(00:00):
This week on the Art of Improvement, I'll be speaking with Loud Francisco,
president of Lindora. Lindora is aone stop shop for not only weight loss,
but getting healthy and well. Myconversation with Lou is coming up next
on the Art of Improvement. Thankyou so much for listening to the Art
(00:23):
of improvement. My guest today isLou de Francisco. He's president of Lindora,
and if you haven't heard of Lindora, it's the leading provider of medically
guided weight loss and wellness solutions.Hi Lou, how are you doing doing
great? Thanks for having me well. I hope you're doing great because everybody
and anybody that has anything to dowith weight loss, getting better, feeling
(00:49):
better is an important person in theworld today. And I want you to
tell us a little bit about Lindoraand how Lindora is providing those services.
Sure would love to Lendora, asyou mentioned, leading provider of medically guided
weight loss and wellness services. WhatI love about Lendora. I'm new to
(01:11):
the brand, but the brand isnot new. The brand has been around
for over fifty years five zero.So when you think about like companies that
have been in this industry of weightloss. There's a couple that you know
have been around for a long time, but Lendora, which started and has
primarily been located in southern California. When you think about their timeline and their
(01:36):
history fifty plus years, they alsothey've always been in this weight loss world
and they've worked with literally every singleweight loss medication that's ever been on the
market. So their experience and theirhistory in this world that is now having
its moment in the spotlight right nowbecause of these newer weight loss medications.
(02:01):
There's no other company better studied andready and prepared to provide these new weight
loss medications and matching them up withbehavioral changes. That's also a really important
part of this. So the coreof the business is weight loss and weight
loss programs. We also offer weightloss medications, so that is not not
(02:29):
every single member that comes into aLendora has to or is required to utilize
a medication. Because some people wantto start a weight loss journey without medicine
or without drugs, which is completelyfine. We can help with that,
but then we also know there arepeople out there that have tried a lot
and have struggled and have not beenfully successful in other methods, and so
(02:55):
they do want to utilize weight lossmedications. That's the core of our business.
You know. In my life,I mean, I probably didn't start
working out until I was in highschool, when a long time ago.
But I found that not only doesworking out make you feel great, but
(03:16):
getting in shape makes you feel evengreater. And so when you talk about
weight loss medication, I feel likeI understand that when you see results,
you are more motivated. Do youfind that that's true? Absolutely? Anytime
(03:37):
a person is starting a weight lossjourney, it's really important psychologically that they
see results in week one in weektwo, because it's way too easy to
not see results and then fall offyea the wagon and say all right,
this doesn't work whatever, Right,So at Lindora, we always start our
(04:00):
members off with a ten week weightloss program that is specifically focused on teaching
and coaching a ketogenic diet. Sowe're focused on calories, carbs, and
protein and what the member is puttinginto their body, which is a huge
(04:23):
part of the success is making surethat they're educated on what they're putting into
their body and why. So wehave Lindora nurses in every single location.
This is a retail location. Ourmembers come in somewhere between three to four
times a week, which is agood amount when you talk of when you
(04:46):
if you were to compare this tolike a boutique fitness concept, you know,
average person going into a boutique fitnessconcept is two maybe three times a
week. This Lendora model. Oneof the other aspects I love about it
is that we create this community whereit is a comfortable, welcoming environment for
(05:06):
members that are starting or are existingon their weight loss journeys to come in
and every time they come in,this is also a level of accountability that
they know that they need. Soevery time they come in, they're weight
in, and then they're coached andthat we review food logs and we review
what they've eaten and drank, andthen motivate them and coach them to stay
(05:30):
on their journey. Utilizing a ketogenicdiet that is not taking into account any
kind of weight loss medication. Soin addition, if a member is on
a weight loss medicine, it's notthat they're just getting an injection and that's
it. They are also on thisweight loss program where they are focused on
(05:54):
getting coaching every time they come in, getting weighted in every time they come
in. And these weight loss medications, any weight loss medication is going to
have some level of a side effect, and our nurses are there to help
coach and work someone through any potentialside effects that they may be having as
well as continuing to coach them ontheir path to see results in that week,
(06:16):
one, week two, and wein our ten week weight loss program.
On average, our members lose twentypounds in their first ten week weight
loss program. So that's great,it's fantastic. Yeah, that's the real
results. And that's not including anytaking a weight loss medication. Wow,
that is just on our weight lossprogram. So the program itself without drug
(06:42):
weight loss drugs is incredibly effective. You add weight loss medications and it becomes
even more effective. It's so funnyto me because when I mean I wrote
it down, the minute you saida ten week weight loss program, I
was thinking to myself, okay, two and a half months. It's so
funny When you say ten weeks, you're like, how can anything be done?
(07:03):
But honestly, in ten weeks,I think that's when you see the
most results. And if people thathave not tried something like Lindora don't know
if they don't know these are significant, I guess visual differences and also I
(07:24):
think mental, don't you. Imean, I always try to bring that
in as an aspect because yes,you can read about it, you can
watch it on TV. How peoplehate diets. But I feel like what
you're doing here is and I lovethat you added wellness services that yes,
it's about weight loss, but it'sit's much bigger than that. Absolutely it
(07:47):
has to be because the one bignegative if you have read anything in the
news recently about GLP one medications, they talk about, well, they're not
they don't work because if you stopusing the drugs, you're just going to
gain the weight back. And that'sin multiple articles out there over the past
(08:09):
couple of weeks and months, andit for me being coming from this health
and health, fitness, wellness worldfor the last twenty years, that that
to me is such a no brainerstatement because while these weight loss medications,
you know, they're having their momentin the spot, they are the most
(08:31):
efficacious weight loss medications that have everbeen on the market, but they are
still not a magic pill. It'snot all of a sudden whammo, you
take one or two or three youknow, injections, and you lose all
your weight magically, and you canstill eat bad food, drink high calorie
drains, not move your body.So at Lindora, we focus on behavioral
(08:56):
change first, and we talk aboututilizing weight loss medications as a supplement to
helping you on your weight loss journey, because ultimately we want to be a
part of this member's journey to trulychange their lives. Our mission is to
empower people to live healthier, longerlives. So the empowerment part comes through
(09:20):
education. That's our start of ourten week weight loss program, and then
for as long as that person isa member, we're going to continue to
educate them on how do I reada food label and what is it that
I'm putting in my body? Andhow do I make sure that if I'm
using weight loss medications at some point, if I lean off of those medications,
(09:41):
I am confident that I have theknowledge and the skill set to live
in this world where we're inundated withmarketing advertising for fast food and you know,
relaxation and you know, do youknow a lot of stuff, A
lot of businesses that are going toprofit from you not taking care of yourself.
(10:05):
And then I think the last piecethat Lindora was missing in their model,
which is what Exponential brings to thetable. This is why this was
truly a strategic purchase acquisition of abrand by Exponential. We're primarily a fitness
company. We have all these differentfitness modalities that right now for all of
(10:33):
Lindora members currently we're offering our videoon demand platform as a part of their
membership, so that not only arewe coaching behavioral change and teaching and educating
about food and drink and what isgood to put in your body and what's
not good to put in your body. We have products and supplements that help
(10:54):
within a Lindora model that we sellto our memory. But now we can
also offer workouts and we can tee. Not only because they always talked about
hey, here are the benefits ofmoving your body and go out and find
something that you love doing. Ifit's yoga, great, if it's pilate's
(11:15):
great, if it's taking a highgrade, if it's playing tennis great.
But now we actually have specific workoutplans within utilizing all of these different modalities
yoga pilates cycling. Our BFT brandis our strength training concept. We have
all these different workout styles that weknow are going to appeal in some way,
(11:39):
shape or form to our Lindora membersand that's now included as a part
of their membership. So I reallydo feel blessed to have this opportunity to
lead this brand because I think it'sset up for a long term success because
we're focused on doing what's right forthe member, and it's making behavioral changes
(12:00):
while they're potentially utilizing weight loss medicationsbecause they're not magic pills, and teaching
them how to move their body properlyas well, and trying to find something
that's fun and exciting that they'll likethat will continue to motivate them for the
long run to move their bodies becauseit's all of that. It's not just
(12:20):
calories in calories out. You haveto move your body, and you have
to be conscious of what you're puttingin your body and what you're doing to
your body. And when you canfind that, when people can learn that,
that's the true empowerment of living alonger, healthier life. So I
have a million questions and I'm sadthat this is not long enough for my
(12:43):
million questions. But before I goon, I want to reintroduce you and
ask you you know where people canfind out more information. So this is
Lou de Francisco, president of Lindora, a leading provider of medically guided weight
loss and well know services. Sohow can people find out more? Yeah,
Lindora dot com is the best placeto start. L I N D
(13:07):
O r A. That's our currentwebsite. We are currently in the process
of going through a rebrand. We'reexcited about that. But for anyone that's
listening that wants to learn more, there's a ton of information on our lindora
dot com website and you'll be ableto see all of our locations there.
Primarily focused currently in southern California marketthat's where the brand started, but we
(13:33):
are franchised. We are franchising thismodel, so we are growing nationally.
We're awarding territories nationally. We've alreadysigned up and awarded locations in Florida,
Colorado, the Atlanta, Georgia marketat Portland, Oregon, creator Chicago area,
Boise, Idaho, Buffalo, Rochester, New York, Texas. So
(13:56):
we continue to expand across the country, and we continue to also look for
great franchise partners that can help usgrow this brand. And it's great because
this is a this isn't going away. It's not like I'm not saying you
know that there are some franchises thataren't successful, but this is something that
(14:18):
there's always going to be a needfor. So this is what I was
going to mention. You said, your I guess I don't even know if
they're called patients your customers. Theycome in many times a week, and
I was thinking to myself that mightbe a little bit scary for somebody that's
just joining, But do you findthat there's a positive to come in in
(14:41):
that many times? Yes, absolutely, And it really has to do with
accountability. Majority of the members thatcome into a Lindora have tried some other
type of weight loss. It couldbe on their own, it could be
in a specific program with another company, online, line, in person,
(15:01):
whatever it may be. They typicallyhave tried something, oftentimes multiple methods.
And what we know at Exponential aboutthe boutique fitness wellness market is that community
is really important, and the strongercommunity you can build within a studio,
(15:24):
whatever the brand may be, themore longer term the members stay. And
the longer the members stay, whetherit's inside Lendora or another brand like Club
Plates or Yoga six, they're goingto see better results. So we want
these members to come in on aconsistent basis. We also know how important
(15:46):
this is. This is way harderthan he I signed up for a workout
membership. So if I go acouple of times a week, a couple
of times a month, I knowit's basically paying for itself. This is
we're talking about people's health and wellbeing, and you mentioned earlier just having
that when they see results, it'smentally as well as physically and emotionally a
(16:12):
big positive in their life. Andthat's the other reason why we want them
to come in. And so ifthe average is three and a half to
four times a week, we havea good number of our members coming in
five plus times a week because theyknow they're in an environment that isn't necessarily
(16:34):
helping them and or they're trying tochange the environment that they're in so that
they can get to a healthier placeoverall, and so they see Lindora as
a safe place, a place wherethey can come in. People know their
name, We say hi, andby by first name. We know our
members and their families and their historiesand a lot about them. This isn't
(17:00):
your number, This isn't a doctor'soffice, this isn't This is truly a
place where people care about you,and we're here to help make a positive
difference in your life, and ultimatelywe want to help make positive changes in
your family's lives as well, becausewe've seen that many many times. Hey,
(17:21):
I want to You know, ittypically starts with the female in the
relationship, and then oftentimes we'll seethe spouse, the husband, the boyfriend
also, you know, start theystart by trying eating the food and the
snacks that they bring home, andthen they're like, oh, I shouldn't
(17:41):
I should start this as well asthey see their spouse are significant others starting
to lose weight, and you know, sometimes kids are involved and we're just
going to ask. Yeah. Itjust breaks my heart sometimes when well,
because when I started getting old andold, who knows what that number is
these days, but it got harderand harder and harder to you know,
(18:06):
find that muscle and to feel strong. But when I see little kids that
are overweight, it just breaks myheart because it seems this is me saying
this, nobody else's opinion, butit seems to me, as they get
older, to reverse that lifestyle becomesalmost impossible because that's all they know.
(18:29):
Absolutely, it gets harder and harder, and so the earlier you can start
to help make positive changes in yourhouse. Yeah, influence, influence right,
absolutely, because even though you maynot think the kids are watching,
they are. They see everything andeverything that we do and say as parents
(18:51):
has an impact on our kids insome way, shape or form. And
the best thing we can do isto be role models around healthy living.
And that's you know, mental health, physical health, emotional health, spiritual
health, all of that. Allour kids are so observant it's crazy.
So it's definitely an opportunity to makea positive impact. And the more often
(19:18):
the members come in, the betterresults they think. Yeah, it's so
funny. I wanted to bring upage and we only have like five or
six minutes, but it's so importantfor me to bring this up. And
it's kind of like a little storyand I'm taking up all your time.
But when I had my daughters,my mom would babysit them and she would
be so angry and calling me.She's like, the girls ate an ice
(19:41):
cream cone today and then they saidthey wanted to run outside so that they
could burn off calories. And she'slike, you're brainwashing those kids. That's
really bad. It's gonna, youknow, make them have bad body image.
And I was like, actually,I think that exercise is kind of
good, mom, And we wouldfight about that all the time. But
(20:02):
my daughters, just I have twins, they just turned twenty and now they
love exercising. They love going outside, they love going, you know,
to the gym and moving around. And I feel like if every kid had
some sort of influence that I wouldit would put you out of business,
but put you out of business fora good reason. But it's just never
(20:26):
going to happen unless everybody gets onboard. I'm sorry. So there you
go. It Is there any agegreat story? Is there any age that
is like too young or too oldto come to Lindora? No? No,
I mean, if it's if it'sa child that's coming in, will
also obviously involve the parent, becausea child by themselves can't go through a
(20:52):
weight loss program on their own. They need mom or dad's help to buy
the right food to create the environment, men, et cetera. And yeah,
I congratulations on making a positive impacton your daughters. That's fantastic.
My mom wouldn't agree, but yes, I'm sure. I'm sure today's she
would. Yeah, you know,it's because the parents have a tremendous impact
(21:19):
on their kids. So yeah, yeah, any any age and it's you
know, it makes sense. Butabsolutely. Okay, as we wrap up
here, I do want to absolutelygive people the opportunity to know that this
is a franchise and that you arelooking for franchise owners and locations. How
(21:41):
can they find out about that?Yes, absolutely, we are franchising Lendora.
We just started this calendar year, and so I mentioned some of the
areas earlier that was already awarded territories. To to learn more about Lendora the
brand, you can go to Lendoradot com l I N D O r
(22:03):
A to find a little bit moreabout the franchise. If you can go
to Exponential dot com. Exponential Fitnessis our parent company. I've been working
with Exponential for the last six plusyears now and we own multiple brands.
Lindora is our newest and if yougo to Exponential X P O N E
(22:26):
N T I A l dot com. You'll see all of the brands and
you'll see Lindora listed there, andyou'll see information about franchising if you're interested
in franchising. Awesome, Lou deFrancisco, President of Lindora, thank you
so much. I don't need towish you any luck or anything like that,
because this sounds like it sounds likea one stop shop for getting healthy
(22:48):
and I love that. And Ihope that you said you're going through some
changes. Maybe if afterward you wantto come on and do another show,
I would absolutely love that. Yeah, I would love to thank you for
having me.
