(00:00):
So you just made it back homebecause you have a birthday coming up,
and that means there's a big celebrationfor you. Yep, that is correct
on June twenty second as the nextCody and Friend show, and that is
also my thirty first birthday and oneof the few dates I'm home in Louisville
this summer. So I was like, let's make it a birthday bash and
it's going to have a course.I'm the MC, and then I'll have

(00:23):
my friend and we both share ourcampus activities. Talent agent in Nashville named
Wally Gracie Yates is a rising starand country music from Elizabethtown. And then
Jake Dapper is a friend of minewho does edgy comedy magic from Newport,
Kentucky, and your friend in MagicLegend and Kentucky Kingdom headliner David Gerard is
the headliner for this birthday special too. David Gerard was just on the crusader

(00:47):
for Children with Us. He's justfantastic. I appreciate that. Tell people
a little bit about your story,Cody, uh Well, along with my
magic, I was born with autismand my parents were told all the horse
stories about what that would entail, and they took it seriously enough for me
to go just down the road tothe ufl Autism Therapy Center, and they

(01:08):
helped get me on the right trackto go to school and to succeed in
college get my University of Louisville cardinaldegree. And this is my tenth anniversary
of my self employment career as amagician. Actually, and you're very good.
You're very entertaining. Oh, thankyou. And you've seen a lot
of good entertainment, so that meansa lot. I just worked with David
Gerard. Are we going to do? You have a little I do have

(01:30):
a little trick with it stunt, with it being a birthday show. I
figured, let's do a trick ofsome birthday money. Okay, let's do
that. Do I need to stand? What? Do I know? You're
just fine right there. It's usuallyin the form of a check, as
you know. I see, butthis one's blink because you've got to write
the worth on it. I doonly bits hidden are the important financial bits.
I don't even want you to discover, right I see. Of course,

(01:53):
I want you to grab however muchyou think it's worth. Hold it
in the air. I've got itin the air. I've got my fifth
clench in the air and toss itright at the check. Boom there and
boom, we have one hundred birthdaydollars. How did you do that?
Well, you it's your magic.Actually, it's your birthday money. That's

(02:15):
how we did. His check justturned into a giant hundred dollars bill.
I don't know how I did that. I was watching him standing two feet
away from you, Cody. That'sthe fun thing about magic. All this
will be inches from your face becauseHighview Art Center is only about one hundred
seats, so it's not as muchas I love the Palace, It's not
like you're in the back row atthe Palace, even the back row there.

(02:36):
You're pretty much in the front rowat the Palace seeing world class magic.
I love this. Cody's magical thirtyfirst birthday bash is coming up on
June twenty second, that's next weekend, seven pm, doors open six thirty
pm. It's high View Art Center, all right. I want to play
a little bit of your friend's music. How's that sound. I'd love that.
This is Gracie Yates from Elizabethtown,a rising star in country music.

(03:00):
Your shoot myous, my head sun, expect me to stay sign. That

(03:39):
song is called boys Like You fromGracie Yeats. She sounds great, YEP.
I think she has a lot ofpotential and she's very sweet personally too.
She is like a little bit ofDolly Parton, but with an even
more modern flair, is how Idescribe her. That's a good way to
feel it. And then you said, Jake Dapper does what's something a little

(03:59):
edgy, edgy comedy magic, solike the type of comedy you would see
at like the Louisville Comedy Club downthe street, but with also really good
magic with it. Oh that's allgood. Sounds fantastic. And then David
Girard. I don't know how hedoes what he does, but he tricks
me every time he's on stage. And I watch him closely. Shaye McCallister
and I were just hosting the Crusadeand he's right next to us and all

(04:21):
these things are happening and I don'teven know what went on, but it's
right before my eyes. Well, there's the reason he's one of Louisville's magic
legends. Even Lance Burton says,so yeah, so those guys are going
to perform for your birthday. Andthen what is your role on this evening,
Well, I'll be the MC.I'll share twenty minutes of I like

(04:41):
to try out some new things atthe Cody and Friend Show. I use
it as my sandbox to test outnew but still high quality ideas. And
then some of them will involve givingbirthday gifts to audience members, and of
course there will be cake. I'mkind of like the Kermit the Frog and
the Original Muppet Show. That's howI view my role with Cody and Friends.
Indeed, and this is sponsored byShirley's Way. What a great organization.

(05:03):
Oh yes, if you've seen anyof the charitable gaming and a lot
of your bars, it's from them. And that money that's not just the
fun money from the slots, itgoes to help families with cancer get cancer
treatment and have a bit of funin life. Indeed, all right,
Cody and Friends. Cody's Magical thirtyfirst Birthday Bash is next Saturday, June
twenty second, seven pm, highView Arts Center. And then how do

(05:26):
people find tickets for this? Well, we have tickets at the door and
you can go to event bright typeCody Clark or I've made it even easier.
Codyclarkmagic dot Com slash Cody Friends. And it takes you right to it.
Cody Clarkmagic dot Com slash Cody Friends. Okay, do you have another
trick? I do have another trick. Speaking of birthday gifts, I got

(05:46):
a birthday cart envelope. Okay,I see an envelope you're holding up and
it's blank. It's blank right now. But you're going to create the gift.
Okay. I'll start by saying itcan be right or black name either,
want me to say it out, yeah, okay, red, and
then it can either be one througha ten or a king, queen or
jack name any of those. Queen, so queen, and what was the

(06:10):
color again? Red? Red,queen. And that means it could be
a hard or a diamond name,either of those. It's a heart,
baby, I'm all about love, that's all heart. I'm all about love
too. That's why we have aQueen of hearts. He pulled out a
Queen of hearts. It's unbelievable, actually, a Queen of hearts as a
baby. This is card stock.I got a thing of card stock.

(06:30):
This is what and we actually GeorgeJake's from Jake's not too far from the
factory where they take the card stockand print them. Terry, tell them
what they're they're seeing now, aprinted card box, right, that's exactly
right. But the card box hasto go to the factory. It does,
and I hear there are cards init now there are words. It

(06:50):
didn't look like there were cards before. There are now a whole deck of
cards inside. Yep, but thereis one factory air right here. One
of them is turned backwards and thatis no way. That's the queen of
that is my gosh, you're good, Cody. He pulls out a deck
of cards. They're all pointed oneway, except one has flipped around backwards.

(07:13):
