Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio Final Hour.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
On this Wednesday, Dan and the Dann at Dan Patrick Show,
we'll talk some baseball. Former MVP Jimmy Rollins, he's working
for TBS. We will have him recap what we saw
yesterday and what he expects to happen today and tonight,
all four series get underway. You got the Tigers at
three eight, Cubs five oh eight, Yankees seven oh eight,

(00:26):
and then LA at nine to eight Eastern time. Sunday
night to Powerhouses. It's the Lions in Kansas City against
Patrick Mahomes. And that'll be Sunday starting at seven Eastern
on NBC and Peacock. Good morning, if you're watching on Peacock,
our streaming partner Seaton update the poll results. We have
a Travis Hunter game to play. We'll get to more

(00:48):
of your phone calls. Is well eight seven seven three
DP show Tyler sitting by to take those phone calls.
All right, Seatan, let's.

Speaker 3 (00:55):
Recap the most bathroom can wait play in sports right now?

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Or well, this is just baseball.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Actually, Judge Otani cal Raley other Otani has forty seven
percent of that vote. And then after the Joe Flacco
trade what would be real, realistic expectations for the Bengals
that said about seventy three percent not making the playoffs,
still no offense. I'm a little concerned about Joe going
to the Bengals, how so well he is for a quarterback.

(01:27):
He's incredibly old, and he's going to by far the
worst offensive line in football. That's not really an ideal
setup for an aging quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
But if he does get time, he gets to throw
to some really good receivers.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
I think that they're counting on him to hand the
ball off quickly and get the ball out of his
hands even faster.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
And they could have done that with Jake Browning. They
didn't need to trade for Joe.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
I think they trust Joe's thought process a little more.
I think He's gonna they trust his decision making a
little bit more. But man, that does not I hope
that he finishes.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Out his time there upright. Yeah, Yeah. I think he's
been on what seven teams in the last eight years,
or six teams in the last seven years, yes, Paul.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
Yeah, Joe Flacco since twenty eighteen, Baltimore, Denver Jets for
three years, Cleveland Indianapolis, Cleveland, Cincinnati.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Any stat of the day brought to you by Panini America,
the official trading cards of the program. Flacco, through all
of this has still had a pretty good career that
came out of Delaware and ended up being a Super

(02:46):
Bowl MVP. And yes, he's bounced around. He's got a
good playoff record. I don't know if he'll be adding
to that playoff record, but he's there with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
Yeah, poem, would you like a quick who career would
you want? Off the top of my head? Okay, Joe
Flacco not going to the Hall of Fame as a
Super Bowl MVP. I don't think even made a Pro
Bowl in his career. Or Philip Rivers, who could squeak
into the Hall of Fame, never made a Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
I'm gonna let Todd start this game because he doesn't
like Philip Rivers.

Speaker 5 (03:24):
God and strangely, I would take Philip Rivers for no
other reason. When I hear both those names, I would
feel just I think he's more accomplished. Just the name
resonates more As far as who is like a better
quarterback In the annals of NFL, Seatan.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
I'm taking a ring all day.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Okay all day?

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Heck yeah you still. And not only that, but he
was the guy for a long time. He wasn't a
dude who sort of backed into a ring or something
like that. He was the guy and they were like, yeah,
this is our fellow, move him forward. I'll take that
all day. Marvin, Joe Flacco, Paulie, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
I want to be a Super Bowl MVP. I would
have no regrets about my career.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Yeah, I'd be Joe Flanco. You had to your moment,
even though Philip probably is going to be a Hall
of Famer. All right, let's play the Travis Hunter game.
Not sure what the Travis Hunter game is, but uh,
I'm ready for it.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
So when we came into the season, there was a
lot of speculation of how Travis Hunter will be used
on offense and defense. After five weeks, can you guess
if Travis Hunter has played more offensive plays or defensive plays.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
I'm going to say offensive plays. I think people were
looking at him being maybe a full time defensive back
and a part time offensive player, So I would say
offensive plays.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
Marvin offense seton, Yeah, I'll say offense, Fritzy defense, Travis
Hunter has had three hundred and twenty seven snaps this year.
Sixty percent of them were on all defense, thirty nine
percent of them on defense, and it's actually going up.
Last week against Kansas City, he played sixty seven percent
of the offensive plays and thirty nine percent of the

(05:10):
defensive plays.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Surprise, Travis, Travis Hunter. Good. Yeah, I don't think he's
a polished offensive weapon, even though he had some good
catches this past game. I thought that he would be
like a no brainer, great defensive back. I don't know.
I you can watch the game. You couldn't watch a

(05:33):
Colorado game without noticing him, but you can watch a
Jacksonville game and you go, oh, that's right, Yeah I
got Travis Hunter. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (05:40):
Point.

Speaker 4 (05:40):
I'm looking at a few different pre draft articles and
they speculated that he would play eighty percent of the
snaps on defense and maybe come out on obvious running plays,
short yardage plays, and then maybe fifteen to twenty snaps
on offense. And it hasn't gone that way.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Yeah, easing him in, Yeah, Seed.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
I saw a lot of things leading into the Jeff
about how he was a sure thing corner defensively, sure
thing that he was much better on the defensive side
of the ball than he was on the offensive side
of the ball, especially looking at NFL talent, so I'm
really surprised at that.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
But sometimes you're so talented that you don't have technique.
And I don't know enough about looking at his technique
or how he plays the defensive position, but a lot
of that. In the NFL, you have to have technique.
You can't just be a great athlete, even though Dion was,
you can't get away with that stuff. And even running

(06:34):
pass routes like you have to have technique as well.
It's not just great athleticism. All right, Let's see Speaks
in Knoxville, Hey speaks. What's on your mind? Today? Speaks
is gone Aiden in Utah, Hey, Aidan, what's on your mind?

Speaker 7 (06:55):
Edyth Good morning. I got into discussion on social media
with a debate on social media.

Speaker 8 (07:04):
It was kind of.

Speaker 7 (07:05):
Random, but I wanted to get your take on it
so as you can settle it. We were debating between
these three quarterbacks just one, two and three Where they are?
It was Aaron Rogers, Drew Brees, and Matthew Stafford one
two and three. Where would you put those guys?

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Where did you rank them?

Speaker 7 (07:23):
I went Rogers won Stafford to Breeze three.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Okay, I would go Rogers and then Breeze and then Stafford.
But I don't know if that settles the argument there.
But Rogers with his regular season, I mean, Breeze's numbers
are crazy too, and he did win a super Bowl.
Stafford had great numbers as well, got his super Bowl,

(07:50):
but uh, Breeze. I would put Breeze over Stafford. Let's
see Shelley in California. Hi, Shelley, what's on your mind?

Speaker 9 (08:01):
Hi?

Speaker 8 (08:01):
I was wondering if you can sing Happy Birthday to
my husband. He watches your show every day. I wake
up early and put it on for him.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Where is he right now, Shelley.

Speaker 8 (08:12):
He's sitting in the living room watching your show. I'm
in the bedroom.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
So he does that you're calling in.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
But.

Speaker 8 (08:21):
It's a surprise, yep.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Okay, well all right, and his name is.

Speaker 8 (08:27):
What Shelley lol L O W E L L. We're
in California. He's retired from the water department. I still work.

Speaker 6 (08:40):
You know you're in the bedroom.

Speaker 8 (08:43):
He knows I'm in the bedroom.

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Yes, okay, what is he doing? Watch at your show?

Speaker 8 (08:51):
On his recliner, watching your show like he does every morning.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Okay, who turns him on? More?

Speaker 10 (08:58):
Me or you?

Speaker 1 (09:00):
What are you doing?

Speaker 6 (09:01):
What?

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Fair question? Shelley Grief, Oh no, don't put me.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
Up forget you alrighty?

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Everybody ready here? Hey, everybody doing in the recliner. Happy birthday.

Speaker 8 (09:27):
You guys are the best.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Thank you, Shelley, Thank you. You know I thought it
was an honest question. Looking for an honest answer from Noel. Well,
maybe I should ask Nol, not Shell Lowell Lowell. Then
we have to do it again. Happy birthday. No it's Lowell.

(09:51):
He's got three l's in his name. Curtis in Illinois, Hi, Curtis,
what's on your mind today?

Speaker 11 (10:01):
Born in DP foll'wing up on your guys' hightest conversation
last week?

Speaker 6 (10:06):
Real quick?

Speaker 11 (10:07):
I just want to say, if six foot isn't tall,
what is your cutoff for being short? And then also
just wanted to see if any of the Danettes had
aspirations to be the host of their own show or
if they just were content being a Danete because they
didn't want the stigma of a good Danette versus a
good dan kind of like the uh Eric the enemy,

(10:28):
you know, good coordinator not a good head coach.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
By the way, what happened to all of these people
who were Eric b Enemy fans? They wanted him to
get a job. Has anybody brought up Eric the Enemy
in two years? I mean, I would love to have
seen him get a chance, But oh my god, you
would have thought that he was Lombardi. They were like,
you got to give him a chance. Not every coordinator

(10:53):
should be a head coach. Now take that however you
want to, but it's just not every coordinator should be
a head coach. But what was the other? Oh, do
you guys have aspirations and don't can you live up
to the stigma of being on this show and then

(11:14):
going to start your own show? Todd, do you have
any interest in hosting your own show?

Speaker 5 (11:18):
I like to entertain family and friends and make people laugh.
I haven't given it a lot of fun to like
host my own show. Maybe I could dabble into a
pod thing. I've been talking to Dylan in the back.
We might have some fun with a podcast. But that's
the extent of it right now.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
Anyway, why don't you entertain people on this show?

Speaker 5 (11:33):
And Oh I walked into that one good night, walked
right into it.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
Yeah, are you waiting to do that?

Speaker 5 (11:39):
Like, don't wait, I was going to bring out my
personality like the Spring of twenty eight or something until then,
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
I was going to say, what do you mean you're
working on your own podcast? It kind of feels like
you have your own already.

Speaker 5 (11:49):
I guess I'm just kidding saying he talks too much.

Speaker 12 (11:55):
That's what he's saying. Say I talked.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
I was saying to talks too much on the show
now like talks. It's uh Todd talks. Yeah, we used
to do Todd Talks back in the day. Oh I know.
Oh my guys. Yeah, uh Seaton, Do you have any
aspirations to host your own show?

Speaker 3 (12:09):
Uh no, not like a sports talk show like this
on the radio.

Speaker 6 (12:13):
No.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
No, I'll still be in the media after this, but
I'm not gonna do sports talk Marvin.

Speaker 6 (12:20):
No.

Speaker 13 (12:20):
I'd rather I want to be Paulie, not Dan. I
want to produce sports radio. Maybe a sports podcast.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Good sports conversation Paulie.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
Yeah, uh, stuff like football related, you know, college and
pro football related. That'd be kind of attractive, especially college football.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
Yes, all right, so there's your answer, Curtis. They are
kind of dipping their toes into it.

Speaker 5 (12:44):
Do you mind if we start up getting out resume
during the segment? We should wait till have the show's over.
We know we kind of know what we want to
do next. It's a very dramatic pause just now.

Speaker 2 (12:59):
No, no, I thought there was something wrong.

Speaker 5 (13:01):
With the screen that I thought you got frozen for them?

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Was that line worth getting out? Definitely not a useless line?
Aaron in Pennsylvania High aeron What's on your mind today?

Speaker 14 (13:17):
Hey, Dan, I wanted to just bring up something on
behalf of some other callers and listeners. Rather, it seems
like Todd is getting in exceptional amount of airtime since
the beginning of the month, and I just wasn't sure
if it had anything to do with some HR policy

(13:38):
because October is anti bullying month, so I'd like to
speak to whoever is in charge of that.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
Well, I'm in charge, and it feels like every month
is anti bullying month when it comes to Todd. But
Seaton has pointed this out that Todd has gotten on
a lot of airtime that I could combine all the
other three dan Atz versus Todd, and Todd would have
more airtime.

Speaker 5 (14:04):
Yes, Todd which is fascinating because there have been many
times over the years where when I haven't opened my
mouth to like ten twenty seven, and you'll sit say, oh,
you're here today, the thanks for coming in, didn't I
didn't know you were part of the show today, which
I know. I'm just saying that I was accused of
that a lot more than talking too much, that I
was making quiet. So we got to kind of pick
a lane, like I'm supposed to pick the left, dry

(14:25):
in middle, somewhere in.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
The middle, somewhere in the middle. Yeah, okay, still sensitive
about the left lane, Still sensitive about Dave Simms broadcasting talents. Yes, Paul, Yeah,
I think moderation would be the word.

Speaker 4 (14:41):
I'd use moderation on both sides, like never tap out,
never dominate.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
Okay, but your good content, I will say that that
you are a treasure trove. When it comes to content.

Speaker 5 (14:53):
It's a tough it's a tough balance. You know, jump in,
don't jump in. You're talking too much. I'm not talking enough.
I don't think there's really a formula for that. The
work in progress.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
No, there's bad one. Like you work hard to drop
some bad lines.

Speaker 11 (15:07):
That's fair.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
So that's that's the problem.

Speaker 5 (15:09):
You find that one gold nugget out of a thousand.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Let's do that.

Speaker 6 (15:11):
Hold on to that one.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Yeah, tell me about it.

Speaker 9 (15:15):
I know.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
I think I'm the one that gots to find that
gold nugget.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
That to you in the studio.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
Alrighty Toddler, let's take a break here, Jimmy Rollins said
to join us. We'll talk some baseball. We're back after
this Dan Patrick Show.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 15 (15:37):
He's Mike Krmen, I'm Dan Bayern. We have a brand
new fantasy football podcast called I Want Your Flex. Twice
a week, every Tuesday and Friday, we come up with
new episodes to not only look back at what happened,
what you need to do at that minute, and also
look ahead of what's coming up in the fantasy football world.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
That's right, Dan.

Speaker 16 (15:57):
Every week we're gonna scour the waiver wire to find
the pickups you turbot boost your fantasy lineup six starts,
Fantasy football players rankings to get you ready to dominate
the competition.

Speaker 15 (16:08):
Listen to I Want your Flex with Mike Carmon and
met Dan Byer on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts and
wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
Age seven to seven three DP show more of your
phone calls coming up. Marvin sent me a note last
night when he realized Jimmy Rawlins was going to join us,
and he said, you know that Jimmy wore air Jordans.
Was he the first baseball player to wear air Jordans? Marvin,
I think it.

Speaker 13 (16:32):
I think it was Derek Jeer, but I think Jimmy
Reynalds was a part of the next wave like him
and C. C. Sabathian guys like that.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Well, let's ask Jimmy. The National League Divisional Series continues
on TBS Game three Brewers Cubs, that's a five Eastern
and then the Phillies at the Dodgers. Pregame coverage starts
at four point thirty with Jimmy Pedro, Curtis Granderson and
the host Adam Lefco Jimmy, good to have you back on.
Was Jeter the first to wear the air Jordan?

Speaker 6 (17:00):
That is correct.

Speaker 17 (17:01):
Gita was the first, and I think it was followed
by Andrew and they had a domination on brand Jordan,
no one else can really get in. And then they
finally opened up the floodgates and let myself in.

Speaker 6 (17:14):
CC.

Speaker 17 (17:14):
I think we both came in around eight oh nine,
around that time, and then now it is a brand
in baseball.

Speaker 6 (17:22):
And it was a fun run to be with those guys.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
What was it like first time you met Jordan?

Speaker 17 (17:30):
You know they say when you meet someone and you're
in ahe and you know, I've met a number of people,
you don't really get that. It happened a couple of times.
The first time I met jay Z, the first time
you met Mike. But Mike breaks through that ice, like
you know, he's Michael, and it's like do I say something?

Speaker 6 (17:48):
You know, we talked trashy or all the stories.

Speaker 17 (17:50):
So first time I ran in to him, I just
went up to him, like, Mike, you know what's happened.
I didn't get the I didn't get my contract this year.
He looked at me, It's like, oh, you didn't get
the memo. All right, bet we'll make it happen. Two
years later, I went in to him again, like Mike,
I still don't have my cleats. Next year I was
in him.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Al Alan Iverson said, when he was around Jordan, Jordan
has a glow about him.

Speaker 17 (18:14):
Yes, I agree, And then it's it's hard to explain
because do you physically see it. No, but there is
an aura and energy about him, and it's almost like
if you get too close, you step into his energy.
So you let there be that personal space. But you know,
but when the more you hang around him, you see him,
you understand he's just a guy.

Speaker 6 (18:36):
He loves that fun.

Speaker 17 (18:37):
He sears about his business and obviously we know how
serious he is about his golf.

Speaker 6 (18:41):
But when you're in his presence, be ready to talk trash,
be ready to.

Speaker 17 (18:45):
Be able to give it back because he like, he
likes that jabberin back and forth. And it's almost like
he's still in uniform, but his uniform has just changed.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
Who is the Jordan in baseball or who.

Speaker 6 (18:56):
Was the Jordan?

Speaker 17 (18:58):
I mean we can say who is I mean, that's
showy show Hay is the Jordan and baseball.

Speaker 6 (19:03):
As we saw last year.

Speaker 17 (19:05):
You know, when he wasn't pitching, he said, okay, I
can let me go out and do a fifty to
fifty campaign and he went out.

Speaker 6 (19:10):
And did that. Prior to that, he's winning the MVPs.

Speaker 17 (19:13):
He's a cy young candidate if you really want to
put him, you know, on the mound all the time.
It's almost he can be whoever he wants when he wants,
And we saw that with Mike when he was playing.
When it was time to turn up the defense, he
would lock you down. But you know, he was still
going out there scoring twenty eight, twenty nine, averaging and plus.
So when it comes to winning show, Hay has a

(19:35):
lot more to do, but he's definitely on the right track.
He has a team and he's going to be the
guy that leads that team. Mike led the Bulls. He
did it for three straight seasons, took some years off
and go play minor league baseball, came back and won
three more.

Speaker 6 (19:48):
That's the impact that show he has.

Speaker 17 (19:50):
He sells jerseys, he moves, he moves ticket prices, season
holder season ticket holders will for sure repurchase.

Speaker 6 (19:59):
Those tickets as long he's on that team.

Speaker 17 (20:01):
And just what he's done for the game expanded it
globally the way Mike did for basketball.

Speaker 6 (20:05):
It's crazy to see.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
Did you make fun of Michael's baseball ability him?

Speaker 17 (20:12):
You know what I did not, because I understand how difficult.
It was, and it was admirable that he went back
to try to go do something that he loved as
a child. Now, did he have the best wing, No,
But I don't think it was about that for Mike.
Did he have the best defense?

Speaker 6 (20:27):
No, I don't think it was about that for Mike.

Speaker 17 (20:28):
I think it was about attempting something that he had
put aside, for something that he was successful in, to
prove that he could also do it, not just on
the basketball court, but on a baseball field.

Speaker 6 (20:38):
Now did it happen? No?

Speaker 17 (20:40):
Was it great for the kids? I got to play
with them, I think, so they got to hang with
the legend. They got to get on the customized bus
because you know those bus rides in between minor league cities.

Speaker 6 (20:48):
Know they can be something. But being able to step away,
and I.

Speaker 17 (20:52):
Think he had to prove something to himself that he
can put He can do anything that he put his
mind to, even if it's not the level.

Speaker 6 (20:59):
That he won to achieve.

Speaker 17 (21:01):
Going out there, putting yourself out there, being vulnerable is
something that if you're someone that wants to try something,
He's a great example.

Speaker 6 (21:10):
You don't have to be the best. If you try
anything can happen.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
He's Jimmy Rollins, he's working with TBS covering the Nlds.
He's got Brewers Cubs, and then there'll be the Phillies
at the Dodgers. Everybody throws a hundred now right, nobody's
worried about striking out. Like you played in an era
where that walk of shame back to the dugout, it hurt.

(21:34):
But these guys, you know, it's like, hey, I got
my cuts, man, so what if I struck out?

Speaker 17 (21:39):
You know, my rookie year, I want to say I
strike out one hundred and like ten or fifteen times.
When I got the spring tran in the next year,
John Vukevich came up to me, is like, we got
to work on this. There's no way in the world
you with your skills should strike out one hundred times. Ever,
and that became my mission to not strike out one

(22:00):
hundred times because it was embarrassing. Like you said, that
walk with shame, it was. We understand striking out as
part of the game, but as the leadoff hitter, my
job is to put the ball in play, make something happen,
use my speed, as they would like to say, and
that's something I can argue against. But in today's game,
they want you to get your a swing off twelve
to fifteen times the game. And they figured, you know,

(22:22):
with the analytics, that if you're getting your aight swing
off and you're doing this twelve to fifteen times a game,
that's going to correlate to thirty to forty home runs
with runners on how many more runs are you driving
in et cetera. But it's almost like they don't account
for how many bets.

Speaker 6 (22:39):
You don't hit a home run. If you hit fifty
home runs.

Speaker 17 (22:41):
Show Hay's done, you hit sixty barriers, hit seventy three,
there are still three hundred four hundred at best that
you're not hitting the home run. And if those three
hundred four unit of bets you don't hit a home
run you strike out.

Speaker 6 (22:51):
One hundred and fifty of them. That's not good. That's
not productive at all.

Speaker 17 (22:56):
But that's the way the game has come to be,
at least in the regular season, because we're seeing in
the postseason that strategy doesn't work.

Speaker 6 (23:04):
You have to apply pressure.

Speaker 17 (23:05):
You have to consistently get guys on base, get the
pitcher in the stretch for numbers, for getting contracts. This
is how they're going to evaluate. But to win a championship,
you have to have other parts of the game. And
when you get to the playoffs, you're not all of
a sudden going to change who you are.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
Why are the Phillies in trouble.

Speaker 17 (23:24):
They're not hitting. They're simply not hitting. I think their
pitching has been good. They're team that definitely relies on
big swings, big moments. Schwarber had a great season chasing
Ryan Howards on one record Harper, big swing Harper, Trey Turner,
who unfortunately got injured at the end, so he's kind

(23:45):
of out of rhythm. But they're guys that relied literally
on the big swing, and they can't play a different.

Speaker 6 (23:51):
Sele of baseball.

Speaker 17 (23:52):
We've seen it at times, but their game is built
around that three run home run. And when you're facing
pitching like the Dodgers have, that's not going to happen
too often. Yes, you're going to face guys and they're
going to have an off day, but in the playoffs
you assume that everybody's going to be sharp, and Dodger
pitching has been sharp, especially the starters. I mean two
games and we're getting into the fifth and sixth and

(24:13):
and before we even get a runner on base.

Speaker 6 (24:15):
That's pretty tough to win ball games.

Speaker 2 (24:18):
Take me into that home runed bat by Aaron Judge
last night, because man seemed like they did exactly what
they wanted to do, and that pitch is a pitch
where you want to put it. I think I was a.

Speaker 17 (24:32):
Crazed Yeah, it was a two strike pitch that almost
hit him in a chest, you know, and for him
to keep that ball fair. There are a few guys
that I've played against that can do that. There are
power hitters. One was bare, the other with Chef. You
can never bring the ball in far enough because they
know how to bring their hands inside the ball and
they're strong enough that if they get the barrel to it, obviously.

Speaker 6 (24:54):
It is going to go a long ways. But thinking
about it and last night and watching it, I.

Speaker 17 (24:59):
Was over Pedro's house, We're on the lake hanging out
and came back to watch the rest of the game.

Speaker 6 (25:05):
I was glad to see him have this moment.

Speaker 17 (25:06):
We know the struggles that he's had not getting that
big home run in the big moments, but you know,
they had him where he wanted to. You threw a
fastball for strike two up out over the plate. You
see a swing underneath it, and you're saying, yes, this
is what we want.

Speaker 6 (25:22):
He's swinging underneath the ball elevated.

Speaker 17 (25:25):
But I think with pictures, and I'm not on the mountain,
but just looking at it, what is a high fastball
to Aaron Judge? It's different to someone else. You throw
a chest high to me. Throw a chest high to
Curtis Grandison or a guy even six' three's that that's
a good. Pitch but The Aaron judge at six seven
that ends up belt. High so as a, picture how

(25:48):
do you say to, YOURSELF i have to throw it
basically head high to, him which would if you, know
if the catcher doesn't get, it it's a pass ball
off the.

Speaker 6 (25:55):
Net it's a different.

Speaker 17 (25:57):
Thing but to see him have that, moment knowing that
he hasn't had that moment to keep it, FAIR i
think he can finally take that deep. Breath and he
saw off the home running games in the camera and
he gave it a double look like is this what
you were asking? For he answered that. Bell so it
was a great moment for him and, hopefully you, know
he can get those demons out the.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
Way, okay let me go back to you were At
Pedro martinez's. House you, said yes last, Night, yes, yes.
Okay is it like of all the baller houses you've been, In,
like what's the what's the most baller house that you've
ever been?

Speaker 17 (26:31):
In, wow the most baller House i've ever been. IN i,
WOULD i, WOULD i, WOULD i would honestly have to
give it To Ryan howard his house that he had
down in The Indian rocks, area that was on a,
beach bowling, alley a, pool a, lagoon a lazy. River
it WAS i think the main house was, shoot the

(26:54):
main house may have been twenty thousand square, feet and
again house was eight, thousand and it was a. Hallway
it was just everything you can imagine it was in that.

Speaker 6 (27:06):
House and it was on the beach like it.

Speaker 17 (27:08):
Was on you stepped, out you see turtles, Nesting you
had the speed boats coming by DOING tmz down In Clearwater.
Beach that was that was probably the. Craziest and you
walk in And ryan's a big, guy so everything he
had was.

Speaker 6 (27:23):
Big and you walk in and.

Speaker 17 (27:24):
His thirty foot high symlins And i'm only five, seven
SO i felt like a really small.

Speaker 6 (27:30):
Person walking in that.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
HOUSE i bring this up a lot with my guys
that there's certain sounds in. Sports you, know it could
be the ball going in a cup if you're playing,
golf or the you, know the net When Steph curry
hits it up shut when the ball Leaves otani's, bat
it sounds different than anybody. Else and as a, guy

(27:55):
you know who's out there at. Shortstop you're not very
far from the, picture and the picture knows there's certain
sounds like, DAMN i just gave up a home. Run
can you? Remember like who had that? Sound where you
go that's? Gone.

Speaker 17 (28:08):
Uh there are a few. GUYS i played with One Ryan,
HOWARD i played against One Barry Chef, chipper and it's
it's it's it's.

Speaker 6 (28:22):
Hard it's hard to explain and describe the. Sound but
when you hear, it you know it's. Loud it's an.

Speaker 17 (28:28):
Explosion you can hear the back compressing the core center
of the. Ball and people used to laugh at, me
especially my Teammates.

Speaker 6 (28:36):
Ryan i'm an.

Speaker 17 (28:38):
Infielder there's a velocity and a trajectory that the ball
goes over my head that there's no doubt that it's.
Gone i'm watching the. HITTER i want to see what they're.
Doing and then right before the ball you know it's
caught or goes into the, STANDS i kind of give
it a. Look but there are a couple of times
THAT i have to take the. EXCEPTIONS i want to
watch the whole flight of the. Ball and one was
When barry hit the ball off the McDonald's sign uh

(29:02):
in right center field And John lieber's. Pitching so before the,
Game libra comes in is, Like, hey If barry gets
up and nobody, On i'm going to get it over.
With and so we're all, like what are you talking.
About he's, Like i'm not going to waste any pitches On.
Barry every TIME i faced, him he hits the home.
Run so if there's nobody, On i'm throwing a fastball
right down the.

Speaker 6 (29:19):
Middle get it over.

Speaker 17 (29:20):
With and so we all kind of look at each
other like there's no way THERE'S i hear, you but
there's no way you're gonna do.

Speaker 6 (29:26):
That no one's.

Speaker 17 (29:27):
Whatever, John so get the first batter, out get the
second batter, out and so we ALL i look At,
CHASE i look At, RYAN i forget who was that?
Third and me Being pedro, no maybe pedro fleez or
plots the plank and we all kind of look at
each other, like if this is really gonna.

Speaker 6 (29:41):
Happen we shift.

Speaker 17 (29:43):
Over first pitch down AND i just turned over my
head and it hit the McDonald's. Sign that was the
only thing that kept it from leaving the entire. Ballpark
and don't get me, wrong it was. AMAZING i was
surprised that he actually did. IT i looked at each
other like this dude got some big. Honus he, Said

(30:04):
i'm gonna throw him a, fastball get it over, with
and he, did And barry did what.

Speaker 6 (30:07):
He's supposed to.

Speaker 17 (30:08):
Do so there are a couple of guys that made that,
sound but that one in particular that was that.

Speaker 6 (30:13):
Was one of the most amazing.

Speaker 17 (30:14):
Things That john lived up to his word And barry
hit it off McDonald's.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
EYE i was always amazed With bonds that he might
get one pitch per it, Bat mike get one pitch per,
bat but he could make you pay with that and
his strike. Zone so he never went out of this
like he knew that he had like a red, box
maybe a. Microwave it wasn't very large, there but if

(30:38):
you're in, There i'm Gonna i'm gonna make you. Pay
And i'd still marvel at that ability to be patient
and not, go you, know fishing and pressing for. This you,
know judge who's doing this. Now he's really got that
strike zone. Compact and that's when you see these guys
go from good to great to great The hall Of.
Famer But bonds would no. Doubt it's maybe.

Speaker 6 (31:01):
No doubt about.

Speaker 17 (31:02):
It and as you said, that that was the amazing
thing that he wasn't striking.

Speaker 6 (31:06):
Out he was patient enough to take the.

Speaker 17 (31:08):
Walk the times that they would pitch to, him and
the number of times that he wouldn't even get a
chance to. Swing nobody on tie Game barry comes up intentional.
Walk he wasn't even getting a chance to swing the.
Bat so the times that he, did the proficiency.

Speaker 6 (31:22):
Of what he, did it was.

Speaker 17 (31:23):
Crazy even the year he had seventy, THREE i think
he had one hundred and thirty intentional. Walks there's no
doubt in my mind he has one hundred home. Runs
it's that. Crazy AND i mean it is if they
pitched to him the way they pitch these guys, now
and it's almost like analytics, say we know how to
get you out. Analytics THEN i think they would have

(31:44):
had to, say we understand, that but the human element,
says this pitch is not going to execute that. Pitch
and if we, don't that robot in a box he's
going to make sure it's one, nothing two, nothing three,
nothing or a grand.

Speaker 6 (31:55):
Slam and that's how Crazy Barry bonds.

Speaker 17 (31:57):
Is and he you, know everybody, compares you know who's,
ago and they want to look At judge's, numbers lick
at Show hayes, numbers and then when you put.

Speaker 6 (32:04):
Them next To, barry's it's a different.

Speaker 17 (32:07):
Story and it's and AND i know kids didn't grow
up Watching.

Speaker 6 (32:11):
Bear they're watching these guys.

Speaker 17 (32:12):
Now but for us that we're fortunate enough to play
with against and Watch, barry it was it was.

Speaker 6 (32:18):
Unworldly but even.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
With the performance enhancing, drugs he's still if we leveled
the playing, Field jimmy AND i, said everybody can use
whatever they want to. Use he, would he would, Have
and you got a pitch to. Him it's Like Lance
armstrong in The tour De. France it felt like everybody
else was. Cheating in The tour De. Franz he was
just that much better than everybody and. Bonds you, know

(32:42):
you can put an asterisk by, it but you still
he still had to hit that ball and he got
that one, PITCH i mean still. Made he would have
hit one hundred home, runs but he one year he
was he got walked over two hundred and thirty.

Speaker 6 (32:56):
TIMES i can't imagine. That it's amazing AND i can't.
Imagine you think it's guys striking out twenty thirty. Times
now it was going to walk thirty.

Speaker 2 (33:06):
TIMES i, KNOW i, Know, hey great job so far
during the. Postseason hope you're enjoying it and we appreciate your.

Speaker 6 (33:13):
Time Jimmy, NO i appreciate A. Dp thank, you.

Speaker 2 (33:17):

Want and these, guys you, know you play one hundred

(33:39):
and sixty two games and there's so much opportunity for.
Stories but that sound that. Sound that sound never. Leaves
and if you're a, PITCHER i can still remember a
PITCH i. THREW i was playing in this it was
A Twilight, league but it was a semi pro league And,

(34:00):
cincinnati AND i remember facing a guy and he hit
a ball right over my, head right over the, mound
AND i can still hear, it LIKE i still have,
That like, damn this guy could have taken my head
off he. HIT i, Thought i'm gonna throw a fast
ball by this. Guy he played in the minor. Leagues,
man he hit a ball right over my head and

(34:20):
it was one of those WHERE i don't know how
close it was to hitting, me but it certainly sounded
like it was close enough to hitting. Me All, Right
