Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's our one on this Tuesday. Still fighting whatever I
had in Las Vegas. It's not going away, just like Fritzie,
always going to be there, but we'll battle it together.
The voice trying to hold up here. Fritzie's got a
smile on his face, Dylan's in for Seaton, Marvin's hear
Paul yours truly in the backroom. Guys and you at home,

(00:25):
if you're watching on Peacock, good morning. Thank you for
downloading the app or radio affiliates around the country. I
warned you. The only place to get the autograph calendars
danpatrick dot com. They're sold out. We sold seven hundred
and fifty of these autograph calendars, and now you can
get autograph calendars, but you can only get them if

(00:47):
you go to Danpatrick dot com and click on the
Tailgate app. We also have calendars that aren't autographed. You
have to order by December eighth to get those calendars
by Christmas. Okay. Stat of the Day brought to you
by Panini America. The official trading cards of the program.
First Hour brought to you by tire rack dot Com.

(01:07):
The Way tire buying should be. They've been doing it
for over forty years now, helping you find the right
tires for how and what and where you drive. Tire
rack dot Com the way tire buying should be. Phone
calls always welcome. Eight seven seven three DP Show operator
Tyler sitting by. I think he's the best NFL analyst
in America. Steve Young, the Hall of Famer, will join

(01:28):
us a little later on. Devin mccordy on loan from
Football Night in America, former Patriots defensive back. He was
on the call last night for Westwood one Radio as
the Patriots welcomed in the Giants and handled them thirty
three fifteen. So eight seven seven three DP Show email
address Dpadanpatrick dot com, Twitter handle at DP show, we'll

(01:50):
talk about the Patriots. They're now eleven and two. LSU
introduced Lane Kiff and I watched most of that press conference,
and Penn State is still searching and maybe maybe looking
at BYU's Kalani Sataki, who oh, by the way, has
a conference championship game this weekend against Texas Tech, but

(02:11):
that doesn't stop anybody. Fresh college football rankings coming up
later on tonight Michigan State hiring Pat Fitzgerald. I think
that's a good hire. He went through a messy situation
with Northwestern and Will Stein of Oregon, their offensive coordinator
is taking over Kentucky. So just some of the movers
and shakers here in college football. Poll. Question that'll be

(02:34):
coming up, Play of the day, stat of the day,
all of that forthcoming. I told you it was going
to happen, and it did. Standalone game Drake May. He
was in second place with DraftKings MVP odds to Matthew Stafford.
Drake May is now your favorite to win the MVP.
What I love about Drake May, and there's a lot
to like about him, is there's not a high high

(02:55):
and low low. You get really consistent numbers with him.
He has not had a passing game under two hundred yards.
He hasn't had a passing game over three hundred yards.
I love that there's this window and he's the passing
leader right now in the NFL. I like that you
don't have to do too much, but you got to
do enough. And they're a really good team. Now we

(03:18):
can say the Giants aren't a really good team, but
you'd be correct with that. At two and eleven. So
I'm looking at New England now, best record in the AFC.
They host Buffalo, They're at Baltimore, They're at the Jets,
and then they host Miami. Let's say they go two
and two, maybe three and one, okay, getting the home

(03:39):
field advantage. They're not afraid of anybody coming to town.
If Kansas City's not in the mix, Baltimore might not
be in the mix. Are you worried about Denver coming
in the Colts Jacksonville? So I would say right now
what New England has done. Certainly Mike Vrabel that he

(04:01):
is the third coach to win ten or more at
ten game winning streak since Jim Caldwell and nine Steve
mary Ucci in nineteen ninety seven. Stat of the Day

(04:24):
brought to you by Pennini America, the official trading cards
for the Dan Patrick Show.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Yes, Paul, you know it's funny, weirdly funny to watch
on social media when the Patriots are lighting up last
night and their quarterback looks like an MVP candidate, Like
people who don't like the Patriots are responding like it
wasn't long enough. The dip of the Patriots. The post
Brady post Belichick dip. It wasn't long enough. They had like,
what two bad years, four and thirteen, four and thirteen.

(04:50):
Now they're back atop the AFC after twenty years of
high end play. They needed more of a break. It's
like the Bulls when Jordan left and they had Marcus
Pfizer some down years.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
I thought that they had a round a four or
five year run when Belichick was hanging on there and
they had cooled off.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Yeah, they in two thousand and one they were ten
and seven, made the playoffs. Twenty twenty two they're eight
to nine, miss the playoffs. Then four and thirteen, four
and thirteen. But okay, it's way too quick to be
back up top. You're right that they found their coach
and they found their quarterback. And if you have that
in the NFL, you are ahead of the game. You're
ahead of eighty five percent of the other teams. You

(05:30):
got an MVP candidate, and you got probably the coach
of the year with Mike Brabel. And you look at
every time I see Mike Brabel, I go, now, why
didn't Tennessee.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
Want to keep him? Tell me? Or did he want
to stay? And you know, ownership, new ownership, and they
didn't want But Mike Brabel, I've said this before, in't
coach whatever sport. You know, he can coach whatever team
I got. Doesn't matter.

Speaker 4 (05:55):
Yes, Dylan, how how long do you think until we
start hating Drake May and Mike Rabel?

Speaker 5 (06:01):
Like two and a half years of sustained success.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
I don't I think you got to win first. Yeah,
I think you got to win. We don't hate teams
that don't win titles.

Speaker 5 (06:13):
If they rip off a couple of Super Bowls in
the next fight.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Well yeah, then then then you're allowed to hate them. Yeah,
and they would probably expect that. But there's nothing about
Drake May where you go, Man, I hate that guy
or his attitude or anything. I mean handing out turkeys
during the week for Thanksgiving. I mean, come on, it
seems like next door. And then go out and play
like he did against the Giants. By the way, Jackson Dart, please,

(06:41):
you know, tough guys don't last, not at that position
in the NFL. Get out of bounce and I'm gonna
talk to Steve Young about this because he learned to
get out of bounds. But you know, these defensive players,
you know they they want you to stay in bounce.
They want to hit you, and all of a sudden

(07:02):
you've got a chance to pop him and he's not
gonna get out of beut. You get whatever you deserve.
If he didn't get up, I'd say that's your fault. Dude.
Here is Jackson Dark and it starts with the reporter's question.

Speaker 6 (07:16):
Well, it sounds like a broken record, Jackson just asking
you about the hits and taking them and protecting yourself
and things like that. Is there anything you would have
done different on that one? No, look like I understand
the question, but like this is like this is football,
Like I'm gonna get hit if I'm in the pocket
or outside the pocket. Like it's I don't I feel

(07:38):
like I've played this way my whole entire life. This
shouldn't be like any shock or anybody. If you've followed
along with my career and I'm we're not playing like
we're not playing soccer out here, Like you're gonna get hit.
Things happen.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
It's part of the game, Okay, The violence is part
of the game. You're our goal as a quarterback is
to eliminate the opportunities for violence on your body getting sacked.
Just go down live to see another play. Get out
of bounds. Here's Mike Rabel on the hit on Jackson Dark.

Speaker 7 (08:13):
It's a weekly reminder to the quarterback, our quarterback, you know,
I mean, we show him every week. I wouldn't get
too cute over there by the sidelines. It happens every week.
And so Christian's playing through the whistle, and as long
as the players in bounds, he's going to try to
hit him legally.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
And he did. And once again, you can just get
out of bounds. You don't have to be a tough guy.
Tough guy is playing every single week. A tough guy
plays seventeen games. That's what your goal should be, not
Hey did you see me run over that defensive back.

(08:52):
And I've seen way too many quarterbacks think they're tough
enough to do this and they're not. They're not built
that way. These guys are ready to hit you. They
know how to hit you, and they want to hurt you.
If you're a quarterback, get out of bounce. Yes, Pauline.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
If you watch a hit by Christian Ellis, Jackson, Dart
is not going out of bounds like he's He's not
doing that like, ease up. We're all agreeing that I'm
turning towards the sidelines. He's still going forward and Christian Ellis,
you know you can't hit him in the pocket, you
can't hit him low, you can't really hit him high.
This is your opportunity to declete someone, and these guys
are gonna take it. And Aikman said it was a

(09:28):
legal play.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Yes, And Aikman said that Jackson Dart has got to
change his style. And that's coming from a guy who
had multiple concussions and ended his career sooner than he
probably wanted to. But I like Jackson Dart's energy. I
like what he's given to the team. But I just
want you to harness that and use it when you
need to use that, yes, Martin.

Speaker 8 (09:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (09:52):
Unfortunately, now when I watch Jackson Dart, I look at
him the way we do to it where every time
he gets you start wincing when he starts running like
sly please because now all we think of is the
concussions more so than your quarterback play.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
Yeah, poly And totally being a tough guy when it's necessary.
If it's the fourth quarter of week seventeen and you're
trying to get in the playoffs, be a tough guy,
put your head down, get plays. You're two and ten
in a football game that doesn't really matter. Let's make
some nice throws and get out of here for next year.

Speaker 2 (10:23):
Yeah, it's surprising. And you know, Brian Dabele, maybe part
of the reason why I lost his job is they
were doing design runs for Jackson Dart and he had
a couple of concussions or games where there were concussion
symptoms there and in the blue tent, I got to
protect my quarterback. I think the Giants have found their quarterback.

(10:45):
I think he's really good, but he hasn't learned anything.
And that's what scares me. Just like he said, Hey,
anybody who knows how I play, now, his dad, you know,
played that way. Dad was a tough guy, defensive player.
Your quarterback, the ability to be available, that's the key

(11:06):
for these quarterbacks. Look at the number of injuries at
that position and they're protecting the quarterback the best they can.
That will give you an idea of just how violent
the game is. But watching Jackson Dart and I thought, oh,
is he going to try to do him a homes
where he dances down the sideline the defensive player can't
hit him, and then all of a sudden he got
popped and I go, Okay, if that doesn't get his attention,

(11:29):
then nothing's going to get his attention. And as we
heard from him after the game, it's not sinking in.

Speaker 10 (11:35):
Yes, Todd, and you think you're being selfless, well, you're
actually being selfish because there's so much invested in you
and they want this guy to be their quarterback for
the future. To try to get that extra yard too,
you got to kind of think ahead a little bit
that this organization has got so much invested in you.

Speaker 11 (11:49):
It's not about getting an extra yard or two.

Speaker 10 (11:50):
It's not the end of the fourth quarter of a
playoff game where you've got to pick up that first
down of the game's overathing.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
I don't know if his teammates are going to go, oh,
did you see him get out of bounds on nobody's
gonna say that, just walk out of bounds if you
get one extra yard. I don't know if your team
with two wins goes yes, now, yes, now we're back.
Like you're you're just getting experience. That's all you're doing.

(12:20):
It's getting information here to take into next year. Maybe
you get a new head coach, but you do have
some positives here Scataboo Malik neighbors a couple of defensive players. Okay,
you might be able to be competitive, but how about
you get ready for next season? Not I'm gonna show

(12:40):
these guys. Wow, you really showed the Patriots get out
of bounds.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
Yeah, Paul, I was watching the Manning cast for a
little bit and they were discussing that the Dart hit
and they showed a clip. You know, they always bag
on Peyton Manning, and they showed Manning avoiding a sack
where he just kind of laid down. But I don't
think I don't know who said it on his payter
or Eli. Peyton's first ten years in a league, he
didn't mess a start, and he said, he goes. My
job is to not get hit. We paid about millions
of dollars to offensive lignement. They keep me from getting hit.

(13:07):
I'm not going to volunteer to get hit.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
But every week we find this, there'll be a quarterback
who wants to take on somebody and boy are they waiting.

Speaker 4 (13:18):
Yes, Dylan, Well, there's also like elusivity guys, and.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
Like Jackson, like Lamar is elusive.

Speaker 12 (13:26):
He runs a lot, but he doesn't take these like
huge hits that like Jackson, Dart, Josh Allen, some of
those guys.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
But even Lamar Jackson's not running anywhere near what he
used to. No, Like it's far more strategic there.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Now.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
Josh Allen is a unicorn, okay, because he's as big
as the guys who are trying to hit him, and
he's he's delivering a blow. But it's just different. You know,
he's the second coming of Cam Newton when it comes
to running the football. But these other quarterbacks, you think
it's great for morale and you want to show you

(14:00):
your teammates you're tough. You'll show them that you're tough
by playing every single game. That's really hard to do.
Not many quarterbacks go wire to wire each season, play
all seventeen games and then maybe you play in the playoffs.

Speaker 9 (14:14):
Yes, Mark, Yeah, And it's weird to say this, but
he's he wants to be known as a football player.
We want you to be known as a quarterback, Like,
don't use those shoulder pads. And it's hard because I'm
sure in the culture he grew up in, being raised
by a football guy, he thinks of himself as a
football player.

Speaker 13 (14:30):
No.

Speaker 9 (14:30):
No, the rest of you guys are quarterbacks. I'm here
to play football, and that's not what the NFL.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
No.

Speaker 9 (14:35):
No, we want you to use those the arms, not
the shoulder pads, to throw the ball, not to try
to run people over.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
Dylan, what's pole question for the first hour of the program?

Speaker 4 (14:44):
Well, we got a few options, Dan, this one name
from Paulieu.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
If I were okay today or we call oh here
we go? Yeah, okay, yeah.

Speaker 12 (14:56):
Yeah, I think I got it. I got Did you
give it to me? Maybe?

Speaker 1 (15:01):
No?

Speaker 2 (15:01):
I mean I could have, but I thought that, uh,
you know, I had quarantined myself pretty well.

Speaker 5 (15:07):
No, I think I must have picked it up somewhere else.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
Okay.

Speaker 8 (15:11):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Given the hand gestures that Pauli's making, he wants you
to wait until after the break and then we'll get
the pole question. Yeah you see what that. That's what
he's doing some hand signals radio. Yeah, yeah, he's doing that.
Whatever that means. That means after the break, we'll take
a break. Your phone calls are welcome. Eight seven to seven,

(15:33):
three DP show. We'll talk about the Lane Kiffin press
conference at LSU and Steve Young a little bit later
on in the program. We're back after this Dan Patrick Show.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
We will hear from Lane Kiffin his press conference yesterday
being sworn in as the new head coach at LSU.
Your phone calls coming up as well, and we'll settle
on a poll question dealing in for Seaton at least
for today and the hour. One pole question is what.

Speaker 4 (16:42):
Well, Dan, if I were a free agent wide receiver,
I would go play with?

Speaker 5 (16:46):
Which quarterback?

Speaker 12 (16:47):
And we can kind of populate this some options being
Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Lamar Mahomes, Drake May, Stafford other hm.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
Well, I probably start with Stafford, but if you're talking
about long term, then I would probably say Drake May.
Joe Burrow when he's healthy, might be the best passer
of that entire group, at least him or Stafford. You know,
the thing I look at with the Patriots is I

(17:20):
don't know if Stefan Diggs, like he hasn't had a
great season, doesn't get a lot of catches, not a
lot of yards. Now, he might be able to have
that one breakout game in the postseason, but I don't
see him being that, Oh my god, you got to
stop that guy. And that would be my big concern
with the Patriots is do they have that go to

(17:40):
guy when you need to? They have a running game,
and I think that Drake May is. I think Drake
May knows what he can do and not do, and
I think he's pretty good at that. And that's part
of the you know, the maturity process of a young quarterback.
What can I do and what shouldn't I do and
understanding that and kind of staying in those parameters. And

(18:00):
he's done a really good job at that. Like Caleb
Williams is learning what he can and can't do, and
I think that's really important for his development. These younger
quarterbacks first year, second year, third year, do you know
what you can and can't do? Like Jackson Dart, He's
got the talent, but he still doesn't understand what he
should and shouldn't do. Certainly we saw that on display

(18:22):
last night. But we'll talk about Lane Kiffin coming up
that situation that, Yeah, I was curious how he would
handle it. He almost sounded apologetic, like, you know, I'm here. Yeah,
I know what you're probably thinking, but you know, this
is a great place to be. It just didn't feel
like he was alive, like, oh my god, I'm at

(18:44):
the well, Okay, let me play it and you judge
for yourself. Here is him, Lane Kiffin talking about the
best job in college football.

Speaker 15 (18:54):
The opportunity at LSU, as I said before, is just different.
Someone very close to me reminded me this week at
LSU is the best job in football. When you take
the history, tradition, passion, and the great players in the
state of Louisiana, no one can argue that. When you're
in Tiger Stadium on Saturday night, there is nothing like it.

Speaker 2 (19:16):
I will give you that. The atmosphere, I don't think
it's the best job in college football. You know, there's
there's a short list here. The atmosphere is wonderful. The
talent in you know, a three hour radius is unquestionably great.
But you've gone through some coaches here. You had a
messy situation there with Brian Kelly. Maybe he's bringing back

(19:40):
Ed Orgeron. Bring in Less Miles too, if you want
to the way you're at And by the way, if
Nick Saban did tell Lane Kiffin to take the LSU job,
he should say that on game day. You know, Rhys
Davis should say what role did you play in Lane
Kiffin taking that job? Because at the least he should

(20:03):
say I advised him to take the job. But it
certainly sounds like he played a large role in Lane
Kiffin taking that job. Full disclosure. He should do that
because it feels like it feels like conflict of interest there.
Here is Lane Kiffin talking about his contract.

Speaker 15 (20:24):
I said, through the process, okay, I'm never going to
make a decision on money, and I'm telling you right
now I don't know what my contract is here. That's
not very financially responsible. Okay, I'm sure it's really good. Okay,
I don't know what it is, nor did I know
what the other place is what the numbers were, because

(20:45):
I said in the beginning, I told Jimmy Sexton, don't
tell me the numbers. Okay, I want to make a decision.
It has nothing to do with money for me. Now
tell me the numbers and the plan for what the
money is for the players, because that's everything in that
area to me.

Speaker 2 (21:08):
Well, it's weird that I knew his contract numbers yesterday
at the end of the show, and I knew them
before Lane Kiffin did. Apparently, I'm going to guess Lane
had a pretty good idea of the base salary. Does
he realize, as I found out yesterday morning, that whatever
incentives he had if he had stayed at Old Miss

(21:28):
in the playoffs, he still gets paid if the team
wins their first playoff game. Lane Kiffin, from what I'm told,
gets money from his former team. So, you know, we
found this out, the numbers, and he should be compensated
even the buyout. You know, I found that out. But

(21:50):
he should know. And he's got a really good agent
and an agent who was controlling college football. But in
this situation, Lane took the job. I think he's going
to win there. And and yes, we have invited Lane
Kiffin on. The number of people are like, oh, you
say these things? Uh, you know, would you say it
to it? If Lane came on right now, I would

(22:13):
be bringing up the same things, like I expect him
to join me. He not afraid. I'm not afraid. I'm
going to ask the questions that need to be asked.
That's all. Don't have any animosity towards Lane Kiffin. I
can have a problem with the situation. And I go

(22:34):
back a long long way with Lane Kiffin, long long way,
and he usually comes on and he'll take the heat.
He'll you know, it's a firing squad there of asking
questions that are probably uncomfortable.

Speaker 9 (22:47):
Yes, mart now, your issue is not that he that
he left, but it's when he left.

Speaker 2 (22:54):
It's how he left too, like it just it was messy.
All he needed to say is hey, I'd love to
coach this team. I understand if you don't want me to.
But if it's true, which I would ask him, did
you say to the athletic director at ole Miss if
you don't let me coach this team in the playoffs.

(23:15):
I'm going to poach your coaching staff. I'm going to
poach players. That's what I want to know, because he
had no business coaching that team none. You left, You left,
so leave. You did a wonderful job, but you're telling

(23:36):
these players they're not good enough to win a national championship,
because that's why you're leaving, right. Not about money. Okay,
you don't have the resources, don't have the money to
get players. I can't win a national title here. That's
a slap in the face. Why do I want you
coaching me when you don't think we can win a

(23:57):
national championship? This is about you and he can't play
the role of victim. Hey I wanted to do it,
but they wouldn't let me. Yeah, no kidding, they shouldn't.
And for any of these analysts who say, well, you know,
they should let him do it, why why he's leaving.

(24:17):
You don't get to take a victory lap. You're done.
You did what you wanted to do. You got the job.
You got the greatest job in college football. So therefore
there's not another college job that Lane Kiffin will take.
Right Alabama comes open Nope, I'm at LSU. It's the
greatest job in college football. Okayyas Ton.

Speaker 11 (24:40):
Was he saying more I can win a national championship here?

Speaker 10 (24:42):
Or is it more the ego of like LSU is
just a more high profile job.

Speaker 11 (24:47):
Just kind of like what you're saying with Alabama.

Speaker 10 (24:49):
How much of it is that where it's like Lsu'
that's I want my name attached LSU.

Speaker 11 (24:53):
That's a bigger deal than being the All Miss coach.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
I have no idea. I mean, if he comes on,
I can ask it. But till then you just kind
of go, Okay, I'm going to try to read between
the lines here. But he did sound almost apologetic that
he did this to old myths at this moment in
the playoffs, biggest year in school history, and now you're

(25:17):
going to go to the greatest job, and who's helping
you Apparently Nick Saban, Pete Carroll are giving you advice.
And then he invokes God. He talked to God. Okay, yeah, Paully.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
Just less than ten years ago, Lane Kiffin was introduced
as the new USC head football coach. He said, it's
very obvious when we had a chance to come back
here that we were coming back home to take the
greatest job in all of college football.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
Of course, of course, yeah, okay, I mean once again,
he'll do grade at LSU. I've never doubted him as
a coach. Never, It's the things that he says and
does as a person. That's where I was bringing things
into question.

Speaker 5 (25:59):
That's all.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
And once again we've invited him. We've invited him the
last couple of weeks and will continue to do that.
But he doesn't owe me anything, but I would like to.
My job is, while I'm still doing this job is
try to figure out where is college football going. This
isn't necessarily about Lane Kiffin. College football has created this.

(26:23):
They created this situation that I hope when I'm retired
and I'm watching college football, I'm not yelling at the
TV because they've allowed this to continue. It could be
nil transfer portal, the timing of all of those things.
Coaches who can go from a team that's in the
playoffs and go to another school, that's wrong.

Speaker 9 (26:45):
That's wrong.

Speaker 2 (26:46):
That's wrong. Lane's the latest to do it. And do
I believe what he's saying. That's why I'd like to
have him one so I can ask him these questions,
but once again he owes me nothing nothing. But if
I get the opportunity, I will ask the right questions.
Chris and Syracuse. Hi, Chris, what's on your mind? Hey?

Speaker 16 (27:07):
Thanks?

Speaker 17 (27:07):
Dan? Hey, you know a couple things on Lane Kiffin.
With the timing and the manner of which he left way,
it really sets up Old Miss to be the little
darlings of the college football playoffs. I bet you there
are games the radiance will be through the roof and Dan,
you hit on just what I was going to say.
The thing that really bothered me at that press conference
yesterday is when Lane said he wishes he could have
finished out this historic season at Old Miss, but the

(27:29):
school didn't want him, making it seem like somehow he's
the victim. And yeah, a possible nickname for Lane Kiffin
of how he's always chasing that next gig, Lane Sniffing.
And lastly, a possible mock headliner T shirt for all
the fans that he's jilted over the years. Coach Kiffin
always in the pass hole. Lane?

Speaker 2 (27:52):
All right, thank you, Chris, thank you? All right, Pritzy,
you gonna have mockadlines with Lane Kiffin going to LSU.
We need to do that. Uh, John in Indiana? Good morning, John,
what's on your mind today?

Speaker 13 (28:08):
Thanks for taking the call. Dan, really enjoy your show.
Two things, first about Jackson Dart. You know Jackson Dart
uh said it probably as well.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
As it can be said.

Speaker 13 (28:19):
He's a football player. And one week all of the
pndits are screaming, well did you see that hit on
the quarterback? It really wasn't that. It wasn't flagrant or anything.
It's not unnecessary roughness with linebacker. You know, it's hard
to pull up. And then when the guy tries to
make a football play, now we're questioning whether he's intelligent

(28:41):
enough to get out of bounds. I do believe Jackson
Dart was headed out of bounds. His next step was
going to be out of bounds. He just didn't get there.
But I appreciate the fact the guys willing to take
a hit. The game is. You know, they used to
say basketball was non contact and and football was a
collision sport. Well, now basketball is a collision sport and

(29:05):
football is a train wreck when these guys hit each other.
These guys are so big, so physical.

Speaker 2 (29:11):
Anthony, you avoid those hits if you're a quarterback. You
avoid those hits. You're just coming out of concussion protocol.
And yes he was getting out of bounds. You're two
and ten get out of bounds. Hey, he was going
to get out of bounds. He could have gotten out
of bounds prior to that, and then he doesn't get hit.

(29:33):
That's all. Yes, it's a violent game. Yes they're football players,
but the goal at that position is to eliminate as
many of those hits as possible, not to prove how
tough you are. Andrew and Washington. Hi Andrew, what's on
your mind? Good morning, Dan Bennett.

Speaker 18 (29:51):
Thanks for taking my call. A couple of things before
my comments. First of all, I'm glad my Carolina Panthers
finally provided a play of the day yesterday. That was exciting.
That took years. Secondly, seeing pictures of Seaton over in Europe,
he looks about five to ten years younger. I don't
know if that's what happens when you go to Europe,
but you know, it looks like he's having fun. Anyways,

(30:12):
to Patriots last night, Dan, you always say this, watch
a full game. It was the first time on the
West Coast I've actually seen a full game of the Patriots.
That's a complete team. Mike Rabel's doing a great job.
He was a much better coach than he showed in
Tennessee because they took players away from him and just
gave him the minimal to work with. So he's great
in that realm. With that, I have two stats of

(30:33):
the day. So last night the Patriots won their tenth
straight game in a season that the prior season they
lost thirteen plus games. That hasn't happened since nineteen ninety nine. Also,
Mike ray Will becomes only the third coach in fifty
five years to have a ten game winning streak with
a team in his first season. So guys, have a
great day.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
Thanks, thank you. Andrew. Yeah, he joins Jim Caldwell and
Steve mary Ucci. But Caldwell took over for Tony Dungee
with those great Colts teams, and Mariucci took over the
Niners team. So this is different. New England wasn't any
good last year and they are really good this year now.
Ten game winning streak, and you know, I do tell

(31:15):
the audience watch an entire game, you're going to get
a truer sense of a player, a team, a coach,
an environment, all of those things. And that's why these
standalone games we overreact. It's because we didn't watch them play.
If the Patriots were playing the Giants at one o'clock
on Sunday, very few people would have this referendum on

(31:37):
Drake May or Mike Rabel. It's a standalone game. You're
watching now, all of a sudden, you go, man, Mike
Rabel's really good, man, Drake May's really good. Yes, yes,
but it does help putting it in context when you
watch an entire game. Dylan in San Diego, Hi, Dylan,

(31:57):
what's on your mind today?

Speaker 8 (32:00):
Was a DP?

Speaker 19 (32:00):
I got a couple of things for you. I got
a good friend that is an Indianapolis cult fan, and
be it that I am a Jaguars fan. Marvin Pie
of the face that you owe me? He spells his
name d I l o N and I spell a
d y l a N. And we're constantly arguing about this.
So I'm hoping that you can settle this for me

(32:21):
this week.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
Marvin, do you owe a pie to the face to Dylan?

Speaker 11 (32:25):
I don't remember.

Speaker 9 (32:26):
He needs to refresh my memory.

Speaker 2 (32:29):
Oh, the Jags eight wins?

Speaker 8 (32:31):
It was seven and a half wins the over under
the Jags hit that nice eighth win this weekend.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
You know what, d y l a N. We're gonna
have the IT team look into that. But thank you
for the phone call. And we have a Dylan here,
and that's d y l a N. So I'm going
to side with that. And of course I love Bob
Dylan d y l a n even though his name
is Bobby Zimmerman. Yes, Paul Damn. We're gonna find out
about that bets in a moment. But d y l
a N is a wealth mythology and I mean son

(33:01):
of the c d I l o N is Irish
and English. It means either loyal or faithful. M you
can't go wrong with either, right I kind of I
don't know. I think I like a d y l
a N look a little bit more.

Speaker 5 (33:17):
I'm partial to that as well.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
Thank you Dylan, Thank you Doyman. All right, we'll come back.
We'll get to more phone calls here and our play
of the day next. Fox Sports Radio has the best

Speaker 1 (33:38):
Oh my god, the play of the day, The play
of the day. Check this out Inverness feels the snap
left foots the fun left to right towards Marcus Jones.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
He's under it between the hash marks at the sixth he.

Speaker 4 (33:56):
Runs it left to the fifteen May number twenty ac
celebrates thirty thirty five, forties.

Speaker 5 (34:00):
Didn't get it off the hit hell on the near side.

Speaker 1 (34:03):
Forty to the pillion is Jones going to the twenties
to the tend the house touchdown. Patriots play a close.
You tell me that I read it to play, though
I'd say it was back.

Speaker 2 (34:19):
That's courtesy of the Patriots Radio Network. Marcus Jones goes
ninety four yards. He now has seventy seven career punt returns,
enough to qualify for the highest punk return average in
NFL history. His average of fourteen point six yards is
ahead of the second place person, George McAfee. Uh, who

(34:40):
can forget George McAfee. He played for the Bears back
in the forties and fifties. That's your play of the day.
Play of the day, brought to you by the great
folks at MAKO. You want to freshen up your trusty
old ride. Keep it looking sharp. You can with Mako
from dense to faded paint. They got you covered. Literally,
get a free estimate. Hey, better get Mako. U John

(35:04):
and Louisiana. Hi John, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 16 (35:07):
Hey? Dan? How are you doing today?

Speaker 2 (35:08):
Good sir, Good sir, Just I've.

Speaker 16 (35:11):
Called a few times. I love the show. I love
all the Daynett. You guys are the best. But listen.
The Lane Kiffin thing. A couple of things. One, I
assum for sure you will get the interview. First of all,
you're the best interviewer and nobody's ever been close. I
have no doubt Lane will give you the interview. When

(35:33):
things die, Dan, I'm sure that you get to ask
them all the questions you want to hear. I think
you're wrong on a few things. I'd like to listen
to these things. First of all, I don't think Nick
Saban ows any explanation. I don't think it's a conflict
of interest. I'm sure that Saban did probably play a
part in this. He has said from I mean, it's

(35:55):
no secret that he has always said his only regrett
and co was that he ever left lshit. So I
think that did play a part. But I don't know.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
Why I should say that, John, He's on the pre
eminent college football show in America, and Saban is not
somebody who's not in the media. If he wasn't in
the media and he told him to take the job,
I don't have any problem with that. He's on the
pre eminent college football show and should have at least
disclosed that that. Hey, I've talked to Lane. I said

(36:27):
I told him to take the job, or whatever the
context is. I think he should at least state that
upfront he works for ESPN. Okay, what's your other issue?

Speaker 16 (36:36):
I get your point. I don't know if it's a
say I really see this still as a college football problem.
It's if college football could fix this. They could fix
it by changing the portal, by changing the signing day,
and maybe this will be a learning process for college
football to say, we have to make sure our coaches

(36:58):
are not getting coached during the season.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
And because I said that, John, John, I said that
that this is a college football problem. Okay, Lane is
the latest, but this is really egregious that your team
is in the playoffs, Like I wanted him to finish
what you start. I mean coaches. They preach that all
the time, finish what you start, but then the coach

(37:23):
doesn't do that. Would the LSU job be available in
a couple of weeks, they would have waited for him.
That's the way college football should be, not oh, I
got a job, see you. And that's the disappointing part
of all of this. It is something bigger than Lane Kiffin,
and I've said that, and for the next two and
a half years, all rail on this until I retire

(37:45):
and let somebody else take the baton because college football
it's so fractured now, and that's what's disappointing. It should
be unbelievable, expanded playoffs, you know, players who can go
where they want to go. I'm all for them getting paid.
I'm all for the transfer portal. But we can't sit
here and keep criticizing these players when the coaches do it.

(38:08):
And that's what's more disruptive here. What else do you have?
John Well?

Speaker 16 (38:13):
I feel like I agree with everything he said. I
as a huge Lshue fan and ole Miss hater, I feel.

Speaker 2 (38:21):
Terrible for those Johnny should have led with that. If
if Lane Kiff and all of a sudden in year
three goes LSU's in the playoffs, and Alabama calls and says, hey,
do you want to coach Alabama? You have no problem
then Lane leaving LSU in the playoffs to go to Alabama,

(38:41):
because you don't have a problem with him leaving Old
Miss to go to LSU.

Speaker 16 (38:46):
I didn't say. I've said I feel terrible for the
hole Miss players and and their fans.

Speaker 2 (38:52):
I do Do you really feel that terrible because you
hate Old Miss, don't you? John?

Speaker 16 (38:57):
I do, but I hate every other school on the SEC.
I'm an LSU fan, But my point being is I'm
also you.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
Hate by John? Do you hate Bandy?

Speaker 16 (39:10):
She knows?

Speaker 2 (39:14):
Thank you for the phone call, John, Thank you. This
is bigger than Lane. Kiff and I said that Bob
in California, Hi Bomb.

Speaker 8 (39:24):
Hey Dad, how are you doing? Hide all the crew
and everything? Long time listener? And I agree, it's bigger
than Lane, but I really don't think my perspective. I've
been watching this for a while. I'm a Southern California
fan SC fan. Nothing against Old Miss or LSU, but
I don't think he could have handled it any other way.
He was going to take the job. It has the
best recruiting base, great salary, nil, great facilities, it's a

(39:48):
premier program that he can now build up after Kelly leaving.
It's it was the pick. Now, how else could he
leave Old Miss without being fairly magnanimous that he wanted
to coach his player.

Speaker 2 (40:00):
He can't leverage this, Bob and say if you don't
let me coach. Now, this was the report. I'm going
to take your coaching staff and I'm going to poach
players as well. Does that sound like it's all truistic that, Hey,
I just want to finish what we started with my
guys here certainly found you know, seems like he was leveraging.
He wanted it both ways. I'm leaving, but damn I

(40:21):
want to go out there and show people just how
great I am as a coach with this Old Miss team.
That's the problem I have with it.

Speaker 8 (40:28):
Yeah, if he did said that, if that's true, yes,
that changes it, of course. But maybe that didn't happen.
Maybe it just became that conversation with the leaders of
the university and him. It was kind of maybe a
little bit a little tough conversation, and they just decided
to part ways and he was going to go anyways.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
And he's agree, but he shouldn't be able to go now.
You want to go, you want to leave after the season.
You should be able to leave and go wherever you want,
make whatever you want, live wherever you want. I have
no problem with that. The problem is college foot ball
has created this situation. And thank you for the phone call, Bob.
That's the problem I have with this. Nobody's in charge

(41:06):
in college football, zero oversight, and that's the problem. Everybody's
out for themselves. You've got two teams that are going
to play for a championship and both coaches have left
to take other jobs. You got BYU's coach who has
mutual interest with Penn State. It's not fair. It's not

(41:29):
fair to the situation, not fair to the players, not
for you know, fair to the schools. It's just not
and hopefully they will revise that for the betterment of
college football.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today.
