explain the video? You make video versions of the songs.
Speaker 5 (00:29):

would saying the camera never left her.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
For the whole time.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
It was like, it is Katy Perry's sorry, here's Tails
SWAT's reaction to Katy Pierry. Here's a reaction to eminem
You know, it was like a camera was locked on
and she had a great types.
Speaker 4 (00:42):
She had great reactions to everyone.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
But that's why, because she has great reactions.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
But it's like, let the at least film for a
little bit and then film someone else.
Speaker 5 (00:49):
I imagine she's smiling the whole time. I imagine cheeks, yeah.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
Doing stuff.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
She looked like she had a great time. And can
I just say this is I heard this audio yesterday
because I'm again she's never been into the relationship that
I'm into Trevis Kelsey.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
Taylor Swift, and she.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Gave a wonderful shout out to her boyfriend Trevis Kelsey
yesterday when she won the Big Award with post Malone
on stage.
Speaker 6 (01:12):
I would always just hear like someone like like cheering
and like.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
Oooh, like like from across from across the studio where.
Speaker 6 (01:23):
We were shooting it, and that that one person was
my boyfriend Travis. Everything this man touches turns to happiness
and fun and magic. So I want to thank him
for adding that to our shoot.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah, beautiful, God tell us your real thoughts and feelings.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
I just was like perfectly timed.
Speaker 5 (01:44):
After that contract, Yeah, there was rumors that there was
a contract Showman's They called her that they both signed
a contract to promote Super Bowl and NFL and.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
She's the crowded just deployed screaming.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Cut down the after she sees Travis, the screaming whittle
of the age cut it down.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Well. Katie Perry was one of the other big winners,
so she.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Won the Video Vanguard Award that means she does. She
did like a big ten minute medley of all her songs,
which was amazing, but then she got up there and
she got to do a big speech Orlando her husband, partner.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Relationship thing that's done for Sheba's purpose, because of course
they are both famous people in their own rights.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
It's you would to thropple with Travis and Taylor.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Jeez, guys, don't care about you. Don't worry, don't worry.
Speaker 5 (02:33):
I love it that you're very both passionate about their relationship.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
But it's not offending them in anyway.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Katie except the award from Orlando her partner, which I'm
fine with. But she started it by saying this. Don't
you said that all on my first day of my period?
Can you believe it? Correct?
Speaker 4 (02:51):
Katie period. It was a good performance, it was.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
A great performance. And then you remember how many hits
she's got over Yeah, wow, I don't ever think she
did them all in that time.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
But yeah, she's well mid thirties. I imagine Katy Pierre.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
And you're like, like, she's thirty nine, it's about to
be forty.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
Yeah, just time goes quick.
Speaker 5 (03:11):
Then you look back at the back catalog, I reckon
she'd have fifteen bangers.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Yeah easy, Well, there we go.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
That's all the action from the MTV Video Music Award.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Taking the hits that johonaan Ben podcast colds.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Particularly down south. This morning snow forecast around the Targo,
Southland and Canterbury regions are very very cold, Megan, I
know you're on the countdowns.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Two weeks for Sunday till daylight.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Saving got a polar blast here right now now, Dave
Grohl from The Food Fighters made well made news and
then the debates kind of took over a little bit,
but it's still circulating around the news.
Speaker 5 (03:45):
Yeah, he announced he is going to have a baby
outside of his marriage. And you were saying this is
the perfect pr rollout time wise, Well.
Speaker 3 (03:54):
It's actually a boss Matt was saying it. I haven't
looked into the pr roll out of you went across
the no.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
But yeah, he dropped the news. Was it the day
before the presidential debate?
Speaker 4 (04:06):
The day of Yeah, so.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
And started talking about that instead of this, I.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Mean long we say there's the nice guy of rock
and roll, Dave Girl. So I guess this is what
comes to a shock.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
This doesn't make him a bad person. People make mistakes.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Exactly, we all make mistakes. No, no one here is perfect.
We definitely aren't saying we're perfect as well, and you
do feel for him his wife obviously, most mostly in
the family, you know, to go through that.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
So I've been through a divorce and I always after
that because it was really it's really fun, it's really difficult,
and I was like, from here on, I'm not going
to judge people's relationships because everyone comes in and thinks
they know.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
Kelse and Swift.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Yeah, I know, but I see there. Fine, if they're happy,
I'm fine with it.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
It's so defensive of their relationships, so against it is who.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
Anyone's life.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
They don't give what you think. What you think. But you, guys,
this is coming between you two. There's two celebrities you're
never going to meet. They don't even know the relationship.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
He's still rigging. He's going to meet them.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
He's going to be the wedding party.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
But the thing is, you're right, like he's we've met him.
He's a really nice guy, and he's made mistakes and
it sounds like he's made a few mistakes and a
lot of relationships. But you know, we're all human at
the end of the day, and the only person he
has to apologize to is his partner partners.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Yeah, and you you do, that's who you really do
feel sorry for.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Yeah, the people I'm saying it was a good thing
to do.
Speaker 5 (05:37):
It's a it's a doozy of a mistake, that's for sure.
But then you do really feel sorry for his wife, Jordan,
their three children as well. They're all afected by someone
else's actions such a public platform as.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Well, which is hard being you know, like his kids
and now the whole internet is like your.
Speaker 4 (05:53):
Dad, douge. Well, yeah, I know, wife Jim was like
he was, he was my favorite. No disappointed, but hey,
people screw up. That's life, that's what we do.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
But can you come back from that in a relationship,
you know when it comes to that, Because imagine there'
people listening right now that this may have happened to
and the relationships he ended, and maybe relationships haven't ended because.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
Of this, And I'm really disappointed.
Speaker 5 (06:17):
Out of all of the professions you would hope to
never have an affair, you would imagine a rock star
would be the last one.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
It never happened before, truly upstairs, When would he get
the opportunity to step out of his marriage?
Speaker 4 (06:31):
Brock stars and rappers?
Speaker 3 (06:32):
I would there goes my hero is one of the
things that's been bandied about.
Speaker 5 (06:40):
So he's still gonna sing that I've got a time
of cheap big boys.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
Comes up with this cheap dad gags.
Speaker 5 (06:46):
He's been defending Travis and Taylor comes with low brow
song gags.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
What it was the one? He's got something else to confect?
Speaker 4 (06:56):
I know? Yeah, oh you mean this one here? Sorry,
you've got another confession. So yeah, we want to know.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
We're going to talk, actually talk to a relationship expert
because we want to know CAM relationships get through this
and how do you get through this? Maybe it has
happened to you and you've got some advice. On four
four eight seven, Beyonce gave.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Jay Z's that jonaan Ben podcast.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
I wanted to know, you know, in the case of
Dave Grohl and obviously what's happened in his relationship.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
We said, a baby out of wedlock.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
CAM relationships can they survive when someone cheats? And we've
got a relationship a coach and New Zealand's leading certified
divorced separation coach on with us right now, Bridget Jackson,
good morning, Hello, Well.
Speaker 7 (07:44):
We got Meghan with us.
Speaker 4 (07:45):
Now to Bridget, we have even spoken to you with
Meghan high Bridge.
Speaker 8 (07:48):
No, Hi, Megan, you just so.
Speaker 5 (07:51):
You know, Meghan, we have an introduction for Oh yeah,
we do. I forgot about that Bridget. For Bridget Jackson.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
Never want to get.
Speaker 5 (08:02):
Divorced, but if I do, we all Bridget we always enjoy,
We always enjoy catching up with you.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Well, just thought the scenario that happened obviously to someone
way more famous than people listening in us right now.
But Dave Grohl, the situation where he's gone out and
he's had an affair and got a baby? Can relationships
get back together after this? Can they survive?
Speaker 1 (08:24):
That?
Speaker 8 (08:26):
They can? They absolutely can, remembering that rebuilding the trust
is going to be absolutely power amount. Physical infidelity doesn't
require emotional or romantic feelingsits, but emotional cheating does so.
Initially when the affair comes out to play, triggers really
(08:46):
powerful emotions for both. You know, there's anger, betrayal, shaane, depression,
guilt and remorse, etcetera. And it's usually really difficult in
the first instance to make long term decisions. What I
recommend my guidance would be that you've got to take
time apart because emotions are really hard to manage. When
the truth truth surfaces and don't make rash decisions. Big
(09:10):
one is steer clear of social media because high emotions
and the social don't mix, and both have to really
reassess what's important, what are your priorities in life and really,
in this case, considering their three children and what role
the other mother will play in their lives, because you know,
(09:31):
mending and recovering from an a fear it really is
one of the most challenging chapters in someone's life, and
I see them by practice every day.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
I've been through a divorce and I always vowed that
I would never judge people in their relationships again. But
do you think that he's shown a passion of behavior.
It's come out that he's done this before with his
other partners. Do you still think he can change? There's
the old does a leopard change of spots?
Speaker 8 (09:58):
Well, you know, there's been a huge amount, hasn't there
of public scrutiny, And it's really less about what they say.
It's about the actions and the steps that they're willing
to take and learn and own their mistakes. You know,
show up and he has done that, and it's coming
back to you willing to do this therapy as a
couple and on their own, which actually is a really
(10:20):
it's a green it's a green flag or positive step.
But as disheartening as cheating can be, past cheating, the
relationship isn't necessarily.
Speaker 5 (10:32):
Doing just can't cast judgment, can you, because no one's
in that sits We're not in the eye of the
storm there, and you never know what you do if
you're in someone's shoes.
Speaker 8 (10:42):
We aren't living lives. We don't know what's happening behind
those closed doors. And they need that time and that
privacy work through it, they really do.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
I can't imagine it's a fun conversation coming home and
telling your wife you've had a baby with another woman.
I can't imagine that's a great after dinner conversation if
you have cheated conversation wise, how do you how do
you even.
Speaker 4 (11:04):
Bring that up?
Speaker 8 (11:05):
Well, you know, they need to, They need to absolutely
fe up in the first instance, because I see situations
where people find out third hand from others and that
ends up just the conflict escalating massively. But in the
first instance, you really are going to realize that that
other person is potentially going to react in a way
(11:27):
that well escalate the conflict. But you've got to you know,
as couples really want to be in a relationship, they
will make it work regardless of what everyone else thinks.
Speaker 5 (11:38):
Right, well, so I'm really sorry, bridg You're going to
wrap it up. There are running out of time, and
thank you so much. We always love talking to you,
Miss Jackson.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
Have a good One's the johonaan Ben podcast.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
Yeah, because quickly right now, I know this is probably
a conversation that many have had over the years. But
when it comes to socks and the washing machine, where
do they go? All the dry situation as well? We've
got a little now, a little container on top of
our washing machine. I've just like single socks that I
keep going. They will find a peer.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
You hold out, You hold out hope for a miracle,
don't you.
Speaker 5 (12:15):
They're just going to emerge one day like a dead
beat dead he's been missing for seventeen years.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
I am mad, Yeah, and very really do they ever
come back? I don't know.
Speaker 3 (12:24):
If they get lost in the washing machine, do they
stick to other clothes or maybe they don't even make
it to the washing machine.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Do they make it into sleeves? About the things that
you don't wear very often all.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
But they weird, do they go?
Speaker 3 (12:34):
I've got one at the moment, just I've just noticed
it's been gone on how long before it I bought it?
Speaker 4 (12:38):
And because my life's like get rid of it. No,
it's my lucky sock.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
And it's it's a sock right here, black sock. It's
got a little green four leaf clover. I don't know
how lucky it is, but I was just kind of like, what,
it's got to be lucky because it's got a four
leaf clover on it. So I refuse to throw it
away orphaned, But I don't know where the pier are
the other pairs?
Speaker 2 (12:54):
Is that worse luck though, that you've lost your other lucky?
Speaker 3 (12:57):
You're probably right and we need to find it. We
need to start. I was singing like a tinder for socks.
You know, you've got tinder.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
For people like you can just swipe swipe right. You know, sockers,
you put up a solo soft like have you got for.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
A mats a match? We're looking for single socks in
your area.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
Let's find let's find the partner to your sock. Someone
else out there might have a single lucky.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
I've never seen that sock before in my life.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
Oh good, but you'll got like a run of the mill.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
That's what someone would say if they had my sock.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
You so what sock?
Speaker 2 (13:26):
I haven't stolen your one sock.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
Let's put a phone up on social on the hits
briefs and we'll try and find. We'll make it our
life for someone else's sock on my socke not life.
I won't make it my life mission that you want
to make it not life color. I have a friend
who does as everyone have mismatchures.
Speaker 4 (13:45):
He just puts any peer on. It drives me wide.
Speaker 3 (13:48):
I'll do the same type of sock, like if I
had another sock like that they had a different emblem moment,
But I wouldn't wear a white sock with a.
Speaker 5 (13:55):
He'll just put if it's sort of cylinder and it'll
cover his footy.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
You'll put it on. He'll put it like an InKo
sockhole with a business. Oh, it just winds me up.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
I wouldn't ever have picked you to wears mismatch socks. Like.
Someone brought me different emblems.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Some brought me some with Monday, Tuesday, Wednesdays, and I
was like, I can't even match those days. Sometimes I'm
wearing a Wednesday with a Friday. Oh god, but that's
the same time of socks.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
I don't think that you were that kind of person.
I really think you'd be moday a.
Speaker 4 (14:25):
Lot of things. But I'm not weirdly bedetic about matching socks.
I don't know why.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
At the rest of the stuff we wear a he's like,
you're concerned about his socks, but everything else it's just
like a holy old T shirt for the night.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
Did you wear a weekend sock during the week?
Speaker 4 (14:41):
Yeah, we wouldn't work.
Speaker 5 (14:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
The heads that johnaan Ben.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
Podcast, The Black Ferns over in the UK. They play
on Sunday and they met King Charles wonderful moment. They
had a hug with him at Buckingham Palace yesterday. But
Ruby Towey was having a conversation getting to meet him,
and I love some of the words that.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
She up into the conversation with the king. Guys, we're
about to legit meet the king.
Speaker 8 (15:07):
How do you feel about meeting the King of English?
Chris Pennicotta, there's a long word for a small right subject.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
How are you? Did you play rugby scrummer?
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Broke News.
Speaker 8 (15:26):
You've got enough room out they have like three rugby
fields to we're gonna have a rugby.
Speaker 3 (15:30):
Cup, calling the boss brave subject.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
She's like, enough room for three rugby fields.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
He's like, there's a lot of goose droppings out there, apparently,
so you wouldn't want to pay rugby.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
And they gave him a hug.
Speaker 4 (15:46):
I know, it was a pretty pretty cool man.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Like smile that big when they gave him a group hug.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
He's never felt the embrace of another human being.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
I mean, the king needs a bit of love from
time to time.
Speaker 1 (15:57):
You know.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
I love the hug. It was a lovely moment. Two,
that's why we love it. She's awesome. Now we've got
a great text just just through before about someone can't
make work today Friday, going into the weekend. You're like,
is this a convenient text descend or is this a
legitimate horrible thing that's.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
Happened to someone. Yeah, it's obviously a situation. That's it's
a deffication situation.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Yeah that's what Well said. Yeah, Yeah, you're right.
Speaker 5 (16:21):
The text starts by saying, please don't put me on here.
I'm a manager, but I had to text you anyway.
I've just had a staff member text me to say
that they passed wind while driving to work on the
motorway and then followed through Oh no, no, so they're
taking the work fan back home to sort things out.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Wait, they're just not coming in today or are they
going to be late?
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Well, they're definitely going to be late. I mean yeah,
I mean, would you cut? That's pretty honest text. And
I guess as far as excuses going, I'm not saying
someone's made this situation up because I don't think would
you make that such a way.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Well, you know you're not going to get follow up question.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
Excuse.
Speaker 5 (16:59):
I love it when you go I've got a specialist appointment.
You're checking specialists and no one there is no further questioning. Yeah, yeah,
have you ever thrown out I've got a specialist appointment
as an excuse?
Speaker 2 (17:11):
Yep, I definitely have, definitely have. Yeah, A good one
is Diarrhea's no further questions year on.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
Yeah, I'd rather go with the specialist, to be honest,
but I've got some options.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
Badly, you want to get out of something.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
I think I was telling you the other day that
I was trying to trying to get out of something
and felt a little bad about it and said, oh sorry,
I got something else on that date. And then they went,
that's all good. It's no, it's moved to another date now.
And no excuse, no excuse.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
Don't believe you said I could do any other day.
Speaker 5 (17:46):
I just can't do that any listen there, and I like,
that's all good this other day, and so now I'm
doing It's silly you.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
I'll tell you that, John wan Ben podcast.
Speaker 5 (17:56):
Now our boss met Anderson. She was gonna get upset
about this as well. Right, we're running a bit of
a bingo competition on the station at the moment with
bingo balls, and in the studio there's a tray of
miniature balls all lined up.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
How many would be there? Says thirty or forty?
Speaker 3 (18:14):
There fifty of them is fifty fifty balls right or allocated?
Speaker 4 (18:20):
These balls.
Speaker 3 (18:20):
He's got a spreadsheet. He send out multiple emails. He's like,
whatever you do, do not touch these balls in the studio.
It's you know, like basically if they go missing, they've
got a.
Speaker 5 (18:29):
Hands off balls policy. Generally in the studio don't. But yeah,
this one he's very tense about.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
Now.
Speaker 5 (18:35):
He's got spreadsheets, he's got everything, and so if anything
would have happen to these bingo balls, he would I
mean the other day.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
Yeah, PJ from many a PJ. She moved one and
that caused major.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Email went out, a very passive, aggressive email from Matt.
Speaker 5 (18:52):
Not touching the balls again, hands off the balls and
so yesterday you too, evil evil plan. Oh now you
put okay, Well you did well. We took a photo
of the balls and the.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Tray so we knew, we knew exactly where everything was
so it could easily be put back.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
And then we rehearsed a wonderful, wonderful performance.
Speaker 5 (19:12):
We were calling it the pantomime to be honest, I
was like, Oh, I don't know this is going to
go because you're we're across the road at the cafo.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
You're like, I'm going to come in like this. Then
I'll say this, and I'm like, this is just going
to be. So I was going to, hello, my good lady,
pass you. The bulls began.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
I was going to and then we're gonna, you know,
like not grab it properly, and then the balls were
going to scatter it anywhere. Just as our boss, Matt
was walking in for our nine thirty men never listened
to ever listen to this.
Speaker 9 (19:36):
Yeah, oh my god, you hear that you.
Speaker 4 (19:48):
The coming days? Have we done?
Speaker 8 (19:51):
And oh no, you only go before I had it.
Speaker 9 (19:56):
I want to say, Yeah, it's all I could think
about was my spreadsheet.
Speaker 7 (20:12):
All I can about was my spreadsheet.
Speaker 5 (20:15):
So that's that was a cutdown of what happened in
the moment. Oh, it felt like fifteen minutes. Ensins were high.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
Parents, you know where you just did.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
You were like, I've told you guys about this, and
I'm going up. I don't want to yell, but I'm
about to yell.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
So he did some deep breast good on him.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
He was like.
Speaker 5 (20:33):
Looking, you know when people are so angry, they start
twitching like the angers almost it just wants to burst out,
but he was containing it. It was like the equivalent
of knocking over a three thousand piece jigsaw puzzle.
Speaker 3 (20:43):
I don't know where the oscars are, but me and
I think we could be front runner.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
Yeah, how was our pantomime in the end?
Speaker 5 (20:47):
John? Actually fantastic. I was like it was deep inside
there was beautiful. So they would go, that's just winding
up our boss. Do we filmed it too?
Speaker 2 (20:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (20:57):
But I'll go up at some stage today. You can
see it on the hat spread Facebook, at Instagram.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
The hits that johnaan Ben podcast.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Into the weekend Saturday nights is going to be huge.
A fight nights going on at the Vitact event Center
which is headlined by David Nika boxer and he joins
us in the studio right now.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
How you doing. Hello, lovely to see you mate.
Speaker 7 (21:16):
I'm good to see you guys. This is awesome.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
Nice to have you he Yeah, thanks for having me.
So a couple of days out from a big fight
this weekend Saturday night. Yes, the last one you had
in New Zealand was twenty three seconds.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
It lasted for.
Speaker 10 (21:28):
Yeah, including the count, including the count to ten for
the guy that was on the ground.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
So that's a thirteen second fight for you.
Speaker 4 (21:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (21:36):
I'm hoping this guy brings brings a little.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Bit more as a professional box So obviously you're training
for months leading into this. Do you want it to
go longer than thirteen seconds? Are you happy with that result? Yeah?
Speaker 10 (21:48):
We don't get paid overtime, but obviously I need to
develop a need. I need to get into these into
the later rounds. I'm going to be fighting for world
titles in the near future. So I'd love to go
past like six, seven and eight rounds just to kind
of get that experience under my belt.
Speaker 5 (22:02):
So there's no actual like personal development for you when
you knock someone out in five second.
Speaker 10 (22:07):
Really not really when you get to throw, like I
think that was four punches threw in that fight.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
How many punches did he land?
Speaker 7 (22:14):
Yeah, thirteen seconds. I don't think you landed.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
For me, I measured.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
This is gonna sound like a dumb question, but imagine
getting punched in the face hurts, and that's part.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
Of your job. You know that's going to happen. Even
when you went fight.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
It's maybe not this one that lasted not long, but
you know it does actually happen, right.
Speaker 10 (22:33):
Yeah, I've been doing this for I've just sticked over
half my life. I've been boxing four now. So at
fourteen I started. I told her getting punched in the face.
Speaker 7 (22:41):
You can get used to it, but that's a real danger.
You're not getting.
Speaker 4 (22:48):
So inspiring. You're obviously sparring people you know, respect friends.
You have to go in there and you're like, I
want to represent off. Yeah, how's that transition mentally?
Speaker 10 (22:57):
Oh, it's much nicer when you're sparring with like guys
you like and that you're When it comes to fights,
I find it a little bit awkward.
Speaker 7 (23:03):
If I'm completely.
Speaker 10 (23:04):
Honest, I'm really bad with confrontation, which is hilarious. I
get the wrong coffee on it and I'm like, I'm
just gonna drink it.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
It want to make I'm terrible the pre the pre
fight banter, the press conferences. You're not comfortable. I suck.
Speaker 7 (23:23):
I'm just like I'm sitting there giving them more the compliments.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
More.
Speaker 7 (23:28):
My My ring name is the nice guy.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
That's good.
Speaker 7 (23:32):
I think it's fitting as well.
Speaker 10 (23:33):
I'm actually like not a douche bag, and I'm actually
quite confident saying that.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
Speaking of that, I saw recently Israel at a sign
you got approached by someone in the street, absolute d
bag wanting to have a fight with him in the street.
Has it ever happened to you someone approaching you and
be like, all right, tough guy.
Speaker 10 (23:49):
Funnily enough, never, I've never been in the street fight.
I've like, I'm like I said, I'm the first person
to like similar things down and I give I've never
given anyone a reason to want to have a go exactly. Yeah,
and like, I hope that doesn't like stir anyone up.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
I thought it was very brave having a crack at Israel.
Speaker 7 (24:09):
Yeah, so I've sparred Israel quite a lot.
Speaker 10 (24:13):
I was just I was his main spiring partner when
he fought and some silver, and I remember like working
with him and kind of I realized very quickly when
I like backed him into a corner through like a
double jab right hand, and he slipped out of the
way and then pulled my head into a knee and
it was like my life flash before.
Speaker 7 (24:30):
He has that much control.
Speaker 10 (24:32):
But like I realized and I stood up and I
was like, like I've seen a ghost. I was like,
this guy has six other limbs that I don't know.
I'm really good with these boys. He's an absolute monster
and like his his control. He would be an absolute
monster in a street fight, and like I've never been
in a street.
Speaker 7 (24:52):
Fight, would be pretty good, yeah myself, but yeah, he's
the last guy i'd pick on, you know.
Speaker 4 (25:00):
Pretty brain.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
This took Saturday night because obviously, as in Auckland, people
can watch as well on his own.
Speaker 10 (25:07):
So it's the This is the first time that design
has come to New Zealand.
Speaker 7 (25:11):
So it is a really really big deal.
Speaker 4 (25:13):
It's daz In.
Speaker 10 (25:14):
That's the global streaming platform for boxing today. That's the
biggest the home of boxing now, which is incredible and
to be spear hitting that is really really cool.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
And the fight, the fighter that you're going to fight
against was just found pretty recently because the first guy
sort of failed a drug test, right, they found someone
in like twenty four forty eight hours.
Speaker 10 (25:33):
No, he failed the drug tests about six weeks ago,
and we were we were doing everything we could to
kind of sweep it under the rug.
Speaker 7 (25:40):
We were trying to.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
Help them drink water. Yeah, here's my year on. So
what is taking steroids?
Speaker 5 (25:47):
Obviously, Yeah, what advantage does it give the other fight?
Speaker 10 (25:51):
I don't know, But this was it was exogynists test osteron.
So testosterone from an external source, and that basically helps
you recover faster, helps you build muscle. It's like it's
like the young man's hormone.
Speaker 4 (26:04):
So you can just train harder.
Speaker 10 (26:06):
Yeah, exactly exactly. I was very confident that I could
beat him, juicing or not. But we've got another guy
from the States. His name is Tommy Carpenty. He's he's
got a similar record. He's beaten formal world champions.
Speaker 7 (26:19):
He's tough, he's decent.
Speaker 10 (26:20):
Yeah, he's decent, and it would look really good if
I could just steamroll them.
Speaker 5 (26:26):
You're a true gentleman, and like we say, we can
never imagine you're hurting people in the ring.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
Yeah, you're so lovely. But you do a good job
of it. Thanks man.
Speaker 7 (26:33):
Yeah, and I'll keep doing it. I'll keep doing it.
We'll bring some world titles back to music.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
The hits that jonaan Ben podcast.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
Episode three of the podcast and there with my daughter
Siena as out today Lucy Lawless as the guest, which
is pretty incredible. I was very surprised when I'm the
celebrity booker the podcast, how are you?
Speaker 4 (26:52):
How are you harassing these people? Are you going through
social media?
Speaker 5 (26:56):
Social media, sometimes emails and sometimes tracking people down?
Speaker 2 (26:59):
And yeah it's a great GISs. Yeah, well we could
have really done with the show.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
I'm amazed as some of the people that have said yes,
as I said before, every week seeing her and myself
talked to an inspirational woman who you know, has done
some amazing things in their life and get some advice
for young people. It's a great thing to listen to
with your kids. Yeah, Lucy Lawless, Dame Melissa Carrington, Karen
Walker as well, it's pretty incredible listen.
Speaker 5 (27:21):
Yeah, you've become a full time celebrity stalker, I have.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
Is stalking quite a commitment?
Speaker 3 (27:26):
It as a real commitment. Yeah, it definitely is a
real commitment. But Lucy Lewis has seen a obviously iconic show.
You're thinking about it actually when we're talking to her,
you know, it really led the way for a lot
of productions in New Zealand, you know, Yeah, it was
kind of the first show that was made here that
went sort of international, and the first show she was
saying with two female leads way back in the day too.
Speaker 4 (27:45):
Yeah, very very unique.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
But we asked there, as we do every guest on
the show, what that would they tell themselves? You know,
at seeing his age thirteen fourteen years old, what would.
Speaker 7 (27:54):
You tell your thirteen year old or fourteen year old self.
Speaker 11 (27:57):
I think we all adults would go back into a
fitting yourself.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
It's gonna be okay.
Speaker 11 (28:02):
You know, you're gonna figure it's gonna feel tough, and
it's gonna feel scary. It's gonna be okay because as
the obstacles as you meet them, your skills and you're
understanding the world is going to help you surmount them.
So chill, bro, it's gonna be okay.
Speaker 3 (28:17):
You know you're way too good for this podcast, right,
you know that, But again, you're being so nice and lovely.
That's Lucy Lorless. You can get your episode three of
When I Grow Up podcast out? Now, what would you
tell yourself at thirteen to fourteen year olds?
Speaker 2 (28:31):
Don't obsess over Mike Roberts. He doesn't like you and
you're not going to end up with them.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
You're in love with Michael Roberts.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Mike Roberts Roberts, that's.
Speaker 4 (28:39):
An unusual question for a thirteen year old. It's like, well,
he's definitely not gonna go out if it's on the news.
That is troublesome for Mike Roberte year olds chasing him.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
No, I agree with Lucy, like everything feels like all
encompassing when you're that age, and high school as hard,
but you come out the other side of it and
then you suddenly have a lot of freedom and you
you come into yourself and.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
It's easier now or harder now because growing up, are
you harder growing up and mastered and that was that
was your world, was mastering.
Speaker 4 (29:09):
But now you what a world? What a world?
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Media?
Speaker 5 (29:12):
But there you got such your world as the world.
You know, if it's harder or easier to know.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
I'm so thankful I didn't grow up with social media
because we I grew up when texting came in and
that was enough. Like the people were bullying over texting,
so like they will always find a way, but you're
just giving them more tools. So I mean, like, I
think everyone kind of got bullied in some form. But
the bullies they go away.
Speaker 5 (29:35):
But it was good old fashioned bullying to wasn't It
was kind of like, well just after school, but punch
you in the face.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
And move on with the day.
Speaker 3 (29:43):
You know, right, you you're going to publicly state that
you're a fan of bullying, any form of bullying.
Speaker 5 (29:51):
You know, I'm going to pick bullying that just takes
place in a certain time frame between the nine.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
And three and it follows your home.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
Yeah, that's the scary thing, right, People, Like with social
media you can get talk to you know, missages all
ours to night.
Speaker 4 (30:05):
What did you tell yourself that ain't for You're not
going to become Andreas you're not, and you need to
learn that. You need to learn that pretty quick. Give
up on that dream pretty quick, and give up on
your dream of heavy hair for your entire life.
Speaker 5 (30:20):
Did the same hand, the same dream as well, a
wonderful bult for many years,
