We went to our first NYCC this year, and were front row for the Spotlight on George RR Martin, and attended the live premiere of the first Dunk and Egg trailer and the follow-up panel which included Peter Claffey (Dunk), Dexter Sol Ansell (Egg), Ira Parker (showrunner), and GRRM. This episode has our usual shot by shot breakdown of the trailer, followed by what we saw and learned at New York Comic Con 2025!

George R Martin was the first ever attendee.
Well badge owner. He was badge number one at the
first ever New York Comic Con in1964.
Here in 2025, me and a Shay attended our first New York
Comic Con. I really don't know what badge
numbers those would be. Adding all the badges up since

(01:08):
1964. Well, it's a large number.
There were over 250,000 people there this year alone.
We were front row for the spotlight on George R Martin.
And before that we attended the live premiere of the first
Dunkin Egg trailer and the follow up panel which included
Peter Clappy who is Dunk, Dexter, Sol Ansel who is Egg,
Ira Parker the showrunner, and George himself.

(01:31):
We'll talk about all that. But after the main attraction
here, our usual traditional shotby shot breakdown, deep dive
into the trailer, the first evertrailer.
It's so exciting of Night of theSeven Kingdoms, and we will be
doing our best to connect what we're seeing in the trailer to
the parallel scenes in the book. There'll be a few spoilers, of

(01:55):
course, but nothing you don't already know 99% of if you've
read The Hedge Knight, so nothing to worry about there.
A lot of the characters are visible, so we'll get to point
them out. It's really fun to see all the
armor and heraldry especially, which is going to be a big focus
of the visuals for the season, and that's fun.
Sir Dantos would be happy for that.
Some of the Targaryen armor in particular is amazing.

(02:16):
This is an era, ironically, whenTargaryen armor probably peaked
because, well, none of them rodeDragons.
So they had to do a little more to intimidate or to seem strong.
And that included going to smaller tournaments like this
one. And they knew people would see
them up close more often. So all the more reason to go all
out with your armor. So we've got all that and more

(02:38):
on this episode of History of Westeros Podcast.
Hello and welcome everybody. We are live streaming at not a
usual time, though it kind of isa usual time.
This is our normal time slot formy Twitch streams, which is
Crusader Kings 3 for A Song of Ice and Fire.
We play a dynastic style role-playing game where you take

(03:03):
over as your heir every time youdie.
And we're currently playing, very relevantly, the House from
the Sworn Sword. Osgrey.
Yeah, blanked out on the name Osgrey, where we've actually
become the kings of Chucky. So I was thinking, kept
thinking, Chucky. Yeah, the Chucky lion has risen
strong. So.
But today we're doing the DunkinEgg trailer and our New York
Comic Con review, which is pretty fun and we've got a lot

(03:25):
to talk about. This will be, of course,
something will change during theseason.
We'll figure out what. Our usual time slot is probably
Mondays for reviews of the show, but we'll let you know if you're
watching us now, Thanks for being here live.
But you can also catch us on other platforms, particularly
Spotify where you get an edited video or on Patreon where you

(03:45):
get ad free. If you noticed anything we
didn't or have things you want to ask questions about, hit us
up at westeroshistory@gmail.com or if you're here live, put that
question right here in the box. Now our trivia question.
Dunk believes that Sir Humphrey Harding, the one with the
diamonds, sigil, or and heraldryred and white, was the most

(04:09):
impressive of the first day. How many nights did he humble?
Meaning defeat? How many nights did he humble
the the wording that Dunk himself uses when he thinks
about it. Answer at the end and answer
during. If you're clever, you'll hear me
pointed out during conversation. Also, let me read you these cool

(04:30):
section headers. This is what we're going to be
talking about today. We've got our intro and our set
up. Then the first night of the
Seven Kingdoms. We're going to divide it into a
few sections. The trailer on the road, Ashford
at the camp and stables, the Targaryen scenes, the tourney,
the joust that is. And we'll culminate that with
the scenes from the Trial of seven.

(04:52):
And then we'll finish this episode up with all our New York
Comic Con George R Martin panel content.
So let's also have a quick poll for you guys who are live here.
I'm curious which of these characters are you most excited
to see on screen? Not necessarily your favorite
character, not necessarily the one you have the most interest
in as far as the plot, but just what they look like and how

(05:16):
they're presented and all that. And the four choices are not
dunker egg, Baylor breaks beer, Makar Targaryen and his brother
Tenzel too tall, or the LaughingStorm.
There's something special about the first trailer for Season 1
of any show, and you could be getting into something that

(05:39):
lasts a really long time. This one's extra special because
it obviously has things that precede it, big shoes that
precede it, but it's not trying to fill those shoes, it's trying
to do something different. And we as fans who have read The
Hedge and I are already sold on that idea.
We've already read it, we already get it, we already like
it or love it. And even when the first TV show

(06:02):
was crutching records was destroying all the previous
standards for success, the idea of The Hedge and I kind of
seemed a bit far fetched as an adaptation, even though so many
of us like it, if not love it. As I said, it's just such a
different animal, right? It doesn't have a lot of the
elements. That might be why the original

(06:23):
show is so popular. And it's so hard to say exactly
what made it so popular because so many things worked.
Dragons though. No Dragons, no threat from the
north, no white Walker type thing, not even free folk, no
grand plotting, no weddings of different colors, purple, red or
whatever. You not even a war, not even

(06:44):
multiple PO VS So these are reasons why even though Game of
Thrones are successful, it's like, well, could they really
make the hedge night? On the other hand, the one POV
Dunk most resembles is Brienne. And we love Brienne again, as
show as book readers, what we'rea minority, but hey, Brienne was

(07:04):
really popular on the show too, so that really worked.
That's a great connection. They liked the what she brought
to the table as a character, herpersonality and the way she
stood out. And we'll see some of that from
Dunk. I think.
As I talked about briefly in theintro, the the Targaryen armor.
There's as many Targaryen suits of armor in this trailer, just

(07:25):
this trailer as there is in Hot D in Game of Thrones combined.
Pretty sure of that. I might, I could be wrong.
Danny wears bits and pieces but nothing close to a full suit.
So I don't count any of Daeneryskit as being armor.
Jon Snow, even if you count him as a Targaryen, which he
shouldn't probably, he doesn't wear heavy armor anyway so it
doesn't matter. In hot D.

(07:45):
Damon wears armor. His armor is awesome.
Aegon the Second wore Aegon the First armor.
That was pretty awesome. And Rainey swore armor and her
armor was really cool too. I think those are the only three
though. Aamon didn't wear armor.
And you know, the other people we see ride Dragons aren't
Targaryen, they're Valarian. Yeah.
Or, you know, off the white. So armor is a really broad

(08:07):
palette for creativity. Like, it fits pretty well in the
realm of, you know, fashion is agigantic world and medieval
style fashion, too. Armor is part of that.
You could have a lot of options. There's a lot of parts and bits
and pieces, different ways to color it and shape it.
We'll see a lot of that creativity on display in the
show, and obviously not just from the Targaryens, from a lot

(08:28):
of these other houses. We're going to see a lot of
jousts. There's going to be, remember
one of the things the Laughing Storm does is he knocks crests
off people's helmets and tosses in the crowd.
We may not see that specifically.
That may be a little too hard topull off that precision, but
we'll we'll still probably see those crests, you know, whether
they're getting knocked off or not.
And I mentioned the three that we're going to see Aryan's armor

(08:49):
in the trailer, Makar's armor brief kind of in the trailer and
Valar's armor that Baylor wears. We also have Darren's armor,
which we don't seem to see in the trailer.
So there's going to be a fourth one by the time we see the show.
And that's going to mean the most we've ever seen Targaryen
armor in all prior Game of Thrones products.
That's pretty wild. Let's look at on the road.
This is basically where the first shot of the trailer starts

(09:12):
and it's Dunk is in the rain with Sir Arlen's body.
We've got it on screen. He's digging it up and laying
the body down. He's you see him holding him at
one point. That's pretty much straight from
the book. There's a little change there.
Instead. It had recently rained.
He knew it was about to rain again.
Big. You know, that's a very small
change, right? And it's a reminder how strong

(09:33):
he is. He's holding this man doesn't
seem to have any, any trouble with it.
Dunk, from his POV in the book, thinks that Sir Arlen is like a
bag of leaves. We get the shot of the three
horses together. That's very exciting.
We love the horses. We got Thunder, the big and
brown one. We got Chestnut, the chestnut
colored one. Sweetfoot is white.
Sweetfoot's color isn't really given in the wiki, so it looks

(09:55):
like most people didn't catch it.
Sweetfoot is copper colored. That's very under the radar.
I only figured that out while preparing for this episode
because it's described as sorreland a horse and a sorrel's type
of plant. But when it's refers to a
horse's coat, it's coppery. So they can be a lot of range
within their reddish copper to goldish copper.
But hey, I bet all the horse people got that and nobody else.

(10:16):
Pretty much. Certainly if it's not in the
wiki, that means it would it notdidn't get caught by many
people. So then he's finishing the grave
and looks like he's doing a little prayer thinking about it,
you know, saying some words. That's also from the book.
And then we have this tagline, Atale 100 years before Game of
Thrones. Yeah.
I mean, we would say we would quibble with that and say 90,

(10:38):
but that's fine. And in the hedge night, it
starts with the story offered here takes place about 100 years
prior to the events described inthe Game of Thrones.
So it it also says about 100 years.
It says 100 years. Whatever, That's nothing.
We have this awesome shot of thesunrise.
It's beautiful. This is probably the next.
This is probably the Morning Dunk because Sir Arlen died in

(10:58):
the night while it was he got caught a a chill from those
rains and so you expect that Dunk buries him as the sun is
rising. And then we get the full sunrise
here and Dunk starts to check out the kit that he now has
that's also straight from the book.
He's like when we take an inventory, nothing fits him.
He except the sword is perfect. Also that and that's look looks

(11:21):
like what we have here. Pretty much straight from the
book. Then it jumps ahead to see some
other we see some other scenes. We'll talk about this one in
Ashford 'cause there's pretty much nothing else on the road
for Dunk by himself in terms of shots from the trailer.
We have this great shot is the Circo is being tossed over onto
his head. That is a nice reference to how
tall he is. This is probably Steely Pate

(11:41):
helping him get dressed at this point.
Egg is going to be discovered and will be with his family.
So someone else's suit, which iskind of ironic with the Squire
and his most important moment ofsquiring.
He's not there for it, but hey, you got to do what you got to
do. And everything seems to be
straight from the book, the ropebelt, even that pommel in the in

(12:02):
the in the hedge night. He has a Blackstone in the
pommel. They just added a little bit of
extra detail here by giving it A7 pointed star in the center.
It's either like a coin or just a carving.
Does it look like a coin to you?Kind of looks like there's a
stuck a coin in there, but it could just be a carving.
It's like a little copper or or bronze, something like that.
Anyway, I thought that was a nice touch, you know, adding

(12:25):
that in there and Dunk is looking pensive in the mix, in
the midst of mix next here. So kind of pretty clear what's
going on here. He's getting ready for the
trial, putting on his big old helm, which is going to be not
you, not a unique helm in general, but he's going to be
the only one that has a helm like that that we see at least
in the trailer. Straight out of Mike Miller's

(12:46):
comic adaptation. Some of this armor, this one in
particular is, is just just exactly what Dunk's armor, what
his helm looks like. Yeah, you're absolutely right.
So it's something that's very familiar if you've seen the
graphic novel, read it all the way through.
What have you or seen art of it which is out there without you
having to without even reading it.
So this is going to be very iconic and memorable.

(13:07):
One that George signed off on and it's just really cool.
Then we get into a little of thewe get a little bit of the Comic
Relief here. We have a dunk and this stable
guy or guy who works for Baylor,I guess, I don't know, he says,
are you Baylor Targaryen and he's letting get out of the way,
etcetera, etcetera. So that's and that's a big part
of the show, right, That the humor is a big aspect of this.

(13:30):
It's always been an aspect of the other shows, but it's
particularly important here. And it's a maybe a different
kind of humor because of course we have a different kind of POV.
We we don't have someone that's,you know, grew up around the
dining room table telling, you know, certain jokes or polite or
certain types of humor aren't appropriate.
This is a different kind of guy.The orange bandage with the
white Suns that we saw there, that's house Ashford.

(13:52):
You'll see a lot of that just around because it's of course
their castle, etcetera. We have this great shot of Dunk
under the archway here. It looks, it's a very iconic
kind of a similar framing shot that we get from a lot of shows,
not just Game of Thrones. It's kind of a, a standard thing
to do because it looks great, right?
It's a, there's a reason it's done a lot.

(14:14):
I love those nights on either side.
This this statues that are in nightly posture getting ready
for specifically a joust. It looks like that is very cool
like that. Let's move forward to some shots
from the stable and at camp. We've got our first shot of egg
here at in the darkness. Of course, this is going to be

(14:35):
familiar. This is their night, their first
night together at at Ashford, but at by the campfire and they
have their little other humorousconversation here where he asks
if you have you, you know, are you have heard of Sir Duncan the
Tall and he's like I've never heard of you.
And he says what have you heard of all the Knights in the seven
Kingdoms? The good ones?
Yeah. So hey, that's introducing the
character, showing that he's notafraid to say snarky things and

(15:01):
all that. He's not afraid.
Of junk too. And he he does know actually
quite a lot of the night. Yeah, he's not.
More than junk would realize. Yeah, he doesn't understand why
he would know those things, but he's not lying.
Yeah, He can't perceive the possibility there.
So this is great. This is then we move on to
seeing. This is probably the first scene
where they meet right here, likeliterally the moment or briefly

(15:25):
after the moment where they meetfor the first time.
And because he's taking his horses to the stable and that's
where egg is and we get the linefrom the trailer.
I could Squire for you, Sir. That's pretty much straight from
the book as well. And it's great.
We love it. We have this next day on the
bridge. It says you don't have dogs.
And we have that other joke and Dunk barking like a dog.

(15:45):
That's pretty funny. That's not from the from the
from the book, but it's a great add on, you know, a little bit
like that. What do we have next year?
Yeah, look at his reaction there.
He's like, and then he jumps backwards.
Got to love that. We have the great shot of the
Targaryen procession coming across the bridge.
It looks like Dunk is seeing them, and it's pretty

(16:09):
intimidating from his perspective, from what we're
used to. It's kind of small, right?
It's still the biggest procession there, but from past
shows, it just. It's not, it's a low, smaller
scale, and that's the point. They aren't as powerful as they
used to be, but they're still trying to flex a bit here and
there to keep people from getting any ideas, which they

(16:30):
did right. The Blackfyre Rebellion is only
15 years in the past. It's an open question how much
the Blackfyre Rebellion will be discussed in this show.
It needs to be discussed at least a little bit.
It wasn't mentioned in the Hedgenight, but that is a obvious
thing that needs to be corrected.
It would be a bit weird not haveit mentioned at all.
Maybe it's only mentioned a little bit, but yeah, I think

(16:52):
we'll see at least a little talkabout it, maybe just a sentence
or two. Now we have the puppet show
here. We have the pretty much straight
from the book again, it's great. The dragon breathing fire.
The third show that comes up is Serwin of the Mirror Shield, and
that's pretty cool. That's the one that's going to
be the one that happens when eggbursts in.

(17:12):
If that's how they if they keep it the same from the book.
So that's pretty exciting. You have an actual person who's
about to defeat the dragon. So that's kind of a little
hidden symbolism there, that theplay that's happening right
before the conflict happens withDunk and Aryan is.
Yeah, well, it's the thing that gets Aryan upset is he sees the
dragon lose, and that makes him mad.

(17:32):
Of course, he's already mad because of what happened during
the joust and him having to givehis horse up and all that stuff.
So that's part of why he's frustrated.
And here's. Where I'll point out the sermon
of the mirror shield is Tensell. You can see when I zoom in, it's
it's pretty clearly Tanzan Crawford.
And it just makes sense for her to play the main role in this

(17:57):
show and for her to play the character that will piss Aryan
off. So it just doubly makes sense.
But you can see you can recognize her pretty clearly
when you zoom in. Pretty cool.
Yeah, 'cause he he's going to attack the people who are
actually doing the puppetry. And you're right, it's the the
actual Serwin is the offensive one, the one that beats the
dragon. That's a great point.
Yeah, I like that. And of course, we have this, the

(18:18):
trailer shot of Dunk kind of noticing Tanzel.
It's nice and sweet, them looking at each other, making
eyes briefly, I suppose, although we don't know if she
looks back, but she probably does.
You never know what scene we're actually seeing, if it's two
different scenes being spliced together.
So we have this, the master of games here, Plummer.
We have the line being said in the trailer.

(18:38):
I was Squire to Arlene, a penny tree since I was a boy.
This is almost certainly spoken to Plummer as it is in the book,
because he's trying to prove that he's a knight.
And we have the plumber kind of hawk and spit into his cup, and
I can only imagine what the heckis going on there.
But it's just more of the show'ssense of humor, I suppose.
We have what appears to be a very cool shot of the apple, the

(19:02):
fossil ways fighting each other. We get Stefan and Raymond.
They are well displayed here in the book.
They have their helmets on, but you got to see these people's
faces. That's a standard thing for
people to do in TV shows is to have the armor taken off their
face, at least for part of the time, so that people can keep
track of them. We don't need that, but regular

(19:23):
audiences do, right? We we can keep track, but it's
nice to have that. It's fine.
I don't mind that. Maybe I'll do, but it is what it
is. So yeah, we got Stefan on the
right and Raymond on the left. You don't get a great shot of
Raymond because his back is to the Fen says he's getting
knocked through it. And you get a great look at
Stefan. Stefan, of course, being the the
jerky one. We have this interesting moment

(19:46):
here with we can just go to thisnext one here.
You know, we can talk about in the in the tent there what
appears to be some might be a change from the books where we
have Dunk is talking to the laughing storm here.
And the reason I think this is different is because the voice
over says, you know, I don't have I don't, I don't think,
think I have a chance. And he says 0.

(20:07):
You don't have a chance. And he in this moment, he really
does look like Peter Dinklage when he's leaning forward like
that and he's saying something very Tyrion like he's like, oh,
you don't have a chance. So this is not something from
the book because he doesn't havethis conversation with the
Laughing Storm. He doesn't have any conversation
with the laughing Storm in private at all.
So. But what he does have is a lot
of internal monologue about not being good enough, about not

(20:29):
being able to. He gets to really, he's really
confident when he arrives, when he starts to doubt himself.
So what I think this is is replacing some of that internal
monologue, which you can't just what are you going to just do
narration with conversations, organic conversations with
important characters or characters who are relevant.
And this is probably what one ofthese is.
He's even wearing the laughing storms like little crown lit

(20:50):
thing, which is I don't know what to deal with that.
His little joking thing. He's part of his Laughing storm,
yeah. Having a lark, yes.
You know, making himself more amused at the situation by
putting Dunk in his crown, right?
Yeah, it's it's it's cool. I mean, it looks like they went
really big with this character. And he is really big.

(21:10):
When you read about him in the book, he's just constantly
laughing during joust. He's doing that thing with the
knocking crests off. He's absolutely the most
colorful character outside the main protagonist and antagonist,
right. There's there's Pretty Little
doubt there, even if he has fewer lines than say, Raymond
Fossaway, who I think Raymond's the one in the book who talks to
dunk the most. I'm not sure that'll be the same

(21:31):
here. There's a different there's a
response that the laughing stormhas that might come later or
might be related to this, but I think it's well, we'll find out.
Let's let's hear the line. It's in every man.
There are many men, so be brave,be just be tall.

(21:51):
So it it's also kind of a teary and esque thing to say, right?
Like be who you are. You know, you're tall, be a tall
guy and that's that's an advantage.
You know, you can use that advantage.
You use your tallness to intimidate and in in battle and
all that, you know, be what you are.
So that's pretty cool. I like that.
This is if that's what they've done with this character, it's

(22:13):
pretty exciting. Curious.
I'm sure he's going to be big part of the the humor that we
have already alluded to and I'veseen a little bit of here.
Here's a great shot of the shield.
Dunk is legitimately taken aback.
He's moved by it. He looks, he's looking at it
that it's exactly what he wanted.
Although even in this moment in the book, he starts to doubt
whether he's made the right choice because he's like, oh,

(22:33):
it's kind of gloomy and how can I just possibly bring me luck?
It looks kind of like it's a falling star, right?
Is it like that's, that's kind of a bad luck, isn't it?
And they're like, no, it's a tree.
It's growing, it's new. This is like he's like, they
talk him into the goodness of itall.
Which kind of shows you the malleability of symbolism in the
1st place. It's really just what you choose

(22:55):
to believe, and having a a good attitude about it is important,
which is kind of what the Laughing Storm seems to have
been saying in part with that voice over or whatever.
We'll see that full conversationwhen we see it, and I'm sure
there'll be more to it. What do we have next?
Here we have our first appearance of Aryan.
This is great. He is pretty much exactly what

(23:18):
you want from Aryan. He is absolutely imperious and
arrogant and insulting in the book.
Curls of silver, gold hair framed of face, sculpted and
imperious, highbrow and sharp cheekbones, straight nose, pale
smooth skin without blemish. Obviously they changed the hair,
but everything else is like 100%on right from without

(23:40):
description. And I'm cool with changing the
hair because, well, it's a Targaryen hairstyle we haven't
seen yet. And that's fine.
That's, that's kind of what they're doing.
They just want to have some variety.
He just looks like like the the recolored skin of Jace to me.
You know, like you get like outfit too in your game and like
here's the very the what silver hair Jace anyways.

(24:01):
That's hilarious. That's short hair.
And the way he delivers the line, not clever enough.
It's very like Roose Bolton ish where you he's almost
whispering. Look at that look there.
He looks. So that is the look.
He is so cocky, arrogant, like, oh, I don't have time for you.
Yeah, I not clever enough. He says it so well.
I love it. Yeah.
This is great. We have.

(24:23):
What do we have next here? Do we have another shot of Aryan
in the in the mist here? Yeah.
He here's while Shay is finding the picture, I will read the
book description. Aryan bore A3 headed dragon on
his shield, but it was rendered in colors much more vivid than
Valar's. One head was orange, 1 yellow,
one red. And the flames they breathed had

(24:44):
the Sheen of gold leaf. His sercoat was a swirl of smoke
and the fire and fire woven together.
And his blackened helm was surmounted by a Crest of red
enamel flames. The trailer doesn't really
reveal the shield or the sercoat.
They might have changed that sercoat.
I'm I'm guessing there's a chance of that.
The the shield is fairly standard for a Targaryen shield,
and a slight change to that wouldn't be much of a big deal.

(25:06):
But the helm is absolutely 100% match of the description.
Blackened helm surmounted by a Crest of red enamel flames.
I like it says blackened becauseit is not doesn't have a Sheen
to it. There's no shine to it.
It is it, It is like a deadness to it.
It does not shine, which I've isvery intentional and it makes it
seem more sinister and intimidating.
And he his armor itself is kind of like that.

(25:27):
It's very, I don't know. It reminds me of something out
of Lord of the rings, like the like something that Nazgul would
wear very old and ancient and definitely evil.
I think the spikes on the shoulder pads are a little
unusual. We don't see a lot of those
around. And of course, he's also wields
A spiked morning star, so it kind of fits that vibe, the

(25:50):
spiky stuff going on. Here's another shot while we're
on the on this topic of armor, here's two people we're
interested in sitting there is Valar.
Look at that. That's Valar Targaryen.
No chance you caught him in the trailer unless you have the eyes
of like a Hummingbird or something because he flashed by

(26:11):
in a split second. So this is what you have us for,
zooming in to find young valor and people.
And of course, don't forget y'all, this is the armor
Baylor's going to wear when the trial happens.
So this armor that Valor's wearing right here is the one
that we'll see later has very cool look.
You know what it looks like to me?
It looks like it looks a lot like the armor that Gary Oldman

(26:32):
wore as Dracula in the 1990s, Dracula with Winona Ryder and
Keanu Reeves, except that armor was like red, almost like
pinkish bit, but still have these, these, these grooves all
throughout it. That looked really cool.
And he was the Vlad the Dragon. So that's makes sense.
They would have some draconic qualities to it.
There's Harold Harding getting ready to charge.
He's this is a one of the jouststhat we're getting ready to see.

(26:55):
I'm sorry. Humphrey Harding.
Harold. Yeah, my bad.
Humphrey Harding, we of the two,one of the two Humphreys and I
think the other Humphrey is there in the background to the
left there, because that's his colors, gold, black and gold.
And also in the background you can see a stag and the Baratheon
tent. So you can see a lot of the main
characters that are going to be associated with Dunk are kind of

(27:16):
close together, which makes sense given who they are anyway.
And obviously this tent here andyou see this dragon sticking out
of that, It looks pretty cool. The little dragon head poking
out and some dudes who I guess are just part of the retinue.
One of them is kind of interesting.
This guard on the right seems tohave some sort of cane or I
don't know what that is, a walking stick.
An older guy, not clear what that is it.

(27:39):
We don't have the Kingsguard yet, but we will see them a
little later. They are there, but they're just
not in the scene. So as this scene plays out, you
can see her Humphrey start to almost called him Harold again.
Humphrey starts to charge. And we're going to also see them
get into look, maybe they're getting into look this
particular joust. It's not clear.
Certainly Humphrey stands out inthis day.

(28:01):
He wins 14 matches. And that is who Dunk thinks is
like, wow, that's the guy that really deserves to be
recognized. So that's pretty cool.
We get a lot of just what we expect to see looking like what
we expect it to look like. Or in the case of the Targaryen
armor, we don't know what it's going to look like.
We just expect it to look cool. And it does.

(28:22):
So yeah, I like this shot of Duncan Egg leaning on the post,
watching together. That's probably going to be fun,
like having them root on or rootagainst.
And this is probably when we seehim root against Aryan and
little clues here and there as to what's going on.
But we also are going to get theroyal box seats.
This is at night. We'll talk about why some of
this is at night later. But for now, look, getting a

(28:44):
zoom in. Zoom and enhance.
Well, we can't really enhance sowe can zoom.
We have Arian again on the left.So we've seen him already.
Nothing too special there. The next one over.
And the thing in the front is Lord Ashford.
Then Baylor breaks fear. That is Baylor breaks fear right
there. Kind of hard to see, but that's
him, you know, he doesn't have the light color Targaryen hair.

(29:06):
He's already, he's graying a little bit.
They may have aged him up slightly because Baylor is
supposed to be more brown haired.
This guy's a little more Gray haired, whatever.
And then next to him is Makar. That's Makar right there.
And Makar looks a little, I don't know what the right word
is like. The hair is very straight.
He's supposed to have POC scars. You can't really tell from here,

(29:26):
but that might be why his face looks a little like has a little
texture to it. Yeah, the texture made.
Them look kind of old to me. Yeah, yeah, I think that's it.
Just looks like weather. Yeah, you're right, pox.
Bars the pox scars might be the accounting for that.
Yeah, we. I got a similar view of this
scene from the side. Nothing new from it, but the

(29:48):
same characters. It kind of confirms who we're
really looking at here. I don't know who the women
behind are. Presumably one of them is Lady
Ashford. That's a safe bet, but I really
have no idea who the rest are except for it's actually I
shouldn't say that they're I should.
They're very likely they're his daughters, the ones who were the
Queens of love and beauty for the tournament.
But we don't get a great look atthem.

(30:08):
So we can't be sure that they'renot like if they're older women,
then they're probably not that, but they're probably his
daughters. We have what is a awesome,
awesome shot of the laughing storm here.
Just whoo. That is cool, man.
That is All in all his glory. Full antler helm.
This is these aren't a show antlers like he's playing around
with in his tent. These are looking like they're

(30:30):
made out of steel or something 'cause they're different
texture. They look the color of steel and
they match this. They're the same color as the
helm and the big prancing stag is there and the horse is
looking huge and black. He's he's looking how you would
think he should look there. That's that looks this good.
He's not as tall as as the laughing storm is who's who's

(30:52):
supposed to be about as tall as Dunk.
That's a small change here, or maybe you could say a large
change. Haha.
A change from large to medium. Large, he's still a big guy, but
he's not enormous. But that is standard TV.
You can't preserve the enormous heights that we have in the
books. That's been happening since
season 1 of the first show. We have the awesome scene of

(31:13):
them looking up from their campfire at the comet going over
and they have their discussion about the comet is luck and
because they don't have a pavilion and all the other Lords
don't see this comet because they're inside a tent, so they
get all the luck. You know what, it kind of kind

(31:34):
of true. Doug does get pretty lucky in
the end there, doesn't he? It all works out pretty good for
him. So yeah, the comet works out the
true. That's the lesson here, y'all.
Comet luck is real. We've got some other shots here
of them at at camp. There's eggs seemingly waking
up. We've got some shots of other

(31:54):
festivities. You know, people did they're
playing with fire. You know, your mother told you
not to do that, but they didn't do that back then.
They they were very unsafe with fire.
We know at the Targaryens they're.
Yeah. So here's what it looks like the
morning of the tournament, or rather of the trial.
The the morning mist is a key indicator there.
That's that's kind of a giveaway.

(32:15):
And here's where we'll take a quick break with this sitting,
imposing, standing at us. Perhaps the best shot of the
trailer. We'll come back and identify
each of those nights in order and fanboy and fangirl out over
them all in just a moment. Hit points not required Do you
like Critical Role and other TTRPG channels?

(32:37):
Well, Hit points Not required isa channel dedicated to that all
things TTRPG. They have a mixture of play
streams, which is the main event, but they also have chat
centered around adding more roleplay into your RPGs.
In other words, conversations how TOS to make your

(32:58):
role-playing sessions better, tomake them more authentic, to
make them, you know, putting a little effort ahead of time to
make the game itself better. And these are really valuable
things to include in your sessions because, well, it'll
really pay off in the long term. They have charity streams as
well every Monday at 9:00 Eastern, and they're starting

(33:19):
Part 1 of what's called the Lingering Mysterious Tee Time of
Immortality. And I said that louder because
it's in all caps. It's important that you know
it's in all caps because it's emphatically the Lingering
Mysterious Tee Time of Immortality.
And that's this coming Monday. I guess that would be the 20th.
So a lot of you will be hearing this after it's already come

(33:39):
out, so check it out. They most recently supported
Point of Pride and the Atlanta Mission.
You can also find them at twitch.tv/hit Points not
Required or the replays at YouTube slash hit points not
Required If you are thinking about re listening to the Hedge

(34:00):
night or purchasing a copy if you gave your copy away.
I know that happens a lot in this community.
People lend their book to somebody and they don't get it
back because they loved it so much.
I mean, go figure, right? Or, you know, things happen,
people forget. So if you go to our website,
historyofwesteros.com, you can always use the Amazon links to

(34:21):
either get yourself a copy on Audible and Audible gives you
one book every month. I use Audible quite a bit.
I listened to A Crossroads of Ravens, the new Witcher novel
that takes place right after Garrell quote UN quote graduates
from Caremorin. It was just published recently
and it was written in in Polish about eight or nine months ago.

(34:43):
Same reader, Peter Kenney, really enjoyed it.
I've already listened to it twice, Had a lot of time driving
to New York so that was fun to listen to.
Definitely check that out if you're a fan of the Witcher.
If not, get the Hedge Night on audio.
You can. It's fun to read, but listening
to it is a different experience. You pick up different things and
it's time to get in that mode. Y'all, an article slash

(35:07):
interview on the Mary Sue was pretty informative, I thought,
because it succinctly described something I was talking about
earlier in this review we have here, which is that Peter
Claffey called it comedy from terrible situations.
That is the essence of humor in Westeros.
E content because you're never that far removed from a terrible

(35:29):
situation. You might be having a nice
moment, but it's punctuating awful things or serious things.
Not necessarily awful, but serious.
Definitely not light hearted. You rarely have light hearted
followed by more light hearted. There's no time for that.
Things get serious again too quickly.
So the the jokes are quick. They're one liners, they're
sarcastic, they may be gallows humor and and that makes them

(35:52):
authentic because that's realistic.
People do make jokes to lighten the tension, to make an awful
situation feel less bad or just so you know, like I said, to
lighten the mood. That is a normal thing to do.
So I really like, I really enjoythat.
It's so check out the Mary Sue interview with Peter Claffey, A
Night of Seven Kingdoms NYC interview.

(36:12):
That interview was interesting to me because it mentioned that
we only see scenes from Dunks POV, which I thought was pretty
extreme. A little bit like they said, it
was a little bit more extreme than I thought it was going to
be. Yeah, it's something we talked
about before that we weren't sure if they do that.
And we definitely theorized thatthey would do things like maybe
go as far as show a minute at King's Landing just to show

(36:37):
introduce a couple characters that they want to have for next
season or to show Blood Raven for fun.
But no, but no, we're not getting that.
We're not getting that at all. We will get some brief
flashbacks, apparently. You know, he's going to have
some some thinking back to Arlenand maybe some other things.
But that's it, and that's the closest thing we get to
something that isn't happening right in front of him.
So it's either his memory or he what he's seeing.

(36:59):
If he's not in the scene, we don't see it.
So that's pretty cool, actually. It's surprising, like a Shaya
said. But that's not a bad thing.
In fact, it's a good thing because it does mean it's really
sticking to the tone of the book, right?
That's the novellas entirely from Dunk's point of view also.
So they're trying to preserve that.
All right, let's talk about who these seven are.

(37:20):
We've got a lot of shots actually from the trial.
They're blurry as heck. This one's not so blurry.
It's misty, but it's not so blurry.
So we've got more scenes besidesthis one.
But this one is really the the crown jewel, I think, of the
trailer, because this is like profile picture material, like
background wallpaper material. I think on the far left we have

(37:42):
our new Fossaway, the green apple.
There's a little bit of green there on the shield, I think,
and his helm looks the cheapest, which makes sense because he's
newly knighted. That would make this next one, I
think, Robin Risling, who is theeldest one there.
He's notable during the joust, and he joins up because he

(38:02):
doesn't like airing and he sees what he does and he's like,
yeah, I'm going to stand with the people who are standing
against that jerk. Obviously the Laughing Storm is
the guy with antlers. That's the the most
straightforward one of all here in the middle.
If you're not looking closely, you might miss it, but this is a
night in all black. That's Baylor wearing Valor's
armor that we saw in that earlier shot.
The detail is very obscured because of the mist, but that is

(38:24):
absolutely Baylor dead center. So Baylor dead center with the
laughing storm on our left, his right and dunk is right there
next. And he's easy to spot as well,
partly because of his size, partly because of the lack of
heraldry, but also because of that helmet we pointed out
earlier is very distinct. It's it's actually ironically
the shiniest of them of the helmets.

(38:46):
Next over we have Harold Harding, Humphrey Harding,
Harold Humphrey Harding. He's he's Triple H sitting right
there. You can't really tell if his leg
is broken or not. I want you wonder if they're
going to still do it, do it thatway.
Probably. I would guess they will.
And that makes this last one Beesbury, which is a lot more
clear once he charges, because you can see, oh, no, I have it

(39:07):
backwards there. That's it's it's Beesbury.
And then Harding, I think, or maybe wrong, I don't know.
Either way, you can see the the the checkered is the checkers
are Harding and the black and yellow is Beesbury.
Yeah, it looks like a checker there, isn't it?
Anyway, so we see the next shot where they dunk is looking on,
and we have Arian lowering his helmet again.

(39:27):
Here's the laughing storm track.Great shot of a laughing storm.
This would be the morning of thetrial, most likely.
And notice he's got earrings. How about that?
Or an earring? Yeah.
I'm guessing one pierced ear, but I don't know.
So that's interesting because I don't think we've seen, and
here's an opportunity for y'all to correct this because this is

(39:47):
something we're not exactly going to be on top of.
Who else has who who? Which men have earrings in the
show? In the books There's a few,
although the only one I can think of is Ramsay.
And I think. Besides, I'm talking about
Westeros only. In Essos, there's plenty.
I think in Game of Thrones and House the Dragon none of the men
had earrings and I think this isthe first one, but I'd love to

(40:07):
be corrected if y'all think of 1.
Yeah. So, yeah, definitely let us
know. We couldn't think of one.
We absolutely cannot think of one other than, you know, plenty
of women and people in Essos. What do we have next?
Here we have the nice horn blowing, which presumably is
given the mist. This is probably the horn blow
to start the trial of seven, although it could be to start

(40:29):
the day's jousting on the first day.
That's also possible. Now we have this is a shot of
the charge of Aryan 7. You got a Kingsguard on the
right, and what would be Aryan and Makar, most likely, or
perhaps Deron. So we don't know which

(40:50):
Kingsguard that is, but it's clearly a Kingsguard.
I hear this next shot. This one connects to the one we
saw earlier with Harold Harding.Harold.
No, it's Harold, not Humphrey. I'm.
I'm. He's Harold.
From now I have renamed him. Yeah.
Humphrey Harding and his death and his diamonds, his checkers
beating what is probably a nightof house peak.

(41:12):
Now, what's interesting about this is a night of House Peak.
There is no night of House Peak mentioned in the hedge night.
They need to make up opponents for Humphrey because he beat 14
people. Not all of them were named.
Hardly any of them were named. In fact, I think only like one
or two were named. So this is an opportunity maybe
to introduce Lord Gorman Peak a little early just to name drop

(41:34):
him for when he appears in the mystery night, which is only
three years later. So that's you're not doing
anything funky with the timelineby including him here.
Now, up in the viewing stands, we can see what's most likely
what we talked about earlier. Lord Ashford.
And to the left, probably his wife, maybe his daughter.
It's hard to tell. Yeah.
It looks younger, so probably a daughter.

(41:54):
And then this gentleman to the right is probably a maester.
Oh, where's that? Baylor.
Oh, very. Yeah, you're right.
That's Baylor. He looked like Maester Rooms for
a second. That's just the blur.
Yeah, that's Baylor again. That's.
So funny because when I saw Makar was like is that a
maester? And like, no, that's Makar.
Yeah, you thought Makar. You thought Makar was a maester,
and I thought Baylor was a maester.
Because they're holding their hands.

(42:15):
Like, yeah, they're very call form.
They're very unadorned here. Yeah, that is how Baylor
described, though he is unadorned.
OK, so this is an amazing shot. This is a black knight Spearing
another black horsed black knight.
And from process of elimination, well, there's only one black
knight on Dunk's side. So this has to be Baylor.

(42:35):
And this a horsed knight who is the Kingsguard on his side.
That's how we know he's not doneDunk's side either.
Has to be Makar, unless it's Deron.
But it's very unlikely to be Deron because Deron, you know,
collapses after the first chargeand lays there and sensate.
This fellow is looks like he's ready to fight and Darren

(42:56):
probably isn't in the middle. Here's a follow up shot where he
is getting taken out of the saddle, which sets up Baylor
fighting Makar, which we know how that goes.
Now. You can see his weapon flying on
the loose there. It looks like it's a morning
star, which at first might make you think it's Aryan, but that
is definitely not Aryan. We saw Aryan's armor earlier.
There's no Crest of flames there.

(43:17):
And of course Aryan doesn't get knocked off his horse.
Aryan knocks Dunk off his horse and then dismounts.
So that is another clue that this isn't what that this is
Makar. So that's pretty cool.
Here we have Egg running with Dunk's sword interspersed with
these scenes from the trailer. Here's what I expect we'll get
several really fun scenes of which is a visor's slash, helm's

(43:39):
eye view. Something that personally I
first saw in the show Nightfall, which showed those Crusader
Knights. They actually had some scenes
where you you had like a GoPro view of seeing inside the
Knight's helm. It's a pretty cool thing to do
and it looks like that's what we're going to get with Dunk.
In fact, this makes it very clear what's what we're going to
get. And wow, what a shot here,
Aryan, Clearly Aryan this time with the Crest of Flames.

(44:01):
And that is a swinging ball thatis about to pop our man right in
the head. Here is a very hard scene to
unpack but if you look closely dunks leg and his side you can
see the blood and that must meanhe's been lanced because that's
what happens. And he then pulls the Lance head

(44:22):
out and the blood gushes and then he gets smacked again and
he falls down. And this appears to be him
falling down face first into themud.
It looks like it has the dirt going into his helm, which is
such a cool shot to me. See here you can see it getting
pushed into his helm. Yeah.
That's amazing. Yeah, just the just the how
disorienting that would be and how like helpless you would feel

(44:42):
like wow, I can't see and it. Doesn't don't have his dream
about being buried. He does eventually have that
dream. It just makes.
Me think of like he felt buried here, you know?
Yeah, this was kind of similar. You're right under the dirt,
except it's it's muddier, but still, that's dirt.
Here's a a quote that we pulled because I wanted to set up what

(45:03):
Makar might look like in the armor here.
It was their father who made themost fearsome appearance.
However, black curved dragon teeth ran across his shoulders,
along the Crest of his helm and down his back.
And the huge spiked Mace strapped to his saddle was as
deadly looking a weapon as any dunk had ever seen.
So this is I I pulled a few of these quotes from the hedge net

(45:24):
because I just wanted to remind you all of the vivid
descriptions that we get for some of the characters in their
armor. Some of them we don't we
actually don't get a vivid description of valor slash
Baylor's armor. So that's they were left to
their own devices here. This shot that she had up with
with Dunk pulling his sword out. This comes if it's following the
book, which we expect it to comes right after he pulls the

(45:46):
Lance head out of his side and Thunder is able to get back to
his feet despite the mud. And he's just like, where am I?
He pulls his sword and that's when he gets whacked in the head
with the Mace. So he doesn't actually get to do
anything with his sword, as you recall.
Here's another shot of the charge.
You get a better look at Baylor wearing his son's armor.
You get the cool shield, a better shot of Dunk, much more

(46:08):
clarity there. And a really cool shot of
Humphrey. Look at the red on his face
plate there. It's added red painted on his
helmet. That is a really cool detail.
Extra red splotch on there makeshim look more fearsome.
And he is fearsome. What else do we have?
Here's the quote that comes up as he's drawing his sword.

(46:33):
I like this quote in particular,so I wanted to read it to you
all. Now The world swam, and he
almost fell dimly through the pain, he could hear voices
calling his name. His beautiful shield was useless
now. He tossed it aside, Elm tree
shooting Star broken Lance and all, and drew his sword.
But he heard so much, he did notthink he could swing it.
I love that. So that we see that pretty well

(46:54):
there, I think a minute ago. Now, here's a shot from behind
of the charge. And if you may notice the detail
here, Dunk falls behind. That is exactly from the book
because Dunk freezes up when it starts.
He doesn't know what to do. And then his horse remembers.
He's like, Thunder saved him. Thunder remembers what to do.
And you can see Aryan right there.
He's right getting ready to clock him because of course

(47:18):
Arian is aligned against a dunk, you would think, and it appears
to be that it appears to be true.
You can see the Laughing Storm aligned against one of the
Kingsguard over there, which is what he wanted, which would put
Baylor maybe against one of the other Kingsguard.
I'm not sure It's like, or maybeagainst against Makar is what we
thought we saw. Of course we saw that shot was
after Baylor was already on horse, so that may come a little

(47:40):
later. Glad the show is happening.
January 18th. That's exciting.
We guessed the 25th, so we were happy to be wrong by a week in
the sooner direction. Another great joke here.
They're careful to show us a lotof jokes.
I could be quite happy in a place like this.
You are in a place like this. Love that.

(48:01):
That's good stuff. All right, what are did we miss
any shots here or are we up to our characters we didn't see?
I think we might have gotten it all.
So there's a lot of characters that we didn't see.
Of course, you're not going to see every character in the
trailer, but we do see a higher percentage of the characters
because there's a smaller percentage, small total of

(48:21):
characters in this in this trailer and this show in
general, of course. But just as a reminder, some of
the characters that we will see probably are Manfred Dondarian,
Leo Longthorne, Deron the Drunken.
Of course we'll see him. We probably didn't see him in
the trailer, but we definitely will see him.
The brute of Bracken, that's Otho Bracken.

(48:42):
Abelar Hightower, probably Lord Damon Lannister.
That's the Gray Lion. Sir Tybalt Lannister.
Unknown relation to Damon, maybehis son.
Now Lord Tully, don't know his first name, but he's there.
Sir Andrew and Sir Robert Ashford.
Those are the sons of Lord Ashford and they do pretty well.
They don't do amazingly, but it's said that they didn't shame

(49:02):
themselves and and fared well against some of the strongest
Knights, Sir Pierce Karen, Sir Joseph Mallester, Sergey Wen
Swan and Sir John Penrose. Now we might have seen all the
Kingsguard, whatever, there's three of them.
That's hard to tell from those scenes.
They they don't look distinct from each other, especially with
the mist and the distance there no sign of anyone unexpected

(49:24):
like a blood Raven or like a Shierra or something like that.
We don't expect that, but it's possible and it would be cool if
we did get it, but you really definitely don't expect to see
it in a trailer to be a bit of adowner a lot quite a few of
those characters I just named are going to die between season
1 and season 2 off page slash off screen because of the great
spring sickness. All right, so let's talk about

(49:48):
what we learned at New York Comic Con.
There's not a ton, but it's pretty cool and it's worth
hearing and we've got some greatpictures too.
This was this was really fun. George was in great spirits.
He by all reports, and our reports come from a a great
source as as pristine as possible that he absolutely
loves all six episodes. He's very, very happy with it,
and that's a great sign. From left to right, that's Ira

(50:11):
on the left, the showrunner. And then of course, you go
Duncan, Egg and George. So really, I probably didn't
need to point those out. George is also really excited
about the set too. That's that's going to be fun
almost no matter what. Say that's still in Belfast as
we understand. And it should be there
potentially for viewing. Not entirely clear on that, but
I would expect they'd want to allow tourism and all that.

(50:33):
So that was cool. This panel, look at that.
Ashaya got a question answer there.
She sent it in ahead of time andit was posted and the question
was what was the most fun part of filming?
And you, Shay, what did he say? It was so funny.
He talked about the the tug of war scene that they and they
filmed and how fun that was for him to film.

(50:54):
And then I can say that we did see some some photos later and
we saw a shot of of Egg doing the tug of war scene.
It looked real cute. It looks really cute.
So yeah, that's what he talked about and what we will see
shortly. So the let's see.
Yeah, we're moving on to the next one.

(51:16):
Cool. Yeah.
So we have the in between, you know, we did a lot of con
things. There was mostly stuff that we
that isn't terribly relevant to A Song of Ice and Fire, but we
saw some cool costumes, like forexample, this one on screen.
This is a really, really good Damon.
I love that armor. Here's just an idea of what how
big Comic Con is. Look at the size of that.
Look at the size of that thing. Here we are getting our freshly

(51:38):
getting our badges. We're in line there and here's a
big line to get in the trailer panel that we'd got a nice up
front spot up front ish because we are, we got some press passes
and here we are again. We got some cool posters.
We got one of these posters for ourselves, so we get a nice
souvenir from that. We got some cool people walking
around in their cosplays with their inflatable Dragons.

(51:59):
People definitely were feeling the mood.
The the vibe in that room was very, very positive.
Lot of happiness, a lot of excitement.
George's excitement was infectious.
The Dexter and Peters as well. IRA's a little more laid back.
That's just his thing. But he clearly is happy with
what So what he's what he's put together.
So these other cosplays on screen here, we got a great
young Rainiera. We saw another Damon there and

(52:23):
definitely some solid representation amongst the
cosplayers there. Shea Soto another.
This is the line we had for the Saturday panel.
There's, you can see me with thegolden pants there.
That's me standing there. I was just talking to Quinn, the
GM, who you might be able to seein the background there.
Oh, yeah. There he is.
Now you can see the top of his head.

(52:43):
And that was right before we went inside.
We got pulled out of line by George's assistant and stuck
right in the front row. That was very cool moment for
us. We're sitting right next to
George's family. We got some more Rainier,
another Rainier and Allison. Very cool.
Yeah, Good representation for cosplay there.
I mean, there's a lot of cosplayat New York Comic Con and it's
every fandom basically represented.

(53:04):
So you don't expect to see an overwhelming amount of anyone
fandom. So it was good to see a a solid
amount of costumes from Westeros.
I thought it was funny. You could see my little redhead
on the screen during the George pantom.
Yeah, it's. Really bright red in the corner
there. Y'all see that little or splat
orange that is a Shay's hair? So yeah, George was an even

(53:29):
better Spirits probably for thispanel.
He was telling stories. Obviously having his family in
the front row probably helped a bit.
They're from New Jersey nearby, so that was an easy just hop,
skip and a jump for them. I assume he told his Steve Ditko
story. Actually he might have told that
at the other panel. Either way, he told a Steve
Ditko story, which was the firstComic Con.

(53:50):
Famous comic artist Steve Ditko showed up to the very first No
Yacht Comic Con and then never went to any con ever again in
any city. So I guess he wasn't super into
it, but George certainly was. George kept going to cons and
many, many more cons. And yeah, so this was obviously
more straightforward George interview because it was just

(54:11):
George and one moderator rather than a moderator and four
people. Moderator Joe Hill and the
moderator for the Nut of Seven Kingdoms panel was Brandon
Davis. Oh yeah, we forgot to shout out
Brandon Davis. Yeah, he did a good job too.
And they both did a very good job.
No awkward. Question.
We had a Lannister, A Westerling, A Westerman.
Bastard, I mean. That's right, they got a Western

(54:32):
bastard to interview George. That's right.
Perfect. Right on, right.
Dead center target there. So yeah, there's another Allison
on page. Here's a Daenerys.
This was Toodaloo cosplay, Yeah, who organized a little Game of
Thrones House of the Dragon meetlast minute?
Shout out to her did a good job doing that.
We appreciate the community building there a good Jon Snow

(54:56):
here represent another Daenerys from what's season Daenerys Is
that season 2 Daenerys? There's so many Daenerys it's
hard to keep up with. That is a very good
representation of one of the Daenerys's.
Is it season 1? OK, yeah, I I am not good with
this. Which season is which?
More good shots of these folks, me hanging out with them too
little silly action there. Yeah.

(55:17):
There's another Rainiera. This is the same lady that did a
young Rainier. So she did double Rainiera, one
after crowning and one as young Rainier.
Which it's. Incredible beadwork on both.
Like you can see they're very super custom designed.
Not just a a bot, but hand embroidered and beaded.
And another really good Rainier. This is someone who just, like,

(55:39):
looked quite a bit, like, in theface.
Like Emma Darcy. Yeah.
I can't remember dance today. Yeah.
Here's a great Aria. And Ned.
Yep, they're nice Stark family there.
This is when we were in line forthe Smiling Friends photo op
booth where I and I and our our great luck of the day was that
Aziz spun the wheel for me on the 4th day and he won a

(56:01):
complete vinyl set of Smiling Friends figures.
So this. Was a very good day it's.
Probably because we were blessedby Ned and Aria.
That helped us. Here's us hanging out with Sid,
George's assistant, Ashea and George, Ashea and George, Ashea
and Sid with the matching City of Dragons jackets looking
really good, I. Wouldn't call them City of
Dragons. Oh yeah, City of Dragon jackets.

(56:22):
Just just regular black milk clothing.
Black milk dragon dragon. Karaxi's jackets.
OK, official name. Karaxi's jackets.
It's so hard to say Karaxi's jacket, but it sounds cool.
So that looks good. Yeah, looking good.
Those jackets have scales on them and everything.
They're really nice. But you love a good
constellation. Hey, there's Chapel Hightower.

(56:43):
There's Naomi Makes Art as mashup of Allison Hightower and
Chapel Ron. The Chapel Ron mashups are are
are thing these days. There's a couple of them out
there is some good quality. We also saw a print of the
Chapel Joan of Arc. I will tell you again, that was
just Chapel Ron's costume for the VMAs.

(57:04):
So it's just. Oh yeah, you told me that,
didn't you? It's so.
But people didn't. That's why that's why our our
friend Kathy Looking Glass cosplay did she actually did She
actually did that, but she also did a mash up where she did she
did a a Chapel Targaryen. Cosplay.
With that specific thing. So that's where Z's got
confused. Our.
Friend Meg has done chit pull Rowan which is chit from the do

(57:27):
it lady mean mashed up with Chapel ROMs S Rowan so there's
all kinds of mash ups. Heck, yeah.
We thought about staying in New York a little longer because T
Mikel, who is a story consultantfor House of the Dragon and a
producer for A Knight of Seven Kingdoms and former story

(57:48):
assistant to George, has her debut novel coming out or did
just come out. And the release event was
Tuesday. But we needed to get back here
to Atlanta to, well, work on this and work on this Sunday's
episode and get back in the swing of things.
I, I pulled a nice 16 hour driveon the way back.
That was fun. This is a beast 'cause he drives

(58:08):
all the way there and all the way back and he just just
caffeines up audio book music. Yeah, he especially like the way
there is impressive enough. But on the way back we were
zonked. We had like 12 hour plus days at
the con 'cause we were getting up and getting there by 10:00
AM. Anyways, I was very impressed.
Maybe that's why I can't remember names.

(58:29):
Yeah, exactly. But I'm like you, you mixing up
names. I'm like, I'm not surprised.
I would be zonked for a week. Anyway, yeah, it was worth it.
I was excited part partly I had extra energy because I was
excited to talk about this. The the trip went well and the
vibes about from production and from George's people are just so
good about the show. And yeah, I mean, let's live in

(58:51):
the moment with it. It's going to it's it's good
now. You know, we've been through
this before and it has been goodand then isn't good later.
But let's not worry about that. You know, we'll see what
happens. For now, we're we're doing
great. Let's keep that vibe going.
And, you know, in, in like a fewmonths, we're going to be
watching the show. OK.
Oh, I forgot to say something when we were looking at the
different pavilions. Yeah, but we got to see a little

(59:14):
bit of the sets set photos. Not a lot, kind of similar
photos to what George is supposed to do.
Is not a blog and but more of it.
And one of the shots we saw was of Lionel Baratheon's pavilion
and it looks really cool. Like the exterior of it.
I don't know that I want to exactly give you say what what's
on it, but I think it looks really cool.
I'm excited for a lot of of of just more sets to see in that

(59:38):
vein, more pavilions and heraldry and just all the little
touches like that. It got me really excited.
Yeah, it, it's just, it's hard to express the everything coming
together like this. As I sort of talked about the
intro this the fact that this isbeing made at all just makes me
think about where we were years ago and how unlikely that was.

(01:00:00):
And it that's a that makes me feel super grateful and almost
overcome. It's like we are just so lucky
that this got made and that it appears to be a quality
production, you know, even. Yeah, I we're, we're very lucky,
y'all. And I'm excited to go through
this experience with you all in just a few months.
In fact, it's almost three months to the day of this
recording that we'll be watchingthe show and reviewing it and

(01:00:23):
having fun with that and discussing its relevance to its
connections to the books and allthat.
And inspiring other discussions about the books as well, and
rereads and all that good stuff that always comes with ATV
season. So on behalf of Ashea, we will
see you all very soon for more content.
This is not one of our regular Sunday episodes, does not

(01:00:44):
replace a Sunday episode. So we will be doing live stream
again in a couple days. That's on at our usual time.
We'll see you all then. You know what to do in the
meantime. Oh, yeah.
Oh, gosh. And the pole.
My goodness. So that's not everything.
Yeah. OK, so here's the trivia answer.
The question again was dunk believe Sir Humphrey Harding was
the most impressive night on thefirst day.

(01:01:05):
How many nights did he humble? The answer is 14.
What about our poll results? The question was, which
character out of these four are you most excited to see on
screen? Baylor, Makar, Tenzel or Aryan
or, sorry, Laughing Storm, rather.
And the answer is, it looks likethe answer is Baylor.

(01:01:28):
Baylor won almost half the vote.Very interesting.
All right, that's cool. Well, we won't see more of
Baylor until the next trailer orthe show, but we do have a pair
of Baylor Breaks beer episodes. Y'all can check that out.
That's a that was a lot of fun to make, a lot of content with
Baylor. Lots to say about him.

(01:01:49):
What a big impact he had on Westeros in his time.
OK, let me say two things. One, George really talked up
Lionel Baratheon in the laughingstorm, as did the people.
Anyone we talked to who's seen episodes, you know, also said
Lionel that Daniel Ings just wasa stand out.
So Lionel Baratheon at 24% pretty good.

(01:02:09):
Make our Targaryen at 18% ten sotoo tall at 9%.
Y'all are weak because she's going to be a fan favorite too.
I think people are going to loveher mummery.
She's going to be Sir one of themirror shield himself.
I think she's going to be great. So I I think she deserves more
than 9%. But I can't really fault y'all
because I'm really excited for Lionel and Makar and Baylor too.

(01:02:32):
Yeah, it's a self choice. Great.
Great set of characters there, but I think Chancel is going to
have even more here because I think seeing her do memory
rather than the puppetry is going to be a little bit more
engaging to viewers. Sure, yeah.
Puppetry. Wouldn't puppetry on screen?
Maybe not so exciting. Yeah, I love it.
I think the Dark Crystal specifically.
I mean it is a puppetry. That kind of puppetry.

(01:02:53):
Yeah, this is what I'm saying isThe Dark Crystal had a scene in
the Age of Resistance where theydo a puppetry show, so it was so
cool and stunning. So I believe that they could do
a lot with that. However, I still think a a a
mummer you know is is maybe a little bit more exciting.
Right on. We also have an episode on Sir
One of the Mirror Shield, so there's another one for you to

(01:03:15):
check out if you want to stay immersed in these topics.
And of course, we have our full reviews of The Hedge Knight, The
Sworn Sword, which I wrote in mynotes as The Sword, Sword and
Mystery Knight Sword, Sword and Mystery Night.
That is confirmed. It's sword Sword.
And of course, we had an episodeas well called The Dreams of

(01:03:36):
Duncan Egg, which was envisioning what this show would
be like and how they would manage it and what comes later,
what comes after the three novellas that have been
published. So there's a lot of cool meta
and exploration of what's next and stuff like that.
So that's a cool episode. Very different, but very deep in
the Duncan Egg world here. So we hope you enjoy some of

(01:03:56):
that and we hope you stick with us for our regular content right
up until the time where we get to talk about this show.
Sorry for the false start slash end start to the end, false
start to the ending. Here's the real ending.
On behalf of Ashea, thanks to all of you.
Thanks to who did our intro. Is it Michael Klarfeld intro?

(01:04:16):
This one Michael Klarfeld's intro and Joey Townsend for the
music. The exciting thing here is that
Bran the Builder is creating an intro for our Night of the Seven
Kingdoms coverage and I can tellyou it is going to be a puppet
show. It is going to be puppets.
So there might not be an intro credits for the actual Night of
the Seven Kingdoms show, but we are going to have one and I

(01:04:39):
think y'all are going to love it.
But for now, we just did Michael's intro, which is also
phenomenal. Bran the Builder is the one who
did our first two seasons of House of Dragon intro.
House of the Dragon intro. So you you are familiar with his
work if you've seen any of those, and it is great.
So yeah, something to look forward to.
Until next time, Valar Ririus.
