Spring Break has sprung and all hell has broken loose in Ft. Lauderdale.  Jack reminisces about saying he'd work out and then he'd go drinking...

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Miami Beach officials say they are done with spring break
and acting arguably the toughest restrictions yet. So now those
large crowds looking to keep the party going to flock
north to nearby Fort Lauderdale Beach. Vacationers we spoke to
say it's that midnight curfew on South Beach that brought
them up to Broward. Already, there have been arrests and
crimes here according to authorities, including even battery on an officer.

(00:20):
Despite those incidents, officers I've spoken to say that they
have things under control and they are on patrol. But
unlike Miami Beach, here in Fortlauderdale Beach.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
There is no curfew. Every year go through this of
my adult life, there's some spring break destination that has
been around for years gets two out of hand and
everybody there decides, you know, this is not worth it anymore, right,
So they cracked down, and then the spring break revelers
go to some other warm place that time of year,

(00:51):
and that town is excited to have them because it's
going to bring in millions and millions of dollars, and
it lasts a couple of years, and then they decide,
you know this is not worth it, and they pass
some ordinances to drive them away.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Two points number one, there are now guns, lots of guns,
and people willing to use them in a way that
was just utterly non existence thirty years ago. Secondly, and Hanson,
it's it's my bad. I'd meant to ask for this.
Miami Beach put out an absolutely fabulous, hilarious video all
around the country ran in his ads explaining that they

(01:26):
were breaking up with spring Break. If you could find that,
we ought to run that because it's it's really well done.
Brotting gangs of people bent on violence, or it drove
them to Fort Lauderdale, is what happened. They've they've reduced
the spring Break mayhem substantially.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
In Miami Beach. Yeah, well, the court we moved up
the coast. I mean, if I go someplace to party
and you got to be you know, in your hotel
room by midnight or ten o'clock or depending on the town.

Speaker 3 (01:53):
What Yeah, See, that's perfect for me. I'm a I'm
a sprinter, not a marathon er. That'd be perfect. Hey,
let's all get commit acts of physical coupling that we
later regret and get to bed at a decent time,
so we can get up early and get to the
gym here at the hotel. It will work out in
excuse me, which way to the fitness center?

Speaker 2 (02:18):
God, how many times have I checked into a hotel
back in the day when I drank and thought, you know,
that looks all I'm gonna get up, I'm gonna work out,
and they take advantage of that free breakfast they give
you ant no, never, not a chance.
