40):
And then last night I see Tom He's in the
coaches booth. He's there helping Chip Kelly the offensive corder.

Speaker 6 (15:47):
He's got a hitset on.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
And I'm thinking, okay, let me look at Tom's schedule
here coming up, just in case there's a conflict of interest,
Like he would be doing a game and then that
team would be playing the Raiders. Well, he's got the
Cowboys and the Bears, and then the Bears play the Raiders.
That's a direct conflict of interest right now. Can he

(16:15):
do his job for Fox while being the minority owner
of the Raiders when he goes into talk to Ben
Johnson and Caleb Williams because his job is to glean information.
His job is to and this is what happens.

Speaker 6 (16:28):
In those production meetings. The coaches and players.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
They'll tell you things, but they're asking you you can't
use this. Don't use this until game day in the
flow of a game. It's really the un unspoken embargo
on information. Well, if you're the Bears and Tom Brady
comes in knowing you play the Raiders the following week,

(16:55):
then how forthcoming are you? So then Tom's not able
to do his for Fox. If the NFL wants him
in there, great, I get it, But you know, on
the surface, it doesn't look good that he's in there
with a headset on next to the offensive coordinator, and

(17:16):
the fact that they're blatant. They didn't hide it. You know,
Tom's not in the corner, he's not wearing sunglasses and
a hat or a hoodie. But it's just not a
good look. And Tom has to do his job for Fox.
They're paying him thirty seven million dollars a year, and
you know, maybe it's not that big a deal. I've had,

(17:38):
you know, a former quarterback saying, you know, he's going
to find out that information. He said, Okay, he doesn't
have to go to production meeting. Now, he wasn't allowed
to go to practices, you know. Now all of a sudden,
it's like, yeah, well, you know, the NFL kind of
scoots along and says, yeah, we'll take a little bit
of a hit here, little pr hit, but that's okay.
We still want Tom there, and I understand that. It

(18:02):
just it feels wrong. There's a conflict of interest. Now,
we did reach out to everybody, the commissioner. We also
reached out to Fox to see if maybe you know
somebody there with their NFL coverage, because it might hurt
their coverage a little bit.

Speaker 6 (18:21):
Yes, Marvin, do.

Speaker 9 (18:22):
You think people would be in an uproar if he
was sitting in the owner owner's box a Lah, Robert Craftford,
Jerry Jones.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
I wouldn't have as much of a problem with that
that I did with him being in the coaches booth.
He's he's directly now he should have helped out Geno
Smith a little more.

Speaker 6 (18:38):
But that's different. That's different owners. Okay, just he's there, he's.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
Minority owner, all right, you know, having a cocktail and
you know, chatting up with Mark Davis this you got
the headset on. How would you feel if he was
on the sidelines with a headset on? I might as
well be. And I know, maybe this isn't a big deal.

(19:05):
Maybe it's not. I just I don't like the look
of this, Yes, Martin, I think it would be a
bigger deal if they won.

Speaker 6 (19:16):
Probably so, Probably so, Yes, Todd.

Speaker 11 (19:20):
I think it's also exacerbated by the fact that you're
talking about a sport that's just got seventeen games, and
one game could be the difference or one piece of
information in a holding game or a playoff spot altogether.
If there's some game in June and Baseball a Cub
Brewer series and he's in the Cubs booth or whatever,
and he owns whatever, you know, part of the Pirates whatever.
That's the fact that there's just so few games that
could possibly be an outcome that could affect things later on.

Speaker 6 (19:41):
Yeah, yeah, plull.

Speaker 8 (19:42):
And for it to not be a conflict of interest,
you had to believe that Tom Brady would gather information
from whatever team and not bring it back to the
Raiders coaching staff. Of course he would, because otherwise he's
not giving the Raiders their full value and vice versa.

Speaker 6 (19:57):
Fox.

Speaker 8 (19:58):
Now they're gonna have him going to production meetings and
those teams are going to be hesitant to give Brady anything,
especially if they're on the schedule coming.

Speaker 6 (20:05):
So now he's.

Speaker 8 (20:06):
Three quarters of an analyst on Fox, and Fox is
paying thirty seven and a half million dollars for that.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
Now, I did hear from somebody who's I don't want
to you know, somebody who has to say in this
or at least they know what's going on, and they said, hey,
you're missing a point here too, that Ben Johnson may
say to Tom Brady, tell me what you see with
help me with Caleb Williams, like he may use Tom

(20:31):
to get information to help Caleb Williams.

Speaker 6 (20:34):
Yes, both.

Speaker 8 (20:35):
That's a bigger conflict of interest because now he's selling
out the Raiders to help another team competitively, which first
of all, broadcasters are not allowed.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
That's what I would be saying if I'm Ben Johnson,
I would say to Tom, I want to put Tom
on the spot. If you're in my production meeting, we're
coming in in, you're interviewing me. I want to ask
you some questions. I want you to tell me what
do you see with Caleb bams Well, I mean.

Speaker 8 (20:59):
No, I know you right what you're saying with that's
the worst conflict of interest because now the Raiders are
getting short changed and they after they get it into
the ownership. The funniest part of last night is they're
in the booth and they showed Tom for the second
time and Tom's like six'. Four he's the tallest guy
in the. Booth even, sitting he's. Stunt you know how
you do that thing on your chair that goes to
make it go. Down, Yeah brady hit the chair and

(21:20):
starts going lower and lower like he's hiding out like
anyone missed.

Speaker 6 (21:25):
It, well he might have been, told, dude you're on.

Speaker 8 (21:27):
Camera you could see them looking up the monitor in
the booth and they all realize you're on.

Speaker 6 (21:32):
Camera Here's Pete.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
Carroll after the, GAME i asked About Tom brady in
the coaches.

Speaker 12 (21:42):
Booth there was a report That Tom brady meets three
times a week or so With Chip, kelly goes over
film with. Them we saw him up in the booth
with the headset. ON i just was curious your thoughts
on that level of of participation With Tom.

Speaker 13 (21:57):
Brady, yeah that's not it's not. Accurate that's not if
if that's not. Accurate we have. CONVERSATIONS i talked To.
Tom chip talks To tom. REGULARLY i, mean we have
a tremendous asset and, so you, know and we all
get along well and we respect each other and so
we just, talked you, know about life and football and
whatever it comes and, uh and we he has great.

(22:20):
Insight so we're lucky to have him as an.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
Owner, okay you have conversations with him like three times
a week or and you talk about football and life
and you're you're not using, him then if you're not
asking him football, questions then you're doing a disservice to the. Relationship,
hey it's like If Warren buffett came in here AND i, went,

(22:44):
No i'm just gonna ask him about, life not an.
Investment yeah you, know, Hey, Warren, uh we talked to
you about your love of ice. Cream, Yes, Dodd.

Speaker 11 (22:56):
Tom will get me like hotel and restaurant, recommendations things like.
That even really get into flipball a, much come to
think of.

Speaker 6 (23:02):
It, yeah, Yeah, Uh i'm.

Speaker 2 (23:09):
Guessing Knowing tom how competitive he, is of course he
has something to say To Chip. Kelly you'd be crazy
not to tap into. That that's why when somebody, said,
Oh tom's not really involved with The, raiders you, know
it's minority, ownership AND i, said you are absolutely, delusional.
Delusional tom is still competitive and he wants to. Win

(23:33):
he Has Mark davis's, Ear he has autonomy. There Peter
schrager is the one who reported last there's TWO nfl
reporters who have said the same thing About tom talking
to the offensive coordinator three times a. Week, okay these
are guys who don't Miss they are reporting. This yes

(23:53):
by THE.

Speaker 8 (23:54):
Nfl though they greenlit this three years ago when they
let him do both because they wanted star power in multiple.
Places and what will likely happen this week is we
called THE, Nfl we call. In they'll go radio silent
until there's A thursday night football game and then hopefully
we all move.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
On, yeah it is, definitely well, no until The raiders
play The, bears and then this is going to be
a big deal.

Speaker 6 (24:17):
Again so they.

Speaker 8 (24:19):
Can't they can't unring this.

Speaker 6 (24:21):
Bell, no they. Can't, NO.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
I just, okay THE nfl is okay with, it the
owners are okay with, it teams are okay with.

Speaker 6 (24:31):
It then you, know all, right what?

Speaker 14 (24:35):
What?

Speaker 15 (24:36):
What in?

Speaker 8 (24:36):
All, seriously, though if If I'm Jerry, JONES i Call
Troy aikman and, said you'd like to be a consultant
because it's now. Greenlit Troy aikman's a genius of, football
AND i would actually Bring Troy aikman as a consultant.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
Role or you say you want a piece of the, Team, Troy, sure,
yeah we'll give you A we'll give you a small.
Piece do you want to do that while you continue
to do games where it's Got sundays?

Speaker 5 (24:57):
Off he, said, guys it's completely sick Break. Okay he
would never do?

Speaker 3 (25:01):
That did come?

Speaker 5 (25:02):
On that's.

Speaker 4 (25:02):
Insulting that is insulting to suggest that he would do.

Speaker 5 (25:06):
That, yeah come, ON.

Speaker 6 (25:08):
I wouldn't had him in the coaches, booth that's.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
ALL i would have given him a rapid radio AND
i would have, said just you, know pushed the button
and talked To. Chip maybe do, that you know a
couple of. Times, Yeah, paul.

Speaker 8 (25:22):
Whole question Was Tom brady invited to join the coaches
booth or Did Tom brady walk in and nobody told
him to not be in the coaches?

Speaker 6 (25:29):
Booth which do you think?

Speaker 2 (25:31):
HAPPENED i would think with his relationship With Chip kelly
that this was.

Speaker 6 (25:37):
Mutual, Hey.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
I'm gonna be in, there but you, know there is you,
know it's like when you have that amicable, split, like,
hey we both came to the same decision at the
same time that we're going to break. Up OH i
was going to break up. Too i'm going to guess
somebody had to bring it. Up, maybe you, Know tom
Told Mark, Davis, Hey i'm going to be in the.

Speaker 6 (26:00):
Booth now does.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
He just walk in and all of a sudden got
his head set on and he's got his you, know
sharpies and a notepad and they're, like, hey Hey, Tom hey.

Speaker 6 (26:11):
Guys was it bring your own? Headsetting?

Speaker 2 (26:14):
YEAH i thought that maybe he'd have like the play
call sheet up by his face so we wouldn't be
able to see what he was.

Speaker 9 (26:20):
Calling, Yes, marvin does he even run it By Mark?
Davis just as does he just go To Chip kelly
And Pete. Carroll, hey, Guys i'm thinking about coming in
To vegas On monday. Night oh, yeah, yeah, sure you
can come into the to the coaches.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
BOOTH i would give the owner a heads. Up i'm
going to be in Town, mark BUT i want to
help Out. Chip i'm going to be in the. Booth
and If I'm Mark, DAVIS i say. Absolutely they've already
green lit, this so let's we can be blatant with.

Speaker 6 (26:46):
This, Yes, tom can he Overrule Chip? Kelly and it
was forty four blue?

Speaker 11 (26:49):
Slim, Well, chip we're going to red x eighty, Nine
red x eighty.

Speaker 6 (26:53):
Nine maybe that's Why gino had a bad. Night he's, like,
gott wait a, minute who's talking to? Me is This?
Tom is This? Chip?

Speaker 3 (27:00):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (27:00):
Well What's? Chip?

Speaker 2 (27:01):
Now It's? Tom another? Interception all, RIGHT a couple of
phone calls in here once, again we do have phone calls.
Out nobody's gonna go on the, show but we at
least reached out just to find out that nobody has
a problem with. It, oh shut up, talking, hairdoo deal with. It, Yeah,

(27:22):
seaton you've got a problem with.

Speaker 14 (27:24):
Them what.

Speaker 4 (27:26):
It's it's one of those things that makes me feel
Like i'm losing my. Mind it's that much of a.
Problem AND i can't believe that people don't also sweel that.

Speaker 5 (27:33):
Way, yeah it's baffling to.

Speaker 6 (27:39):
Me it's, spygate the flake.

Speaker 4 (27:42):
Gate, WELL i mean there is there is a, history
a little bit a little bit of a, history even
though those.

Speaker 5 (27:49):
Are, fake this is a Real.

Speaker 15 (27:51):
Yes.

Speaker 6 (27:54):
Commissioner's okay with.

Speaker 2 (27:56):
This you would, think you, KNOW i always think, back
you know the and you know you had the fumble
When woodson Hit tom and then they didn't call. It you,
know they changed the rule in the Moment vinitari in the.

Speaker 4 (28:08):
Snow, see this is what really pisses me off about,
this all. Right The patriots Had. Spygate, okay. Spygate when
you really look at what spygate. Was you're allowed to
videotape the sidelines and signals from this, area but if
you go fifteen feet that.

Speaker 5 (28:24):
Way you're not allowed to do it.

Speaker 4 (28:25):
Anymore and that's where The patriots were recording their stuff,
from was from the place that you're not allowed to
do it. From but if they'd just moved over to
the other, spot it would have been perfectly. Okay that's
where every other team records the sideline. Signals that was
a huge, problem that fifteen. Feet that led to one
of the biggest scandals the game has ever. Seen but
this a broadcaster sitting in other teams meetings and then

(28:46):
going back to the team that he partially owns and
sitting in the coaches.

Speaker 6 (28:50):
Booth that's perfectly.

Speaker 5 (28:51):
Okay nothing to see, here that's.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
Crazy, Uh dave And Nova, Scotia, Hi, dave what's on
your mind?

Speaker 6 (28:59):
Today?

Speaker 15 (29:01):
Hey but.

Speaker 16 (29:03):
Gone are the days Where David Nova scotia would call
into THE dp show to complain About Mike glennon And josh.
McCown we've Got Baker mayfield, Now, danny and the dude
is an absolute. Baller i've got a quick question for
you in the show and a s out of the.
DAY i can't remember have we seen any other quarterback
with this type of career resurgence Like Baker.

Speaker 7 (29:24):
Mayfield and as far as the stat of.

Speaker 15 (29:27):
The, day let's go sound the, Music Seaton Marvin.

Speaker 7 (29:43):
Danny only two teams IN nfl history have ever started
two and zero despite trailing both games with one minute
left in the fourth quarter seventy Nine browns and your
twenty twenty Five Just bowl Champion Gavin Bay. Buccaneers well.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
DONE i mentioned during the Game Baker mayfield had his helmet,
off AND i sent a text to The Dan. NETS i,
Said Baker mayfield would have been a part Of Cobra.
Kai he would have Taken Daniel son.

Speaker 6 (30:14):
Out.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
Definitely he would have been A Cobra. Kaire you would
have swoop the leg he would. Have he would have
put him in a body. Bag mo In, ARIZONA I,
mo what's on your mind?

Speaker 6 (30:26):
Today?

Speaker 15 (30:27):
Boy And Dan?

Speaker 14 (30:28):
Dannetz we all Know shanahan's a good, coach except for
The Super bowl when he had a. Lead but do
you think it's, possible even all the money that they've
given Brock, purty IF i say he doesn't play the
next few games And Met jones has the same performance
that he's had last, week do you think it's possible
That shanahan may actually go with Mac, jones even though

(30:49):
he liked him coming out of the.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
Draft, No, no if you knew what you had in
Mac jones and you thought that that was equal to Brock,
purty then you don't offer Brock purty that. Contract DO
i think Brock purty is two hundred and fifty million
dollars better than Mac?

Speaker 6 (31:06):
Jones, NO i do.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
NOT i think Mac jones got rare roaded with The,
patriots AND i think he can play the. POSITION i
don't know a high, level BUT i do think he.
CAN i don't think they'll miss that. Much AND i
know that's going to sound as a knock to Brock,
purty but it is an acknowledgment to Mac jones THAT
i do think that he can play the, position and

(31:29):
That shanahan did like, him reportedly liked him going into the.
Draft dave In, Arkansas, Hi, dave what's on your?

Speaker 17 (31:36):
Mind they call Me Pittsburgh. Dave and IF i may
buy her from borrow From mike, Maguire i'm not.

Speaker 6 (31:46):
Here to talk about the.

Speaker 17 (31:47):
Past want to throw something out here for THE nfl,
schedule and we're going to hear me out on all
of this we're going to get rid of one preseason
game down to. TWO i want expanded rosters for the
first four. Weeks we've had all these, injuries so there

(32:11):
are always all these. Injuries why can't we have expanded
rosters for the first four. Weeks, THEN i know you
said that they'll never give up a, week but make
it a business week where we have a dead. Week
it's the trade, deadline it's the cut. Deadline it's everything
to deal. With that's your first buy for all the,
teams all the teams getting.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
There they will never give up a football this. Weekend they.
Won't it's too much. Business and if you're going to eighteen,
Games i've, said expand the roster maybe by, four get more,
players more, money more. Benefits and if you're going to
have an eighteen game, schedule this is going to happen

(32:52):
throughout the. Year this happens every. Year quarterbacks get banged.
Up the most protected person on the field is still
getting banged. Up everything you need to know about this,
sport and these aren't like terrible. INJURIES i don't know
HOW jj McCarthy got banged up Or Joe burrow with
his turf, toe but it's not like they took a

(33:13):
blind side. Hit it's not like they were running and
all of a sudden they ran into a three hundred pound.
Lineman you, Know Justin fields got hit and his had
hit the. Turf you, know a lot of this is
just normal football, plays but we're.

Speaker 6 (33:29):
Going to continue to have.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
This it's just the evolution of the quarterback and on
the move more instead of being in the. Pocket you
had guys who, played you, know every game during the,
season but you know they weren't. Risking you, know it's
the risk and the reward with THE nfl at that position.
There As Steve young has said on multiple occasions on this,

(33:52):
show there is so much out there for you to
take that they're giving it to. You do you want
to take? It and what risk are you willing to
take a. Break our play of The day is. Next

we we.

Speaker 15 (36:31):
Have i'm.

Speaker 18 (36:32):
Lucky, thanks thanks a, Lot, Dan, hey a couple. Comments
being A viking, FAN i. Am i'm very disappointed to
HEAR gj is going to be on the shelf for
a couple of. Weeks but still Like Carson, wentz you,
know he's a big, guy six, five two. FORTY i
think he's still. Talented and his last year At, indy
his full season he, had he had some good numbers
AND i think With kevin O'Connell as his, coach we

(36:54):
got a good offensive, line got. Weapons especially in a
couple of, weeks we Get Jordan addison. Back i'm really
looking forward to see how he looks On. SUNDAY i
think he's going to do really. Well And, dan yesterday
you mentioned That Brandon aubrey is going to be a
free agent coming up after the, season and after his
game On sunday and the career he's had and the
value of. Placekickers Knowing Jerry, JONES i bet you he

(37:18):
tries to re sign him early and he'll break the
bank for. Him it'll be interesting to see if that'll
be a catalyst for a big reset in the pay
scale for elite kickers in THE.

Speaker 2 (37:28):
Nfl, WELL i hope they signed. Him he's your most valuable.
PLAYER i was told this yesterday by AN nfl, well.

Speaker 6 (37:38):
A former executive.

Speaker 2 (37:40):
Here so he, Says, hey if The cowboys are, COMPETITIVE.

Speaker 6 (37:45):
I wouldn't rule this. OUT i, said all, right got my.

Speaker 2 (37:49):
Attention maybe they would take the two first round picks
that they have that they got in the trade With Michael.
Parsons let's say The bengals are out of, this would
they then use those two first round picks to go
After Trey. Hendrickson he, Said i'm just going to throw
that out there as if The bengals are out of,

(38:09):
this you can take that, salary you get a cheaper
version Of Micah parsons if you're going to still be
in the mix there in THE Nfc. EAST i, said all,
Right i'll entertain. THAT i, mean they just brought In jadavian.
CLOWNING i guess they're trying to see if he has anything.

(38:30):
Left ron In, Minnesota, Hi, ron WIT's on your mind?

Speaker 6 (38:34):
Today?

Speaker 3 (38:37):
Hey? Dan what's?

Speaker 13 (38:37):
Up?

Speaker 3 (38:37):
Man this is All Ron johnson out here In minnesota.
ONE i don't know who in the back row said. That,
whoever he must be A Tom brady lover or. SOMETHING
i heard him say that it was only bad because
they filmed fifteen yards too far down the. Field AN
nfl team can never in a film a sideline because
you're going to get signals and all this. Stuff so
that was the only Thing i'll. Say With Tom brady

(39:00):
in the, BOOTH i, Mean i've games in the booth
for college football ON fs, one AND i mean those
deferent coordinators give us a lot of intel to keep
our eyes on blitz, packages different you, know. Formations and
as a former PLAYER i played for The, ravens like
to have a, guy you, know an owner come into our.
DANGO i, mean bashati were if you were to come
into the locker room and, say, hey when you see three,

(39:21):
safeties they're gonna blitz ninety percent of the. Time that's.
Why that's the only. Reason but BUT i mean the
other coaches aren't. Complaining uh maybe they're quietly, complaining but
there's something wrong.

Speaker 2 (39:33):
There, Well i'm sure the coaches are, like all, right
how guarded should we?

Speaker 6 (39:37):
Be eye went and thanks for the phone.

Speaker 2 (39:39):
Call run If i'm these, coach any of these coaches and,
uh you know you got a new coach In, chicago
you Got Tom.

Speaker 6 (39:49):
Brady how much DO i?

Speaker 2 (39:51):
SHARE i WOULD i would have we got to be
coordinated here and what we're, saying he's coming in. Here
BUT i would definitely turn it around in say tell me.

Speaker 6 (40:01):
What you see With, kleb what we can do to
make him? Better see what he?

Speaker 15 (40:06):
Says?

Speaker 6 (40:08):
Uh andrew In, Michigan, Hi, Andrew, hey good, Morning.

Speaker 19 (40:12):
Dan thanks for taking my. Call five to eleven and
ipa away from. Two, Hey i've got to comment on
if our starting quarterback goes down as A lion, fan
And Kyle, allen who was terrible in the preseason, golf going,
down would be, atrocious not. Good, HOWEVER i had a quick,

(40:34):
THOUGHT i think we do have everyone with salary cap where
we could be a seeder For.

Speaker 2 (40:39):
Cousins, well let's let's wait till your quarterback gets. HURT
i wouldn't think that. Way the last THING i want
to think is when my quarterback gets, hurt can we
bring In Kirk. COUSINS i would want to make sure
that my team protected my, quarterback not, hey let's get

(41:00):
ready for our next, quarterback our backup.

Speaker 6 (41:02):
Quarterback one.

Speaker 2 (41:03):
Hour in the books Two more To, Go Gary myers
covered THE nfl for over forty. Years as a new
book it's Called Brady Versus, belichick we'll talk to him
about that, relationship where it was and where it is,
today and does he view this as a conflict of
interest With tom in the coaching. Booth Also Dean, blandido

(41:24):
he's done with the tush push the former head of
officials that THE nfl will stop by as well back
after this

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
