Obviously Jim is gone, Yes, never takes over for Jim,
take over for dead. Yes, but that's that's sort of
whom I really replacing because I got this called yesterday.

Yeah, well that yesterday. Jim's like, hey, how about I.
You know, I have one vacation day left unaccounted for
and you use it to lose it here. So he's like,
I'd like to use it. I'm like, okay, we'll find
someone to bring in. So I just assumed.
Speaker 6 (01:12):
That you had lined up, you know, Bob Fryar, Oh, no,
Sweezy or somebody.
Speaker 5 (01:16):
And they couldn't make your life around.
Speaker 7 (01:19):
Listen, when it's last minute, I call tom because all
the other people we bring in have jobs.

Yeah, well we're excited too because we want to hear
all about So life has not been boring since you've
retired from being a TV meteorologist, although you're still a meteorologist.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
Once you're a weather geek, you're always a weather geek.
Weather Goob stays, Yeah, that's the kind of stink you
can't shake up.
Speaker 7 (02:03):
Now that it's not your profession, paid profession, do you
do you have to actually take classes or is there
a recertification that you have to go on a regular basis?
Speaker 6 (02:13):
You have to do enough studying along the way, continuing education,
you call it. So I've kept up with all that
I can do that online. Still I'm an AMS seal
my CBM.
Speaker 5 (02:23):
I renewed that.
Speaker 6 (02:24):
That was a little bit of money, and I have
the NWA Silver approval steal just in case, you know,
you never know, you never know. Why don't you like
sew them onto your shirt or something.
Speaker 7 (02:33):
If you don't have a graphic for television, you need
to brag about that a little bit.
Speaker 8 (02:38):
You need a jacket or something made logo on it.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Yeah, Jack is going to take care of that.
Speaker 5 (02:44):
Radio thing on that.
Speaker 7 (02:45):

the breast?
Speaker 6 (02:49):

Speaker 8 (02:55):
That will be embroidered as Captain Sunshine.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
Oh there we go, Okay, away Sunshine always forever.
Speaker 6 (03:01):
Because okay, when you get famous, you can't change your name, right, Okay,
So then how come this is the Jim Colbert Show
and no one ever says dirty gym anymore?
Speaker 3 (03:09):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (03:10):
Oh they do, they do, and he frowns until they stop.
Speaker 6 (03:13):
Well, I know, and so it's kind of like Marky
Mark or John Cougar mellicap. You can be John Mellicamp.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
But you're still John Cougar right in the hearts of many.
Or you can be you could be Mark Wahlberg, but
you always go.
Speaker 7 (03:25):
To be the funky bunch, you know, deub equity with
the name right, and you don't want you don't want
to give that up for you the people who follow
you and know you as that, and it's great, but
you know, we but the people.
Speaker 6 (03:36):
Who know actual sunshine are limited to the people at
this studio and.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Naturally going through that right now, you know, because when
I get married in April, what are you going to do? Well,
I'm going to be taking his name. But you're right, professionally,
I share this day is Deborah Roberts. I mean, it's
been over three decades.
Speaker 8 (03:52):
I think there's alway to hide, though there's already one
of those.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
I know. I'm actually so yeah, we're well, just gave
away your married name. Yeah, I have no problem with that, right,
but I like to hunt. He got a oh you're
Debs Chris just yesterday?
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Oh really yeah, restaurant up in Eltmont talking to the
manager saying, hey, I wish you guys would bring one
of these to Mount Dora and the manager Bryce was like,
wait a minute, I know you, wait a minute, what
do you do again?
Speaker 3 (04:17):
You're marrying that one.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
And then they said, oh, you're Deb's Chris, And to
the man who spends all of his time, you know,
coming up with these great holiday events, was like, yep,
that's who I am.
Speaker 8 (04:27):
You know what, you gotta roll with it.
Speaker 7 (04:29):
It happened so my wife, you know, because of the
the blessings and opportunities of this job. Absolutely she has
had to see me whenever we go out a lot
of times she loses me to when I start interacting
and doing that stuff. Yeah, but my wife, the lovely
neew me bradshawt dot com. As a professional singer, there
are plenty of times where I am Naomi's husband.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Oh wow, Yeah, that's cool.
Speaker 8 (04:54):
Yeah, she's the uh, she's the star.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Yeah, exactly, And that happens for us as well. And
Chris says he wears it like a badge.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
Well, in Jack's case, she's actually talented.
Speaker 7 (05:04):
Because the post talk, I overcompensate by just working a
lot of hours.
Speaker 2 (05:10):
I love your guys's love language. Speaking of the blessings
of this kind of job.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Did you guys get a chance to hear us last night? Yeah?
We were on Magic one O seven seven, Orlando's Christmas station.
Speaker 8 (05:22):
We were what did you do?
Speaker 7 (05:25):

Speaker 3 (05:29):
We were on for three hours last night.
Speaker 5 (05:32):
Father Christmas, would you leave it?
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (05:34):
No.
Speaker 7 (05:34):
One of my picks I had Darlene love Baby, Please
Come Home Always love that song.
Speaker 8 (05:42):
For my daughter.
Speaker 7 (05:43):
I played a Faith Hill song where are You Christmas?
She used to sing from the Grinch movie. She saw
it once over the credits. I came in the room
as a five year old. She's singing in that voice
and it was just so sad. But to this day
when I hear it, I get chills. Yeah, And because
of that, I had I had to do that. And
my final song was one that I loved that I
(06:03):
knew it would be new to many people listening. Is
Michael Andrews Mistletoe Mambo off of his swinger Head Christmas CD.
Speaker 8 (06:12):
This is a Swingerhead Christmas.
Speaker 5 (06:14):
I didn't see that coming.
Speaker 7 (06:15):
It is one of I think one of the all
time greatest Christmas music CDs, and it and it just
when I heard it last night. I just started thinking,
I'm like, we got to reach out. So I reach
out to Michael Andrew. He's coming in today at five twenty.
We'll have him in studio. Well yeah, and we'll talk
about that CD because every year, I know Angel on
(06:36):
the Monster says it, I say it as well.
Speaker 8 (06:38):
It is one of the best Christmas albums ever.
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Yeah, absolutely, would you please?
Speaker 2 (06:43):
I played I Had a Holy Night, a Little Drummer
Boy and Hark the Herald Angels sing you a traditional.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
I did she did, I did it. It was a
good balance.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Though, Yeah, it was because you know then Jimmy had
the waitresses.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
And the theme from the chart Brown Christmas Special because
for those of us of a certain age, that was
really ez chs.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
That is Christmas and that is Christmas.
Speaker 5 (07:06):
You screwed up?
Speaker 8 (07:07):
Yea, that doesn't he more than once Christmas wrapping.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
By the way, I absolutely love that shit.
Speaker 7 (07:11):
That's a great it is a great song. I'm really
glad we got to include it.
Speaker 8 (07:15):
You so o.
Speaker 7 (07:16):
Holy Night Devors version was Kerrie Underwood yep. And for
a Little Drummer Boy, we did not King Cole because
Jimmy also had Little Drummer boy. But the duet with
Bing Crosby and David Bowie.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Oh that's great. Isn't that a great one? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (07:32):
Yeah, So thanks to everyone over at Magic one oh
seven seven. Of course everyone is listening to them, but
thank you for inviting us to be a part of it.
It really was a lot of fun.
Speaker 7 (07:41):
And the Monsters in the Morning are doing a Christmas
show on Magic again. They were asked to come back,
so tonight at seven Chris, they will be doing another
Christmas show on Magic one o seven seven.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
I have to say, it's been really fun listening to
that station this holiday season and hearing all the different
cross promotion, with all the different you know, talents in
the building. You kind of just feel a lot more
like we're like, we're a family together, cohesive, one big
just happy family. Love that thanks to a lot of
Prozac and stuff like that. Speaking of Michael Andry, we're
gonna have lots of the usual Friday stuff we're gonna
(08:13):
do today. Jack, I know you've picked out a fabulous
tune for sinker sale.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Oh yeah, okay, good.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
You're gonna be able to vote let us know your
thoughts at seven seven zero three one Embers only we're
gonna do Primetime Kitchen with Fayez. Car is going to
give us his reviews of some local eateries. We talk
about a job i'd want, really, I love to eat,
love food.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
Yeah, but you don't look like you do. How is
it that I do? Anyway, you're not looking in the
right places.
Speaker 7 (08:40):
I never won, as he posts closer to the desk,
that's sucking mind.
Speaker 6 (08:45):
I had never won Radio'shunkiest Hunk because you know, when
when Todd Drakowski and Bob Fryar are winning all those titles,
I was more like TV's Chunky Chunk Ever. I mean,
those guys are skinny minies.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
But along with the interview that we're going to be
doing with Michael Andrew at four to twenty, we're going
to be talking to a local teacher who talk about
kids met right. I mean, you put it out there
into the universe, you rely a little bit on social
media and it takes off in the most wonderful and
weird way. Her name is Megan Dewitz. She teaches at
Triangle Elementary School. So we're going to be talking to
(09:24):
her at four twenty.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
What else do we have?
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Oh, we've got eight bit update with Jayden Grimes coming
in to give us the latest gaming news.
Speaker 7 (09:30):
Absolutely, we'll have a game show at five point forty
five where we will have a great prize tickets to
Universal Studios Orlando up for grabs.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
I like the way you said a game show. Yeah,
you want to be part of the game show at
this time.
Speaker 7 (09:45):
I would love to be actually awesome as our guests.
You could be our game show host.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
I loved show. I was still almost Pat Sajack. No way,
do you ever see that story? No, for real, that's
a joke that I say that, because no, I did
try out to be past Sajack.
Speaker 6 (10:00):
But most of my friends I've bored with that story
through the years, and so whenever we're I said, hey,
will you tell you it was almost Pat Sajack?
Speaker 3 (10:06):
We got three minutes go for Yeah, exactly, tell us
you I'd never heard this story. Okay, real you auditioned.
Speaker 6 (10:11):
I auditioned heavy back in the day. I was like nineteen,
I want to say eighty eight or eighty nine. Say
Jack left the Will of Fortune. He was going to
CBS Late.
Speaker 7 (10:23):
Night right to be the big oh Wow Late Night
se for a minute against.
Speaker 6 (10:27):
Johnny Carson, and so when he went off the air,
they did a nationwide search to find the new Pat
Sajack right, And so they have auditions in LA and
auditions in Nashville.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
And I happened to be.
Speaker 6 (10:41):
Back home in Nashville to go to a wedding, and
I saw it. Back at the we used to these
things on the newspaper and you would open it up
and all the news of the day would be in there.
Remember that this in the eighties, And so all of
a sudden I see it.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
I'm like, oh, dude, well I'm going tomorrow.
Speaker 5 (10:56):
So I get it in the morning.
Speaker 6 (10:57):
I drive down to Upper Land, go in the Upper
Land area and get admitted. Me and my best friend
Carrie were there, and I'm trying out and they come
they say what's your name? And my name's Carrie.
Speaker 5 (11:05):
Oh blah blah blah blah, and they say, thanks, what's
your name?
Speaker 8 (11:07):
My name is Tom Sorels.
Speaker 6 (11:08):
And God brought me here today to be the host
because I live out of town now and I'm here
for a wedding. This is God in action, and They're like,
come with us, Oh wow.
Speaker 5 (11:17):
And so then the next.
Speaker 8 (11:18):
Round is golden.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
That's what they wanted. I didn't realize it.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
At the time.
Speaker 6 (11:22):
I just came with energy and they were like, do it,
do it, do it. So I kept getting down. I
got down like the last eight people that day, and
it's like five.
Speaker 5 (11:30):
O'clock and they shut it down. I've got to get to.
Speaker 6 (11:32):
A rehearsal dinner, so I'm like cool and they say
we'll be in touch. I do the rehearsal dinner and
then I get done and I come home and it's
like ten thirty in the Central time zone and I
get home. My dad's awake and he's like, you got
a call from somebody from Hollywood.
Speaker 5 (11:45):
And I'm like, oh, yeah, give me that what they
say and said, they said call back, and I'm like,
I got this, I got this.
Speaker 6 (11:52):
I'm in and so they said call back at night
because of them it's West Coast time.
Speaker 5 (11:56):
They're okay, So I call and I'm like, hey, hey,
it's Tommy some and I get the job.
Speaker 3 (12:02):
And you're like, well, tom look, oh no, we liked
you a lot.
Speaker 6 (12:06):
You're a great young man. We think you're awesome. But listen,
you look so young. And I'm like, we're talking about man,
I'm twenty five. Oh, and they're like, I mean, I'm
as old as I've ever been.
Speaker 5 (12:20):
I'm twenty five.
Speaker 6 (12:21):
And he's like, yeah, but you know, and I you'll
make Vanna look old.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
Oh I would not.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Yeah, wasn't it funny when you're twenty five you think
you look so I thought it.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
Was seventy exactly. I'm so grown.
Speaker 6 (12:35):
High school was a decade, you know. And I'm like,
I'm like, they said, but we'd love to fly you
out to LA and let you be a contestant on
our show. And I'm like, keep in mind, i am
only twenty five, and I would not react this way today.
But when the guy said we'd love to fly you
at be a contestant, I went, I'm never going to
be the host.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
He goes, no, son, I'm sorry you son.
Speaker 6 (12:56):
Yeah, And I'm like, really, I don't have a chance.
I can't be Pat Sajack. And he said, no, Pal,
You're just you're just too young and you don't like
your show anyway. Oh, And I'm like, I don't like
TV game shows. I just want to be the host.
I don't want to spin the stupid wheel. I want
to be the star of the show, you know. And
I was like, I burned that bridge, like, oh, I
(13:20):
don't know.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
I get it.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
I know, I see I see the kids in the hallway.
I call them kids, But you know you see them
at twenty five. You remember how you thought of yourself
at twenty five, and you're like, oh my god.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
But then I don't know.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
Maybe it's just me, but it seemed like last week
was just August.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
I should have taken that.
Speaker 8 (13:37):
I should have gone down a the done.
Speaker 5 (13:39):
The real of fortune and try to get some money
to something else.
Speaker 8 (13:43):
Well, you know, but I did not.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
Hindsight is twenty twenty, right.
Speaker 7 (13:46):
But now you look at your life with your beautiful family,
and you wonder what would be different exactly.
Speaker 8 (13:51):
You gotta live with no regrets.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
Everything everything would have been.
Speaker 5 (13:54):
And it's a great story.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
It is a story.
Speaker 6 (13:56):
Had I taken that gig and become a big star,
I'd be dead by now.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (14:01):
I never would have made it. Immature Tom who burns
it to the ground, never.
Speaker 3 (14:06):
Would have made it. Yeah, I hear you. I'm that,
I hear you that. But thank you again for joining
us today.
Speaker 6 (14:11):

Speaker 2 (14:16):
We really do, Tom, And as Jack said, we're gonna
have fun today.
Speaker 8 (14:20):
Let's do it.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
Yeah, we're gonna do it because the cat's away, so
the mice are gonna play.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
First. We're gonna take a little break.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
When we come back, we're going to talk about House
Dems releasing more Jeffrey Epstein photos a Florida nonprofit. Shepherd's
a dissident from Venezuela. There's a headline, and the healthiest
vegetable in the world is We'll tell you that and

Speaker 3 (15:02):
No, all right, well anyway, I'm really glad you're there.
By the way, did you ride your motorcycle to the station?

Speaker 2 (15:17):
And welcome back to the Jim Colbert Show. I'm Real
Radio one oh four point one. How about that Tom
feeling the love already?
Speaker 3 (15:23):

Speaker 5 (15:25):
Come on, I.
Speaker 6 (15:27):
Exactly actually cofting in place if I'd ridden the motorcycle.
Speaker 5 (15:32):
Deb wouldn't be able to sit this close to me.

Speaker 9 (16:07):
It's in my contract, dude show.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
It's literally like he's still here right And as always,
JCS News is brought to you by that mortgage guy.
Don give him a listen tomorrow morning when he's host
of the Home Loans radio show. House Democrats have released
more photos from the estate of Jeffrey Epstein. Nineteen photos
were released in total today, with one showing President Trump
with six women adult women whose faces are redacted. Others
(16:34):
show Epstein with Steve Bannon, former President Bill Clinton, and
director Woody Allen. Another photo shows Bill Gates with former
Prince Andrew. One image shows a bowl of condoms with
Trump's face on them. None of the photos feature any
sexual misconduct or show underage girls. All right, Venezuela is
fresh in the news, of course, obviously, and a Florida
(16:55):
man is fresh off what he calls the most high
profile rescue operation he has ever conducted. We've talked about
Brian Stern before, the founder of Gray Bull Rescue. So
members of the Tampa nonprofit recently made sure Venezuelan opposition
leader Maria Coriina Machado got to Norway safely so she
could receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
Speaker 8 (17:15):
Interesting, isn't that crazy? Because she's in hiding.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
She is in hiding, and of course that's going to
be going down this week now. It was called Operation
Golden Dynamite, and Stern says Machado was the highest profile
person his group has ever rescued. He won't say who
funded the operation, but he says it was not the
US government. Stern tell's NBC six it was a great
honor to have the privilege to be asked to do
(17:39):
this operation.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
Yeah, the things you just know. We don't know who
funded and We don't know.
Speaker 7 (17:44):
Don't you just want to be in the room where
you're They need all right, we need an operation title here.
What do you guys got And then they take two
suggestions and they merge it exactly Golden retriever, Bang the dynamite. Okay,
golden dynamite.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
That I think I would almost rather be in the
committee that gets to name snowplows in North Dakota, But
this one would be pretty.
Speaker 8 (18:06):
Fun too, should snowy the snowplows?
Speaker 3 (18:09):
Exactly? All right?
Speaker 2 (18:11):
Speaking of things on the roads, construction is going to
begin soon on the four to oh eight eastbound, with
CRUSE adding a fifth lane between Orange Blossom Trail and
I four. The Central Florida Expressway Authority, as expected, approved
the two hundred and eighteen million dollar project, which also
includes improvements to Rio Grand and Tampa AF.
Speaker 10 (18:29):
Now.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
In addition to the lane expansion, crews are also going
to replace the tolling system between Orange Blossom Trail and
I four, making it all digital and getting rid of
the you know, the kiosks.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
Yeah, exactly now.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
The improvements to Rio Grand and Tampa AV are expected
to be done by the time the Jaguars move into
the Camping World Stadium for the twenty twenty seven season.
Because nothing says Welcome to Orlando like construction traffic. Meanwhile,
a controversial road project in Osceola County is moving ahead.
The Central Florida Expressway Authority approved plans Tuesday for the
(19:04):
Southport Connector in Pointsiana. It's going to be a fifteen
mile toll road, a toll road between Pointsiana Parkway and
the Florida Turnpike. Some residents oppose it, though myself included,
because it's going to go through the Florida Wildlife Corridor
and it's also close to the Disney Wilderness Preserve. There's
also concerns that toll revenue will only cover less than
(19:25):
thirty percent of the costs.
Speaker 7 (19:28):
What are you talking about. They're never going to take
the tolls down. It's going to be ongoing.
Speaker 3 (19:31):
Revenue, absolutely, I mean, and if they get rid of
property taxes, it's basically one of the last few sources
of revenue.
Speaker 11 (19:37):
Right.
Speaker 7 (19:38):
Oh, so, deb you're all about tax the drivers, all right?
His pro tax everybody?
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Text, I pay those tolls every single day, twice a day,
Monday through Friday.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
You do you?
Speaker 8 (19:50):
Yeah? I'd be torn.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
I just know you what, You'll drive four forty one
once and you'll be like, oh, where was that toll road?
Speaker 7 (19:58):
I have to say, you're right, because would they open
up the expanded eye for with the toll lanes? I swore,
I go, I am never using those. There's a free alternat.
I am never using that. I am just looking down
the road. It look like a little congestion. Okay, I'm
getting on the.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
Actually I spend one dollar two bucks to get me home. Exactly,
it's about fifty.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
It's about fifty that I'm burning that in gas just
sitting here. I have to say, I used to say
the same thing when I worked at Excel. I would
leave and drive I for and I'm like, I'm not
getting on the East West six. I'm not taking a
toll road. Didn't take long before I was taken the
East West. I took it every day, all right. So
Florida Attorney General issuing gaming platform roadblocks, calling it quote
(20:38):
the new hunting ground for sexual predators end quote that
has refused to implement readily available child safety features. Former
state senator and child sex abuse survivor Lauren Book says
parents simply cannot relax.
Speaker 12 (20:53):
That is not going to keep your kids safe online.
In fact, that is ten percent.
Speaker 13 (20:59):
The reality is if.
Speaker 12 (21:01):
They close down Roadblocks and shift and change, it's going
to be somewhere else.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
She stresses, moms and dads need to have conversations with
their kids about online safety and constantly check their phones
and computers. Right, that app may look like a calculator,
it may not be a calculator. In response to the lawsuit,
Roadblock said it is quote built with safety at its
core end quote, and is rolling out measures that go
beyond what is required by law and.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
Continues to strengthen protections every day.
Speaker 5 (21:30):
No, none of them have our best.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
Interesting, No, And and today I saw in some of
the one of the local news reports talked about like
some of the games like Kill Your Friends and Survive
the Killer, some that even like are modeled after like
Escaping Jeffrey Epstein's Island.
Speaker 11 (21:45):
What exactly? Really?
Speaker 3 (21:47):
Yes, Yes, I don't think about that.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
And it was I'm just like, Okay, if you're a gamer,
if you're a game developer, how could you ever believe
I just nothing about that is appropriate?
Speaker 3 (21:56):
All right? This is interesting.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
This is not the first time this has happened, And
and it sparked a lot of conversation, but an AI
weapons detection system at Lawton Child's Middle School triggered a
code read after a student was seen holding a clarinet
like a rifle. Now, the principal emphasis was to know, hey,
this is real, radio, this is keep it real.
Speaker 3 (22:18):
The principal emphasize absolutely.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
The principal emphasized that the student wasn't threatening anyone, and
the system simply misinterpreted the posture. Police responded anyway. Parents
were notified as sparking.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Debate over the reliability of AI security with say, you guys.
Speaker 7 (22:35):
I have no problem with this, sorry, Right, So the
kid who's pretending that is clarinet is a well, I
assume a rifle, right.
Speaker 2 (22:43):
Yeah, I mean, and anyone who's played clarinet, myself included,
it's not the sexiest, you know, instrument, So you got
a spice of that.
Speaker 7 (22:49):
Anyway, clarinet would be more like a musket, right doesn't
why exactly? So a I could have said weapon detected,
not a threat, right right? No black powder to detected?
The yes to err on the side of caution. If it,
you know, AI detects this could be a possible weapon,
and it doesn't.
Speaker 3 (23:09):
Alert, right, and it is boom that got a problem? Yeah,
got a problem.
Speaker 7 (23:14):
Yeah, and maybe the lesson is Okay, let's not pretend
we're using guns. Obviously. I think the system work. Actually
I think it was. Yeah, I have no problem with it.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Yeah, exactly do this right, Yeah, exactly take those chances,
all right. In the meantime, words of caution on Tampa
Bay twenty eight as a pilot drone safety program is
set to debut next year in three school districts. That's Broward,
Leon and Volusia County. Remember they're going to fly drones
and be able to into the school, be able to
real time give law enforcement.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Into the school.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
Yeah, yes, so that they would be able to tell
them what's going on.
Speaker 7 (23:50):
Well, just like a roving robot or the robot dog,
just getting intel without risking human life of sending it in.
Speaker 5 (23:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
So.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Tani Montalto lost his daughter, Gina in twenty eighteen's Marjorie
Stoneman Douglas High massacre. Debbie Hickson's husband was also among
these seventeen killed on the school grounds.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
He was the coach. How is it going to know
who it's attacking?
Speaker 11 (24:11):
How will the signal strength be.
Speaker 3 (24:13):
What about the students? Is it going to be safe?
Speaker 8 (24:15):
You have to remember we're here partially because communications failed.
Speaker 11 (24:19):
Well.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
The Campus Guardian Angel program uses drones to distract active
shooters while providing real time audio and video feeds to
guardians and law enforcement during potential threats on school campuses.
It'll be integrated with the Alissa Alert that is a
silent panic button systems named after another victim, Alissa Alhadef.
Speaker 7 (24:40):
All Right, I think we have too many of victim victims.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Exactly, exactly, all right. One a couple more school notes.
After calls to appeal all vaccine mandates in Florida, the
state Department of Health is meeting up in Panama City
Beach today to discuss changing requirements in public schools. Infectious
disease specialist doctor Eileen Marty says these decisions cannot be politicized.
Speaker 12 (25:02):
There have been any public health menasure, not even sanitation,
that comes anywhere close to having reduced death and morbidity.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Currently, Florida requires children entering a public school in kindergarten
through twelfth grade to have at least four doses of
the TDAP vaccine, which protects against tetanus and whooping cough.
But parents can opt out citing religious exemptions. And then
we're going to talk about this story a little bit
later on. But I decided this guy deserves his tea,
his flowers. Now, a Valencia College graduate is proving you're
(25:35):
never too old to learn something new. The Orlando school
announced yesterday eighty two year old Paul Grisell Read is
this year's oldest graduate. The Army veteran decided to take
a Spanish class at the school a few years ago
and then decided, what the heck, let's go for my
associate's degree. He was awarded his degree in wednesday's commencement ceremony,
(25:56):
and he isn't stopping there though. He's now working on
his bachelor's degree in English literature at UCF.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
Also, isn't that cool.
Speaker 7 (26:03):
That you need purpose? Exactly purpose? I'm actually this is
directly sent to my buddy, Captain Sunshine here in retirement.
You need to find purpose, so you do every day
and then you take a class and it led to
another exactly that thirst for knowledge is awesome and good
for that guy.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Yeah, absolutely kudos to him.
Speaker 8 (26:25):
What is he going to do with his degree?
Speaker 3 (26:27):
I don't know. You know what that that's the fascinating part.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
At eighty two, now he doesn't have to have the
pressure studying a degree exactly that that's going to serve
a career.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
It's a degree of that he loves.
Speaker 7 (26:39):
I took almost a decade off between my first semester
of college and then when I went back, and I remember,
as I was getting thinking about going back, I was
like talk. I was talking to someone at the place
at the bar. I was managing. I'm like, you know,
I'm going to be thirty years old going to school
with these See, he's got to listen. One day, you're
(26:59):
five years from now, you're going to be thirty five.
Whether you're thirty five with a degree or without a
degree is up to you. When you get that degree,
they'll never be able to take it away. So the
fact that you're thirty when you're doing it does not matter.
Speaker 3 (27:12):
It doesn't matter at all.
Speaker 8 (27:13):
And I always remembered that, and.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
It's so true because imagine what an inspiration, hopefully it
is to see an eighty two year old walking along
the campus and then the.
Speaker 3 (27:20):
Really old thirty year old Jack Bradshaw.
Speaker 5 (27:22):
Right, come on, now, I'll go back to College of
twenty eight two, Jack, I did.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
So when I went in.
Speaker 7 (27:27):
And then now you realize you've just been working in
the real world for a decade. Right now you're here
and all you have to do is give them back
the information they're giving you. And see these beautiful young women.
It is your class. It's creepy now. But when I was.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
Thirty, it didn't sound so bad, right, Furnature Jack, Then
again I was still eight years older. Tho, How what
are you gonna do?
Speaker 10 (27:53):
All right?
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Orange County is expecting record tourism tax revenue next year.
Commissioners are setting their hopes high after nearly three hundred
and eighty five million dollars was collected for the twenty
twenty four to twenty.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
Five fiscal year.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
It's not yet clear how those tax dollars will be used.
County leaders are going to discuss their options at their
upcoming meeting. Oh what started here in central Florida is
spreading Miami Dade County has now announced it has zero
tolerance when it comes to breaking disabled parking permit laws,
effective immediately. The office of County tax Collector Daniel Fernandez
(28:28):
is executing a full county wide audit of every disabled
parking permit and temporary disabled parking permit application filed within
the last twenty four months. And if you remember, this
was because earlier this month a sting operation in Lake
County over in Mount Dora at the Walmart and Target
stores netted thirty people in jail in like what it
(28:49):
was it jack two.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
Days or one day? Not at all?
Speaker 8 (28:53):
They got them quickly.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
Oh yeah, exactly for using the placards illegally. So it'll
be interesting.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
I know it's going to be interesting to see if
there's going to be other counties that are not going
to follow suit seeing how many people were nabbed just
in just a matter of hours.
Speaker 5 (29:07):
You only want to see them with a placard. I
think they need it.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
That's nearly what you think, you know, It's interesting.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
We were trying to figure out, like how would they
know they were fraudulent? I mean, I know if the
date on there isn't correct, But outside of.
Speaker 7 (29:19):
That, when you get when you also get a sheet
of paper that comes from the DMV that says the
registration for it, says that you're supposed to have it
and the and the name of the person it's connected to.
So if they asked, You're supposed to present that like
an insurance card or your license. Yeah, and if you
don't have, if the person it's connected to is not
(29:40):
with you and you're using it, that is also fraudulent use.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
Yeah, and that's that's one of the people they busted said, well,
my grandma's in the store and this is her card.
And they're like, yeah, no, dude, we've been watching you
for a while. Wow, good job on trying to I.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
Just it's one of those things I can't believe people do.
I know. I just can't believe that now.
Speaker 8 (30:00):
Lying on your resume, do people really do that a lot?
Speaker 4 (30:05):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (30:05):
Okay, what do you guys think? Has just been named
the healthiest vegetable in.
Speaker 3 (30:10):
The world asparagus? If you get this, I will give
you one hundred dollars Parson it watercress?
Speaker 8 (30:17):
Really?
Speaker 3 (30:18):
I know, right? Is that really a vegetable?
Speaker 7 (30:21):
I also, the only thing I know about watercrest it
was in an I Love Lucy episode that was it
and they talked about having watercress sandwiches.
Speaker 8 (30:30):
I had no idea what it is.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
And I remember when you used to get was it
frozen Chinese food or you'd get you get some watercress.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
It was like the crunchiest part of the meal. But yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
The CDC recently released a list ranking forty one powerhouse
fruits and vegetables, and members of the cabbage family topped
it non surprised there. According to the CDC, watercress earned
a perfect score of one hundred quote because of its
dense profile of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants and a low
calorie package end quote chink. Thees cabbage and chard came
(31:01):
in second and third, respectively, while what do you think
was ranked the least healthy veggie on the list?
Speaker 3 (31:09):
Iceberg? You know that's that's a very good sweet potato.
Really yeah, I would have thought that did pretty well.
I would have as well. I guess so. I guess so.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
And you know, of course everyone's going well too late
ate a whole bunch of it at Thanksgiving.
Speaker 5 (31:25):
Love sweet potato fries.
Speaker 3 (31:26):
Oh yeah, exactly what I thought I was doing less
helf right, I guess not just throw some watercress on it.
This is healthy, exactly What do you mean my cheeseburger,
my sweet potato fries?
Speaker 2 (31:39):
Either way, that concludes your JCS news.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
Fries.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
We're gonna take a little break and then when we
come back, Jack is going to regale us with his
choice for sinker sale. So keep it here on the
Jim Colbert Show on Real Radio one of four point one.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
Get ready to text your vote for sink or sale
on the Jim Kohlberg Show.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
Welcome back to Jim Colbert Show on Real Radio one
oh four point one.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
You know the sound of that music.
Speaker 2 (32:21):
Every Friday we invite Faiz Kara, restaurant critic for The
Orlando Weekly, to give us his reviews of some local eateries.
And of course it is always brought to you by
Tools Ace Hardware. So for all of your grilling needs,
your outdoor furniture, your rubs, your spices, Tools Ace Hardware
is the place you need to go. Gentlemen, please join
me in welcoming mister Fizkara. Hey, Danada, Danada. How are
(32:47):
you doing? I just made that up great? How's your
holiday season treating you? Are you ready for Christmas?
Speaker 6 (32:54):
Yet?
Speaker 10 (32:55):
Ready?
Speaker 9 (32:56):
I'm actually going to some holiday party right after the shows.
Speaker 11 (33:00):
So really, yeah, that's why I'm not wearing a hat.
And I looked somewhat.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
I was gonna say, your hair looks kind of fluffy. Today, dish.
We'll have fun at your party. Is this like a
work party?
Speaker 11 (33:16):
No, it's actually.
Speaker 9 (33:19):
People that we bought the house from our previous house, right,
we just maintained friendship with them, and so we're just
going to their house. They live down in winter Garden
somewhere like far, like really far. So it'll take us
at least an hour to get there.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
Oh wow, well at least, you know, you know, they
say there's a I haven't been recently myself, but apparently
there are a lot of great restaurants in winter Garden.
Speaker 9 (33:41):
There are, there are, and many more to come in fact, So, uh,
we can talk about Winter Garden the restaurants seen in
Windergarten another time, because we have a lot to get to.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
Yeah, so what do you want to start off with
with your reviews?
Speaker 9 (33:56):
We can say, oh, you know, we should start off
with what we talked about last week. You know, last
week we talked about Shae Vincent there in Hannibal Square
closing after I don't know twenty eight years or something,
and I believe their last day of services December twenty first,
and we speculated based on a conversation I had with
Brandon mcglamory at Cows and Calves in early November that
(34:16):
he would be the one that would be opening a
concept in that space.
Speaker 11 (34:20):
And sure as hell we were. We were right. You know,
we told your.
Speaker 9 (34:23):
Listeners that you know this is this is you know,
a privileged information. I guess it was, and and so yeah,
and it turned out to be true, which I always
like when when rumors have to be true.
Speaker 8 (34:34):
So especially especially when you put him out there into the.
Speaker 11 (34:37):
World, into the world.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
Yeah, it makes you look like the genius. Yeah.
Speaker 11 (34:42):
That was not planned.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
It was not planned. It's just the way the universe works.
Speaker 11 (34:48):
So he's so Brandon mcglamory.
Speaker 9 (34:50):
He was known for Luma on Park, the much Miss
Luma on Park, prato In on Park Avenue, and Luke's
Kitchen there in Maitland, but it's no longer with that
restaurant group starting his own venture.
Speaker 11 (35:01):
It's kind of it's going to be called the.
Speaker 9 (35:02):
Reverie and it'll it'll yeah, it'll span both Shave Vincent
and the adjacent Hannibal's Lounge spaces, so it'll be in
and what he's calling an American brasserie. So it'll have
you know, it'll have a nod to European and French
French influence with a bit of you know, American sensibilities,
is what he's saying. It'll be, it'll be approachable, it'll
(35:25):
be you know, he's very much into sourcing locally. So
look for that in the fall of twenty twenty six,
I believe, is what they said. And they'll have cocktails.
I have a pretty decent wine list. They're going to
completely gut the place. And the funny thing is that
the owner of Shave Vincent is staying on because he
owns the property, so he'll effectively be their landlord.
Speaker 11 (35:48):
So yeah, look for that. It's called the Reverie xcex Fall.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
All right, Well, I know one thing that you are
going to be able to give us a review on
is Pearla's Pizza.
Speaker 11 (35:58):
Pearli's Pizza.
Speaker 9 (35:59):
Yeah, so this is Michael Kalantis, is what he It's
this non conformist pie house is what I was, was
what I like to call it, and it's it's actually
equal parts pizza, rea and vinyl record bar.
Speaker 11 (36:11):
Oh cool, I'm telling yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 9 (36:13):
So the the thumping base, uh, there there's a thumping base.
There's to the point where you know, when our pizza
was set was set on top of this this chrome stand.
It was like vibrating like a coin on a washing machine.
It I mean, it's it's got that vibe. It's a
very vibe kind of place.
Speaker 11 (36:29):
But the pizza, the pizza is also great.
Speaker 9 (36:31):
And in version one point oh of Perlis, which was
on Virginia Drive, I was a big fan of of
a pizza called the It's bananas and it's it's obvious
has bananas on there. It's got like pepperoni cups, Calabria
and Chile. But my only knock against is pizza is
that I didn't feel there was enough bananas on it.
And so with the with version two point oh, which
(36:52):
is on Fairbanks next to the recently closed bar Coatta
and and so Ski there he's he's got that sing
pizza on there, and once again I didn't I felt
there weren't enough bananas in there. And both Klantas and
the general manager's name is Colin Burke, they said they're
a bit leary of of placing too many bananas on
the pizza.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
Yeah, you got it.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
These people into bananas on pizza when you consider how
people react to pineapple.
Speaker 7 (37:16):
Because yeah, my favorite number of pineapple of bananas on
the pizza is zero if not, if not a negative number.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
You know, real quick fight is if we do get
the chance, I do hope you will be able to
review where Jack got his lunch today, but we'll leave
that for after. We were talking about Burla's banana pizza.
What was the texture? Like, I mean, was it was
it sweet to balance the savory? For those who think there's.
Speaker 9 (37:43):
Yeah, so there's meaty, there's there's the pepperoni cups around there,
there's Colabrian chili's. You have this, you have the spicy,
and the bananas are there to offset a bit of that.
But you know, the funny thing is that both both
colantas and and the general managers said that some people
ordered the order this pizza without the bananas, to which
I respond ordering ordering a pizza called It's bananas without bananas,
(38:04):
SI simply.
Speaker 3 (38:05):
Bananas, had a whole lot of bananas.
Speaker 8 (38:09):
That would be me.
Speaker 9 (38:10):
My well, my favorite pizza there actually is the one
called the Hawaiian Punch because it incorporates what I love
in a pizza. It's got it's got the sweet, it's
got this pineapple jam, it's got the smoky, it's got
bacon on it, it's got fiery, it's got the spicy
with julapanos, and then it's got the pickled it's got
pickled onions on there. And for me, this was my
(38:31):
favorite pizza because there was a lot going on in
every body and it was thoroughly gratifying. The crust is
absolutely great. The pizza olo there, the guy's name is
Marco Puglieli, and you know, I should say that they're
making what they're what they're touting is Florida Man pizza
with an intent to be hated by all Italians.
Speaker 11 (38:51):
That's your stadd goal.
Speaker 9 (38:54):
That's a brilliant But there's a pizza there. It's called
the it's called Mom's Spaghetti and Meatballs. And there's no
space getty actually on the pizza, but there's meat balls
on it.
Speaker 11 (39:02):
It's fantastic. They got things like lemon.
Speaker 9 (39:05):
Ricotta, garlic, butter, basil, parsley, parmesan and and I don't
imagine there's that many Italians that wouldn't like this pizza.
So there's another one called Tika the hut. It's an
indian Ish type of pizza with with chicken and garama
sal and pickled onions, and that one left much to
(39:26):
be desired, especially.
Speaker 11 (39:27):
It looks the Indianish people at our table. Yeah, yeah,
it wasn't. It wasn't. It wasn't all of that.
Speaker 9 (39:32):
But the wings are great though, which Jack, if you're
watching on Jim Colbert Live right now, he has the
garlic knots on there, and the garlic knots I thought
were great. You know, Pizza Bruno, Pizza Bruno look Out
and Booglieli also makes on weekends, he makes this banana
pudding and the one thing that it doesn't lack bananas.
Speaker 2 (39:51):
So see, Jack, you can still get your banana fix
without putting it on your pizza.
Speaker 3 (39:55):
Absolutely.
Speaker 8 (39:55):
Now.
Speaker 7 (39:56):
You also went to a place that I'm intrigued by
here and you know what does it aligne When there's
a line out the door, You're like, Hey, what's happening
in that point? No, And for the longest time Hmart
has had a line, so you you recently got in.
Speaker 9 (40:12):
I've gone like three times. So the first time I
went there, there was no line. I mean it was
I'm not saying that it wasn't busy, but there was
no line to get in. I went with my wife
and she almost got into a fight at the in
the waiting for waiting in line for at the bath
for the bathroom way. We left immediately, and so I
(40:34):
went back the next day to do some grocery shopping.
And let me tell you it, they have an amazing
and amazing selection of produce and meats and snacks. But
I'm telling you the the fish market they have there
is is worth is worth just going.
Speaker 11 (40:49):
For just for itself.
Speaker 9 (40:50):
It's they they're they're getting deliveries daily from the Fulton
Fish Market in New York and the Bronx. When I went,
they had live lobster there for eight dollars and eight
cents a pounds, so.
Speaker 11 (41:01):
I picked up. I picked up a couple of.
Speaker 9 (41:03):
Lobster for twenty bucks and I cooked them up that night.
I've also I've also picked up fresh Durian, not frozen,
but fresh durian. And you know what durian is. It's
the king of all fruits. And it literally smells like
poo yeah.
Speaker 11 (41:17):
When you open it.
Speaker 9 (41:18):
But but we live, Me and and a few you
know fellow food hooligans. We live hacked this thing in
the parking lot, much of the chagrin of the security
team there, but I'm thankful they let us cut this
thing up and eat it in the parking lot because
it was it was it was delicious. If you haven't
had Durian, I'm a big fan. They have fresh Durian there.
(41:38):
But but what Jack is showing right now, if you're
watching on Jim Colbert Live, is the is the food
court and so so it is perpetually busy. A lot
of people go there for for the variety of like
Korean fair and and in one case a non Korean fair.
There's a place there called Cheetahon Kotsu Place and they
specialize in katsu, which are essentially cutlets panko fried cutlets,
(42:01):
and it is so crisp, it is so light, it's
the absolutely if you're into katsu, definitely go to that place.
What Jack is showing right now is a uh is topuki,
a place called Jaws Took and.
Speaker 11 (42:14):
This is sort of like a soup type of dish.
Speaker 9 (42:17):
It sets in a gochu jang based sauce, so it's
very spicy and it's filled with what totao buki, which
are which are these cylindrical, chewy sort of rice cakes.
And there's a quail leg in there. There's some fish cakes,
there's cabbage, there's all kinds of stuff. And the funny
thing is when we ordered this, they have regular and spicy,
and the woman behind the counters she said, just so
(42:38):
you know, the regular is also very spicy.
Speaker 11 (42:41):
So we we just got the regular and I and
it is very spicy.
Speaker 9 (42:46):
There's a place next door called There's there's the katsu
right there.
Speaker 11 (42:50):
If you're watching, there's another place there called you Chan.
Speaker 9 (42:54):
And if there's one thing you have at this food court,
if there's one thing you should you should have, it's
a It's from a place called you Chun, and it's
the mule ning me On, which is a they're essentially
cold buckwheat noodles. That are and there's a picture of
it right there. They're cold buckwheat noodles beneath an icy
slush of vinegary beef broth.
Speaker 3 (43:14):
And it is so good. It's top sure because none
of us.
Speaker 9 (43:17):
I'm telling you it may not sound good, but I'm telling
you taste this thing.
Speaker 11 (43:21):
It is outstanding.
Speaker 3 (43:22):
Did you have to sleep in the living room? Yeah? Man,
slushy beef broth? What?
Speaker 9 (43:29):
Yeah, I know it sounds crazy, it's a cold beef broth.
It's like it's like a slush. It's an icy slush,
but it is outstanding and especially in the hot day.
Speaker 11 (43:37):
Yeah, I'm telling you.
Speaker 9 (43:38):
The soup this potter cold, honestly, it's it's it's a
great soup. It's top with like Julian cucumbers and pickled
radish and that soft boiled egg and sesame seeds and
it's served with this with this hot sauce. This it's
it's called a name meon sauce. And it's truly truly outstanding.
But you can read about all the places that I visited.
I went to every single one of those food vendors'
(44:00):
a place called mung Ya Barbecue that has amazing kimchi
pancakes and that's a great, great option for vegetarians or
people don't eat meat, because a lot of the options
there are pretty meat heavy. But said, they do have
some non meat items and the kimchi pancake, I'm telling you,
and there's a picture of it right there.
Speaker 11 (44:17):
Yeah, so it's very good.
Speaker 2 (44:20):
And thirty maybe thirty sixty seconds to rub the to
get the slushy beef broth out of our head. Give
us a real quick review for the Haraz Coffee House Horaz.
Speaker 9 (44:32):
Coffee, So that just opened. So it's a it's a
Michigan based Yemeny cafe that's open next to the recently
opened Pig Floyd's there in winter Park. I believe it's
fifteen sixty one Lee Road. And so I mean they
offer both Eastern and Western style coffees. But in addition
to like Turkish coffee and Saudi coffee, Saudi coffee is
(44:53):
very much like Turkish coffee, but it has saffron and
cardama minute you know, they offer everything for macha and
fruit teas and and and juices and such like this.
But but Yemeni coffee, you know, it comes from the
mountain mountainous region of Yemen called I believe it's called
Jabal Harahz. And so a lot of Yemeny coffee is
flavored with the aforementioned saffron and cardamom and ginger and
(45:16):
cinnamon and you know, uh.
Speaker 11 (45:19):
Things like that.
Speaker 9 (45:20):
So and they also have a coffee husk, so you know,
the shell of the coffee bean. They use that to
make a coffee like beverage as well. So it looks
beautiful in there. I haven't been that just opened yesterday,
but it looks gorgeous inside. If you're into coffee and
you want to try something a little different, Harahs Coffee
House in winter Park.
Speaker 2 (45:40):
And of course, just like you said, Faias, they can
get the reviews of all of the restaurants we talked
about today and more at The Orlando Weekly.
Speaker 3 (45:47):
Where can they find you on social media?
Speaker 11 (45:49):
Yeah, you can find me on Instagram.

Thank you so much, Tom for joining us.
Speaker 5 (48:03):
We really do for the boy. I love it here.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
I know well, we love you coming over here because
you helped make it that much more fun. And what
we're gonna do now is we're gonna bring you one
of those really great feel good stories that hit just
a little extra special this time of the year. But
you know, teachers, right, so much as asked to teachers,
in fact, it seems like more and more and more
as asked to teachers, and then you have some teachers
(48:26):
who answer that call and are able to go above
and beyond. So gentlemen, please join me in welcoming. Megan
DeWitt's a teacher at Triangle Elementary School in Mount Dora, yay.
Speaker 3 (48:40):
Why Megan, how are you?
Speaker 13 (48:42):
I'm wonderful, how are you good?
Speaker 3 (48:43):
Good? Good? Listen.
Speaker 2 (48:44):
I came across your story this morning on Fox thirty
five and as you know, immediately put a call into
the school and said, we need to talk to Megan
and find out how of all things, your school wish
list was fulfilled by none other than Paris Hilton.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
How did that happen? So?
Speaker 13 (49:04):
I am a second year teacher, and I created a
wish list right when I started teaching through Amazon and
all also donors choose, and I turned my classroom into
a home very very quickly, a safe space that the
students want to be at and race. I teach at
(49:25):
a Title I school, which means majority or low income,
and I provide daily snacks for my students and I
did that all year last year, and so at the
beginning of this year, we knew that we had a
high need because of a lot going on in the world.
And we feed our students over the weekend. So we
(49:49):
send food home for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for children
who need a little extra. And sometimes we have forty
students and sometimes we have seventy. It can range on
the needs and we were short on food, Our school
was short on food. So I said, I can step up,
and I think I can make this happen. And so
(50:09):
I added a lot of food items, non perishable items
that people could use that live in their cars, live
in hotels, That's easy to cook, easy to eat. And
Paris Hilton happened to see one of my tiktoks and
because that's what my TikTok page is devoted to, is
raising supplies for other teachers for my classroom. Just wherever
(50:33):
there's a need, I'm there to fill it. And she
saw one of my videos asking for food and she
purchased a ton of stuff from my list and supplies
a food and supplies, And I was just why me.
I'm just a teacher, I'm just a mom. I am
(50:53):
just like why me. I just felt so thrilled that
she saw that it caught her attention and we and
so we filled our pantry. And then because she shared
my post on her social media page, it helped me
get a lot more followers. I was only at six
thousand followers on TikTok, and then I grew several thousand
(51:17):
followers from her, and then it just launched every Since then,
I've just had viral after viral after viral video. One
video had three million followers views.
Speaker 2 (51:28):
I know, I would kill me those kinds of numbers,
Are you kidding? All I can think of is, oh,
how do I get those kinds of numbers? But Megan
real quick, before you know, Paris Hilton stepped up and
of course her her fans and followers as well a
lot of those snacks that would that was money that
came out of your pocket.
Speaker 13 (51:49):
Correct, No, so it was the community. It was people
from all over. So I was doing this from all
over the United States. And now it's reached the attention
of other countries too, So I've had some people donate
from Scotland, from Europe, so it's pretty incredible. And the
sky is the limit. And this mission was just put heavy, heavy,
(52:12):
heavy on my heart by God, and it's my mission,
That's what I call it.
Speaker 2 (52:16):
Well, I love the tagline your text message today that
it said full belly's full hearts, which really is true.
Right when children don't motto yeah, Because when children don't
have to worry about being hungry in the classroom, they're
ready to learn.
Speaker 13 (52:30):
So I say love first, then academics come. They have
to feel safe, they have to feel half full bellies.
They can't learn on empty tummies.
Speaker 3 (52:40):
Yeah that's true, Jackie, what were you going to say?
Speaker 7 (52:42):
Yeah, we have Megan's story posted on our website Real
Radio dot FM slash wish and you can go there
get caught up on the story. But there's also a
link to your wish list. Now, this is awesome what
Paris Hilton Didst Bravo to her, and it fills the
pantry one time, but unfortunately this is an ongoing situation
(53:02):
in our communities. And so what do you need moving forward, Megan?
Because I know your wish list is still there.
Speaker 13 (53:10):
So in addition to the food, that's going to be
forever until there's not a need, I forever will do this.
But we are also putting gifts under the Christmas tree
for children who will not have anything. And so far
in the last few weeks we've been able to help.
I don't even know. I have to get my book.
It's just been like a way teaching being a mom
(53:31):
and doing this. We have five schools lined up every
day at my home. We work out of my garage,
so we need toys and we need food, so anything
on that list is a need and I try to
put a no under each item what it will be
used for. And I have so many schools on the
(53:52):
maybe list because we're just running out. As soon as
the food comes in, the toys come in, it goes
right back out.
Speaker 2 (53:59):
Well, it's amazing from what I read. Not only have
you been able to help the students at your school.
We're talking to teacher Megan de Witch, she teaches at
Triangle Elementary School at Mount Dora, but I read you
were also able to help other schools in Orange County?
Was it Seminal County as well?
Speaker 13 (54:15):
Yeah, just any I'm just saying spread the word. I'll
help whoever I can help, and I'm going to my
husband helps me, my children help me. We've been working
until ten twelve o'clock at night. Wow, And I just
keep telling myself, let's just do this until schools out,
help as many children as we can, and then I
will rest and then we'll get back at it after
(54:35):
the new year.
Speaker 2 (54:36):
Well, I don't know about that because it also what
I read, is it sure you're going to be starting
a nonprofit organization because of all of this generosity?
Speaker 13 (54:43):
Yeah, so that is the goal. Is to turn it
into a nonprofit after the holidays. I'm really excited about this.
Speaker 3 (54:51):
Well, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (54:51):
I think you're going to have some choices to make megan.
It's either going to be a social media star teacher
nonprofit organized. It seems like you already are wearing an
awful lot of hats.
Speaker 13 (55:03):
Well, teachers wear many hats.
Speaker 2 (55:05):
Yes they do, Yes, they do, Yes they do. What's
been the reaction of the students that you've been helping
in their families? Do you see relief on their faces
that they probably just they just weren't expecting this.
Speaker 13 (55:18):
Yes, I've had students tell me that I love like Jesus.
Speaker 3 (55:22):
Oh.
Speaker 13 (55:22):
I have had students specifically ask me for certain types
of shoes. I've had students just say why do you
do this, teacher? And why do you do this? Teacher?
Speaker 3 (55:36):
Right?
Speaker 13 (55:36):
And my response is because I love you and strangers
love you.
Speaker 2 (55:39):
Oh, those are the best words that especially a child
who between food and security, watching their parents struggle. You know,
I was, I'm the product of a single mother myself,
and those times that you know, they parents don't think
their children notice the stress, the worry.
Speaker 3 (55:57):
The truth of matter is.
Speaker 2 (55:58):
They do very much much so notice, and there's an
extra kind of a weird sense of guilt as a
child because you know your parent is working that hard
to take care of you, but you're too young to
do anything to contribute outside of loading the dishwasher and
doing it correctly. But I did want to ask what
has been your children's reaction to this, because, of course,
(56:18):
when when their needs are met right, it's it can
be it can become easy to become selfish and think
about what you want at this time of the year.
What has it been like for them to see others
who don't have much get something and being my own children, yes,
your own children, and how old are so.
Speaker 13 (56:34):
My husband and myself grew up that life. We grew
up very.
Speaker 3 (56:39):
Very humbly, you know, we grew up that life.
Speaker 13 (56:41):
So this is why it's I think especially near and
dear to our hearts, and my children know about our lives,
and they are very compassionate and empathetic. And even as
a couple of years ago I went through a we
went through a hard time as a family. I lost
my small business and I had to go back to
(57:01):
school and I didn't have a job, and it was
really hard for us, and so they know that life
too for a short time a little bit. But I've
always taught them about giving and loving and so to
them it's natural.
Speaker 3 (57:19):
And they get so much more, They get so much
more back. How old are your kids?
Speaker 13 (57:24):
They just both turned eleven and thirteen?
Speaker 2 (57:27):
Wow, oh wow, wow fifth and seventh and congratulations on
having a teenager.
Speaker 13 (57:33):
Now, yeah, I think she's eighteen.
Speaker 3 (57:38):
I don't know's you know.
Speaker 5 (57:41):
You're in for it more than you know.
Speaker 3 (57:43):
She definitely thinks she's eighteen.
Speaker 2 (57:45):
So again, Jack can where can folks go to see
that entire list? And if you're watching us on our
YouTube channel right now, Jack has some of the items
that are up.
Speaker 8 (57:53):
This is the list. So this is how it works.
You go to Real Radio, DOTFM, slash Wish.
Speaker 7 (57:56):
It's going to have a little article about the story,
and there is there's a link to Megan's wish list
that goes to Amazon. Now, when you order any of
these items on Amazon, you pay for it, but it
automatically will be delivered to your location, right Megan, Yes, it.
Speaker 13 (58:12):
Comes right to our home. We work out of our garage.
Hopefully one day we'll have a warehouse, but for now
it's out of our garage.
Speaker 8 (58:20):
So I'm looking at items.
Speaker 7 (58:22):
There are toy items that would represent Christmas gifts, but
there's also things like cereal and snacks.
Speaker 8 (58:28):
Because that need for food is always there.
Speaker 13 (58:31):
Correct, our students are going to be out of school
for fourteen days. That's fourteen breakfasts, lunch, and dinners they
may not have.
Speaker 2 (58:39):
And that's something that as we go into the holiday season,
I know just breaks everyone's heart, right that a child
needs to go to school just to make sure that
not only they get an education, but that they get
a meal that they can count on. Well, if there's
one thing I can tell you, Megan, is that we
have the best listeners in all of radio, so I
can promise you that they are going to be coming
through for you with flying colors.
Speaker 7 (58:58):
And not only that, the Colbert Show here is going
to send you about one hundred dollars than the food
items on your list.
Speaker 3 (59:06):
Yay, that's awesome, That is awesome.
Speaker 16 (59:09):
I'm using you are going to make me cry because
this is just I cry all the time because it's
been blessing after blessing after blessing, and it's just we're
changing so many lives.
Speaker 13 (59:23):
Some people say, oh my one item helps. Yes, your
one item is feeling a heart or it's feeling their
tummy exactly.
Speaker 2 (59:33):
And but I did want to make sure you are
aware of this, Megan, that Jack was Jack, that's not
coming out of your wallet.
Speaker 7 (59:38):
No, No, I am going to use my car. I'm
using my company card for this.
Speaker 3 (59:42):
There we go, that we listen before we go. Hey,
as long as we get the items right.
Speaker 13 (59:49):
No, And also I don't care where it comes from.
Speaker 8 (59:52):
I like this fidget toy set.
Speaker 7 (59:54):
Oh yeah, there's yes, I gotta I gotta throw some
toys in there because it's the holidays. Yes, the need
is food and that is powermount. However, you got to
get some toys in their too.
Speaker 2 (01:00:03):
You know what, I think all three of us should
should you know? So Jack, you go ahead and use
your company thing and we'll throw in some stuff too,
right Tom.
Speaker 3 (01:00:10):
So absolutely absolutely.
Speaker 5 (01:00:12):
Kids are my favorite kids and old people love them,
love them.
Speaker 3 (01:00:15):
Level you like the way I pin them to the
wall on that That been better than putting someone on
the spot on me. And we've got your back. You're old.
Speaker 13 (01:00:22):
Tom, been a little pressed up because last minute there's
so many schools. We need help, we need help, and
I just want to help as many as I can.
Even though we've already helped I want to say over
sixteen different schools. It's not enough. I need I want
to help everybody so well.
Speaker 2 (01:00:38):
When you love like Jesus, you get blessed, right, And
that's the thing. And I before we go, I really
want to thank you because you really are a credit
to the to the professional teacher, because once again you go,
you show that more often than not, our teachers go
above and beyond what they're just expected to do in
the classroom when it comes to teaching young minds, but
becoming a full human being involves some much more than that.
(01:01:01):
So kudos to you for being such a fantastic example
to your own children, but especially to your students, because
that's all those little minds and hearts that are going
to go out into the world and hopefully follow in
your footsteps.
Speaker 13 (01:01:13):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 3 (01:01:14):
You're welcome. Tom Were you going to say something, Oh no,
I just love.
Speaker 5 (01:01:17):
You so much.
Speaker 6 (01:01:18):
And I didn't even know about this story until I
got here today, and it's it's it's made it Christmas
for me.
Speaker 8 (01:01:24):
It has awesome.
Speaker 3 (01:01:25):
Yay, that's our goal. This is a stuff.
Speaker 7 (01:01:28):
And yeah, what's really cool is because and I was
yesterday just said, Jim asked, are you in the Christmas spirit?
And my three grown up daughters there's a I think
they'll all be out of town on Christmas. Oh no,
but this is something you can do that definitely trigger
the Christmas spirit.
Speaker 2 (01:01:44):
Absolutely, absolutely so, Megan, please keep us posted, especially in
the new year.
Speaker 3 (01:01:49):
We would love to have you back.
Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
We would love to hear what your progress is, and
more importantly, we would really like to help you reach
those goals and be able to get you your own
building and maybe move an operation out of your garage.
Speaker 13 (01:02:01):
Thank you. I say, growth with my social media means
more children we can help. And I'm just so thankful
for this community. There's so much more good in the
world than there is bad.
Speaker 3 (01:02:12):
Yes, there is.
Speaker 7 (01:02:13):
And Megan, what again, what are your social media handles?
What's your TikTok handle?
Speaker 13 (01:02:18):
It's called Squirrel around the World, and mostly it's TikTok
that I post, but I'm also on Facebook and Instagram,
but TikTok is where I always go. First.
Speaker 8 (01:02:29):
Squirrel around the World.
Speaker 3 (01:02:31):
I love that, all right, Squirrel around the World.
Speaker 2 (01:02:33):
Megan, thank you again for carving some time out of
your day to day and sharing your story. We can't
wait to see how much the listeners come through for us.
God bless Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Merry Christmas,
Merry Christmas. Yay Meghan Dowit's Triangle Elementary School. Go to
real Radio, dot FM, slash wish to see her list
and then just like Jack, add your name to it
(01:02:55):
and buy some items and let's make this happen.
Speaker 3 (01:02:57):
People come through community for community.
Speaker 8 (01:02:59):
And if you can use your company card.
Speaker 2 (01:03:00):
Absolutely, Hey, how could the company be upset?
Speaker 17 (01:03:04):
Right?
Speaker 3 (01:03:04):
You're just you're putting more good out into the world.
Speaker 8 (01:03:06):
She just gave us twenty minutes of content.
Speaker 2 (01:03:08):
Yes, we certainly do, and I pray I can get
some of those social media numbers.
Speaker 3 (01:03:13):
Thank you, Megan. Hopefully we'll talk to you.
Speaker 13 (01:03:15):
I'll never forget you.
Speaker 2 (01:03:16):
Oh, we won't forget you either, and thank you for
the work that you're doing. All right, Well, you got it.
Absolutely what a great story to come across. I'm so
happy we were able.
Speaker 3 (01:03:24):
To talk to her today.
Speaker 8 (01:03:25):
You found it, yeah, job.
Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
Well, as soon as I saw it, I was like,
this is an interview that has to happen.
Speaker 6 (01:03:29):
Yeah, and you never know how someone's going to do
in an interview. Right, Oh she killed.
Speaker 3 (01:03:33):
I know, I know she was nervous, but I like,
don't worry.
Speaker 2 (01:03:36):
This is going to be a fun conversation with friends
and it will go buy faster than you think. So again, please,
if you have it, doesn't like she said, even one
item is an item that's going to help one of
these children in need for so many schools.
Speaker 7 (01:03:48):
You can get a box of ciro for less than
five dollars delivered to her garage.
Speaker 3 (01:03:51):
You can't even get that at the grocery store.
Speaker 8 (01:03:53):
How about that?
Speaker 2 (01:03:54):
Yeah, so do that again. Real Radio Dot FM, slash Wish. Okay,
we're going to take a little break when we come back.
Maybe we may just have a solution for those who
have an aggressive dog and just don't know what to do. Well,
a new study came out with maybe an option. We'll
talk about that next. So keep it here on the
Jim Culbert Show on Real Radio one O four point one.
Speaker 18 (01:04:22):
Hey, anah, it's just a deb on the mic on
this Aloha Friday. Anyway, gotta make a very strong recommendation.
All right, maybe a little bit of substance or a
combination of whatever gets you through it's down on. Watch
Shrek the Halls. I had never seen that Christmas special.
Absolutely cry laugh through the whole thing. Couldn't even eat food.
(01:04:45):
It was amazing, super funny, Jeb. I know that's up
your alley.
Speaker 6 (01:04:49):
I love.
Speaker 18 (01:04:49):
I have a great weekend.
Speaker 2 (01:04:51):
Aloha, Helloha, brother mad thank you Sam. I'm telling you guys,
Shrek the Halls.
Speaker 7 (01:04:57):
Okay, anything to do with Shrek hilarious.
Speaker 3 (01:05:01):
There you go. Add it to the holiday list.
Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
It will make you laugh, seriously, it will make you
laugh out loud.
Speaker 3 (01:05:07):
Belly laugh.
Speaker 2 (01:05:07):
In fact, Welcome back to the Jim Colbert SHOWRLE Radio
one oh four point one. Jim will be back with
us on Monday.
Speaker 3 (01:05:13):
Just taking the spare day off and gave us about
twelve hours notice.
Speaker 8 (01:05:17):
Here you go here, I am the Prince exactly. Tom's
the Prince. Yeah you Tom Sorel.
Speaker 3 (01:05:23):
Yay, Tom Sorels joining us for the day today.
Speaker 7 (01:05:26):
I'm having on a beautiful weather day too. He could
be out riding, but he's in our studio.
Speaker 2 (01:05:32):
No, he put the tomsicle away and decided to join
the Jim Culbert Show on this beautiful Friday afternoon, which.
Speaker 6 (01:05:38):
Is weird because you know, I love Jim like the
day is long and I never see him.
Speaker 3 (01:05:43):
You're going only come here to fill in when he's gone.
Speaker 7 (01:05:46):
You're not the first guest host to notice that exactly.
Speaker 5 (01:05:48):
So he is he avoiding me?
Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
Now he's avoiding all of us. Like I said, though,
he'll be back on Monday. And a big thanks once
again to Meghan Dewitz, the second teacher over a Triangle
elementary school.
Speaker 3 (01:06:02):
That was such a heartwarming.
Speaker 7 (01:06:03):
That girl is some kind of wonderful she really. Oh my,
So see Jim Culbert Show made their donation. We sent
some some toy items, some gift wrap, and then connect
for a game. And then the rest is all food,
mostly breakfast, cereal and oatmeal, and you know, not fun
stuff but necessary stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:06:23):
I don't know if it hit you guys as hard
as it hit me. But when she was talking about
food items, I was thinking, oh, yeah, of course, we
always talk about nonperishables. But then when she talked about
food items that are easy to cook in your car,
in your car, yeah, in your car or in a
hotel room, I was that that gut punched me.
Speaker 6 (01:06:43):
And you think, well, I could go on about this forever,
but it's in Lake County.
Speaker 5 (01:06:47):
Yeah, it's right there.
Speaker 3 (01:06:48):
It's right there. I mean, it's right here. It's right
here in our own community, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:06:52):
And again, so thanks to her, her husband, her two kids,
who are really spearheading this effort, and thanks to each
and every one of you who heard that interview.
Speaker 3 (01:07:00):
We will be.
Speaker 2 (01:07:01):
Posting the podcast of it as well. And then you know,
making your own donation, big or small, and again you
can see that list at a real radio dot FM
slash wish.
Speaker 8 (01:07:11):
Yeah, quick note on that.
Speaker 7 (01:07:12):
You go to that, it'll say the Jim Colbert Show,
but there's another radio station on top of I don't
know what that. There's a ghost in the system. Oh no,
you're in the right website. If you see the Jim
Colbert Show logo, you are there, and it says Paras
Hilton turns floor to teachers wish into a holiday miracle.
But if you scroll down, it says click here to
see the wish list. It goes right to Amazon and
(01:07:33):
allows you to you know, make the purchase and have
it delivered right to Megan in Mount Dora.
Speaker 3 (01:07:38):
Which mean, couldn't make it any easier than that.
Speaker 7 (01:07:40):
Yeah, seriously, our donation that I just click will be
delivered tomorrow by eleven am.
Speaker 3 (01:07:47):
And thank you for doing that, Jack, I really appreciate
you doing that.
Speaker 8 (01:07:49):
Again, it's not my money, I know, but.
Speaker 5 (01:07:51):
Again, Jeff Bezos should match our donation.
Speaker 3 (01:07:53):
Jeff Bezos absolutely absolutely.
Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
I think he won't, but I'm just saying the challenge
is still there.
Speaker 3 (01:08:00):
Let me throw down that gauntlet exactly.
Speaker 7 (01:08:02):
People ask you what her TikTok name is. Her handle
on TikTok is squirrel around the world, like a squirrel
you see out in the park, a squirrel.
Speaker 8 (01:08:10):
Around the world.
Speaker 3 (01:08:12):
I love that handle.
Speaker 5 (01:08:13):
So she's creative too.
Speaker 2 (01:08:14):
Oh my god, Jack, what would we do to get
any video with three million views? Oh well, we won't
mention it because it's not going to be very Christmas like, Hey,
how you doing?
Speaker 6 (01:08:24):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (01:08:25):
How you doing?
Speaker 8 (01:08:26):
All right?
Speaker 11 (01:08:27):
Real quick?
Speaker 2 (01:08:27):
I want to pay off the tea. So we hear
a lot about aggressive dogs, right. We know that there
are dog breeds that apartment complexes won't allow you to have,
certain dogs, that your homeowner's insurance won't ensure your home
if you have, and there's always you know, you want
every dog to have their fair shot at life, and
aggressive behavior can really get in the way with that.
(01:08:50):
So I know we all always joke about, you know,
giving your dog a gummy or you don't want to
do that because it can be very, very dangerous. But
a new study says a marijuana that extract could help
soothe aggressive dogs. Really yeah, So, researchers reported in the
journal Frontiers and Veterinary Science that dogs given CBD supplements
(01:09:11):
long term has less aggression than other dogs. I'm guessing
they're just looking for the doritos.
Speaker 6 (01:09:19):
Wait, the CBD is not what would get the dog,
huh exactly, that's what would take the swelling out of
the dog.
Speaker 3 (01:09:25):
Or whatever exactly, So they think maybe that's it.
Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
So yeah, the researchers now, and this is interesting because
researchers say the behavioral change shows the potential of CBD
as a therapy for dogs with behavioral issues. So if
you have a dog who's highly anxious and is easy
to nip because they get nervous, really easy or aggressive behavior,
I'm hoping that this is you know, continuing science in
(01:09:48):
that end, because again, you know, really great dogs and
sometimes those little quirks can really get in the way
of having a good canine relationship. Not everyone can have
a Tobi Wan Kenobi.
Speaker 3 (01:10:00):
My golden dude is like, wait a minute, there's nothing
wrong with it. And I can attest to that because.
Speaker 5 (01:10:05):
He's totally not non aggressive.
Speaker 3 (01:10:07):
He showed me all of his photos. No, not all
of your photos, just a smattering just again his birthday party,
you know.
Speaker 8 (01:10:15):
Yeah, wow, Jack, Can I show you my dogs?
Speaker 7 (01:10:19):
Actually, I just realized we need to post a link
on our Instagram and remind people that Thomas here.
Speaker 3 (01:10:25):
And listen live.
Speaker 7 (01:10:25):
Do you have a pick a picture of you and
your dog that you can send me? Oh well, I'll try.
Speaker 3 (01:10:30):
In other words, he has several. He'll just have to
find the one appropriate one.
Speaker 7 (01:10:37):
Either one of you is fully dressed and send that
to me. We're fully dressed, I'll put it on our
Instagram right.
Speaker 3 (01:10:42):
Now, exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:10:44):
All right, Well so again so CBD, but not for
Toby one, Kenobi.
Speaker 7 (01:10:48):
Well no, but so, but don't just go out and
buy anything though, who they should consult somebody.
Speaker 3 (01:10:54):
At reconsult your veterinarian. You see that.
Speaker 2 (01:10:57):
You see the videos on insta TikTok where you know,
so one is rushing their dog to the vet because
they got into a gummy or you know, and and
it can be very very dangerous for dogs. So this
isn't something you want to self diagnose or self administer.
You're gonna want to work with a professional.
Speaker 3 (01:11:11):
And moves like to eat stuff they do, and it's
always the stuff they're not supposed to eat.
Speaker 8 (01:11:16):
We can't.
Speaker 7 (01:11:16):
I don't bring home flowers anymore because you know, because
I'm cheap now because the cats, the cats, they destroy them.
Speaker 2 (01:11:25):
Yes, they'll eat and then they'll get sick and they'll
still eat them. Yes, And you can't put them up
high enough because they can get there too.
Speaker 3 (01:11:30):
Correct exactly. But what we love it the struggle is real.
The struggle is real.
Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
Man, We understand people, all right, We're going to take
a break. When we come back, we're going to revisit
the story of the oldest graduate at Valencia College this week.
So what we're going to do is we're going to
ask a question. So join us after the break and
we're going to ask you, you know, what would you
do if you could go back in time and change
(01:11:55):
something and finish something, do something, And you're welcome to
leave your talkbacks as well on that.
Speaker 7 (01:12:00):
Also coming up in the five o'clock hour, Michael Andres
Yes in studio as well as we'll have trivia. Well,
we'll do our normal Friday trivia. Tom Sols has graciously
volunteered to be our game show hosts right today, and
we have tickets to Universal on the line.
Speaker 8 (01:12:18):
All happening in the five o'clock hour.
Speaker 3 (01:12:19):
Now it could have been Pat Sajack.
Speaker 5 (01:12:20):
Did I ever tell you that story?
Speaker 2 (01:12:24):
We'll do all of that next, So keep it right
here on Real Radio one of four point one.
Speaker 8 (01:12:35):
Jamie, Michigan, Bob here.
Speaker 6 (01:12:38):
I usually want to catch your show on the on
the repeats, but today I'm here.
Speaker 3 (01:12:44):
Oh, you guys, have a good day.
Speaker 11 (01:12:46):
But he.
Speaker 3 (01:12:49):
Sounded like he was skiing somewhere, going downhill.
Speaker 8 (01:12:52):
Michigan, Bob.
Speaker 6 (01:12:53):
Jimmy ain't here obviously, Sorry, Michigan Tom is here.
Speaker 2 (01:12:58):
Yeah, yeah, I guess what we were listening to is
probably the Arctic blast that's continuing to hit the mid
section of the country this week. That was probably just
a whole lot of wind we heard. We're not dealing
with that here, our kister meteorologist, Tom Sorel.
Speaker 3 (01:13:13):
I can't imagine it's not anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
It makes my bones hurt. Welcome back to the Jim
Colbert Show. Jim, We'll be back with us on Monday.
You've got deb you've.
Speaker 3 (01:13:21):
Got our executive producer, Jack Bradshaw, Good afternoon, and we
also have Tom Sorels joining us today. Tom, absolutely, thank
you so much. Once the crowd goes wild, they did,
like to.
Speaker 2 (01:13:35):
Still a meteorologist even if you're not on local television anyway.
Speaker 7 (01:13:39):
Still crazy after all these years after oh still has
a YouTube channel.
Speaker 5 (01:13:43):
Yes, sure, I'm still active on.
Speaker 6 (01:13:45):
People will say what I'm doing it like a Facebook live, like, oh,
we miss you so much? Like bro, I'm right here.
You're watching me live and you're telling me you missed me.
Speaker 5 (01:13:55):
Just watch me.
Speaker 8 (01:13:56):
Yeah yeah yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:13:57):
Where can they find you? Though?
Speaker 6 (01:13:58):
There you go on YouTube of course at talk to Tom Sorels,
or on Facebook at talk to Tom Dash Tom Sorels.
Speaker 8 (01:14:06):
You can find me Google me man, Yeah, talk to Tom,
talk to Tom. Talk to Tom.
Speaker 3 (01:14:10):
Is kind of you know.
Speaker 5 (01:14:11):
I was thinking, the last time I filled in has
been more than.
Speaker 6 (01:14:13):
A year, and it was like in September or August,
and I was battling Facebook at that time to change
my name, remember, because it had my old TV stations.
Speaker 8 (01:14:23):
Yeah, Tom Sorrels, Yeah, yeah, I think it was News six.
Speaker 6 (01:14:26):
Tom Sorrels and I'm like, if there's anybody out there,
look you get my name changed, let me know.
Speaker 5 (01:14:31):
And no one, no one ever did it.
Speaker 6 (01:14:32):
But I finally got it done last October, and so
now I own it.
Speaker 5 (01:14:36):
It's mine.
Speaker 3 (01:14:37):
Oh good.
Speaker 7 (01:14:39):
You always see that when it's when your name is
associated with the company you're currently working for, it's going
to make a divorce a little more.
Speaker 6 (01:14:48):
And they were gracious to me in every aspect of
my life, and that's cool, and said, sure, take your followers.
Speaker 8 (01:14:55):
I just don't attack this. I never would, you know,
it's hard to separate me from.
Speaker 3 (01:14:59):
That, but bad form if you do that.
Speaker 8 (01:15:03):
The people a wheel of fortune. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:15:07):
That was five year old talk.
Speaker 6 (01:15:10):
But getting Facebook's attention or anything is incredibly hard.
Speaker 7 (01:15:14):
Yes, well anything any thing on social media area. You know,
it's you know the world of bots and now ai
and you don't talk to humans exactly like a million
years ago.
Speaker 6 (01:15:26):
Back probably had to be almost a decade ago or
eight years ago. Right before one of the hurricanes, I
had a high school reunion and somewhere on my mom's
home computer, my tic, my TikTok, my Twitter handle got hijacked.
But within three days we had contacted Twitter, got a
hold of a person, had them look at it. Boom,
(01:15:47):
changed it right back, got me control of it again. Wow,
only to three days now.
Speaker 5 (01:15:52):
It's all so big.
Speaker 3 (01:15:53):
Exactly, just like Jack was saying, it's all algorithms. It's oh,
it's you can't reach it and less people and less
people exactly, so real quick before the break, if you
didn't have a chance to hear JCS news, one of
the stories we had done was that a Valencia College
graduate is proving you're never too old to learn something new.
Speaker 4 (01:16:10):
Right.
Speaker 3 (01:16:11):
Eighty two year old.
Speaker 2 (01:16:12):
Paul Grisell Reid is this year's oldest graduate, decided to
take a Spanish class, then he got his associate's degree,
and now he's working on his bachelor's degree in English
literature at UCF. So that got me to thinking, is
there anything in your life, Jack or yours Tom that
maybe there is a project or something that you just
(01:16:34):
maybe finishing education, something that you always regrets the regrets.
Speaker 7 (01:16:38):
Yeah, one that wouldn't really change the course of my
life to my knowledge, because I can always say I
mentioned earlier, I took a decade off before going back
to school, right, you know, do I wish I would
have gone to school sooner.
Speaker 8 (01:16:51):
Yeah, but I wasn't ready for it.
Speaker 7 (01:16:52):
So I probably needed to live a little life to
kind of, you know, mature up a little bit. But
the one thing that I do regret is the amount
of times I quit piano lessons or I took trumpet,
and I don't know if we had a drum set,
I didn't take drum lessons that you're right, you know what.
(01:17:16):
My mom ran a dancing school. Get out of here,
she did, and I quit dance and I got away
with it because my mom was a single mom from
seventy five. I was eight, I was seven, My little
sister was five, and then we had, you know, five
older kids, but seven kids for seven kids, single mom,
(01:17:39):
full time working, running a dancing school, and I was
the only boy, so a lot of you know, it
was a lot of first for her. And so when
I wanted to quit, she said, okay, you know, and
I wish you know, I teasingly used to blame her
for allowing me to quit. Since she passed, I'm kind of,
you know, rolling back a little bit and absorbing a
(01:18:01):
little of the responsibility for that.
Speaker 3 (01:18:03):
But a lot of it jacks come about all of
it bro piano lessons several times.
Speaker 8 (01:18:08):
I loved it.
Speaker 3 (01:18:09):
We I still have the piano I grew up with
in my house. It's in my house, which can't play it.
Speaker 8 (01:18:14):
I can't play it.
Speaker 11 (01:18:16):
You should.
Speaker 2 (01:18:16):
I was going to say, have you ever considered digging
piano lessons again?
Speaker 8 (01:18:19):
That's what I'm going to do over the break.
Speaker 3 (01:18:21):
Is it really? I just came up with it.
Speaker 5 (01:18:23):
Right now, you can learn on.
Speaker 3 (01:18:25):
YouTube because we're going to check with you after the break.
Speaker 8 (01:18:27):
I'm just gonna you know, yeah, what.
Speaker 2 (01:18:30):
About you, Tom? Is there anything that maybe you started
and stopped? Now we know you were going to be
the pat say Jack.
Speaker 6 (01:18:36):
Yeah, a thing when that call to be the game
show host? They still have game shows, not really, they're
all hosted by big time comedians.
Speaker 5 (01:18:46):
But I I wish I knew more foreign language.
Speaker 3 (01:18:49):
Yeah, I think you know. I was a trash Spanish
class kid.
Speaker 6 (01:18:53):
I slacked off. I don't really speak any Spanish. It's
so embarrassing.
Speaker 3 (01:18:58):
And uh.
Speaker 6 (01:18:59):
In the last year I've started taking Japanese lessons. Oh,
I wish I'd started that much sooner. It's a very
difficult language.
Speaker 3 (01:19:06):
I would imagine I'm trying really hard. Well, kudos to
you though.
Speaker 5 (01:19:11):
Which says how much is this one?
Speaker 11 (01:19:14):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (01:19:14):
Really?
Speaker 6 (01:19:16):
Now?
Speaker 2 (01:19:18):
Exactly like colt ten and Japanese, are you using any apps?
Speaker 5 (01:19:21):
Or I do use the app?
Speaker 6 (01:19:23):
And I have a fine instructor online. It was my
Christmas gift last year from my family.
Speaker 3 (01:19:27):
That is such a cool life.
Speaker 6 (01:19:28):
Saw two months, I think eight of them, and once
I got to go in, I just kept going.
Speaker 5 (01:19:32):
I pay for it myself.
Speaker 6 (01:19:34):
The last two months I stopped because I was out
of town forever, which we'll talk about later.
Speaker 7 (01:19:38):
I think, yeah, but I can totally relate to the
you got through Spanish. I got through Spanish in middle school,
high school, college, and then I even did a Berlitz
course here where it's like in the moment, I know it,
but then okay, then you move on and I don't
inject myself into the culture. I don't use it, and
then you just forget it and you pick up a
(01:19:59):
phrase here in there, and I am jealous when I see,
you know, other people be able to switch from English
to Spanish and talk to it.
Speaker 8 (01:20:07):
It's incredible.
Speaker 7 (01:20:07):
Yeah, we have a cleaning crew here and wonderful, lovely.
Speaker 3 (01:20:11):
People and Joanna.
Speaker 7 (01:20:12):
Yeah, but it's you know, my level of communication with
them is a lot more, uh is a loted is
a lot. It's more difficult than in I see other
people's being able. You for one, Dad, Well, you know
it's interesting.
Speaker 5 (01:20:25):
So can you speak Spanish?
Speaker 3 (01:20:27):
Well, my mother's from Colombia. Okay, Columbia, so Medico. I
think Jerry's when I say Colombia, Colombia, Colombia. There is
no U in Colombia. Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:20:36):
So in high school I used to actually compete in
like Spanish poetry competition.
Speaker 5 (01:20:41):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:20:42):
It got so bad that when my mom and my
grandmother weren't able to gossip about the family because I
would be, you know, not too far away, going no
what happened?
Speaker 3 (01:20:52):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:20:52):
So then because my mom was born on an island
in the Caribbean, they would switch to patois Ah because
you have to be born into that language.
Speaker 3 (01:21:00):
But I speak it. I wish I spoke it better.
Speaker 2 (01:21:04):
I also learned Portuguese because my ex husband was born
in Brazil. He's half English half Brazilian.
Speaker 3 (01:21:10):
So I can speak Portuguese, but I don't speak My
Portuguese isn't as good as my Spanish, and my Spanish
is not very good. I think out of the three
people in the room, You're the winner. But for me,
it would be finishing my college degree.
Speaker 5 (01:21:25):
Oh you didn't finish.
Speaker 3 (01:21:26):
I did not. I went for the first two years
and then had a heartbreaking experience at the end of
my second year.
Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
I was a graphic design student and decided that's it.
This obviously isn't where I meant to be. And our
family had just taken a recent trip to Florida for
the first time and fell in love. We knew we
were going to be moving here eventually, so I decided
to leave school and potentially finish my degree here in
central Florida, not knowing how expensive Rollins College is.
Speaker 5 (01:21:53):
Oh yeah, there's cheaper options.
Speaker 3 (01:21:56):
Yeah there are, there are online. But you know, the
the thing is is that now I would I would
get my degree just to say I finished it, like
the eighty two year old gentleman, just like the eighties
year old gentleman like.
Speaker 7 (01:22:09):
I was when I was talking to that paper and
he said, Hey, you're going to be thirty five one day,
and you too, deb will be thirty five one day.
Speaker 8 (01:22:16):
I love you, Jack, Whether you have a degree or not,
he's going.
Speaker 3 (01:22:19):
To be up to you.
Speaker 2 (01:22:19):
And the beautiful thing is that now, Because I've already
got three decades into this career, I wouldn't necessarily follow
a degree that would maybe support this.
Speaker 6 (01:22:28):
Right, you don't need a communication, no non art degree.
Speaker 3 (01:22:32):
I like her something I love.
Speaker 2 (01:22:33):
My mom always said, if I could be anything in
this life, she said, Deborah would be a professional student,
because I just love I love to learn.
Speaker 3 (01:22:40):
So is that your goal for twenty twenty six you're
going back?
Speaker 2 (01:22:44):
No, because my goal for twenty twenty six is figuring
out how to afford a wedding. Yeah, I'm gonna be
getting married in April.
Speaker 5 (01:22:52):
So why did I say Elope?
Speaker 8 (01:22:54):
Yea, bravo?
Speaker 3 (01:22:56):
Might I say you don't want me to do that
because then you won't be at the wedding.
Speaker 7 (01:23:00):
You're right, I would not miss this for the world.
But also I want you to you know, just whether
it's college or whether it's a big event, if you
can come out of it without regret and without debt, bravo.
Speaker 3 (01:23:12):
Absolutely. And you know what happens when.
Speaker 5 (01:23:15):
There's a wedding.
Speaker 6 (01:23:15):
And I say this to kids who are getting married
all the time, including my own child. They're talking about details,
who does this, who does that? And I said, listen,
here's the truth. When this is over, you're married. Oh yeah,
it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if there's a band.
Speaker 3 (01:23:28):
I can't wait or because.
Speaker 6 (01:23:29):
When you're over, when this is over, you're married. Yes,
whether you're elpe or you have a big bash, you're married.
Speaker 3 (01:23:35):
And that's why it's important.
Speaker 2 (01:23:37):
I have an appointment with my florist on Monday and
asking for the vibe. It's like, I just want it
to be welcoming and relaxed. I want it to be
a fun day of celebrating with our family and friends.
We're really kind of doing the micro wedding trend. We
have I think fifty four wedding guests on the list
right now, so that means everyone in the room are
going to be people that we know, that we can
(01:23:57):
converse with.
Speaker 3 (01:23:58):
That you don't want to meet anyone new, exactly exactly.
If that can be avoided, that.
Speaker 17 (01:24:05):
Is great.
Speaker 2 (01:24:06):
Not only that, I don't want to feed your right,
I don't want to feed you in pay for your drink,
especially if you don't come to the ceremony.
Speaker 3 (01:24:12):
Do not plan on being at the reception, correct, because
that's just the rules. Well, listen, speaking of something big, Yes,
thanks to one mister Jack Bradshaw. We have a.
Speaker 2 (01:24:23):
Very cool interview coming up next. Jack, tell the people
who it is again.
Speaker 8 (01:24:27):
Michael Andrew.
Speaker 3 (01:24:28):
Yes, And if you don't have this Christmas album, you
need to get it. But we're gonna do that next,
so keep it here.
Speaker 2 (01:24:33):
On The Jim Colbert Show on Real Radio one of
four point one. Welcome back to the Jim Colbert Show
on Real Radio one oh four point one.
Speaker 3 (01:24:47):
No worries, No worries, Jim. We'll be back with us
on Monday. In his stead.
Speaker 2 (01:24:51):
You've got deb Jack and our special guest co host
today one, Tom Sorels.
Speaker 5 (01:24:55):
Hey, I'm so glad to be here.
Speaker 3 (01:24:57):
Jim should take off more oft.
Speaker 2 (01:24:59):
We agree, Hey, what a great idea and listen. I
don't know if you had a chance, but the Jim
Colbert Show. We're special guest co host last night on
Orlando's Christmas station Magic one oh seven seven, where we
got to play some of our favorite Christmas songs and Jack,
you reminded everyone of one of the best Christmas albums
that's out there.
Speaker 7 (01:25:19):
I say it every year and I have since the
first year I got it.
Speaker 8 (01:25:22):
It's a Swingerhead Christmas.
Speaker 7 (01:25:24):
Michael Andrew presents a swingerhead Christmas and I played a
song I love and we used to play in the
Philip Foul every year called Missotoe Mambo. And I mean
I played it. We played it last night on Magic.
But here's a little sample of it for you as well.
(01:25:48):
Feels so Christmas.
Speaker 3 (01:25:49):
He already it does Mambo mambo.
Speaker 8 (01:25:59):
It's just got such a fun feel to it.
Speaker 2 (01:26:02):
Fun funky vibe and for all those people into that
kind of like mid century vibe, right, it's just here
he comes.
Speaker 10 (01:26:07):
Come along with me next to the Christmas tree.
Speaker 7 (01:26:14):
This is the guy I wanted to be when I
would hear him singing, because I grew up a Sinatra fan,
I was like, oh, it's the coolest kind of singing
for me.
Speaker 3 (01:26:23):
It would not a doubt.
Speaker 7 (01:26:24):
And I have a feeling he kind of grew up
the same day looking at Frank Sinatra.
Speaker 8 (01:26:27):
But we are lucky enough to have Michael Andrew in studio.
Speaker 10 (01:26:30):
I am so I'm so flattered, Jack, I'm really flattered
that you that you have been talking about me on
the radio. My gosh, what an honor. Yeah, and this
is really sweet of you to play that.
Speaker 7 (01:26:44):
And from when I started on the Phillips follow. I
know Jim Phillips already with familiar with you and would
sing your praises.
Speaker 10 (01:26:51):
You introduced the band. I got that one of our
debut performances.
Speaker 7 (01:26:55):
In three at the Mental Plaza, wearing Jim Phillips tuxedo.
Speaker 3 (01:27:00):
Wow, because you.
Speaker 8 (01:27:02):
Know it fit and I didn't have one.
Speaker 3 (01:27:05):
I'm not going to buy one.
Speaker 7 (01:27:06):
But not only introducing that night, that's also nine months later,
my wife and I welcomed our youngest daughter into the world,
who's now twenty one.
Speaker 3 (01:27:16):
And look what you did that night I was wearing
It was the toughs in the music, and you helped
create a mirror. I don't know that yet, that is.
Speaker 7 (01:27:28):
But what I remember about singing, seeing Michael Andrew and
Swinger at that night at the Metro Posita is I've
listened to big band all my life because my stepdad
would play you know, cledon Miller.
Speaker 3 (01:27:41):
Oh yeah, great, all the time.
Speaker 7 (01:27:43):
But when you are in the room in front of
a horn section and a big band like that, the
energy you cannot escape the energy.
Speaker 3 (01:27:52):
It's just it's so palatable.
Speaker 10 (01:27:55):
It really can't be captured electronically, can't you know? It's you.
We got to be there live to experience a large
ensemble like a symphonic orchestra.
Speaker 4 (01:28:05):
Or a big band.
Speaker 10 (01:28:05):
Especially a big band is so dynamic, you know, with
the horns blaring. Yet you you got five saxes for
trombones for trumpets.
Speaker 2 (01:28:14):
Sound absolutely and I hope they don't ever find a
way to electronically.
Speaker 3 (01:28:19):
They make that.
Speaker 10 (01:28:20):
Yeah, they can't. Well, I guess you could set like
one speaker for each of the horns and have that
outputting For me, that would be ridiculous. Now it's still
not going to be better. It's still not going to
be as good exactly having the real players there.
Speaker 8 (01:28:34):
So we talk about the Christmas album. I would like
to you.
Speaker 7 (01:28:38):
I remember we talked way back on the Phillips style.
We talked to you about the Christmas album. But when
you plan a Christmas album, it's you have to do it,
probably if you're in Florida when it's like ninety degrees out.
How did this come about?
Speaker 11 (01:28:54):
Oh?
Speaker 10 (01:28:55):
Well, I mean it was nineteen ninety seven or ninety eight,
and it was in the height of we were having
a resurgence of swing music at that time. So the average, yeah,
average age of my audience was twenty two you know,
really young people, a lot of energy. I was having
(01:29:16):
a blast, and we thought we already had one album
out and that was doing well, and I thought, we
got to follow this up. What can we do? I know,
we'll do a Christmas album with a lot of my
favorite Christmas songs and I'll write a few. And I
didn't have I only had one original tune that I
co wrote with a guy, Ted Kushin. We wrote a
song called Christmas Day my Favorite Day. And then I
(01:29:39):
created this original version of Twas the Night Before Christmas
that we did all the time on the live shows.
But I needed something else. And that's when, you know,
we were on tour. We're driving around and I said,
I gotta have something. I want to do something in
a Latin esque, you know, kind of a mambo thing.
And as a joke, I started singing, you know, missiletoe
(01:30:02):
mambo and thinking about what these these real typical chord
changes could be for the course of it, you know,
And it was really a gag. And the guys in
the band said, actually, that's that's pretty good. You should
do that.
Speaker 6 (01:30:14):
Do that.
Speaker 10 (01:30:15):
And so when I got home, I wrote it in
about ten minutes. Oh wow, and and uh, you know,
sometimes things come to you very fast. And then I
stayed with it, and you know, people seem to like it.
Speaker 2 (01:30:27):
It's well, you help Jack and Naomi, you know, I
start the family.
Speaker 7 (01:30:32):
But you know, we all appreciate and this album what
you brought in. It's a Swingerhead Christmas. Michael Andrew presents
a Swingerhead Christmas. Is this available on your website?
Speaker 10 (01:30:43):
You can go to Michael Andrew dot com and find
it and there's some of the tracks are you can
stream them if you look it up on the streaming
Was it Apple?
Speaker 8 (01:30:52):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:30:52):
Yeah, Spotify, Spotify, that's it.
Speaker 7 (01:30:54):
Angel on The Monsters today was mentioning that that some
are available, like the EPs.
Speaker 10 (01:30:59):
So Mambo definitely is twas the Night Before Christmas?
Speaker 8 (01:31:02):
Oh, it's so good.
Speaker 7 (01:31:03):
And I know because I've heard Angel also talk about,
you know, being one of his favorite Christmas CDs as well,
and it's just every year when you hear it's only
different on the originals.
Speaker 10 (01:31:16):
I gotta say, thanks to this station, you know, Jim
and the Monsters. When we released it in ninety eight
or ninety nine, I can't remember, it was the number
one Christmas CD in Central Florida, and I think it
was for the next several years ninety nine, two thousand,
two thousand and one, and we'd always come on the radio,
(01:31:38):
the whole band. We'd sometimes perform right, you know, in
the studio. So I'm very indebted to this station for
making it, you know, a very popular CD over the years.
Speaker 7 (01:31:50):
And the our real radio Christmas Carol that we did.
And we started doing it. It was a late nineties.
That was it at Rollins College the first time we
did it. And I remember you you opened that show
for us as well, right and then wasn't it was
it the hard rock or then it went to the
hard rock and I think, yeah, it ended up in
(01:32:11):
your hard rockow. Yeah, it was so much fun. But uh,
you know, and we still play that on Christmas Eve. Well,
we play you know, bits of that over the past
couple of years that we put it together. It'll play
on repeat on Christmas Eve from eight o'clock until midnight
or Christmas Carol and the vignette.
Speaker 8 (01:32:31):
But I usually I'll always slip and mistletoe Mambo and.
Speaker 3 (01:32:34):
There of course you have to well he also has
a little drummer boy on the singerhead Christmas so so
definitely want to check that out. And then, of course
last year.
Speaker 2 (01:32:42):
Jack, you got the opportunity to introduce Michael Andrew at
the New Year's Eve celebration of Mount Dora.
Speaker 7 (01:32:47):
That's right, and that's probably the last time I saw
you and but New Year's Eve and Jim Culbertow is
going to be up there at Mount Door again this New.
Speaker 3 (01:32:55):
Year's Yes, we are.
Speaker 2 (01:32:56):
We hope you're going to join us. So, speaking of that,
are you ready for the holidays?
Speaker 3 (01:32:59):
Michael?
Speaker 7 (01:33:00):
I am.
Speaker 10 (01:33:01):
I haven't been doing as many Christmas performances this year
because I got really tied up with studio work and
I have a lot of original music right now, original
orchestrations playing around town. They're doing a Charlie Brown Christmas
at Orlando Family Stage. I produced all the music for it,
(01:33:23):
so if you see it and you hear the music,
I produced that, and it's really fun. You know, it's
the Charlie Brown Christmas that you all remember and love,
and it's being done live, so that's a great show.
And then I produced all of the music for the
Christmas Carol or Christmas Carol at the Orlando Shakes, which
(01:33:45):
has been the same. Well, a little bit of a
revised version of what they've been doing for the past
couple of years. Every year it gets a little bit
updated and more fun and more fun. Yeah, so that's
another show that I created all the tracks for it,
and there's a live cellis playing my arrangement. So that's
(01:34:09):
a thrill.
Speaker 8 (01:34:10):
That's gotta be pretty cool.
Speaker 12 (01:34:11):
Now.
Speaker 7 (01:34:11):
I do remember it was more recently than a year.
I did see you this past year at what I
think is a room. When they built this room, they
had to have Michael Andrew in mind, because it just
seeing you in this room is just like it's like, yes,
this was meant to be.
Speaker 8 (01:34:26):
And that's Judson's live.
Speaker 10 (01:34:28):
I love it there. And that's right. You were in
the front row, right yeah. I mean, bro, wait, if
I moved my foot, it knocks their food over. That's
how close he was.
Speaker 7 (01:34:38):
I'm not lying three feet away. We're sitting three feet
in front of him. And guess what that was Glenn
Clasman's seat. Really Glenn Clasman couldn't go right, He took
out and he's like, hey, Jack, would you like to go?
I go, absolutely, you know, see Michael Andrew. So Naomi
and I went and we saw him. But I mean
we were like on the stage so.
Speaker 3 (01:34:57):
Much, so did did you feel like you needed a
restraining or.
Speaker 6 (01:35:01):
You know?
Speaker 7 (01:35:02):
Everything was there was good, you know, and you always
have to capture stuff for social But I'm sure Michael
might have been concerned with the angle.
Speaker 8 (01:35:08):
Because I am like.
Speaker 3 (01:35:15):
Backup jack.
Speaker 8 (01:35:15):
So do you have any it's judging Live.
Speaker 10 (01:35:20):
In March, yes, and people can go on to doctor
dot org and look for Judgin's. But I mean, there's
so many great acts that are performing there at Justin's Lives,
And it's true, it's my favorite venue now. I just
love it the intimacy of it, and it's really modeled
after a New York jazz club, so you feel like
(01:35:42):
you're in New York City at a great jazz club.
Speaker 3 (01:35:45):
Well, you did mention that you've been doing a lot
of studio work.
Speaker 2 (01:35:48):
Does that mean that there's another album on the horizon,
another Michael Andrew project we can look forward to.
Speaker 10 (01:35:54):
I wish I could say that that there was, but
actually I've been doing work for other people and I
don't have time for my own projects. I have a
lot of clients and so I just I've been keeping
really busy with you.
Speaker 3 (01:36:08):
What do I need to Call.
Speaker 8 (01:36:11):
You did the soundtrack what was the name of the
Lucy movie being.
Speaker 10 (01:36:15):
The Ricardo's Yeah, yeah, that was a few years ago.
Speaker 8 (01:36:18):
Yeah, toward the end of the you weren't charge all
the music on that ware, you know, not the score.
Speaker 10 (01:36:23):
But anything that Desi Arnez played and anything that wasn't
part of the score. Actually, there's probably more of my
music than there is score because it's so much going
on with Desi Arnez and the different Latin ensembles and
big band ensembles that were playing throughout the throughout the movie.
It's so funny see a band in the in the
(01:36:43):
movie that that's the music I produce.
Speaker 3 (01:36:45):
Every time I hear Missile to Mambo Desi Arnez, just
that that whole genre, that whole era, that's exactly what
I picture in my mind's eye.
Speaker 10 (01:36:53):
Well, when when we did Missile to Mambo, I often
would play this character named Rico s and he sort
of he idolizes Desionnez. He wants to be like Desiz,
but it's not quite as suave and debonair, you know,
he's but he tries and he tries to do tricks
(01:37:14):
and they're all awful, and he sings missiletoe Mambo and
all sorts of things. I have it on online right
now on my Facebook page. It's pretty funny some footage
from the show of Rico singing missiletoe Mambo. But when
I got the call, the music supervisor said, do you
could you do something in the style of desiarnez uh
(01:37:38):
you know bab Aloo? I said, are you kidding me?
It was just crazy that they asked me, because that
was the whole basis for that act. I had arrangement.
I've done arrangements of I Love the I Love Lucy
theme and almost everything. I mean, we redid them and
refined them for the movie because I wanted to do
them with the exact same instrumentation that DESI had. But
(01:38:03):
you know, I love that stuff. It's among my favorite
you know that stuff from the fifties and the sixties.
Speaker 3 (01:38:09):
Yeah, it's hot. It's hot with the millennial crowd.
Speaker 2 (01:38:12):
Now, Ross, who's part of the show, his wife Olivia,
is all about this kind of like mid century vibe.
So I think the you know, younger generations are going
to be kind of recapturing again what they did with
the swing music back in the late nineties.
Speaker 7 (01:38:26):
We have Michael Andrew in studio today. By the way,
produced one of the best Christmas albums ever. It's called
It's a Swingerhead Christmas. A Swingerhead Christmas available at Michael
andrew dot com. Michael Sinatra, obviously you're a fan. I
grew up a fan, and I had really two influences.
One it was my stepdad had albums, and you know,
(01:38:48):
I'd see the Sinatra stuff and that would play. I
remember they used to have Saturdays with Sinatra on the radio.
I worked at a at a pizzeria in New Jersey
and you can do any w Yeah, you could bet
that Saturdays with Sinatra was playing on the radio at
the pizzeria. And you know, it's funny because I was like,
(01:39:08):
at first, you know, it's like, okay, it's on again,
and then it just you know, I caught. The appeal
caught me and I you know, ever since, I just
he's been one of the top dogs. How did you
get exposed to the type of music that you went
on to, you know, make a career.
Speaker 10 (01:39:25):
Out of well, I, you know, just like a lot
of people my age, our age, my parents were listening
to it and they had all those albums you know,
and when my dad would be in the car, he'd
put an a track in and that would be playing.
Speaker 3 (01:39:43):
And I just really loved it.
Speaker 10 (01:39:44):
And I never really embraced the music of my generation
as much so, and I wasn't embarrassed about it. I
really preferred to listen to that music all my young life,
you know, when I was in grade school, in junior
high school.
Speaker 3 (01:40:01):
I'll see, you're an old soul.
Speaker 10 (01:40:03):
I guess when it comes to the music I am.
I always loved it and kind of fantasize about performing it,
you know, would do these little skits as a kid
where I'm lip syncing to these types of things. I
especially loved the Four Freshmen and any of that stuff,
especially from a little later in the big band years,
(01:40:23):
not quite the early forties or even the mid forties,
more like the fifties and sixties. I loved that era,
and so I was always emulating it. And then when
it came time to, you know, be an adult, what
am I going.
Speaker 3 (01:40:36):
To do when I grow up?
Speaker 10 (01:40:38):
When I grow up, I had this opportunity. I said,
I got to know this piano player, and I said,
you know, I've always wanted to sing on a stage
and do these songs, and you know, we did it.
And at first, I think people thought it was a
novelty act because I looked so young. I've always looked
younger than I am, and so they they said, look
(01:41:00):
at this kid, and he's doing these sophisticated, you know,
Frank sinoptrotypes songs. And this would have been the you know,
the eighties, and there was no kind of resurgence at
all at that time, so it was very unusual, kind
of I don't know, maybe freakish. I didn't care. I
just loved it. That's what I wanted to do, so
(01:41:22):
I stayed with it, and it just eventually caught on
more and more. In fact, one of my first gigs
was working on the Carnival cruise lines, and I remember
the guy that booked me said, I like the music
you do because nobody hates it. Almost every other genre
(01:41:43):
that we could do, somebody's gonna say, oh I hate that,
but this one you could get kids. They don't hate it.
They might not love it, but everybody's sort of okay, yeah,
that's fine.
Speaker 8 (01:41:55):
Hey, you're safe, you're high safe.
Speaker 10 (01:41:56):
Exact That's how I got the first gig.
Speaker 2 (01:41:59):
I would go so to say, you're probably the one
that kicked off the resurgence of swing in the late nineties,
because up until then, you know, probably not a lot
of exposure to that.
Speaker 3 (01:42:07):
Take care, I will, I will, Okay, I will.
Speaker 10 (01:42:11):
It was an interesting thing because you had all these
ska bands and punk bands I were doing it. I
was watching and I said, what they're doing stuff I've
been doing all my life. You know what's going on.
And so at the time I knew this girl, Stace
based remember State, and she was just like a great promoter.
(01:42:31):
And I said, I don't understand.
Speaker 3 (01:42:33):
You got to help me. Why am I not doing
this on a national level?
Speaker 11 (01:42:38):
This is all I do?
Speaker 10 (01:42:39):
And at that point I had played the Rainbow Room
in New York City, Oh wow, and I had, you know,
done this style. All of a sudden, it's in the
mainstream and I'm sitting here, you know, working for Peen
Universal Studios playing characters. I was doing characters at Universal
Studios and doing the band as a sideline, which was
(01:43:01):
my real passion. So Stace, she got on the phone
and all of a sudden she got me booked in
these clubs throughout California and we were in California, and
the people would come up and say, Wow, you're really authentic.
These other bands are sort of imitating this, right, but
you're very authentic.
Speaker 8 (01:43:21):
We grew up in it.
Speaker 10 (01:43:22):
This is all I've ever done. I bet I never
wanted to be a punk band or a ska band
or anything. This is it. It's the only thing I
listened to.
Speaker 7 (01:43:31):
So Judgon's Judgen's Live in March, right, that's a Sinatra
set or what are you doing?
Speaker 10 (01:43:36):
Well, it's always the style of Frank Sinatra and Bobby
Darren and Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Junior. That's all
I do. So it's always in that genre. But I
can't tell you if it's going to be all Sinatra.
It's it's a big variety, like what you saw.
Speaker 7 (01:43:52):
Yeah, but you always change it up because I mean
I think you do it several times throughout the year usually, yeah.
So it's so for people will come back, they're always
getting something different.
Speaker 10 (01:44:02):
Yeah, And we're always focusing on some angle of that era,
and usually it is the late fifties early sixties. Sometimes
will focus on Academy Award winning songs, what songs won,
what songs didn't win, and isn't that unusual. So there's
always some kind of little antidotes that I throw in
(01:44:22):
there to tie things together.
Speaker 7 (01:44:24):
All right, So you can get that at a doctor
Phillips Center dot org if there's any seats left. If not,
if if Mark sells out, keep an eye out because
I don't know if it's once a month or about
you know, throughout the year, you'll have more states at
Jutson's Live and give.
Speaker 2 (01:44:39):
Us the address again for the CDs because someone just
texted us at seven seven zero three one and said

CD itself. Michael. We can't thank you enough for taking
some time us going to join us.

So you have lost your job. So this is much
better that you ended up the way.
Speaker 3 (01:49:33):
Who got the gig was Rof Banerska. He's never been
heard from again. I didn't even know that name.
Speaker 5 (01:49:40):
The kicker for the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (01:49:42):
Ended up getting my gig and then blew it all right,
so no, not at all. Who's going to be our
first contest? Okay?
Speaker 7 (01:49:55):
Yeah, so Dad one through five, let's go to number
two and that welcome Kim. Oh, Kim is on the phone.
Oh okay, am I supposed to read this now? Yeah,
so you got to read the top part. Explain the
game to Kim. Here, pick the porn, Kim.
Speaker 5 (01:50:11):

Speaker 8 (01:50:26):
You're trying to pick the fake fake one?
Speaker 5 (01:50:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:50:30):
Okay, so three of these are legit titles.
Speaker 8 (01:50:33):
One is it not? Kim? Your mission find the fake?
Speaker 3 (01:50:36):

Speaker 6 (01:50:40):
We're gonna start with number one is Punished by the Plumber.
Number two, Smoking Tailpipes. Oh, number three, the Biggest Oozer, Oh, number.
Speaker 3 (01:51:00):
Four the knob Mob. Which one of those four.
Speaker 8 (01:51:06):

Speaker 3 (01:51:10):
I'm gonna say number one? Oh sorry, sorry, that's actually
a legit title.
Speaker 8 (01:51:17):

up next? Jack? You tell me one, three, four or five?
Let's go three?
Speaker 8 (01:51:54):

Speaker 9 (01:51:55):

Speaker 8 (01:51:55):
And that welcomes Javier.
Speaker 11 (01:51:58):

Speaker 10 (01:52:02):
Hanging there?
Speaker 3 (01:52:02):
Oh, don't say that. Don't say that on this time. Okay,
so brother man, remaining titles.
Speaker 8 (01:52:08):
Here we go.
Speaker 3 (01:52:09):
We have three titles for you to choose from.
Speaker 6 (01:52:11):
One of them is fraudulary, starting with this one smoking Tailpipes.
The next one is The Biggest Oozer, still gross, and
the next one is the knob Mob, which one of
those three titles is fake.
Speaker 3 (01:52:30):
All right, the Biggest, the Biggest Ouzer. You say, yes, sorry, Xavier,
move like a cow. That's a very sad cow.
Speaker 2 (01:52:47):
Than You're still hanging in there with us.
Speaker 3 (01:52:51):
Tom, I think I think I'm glad I don't have
a TV career.
Speaker 8 (01:52:59):
That's my favorite rendition of.
Speaker 3 (01:53:01):
This, without a doubt, without a doubt. Let's go number one.
Number one it is, and we welcome Jeff to the show. Hey, Jeff,
how you doing. I'm doing great?
Speaker 2 (01:53:12):
All right, Well, you've got a fifty to fifty shot
of picking the wrong porn title read by our one
and only game show.
Speaker 3 (01:53:18):
I was Tom Soorrel.
Speaker 8 (01:53:19):
He was almost Pat Sajack story.
Speaker 3 (01:53:22):
Jeff.
Speaker 6 (01:53:22):
Hey, listen, man, here are your titles to choose from
the first one is smoking Tailpipes. The next one is
the Knob Mob, which one of those two titles is
a fake.
Speaker 3 (01:53:37):
The knob.
Speaker 8 (01:53:39):
You're saying the knob Mob.
Speaker 3 (01:53:40):
Yeah you did, you didn't, Jeff.
Speaker 2 (01:53:45):
Congratulations, you have ended Tom Sorel's absolute torture with pick
the porn.
Speaker 3 (01:53:50):
You have won the game, my friend.
Speaker 2 (01:53:52):
We're gonna put you on hold so you can go
visit the Jackie Sack, and then we're gonna take a
break so that Tom can go to the washroom, to
the restroom and wash his hands, face, wash your soul.
Speaker 3 (01:54:06):
Congratulations, Jeff. I won't even ask you to bark like
a dog for me, Tom, I would never. We want
you to go today there because Jack.
Speaker 5 (01:54:16):
That's all.
Speaker 3 (01:54:18):
Thank you, guys, Thank you Tom for being our stalwart
game show host Pat Sajack has nothing on you.
Speaker 5 (01:54:24):
I think he does.
Speaker 3 (01:54:27):
That's in the bank account exactly. Don't worry about that.
Speaker 2 (01:54:29):
All right, We're gonna take a quick break. We'll be
back with more. So keep it here on Real Radio
one of four point one.
Speaker 4 (01:54:39):
You're listening to the Jim Colbert Show.
Speaker 5 (01:54:48):
Hey, I got a question here.
Speaker 20 (01:54:50):
Why is it on the app? When you're listening on
the app, it blocks over puts ads over the traffic
and weather reports. I have to listen on on the
app on my phone in my work truck because the
work truck doesn't have radio. So driving all the way
back and forth Aytona, Orlando makes drives better, but would
definitely help if the traffic reports were on the app
(01:55:11):
as well.
Speaker 8 (01:55:13):
All right, I can answer that.
Speaker 3 (01:55:14):
Okay, good, Thank you Jack. I was going to look
to you anyway.
Speaker 5 (01:55:17):
Okay.
Speaker 7 (01:55:17):
So, if you're listening on what we call in terrestrial
radio over the air, it's one oh four point one
on the FM dial. That means you are in our market,
which can be anywhere from Saint Augustine down to you know,
Ebor City right and all points in between.
Speaker 8 (01:55:36):
And so that means you are in this area.
Speaker 7 (01:55:39):
If you're listening on the app, you could be anywhere
in the world, and they actually we that's our streaming product,
and they have different ads that run on our streaming product,
and so the ad the commercials you hear on the
radio are different than what you hear if you're listening
on the app or on a smart speaker or on
your computer. Yeah, but if you are local listening on
(01:56:03):
the app, and so you would benefit from the traffic report.
Speaker 8 (01:56:07):
I feel your pain. I understand. I wish there was
a way to get around that.
Speaker 7 (01:56:11):
But that is why they replace those commercials with different commercials,
because it's a different product.
Speaker 3 (01:56:16):
So, in other words, if you can listen to us
on terrestrial radio, you'll get those traffics.
Speaker 7 (01:56:20):
Yeah, buddy heat but in a situation there where he
doesn't have a radio, but fortunately the app is there,
he just doesn't get the things that happened in the break.
Speaker 2 (01:56:29):
Yeah, and you can always text us when you're safely
at a traffic light to seven seven zero three one
and we'll let you know what the traffic's done.
Speaker 3 (01:56:36):
De will tell you absolutely. Yeah, yeah, Deuble tell you. Hey,
welcome back to the Jim Colbert Show. Jim, we'll be
back with us on Monday, taking a day off. You've
got deb Jack our special guest co host today. Tom Sorels, Hey,
how are you so much?
Speaker 8 (01:56:48):
And Jack?
Speaker 3 (01:56:48):
Yes, he got a message from the missus listen this.
Speaker 5 (01:56:53):
Jack.
Speaker 6 (01:56:53):
I wrote her and said, hey, hey, how's everything going.
My last knee segment where I can talk is coming up.
Everything else is playing, so tune in. And she's like,
I've been listening.
Speaker 5 (01:57:03):
You were great with the porn.
Speaker 3 (01:57:06):
Yay, Tom is gonna have a good no'm you didn't say,
don't come home in the living room with the dog
in the dog's house. We're done with you, not at all.
We can't wait to have you back again. Tom.
Speaker 5 (01:57:23):
But yeah, Jim needs to take more time off.
Speaker 3 (01:57:25):
I agree. I agree.
Speaker 8 (01:57:27):
Jim will hear this. I'll go don't ever invite so.
Speaker 3 (01:57:31):
Not at all.
Speaker 2 (01:57:33):
But you know, since you have retired, as it were,
kind of incentivized away another way of saying it from
local TV, You've been doing a whole lot of traveling.
Speaker 3 (01:57:43):
You know, I did, I have.
Speaker 5 (01:57:44):
It's been crazy.
Speaker 6 (01:57:45):
There are things I wanted to do, and I'm blessed
that my wife has a great job where they have
conferences in cool places and now I get to tag.
Speaker 3 (01:57:54):
Along and be like a plus one ohne.
Speaker 6 (01:57:56):
Last November I told Jack this earlier. I got to
see the Grand Canyon. Cool her conference in Phoenix, and
so I went out.
Speaker 3 (01:58:03):
There and still a bucket list item for me.
Speaker 8 (01:58:07):
You have to go same. Okay, so you were in Phoenix.
Speaker 3 (01:58:11):
Uh huh?
Speaker 8 (01:58:11):
What's the travel distance between that and the Grand Canyon.
Speaker 6 (01:58:13):
It took me about two and a half, maybe three hours.
I think I could be recalling that wrong. Yeah, but
it's straight north out of there. I think we went straight.
I got to rent a car and drove up there
and spent a night or two there. I think maybe
just one night there because I've seen it. I've seen it,
and then over to Sedona.
Speaker 7 (01:58:28):
Oh NOONA loved it and so I loved all that.
Speaker 5 (01:58:33):
And then uh, that was November. And in November you
know that's TV ratings want.
Speaker 3 (01:58:37):
Yeah, I could never have done that if I was
still worky all, you could not have gone.
Speaker 6 (01:58:41):
I still would not have seen the Grand Canyon. Then
we did Christmas at home. It was January February March.
She had a conference in Berlin, Germany. Cool a place
I never would have thought to go to.
Speaker 3 (01:58:54):
It is lovely. And I'm telling you I could live
there if I spoke German. Yeah, that was your next
language learn.
Speaker 5 (01:59:00):
I don't think so.
Speaker 8 (01:59:01):
Now Japan it's pretty tough too.
Speaker 5 (01:59:05):
Did did Berlin? Did Vienna?
Speaker 3 (01:59:07):
Oh that's another that it's a bucket list city for me?
Speaker 5 (01:59:09):
I think for me personally, Vienna was better looking than Paris.
Speaker 3 (01:59:13):
And then that's saying a lot.
Speaker 5 (01:59:15):
And then onto Budapest.
Speaker 8 (01:59:16):
Yeah, And so we did Budapest and I just loved it,
loved it so much. And this for nothing, but your
wife is killing it, yeah, killing out.
Speaker 3 (01:59:25):
These are the place that she has.
Speaker 8 (01:59:26):
To go for work.
Speaker 6 (01:59:27):
Well, the place she had to go for it was Munich,
and we tacked on Vienna Budapest, Yeah, because you're over there.
Speaker 3 (01:59:32):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (01:59:33):
Then I came back to see I woke up in
Budapest that Tuesday, came back and then I flew to
South Carolina, which doesn't thrill people.
Speaker 3 (01:59:40):
I was doing.
Speaker 5 (01:59:41):
And then summer was kind of calmer, I think. And
then where do we go?
Speaker 6 (01:59:44):
It seems like in August I moved my daughter to London.
Thing three is going to grad school in London at
the London School Economics, and so we dropped her off
there and then we got back. We had a week
at home, but since the house was empty, suddenly that empty.
This thing was back right, and we had planned to
go to New York City for two months.
Speaker 11 (02:00:06):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (02:00:06):
So September and October I lived in New York City
for two months, wow and had the best time.
Speaker 7 (02:00:13):
Where did you live Upper West Side? You're in New Yorker, right, Yeah?
I grew up in New Jersey. My sister lives on
the Upper east Side, so but I am familiar. I
was on the I was on twenty sixth West, ninetieth Okay.
Speaker 8 (02:00:25):
We loved it.
Speaker 5 (02:00:26):
Got an Airbnb of course, Mitra found that. My wife
found that.
Speaker 3 (02:00:29):
Of course she did, well, yeah, just go with it,
top and so I loved it.
Speaker 5 (02:00:34):
It was great. We were like less than half a
block from Central Park.
Speaker 3 (02:00:38):
That's a nice area, and she's on the other side
of Central Park.
Speaker 5 (02:00:40):
I loved it so much.
Speaker 3 (02:00:42):
I walked my dog in there three times a day,
two or three times a day.
Speaker 5 (02:00:45):
Loved it.
Speaker 6 (02:00:46):
I got to volunteer for the Have you ever heard
of the New York Film Festival? Yes, yeah, okay, so okay.
I volunteered for them because I had to have something
to do and.
Speaker 3 (02:00:56):
Top being a kept man, just awful.
Speaker 6 (02:00:59):
So volunte here to the film festival, and they hired
me on as a talent liaison, which meant, you know,
like the talent who were there for the show. I
worked the red carpets and got the talent backstage, got
water for people the A list celebrities were not supposed
to talk to them unless they talk to you, but
don't ask for autographs or whatever.
Speaker 3 (02:01:20):
You be cool, be like you would treat them here
at the radio station. Hey, how you doing, Yeah, exactly,
help put your headphones on.
Speaker 6 (02:01:27):
So I'd like I'd worked the red carpet for a
thing called, uh a House of Dynamite.
Speaker 3 (02:01:32):
Oh yeah, new show on Netflix.
Speaker 5 (02:01:34):
Yes, uh.
Speaker 6 (02:01:35):
That night I had to take care of I spoke
to the director by mistake, and then I had to
take care of these.
Speaker 8 (02:01:43):
You didn't know the director.
Speaker 5 (02:01:44):
I'm director because this is miss Catherine Bigelows. She's there.
You're so sorry.
Speaker 6 (02:01:52):
She did, and so I had the casting director, which
is her pal, right behind her. I was escorting her,
she and her husband. And when I got backstage, you
got them on SA. I had to back up, and
everybody stopped, and the guy stopped right in front of
me was Idris Elba.
Speaker 3 (02:02:05):
Oh wow, And he turns and looks at me and
did you fall in love instantly? And when do you
say that?
Speaker 5 (02:02:10):
He is a Goodligan dude. And he looks at me
and he's British and I won't do the British accent.
Speaker 6 (02:02:14):
But he looked at me and goes, how you doing tonight?
And I went, I'm doing great, my man, how are you?
And he goes, oh, having a great time, great time,
And we are so excited you came. We're so happy
you're here. And he goes, I would not miss this.
This is my favorite part. I mean no, this is wonderful, wonderful,
and I'm like cool and they go mister Elbow now
and he goes see you man, And so it texts
me like, hey, I just talked to Elba.
Speaker 5 (02:02:37):
He asked about you.
Speaker 3 (02:02:39):
Because he didn't, No, baby, he didn't. He didn't. The
other movie I did was but I want to be
asked to the next trip.
Speaker 5 (02:02:47):
So he was. He was very cool to everyone, which
is always good.
Speaker 3 (02:02:50):
YEA. Also did George Clooney's movie what's it called?
Speaker 5 (02:02:53):
J Kelly?
Speaker 6 (02:02:53):
Yes, so he was the Coloney was there, his wife
was there, Billy Crudup was there, Adam sam Lure.
Speaker 3 (02:03:01):
And all kinds of stars were there for that.
Speaker 5 (02:03:03):
In the third one, was he.
Speaker 8 (02:03:04):
Wearing shorts and a like a bat.
Speaker 5 (02:03:06):
He actually dressed up.
Speaker 6 (02:03:07):
He he's playing this movie seriously because Colooney is after
him to be serious, because he's like, you know, the
comedy is good for you, but it's holding your career back.
Speaker 5 (02:03:15):
You are a serious actor. So he's very serious in
this movie. He was good. He was really good.
Speaker 8 (02:03:20):
We saw that in uncut Gems. He played it serious,
was really cool. Laura Dern what an.
Speaker 6 (02:03:26):
Angel's sweetie signs all the autographs everybody outside. I'm outside
trying to USh everybody, and she runs over signs autographs.
Speaker 3 (02:03:33):
Billy croud Up not so much so much. He wasn't
a bad guy, but he didn't sign autographs.
Speaker 5 (02:03:38):
He just shot right in here.
Speaker 6 (02:03:40):
You owned Billy, Billy. Billy's it right. In the third
movie I did the Red Carpet four was.
Speaker 3 (02:03:49):
Is this thing on?
Speaker 5 (02:03:50):
It's a it's a uh Bradley Cooper movie.
Speaker 3 (02:03:53):
Okay, oh wow, oh yeah yeah yeah. They said with
uh what's his nail? Arnette?
Speaker 8 (02:03:57):
Yeah, will Arnette is a comedian and Laura.
Speaker 5 (02:04:00):
Again, she was back again.
Speaker 6 (02:04:01):
The other thing I did was I sign up for
Central Casting because I always want to be like, you know,
drunk guy and bar I.
Speaker 8 (02:04:06):
Can you find the coolest hobbies?
Speaker 6 (02:04:07):
Bro?
Speaker 3 (02:04:08):
I know.
Speaker 6 (02:04:08):
So I didn't know nobody to get called or not,
but I did. I've got like a minute and a
half here. So I always told me I'll.
Speaker 5 (02:04:14):
Be an actor. I'll try to go to auditions, I'll
have fun.
Speaker 3 (02:04:16):
Well let me hold.
Speaker 6 (02:04:17):
They call and they're like, you're gonna be at the
Christmas party. Here's a martini sitting in the back, and
I can do this some of the back. It's a
show called Furious that comes out of the Hulu in
the spring. Second one I did was a thing called
The Hunting Group.
Speaker 5 (02:04:30):
Not that thing on Netflix with the Women or Rockie.
Speaker 6 (02:04:34):
But this is on NBC and it's the second season
coming up. And again I was speed dating in the
back with my martini. And the third one I did
was a Law and Order episode when I was at
a wedding night before practice, the rehearsal dinner, and I
had a martini at my table to toast and I
said to me, I think I'd be a typecast.
Speaker 3 (02:04:55):
I think they took this drunk guide of art, thing
to Heart, the Law and Overer episod.
Speaker 5 (02:05:00):
So it aired, and the only part of me that
got on was the back of my head.
Speaker 3 (02:05:03):
I was there for eight hours.
Speaker 5 (02:05:05):
I got one hundred and fifty bucks.
Speaker 7 (02:05:06):
Now, okay, I was going to ask it one hundred
and fifty bucks because back in the nineties I was
doing extra work here and it.
Speaker 8 (02:05:12):
Was I think it was like sixty bucks for the day.
Speaker 3 (02:05:15):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:05:15):
I also learned what a walk away lunch is. The
first two fed me, you know, they're like, I don't
like to eat it, but I ate a little. And
the third ones and you'll have a walk away lunch.
Speaker 5 (02:05:24):
I'm like, what is it good to lunch? Walk away? No, no,
you're in Manhattan.
Speaker 3 (02:05:28):
It's lunchtime. Go walk away, Go eat your lunch. Okay,
I learned. I bet you did it.
Speaker 8 (02:05:34):
That's funny. So I had lots of adventures.
Speaker 5 (02:05:35):
I love New York. We loved our two months there.
Speaker 3 (02:05:37):
Wow, So then back here? Do you plans to do
it again?
Speaker 6 (02:05:41):
Or no, we'll not go back to New York. I
don't think we may vacation for lengthy period of So
it was just something.
Speaker 3 (02:05:46):
We wanted to do.
Speaker 9 (02:05:47):
You know.
Speaker 8 (02:05:47):
Yeah, it was very cool.
Speaker 6 (02:05:48):
And two of our kids live there, ones in Brooklyn,
one's in Raawway, Jersey. So we saw them every week.
Speaker 3 (02:05:53):
Oh that's awesome.
Speaker 5 (02:05:54):
A couple of times a week dinner at least once.
It was awesome.
Speaker 2 (02:05:56):
That is well, man, your twenty twenty six is going
to have a hard time. I'm keeping up with your
twenty twenty five.
Speaker 6 (02:06:01):
It was busy highlights was at least I'm getting here
once a year. Yeah, Jim has to take more time
on I agree.
Speaker 11 (02:06:08):
We're going to work on that.
Speaker 3 (02:06:09):
Yeah, exactly exactly.
Speaker 2 (02:06:11):
But what we are going to do right now is
we're going to take a quick break and when we
come back, Jaden Grimes is going to join us awesome
and give us his eight bit updates. So we're going
to do that next Keep it here on the Jim
Culbert Show on Real Radio one O four point one.
Speaker 21 (02:06:35):
Hey, Dad, just want to correction. So watercress is an
invasive species in Florida. Water chestnut is the crunchy things
you get in Asian food. So the watercress is one
of those weird leafy, green, aquatic and emergent plants that'll
pretty much take over a.
Speaker 3 (02:06:53):
Lot of area.
Speaker 2 (02:06:56):
Well, thank you for the correction. CDC still says as
it's one of the it's the top.
Speaker 11 (02:07:03):
The top. What the.
Speaker 3 (02:07:08):
The healthiest, the healthiest vegetable in the world. The water
was watercress.
Speaker 2 (02:07:13):
Yeah, I don't believe it because of it's vitamins, minerals
and antioxidants and a low calorie package watercress, watercress. Either way,
Welcome back to the Jim Culbert Show on Real Radio
one oh.
Speaker 3 (02:07:27):
Four point one. Jim will be back with us on Monday.
He's just slacking off today.
Speaker 2 (02:07:31):
Every Friday at this time, whether Jim is here or not,
we invite the very very affable young man Jaden Grimes
with his eight bit up Day.
Speaker 8 (02:07:44):
You ready for it? I am, Let's do it.
Speaker 4 (02:07:47):
It's time on Real Radio. Get ready for your quick
hit on gaming news, reviews and the little chaos as
pop Pump tries gaming. What Jayden starts now.
Speaker 3 (02:08:01):
Put chans together for Jaden Grime. How you doing, Jaydon,
I'm doing great.
Speaker 4 (02:08:07):
I look over to my left.
Speaker 17 (02:08:08):
There's no pop pop this time, no pop pop.
Speaker 3 (02:08:10):
You got Tom Sorel. I could pass for pop pop.
I mean what I can pull off? Yeah?
Speaker 8 (02:08:15):
No, I got out of touch, I can be.
Speaker 17 (02:08:20):
Do you play video games?
Speaker 3 (02:08:22):
No? Not since I was eighteen, bro, So yeah, I'm
pop pop to you.
Speaker 17 (02:08:25):
All right, we're gonna learn a little bit. The Game
Awards happened last night, Jack, I'm sure you're a happy
man sitting over there.
Speaker 7 (02:08:33):
Yes, I am a happy man. I was not aware
that the Game Awards were on last night. So what
happened to.
Speaker 17 (02:08:38):
Expedition thirty three to one? Nine awards last night? And
Game of the Year?
Speaker 7 (02:08:43):
Okay, so this was a game that Ross predicted, he
told me. When he told me about this game, Ross
was like, hey, checked this game out. These developers left
this company to do their own thing. I downloaded it,
I started playing it. It's a beautiful game, and it
for me, it just got a little too hard and
(02:09:04):
I wasn't interested enough to try and learn to conquer it,
and then I kind of I gave up on it.
He kept playing and said it was one of the
greatest games I played it. I was like, eh, I
played better visually it was gorgeous, and Ross predicted He goes,
there's you know, this could be the game of the Year.
Speaker 8 (02:09:24):
So I guess they won the award.
Speaker 17 (02:09:26):
Yeah, they won pretty much almost every award they were
selected for nine of thirteen.
Speaker 7 (02:09:31):
Wow, you got to feel good if you and seven
of your coworkers say hey, we're leaving because we think
we can do this better, and.
Speaker 3 (02:09:38):
Then you prove that you can.
Speaker 5 (02:09:39):
To the rocket.
Speaker 17 (02:09:40):
Yeah, now my favorite game. For the last month and
a half, I've been addicted. It's been my whole life.
Arc Raiders have won Best Multiplayer Game of the Year,
which in a two month span, you're already winning awards.
I think you're doing pretty solid for your video game.
Speaker 7 (02:09:55):
Not bad if it's out that long. So how would
you describe that came? Someone has no idea what arc
Raad is.
Speaker 17 (02:10:00):
Arc Raaders is this survival game. You're just looting around,
You're killing people. There's these giant drones and when I
tell you, it's like a movie. They're flying at you.
I'm yelling for my buddy to come save my life.
I'm I'm over here fighting. I got Megatron on me,
just dropping explosives. There's these giant things that they're called
the Queens and everything. When I tell you, they're like
(02:10:22):
crawling up buildings like spiders. It's the tar It's terrifying.
I got scared of drones and AI even more than
I was.
Speaker 3 (02:10:30):
I'm that saying something.
Speaker 6 (02:10:31):
I know.
Speaker 17 (02:10:32):
That's all I dream about.
Speaker 10 (02:10:33):
It's my life.
Speaker 4 (02:10:33):
It's consumed me.
Speaker 17 (02:10:39):
Coming with the Game Awards, there is a lot of
new game reveals, a lot of trailers. That's what this
Game Awards really is, more than the actual award show.
The Sons of the Forest three, I'm really excited looking
forward to this. This is the third one, but it's
jumping crazy. So it was like a modern day survival game.
Both games, you were in a plane crash, you landed
on this like Cannibal Eyeland, and you just had to survive. Really,
(02:11:02):
but now I got a little theory. The new one
takes place in space. It's your like one hundred years
in the past, and I'm assuming your spaceship crashes on
the same island.
Speaker 3 (02:11:11):
And now these cannibals are like space space cannibals. Yeah,
it looks crazy.
Speaker 8 (02:11:16):
Audio games seem to be the same though.
Speaker 2 (02:11:18):
You know you got preparing yeah, preparing us for a
very dystopian future.
Speaker 3 (02:11:23):
Yeah, okay, I mean yeah, and cannibals.
Speaker 6 (02:11:26):
Give Tom for not understanding when you say you have
to survive you have what are you doing?
Speaker 5 (02:11:31):
Like your hand control. You're shooting these people you collecked.
Speaker 17 (02:11:33):
You are on an island, you're collecting food, you're collecting water,
you're breaking down trees, which hand control. Yeah, I'm on
my keyboard and mouse over here, just like this for
like hour, trying to get Yeah. Well, yeah, the rain
probably gets you a little sick and then you got
to find a cure. It's usually how some of these
games go. Yeah, some of them get like real deep
into the survival aspects.
Speaker 3 (02:11:54):
Some of them are for me.
Speaker 17 (02:11:56):
Some of them get a little to it, a little tedious.
The rain hits me and I'm sick. Are you kidding me?
I'm not going to play that.
Speaker 7 (02:12:04):
That's too much Like come on, I don't pay attention
to rain in real life. You think I'm going to
exact to it in the virtual world.
Speaker 17 (02:12:13):
That's what I I live in Florida. Rain is going
to happen. I'm not gonna get sick. A couple weeks ago,
I told you guys about the Star Wars game that
got canceled, and I was really looking forward to it.
It was the main reason I bought a PlayStation five
to begin with. And nothing happens. I should sue them.
You're right, Well, they kind of refurbished the game. Instead
(02:12:36):
of remaking an old game, they're making it into a sequel.
They're using what they had in the engine, they've already built,
and they're just going to turn it into a sequel,
a whole brand new game.
Speaker 3 (02:12:45):
And it looks beautiful. Now we haven't got any gameplay.
It's all cinematic, but it looks like it's real life.
Speaker 8 (02:12:51):
So that's good news.
Speaker 17 (02:12:52):
Yeah, it's great news.
Speaker 3 (02:12:53):
Cancel the lawsuit, yeah, cancel the lawsuit.
Speaker 17 (02:12:56):
We can cancel the lawsuits.
Speaker 7 (02:12:57):
But so you said you bought a PS five, So
is it exclusive to PlayStation now?
Speaker 3 (02:13:02):
No?
Speaker 17 (02:13:03):
Not, Originally it was. Now it seems like it's coming
out to all consoles. Okay, yeah, a PlayStation exclusive did
get shown last night. Last week, I told you about
the Left four Dead remake. You know how the original
creators of Left for Dead are coming to this new
company to make like a whole new Left were Dead. Well,
the trailer was shown last night and the game looks
(02:13:24):
like it sucks.
Speaker 4 (02:13:25):
The game the game was gone awful.
Speaker 17 (02:13:28):
It looked like it was from twenty fourteen. The graphics
just don't look how game old?
Speaker 3 (02:13:33):
Yeah that old?
Speaker 17 (02:13:34):
I know, well, listen with graphics, that makes a huge difference. Yeah,
the ten years makes a drag.
Speaker 3 (02:13:38):
I mean even five years, I would imagine makes a
huge difference. Yeah, it really does. But the game just
looks old. It looks boring. It's it's a zombie alien
shooter game. It does look really good one another one.
It just looks really repetitive.
Speaker 17 (02:13:52):
If you're gonna do the same category of games, you
got to make it some type of level of interesting.
You got to add your little twist to it.
Speaker 4 (02:13:59):
And they are or not.
Speaker 7 (02:14:00):
While you're right dev about how ten years in the
world of gaming and electronics and development is like a
world of time. Yet Grand Theft Auto five ten years old. Yeah, yeah,
but that people are still playing it.
Speaker 17 (02:14:14):
Yeah, but it's also had five different updates to make
it better at the same time. Okay, so it update,
it gets better with each console that comes out. That's
that's how they make their money over at rock Star.
They just sell you the same game over and over.
Speaker 8 (02:14:28):
Yeah, and we're all waiting, we got a year until
the next one come.
Speaker 17 (02:14:31):
To Yeah, but GTA five has got an update, and
it's actually a really big update that you can buy
Mansions now you can.
Speaker 8 (02:14:37):
Uh, it's not really like Tom, you want to buy
a virtual you want.
Speaker 17 (02:14:41):
To buy a virtual mansion for eleven million virtual dollars.
Speaker 3 (02:14:44):
I think I'm good. You sure.
Speaker 9 (02:14:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 17 (02:14:46):
It probably takes like four days to get and you
probably can't do much with it afterwards, but you got it.
Speaker 7 (02:14:51):
You know, when you're done rubbing elbows with Hollywood big wigs,
you know you need maybe a little game time.
Speaker 8 (02:14:56):
When's the last time you played that video game?
Speaker 5 (02:14:58):
Nineteen eighty one?
Speaker 3 (02:15:00):
So I know, dude, I was King. I was King Phoenix.
Brother man, you're born Jade in two thousand and five,
said earlier.
Speaker 8 (02:15:08):
That's what you said earlier fourteen.
Speaker 3 (02:15:09):
I'm like, that's half his life ago.
Speaker 8 (02:15:12):
So this is legit arcade style, like like or right.
Speaker 6 (02:15:18):
I had to go pop a quarter in and blow
up the planet a sort And by the end of
the summer my name did you click them out and
put your name on top? I was Tom Tommy Sorels,
King Phoenix, And the day before I left for college,
some eight year old boy came there crushed it, and
I ripped my name off and.
Speaker 5 (02:15:32):
I went, I'm done. I'm done.
Speaker 6 (02:15:35):
I've never played again video so all this stuff you've done.
I mean, missus back mans as wild as I got.
Speaker 8 (02:15:41):
So all this stuff you're talking about, I'm like, this
kid knows what he's talking about.
Speaker 5 (02:15:45):
This kid language.
Speaker 17 (02:15:47):
Now, I've never talked about a Lego game on this show.
I've stopped myself. I'm gonna do it. They're quite popular,
the Lego Dude, They're amazing. I've been playing them since
I was a child, So I might have some little
special connection there.
Speaker 8 (02:16:00):
Asked why have you resisted the to talk about it.
Speaker 17 (02:16:03):
I don't know. I feel like it's not the demographic here.
Speaker 3 (02:16:06):
I feel like many people looked around the room.
Speaker 7 (02:16:09):
So if you think about that, I do play video games, right,
I don't play often, and I don't play to the
level that you play. But you know so, I mean
there is different games appeal to different people. So I
think if anyone's interested in video gaming, maybe the Lego
series is good for them. And it's not building legos,
it's characters. The environment and the virtual world is constructed
(02:16:33):
of Legos.
Speaker 16 (02:16:34):
Right.
Speaker 17 (02:16:34):
Yeah, So this Batman game, it's a Lego it's another
Lego Batman game, but it goes through every single phase
of Batman and from Adam West to Christian Bale to
Robert Pattison to Ben Affleck. Literally every single Batman is
in this game, and it takes over from the Arkhamas series.
I don't have you ever played the Arkham Batman games.
(02:16:55):
Now there's some of the best trilogy of all to well,
there's four of them, but the best game of all time.
I love them. They got me into superheroes, Batman and
stuff like that. Those games right there, they're phenomenal. They
take the combat system from that game, which is one
of the greatest combat systems I've ever played with. It's phenomenal.
It's a rhythm combat system. So you're just bouncing from everyone,
(02:17:15):
punching them in the head, just going left right.
Speaker 3 (02:17:18):
Jumping off the chest. It's wy on I four but
you wish you could.
Speaker 7 (02:17:22):
Exactly taking your word for it, hey man, you you
should get it. So so the new one is what's
it called.
Speaker 17 (02:17:30):
Uh Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Night. It releases
May twenty six all consoles, Steam, e Fic Game stores.
Speaker 8 (02:17:38):
How do you know it's so great?
Speaker 3 (02:17:39):
It doesn't come out for another half a year.
Speaker 17 (02:17:41):
I'm going off trailers. It looks phenomenal. Listen, this is
what we do in video games. We get super hyped
off trailers and then we get really disappointed and complain
on Twitter.
Speaker 19 (02:17:52):
Dating, right, it sounds like dating. Yeah, get super hyped
and you're like, oh yeah, it just sucks up. Yeah,
I want to go to Lego Batman.
Speaker 3 (02:18:02):
Yeah, and now I'm out twenty bucks more than that.
Speaker 17 (02:18:06):
If you've been on a date recently, oh my god,
don't get me started.
Speaker 4 (02:18:10):
It's bad.
Speaker 7 (02:18:11):
But you had it in New a couple of weeks
or Jim did. The average date is like one hundred
and forty dollars.
Speaker 17 (02:18:16):
Yeah, dude, Christmas making me broke over here. We haven't
even been dating for a year. That's a completely different topics.
Speaker 8 (02:18:23):
You have two jobs, you have three jobs.
Speaker 17 (02:18:26):
Yeah, but like dude, women are expensive.
Speaker 4 (02:18:29):
I'm learning this.
Speaker 8 (02:18:30):
Tell us about it.
Speaker 17 (02:18:31):
Yeah, you guys probably know better than me.
Speaker 3 (02:18:33):
I tell a wife and three daughters. What's over the same?
I can tell you, But it's better to watch and learn.
Speaker 17 (02:18:39):
Yeah, I'm learning this.
Speaker 3 (02:18:41):
I'm learning. Tell me about so the awards? You say,
did you watch them yesterday?
Speaker 17 (02:18:46):
I know, I woke up and just rewatched everything, just
like the breakdown of everything. I don't like watching these
awards shows, they're so drawn out.
Speaker 7 (02:18:53):
Well, I'm curious that like video game awards how I mean,
I don't expect that you watch the oscars of the
but what is the setup? Like, is it a bunch
of people that they just announced and people come up
and give a thank.
Speaker 17 (02:19:06):
You speech or some if some people are there live,
some people just are virtual and they watch it on
Twitch like it's a little stream party they have on Twitch,
and if they win the award, they're like ah on
Twitch and everything.
Speaker 8 (02:19:18):
How's it go.
Speaker 3 (02:19:21):
Like that?
Speaker 17 (02:19:21):
They get really hyped one of my favorite and go bro, yeah,
they probably do.
Speaker 4 (02:19:26):
Pros just like just like that.
Speaker 17 (02:19:30):
I put to borrow that one of a So there's
a thing called v tubers. It's like where they have
this weird avatar and they play video games. But a
peanut won an award last night. He dresses up as
a peanut and plays video games. And I'm very proud
of that because he's hilarious.
Speaker 3 (02:19:46):
I know. I think we talked about this last week. Tom.
Speaker 7 (02:19:49):
I was shocked to learn at that stage where I
learned that people actually just watch other people play video games.
Speaker 17 (02:19:56):
I've heard yeah, but it's awesome.
Speaker 7 (02:19:57):
I've heard it's huge in the industry's the gaming industry
is bigger than television and movies come by crazy.
Speaker 17 (02:20:04):
Yeah, dude, the money you think games, well now that
money is just liquid that it is what I mean.
Speaker 3 (02:20:11):
Yeah, no, I watched them with a girlfriend.

Speaker 7 (02:25:43):
But Headier, who was a longtime television news anchor here
in central Florida, also hosted a radio show right in
our building. But he went to Syracuse and so did
Bob Costas, so they knew each other that way.

that he and I went to college but thirty minutes
from each other.
Speaker 8 (02:26:19):
How about that?
Speaker 3 (02:26:19):

of a last minute news Are you ready?
Speaker 1 (02:27:11):
I sure am right, good time for you heard it
here first on the Jim Colbert Show.
Speaker 2 (02:27:17):
Well, the Orange County Sheriff's Office says no criminal acts
occurred in a deadly roller coaster accident at Epic Universe
in Orlando. Thirty two year old Kevin Zavala died in
September after riding the Stardust Racers coaster, and his death
has been ruled accidental. Now in an incident report, investigators
say Savalla suffered multiple blunt impact injuries, and that means
(02:27:38):
the case is now closed.
Speaker 3 (02:27:40):
So I don't know how his family's going to move
forward from that, all right.
Speaker 2 (02:27:44):
Sometimes you just don't want to do the social media
stunt AKA this guy, a South Florida man is accused
of filming himself cutting open and biting into a dead hog.
Speaker 3 (02:27:55):
Dude no in Calm Beach. Whoo oh a Florida man yea.
Speaker 2 (02:28:01):
The incident happened at a popular photo spot near the
Worth Avenue clock tower. A very very fancy air shoe
count very very she she tony tony very tony. Twenty
seven year old Jonathan Houston is charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief.
Police were alerted by a witness who thought he was
cutting a dog, but later confirmed it was a hog.
(02:28:21):
He allegedly makes videos of himself eating raw meat for
social media.
Speaker 3 (02:28:26):
Get a job, all right.
Speaker 2 (02:28:28):
Zutopia two is on track to become the fastest PG
film ever to reach the one billion dollar mark.
Speaker 3 (02:28:35):
Lord really yes.
Speaker 2 (02:28:36):
The animated sequel hit a billion dollars Friday today, after
being in theaters for just seventeen days. It's made over
two hundred and thirty two million domestically and over seven
hundred and fifty three million internationally. Zutopia two is the
third film to reach the milestone this year, after Leelu,
Win Stitch and Niza iiO.
Speaker 3 (02:28:56):
I hope I'm saying, or nie Ja too? Okay, yeah
sure yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:29:01):
And then finally, speaking of money, don't forget get your
power ball ticket?
Speaker 3 (02:29:06):
Oh what are we up to? It's a billion dollars billion?
Speaker 7 (02:29:10):
I could do that, yes, next drawing you Saturday night.
So until then, get it all right?
Speaker 8 (02:29:16):
I have to remember.
Speaker 2 (02:29:17):
Saturday night's powerball drawing will be worth at least one
billion dollars. That's because no one matched all six numbers,
and Wednesday nights already massive drawing.
Speaker 3 (02:29:26):
So the jackpot jumped again, hitting.
Speaker 2 (02:29:28):
The billion dollar mark and bringing the cash option up
to four hundred sixty one million dollars.
Speaker 3 (02:29:34):
Isn't that sad?
Speaker 5 (02:29:35):
It's John Morgan money.
Speaker 3 (02:29:36):
Do you win a billion dollars and you give half
of it to the tax man? And that is John Morgan.
Speaker 8 (02:29:41):
John Morgan, John Morrian.
Speaker 7 (02:29:43):
He was here talking one day. He's like, well, you know,
Forbes magazine says I'm a billionaires. I guess I am
to be a hundred books sean.
Speaker 5 (02:29:50):
Exactly pass out.
Speaker 3 (02:29:52):
Why wouldn't you, I mean, exactly, peel some off for
the people.
Speaker 2 (02:29:56):
All right, odds of winning the grand prize are still
about one in two hundred and ninety two million.
Speaker 3 (02:30:02):
But you know what, you never know takes just one right.
You got to play to win.
Speaker 2 (02:30:05):
You got to play to win. And you heard it
here first on the Jim Culbert Show. You know what
those dulcon tones mean. Mister Tom Sorrows.
Speaker 3 (02:30:13):
It's the weekend. It is the weekend. It is officially
the weekend.
Speaker 2 (02:30:18):
Before we get there, though, we do want to say
thank you because unfortunately I never came up with a
question of the day.
Speaker 7 (02:30:23):
Did I Yeah, I kind of forgot about that one too,
that we're having too much fun.
Speaker 2 (02:30:28):
Exactly exactly, we were having too much fun. Well, first
and foremost, Tom, we want to thank you again so much.
Speaker 3 (02:30:35):
Us.
Speaker 18 (02:30:36):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (02:30:37):
Well, you will be back again, hopefully someday you'll get
to work with Jim. But selfishly, I need to keep
you for myself.
Speaker 3 (02:30:46):
I was just gonna say, how that can happen, Bud,
He just shut the.
Speaker 11 (02:30:51):
No.
Speaker 7 (02:30:52):
Actually, I think he would like it. But you know,
because deb, you probably got some time coming off. You
have a birthday coming up.
Speaker 2 (02:30:58):
And yeah, and not only that, I mean now that
reminds me. It's like I should probably go home and
see how much vacation.
Speaker 3 (02:31:04):
Time I have.
Speaker 6 (02:31:05):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (02:31:05):
I don't know before we wiped it out. Okay, more
about it.
Speaker 2 (02:31:12):
So we also want to thank Corona Cigar Company, Faya's
Kara restaurant critic for The Orlando Weekly. Hearts go out
to Meghan Dewitz, teacher at Triangle Elementary School, with her
teacher wish list. Don't forget. You can go to real
Radio dot fm slash list so you can add your
name to it, just like Jack did for us today.
Also want to thank the great Michael Andrew. If you
(02:31:34):
haven't gotten the Swingerhead Christmas album, go to Michael Andrew
dot com and definitely add that to your Christmas song.
Speaker 3 (02:31:41):
You won't regret it, absolutely not. And I wanted to
say Jayden Grimes with his eight bit update, I know
nothing about gaming. That was awesome, but you'll learn something.
He's incredible.
Speaker 4 (02:31:51):
Yeah he is.
Speaker 7 (02:31:52):
He's the son of Brian Grimes, who's over in Johnny's house,
but twenty years old.
Speaker 3 (02:31:57):
But he's just got such a great attitude.
Speaker 8 (02:31:59):
And then who's personality of a twenty year old you're
ever going to see.
Speaker 7 (02:32:04):
Which is why we you know, It's like, we need
to find something for this kid to do on the show.
Speaker 3 (02:32:08):
He's got great, great hustle.
Speaker 2 (02:32:10):
And just in case you missed Faia's restaurant reviews, or
Megan explaining how Paris Hilton helped make her her school
wishless come true, or the eight Bit Update, all of
