Speaker 1 (00:00):
This Gentleman Being Podcast brought to you by Hello Fresh,
the Experts and Tastes that Kiwis love.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Welcome to the.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
Podcast on a Tuesday morning. We'll find show today, Megan,
we each take huge risks with our Mariah Carey game, don't.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
We scrolling on TikTok for a minute? Which is social
media is the one that seems to be getting people
out the most. So we took a risk and we
both scrolled on TikTok for a minute.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
What does your algorithm say about you?

Speaker 3 (00:26):
I had lots of swearing, as like full on swearing,
which is weird.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
I definitely pushed a lot of commercials my way. I
feel like I'm a sucker for commercials. You probably on
those people there, I used to because I used to
write ads.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
I probably watched commercial.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
What's what's in the line to watch it?

Speaker 2 (00:41):
So most people moving?

Speaker 1 (00:44):
So yeah, so we get we get to take a
high risk. Not much reward for this today. But are
we still we both still in? We'll find out today
on the podcast, as well as our not review of
Wicked the movie.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
We're not allowed to do that.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
We saw it, but we're not allowed to say anything otherwise.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
We'll be loked up in the Land of Oz with
some flying monkeys or something like that. So we don't
say too much about it, but we want to say
lots about it, but we can't. But that's all on
the podcast today and now Christmas. You were saying before,
what it's.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
Not Mariah geez or is it Mariah hi? It's me
out of the game, as Mariah simply mean.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
Now we're playing the Mariah Carey game with just over
thirty sleep still Christmas. You can play right now. You
can start even if you haven't started. All right, that's fine.
You can join in. Basically as soon as you hear
Mariah Carey's all I Want for Christmas on social media,
in a store, wherever you are, you're out of the game.
So hopefully you can avoid it for as long as possible.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Yeah, we're not trying to be grinches. We also love
the song. It's just the most iconic Christmas song that
we thought would be the hardest to avoid.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
And Christmas the Farmer's Santa Parade this weekend too. It
feels like Sunday if you and I are still in
the game, but that's the day it's going to be over.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Have we got clarification on what our float song is. No,
not like its float plays one song the whole parade,
and it's always a Christmas song, but we don't know
what song it is.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Because if people are playing our game and we're going
along with hundreds of thousands of people, they're all out.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
We're just getting give everyone out as we go along
the parade.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
Oh kind of mean from us?

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Great great so today because the two of us are
in still before the show, we each came into the
studio by ourself with producer Ali and because who she's
out of the game to go one minute through social media,
just scrolling to find out if forget to Mariah Carey.
Now you're going to play back, you'll one minute now
if you if we do hear Mariah Carey, what happens.

Speaker 3 (02:34):
If Mariah Carey plays in this one minute scrolling it
has been beeped out. Okay, so only I will be
out and you will be safe if you're listening.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Okay, So so I don't even know how it went.
This is you megan with producer Ali before the show.
One minute on TikTok, scrolling through to see if you
it's high risk, high risk, you could be out of
the game after this.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
So Ben has left the studio. I've got producer Ali
in here, is well adjudicated to make sure I don't cheat.
Yes on TikTok starting the scroll. Now great, someone doing
a dance, a weird dance.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
This is what I mean.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Okay, yep, we're fine.

Speaker 5 (03:22):
Said really, inter just watch how many sweat trips?

Speaker 3 (03:26):
Okay, So this guy talks about sweet trees, the sweet
that he's having every taste Anthony vulgaric. Can I just
put a shout out to Anthony Volga?

Speaker 5 (03:36):
I will do what I want to see.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
You came rock dance. Okay, yep, we're fine. How long
have we got through one way? Like confronting when you
go through your algorithms, well.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Done, you're still in the game. No, Mariah carey all
I want for Christmas popping up? No Christmas on your
algorithm although three swear words, apparently.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
We're to get it out. That's produce. Ellie's telling me.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Three very full on sweirwards. I don't know what it's algithm,
but no Christmas at all.

Speaker 6 (04:18):
The heads the jonaan Ben podcast.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
A song that we're not playing at the moments, along
with Chapel rowe anyway, Mariah Carey's all I want for Christmas,
because this versio a lot for Christmas. And unfortunately that's
all you're going to hear at the moment because we're
playing a game.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
As before.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
Oh god, it's so bad, it's so bad.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
It's so bad. I'm terrible, But we are.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
We trying to play a game where we sing how
long we can go without hearing Mariah Carey's all I
want for Christmas? As I said before, social media, shops, stores, gyms,
if you hear it anywhere, you're out of the game
and you can join along, you can play.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
Yeah, And Christmas parades are starting. We've got the Farmer's
Sanda Parade. We are on a flow. This weekend's been
like I feel like we're definitely gonna hear it.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
If you and I are not out by the weekend,
it feels like Sunday we're going to be out. But
earlier in the show, we did something pretty risky. Before
the show, we each beent a minute by ourselves with
producer Ali in the studio, scrolling through social.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Media on TikTok.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
Now that's where most people have kind of fallen victim
from the game.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Now, heads up, mine. I went for a minute and
I haven't heard it. I'm not out of the game.
So I managed to scroll through TikTok for a minute
and not hear it.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
I had to do the same thing after you. Now
we're not if I do hear Mariah Carey in this
one minute, We're going to beep it out so you
don't hear it. You won't be out of the game.
But here's me scrolling through social media for a minute. Okay,
I'm nervous. One minute, TikTok. Time starts now here we
go TikTok. Okay, she sprang perfume in the air. That's
not Mariah Carey's Jason remark.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
Okay, I can I watch that.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
I'm all about eighty twenty so I love having a
sweet tree tonight.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Okay, you're moving on, Chris Martin.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
I'm getting a lot of cold play in my feet,
of course, a lot of cold play here again.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
Good just making my way.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
It's see you talking to podcast.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Okay, here are three reasons why.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Adverversal and so far I'm going to join the heads
Stan Walker doing a singing challenge. Okay, suspect has no neck,
and there's a.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
Lot of suspect things as well.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Okay, yeah, class x uh William wido Oh yeah, okay,
carry on, no leaving head.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
It's like that, you wouldn't steal a car. You wouldn't
steal a Yeah, I did it. They've got that old music.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Kendall's not here because.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
I've done it. Oh my goodness, he's done us. Yeah
what a weird algorithm. But anyway, I've done it.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
I got one D three in the personal cared bre
no leaving get three airs in one minute. Yeah, a
lot the world ride too, because you're just like anyway,
So we're still in the gate.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
No Christmas content for you? What's are we?

Speaker 1 (07:12):
No, hasn't he feared with me and my algorithm right now?
So yeah, so if you're still in the game, we'd
love to hear from your four four eight seven or
oh dred the hats. Are you still in or you're
still out? And when everyone is out of the game,
then we can start playing. Mariah carries all I want
for Christmas, and there's.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
No I don't want otherwise we have to deal with this.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
I know, no one.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
I kind of like.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
The backing singers that we've gone on that track. No
one's working harder.

Speaker 6 (07:39):
Than them, the hits that jonaan Ben podcast.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Another story was reading It feels like an only in
America situation. A guy and a bike got hit by
an ambulance. Oh God, and then they'd take him to
hospital in the ambulance that hit him, and then he
got charged for the ambulance ride. You know we need
charge for ambulance in New Zealand is the one that

(08:04):
you can waive this Actually, on this occasion it was
our fault that you're in the I get it. They
normally you have to pay for it, but on this occasion.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
There's someone else in the ambulance. Slave, do you have
to cuddle up on the gurney else?

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Maybe that's sweat. They're going around looking for work.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
They're like, slow, day, I can hit this guy and
then yeah, so he's all right now apart from the
fact that he's got to pay a large bell from
an ambulance that he was fine before the ambulance came along.
Now we're doing the Mariah Carey Christmas Game. It's a really,
really fun game to play, and it's amazing how many
people playing along with us.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Yeah, it's one basically Mariah Carey's iconic song All I
Want for Christmas is you. You've got to try and
avoid it. That means you're still in the game. As
soon as you hear it, you're out. Now. It has
to be Mariah's recorded version, but it's playing on TikTok,
it's playing in supermarkets. It's hard to avoid.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
This is Mariah's time of year, right, this is where
she's stored.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
She pops out, she's making her money.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
And you don't know where to expect it, you know,
you go every time I go, like to a shop
or a mall, I'm like, this is it. There's nothing
you can do about it. Well, and but the other
day and christ Chitch, weren't we and I was like,
it's going to happen. It's going to happen, and we're going.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
To be on a very a station that would play Mariahkiri.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Yeah, yeah, but fortunately we're both in the game.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
Or am I that's my version?

Speaker 7 (09:21):
All right?

Speaker 2 (09:21):
I shall we go to the phones and find out
people are still in there?

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Still out?

Speaker 6 (09:24):
All right?

Speaker 3 (09:24):
Good morning, Jackie. Are you still in the game.

Speaker 8 (09:28):
I'm still in still in the game.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
Have you had any places you've been to you thought, well,
maybe this could.

Speaker 9 (09:34):
Be it.

Speaker 7 (09:36):
Just trying to avoid the more.

Speaker 8 (09:37):
It's amazing how much money you say when you don't.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
But I always think you could just go there and
put headphones on. And do you look obnoxious if you're
walking through a mall with headphones on listening to your
own music?

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (09:51):
Yeah, big, sort of like ear muffs that you'd use
for lawnmo maybe, but we but you could do it
each of their own. Let us know when you're out,
but hopefully it'll last longer than us.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
Thanks Jackie, all right, good luck Jackie and Kylie. Are
you still in the game.

Speaker 10 (10:08):
Yes, I'm very much still in the game.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Have you had a.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
Hearing moment where you've been somewhere and you're like.

Speaker 10 (10:13):
Oh, well, yeah, I don't. I don't frequent the malls,
and if I had to go in there, I would
be moving pretty quickly. And then as far as the supermarket,
I'm a big cautious about the supermarket. But it's mainly
around social media, so you know, I looked at Instagram

(10:37):
and things like that and heard that a lot of
people had dropped out via instance, so I just literally
look at friends stories and don't scroll.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Yeah. Yeah, and sound off is a good thing, you know.
Although John I clicked on one, he watched it is
like this will be fine. Clicked on one it had
Mariah Bam out of nowhere.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
But it tells you down the bottom of a lot
of these things. What soundtrack is playing. It does right
on you and check what the soundtrack good. It could
be good. It could be giving people like a bit
of space, a bit of time off social media.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
True, Actually mean you're right, well, let us know when
you're out.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
Okay, yeah, totally coming through. I'm out of the game
because apparently and apparently you know and inverted commerce because
it was playing in the shop that was then with
my daughter. I never heard it, but she told me
I'm out. I feel like you could stay in the
game the potentially if you didn't hear it.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
So it's playing, but you didn't.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Look like you're out. Afterwards, know that.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
You're out played more. You were there just because you
didn't notice talk and you're like, I didn't notice that happened.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Okay, Well, Megan saying you're out, I'm saying you're stone
but holes, but you didn't.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
And you played it to you in your sleep, would
you be.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
Out you work out the next morning?

Speaker 2 (11:53):
What I played?

Speaker 3 (11:54):
Because I was asleep, I didn't hear.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
That's okay.

Speaker 6 (11:56):
You the heads that John and Ben podcast sometimes.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Bit treat well most of the time. Her bitteres kind
of read like loved mum and sister to blah blah blah.
And it's pretty stale. Right.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
Yeah, it's not saying they weren't loved, no, but they all.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
Kind of read the same loved and devoted, loving and devoted, yeah,
blah blah blah. But two guys in Australia took it
upon themselves to write it's something different for their mum, sadly,
Jenny Kelly, she passed away on the twenty eighth of October,
and they wrote into their local newspaper. This has since
gone viral. Wild and Wayward mother died on the twenty

(12:33):
eighth of October. She refused to say past. We spend
most of our lives compensating for our upbringing, said Jenny.
She believed that exposing youth to religion was a form
of child abuse. It was impossible to watch the news
in her presence due to her vocal outrage at the
way the country has run. She held John Howard in
particular contempt. Sounds like, yeah, mum grew dope, never wanted

(12:56):
to leave a party and gave up champagne or jin
frequently but never simultaneously. Sounds like my kind of girl
who at teams at responsible parenting or grandparenting were always touching.
She said Sean was a much better driver than Chris
News on What's next to follow Bring a shovel.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
That's really cool.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
We know more about Ginny from reading that.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
My personality.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
I remember actually my grandma, who was, you know, like
a really funny lady. She was was my granddad's funeral
and I was standing next to her and she even
found like a laugh and this horrible day, you know,
and someone came over and was like, Olena was wonderful.
He was so down to earth. And this is just
after we buried him. And she realized she was like, well,
he's literally down to earth now. I was like, oh
my god, you just make a joke to a husband's funeral.

Speaker 6 (13:46):
But yeah, the Jonan Ben podcast.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
I know this is gonna seem stupid to some people.
I know, but I don't do a lot of things
by myself, especially after I've had kids, so I'm usually
always with my kids. I'm here with you guys. There's
not a lot of time for me to do things
by myself these days. But I've never really been a
hugely solo person. Yeah, and I also wear make every

(14:12):
single day. So when we were in christ Church.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
I was on us where I was like, you fix
yourself up a little where. You know, John's always saying cameras.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
Everywhere in this bunny job. Now you think you'd be
safe and radio, but not anymore.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
What's the thing When you first start doing radio, everyone's like, oh,
you can do it. Have to work and your pajamas
in track beds. Not that we would do, but this
is like cameras film you the whole time. Yeah, photos
you take, but you look terrible.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
Yeah. So it was about eight o'clock at night and
I was like, do you know what? I was ready
for bid. I was at my pajamas all reading.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
You're like, I'm going to go back to We'll go
back to our rooms. You're like, I'm going to have
an early night, my away from the family. I'm going
to have a bit a big week. You've been at
cold Play, You're like going to have an early night.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
Yeah. And then I realized we were staying really close
to a really famous gelato place in christ Church, which
you'll know if you live in Christchurch, Rollic and Gelato.
So I was like, I really want one, but I'm
not going to go and put a whole face and
makeup on.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
To get a sweet treat.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
And do you know, I've never gone and got an
ice cream or like a treat, even by myself. It's
always been like a social thing. So I was like,
I got in my head about it. I was like,
I can't go and get an ice cream by myself.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Because we've talked about this before, Like I do like
to go now and again and go to a cafe
do some work by myself on the laptop of fine,
like I can get quite focused and do that and there.
I don't know when I'm how long I'm allowed to
stay in there all those things before I'm like, you
should really buy another hot drink, but you're like, I
have never really done that.

Speaker 3 (15:35):
I did that once recently and I loved it. So
I was like, oh, come on, you can do this, girlfriend.
And then I went down the stairs, plucked up the carriage,
went to the door of the hotel and as I
went to go out, people walked past, and I snuck
back into the hotel and sat back down on the
couch and was like I had to pluck up the
carriage because I was walking outside with no makeup on

(15:56):
by myself to go and get an ice cream. And
it just like got the anxiety gone on top of me.

Speaker 6 (16:01):
Well, yeah, and.

Speaker 2 (16:02):
It's good you went through with that, which is awesome.

Speaker 9 (16:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
Are you worrying more about like running into someone to
talk to someone or just.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Like yeah, right, I was worried that I was going
to run into people to talk to them, and then
I was worried that when I got to the Jelata
shot there was going to be a heap of people there,
but neither happened. They got my ice cream and it
didn't feel to me. It felt a bit weird eating
and ice cream by myself because it feels like a
social event.

Speaker 2 (16:25):
But I did it yourself.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
There's gonna be people that are like cool man, but.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
We wanted to know this morning. That was awesome that
you did that.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
Like I saw that you put that on social media,
and I much like it was a big thing for
you to kind of.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
Get out of A woman said the same thing. After
you've had children and stuff, you don't spend a lot
of time alone, so sometimes doing things by yourself can
be a little bit overwhelming.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Yeah, so we wanted to know this morning, like me again, like,
what's something that you do by yourself? Well, have done
by yourself? Like people that travel by themselves and say
the world, but that's impressive. People go to the movies
by themselves, concerts. Brinn who works on the Night Show
which is by itself the other day, Yeah, you know,
which is an incredible thing today.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Yeah, what are you doing by yourself that usually people
would probably do in a group all with other people.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
I love to hear from you this morning.

Speaker 6 (17:13):
The hits that JOHNA and Ben podcast fresh.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
Off the back of Megan heating out alone.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
You know they do those shows on TV, don't they
well alone where they're away for like two weeks in
the wilderness by themselves with nothing.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
Oh, I mean I went to get ice cream by myself.
Talking about it on the radio, I feel ridiculous, but
in the moment I was quite anxious about going out
by myself.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
Get and good only for doing it. I was actually
really proud and you did it. It was cool because
I know that you don't do those things that often. Yeah,
it was really cool that you did it.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Yeah, and we wanted to know Andrew. Hat's four for
it's even one of the things that you can do
or do.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
What can you do by yourself?

Speaker 2 (17:53):
A little bit?

Speaker 3 (17:54):
But I'm with you. I'm with you, Kara, Good morning,
How are you this morning?

Speaker 9 (17:58):
Good morning?

Speaker 3 (18:00):
Now? What do you do by yourself?

Speaker 11 (18:04):
Pretty much?

Speaker 9 (18:04):
Everything?

Speaker 3 (18:06):
So you think I so ridiculous, don't.

Speaker 9 (18:08):
I mean, I'm single, I'm in my fifties. I live
by myself. I've just come back from a trip to
Iceland or by myself. Yeah, I quote often go to
the movies by myself. I'll go to restaurants by myself.

(18:29):
I just, I mean, that's too short to sit around
and wait for someone to go with.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
I know, you're right, You're right, It's just it's hard
for me. I've always had someone holding my hand. Gara.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
What's because I've done it a couple of times to
work by myself, and I actually find that you talk to.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
A lot more people.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
It really pushes you out of you know, like you
go up and talk to people, you kind of make
friends and things like that.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
You chat. Do you find it slow that when you travel?

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (18:55):
Absolutely. I mean Iceland was interesting because I was sort
of you know, I had a camper and I was
sort of buy myself in campgrounds, but you'd sort of
stay hi to the people next door and have a
chat to them. It was interesting. I don't feel like
I met a lot of Icelandic people. I spoke to
a lot of other tourists.

Speaker 3 (19:12):
Yeah, I just keep bored with my own company. I
think you're obviously very just comfortable in your own company.

Speaker 7 (19:20):
Yeah, yeah, I mean.

Speaker 9 (19:21):
I'm probably a bit of an introvert. So yeah, you know,
if I end up in social situations for too long,
I need to go home and decompress.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Yeah, for enough.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
Oh you know what you're laing.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
He oh, thank you very much for sharing that with us.
We appreciate it.

Speaker 9 (19:36):
You're most welcome.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
Someone went to cold Play on the tech stule stuff. Thanks.
Someone that's doing exactly just that cold Play Saturday night
in my late sixties by myself.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
Leslie got on, Jennifer, what are you doing about yourself?

Speaker 12 (19:50):
Okay, just like I'm the previous person, I just do
anything by myself. If there's nobody else around, then it's
able to come and do it or not interested to
do it. So yeah, I went to Coldplay by myself,
Kiddy Swims by myself.

Speaker 13 (20:06):
I and my.

Speaker 12 (20:07):
First time I really did anything by myself. I was
sister and it was kind of like my Iwi and
I bet packed around Australia for about Wow.

Speaker 4 (20:16):
My, yeah, it's something I want.

Speaker 7 (20:20):
To do with there is nobody else to come along.
It's just that doesn't stop me.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
That's good, you know, because sometimes even you know, I
find that in relationships with friends, not everyone isn't do
the same thing, so sometimes you end up dragging someone
along as something that they don't really want to be anyway.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
Everywhere.

Speaker 2 (20:37):
So you're like, just do it by yourself and you're
gonna have fun by yourself.

Speaker 13 (20:41):
Yep, exactly.

Speaker 12 (20:43):
I know that you do tend to end up talking
to other people, whereas if you meet with somebody, you
might stick with your conversation with the people you've gone with.
But I've met amazing people on the trips and we're
not gone to the country where it's not the language there.
I know I will join a tour and I've met

(21:05):
amazing people that I'm still friendly with, still in touch with,
So then it's one of the advantages when you just
go off and do it by yourself.

Speaker 3 (21:15):
Jennifer, do you know as she was saying that, though
like I literally have anxiety about talking to people.

Speaker 9 (21:20):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
Oh no, it's not for me.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
Maybe there was a small step going up with Gelato.

Speaker 6 (21:27):
Yeah, myself, the Jhona and Ben podcast.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
To know what you have done alone, there's some great
text and calls coming through.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
Some people are doing like full on travel by themselves alone,
which just fills me with treat.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
But it's awesome someone that travels in North and South America.
Someone went to crowded house by themselves. None of the
mates wanted to go, and the husband busy working.

Speaker 4 (21:51):
So are we.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
I went and got ice cream by myself, which I've
never done before. That sounds stupid, I know, to all
of these people, but I like to when I'm doing
something fun, I like to expect with someone. So even
going to Wicked last night, my husband couldn't come, but
he loves musical, so I was like, I wish I
could have experienced it with him, to see his face.
You know.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
It's just but then if I guess if he's like,
I don't want to go, and then they shouldn't stop
you from wanting to go. True, you know, And that's
what I guess these amazing people are doing. They're just
going out and doing these things.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
Yeah, Sam, good morning. What are you doing by yourself?

Speaker 14 (22:23):
I traveled around Europe and lived in England. I moved
to England when I was twenty one for a couple
of years. But then I'm also on the other side
where I get where you're coming from. And I would
not go to the movies by myself because I think
that would just be like totally shame like self conscious

(22:44):
going by myself, and that filled.

Speaker 8 (22:47):
Me with fears.

Speaker 7 (22:48):
But I moved across the world and didn't know anyone
and so just made friends like that.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
Movies is the time that I guess in some ways
you don't talk to anyone, so it does seem like.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
The most social saying. But you're right, I've never done
a movie by myself for all of those reasons, Like
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (23:06):
That fills me with fear of like people people knowing me,
even in like not even in my town, like just
in New Zealand. Yeah, but then I'd do anything overseas,
like I had my twenty second birthday in Rome.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
Oh my god, amazing. Well it was great. You're still
more adventurous than I am. Sam, Thanks for you call Tagan.
What are you doing by yourself? Morning take in?

Speaker 6 (23:30):
Oh?

Speaker 11 (23:30):
Yeah, sorry, Hi?

Speaker 3 (23:32):
What are you doing about yourself? On my own?

Speaker 11 (23:35):
I have traveled to sixty two countries, I'm most of
them on my own, and so everything that I've done
while I've been traveling so countless, you know, boards and
adventures and gone to mitchell and Star restaurants, gone to movies,
gone to shows, all of my own arm and now
I'm currently apparenting a two year.

Speaker 14 (23:53):
Old on my own.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
Yeah wow, So sixty two countries by yourself.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
Yeah well ah, so what like a times you felt
like you wanted someone with you or like, was just
the experience by yourself just incredible?

Speaker 12 (24:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (24:08):
Not really.

Speaker 11 (24:08):
I mean, like if you tell yourself like, oh, this
would be so much nicer with someone, then you'll feel
that way. Whereas if you look at what you're you
know you're looking at, and enjoy what you're enjoying and
appreciate it for what it is, it's actually sometimes better
when you're on your own because you can really be
in present in the moment and enjoy what it is
that's in front of you as opposed to have to

(24:29):
be thinking about someone else and engaged in conversation and
all that kind of stuff. So yeah, I actually really
really loved solid drivel.

Speaker 3 (24:37):
And then I can take videos and stuff and put
it on social media area the way everyone can see
what I'm doing and be jealous, right, missing the point.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
That's kind of it's a good point.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
You can do that as well, shares what are you
doing on your own?

Speaker 10 (24:50):
I do most things on my own, just from my job.

Speaker 13 (24:54):
I'm always with people, talking with people and all.

Speaker 7 (24:56):
That, and I just after I have to work days over,
I just want to.

Speaker 11 (25:02):
Be online and just do nothing, don't talk.

Speaker 8 (25:05):
Just be in my own space.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
Yeah, I see that.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
Well, some people like that, and it's nice to have
a balance. So I think a lot of people do.
Like there are alone time as well.

Speaker 8 (25:14):
Ye yeah, no, it's amazing.

Speaker 6 (25:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (25:17):
I can go anywhere and by myself.

Speaker 8 (25:19):
It doesn't worry any whether I would with someone or
by myself.

Speaker 3 (25:23):
Just seize about me.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Maybe we should put you on a kon tiki or something.
Me again, you know that.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
Fills me with dream because I know not I have to.

Speaker 1 (25:29):
I remember, it's the first the first day or so,
a couple of days. I say that the kids, if
you have then anxious about school, camp or something like that,
you're like the first day and then after that you
get through the first night normally and normally you're sweet.

Speaker 6 (25:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
Well, I mean, yeah, most of these people should have
inspired me to do something by myself. But I can
tell you it's not going to happen.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
Well, let's do something. It's organized something. It's organized something
for you. What's something over the next couple of weeks.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
The movies, I guess could be a good stepping stone.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
Yeah, well, you go to the movies and go see
Working again. You want to see it again?

Speaker 3 (26:00):
You do want to see it again?

Speaker 1 (26:01):
Yes, you can have the night out.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
While we organize that.

Speaker 6 (26:02):
Megan can have the night out the heads that johnaan
Ben podcast.

Speaker 1 (26:07):
Kind of i'ming an a ring whether I should talk
about this or not, because I don't want to say
something that looks like I'm I guess bragging in a way,
because this is not the intention of what the conversation is.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
It's a humble break, well, a humble brag. I just
thought it was kind of like a story though, something
that happened to me in the weekend.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
It's kind of really affected me, I guess, since I
had this conversation. So I went to the supermarket over
the weekend to my weekly shop as a normal do
it saw me me by myself, and I kind of
had a moment where I stopped because someone was hanging
around the alcohol section. You know, when you think something's
got about to go down. You're like, someone's acting a
bit strangely around the alcohol section. Looks like maybe they've
had a few drinks. Something's going on. They had casts

(26:44):
the wine of Like are they going to be stealing this?

Speaker 2 (26:46):
What's going to happen? I was kind of just stopped
from afar, just going is there a situation about to unfold?

Speaker 6 (26:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (26:52):
And as I was doing this, this lady sort of
came up to me and she's like, oh, hy you're
from John Oan Ben And I was like yeah, and
she was like, hey, I just wanted to say to you.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
And I was like, oh, here we go.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
You know, normally this is like not going to be
a good conversation. Yeah, she was like, I just want
to say how much your TV show meant in my life.
And this doesn't normally happen like you've been with me lots.
It's not what this happens on a day to day. Yeah,
normally people don't know which one I am which one
is not.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
And I was like, oh wow, thank you.

Speaker 1 (27:23):
And she was like, like a few years ago, she said,
my daughter got diagnosed with cancer. And she was like
she was in the thirties and it was a pretty
tough time, and she said that we would we would
sort of try it. We'd have a full on conversation
about you know, medical stuff and all that stuff, and
then we'd look for some relief and we'd google you guys,
we'd go on to YouTube and we'd watch your skits

(27:44):
and that would give us some sort of laugh and
I was like, I was kind of like, I don't
know what to say. I was just like, oh my god,
this is just this. Yeah, it was quite quite really
taught me back. And I was like, oh my god,
that's that's amazing.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 1 (27:55):
And she's like, yeah, it just gave us, you know,
some light relief, gave us some laughs, but an escape.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
And I just thought that she was like if I
ever saw one of you in real life.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
Oh, I would come up to you and tell you that,
because I wanted to tell you that, and you'd have
no idea that this meant something to you, and and
I was like, I'm thank you for sharing that with me,
and I was kind of a bit stunned. I didn't
really know what to say because I'm not used to
compliments like that. And then I was like, I hope
you thought it was a right and she's like, well,
sadly she passed away. Oh god no, and I was like,
oh my god, that's but she was like, I just

(28:25):
wanted to say thank you, and I was like, I
was just like, I didn't know what what to say.
I kind of afterwards, I was like, did I come
across a bit strange in that situation?

Speaker 3 (28:33):
Afterwards You're like I could have said.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
This, Yeah, I can said that.

Speaker 1 (28:36):
And at the same time, I'm looking behind her shoulder
and I'm like, this dude's definitely going to be playing
a castle whine other's top to steal in the supermarket.
It's something definitely kicking off over there as well. But
I just thought it was kind of a cool thing
that I was especially it was a really cool thing
that sat with me and means so much to me.
But also at the same time, it's a really cool
thing to share something with someone you know, like, because

(28:56):
sometimes you don't say things to people and you think, oh,
like for her, I hope that was really it was
nice for her to do that because it meant so
much to me, And sometimes you need to say these
things because later you're like, I should have said that
to that.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
Person in day to day life.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
I thought it was a good lesson to learn that
sometimes you don't show appreciation for people or tell them
how much they mean to you. Yeah, just because you
think I'll get back, I'll get round to that, and
you never do, and then sometimes they're not there anymore.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
And it was really good.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
Did it humanize all this stupid stuff you've done? It
at least you've made people laugh.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
Yeah, well that's right.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
I mean, as I say, it doesn't normally happen, and
there's a lot of stuff you're like, jeez, I'd take
those back and take those bad skits back at a second,
You're right, but the silly things we did had some
meaning behind that the first time ever, so I was like, oh,
it was lovely, so I really appreciate it. I didn't
even get the lady's name or anything like that, but
it meant so much to me. So thank you very
much for sharing that.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
Thanks for sharing that.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
That's really sad.

Speaker 1 (29:52):
But I don't really want to feel like that was
a brand or anything like that. I just thought it
was a really good lesson. If you go about today
and you feel like you have an opportunity.

Speaker 2 (29:59):
To say something to someone you always always thought of them,
maybe you could say it today.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
Definitely.

Speaker 6 (30:03):
Maybe The Hits that jonaan Ben podcast.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
Has a brand new Wicked movie in cinemas well. It's
called Wicked. It's in cinemas this Thursday. We've got a prize,
amazing prize that you could be winning to the Gold
Coast after eight o'clock this morning. It's basically the story
of the Wizard of Oz before Dorothy.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
Arrives, right, Yeah, the story of the Wicked Witch of
the West and how she became wicked.

Speaker 6 (30:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (30:25):
Essentially, it's like a classic musical, one of the most
famous musicals. I was lucky enough to take my daughter
to it when we went to New York, just the
two of us, because she loves musical theater.

Speaker 2 (30:35):
So we Wicked on Broadway.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
We saw Yeah, and it was awesome. Guy next to
us slept the whole time, which was so weird. I
was like, man, this is incredible. We paid a lot
for these seats at the back and we couldn't take
the whole family, just two of us, and this guy
next to us in a great sleep but slept the
whole time.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
So yeah, it's why I would have paid so much
money for this.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
Clapped and then we're back to sleep and like, man,
what are you doing?

Speaker 1 (30:59):
But yeah, So I don't know how much we're allowed
to say about the new movie because it's out on
Thursday and it's under strict embargo and rules and supper.

Speaker 3 (31:05):
Even reviews, so us reviewing the movie is under strict
and bargo. Yeah, so can I say it was everything
I hoped it would be?

Speaker 2 (31:14):
Yeah, Okay, okay, I loved it.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
I loved it.

Speaker 1 (31:16):
I'm gonna say I loved it, and that's and that's
sort of that's just me just saying I loved it.

Speaker 2 (31:20):
It was great, you know. So yeah, but I was
looking into the original. Now, the original Wizard of Oz,
made so many years ago, was Judy Garland yeah, just
the iconic movie.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
It was a nightmare. Now here's some of the things
that happened on the set. Firstly, the snow. There's some
scenes where snow starts falling. It's quite beautiful. Asbestos. That
was asbestos. So these are some of the things.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
Yeah, multiple people caught fire while filming Oh my god,
the Wicked Witch.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
When there was fire going out, she was meant to
escape through a chap a trap door that didn't quite
open for her. It took six weeks for her to recover.
And then a stunt double also caught fire as well.
The original man was poisoned by his makeup and had
like aluminum in it. Yeah, oh my god. And so
he was he went the hospital and then the movie

(32:08):
company were like, mate, you need to come back.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
He's like, I'm too sick. So they replaced him. They
got another man.

Speaker 3 (32:14):
So not halfway through the movie.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
I don't know. I don't know if to go back
and watch this.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
Literally I've been poisoned and they're like, no, can't, we
can't wait for you. Judy Garland, she was only like
fifteen sixteen at the time. Now, to give her a
bit more pip in the step, they kept giving me
a pit PILs. So basically it was like, you know,
to keep her rolling, to keep her upbeat. So I
don't know what exactly these pit PILs were.

Speaker 3 (32:40):
I think I remember. Isn't that where her drug addiction
came from?

Speaker 1 (32:43):
I think so because later unfortunately she had, yeah, some
problems as well. And the director at one stage because
Judy Garlan, who was Dorothy, she was laughing, she was giggling,
she couldn't complete the scene.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
He just walked up and slapped her on set.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
Okay, So when you're thinking that hr is going crazy
at your workplace, see got mad. There's a reason. Yeah, exactly,
Wizard of Oz was a nightmare.

Speaker 2 (33:07):
We've got best.

Speaker 1 (33:08):
You've got people catching fire, lead poising as well, drag
abuse and slapping of a young kid as well.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
So thank you. Watch that the same again.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
My theory is now after watching that, and I'm going
to say again, incredible. Obviously it's part one, a part
two that's well publicized.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
Obviously wicked, wicked movie. Yet yeah, I reckon they'll redo
the original at the end.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
It's like a trilogy.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
I was going to say it here first and have
Jeff Goldblom as the wizards, Ariana.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
You know as a characterist, you know, well, that's I
don't know who's going to get slapped by the director
who the hits.

Speaker 6 (33:44):
That Jonaan Ben Podcast Megan.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
Now someone has slid into your DMS.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
It's been a while since the last time that we've
had someone slide into your DMS with a bit of
a conundrum.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
If you have one, feel free to let us know
and we can help solve that. We do need your guidance.
If you have anything you want to tell this person
that's written, and feel free to give us a call
or a text. Fourth Weights, even this one reads dear Meghan,
John Oan Ben.

Speaker 1 (34:08):
I'm in a like they say, John and Ben, but
I feel like, really it's dear.

Speaker 3 (34:11):
Mean well you guys felt like an afterthought of that.
Dear Meghan.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
Oh Jonathan, Yeah, I get it.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
You're a lot better with these things then, and you
listening right now a lot better than me.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
So yeah, carry on.

Speaker 3 (34:22):
I'm in a bit of a pickle and need some guidance.
My best friend recently met someone online and they've been
completely smitten ever since.

Speaker 2 (34:31):
Great, that's great, Yeah, that's great. Thanks, I feel like
there's more.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
Yeah, the only problem. I'm pretty sure this guy is
a catfish. There's a few red flags. The person always
has an excuse for not meeting in real life, and
their photos look a bit too good to be true.
My friend is hit over heels. I don't want to
crush your happiness, but I also don't want her to
get hurt. Should I say something? Or do I let
this play out? I don't want to look like the

(34:55):
jealous friend, but I'm genuinely worried.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
So are you thinking they haven't met?

Speaker 3 (35:02):
It kind of sounds like they haven't met like the actual.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
Person who's in the relationship potentially.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
So the person always has an excuse for not meeting
in real life. And how long has that been though,
like a month or so?

Speaker 1 (35:14):
You could forgive, right, yeah, And I can understand the
free not meeting that then you but but the actual
person who's smitten it does it's putting some red flags
up for me.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
But but then do you bring it up or not?

Speaker 1 (35:26):
Because at the same time, you're like, well, if they're happy,
they're good, it's great.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
But then if you just want your friend to be happy,
and in this moment, she is.

Speaker 6 (35:34):
But but.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
I tend to think unless she's giving away money.

Speaker 1 (35:41):
Yeah, that's good, Like, what could it hurt?

Speaker 3 (35:43):
You know, let her maybe find out. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (35:47):
Does that mean because there's someone listening right now, have
they been catfish before? Because I imagine afterwards that it's
probably like getting scammed, you know, like you probably a
bit of embarrassment and shit, And I mean it happened
to anyone, but you probably do feel a little bit
embarrassed by it.

Speaker 3 (36:02):
But also in that moment, does the friend want to
hear that he's a catfish?

Speaker 2 (36:07):
Probably not.

Speaker 3 (36:08):
Is she going to believe her friend or is it
going to end in an argument?

Speaker 6 (36:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (36:13):
Like do you drop on her hand, like, oh, do
you think it's weird that you haven't met? And then
she's like, no, you need to do it. Definitely, I
definitely think it's a little weird you haven't met. But anyway, Yeah, okay,
ND that's four for eight son. When are we trying
to help this person out with here? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (36:27):
We Does she let it play out or does she
tell the friend what she thinks to try and protect
her she might be wrong? Yeah, there's the other thing.

Speaker 1 (36:35):
Has this situation happened to you? Maybe you were the friend,
Maybe you were in a situation where you got cat
fish or maybe it was legit. We'd love to hear
from your help someone out this morning. We'll find some
prices as well heading into Christmas.

Speaker 6 (36:47):
The Heads that jonaan Ben podcast.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
Oh a dilemma that someone has written and slim to
your DMS. With this dilemma, like we always do a
big sigh, we're like, ah, what can we do?

Speaker 3 (36:59):
So basically, the best friend has found someone online and
is completely smitten, but they are pretty sure their friend
has been catfish. A few red flags. The person always
has an excuse for not meeting in real life, and
their photos look a bit too good to be true.
But their head over heels. She doesn't want to crush
your happiness, she says, what do I do? Let it

(37:19):
play out? Or do I tell her it doesn't want
to be the jealous friend.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
Yeah, So people worrying as we go.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
The call of course first one hundred the hat's helpers
out here today because you know, like we can offer
back our opinion, but it's really good to put it
out wider.

Speaker 3 (37:34):
Yeah, Quentin, what do you think should she tell her friend?

Speaker 13 (37:39):
I think she should because to me, that's a scam.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
It does feel that way.

Speaker 13 (37:44):
Yeah, I've been in the same situation with me. I
lost a tiny bit of money out of it as well.
Trying to help the person before I saw the riding
on the walls of being red flags as them saying
that they they don't want to meet her or they
can't have an excuse for not meeting in person. Has

(38:05):
he tried asking like for phone calls?

Speaker 2 (38:08):
God?

Speaker 1 (38:09):
Yeah, so I don't want to pry too much into
your personal life, but it was the same sort of
situation where you didn't actually meet up for the person.

Speaker 13 (38:15):
That they keeping it Yeah, they did the same same thing,
keeping it up. I even tried them up for like
a video. I always tad them, now, hey, I want
to prove that you are who you say you are
and you are legit your real listen to a video
video calling and to paint. If they don't want to
meet up, then they show these have the decency to

(38:36):
do a video call.

Speaker 9 (38:37):
No, you're right.

Speaker 3 (38:38):
Apart from the not meeting up, was there any other
red flags? Like I guess asking for money was a
big one for you.

Speaker 10 (38:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (38:43):
Yeah, asking for money one is definitely a big one.

Speaker 1 (38:46):
So so far, I guess this person hasn't been asked
for money for as far as we know, but it
feels like that could be the next step for this.

Speaker 13 (38:52):
I say, with the photos, you know, like you said,
with the photos too good to be true? Yeah, I
can soon see this person and he'll he'll come up
with some sort of story and ask for money. He'll
say he doesn't want the money, but particularly he does,
and yeah, basically they're a scanner.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
Oh, thank you so much for sharing that with us.
We really appreciate. I think that what you've done will
help out a lot of people by just by sharing that.
So thank you.

Speaker 13 (39:15):
Yeah, no problem, have a good day.

Speaker 1 (39:17):
Lots of texts coming through, someone saying let it play out,
make sure if she's safe, which if they do meet
in public, but no money handout provides support if it
falls over.

Speaker 3 (39:28):
Yeah, she definitely needs to have the money conversation. It
was a good one that said you should do a
reverse Google search on the pictures that you're being sent,
see if they pop up and if they're actually.

Speaker 1 (39:40):
Because if you feel like you should say something like
another text is coming through. There's a lot of scary
stories out there. If something bad happens, you will regret
not saying something, but then you don't want to.

Speaker 3 (39:52):
You don't want to offender either. But yeah, I would
definitely keep an eye on that scenario.

Speaker 1 (39:56):
Okay, so we need to come back with a and
it's dear Meghan, it's not their ben, So what's do
you know what?

Speaker 3 (40:01):
I think, maybe have the conversation with her, just at
least chicken that she's not giving the Sky money and
just say look, do a reverse Google search, ask him
to do video calls. Just a double chick that it
is him. But I'm so happy for you if it's
if it's legit, you just have to be careful for you.

Speaker 1 (40:16):
But yeah, there's a few red flames as well.

Speaker 6 (40:19):
The heads that johnaan Ben podcast.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
Another story was reading It feels like an only in
America situation. A guy on the bike got hit by
an ambulance. Oh god, and then they had take him
to the hospital in the ambulance that hit him, and
then he got charged for the ambulance ride.

Speaker 3 (40:37):
We get charged for ambulance rights in New Zealand is
the one that.

Speaker 1 (40:43):
You could wave this Actually on this occasion it was
our fault that you're in the I get it.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
They normally you have to pay for it.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
But on this occasion there's someone else in the ambulance.
Did he have to cuddle up on the gurney else?

Speaker 2 (40:54):
Maybe that's sweat.

Speaker 1 (40:55):
They're going around looking for work. They're like, slow, day,
I could hit this guy. And then yeah, so he's
all right now apart from the fact that he's got
to pay a large bill from an ambulance that he
was fine before the ambulance came along. Now we're doing
the Mariah Carey Christmas Game. It's a really, really fun
game to play, and it's amazing how many people playing
along with us.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
Yeah, it's one basically Mariah Carey's iconic song, All I
Want for Christmas is you. You've got to try and
avoid it. That means you're still in the game. As
soon as you hear it, you're out. Now it has
to be Mariah's recorded version, but it's playing on TikTok,
it's playing in supermarkets. It's hard to avoid.

Speaker 2 (41:30):
This is Mariah's time of year, right, this is where
she's stored.

Speaker 1 (41:34):
She pops out, she's making her money, and you don't
know where to expect it. You know, you go every
time I go, like to a shop or a mall,
And'm like, this is it. There's nothing you can do
about it? Well, and then Ober the other day and
christ chitch won't we and I was like, Oh, it's
going to happen. It's going to happen, and we're.

Speaker 3 (41:48):
Going to be on a very a station that would
play Mariah Carey.

Speaker 4 (41:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (41:52):
Yeah, but fortunately we're both in the game, or am
I that's my version? All right?

Speaker 1 (42:00):
I shall we go to the phones and find out
people are still in they're still out?

Speaker 3 (42:03):
All right, good morning, Jackie. Are you still in the game.

Speaker 8 (42:07):
I'm still in.

Speaker 2 (42:09):
Still in the game.

Speaker 1 (42:10):
Have you had any places you've been to you thought well,
maybe this.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
Could be it?

Speaker 9 (42:15):
Just trying to avoid the more.

Speaker 8 (42:16):
It's amazing how much money you say when you don't.

Speaker 3 (42:20):
But I always think you could just go there and
put headphones on. And do you look obnoxious if you're
walking through a mall with headphones on listening to your
own music?

Speaker 1 (42:28):
Yea yeah, big, sort of like ear muffs that you'd
use for lawn mom. Maybe, but we but you could
do it each of their own. Let us know when
you're out, but hopefully it last longer than us.

Speaker 3 (42:41):
Thanks Jackie, all right, good luck Jackie and Kylie, are
you still in the game.

Speaker 10 (42:47):
Yes, I'm very much still in the game.

Speaker 3 (42:49):
Have you had a hearing moment where you've been somewhere
and you're like.

Speaker 10 (42:55):
Well, yeah, I don't. I don't frequent them all and
if I had to go in there, I would be
moving pretty quickly. And then as far as the Scooper Market,
I'm a big cautious about the supermarket. But it's mainly
around social media. So you know, I looked at Instagram

(43:16):
and things like that, and who that a lot of
people had dropped out viauns to it. So I just
literally look at friends stories and don't scroll.

Speaker 6 (43:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (43:24):
Yeah, And it sound off as a good thing, you know.
Although John I clicked on one, he watched it, he
was like, this will be fine. Clicked on one.

Speaker 2 (43:31):
It had Mariah Bam out of nowhere.

Speaker 3 (43:33):
But it tells you down the bottom of a lot
of these things. What soundtrack is playing. It does right
on you and check what the soundtrack is. Good luck
could be good. It could be giving people like a
bit of space, a bit of time off social media.

Speaker 1 (43:44):
Yeah true, actually me, you're right, well, let us know
when you're out, okay, yeah, totally text coming through. I'm
out of the game because apparently and apparently you know
in inverted commerce, because it was playing in the shop
that was in with my daughter. I never heard it,
but she told me I'm out. I feel like you
could stay in the game the potentially if you didn't

(44:04):
hear it.

Speaker 3 (44:04):
So it's playing, but you didn't look like you're out. Afterwards,
know that you're out played while you were there, just
because you didn't notice talking You're like, I didn't notice that.

Speaker 2 (44:18):
Okay, well, Megan saying you're out, I'm saying you're still one, but.

Speaker 1 (44:22):
Holes, but you didn't.

Speaker 2 (44:25):
And you played it to you in your sleep? Would
you be out? Would you be and you work out
in the next morning. That's what I played because I
was asleep.

Speaker 3 (44:33):
I didn't hear it.

Speaker 2 (44:35):
That's I gave you the.

Speaker 6 (44:36):
Heads that johnaan Ben podcast.

Speaker 1 (44:39):
If you're hitting around the Wellington region today, there's quite
a few delays on the road because the Heckory reaches
Parliament today. So it's your chance right now to win
one hundred dollars and a del Marte Hot and Cold
tea price pack. But first, iways like to do a
riddle for the room, and I was struggling a little bit. Actually,
I'm going to be honest to pull back the curtain again.

Speaker 2 (44:56):
I was struggling a little back. It's just you and
me today, Meghan.

Speaker 1 (44:59):
So I was like, well, that's the old friend chat GPT,
the artificial intelligence, and I was like, okay, I put
in a couple of details about you, and so obviously
you know that you know the reddle answer for this one.
But this is interesting.

Speaker 2 (45:11):
What chat GPT came up with the reddle? Did you sing?

Speaker 3 (45:13):
A mean?

Speaker 1 (45:14):
You know, it's actually interesting you and your partner Andrew.
I just put a couple of details in and it says,
here's the reddle. I talk all day to make you laugh,
but when it comes to dancing, I'll leave that to
my other half. I married a boy band star you see,
Andrews his name and younger than me.

Speaker 2 (45:31):
He sings in.

Speaker 1 (45:32):
Grooves grooves as I'm a mum blogging with fans galore.
But it's my voice they're tuning in for. The answer
was me again, So there you go that. Yeah, it
was not too bad.

Speaker 3 (45:45):
Usually chat GPT is a little bit brutal.

Speaker 1 (45:48):
It was a nicer version. I mean, you know, a
few digs younger than me and things like that you know.
But here's your reddle one one hundred and hit four
for it seven. I think someone will get this. You see,
a boat filled with people hasn't sunk, but when you
look again, you don't see a single person. Why So
a boat filled with people hasn't sunk, but when you
look again, you don't see a single person.

Speaker 6 (46:10):
Why?

Speaker 2 (46:11):
Oh, one hundred the hats four.

Speaker 3 (46:13):
Sometimes when you read a riddle, I get flustered.

Speaker 1 (46:15):
Yeah, and I know the answer to the details. Yeah,
there's words that I'm like, do I emphasize this?

Speaker 12 (46:21):
Do I not?

Speaker 1 (46:22):
You know things like that, Oh, one hundred the hats
four for eight seven? You can get one hundred dollars
in a doll ma tea hot and cold tea price back.

Speaker 3 (46:28):
I don't know the answer. Just heads up, John, do
you know the answer? Good morning?

Speaker 8 (46:34):
Good morning?

Speaker 10 (46:35):
Hi? Hi?

Speaker 2 (46:36):
What's the answer to the riddle?

Speaker 6 (46:38):
All right?

Speaker 8 (46:39):
I everyone inside the book, everyone's.

Speaker 2 (46:50):
In the boat?

Speaker 1 (46:51):
No, no, unfot you to tell your phone line was
shocking there? Sorry mate, but no, uh I fortunately not
the right answer. That's going to another call it boat
filled with people hasn't sunk? With you look again, you
don't see a single person?

Speaker 3 (47:01):
Why Andy you, good morning. Do you know the answer
to the red all?

Speaker 12 (47:05):
Hey?

Speaker 13 (47:06):
Is it because they're all married?

Speaker 2 (47:07):
That's right? You don't see a single person. Yeah, they're
all married.

Speaker 1 (47:12):
I don't know why you know that the first time
you looked at the boat, but apparently according to the red.

Speaker 3 (47:18):
Why was it clear when you look back?

Speaker 2 (47:21):
Hey, we're all married. It's all good. No judgment exactly,
no judgment here.

Speaker 1 (47:26):
Yeah, congratulations, you've got yourself clever and hundred bucks and
until bar te hot and cold tea price back?

Speaker 2 (47:32):
And what do you got played for your Tuesday?

Speaker 13 (47:35):
Not too much. Its gonna be pretty quiet where we
are in but Tony but hic always going. So everybody's
going to town today. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (47:43):
N It's the jonaan Ben podcast.

Speaker 1 (47:47):
It's a very funny play. It's called Camping are created
by four comedians, including Chris Parker, who you'll know from
Celebrity Treesure Island. He won the show. It's on at
the Q Theater now and he joins us in the
studio to tell us more. Chris, Okay, good morning, great
heavy here, good morning, thanks for having me. Nice to
see you know, this is very cool teaming up Tom
Sainsbury Curdor Forrester Brindley stint for a very funny show

(48:09):
look at a cool camping.

Speaker 4 (48:10):
Yeah, it's like the Marvel Avengers of sort of comedy.
Like you and Tom wrote this what many years ago, right,
we wrote the play. It was the first time Tom
and I ever wrote a play together, because we've run
in like weirdly, like eight plays together. Now I just
call rip it. I would just write them and they
just put them in the track.

Speaker 1 (48:31):
We've put them on.

Speaker 4 (48:32):
But just like as part of comedy fist, well, just
like a bit of fun. Yeah, so it's called camping.
We don't actually we wrote you know, with comedy fest
you just come up with these ideas so quickly and
then you're like, oh, who knows, and now it's a
sitting stone. So we actually don't go camping at all,
but camping is more like being camp So Tom and
myself play straight men who are married to Brintley and Cuder.

(48:54):
So these two couples sort of double book a Airbnb
and then just side that it's probably just for the
best if they all stay the night together rather than
work out who gets the place or not. Yeah, there's
a lot of sexual tension just building up through the
whole an hour and at haven't we drink second for

(49:18):
the second half?

Speaker 2 (49:19):
Is the tensions still brooming at half time?

Speaker 6 (49:21):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (49:21):
It's pubbly? And then it all sort of I don't
want to give too much away, but I will say
that there is spandit's involved, is letter involved, and there
is explicit adult come to Chris.

Speaker 1 (49:34):
You know a lot of people talking about chet GPT
at the moment, the a and stuff like that. So
I put into last night. I was like, I put
I said, we've interviewed Chris Parker many times. Is it
okay to use chet GPT on the interview questions?

Speaker 13 (49:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (49:46):
Came back absolutely, great idea, that's what chet GPT.

Speaker 2 (49:49):
That's going to say that they were like.

Speaker 1 (49:51):
Fresh perspectives on interview questions specie if he interviewed Chris
Parker multiple times and want to keep things interesting. So
I was like, great, one are the questions and see
we go here would.

Speaker 4 (50:01):
You like to confirm the allegations made to give you?

Speaker 6 (50:03):
I just.

Speaker 2 (50:05):
Funny questions for Chris Barker. Okay, here we go.

Speaker 1 (50:08):
I throw a couple weight Yeah, okay, love if you
had to survive on only one food from a New
Zealand gas station.

Speaker 4 (50:14):
Would I would have to be like a pie that's
been in the pine for four hours too long. You
know when they start to the mints and the pastry
begins to become one.

Speaker 3 (50:22):
Yeah, the mints is like dry and crusty.

Speaker 2 (50:25):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (50:26):
If you could only wear outfits from one Kiwi brand
for the rest of your life, brand you're committing to?

Speaker 2 (50:32):
What does that say about you? Questions coming.

Speaker 4 (50:39):
Hire we brands and go?

Speaker 2 (50:44):
Okay, which member of your family? Chris Parker, would you
sacrifice first in a zombie apocalypse?

Speaker 4 (50:51):
Wow?

Speaker 3 (50:53):
God on you for taking your time.

Speaker 2 (50:55):
You know, dad, what's the weirdest theme of it ever
received on social media?

Speaker 4 (51:01):
Oh, it's a bit of a brag. Do you want
the brag?

Speaker 9 (51:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (51:04):
Okay. It was like just in that I do and
was like, honestly, like four days to go into labor.
And she was like, I hear your comedy show's amazing.
I would love to come and see it.

Speaker 1 (51:13):
It's like, No, I hope you're a plank. I think
I mean that would be great, but I'm about to
literally give birth. I think she gave birth like two
days later. Did she come and see your show?

Speaker 4 (51:25):
No?

Speaker 2 (51:26):
Chris Parker was always great catching up.

Speaker 4 (51:29):
They hit a Fresh Perspective, The Fresh Perspective, and all
it costs was ten gallons of water.

Speaker 2 (51:37):
Chris Barker. You can catch them in camping right now at.

Speaker 6 (51:40):
The Q Theater the hits the jonaan Ben podcast playing a.

Speaker 2 (51:43):
Mariah Carey game.

Speaker 1 (51:44):
Of course, if you hear the song all I Want
for Christmas, you're out of the game, but you continue
until you don't hear it. We're going to do something
really risky after seven o'clock this morning, Megan a minute
each on social media.

Speaker 3 (51:55):
We're going to just scroll haphazardly.

Speaker 1 (51:58):
One of us could be out of the game. Have
to seven o'clock this morning. But right now it's the
New Zealand Herald Daily Quiz. We like to start our
day with producer Ali asking us questions that we sometimes guess,
well mostly guess, but try and get ten out of ten.

Speaker 3 (52:12):
Al you can just all right, is your microphone plugged in?
He just keeps saying, alrighty, Like I just want to
point out that's not a me problem phone ready, alright, alrighty,
it's me on the buttons, guys, it's not but that's

(52:33):
not on you.

Speaker 2 (52:33):
That's not on you. That's on our producer, who's you know.

Speaker 3 (52:37):
I don't know why that was not plugged in.

Speaker 1 (52:39):
Hello everyone say alrighty, it's still not going to affect
It affects the problem.

Speaker 5 (52:44):
Just turn on all right, Okay, we're ready for question
number one. Yes, Watch director. Has Leonardo DiCaprio collaborated with
the Most Time School? Well, you hit the options, okay,
Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino or Martin Scorsese.

Speaker 3 (53:00):
He's only done one Tarantino hasn't he?

Speaker 1 (53:03):
I know he did the other one, Hollywood one, in
a western one. I think he was like a wish Yeah.
I think it's that mean where he's like, oh, you know,
he's looking about Yeah, but I think it might be.
Of course, I'll go with you on that one. Feels
like the two of them were collaborated a lot a
collab feet Leonardo.

Speaker 5 (53:21):
That is correct, Yes, okay. Question number two New Zealand
Hero Daddy quiz. How many points does the crown and
the rolex logo have?

Speaker 3 (53:30):
Is it six? Five or four?

Speaker 6 (53:34):
John?

Speaker 1 (53:34):
I bought one, remember he put one off a website
and it.

Speaker 3 (53:37):
Broke so literally like and fell apart two weeks.

Speaker 1 (53:43):
They probably didn't have as many crowd the stars and the.

Speaker 3 (53:46):
Crown or anything, paid nineteen ninety five for it.

Speaker 2 (53:48):
So you know what the options again?

Speaker 3 (53:51):
Either six or five or four? Yeah it's not four,
it's sex or five. Okay, yeah nice.

Speaker 2 (54:01):
This is purely a guess.

Speaker 1 (54:02):
So, yeah, suggar, I've gone with something they're aesthetically pleasing,
like an even number or gone six would be even.

Speaker 3 (54:10):
I feel like it's an even crown. I don't feel
like it comes to a point, which it would if
there was five.

Speaker 1 (54:20):
Now I'm going against you just because I'm looking to
producing all these facials.

Speaker 3 (54:24):
I don't know five or I thought I was bluffing
quite well.

Speaker 9 (54:27):
Five?

Speaker 3 (54:29):
All right, who we going? There's no third person to tie.

Speaker 1 (54:33):
I'm happy to take your lead. I was just going
off purely going produce all these facials. I'm gonna go five.
Let's not go five.

Speaker 3 (54:39):
You're looking them five? Yeah, that is correct.

Speaker 2 (54:42):
Not because I knew, it's just because.

Speaker 5 (54:46):
Yeah, it's clear I can knew get better at my facials.
I thought I wasn't even doing much.

Speaker 2 (54:51):
But you're very.

Speaker 3 (54:53):
Number three.

Speaker 5 (54:54):
Which country hosted the first Rugby League World Cup in
nineteen fifty four?

Speaker 3 (54:58):
Is it England, France or Australia.

Speaker 1 (55:00):
That's been well, I wouldn't I wouldn't say. I'd be
very surprised it was France because they're not really a
big league nation, so I would think she could put
it thinking England. But maybe we could put it to
the text. Yeah, let's put in the text. I'm going
to say England and that's what I'm thinking. But help
me out right now, this is our lifeline. Four four
eight seven. The first Rugby League World Cup YEAP in.

Speaker 5 (55:21):
Nineteen fifty four was hosted by which country? England, France
or Australia.

Speaker 2 (55:25):
All right, we'll go to the text and come back
and see how we go to the New Zealand Herald Daily.

Speaker 6 (55:28):
Question the Hits that johnaan Ben podcast.

Speaker 1 (55:31):
We try and get ten out of ten on the
New Zealand Herald Daily Quiz without getting a wrong answer.

Speaker 2 (55:36):
Soon as we get one wrong, we're out of the game.
What are we up to now, produce Ali.

Speaker 5 (55:39):
We're on up to question four, Slow morning, a right,
Jesus one, fair enough, fair enough, stand out, stand out?

Speaker 3 (55:48):
All right?

Speaker 5 (55:48):
Question number four, which Luxury branded Mark Jacobs serve as
the creative director for from ninety seven to twenty fourteen.

Speaker 2 (55:55):
Look at you, Meghan?

Speaker 3 (55:57):
Was it do yor Gucci or Louis Vuittoon, I like
the Louis thor see the Gucci or Louis.

Speaker 2 (56:05):
Jacob's obviously got his own fashion line, right yea.

Speaker 3 (56:08):
So that's how lot of them start. They end up,
you know, like being creative director for one of the
big fashion houses in their brunch out on their own,
kind of like that.

Speaker 2 (56:14):
Movie The Devil wiz Prata. You know she's working there
and then she anyway there it is, it's not helping
you at all?

Speaker 3 (56:20):
Is that I can't I've got a I've got a
book on Gucci, and I can't remember if he has
a chapter or not. I'm gonna go with I'm gonna
go with Gucci.

Speaker 2 (56:28):
Lucky to Be. I'll beck you with whatever, I'll bet you.
I'll bet you is your part of it? Or watched
the first Gucci again?

Speaker 3 (56:34):
Gucci again, Gucci.

Speaker 1 (56:35):
Or Louis Vuitton.

Speaker 3 (56:38):
I don't know. I can't remember.

Speaker 2 (56:41):
That's all right.

Speaker 5 (56:42):
They have no memory of him being in your Gucci book,
because maybe you should have.

Speaker 3 (56:49):
Door like exhibition where it broke down all the different
creative directors and I kind of remember if he was
there or not. Either answer let's go no, I don't
know if it is Gucci with let's go with your

(57:11):
