Speaker 1 (00:00):
I've known him a long time and we met in
kind of a peculiar way when he was insulting me,
and I invited him to come to the radio station,
and that's how we became friends. Siiah, I'm not making
that up, Rebecca. You're looking at me like I don't.
I am making this up.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
You've got crazy stories, and I believe every since I.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
Do, I've run into people all the time. I haven't
mentioned this on the area yet. I did in an
interview recently, so it's probably going to show up there.
A woman walked up to me a few weeks ago.
I was with my wife and another couple. We were
on a boat and we pulled in the captain's quarters
and we got off and we're walking around there and

(00:37):
then you know, everybody got something to do there and
come back to the boat and a woman walks up
and says, can I see you for a minute? And
I said sure. She said I need to apologize. I
said stop right there. I said, whatever it is, it
doesn't matter, we're here, we're happy.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
You don't even remember.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Give me a hug, and she's like, no, I need
to tell you. And then she went on to tell
me this personal things. She said, I attacked you in
an email. A long time. This bothered me and I
thought to myself, if I ever see you in public,
I was like, you don't need to apologize. It's just
that's the way that goes.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Is gonna be good to her this year?

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Well, I mean but it took me by surprise, but
I am so impressed by somebody who would do that.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
We need to do it to make herself feel better.
And you blessed her to let her do it.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
Well, but I told her in the beginning, I said,
whatever it is, it doesn't matter, and we're here now,
we're happy. You know, let's you know, enjoy the evening.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Did you remember the email?

Speaker 1 (01:31):
No? Right, that just means I get enough of them
like that.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
I'm gonna have to add to it.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
But I told her, I mean, you know, people will
say stuff to me in public a lot, and they'll say,
you know, you remember you said you interviewed my cousin
and when was at nineteen ninety three, And I was going,
let it go, just let it go. That's a long
time ago.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
Let's sing a song.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Yeah, that's a that's an easy way to go. Rebecca
fly Shakers here from Louisville Downtown Partnership. So how's the
Downtown Queen? Is life going well for us in downtown Louisville? Well,
of course, love it.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Downtown's doing great.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Really, it's Brent Alston as the Downtown Queen, but she is.
She's the information stream. She sends me all the stuff
that's going on all the time around here. And I
always think, well, i'd better say that because Rebecca'll show
up sooner or later. Right, you guys are my neighbors.
We're downtown neighbors.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Yeah, you're right here on Fourth Street.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Listen, I need to tell you something. I sent you
an email several years ago, and we're all good. We
let it go.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
Was it about how great downtown?

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Yes? Too? Are we having another movie? Is that this week?

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Yes? Another movie?

Speaker 3 (02:31):
It's Men in Black, is being shown tomorrow night at
Brown form and Amphitheater Waterfront Park at Sundown's supposed to
be a beautiful night.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
All the weather's worked out great for.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
All this stuff, Yeah, it has, it always does for
some reason. We've also got Downtown Day at Slugger Field.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Now, okay, can you mind hanging on for a minute,
if you do the movie downtown. Do you bring your
own lawn chair? How does all that work?

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yes, so it is not actually a drive in of course.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
It's at the Amphitheater there, which means you can bring
a blanket chair. People have brought a little tent, like
a pop up tent, but you basically you know, you're
on step up seating and it's really a comfortable place
and you're looking down on the where the inflatable screen
is set up, the rivers in the background, the sunsets
behind that.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
It's pretty orgeous setting.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
And it can I bring my bong? Is that okay too?

Speaker 2 (03:21):
I mean, people have right, don't tell the chap.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
I saw Shakespeare in Central Park one time and I
could hardly see the stage it was so smoky. Kidding.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
You can buy beers there, Oh, okay, you can buy
There are always refreshments, so ten twenty serves up beer
and then we usually have please and thank you or froggies,
popcorn or something like that.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
And then the Men in Black movie. That one was
kind of popular back in the day, and I guess
people like going to revisit that.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
Yeah, and it's a long one, so we didn't want
to show it like in June or July when the
sun doesn't set till nine.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Thirty, right, and so you just say sunset, So when
as soon as sunset hits?

Speaker 3 (03:57):
But please check, yeah, check your weather channel. Sun's you
know it changes every day. You wait for it to
be dark enough to show it.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
That's the brown format Amphitheater in Waterfront Park. Now, I'm
sorry that I derailed you here. You were going to
say something about slugger field.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
I always in a rush to talk about all the
amazing things we're doing. Yes, we are having a Downtown
Day at the Bats game next Thursday. It's a discounted
ticket if you sign up through our section. I think
it's one twenty three twelve dollars ticket. You cannot beat
that with a ten inch pole whatever stick. What I
was just saying is we get three dollars of that,

(04:31):
so Louisville Downtown Partnership gets a little bit of that
so that we can continue doing great things in downtown.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
But who doesn't enjoy a game at the Bats?

Speaker 1 (04:39):
It says we're playing the Columbus Clippers.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Correct.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
That makes it sound like there're ships going in and
out of Columbus. That doesn't seem likely.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
I don't think. I don't know what the Clipper actually is.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Maybe they're talking about barbers cutting hair. That could be
at the Columbus Clippers.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Is that what they're famous?

Speaker 1 (04:53):
So I don't know. I don't have no idea how
they settled on that name.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
It's not the barber of Seville, it's the barber of Columbus.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Oh, maybe that's it, all right, So that's a Louisville
downtown day at Slugger Field. That's August twenty eighth, which
is Thursday next Thursday night, and then should we wait
for sunset? Is that one thirst pitch off? It?

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Actually first pitch is early.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
The first first pitch of the game is six thirty
six thirty five.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Get one of those brought worst. They're really good. They
are really with the onions. Yeah, and some mustard on
the crowd.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Oh, dude, that is d They need more dirty mustard
though they don't have brown mustard there.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
My wife complains about that sometimes she'll say, dude, your
mustard selection is lacking.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Totally. I agree, these are important things.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
She's Lebanese. She likes all the heat. You know, that's
how that goes. But uh, you're right, the brown mustard
is awfully good on a lot of things.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Better, Yeah, for sure, the better condiment.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Next Thursday, Oh that's a week from today. I got
you Louisville Downtown day at Slugger Field. What else she
got going on, Rebecca.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Well, we got work parks again.

Speaker 3 (05:54):
Next Wednesday, fourth Wednesday of the month, we are have
a giveaway.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
We're to the first one hundred workers.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
We are giving away a small plant from Plant Kingdom,
which will be something that you can take home or
you can put on your desk to decorate your desk.
It really is just to thank you recognition for you
being in the office and working in downtown. Since we're
always trying to get people back in the office.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
How much care does that require?

Speaker 2 (06:16):
As little as possible. I am not a high maintenance
plant taker.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
I don't think about no. I see them there and
I don't ever give it a thought. It's nice.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
I mean once a week you probably should give it
a little sip of water.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Yeah, that's my guess. Well that's Monday nice. I like that,
you know, we all need a little bit. And did
we just have a food truck Wednesday or was that yesterday?

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Every Wednesday? Every Wednesday through October.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
There are a lot of people there yesterday. You know.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
It is the one of the first things we did,
you know, when I started this job, and it's the
most popular thing. Every Wednesday, a ton of people show up.
It's always different group of food trucks and we always
have music and it's just a great environment. You know,
it's a fun time to be outside and you go
with co workers and something different, you know, get you
out of your office.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Yeah. Food's good too, and the foods guid I've used
a few of those trucks before. That's that's mighty nice.
All right. Does that cover everything? Or we've got more
stuff we have to.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Get to the events?

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Oh, the events, of course.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Well, I mean that's all we have for the events.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
Now.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
I will say, I thought you had a whole menu
of events you were going to start laying in Well, no.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
I do want to put us save the date and
we'll talk about this more next time. Here which is
our steins On Main event. It's our october Fest, Downtown
october Fest. It's October eighteenth. Mark your calendar. Save the
date two to seven pm, six fifteen West Main Street.
We're going to have fifteen ish breweries some vendors. We'll
have some games. We'll have some German themed contests.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Yodeling. Do you yodel?

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Not very well? But the broughtworst topic is coming up again.
Those are always good.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
We will have dirty mustard there.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Yeah. And when you have beer and brought and do
that is that's high imagine high on the hog? Literally
is what you're doing? Nice?

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Look what you just did.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Yeah, I don't really don't know what part of the
hog that comes from.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
There will be several different costume contest, yodling contest. I
think how far a schnitzel tossing contest? That sounds dirtier
than it is.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
I know, I'm from Schnitzelberg. I know what schnitzel is.
It's like a veal cutlet fried or something else. They're frozen,
and I think you like something my grandmother would have
tried to shove in my mouth when I was a kid.
Like I don't take a pass on that.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
The biggest contest is the stein hoisting contest, where you
get a full stein and a full of beer and
how long you can hold it out the whole last
person standing as.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Who went and then their arms shakes.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
You can't be in your elbow also.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Yeah, but once the beer starts spilling from the shaking,
you're out right yep.

Speaker 3 (08:37):
And there are something that's like you're out, you're on
who's going through and saying you're yeah, disqualifying.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Well, give me an idea, is that six minutes ten minutes.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
We have a women's group and a men's group. The
last two years the women are about three minutes and
the men are about four.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
Oh that's it. Yeah, yeah, so I could go start
practicing now.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
We'll tell you. It's at the end of the day.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
And people think like the more they drink during the day,
they can you know, handle more.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
How heavy is this steining? Do you know?

Speaker 2 (09:02):
That's a great question.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
This is a big glass, big full steyin.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
Yeah, all right, well it's a leader, it's a full leader.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
I'll just hold a pumpkin. We're getting into you. Just
put a pumpkin on the end of your.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
I want you to come out and win.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Yeah, that's right. Then you're all tough. The problem is
your muscle on that one side gets really big and
your other side, you know, it looks like it's made
out of taffy, and then you look stupid.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
Okay, well you could do it for both for them.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Oh no, I like looking you know, imbalanced as that were.
All right, So it's on the calendar for the Beer.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Stut October eighteenth.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Hey, yeah, we got thirty seconds. You want to talk
about AI today?

Speaker 2 (09:38):
Sure?

Speaker 3 (09:39):
I actually want to talk about all the new companies
and investment in downtown. You had talked about this before,
just the upward trend of businesses. I was actually a
pursuit Spirits grand opening today. They cut the ribbon there
open and they've got a new trial and Air is
their little speakeasy bar in on the basement floor.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Got to go by there.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
It's basement Floorware.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Twenty two West Main Street. It's a very cool joint.

Speaker 3 (10:03):
It really is filling in the entire block of the
seven hundred block of Main Street is completely full, and
it is very Bourbon themed and living up to our
hype of Bourbon City.

Speaker 1 (10:15):
I like that.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
Yeah, but where there's a lot of things going on
in downtown. Fabricated Metals moved its headquarters. They're on four Street.
They opened a couple months ago. Louisville Metro Housing Authority
has consolidated all of its offices from all over the
County to Fifth and Jefferson there in downtown Silico Capital.
They opened earlier this year, Brown Carrington. They just announced
they are a law firm located out in the East End.

(10:38):
Not only do they want to move downtown and have
their their team here, but they bought a building. They
bought the building awesome, which I think is great.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
Say back.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
Wilson, a lingo also has moved Stepta on Johnson is
moving in. They're taking a floor in the P and
C Tower. There's just a lot going on that's excellent.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
I'm going to know when that beer fest comes up.
Let's get that new JCPS superintendent out there. Let's get
him drunk and get him to move the headquarters. Forget
about that free thing at the Yum. You know the
young left beyond you. We'll get him down here to
fill up on these buildings. That's my mission. High five man,
I'm going to put that on my calendar. Yes, what's
that guy's name, Lucius or something other? I forgot his name.

(11:15):
The new guys look out for us? Oh yeah, yeah, Brian,
that's it. Yeah. I want to I want to be
pestering that guy.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
But there is so much investment going on in downtown
two point three billion dollars the most we've ever had
ever at one time underway and announced.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Terry looking beautiful too. I was on market the other
day at a restaurant there, and uh, that's looking you know.
I know they did all the sidewalk work and all that. Yeah,
so some of that stuff's still in process, it is,
but some of it's done. It looks great.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
Yeah, I'm really happy things are just it's important. Progress
is inconvenient at times, but when it's done, you're so
thankful for it.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
Yeah. Asked me about the Third Street ramps. I don't
know how long does it take to put a roof
on aym setter?

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Oh boy, oh my god.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
I saw that crane there Monday. I was like, dude,
move it along.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Well, they're going to make it exceptions for game nights,
thank goodness. But this is on top of what the
state's doing on Main Street and on I sixty five.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
It's going to be a tough time.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
That's okay. We're going to get everybody improved infrastructure out
of it, ma'am. That's just how that goes, all right.
I'm looking forward to all that stuff. Rebecca great Ce.
