Speaker 1 (00:00):
I was home over for many a Monday after a
Super Bowl. I had some of my more epic drunk
drunks on super Bowls throughout my life.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
As yesterday was both Super.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
Bowl Sunday, my favorite team was playing, and it was
my birthday. I was on high keep it cool alert
on myself. I was keeping an eye on me. I
wasn't going to let me get away with any hijinks.
There was a long period there where the Super Bowl sucked.
It was weird. I how did that happen? Was there
something different about the sport? There's like a dozen year
period where every game was a blowout and it wasn't

(00:28):
the least bit interesting. Now they almost all come down
to the final drive, which is awesome. And I mean
that was as an exciting a game as you're ever
going to get last night. But back in the day,
people got more into the ads because the games were
so boring, and so they still pay attention to rating
what was the best ad? And because you have so
many eyeballs on you, these companies spend gazillions of dollars

(00:52):
trying to come up with the most creative ads that
they can. I'm often amazed that I remember the ad
and like the punchline and stuff like that, but don't
have the slightest day what the product was, which I'm
not sure does you any good? I'm not sure there's
this echo chamber for the Super Bowl ads now, though
like us talking about it, certainly is any way.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
This one featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito was, according
to the ad Meter, the number one ad yesterday.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Let's listen to it. Thank you agent, State Farm, like
a good neighbor state farm? Is there cut? Okay, Arnold,
I'm hearing negba. It's neighbor. That's what I said. Neighbor, neighbor, neigba.
Let's go again, like a good neighbor State farm? Is
there cut?

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Now?

Speaker 2 (01:39):
What neighbor? Yeah, neighbor just leg it suitin the paper.
Neighbor still now fa neighbor bar Arnold got a bit
of a script change. You love this, Thank you agent,
State Farm like a good neighbor State farm. Is there

(02:00):
a backstaba?

Speaker 1 (02:01):
I'm a deck stable, you are a backstaba, he says
to Danny de Vido, his co star from Twins. Yes,
But the fact that Arnold Swartzenegger's accent finally gets mocked
to him after all these years of being a giant
movie star.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Is I find funny?

Speaker 1 (02:20):
That's what I said, Neba, How did have you ever
read about that?

Speaker 2 (02:26):
How he did? Did that test?

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Well? At some point they decided do not lose the
accent because all kinds of people have relearned how to
say words.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
I thought I.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Heard that from you that he had made the decision
to stick with the accent.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Maybe because it was his trademark.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
I can hide my own Easter eggs, so I may
know all about this and have forgotten it. I don't know,
but I mean clearly he could sit down with a
voice coach and learn to say neighbor if he wanted to.
Oh yeah, but he never did. Yeah, and he made
gazillions of dollars and humped maids. I'm sorry, there's no
reason to throw that in.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Wow, that was distasting.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
It was distasteful, and like ten different levels was the
other thing that's gonna mention. Oh, so as twenty years ago,
the twenty years ago Super Bowl where Janet Jackson's nipple
showed up with what they called a wardrobe malfunction, And
it says here in the New York Times, what Janet
Jackson's wardrobe malfunction says about America Twenty years later, Nipplegate

(03:23):
forced Americans to reckon with their idea of indecency and
inadvertently changed the way we consume media forever.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
I think you're making a bigger deal out of it
than is necessary. I don't want to sit next to
you on a long bus ride.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Okay, but uh, two interesting things about this article that
I did for some reason read like I said, we
still do not know what happened there, or if it
was on purpose or was an accident, And even all
these years later that Janet Jackson and Justin Timerlake have
not said.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
They didn't respond to The New York Times for this interview.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
So anyway, one of the reasons it went so big
was TiVo was a new thing or having devices red
zat back. If it had happened like three years earlier,
it would have gone by so fast nobody would even
have known it. Because of that, people could zat back
and this I didn't know. Everybody wanted to see it
again and couldn't. And a couple of tech geniuses in

(04:14):
the Bay area of San Francisco thought it's crazy that
there's no place to upload a video where we can
all watch it, and started YouTube because of all that
video is the first thing that they put on there,
and thought that there should be like a warehouse where
we can all go and see a video we all
want to see again.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
That's where YouTube came from. The Nipple heard round the world,
