Speaker 1 (00:00):
This Gentleman Being Podcast brought to you by Hello Fresh,
the Experts and Tastes that kiwis love for a brand
new entertainment reporter to tell us all the thing's happening
in the entertainment world. And Nicole Ryan is your name?
Speaker 2 (00:11):
All right, We're going live from the Big Apple to
the Rotten Apples of New Zealand Radio. Nicole, welcome.
Speaker 3 (00:18):
What's going on?
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Guys, But you tell us about yourself because this is
the first time chatting to you. We really appreciate you
coming on and talking about what's happening in America. You
work in radio in America.
Speaker 4 (00:26):
Yes, they work on Serious XM on Hits one. Our
shows the Morning Mashup, and we do breakfast radio just
like you.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Guys.
Speaker 3 (00:33):
I do all the entertainment reporting.
Speaker 4 (00:35):
And god, you've been doing this for ooh, I don't
want to date myself.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Maybe eighteen years doing your show for eighteen years? Yeah,
I mean it basically started doing it right out of college.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
So can you tell us does life get any less
bleak having to wake up at four o'clock? And then
we'll know, okay.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
And everybody always.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
Says to me like, oh, you must be used to
it by now. I'm like, no, I have a freaking
mini tant from every morning when the alarm rings, like
I have to convince myself that this is the life
that I want, and I will get up and I
can go outside even though the sun has not come
up yet.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Positive information, Yeah, driving in in silence some ways, like
name five good things about what you're about to do,
and that's that's all that pulls me through.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Well, how are things in America, because obviously there's a
massive election coming up later in the year, Trump Biden.
It's while they're a country so big, so many people.
You've got these two I to age shame anyone, but
these people, they are a little bit older.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
I mean, let's call spe to speak. We have really
crappy options. They both kind of suck. They're both not ideal.
One is like senile and one's like a sociopath, so
they're both really not good. And then the sociopath was
just convicted.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
Of some felonies.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
So I'm pretty sure you can't even work at McDonald
if you have a felony, let alone be the president.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
But clearly maybe we'll change.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
That there like a third option, Like we were only
here about two options.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
I'm going with Taylor Swift. I feel like at this point,
Taylor Swift, I mean, I feel like we all kind
of agree that she could ring us all together.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
She could fix the world.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
Now. And you're been doing your job for eighteen years,
you must have come across Trump.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
Yeah, he's been up a serious I've never interviewed him,
but yeah, he was up there when he was promoting
his reality shows and you know, running around and saying
you're fired. But yeah, Like I mean, he just used
to be like this cool, rich business guy that yeah,
you'd see at parties or at events, and you didn't
really think too much of him.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
He was just a rich dude.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
And then when I heard that he was running for president,
I was like, no, he's not.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
This is BS. There's no way this is true.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
And I ended up eating my words because it was
quite true.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
He's very good at turning stuff around. You know, like,
for a lot of people, a controversy like this, being
convicted would be the end. You'd be off and canceled.
But for some reason, it feels like he will make
this kind of work and even get more popular out
of it.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
Right, Yeah, because he kind of appeals to like the
everyday moron, and we have a lot of in the US,
and like he says things that people wouldn't normally say,
and I think some people kind of like that, like
he's not super presidential. And also he's good at just
like talking in circles. Like he just says a lot
of words and then you're just like, oh, oh yeah, okay,
oh yeah, that sounds good.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
So, I mean he's got a lot of.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
People fought he'd make the perfect radio host just saying
some words. Hopefully they make seeds somewhere along the line.
And the other thing I wanted to ask you two
about to Donald Trump, No one's really worried about the
fact that he's clearly cheated on his wife. How's Millennia
feeling about all of that?
Speaker 3 (03:21):
I don't know. She doesn't speak.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
She's sort of I mean, she might be like a
wax figure or we can a Bernie. I'm not sure
she's even still with us. It's very bizarre. I do
feel bad for her. She's very stoic, but she literally
is like a frozen woman that just kind of is
there and I don't think she wants to be there,
but doesn't really have a choice.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
She's I mean, as every day passes, she's the day
closer to the big payout.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
Our guess is maybe, Yeah, you have to hope that's
what's gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
You have to hope that she's going to get a
large sum of money and then run away and sail
off into the sunset laka after it was.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
All worth it in the end.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
During a prediction for us, you know, like the early stages,
A lot can change over the next couple of months.
But who do you see, Like, who take this out?
Speaker 4 (04:00):
I have a bad feeling it's gonna be Trump, even
though I feel like, even though like that's scary, I
just have the feeling that ever since he got convicted,
more and more people are like, no, this was wrong.
They want to prove it wrong, and that somehow he's
gonna end up in office.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
And I'm moving to another country. Can I come move there,
come do the show with us?
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Yeah, we'll fill out the immigration forms for your mates.
The hits that Jona Wan Ben Podcast.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Daddy or Pete Diddy. It's been in the news quite
a lot recently, subject of several lawsuits, including for sixual assault,
a whole lot of very serious allegations against Puff Daddy.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
Yeah, we hit to New York Now Entertainment reporter Nicole
Ryan from serious radio over there in the States, is
did he done?
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Did he is done? He is done?
Speaker 4 (04:47):
And he better keep himself very very quiet because I
don't know. I mean, I'm hoping that he's gonna convicted
of some things, but like there's just so much just accusations.
I mean, now that we have the video of Cassie,
which is horrific and like broke.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
My heart, and I think everybody's heart. I just don't
know if that.
Speaker 4 (05:03):
I think like the statute of limitations is too too long.
I don't know how they're gonna convict him, but there's
no way they're not building a whole case against him
because he's an animal.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
What happens with the station like yours, I measure you
would have played a lot of Puff Daddy P Diddy
songs over the years.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
What happens now, Yeah, back in the day, and I
mean if I mean he came up.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
I have a very vivid memory. I was telling this
story recently of him coming up.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
So he opened up the studio door, he looked at
me and my co host, and he went oh hell no,
and then he turned around and walked out. I don't
know what we did, maybe we didn't look cool, But
guess what, I'm pleased at present day that we never
had to interview them and that nothing ever came out,
because god knows, we probably would have said something that
would have like sounded incriminating.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
So so what you would mean to interview him and
he just walked into We.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
Were yep, yes, and no one ever told us why
or what. But I mean, like, I'm okay with it.
So we just laughed about it. It was like, you know,
you guys have probably crazy stories about liberties. That was
one of our crazy stories, and we were like, okay,
guess we're not doing Diddy, But I'm fine with that now.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
Yeah, people did he did do a lot of people
didn't he did?
Speaker 3 (06:02):
He did?
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Yeah, And so you feel like all the rumors that
we are hearing, which are just rumors at the moment,
there's there's probably a lot of truth to them.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
I mean I've been hearing rumors all sorts of things
regarding him and not great stories for years now, but
I mean I feel like you hear a lot of
these things with like rappers, like the Illuminati, and they've
all in this, like, I mean, you hear all this
crazy stuff and you chalk it up just the like, Okay,
it's like legend, like an old wives tale. But yeah,
I've heard these things for a long long time. Stories
(06:31):
go and then you and then you realize what happened.
I think he either killed people because those things were
gonna come out, because that's a rumor that all the
people that started Bad Boy with him back in the day,
that were there from the beginning, there's only one person
that's still alive, yes has Yeah. I mean again, this
is all a legend that he kind of took out
the people that could come out and say anything bad
about him.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Well, and it's amazing that people can get away with
it for so long. You know, Weinstein was the same.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
Yeah, I think that there's been a lot of I
don't think those types of things or people can exist
that much anymore because of social media and like people
are like and they're they're willing to talk now, they're
willing to come out and be like, this is not.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
Okay that this happened to me, and this is not okay.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
That this person in power did this, And I think
that's becoming a bit of a trend and probably for
the good.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
Oh we'll throw one more.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
Yeah, this guy Eminem because he's he's caught it back
now with an album that kind of throws back to
some original sort of slim shady Marshall mathis sounding songs well,
the Stork bron Play, Little Baby Devil with the four
times can like a swum with a forehand? Did it
prove no one's from Jersey? Seems like he's He's always
been one to kind it almost quote controversy. What do
(07:36):
you think of his new album? Do you think he's
gonna be canceled or is it just kind of Eminem?
Speaker 4 (07:39):
No one's canceling him, and I don't know why anybody's
like surprised that this new song came out and that
the rest of the album's probably probably going to be
exactly the same. He is him, this is what he does.
No one's canceling him. He's very used to quote unquote backlash.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
But again that's who he is.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
And guess what all like the kids now, they like
they could care less about him. It's all the like
the forty and fifty year olds are like, he's back.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Well, have you seen have you seen? beIN's here?
Speaker 2 (08:09):
He's actually died as here blonde. We call him Been
and him.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
Yeah, let me see. Oh you looking good?
Speaker 1 (08:16):
Thank you. Everyone's like you're having a middlife crisis and
maybe I am.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
No I did it. I mean, I don't know what
it looked like before, but I think you were great.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
And he's pretty heavy too. I was staying over here
and they've become more relevant. Hey Nicoles, thank you so
much for your time. Lovely to meet you.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
And Norris, Hey, we'll do it.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
We'll do it all again next week.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
I would love that
