Speaker 1 (00:00):
Let's do this from the city that changes the world.
Peers Rose with three things you need to know?
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Are your Friday Rose? What you got for us?
Speaker 1 (00:09):
So the Supreme Court is going to release at least
one opinion today regarding the upcoming TikTok ban because that's
supposed to be happening on Sunday. So the announcement was
posted on the Court's website homepage yesterday saying the Court
may announce opinions on the homepage beginning at ten am.
So okay, they're not going to be taking the bench.
The notice is highly unusual, as the Justice is usually
(00:30):
give several days notice before announcing their opinions and typically
read them aloud in the court room. But we don't
really know what's going on right now. Biden's sources say
that the President will not enforce the ban on TikTok,
and President left Donald Trump has about to save TikTok
from the band. So I, like I said, I have
no idea. I guess we're going to find out on
(00:51):
Sunday when it's supposed to be banned. So get ready
for extreme cold weather not fun. Overnight tempters are expected
to plunge into the single digit by early Tuesday morning.
Thanks to the polar vortex.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
Guys not fun.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
The DC region could see another round of light snow
Sunday night into Monday morning that could bring in three
inches or less of snow. There's actually a cold weather
emergency that's still in effect in DC and anyone who
sees someone in need of shelter is being asked to
call three one one, And as the forecast stands, it
could be one of the coldest inaugurations in years since
(01:27):
nineteen eighty five in fact, and it may end up
as the fourth coldest inauguration in DC.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
So just bundle up.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
And Alexovachkin made NHL history in the Washington Capitals versus
the Ottawa Senators game. I feel like every other day
is an Oval record breaking day. So o we scored
his eight hundred and seventy fourth career goal and broke
the record for most goalies scored on. He has scored
on one hundred and seventy nine different goalies, which impressive
(01:58):
right there. The goal was also his is it twenty
seventh career overtime game winner, which is the most overall,
and he is now twenty goals away from Gretzky for
a share of the NHL goals record, like overall record
of eight hundred and ninety four, twenty one goals away
from breaking the record and keeping it for himself. So
it's crazy, it's wild. Crazy is the right word. But like,
(02:21):
congrats to him. That's amazing. I wrote, those are the
three things need to know for the day.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Thank you, Rose, You're welcome. Yeah, that record. So Gretzky
retired in ninety nine. I think I mentioned earlier this week.
The next person behind Ovechkin is Sidney Crosby, who was
like one hundred and fifty goals behind him. This record
will probably stand for one hundred years, which is it's
really cool that he's and like during his career, the
NHL has had two lockout seasons where they just didn't play. Yeah,
(02:47):
and then there was the COVID year. So he would
have broken the record probably five years ago. So very
very special. Excited for him. Speaking Ray Schiements, I mentioned
this before, but so pigeon racing is like really popular
in some countries, Like it's like a million dollar industry.
There's a giant crime ring right now in Belgium where
(03:09):
prize pigeon racing birds where hundreds of thousands of dollars
were stolen with drones and lasers. Oh wow, that's how
crazy it is. So I guess the most expensive bird
come out of the top. Pigeon racing nation of Belgium
was sold for one point sixty five million dollars few
(03:30):
years ago. Or a pigeon, Yeah, one pigeon one point
six million dollars. So I guess last week a whole
coup of birds was stolen. They say that each one
of those birds can vary from one thousand to one
hundred thousand dollars. Wow, so some pigeon guy just lost
millions of dollars of birds.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
Well maybe the person that stole them or freeing the
birds because they don't want to be in a cage.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Now, that is true, because Shelby Sauce, you once freed
what animal from your neighbor's backyard?
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Turtles? Because this girl she kept like getting turtles from
you know, the forest, and just putting them in this
bird cage in her backyard. And there was like twelve
turtles in there. Yeah, and they were stacked on top
of each other, so inhumane, And so I jumped over
the fence when they were in Ocean City and I
freed them, and then her mom came over and yelled
at my mom. My mom was like, you're.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
You're weird because didn't she say like, I know your
daughter did it.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
She's like, I know your daughter did it, and she said, well,
there is no proof that my daar did it. And
also you have more than enough animals. Are you sure
that they're missing because they had so many animals in
that house.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Yeah, but that's one of those things where and I
love your mom. Yes, when your neighbor came over and said,
I know Shelby released the turtles, your mom had not
in that instant one hundred percent. It was my daughter
for sure, no doubt, but had to go. No proof,
there's no proof. The weird thing is that they say
some pigeon racing is so serious that even if they
sole the pigeons, but they were stolen, they can't be
raised with the proper documentation, So like the people that
(04:52):
stole them can't make money off of them unless they
breed them. All So weird with the pigeons. We get
that money, money, money, turn anymore, show
