Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Andrew Marshawn, senior sports media consultant, columnists for The Athletic,
All right, help us understand this carriage dispute. And let's
say I don't know anything, which you can say, but
help me understand how we got here and how it's settled.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
Well, how we got here is these disputes have been
going on forever. YouTube started YouTube TV in twenty seventeen
thirty five dollars per month, the idea of being cables
too expensive, So you know, they put this together. It's
become pretty popular. Ten million people have it, and.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
Now as they grow where.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
They're in competition with Comcast and Spectrum whoever.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
Around twelve million.

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Is the biggest places where people get their networks like ESPN, Fox, NBC, etc.
They're now eighty two eighty three dollars a month. So
what happens is there's fights all the time between over
the years between providers like ESPN. ESPN charges around fifteen
dollars per month to these entities and then they pass

(01:15):
it on to consumers and so they are arguing about
the price. When you look at Alphabet, which owns Google,
and YouTube. They are a three trillion dollar company. Disney
is a two hundred billion dollar company. And so it's
I wrote my column yesterday, it's like rooting for the

(01:37):
Dodgers or the Yankees.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
Nobody wins. The losers are people like you have YouTube TV.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Unfortunately, Dan, how do we make our voices heard? Because
ESPN's had their big name talent come out, and I
guess campaign that ESPN's not the bad guy in this.

Speaker 5 (01:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
I think the point that I would make is the
amount of money of these companies make three trillion dollars.
You know, that's the market cap around for Alphabet For Disney,
it's two hundred billions, So your eighty dollars is not
that important to them.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
So I'm not saying they don't care. I'm not saying
they don't care. They do care.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
I don't think they're insincere and caring at some level.
But in terms of this is just pure business. YouTube
wants to be treated like the big boys with the
like I could pore people with the actualities of it all,
but they want to be treated like the other big entities.
ESPN is pointing to the fact that they just easily

(02:37):
did deals with spectrum and others at the same price
point or similar price points, and so that's where the
divide is, and so there's no picking who's right. I
wrote yesterday, Google's mantra or motto has been you know
a couple of things, but one is, you know.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
Do no evil.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
It feels very evil that you're paying eighty dollars a month,
you did your end, you didn't get your gay teams
this weekend or Monday.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
And then Mickey Mouse.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
I've said before it's a he's a passive, aggressive little rodent. Now,
they do a lot of great things at Disney, but
they also are business people, so not always the happiest
place on earth.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
And so there's nobody a root for here.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
And you know, we went through though where where it's
gonna take a little longer now because you had college
football on Saturday, you had Monday night football.

Speaker 6 (03:27):
No deal.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
So now I don't really expect anything to happen until
you know, this weekend or maybe Monday football next week.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
What's the future of streaming, Like, can you get to
a point where ABC, CBS, NBC aren't carrying the marquee events?
Is there is that in the linear TV in the
not too distant future.

Speaker 4 (03:51):
Yeah, I don't think that. I think if you look
at all time.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Maybe, but in terms of the short term, next decade
or so, we're you're gonna have this. I mean, I
think a perfect example would be the NBA just did
incredible deals for them for seventy six billion dollars and
they're gonna be on NBC, your peacock as well.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
They're on Amazon Prime and then they remained on ABC
and ESPN.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
So the idea that Netflix or YouTube TV or Apple
or Amazon Prime Video is about to take over everything
is a misnomer, at least in the near term.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
Even when the NFL, which is surely going.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
To opt out when they can at the end of
this decade, or at least the threat and to opt out,
I don't think it will change. I do think you
could see a Netflix get in bigger, or YouTube TV
getting bigger, Amazon Prime Video getting more. I think those
are all possibilities, But I don't think, and I think
it would be stupid of the NFL where to get

(04:48):
rid of the model they have with ABC and ESPN.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
And the networks.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
And so, yes, those guys are coming, but they're not
fully there yet.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Andrew Marshawn. He works for the app Athletic. You can
also listen to is twice a week podcast at Andrew
marshawan dot com. How good month did baseball have?

Speaker 4 (05:08):
Amazing?

Speaker 3 (05:09):
I think we all were intrigued the numbers for Fox.
Twenty six million people watched on Game seven, which is
even if you understand the ratings because of a Canadian team.
They didn't get the Toronto market, so the home city market.
I think there are another ten million people or so
who watched in Toronto. Those don't count for Fox's ratings.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
So really good. And then the playoffs are always really good Baseball.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Look, I've crushed baseball because the way they've done their
media deals have been terrible, and they're just they're still bad,
and they're pointing towards twenty twenty nine and maybe they'll
be able to make it so it's a little less complicated.
If you're a Yankee fan, for example, you might go
seven days and you might have to have seven different
entities to watch your games.

Speaker 4 (05:55):
It's a problem.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
And so but the sport as a whole is really
doing well. The pitchclock we all know is great. Attendance
has been very high, the playoffs are exciting and the
best time in the sport. So you know they're gonna
have to figure out their media deals. But in terms
of this month giving them some momentum going into next

(06:18):
year when they add NBC and Peacock, they are gonna
be on Netflix for opening Day and then ESPN and ABC.
Steal is going to change a little bit. They have
momentum as a sport. Now, they got to figure out
how to get rid of blackouts and some other things
which they know and they're not they're not naive to
it all. But that's their next step in terms of

(06:40):
growing even more.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
How is ESPN done bringing in the TNT studio show.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
Yeah, I think it's been great. I think I love
Charles Barky like you do. I think we were probably
too maybe talk to him the most throughout the whole process.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
When he retired and unretired.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
And and he did kind of get into that he thought,
you know, they didn't tell him.

Speaker 5 (07:02):
I mean I.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
Reported from the beginning they weren't acquiring it to change it.
I mean, you see what they've done with Pat McAfee.
They licensed his show. He does his show the way
he wants.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
Steven A.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Smith at this point does whatever he wants. The idea
that you're going to bring in those four guys iconic
show and change it did not make any sense, and
especially if you watched what ESPN's done.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
So you know ESPN social media people go a little crazy.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
I think, you know, some other people who have some
big audience did kind of question if ESPN would leave
it alone.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
I never thought they would touch it. And so it's
the same program.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
It's gonna be off of the air a little bit
now till the new year, but then it will be
on every week through the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Good to talk to you, Thank you, Andrew. Thanks Dan,
Andrew marsha On.

I do call Jay Glazer. I do call. I talk
to him kind of spiritual guidance. Sometimes I get with
Jay Glazer. I'm just like I am. I'm not feeling
good physically and Jay Goo hey man, like he's my
life coach. I didn't know I needed one, but I
got one. Jay Glazer from Fox NFL Sunday joining us
from London? Yes, what are you doing in London?

Speaker 6 (08:55):
Why not?

Speaker 7 (08:55):
Why would I not be here? London's the trade deadliner? Well,
the trade throw down? Didn't you know that?

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Are you ahead of everything?

Speaker 5 (09:01):
Do you know?

Speaker 6 (09:05):
I'm getting ahead for Sunday out here in London?

Speaker 8 (09:07):
You know?

Speaker 6 (09:07):
You know what happened. I'm doing our Veterans Day Show,
which is the best show we do every year.

Speaker 7 (09:12):
Right, We're not doing it from a military base this year,
so I'm gonna be doing it from Washington, d C.

Speaker 6 (09:17):
From the Veterans Day Parade. And I said to.

Speaker 7 (09:19):
My wife, Hey, you know, I'm never on the East
Coast during the season ever, so you want to go
somewhere Caribbean or something like.

Speaker 6 (09:26):
It's just as you know, to go from Malibu to Washington,
d C. Is you know seven hours? I said, you
want to do?

Speaker 7 (09:33):
And she said, you know, my wife was modeled all
over the world and she's never been to London.

Speaker 6 (09:37):
So she's like, how about London. I'm like done, So
We're going to London.

Speaker 7 (09:40):
So that's why I'm doing the trade deadline from London
here and I'm gonna go from here to DC.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
Awesome. So it's the Veterans Day Show Sunday from DC,
the Veterans Day Parade with Fox NFL Sunday. What do
you expect to happen today?

Speaker 6 (09:53):
So no, no, go ahead, So I do look Dallas,
it isn't done.

Speaker 7 (10:00):
I want to make some moves here. Uh, they're brought
in the Logan Wilson. They're also still talking about bringing
in a pass rusher. Seattle's getting little. They've been aggressive
to upgrade most on the offensive side of the ball.

Speaker 6 (10:11):
You know, everyone's looking for pass rushers.

Speaker 7 (10:13):
But but you know, for Trey Hendrickson, who a week ago,
I would you know, teams are like now they're they're
not interested. Now they're more than listening, but they're asking
for an awful lot Bradley Chubb's the other guy out there,
which which I think Miami is just kind of looking
to get his money off their books.

Speaker 6 (10:30):
They're not asking for an awful lot.

Speaker 7 (10:32):
So I could see one of these teams looking for
a pass rusher like you know Dallas Chicago teams like that,
you know, jumping in on a on a Bradley Chubb.
And then you know, look, everyone's looking for a corner,
but there's really no corners out there. A couple of
receivers on Fox that you know, there are teams who
were asking about a j. Brown and he was like, no,

(10:53):
no shot that they'd be a mutant in that locker
room of Ajan Brown went anywhere. So that's not happening.
So then after that, you know there's a big drop off.
There's like, you know, she Heed from the Saints. I
can see him go on the move, Calvin Ridley from
the Titans. They're trying to you know, shop around for
a third round pick, which is a lot. You know,
Myer's out in with the Raiders and the Steelers were

(11:14):
interested earlier, but there's not you know, people for trade deadline,
they're hoping that okay, we're gonna have a Christian McCaffrey
type thing. And even like Garoppolo is big years ago
when the forty nine ers did that, or Von Miller
with the Rams.

Speaker 6 (11:26):
A couple of years ago.

Speaker 7 (11:26):
They're hoping for these big names, but it's just not
like that these days. It hasn't been for the last
couple of years.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
But of all these edge rushers, I don't know if
Max Crosby is untouchable.

Speaker 6 (11:37):
No so Max.

Speaker 7 (11:38):
Max told me he does want to go anywhere. That's
straight from the worst of mouth, which he's told them,
and they've also told.

Speaker 6 (11:43):
Him we're not moving yet.

Speaker 7 (11:44):
I know it's fun because you put a little thing
out the other yesterday with like an eagle symbol, and
everybody thought he.

Speaker 5 (11:48):
Was going to the Eagle.

Speaker 6 (11:51):
I actually texted one of my guys and the eagles
and I.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Wish and it's not happening, okay.

Speaker 7 (11:56):
But I had another team say to me they asked
me to ask about Max. It's funny to being an
inside because people will ask at.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Least me, wait, they're using you as a middleman, because then.

Speaker 7 (12:08):
It's culpable deniability if they If I've been had teams
off say hey, can you offer them this? Because then
let's say it's a player and it's not them trying
to get rid of player.

Speaker 6 (12:17):
Right, they didn't call I call.

Speaker 7 (12:18):
I'm just an inside trying to get, trying to get,
but then I have the inside information.

Speaker 6 (12:23):
But Max, I had A team asked me about.

Speaker 7 (12:25):
Max and I said, uh, I said, no, he wants
to stay, you know, and uh, guys like, man, he's loyal, said,
Max is extremely loyal, and they go, that's what we
love them.

Speaker 6 (12:36):
But man, we wish he wasn't.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
What about Miles Garrett? No untouchable.

Speaker 7 (12:43):
I've been told the hard no from everybody I've asked.
You know, I don't understand. If I'm the Browns and
I can get, I think you can. Probably you may
be able to get more than what you know Dallas
cut from Michael Parsons, they're clearly going, you know, they're
still in thoroughs in rebuilding mode, so there's just always
a rebuilding, rebuilding mode.

Speaker 6 (13:02):
I feel bad for Browns fans, I really do.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
Okay, that's speaking of the Browns, and I know there's
all this you know, speculation, rumor innuendo, and then somebody says, hey,
the Jets should trade for Shador Sanders so let me
just ask, is is that something that you think that
the Jets would entertain.

Speaker 7 (13:21):
I don't know what the Jets thinking is, but obviously
they have a quarterback issue over there, so I don't know.
I don't know where they had him in the draft,
and that's another issue. I think there's a lot of
teams were looking at Shaudors. You're really high up when
you want him the first or second. They didn't, so
I don't even know they can consider him later on.
Clearly he's talented, right, so he kind of just got

(13:42):
lost in that shuffle, but I don't know where he.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Was on their board or torp me to say, we're
talking to Jay Glazer joining us from of course London,
Fox NFL Sunday Insider, and he'll be there for the
Veterans Day Parade in DC coming up this week.

Speaker 7 (13:57):
In the Veterans I'm not going to be in London
for the Veterans Day break good. That was totally messed
up with.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Yes, yes, that would be. That would be ben. Let
me speculate on Chris Greer the GM getting fired by
the Dolphins. I'll just speculate and then you tell me
if I'm off base, because you're keeping Mike McDaniel to
the end of the regular season. And I'm wondering if
management said or ownership said, hey, we need you to
sell off these parts and Chris Greer said, no, I

(14:25):
don't want to. I brought all these guys, built this
and uh and then they fire him, but they keep
the head coach.

Speaker 7 (14:31):
No, No, I don't think that at all. I don't
know why the timing was. It was interesting though, because
of the timing of that's.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
It's a week before the trade deadline when you need GM.

Speaker 7 (14:41):
Yes, because also all the conversations that he had had
Champ Kelly, poor Champ Kelly got the Sunday He's like,
I don't really know what conversations really were being at
and like, you know, I had one GM just like
I'm just gonna tell.

Speaker 6 (14:53):
Them that Chris and I have disagreed upon right. It
was terrible timing.

Speaker 7 (15:01):
There was definitely a lot of empathy for champ Kelly
in there, But no, I don't think that was why
they did it.

Speaker 6 (15:08):
But yes, it has There's a lot of people.

Speaker 7 (15:11):
Who looking in the league going why because then you
have the Madrid game then the bye, so it makes
sense there and I do know Steve Russ had a
lot of love for Chris Career. I don't know why
they decided then, why they had to make that move
at that point, because that set things back. Maybe it did,
maybe because again there they still got you know, a
three for Jail and Phillips.

Speaker 6 (15:31):
They're gonna move.

Speaker 7 (15:32):
I think I wouldn't be a surprised if they moved
Chubbed today, you know. And then you know the problem
also is that now when you're trying to do a
trade though, it has to go all the way up
to the flagpole, yeah there in Miami. So you know
it's different than if it was just Chris Career.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Why did they keep the head coach?

Speaker 6 (15:53):
I think you know, Steve russtill hasn't fitted for that coach.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Can he save his job?

Speaker 5 (16:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (16:02):
I think you know what the reason why? I say, yeah,
you remember that year Jim Fossel look like he was done.

Speaker 7 (16:08):
He's like, I'm putting all my chips in the middle
of the table, right, and then they go on this
run they go to the super Bowl, right. Remember also
the year and this is why I don't do the
coach's totsia crap because remember the year also that Ron Rivera.
He was supposedly fired, and then he goes to this
great run, becomes riverboat Ron they go to the Super
Bowl right like you know there was. People have guys
fired all the time, and I don't do it because

(16:29):
I like to deal in accuracy. I don't need I
told you the guys this years ago. I like to
be right, and that's why I don't do the minute
by minute breaking new stuff anymore, because.

Speaker 6 (16:38):
People don't care about who's right. They care about who first, and.

Speaker 7 (16:41):
Even when you're first, everybody' stealing it inside two seconds.
So I just want to make sure I'm always right
and that the coaching carousel, there's gonna be fifteen twenty
names on every year, there's gonna be seven openings, which
means at least half of those or three fourths of
those were incorrect.

Speaker 6 (16:57):
So is there a way for him to save his job?
There is? It involves winning the table in a really
big fashion.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
What's the future of tu Uh and Kyler Murray In
your opinion.

Speaker 7 (17:08):
I wouldn't be surprised if after this year, you know,
they could see if they can get something for Kyler
after this year.

Speaker 6 (17:15):
I don't know what kind of market there would be
for Coyle.

Speaker 7 (17:17):
And then as far as the Dolphins, I can't answer
because I don't know who's gonna be the coach next year.
If it's Micha l'daniel, those two have worked really well
in the past. Mike has a really good offensive coach.
There's you can't deny that it's a really good offensive coach.
But I can't answer that because I don't know who's
gonna be there. But as far as Kyler, there is

(17:40):
there's certain certainly cap implications. It was even this.

Speaker 6 (17:43):
Look.

Speaker 7 (17:44):
You hear so many things during this trade deadline, and
one of them was, hey, man, I'm here.

Speaker 6 (17:49):
You know Colonels are shopping Kyler. I'm like, there's no way, there's.

Speaker 7 (17:52):
No way you're gonna be able to do that now
with the capital implications. But I can almost see it like, Okay,
it's starting to leak out there now, just to set
it up for the.

Speaker 6 (18:00):
Off season to see what's out there.

Speaker 7 (18:02):
And that's you know the other funny line. I used
the stun Fox the other day, but this is real.

Speaker 6 (18:05):
I got this.

Speaker 7 (18:06):
I like four or five different gms have the same
type of line where they're like, oh, the line for
for subterfuge. This here, like everybody here on the draft
try to try to do subterfuge with you know, reporters
and this and that, right, but they're using it on
each other the GMS this year's trade deadline, where guy
would be like, man, we're not trying to trade player expert.
Can you believe all these guys are calling us about

(18:27):
player X, which means, what don't you want to give
us some player exit?

Speaker 2 (18:31):
Subterfuge? Look at you. You go to London and you're
using words.

Speaker 6 (18:35):
Yes, I'm all smart. I't to you with in Oxford.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
Uh. And you're in great spirits, you're in great health.

Speaker 6 (18:42):
Great hey, And I like what you said. I appreciate it. Man, Dan,
I love you.

Speaker 7 (18:46):
And you know, listen, I talk to people all the
time about checking up on their people when worse, when
I'm struggling, I check up on two people and let
them know. But I also, at the same time check
up on two people and don't let them know. And
that's just my way of being of service and that
helps me between the ears. And you're one of the
guys I reached out to and try and and check
up on it.

Speaker 6 (19:05):
And I know what you went.

Speaker 7 (19:06):
Through that that your health issues. It's man, it's slnely
and it's miserable. And I'm like, I will be there
for my dude. And then out of nowhere, right you
check up on me. I know last year, out of nowhere,
I know, right like Dan, I got the thing for you.

Speaker 6 (19:22):
You got this place called origins.

Speaker 7 (19:24):
I went down and did themselves and prevented me from
a three level fusion on my back and it freaking
regrew the reattached the my torn bicep tendant back to
my shoulder, like built a bridge, like tune.

Speaker 6 (19:35):
You got to try this.

Speaker 7 (19:36):
If anything, you'll just you and your wife will love
going down and you'll have the best time. And it
gave you a healing which like to meet you and
I have had a bunch of tears on it. That's
what a brother should do for the for the brothers. Man,
you know, you share healing.

Speaker 2 (19:49):
Yeah, out of nowhere, I called Jay, I said to
my wife, I said, I got to call Jay Glazer.
She goes, who's Jay Glazer? I said, I go in,
who's j Glazier?

Speaker 6 (19:58):
Don't watch Fox simple.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
Sun, No, No, she's she's she's a chefty guy, you know. No,
she's not. No, not after I explained who you were,
and then I talked to you and I said, hun,
we're going to Panama for stem cell. She goes anything
that will help you and I and she heard your

(20:21):
voice and she said, he boys, he always liked that.
I said, no, no, you went through a dark period
and I remember talking to you and then I called
you and You're like, dude, I'm going to Italy. I'm
getting married. I've never felt better in my life. I go,
wait a minute, what are you doing? And then I mean,

(20:41):
helped change my life and got got me healthy. Err
And as I've said before on this show, it's not
for everybody. It's something that I believe in.

Speaker 6 (20:50):
It for everybody.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
Well, I just want to be careful because people have said, hey,
it didn't work for me, or you know, they're not
going to the right place. But but it is is
it helped me and it's a stem cell umbilical cord
stem cell.

Speaker 5 (21:04):
And uh.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
I went to Panama at a place called Origins. And
you know when you go in there and there are
famous people in there, Jay, and you're you're going, oh,
oh hi, yeah, oh hi, you know, are you all
down there to heal right, yes, yes, uh, I know.
Are you checking your phone for trade in for I'm getting.

Speaker 7 (21:25):
Call actually now saying guy asked me, what do you
think about Quinn Williams?

Speaker 6 (21:29):
Last second here might have a shot? So great, dude,
love the guy, don't know her.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
The Jets selling well, they warn't.

Speaker 7 (21:36):
They were kind of like, hey, you gotta make us
a huge offer, blow us out of the water. But
you know, maybe somebody's willing to do something like that.
But I think that's just the interpretation of one team.
That's that's what you got to go through.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Quentin Williams would be a great pick up for something.

Speaker 6 (21:50):
Yeah, I don't know if that's really going to be.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
But Chub's going to get traded, you think so?

Speaker 6 (21:55):
No, I think Cowboys Chubs early on the block, so.

Speaker 7 (22:01):
He has a better chance than I think Williams. I'm
just saying quinnin as of the other day was like
a hard no. And now it's kind of like, hey,
maybe we can make a run of them.

Speaker 6 (22:09):
Can we make a run? And guys will ask me
like what kind of.

Speaker 7 (22:14):
What kind of guy? They last me, what kind of
guy is you know what? Like you go back to
the stem cell I've trained. I was one of the
first guys in the NFL to fight professionally in mixed
martial arts and twenty two years ago, and before we
really knew how to we just beat the hell out
of each other.

Speaker 6 (22:29):
And then I Fox made me stop fighting.

Speaker 7 (22:31):
I started coaching guys, and I've started training NFL players
in MMA, and I've trained hundreds and hundreds so as
a results, and then also like my training partners are
Randy Gature and Chuck Ladell and guys like this, And
I got everything working against me.

Speaker 6 (22:44):
I'm five foot seven, Jewish guy said, I got everything
working against me.

Speaker 7 (22:48):
But as a result of wrestling all these football players
man and training with these guys in spar and I've
ruptured twelve discs.

Speaker 6 (22:54):
In my back.

Speaker 7 (22:54):
I don't have an L four L five And Dan,
that's like you had heard me, Like I had a doctor.

Speaker 6 (23:00):
Doctor walkins out here.

Speaker 7 (23:01):
He's like, Jay, there's no more epidurals, there's no more tortos. No,
like we either got to do a three level fusion
or we're putting a rod in your back. And for me,
I just thought life was gonna be over. Like people
keep asking me, why do you keep like training and
sparring and doing this. I said, I'd rather kill me
than I die from not doing it. And I went
down just on a I threw a flyer up on
that stem cell. And the next day it's supposed to

(23:23):
take like good, you know, sixty days, ninety days, whatever.

Speaker 6 (23:27):
I was a super responder.

Speaker 7 (23:28):
Day two, I got out of bed and my wife
was like, oh my god, you're standing straight up. You're
five to seven again. But as the first time I
had been paying free in twenty something year. I first
ruped through my back in two thousand and one or
something like that, and man, it's just changed my life.

Speaker 6 (23:46):
So I'm glad I was able to give you healing.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Man, I really give me the NFL player you think
could professionally fight like ufc oh Man.

Speaker 7 (23:54):
There's a bunch of First of all, Kyle Long, but
you'd have to get down. We have to fight in
Japan with his no weight limits, was so nasty. Deshaun
Golston safety, Oh my god. And then a guy that
I've trained recently last couple of years, Derwin James.

Speaker 5 (24:11):
Man.

Speaker 6 (24:11):
I love Durwin.

Speaker 7 (24:12):
Derwin is so athletic and he just picks everything up
and move and some athletes it takes a little while
from them pick things up.

Speaker 6 (24:20):
Other guys, man, they pick it up. I'll tell you what.
The other interesting thing.

Speaker 7 (24:23):
I've also trained a bunch of performers, right, I'm trying
to training that Jonas brothers and like whiz Khalifa and
stoop Dog Demie Levado. Though they pick things up really
well because they could pick up several steps, they could
pick up five steps in a row, and their hits
move great and they can connected with their footwork. Everything
starts from the ground up. We're NFL players and like
I have a wrestling background, we're meat ats. You know,

(24:44):
It's just we don't we're not able to think that
far ahead, but we can.

Speaker 6 (24:48):
Get like that. It's pretty interesting. You think Derwin James,
I'll take her.

Speaker 2 (24:51):
Do you think I could take a Jonas brother?

Speaker 6 (24:54):
I think you would. Uh, you'd get choked out pretty fast.
But that's just me.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
Yeah, but the new one improved me right with the
stem cells. It I'm going after Joe Jonas. I don't
think he could take me. My best to your your wife,
thanks for joining us and save travels back for the
Veterans Day.

Speaker 6 (25:15):
I love you, man, love to see you doing better.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Thank you. It's Jay Glazier. He'll be back on Sunday,
Fox NFL Sunday the Veterans Day Parade. That's their biggest show.
And uh joining us from London.

Speaker 1 (25:27):

he was on the Rushmore podcast and Reggie was asked
the mount Rushmore of dunkers. He said, Michael Jordan, Vince Carter,

(25:52):
and Dominique Wilkins, and then came the fourth.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
One said the fourth is very difficult.

Speaker 6 (25:58):
It's very very difficult.

Speaker 9 (26:01):
I will go with I do like Okay, okay.

Speaker 2 (26:10):
Okay, NICs bringing Reggie Miller. Reggie, you'll be on the
call the Clippers and Oklahoma City coming up tonight.

Speaker 5 (26:18):
Okay, I said it, and Dick with it.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
No, you're not. You left out, doctor.

Speaker 5 (26:27):
J I said it, and change it right now.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
You panicked, Red, You don't panic.

Speaker 5 (26:42):
I didn't panic. I thought, first of all, we all
had to have come to a consensus. So that was
my list. Shack had an entirely. He had power dunkers
on his list to omit arguably the founding fall of
the dunk It's a slight omission from my end, but

(27:05):
I wasn't going my current events. Zach Lavine. In my opinion,
if you've seen some of our dunk contests over the
last ten plus years, he's right up there. Yes, Doctor
J should be in there, and arguably he was at
the end of the day, because all four of us
that had this roundtable discussion had to agree on the

(27:30):
top four. And yes, people, Doctor J did make the
mount rushmore of dunkers.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
Because I want to know what you do in a game.
There's a lot of guys who can dunk in a contest.
I don't care very true, because you know, if that's
the case, I'm taking Mac McClung.

Speaker 5 (27:50):
That's probably as bad as take as Zach Lavine.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
On my end, No, no, no, I'm going to take Mac
McClung over Zach Levine. The greatest dunkers between those two
well showmanship.

Speaker 5 (28:02):
Because if that's the case, you could put Aaron Gordon
in there as well. Because Aaron Gordon and Zach Lavine,
those two dunk contests between those two guys could have
been the best ever.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
I just want in game dunkers, Sean Kemp in game dunker,
Dominique in game dunker, Mike Vince Carter in game dunker,
Doctor J in game dunker.

Speaker 5 (28:25):
You can make a case for Zaquabne. We would have
to go on We would have to go on YouTube
for a few hours and try to find some of those,
but we could find a couple of them well.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
And then Shaq didn't like your take though on your
fourth dunker there, But.

Speaker 5 (28:44):
Again he was going with power dunkers Kenyan Martin. I mean,
he didn't sell he put himself in there. But this
is what I'm up again, going against the big fella.

Speaker 2 (28:55):
Okay, let me get to a serious topic here with
Yahn Morant, because this feels like this is there's no
turning back here. It feels like Jahn Moran's checked out. Now,
if you're Memphis, what do you do? Where do you
send him? Or do you see that maybe there's hope
that he reconnects and re engages here or is that

(29:15):
ship sum I.

Speaker 5 (29:19):
Believe the ship has sailed, and I think the only
way you're going to be able to turn course is
if you get a new coach in there, because if
they keep the current administration, jaw has checked out. I
didn't like the comments or the body language after that
Laker game, and listening to the comments last night after

(29:39):
the loss at home against Detroit, it was almost even worse.
Body language tells me everything, and just looking at it,
he has checked out. And you know, I look at
their roster. The oldest player on their roster is thirty

(30:00):
two year old Contavious Caldwell, Pope champion when he was
with Denver, and he's thirty two and he's still fairly young.
There is no one on that team to go to
John and say, dude, yeah, you got to get it together.
And I think that's been a theme over the last

(30:24):
five to ten years looking at some of these rosters
is not having veterans on them. I know this league
is getting younger, but to me, John needs someone pull
them aside, show him some clips. I mean, because this
is a bad look. And if you're Memphis, I think

(30:46):
you start filding calls unless you're going to fire your coach,
and then that's that's a bad precedent, right.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
But who wants John Moran?

Speaker 5 (30:56):
There are a lot of themes that would want John Moran.
Would you what what do you give up for him?

Speaker 2 (31:03):
Okay, if I'm the Hawks, what if what if the
Hawks said, We'll give you Tray Young for John Moran?

Speaker 5 (31:09):
I would seriously think about it.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
If I'm Memphis, I would do that in the second.

Speaker 5 (31:15):
If I'm If I'm the Hawks, I don't know if
I do that. Tray Young is a walking double double.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
Oh, I agree, I would. If I could get Trey
Young right now for John Morant.

Speaker 5 (31:28):
I would absolutely do it. If you're mid fit.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
Yeah, if I'm Atlanta, I probably wouldn't do it. But
I'm trying to think of other teams where you're gonna
go he'll fit in like he doesn't fit in. You
kind of have to fit in with him. It feels like.
And he's an unbelievable talent, But are you going to
send him to Detroit or Houston?

Speaker 5 (31:50):
I don't know he would. He would certainly have to
change the way he plays, and I don't think he can't. Theodore.
I love John Morant, but again, looking at that Laker
game and looking last night in that Detroit game, the
efforts not there, the hustle's not there, that the on

(32:12):
the court, showmanship that we're used to seeing from Jaw
is not there. He has lost his love for the game.
And once you do that, I don't know if you
can ever get that back in that situation. So what
a new lease on life, a new place, a new
destination that's is that going to clear things up? A

(32:32):
new coaching regime? Is that gonna switch it up again?
Both ways? If you ask for a trade or they
trade him, he wins. It sets a bad precedence. If
you fire the coach and it makes it look like
he's a coach killer, that sets a bad precedence. There's
gonna be no winners in this situation.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
Talking to Reggie Miller, Reggie will be on the call
with Terry Gannon and it'll be Oklahoma City bus. Is
Kawhi playing?

Speaker 5 (33:03):
I have no idea. I saw him tweak that ankle
with a little over two minutes left in that fourth quarter.
I looked at the Clippers have always taken, as you know,
a cautious approach. I don't even if he wouldn't have
rolled that ankle. You know, they usually don't play him
in back to backs, though he did come out this

(33:24):
summer and said he wanted to play back to backs,
and I think that's what they were gearing up for.
But after seeing that now again, he finished the game,
but it was only two minutes left in that fourth
quarter where they ended up losing by one last night
to the Heat, I don't think he will play because
they will take that caution approach because they need Kawai

(33:44):
come March April May. So I think they'll they'll take
the cautus approach and probably not play him. From a
selfish standpoint for NBC, yes, I would love for him
to play tonight, going against the defending champs who are undefeated,
but I just don't think they'll take that approach.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
Game time is eight pm Pacific on NBC and Peacock.
Is Kawhi's career a disappointment?

Speaker 5 (34:12):
No? Are you kidding me? Two rings, two finals MVP?
Are you that was a joke? Right? No?

Speaker 2 (34:21):
Because he couldn't he when he played, he was great.
But I think when I say Kawhi Leonard, people don't
talk about two rings and two finals MVPs. They talk
about a guy who had load management, almost the face
of load management.

Speaker 5 (34:37):
I will also say this, he believes on the all
time team with me the top seventy five team as well.
How could that ever be considered a disappointment? Well, by time,
you can win any chip, two finals, MVPs with two
different teams, well two different teams.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
But if I say his name that what comes up
is that how much he plays or doesn't play? First
bowel hall.

Speaker 5 (35:06):
Of Famer, this first ballot Hall of Famer and win
healthy when healthy and playing and engage which he is
come playoff time. Man, that dude is a tough out. Yeah,
I would say I would take that career. Please give
me that caller.

Speaker 2 (35:25):
No, you can still have a great career. But also
wonder what could Mike Trout is going to be a
first ballol Hall of Famer? So what if, right like
show be Kobe and Shack together? What if?

Speaker 5 (35:41):
What if?

Speaker 2 (35:43):
Great when they played? But what if? So you can
have those questions, but that what if?

Speaker 5 (35:50):
Those what if that you're saying for Kobe and Shack
they still have three rings together?

Speaker 2 (35:56):
They should have had six.

Speaker 5 (36:00):
They could have. I mean you could have made the
case the same thing for keeping the Bulls together for.

Speaker 2 (36:06):
One more year?

Speaker 5 (36:07):
Right for one more ye? Yeah? What what if?

Speaker 2 (36:17):
I also want to ask you about your did you
have a power forward?

Speaker 5 (36:21):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (36:21):
Your four power forwards for the amount Rushmore? Did you
have that?

Speaker 5 (36:25):
Is there? We did?

Speaker 2 (36:27):
Okay? Uh, Marvin, you want to set this up? Is
this the fourth power forward? Yes, Marvin, Yes.

Speaker 10 (36:34):
So Reggie and Shaq were on the Rushmore podcast, and
so Reggie's four Reggie's first three, excuse me, was Tim Duncan,
Karl Malone, and Kevin Garnett. And he says his fourth,
his fourth isn't shocking, but who he says could have
been one was a little surprising to me.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
All Right, play it.

Speaker 11 (36:51):
I'm gonna go with sir Charles. I easily could have
put Dennis Rodman in that list. I easily could have
done that on my Mount Rushmore.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
Okay, all right, do you have with Yeah, it's not bad.
I would have put here here.

Speaker 5 (37:13):
Here's here's the argument. Here's the argument that was going
on in the room. Because obviously Yanish probably can and
should be he could be on my list. Absolutely. I've
told people before, I told the basketball Godsmith, I've said
this perfectly. If I come back, if the basketball gods
could bless me with Janni's talent and my jump shot,

(37:35):
I would be the greatest player to have ever played
the game of basketball. Usually just give me Yannis and
my jump shot and then leave me alone. No one
would ever be able to touch me. So yes, he
could have been on my Mount Rushmore. But the argument
was going with because Ari Manuel, it's his podcast. He

(37:59):
was on with Chips. That's why Dennis Rodman entered the conversation.
And people are like, Dennis Rodmin is probably only the
grandest rebound. How could he? We're looking at total effects
on games. He changed series, so we started putting numbers
up like what did Charles avagsch Akinson? What did carl at?
Those numbers dropped because we're looking at the defensive side too,

(38:22):
So that's why Dennis Rodman I could say I could
easily slot them in there. But yes, the honest could be.
The honest was on a lot of other people's top
four and arguably should be. Again, give me his talent
in my jump shot and don't say anything else to me.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
I think Kevin McHale would be higher than Dennis Rodman.

Speaker 5 (38:47):
His name was highly disgusted. We agree with that. I
agree with you on that.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
Okay, I want to run this up the ladder at
Peacock and NBC the next round of interviews with Michael Jordan.
I would like for you to do the interview.

Speaker 5 (39:02):
Okay, how do you say that? Not that, It's like,
I would love to do it. And this is the premise.
We just both walk in a room and sit down
and rolling.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
No no exchange, no exchange.

Speaker 5 (39:20):
None of that, none of that. Walk in, sit down,
look at each other and just go whatever comes out
comes out.

Speaker 2 (39:30):
I love it that.

Speaker 5 (39:33):
Look. I want to do it. I'm low man on
the total pole over there at NBC right now we're
rolling out these features with the great Mike Tarico, who's
done a fabulous job interviewing MJ. But yes, I would
love to have a have an open dialogue to your

(39:54):
door with MJ. Because there's certain things I would love.

Speaker 2 (39:59):
To you, like, uh, you know, talk about revisit, revisit Okay,
I'd like to.

Speaker 5 (40:09):
Forget like I don't people act like I don't like MJ.
I love MJ. But when you go against a brother
for as many years as I did, you you built
up a certain disdain. Can you say that? Can I
say that you built up a certain tolerance and there

(40:30):
was always mutual respect. I'm trying to I'm carefully trying
to script my words here.

Speaker 2 (40:36):
You don't want it to get back to Mike, And
he said, what did you say?

Speaker 4 (40:39):
No?

Speaker 5 (40:40):
Good, Look, it's only going to get back to Mike.
Mike hears and sees everything. He'll always get back to him.
But I just want him to know how much I
do respect him. But let's just walk in a room
together and just talk.

Speaker 2 (40:53):
Phil Jackson. Phil Jackson has a book that's coming out
and it talks about the exchange that you and Mike
ad where you were talking trash to him, and then
I think Phil says, Mike scores like five or six
baskets in a row and saying, don't you ever don't
you ever talk bleep about me or to me again?

(41:13):
Is that true?

Speaker 5 (41:16):
Unfortunately, but you were willing.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
To stand up to Mike, and not many guys did.

Speaker 5 (41:28):
I had an unfiltered mouth, and maybe it was my
upbringing in a military family, being a military brat and
getting my butt beat by my older sister and older
brothers all the time. I had diary of the mouth.
And you, I just could not stop. And I didn't

(41:48):
care who you were or what your accomplishments were. I
felt I was always the best player, knowing I was
didn't know I wasn't, but you gotta have that belief.
And he look, he put the fear in a lot
of people. And trust me, there was times when I

(42:09):
was like this dude, but I didn't love him, respect him. Damn.
I also hated him too. I did.

Speaker 2 (42:19):
If he would have asked you to join the Bulls, would.

Speaker 5 (42:22):
You stop it? Stop it? Please stop that.

Speaker 2 (42:27):
Like later in your No.

Speaker 5 (42:30):
No, there's just no way. There's absolutely no way. And
I know people are gonna be like, well, yeah, that's
why you don't have any rings probably so it's true. Yeah,
well I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna. I'm not. I
can't do that. That goes against That goes against everything
I was taught from Magic and Michael Cooper, and that

(42:51):
goes against everything. If you can't beat him, you just
go in the corner and sit down, just go away.
Then if you get hey, that's it.

Speaker 2 (43:00):
What if Magic called you and said, if Magic said, hey,
would you.

Speaker 5 (43:03):
Like to story?

Speaker 2 (43:09):
Now that's different. I'm playing for the Lakers.

Speaker 5 (43:14):
Different the Lakers twice a year.

Speaker 2 (43:17):
All right, I'm running this up the flagpole at NBC
the next time that Tarico's gonna sit down. Mike comes
in and then Tarico goes, hey, uh, I gotta go.
Reggie's going to do the interview.

Speaker 5 (43:33):
Oh my god, the fireworks. Some of the things that
would be said, you will understand, like Mike and I
and our good friend Jack Hayley, God rest his soul,
who's looking down on us smiling. We hope like we
used to be locked in a room playing TNK, talking
shit and just talking basketball. And there were some things

(43:56):
that were said in the In these it was trust me,
just have him walk in, Have me walk in and
just sit down so I won't look at him.

Speaker 2 (44:08):
Do you need to bring the Davis brothers with you if.

Speaker 5 (44:11):
You walk in, Well, he's gonna bring him.

Speaker 2 (44:15):
If he brings Oak, he's bringing I'm bringing down.

Speaker 5 (44:19):
All right, we'll let the muscle handle each other out
and then he and I can handle our business.

Speaker 2 (44:25):
Reggie will be on the call with Terry a Gin
and tonight the Clippers maybe with Kawhi against OKC eight
pm Pacific on NBC and Peacock. Thank you, Regg, talk
to you later.

Speaker 5 (44:37):
Well. You are truly the best. Love you, Dan
