Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
It's our one on this program. Come on in stay
a while. The NFL trade deadline a little later on
this afternoon. Cowboys did make a deal with the Bengals.
We'll talk about that coming up. Jay Glazer will stop
my on loan from Fox Sports. Reggie Miller talks about
the Jah Morant situation in Memphis and it's not good.

(00:25):
Stat of the Day brought to you by Penai America.
The official trading cards of the program. First Hour brought
to you by tire rack dot Com. The way tire
buying should be ship fast and free back by free
road hazard Protection. They've been doing it for over forty years.
Tire rack dot Com Play the Daypole Question, stat of
the Day, all of that forthcoming. So the Cowboys and

(00:47):
the Cardinals. I mentioned this yesterday. I'm always keeping an
eye on the betting lines, and I'm always curious about
some and I was curious that the Cowboys at home,
with this high powered offense facing a Cardinal team that
didn't have Kyler Murray and they were only favored by
three and a half. I thought maybe they'd be favored

(01:07):
by five and all of a sudden, the Cardinals win
it outright, Jacoby Brissett, come on down and stay awhile,
because you're a better quarterback for this team than Kyler
Murray is both teams with three wins. But the Cowboys
picked up Logan Wilson, a linebacker from the Bengals. He
has to be traded. I think in the offseason. This

(01:28):
isn't a surprise. But if you're picking up defenders from
a defense that is as bad, if not worse than yours,
is Trey Hendrickson going to be traded as well later today.
But we'll talk to Jay Glazer coming up. And I'm
looking at the numbers with Jacoby Brissett. I think he's
played for five different teams, maybe six different teams. He

(01:50):
is better with this offense than Kyler Murray. Now you
can say Kyler Murray's more talented. Jacoby Brissett's not going
to argue with that. But this is the I was
listening to Chris Canty, former player on The mother Ship
this morning, and Chris brought up something interesting, and that
is when you have a quarterback who stays in the
pocket as a wide receiver, you know where your quarterback is.

(02:13):
Jacoby Brissett is athletic, but he does stay in the pocket.
Kyler Murray does not. Therefore, you see these receivers. Marvin
Harrison Junior, the third, looked great last night. He looked
like he's supposed to look. And I'm going by what
Chris Canty, a former defensive lineman, said, is as a receiver,
you can run your route and you know where the

(02:34):
ball is coming from. You know it's going to be
in the pocket for the most part. With Kyler, you're
on the run. So as a wide receiver, am I
gonna get it where He's on the right side of
the field and I'm on the left side. Do I
have to go from left to right to go over
where he is? And you see this, I think with
the timing, everything about these past patterns is timing. It's

(02:56):
so quick, get it out. I know where it's going.
As a white receiver, I know where you're going to
be and you saw that that was on display last night.
He is averaging two hundred and eighty seven yards per game,
two touchdowns, and they're scoring at over twenty five points
per game. With Kyler Murray it's ninety yards less a

(03:17):
little over one touchdown per game and they're scoring five
points less. The numbers don't lie here. Now, I know
you've got to say all the right things because you've
got a quarterback who's making a lot of money. Here,
here's Jonathan Gannon, the Cardinals head coach, on the performances
from week to week.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
They feel good, but they know it's a week to
week deal, you know what I mean, Cam, It really is.
So I'm proud of them for the response coming out
of the buy because they came to work this week
and they always come to work, but it was in
tenfold and it was energized and they knew we ata
could play well on Monday night football to beat a

(03:57):
team that's, you know, super dangerous, good football team. But
they know when they wake up tomorrow we're going to
go play a good football team again.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
On the road, Marvin Harrison had a career high seven
catches ninety six yards and a touchdown, and Jacoby Brissett
had a couple of touchdown passes he ran for another score.
He is one of six active quarterbacks with wins as
his starter with at least five different teams. Joe Flacco,
case Keenum, Jacoby Brissett, Tyrod Taylor, Andy Dalton, and Carson Wentz.

(04:36):
Stat of Today brought to you by Penny America, the
official trading cards of The Dan Patrick Show. So, if
you're going to get a defender off the Bengals, and
the Bengals have a terrible defense. Since the start of
last season, the Cowboys are allowing thirty one point three
points per game at home over that span. Only the
Bengals at thirty one point six have allowed more. But

(04:59):
maybe Trey Hadckson gets out of Cincinnati, you know, at
age thirty, and he's got that one year deal. They
took a long time to get that one year deal
for him. I am sure that he'll be the object
of desire getting an edge rusher here. We always talk
about the trade deadline. Who could be traded, who's buying,
who's selling? Are the Dolphins going to be selling? Are

(05:22):
they going to sell Minka Fitzpatrick? Are they going to
get rid of Jalen Waddle? What are you saying if
you do all of those things? Also, keep in mind
they got rid of their GM. You don't get rid
of your GM prior to the trade deadline. Unless he
didn't want to go with the plan. Chris Greer got fired,
he's the GM, the head coach kept his job. Now,

(05:44):
I'm guessing I don't have any information, but I'll ask
Jay Glazer. Management probably said to Greer, Hey, all these
players that you brought in, we want to take the
wrecking ball to this team. And Greer probably thought, no, No,
I don't want to do that. These are my players.
We brought him in. We can still win. And they

(06:04):
probably said, well, it's either you or the players, and
it could be both. Because Career got fired. Mike McDaniel
kept his job and they're going to keep him on
till the end of the regular season, but he'll be
gone after that because if you bring in a new GM,
he's gonna won his coach. So Miami's already gotten rid

(06:25):
of one of their edge rushers. Does Bradley Chubb get
traded today as well? You start to look at who
needs something. Everybody wants an edge rusher and everybody wants
a wide receiver. There's only so many of those players
to go around. What are you willing to give up
to the Saints for Chris o'lave or Jaylen Waddle? Can
you get those guys for a second round draft pick?

(06:46):
Can you get Trey Hendrickson for a second or third
round draft pick? And that's really the chess game that's
going on now as we speak. But Jerry Jones, you know,
Jerry is really, really, really good as an owner from
the standpoint of he sells his team better than any
other owner in sports when you think about it. He
keeps his team in the news. So what's he do yesterday?

(07:09):
He's got first take there, he has Stephen A. Smith
sitting in the suite with him. They announce a hockey game,
They got the commissioner of the NHL. He teases that
they have a trade in place. All of these things.
All you're doing is getting attention.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Now.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
Granted, he leads the league in attention attention, but he's
last in the league really and the results from all
that attention, And here you are with a team that
is in a division now with Washington without their starting quarterback,
the Giants are more competitive, the Eagles aren't as formidable.

(07:48):
And you wonder if they had handled Micah Parsons situation better,
would they be a better team. And I'll argue this,
sometimes when you trade your best player and then the
locker room goes, we just traded our best player, like
we're all expendable and there's no loyalty and all of

(08:10):
a sudden because I don't know if the locker room
ever recovered from that. And I do think they would
have been a playoff contender with Michael Parsons. I do
believe that because he would have made those defensive backs better.
I mean, I don't know how much better, but it's
a bad defense, historically bad defense. And Jerry got petty,

(08:32):
got petulant with this, and hey, I'm going to show you.
I just wonder what message you send to your team
after something like that. You walk in and you go,
I'll be damn just like we reacted. And we're not
even in the locker room. Man, they traded my Caparsons.
And then I wonder, okay, what is the philosophy. Hey,
we're going to stop the run. No you're not. You're

(08:56):
not stopping anybody here. And now you're saying to Dak Prescott,
go out there and score as many points as you can,
and that might not be enough, because you know what, guys,
you're kind of like the Bengals, and if you're the
Cowboys and you're being attached to the Bengals. That's not
a good situation, certainly not in the last couple of years.

Good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, thank you for
downloading the app. We got operator Tyler sitting by. He'll
take your phone calls. Play of the Day will be
a little bit later on as well. We'll recap some
of the basketball. The situation with the Memphis Grizzlies. We'll
talk about that coming up in ten minutes. It's bad.

(09:38):
It's a bad situation for Memphis, and they were the
number two seed a couple of years ago, and you
thought about, look at the potential that you have here,
and now, who's going to want John Morant? You owe
him eighty seven million dollars the next two years. This
isn't about trouble off the court. This is trouble on

(10:01):
the court. Lower minutes, he seems disenfranchised. He doesn't, I
don't know, doesn't seem like he's on the court. When
he's on the court, he's not the focal point. And
you're why, you know you're not going to build around him.
He's not mature enough to build around, but he's still
an extremely talented player. It's just who's gonna want him?

(10:27):
And what are you going to give up to get
John Moran? Because if I'm Memphis, move on, move on.
You took a chance, you took a couple of chances.
Move on, and then maybe you can salvage something here.
But that it's a shame. I was watching highlights yesterday
of Jah. There's nobody more exciting when he's on. There's

(10:50):
nobody more exciting, and that's a shame. But if you're Memphis,
what can you get for him? And some players have
you know? Draymond Green had some thoughts on this. We'll
have some of his comments coming up. But uh, seton
let's poll question from the first hour of the program. Well,
we got a couple options here for you. Uh whose

(11:12):
career would.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
You want going forward? John Morant or Kyler Murray? One
one from PAULI.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Yeah, because we did ask this question a couple of
years ago. Whose career would you want? Ja Moran or
Zion Williamson. And just like Zion's weight, it fluctuated. That's
not necessary, I said, Jahn Morant because I thought he's
always going to be great on the floor. Zion, I'd

(11:40):
still take John Morant. I don't know what to expect
out of Zion Williamson, but I do think John Morant
is a better player, more talented player, plays more games.
But John's been nicked up too here in the last
couple of years, then gets suspended as well. Okay, So
would I rather be John Moran or Kyler Murray. I'm

(12:06):
gonna say John Morand because he'll go to a new
team and then he might fall in line. I don't
know if Kyler Murray can play at a consistently high level.
He's not better than Jacoby Brisett Brissette for this team.
He's just not. He's more talented, and there's a big
difference in that. There are a lot of quarterbacks who

(12:26):
are more talented than Tom Brady. But Tom Brady's the
guy you wanted, yes eaton. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
That's the thing that kind of separates it from me.
Is John Morant, you know, can play at an incredibly
high level.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
Kyler Murray, I don't know if you know that. If
he can.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
Play at a high level in the NFL, I.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Think he had a couple of seasons ago, weren't they
like eight and one or something like that, Like they
got off to a really good start. But he's made
the playoffs at once, and they don't have any playoff wins.
But I kept wondering. I thought Marvin Harrison was gonna
be one hundred catches yards, twelve touchdowns. I just thought that,
you know, can't go wrong, like that guy's so good.

(13:06):
And then all of a sudden, you get Jakobe Brissett
in there, and Marvin Harrison's looking like his dad. Yes,
Pauline Kyler.

Speaker 5 (13:13):
Murray's two best seasons were his second and third seasons
twenty twenty and twenty twenty one, twenty six touchdowns, twenty
four touchdowns, Pro Bowls, made one playoffs in twenty twenty one.
Since then, it's just it's cooled. Like last year, seventeen starts,
eight and nine as a starter, Yeah, thirty eight hundred yards,
twenty one touchdowns, eleven picks. Yeah, it's it's solid, it's

(13:36):
non threatening. He's about to turn twenty nine.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
What team is in better shape? And the Cardinals are
the Cowboys? Yeah.

Speaker 5 (13:49):
The Cardinals have made the postseason four times in thirty years.

Speaker 6 (13:53):
That's rough.

Speaker 5 (13:54):
Yeah, the Cowboys at least make the postseason appear there.

Speaker 6 (13:59):
I think they made twelve in the past.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
Thirty Yeah, and then it usually ends horribly yeah, like
a home loss in the playoffs. The Cardinals don't give
you any hope. Coways give you a little hope. And
they're in a really tough division. Seattle's good Niners are good.
Rams are really good. And you know, can you get
to seven wins? Six wins? If you're the head coach

(14:20):
of the Cardinals and your future is going to be
attached to your one loss record, you're going to stay
with Jacoby Brissette. Now, I know he said all the
right things. Hey, when Kyler comes back, he's going to
be our quarterback. And maybe there is something there. I
just know watching Jacoby Brissett. He knows how to play
the position. And if I'm a wide receiver, it's nice

(14:42):
having that quarterback who can run around and extend plays.
But you ask receivers, they want to know where is
the ball coming from? Where is my quarterback? Not I'm
going to run my route? Wait, where is he? These
guys know Jacoby Brissett is not going to do anything fancy.
He's not going to extend plays like some of the

(15:03):
younger quarterbacks. He's going to get the ball out to you,
and he did that last night. And it's really very simple,
a simplistic approach, and that's what you want out of
a veteran quarterback. The younger quarterbacks, they're still living off
the fumes of their success in college. Hey, I can
extend a play and bad things usually happen. All right,

(15:24):
we'll settle on a poll question college football. The committee
will have the first rankings coming up later on tonight.
Also dive into the Jah morant where could he end up?
And you'll hear from Draymond Green, who, of course gives
his opinion on that as well. We're back after this
Tuesday edition Dan Patrick's Show.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
Play the day coming up. Get to your phone calls
as well. Gotta be honest. I didn't get to see
the game last night, just the highlights because the YouTube
ESPN dispute and I saw where jj Watt was tweeting like,
I can't get another subscription here, this is crazy. But
I just got to see the highlights. I was actually

(16:45):
following along on my phone. Oh yeah, I was watching
Arizona basketball Arizona and Florida. While I'm following along on
my phone. And by the way, this Pete kid at Arizona,
who oh wow? He was awesome last night. And it
was one of those where I go, wait, is this
an exhibition game? Like Michigan State in Connecticut? And I

(17:08):
realized the regular season started in college basketball. I was
also watching Saint John's in Quinnipiac. Yeah, I live the life. Yes, Marvin, he.

Speaker 6 (17:18):
Was watching grown men with Saint John's.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
How old are some of those guys on Saint John's.
I went to high school with a couple of them.
They look like they're in their late twenties. That front
line looks like they're in their late twenties. Yes, Paulie,
if you had to.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
Miss a Mondon that football game due to this dispute,
that's the one to mess Dan. You are fine, you
might have done better last night.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
Jason in Colorado Springs, Hi, Jason, went's on your mind today?

Speaker 8 (17:42):
Hey?

Speaker 9 (17:43):
Dan? Six foot two twenty Yeah. I was actually just
you know, you just brought it up. I was calling
about the ESPN YouTube thing and how they kind of
like ruined the weekend for everybody. We could have watched
college football, couldn't watch the game last night, and I
think maybe we've reached that saturation point. I actually didn't

(18:04):
mind missing last night's games because I had I watched,
you know, all day Sunday with the Sunday ticket probably
not that's with the red zone, and then I had
the Thursday night game. So last night it was kind
of like, yeah, you know, I guess I have had
my feel. I'm not willing to spend another thirty dollars
just to get ESPN Plus or whatever.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
Yeah, I know, but until a game comes along, where
you go, I want to watch that yeah, Pauline.

Speaker 6 (18:31):
This is really going to bum you out.

Speaker 5 (18:32):
Then, Dan and those people who do not have ESPN
or ESPN two tonight, maction is back U Mass versus
Akron on eight U Mass versus Akron Miami of Ohio
at Ohio and then two more games Tomorrow night, two
more games Thursday night. Lots of action and it's back.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
Now it hurts now, it hurts. Yeah, now that hurts
me a little.

Speaker 6 (18:54):
This should cause it to end. People missing it.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
Yeah, all I know is I got the ES personalities
coming on and I don't know what they're telling me
because I can't do anything, but they're telling me how
to help end this dispute. Am I supposed to contact
YouTube and blame them? Is there a go fun to
meet page? Ken McAfee. Can he figure it out? He's

(19:16):
hand it out money all the time. Can he figure
this out? Get coach Saban in there? Can he figure
it out? Tyler in Arkansas? Hi Tyler? What's on your mind? Tyler?
Tyler must have been a YouTube called there Chris and Syracuse.

(19:40):
Hi Chris, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 8 (19:42):
Hey? Thanks?

Speaker 10 (19:42):
Anny? I wanted to comment on the Cowboys game and
you were talking about John Morant. I'm pretty sure Zion,
John Morant and RJ. Barrett all want one, two three
in the draft one year, and all the med there
have had their issues, all for different reasons. And yeah,
last night, wide receiver George Pickens ca continues to have
to celebrate after every catch, and you know, with the

(20:03):
Cowboys in a hurry up offense down ten late, he
picks up a taunting penalty. And I don't think the
Cowboys were going to come back and win that game,
but that taunting calls certainly helped seal their faith. And Dan,
after watching the NFL quarterback play for about nine ten years,
you usually have a pretty good handle on how good
he is at Dak prestop. Dak Prescott, at least to me,

(20:25):
is an enigma. I mean, I don't know. I know
he's paid as an elite quarterback, but I don't know
if he's elite good. And sometimes he looks very pedestrian.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
Yeah, I still think he can be a very good
quarterback and he has played really well this season. George
Pickens is just that's who he is. You don't have
to celebrate every time. You don't. In fact, it's refreshing
when somebody goes, I supposed to do this. They paid
me a lot of money to do this instead of

(20:54):
I got a first down. And this might have started
with Michael Irvin because it felt like Irv whenever he
got a first down, even at the U, it was
a big deal. You were going to know that forty
seven just had a big play at the U, and
then he got to the Cowboys and he did the
same thing. But it doesn't have to be every play

(21:15):
that's celebratory, and especially when you're in a hurry up
offense and you're celebrating and you're taunting somebody.

Speaker 5 (21:21):
Yes, paint one thing about the George Pickens penalty last night.
It was unclear he held the ball out and I
can't tell whether he was trying to hand it to
an official in front of him or put it in
front of the face of the defensive back. He just
burnt the official thought he did the latter, but it's
it's unclear.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
But he's got priors, so I would lean towards he
is taunting the defender. Here's Dak Prescott talking about the
Cowboys season.

Speaker 11 (21:45):
So frustrating because I'm not just going to accept that, oh,
this team is inconsistent. This team is just up and down,
like we're going to be as long as we ride
the wave of you know, the media and you know,
going from one game to the next and not putting
the blame on you guys. But you know, we win
a game and we feel really good about ourselves, and
you think you're just going to go in the next
next week and smack that opponent, and you don't. Then

(22:06):
you know, you feel upset and you look in the
mirror and you come back and you give a better performance.
You know, that's what's been happening this year other than tonight.
And so when you've put two bad games or two
ugly losses back to back, you gotta finanswers.

Speaker 2 (22:22):
Did dak just realize that they get a whole lot
of attention in Dallas. You're supposed to. You're on display.
It goes with the territory. When you're the quarterback of
the Cowboys, it's one of the most important roles in
all the sports. You get too much credit and too
much blame and too much money. But you know you're

(22:45):
at home. You're at home, and you still have your
offense and you didn't score against the Cardinals. That was
the surprising part of it. I mean, if you look
at the defense, that's actually a good game for the defense.
You get a touchdown on a block punt. That's what
was surprising. I didn't see that great offense or the

(23:07):
potential there for that great offense that we've seen before.
Eric in Green Bay, Good morning, Eric.

Speaker 12 (23:16):
Eric, Good morning guys. Happy to be on with you again.
I don't want to cut in on Shane Irvings airtime today,
so I'll get right to the point to me. Now,
NFL seasons complete without a team having that treaded players
only meeting. I think that's happened once before, and maybe
there'll be one in Dallas today. Dan, you're you're a
head coach of sorts of the show. You try to
get the most out of your guys. Every day's the

(23:38):
Super Bowl there, right?

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 12 (23:39):
I had a question for the show. Has there ever
been a danets only meeting or a brg's only meeting
in tough times? And if there ever has been one,
or it would be one in the future, what would
the most likely topic be?

Speaker 2 (23:51):
All right, well, thank you, Eric, Has there been a
Dan Netz only meeting with this group?

Speaker 6 (24:00):
PAULI with the overhang of this is a serious meeting. Yes,
I don't think so.

Speaker 4 (24:08):
I don't think so.

Speaker 5 (24:09):
We've had chats before on issues, but they were like
a two minute thing. Okay, I don't think we've had
like we should have a chat.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
Get the group together to all talk about this.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
Let's wait till Dan leaves.

Speaker 6 (24:19):
Yeah, I don't think so.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
Okay, I don't know about the back room guys. They're sneaky, yes, Marvin.

Speaker 7 (24:26):
Their meetings are at casinos that they have them, but.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
Yeah, they're not about to show they have me has
nothing to do with being better at your job.

Speaker 6 (24:36):
They don't remember their meetings.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
Shane and Irving joining us on the program. Shaye, what
did you make of last night?

Speaker 13 (24:44):
Aberflus is not an elite defensive mind. People got to
stop saying that he had a couple of good years
with really good players and Schottenheimer not kicking the field
goal on fourth and four. It's the dumbest decision he's made,
besides taking damn job in the first place.

Speaker 2 (25:03):
I was surprised that they didn't score a lot of
points against Arizona at home.

Speaker 13 (25:09):
Not a great secondary either, Danny, Arizona's defensive secondary ate
that good And the only good thing that came out
of last night is people can finally stop pretending this
is a real team, a serious team. It's a joke
of a team run by a joke of a man
who'd rather gossipon to ESPN than win damn football games.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
You're right about that that he was with Steven A
and he's teasing that they got a trade coming up,
and it just it felt like he's a showman. He is.

Speaker 13 (25:40):
He's ruined my life.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
Well, no, you've ruined your life, but both of us.

Speaker 13 (25:45):
Have ruined my life. It is a fifty to fifty relationship.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
I think you're doing better than the Cowboys, and that's
saying a whole lot so depressed.

Speaker 4 (25:56):
Yes, I was going to ask Shay one of our
whole questions if we had Oh yeah, sure, Shay, which
team is in better shape right now? The Cardinals are
the Cowboys?

Speaker 13 (26:06):
The Cardinals obviously?

Speaker 2 (26:12):
Ill Uh.

Speaker 4 (26:13):
It feels so insulting to even be asked that question.
As a Cowboys I'd be so pissed.

Speaker 2 (26:20):
All right, I'll talk to you this week in the
Gambling Podcast. Whatever do whatever, dud. That's Shay and Irving
Gambling Podcast on Thursday, Danpatrick dot com, Jason and Nebraska.
Hi Jason, what's on your mind? Warning?

Speaker 14 (26:38):
Guys, I just wanted to give a plug for the
old school antenna if you're struggling to get the game.
The game was simulcast on ABC last night. Dan, So
about twenty dollars on Amazon gets you an antenna. But
I was curious. You know that they're pushing all these
person all the ESN personalities to you mentioned it, to
post on their social channels, to call and complain, and

(27:00):
it's thriving me nuts because I think we all know
who the real villain is here and it's not YouTube.
But I was curious, you know, when you were with
ESPN or just at any point, were you ever one
of those personalities that was asked to do, you know,
on behalf of the network, call your your network and complain.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
No. No, we were asked to do something that had
to do with Congress. I don't know what was happening
in front of Congress and we were asked to do
a video, I believe, but I don't even know what.
I can't even remember. So the game was on ABC
and I'm sitting there. I didn't. I didn't. That's mean you.

Speaker 5 (27:37):
Have to run out to like radio shack and get
an antenna and like put it on your roof. Old school.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
Oh okay, now Zach and Knoxville, Hey, Zach.

Speaker 15 (27:48):
Adp That last collar kind of talks about what I
was going to say. You can get an antenna. It
just goes right in the back of your TV. You
can get ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox, and you can
get the CW for the college games. But there was
a caller a couple of weeks ago that said Kyler
Murray wasn't a starting quarterback guy.

Speaker 14 (28:10):
I was pretty smart.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
I think his name was Zach Knoxville.

Speaker 15 (28:14):
But I want to know, do you think that he
will get a jaw a starting job elsewhere or do
you see him as like a Lamar Jackson or a
scrambling quarterbacks backup going forward?

Speaker 2 (28:26):
It's a lot of money, and he's got weapons. He's
got a really good tight end and the potential for
a really good wide receiver or two. But once again,
if they put a clause in your contract that says
you got to study, that's a red flag. So I

(28:49):
don't It's got to be important. It's got to be
important to you. And we've talked about this, and this
has nothing to do with the situation I had with
him at the Super Bowl years ago, because we moved
past that. He came on the show. We kind of
laughed about it. It's about there are athletes who are
just better than everybody until they're not better than everybody,

(29:13):
and then that's when you become either you're going to
be great or you're going to be kind of average.
You know, Michael Jordan had more talent than anybody, but
he studied the game. Kobe, he studied the game, and
that's the difference with a lot of these athletes. You
get to a certain level and it's been easy for you.

(29:35):
It was easy for Kyler Murray. He wasn't losing games
in high school. You know, it goes to college and
is great, and then all of a sudden, you go
to the NFL and you're like Michael Vick, same way.
And Michael has been on the show and we talked
about it. He was so talented that you just think
your talent can help you get by, and after a

(29:57):
while it can't, and you got to put in the time,
and that's where that's a difference maker. Jakobe Brissett should
not be better than Kyler Murray, but he is for
this team, Yeah, Pauling.

Speaker 5 (30:11):
Kyler Murray is under contract this year for over forty million.
He's under contract next year with the Cardinals for about
fifty three million dollars. And there's no way out of that.
There's a possible way out. In twenty twenty seven. I
had one thought about Kyler Murray. I wonder when he
turns thirty and if he's destined to be a backup
bouncing around and he's got two hundred and forty million

(30:32):
in the bank, does he try baseball at age thirty?
There could be interest. I'm just saying, like, if you
have two fifty in the bank and you're relegated to
being Colt McCoy with speed, do you say I'll go
try baseball. I don't have the a's own his rights
or anything.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
Yeah, I don't know if it's in perpetuity. I don't
know how that works to be.

Speaker 6 (30:56):
In Las Vegas right by then? Yeah, I just thought
I thought of us a guy like him. You never know.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
Yeah, but this isn't it.

Speaker 6 (31:04):
And again it's a wild card.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
Yeah, and he was a better baseball player than Michael
Jordan but that'll be sort of the analogy of you know,
Kenny play baseball at age thirty, he was going to
be a top ten baseball pick. The A's were taking
him in the top ten, or they did take him
in the top ten. I don't know. Like, once again,
I don't know what motivates but you got two more

(31:31):
years of that. I hope something motivates him. I hope
he shows that he can be a Lamar Jackson kind
of quarterback or a Josh Allen kind of quarterback. But
his name is never mentioned as an elite quarterback. And
if if you put talent, if you had a combine
for talent with quarterbacks, Kyler Murray's doing really well, doing

(31:54):
really well. Brandon in South Carolina, Hey Brandon, what's on
your on then? How you doing good?

Speaker 13 (32:02):
Shake one a lean to tin.

Speaker 16 (32:06):
I just wanted to, you know, complain about the YouTube
TV nonsense and the fact that I have the NFL
package provided by YouTube TV, still couldn't watch the game.
Then I had ESPN Plus, so I thought, you know,
I'll jump on over to there. Well, you can't watch
that without ESPN.

Speaker 13 (32:21):
So your hands are tied.

Speaker 8 (32:24):
You know, the people are screwed just give us what
we want.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
Yeah, I don't what are they fighting when they're fighting
over money? I'm sure I don't even know what the
dispute is with ESPN and YouTube but you know, the
fan is always caught caught in between. But I don't
need Greeney or steven A to tell me about pick
ESPN or be on our side or whatever this is. Uh,

(32:47):
I'm not picking sides. Just give me the damn game,
that's all. You're already making me work to get Amazon
an Amazon Prime Thursday night. Yes.

Speaker 5 (32:59):
So the argument is YouTube TV isn't willing to pay
the market rate to have ESPN on their platform. They
want a better deal to have ESPN on YouTube TV.

Speaker 6 (33:09):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
Okay. Any timeframe for this getting solved out?

Speaker 5 (33:19):
Okay, Well, there's a lot of pressure usually these things
are they go full blast on a Thursday Friday, right
before a big weekend of football, and then it gets
settled Friday night at eleven pm.

Speaker 2 (33:29):
Okay, but how do you complain like how you know?
You said there's pressure, but how are people applying the
pressure other than hey, we're angry and what.

Speaker 5 (33:39):
It appeared that ESPN was using their talent to shift
the blame to YouTube TV all weekend like they're the issue.

Speaker 6 (33:45):
I have no dog in this fight.

Speaker 5 (33:47):
But that's where they're having all their talent tweet out
similar things and say certain things.

Speaker 2 (33:51):
Okay, but once again, how does it get rectified if
it's still YouTube and ESPN arguing over this. We don't
have a say in this, do we no?

Speaker 6 (34:00):
But like a show like ours can illuminate it, I guess.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
Yeah, but it doesn't change. What does it change? Nobody's
gonna show up at you know, somebody's door. Yeah, seton.

Speaker 4 (34:09):
Yeah, I mean, like disputes like this aren't new, it's
just the latest one. They happen all the time where
uh you know, even like say direct TV. It's like
ABC and Direct TV are having a dispute. That's why
you can't watch this show. Yeah, it happens all the time.
Their carriage disputes, I think is what it's called. But
but I don't know who I'm protesting for or against?

Speaker 2 (34:31):
Yes, Todd And eventually you'll get that message. Great news,
we've come to an agreement. Like all you know, everyone's
we all love you now again? Thanks for Okay, are
we picking sides here?

Speaker 5 (34:39):
We got to pick a team you know what have
helped If it was Bill's Chiefs last night and America
misted it.

Speaker 2 (34:46):
What is next Monday nights game? You know, let me
take a break. Let me take a break here. I'm
gonna have to get all my information here. Maybe a
smart person who's is Andrew Marshawan. Is he available? Maybe
reach out to him. He covers this stuff a carriage dispute.
All right.

Speaker 1 (35:06):

Speaker 9 (35:24):
Got it.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
This is the play of the day.

Speaker 8 (35:29):
Check this out.

Speaker 17 (35:30):
Perssette takes the snap play fake looks over the middle,
pros wide open.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
Harrison caught for a touchdown.

Speaker 17 (35:36):
What a first half for Jacoby Brissett and Marvin Harrison Junior.
They've made it look easy on that drive and on
that touchdown pass nine nothing Cardinals.

Speaker 2 (35:46):
He to see the Cardinals radio network. An incredible move
by Marvin Harrison Junior. Like you're in a phone booth there,
you're in tight quarters and you you leave that and
that's hard to do right there at that moment, and
he did play. The day brought to you by Maco.
Maco wants to send you to Super Week and also

(36:09):
get your car painted and so much more. Go to
Dan Patrick dot com Enter Daily for a chance to win.
Get official rules. But you can join us and watch
us do a show in San Francisco. No purchase necessary.
Void in Alaska and Hawaii where prohibited have to be
at least eighteen Ends eleven, twenty three, twenty five. All right,

(36:31):
PAULI has a morale question morale topic.

Speaker 5 (36:37):
Well, I kind of through out there for a little
bit ago, but maction is back.

Speaker 2 (36:41):
Oh oh, that's the morale boost.

Speaker 6 (36:44):
That was the morale boost. So there's that void.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
Yeah, but I can't watch. It'll work it out with YouTube.

Speaker 5 (36:50):
There is a way for you to watch ESPN and
get around the system. There is, yeah, maybe a little
the poor taste a little.

Speaker 6 (36:56):
You'll find it.

Speaker 4 (36:58):
If you just like, like, I have different package from
a different streaming service and ESPN Plus comes with that.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
So YouTube isn't the only way you could get it.

Speaker 6 (37:07):
You just have to spend a little bit here and there.

Speaker 2 (37:09):
No, no, no, no, no, I'm not no I'm not
spending No, no.

Speaker 6 (37:13):
I'll give you a code. Oh I loan your code.
I just commit a crime. I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (37:20):
Yeah, maybe, But you know when I found myself, I
just said, you know, screw it. If I can't watch
a certain game, then I'm just going to find something
I want to watch.

Speaker 5 (37:29):
Right, Like, you're a college football fan that has you
like all the teams, you like, whatever the game is
that's on. But I think a lot of people missed off,
missed out on college football this weekend with the YouTube
ESPN thing a lot.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
Yeah, I know, once again we're helpless here. I just
don't know, if you know, when Greeney tells me that
be on the SPN side or steven A, I don't
know what that means. I don't know how I can
help the situation here. I just want to get YouTube back.
That's not asking too much much, is it? Aaron in

(38:02):
Fort Wayne, hi eron what's on your mind?

Speaker 8 (38:06):
Hey Dan, there's a ton of finger pointing going on
with this controversy, but I think it's getting all confused.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
And thank you for taking my call.

Speaker 8 (38:15):
Because YouTube had an agreement with Disney, a licensing agreement,
and right in the middle of it. They wanted to
really raise that licensing agreement up. And you know, Disney's
been losing a lot of money, but they just kind
of want to turn their sits to YouTube. And they're
looking at the customers, going, yeah, your customers like watching
those games a lot on ESPN. So they're trying to

(38:37):
squeeze those lemons.

Speaker 7 (38:38):
Mm.

Speaker 2 (38:39):
Okay, squeezing lemons now? Is it Green Bay? Philadelphia? Next
Monday Night on the mother Ship? Okay, don't want to
get the packer fans up. So stat of the Day
brought to you by Panini America, the official trading cards
of the Dan Patrick Show. We'll have more on this
dispute come up top of the Hour. Got an expert

(39:02):
who's going to join us and tell us what's going on.
How I can watch my sports now, I could always
come into the man cave. I think we have direct
TV in here because the big germans like, we'll just
come in and watch here. Well, kind of hard to
you know. I'm sitting downstairs by myself having a cigar
some tequila. I don't want to be doing that.

Speaker 6 (39:25):
Yeah, it's like paradise.

Speaker 2 (39:28):
Yeah, but then I don't want to drive home. Then
I have to sleep here. Yeah, I got smoking here anyway?
Are you are you asking me not.

Speaker 4 (39:38):
To well, I mean I don't. I don't really see
sitting around here smoking a bunch of cigars and then
everybody coming in on a Wednesday more.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
Yeah, but it could be you.

Speaker 4 (39:46):
And like what if the Yerman shows up and then
all of a sudden he's hanging out and then he's
got one going and then you know, well we have
watched outside when we have our viewing party in Chili Chi.

Speaker 2 (39:57):
I know. But I'll build a fire and bring a blanket,
and you know, maybe my wife comes over and keeps
me company. Oh yes, she can build the fire. Yes,
she'll split the wood. That's what it is. Yes, just
split the wood. You'll roll the newspaper. Yeah, yeah, I'll
light it. Had the flu closed yesterday? Oh oh it's

(40:21):
so bad. It was so bad.

Speaker 6 (40:23):
First fire of the season.

Speaker 2 (40:24):
Yes, yes, yes, And my wife goes, hey, how about it.
We have a fire, and you know, two of my
daughters are at home and we were gonna have a
nice you know, dining room table one. So I start
the fire and I go out in the kitchen and
then all of a sudden, my daughter goes that has
a lot of smoke, and I go in and it

(40:45):
didn't open the flu all the way. Yeah, how about
some type of.

Speaker 5 (40:48):
Signal on your fireplace beyond the obvious, just do it
that the flu is closed.

Speaker 6 (40:53):
That would fix a lot of issues. Sometimes a little
red flag something like that.

Speaker 2 (40:58):
Yeah, good invention. Yeah AnyWho, all right, one hour in
the books, got two more to go. Jay Glazer will
join us and get an update here on who could
be traded, who should be traded. And Reggie Miller he's
got his mount rushmore of dunkers. I have a little
bit of a problem with one of those. And then

(41:19):
we'll have more in that Jamerant situation in Memphis. Fritzy's here,
Seatan's here, Marvin's here, Pauli's here, the back room guys
here as well. One hour in the Books, two more
to go, Dan and The Danis dan Patrick Show.
