Speaker 1 (00:01):
From the City that Changes the world, Pierce Rose with
three things you need.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
To know for you Wednesday, Rose.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
Months after ditching it's open seating policy, Southwest Airlines is
ending its most recognizable perks.

Speaker 4 (00:14):
Free checked baggage. Yeah, and hate that.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
So they're going to begin charging for the first and
second checked bag beginning.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
On May twenty eighth.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
However, if you are a member of its A List
loyalty program, a holder of its branded credit card, or
if you're traveling on a business fair, you will be
exempt from those fees.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
But yeah, I saw that and I was like, you've
got to be hidding me.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
So CEO Bob Jordan had previously said that Southwest would
not impose bag fees, but behold, we here we are.
This move aligns with airlines that it's competing with, who
collectively earned five point five billion in bag fees in
twenty twenty four.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
I got insane.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
Yeah, going after that money.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
If they don't have first class, like what I'm about
even fly first class?

Speaker 2 (01:00):
But I'm like, what they do now? Business class?

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Okay, those planes every Sunday is exactly. They don't have
phone plugs, TVs. I don't use the TVs by use
the phone plugs on other airlines.

Speaker 5 (01:12):
Well, it's weird because Southwest was built as like a
budget airline, and the reason all their planes are the
same is because.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
It's easier to maintain able the mechanics, and I fixed
them all.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
But they're not a budget airline. Like I stopped flying
Southwest when I moved back because it's too expensive.

Speaker 5 (01:26):
I'm saying, like, that's where they used to have the
non science seas. His idea was people lamp quicker the plane,
get the gage for the lest of my time. So
it's where they're like, we're gonna sweat you now.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Yeah, yeah, okay, They're just trying to make more money,
is what I'm saying, which is so annoying, especially in
this economy.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
So DC's cherry blossoms have entered the first stage of
their blooming cycle. The National Park Service announced yesterday that
cherry trees around the title basin are showing green bud
so Cherry Blossom Watch is a go.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
So it is the first of six stages that.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
The cherry trees will move through on their way till
too full bloom, and that peak blue is expected to
happen between March twenty eighth and thirty first. Obviously, I
will let you know as the stages happen and the
Capitals are giving out free lawn signs commemorating alex Ovechkin
Chase for the NHL all time career goals record.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
We obviously have been talking about this.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
So you can pick up the free Capitals watching Great
Chase lawn sign at the MedStar Capital's ice Plex as
in Arlington and Capital want Arena team stores, they.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
Are offering them.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
They started offering them yesterday and it is a limited amount,
so I personally would call it before.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
I go just to make sure they still have the
signs and they're not like wasting time driving over there.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
But it is one per person and while supplies last
during normal store hours. If you want to add that
to your yard and just like be part of the movement,
I love it.

Speaker 4 (02:44):
I'm Rose. Those are the three things you need to
know for the day. Thank you, Rose, You're welcome.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Sauce had sent this to me.

Speaker 5 (02:50):
One of the honest compliments I tend to get is
about my eyelashes. Yes, I never really know like how
to respond because like my grandma while I was growing up,
Let's say that on ways to get eyelashes on boy.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
Absolutely, that's what they do, and.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
People like you have really long eyelashes, you do it
is people pay for eyelashes like yours.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Natural bash on Valley.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
But sas send me this new TikTok trend. Men are
trimming their eyelashes to look more quote masculine.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (03:19):
I have never in my life even thought about trimming
your eyelashes.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
Yeah I don't.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
I Like when I saw that, I was a bit surprised,
just because long eyelashes. I understand that that's what a
lot of women do want, but I wouldn't think it's
not masculine to have long eyelashes.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Yeah, it doesn't, So it doesn't make any sense.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
It kind of makes me sad though that they're like, wait,
I feel like I have to look more masculine.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
So that is kind of sad.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
But also like the videos I've seen are really aggressive,
like they're taking like the buzzers yeah, to the eyelashes,
and like, your eyelashes have a purpose, not just an
aesthetic thing.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
So there's thousands of videos on the talk showing men
using trimmers and or scissors or nail clippers.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
Gosh. Yeah, gives me the gbs.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
You just always have to say to the next level.
They can't just use scissors, like trimming scissors. They gotta
be like, no, we're gonna buzz it all. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (04:15):
So this doctor says, trimmer your eyelashes is not recommended
at all. Yeah, for several reasons. Yeah, going back to
the point, they have a purpose. So they act as
dusters or safety barriers. By cutting them, even just a
short trim, you risk your eyes come in contact with dust, dirt,
other irritants, which can also cause infection.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
Yeah, which is not a good thing.

Speaker 5 (04:35):
They also affect your tear film, which is a thin
layer of fluid that covers the eye and protects it
from irritants. Okay, the tear film is disrupted, you may
experience dry hours, dry eyes, or tearing. You're also susceptible
to other eye injuries too.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
They're not either your eyelashes or to keep stuff out.
They're gonna harm your high.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Well here's the thing they say.

Speaker 5 (04:56):
If you ever had something coming at your face and
you close your eyes for at you like before you
even like saw it, Yeah, that's your eyelashes almost like
whiskers on a cat.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Though, I was doing my laundry and when I was
taking stuff out of the dry or the dusty stuff came
out of the lit holder and it came towards my
eyes and I just closed my eyes and I got stuck
in my eyelashes.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Boom, saved you. Look at them. Saves save you.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
My eyes look okay today because of my eyelashes saving
me this morning.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
They also they protect you from the sun too.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
Oh okay, well yeah that makes sense sense.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Yeah, fellas, there's other things we can do. Yeah, then
trimming the eye lots of other things.

Speaker 4 (05:33):
Yeah, yeah, uh.

Speaker 5 (05:35):
At least when we do the speed dating thing on Thursday,
maybe I'll have the best eyelashes there.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Dude, if I saw a dude with no eyelashes, I
would be thoroughly freaked out. Yeah, like like you could
tell that he trimmed them himself and it wasn't like
a medical condition, Like I would be like what happened.

Speaker 5 (05:51):
That's like when celebrities like bleached their eyebrows or shave them, Like,
who why do we do that?

Speaker 2 (05:56):
I don't, I don't, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
It shouldn't be not a fan, that's not something to
flex over, Like I true my eloshes No, don't do that.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Please do it myself too. Didn't even cut. It's all
good to go, Kendrick. Now it's intern John Mary
