Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Cavino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio and for the
Great Dan Patrick.

Speaker 3 (00:10):
What's the date? Even the twenty ninth, Monday.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
The twenty ninth, As we get ready for the final
week of the NFL season, can you believe that we're
there already?

Speaker 4 (00:21):
What's up? Cove?

Speaker 3 (00:28):
Hold on one second? Can we know you there? Buddy boy?

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Okay, we're getting to everything that went down yesterday Week
seventeen of the NFL.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
I think we're looking at the feedback.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Someone said, you know, there's a reason why Aaron Rodgers
is gonna be on Sunday Night Football, one last opportunity
for Chris Collinsworth to stroke mister Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
Yeah, I love that's a good thought.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
All right, Well, hey, we'll get Cavino back up and running.
But hey, any other thoughts you have. Let's go to
your phone calls. Let's strow with Frank. Frank, you're on
Coveno and Rich into the great DP.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
What's up?

Speaker 5 (01:08):
Rank?

Speaker 6 (01:10):
Hey, guys, I have a theory on the why they
have the San Fan Seattle game on Saturday this week?
Could it be because wild Card weekend starts next Saturday,
and knowing that both San Fry and Seattle are going
to be playing next weekend, to at least give those
guys those teams seven days rest.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
You're saying, one of the way, wherever whoever loses, whatever
team loses nine or Seahawks, you're saying that they've already
mentally slated that is one of your Saturday wildcard games.
So if the Niners drop this one or see, someone's
going to drop the game. So one of those teams
is going to have to play as a wildcard, the
other gets to buy. So you're saying, might as well
give him that that one week off exactly.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
Into the postseason. That makes sense.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
I could see that.

Speaker 5 (01:54):
Rich, you have Kyle Shanahan coaching your team, you only
need four days rest.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
I was gonna say, my only my only thought that
bothers me about this short week are two of the
most important players on the Niners right now are a
little hobby and that's George Kittle, who said he wanted
to come back yesterday. He said it was a game
time decision, So likely Kittle's get to go in Week eighteen.
And big Trent Williams, who I think Scott Van Pelt JINXD.

(02:21):
Do you remember after that Indianapolis game, He's like, Trent,
you're you're one of the best offensive linemen in NFL history,
but you've been banged up over the years.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
This is your.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
First season where you played every game.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
I'm like, shut the hell up, Van Pelt And here
we are a week later. He's a little banged up,
but hopefully he's back.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
What's up? Covina? H All right, let's go.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
To your feedback at eight seven, seven, nine nine on
Fox Wes and Idaho saying, YO, give me that Sunday
Night crew or the Olsen crew over Brady. I don't
know what you thought, Brady was an observation I had.
I thought Tom Brady over the weekend is proving that
he's getting more and more entertained in the booth. Not
only more and more entertaining, but what was what the
glove thing he was? He was harping, you know, like

(03:05):
sometimes you get fixated on something. I think Tom Brady
was fixated on how in those weather conditions?

Speaker 3 (03:11):
And who know better than him? So you almost have
to take his word more than anyone.

Speaker 5 (03:14):
But he used of all he looked like a bond villain.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
I can't go for the turtleneck look. I don't know anyone.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
I mean, I guess if you're like a dude that's
in like fashion and style, But Danny.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Do you ever rock a turtleneck?

Speaker 5 (03:31):
I think he could get away with it.

Speaker 4 (03:32):
I can't.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Turtleneck with sports code is a look where I'm always
like Turtle Liquid sports cut. Huh, you're going with the
turtle lick and sports code. But Tom Brady proving that.
I think we were all very tough on him, and
I get it. You know what we're tough on him
when you sign a contract and you see the numbers, like, Yo,
tom Brady's making hundreds of millions of dollars in a
long term deal to be a broadcaster, and he wasn't

(03:54):
so sharp at the beginning. Very easy to say he sucks.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
But I don't think he's that bad. I'll be honest.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
I still think Greg Olsen might be my favorite guy
that's in the in the world of color commentating for Fox.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
Dude, I think Tom Brady's doing everything we expected him
to do, get better at it, noticeably better. I thought
he was great. I think we're overly critical. It's just
because it's Tom Brady. We're hanging on every word, he says,
we're just listening extra close. He's great than he was
when he started, for sure. And dude, as far as

(04:29):
criticizing his turtleneck, I'm with you. It's noticeable because he's
Tom Brady, but not everybody could pull it off because
they're not Tom Brady.

Speaker 2 (04:35):
Yeah, it's like, you know, we make fun of him,
but Cam Newton pulls off those hats.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
You cunning? I mean like that.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Yeah, some people could rock a style and some others can't.
So it's noticeable, but yeah, does it look bad? Are
they superstars? Can they pull it off? That's the truth.
You know what's funny is that I guess if you
got any retired star in any sport to do TV commentating,
you start to see people's I want to say crutches,
but their their go tos like Danny. If you start

(05:04):
to call him play by player or something, we'd be like, yo,
you've noticed how Danny always does does this? People love
to talk about how Collins Earthles are, like, here's a
guy that blank you know, Tom Brady in the way
he slurs on mahomes. Yeah, Tom Brady pointed out last
night Tirico was slurping on your boy Party. Yeah, they've
even made a comment though, they're like, hell, look at

(05:25):
a Collins are beating the trolls on social media to
it by at least admitting that he's you know, brock
Party does some good stuff, and he immediately compares him
to Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
But you look at it this way.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
The the broadcasters that we knew his former players are
all gonna have little things.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
We point out. Tom Brady's very excitable.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
He gets you can see what a football fan he
is because he gets excited for the big plays, like
he's screaming in the booth.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
And I have no issue with that, right, I think
that's great. I think that's what you want from an announcer.
I just think because is Tom Brady and he was
so criticized when he first got in there, we still
hang on to it instead of just listening. You know.
It's like Rich, It's like when we as radio hosts
when our friends are listening, they're hanging on every word

(06:11):
instead of just listening like you would to any other
normal shot. You're not overly criticizing everything. Just listen and
enjoy Tom Brady. So things that made you go, hmmm,
any observation you made speaking to Tom Brady? Even more
comparisons Drake May to Tom Brady five tuddies, the most

(06:33):
for the Pats since TB twelve thirteen and three AFC
East clinched Drake May the Mahahan. I just think it's wild.
People are saying there's a lot of fun, you know,
rumors obviously rich of how Tom Brady's an investor in
you know, cloning, that cloning thing where he cloned his dog.
You're like, dude, maybe Drake May has cloned because it

(06:55):
is pretty amazing to see the stats he's putting up.
You know, they just need.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Did the right coach and the right quarterback and you
know it's the most underrated thing in all of sports.
Think about every sport, every sport you got, what does
it take to win? In baseball You're like, well, you
need to do you need an ace and you need
you know, you need a couple of guys that could
hit thirty five or more home runs, like you know, basketball,
you need the right you know leader every every sport

(07:20):
you like, what is the equation to possibly win in
the NFL? I think it's very simple. If you get
a quarterback coach combo that gels together. And you're seeing
with Ben Jhonnson and Caleb Williams within year one of
them together, You're like, you get a coach at a
quarterback that are like a little match made in heaven.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
That is all you really, that's all you really need.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
That again, you fill in the blanks around them, but
you'll compete at minimum, you'll compete with that combo.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
You know where you were reminded of that. I don't
know if people watched it over the taint of the holidays,
but the John Elway documentary on Netflix, which I highly recommend,
you keep talking about Kyle Shanahan, but he credits Lway,
credits Mike Shanahan for changing his life and changing his career.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
It's true, though, think about all the teams that you
really believe in. What have they have in common? Danny,
this is the most common. This is the most obvious
statement I brought up. But the Rams, you got McVeigh
and Stafford, any good team. And my point was you
have a good young quarterback like Drake may and Rabel
who came in there, and we forget that Mayo was
the coach of a year. Remember that one year one year,

(08:30):
and then it was just like, yeah, it's not working
out of you. You were a former player. Everyone loved you,
but uh, let's Rabel instead. Like Rabel and Drake May
seem to have clicked, and you have Sean Payton and
Bo Nicks. You get a quarterback coach combo that get
each other, that almost pick each other, right, I mean,
like you you find each other. It's almost like a relationship,

(08:51):
and like you run with it as long as you can.

Speaker 5 (08:55):
There's a wild Drake maystat here. He's the first player
with five plus passing touch downs and over a ninety
percent completion percentage in a game since nineteen eighty one.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
Damn, and that check game could have got ugly.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
I was flipped.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
It's not a game.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
I don't think anyone watched all four quarters of it
was disgusting, and there were better games on. But anytime
you looked at a highlight or you had your multiple
games up on the TV, you're like, yeah, this game
is ugly and could have been worse. I almost saw
like at one point the Patriots were like yeah, then
they were like, yeah, we'll just take out some starters
or relax, like this game they could have beat them
seventy to ten or whatever it was, it would have

(09:31):
been disgusting. And then you wonder, is there any chance
Aaron Glenn in the world gets another shot at this?

Speaker 3 (09:38):
Are they committed to him?

Speaker 2 (09:39):
Like, because you just start to hear like in a
week from now, who's on the hot seat?

Speaker 1 (09:44):
Right?

Speaker 2 (09:44):
Like what coaches are the first to go? I'd I'd
be shocked to see if they stick with him. And
speaking of documentaries, can bet I'm looking at the feedback.
Colin hit us up and said, you brought up the
Lway one, which I'm gonna watch tonight.

Speaker 4 (09:57):
I think, oh, man, I haven't watched this yet. Overminded
of what a winner he was, what he meant to Denver,
how he put it on the map, you're reminded of
the fact that this dude lost, I mean common knowledge.
But when you see how down he was three Super
Bowls right to come back to AFC When we.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Were kids, dude, the AFC couldn't stack up.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
It was like, do you remember at one point it
was like, all right, whoever wins the NFC, the Niners,
the Cowboys, maybe the giants of the Redskins, Like there
was a powerhouse in the NFC of but like three
or four teams and it was like, all right, who's
gonna beat the Broncos this year?

Speaker 4 (10:32):
He wins the second Super Bowl, then wins a third
as a GM I think, the only player to win
as a as a player at GM. And then he's
watching his highlights. I'm not giving it away. Let's just
say it's emotional. The guy has gone through a roller coaster,
but he's a winner and he credits. Like Rich said,
the quarterback coach combo is so significant. He couldn't do much.

(10:53):
But with Shanahan, everything jailed and you know a lot
of times maybe we put it on the quarterback, but
you know, maybe behind the scenes, it really is the
fact that they're just not shelling with the system, with
the quarterback and what's expected of them. Like Danny g
I wonder if that's what's happening with your boy Geno Smith.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
I mean, he's not your answer.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
No, I know he's not the answer, but no, you
got to do you fall off so hard, like something's
not clicking with the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
I think he just had a quick little rebirth and
was just is never the same. And by the way,
when I said the documentary Ken says, Colin said, speaking
to documentaries, not only the lay one. Did you see
the first look we're getting at the speaking of coaches?

Speaker 3 (11:30):
Nick Cage is John Madden. That's been floating around.

Speaker 6 (11:32):
You know.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
I'm glad he brought that up because I was thinking
about that too. I have seen it. I watched the trailer. Yeah,
and dude, I gotta tell you, man.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
Do you still see Nick cador you? Oh? You buy it?

Speaker 4 (11:42):
In Yeah, I see Nick Cage in a fat suit,
Like that's really it. And it really bothers me because
I hear he's a great show.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Why I'm John Madden Boom Toll fact intern acted where
Boom Boom Turnduck.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
In Booms And all I see is Nick Cage's stupid
face in a fat suit. And there's a lot of
rumor and speculation on social media is like they should
have whit were fact Frank Caliendo and they always thought
John Candy would have been well John can't it would
have been, but he's thirty years ago. Geez right, you know,
but you know I wish I wish this movie. Well,

(12:17):
I'm gonna watch with an open mind, but I can't
not see Nick Cage's face.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
But I am seeing it. I'm hearing good things. You
know what, there are so many other observations. Things we
got to get to Week seventeen of the NFL and
anything else that was going on in your life. What
did you watch? Any good shows? Have you been killing
time during the holiday season. We'll take all your feedback.

Speaker 4 (12:37):
And well, I brought up Dandyg's Raiders too, because I
want him to break down that Max Crosby drama because
that was making me so you.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Mean, how Max Crosby's on trampolines with his kids. Meanwhile
the Raiders like, yeah, he's out, Like right, there's something there.

(14:39):
numbers eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox and we're
wrapping up week seventeen Things that made you go. We'll
also get you ready for tonight's game. But a few
more observations, Rich, Snoop Dog this has nothing to do
with the NFL, even though he did that halftime.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
I mean, but it doesn't look I have Snoop Dogg.
I think the Snoop Dogg halftime show.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
Is very no no, no, no worthy. Snoop dog observation that
stood out to me was the viral clip of him
catching the kickoff at his own bowl game. He's being
interviewed again. It's the twenty twenty five Snoop Dogg Arizona
Bawl presented by Gin and Juice. He's being interviewed and
the kickoff is going like right in his direction. It

(15:19):
look if you didn't see it, take a listen bang.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
The Ultimate gate back what watch it's made.

Speaker 4 (15:25):
It's mate man who.

Speaker 8 (15:31):
And he came out of his shoe, so he's going
down down, here in the doghouse, West Ronaldson.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
My man, my man, he came out.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
Of your shoe right there. Come on, man, I'm just
doing it all today.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
Man, all right, in the middle of the interview.

Speaker 8 (15:43):
But the ball, had he get caught? Had he get caught?
Every dollar from this game going a chair. So he
flies out of his sketcher to make this catch. And
I think the timing, everything about this was pretty awesome.
Made me say hmmm, because think about the wherewithal you
have to have in that moment being interviewed.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
You're in your own end zone, it says Snoop Dogg,
in the end zone, your own bowl game, and the
ball's coming your way, and you have the again, the
wherewithal to stop mid interview to catch it, Like yah, dude.
And by the way, that's not that easy to do.
And I know Snoop Dogg has some skills and he's
a football coach and all that, but that's not that
easy to do, especially with all that pressure. And he

(16:23):
falls out of a shoe. I thought that was pretty awesome.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
I think Snoop Dogg is a pretty athletic guy. He
said he's very involved in the football coaching world. I
think he had to attatch it to end in a
moment he almost dropped it. Yeah, he got it, you know.
I will say another observation, the NFL really stepping it
up with holiday halftime shows. And I'm not saying it's
diluting the super Bowl, but we've seen three now that

(16:49):
I've been impressed with. Wasn't the best, but I thought
Post Malone at Thanksgiving with solid eminem and Jack White,
that was fantastic.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
That was though, especially for Troy and what they mean
to Detroit down perfect.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
If you missed it, it's streaming on Netflix because it
lives there now. The twelve minute eight to twelve minute
halftime show has been isolated and just living on Netflix now.
Snoop Dogg performs like what would you say, like a medley,
like a medley, but almost like a holiday ish medley
of his songs. Lany Wilson, the Country Star comes out,
the K pop Demon Hunters Andrea Bocelli, Like there was

(17:26):
a meme going around, It's like, what is going on here?
It's a boa Shelly and Snoop Dogg, Like, I thought
it was fantastic.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
Martha Stewart introduced them.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
Christmas on Cush bro I was watching that and I
said to my wife that bed Bunny's going to bring
it at the super Bowl. But this year there's been
an emphasis that super Bowl is not the only game
in town because these games on Christmas and Thanksgiving they
g have like fifty million viewers, So it's almost like
super Bowl light.

Speaker 4 (17:54):
Now.

Speaker 2 (17:55):
I think you're done in the days of throwaway halftime
shows because if the NFL is going to try to
own Thanksgiving and Christmas, I think you're gonna see like
secondary to the super Bowl type halftime shows.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
So and it's a win win for everybody, you know,
the viewers. I mean, who didn't like that.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
I was watching with friends and family and I was like, yeah,
look Snoop Dogg.

Speaker 3 (18:13):
How cool?

Speaker 4 (18:13):
That was fine, very cool? And who rebranded themselves harder
and better than Snoop Dogg. I mean, the dude was
a gangster rapper in the nineties. Like that's the truth.
And you know, you can question how hard he was
or what his role was or whatever, but I mean
that's who he was. Murder was the case that they

(18:34):
gave it.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Now he hangs with Martha Stewart and now he's you know,
everybody loves him, and he's with Martha Stewart, Like you said,
props to him.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
He's making a difference in the community. He's coaching kids
like it's unbelievable. I wear his Skechers like his evolution
is just insane.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Let's say hi to one of our buds in Vegas trip.
Happy holidays, buddy, Thank you gentlemen.

Speaker 9 (18:59):
It's great to hear off for three hours. I wish
all are on for three hours every day.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Thanks mall.

Speaker 9 (19:03):
Hey, I was gonna say about the Raiders. They're not tanking.
They're just stanking when you're over penalized. They run this
crazy ten yard half coverage. You and I could complete
passes to each other. They're at a position they can't tackle.
But we do have what the second highest cat space,
like one hundred million. So we'll find out how good

(19:25):
Brady is and who wants to come play for us.

Speaker 4 (19:27):
I'll be honest.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
I you know, I wonder if Tom Brady could hypnotize
and remember they used the word on true Remember True
Blood on HBO. Yeah, the vampire show that was popular.

Speaker 4 (19:38):
Yeah, it was great.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
The vampires would glamour people. I wonder if Tom.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
Brady has the ability to glamor young players, like, listen,
young player, I'm handsome, amazing, Like you know, who.

Speaker 4 (19:47):
Has the blueprint? He doesn't. Who's not enamored? I think
that's the real word you're looking for. Who's not enamored
by Tom Brady?

Speaker 2 (19:54):
Dan If you're some young free agent or you know,
possible kid at a combine and and you see Tom Brady,
and let's say Tom Brady shows up with like all
his Super Bowl rings and he's all handsome, and he's
Tom Brady and Turtle and he's he's like, we're building something,
and we're building something in Las Vegas.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
Trust me, I'm Tom Brady.

Speaker 5 (20:11):
Well, this has already happened. Last segment, we talked about
Ben Johnson. Ben Johnson himself said the only reason he
even went and spoke with them was because of Brady.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Ended up in Chicago and it's working out for him
with Caleb. But Ben Johnson only took an interview with
the Raiders because of Tom Brady. So you got to
assume that free agents, coaches, kids at the combine are
going to gravitate perhaps because the Raiders. Listen, the Raiders
are one of those teams where their fan base is ridiculous.
They have great fans, They're a great team in the NFL,

(20:44):
like you sort of want the Raiders to be good.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
The Raiders, they have great expectations, they have great uniform.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
I mean we all had they have Tom Brady and
they had a great starter jacket in the nineties he started.
I mean, Jim Plunkett was the last time they had glory.
I mean, the Raiders to me are also.

Speaker 5 (21:00):
Don't forget the multi billion dollar facilities in stadium they
have in place. They didn't used to have that. They
used to bring people to Alameda County. No knock on.
You know, half my family lives there. No knock on
the old establishment there. But I walked through the facilities there,
and our studios here are more fancy than the old
Raider facility.

Speaker 4 (21:20):
And could you imagine that.

Speaker 5 (21:22):
They said there were high schools in the country that
had better gyms, a better workout situations than the Raiders
when they were in Oakland, and they used to bring
high like the top free agents into that building and
the agent free agents would look around like really, like
you've got.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
To give me a lot of money. They told mex
Scrowsby to go work out a plan of fitness. Is
that true back in Oakland? So let me let me
ask you. All things are a place rich for the Raiders.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
And if you get Fernando Mendoza and what he means
to the Latino community too, and lots of Hispanic fans
with the Raiders, man, they could be.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
POPPI sure if they get it right. It's like the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
There's certain teams stink and you're like, you know, it's
okay that they stink. The Raiders stinking for this long.
It's just not like the Raiders being competitive is good
for the NFL. Like as much as I don't like
the Yankees, when the Yankees are not good, it's of
stinks for baseball. Like the Yankees, like loving them or
hating them as part of baseball, like they when they're

(22:19):
not when they have like a down year, it's like
that's no fun because you want to love or hate
teams like that. And the Raiders. It's like the Cowboys.
I think when the Cowboys stink gets bad for football
because you want to see the Cowboys win and then
losing a key spot.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
I think the Raiders.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
If the Raiders in Las Vegas with Tom Brady and
the Davis family. If they had a if they had
a coach quarterback combo and actually we're competitive, that would
be they'd be like Primetime.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
Who wouldn't want to watch the Raiders?

Speaker 4 (22:50):
I couldn't agree more rich and not to cut you
off on the Raiders, but there's one thing we didn't
bring up, things that made you go hmm. To wrap
up week seventeen, in our observation shown this weekend, we
never mentioned old man Rivers going zero to three on
his comeback. You know what? And again he played a
decent game seventeen for thirty one hundred and forty seven yards,

(23:12):
another crucial interception at the end of the game, one
touchdown he battled, But the Jaguars look good. Twenty three seventeen.
What are your thoughts on Rivers coming back? He said,
don't have no regrets. I thought he played solid. Dude.
I feel the same way. I wish he would have
got one. He was in every game he played, and
you know, looking back, people will be like, oh, yeah,

(23:34):
when he came back and lost three games, It's like, yeah,
but he was really competitive in all three games.

Speaker 3 (23:39):
There is not one person I guarantee this.

Speaker 2 (23:44):
There's not one backup or off waivers, off of a
practice squad player that could have came in there and
been more effective than Philip agreed.

Speaker 3 (23:55):
And I say that because you look at who they played.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
If you told some forty four year old quarterback to
come in and say, hey, listen, man, we need to
we need some wins down the stretch. We're playing the
the Falcons, the Jets, and the and the Cardinals and
that or the Titans. That's one thing he was told, Hey,
we're throwing you in. You and Chainstike and are boys.
You know the system. But uh, listen, I know this

(24:20):
might sound crazy, but uh, you have to go to
Seattle and play the best team in the NFC, then
come home to play the forty nine ers, who are
unstoppable on offense right now, so you're gonna have to
keep up with uh Kyle Shanahan on the other side
of the ball. And then oh, go play a team
that's won seven in a row and Trevor Lawrence and
uh Liam Cohen are.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
Are clicking for the last two months.

Speaker 4 (24:42):
And dude, dude, they were. He was in every game,
could have won every game and just fell short. And
I just hope people remember that you know, years from now.
I think, you know, I don't know, you could say
something about the league today or just says something about
how he still had some juice and how can put
if this dude is. I think that you know, even
though he fell short three games in a row, he

(25:04):
looked really great out there. Man, I give him all
the prompts in the world, and I want everyone to
know that. I think we need to remember that he
didn't tarnish any legacy. If anything, it showed you that
the competitive spirit never dies and he still had enough
game to look really good out there.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
Who you play matters, And I think Philip Rivers should
be proud of himself. I think a fan should love
the story. I think there's nothing to be ashamed of.
You know, It's like I've said this to you guys
in the past. It never makes sense to me. I
guess it's happened. You ever see some young pitcher make
his debut against like the Dodgers, and you're like, why

(25:41):
didn't they save his debut against I don't.

Speaker 4 (25:43):
Know, like the Martins. Let him build some confidence, YEA.

Speaker 2 (25:46):
Like to me, it's like yeah, yeah, yeah, kid, you
gotta get your first start in the NFL at Dodger Stadium,
Like I'm sorry, first started mid league baseball Dodger Stadium.

Speaker 4 (25:55):
What are we doing?

Speaker 2 (25:56):
Like to me, you you you pull out your ace
in the minors against a weak ass team, and yeah,
you don't have that luxury in the NFL. You play
eighteen You play seventeen games over eighteen weeks, and they
needed a QB Seahawks, Niners, Jags. Listen a Philip Rivers

(26:16):
talking after the game. The guy's just fun and I'm
glad he tried this year.

Speaker 10 (26:21):
Shoot again, I told you guys, I won't have any
regrets about coming back, and I don't. It's other than
us not winning, right, us not winning. It's been an
absolute blast for three weeks. I wouldn't if I go
back and say, all right, now, you know everything's gonna happen,
what are you gonna do?

Speaker 4 (26:35):
I do it all again.

Speaker 10 (26:36):
It's been absolutely awesome.

Speaker 4 (26:39):
Yeah, except for the losses. He has nothing. We got
to make that very very clear. And even for the
youngsters who you know, aren't really aware and they just
see what the story says that he came back and
lost three games. Around now he was competitive in all
three games. Has nothing to be ashamed of and major
major prompts. Dam it was fun to it was a

(27:00):
fun storyline. I wish you would have got one of
those games at Leasta, but hey, great for him, it
was a great story. We listen.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
We have more Covino on Rich, more CNR, more NFL.
We'll touch on some basketball. Someone turns, someone turns forty
one tomorrow and they look like they're playing like they're
thirty one. We'll talk a little NBA, and of course
more NFL. Where we're in the heat right now going
into Week eighteen. This week, more Covino, Rich and for
Dan Patrick next.

Live in Idaho for the Holidays ninety nine nine, Rich Davis,

(28:25):
Danny g the whole crew, Spotty Boy and Ramsey, everybody
back in LA and Rich. I think this hour we
need to have some fun, some holiday fun, because it
is the gooch of the holidays. And I also want
to call you out in something that I call the
what do I call it the sport life balance? I
guess the sport life balance I had to.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
Pull on last night.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
And by the way, last night Rock Purty Beast, I
mean East. I think we're fooled by his boyish looks,
his Wally Cleaver attitude, but now we're seeing his dance
moves and the fact that this guy plays big.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
I mean, the bears are tough.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
What about the little juke moves where he finds Yuschak
just standing in the end zone. That's play that plays.
As they even pointed out last night Collinsworth, I mean
there's a guy that Mahomes who looks like comparing him
to Mahomes of.

Speaker 4 (29:18):
Course you know what it is, Rich, Can I give
you some fight analogy and by the way, thoughts in
prayers to Anthony Joshua. It seems like a terrible story
in Nigeria. I'm glad he's okay, but apparently a tire
blew out and the driver lost control. Two were dead.
He seems to be okay, but like a horrific scene
that's developing as we speak. You heard for fet talking
about it, but we mentioned it before. A fight analogy

(29:40):
would be like rock party is unassuming. What really brought
me back to boxing and fighting again was Gannadi Glovkin
in the early two thousands, Triple G. And he was
the most like unassuming dude, but he was a badass
in the ring, like he was unstoppable, such a force
max triple triple Yeah, I punch I destroy, you know.

(30:05):
But he was the goofiest looking dude, but just fought
so tough and he seems so unstoppable. And I think
that's the thing with Brock Pardy. He really does look
like a little boy out there, and we know him
as mister irrelevant. We have all these preconceived ideas of
rock Party and who he is and what he looks like.
But when he's out there, dude, he just clicks with
the squad. He makes big plays. We have to erase

(30:28):
that and see what he's doing out there. What he's
doing out there is is highly competitive and fear sounds
too uh to RuPaul for me, give me a word,
it's uh fierce ferocious. You know he's playing. He's playing
with some some gusto and some confidence and poised noticeable poor.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
They did point that many at times last night, like
here's one guy that was your number one overall pick,
and here's one guy that was the last pick. Is
they pointed out Brock Party was chosen when they were
cleaning up to join at the very end of the draft.

Speaker 4 (31:00):
Yeah, and you know came. You got to get that
idea out. He's a bona fide star. Now he's surrounded
by stars, but he works well with them, and he's
playing big three hundred and three yards three touchdowns five total,
one one pick, but just playing big and Christian McCaffrey
and having all these weapons. But again he was he
was minus Kittle yesterday, so he looked great, dude, Props

(31:21):
to your team. They played big and I know that
you were really in the zone.

Speaker 2 (31:25):
When I get so nervous, by the way, every time
Christian McCaffrey gets tackled, because I'm like, yeah, you need
him because their game and they get nights run. I
mean you could say those factors like like a big
Trent Williams on the you know, on the left side,
or you know Kittle what he does catching the ball
but also blocking. But Christian McCaffrey that offense as much

(31:48):
as a given party.

Speaker 4 (31:49):
Props.

Speaker 2 (31:49):
McCaffrey is so key, And every time he gets hit
hard on a long run and they like someone has
to go help him up, I'm like, please, don't be
limving playing. And last night when he was stretching his
is oblique a little bit, I was like, oh please please.
So the forty nine ers do run through McCaffrey. But
last night, Covino I had to pull that sports life

(32:11):
balance move where you know we are still living our
life even though we do revolve a lot of it
around watching our big games. I have family in town,
like I have friends that are as close as family.

Speaker 4 (32:24):
And it is it's the gooch to the holidays. Now
everybody's doing their thing.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
We have people in town, and I said, you know what,
let's leave the kids at home. One of our friends
kids a teenager like your daughter's age almost, So it
was like, all right, cheeld watch your kids. Let's go
get a dinner, just the adults. And we made an
eight thirty dinner reservation because I was like, heyeay, eight
thirty seems about fair Sunday. And I football starts at

(32:50):
five point fifteen. I'm like, and even if the fourth quarter,
if the Niners are up big or down big, I
won't care as much. And I you know, well, I'll
catch you into the game at Boom. The restaurant's five
minutes away.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
That game Dragon delivered though, because that's sort of a
late reservation. You were trying to catch all the games.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
Well, yeah, they were like, you want to get dinner,
and my wife's like, how about like seven, I'm like,
how about not. I'm like, you know, your husband, look
at the shirt.

Speaker 4 (33:14):
I'm wearing.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
But but yeah, so I said, let's make the eight
thirty reservation game is there's it's we leave the house
and luckily I I immediately put the game on my phone.
I'm like, babe, can you drive. I'm gonna be passing
your princess. I'm watching during the five minute I I
left right after the forty nine ers went ahead with

(33:36):
their touchdown. Bears get the ball with like a minute whatever.
You know that two minutes left, I have to get
in the car. They walk in the restaurant and I'm like,
you know what, I'm gonna sit in the car. And
I sat in the car not longly, good ten minutes
or so by myself. And it makes you It makes
you wonder like when you do date it's my wife,

(34:00):
it doesn't matter. You know, she knows what I'm made of,
she knows who I am. Right, if you're dating someone new,
can you ever pull a move like that and expect
to get any booty?

Speaker 6 (34:09):
Like?

Speaker 2 (34:09):
Can you imagine being like, yeah, we gotta like, let's
just sit in the car.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
I gotta watch the last five minutes of the game.

Speaker 2 (34:14):
Is that something you'd do with a new person, because
then you're sort of setting the president like this is
who you're with.

Speaker 4 (34:20):
Man, That's that's a tough one because you don't want
to false advertise, you know, Like Danny, let's say this
was called the bait and switch, like honey, I'm I'm
not into watching the game, and then be into the
game like that's that's terrible, Danny.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
If I were a single guy and last night, let's say,
meeting a date and it's not my wife and I'm
a single dude, do you set the president early and
be like, Hey, I know we just met, but I'm
gonna I have to watch the last ten minutes of
this game at the restaurant or in my car.

Speaker 5 (34:48):
No, she'd also have to be a Niner fan, which
is why I say, when you're out there in the
dating pool, find somebody that loves the same teams you do.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
It just makes That's why rich only Niners dot com.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
No, See, I uh, the hot ass is way more
boring than my rooting interest.

Speaker 3 (35:05):
But I but I do think dating.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
You think that if Sarah was a Seahawks fan. My
wife's family likes the Packers. I will say, though, that
dating a woman whose family is into football does help,
Like when you when your wife or the girl you're dating.
If she grew up where her dad was really into
the game, that's a woman that sort of understands because
she was raised with that. Like my wife never once questioned, like,

(35:31):
you have to watch the end of the game. I've
had exes that are like, let's go, let's let's leave it.

Speaker 4 (35:35):
I'm not always the case. Again, I'm not trying to
debate your sentiment here. I actually agree with that. It's
it's a better situation, no doubt. But my girlfriend's dad
is a big football fan, and she still gives me flak.
I'm like, and it's my job to know what's going on,
you know. So the sports life balance is is real.
So Rich, you got to tell them what you did, though,

(35:57):
I feel like you're beating around the booche Rich and
he posted this on social media.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
It was like Kumberger, I was sitting in the I
was sitting in the car while they I was like,
you guys, go get apps. I don't want to watch
us sitting at a table in a restaurant. I just
want to sit in the car by myself watch the
last ten minutes of the game.

Speaker 4 (36:12):
My thinking was, not only did you want to watch
and I don't blame you for that while they sat
in the restaurant and ate and waited for you. But
I felt like you didn't want to, like move because
you didn't want to jinx the situation.

Speaker 3 (36:24):
I didn't want to.

Speaker 2 (36:25):
I didn't want to jinx it, but I also didn't
want to like I wanted to be able to react.

Speaker 4 (36:30):
I wanted to be able to alone in your car.

Speaker 2 (36:32):
I wanted to be able to let out a big
F like fouge.

Speaker 4 (36:37):
I wanted to be able to let out like a
like a Josh.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
You saw Josh Allen's slip reading yesterday foo. I wanted
to be able to let out a big F or
I wanted to be able to do a little.

Speaker 4 (36:48):
Fred Wanner dumb City like. I wanted to be able
to let out a little dumb.

Speaker 2 (36:53):
City or a big without looking like a MAINI I
didn't want to look like an a hole at the
sushi place.

Speaker 4 (37:00):
I was like thing, though, I don't want to give
out bad advice because you know, we believe it or not. Guys,
we do this for a living, and we've done it
for a long time, right, So that's richest sort of scapegoat.
Here is his excuse, and he's a diehard forty nine
ers fan. For the regular guy who's just a fan
to have his family going with ad him and they're
waiting around while he sits there for another five plus minutes.

(37:24):
It was more than that. It was five minutes left
on the I think I got into the restaurant. Reservation
was at eight thirty. I think I got into the
restaurant like twelve man. I was like that sort of
frowned upon.

Speaker 2 (37:38):
Well, you know, you could see this if you go
to my Instagram story at rich Davis.

Speaker 3 (37:43):
I got my kid's new Niners gear.

Speaker 2 (37:44):
For Christmas, and then I posted my little reaction video
outside the restaurant.

Speaker 4 (37:48):
I'm like, I gotta go eat.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
But it brings up a couple questions.

Speaker 2 (37:52):
Of course, your observations from week seventeen were always taking
them on a Monday throughout the whole show. As Scott
Mayer said on the chat Boss move Man, that took
stones telling your wife and family go in the restaurant.

Speaker 4 (38:05):
Yeah, by the way, please, you could see his reacty,
you could see everything we're talking about. See his ig story.
Go to rich Davis on Instagram and you can see
this guy. You know, leaving his car in the parking lot,
joining his family after they've been waiting for him because
he wanted to watch the end of the game. And
I don't blame him at all. What I would have done,
I probably would have set my phone down and joined

(38:26):
them and just had the phone on there and say, hey, guys,
I hope you don't mind. You know, I would have
used work as an excuse, or you could excuse your
fandom as an excuse, or just say you had money
on it or whatever.

Speaker 1 (38:36):
I mean, Mike.

Speaker 4 (38:36):
Mike said, dude, judge, because not everybody relates.

Speaker 2 (38:39):
Mike said, in a marriage or in a relationship, you
do have to you do have to set that standard.

Speaker 3 (38:45):
And it's not like you're the boss. But I don't
think you should.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
Hide your priorities when you're you know, like early on,
I think I was like, yeah, like it's the eighth
inning of a game, but we'll, you know, we'll run
a little late, but I gotta see if the Mets
win this one. Like, I think you have to let
your partner know where.

Speaker 4 (39:03):
You're You know where you're on the You can't pretend
to like stuff that you don't. For example, my girlfriend,
I've been aware her a long time. But when we
first started dating, we were out and about a lot,
and every time we went out, it was like drinks
and fun, and she's really fun when she has a
drink or two. And then you know, fast forward, she

(39:25):
doesn't have a drink ever, and like really rarely. No,
I never said that, but then you know what happens,
and you're I'm drinking by myself and I feel like
a loser and I'm like, wait a minute, have a
drink with me, and she's like, I don't drink them, like,
but you did when we were first going out, right,
So you also can't like pretend to be into stuff
that you're not. So just be true to yourself is

(39:47):
the obvious sentiment here, but it's it's really the question
of sports life balance. Like I'm thinking of things like
I'll call my brother in law out because he listens
to Fox Sports Radio. My brother Dan, he's one of
the biggest supporters, huge Fox Sports Radio fanatic, big sports fan.
But he'll leave a family event and family will be like, hey,
where'd Dan go? And Dan like moon walked out of

(40:10):
the family party to go watch WrestleMania with his buds.
But we know that's what Dan's into. What are you
gonna do? But that is that the sports life balance rights.

Speaker 2 (40:19):
As my wife does. My kids said, there's an expression
with kids. Now, I don't don't yuck my yum.

Speaker 4 (40:25):
Here's the kids. Let him enjoy it, don't ruin my.

Speaker 2 (40:27):
Fund if like, you know, the end of the forty
nine ers game is like emotionally crappy or awesome for me,
What are you gonna What type of wife would my
wife be if she was like, put down your phone
and come in the restaurant, Like I'd be like, I
hear you.

Speaker 4 (40:41):
You know, like you would you would. But at the
same time, dude, we also are very critical, like I
can't help but notice that my girlfriend pauses the actual
dinner to make sure she take takes pictures of her
meal because she's into social media, right, So allow that
I kind of want to yuck that yem a little bit, like, hey,
can we just eat when out the photo shoot?

Speaker 2 (41:02):
You should do when she gets her like dessert her food,
immediately smush it with your fork.

Speaker 4 (41:07):
Yeah you know, but then again, that's that's that's her.

Speaker 2 (41:12):
Has anyone else seen that trend on social media? Yes,
it's guys, guys who have women that love to take
pictures of their food. The minute the food gets there,
the guy will be in a hole and just take
their fork and like mess up the place. I will
ruin the aesthetic of the meal. So this brings up
a good question comed up because forget my dinner, forget
the niners. I don't want to make it about me,

(41:34):
but I can't be the only one that deals with
a bunch of kids sports. My kids very active, they
play a bunch of sports. And get this, my daughter
has joined girls flag football, which I'm pumped about. I
think this is a you know, good exercise, good fun.
She understands the game from watching with dad.

Speaker 4 (41:52):
Let me ask this. I don't know if it's just
in LA, but there's a lot of girls that play
just regular.

Speaker 2 (41:58):
Is this a great is co ed? I think to
ask you that because it's mostly but I think they
made a team. I think they made a team of girls.
Though the team, I think the team of girls are
going to be competing with boys as well, But they're
so young, so the the gap and athleticism isn't necessarily
there yet, so I think they could still hang.

Speaker 4 (42:17):
On you know fun dude. I mean my I have
nephews in the flag football leagues, which are really exploding.
It's an Olympic sport now as we know, but it's
it's very much boys and girls.

Speaker 2 (42:29):
Let me give you the BS I got yesterday. And
you know, I coached my kids for baseball and softball
for flag football. I told them, I was like, yeah,
I'll help out if you want, but I sort of
want to just watch my key. You know, sometimes you
don't want to coach everything you want to. Sometimes you
just want to be Dad in his folding chair and
you just want to watch and take it in. Right,

(42:50):
You don't want to you don't you don't need to
coach everything. I get to schedule yesterday and it's flag
What could we know? Football? Yes, it starts this little
winter season starts the same weekend as Wildcard weekend. There's

(43:11):
a game every Sunday in the middle of the afternoon.
Yeah and get and and this is not even a joke,
there's a game. We live on the West coast, so
the super Bowl starts at what three point thirty, right,
because the Super Bowl usually starts at six thirty six
or something East Coast time, there's a game like that
ends around the start time of the Super Bowl, and

(43:34):
I my first thought is I can't be the only
dad that's like or mom that's like you're you're putting
all these kids football games on at the same time
as the NFL playoffs.

Speaker 4 (43:46):
It really forces the sports life balance. Luckily for you,
there's something called a tablet you could bring or your
phone and watch the game.

Speaker 2 (43:54):
Yeah, well, I said, I said to my wife. I said,
she's like, you sign to rupt for this. I'm like,
I know, but I said, there might be times where
I might say I'm skipping this one, you know, my
game's on or something.

Speaker 4 (44:06):
Yeah. It's tough, man, it really, it really is. The
expectations are real, but so you never have a choice
to make. But I think the obvious choice here is,
unfortunately for you, you gotta go to the game. I mean,
you don't have to go to every game, but I mean,
like you do, you gotta go to the game if
you can, and you just bring bring a tablet with
you and enjoy I mean my AirPods and watch the

(44:27):
game and cheer on.

Speaker 2 (44:29):
I mean, you your kids more important than the NFL.
But no, you watch a whole season not to miss
not to miss the playoff game because you're eight year
old is run around missing balls. You know, it's it's
an interesting thought, but the Super Bowl was an interesting one.
Can you imagine anyone bringing their kid to a sporting

(44:49):
event gymnastics, basketball, football, flag football? Can you imagine any
event going on Super Bowl Sunday?

Speaker 4 (44:56):
Like that's got to imagine that guys who organize a
lead would know not to do that. Yeah, that seems
like a little much. It's basically a national college. Like
I remember, people come every you know, as something going on.
I remember Game seven of the World Series. I know
it's a silly analogy, but Game seven of the World Series.
My adult men's softball league, Yeah, we're canceling all the

(45:19):
games sunight because what grown man that plays softball as
a thirty forty fifth year old that loves baseball enough
to play softball as a grown man. You don't think
any of those guys want to watch Game seven of
the World Series. So I just I don't get it.
Sometimes it's a schedule maker. I'm like, do they not
live the normal life? Who?

Speaker 2 (45:38):
What person is bringing their kid to a game on
Super Bowl Sunday. I'll tell you I am not, and
I think I think.

Speaker 4 (45:45):
You could use the game as an excuse to get
out of things you don't want to participate in. To
be honest, when it comes to the sports life balance,
and it's real around the grundle of the holidays, degress.
You know that we're in right now, the space between,
because even last night it was like family fun time.
I'm with my my girlfriend's family and she's like, what
was that Monopoly card game that people like, Monopoly Go.

Speaker 3 (46:08):
Or whatever, Let's play Monopoly Gow And.

Speaker 4 (46:10):
I'm like, ah, you know, I wish I could, but
I can't. The you know, the Niners game. You know,
I'm like, I just I'm sorry, I just can't concentrate,
you know. So you have fun, though, I'll be.

Speaker 3 (46:22):
Right here anyone in thatard and play Jenga.

Speaker 2 (46:25):
Yeah sorry, there's a college but the Snoop Dogg Bowl games.

Speaker 4 (46:29):
I was And by the way, that doesn't compare to
your kids flag football game. But you know you're also
able to use it as an extend, don't get me wrong.
By a balance, I gotta let it be known.

Speaker 2 (46:39):
Watching my kid takes precedents obviously, but I'm just fascinated
that I can't be the only and I say, dad
and mom, but I'm just stereotypically saying more. Dads probably
are looking at the same schedule I am, and they're saying,
so wait, every game is during the NFL playoffs, and
there's even a game scheduled on Super Bowl Sunday. This
is flag football. If I'm signing my kid up for

(47:00):
play football, there's a very good chance I and my kid,
like you guessed it football.

Speaker 3 (47:09):
It's wild to me.

Speaker 4 (47:10):
We have a few phone calls on this to sports
life balance. It's challenging, especially around the holidays, because you're
surrounded by family too, and that's when your your habits
are exposed a little bit. Eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox. Who do we got Bruno in Brooklyn? What's up? Stop?

Speaker 11 (47:26):
Hey, buddy, gentlemen, gentlemen, Happy New Year? First and foremost.

Speaker 1 (47:31):
Thank you.

Speaker 11 (47:31):
Man, Hey, listen real quick on this thing. I think
we're the wheels have turned it. Obviously children first, I know,
with my kids be there or else. But but what's
really made is so much better, excuse me, is the
fact that you've got a cell phone now. Man, you
can shoot, you can shit watch the game and keep
on top of what's going on with your pro sports team,
primarily football or baseball. But you can do it, but man,

(47:53):
you gotta be there to the richest point. Who is
scheduling these things? They know we used to have tournaments
on Mother's Day and Father's Day weekend, okay, and that
really put a punch on, like going away and seeing
family out of the area or whatever. On another note,
real quick, I won't keep it this idea. That party
all the talking had to say, Purdy's not the real deal?
Is crazy? Party put on the show last night came

(48:16):
one of the best top shelf in the wild. Was
every time the bear scored, I said, well that's it,
and then he could write back down the field, the
guy's the real deal. And my favorite part last night
the dude was flex and after he scored, he ran
a couple, he threw a couple. Fantastic. That game had
me on the edge of my seat and I'm like,
I'm not a fan of Eager team. I loved it.
It was some of the best football I've seen them
a long Yeah, it was great.

Speaker 4 (48:36):
I said, I'll tell you what it was.

Speaker 2 (48:38):
If you love offensive football, it was great, And I'll
tell you this as a Niners fan, and we got
plenty of friends that are Bears fans. Shout out to
our buddy Carlos, our Boddy Sammy Jay, our buddy Mike Alesco,
like I know, so I know so many.

Speaker 4 (48:51):
Bears fans that hit me up.

Speaker 2 (48:53):
They were saying Carl Reinhart was hitting up Bears fans
and Niners fans alike, saying, you know, these teams can't
be stopped. That doesn't really say great things about the defenses,
though exactly like I do Wonder Will Clearly the Seahawks,
someone's got to put pressure on Rock Party.

Speaker 3 (49:09):
Caleb Williams had all the time in the world.

Speaker 2 (49:11):
I said, the forty nine ers have to score forty
points because she saw him against Philip Rivers in India
week ago. Philip Rivers had all the time in the
world in the pocket at forty four years old. The Niners,
without Fred Warner commanding that team and without Nick Bosa's
pass rush, they're they're lacking. They need to score forty
If the forty nine ers on to make a playoff run,
they're gonna have to win games scoring thirty five plus

(49:32):
in every game.

Speaker 4 (49:33):
Fact, Richidre the gambling fool. I imagine it went over
the over, No, forty two to thirty eight.

Speaker 5 (49:39):
Well we got halftime, ye time.

Speaker 4 (49:40):
I think they went on.

Speaker 2 (49:43):
Fun fact, it was the only game like ever that
was seven to seven, fourteen, fourteen, twenty one, twenty one,
thirty eight.

Speaker 4 (49:50):
I told you when the Bears had had that field goal,
They're like, yeah, they're gonna lose because now the forty
nine ers are gonna come back and score a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (49:56):
It was just so back and forth at that moment,
I thought, please, don't be now when you stall right,
it's like it's it really was a matter of who
had the ball last, because the reality is that there
was another minute in that game. The Bears win. So
the Bears have nothing to be ashamed of. Let's go
to JP in Northern Cali JP with somebody.

Speaker 4 (50:16):
Yo, good morning, fellas, Hey morning.

Speaker 11 (50:18):
I just wanted to bring up a thought. I want
to bring up the thought that you know, yes, you
guys want to set that president early when you're dating
a girl of Hey, you know.

Speaker 9 (50:25):
What, I watched my football.

Speaker 11 (50:27):
I'm sorry, but this is what I do. But there
are times right where you can go, you know what,
this first game of the season maybe second game season,
I might be able to watch it the halftime and
then we can go do what we need to do.

Speaker 8 (50:39):
But yet last night's game.

Speaker 3 (50:42):
Sorry, I went in have moved exactly exactly.

Speaker 2 (50:45):
Trust me, dude, I'm not even joking as lame as
it sounds. We went to an all you could eat
sushi spot and I was I was starving. I'm like, oh,
I can't wait to say, but I'm like, I hope
I sit down in a really good mood.

Speaker 4 (50:55):
And I did.

Speaker 3 (50:56):
But I said, go in there, order the first round,
order a bunch of appetizers.

Speaker 2 (51:00):
Let's do it. Here's my drink order. I'll be in
ten minutes. I couldn't leave my little spots sitting in
the car watching the game.

Speaker 4 (51:08):
Dang you yeah, yeah yeah. And you could see this
again on Rich's ig story. He was sitting in his
car until the game ended. The whole family was there
already ordering, already with the food.

Speaker 2 (51:21):
Oh yeah, man, give me the Shashido peppers and a
spicy tuner roll to start.

Speaker 4 (51:26):
Thank you. We have a patent rule that we've been
preaching for years, and that is you have to date
somebody for a full calendar year before you actually like
commit to the relationship that way, they see all your
habits and you know all of theirs too, because your
habits change as seasons change, as the summer kicks in
or football season kicks in. And if your significant other

(51:47):
can't deal with the fact that, yeah, man, these games
are important to me and I'm gonna be watching them,
maybe that's not the one for you. And it's not
easy to find that sports life balance

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
