From the City that changes the world, peers Rose with
three things you need to know are your Wednesday Rose.
So it's a time of year to write letters to Santa,
And yes it is, and Danta, he and the elves
are super busy this year. They're working, getting ready to
visit every single house on Christmas Eve, and you know

(00:23):
they need just like a little bit of help. So
Operation Santa is underwrite where you can help Santa make
sure every boy and girl has an awesome Christmas. So
here's how Operation Santa works. Kids and families can write
letters to Santa and others can adopt those letters on
behalf of Santa and kind of like help because there's
going to be a lot of letters, you know, so
you conduct a whole family or does individual letters. Now

(00:46):
the deadline shop for gifts is December sixteenth, and you
can check out Operation Santa if you want to, you know,
express some holidays here. No, yeah, I love that. So
Drinksgiving is on in DC. We don't know, as we've
been talking about Drinksgiving day before Thanksgiving when basically all
of your hometown friends are back and everyone gets together
and stays out drinking. So DC is allowing over two

(01:08):
hundred bars to extend their hours as late as four am,
so the late hours are approved for today through Sunday,
December first. And I do want to know that just
because the bars haven't approved in DC fork centted hours
does not necessarily mean they will be open letter later,
so make sure you call and see the individual bars hours.

(01:30):
And Food and Friends held this annual community driven fundraising
Eventslice of Life for the nineteenth year. The goal was
to sell six thousand Thanksgiving pies and raise over two
hundred and seventy thousand dollars with each pie sold. So
the cool thing is each pie sold is providing a
full day of home delivered medically tailored meals for an

individual living with a serious illness. Now, according to these
Life of Life website, the totals they've raised two hundred
and fifty two, one hundred and night twenty three dollars
and they sold six thousand, seven hundred and sixteen pies.
You can still donate if you want to, which is
very cool. Slice of Life dot DC dot org to donate.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
