Speaker 1 (00:00):
This Gentleman Being podcast. Hey that's us, brought to you
by Hello Fresh, The Experts and Tastes that Kiwis love.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Nicole joins us again, how you done.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
I'm doing well. How are you guys?

Speaker 2 (00:10):
We're done good.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Always like to see who you've been hanging out with
over the last week. Charlie Pooth and studio. I saw
a good looking guy's got Will Ferrell. How you saw
with you about how he could just call him up?
He's got his number?

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Yeah, like it what a flex?

Speaker 4 (00:23):
And he like threw that out, He's like, actually he's
a he's a good friend of mine. I was like,
don't just like toss that piece of information away.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
I mean, he's a good friend of mine.

Speaker 4 (00:31):
But he did get a lot of people, like a
lot of really big people to make cameos in this
new show that he's got. And also we got a
little insight into Taylor Swift calling him out in Torture
Poe's department when she says, we, you know, we declared
that Charlieooth should be a bigger artists. He said she
never called him ahead of time. They haven't spoken since,

(00:52):
Like she hasn't called to me, like thank you that's
so cool. She never called us for permission. They've just
never talked. And I'm like, so you can call Will Ferrell.
But like Taylor shouts you out in a song and
nothing crickets.

Speaker 5 (01:03):
It's weird that she wouldn't have reached out either before
or after, to be like, hey, I really love you.

Speaker 6 (01:08):
Hope you don't mind that I meet you, knew my song?

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Right?

Speaker 6 (01:11):
Nothing.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
I feel like that's like very her style, and and
if she didn't, I think it's weird that like he didn't.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Be like, hey, let me get on the phone. There
someone get on the phone with her and so I
can say thank you.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
That was really cool. I don't know, but he kind
of likes it. It's just out in the universe and
that's what it is.

Speaker 5 (01:27):
So whatever, given that you're in New York and you
see these celebrities all the time, do you have a Flix?
Is there some celebrity that you can just call that
you have on your phone? No?

Speaker 3 (01:36):
You know. I had Megan Trainer for a second, and
then that's right. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
And then like a year after, like I think she
was at an award show and I was like we
were there, and I was like, I gotta call her
and say congratulations, and it seemed that that, uh, that
the line was disconnected.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
I mean that doesn't mean it doesn't mean it was me, but.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Like I was like, so next time you talk to
her on your radio show, you'd be like, oh, number,
you didn't give me your new number, you.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
Know, so yeah, hook it up, put it in.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
That's very cool.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Now, obviously, the whole world, you know, I seem to
be talking sometimes publicly, sometimes privately about the pay Diddy,
Well what's going on with puff Daddy pay Diddy as well?
And it just seems to get messier and Missia these
lawyers talking about other celebrities potentially getting involved, but they
may not be mentioned.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
I mean, listen, I think that the powers that be
are going to do everything in their freaking power not
to let some of those names be released.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
But you never know.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
If it goes to court, which it seems like it's
going to, and goes to trial, it probably will just.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Because it has to like legally.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
But yes, I've been sitting with my friends, I've been
sitting with the guys on my radio show and trying
to figure out who this person is. We've talked about
Ashton Kutcher. We've talked about Leonardo DiCaprio. We've talked about
just like Usher or Justin Bieber because we know that
he was they were both there when they were very
young and super impressionable.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
But I mean, I think that.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
There's names that we never even dream of that won't
necessarily come out, you know.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
Because I did see the lawyer was giving them the
opportunity to basically settle. So we know that these celebrities
have a huge amount of money. They can settle, they
can put forward. This settlement has to be agreed upon.
But if someone's coming to you with millions of dollars,
we may even know.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
I Mean, the thing is like Cassie sort of like
God bless her, like finally had the courage to come
out and speak, and she might be one of the
only ones that has like sort of set for life
because they settled and then that opened up like sort
of Pandora's box, and like now they're saying that they
in the like the last week, they've got twelve thousand
calls regarding people saying that they had been a victim

(03:44):
of Diddy. So this guy's definitely not a good a
good guy. I don't think like where there's smoke, there's fire.

Speaker 3 (03:50):
I don't.

Speaker 4 (03:51):
I mean lessen innocential, proven guilty. But I just feel
like there's not that many people saying the same exact
thing about you, and it's not true.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
That's just my opinion.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
But it's just just because you've gone to a party
at his house or something doesn't necessarily mean you were
involved in anything. I'm sure there was there was some
parties that people went to that didn't quite end in
sort of freak offs and things.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
Right, they were there if you believe the room is
the freak off part maybe started at a certain point
of the night.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
Right, I think like once it's like after hours or something,
so there could have been people there enjoying, Like you
guys used to have these like bougie white parties, right,
that's like, did he started that whole thing? People were there,
they were smoothing, they were drinking, they're having fun.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Then they go and then the real freaks stay for
the freak off I.

Speaker 6 (04:33):
Mean just talking about it.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Whole thing so wild.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
Yeah, And as like like pop radio DJ's, it's very
hard to find other celebrity news right now, that's not
it's so annoying.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
And what about on your you know station in America
and other stations, like is his music being taken off
or is that innocence until proven guilty? And we'll see
what happens in the trial.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
I think we're seeing certain people. I think, like the
key to he was given, like the key to Miami
they got rid of, like they they rescinded that since
these allegations, we don't play any Diddy because it's all
like current music.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
But I actually don't know. I need to look into.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Maybe I can find out and let you guys next know,
next week, because I wouldn't be shocked if certain stations
that play on serious AXTM that play his stuff are like, oh,
maybe we should take that out of rotation for a
you know, like just not a good look.

Speaker 5 (05:26):
Yeah, And then coming out of the the did he
saw all that some yeah some prison at the moment,
Uh yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
I mean, I honestly I feel terrible for his children, like,
you know, like because then like I mean, even if
they knew stuff, like they probably didn't know the extent
of it and or probably like who is this man
that was our dad?

Speaker 3 (05:45):
You know, like that's gonna be a hard pilled as swallow.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
We got Nicole joining us from New York. We love
catching up with Nicole every week. Now we're messaging over
social media. You were saying in response, because I've been
doing the silly videos, as you know, embarrassing my kids
the chance slang enough and you were like, this is great,
and I'm like, well you should do it, and you
said your daughter would what.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Oh my god, what did I right? I don't even remember.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
I think you said, like, my daughter, would you see it?
Your daughter would murder me?

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Sorry, she would, you know why?

Speaker 4 (06:15):
Because I showed her and I was saying, this is
like one of our friends from New Zealand, and she
said to me, I would murder you, like her exact words,
like when I showed her and I zoomed in on
the billboard. She was like she had like you know
when you have like secondhand embarrassment.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
She felt embarrassed for them. So you really killed it.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
I don't know if you've reached that sweet spot in
your parenting, in a life where you can just embrace
the fact that you embarrass your kids and you actually
enjoy it.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Oh my god, there's nothing better. We were leaving to
go away for the weekend and I had to pick
her and my son up from school, and so we
were just waiting outside and I was honking.

Speaker 3 (06:51):
And with all the wind was open, I was going, Parker,
it's me your mom.

Speaker 6 (06:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
She was like mortified, And I love every second of it.

Speaker 5 (07:02):
Okay, So we want to talk about Joker, the new
movie follow d uh Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga.

Speaker 6 (07:09):
I saw it and I enjoyed it.

Speaker 3 (07:11):
Did but I did.

Speaker 5 (07:13):
I'm not a huge like Batman fans. I wasn't expecting
a huge blockbuster. But yeah, I think there's a lot
of talk that maybe it's going to lose some money.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
People walking out in movie theater.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
It is flopping.

Speaker 4 (07:28):
And the thing is, Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga are
both brilliant, like just entertainers. They're brilliant like artists right
in their own right, and I think that they probably
are brilliant in this and you can like tell me
what you thought, but like it doesn't mean that they're
brilliant like translated. And I think that there was a
lot of build up and I don't know if the

(07:49):
musical thing was the right route to go, and that
might be that's a hard thing I even thought with
Mean Girls when they went that route, like the new
amalgamation of Mean Girls being a musical, I didn't know
if that would work. I don't that everybody loves that,
so I'm wondering if that's the issue.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
But I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 6 (08:04):
And they were brilliant.

Speaker 5 (08:05):
No, I don't think anyone's disputing the fact that they
were incredible in this.

Speaker 6 (08:10):
The acting was amazing, but it kind of cruised along.
It cruised along.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
It definitely was not a blockbuster, and there's not a
lot of like Joker action, shall we say, Yeah, Like
I want.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
To see and I haven't seen yet, but I plan
on it. But I want to see them both being
like they're weird selves and like taking on these characters.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
I don't need them singing to each other. It's just
like that's my that's for me.

Speaker 5 (08:33):
And when you sell Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, I
feel like you expect to see that, right, which we.

Speaker 6 (08:38):
Kind of didn't to be honest, She's just she so
toe And at the end.

Speaker 4 (08:42):
You didn't see the Craig Cray you need money, didn't
want it and needed more Craig Cray.

Speaker 6 (08:47):
My got Jim it's a very good way to put it.
Now we have I don't know how in.

Speaker 5 (08:54):
Touch you are with the Royals, but given that Harry
and Meghan live in America, we've seen a lot of
chat that they have been doing.

Speaker 6 (09:02):
And this has been going on for years, so you
can pull water on this fire.

Speaker 5 (09:06):
But yeah, that they've been traveling a lot secretly, Harry's
been doing a lot of engagements without Megan, and there
are rumors that they have been spending time apart.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
Oh the cracks in the relationship.

Speaker 4 (09:18):
You think, Wow, Listen, I think that there's no way.
And I hate to say it because I kind of
loved this whole story that he was like screw the Royals,
like this is I'm marrying for love. I'm not doing this.
I'm not being a part of this circus anymore. But
there's no way. I thought, even from the beginning when
they were so sweet, that like this was going to
be long term. They come from two different worlds, and

(09:41):
as much as they tried to make it work, like
a lot of things flopped right, Like they made deals
for podcasts, they made deals with like Netflix, they did
all these things and it never translated, never worked.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
So I could.

Speaker 4 (09:51):
I mean, I'm hoping for the best for them, but
I would not be shocked if this did not if
this is not like a fifty year marriage.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
But to be honest, so do you they want to
go to your partner's work things. If you've got the option.
It doesn't mean there's question in the relationship. Just means that, hey,
it's your thing, you do that. I'll stay home in
my mansion in Hollywood if I was Harry you know,
or Meghan you know.

Speaker 6 (10:12):
But also I don't know.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
But there's two kids now as well, two kids at home.
Maybe she doesn't want to trape them around the world.
Maybe she doesn't leave them with people.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
No, I'm sure.

Speaker 4 (10:22):
They've got they've got enough money, they've got the nannies.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
Yeah, And I'm sure they don't want to make a spectacle.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
And like, when you're that famous and you've got paparazzi
constantly following you, you're just asking for trouble. And they
had so much like scary stuff that happened with the
paparazzi when they first came out with their relationship. But
they're probably traumatized and when they show up together, it's
that much more of a circus.

Speaker 5 (10:44):
Do you get a lot of Harry and Meghan stuff.
I'm just like Americans, they just don't care.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
I mean we care, but like surface level, like no
one's going deep like people who from England are right,
like we're not like we're not like in it. I'm
not you know, I'm not in vested in it. It's
fun to watch. It feels very like is this real life?
Like I feel like the Royals. It's like, I mean,
not to be disrespectful, but like the fact that there
are still royals in the world makes me laugh.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
Yeah, Well, New Zealand, though we always get excited by
celebrity at the moment. ConA and O Brian and the
American talk show. He's in the country. We're getting daily updates.
He's singing karaoke and small bars around New You know
that's news in New Zealand.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
That's big news.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
Yeah. Yeah, Conan's the best. He have you have you
got a good look at that hair he is. I
don't know how he makes.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
It that high.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Appends it's really tall. A friend of mine made him
briefly the other day and he's very very.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
Tall, oddly tall, oddly tall and actually a really nice
guy behind the scenes, like I thought he'd be kind
of like obnoxious, like kind of like I don't give
you hard time and kind of like like like you know, just.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Gets you a little what you really really sweet?

Speaker 6 (11:51):
I kind of got that vibe too.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
Yeah exactly, guy, Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's sweet.

Speaker 6 (11:57):
Are you a one directioner from what I mean?

Speaker 3 (12:02):
We were the first people in North America to ever interview.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
Them, yeah, and to play them, so we had them
all when.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
They were like little bits of babies.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
So I wouldn't say like I'm like a one direction
like I don't like, like, you know, stand them, But
I mean I love them all and we followed them
and they've all been up.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
We know them all individually.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
We know them all like her heart right.

Speaker 6 (12:26):
In Harry, Like I'm gonna get to my point in
a minute. But what's Harry like?

Speaker 4 (12:31):
Oh, Harry is the sweetest most like you want to
you want to like hold him like a baby.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
He's just like this charming little nugget and.

Speaker 4 (12:39):
He's so sexy and he can freaking wear whatever he wants.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
You can put what even on and it looks great.
You just posed it off and then you if I
went off you're not worrying that everyone would look.

Speaker 6 (12:52):
Jump, So I would Harry does amazing.

Speaker 4 (12:57):
Like if my if my husband ever wore what he
wore the lab that I did with him, I'd be
like nah, But with Harriet works.

Speaker 5 (13:04):
So my question is there's a lot of chat and
this has come from social media where Liam Payne's X
has been my exposing secrets of the band.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
He so Liam obviously one of one direction. If you're
not a one defen ye know? And what so what
she's exposing.

Speaker 5 (13:20):
So she has Liam has seid in the past that
there was someone who from one direction that held him
up against the wall, and she has said that person
was Zane Mallick. So she's exposing some of the secrets
from the band when they were together, plus saying Liam
Payne was not a good guy to her.

Speaker 6 (13:37):
And I don't know if that's going to cause more driv.

Speaker 4 (13:39):
I mean, listen, I'm sure it is. I'm sure I'll deny, deny, deny,
But I'm sure she knows a lot about the Skeletons.
And I mean it tracks timeline wise because they were
together when he was going through his addiction issues, right,
So I'm sure he wasn't completely being himself. I'm sure
that he was struggling, and maybe you know, we don't
act like ourselves when we're If you're like an addict

(14:01):
and deep in the throes of that, you might get violent,
you might not act like yourself.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
You might do and say things that you wish you didn't.

Speaker 4 (14:08):
So there's something about it that I'm like a kind
of believer I don't want.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
To obviously put together by Simon Cowe, very successful. We're
actually talking about Simon Cowe on our show because David Williams,
he's a UK comedian, writes books. He was on a
talent show with Simon Cowe and he told a great
story about the fact that Simon would turn up well
three hours later, they'd get a call after call time,
the audience was waiting. Simon was still in bed. Four

(14:32):
hours later, Simon was in the bath. Five hours that
eventually turn up, have a cigarette and a n iv
D rep and eventually get on stage and they had
to be waiting five six hours.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Have you dealt with Simon cow if you had any
dealings at all?

Speaker 5 (14:44):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Yeah, round then yeah, So we're just trying.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
I'm so sorry.

Speaker 6 (14:47):
I'm so sorry.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
I thought you were like I was telling a little
story and you're like, yeah, cool story, and you left.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
No. Sorry, that's right.

Speaker 4 (14:56):
Yeah, something wrong on my computer, so I have no video.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
But let's just finish that.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Basically, I was telling along with this story about somon
Cow but it's all right, and ended with have you
had any dealings with Sarmon Cow?

Speaker 2 (15:08):
Yeah? I I your time.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
Oh gosh, I think he might have been up once
we had Randy Jackson, we had paula duel, like when
idol was like American Idolies was was new, but he
kind of stayed in the background, like he didn't like
to do a lot of the press because he was
too busy, like bragging that.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
He had put them all together, right.

Speaker 5 (15:30):
Yeah, or he's a not a very punctual man.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
Yeah, yeah, not very We've got a great story about
how he keeped around wedding this sort of five six
hours every time they were filming in the UK.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
I mean we've done that before. I've had it with
multiple celebrities. I've had a boss that made me stay.
I've just upped and left when I'm like, I mean,
like it's just disrespectful, Like my thing is I always
when we have a celebrity, it's coming.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
You would never you would never be late for live.

Speaker 4 (15:56):
Television, so please don't be late for my live radio show.
It's right, I mean, and yeah, I mean we had
Christina Aguilero was super late, just and temper Lake was
super late. Mariah Carey left us waiting for four hours.
It's rough, and it's like, do you this is a
transactional relationship. I want you on my show and you
want to promote your stuff, so please be you know, polite.

Speaker 6 (16:17):
Yeah, just let's we don't have visuals. We're still lot.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
It's very rare. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we understand.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Oh and Nicole, well, thank you so much for your time.
As always, it's always great to catch up with you.
And we'll do it again next week.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
Yes, absolutely, guys, have a good one.
