Jack actually sat down and watched a couple of sitcoms last night and to his surprise, he felt really good afterwards. Maybe there's something to say about the evening sitcom routine and not just doom scrolling for hours...

Speaker 1 (00:00):
I was thinking about this last night. My kids and
I got home from eating out, and I said, you
know what we're gonna do. We're gonna watch an episode
of the Office, because that we started that series. I'd
never watched the American Office. It's pretty dang funny, but
not as good as the British, but pretty good. We

(00:20):
so we watched an episode of the Office, and then
Henry is getting ready for bedtime and school and everything
like that, and his brother, who's a little older and
can handle it, we watched an episode of Family Guy. Anyway,
So for the first time, and I don't know how long,
I sat down and watched two sitcoms on a Thursday night,
something that I did every Thursday night or many nights
of my life, my entire life, since I was like

(00:43):
ten years old. And I thought, why don't I do
this more often? After a long day of thinking about
the hard stuff and doing hard stuff, I sat down
and watched a couple of TV shows, and I feel
happier for it. And I don't I only know my
own lifestyle. I don't know if other people, but I
know that appointment TV ratings show that people don't do
that anymore. But there was something to the cycle of

(01:06):
that end of the day. And it doesn't have to
be a comedy. You know, you watch an episode of
alaw on order or something. But I don't know how
many people still have that rhythm anymore, as opposed to
scrolling through a bunch of tiny little crap that gives
you not a satisfaction and then I don't know, doing
what YouTube videos, playing video games, going to bed. I
don't know. I don't know what works for other people's brains.
But I found it comforting and like detangling the day

(01:30):
in a way that I hadn't done a very long time.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
Yeah, I think all the people streaming Netflix or what
have you, or doing a same similar thing, I know
I have to do that after watching a bunch of news.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
In the evening, which I do, I've got it do.
I never watched something fun. I never watch anything rating
not important.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
By the way, I just came across what might be
my favorite video of all time, celebrity chef activist Jamie
Oliver showing children how McNuggets are made, ground up, the
chicken and all, and then smugly says, now, who would
still eat this? And literally every single kid's hand shot
up and he looks so sad, armstrong and getty
