Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Final Hour on this Monday, some great calls, best and
worst of the weekend. Had fun with coach Kauer and
he said that he wouldn't be upset with his defense
because he said there were some pivotal plays there that
could have gone Pittsburgh's way. And I thought that maybe
if he was still the head coach, he might be
a little upset with his defense that hasn't been formidable
(00:25):
like we've expected with Pittsburgh. We saw the Dallas Cowboys,
PAULI came up with a great idea to trade for
Miles Garrett.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
Now they did I ate.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
From what I'm told and what's been reported, they reached
out to the Raiders for Max Crosby and the Bengals
for Trey Hendrickson. It makes sense, but Jerry Jones finally
got around to saying, you know what, maybe my defense
isn't that good. If you don't have a pass rusher,
those defensive backs even more exposed, and they have not
been good at all. Offense has been really good, except
(00:57):
for yesterday when they went up against a real good
Broncos defense. The Broncos lead the NFL with thirty six sacks.
They've allowed a league low eight sacks, so they're the
first team in NFL history with those numbers through the
first eight games of a season.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
In the history of.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
The NFL at least thirty five sacks and ten or
fewer sacks allowed.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Whooo, how stead of a day, stall of a day,
statuta day, scant outa day?
Speaker 3 (01:30):
This is the stant of.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
The Day, brought to you by panadi America, the official
trading cards of the program. Good morning. If you're watching
on Peacock. That's our streaming partner and our radio affiliates
around the country. Operator Tyler sitting by. He'll take your
phone calls eight seven to seven three DP show. But
if I said the following, which team do you believe in?
(01:54):
More Denver or the Colts? Oh, Colts got the best
record in football, incredible stats, great offense, they get thirty
points a game, Danny Dimes playing well, Jonathan Taylor at
an MVP level. Or the Broncos, who were a playoff
(02:18):
team last year with bow Nicks. They got weapons, they
got a really good defense, you got a future Hall
of Fame coach and Sean Payton. So who do you
believe in More. I would say Denver because I saw
it last year, but the Colts have been impressive.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
Now.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
They did beat Denver and that was on the leverage
call that went against Denver. They had the Chargers when
the Chargers, although they beat him in LA, but the
Chargers were banged up. But still, you know when people
come up with excuses, I'm like, you got to win
the game. I don't care who's playing and not playing.
Like the Bears playing against the Ravens beat him. That
(03:01):
defense gives up thirty points every single game. You got
a backup quarterback and you guys have been playing well
and then you guys get shut down. Those are the
games you just have to win. Them might not be pretty. Hey,
they didn't have Lamar Jackson. Who cares. When's the last
time somebody said, hey, I won all these golf tournaments,
(03:23):
but Tiger didn't play in all but two of them.
Like nobody tells you, hey, I won. How many PGA
tour wins do you have? I'd like to know how
many wins guys got when Tiger wasn't in the field
or Jack Nicholas wasn't in the field.
Speaker 3 (03:41):
But we don't do that. You just got to win.
You play.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
If that guy didn't play or those guys didn't play,
I don't care. Just win, and that's what you have.
With the NFL degree of difficulty, you get nothing out
of that. Hey, you beat the Bengals, they didn't have
Joe Burrow. You're the Jets. It doesn't matter. You want
a gain. That's all you're asking for. Win a game,
(04:06):
and the Ravens are going to be in the mix.
They are now. This game on Thursday against Miami is
really interesting from this perspective. If you're the Ravens, can
you hold Lamar Jackson out one more game and give
him even you know, two weeks to get healthy. Or
but the Dolphins looked impressive. Could they get back to
(04:31):
back wins here? Maybe you're saving Mike McDaniel's job, and
that's what happens. I think LSU might have been concerned.
If they keep Brian Kelly on for the Alabama game
and he wins the Alabama game, can you fire him
after that? There's a lot of suggestions here on who
(04:53):
LSU might go after, including James Franklin. Lane Kiffin is
high on that list. Joe brad who was the quarterbacks
coach when they had Joe Burrow there. He's now in Buffalo.
He might get a head coaching job in the NFL.
Eli Drinkwitz at Missouri, Jeff Brahm at Louisville. So you
(05:14):
got some guys. Now, I don't know John Sumraw. Where
does John sumrall coach? Because right now he is the
favorite Tulane Oh okay, Andy Staples talked about that. Okay,
the oddsmakers say LSU will stay in state to hire
(05:35):
Tulane's John Sumraw.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
Now this is just odds makers.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Joe Brady, the OC from their last magical run, is
a close second. Okay, you can get to Lane's John Sumraw.
Joe Brady would be interesting. I don't think Joe has
ever been a head coach anywhere. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
Point The Joe Brady thing is awkward though, because I
can't imagine him leaving Buffalo during the season, So you'd
have to wait till February for Joe Brady and the Bills. Yeah,
that's an awkward one.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Yeah. Yeah. So those are the odds as of today.
Replacing Brian Kelly. Brian Kelly was asked about his future
after the loss to Texas A and M on Saturday.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
What level look concern do you have for yourself with
the faith of program should have for you.
Speaker 5 (06:26):
That's out of my hands on you know, it's impossible
for the head coach that's been here, you know for
four years and thirty five years of doing this.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
To think anything else.
Speaker 5 (06:40):
But this is my responsibility and we've got to get
it turned around.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
He won't get that opportunity. He went twenty three and
three at home at LSU twenty three and three. The
three losses were by twenty four or more points. That's
where you get fired. That's how you get fired. You
get embarrassed at home against Texas A and M who
(07:09):
hadn't beaten you in a long, long, long time. And
that's why he's out. But you know, when you start
to think about what's going on in college football, so
there's more money, there's less caution, and the days of
long rebuilds and second chances are fading fast. You know,
you go back to nil. It didn't just change recruiting,
(07:30):
It changed the powers structure of the sport. And if
you know the early signs or any indication, you know,
the coaching carousel, the football carousel is picking up speed
and is not slowing down. All right, We'll get to
best and worst of the weekend. What you saw that
you liked, you didn't like. How about worse loss of
(07:52):
the weekend. I'm going to put the Bengals there because
you're at home. It's been a good story with Joe Flacco,
You're playing the Jets, and all you got to do
is be a five hundred team. Hold on for dear life.
Maybe Joe Burrow comes back and you can squeak into
the playoffs. The Bears, maybe they are who we think
(08:13):
they are. Maybe they're just a middling team right now.
Steelers at home against green Bay. You can get away
with those losses with a bad division, but at some
point you're gonna have to win these games or a
game like this. The Packers are a really good team,
(08:34):
and Jordan Love played really well, but you're the Steelers
at home, and it wasn't a home field advantage because
Aaron Rodgers said they had to go on a silent
count because there were so many green Bay fans there.
But I would say the Bengals best win of the weekend,
I'd say the Jets. Would you say anybody else comes
(08:56):
close to the Jets? Doing what they did on the road.
Given what happened this, Yeah, Paulie, I.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
Would only go college football. Vanderbilt holding serve you get
national TV attention. It was it could have been an
easy one to give up and lose and you're off
the radar quickly. But I know it's college.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
It wasn't impressive. Now now Missouri's good they had, but
I mean it was just not a great game. Anybody
else that would compete for best win of the weekend. Yeah, Paulie.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
The Texas comeback in overtime because Texas looked like they
were in trouble Againstssissippi State. And that's another one where
that goes bad. You're now five and three. Yeah, they
would have been you talk about heat.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
And then there was a report that Steve Sarksian's people
are reaching out checking on NFL jobs. That might be
just doing your due diligence. Now I don't have any
information on this. I don't know sark We've had him
on a couple of times. But that's where your agent
could be checking on things, or maybe somebody's checking in
with your agent on something. Yeah, yeah, I'd want to.
Speaker 6 (10:00):
Know why are you diligent ing? Why are you doing.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
That's what agents do. Yeah, yeah, to do it more
quietly than that. Diana Russini had the report that Sark
was Sarks people.
Speaker 6 (10:16):
Why is there any diligence happening right now?
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Yeah, nobody said it was due. Yeah, your diligence isn't due.
My question would be, well, if you can't figure it
out at Texas with all those resources, why am I
going to bring you into Carolina or Miami. I'm not
doing that. I mean, Sark's never done anything where I go.
(10:40):
You gotta have him. I think there's always the potential
and he's, you know, offensive minded head coach. But you
got a lot of resources there Texas. But if I'm
an NFL owner, I'm not going I gotta have him.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
Why Yes, do you think more of these college coaches
are going to lean towards the NFL because it's a
simpler lifestyle as a coach.
Speaker 2 (11:04):
Uh yeah, I mean I think it is a simpler way.
You just have to coach. I mean, you still have
to run your team and be a CEO. But college football,
it is tough. College football. I don't not to worry about,
you know, money, I've got boosters, but I gotta.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
Deal with teenagers.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
I have a hard time as a parent dealing with teenagers,
let alone being a head coach.
Speaker 7 (11:30):
Yes, yeah, imagine if you were like Nick Saban or
Urban Meyer, You're going to the playoffs every year. You
win the national title, the next day, your call of recruits,
you're back on the road.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
The night the night after. We've seen that before.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
These coaches will win a national title and sab It
will be on the phone with the recruit.
Speaker 7 (11:46):
And they're behind the eight ball because they've been playing
instead of recruiting like the other schools. Yes, they've been
in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Yes, Paul.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
If this were college football, John Harball would have been
fired last week, starting one in five, because that's what
happens this year with college football. But it doesn't make
sense because it's the pros and their patient.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
NBA on NBC and Peacock. It's the Coast to Coast
Tuesday primetime debut the Nickson Bucks and then Clippers and
the Warriors. Check your local listings or you can stream
both games on Peacock. Nothing really stood out, jumped down
any further news out of the investigation with the poker game.
(12:27):
You also had the gambling on games and prop bets.
But the NFL, it washes everything away. It's the great
car wash. Just just get into the weekend and the
NFL the great car wash, and all of a sudden
that car comes out and looks okay, all right, Hey,
Wembley's playing great, Shay Gilgers playing great Austin Reeves at
(12:49):
fifty one. Luke is going to be out. I guess
for least a week, maybe two weeks. But yeah, thank
thank goodness for the NFL, with all these sports. That's
why you get that news dump on a Friday. And
if you can get to a Friday at five o'clock
and all of a sudden put something out, you go
into the weekend, that story's gone by Monday, or at
(13:11):
least that's the hope.
Speaker 7 (13:11):
Yes, Marvin, NBAPR, Brian Kelly got fired, Yes, all.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
Right, Paul and Iowa Paul. Best and worst of the weekend?
Speaker 8 (13:22):
Hey, Dan, you know I was thinking that between last
night and the Packers Acme Brown Aaron Rodgers might have
worn the worst too throwbacks in NFL history. But my
best of the weekend, big best two home wins over
the weekend for the Des Moines Buccaneers. Future NHL Stars
overtime win on Saturday over the US Developmental team and
(13:46):
Dan as the game host for the Buccaneers. I would
love to invite you when you make your trip through
Iowa to a hockey game, come see some future pros
as amateurs. We can get the dan nets on the
ice for some intermission fun. Sounds like a good time.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Well, thank you, Paul. I'll do the programming around here, yes, Pauline.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
When I think pirate activity, I think a des Moines, Iowa,
the Buccaneers, the logo, the big pirate pirate activity.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Yeah, thank you, Paul. Larry and Michigan, Hi Larry.
Speaker 9 (14:17):
Hey Dan.
Speaker 10 (14:17):
I'm calling because I'm getting a little frustrated with the
way these college coaches buy outs are being reported. So
you see fifty million for Brian Kelly, fifty three million
for James Franklin. But the reality is almost all these
contracts have these duty to mitigate clauses where they have
to go look for another job, and if they get one,
(14:39):
then LSU and Penn State are not going to have
to pay them all that money. So it's like every
national head reports it as that how could you pay
this guy this much money? Not to coach. There's so
many jobs open, they're almost definitely not going to pay
him that because Brian Kelly and James Franklin are going
to get other major jobs that are going to offset
whatever LSU and Penn State hold.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
But it doesn't mean you have to take the job.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
You just have to look for a job.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
True.
Speaker 10 (15:08):
But again, like I think it's pretty likely that both
of those guys are going to get other major jobs
if they want them.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Yeah, Jimbo Fisher's not working.
Speaker 11 (15:19):
Well.
Speaker 10 (15:19):
He didn't have a duty to do mitigate clause though.
That's the whole thing. So and the lsuad who gave
Jimbo that contract probably realized that he should have given
him a duty to mitigate clause in the contract because
he did it with Brian Kelly.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
Yeah, I was going to say, this athletic director has
given out Jimbo Fisher's contract in Brian Kelly's contract. Yeah,
thank you for that, Larry. But you can look for
a job. But that it's like if you go to
a bar and you're single and you might be looking
to date somebody.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
You don't have to you're just looking. That's all.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
They were never looking for me. That was the problem.
I was looking for them, but they never looked for me.
Be like, uh, you know when you have like a
fresh ZiT and it's like right there on the end
of your nose and you're trying to walk up and
you put clear a seal on the skin, colored clearer seal,
and you're walking up, you're going hi, and you notice
(16:19):
they're fixating on, you know, your nose and the pimple
that's there, And I knew I was just dead on arrival.
Dead on arrival.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
Yeah, Paul, It's like high school when you're a junior
and your parents say, go out and find a job,
and you kind of go around and you fill out
applications and you go home and you hope they don't call,
like the dairy queen or the lifeguard place.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
Yeah, Hey, did you go apply at the golf course?
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Yes, I guess I went there. Did anybody call? No?
All right, We'll take a break. More phone calls coming up.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
Away Cam Scoutaboo injury. I was a bummer bummer for
everybody there. It was a good story, but you know,
the giants were trying to hang in there. And I
don't know what happens to the body when you have
an injury like that, because Scoutaboo knew that he had
maybe broken his ankle or just located it and it
would be painful. But it's almost as if like he
(17:54):
stopped and he just was pointing at hey, something's up
with my ankle there. And I don't know if just
their shock or something happens where the body protects you
in some way. But man, you knew right away. You
know there's certain injuries. And then when the network isn't
showing you replays of it, which is good, I get it,
(18:18):
but understanding you know the severity of that, you didn't
have to go. I think it might be it felt
like you knew right away. But that's a serious ankle injury,
dislocated I think having surgery today in Philadelphia, and you
know you lose Malik Neighbors. So the Giants have something
there like this is a story that could play out
(18:41):
where maybe Brian Dable keeps his job. Maybe scout Aboo
is going to be one of those man. He's going
to be Marshawn Lynch two point zero, Milik Neighbors, who
I think can be a great wide receiver. Defense has
some players. It's about finding your quarterback. If they found
(19:03):
their quarterback in Jackson Dart, now you can really begin
the process of we can compete in the NFC East.
Maybe next year.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
Yeah, Pauling Scatibu was having a nice season. He was
on pace for nine hundred yards rushing and fifty five catches.
Speaker 13 (19:18):
You as a.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
Rookie and getting hurt going out for a pass. By
the way, the Ravens were all over the place with
Lamar Jackson's injury designation, so he was listed as a
full participant in practice, but Pauli did some research on this,
and full participant is taking all the reps. First team
reps is full participant. Lamar Jackson was participantating in practice,
(19:44):
but he wasn't taking the first team reps. That's the difference.
So the betting line was swinging wildly. The Ravens were
favored by six and a half. It went down to
two two and a half. They said, it's an honest mistake.
Now maybe it's you know, people on the staff in
pr their job is to keep an eye on this.
(20:09):
I didn't think that it was let's get a competitive
advantage on the Bears, where we're not going to let
them know if if a snoop Huntley is going to
be playing instead of Lamar Jackson. But this comes back
to gambling. So in the same week you have this
investigation into the NBA and they're looking at exploiting injury information.
(20:31):
Lebron James he's not going to play, or if Chauncey
Phillips told somebody, hey, I'm going to sit in my
first three starters or four starters, and you know, bet accordingly,
it's all about gambling and I just think that mistake, Mike,
an honest mistake, might cost the Ravens some draft picks.
(20:54):
That's how serious this is. Brad in Connecticut, Hi, Brad,
what's on your mind?
Speaker 14 (21:03):
Good morning, Dan, Best and Worston. A quick comment about
the Steelers. So best of the weekend was the Springsteen movie.
I missed you, Fritzy. I was looking for you worst
laws was waiting forty five minutes for the damn movie
to start. Too many ads. The comments last week about
Baltimore possibly winning the division I think are right. The
(21:25):
Steelers I think are going to lose six or seven
of their next games because they got Indie, San Diego, Cincy, Buffalo, Detroit,
and they still got Baltimore twice. So I think they're
in huge trouble. And quick stat with them, I believe
over the last two games they the team in the
second half scored on every possession on both those games.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
Not good, thank you, Brad. Fritzy doesn't have to go
see the Springsteen movie because the Broncos beat the Cowboys.
Speaker 15 (21:53):
That's correct.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Then I didn't read good reviews on the Springsteen movie.
Good not? I think Wall Street Journal, New York Times
not good. Yes, Ton.
Speaker 15 (22:05):
Usually you see something like great, fantastic, I must see
and now was just.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
All right, there was all right.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
I don't know if they even would have said that, but.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
I'd be surprised that you read Like used to be,
you could read a really negative review. Now it feels
like to get access to all of these different celebrities
and actors and directors and everybody kind of plays nice.
But man, there was one. It might have been Wall
Street Journal. One of them just took a blow towards
(22:39):
to it.
Speaker 4 (22:41):
Yes, Paulie, I'm on Rotten Tomatoes right now, which conglomerates
all the reviews, and it's about fifty positive. If you
look at some of the other biopics of the day
that were well reviewed, A Complete Unknown got really good reviews,
the Elvis movie Straight out of Compton got great reviews,
and Walk the Line of Course Johnny Cash got great reviews.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
The Dylan biopic with Timothy Chalomeg is great because he's great,
and the woman playing Joan Bias is great as well.
The way it's shot is great. The problem is is
Bob Dylan is boring. You don't really find out anything
about Bob Dylan. You're like, Okay, and then you scribbled
(23:24):
down that song. I don't know anything more about Bob
Dylan after watching that than I did prior to that,
and I think I know a little bit about Dylan.
Speaker 16 (23:34):
Yeah, it was a little tough for me too. Gotta
admit to watch people talk about folk.
Speaker 2 (23:42):
Music so seriously.
Speaker 16 (23:43):
Yeah, it's a little tough to be, like, you know,
the purity of folk un isn't folk music?
Speaker 6 (23:48):
Come on, like, oh my.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
Gosh, wait, you're gonna have an electric guitar. Yeah.
Speaker 16 (23:53):
I appreciate Pete Seeger as much as anybody.
Speaker 6 (23:56):
I love Pete Seeger.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
Great. Great.
Speaker 16 (23:59):
It's a little tough though, Like, come on, guys, we
got to stay.
Speaker 3 (24:02):
True to the guard form.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
Peter, Paul and Mary. They're bigger than the bands. You
can't plug it. Oh my god.
Speaker 16 (24:12):
This is one of those things that you have to
be like trust When I watched it with my son,
I was like, trust me.
Speaker 6 (24:17):
It was a really big deal at the time.
Speaker 16 (24:18):
It's hard to imagine now, but it was like, holy crap,
this guy's like, it's a big deal.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
You just gotta trust me. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
Yes, But I have a theory.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
These biopiic movies are not for people who know a
lot about the topic, like you with Bob Dylan or
Bruce Springsteen, cause you're like, this isn't that real. It's
almost like kin the Moneyball, You're like, this isn't exactly
the story of the A's. You know, if you watch
Walk the Line and you don't know much about the
history of Johnny Cash, then it's cool and you're not like, oh,
this poking holes in it.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
Yeah, maybe, you know. I was a big fan of
Queen growing up. In the Freddie Mercury biopic, I thought
it was good, but it didn't You're right, probably opened
a lot of people's eyes to go Lee, I got
to get that music. I got to download that and
(25:07):
you know, they end up selling their music catalog for
over a billion dollars, you know, by comparison, you know,
Springsteen and some of the Neil Young and Dylan I
think they were five hundred million. Queen went for maybe
one point two billion for their catalog.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
Yeah, Paul, when I was a kid, I saw the
Buddy Holly story and the Buddy Holly's way before my time.
But Gary Busey, he nailed it. And I learned more
about Buddy Holly in two hours than I ever had.
So it was a good refresher for someone who missed
that era.
Speaker 2 (25:40):
So Todd doesn't have to go see the Springsteen movie
since the Broncos got the win.
Speaker 15 (25:45):
I did hear some of the critics say they couldn't
bear to watch them.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
Okay, I see what you did. Yeah, Jeremy Allen White,
he's in the bag. I know you'd be able to
connect the Thank you, Todd.
Speaker 6 (25:56):
Yes, I do find myself lately.
Speaker 16 (26:00):
Having a hard time jumping from movie to movie and
it'll be the same actors and you're like, oh, look
now he's a rock star.
Speaker 6 (26:08):
Oh look, now he's a chef. Oh look now he's
a cop. Oh look now he's a scientist.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
Oh look.
Speaker 16 (26:14):
It's all the same people. It's like like Leonardo d.
Katz is nothing new, you know, but I'm like, wow,
so now, oh look, Leonardo Kaffer is a school teacher. Now,
oh that's fun. It's just like the same people over
and over and over. Oh look, now he's a baseball player.
That's fun.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Yeah, it's weird to me.
Speaker 6 (26:31):
It's just a weird thing. I'm having a hard time
letting it go sometimes.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
Well, if they do a Stone's biopic, I'd like to
offer up an older Mick Jagger. I would play that role.
Maybe not, you're open for it. He's not that much.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
Older than me. That's the problem.
Speaker 6 (26:53):
I might have to audition.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
But that's okay. Saw they all.
Speaker 7 (27:00):
Now what else?
Speaker 3 (27:02):
Mixed eighty two geez I ended up this weekend.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
I had this question in my head and I and
I was driving me crazy because we had Charlie Sheen
on a couple of weeks ago, and it came to
me and I went, oh, my god, this is going
to drive me crazy. I should have asked a question
to Charlie Sheen and said, what's more surprising that you're
still alive?
Speaker 3 (27:28):
Or Keith Richards? How do you think he would have
answered that?
Speaker 2 (27:33):
Because for some reason I thought it was a brilliant
question and it it wouldn't leave me. I kept going, God,
I should ask that question. It's okay.
Speaker 16 (27:41):
So what you're saying is so the question is is
who would be because of our past experience in life?
Speaker 2 (27:47):
And we lived our lives.
Speaker 6 (27:48):
So that's that's an interesting question. Let me think about
that is an excellent depersonation.
Speaker 7 (27:52):
That's how he was talking to you with that.
Speaker 2 (27:54):
I know he was. He was he went from being
out of it when we would speak to him to
now he's so hyper focused.
Speaker 16 (28:03):
I'm saying, so what you say it's because of the
lives that we've led before this.
Speaker 6 (28:06):
Yeah, interesting, interesting question.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
I haven't traveled as much as he is. Matt in Nashville. Hi, Matt,
what's on your mind?
Speaker 11 (28:16):
Yeah, and appreciate you. I appreciate you taking my friend.
Hope you are well. He actually got a nomination for
the worst win of the weekend, and that was kind
of leads into my best and worst one of the
rarities where it's the same game, same team, the Virginia
North Carolina game. You said you watched it. I'm sorry
for that. It's kind of game only a fan could love.
(28:38):
Poorly played, poorly officiated, poorly coached, just a terrible game
over all the way around. That's my worst, but my
best as a Virginia fan. We still found a way
to win. It's our third overtime win of the season,
two on the road line in Louisville, and then of
course the big one at home against Florida State. So
mycardiac's cabs are still you know, we're still surviving, still
(29:00):
still in the playoff race. And I would love to
do a pie in the face challenge. Got four games
left on the docket here, California Wake, Forest Duke, and
Virginia Tech. I will say, Mike Cat will run the
table and make the ACC Championship game and ultimately the
College Football Playoff. Any want to take me up on that?
Speaker 2 (29:21):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (29:21):
Fully, this is a weird one because I didn't pay
a lot of attention to CAZ football Virginia CAZ this year.
They have a very mild schedule Coastal Carolina, Bill and
Mary As, they're out of conference. They're seven and one,
and he's right, they got cal Wake, Duke, Virginia Tech.
They're not going to want to put that team in
the playoff.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
People are going to have a problem with that.
Speaker 4 (29:43):
I know how they think they don't want a Virginia
Cavaliers team in the plays no offense, no offense. Not
my opinion, their opinion. Yeah, but if a team is
eleven and one.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
No, I don't think that's you know, running the gauntlet there, Matt,
So nobody's going to take you up on it. You
guys should win those four games, and the Florida State
game doesn't look as impressive now.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
But they hammered Bill and Mary. Yeah fifty five sixteen.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
Yeah, Mary's got to get a little stronger, you know,
get in the weight room. Yeah, she gets out there
and it's like, come on, Mary, Bill plays okay, yes, Marvin. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (30:19):
The CFP committee is going to be like, if they
win the ACC, they have to be in.
Speaker 4 (30:27):
Right, They'll find a way.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
No, you gotta know they got to be in. You
win the ACC, you're in.
Speaker 4 (30:34):
I know technically, but I don't put anything cast the committee.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
Yeah, we'll disband the ACC.
Speaker 3 (30:39):
Zach and Knoxville.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
Hi, Zach, what's on your mind?
Speaker 14 (30:44):
Hey, thanks for taking my call.
Speaker 13 (30:47):
Just the unfortunate news on Sunday kind of put a
damper on my weekend, the passing of Nick mangled And
I don't want to get too sentimental on everybody, but
you have someone you love, so why haven't talked to
you in a while, just to reach out and say hey.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
Zach got a chance to spend time with Nick Mangold
socially and an Ohio state guy. I think he might
have been a six or seven time Pro Bowl center.
He's probably going to go to the Hall of Fame
one day. What a great personality. Great personality, fun guy,
light up the room. Everybody loved Nick Mangold, and he
(31:26):
was waiting for a kidney. He had been battling kidney
disease I think since two thousand and six, and he
never mentioned it, didn't bring it up, but I think
here at the very end he knew that he really
needed a match and it was probably going to be
(31:47):
too late anyway. But he was great. Everybody loved Nick mangle.
He was forty one years of age. Thank you for
reminding me to bring that up. I was going and
it was like, when do you bring it up? But yeah,
good dude, good dude. Yeah, Marv.
Speaker 7 (32:07):
You saw guys like Rex Ryan and Willie Cologne talk
about him and they couldn't get through it without getting
choked up. So you could tell how much he meant
to those guys and Jets fans all around, especially Aaron Glenn.
After you won, he mentioned him also, so big loss
for everyone.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
Yeah, and that's where you have those guys who are
just dependable, there's solid, there's no drama, they just do
their job, and it's probably just being an offensive lineman,
like just do your job, show up and do your job.
And he did it. And he did it at a
high level, and he did it for some very good
Jets teams. Well, take a break, Last call for phone calls,
(32:41):
what we learn, what's in store tomorrow? After this?
Speaker 1 (32:43):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in

What's in store tomorrow?
Speaker 2 (32:59):
Reg alsis Miller Junior the third tomorrow and Hall of
Famer Steve Young will stop by as well. Chiefs big
favorites tonight ten and a half against a Commander's team
without Jaden Daniels. I'm looking at some of the schedules
here with divisional leaders, the Broncos at the Texans host
(33:20):
the Raiders, host the Chiefs, and then a bye week
Patriots they have the Falcons at home. They're at the Buccaneers.
They host the Jets. They're at the Bengals, Steelers they
host the Colts at the Chargers host the Bengals at
the Bears, the Colts at the Steelers host the Falcons
(33:41):
by week, and then at the Chiefs. So we're going
to find out here in the next month. If everybody's
all in on the Colts, then if I look at
the divisional leaders in the NFC, San Francisco's at the Giants,
host the Rams at the Cardinals, and then they host
the Panthers. They got to get healthy. But then you're
not getting you know, Fred Warner or Bosa not coming back.
(34:03):
I wonder if they make a trade for maybe a
defensive player. Uh, Buccaneers bye week, host the Patriots at
the Bills at the Rams. Wow, Eagles bye week at
the Falcons. They host the Lions at the Cowboys. That
could be tough sledding. Green Bay got the Panthers, got
(34:25):
the Eagles at home at the Giants, and then you'll
host the Vikings the divisional leaders there. Whatever that means
to you. But it did take up a little bit
of time, Yes, Pauline.
Speaker 4 (34:36):
See, and I was saying, pardon the alliteration. Are you
saying that next Sunday is separation Sunday. I barely made
it through that. Like Bear's Bengals, someone's done for the year.
After this, someone's right out of the picture.
Speaker 16 (34:49):
I kind of feel like we just had separation Sunday.
Are we going back to back separation Sundays.
Speaker 4 (34:53):
Is can't do it back to back.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
I thought it was college football that did the labeling.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
Separation Saturday.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
Yeah, coming up separation Saturday, Penn State, Ohio's day rooms Saturday.
Speaker 3 (35:04):
Yes, ton, it sounds more like necessary November.
Speaker 15 (35:06):
You just gave like the three next three four games
for each of the top teams necessary November.
Speaker 2 (35:11):
Thank you Tod for repeating it. Appreciate that.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
Like Broncos Texans next week, Texans make a little push,
but the Broncos that's it.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
Trip in Vegas, I trip best and worst of the weekend.
Speaker 17 (35:25):
Hey dp, I got the best and worse and then
a double pile of the face bet.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
My best and worst.
Speaker 17 (35:31):
Happened in the same game. My South Carolina game Cocks
in the matter of ninety seconds went from butt kicking
chickens to fried chicken. Then on the double double pile
of the face bet. I will for this, is fer
mister Fritz. I will take the Jaguars, excuse me, the
Raiders this weekend against the Jaguars, and then I'll take
(35:53):
the Raiders against the Broncos on the seventh. And then
when I see y'all in a couple of weeks, we'll
pick our pot, but we have to win both games
to get a pie of the face.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
Okay, are you in Jacksonville for them in Las Vegas?
Speaker 11 (36:07):
No?
Speaker 3 (36:08):
Is that game in Jacksonville?
Speaker 11 (36:10):
Oh, it's here. Both games are here.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
I'll be at both games. Oh okay, I'll be at
the Raider. I'll be at there.
Speaker 17 (36:16):
I'll be there this weekend and then I'll be there
for the games.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
But you already owe Todd a pie to the face.
Speaker 17 (36:24):
No, No, I don't know him anything.
Speaker 2 (36:25):
This is a new bet.
Speaker 17 (36:26):
I always pick on Todd, but I'm trying to get
them series bet Todd.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
Uh, he's got the Broncos losing to the Raiders and
the Jags losing to the Raiders for a pie to
the face.
Speaker 15 (36:38):
So the way I understand that the Raiders have to
beat the Jaguars and Broncos their next two games.
Speaker 9 (36:43):
Is that that simple?
Speaker 17 (36:45):
No, we either have to lose both or win both
to lose the bet. But when I see you in
a couple of weeks at Formula one, one of us
will be one up and one down and we will
decide which pie the other one will get if we
lose the second bet.
Speaker 4 (37:00):
Yes, Bully, I have a question for the room. The
last caller said jaguars, Yes twice. I have a buddy
who's been calling them the jaguars for twenty years. Is
there any chance we're wrong and they're right.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
What's not spelled that way? That would be it's jaguars.
It's not jaguars, right, But some people.
Speaker 4 (37:18):
Still say that.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
I think I think European people will say jaguars. They
say jaguar.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
Jaguar.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
Yeah, I think that's it's closer to that trip. You
don't have any takers here, but thank you.
Speaker 9 (37:30):
I don't think I fully understood.
Speaker 15 (37:31):
I was willing to say the breeders are not going
to beat the jaguars Adam Broncos I thought that was
the best.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
Yeah, I don't know that jaguars. We used to make
fun of it on sports. I remember when I was
there with overmen and we're like, Jaguars, Jaguars, jaguars. By
the way, I picked up a copy of Spin magazine,
whoa all right, look at you, and I didn't know
they were still in business. I've shocked to hear it.
(37:58):
I used to read Spin Magazine all the time, special
place in my heart. They were the first publication to
do something on the Big Show on Sports Center, and
they were ahead of the game with that with the
others that followed. But I remember they came in and
did a story on myself and Keith Oberman the Big Show.
(38:19):
But it was fun read and Spin and getting suggestions
on different music, different artists. And so I think their
fortieth anniversary forty years of Spin magazine with Kurt.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
Cobain on the cover. Kevin in Ohio, Hi, Kevin.
Speaker 9 (38:36):
Hey DP, thanks for holding hey my best of the weekend.
The Fox NFL pregame show had a spoof.
Speaker 14 (38:43):
Bit about what was called the Rage Cabinet.
Speaker 9 (38:50):
It was actually a isolation booth the Rage Boots where
you could close it and just rage about your football team.
And I immediately thought, what a gift.
Speaker 11 (38:59):
For Fritzie's wife.
Speaker 9 (39:00):
I think I'm willing to even kick in some money
to give her that, and I think it would be
the gift that keeps on giving.
Speaker 2 (39:06):
Oh okay, well, thank you, Kevin. A rage against the machine,
but she has nothing to rage against.
Speaker 15 (39:14):
No, she just she gets very negative seeing me get
all crazy everythings. She's like whatever Denver does, think they're
just not that good. Yet it's only his second year.
But when you got them already deep into the players,
they're not that good weight against OKSC.
Speaker 2 (39:24):
You had a good day, I did, Yeah, you had
a good day. This day in sports history, Paul.
Speaker 4 (39:29):
Got a couple for you.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
Let's see.
Speaker 4 (39:32):
Oh now, oh, there's a bad one. Nineteen ninety five,
the contract that finalized the Cleveland Browns moved to Baltimore
and signed in secret. Nineteen ninety six, but Adams remember him,
The owner of the Houston Oilers announced he would allow
his team to play for one final season in Houston
Lane Duck, and then they moved to Nashville and uh oh.
Two thousand and two, the Anaheim Angels won their first
(39:53):
World Series, beating the Giants in Game seven.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
Yeah yeah, uh finally.
Speaker 3 (39:59):
So as to the poll question, Seaton, Hey, we got
a bunch of them. Let's see who this one was from?
Speaker 2 (40:05):
Paul.
Speaker 6 (40:06):
We never really got around to it. But who would
you pick to win the AFC?
Speaker 16 (40:09):
Your options are in one option, Patriots, Colts, Broncos, and
then your other option is the Chiefs. Jeeves, the Chiefs
are currently winning. Yes, if you had to pick of
those three. There are lots of teams who are upset.
Speaker 3 (40:22):
Ever heard of the Bills and never heard of the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (40:24):
Ever heard of the everybody else in the thing.
Speaker 3 (40:26):
Okay, that's not the question though.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
All right, let's go around the room. What we learn
on the program? Todd, what'd you learn today?
Speaker 15 (40:31):
You feel Jonathan Tailor should be the leading candidate of
NFL IFP not simply offensive Player of the Year award?
Speaker 3 (40:36):
Satan would you learn today?
Speaker 6 (40:38):
I learned that LSU has the best job opening right now.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
Marvin, bill Kauer Special Teams legend.
Speaker 4 (40:43):
Oh Ali Haji chic Todd, what.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
Did I learn today?
Speaker 15 (40:47):
Bill Kauer did not like the Steelers unis last night
against the Packers.
Speaker 2 (40:51):
Have a great day, everybody. Steve Young tomorrow, Reggie Miller tomorrow,
and hopefully you for Todd Seaton, Marv Paula yours truly,
We'll talk to you on Tuesday.
